No one sways tea based recipe like they do. Food lovers must try their tea leaves based appetizer. Even their desserts are yummy.

Wonderful place, buzzing with energy and great music. Perfect for a dinner and drink at the bar. Everything we tried tasted exactly like it should. Looking forward to go back!

Second visit here for lunch, plus we have ordered in a few times. I can’t even believe I am saying this but, the yellow bean tofu appetizer is sublime. The fermented tea leaf salad is different than anything you have ever eaten, and you’ll want it again. All the curries are good and the spicy noodles are spicy but delicious. The staff are all very pleasant, the room is bright, the ginger tea with honey is yummy.

This was a great dining experience. I didn't know quite what to expect with Burmese food but it really exceeded my expectations. Definitely try to the fermented tea leaf salad; I know it sounds weird but it is a party in your mouth! I also recommend any of the rices. I was surprised I really liked the coconut rice. It's sweet and provides a nice complement to anything spicy you might order. The decor is trendy but the volume is pretty loud once it gets crowded making conversation somewhat of a shouting match.

Holy Moly! This Mississippi girl was invited by co-workers to go try Burma Love. I have never had Burmese food, but being open to most flavors and also loving Thai, I figured Why Not?! I. Am. So. Thankfu! All of us were new to this restaurant, and all of us were adventurous, so we chose a few items on our own but also allowed or server to provide suggestions to make a complete meal. When I say EVERYTHING was delicious, I mean it. Not one dish wasn't completely balance, full of flavor, and had an explosion of textures. Things we ordered: 1. Tea Leaf Salad: dear heavens THIS IS A MUST (I am going to try not to say that to every dish I will list) but this is most definitely a must. The flavors and the textures in this dish did quite a dance on my taste buds. There wasn't a single person who wasn't in love with this dish 2. Platha dip - For me, it was like chicken stew and it was served with what they call "buttery, layered bread" that is like naan. I literally called dibs on the last of this dish and ate it with the spoon that was provided. Would have licked it clean if I was in the privacy of my own home 3. Pumpkin Pork Stew: Tender pork shoulder cooked with Kabocha squash, onion and garlic - This looked the most unappealing to the eyes, but what it lacked in visual pleasure, it completely made up for in taste. This was divine 4. Coconut rice: This was topped with some fried onions - also a must for all the other dishes we had to soak up all the delicious flavor. 5. Fiery Roasted Vegetables: Five spiced tofu wok-tossed with basil, string beans, red bell pepper, and your choice of protein. - We did NOT add a protein to this. I am not a huge fan of tofu, but this was one of my absolute favorites and a must for sides when ordering. The burst from the red peppers with the spicy tofu and beans was perfect. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it 6. GARLIC NOODLES: (A Chinese influenced dish sold from wooden pushcarts throughout Burma. Egg noodles with fried garlic sprinkled with scallions, fresh onions served with house sweet and spicy sauce - we added Shrimp to ours. The sauce that is served in a cup on the side is not spicy. Since all of us were okay with it, we went ahead and combined the sauce completely with the dish. This was food for 4 and we nearly ate all of it. Very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food we ate. I would highly suggest a reservation as we BARELY made it in and to a table to eat even on a Wednesday night. This was an unbelievable experience and due to its close proximity to one of my office headquarters, I can promise you I will literally eat here every time I am in SF. You will not be disappointed.

We got takeout from Burma Love and it really was very tasty. The food is awesome, particularly the coconut rice, but the dishes are quite small and the price was very expensive compared to other places in the area.

Food served is terrific and offers new taste experience. Ever tried tea leaf salad? Go for it, it's great. Service is friendly and attentive and ready to explain the more exotic items on the menu. BUT: pack ear plugs and a blanket. The restaurant is so noisy, when full, that it is really hard to maintain a conversation. And depending on where you sit, there's a cold draft coming in, whenever the door opens. These two factors impaired our dining experience considerably.

Being of Burmese origin and coming from a family with very good cooks I was surprised to hear of this Burmese restaurant in the heart of San Francisco. The restaurant did not disappoint - the Ohn no khao swè (noodles in a curried chicken and coconut milk broth) was delicious and authentic and very much like my nanna used to make. The lah pet thoke (fermented tea leaf salad) was good but I don't think it was truly authentic (it was either cos or iceberg lettuce used as the main greens in the salad). Nevertheless it was a tasty dish. Not too sure how many Burmese wait staff are working the front line which is a pity as Burmese cuisine is quite distinctive and should be celebrated. The only downside to the experience was that tables are obviously in high demand at lunch time so as soon as you've finished your meal the bill is presented. Not a place for a leisurely, long lunch but probably as authentic a Burmese meal that you are likely to get in a restaurant setting.

Had dinner here last night and it was really delicious. Started with the classics Tea Leaf Salad and Platha & Dip. Chicken curry sauce dipping sauce with Platha was savory. Next came sides of jasmine rice and vegetarian brown rice. As someone who's always found found brown rice hard to swallow, this was the best I've ever had. Really liked it and kept going back for seconds. The star of the night was pork belly mustard greens. It had a little more spice that provided the right amount of heat. Dessert was two different sorbets. These were perfect palate cleansers and the fruit flavor was bursting my my mouth. They brew their own beer which goes well with the food. Also, there's a great craft cocktail menu and nice wine list. They make a killer Negroni--again, this is something I've had previously and wasn't fond of. This was the best ever--enough for me to want it again. If you've never had Burmese street food (or any kind of street food), head to Burman Love. The food isn't too spicy for the average American. However, you can request it to be much hotter. Eat family style, otherwise you won't get to sample all the different flavors. Also, be sure to mix the mains with your rice. They're supposed to go together. I got there on a Thursday night around 7 and the place was already packed. Suggest making reservations. It's a beautiful restaurant with amazing food, service. P.S. forks & spoons so if you're chopsticks adverse, no worries! They don't even offer them.

I should qualify this review by first admitting that I love coconut. And Burma Love does a great job balancing their coconut based curries with fresh ingredients such as shredded lettuce, pea shoots, shredded cabbage, sunflower seeds, peanuts and, for the tea salad, tea leaves, all to wonderful effect. In addition to the tea salad, the Platha and dip are a must for appetizers. For an entree, the Nan Pia Dok, a noodle dish following some of the same ingredients, was delicious. Wait staff is prompt, but busy, and had to be flagged down several times. A bit more expensive that one of our favorite Indian restaurants just down the street (Babu Ji), but perhaps worth the upcharge.

I was wandering down Valencia and lucked out finding Burma Love. It's a spare but comfortable interior with fantastic food! I had a noodle dish and my friend had a curry and they were both incredibly delicious. Dishes brought to neighboring tables looked fabulous. The menu isn't large or complicated but if I had been in San Francisco a few days more I would have gone running back for more. Service and price are just right.

The food was very good. The service probably the slowest I've ever experienced. But the bill was a nightmare. Be careful, because our receipt basically showed them charging us 49.2% gratuity. After multiple calls, they said this was not the case and could provide the paperwork to prove it. All I know is that if you subtract what the receipt says was the added gratuity from the total, then it appears to equal the 49.2% In the end, they did not charge that much, according to their paperwork, but whatever positive experience we may have had was negated by their financial gymnastics.

Absolutely loved our meals at Burma Love! So glad this was recommended to us during our visit in San Francisco. The cocktails were great and we had the Tea Leaf Salad to start. It was a delicious combination of ingredients and we loved how the server explained and finished preparing the salad for us to see at the table. Both of our meals were fabulous too and we could not have been more pleased with the service and atmosphere too.

Our friends brought us to Burma Love when we visited last week. It was my favorite meal in San Francisco and of our trip driving from LA to San Fran. We got several different plates and shared them. Can't wait to go back.

