Convenient and Fresh

By verycre8fone |

The Burger Bar is located in Congress and was basically attached to my hotel. I tried it for dinner Friday night and took it back to my room. The staff was super nice and the food is made fresh while you wait. Everything was hot, and the fries were great. I had a cheeseburger how it comes and added onion. I only gave this three stars because I didn't like the almost smoky chipotle taste of the burger. It could have been the special sauce, but I wasn't sure. If you like that flavor, this place is for you!

Smelled like used grease.

By Adam B |

It was inexpensive, but did not live up to the hype that's being put out about it. When it was closed you could smell the grease from it and the side walk in front of it was stained with food oil and grease. Service was slow and burgers were thin.

Great Burger and Fries in Downtown Austin

By Ken M |

The Burger Bar is on the same block as the JW Marriott hotel and offers quick and delicious burgers and fries. It's made to look a little like a food truck and the story I heard was that food trucks used to occupy the block before the hotel was built. The price was very reasonable...burgers run in the $5-$8 range, fries are a couple dollars plus canned sodas. You can easily get a good lunch for less than $15. There's really no seating directly associated with the Burger Bar but there is an indoors area just up the sidewalk that is designated as seating for the Burger Bar. All the literature for the restaurant say it's in the JW Marriott hotel but that isn't accurate. It's on the same block but access is only from the sidewalk, not from inside the hotel I liked it and I'd go back,

Great place for a quick lunch.

By Rob H |

We were thankful for this tasty eatery just steps from the JW. Delicious smells from the cooking drew us to it from the hotel lobby. Reasonably priced and large portions. What a Texas burger should be.

Tasty & good

By tamsterd |

we literally had a 20 mins lunch break from our conference at the JW Marriott so we ran downstairs to the outdoor Burger Bar. always a lineup but they move things fast and efficiently. Great options and we all enjoyed our burger choices. Grab a beer or pop and lunch was complete. Staff keeps the Burger bar exceptionally clean. Impressive!

Pleasant service good food

By Nocke |

One employee described the on the street Burger Bar as a stationary Food Truck. This unpretentious eatery services basic burgers, fries, onion rings, basic soft drinks and a few more items. The service is friendly and the food (all take away) is plentiful, fairly priced, and delicious. The store is associated with Austin's J.W. Marriott. I highly recommend it.

Not the best burger

By Zehour A |

Location was convenient. Fast service. The sweet fries were good but the burger was just ok if not bad.

Excellent Black Bean Burgers and fries

By Seth G |

This is a takeout or sit on a bench and eat place. The Black Bean burgers were excellent and presented with lots of extras. The sweet potato fries equally good. Service is good and the staff are very helpful.

Amazing Burgers and the Best Staff!

By Phil E |

My wife and I stopped here for a quick lunch yesterday and the Burgers were amazing. I had a double Bacon on a Gluten Free bun and she had a veggie burger. The fries were good as were the onion rings, but I have to say the people working there were so nice, so friendly and proud of their burgers. I loved everything about this place and will definitely be back!

Awesome Burger and service

By Jwpjr |

Came to Austin for business and wanted something quick and close to my hotel. I'm glad I stopped here. Got the single bacon cheeseburger and fries and it was fantastic! My only regret is that I didn't get another one. Brittany helped me out and we chatted about Austin and how great the weather was in February (I'm from Detroit, so it's freezing at home). Real cheap. Real good. You need to eat here when you're in Austin.

DELISH!!!

By Happydaisy219 |

The burgers here are amazing! Bonus points for gluten-free buns, too! The fries are great, the service is fast and friendly, you cannot go wrong here for a quick, delicious lunch!

Burger Bar Bonanza

By Blivers |

Great location...Fast service...Reasonable prices. First time I visited I was a guest. Second time I visited I felt like Family. Friendly crew, with a good customer-centric ethic. It has a storefront that opens onto the sidewalk, perfect for a quick lunch, or a more leisurely dinner. Sidewalk dining only. Eat there, or take it with you. Try one of the added special sauces that range from mild to super hot!

Food-truck experience in a place without wheels

By Steven L |

This walk-up kiosk is in the far corner of the JW Marriott but cannot be accessed except from the sidewalk. So go outside and find it because it's worth it. A great burger (beef, turkey, or veggie) served in a foil-lined sack with fries, a drink, or a shake if you prefer. No seating but a couple of public benches nearby. Food-truck experience in a place without wheels.

Delicious!

By TravelMom_Bowie |

Loved the food and the service! The milkshake was FANTASTIC! The sweet potato fries could have been cooked a bit more...

Yum and good beer

By drmader |

By eileen a |

Great place , food was so good , amazing view 10/10 would recommend to come here anytime me and my boyfriend loved it.

Pretty good burgers

By Cory S |

If you're in a time crunch for lunch while staying at the JW Marriott, grab a burger from the Burger Bar. You can have your choice of beef, turkey, black bean (vegetarian), etc. They're all made to order and very affordable.

Lunch at Burger Bar

By Banker825 |

Stopped by for lunch with family. Burgers and fries were good. Service was good. Outside and inside tables for dining.

Not great, but good with a unique experience!!!

By Vacation_Commander |

The food here was pretty good. It wasn't great, but still pretty good. What this place does offer is something real unique. It is pretty much a restaurant on the sidewalk of downtown Austin. You walk right up to it, order and you can sit right there if you want to eat or take it with you. There are a couple of bar-stool type of seats that you can sit and enjoy your food and people watch or enjoy the weather. Neat experience.

Too much salt

By ghostwriter23 |

Austin is not short of places to eat and after walking past this burger bar for few days I thought I would give it ago, rest assured I won't be doing it again. I got it to go, I should have eaten it at the tables to the right and I could have returned it there and then. Don't get me wrong I like a bit of salt but the amount that was on the patty was ridiculous, I had to throw it away :( overall very disappointed

Fast and easy, on the outside of the Marriott on the street.

