First stop every time I visit my home away from home. Doesn’t matter what you order. It’s all amazing.

When you eat GF you usually get a limited menu but not here. We were a group of 3 and ordered everything to share cause there was so much to try. Almost makes me want to live in Portland again.

Try this place out! We had meatball pho and the beef pho. You can get a larger bowl for $2. So flavorful! There’s a homage hoisin that enhances the flavor even more. They have a 48+ hr process for their brother and it’s evident! Super cheap at that- $20 for dinner!

Good food, GLUTEN FREE SPECIALIST! Tai spin Pho, Teriyaki, nice Asian variety. They have Tai without the blast of Currie, or with.. Restaurant is clean comfortable has a full bar and a light local regular crowd in the evening. My wife loved the Pho even though she doesn't have to eat gluten free. Food was well prepared, staff is very nice. Good for family or adults casual Asian cafe vibe. They do hand made bone broth and are proud of the work its a couple of day process and it shows in the food.

Best Pho of my life. Bone broth comes for 48hrs made from fresh ingredients homemade housing sauce. Don't miss this place. Best Vietnamese food. Highly recommended

We wanted to get something simple for dinner, and this place was just around the block from we were staying. We decided to come here based on both Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews. It was a good visit. We were greeted warmly as soon as we stepped in, and given a table by the window. We were only one of 3 tables that weeknight, so it was very quiet. The room is a more done-up version of what a typical Vietnamese restaurant would look like. The server (possibly the owner) recommended we get their 48hr pho as well as their Pan Fried Rice, so that's what we ordered: - 48hr Meatball Pho - Good. I've had a lot of pho in my time, and I would say the 48hr is overhyped. Pho broth is normally made in 8-12 hours, but cooking it for 4x the length doesn't make it taste 4x better. I would guess that after 18-24 hours, you've pretty much maxed out what flavor and nutrients can be extracted from the bones That being said, the broth is very clean and uses very little other spices or flavorings (like fish sauce) to enhance the flavor, so it's very good in that respect. I found the noodles to be a bit on the soft side, and broke easily. The meatballs wered efintely homemade, but still good. The homemade hoisin sauce is a nice touch. - Pan Fried Rice - Very good. This was more of the surprise dish to us as we weren't completely sure what were we expecting, but is bascially a standard fried rice dish but some the rice is crisped-up (like Korean bibimbap served in a hot stone bowl or Spanish paella). Good flavor, good texture. Service was very very personable, and the server/owner was there to assist us all way through making sure we were happy. Plenty of street parking available on a weekday evening. Overall, a nice visit. Good food and exceptional level of service for this type of restaurant. I would be willing to come to try other dishes on another visit.

We are from Florida that doesn't have many gluten friendly restaurants which is hard since I have celiac's disease. This place is a dedicated gluten free Asian restaurant which is impossible to find! My husband got the Pad Thai and loved it, and I got the chicken fried rice and it was delicious. I also got their pork egg rolls and I want to go back and get more! I haven't been able to have them in 5 years. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you are gluten intolerant or have celiac's disease. We will definitely come back!

Awesome early dinner. I was looking for a good place to eat on my way to see a show at the Roseland. I had the Sesame Tamarind Rang with Tofu, and a Coconut Thai Iced Tea. Medium was a tiny bit spicy for me, but it was mostly pepper flakes I could move off to get just the right amount of bite.

These folks take their broth very seriously... and it shows! They reduce the broth over 48 hours and the broth is very complex and makes the Pho so good! Located in the Pearl District, has lunch there and I’ll do so again at my next trip to Portland.

Went midweek and there were four in our Group; whole restaurant had maybe 15-20 customers in it - but only a few people working and one order-taker. Took forever for them to take our order. We also each ordered a drink and they brought 3 drinks immediately but our 4th person didn’t get her drink until the END of the meal (like over an hour later - even though we kept asking about it frequently). They also brought our food orders out a different times - with a lag time of 10 mins between one person getting their order and the others waiting - which made it very awkward and uncomfortable. All the food on the other hand - was very good. But there are plenty of other very good Asian (and other food genres) both in the Pearl District as well as downtown Portland that have just as good of food and much better service which we should all expect. This place unfortunately disappointed us

Yum!!! Finally a great restaurant in this space which is temporarily hard to find and get to due to the large constructstion project. I've only had their Pho, but the menu looks great and the dishes I've seen in the dining room look wonderful. For lunch I've had their simple Beef Pho which is under the "soup" section and only $6. and 50 cents extra for to go. I was perfect and delicious. I just had the Spicy Hue Pho and it's fantastic. My head is wet in the best of ways. Two types of beef and a wonderful spicy lemon grass beef broth. I highly recommend give Butterfly Belly a try. It's worth looking for.