Food was good service was not. Delayed and careless. Exveprion was our main course (curry lamb) which was overcooked and I returned it. In my opinion if this happens you apologize and maybe discount the plate. Well, none of this happened. They just did not care. Too bad. Will not return or recommend.

We were at the bar just across the street from this restaurant and a guy recommended we try it. He described Burmese food as roughly 70% Indian, 20% Thai and 10% Vietnamese - a fusion of the sorts. It was a 45 minute wait for a table so we happily sat and ate at the bar. The service was quick and the food was totally awesome. We had the platha bread to start - a thin naan bread type dish with a chicken curry dip - outstanding. We then shared a beef kebot (curry) with coconut rice and a noodle dish similar to a pad Thai. Our first try of Burmese food was incredible - I only hope we visit again before we leave sanfran. Prices were reasonable too. Loved it - try it !

Had dinner there with a friend and we both enjoyed it. Service was fair. My friend had to request rice three times before it was served. The server's recommendations were for the house specialities (as listed in the menu) so no revelations or insight there. Food was tasty though some dishes had significant sugar content and others were a bit saltier than I usually prefer. I want to return to try their other dishes, so that's a good indicator

We have been to the 3 Burma Super Star restaurants in the Bay Area & decided to try the newest location. We found easy parking as we arrived early, were greeted right away and seated immediately. I ordered an Aperol Spritz but our friendly waiter, Kent, who had recognized us from the Clement St. restaurant, told me that they had just gotten their full liquor license that day and were still gearing up for serving drinks besides wine and beer. During our dinner, every dish being fresh and delicious, one of my dinner companions pointed to my right. Kent had asked one of the bartenders to make me a Campari Spritz & had brought it quietly to the table! I now have the honor of being the first person to be served a drink at this location. Our dishes all arrived quickly, the service was excellent and Kent made our evening so special with his attentiveness and warmth. This is now our go-to place for Burmese food. You won't be disappointed.

In San Francisco to see an art show, locals told us to try BurmaLove. We had a delicious evening discovering new dishes, each different and tasty. We started with the Kipling cocktail, a gin based, Thai Basil accented delight. We shared the famous tea salad which lived up to it’s reputation as a house favorite. We ordered family style for the rest of the meal. The highlight was the Samusa soup-so full of different flavors that it is hard to describe but shouldn’t be missed. We thoroughly enjoyed the minced mint chicken and the Garlic noodles with shrimp, served with coconut rice. Waitstaff and those behind the bar were so helpful and friendly, we can’t wait for our next trip to San Francisco!

If you are new to Burmese food this restorente will make you fall in love with Burmese cuisine. LocTed on the upscale and happening Area in Velencia and close to Mission st. it’s is a place which is popular and touristy . The food is marvelous . For the first timers here - as we were guided by someone who already had eaten here - we ordered the popular tea leaves salad , aubergene in sauce , veg with tofu with green string beans , steamed Rice and coconut rice ( which was a little seaweed ) with wines and beers - it was true feast . Please , ask them to put moderate chilies if you can not handle fiery tatste of chilies . The place has ample seating and good service . Reservations are necessary - it is crowded on weekends .prices are high but fresh wholesome food here makes up for it . Highly recommended .

I’ve had Burmese food before but this was my first time at Burma Love. We don’t have many options for Burmese down in Orange County, CA. This was my friend’s first time trying Burmese food so needless to say we were both excited. We chatted with some guests who had been here before and they raved about it. The hostess also said everything was good. The server said nothing is a miss. With so much hype, I honestly didn’t believe it. BUT… LET, ME, TELL, YOU..all three dishes we ordered were SO good! The tea leaf salad was flavorful and refreshing. The string beans (my favorite dish) were perfectly cooked with so much flavor. It had a little heat, a little sweetness, a little savory..and a whole lot of deliciousness. The coconut chicken curry (my friend’s favorite dish) was so comforting. This is now on my SF must eat list for myself and for friends and family.

I'll take my friends who aren't 'foodies' to burma love. But I can tell they put sugar in quite a few of their entrees, so of course those dishes are popular with my friends. The food can be a bit simplistic, but fun. Their service can be quite disappointing, but not surprising once one hears how the servers have taken to the owner's to court for compensation disputes. Asking several times for water and rice seems excessive when it is necessary every time I visit. That being said, I have come here a number of times, so the food doesn't make me sick and it can be enjoyable if one's standards aren't high. It can put quite a ding in your wallet though. But the place doesn't take reservations so that has its advantages for spur of the moment dining. I like the chili tofu and the broiled whole fish and the garlic broccoli dish. The tea leaf salad is also enjoyable, but not entirely authentic (like all their dishes), but still good.

Truly amazing. We had never before had Burmese food, and this was a treat. We shared the salt and pepper calamari which was delicious. Then I had the vegetarian samusas soup -WOW! To top it off I tried the Tea Leaf Salad. It was superb. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I hope to go back next time in San Fran. So so wonderful

Definitely eat here or at Burma Superstar, especially if you are visiting SF and looking for something spectacular and special! Love everything I have tried and always visit when I am in SF!

This was a recommendation from someone who lives in SF - we turned up without a reservation and were seated immediately however by the time we left the wait for a table was 2 hours! Excellent food with great service. Can recommend Tea Leaf Salad, Mango Chicken and Pork Curry.

I have never had Burmese food, but this place has made it on my top list of cuisines! The Garlic noodles, crispy spicy chicken and Tea Salad were truly amazing! Highly recommend! Also, the drinks were fun and creatively delicious as well!

Absolutely loved this place. Make sure you try to tea salad.. it’s a must! Everything was so flavoursome.

We had to wait 45 minutes to eat in Burma love, as they don't accept reservations, but really happy with the Food. It's difficult to put the food into words but I can only describe it as a mix of Thai, Filipino and Vietnamese food but obviously prepared exceptionally well here in Burma love. 40 usd each was the damage per person for a great meal. We will be back here.

One of the best value and tastiest meals we had during our holiday in San Fran. Great veggie options and the bill definitely will not break the bank. We went back twice.

The quality of food was average. We had Chicken Wings and Samosa as appetizers and a local Burmese fish and Wok Chicken as main courses. The restaurant was very busy and noisy. The main dishes were served together with the starters. Wouldn’t go there again.

This was my first foray into Burmese food and man, am I glad this was my first experience. My wife and I came here with some other family members on the recommendation of someone who had been before. I had no idea what to expect. I really like ethnic cuisine and I love Asian cuisine. This was better than anything I expected. The flavor combinations are out of this world. Do yourself a massive favor and start with the Tea Leaf Salad. Just do it. The menu says it's "a party in your mouth" and they aren't lying. We ordered several different entrees and shared them among the table. There wasn't a single bite of any dish that didn't make me shake my head and say, "unbelievable." Atmosphere is great. Staff was on point.

This was a first visit for us. We tried 5 dishes as we had a group. Really liked the food. Friendly, efficient service. I think sharing several dishes works well here. I would definitely return.

I love burnese food the flavor and textures and smells is something I obsess over. Disappointed eating at Burma love the tea leaf salad was oily bland and lacked distinction. If it was my first time trying it I would be put off it forever. Mango salad was edible but soulless.

My wife and I go to San Francisco every year for a meeting on the first weekend in December. We have eaten in some of the finer restaurants in the past and wanted to experience more low-key cuisine. Burma Love did not disappoint. This was our first time eating Burmese food and it can best be described as a perfect fusion of Thai and Indian flavors. The Tea Leaf salad is a must starter and we sampled several chicken dishes all of which were outstanding. The laid-back ambience enhances the dining experience. Also, the bar is well-stocked and had many unique cocktail options. This restaurant will most certainly be on our "must repeat list".