By Jeff T |

The Burger Bar is on the outside of the Marriott, tucked into the side of the building on the street. Easy to order and watch them cook your food. They also have beer to drink there or to go, so fast way to grab lunch or dinner if you need to get back to your room.Prices are reasonable and the food is really good.

right at the Marriot, just outside...was a food truck in the past

By 149sherried |

Excellent burgers, fries and milkshakes!!! Everything was completely delicious! Everyone raved about their food from southwest chili burgers to avocado burgers to a plain cheese burger, it was all wonderful!! Milkshakes the old fashioned kind...rich and creamy and ohhhh sooo yummy! Fast service too and not expensive!!

Tasty Burger

By Amy J |

I had the big mouth burger. It was surprisingly delicious. You can smell this place then you walk by and the flavor is not a disappointment. The candied jalapenos really a awesome twist to the burger. I will probably hit this place up again this weekend.

Great stop for a quick burger

By geffsta |

Get there before noon to beat the line. Many types of burgers and toppings. Queso fries were excellent and their peanut butter pretzel shake was great.

Sxsw manager

By MrGoodDeal |

The Burger Bar serves up scrumptious burgers and outstanding onion rings. However, the Hidden Gem is the background music. Initially, I thought the music was surprisingly good and assumed it was being provided by the JW Marriott next door. After multiple visits, I finally asked the owner who provides the spectacular music selection. To my surprise the owner maintains his personal song list and plays it daily at Burger Bar. A refreshing change from the music brokers and radio play. So next time you're downtown looking for a good burger, stop by the Burger Bar. Not only enjoy the food, but tune in to the great accompanying music selection.

OK burger but didn't live up to the hype

By wloo11 |

I had heard great things about the Burger Bar and the lunch line was long so I was expecting great things. The burger was fine, but nothing special. The fries were disappointing. They weren't overly hot and they weren't crispy.

Ok

By Upnorthtransplant1 |

I eat a lot of burgers. The burgers here are pretty average. I actually think in n out is better. There are better burgers in Austin.

Quick and Good

By Ronda H |

Burger bar has a good burger, good fries and really good onion rings. It is quick. In door and outside eating area. Great for a quick bite.

Convenient burger location

By Something Tookish |

On the same block as my conference so it make for a quick meal. The burger was very good and fries very average. they cook right in front of you and there is a counter to stand at to eat.

Quick (and delicious) bite to eat!

By savagenoodles |

We stumbled across the Burger Bar while walking through Austin - it was lunch time during the week, the queue was long with office workers - so we had to wait a while to order, then wait again to get our food. It was a great burger! There's outdoor seating right outside, and indoor too I think, but it was up quite a few stairs.

Good Old Fashion Burger

By aprilstrick |

Had the bacon burger with cheese with fries and it was so good. It’s. It a gourmet burger, but instead a good old fashion burger.

At least it was cheaper than anything in the hotel.

By soccermom101 |

Long lines. Long wait. Outside. Burger was mediocre at best. But it was cheaper than anything else nearby.

Excellent burger

By Monica E |

I ordered a hamburger to go to take to my room. It was amazing!! Will I waited the atmosphere seemed inviting and fun.

Best place to get a burger in Austin!

By Tin |

We stayed at the JW Marriott Austin and the icing on the cake is the Burger Bar connected to it! The food is soooooo good and mouthwatering. We ate here on our 2nd day of the trip. I ordered the Big Mouth Burger, and my Significant Other ordered the Bacon Burger and made it a double. We both added grilled onions to top em off. The Big Mouth has a sweet taste, but with a hint of hot (which is a perfect combo for my taste buds). Your gonna get addicted to the Burger Bar! For the week of our trip, we stayed at the JW Marriott, but when we went to the airport to go back home we found out our flight was cancelled. Thus, we had to find a place to sleep overnight. We chose a hotel close to the airport and when it was time to check out the next day we had enough time to go eat before going back to the airport. The Uber driver dropped us down on South Congress as a recommendation to find a place. But ... our stomachs knew better. We caught another Uber to the Burger Bar. Same great food & service!

Great spot to grab lunch!

By Speedkillz |

Based on the reviews I had seen, we checked this place out while visiting for a conference. It was a great choice! Hot food made to order and friendly service. Can't ask for more.

Simply Great

By Europe-07-09-11 |

I ordered the large burger, not realizing really what I was doing....the thing was a double burger with double cheese and double toppings/sauce with fries to boot. Not good for the diet but great going down.

The sauce

By Dustin W |

I got the bacon burger with sauce, I don't know what kind of sauce it was but man it was good and it made my burger taste so much better! I got lost in that sauce it was so good!

Shocked

By carlautexas |

We visited the bar on our way to San Marcos, 12-6. We ordered several of the burgers and the queso fries. Delicious, our burgers were wonderful. The turkey burger was surprisingly moist with the avocado spread. The service was great. The cook Brandon was very tentative as we changed some of the trimmings at the last minute. The young lady who ran the register gave us the play by play of the menu. She was awesome. The whole team was great. Thanks

Lunch Stop

By you-and-me-2015 |

It's an easy access ... like a street vendor ... reasonably priced ($9.00 for a single with fries and canned drink) and nothing fancy (limited offerings for a burger joint)!! Small indoor and outdoor bar style seating or standing. Canned sodas-no foundation drinks 😫 Burgers include a special sauce (Thousand Island like the Big Mac). The only thing special about this place was the queso fries...a must order!! The milk shakes looked good but didn't order. I think this place has been "over rated"

The veggie burger was a bit mushy

By KRiSTeN R |

I went here for a quick lunch while staying in the city. The veggie burger was mushy. I wish I had gotten a real burger.

YYUUUUUUUMMMMMM!!!

By S B |

Really unique place to grab a bite to eat! We found it exceptionally easy and accommodating because our children were staying in the hotel and were on their own for lunch. Food was great and service quick. Definitely go back again!

Top

By Romain13 |

Excellent, fast and convenient to order and pay. Once the drink was finished we could be served free of charge. Professional staff I recommend!

Something quick

By Virginia M |

A dependable burger with a million sweet potato fries! Too hot to eat outdoors but certainly convenient to hotel!

