Did not disappoint my expectations

By Dayton B |

So I saw this place on diners drive ins and dives and my fiancé and I love going to Guy Fieri’s recommendations, he has yet to let us down and this was no different! I had targeted this place on our brief trip through Atlanta. The atmosphere was great, my mom loved the place it was right up her alley and taste, as did my fiancé. I met the owner Suzanne and she was very nice and appreciative. I am always up for some good chicken and waffles and had heard the chicken was amazing and it was just that, very crispy and juicy. The waffle was light and fluffy! My fiancé had pancakes and over easy eggs (the eggs were done perfect). My mom had the lobster omelette... I also had a biscuit with blueberry basil jam, and I’m not big on anything other than grape jelly, but it was good, also the red pepper jelly was great! Overall we all loved it and would recommend it to anyone

Very good.

Went on a Saturday morning around 10, it was pretty crowded we waited 30 minutes for a table. Chicken biscuit was amazing, grits were amazing. Very filling too. Staff was nice, atmosphere is cool and laid back. Great place, will definitely return!

Checking out the scene at Buttermilk Kitchen. I loved the truffle potatoes and made from scratch biscuits. Follow @ServingLooksATL 🍑 for more tasty spots!

Worth the hype!

By TXMARTINS |

Though I would avoid this place like a plague on a busy weekend, it is a wonderful Atlanta restaurant with biscuits that are just divine! During the week you can often find a place or two left to park and eat at the bar or have a short wait for a table. The chicken biscuit with red pepper jelly is a fun twist on an American favorite. The pimento cheese grits are great & the coffee options really good. The standout remains the biscuits. The only thing we would change is for the jelly to be raspberry or strawberry (many in our group did not favor the blueberry) but the biscuits are so buttery & perfectly flaky many of us just ate them plain.

Great Spot

By haykristin |

This place has an adorable, comfortable farmhouse feel! The food and coffee were delicious. We ordered the short stack pancakes (which was more than enough for 2 people), biscuits, and eggs - all so yummy! Highly recommend. A bit pricey for the amount of food, but comparable to other restaurants in the area.

Fabulous Breakfast

By Jeanne B |

We went here for brunch on a rainy Saturday. It is hard to find a parking spot but we were lucky and got a great one. The tables are kind of packed in together, but we were comfortable. Neither my husband nor I wanted anything "fancy," though there were plenty of excellent options, and I had bacon and eggs and he had sausage and eggs. They were both DELICIOUS.. People all around were eating lunch, too, and all the food was served in generous portions and appeared to be devoured. We will definitely go there again when we are in Atlanta.

Sunday Brunch

By Rachel E |

Amazing breakfast- definitely recommend the biscuits with red pepper jelly. Definitely would go again!

Over the Top Expensive!

By Tonimc2015 |

Our daughter brought us here for a Sunday Brunch. First of all, it's best if you make REZ before just showing up. Otherwise, prepare for a long wait. I loved the cheese pimento grits. I also had the chicken & biscuit. It was just ok. I think the winner may have been my daughter's French Toast, however. This place charges for every tiny little extra possible. It was so expensive, I didn't even order coffee. It's over the top expensive. Visiting once was enough for me. I don't need to go back. Not sure what the attraction is here, but I'll let somebody else pay for it.

Really great breakfast

By Lauren K |

Three of tried Buttermilk Kitchen this morning for the first time. There are crowds on the weekend, but other businesses allow you to use their parking lots. Check the restaurant website for a list of where you can and cannot park. On Saturday, we arrived at 9am and there was already a 30 min wait, but you can buy coffee and either wait inside or outside the restaurant. They take your cell number and name and text you when your table is ready. We tried the biscuit basket, eggs, grits, bacon, fruit, and sausage. All were great and very fresh. Coffee was strong and very good. They also have teas and juice. Some people around us got chicken and waffles which also looked good. I don't think you could go wrong. We will definitely be back. Just a note, they do not take reservations and all members of your party have to be there before they will seat you. The prices are a bit high, but worth it. The total for the 3 of us was $55 without tip.

Food was pretty good; summer camp vibe

By Edward's Assessments |

The food was pretty good; I don't like the old house vibe. The waitstaff was really great. The parking was not good; very tight with little maneuverability. I'd definitely go back because there looks like a lot I'd like to try, but would definitely try to go off-peak.

Best breakfast - Ever!! Yes, EVER!!!

By BethChicago |

Went on a Sunday and had to wait about 60min. We were warned and were told it would be worth it. It was!!! First off, the people are so darn nice! the waiters and the host, gotta love that southern hospitality. You can get a beverage in the little counter/bar area to sip while you wait. Normally I will never wait more than 20min for any restaurant but my husband insisted. Please note that the Sunday menu is different than the weekly menu. My tip - Go on a Sunday!!! Possibly the BEST chicken and waffle biscuit sandwich, as well as the stuffed sausage blend burger with maple aoli. Heaven!!! Oh, and the grits....not just any old grits but Pimento Cheese grits which are the grits for all other grits to envy. Hail to these grits!!! This comes from a non grit eating northerner. I had to return one more time during the week to get more. And wait, I am not done...the biscuits!! These large slightly crispy on the outside super flaky on the inside, moist and tender biscuits are divine with the pepper jelly and the blueberry basil jelly. They will box you up a package of 3 with spreads - to go. Yep.....you know it - it took some home on the plane. I will be back one day Buttermilk Kitchen, until we meet again... XOXOXO

Long overdue - what an awesome experience and meal

By MarkC5612 |

Growing up in Southern California, the thought of eating Buttermilk Kitchen’s famous/to die for chicken biscuit slowed me from trying as it’s just not my palate. What a mistake! The food and the charm of the restaurant is amazing. I had short rib hash (branching out...) with two scrambled eggs and it was the bomb! Because it was so good I decided to try a singular pancake. Light, amazing, and just for good measure they heat the maple syrup! Charm of the place is super cool as an old plantation house with inside seating well as a screened in porch. Place gets super busy on the weekend. Don’t fret - you can grab a seat at the bar and chow down. Highly Highly Recommend!