Fresh ingredients in novel presentations permit even the most conservative diner to sample exotic options for a unique food experience.

This is by far one of the best places in SF. I love, love, love this restaurant. The food is so damn good! The portions are cute, not gonna lie, I could use a bit more but the flavors are just beyond! GO there for a dinner, order takeout. Can't be beat!

We were taken here by friends when we visited San Fran. The food was absolutely amazing and great choices for vegetarians too. The service was great as the waitresses would mix up the food for us and explain the ingredients when they brought it to the table. Unfortunately we do not have a Burmese restaurant near us so having to recreate some of the dishes at home.

Excellent dining option at the start of the Valencia Corridor. It was our first time eating Burmese food, and it turned out to be a delight - we actually went back the next day. It was an interesting mix of Indian and Vietnamese food -- some familiar flavors, yet some totally new ones. The place was packed both times for dinner, so it's a good idea to call ahead 30-45 mins before you show up to put your name on the waiting list. I'd recommend getting several different plates to share with a group. The portions are fairly large, and we ended up taking a lot home with us after we got 4 dishes for 4 people. The Tea Leaf Salad is a big hit, and it is indeed really good. My favorite though was the Samusa Soup - so flavorful! Other good dishes were Platha & Dip, Yellow Bean Tofu Curry, and Chicken with Fresh Mint. Great options for vegetarians as well. Tremendous service as well -- very attentive and friendly staff. I intend to keep coming back here a lot!

I've had good Thai, good Chinese, and other asian flavors, but this was my first Burmese experience. Wow what a treat!!! There were 9 of us sitting at a round table with a last susan in the middle. From the spicy tofu appetizer, then their signature tea leaf salad, we polished off 9 more dishes, each unique and mouthwatering.

Best to come early, as this is a very popular restaurant with the Mission district natives. We each tried 3 dishes, Tea Leaf Salad- La Phet, Burmese Chicken Casserole, and a noodle dish. All were delicious. Service was very good.

We had dinner at Burma Love a few days ago. The place is popular and you need a reservation. We ordered samusa soup, salad, okra egg curry, platha bread with chicken curry and Burma coolers. Everything was yummy. I want to go back to SF just to eat here again !

Had read about burmalove prior to our visit. They don't take bookings, but wait was not too bad, and food was delicious. Really tasty, lots of flavour. YUM.

My friends and I (5 of us), popped into Burma Love (they don't take reservations) and secured ourselves a table with a 30 min wait. Our friends lived around the corner so we went back to their apartment to wait until our table was ready. Sure enough, half an hour later we got a call to say it was ready. We were seated straight away and our drinks order taken. The place was packed with a queue out of the door. We ordered the Platha and dips, Tea Leaf Salad, Samusas to start, followed by a mix of mains and sides - all of which were recommended by our friends who eat here regulary and all of which were super tasty! The service was very quick and efficient, maybe not the friendliest but these guys are working hard to turn around the tables. It certainly didn't detract from the food! In terms of dining experience, it's good but really noisy. Would I eat here again? Absolutely!

This place really serves some excellent food. They do deserve their good reputation and the famous tea-leaf salad is indeed something special you should try! Highly recommended.

With so much great food in SF it's always painful when a restaurant is such a disappointment--like our recent experience at Burma Love. Valencia St can be a crapshoot but there ARE some really great places to eat. The tea leaf salad didn't stand a chance--romaine lettuce drenched in super oily tea leaves and fried garlic. It wasn't much more than that and we've never had this dish made with lettuce. Overpriced. At $19.95 the Eggplant with Shrimp and Garlic Sauce was a disgusting oily mess with a few little shrimps buried in chunks of eggplant. The dish had no flavor and I have no idea if there was any garlic in the mix. The Pumpkin Pork Stew, at $18.95, was ok but not exactly suggesting much flavor. Well, the coconut rice was good. After taxes and this this came to $75 for two, with no beverages. Next time we'll trek out to Mandalay or Burma Superstar. So much for trying to stay in the neighborhood.

Loved the meal. Menu is robust and because we were in a large group, I was able to try nearly ten different items and all were fabulous!!! Enjoyed this restaurant as much as Burma Superstar!

Loved it!!! It was not crowded for lunch, when we left we were the only to persons there.. The food was DELICIOUS!! Would recommend it for everybody!

The coconut rice is the best. Wonderful service. Appropriate price for the location and quality of food. Would definitely go back!

Large informal resturant, great choice for couples and groups if friends. There was 8 in our party & we all loved the food & had a rotation table to help us sample all dishes. I am still craving the strange & delicious flavours of their green tea salad and crispy chicken! If I lived in this city I would eat here every week! It's a unique take in Asian food that I have not experienced anywhere else, give it a try I'm sure you will not be disappointed x

we csme in randomly and werent disappointed ! extensive menu with plenty veggie options, some more interesting than others. we tried the tofu tower which was average, but the rainbow salad was incredible !!! 25 ingredients and extremely tasty ! great wine menu and lovely setting !

From their website: "Burma Love is a new restaurant located in San Francisco’s Mission District. It comes from the people who continue to acquaint the Bay Area with deliciously unique flavors of Myanmar through Burma Superstar. As Myanmar continues to open up to the world, with more and more visitors, the world is discovering it’s rich history and vibrant culture. While Burma Superstar features everyday favorites found in Myanmar, Burma Love expands and deepens the Myanmar cuisine experience by introducing classic dishes that are shared at family feasts, all prepared with traditional ingredients. You may find your dishes a bit more spicy and a bit more concentrated in flavor. You will be able to taste the love we have for Myanmar through our food. " We met there with friends, from out of town, and all of us were very impressed... Several of the local gals were knowledgeable about the menu, and ordered, for all of us... When the food came, it was family style, and everything we had was fantastic... We tried the tea salad, spicy chicken, lamb curry, ginger beef or pork? and some spicy noodles. Wide variety of flavors... Everything was delicious... We WILL be back...!!!

Very tasty place that offers a variety of Burmese food. Everything we ordered was tasty and fresh. Menu is quite diverse and service good

It was extremely disorganized and seemed as though the staff really didn't know what they were doing on top of that my server zula i think her name was couldnt even open a bottle of wine really disorganized mess

I was in SF on business and out with some friends asking what we absolutely had to EAT that was unique to the city. Luckily for me we ended up at Burma Love. Three of us ordered what we were told was likely too much, (we took that as a challenge,) as we wanted to try as many dishes as possible. Nothing disappointed, the food was SO good, each dish was literally better than the previous. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is wonderful with a great ambiance and very special and unique dishes. I’m so extremely grateful to the manager Khahn, who mailed my prescription glasses to Boston after I left them at the restaurant. Wonderful spot all around; I’ll definitely be back!

This place has all the reliability and customer service you'd expect from the worlds worst airline. Try don't take reservations and a promised 1 hour wait becomes more than 2 hours, with no ability at the 2 hour mark to tell you if it's going to be another 5 minutes or an hour. The food is good but not worth the hassle.

Spent a month in San Francisco and this was definitely one of top meals of the trip. Not a foodie type but was inspired to leave a review for this place and just a few others because they stood out. Went as a double date and shared a bunch of dishes - all of them good.

Loved the food and the restaurant setting. Came back for lunch twice in a week. The tea leaf salad is excellent. Service is good. They offer a sort of combination lunch that provides smaller portions for lunch. Loved it. Mid range San Francisco prices.

I always love their food (fried eggplants in garlic & caramel sauce, all types of noodles, tea leaf rice, fried & spicy chicken... and much more) and the cozy atmosphere. It is a spot, that when back to San Francisco, I always like to consider.