Quick and tasty

By torbtronics |

Street side burgers joint. Tasty overall and fair value. Tried onion rings which we fresh and crunchy. Locals behind the counter fri3ndly and authentic

Great place to grab lunch in the heart of Austin

By HappyTraveler1957 |

Very good burgers and efficient service. Located on Congress St. at the JW Marriott. Had both the Waygu and regular burger...both very good burgers.

Cheese Burger/Turkey Burger/Fries on the Run

By BarRescue101 |

The gal that took our order was delightful! The food was cooked by 2 gentlemen, after we ordered. FRESH!!!!!!!! It was delish, Fries were Hot and Crispy, Burgers were terrific!!!!!!

Good fries and onion rings

By James_Gusa |

We stopped here for a mid-afternoon snack while touring Austin. We had queso fries and onion rings. One of the staff convinced me to get queso on the onion rings too and it was not disappointing. We stood at the bar outside to eat and people watch. Overall good food and experience.

fast cheap and tasty

By Lawrence D |

the burgers are not the best ever , but for fast food they are very high quality and very tasty. a stand with pub style tables set up around in front on the sidewalk. this place is fast, cheap, and tasty we do recommend

wonderful restaurant

By Bird G |

The lady in the front Brittanay, she was an excptional casheir see really had great things about this restaurant she was very polite and I can see myself returning here because of the wonderful place to dine in with my girlfriend.

Just average

By Tia |

With all of the reviews, we were expecting a manly hamburger. Instead we got wimpy McDonald type cheeseburger instead, more bun than pattie. At least onion ringers were good.

Our weekend in Austin

By 474janicew |

We were in Austin for a convention, and we were interested in finding a relatively cheap, yet good place to eat. The Burger Bar was great! It is attached to the Marriott, which is where our convention was being held. They offer a variety of fast food items, but the burger platter, which includes a loaded cheeseburger, fries, and a drink was $7.95...You cannot beat that for a downtown establishment! There are places to sit/stand outside. Will definitely be back!

Cheap eats on the side of JW Marriott

By txbatgirl |

On the side of the JW Marriott with walk up service. Fairly average burger, but the cheese fries were amazing! Got a double cheeseburger and cheese fries for $9, which is obscenely cheap in Austin. Strictly to go, but great location for people staying in the hotel or people looking for a quick lunch in the area. Staff, especially Valerie, was extremely friendly and fun.

Excellent food, amazingly reasonable price!

By Deirdre S |

Very, very good hamburgers, fries are wonderful- especially the sweet potato fries. All cooked fresh in front of you. Fast, friendly. The lady taking orders was efficient and very friendly. The price is amazingly reasonable. Bonus is that if you go inside the hotel restaurant, the host will seat you at a table . Or, there are benches and tall bar tables outside ( no chairs)

Passable burger and Fries near the JW Marriott on Congress

By finesilver |

A small hole in the wall fast food burger place. My burger was good, cooked to order, the fries were not as great at they looked and were not real warm. But the burger was decent and cooked right. Service was friendly. Priced right too, love that. I can recommend if just walking around on Congress and 2nd street.

Great Burger

By Steven Y |

Awesome place for a quick bite to eat in the middle of Austin. Wait Staff was friendly and helpful, food was great!

Watch Austin walk by while eating best burger ever

By trevormom |

We sat outdoors, protected from wind and shaded with street side table. Burgers really did live up to the hype,,French fry also crisp and thin. Mac and cheese just the thing to put you over the top into food coma.

Shut-the-Door Burger Joint in Austin

By isdn4u |

Hopdaddy's is just a darn good burger. Meat is fresh and perfectly cooked. Buns are fresh and tasty. What else do you need? Fries! Lots of fry selections to go with the burgers. You have to get there early, line forms around the parking lot.

Nice place for a quick stop, but if you have time you can find better.

By John Lamoureux |

Stopped here while in town for RTX. It's convenient, but if you have time there are better places. Everyone seemed to like the shakes, however!

Ok burger, but disappointed overall

By TheTravelingGirl123 |

Stopped here after a walk. I had heard the burgers were really good. But, my visit began with a rude person at the register. After I ordered the single burger combo, she said they didn’t have fries because the fryer wasn’t working. I went ahead and ordered without the fries but was charged the full price for by burger and drink. Shouldn’t there have been a little discount?? When my burger was almost ready. I noticed that they were cooking fries. I commented, and the guy said, yea, it’s working now.... no offer to provide me with an order. It’s a small walk-up place, so the cooks and person at the register could have easily communicated with each other. Then, finally, when I returned to our hotel room and opened my burger, my bun had two bottom pieces, no top bun. I found that interesting and definitely don’t think that’s normal. Bottom line is that my visit was subpar. It is doubtful I will give them another try.

Worth a tiny wait

By sweetapplej |

It's sometimes hard to be patient, but wait while your burger cooks. So good!!! They are very big and there was no way to finish the fries. There are a lot of those too. Plan accordingly.

Good value for the price

By JiriK74 |

Got a platter (cheeseburger, fries and soft drink) for something like $8 and it was good deal :) Everything was hot and fresh, very tasty. Service is very nice and ready for chat. Would not hesitate to shell out some currency there again. Tip for non locals - while it has 2nd in the address, it's on Congress between 2nd and 3rd, right hand side in direction from the bridge to 6th :o)

My favorite place to dine in Texas - no joke!

By Spink72 |

Visiting Austin for the week, and this is my favorite place to dine so far - and I’m not kidding! The food is consistently delicious - fresh and filling! The burgers are what I think a burger should taste like when I close my eyes and think of the perfect cheeseburger - and anymore, french fries have become pretty mundane at most eateries but the burger bars fries are superb! The prices are very reasonable for downtown Austin and the staff are top notch - they move quickly and get your order right . I will be back again!

3 breakfasts in 1 week!

By owlcub |

This place is delivering amazing walk up breakfast and outstanding service to Congress Ave! Eat here! They use real whole eggs, thick peppery bacon and amazing English muffins in breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos are delicious too! Their coffee is even good and they have half n half in the fridge if you ask!