Buttermilk Kitchen is a rare place that exceeds its high ratings.

By cowbulls |

This restaurant is in an old house. The layout of the rooms has been preserved to capture the old country home atmosphere. The waitstaff was very friendly, polite, engaged, and efficient. Parking is the only negative, and it is a big negative. There are a few parking spots in front, a few in back, and a few more on the weekend when the nearby business is closed. We had to drive around several times to find a parking spot. We ordered the biscuit basket as an appetizer, and it set the tone for the best breakfast I can remember. The biscuits were easily the best biscuit I had ever eaten. The biscuits are giant and perfectly cooked with a buttery crunch. The biscuits are crisp on the outside but moist, fluffy, and delicious inside. The blueberry-basil jam & the pepper jelly elevate the biscuits. One of us had the folded egg frittata for main courses, and I was told it was delicious. Another ordered the Friday-only waffle burger, and it was exceptional. Two of us ordered the build your breakfast platter. The eggs were great, and the sides were outstanding. The hashbrown fritters were another 5-star item.

Great weekday Brunch

By StevenHScher |

We had brunch here with friends. We sat on the covered heated patio on a rainy morning. It was nice & toasty warm. I had the breakfast platter ($14), which included 2 eggs, 2 sides, & a biscuit with blueberry jam. I opted for bacon & multigrain toast for my sides. The bacon was amazing, the biscuit was excellent & the jam unreal. My wife had the lox plate ($15). It came with cream cheese & bagel. The lox was amazing, it is prepared in beets so the color is beet red. The lox was so good. A nice size serving. Our friend had the chicken biscuit ($15), which looked wonderful. Our other friend had a stack of pancakes ($11), which were huge & delicious. He also ordered the maple bacon side ($4.50). The food could not have been fresher or tastier. Our service was a bit slow at times. On refills of coffee our friends had, it was cold. It took about 15 minutes to get a replacement cup. Other than that it was an exceptional meal.

Good as advertised

By Mike M |

Went on a Saturday morning at 8:30. If you wait any longer you can anticipate a good wait to get a table. Egg/biscuit / bacon jam sandwich =outstanding. Hash Brown potato’s = outstanding .. are you getting the idea. Everything is great would definitely recommend but get there early!

Meh!

By Louis Vera |

I was expecting it to be great but I was disappointed. The coffe is french press, which makes the coffee keep it’s acidity. In other words, it isn’t a coffee for everyone. I did like it, but wasn’t the greatest ever tasted. I ordered buttermilk pancakes which without the syrup, they are tasteless. Also ordered the Breakfast Platter with pouched eggs and a truffled potato. Needed to build my own plate to have something special, which I’m not complaining since that was what I ordered. I’m sure there are other places to visit which can give you a better experience.

It’s Amazing!

By AtlFolks |

Cute place with good service. The food is just amazing - big flavor and big portions, with a calorie count to match. The buttermilk biscuit is ginormous and fluffy, well complimented with butter and blueberry jam. I had an omelet that was sweet, smoky, cheesy, and creative. It’s not an inexpensive meal, but you get what you pay for and it’s worth every penny. The parking situation is a challenge, and I took a chance and parked in another businesses lot - they do need to figure this out.

Overpriced

By Franklin F |

This place is waaaay to expensive for what you get, not a great breakfast restaurant. Crowded tables, really loud. Long wait times.

Greatness

By Kelli D |

Great breakfast place! Pimento Grits were incredible! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was charming.

Best breakfast

By Ayrika G |

Atlanta has countless tempting pictures luring you in, but for some reason this one just it out a little bit more. We decided to go on a Friday morning and it was a 40 minute wait. Worth every second. They have a cute little porch area to sip your coffee while you wait. The food itself is incredible. The fried chicken and a biscuit with the homemade potatoes on the side and the fluffiest pancakes I've ever put in my mouth. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. And we had the privilege of meeting the owner, Susan who was incredibly personable and informative to other good spots in the area. I highly Recommend making this one of your stops. You won't regret it.

Worth the Wait

By Grace B |

This was one of the best brunches I’ve had in a long time. The biscuit and blueberry basil jam was delicious. The pimento cheese grits were devine. The service was excellent—especially the host! This will be a must visit place when I return to Atlanta.

Excellent Place For Brunch/Breakfast

By hcohn31 |

I was visiting a friend...she suggested this place near her home...expect a wait..good food/good service

Sunday Brunch after a long wait.

By DrT4709 |

I had Sunday brunch at the Buttermilk Kitchen_first visit. Very comfortable casual rustic interior. A long 45 minute wait which I assume is due to satisfied patrons. My wife had a "stack" of two pancakes_good texture and light, but rather flavorless unless topped with syrup. Coffee was fair. I had the pimento omelette_different, good taste, not dry, tasty, BUT came out tepid. The pancakes were hot! So looks like there preparation timing was off. My guess is the omelette was completed first, then waited around for the pancakes, then served, the omelette tepid, the pancakes hot. Now the biscuits were good. We will go back to see if we might be more pleased the second time around.

Excellent! Holy cow...

By hyperplexia |

So I’m not one to wax poetic about food but my goodness-best. Breakfast. EVER! The 90 minute wait was daunting, but worth every minute. Run. Don’t walk. Eat there soon.

Look no further!!!! THE breakfast spot

By Shirley L |

Look no further!!!! This place was delicious! The service outstanding and we didn’t even get to go inside, this was during curb side pick up. Very friendly staff. Food is FRESHand tastes sooooooooo good! The biscuits are mouth watering. We flew into Atlanta and needed some food without hesitation we headed here and let me tell you even after we left we are still day dreaming of going back :)

Delicious breakfast, especially the biscuits!

By TAP647 |

A great brunch spot. Really enjoyed the pimento omelet and biscuit. One downside is they do not have an espresso machine, so no lattes available only drop coffee.