I have an odd food allergy - no onion and no garlic - and the owner guided me to dishes I can eat!! Amazing! There was none of the "let me go check with the kitchen" and cross your fingers they actually read the ingredient lists for ALL of the sauces. I had the Pad Thai with chicken and fish sauce. Oh, and it was delicious! I'll gladly be back!

Our daughter is diagnosed celiac, and this was the first and ONLY restaurant we have been able to order without worry. The food was amazing. The pork egg rolls are something my daughter thought she would never have again. Pho, Rice, Chicken Wings ALL Fantastic. The owners were amazing. This place should be featured on Guys Dinner's Drive ins and Dives.

Excellent food, excellent service. We were greeted and sat immediately. The menu was thoroughly explained which was very helpful. Not your average Vietnamese restaurant. They take a great deal of care in producing thoughtful, nutritious food. Nice surprise.

A group of nine of us had lunch here. The food was very good (those who had the bone broth pho LOVED it) and the owner was humorous, attentive and fun. This was an excellent experience all around.

we arrived and were told to pick any table. we were given menus. two other couples came in. we sat there waiting for a server. there were three servers working. The other two couples got service before us. we sat there about 15 mins. before we were able to order. Finally ordered....Don't go if your on your lunch break.... Then another 15 mins went by before we got our drinks which were HORRIBLE... watered down ice tea.. As we were sitting WAITING we both noticed brown varnish on our hand and clothes. The New varnished table were still dripping from underneath.. Hoping it will come out. and the lunch bill came to 40 bucks $$$ How does lunch cost 40 bucks these days. Maybe the 18 percent tip in included in the meal price. Not going BACK.... If your doing take out be prepared to pay for your container. They want you to bring your own container. Who does that. One solo man walked out...

We normally LOVE asian fare and the ambiance was quirky but the food was terrible! Maybe we ordered the wrong items but the egg rolls were so greasy, the noodles were covered in bad tasting oil with barely any vegetables in the dish and the pad thai was flavorless. Perhaps we should have ordered the pho with their attention to the bone broth. Maybe they were having a bad night but I would not go there again.

100% gluten free, MSG free, and preservative free! This restaurant is AMAZING!! From the staff, to the food, this place is where it’s at! They have a great selection of dishes, everything is hand made in house, right down to their sauces. Their Phò is so good, it’s out of this world! They cook their bone broth for 48-96 hrs, which is typically unheard of! The portions are generous and the price is reasonable. I plan on making this restaurant my number one choice of dining choices when visiting Portland! TRY IT, you won’t be disappointed!!

We give Butterfly Belly five stars. This is a great litle asian restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and authentic. The food and service are simply exceptional. Our dinner at Butterfly Belly has been one of the highlights of our trip to Portland.

What a wonderful little place. True, they have got a lot of delicious meals, but what really makes them stand out is the warm service and genuine hospitality. Owner will come to you and crack a lot of jokes, and feel you truly welcome at their place - this is what every restaurant should be about.

We were a bit hesitant to go inside the restaurant at first. It was near closing, it was almost empty, the sign outside was not that appealing and we just stood there waiting to be seated for a few mins with no one attending to us. We were about to leave when I heard this high pitched voice from this petite Vietnamese woman saying hello and how can she help us? It was late we were hungry and we just decided to do it with much hesitation. We were so glad that we did. Looks can be deceiving and the most delicious meals does not necessarily have to be served in a silver platter with a 5 star ambiance. That is what we learned from this place. If you want pretentious service, tiny servings and a high price tag, this is not your place. If you want authentic Vietnamese food then you have a winner right here. We never really enjoyed Vietnamese food until we went to Vietnam and tried the real deal. We are from Chicago and the Vietnamese restaurants here are not impressive at all so you PDX peeps are lucky to have this one. The food is as authentic as what you will try in Vietnam. I had the chicken curry w noodles and it really was like being transported back in Saigon. I am a healthy eater so I don't care for msg, preservatives and all the crap they use to make food taste good but is bad for you. This place does none of that. The food is excellent! Beyond the food, the service here is pretty special. This place is owned by Min (not sure if I spelled this right) and his sister. These 2 work so hard to run this business and they do it the right way. No short cuts no bs, no games. We spent quite a bit of time learning about what they have gone through and what their challenges are and it gives you more appreciation for what they do. I felt guilty whining about the 3 min wait standing by the door not being seated while she was working all the tables that night and running back and forth in the kitchen. This woman despite how busy she is, takes the time to talk to the customers. Not small talk but genuine conversations. Where are we visiting from? What was the other table celebrating? What do the customers think of the food? She is so honest with her recommendations, does not oversell at all. To the brother and sister team who run this place. Please continue to do what you do. Focus on how authentic, fresh and natural your food is as well as how you treat your customers and you will continue your success. I will be stopping by the next time I am in PDX.