Best turkey burger

By Veroniquega2013 |

They have the best turkey burger I’ve ever had! It was seasoned and juicy. Their breakfast burrito was good also.

Great turkey burger

By TexanTraveler2013 |

I was happy this Burger Bar was conveniently located outside the Marriott I was staying at. My juicy turkey burger hit the spot for an inexpensive meal. Enjoyed sitting outside on a stool next to a long table. This is a take out place or you may sit outside.

Quick and tasty

By Ash |

Burgers were great, onion rings were a little oily, strawberry milkshake was super tasty. Wait time was adequate and prices were good.

The burger was great but the organization needs some work

By Ryan R |

First off let me say that was a wonderful burger and fries honestly. But when i went there they were swamped. Basically they took your order and names on a ticket and put it in front of the cook probably was some fell off or blew off because they lost a whole sections of the line i was in including two people ahead of me and a few behind me. so after 15 mins of waiting and realizing we were skipped in getting out food i went up there with other people to tell them we were missed. They fixed it fast but i would honestly come up with a new system to make sure they don't miss anyone when it gets busy.

Great little burger

By JE01 |

This place is literally a hole in the wall where they fresh cook burgers and chicken. It seems like there is always a bit of a line but it did not take long to get our food. The burgers are not real thick so get a double if you are hungry. My single was just right and the onion rings were good too. Great lunch spot!

Colorfull service

By Dan A |

Very tasty burger and onion rings. The positive, you can take your food and walk into the A/C hotel lobby. It was in the mid 90's outside. The lady that took my order was a real entertaining person and great. The negative: None that I can think of.

Great food truck not in a truck

By Sarah F |

This cute walk-up restaurant is an homage to the food trucks of Austin. The Marriott did a great job of separating this place from them and giving it its own identity. I grabbed a quick lunch to take back to my hotel room. The service was fast and friendly and the food was so delicious. The menu isn't huge, but what you'd expect from a food truck--burgers, fries, shakes. All were prepared as ordered, so everything was fresh and hot. I would definitely visit again when in Austin.

Great Spot for A Quick Bite

By James L Brereton |

While their hours are a bit odd, their definitely a great place to grab a burger and fries if you're in a rush. It's also great if you're staying at the JW Marriott and want to take it back to your room. Prices are reasonable by Austin standards.

Good burger and fries

By C A |

Ran out for a quick lunch and the Burger Bar delivered. Food was prepare quickly and it was great. Bacon burger hit the spot and the fries were delicious as well. I wish it was just a bit warmer and I would have eaten at the tables outside.

Amazing burgers

By iwonek |

I really loved this place and went there 3 times during my short trip. I really liked the ordering system, could customize my burgers easily and watch them being prepared. Burgers are smashed, crispy and salty :) Had wagyu beef burger and chicken burger and they were both lovely.

Great food

By PCTravel |

Had lunch here this weekend and the food is very good. The cornbread appetizer was outstanding and the sandwiches were very good. Great service too.

Friendliest people on Congress Avenue!

By ktbfarms |

After scoping out the local eateries I was drawn these smiling, friendly faces. The food is good, the team is professional and they know how to make great burgers. Going tonight to add fries with that! I think I will try the sweet potato fries. Yum!

WAY Overrated

By Greg S |

Do yourself a favor and walk/cab/bus 2 miles north and go to the In N Out on 27th st. It is 10 times better than Burger Bar. This places offers overrated food at inflated prices - not to mention extensive wait times.

Great burger in Austin

By DavidMedinaPR |

We were in Austin for a Book Fair and while walking around ran into the Burger Bar. It was a very busy place which is a great indication of good fresh food. We order couple of burgers with fries. The fries are just ok, nothing to write home about. But the burger was full of great flavor and juicy. The bread was fresh. They are cook on the moment and service was fast and good. Prices are comparable to most fast food burger places but with better burgers.

Quick, tasty and good value

By Mrs F |

Grabbed a burger one lunch time with fries, chicken bacon and salad. All cooked to order, fresh and tasty. Good value, filling and very popular with hotel guests and locals.

Superb

By lucycan |

Excellent burger and fries, Perhaps even better than the mighty Shake Shack which I love so dearly. The shake was amazing as well. As others have noted this is just a walk up window. No seating.

Good burgers

By cockers2luv |

They offer the basic hamburger, ala carte. You tell them what you want on it. Priced very reasonably for it's location. The hamburger was good, would order there again. You wither eat standing up on the street, or you can go inside to the JW where they have an area of Burger Bar patrons.

Good Burgers but needs seating inside.

By Restefania |

This burger bar is really an order window attached to the JW Marriott Austin. It has pretty good burgers, fries, shakes etc and you basically order and take with you or stand outside at some high tables with no chairs. I found it strange that a hotel of this caliber had a window to order food outside with no seating options inside but I guess this makes it interesting. Burgers are worth trying for sure!

Great quick bite

By Megan B |

Super easy, quick and yummy! The burger was delicious and the chocolate milkshake even better. Not a huge burger but certainly enough and well seasoned. Ordering on the screen was intuitive and the folks working the grill and pick-up area were friendly and efficient.

Like a food truck built inside the side of a hotel

By Rick H |

We hit the Burger Bar for lunch, and couldn't be happier. Freshly grilled in front of your eyes, these excellent burgers (and fries and shakes and....) are 1/3 the price of the sit-down hotel restaurant five steps away. It takes a little while for them to make 'em, but it's worth the wait. This place is attached to the JW Marriott.

Good fresh burger

By Frank I |

Like everything in Austin it's modeled after a food truck. The burgers are fresh not frozen and the queso fires were so good. Good price point at $4 for a burger and free refills all day. We stopped in twice during our stay.

Best Burger I've had in a LONG time!

By Joel_Pendleton |

Ok, so I'm staying at the JW Marriot and it's past lunch time and I'm hungry. I look at the menus for the restaurants in the hotels. They are - as expected - expensive and kinda lack much flare (see my review on the JW Marriot). So I say what the heck and go try a burger and fries. Oh. My. Gosh....this burger was so good! It was made fresh right there in front of you, it was very juicy, and the meat had a ton of flavor. They were very generous with the condiments. They literally butter and toast the bun as your burger is cooking. I rarely leave raving reviews, but this was one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. Don't waste your time or money going to look elsewhere! It doesn't look like much, but it's totally worth it! If I were to say ANYthing critical, it could've used a little more cheese. But seriously, I have no complaints.