Fantastic breakfast

By AWRich |

I’ve been visiting Atlanta for the last few years and never made it here for breakfast - and what a shame!! The pimento and bacon omelet is phenomenal and the grits are just like grandma used to make. The service was also warm and welcoming. I’m going to add this to my visit list as a must repeat.

Excellent!

By R. K. V. |

Really excellent. Delicious southern breakfast with some twists- excellently made. Good/friendly service and reasonable value

Just the best breakfast place

By Mike M |

Just the best breakfast place in Atlanta. Get the breakfast platter. Two eggs, bacon( best I’ve ever had) hash browns with a huge buttermilk biscuit ... My gosh it’s sooo delicious.....I go here every time in Atlanta....and I always take some biscuits to go

Ahhhhhhhh!

By Darkfelloww |

In ATL for a few days and consulted Trip Advisor for breakfast. When I saw Buttermilk Kitchen ranked #1, I had to try it. I have to say that it certainly deserves A+ ranking. Just the biscuit alone is reason to visit BK. Visited on Friday, returned Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was very busy - I don’t belief they take reservations. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor sitting. Staff is very friendly and the food is very good. Onsite parking is sparse but be patient - the property itself probably has less than 20 parking spaces, but they have arranged for patrons to parking in spaces in adjoining property. Keep and eye for the entrance - easy to miss on first try.

Delicious!

By mwyatt25 |

Such a good meal. I got the caramelized banana oatmeal and husband got the pimiento omelette. Service was quick and food was delicious.

Best breakfast I’ve ever eateb

By Lawrenski |

Legitimately. We had the chicken biscuit and short rib hash. Finished off with banana pudding. Couldn’t recommend more. Bring your stretchy pants.

Whisky Syrup!

By PierceChick |

We are visiting the area while on our way to NC. Friends told us about this place and they were correct! Good food, reasonably priced, great staff! Parking is a challenge in front so park in back if you have a large vehicle. Family friendly and quaint. Southern Fried with a tasty flair! We will be returning to try more delectable items from the menu. FYI: our waitress was awesome! We wish her all the best in her future musical endeavors. ❤️

WORTH THE WAIT

By CRAIG Overby |

Went to brunch here on our way out of Atlanta back to Knoxville. The wait was 1hour 20 mins and I hesitated but I'm glad we stayed. Our meal was delicious! Everything so tasty. The bacon was the best I've ever had. French toast fluffy and sweet. Hashbrown cakes YUMMY. Biscuits flaky and so so good. Chicken fried perfectly. Cheesy grits the best I've ever had. Very impressive brunch. Don't think twice, the line speaks for itself

Delicious breakfast!!! Slightly pricey, but worth it!!!

By Johnny G |

Superb Breakfast!!! Delicious breakfast, awesome eggs, giant tasty pancakes and the biscuits are out of this world!!! Wow!!! Understand why business is always packed...will return. A must when in Atlanta!!! Saw on food channel and did not disappoint. A little on pricey side, but would return!!!

THE FOOOOOOOD

By Kristen B |

Look... you're going to wait an absurd amount of time for a table... and the food flies out of the kitchen quickly, so you won't be having a really slow, luxurious brunch... but the food quality makes up for it 100000% -- and while you're waiting they let you purchase as many drinks from the bar as you want! You can drink in their lobby, outdoors, anywhere you want. I can't remember the name of the dish I had, but get whatever has the short ribs and thank me later for the mouth orgasm.

Yummy breakfast is worth parking and waiting troubles

By puravida343 |

This place is worth the wait, but be prepared to wait! We went at 9:30 on a Thursday morning as a party of 2 (no reservation ) and barely got a table. I’ve also been here on a weekend and it is packed to the gills. But man oh man are those biscuits amazing. I had the chicken biscuit with pepper jelly and a side of fresh fruit and a delicious cold brew. Prices are in-line with other trendy brunch places on Atlanta. My husband had The Standard breakfast with eggs, hash brown fritters, and cheese grits. I don’t even like grits and I can admit these were good. Also, parking is tight - on-site parking is limited so don’t count on being able to park close.

Great brunch, it’s worth the wait

By SophieNY116 |

Food was delicious. We had the fried chicken & waffle, the dad’s waffle burger and some buttermilk pancakes. Friendly staff. We had to wait for 45 minutes but it was worth it. I️ would definitely come back.

Awesome...HUGE portions!

By Kathleen R |

Delicious huge biscuits, wonderful jellies, and delightful pimento cheese!! Don't pass up this experience...but...make sure you are very hungry cause the portions are big!!

Not worth the wait

By Gina M |

Waited over 2 hours only to be served attitude, poor service and mediocre food. With so many choices in Atlanta, surely you can find better. We put our name on the call ahead from their web site. When we got there, the hostess just laughed and acted like it was the biggest joke around. We were told even though we were 20 minutes in that we were still 26th in line and over 1.5 hours more to wait. We decided to wait as it appeared that others had coffee mugs that they carried out to sit in an unkempt parking lot to keep them occupied. With the lines, surely we we in for a nice meal. First off the coffee was just terrible. The coffee carafe and creamer were empty with no one tending. We waited 2 hours to be sat at a table for two with one additional chair pulled up to it for our party of 3. We should have declined to be seated, but again did not want to make waves, as surely we were in for a great meal. Not so. Only one of the 2 coffee cups were filled by the waitress, no creamer and no regular sugar were offered. Had to get up and fetch my own from the porch outside. It was only when the waitress saw me get up that she paid any mind to the fact that there had been 2 requests. The French toast was the most flavorless I have ever had. I asked for butter to see if they could be salvaged. I was told it did not come with the French toast. I said, fine, I would still like it, just charged me. Nothing was noteworthy as far as the food. They charge for every little condiment. But, the worst part is that the employees appear miserarable(with exception to the hostess) and carries over to the entire experience. I did notice a difference in the level of care placed on some parties. Perhaps, we looked like out of towners that were just easygoing. If not for the fact that I wanted to keep it light and not affect the mood of the day, I would have asked for the manager. But, I don't think it would have mattered anyway as they must feel secure that the lines will remain. Sad as I wanted to love it.