Wow, what a surprise!! Went on Vacation, six of us total. We ate family style, which is the best way to eat to try a bit of everything. We ordered the Platha bread, different types of Samusas, Coconut rice, the Coconut chicken soup, the rainbow salad, and a meat. WOW again! The flavors were amazing. Everything we had was so good, that we ordered some things twice. The services good, but it gets really busy. I suggest getting reservations, if you do not have one I would try to get there as soon as they open because space is limited. We had an early dinner and showed up as soon as they opened without reservations, but by the time we were halfway done with dinner it was completely full and people were waiting in line. Best food I had during me two week trip through California, hands down!

The food was very delicious and fresh. Although the restaurant was full we didn't have to wait long for our meal and personnel was very friendly. Defenetly a "must visit" when you are staying in san fran.

We had the green tea salad and the spicy noodles with organic chicken. Add to this a ginger tea and the tab was less than $40 for two. Delicious and totally worth it!

Great Burmese food. Authentic spicy Asian food at its best. We had a mix of vegetarian and non vegetarian people and all we very well catered for. The fermented tea salad was great and all dishes did not disappoint.

The fermented tea salad is great. I don't like salads that much but it was amazing. I love the blend between Southeast Asia and Indian created at this restaurant. The pepper chicken was great too. A beautiful bar for cocktails. Definitely worth the trip to mission for this dinner.

Excellent tea leaf salad, mint chicken, and coconut rice. The food was delicious and the service was quick.

We ordered in and the food arrived hot and on time. Everything was yummy: Tea Leaf Salad, Mango Chicken, Steak Kebat, Spicy Noodles with Shrimp, Coconut Rice, and Fiery Chicken Tofu. We’ll be doing it again soon.

We visited this Burmese Restaurant during our stay at SF in May. And absolutely awesome and happening place in SF. Be prepared to wait as it is a very famous joint. But once you eat you will realize that it was worth the wait.

The food was delicious had all my Burmese favorites. The food is on par with burma super star. It's a more modern "mission" setting for sure. Would go back for sure.

Visited here this evening. Good location, well presented restaurant interesting menu. Coming from a Burmese background I was really happy with the quality of the food I had mohinga, tea salad and tomato relish - all very good!

Be prepared to pay a bit more than you typically might for Burmese food. I love the ambiance of the restaurant, conveniently located in the Mission (although a bit of a walk from Bart). All of the cocktails are very good. The tea leaf salad is a little underwhelming compared to Mingalaba, Mandalay and Burma Superstar. Nevertheless, we LOVED the platha and dip, but mostly the dip.

I was recommended Burma Love by a friend who visited in August - it did not disappoint! Beautiful space, amazing food - my first Burmese meal. Really attentive staff as well. Go try it!

Food from Burma ( known as Myanmar) is getting more and more popular and as a result you see more and more restaurants serving Burmese food. We have been enjoying Rangoon Ruby and Burma Ruby in Palo Alto and their Tea Leaf Salad has become a favorite of ours. The Tea leaf Salad at Burma love was good. We also had the Yellow Bean Tofu Curry, Spicy Noodles with Tofu, Organic Sesame Tofu and Chicken with fresh mint. All the dishes were tasty. We used Ubereats to get the food and they were late in delivering but the food was still hot. I would recommend Burma Love

Burma Love is a fantastic Burmese restaurant - one of my favorite restaurants in SF. I actually prefer going for lunch where it’s easier to get a table. It’s cliche — but the tea leaf salad is truly great. It’s a good place for business lunches as well. The only downside is the surrounding area is so-so as you’re a bit aways from the heart of the Mission.

I think the only reason I come to San Francisco is to eat at this place. Well originally to eat at Burmese Superstar, but my local friends invited me here since there's usually less wait. Apparently that's true since we only waited about five minutes for a table on Labor Day night. The food is exceptional! The flavors are unique and well put together. It's family style so bring some friends and try out a few different plates and don't forget to add their delicious coconut rice (a must). Same thing with their desserts! There was nothing I didn't like. Seriously, I could not stop eating; and I liked it so much that I wanted to rewind and eat the meal all over again. I wish I could be more specific with the plates, but I let my friends order and had some of everything. If you're in San Francisco, do yourself a favor and eat here or at their original restaurant Burmese Superstar, you won't regret it.

We went for lunch on a Wednesday. It was busier than I expected but we didn’t have to wait for a table. The lunch specials seemed to be a good deal and we loved everything we ate. I got the Vegetable Samusas with Chicken Curry and my husband got the Superstar Shrimp Platha Wrap with Coconut Rice and Lotus Chips. The wrap was AMAZING, definitely our favorite thing. The lotus chips were also crisp and light. The service we got left a little to be desired - our waiter never came back after taking our order (someone else delivered the food and check) and he didn’t ask us if we wanted anything to drink beyond water. Still, definitely recommend for the food. Too bad we are on vacation or this would be a regular stop.

This is a favourite of ours. A stay in the Mission isn't complete until we have again tasted the subtle flavours of the meals here. We don't think you can go wrong when choosing. We have loved everything we've tried, but especially the tea leaf salad! We highly recommend. In our most recent two weeks, we ate with Burma Love twice.

The Staff was pleasant. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. The food was quite good. Overall it was a very good experience.

Busy place with a tasty fermented tea salad, but the Mohinga was not so great. The noodles were way overdone, and there was not even a hint of lemongrass as described. I'm no Burmese food expert, so if it's spot on, and I just don't know, that's fine, but I didn't care for it. Stick to what everyone else says is delicious, and you'll have a great meal.

Got in early to get table, since place filled up fast. (unfortunately when full, VERY noisy and hard to carry on conversation) Enjoyed every dish from tea salad to rice dessert. Staff very helpful, packing leftovers since we couldn't eat it all.

Not only the food is great (diverse, fresh and simply delicious) but the ambiance id relaxed and cheerful. Prices are a bit high, but after all it's SF.

Very good experience with a menu that presented completely unknown flavors for me. Went by the waiters recommendations. In general the food can be a bit spicy. The beef dish was very good, as well as the coconut rice. It's Asian but definitely different from Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. Friendly atmosphere, unpretentious, with a neighborhood feeling.

Great food, reasonable prices and good service. The tea leaf salad was a taste experience - definitely worth trying. Burmese curry was delicious and drinks were tasty. Took about 10 mins to be seated on Saturday night but we waited at the bar no problem. Worth a visit!

this is a Nice place to have dinner with friends... it has great food, good drinks, nice desserts. you could give it a try !

The food here is good. You can usually get a table quickly if you come on the early side. If you have to wait there is a bar you can wait at - the house Burma Ale is exceptional. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from. You can't go wrong with most. The Tea Leaf salad is my favorite and it comes with a good presentation as they make it table side.

First of all I want to said that the staff was super friendly, we ask all kind of questions about the food and the spices in it, and the all answer is with a smile and start a little talk, so was a nice gesture. The food was good. We ordered a rainbow salad and was very tasty and fresh, we also had the tofu tower, but the fried tofu was to fried and it was dry, so was a downside for that plate. But was a good meal and I'd probably come back to try more dishes. Nice atmosphere and beautiful place.

It's on the corner of Valencia and Duboce. Charming location and parking can be tight. I found a spot off Mission and 15th. I've never had Burmese food. The tea salad was very nice, crispy, and refreshing. The beef curry was light. I had a nice time.