Good burgers and shakes!

By Doreen S |

Had the cheeseburger as well as two of their shakes- the peanut butter pretzel and strawberry shortcake- both were super yummy! Would definitely recommend.

Great hamburger

By David T |

Great tasting and juicy. Great service and experience. The onion rings hit the spot. Sit on the benches in congress ave, eat and people watch.

Fast service, sweet potato fries

By Frida_Cu |

If you're in downtown Austin and in the mood for a burger, Burger Bar is a great choice. Order at the counter. I got a burger, sweet potato fries and a chocolate shake for around $10. There is dining space available inside and outside (tables/ chairs). The cahsier was super fast and friendly.

Average burger

By Boro1507 |

The burger was good and the onion rings were hot, but nothing tremendously special here. Nice choice of sauces tho - the honey chipotle is fantastic

Great quick bite!

By James S |

Stumbled upon this place on a Sunday afternoon and decided to stop and eat for lunch! Order up at the outdoor counter and then there is plenty of seating both outdoor and indoor. I had the cheeseburger combo with fries- juicy flavorful burger! My boyfriend had and chicken sandwich and agreed his was delicious as well. Our favorite part was all of their dipping sauces to choose from! Our favorite was the garlic!

Long Lines during lunch hour but its worth it!

By poseyt2016 |

Really good Burgers and a Delicious Milkshake. The staff were very friendly also and they work pretty fast.

Burger Bar

By jalenw7 |

Every time I come to Burger Bar, Brandon Anderson always impress me in his cooking, you can see how dedication he is. With his dedication he can open up his own restaurant.

GO conference 2018

By Alicia T |

I stayed here for a work trip. The hotel was super clean. Amazing views. The bathroom had a waterfall shower head. The bed was so comfortable. I loved everything about this hotel.

Would have gotten 4 stars if food was served hot

By afrdurham |

This is touted as a restaurant at the jw marriott hotel but it is actually a walk up take out stand outside the hotel. I arrived at 615 and there was one customer waiting for his food. My cheeseburger was selected from a section of partially cook patties and placed on the hot part of the grill to heat it up and melt the cheese. It proved to be good despite my initial misgivings. The onion rings again had already been fried and were not hot but the onions were sweet and the crust was good. The staff were congenial. ask for freshly fried rings when you go.

Burger madness

By cindyhollelaughrea |

If you like burgers this place is unique. Yummy burgers with guacamole, peppers and cheese so delicious. Friendly service and good price.

The Burger Bar is a great place to get a tasty and quick burger

By elitePro |

The Burger Bar is a great place to get a tasty and quick burger.. The management said it's a tribute to the food trucks that were in the area. You'll find it at the side of the JW Hotel separate to the hotel so you can not sign to the room but its a convenient place and Austinites love it. I love both the Burger bar and also the Hotel with new ideas at this new Hotel. The Burger Bar is part of the JW Marriott Hotel. I stayed at the JW Marriott Austin the week it opened and reviewed it on Elite-Travel and then on TripAdvisor in Dec, 2014, at the Grand opening. it is an "Excellent hotel with excellent staff”.

Cheeseburger

By Corey S |

The Cook Brandon Anderson makes the burgers to close as perfection as humanly possible, with the cheese is a must. Simply Delicious

The Best Burgers!!!!

By JK |

We had just landed in Austin and were so hungry, walking around the area - we wanted something quick to fill us up. We came across this outdoor burger bar, cooked fresh as you order it right there… with amazing crispy fries ! (Also indoor seating)

Convenient and tasty

By Stephanie M |

Good service and good food. The burgers, onion rings and shakes were tasty and affordable for the location. I had a chicken sandwich one night which was slight salty, but still good.

Black Bean Mush

By LaLaBoo1 |

I stopped here one evening while in Austin. I was happy to find they had a black bean burger AND they don’t cook it on the same grill as the beef burgers. That is where my joy ended. The black bean burger lacked flavor and was a mushy mess. The bun and the cheese were good!! The onion rings were tasty also. I rated it a 3 instead of a two because the staff was friendly and the onion rings were good.

Sidewalk Burgers

By EltonWG |

It closes relatively early ... but then it is open for breakfast early. Burger was good, fries, good, price right.

Great place to grab a quick bite

By Stacey S |

The Burger Bar was right outside my hotel. Burger patties themselves were rather ordinary a step above normal fast food but nothing amazing. Mine was a bit dry and it also had guacamole. Fries were great and definitely convenient. Price was good for the area $9 for the burger & fries.

Great service

By Spelunk11 |

This place is really convenient . Their Wyoming Burgers are really delicious and won’t break the bank. The staff is friendly . If ever back in town I would stop by here again.

Convenient place for fast burgers

By SeanOden |

Burger is on the Congress street side of the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Austin. It is a 'walk-up' place, although there is a sign indicating there is a place sit inside somewhere, which I did not investigate. Service is quick, as you would expect. I went there twice. The first time I had a milk shake, which was good, and reasonably priced ($3.75). The second time I had a double cheeseburger (about $6.25, I believe) with sweet potato fries ($2.25). I am not a big burger person, but decided to try it, hey it's Texas, you have to have meat. The fries were quite good, I like them. I would say that the burger was okay. A double burger is inevitably somewhat messy, and a single would have made sense. It was hard to tell if the burgers are freshly ground, frozen or whatever. They don't say anything about. The combination was quite filling. But at the end of the day I think you get what you pay for, and it probably makes more sense to spend a little more and that way you have a better chance at quality. So Burger Bar is okay for something quick and your expectations are not very high, but it is possible to get a better quality burger.