So glad I discovered this place

By gleethomas |

I love Atlanta's brunch scene and this place is added to my list of favorites. I came at the tail end of the brunch hour on a Saturday and didn't experience a wait. The food was really good. I had the short ribs. I can't wait to go back!

Delicious farm to table spot

By Venom P |

Very cozy brunch spot in Roswell. I truly enjoyed the experience. We ordered drinks and they were not very strong in terms of alcohol but very good in flavors. The Strawberry Rose soda was nice with vodka. The blueberry lemonade was popular as well. Drinks just didn't have a huge kick. The appetizers were AWESOME! The fried pickled green tomatoes were something I didn't know I needed. The biscuit basket was huge, and biscuits were delicious. The pimento cheese dip, you can not go wrong We ordered the special, which was a Lobster Omelet. No complaints and the hot chicken maple sauce we got on the side of the chicken and waffles. It was a nice condiment for all the dishes. We ordered French toast, and the bourbon maple sryup was very tasty. The grit bowl is good, and you can customize your ingredients. Overall, it was a great meal and a great time!

Great Place for Breakfast

By TruthfulC |

This restaurant was really good. I knew they were a busy establishment, so I got there a little after opening time on a Saturday. My husband and I arrived about 8:20 AM. No wait time at all. Nice hostess and waitress. The food was a good portion size, and it did not take a long time to arrive after ordering. The food was hot. It tasted like it had just come off the grill. I had pancakes and fried chicken. The pancake is huge. If you get it with chicken, you will be full. The atmosphere puts you in the mind of a old country house. Beverages are served in mason jars, and I thought that was cute. It was a tad cool, I would suggest bringing a light jacket. The parking is pretty tight. It was really picking up, as we left so plan ahead for parking….because parking is limited.

Delicious food

By Ilikefood |

I have been here a few times. The chicken biscuit is amazing. The pimento omelette is really good but last time they put way to much jelly on it. It’s a really long wait but the atmosphere is sooo cute

Plentiful breakfast

By Kelly from Detroit |

No wait 9am Friday morning, the staff was terrific. Started fried green tomatoes, (meal within its self). awesome. Biscuits and gravy A treat, took half home. Chicken and biscuit with pimento cheese grits on the side. pimento cheese grits was awesome! Staff really sweet and attentive. This was a real treat.

Great Brunch

By Always_Globetrotting |

We had an excellent brunch here as a family. We were seated right away at noon on a Friday morning. The biscuit basket was a great start to our meal. Daughter and I loved the pepper jam. Husband enjoyed the BLT with egg, kids both had pancakes and I had two eggs scrambled with a side of pimento grits. If I were cooking the eggs at home I would have cooked them a little bit longer but that’s just my personal preference for scrambled eggs. We were all very happy with our meals and service. Will definitely return next time we’re in Atlanta!

Yummmmmm

By TravelerMags |

Got the pimento cheese omelette with biscuit (it’s huge! And so yummy) with a potato. Awesome food. And unlimited coffee

Nice place, but nothing special

By he0z2z |

My family visited Atlanta last weekend and got high recommendations to visit this place for breakfast to try real Georgian food. We have ordered three different dishes to have different experience, but everything was nothing special. We drove there for 30 minutes, but I recommend this place for people who stay nearby only. Service was perfect, location is good, but do not drive there for more than for 15 minutes and avoid weekends. I cannot say anything really bad for this restaurant, may be just not our type of food. Plus you would not have many choices.

The best brunch I’ve had so far

By lucasashby |

This place is something special. You may be inclined to leave when seeing the long wait time, and that would be a huge mistake of you. Please stick it out! The food is all fresh and made from scratch. I recommend the biscuit tray for an appetizer if you’re with another (or a few people). They are huge! These are easily the best biscuits I’ve ever had (try it with the pepper jelly). Any menu item is good. Take the drive and be patient...it is worth it!

Best breakfast in town

By Renlow |

The food is incredible. Worth the 30 minute wait! The chicken biscuit was crazy good and my wife said the French toast was the best she ever had!!

Being in the restaurant business

By Expedition733134 |

Being in the restaurant business ourselves we are very picky. We absolutely LOVED everything about this restaurant. The Food, the service the whole atmosphere here is awesome. The smiling faces and food will live on till the next time we are in town.....

Great biscuits

By SSBurto |

This place was great. It’s a small place, but we got in on Sunday before the crowd came (~9:30am). The biscuits we’re great, but they are crunchy on the outside, so if you have braces or sensitivity chew with caution. They came with some blueberry jelly that was delicious. The lemonade was perfect. The pancakes were huge. I’d definitely go back.

Best breakfast this year.... really!!

By Rick C |

My son brought me here as one of his fav breakfast spots. We got here early on Sat morning as this place fills its lot with people waiting for tables. So worth it I had the BELT sandwich and side of cheddar grits. It was the bomb. Sandwich was huge. Loved the lemon mayo on my biscuit, eggs, cheese and big thick cuts of local bacon You must go here and be patient if you arrive to long after it opens

Mixed signals

By RaleighNCtravel |

Four of us arrived at 9:30 am on a Friday and the place was very busy and seemed even busier when we left at 10:30. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Parking was worse than horrible. There are about 20 places and then you are on your own to find a place. Our server Mitch did a very good job, helpful, quick and accurate. The noise level was loud which made it difficult to have a conversation The menu has a good variety but is not large and says that changes are not encouraged. Pricing is probably typical for an Atlanta area place that is very popular. But the food was very good and we all enjoyed our order. Rating lowered due to parking, noisy and somewhat limited menu.

Delicious and inspired

By flipper0211 |

The ambiance is peaceful and has the feel of a southern kitchen and dining. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. Thw food were delicious. An inspired southern flavor. The decor was creative. Thw biscuit app was delicious and must have.

Not to be missed in Buckhead!!