The Burma Love is a large Burmese cuisine restaurant with plenty of seating and a large bar. I ordered the fiery tofu veggie stir-fry curry with the coconut rice and a burma ale. The stir-fir was quite hot as I like it with a nice robust flavor. The coconut rice was also very good as was the ale. I also ordered the vegetarian samusas which were different than the Indian samusas; but very tasty. I enjoyed everything and the service was prompt and gracious. The menu is quite large with plenty of vegetarian options as well as meat and seafood choices. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant which seemed to have an energetic vibe. Although I have visited this restaurant only once I have walked by on several occasions and it always seems to be busy which is an excellent sign that it is very popular. I don't know if they take reservations; but you may want to phone ahead and inquire to avoid disappointment. The dishes are not inexpensive; but I thought the value was very fair for what you received. Next year when I visit SF again I plan to make a return visit.

Had a great time here and could not recommend it more. The salads (and this is something I never say) were the true highlight and this place could market itself on them alone. The rest of the food, in comparison, was just very good... Only real quibble was the lack of genuine heat in dishes that were meant to have a decent amount of chili in them, but I consider this a issue that cuts across a lot of US cuisine. Service was good, drinks were good. Everyone left very happy. This should be a top destination for any foodie in San Francisco.

My wife and I had a meal that we both still dream about. Burma Love was the bomb. We shared: - Tea Leaf Salad - Fiery Chicken with Tofu - Superstar Shrimp - Coconut Rice The meal was surprisingly affordable ($40 or so) and we loved every last bite of every last item on our plates. As a point of comparison, we hit up their sister restaurant (Burma Superstar) the next night because we enjoyed Burma Love so much. It was a huge letdown. So if you have a choice, Burma Love over Burma Superstar, hands down.

Much larger than its brother "Burma Superstar" so you don't have to wait for hours to get a table. It has almost the same menu. It's not cheap, but it's totally worth! While all dishes are delicious, if you like spicy, you need to order the Chili beef!

Tried for lunch. Tea Leaf salad was good but very small portion of the salad. Came with a small soup and white rice. There was nothing to eat with the rice so you basically had a little soup and small portion of salad and a bunch of white rice. Pretty ridiculous for $23 (including tip). Guess that is San Francisco. Decor was elegant and service professional. Won't be going again due to poor value.

We showed up Sunday night at about 920. Their website says they close at ten, which usually means they don't seat diners after ten, but you can still not feel rushed when you sit down. (And no one said anything at the door.) 1. At about 930, server comes for last call...Okay, we didn't know they were closing soon, but we didn't want another drink, so no problem. 2. We then asked for another serving of rice. "We'll see if the kitchen can do that." Really? If you seat me, I should be able to eat dinner...And have more rice if I need it (especially when the restaurant isn't even slated to close for awhile). 3. The folks at the table next to us were clearly still eating, when the server came by and said "you still working on that?" (Dining out isn't "working" -- but that's another pet peeve for another day.) But they were still eating! 4. While we were still eating, server drops the check on our table and moves on...It wasn't 10 PM...It wasn't close...And usually when a restaurant says they're closing at ten, that means they don't seat people after ten. And there were at least a dozen tables still dining. You could at least wait until the forks stopped moving from food to mouths... Look, the food is great, the lines are always out the door, and maybe the techies who normally frequent the place don't mind rude service from people who don't even pretend to be nice to you. We won't be back, and they won't miss us until the economy turns and they've turned enough people off. (I notice the review below this one makes the same point...)

A perfect place to share a delicious meal with friends or family. Burma Love elevates classic dishes into fun urban fare - the tea leaf salad is a must have, the curries are spicy but not overpowering, and the coconut rice noodles tasty and light. Great selection of wine, cocktails and beer. Reasonably priced at $15-18 an entree. Suggest family style to try more dishes. Several locations in town of the same brand, but Burma Love is located in trendy Mission.

The Burnese cuisine is really tasty and the salad (see picture) as a starter was delicious and highly recommend it. The noodles are tasty as well, service is quick, prices are high as everywhere in SF and there is no Wifi.

Casual restaurant. They are well known for their tea leaf salad. Service was excellent. WE were there about 2:30 for luinch and they nwere not very busy which allowed plenty of time to talk.

Disclaimer: this was my first experience with Burmese food. However, I have tried a wide range of cuisines, and feel I know good food when I have it. And this is it. Every dish was delicious and well-prepared, with fresh and distinctive flavors. Not all that cheap, but well worth it. Second disclaimer: we ate takeout, so I cannot speak to the ambiance or service.

Loved the food. Loved the flavors. This was wasn't just a meal, but an immersion into a culture. I would recommend a particular set of dishes, but I don't want to sway you. We had the tea leaf salad and it was incredible. Even if you aren't much for salads, try it anyway! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Having been to Burma Superstar years ago, I've been dreaming of their popular Rainbow salad ever since I tried it. Burma Love is the sister restaurant located south of Market on Valencia, with an updated, elegant look. There's a bar area that is first come, first served and you can order the full menu. We lucked out walking in after having drinks at Bourbon & Branch. I was told a regular table would have been a 30 minute wait. Luckily we weren't picky and opted to be seated right away. We ordered some teas to start. I went with the honey ginger tea and he had the green tea. Both were served in a small vase with a cup on top. The tea is strong in the ginger department so I also asked for a side of lemon to brighten the flavors. We ordered the rainbow salad to start and the lamb Burmese curry with coconut rice to share. If you're adventurous, the coconut rice is the way to go. It's slightly sweet with a coconut water aroma. It went really well with the slightly gaminess of the lamb. The spices in the curry were delicious and comforting on a chilly evening. The rainbow salad is mixed at the table. I love the presentation of the 22 ingredients. Everything was delicious and I was happy to share it with my +1. He was ecstatic about the food and so was I. It was an excellent choice for dinner.

Burma love Tea leaf salad & Inle Tomato Salad recommended one, was an attraction to visit for an luncheon with family .. Soup is an instant tossed mix of crispy nuts, beans, tomatoes, cabbage, veggies, lettuce with tea leafs .. very tasteful n crunchy one .. Veg Samusa Soup, Rice noodles with tofu, Tomato sauce n Veggies, String beans all are quite similar to Indian serving n liking .. Superstar Veg Fried Rice however was not to the mark, taste n present .. Surely needs improvement .. Lichet n other offered quick good informative service .. good for vegetarians .. decent options available .. One portion is normally good for three to four ..

What a fantastic place! The food was absolutely amazing. We tried a variety of dishes, and highlights included the platha and dip, the sesame organic tofu, the steak kebat and the cocunut rice, which tasted superb with the savory, flavorful curries. The noodles and salad we had were also fresh and great. Nothing but love! Friendly and attentive staff.

On a suggestion by a friend, visited this restaurant 4 days back. 'The Tea leaf salad' is excellent. 'Plastha' is wonderful. And Samosa soup is very good. So if are in San Francisco don't miss this restaurant @ 221,Valencia street.

We had ordered some green tea salad, bread chicken curry, bottle of red wine, aubergine and tofu curries and absolutely loved them all. Very tasty and friendly service. i absolutel loved th greentea salad. that was quite unique. however it is an expensive place (i live in berlin, german and so everything else seems expensive however we were four people and we paid around 150 dollars together)

Valencia Street has a restaurant called Burma Love. I was taken by a friend who has tried their other locations around the Bay Area and highly recommended them. This was my first time and after the meal, I knew this was not the last dine! We shared the Skillet Shrimp appetizer and Garlic Noodles. The dishes were flavorful and large enough for boxes to go. The lunch time crowd was boisterous, but we were able to have a pleasant meal time chat. The servers were attentive, prompt and courteous. For a delightful time and delectable dishes, I highly recommend Burma Love!