The Burger Bar

By TeamFisher |

I had seen this business in many occasions while walking by. I had heard that the burgers were good so I decided to try one today. Now mind you I had every intention of getting a burger, not just any burger but a double meat with double cheese (Hell, I’m drooling now just thinking about it). Once I got there I ended up changing my mind and getting a turkey burger. OH MY GOD!!!! This turkey burger was so good I would smack your mother. This turkey burger had me considering life changes and wanting to just camp out there. Big Fish 8179 highly recommends this place.

Yum!

By jictravel |

Great burgers and it has casual outdoor seating. They also have soft serve ice cream that was really good.

I so wanted to like this place because a burger is a decadent pleasure I cannot enjoy to often. . . but

By Randy Thompson |

As my title suggests, I really wanted to enjoy this place. I'd passed it by a couple of days this week in search of something more healthful, but I'd been good for three days and it had been a good and busy morning. So damn it all, I was going to get a burger and not tell the doctor about it! The line here was not long when I got there, just two people ahead of me. But it took a good fifteen minutes after I ordered my food for it to come up. It seemed someone had called in a large order and that was messing up the staff which, by the way, are right there in the open for all to see. So I remained patient, hoping the payoff would be coming my way soon. I went with their cheeseburger, fries and drink combo: $9.95. But I wanted raw onions on mine and wanted the fries done extra crispy (that way, they are hot). As I watched the staff do their thing, what I saw most was confusion. Processes are NOT well rehearsed here. But, I was still hopeful. When at long last they called my name, "Randy, you're next up!" I went to the counter as the cook put my little bundle of joy in the box. "Did you remember the raw onions?" I asked. "Yep." Then from one of the guys down the line, came a:"Raw onions on what?" "My burger," I said. "Nope," came his reply. So a quick unfold proved there were no raw onions to be found. Fix it in a jiffy. He grabbed a handful, shoved them inside, wrap it up, then stuffed it back into the box. A quick check of the ticket, then "Fries!" he called. So a guy turned around, grabbed a box of fries that had been out of the fryer for around 10 minutes (I was watching while waiting), and stuck them in my box. I reminded him I wanted them extra crispy and asked for him to drop them in the fryer again. "No problem," he said and promptly dunked them. Three minutes later, golden hot fries. My meal now all in place, I went off to enjoy my once a month (or so) burger lunch. Yes, the fries were hot and crispy. But only because I had to remind them that's how I wanted them. The burger itself, equipped with tomato, lettuce, pickles, and a special sauce -- and raw onions because I had to ask twice -- was okay. But it truly was just okay. I didn't care for the cheddar cheese they chose, and with the last minute insertion of the chunky onions, the thing was something of a mess. Don't get me wrong, I like juicy, cheesy messes from time to time, but this one was just plain sloppy. Like I said, I wanted to like this place, but I did not. And it pains me to admit it because the burger in now in my belly and clogging my arteries as I write this. But it was not a satisfying experience. For my next burger binge, I will stick with In-N-Out. At least there I will know what I am getting is fresh, not like the frozen onion rings or fries served up here. Sorry guys. I gotta call it like I eat it.

Cheap eats

Thin hamburgers, good chocolate shake. Intriguing location right on the sidewalk, but average burger.

An honest burger

By mambroz |

Sitting on the sidewalk with a small eating area, these guys serve a mean burger. Had the Big Mouth Burger which was great with some fantastic candied jalapenos. Try the cheese fries as well - Yum!

Delicious!!

By Recent_TravelerCinci |

The burgers and queso fries were amazing! They have a few beers on tap to enjoy and the only thing that could make this place better would be to offer a margarita...

Quick Good Burger and Fries

By bootsandhat |

Street food and carry out. Food was quick and tasty. Counters outside where you eat and watch the people goes. That is a favorite pastime for me.

Great breakfast spot

By James E |

You can go to the hotel restaurant and pay the typical $25-$30 for eggs and whatnot, or you can go around the corner and get a breakfast sandwich & hash brown patty for $7.00. Of course, they serve fabulous burgers for lunch and dinner also. I was here nearly every day of my trip.

Fast ordering!

By Asphaltman |

Great food! Nice for a quick bite! Easy electronic ordering. The burger was tasty! I should have ordered two!

Great Burgers

By HappyWheels |

Really enjoyed my double cheese. Not expensive, but really tasty. Very friendly staff. Obviously popular with walkers-by, and nearby construction workers.

Fast food done right

By Pam J |

Great fast food spot offering burgers, turkey burgers and chicken sandwiches and fries. Single burgers are $5, doubles are slightly more. My husband had a cheese burger and I had the grilled chicken. I eat gluten free so I had the chicken sandwich without a bun. Both were great, fries were awesome too. Seating is community style and limited. Great if you're looking for a quick lunch and delicious food!

Turkey burger!

By Travel_love222 |

The turkey burger is amazing. Lemon sauce that is added is great. Freshly cooked and served. Service is good and quick. You smell them down the block.

Great Burger Bar!!

By Robyn R |

This was my kids' favorite location to eat while I was busy at work! There are only a couple benches to sit on, and stand up tables, but it is worth the unique seating. ;-) The burgers are fresh, the chicken was cooked perfect, and the boys had milk shakes every day!!

Excellent Burger Experience

By Thomas L |

The burgers are delicious and cooked to perfection, while the sweet potato fries or cheese fries complete the perfect lunch experience. The cashier is very welcoming and such a sweetheart while the cooks are very professional and polite.

Great burger and frys

By Alan W |

If you want a great burger and don't want to spend a lot of money then head to this place. I happen to walk by while exploring Austin on foot, I got the bacon burger and queso fries. The food is all cooked to order they call your name and then you get to enjoy your food while watching Austin walk by. I was pleasantly surprised the burgers was tasty and the fries were loaded with queso. Give it a try you won't regret it.

Great food! Burgers, fries and shakes!

By Dgodkin65 |

The staff was friendly and the service was fast. We got a cheese burger, bean burger and fries. The food was fresh and delicious! We ordered outside and went inside to eat. This is located outside the JW Marriott. A must place for lunch.

Great burgers!