By MAP204 |

Finished a great weekend in Atlanta with breakfast at Buttermilk Kitchen. A definite stop for anyone looking for "the best way to start your day". So many great choices on the menu; Chicken and Waffles, Hot Chicken on Pimento Cheese Grits, the traditional eggs and bacon and not to be missed Sausage Gravy and Biscuits. Topped with great coffee, what's not to like. Highly recommended.

keep going back

By stephen z |

Brunch was again great as expected. The chicken biscuit is right on target and the biscuits are the best. Pimento cheese omelet is the most unusual and just spicy enough

Really?

By Executive Trave... B |

We waited for 1.5 hours for breakfast with great anticipation due to the crowd, the reviews. Finally, we thought a breakfast place with extraordinary food. Really? the food was ordinary at best. We didn't have the biscuits they rave about. Had rhe pancakes with caramelized bananas and waffles and chicken. If you have to go. don't go when there is a crowd not worth the wait. Food was served fast. Staff are pleasant

The best breakfast in Roswell

By livelife h |

This place is so good. The pancakes are so sweet you dont even need syrup. The biscuits are big and fluffy. The breakfast potatoes are well season. The acon and eggs delicious. you will get your money worth at this place.

Everything Here Is Good!Stay in Line!

By Sorrell8615 |

The chicken biscuit is the first thing you should order if there are any left. Pancakes, bacon, pick something it’s all good. Definitely worth the wait in line

Great breakfast restaurant but there is always a wait to be seated!

By jeaneelu |

This is a great little local restaurant that serves very good breakfasts and is located in a quaint little house in the heart of Buckhead. There is always a waiting line so be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes. Food is healthy and very tasty.

Grab some coffee, wait on the porch, eat a biscuit.

By dMo924 |

There is a tiny little parking lot, lots of signs of where you can and can't park, and the place is known so there is a wait. Go inside - there is a bar area that can be first come first serve - or just buy a cup of coffee, find some space on the porch (or outside if it isn't raining), and let the smell of bacon and biscuits make you more hungry for breakfast. Once inside we loved the set up of the space, the story, and the food. We order biscuits to start us off for the table - our waitress also let us know the perfect temperature to warm them up a home. Everything was very tasty and hit the spot. Would love to try dinner sometime!

You have to try the chicken biscuit!

By flyingshirley |

I went here with a friend recently. She goes all the time, but I hadn't been. We went for breakfast at 8am and we go a place right away but it got busy real quick. Parking is a bit confusing. I parked in the wrong spot first but then moved it to the right place. Apparently there is something on their web site about where to park but I didn't check it before going. I ordered the chicken biscuit and my friend had the caramelized banana oatmeal. both were so, so good. but the chicken biscuit was the best. Our server was really nice and made recommendations for me as i had never been. I will totally be going back!

Very Goid Hip Southern Restaurant

By DAdadNYC |

Buttermilk Kitchen has very good reviews and serving Southern Cusine, it should be a good idea having our first lunch in Atlanta. We ordered Blueberry Basil Lemonade, Shrimp & Grit, Chicken and Biscuits, and a Banana Loaf. The lemonade is fantastic but it could be less sugar because the blueberries and lemon taste so good with a hint of basil already. The chicken and biscuits are both a bit hard and thick battered. But the cheddar grit came with it pretty cheesy soft, nice! The shrimp and grit could be less spicy as it takes away the fresh shrimp and mild grit taste. A solid four stars.

So-so, I can't see going back

By Ric A |

The food was better than the server. But this was no $50 breakfast :-( We were greeted and seated quickly, the hostess was pleasant. Necayle the server was by to offer drinks, didn't really listen to my request, and then took too long to bring a simple cup of coffee. She came to take our order and that was the last we saw of her until I flagged her for the check. The space is OK, cutesy remodeled old house, loud inside but the patio was better.

Biscuits are the best

By Liz S |

We went on a Thursday morning and there was no wait time.Service was friendly, quick and efficient. The biscuits are delicious and huge. The blueberry jam was home made. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were also good. I did not realize the biscuit size as the eggs were not necessary. I would definitely go back. Even though one biscuit is enough they are so good you actually would want two

Quality breakfast

By Billy M |

The food is awesome and the service is top shelf, you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it and get there early but so worth the wait.

Wonderful food and coffee!

By heatherleight |

The food was great and I enjoyed the unique items on their menu. I also got the Milky Way iced coffee and it was delicious! The only downside was parking is difficult and the service was slow. But I would go back in a heartbeat! :-)

Will always compare!

By JLI |

Upon a recommendation by the southern culture, I tried Chicken and Waffles for the first time in my life here. I was shocked that I absolutely loved it! I’m always hesitant to try the dish anywhere else because I know I’ll always compare it to the Buttermilk Kitchen. I have yet to find a place that makes it as good as here and I’ve tried...all over the country. Great job!

Brunch with son.

By bamajim1 |

Excellent food, fun atmosphere and great service. The pimento cheese grits are a must as are the biscuits. All was delicious.

The biscuits are to die fora, They are huge and very flaky. I now understand why there was only one with my order. It would be hard to eat more even though you might want to.

Pass the Waffles

By Janice Reed cares |

I enjoyed my experience here. The food was solid and the staff was friendly. I like the design of the restaurant, gives it a small town feel. The price points are acceptable and overall it's a solid breakfast establishment.

Always amazing!

By TXMARTINS |

This place is very popular for a reason! Every time we go it seems to get better and we know the items we really love to order now. Regardless of what you order don’t miss their biscuits - absolutely divine:) Tip: Go a few minutes before they open for easy parking and to grab a table before it gets crazy!

All Around Fantastic

By dbbohner |

This place is worth the wait. We didn't have to wait long but can imagine it would be easy to fill up this wonderful little place. They serve breakfast and lunch. I had lunch and my daughter had breakfast. I had chicken salad on a salad with a biscuit. I also ordered a lemonade. Everything was delicious. We ate way beyond the full line. Service was fantastic and everyone was super nice. I highly recommend this establishment for a great friendly meal.

The fried chicken and biscuit!