Great location to head over to after catching a play or some other San Francisco social. After laughing our butts off at the Global Ice Cream Museum (San Francisco old Bank Pop-up), we made it over to Burma Love. Make reservations. We're happy that we did. What a crowd?! Nice. West Coast Yuppy-Technoids all over the place. Fun for all ages. Noise level up there a bit but only because you have happy patrons. Good selection of wine and beers. You'll enjoy pairing them with all the great dishes. We're into sharing our food. We're all about West Coast Family Style Dining. Best way to try so many pork, beef, and chicken flavorful options.

My daughter and I had dinner last week at this contemporary designed restaurant in the Mission district . The tables are spaced fairly close together which gives you a good idea of what your neighbors are eating. The food is delicious and fresh tasting with a nice mix of textures, favors and visual appeal. You do need a palate that can handle some heat because it is not bland. The large salads comfortably feed 2-3 if you eat it as an appetizer like we did. We ordered a noodle dish for our entree that was very tasty and ample. I will return there on my next visit and my daughter who lives there eats there fairly often.

On last year's trip we did their sister restaurant, Burma Superstar, which was amazing. We were thrilled to learn that Burma Love was within easy walking distance of our hotel this year. Last year we waited an hour for a table (still worth it). This time we were able to be seated immediately. Same great menu, same delicious food. We over-ordered because portions are generous and we couldn't decide. Platha & dip (really a coconut chicken curry) - amazing; salt and pepper calamari - our only disappointment because not "lightly battered" but very battered to the point where we couldn't taste the calamari; the tea leaf salad - a must order, trust us; and garlic noodles with pork - delicious. If we lived here we'd be at one of the Burma restaurants every week, at least.

Visited for dinner whilst in SF after debating between Burma Love and Burma Superstar. We chose this due to the location being closer to our hotel. As it was a Tuesday evening we luckily didn’t have to wait for a table but our waiter could not properly answer questions about the food and was unhelpful when I enquired about purchasing the tea leaf salad kit to takeaway and a t-shirt a couple of the staff were wearing. I was keen to try lots on the menu but as there were only two of us we shared the tea leaf salad which was delicious and the prawn curry, which was supposed to be a traditional recipe but it was a little sweet for my liking.

We opted for it, after a bay cruise near Golden Gate. Place was crowded and we had to wait a little. It was worth, food was excellent for our Indian Palate. Portion were also good, service staff courteous. Overall, a satisfying evening we spent there

It was my first time trying Burmese food I loved it! We ordered TEAIOLI, CHICKEN W FRESH MINT & COCONUT RICE and NAN PIA DOK and everything was very delicious and fresh. If you are in San Francisco this is a must stop. Sometimes there's a long wait, you can wander along Valencia (they'll text you when your table is ready).

We attended the dinner for the release of the new Burma Superstar cookbook. It was a very well run event and the food was surprisingly good even if it was a buffet. Love should be just as good as the sister restaurants.

The food is some of the best Burmese food I’ve ever had. Extremely convenient for take-out but if you want to dine-in, you’ll have to wait in a really long line. If you come at off hours for dinner, there’s less of a chance for a long line.

I really enjoyed my first Burmese food experience! A friend and I were visiting SF, and I saw that its sister restaurant, Burma Superstar, had amazing reviews. Since that was far from where we were staying, we decided to give Burma Love a shot instead, and it did not disappoint. We arrived at around 6:30 pm on a Monday and the dining area was already filled. Since we had to catch a flight later that night, we opted for bar seating, which had no wait. It was empty at the time but that too, filled up very quickly. To share, we ordered the tea leaf salad (fermented tea leaf dish tossed with a crispy mixture of nuts, beans, and garlic with shredded lettuce). Though I would have enjoyed it more without the peanuts, it was still pretty good. It was a refreshing change from the somewhat unhealthy foods we had been eating all weekend. For my main, I went with the Rainbow salad. It boasts of 22 different ingredients, which are all tossed in front you table side. Some of the mix-ins include various types of noodles, veggies, green papaya, and fried garlic, just to name a few. I really enjoyed this dish too. It was a good and filling portion but not too heavy on the stomach. Hopefully next time I'm in SF, I'll get to try Burma Superstar.

Definitely the best Burmese in San Francisco! Delicious food and excellent drinks! I would recommend going with a group of friends so you can try a bit of everything!

It was crowded, but they found seating for the two of us at the bar. Waiter/bartender friendly and helpful. We were visiting from out of town. When we eyed the tea leaf salad of the couple next to us, they promptly offered us some! Friendly and fun. It was so good we returned a few days later to do carryout. This restaurant is good value for cost compared to many restaurants in the Mission.

what a cool, suburban, bustling restaurant. we loved to excellent choice of reasonably priced quality cocktails at the bar before our table was ready. food was tasty and memorable. We went back again! Thanks Burma Love

A great discovery (thanks to our daughter that told us about this restaurant). Great experience with food just as good as Thai food but different. Thought I knew all the best of Asian food but discovered a new tasteful cuisine. Vary savory!

We were looking for somewhere local to where we were staying for dinner! We can thank our lucky stars that we found Burma Love 💗. It was truly one of the most delicious meals I have had in this lifetime. We had the meat samosas, platha bread (handmade & buttery),chicken noodle soup, basil chicken. The flavours were incredible! Wish we had something like this back home in Australia 🇦🇺

This place fills up fast. We arrived at 6:15 on a Thursday night and had no wait. Fifteen minutes later it was packed! We had a party of 6 so we ordered ALOT and sampled from each other. I'm sure the entire menu is fabulous, but here's what we ordered. -Tea Leaf Salad - ABSOLUTE MUST. They will tell you it's enough to share for 3-4 people...but don't believe it. It's so delicious you can't stop eating. I say one salad for two people to share. -Wok tossed broccoli - Delish. Simple. Perfect. -Skillet Shrimp - Good, but spicy. -Salt and Pepper Calamari - I wasn't crazy about this. It had too much breading and there wasn't really any "salt and pepper". Dipping sauce was good. -Chicken with Basil - Great flavor! Must order with Jasmine rice. -Superstar Shrimp - Good flavor, kinda spicy. Should also order with rice. -Shrimp with Eggplant - this was my least favorite. The shrimp was great, but the eggplant was mushy. It was just a textural thing for me. This will definitely be a place I frequent. Still thinking about the Tea Leaf Salad!

We were four and shared appetizers soups and dinners. It was really delicious. I know we had the Tea Leaf Salad, Chicken Balls, and I wish I had a menu to view I just don't remember the other dishes. There was this one dish with a very light round thin disk made of flour and a chicken spicy soup to dip. Tis was the best dish I've had in years. I really don't understand how anyone could give less than 5 stars. We all tried their housemade cocktails. They were interesting made with unusual ingredients. I will certainly go back.

Poor quality food, bad service and unauthentic to say the least, waited for 1 1/2 hours as one of our party said it was great food, the place was noisy and dirty

- atmosphere: kind of cold.. not date material - food: amazing - drinks: strange - have to change: the putting chairs on tables and cleaning floors and turning lights bright the second that the clock turns ten or whatever time they close.. especially when the restaurant still has 3 tables occupied.. not so nice..

Husband knows I love Burmese food so brought me here to try for date night. Yelp had great reviews. But food was lack luster. Definitely had much better Burmese food from a food truck than here. The platha was the dish I was most looking forward to try, yet it turned out to be my biggest disappointment. It was extremely greasy, lacked butter flavor and the layers that a real platha is supposed to taste like. Rather it tastes just like the $2 buck for 6 pieces of platha that I can buy at the frozen food section of a Asian supermarket. Service was non existent. I couldn't believe the many servers that walked by don't even noticed my husband alcoholic beverage was finished. Servers at most restaurants would always notice an empty beverage. After all, we know the biggest profit margin at a restaurant is the bar. To say the least, don't recommend it. I'd suggest sticking to places like the other Burmese restaurants in the Richmond or Tenderloin districts.