Butterfly Belly has survived the Hotel construction around it, which is now complete, and took the time to remodel the interior. It's wonderful. Still small and feeling like family and serving wonderful food. They now have a full bar, craft beers on draft and side walk tables across from the part.

Can’t believe I was able to get %100 gluten free pho! The beef and broth were amazing. I would highly recommend. Indoor seating and bathroom available. They seemed to do a lot of delivery. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone gluten free and looking for Vietnamese food.

Visited for lunch one afternoon after reading it did gluten free pho. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the waiter was SUPER attentive (if anything it was a little overwhelming but I guess us British people aren’t used that kind of service) - we decided to have the 48hr bone broth with brisket and share some egg rolls. Although the restaurant is 100% gluten free it doesn’t say this anywhere on the menu (which as a coeliac usually concerns me) but we double checked everything with the waiter. We waited a while for the Pho, but it was piping hot and delicious, the broth was incredible and the brisket was perfect. The egg rolls were crispy and light, and the sauce they came with was perfect. Their homemade hoisin sauce was excellent (its been a long time since I could have hoisin!). A great place for coeliacs visiting Portland, absolutely delicious food! Lots of options for celiacs and no cross contamination.

The only flavor that came through was salt. I wanted more of the star anise and ginger. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't great.

I went here with a friend while in town on business, and I was concerned that I'd not find something good on the menu, since I'm not a Pho-fan necessarily...but wow, I was happily wrong. Huge menu, great waitstaff, delicious food. The egg rolls are alone worth the trip. This is consciously-made food, and it shows. Thank you!

Food here was outstanding. Appetizers of hay sticks and butterfly tofu were really good and the pho broth was perfectly flavored. Nice place to have a casual meal. Only negative is seating was a bit cozy.

Egg rolls were light and crispy. Get the Co'm Chiên Ap Châo Vhay. Best fried rice ANYWHERE. Curry was yummy too. Choice of protein and heat level, so you can personalize how you want. DELICIOUS. Best of all, the Vietnamese wait staff happily serenade you with karaoke while you pho. AWESOME!

Loooooved this place! I am a gluten free vegan, and one of the friends I was with is allergic to dairy. Not only are they a dedicated gluten-free restaurant (along with preservative- and MSG-free as well), but their menu is also well-labeled and they are able to veganize many items as long as you let them know (menu has a note for vegans to mention dairy/egg-free when ordering), and my goodness if that food wasn't to die for. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. If you are a fan of Thai cuisine, this little hole-in-the-wall find is a true gem, you need to stop in!

If you love pho AT ALL or are interested in trying some, look no further than Butterfly Belly. While the appearance of this little gem is not awe inspiring, its cute little bistro feel (obviously cared for and loved by its owners) will not let you down. This broth is AMAZING and worth travel to give it a go. Even the simple beef pho is exceptionally satisfying. An average person will be full and happy with the regular serving (or splurge and get the large if you're famished). Our group members have been to Vietnam and would argue that this place is as good or even better than what was had while travelling. High praise for such a hole in the wall establishment in Portland, Oregon!

The food is simple yet really good! We came here twice before leaving Portland. The staff is very nice and explained their menu in details.

Everything that is offered on the Menu is gluten free. Celiac friendly completely. They even offer a variety of gluten free beer. The egg rolls were crispy and delicious, filled with the right amount of pork and veggies. I have never been able to eat a bowl of Pho or any Asian noodle and felt like I didn't have to worry. This was beyond amazing. I wished we would have found this place sooner, but will be back when we visit Portland again.

Finding gluten free Asian food is always a chore, with soy sauce being used in everything. This place was FANTASTIC!!! Everything was delicious and we didn’t have to worry about any cross contamination because EVERYTHING they serve is gf!! Would most definitely return!

Loved this little restaurant. We had the egg rolls and they were fantastic. We also enjoyed the Pad Thai and Teriyaki Chicken. It was quick service and a laid back atmosphere.

First time eating Vietnamese. I enjoyed the complete favor of the pho. my wife had fried rice with shrimp. this was also good but something you could of had a lots of restaurants. place was clean but had a rambling dinning area. gluten free kitchen by using the ingredients of the region.
Gluten Free Dedicated
I hadn't eaten Vietnamese food since going gluten free seven years ago. Here is a (Pan Asian) place where you don't have to worry about cross contamination because it is ALL gluten free. The lettuce wraps and egg rolls (!) were to die for. I didn't care for the special beef pho but my husband loved it. Our daughter loved her vegetable fried rice. Delicious and a short walk from downtown.