By Jonpais |

We got the fried chicken and biscuit and an omelette. Both were delicious, but the former was divine. Very chilled spot, friendly staff, Ample parking, reasonable prices. Highly recommend a visit!

The chicken biscuit was amazing.

By Catherine |

The chicken biscuit was amazing. So glad we chose here! The red pepper jelly was really good, it’s a must try! Also it was very fast service!

Customer Service Issue

By Jason G |

When asking for direction with their valet service, I think her name River was extremely disrespectful and rude. It was rainy and I needed to park close because I have a baby and she instructed me to park in the back with a very rude attitude.

Fave local spot!

By Leah Davidson |

Had some family visiting us in Atlanta and took them to our favorite spot! Service is always great and they never miss a beat no matter how busy it is. I normally do the Shrimp n Grits but tried the Hot Chicken n Grits instead on this visit. Wow!! Need the recipe for that maple hot sauce!!

Simply The Best

By Darkfelloww |

Simply the best. I don’t live in Atlanta but whenever I’m in Atlanta I make time to breakfast at Buttermilk Kitchen. The food and service is simply second to none. Parking is much better from pre-COVID but don’t go there with your Ferrari - parking space is tight. Advise is to make reservation and come early in the day. Outside dining is available but gets hot later in the day.

The real deal

By FSVET |

All good, all the time. Made from scratch, top quality. Really, really good. Worth the 30 minute wait.

Worth the hype

By Montana |

This was a tiktok find that was 100% worth the hype!!! A reservation is definitely needed, at least on a weekend. It’s impossible to choose what sounds the best… but make sure you try a biscuit!! Great coffee also:)

Quaint but Quantity and Quality Satisfies!

By Bee B |

My sisters and I had a 2-hour wait because we had not prebooked online. However, 2 hours and a nice suntan later, we were seated in a quaint, southern style restaurant. The food was plentiful and delicious. I highly recommend the fried green tomotoes, blueberry jam, sourdough toast and sausage. I was happy to have plenty to takeout for later in the day.

Outstanding Southern fare

By PRFamilyVacations |

Buttermilk kitchen is the real deal! Best pimento cheese on the planet, flakey tasty biscuits, huge fluffy pancakes, and perfectly spicy Bloody Mary. Wait staff is friendly and the atmosphere is lively. Chicken biscuit is a must have for lunch, but the fried green tomatoes sandwich with pimento cheese was also delicious. Parking can be tricky!

Great Breakfast

By 533sundayk |

Nice and cozy atmosphere. Parking was good and the food was great. Wished I made reservations to avoid the wait.

Wow! Yes, it’s even better than you’ve heard

By FeedBob |

Heard about it. Saw it on TV. Gave it a try and...wow! It was a Sat morning and the 30 min wait went by fast. Very diverse crowd with everyone in pretty good humor. Service was terrific. We went with classics—2 egg bfast and French toast. Both were exceptional. For sides we had berries, bacon, hash brown fritters and sausage gravy. Each was amazing. The gravy on the fritters was the stuff of dreams! French press was super. But let’s talk about the biscuits. OMG!! I wish I had one now! It was the size of a reasonable hamburger bun and crunchy on the outside but moist, fluffy and amazing on the inside. The buttery crunch was unlike anything I’ve had at a restaurant. Yep, this place is as good as you have heard...probably better. I’ll be back!

A Must for Breakfast

By Rwarren4577 |

You may be concerned when pulling up to Buttermilk Kitchen that the wait time maybe long due to the amount of people lined up. But the line goes quickly and it is by far worth the wait. One of the best Sunday brunches I have had in Atlanta. It’s a great place for family and friends. Too many great dishes to choose from. So my advice it to pick several and share.

Must eat breakfast place.

By Neil F |

The food is fantastic. Literally the best biscuit I have ever had. We are going back tomorrow! We had breakfast and drinks. All very good.

Worth the wait.

By David C |

Excellent food and atmosphere. It’s hard to find a place that can make breakfast a gourmet experience but this place really knows how to do breakfast. Parking can be a challenge and you might have to wait a bit but it is worth the wait.

Fabulous

By Maria G |

Great breakfast at Buttermilk Kitchen this morning. The chicken biscuit was delicious! I took it apart to make it last longer. My fried potato with onion strings were different and tasty. I love their pickleas and bacon too. The service was great. The atmosphere is good.

Great southern breakfast

By finfin1990 |

We went there around 8:30am on a Saturday and we did not wait at all. When we finished breakfast around 9:30, the line is long. So be early if you don’t want to wait and can be an early bird. All of us ordered chicken biscuit and it is insanely good! I love my food with spicy sauce :) I want to come back and check out the chicken and waffle for sure. The restaurant is cozy and rustic. Great restaurant for hangover lol

Looking forward to our next meal here.

By Jeff H |

If you find yourself in Atlanta this restaurant should be near the top of your list of places to eat. The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. The menu offers such a wide range of creative options you'll probably start planning your second trip during your first visit. Buttermilk Kitchen does it right.

Brunch

By Will_Travel |

The place is crazy busy. The smell from the coffee and the food will definitely make you stay. The food is a generous portion size, delicious and served with local ingredients.

Great Brunch

By peachga5500 |

I had the lobster omelet my date had the waffles and chicken. My omelet was great! The chicken and waffles were really good as well.

Simple Efficient

By Patrick M |

Good for food and efficiency of service. Facility offers a great refreshing view and ambiance Great place. For an easily breakfast

Worth the drive

By 4linu |

Looked for a restaurant to stop by for breakfast after arriving in Atlanta. Found this restaurant on trip advisor with great reviews. So with the use of GPS, drove to Buttermilk Kitchen On our way to Helen, GA for a wonderful breakfast. Did not have to wait long for a table and service was great. Friendly staff. I had the chicken biscuit and grits which was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant.

Best Breakfast/Brunch, and I Mean Best.