I was just at Burma Love today with a friend. The food was so yummy! I loved the cocktails too.. A must go in SF.. If you like a little bit of "hot" spice in your food, Ask for it as the food was tasty but not spicy enough.. Overall, great place!

Daughter took us here for dinner on a Saturday night. We had to wait 45 mins. for a table. Waiting in the lively bar -- great atmosphere - great place to see the bar men make the various specialty drinks and also check out the food coming into the bar. Room can get very warm and noisy. Food was very good - lots of it. Favorites - sesame chicken and "Hawaiian rice". Green bean dish also very good. Watch for items that are spicy hot. Food came to table pretty fast after placing order. Would return again.

This is exactly what I needed after a long flight from Switzerland, squeezed in a tiny seat, crammed with 300 people eating airplane food for 12 hours--a heart- opening, senses-provoking, spicy, warm and filling meal. Definitely got the blood flowing again. Great atmosphere, and friendly staff. Food is not only visually appealing but tastes good too. A bit on the fusion side, but am not a purist. In that spirit, try out the Burmese Margherita before the evening's out.

We tried to get to Mint54 next door but was long wait, we decided to walk to this place which few yards aways. They were packed too, but the hostess found us a spot on the bar. The bar tender was great. He knows how to make drinks. The food was great too. I did not know this place is Burma food. It was fusion like style and I liked it. Nice place to check.

We didn't made reservations, we choose To wait 20 minutes. Or we could have eaten across the bar section. We ordered a coke and another drink. I only got a half coke, rest of the glass was filled with ice and that's not ok by me: either you ask me if I want ice in the drink plus you give me the whole can for which I paid, or you just give me the whole can without ice. That was my only comment on the service. Because they all work hard over there and friendly. And as for the food, it's really nice. We had their special salat and I hag chicken with mango. Both yummie. And when I ordered another coke I explained what happened.and the waiter said: but you will get one refill. Then I was satisfied again. So overall: nice place!

In SF, you are never short of options for Burmese food. Between Burma Superstar, Rangoon Ruby, Yamo, Burmese Kitchen, etc., it's easy to be overwhelmed with all the choices. Well, fear no more. Burma Love is wonderful, and it's in a great location. The interior of the restaurant is very elegant, and they have a nice bar adjacent to the restuarant where folks can wait for a table. Each dish is well-plated and delicious, combining the authenticity of Burmese food with the finesse of a fine dining establishment. Must haves: 1. Platha - bread and dip together are amazing 2. Tea leaf salad - a Burmese must-have dish. The tea leaf flavor is exquisite and it's a great starter to share 3. Chicken with fresh mint - when I first saw this on the menu, I was a little skeptical. But the waiter encouraged me to try it, and I was pleasantly surprised with how the mint paired with the chicken. It's excellent with coconut rice! 4. Bun Tay Kauser - a really tasty curry noodle dish All in all, I would highly recommend this place. I love that I don't have to go out into the sunset and wait for an absurd amount of time for excellent Burmese food.

We decided to try this Burmese place as it look very busy. Although they don't accept reservations....a call 30mins prior would do the trick. The waiting bar area was nice place to wait for the table. The restaurant it quite noisy as the tables were very close and acoustics is not that great. The food was yummy..we tried the tea salad, spicy chicken, lamb curry, ginger beef or pork? and some spicy noodles. Wide variety of flavors...would definitely come back again :-)

For real, Burmese food will be the highlight of your trip. This is a MUST spot for food lovers! Get the tea leaf salad and then a lot of other dishes. Don't forget to get their fresh coconuts to sip on while you enjoy your meal.

We frequent this restaurant often when we are in the Mission District. Their tea leaf salad, while not the same as you would have in Myanmar, nevertheless is excellent. We also had the chicken kebat, as well as cocoanut rice and a glass of greener veltliner. As always, everything was excellent. Service is good, too. Great food at a great price. Who could ask for more?

If you have never had burmese food, run to burma love. And if you have, run there, too!!! Simply outstanding food. very creative and different. the tea salad is indescribable.

I wish we found this place earlier in our trip as we would have made a 2nd reservation! The "Tea Leaf" Salad is a must try! Everything we ordered was so flavorful and we almost wanted to order food to go so that we could eat it on the way to the plane the next morning!

Awesome vegetarian food! The noodles and rice dishes are yummy! The service was great too...we will be going back!

Looong wait even with reservations. So noisy I wish we all knew sign language. Food really wonderful, prompt (good, since we were starving by then). Waiter was personable and helpful.

Heard so much about Burma Love and doesn't disappoint. Tea leaf salad, vegetable samosa, fried tofu were all spectacular apps. Each was unique, fresh and delicious. Chicken with noodles was also fantastic; tender chicken. Proper cocktails, loved either mezcal drink. Great retail area with lots of little boutiques.

Our intro to Burmese cuisine. Dishes were fresh cooked veggies with your choice of meat, if desired. Flavors were exotic and a little spicy...depending. You must try the Platha and dip. Service was outstanding.

it is surely a noisy place as it does no have any furniture which absorbs sound/noise. you do have to raise your voice to be heard. but forget this inconvenience and start your meal by going to the bar and grabbing a few drinks on the table itself as the dining table wont be ready for around 30-40 mins. start with the signature samusa soup / appetizers/ salads and gradually migrate to the entrees which are just smacklingly delicious. end it with its signature dessert of mango with sticky coconut rice and you are done. a place for all burmese cuisine lovers.

Fast and unpretentious but the food was really special. We particularly liked the tea leaf salad and the mango salad. Both were prepared / tossed at the table. We also had a sweet and sour chicken dish, as well as the coconut rice -- both of which were terrific.

The food here far exceeded my expectations. Absolutely delicious! Be sure to try the tea leaf salad. This place is often busy, so expect a wait if you arrive during dinner time. There is a nice bar area for passing time while waiting for a table.

This a delicious, hip, and bustling restaurant with a large and happening bar area. The service is attentive and speedy. The food is incredible; if you enjoy Southeast Asian cuisine, this is a must. Interesting flavor and texture combinations abound. Don’t miss the tea leaf salad and the Bun Tay Kauser The only downside is the 60-90 minute wait for a table and the place is first come first serve.

Our cousins chose this restaurant for a family get together! The menu was extensive and adventuresome! We enjoyed several dishes served family style--the large lazy Susan spin all evening til each plate was finished! Favorite were the calamari and samsusas for appetizers, special house salad and garlic green beans, curried duck and chicken w/ mint and lamb kabit! (Sp?) the "spice" was perfect--just enough "kick" without overpowering the flavor of the dish!

When visiting family who live in San Francisco, we get to see how the locals eat, and this is one of their favorite spots. There were four of us, and we ordered two salads - one was the rainbow - that were tossed at the table for us, and really complemented each other. Then a soup whose name I forget - delicious vegetarian. We enjoyed the chicken with basil, while the order two shared a Fiery Tofu with vegetables. Great imaginative food with ok service, given the crowds they were dealing with.

There was a lot of choice on the menu and there were so many things that we liked so we decided to enter the restaurant. Unfortunately we couldn't.. There was a queue of 45 minutes and you couldn't reserve so that was a little problem to begin with. When we got in, we noticed that is was very noisy. The waitress was very kind and helpful. After 35 minutes the first member of our group got his meal. Then 10 minutes later another meal came. We were with 7 in our group, so some of them already started to eat while the others were still waiting... The food was nice but very spicy. That kinda ruined our dinner. I'll say that my expectations were a little bit to high for this restaurant. It was a let down.