By Kristen01701 |

Stopped by for a quick bite and wasn't disappointed! Ordered a cheeseburger and cheese fries. Delicious! I hope I get the names straight...Valerie,Brendan and Frank where the best!

Good burgers

By Shannon M |

This was conveniently located right outside the JW Marriott. Service was good and burger was good. Also had a peanut butter shake and that was good too. They have tall tables right there where you can quick eat if you need to.

Outstanding burgers!!

By VElittle1 |

If you want a really good hamburger come here. Freshly prepared. Just like your Mama 'used' to make! These are great! And the milkshakes are good too!

Hit the Spot

By Thad S |

Ordered the Cheeseburger Combo and it was served in about 4 minutes. It was a basic burger with your typical fixings...lettuce, tomato, onions. Not a large burger, but combined with the fries, it was a perfect, light meal.

Could be better!

By Mindwanderer |

Great concept, however the chicken sandwich and fries I had were uninspired. Didn't come out like a super-yummy food truck - more like fast food. Needs to up its game to draw from the many excellent nearby local options.

Mouth watering

By Pam C |

Just walking by makes your mouth water. Quick and friendly service are their trademark along with juicy, fresh burgers cooked to order. The Burger Bar is associated with the JW Marriott next door, so you can grab a burger and enjoy it at the restaurant next door called The Corner. Enjoy!

Quick Cheap Eats Dowtown Austin

By Robert P |

Burger Bar is a real simple open front place to get an honest burger and fries. There's no indoor seating, and the menu is pretty short .. burger, cheeseburger, bacon burger chicken sandwich. Sometimessimple is good though. The burger was well seasoned , the tomatoes, lettuce and bun were fresh. I got a side of fries that were good, but next time I visit I'll get a side of onion rings because they looked delicious. It was a great place to grab lunch for under 10 bucks.

Good food, friendly service

By Linda M |

This is a great take out place. The workers were extremely friendly. Close to JW Marriott. The turkey burger and fries were great

Yummy!!

By Judy |

Great hamburger & sweet potato fries!!! Also a super location. Sat at counters on the sidewalk. Enjoyed the food & the views.

Pretty good burger

By Justbrocky |

Had the double waghu burger and fries..pretty good. Cashier guy was strange and couldn’t understand him.

Not Impressed...

By Jarod M |

This place had a lot of hype but I was not super impressed. It was a long wait for an "ok burger". There was one person waiting and one person in line when I arrived. I ordered at the counter and stood off to the side. Once getting my food quite a while later, i went over to the tables (which are all outside). There were bugs everywhere so I decided I would go inside, because I saw a sign that said indoor seating for burger bar. I went inside and there were steps, so I started to walk up, I never saw another sign again in the stairs, I ended up walking 5 flights up, never to find where it was marked for indoor seating again. There companies like Starbucks and good signage telling you how to get to their locations, but not burger bar. I ended up going back outside and eating, and because there was left behind garbage (food items) from past patrons, there were flies everywhere.. I ended up tossing my food and walking back to the hotel. The food itself was just "ok" , not super hot, etc. I wouldn't go back.

Great place

By Jeff W |

Awesome burgers at a great price!!! What a pleasant experience in Austin!! It was 105 out and you would of thought that it was 70, everybody was so nice and really appreciated you being their! I would definitely recommend it to all!

Great Spot For a Bitw

By Reed G |

Found this place shortly after checking in at the JW Marriott. Was looking for a quick bite and stumbled upon this gem. Walk up right next to the hotel. Had the double turkey burger with guacamole and an aioli that was outstanding. Also grabbed some sweet potato fries and a special sauce (Hatch Garlic). Oh my...simply outstanding and reasonable for what you get. Can eat at the community bar right in front of the place or take it back to your room. Would definitely recommend! PS - I’ve got to find that sauce and take some home. It was amazing!

Burgers Oh My

By Y8386XRritam |

My husband and I enjoyed a juicy, delicious burger and fries. Food was plentiful. Cook and seasoned to perfection. Fair price for the quality of food. A busy restaurant. We did not wait to be seated. But, did wait a bit for our food to arrive.

Good burgers

By Clint C |

I needed a quick bite to eat, so I stopped here for a burger and fries. I thought the burger was good and the shoestring fries weren’t bad at all. They only have outdoor seating, but most of it is in the shade.

Good Food Fast

By CoKo812 |

Stopped by for a burger and onion rings and the other person in my group got sweet potato fries, all very good! But perhaps the best thing was the chocolate milkshake!!

Great Grab & Go Meal

By aprilstrick |

Walked about two blocks from my hotel and found this cool little place. I got the bacon burger & queso cheese fries. It was reasonably priced & delicious. The burger was a good old fashioned hamburger. The fries were thin, which I love. Next time I want to try the onion rings.

Perfectly cooked chicken

By Clay56 |

The chicken sandwich was cooked all the way through, but still moist. If you've never tried to do that yourself, I can tell you it's a real skill. My wife liked the turkey, also. Service is fast and friendly - we will definitely be back.

Delicious Burgers & Shakes

By HoustonFoodAndWine |

Shortly before checking out of the hotel and heading back to Houston my wife & I ate a late lunch at Burger Bar. My wife got the chicken sandwich and an Oreo shake and I got the bacon burger with a Strawberry Shortcake shake. All of our entrees were delicious and the shakes were wonderful. Burger Bar as a concept is a really neat addition to the hotel and I was glad the food quality was on par with the quality of the concept.

OK Burger

By thorneta |

I ordered the Burger Bar Combo - burger was good, but nothing that you would cross the street for. Sweet potato fries were better than average - good and crispy, with a nice salty flavour.

Quick, greasy, and good

By Gary N |

Not your healthy option for lunch. If you want a burger quickly downtown its here or P Terry's. Different styles. Burger Bar is not as greasy as some burger joints. Sweet potato fries can be hit or miss on being lukewarm.

Fast & Very Good

By RiverRat68 |

These burgers are better than the ones inside at the Corner Bar and you can eat them inside at the main bar. The staff are fast and friendly.

YUMMY and Simple!