By michael l |

Admittedly, I do not eat a southern breakfast quite often - but I definitely do eat. The food and coffee at Buttermilk was on the top end of anything you would possibly get. Let’s include NYC, Paris… name it. Exceptional biscuits, chicken, cheese grits and a perfect Americano. Pancake good, too.

Fantastic atmosphere in an old house - okay food

By CraftBeers |

I really like that this restaurant is located in an old house. The individual layout of the rooms in the house have been maintained to create a homey feel. A country kitchen blue theme has been used throughout the house to connect it all together. It's an awesome look. The people are even better than the atmosphere. They are kind, polite, engaged and make the experience! Parking is a real problem. There are a few spots in front, a few in back, and a few more on the weekend when the nearby business is closed. We arrived at noon on a Friday. We had to drive through a couple times to find a spot. I cannot imagine what parking is like at peak breakfast time. The food for me was average. The Hash Bowl is supposed to have crispy potatoes, but they were over cooked and dried out. They needed a high searing heat to char the outside while leaving moisture in the middle. The sunny side up eggs were cooked so long that the bottom was brown and the yolk was hard. I was not able to break them open and add moisture to the potatoes. The biscuits were good, but not five star great. I did love the flavors in the sausage gravy. It was the star of the show. I probably would not make a return visit. The parking is too difficult, and the food is middle of the road.

Absolutely going back...

By Naomi B |

Definitely waited far too long to try the food here. I was recently at a training and looked up nearby haunts on Trip Advisor and saw it listed. During our lunch break I drove over and ordered my food to go. Inside is very homey and the food service is fast and friendly. But the food...the food is divine. I had the chicken biscuit that comes with pimento cheese grits. The biscuit was homemade and crispy on the outside, very fluffy inside. They put a red pepper jelly on it coupled with the perfectly fried chicken and I was in heaven. The grits were a highlight as well, complimenting the tangy flavor of the biscuit. I loved this meal. Going to take another trip back to try the chicken and waffles. Know that the parking situation is precarious but the food is worth it!

Absolutely delicious!

By Lisa R |

Friendly staff and delicious food. You feel like you're in your Grandma's home, but fancier! BEST breakfast I have ever had and my hubby said the same!

Excellent Breakfast

By hausfelds |

Great service but the food was fantastic ! I had the pimento cheese omelet and the combination of savory and sweet was wonderful. Combine it with the fried potatoes with fried onions and the huge buttermilk biscuit and you have a large meal that made you forget about lunch ! Don’t forget to try the blueberry preserves! The others at the table has the French toast and the BELT ( which was a BLT with egg, spinach, pickled green tomatoes and a lemon mayo. We all agreed that anything we chose was awesome. Would definitely go back for maybe lunch next time. Have outdoor seating and a nice place to wait if there’s a large crowd!

Not worth the wait - Disapointed

By dans660 |

I had read reviews and want to try when visiting the area. Went on a recent Saturday. Had to wait about an hour. It was nice that they sell coffee cups so you can have coffee while you wait. Neither my wife or I liked our meals. The descriptions were good, but the food was poor. Service was slow (part of the reason the wait is so long). We will not return

Worth The Wait

By L G |

Went to the Buttermilk Kitchen with three friends on a Saturday morning, Arrived about 8:30 and had a 45 minute wait. Breakfast was very good and worth the wait. Biscuits were excellent as was the chicken and waffles. Friendly and efficient waitstaff.

Breakfast place

By deepzjoseph8888 |

I found this restaurant thru google search .Went there 4 times already ,to go place for breakfast .I ordered French toast with caramalised bananas ,and 4 eggs with sunny side up .It was all good .It is very neat .Seating area is lil congested.

Every bite better than the last!

By Haley L |

This was the best meal and best breakfast I have ever had! Everything was full of flavor and I could not stop eating. The pancakes were amazing, the chicken biscuit was the best we’ve had in Atlanta, the grits were so good and cheesy, the biscuits were crunchy and fluffy and the hash browns were super tasty. We were not disappointed and it was totally worth the wait. If you’re looking for some good southern food, definitely come here! Also beware, you will definitely eat too much, but it’s so worth it!

Great food. Very LOUD

By Patjamesj |

Food was great and service was outstanding, but unfortunately, it is VERY LOUD!! If you have any type of noise sensitivity, you will need to bring earplugs or earmuffs. Thankfully our autistic daughter wasn't with us because there is no way we would have been able to stay. We had a very difficult time just hearing our server.

Disappointed. Excessive waiting time! Not worth it!

By Matias M |

This was probably my worst experience in waiting time in Atlanta, since when We arrived were told to wait between 15 minutes and 1 hour and a half... as incoherent as that may sound... and by the time we had been waiting for 1:45hs they found a place for the 5 of us... good! In two separate tables!!! Incredible!!! We were really pissed off... everybody was passing by and we got two tables for 5? The explanation was great, 2 in one table and 3 in the other but with the same waiter!!! (?) really, no kidding, that was the explanation. We kept on waiting and finally sit in another table that was suitable for us... the waiter was extremely serious with us, it looks like we had the fault for being uncomfortable with the almost two hours standing in a waiting room packed... totally unnecessary. Anyway, the food was similar to many other regular restaurants in Atlanta. No doubt, never coming back again. If you are a party of 3 or more... it is absolutely not worth at all... total disappointment.

Breakfast with my love

By Vicki T |

This restaurant was excellent, the food is amazing and you must have a biscuit! My husband had the pancakes with perfectly cooked thick cut bacon. I had eggs, grits chicken sausage and a biscuit. The service is excellent and Erin is the bomb as a server. Adorable warm charm inside the restaurant also. We will be back anytime we’re in Atlanta

Hard to find butter than this place!

By RowdyRudy |

Truly exceptional food. The biscuits are perhaps the best I have ever had. The biscuit plate with craft jams was SOO good. Our table had many of the dishes and EVERYone loved their food. I had the fried green tomato BLT. It was delicious and different. I highly recommend!

Family vacation breakfast stop

By Warren R |

Found this place on-line and decided to give it a try. Food was good. Noise level in the place during our stop made it impossible to enjoy the meal. Service was good. Is a bit overpriced.