A vey nice restaurant. Food is quite similar to thai food but with a lot of garlic. Try Laphet, a salad with texture and flavour! A great first experience with this culinary!

We came by with my two grown daughters and young grandchild (who presented a bit of a challenge due to attention span) -- and it worked. Great Burmese cuisine -- we really loved the lamb dish and, of course, the tea leaf salad. Also the rainbow salad and, honestly, everything else we ordered. Yes, it was pretty crowded on a Thursday evening, and loud but the service was great and the food was a delight.

When they first opened I thought Oh great another Asian Rest. Once I tried it.... wow. It is amazing.

I have had my fair share of Burmese food, including in Myanmar. I think it is one of the most intricate cuisines that often gets lumped into the other SE Asian cuisines but deserves its own recognition. It reminds me more of Indian/Sri Lankan food rich in taste and exquisite in flavor. Burma love brought it all together for me very nicely. Everything on the menu is great and the portion sizes are very generous. The roti canai/parata was amazing! Try their teas as well. Don't forget the tea-leaf salad... always a winner.

I wanted to (Burma) love this place at most really like but here we are at 3 stars. It had all the making for something awesome: the ambiance is lively and energetic, the menu is extensive and fruitful with lots of tantalizing options, and the drink list rocks and there is a huge bar to enjoy it from. But it came up a bit short. The clientele at the bar was a bit intrusive and space hogging and literally encroached themselves onto others so they couldn't easily take a seat at the bar. The bartender could have taken a bit of control and evened out the bar and asked folks to make room for the people to use the vacant seats instead of someone leg and arm spreading to the point people can't take advantage of bar room. The bartender needs to own the bar area. Not let the rude people dominate. Once we got room at bar, we opted to eat there vs waiting another 30-40 mins for a table. We ordered the tea salad to start which was delicious! Loved the composition of freshness and differing textures that made this salad bright and satisfying. I was very excited for the rest of the meal as this was great intro. Well then we needed to wait another 35-40 mins after ordering the rest of our items for them to come. It took forever! We just sat there and the when you're at the bar, you tend to get a little faster service, and it was only two of us. So it shouldn't have taken nearly and hour before our full order came out. The bartender didn't ask how we were doing, didn't ask if we needed anything else. She just paced back and forth and was pretty cold. Once our food came out, we asked the server if we could get fresh plates from our first course and he did a sigh and seemed frustrated by that request...really? We got them but why be annoyed? The food had highs and lows. Mint chicken and coconut rice were deliciousness! Wow! That coconut flavor was lovely! The essence of coconut with just enough sweet so it tasted authentic and not artificial. On the low end, the garlic chili shrimp which was listed as spicy wasn't at all. It was borderline fishy, and the "batter" or whatever coating was on outside left the shrimp feeling rubbery inside and was really gross. The flavor didn't come together at all...no garlic or chili. And the wok fried broccoli was glorified steamed or blanched broccoli with no sauce or seasoning. Where was the garlic it was supposed to be seasoned with? Why isn't it nicely sautéed? Yeah. That was really bad.

We were excited to visit the restaurant given the good reviews. Unfortunately the food was mediocre and the service was terrible. Drinks appeared after the main courses came and some came after they gave us the check. We left a bag behind and the hostess could not have been less helpful and disinterested. Overrated.

I can't stop coming back here, can you? Tea leaf salad and mint chicken with rice, just the most delicious meal ever. Top it off with a delicious cocktail and fun atmosphere, and you're golden.

Decided to grab lunch here while attending a conference at Moscone. Had always wanted to try Burmese food and this location is not too far from convention center. Sat at the bar and started chatting with Ashwini, who was managing that area. She recommended the pork belly with ginger and chilli. Paired it with their own brew- Burma Ale. Dish was very flavorful with a kick from the chilis. Pork belly was well cooked, soft and succulent. Had a side salad which was fresh and also had some kick due to jalapenos and also included a side of rice. Overall, it was a flavorful and enjoyable lunch. I would go back when in town.

The food here is fantastic. Well worth the wait. But the room is very hard surfaced so the noise level is high. The tables are close together.

we came as a large group and they were very accommodating to us. We shared many dishes, all of which were excellent. I'd definitely return.

My wife and I visited during our trip to San Francisco. The food here was undeniably very good and we both enjoyed our meal to a point. What spoilt the evening and then some was the fact that because we were tourists and travelling from abroad, Uber was not working on my phone. I politely tried to get the attention of a waiter cleaning down the (unoccupied) table next to us, once we had paid for our meal. He raised his head, acknowledging he had heard me and then went back to wiping the table down and ignored us for the next 20/30 seconds. The maitre d then came over and asked what the issue was and I asked if she could please order us a taxi back to our hotel. Her exact words were ‘ummm I don’t think I know how to do that’ while grimacing and acting most awkwardly. She didn’t offer to help in some other way even though I explained the situation with Uber and so my wife and I were forced to leave and stand on the street in the cold at about 10pm maybe 3 miles from our hotel and it took about 15-20 mins to hail a taxi. This was the fakest, most insincere hospitality either of us have experienced in 4 trips to the US and a really ugly experience. Essentially once we’d paid and tipped they wanted nothing to do with us. Hospitality it was not!

Just make sure you have a reservation otherwise you may end up waiting for two hours. Excellent food and friendly staff. Try black rice pudding for dessert and of course the tea salad. Everything on the menu is just awesome.

Our lunch at Burma Love was delightful. Good service, and great recommendations. The famous tea leaf salad provided a healthy portion of greens and exotic flavors. Such a nice place to eat at a fair price for some unusual cuisine.

I visited this Burmese Restaurant during a long weekend. Awesome place with amazing Burmese food. The mango salad, chicken curry and the roti were very delicious. The green tea with the entire meal was a bliss. It's a gr8 place to visit and explore this cuisine. The only flip side is its always noisy/ crowded and the wait time is about 30 mins. But the food was worth the wait👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Wonderful evening with outstanding service - very well staffed - and superb food, fresh, generous, and healthy

They treat you like they know they don’t need you. One day they will. Excellent food but better at superstar Try better guys we are actually people

Four of us went for lunch and shared five different dishes; they're all yummy. Service was also on point.

went in there for dinner..place was full..went next day for lunch and it was fully packed..how ever they gave us table within 15 min..amazing Burmese + Indian Vegetarian food

Three of us had dinner there after a day in the Moscone Center, excellent anodyne to a day spent looking at computers. Hard to add a lot to the hundreds of glowing reviews of this place, so I will echo the major themes in other reviews - wonderful eclectic SE Asian food, adequate service, can be noisy, and get there early or be prepared to wait. We had the platha bread and curry dipping sauce as an appetizer and the tea leaf salad, curried duck and spicy chicken noodle dish. All excellent. The tea leaf salad was for me a novelty - greens and lots of crunchy ingredients anchored by a fermented tea leaf paste that is apparently a staple in Burma (to me, forever, it will be Burma, having listened to my mother recite Kipling as a child). The duck was tasty, with a sauce to die for (and considering it had coconut milk as a base, you might - but you will die happy). The only caution I would note is that the duck is a bit tough at times, and tearing the meat off the whole legs that are presented in a wonderful sauce can get a bit messy. The coconut rice side dish was wonderful - lightly scented with coconut. Another keeper for future trips to SF. I don't remember the exact amount of the check, but it was pretty reasonable for what we got.

Really terrific Burmese cuisine, great wines & cocktails, good service. It is very loud so be forewarned. We went on the early side for dinner (about 6:30) and by 7pm every table was taken. The "tea leaf salad" was incredible!
A must!
Great place to share dishes and the food was indeed very good! We were not that impressed by the tea leaf salad that everyone else seems impressed by. A must if you're in San Francisco!