By gogogoin2010 |

Walking downtown Austin, back to my hotel (JW Marriott) and then… A WALK-UP burger restaurant!!! Right on Congress street!! WOW, how great! Simply walk up to the counter to order juicy burger, cheeseburgers, crispy fries, or onion rings or thick shakes. Burger Bar works with local farmers who provide the freshest ingredients. They have a “special” sauce that reminded me of home. Eat there at the tables provided or take it back to a location of your choosing. I would walk back up to Burger Bar any day!

An amazing, tasty greasy burger.

By Purplemania56 |

If you like a good ol fashion greasy cheeseburger this is your place! It is very tasty. I had a double cheeseburger for $7 and it was the best burger I have had in the area and the others cost at least twice as much.

Quick, easy, fresh + beer

By Brad M |

Needed a quick bite and there it was. Burger and fries - no mess, no fuss - with a beer...I was hungry and it hit the spot!

Go for the onion rings

By CincyVacationGirl |

I stopped for a snack after my hike. The onions rings were great and the portion was VERY generous. I also tried a cup of the soft serve and Friday was also great. I'd hit that places again!

Good burger, made while you watch

By Allen727286 |

Been wanting to try for awhile. Food was fresh and tasty. Had the regular cheeseburger. They put special sauce on it and I would cut that off next time, but great burger anyway.

Wonderful

By Casey L |

The burger and shake are out of this world!!! The food was fast, but this is no fast food joint. Truly a hidden gem in Austin!!!

Nothing to Brag About

By CharlieV2011 |

I love to eat and give good reviews, but I have nothing positive to say. The employee had an attitude and was making it difficult to place a simple order for a burger box meal. I had to remind him that it came with a drink where he disappeared in the back taking several minutes to grab a can of Coke. The food was extremely salty, I could not even finish it.

Under New Ownership, Contactless Ordering

By Charley |

It’s under new ownership since the pandemic, the new ownership has changed it to contactless ordering. They now have a tablet on the side stating “Order Here” you place your order on the tablet, swipe your credit card, give your cell number, and they’ll text you when your order is ready. I ordered a Large Double Cheeseburger with Bacon and a side of Fries $17.85, 15-minutes later, I got a text, the gentleman handed the bag to me & said thank you, I didn’t look at it and stated walking back to my hotel room 10-blocks away. Once back in the hotel room I opened the bag, I was given a Small Single Burger, No Cheese, yet he did give me Bacon. It was late, I was getting ready for a concert and eat it, slightly dry burger, yet okay. Probably won’t use them again for a long to me and will stick with Dan’s Burgers in South Austin.

So good - so affordable

By Melissa H |

Quick and delicious burgers. Beef, turkey or black bean burger served with wither fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. Eat at shared table. Burger fries and drink for about $10.

Great burger and fries!

By AnnD1177 |

Food was excellent, quick service, friendly staff and. Hot food. Was quiet enough to be able to have a conversation.

Belly up to the burger bar

By Pattie Y |

Tasty turkey burger with a dollop of avocado and skinny fries for a third the price of the Corner restaurant next door. Didn't know that both are JW Marriott brand. Had to wait a few minutes but lasty nonetheless. Not quite Bobby Flay's but still tasty.

Decent quick burgers

By JeremyG33 |

I had a veggie burger which was pretty tasty. I was steered towards the onion rings, which I would personally not recommend. Try the fries instead.

Not impress

By Ileana B |

With a small line they seemed pretty confused about the orders, I didn't feel it was too organized and/or clean.

Delicious hamburguer

By yucatecamexicana |

I really enjoy eating the hamburguer I use eating salads but I wanted to try and it was a great suprise even if you do not like to eat meat frecuently. Staff is incredible friendy and professional. Place is clean, congratulation guys!

Great burgers

By AUTigerfan1230 |

The smell is what attracted us to this spot. Burgers were great and service was good as well. Convenient for us because it was right outside of hotel.

Fast and tasty

By Debra S |

Austin at it's best. This street side burger joint has great burgers and fast service. Tables outside and next to JW Marriot make this a quick convenient stop

The best burger joint

By soldieroflite |

Ironically I went and got a burger that night outside of corners at the burger bar. I got a regular bugger with bacon and cheese. And my coworker got a double bacon cheeseburger. He said the best burger he has had in a long time. And he has had many at many hotels. Most undercooked from what he asked for. And the oreo shake was awesome and my coworker got the vanilla shake. And the sweet potatoe fries were awesome and the onion rings were so good. But wow a lot of food. We loved it so much we went back again the next day for lunch and got almost the same thing. If you want a good meal, go here.

Great quick bite.

By Emannyi |

Great cheap burger ($4.75) all dressed. Supper fries and you can grab a beer. Sat by the curb and enjoyed the scenary..

Nice place to eat on the go!

By farouqm1 |

The Burger Bar is a great place to grab a quick burger and fries on a budget. The burgers are tasty (though not flame broiled), and the lack of seating and restrooms is definitely a drawback. This is a great place to grab a burger to go, and the location (literally a hole in the wall on the side of the JW Mariott) is very convenient.

Just OK

By Gemma M |

Loved the sweet potato fries & the milkshake but the burger was mediocre at best. We've had better at Five Guys.

nice lunch,

By dennis c |

fun place. good food and outside. basic burgers and fries etc. Marriot kept a place were the old food truck used to be.

While staying at the JW Marriott, I ate at the Burger Bar

By Slimed |

I've eaten at many a famous burger place. The burgers here are very good, not great. Much better than a fast food burger, but not as good as, for example, a 5 guys burger. Maybe they are the best in Austin, and certainly worth a stop if you are staying close. Try the shakes as well -- those are really good. The French fries are very ordinary. Not bad, not great. Thin fries like McDonalds shapes.

What A Jewel to Find

By Gma Pj |

Heading back to my hotel after a looooooong step of walking Austin, I was contemplating where to eat when I happened to pass the Burger Bar. Whoa, stop and look. The burger was good and juicy, fries crisp and the shake was just right, not to thin or thick. Just a window walkup, it has somewhat limited hours, catering to the office crowd, I assume. Thanks for making my day!