A Little Disappointed

By Marshael |

Went to Buttermilk Kitchen yesterday based on the reviews and I was a little disappointed. The food was okay, nothing great. It was not bad but it was not very good either. The best thing that I had was the pancake. I also had the standard breakfast, I did not like the hash brown fritters or the biscuit. Would I go back, probably not.

Worth a try

By aplemmom81 |

This restaurant kept showing up on all the lists as a top breakfast spot in Atlanta. Despite the warnings of limited parking spots and long wait times we decided to give it a try. We went on a Sunday morning around 10am. We were lucky to grab an open parking spot right behind the restaurant and the wait was about 15-20 minutes. They have coffee available on the porch so you can purchase a cup at the counter right inside the door and have coffee while you wait. The food was okay. My husband got the chicken biscuit and I got the B.E.L.T. after our server recommend it over the pancakes. We also ordered a biscuit and jelly to share. It was all good and the price wasn't too bad, but I honestly don't get the hype. I found out that the chef that opened this restaurant was a champion of "chopped" which is cool. The restaurant was also featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, but honestly I've had better. I would definitely recommend going, just don't expect to be amazed.

Nice Pancakes

By Top5Jamaica |

Very nice pancakes and hashbrowns fritters, biscuits are a bit too doughy for my liking, next time won't bother to order the Biscuit Basket since you already get them as an option with most of their dishes.

Worth the wait!!!

By jdelston1 |

Originally told the wait would be 45 minutes to 1 hour. Turned out to be 30 minutes. Friendly staff. Delicious food!!! Cool decor. Would definitely go again if we visit Atlanta.

Best Breakfast in the World!

By Melissa R |

I doubt there is a better place to eat breakfast in the world. The blueberry mimosas were unusual - and phenomenal. Great coffee (it matters!). The chicken and waffles were utterly perfect:A fluffy waffle with perfectly fried chicken and bourbon syrup was the perfect way to top it. The pimento cheese omelet and grits were totally amazing. Biscuits the size of your head. If I lived in the area, I would eat here every single day. Service was great and the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy (we ate on the heated patio).

Fabulous biscuits

By SlymanChicago |

Funky place with weird parking arrangements. Excellent breakfast/lunch place. The biscuits are huge and not at all like standard biscuits - very tasty. Would definitely go back.

Good breakfast, long wait

By Teresa M |

The biscuits were very large and delicious. The chicken biscuit was quite good. The French toast was good. The cheeseburger and fries were good as well. I would return but try to time it carefully so that I didn’t have to wait so long.

Mouthwatering Menu

By Brenda Dutton |

Where to begin? Everything I've tried at Buttermilk has been incredible! The fried chicken and waffle were perfectly paired, and the flavor was just the right combination of savory and sweet. I've also enjoyed the hash and, of course, Buttermilk's famous chicken biscuit! The service is also great, the staff is so friendly. Just try your best to get there before the doors open (we arrived about 15 minutes before they opened and there was already a line)! Want to see even more delicious food? Follow @datethisplate on Instagram for more reviews and plates you will want to date!

Cool setting with hit and miss food

By TomFromATL |

I had been wanting to go here since it opened. It just seemed the wait time was always too long and the signature dish Chicken Biscuit was only on the menu at certain times. Parking is tight so be sure to car pool with friends. Many more tables than parking spaces. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken biscuit with pimento cheese grits. The chicken seemed to have spent a few hours under a heat lamp and dried out. The biscuit was so so and cold but the cheese grits were great!. My son had the same and was OK with it but not thrilled. My wife got the fried chicken salad and loved it. The tab for the three of us was $52 without tip. I am sorry but I need to be WOWED if you are going to charge me $14 for a chicken biscuit!!! Maybe I read all the reviews and had in my mind it was going to blow me away and set my expectations too high and I am being too tough on them??? I think I will stick with nearby Chick fil A for the chicken biscuit but next time (if there is one) I will try something else. T

Off

By Cameron V |

I loved buttermilk kitchen and have been going for several years, but today was strange. I now only go during the week as the weekend wait is not worth it. I went around 10am with my sister and boyfriend who were visiting. The place was practically empty, our server was awful (food came cold, had to wait 5 mins for almond milk for my coffee, 20 mins to order etc.) and food was just okay. Don’t believe the hype, this place is not worth the $70 price tag for 3 people.

Great Breakfast !

By IverJohnson |

On our way to tour the Governor's Mansion. We had heard that Buttermilk Kitchen was a good place for breakfast. We had to find a parking spot down the street a ways, but not too far away. And our walk back to the restaurant was rewarded. My wife and I just tried the typical coffee, pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc. The restaurant was very crowded, but we were served in good time and with fresh, hot food. It was really a nice stop. Good food for a nice price.

Amazing Omelette & Biscuit

By Nicole N |

If you have a chance to visit The Buttermilk Kitchen for breakfast or brunch...don’t miss it! I took a $20 Uber from downtown just to try it after reading reviews. I’m so glad I did! I can honestly say I had the best omelette I have ever had in my life there! The pimento cheese omelette is absolutely mouthwatering and the biscuits are scrumptious! I didn’t care for the coffee (way too strong for me) and the atmosphere is loud, but those are minor issues if you even care about those things. Definitely a must try if you are in search of unique and yummy!

Delicious and a Must Go!

By Linda C |

Wonderful little place, friendly, efficient staff! Totally BEST biscuits ever! Delicious blueberry basil jam, pimento cheese, absolutely everything! Open for breakfast and lunch, brunch on weekends.

Always great.

By Tyler C |

Best breakfast in Atlanta !! We always try to make it to the buttermilk kitchen when in Atlanta. Foods perfect. Parking sucks !

Literally the best breakfast I ever had.

By erica32paulk |

Honestly breakfast can be so boring but Buttermilk Kitchen has stepped it up big time. The biscuits were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The biscuit and gravy, yum, they did not skimp on the sausage. We ordered an appetizer, heck yeah for breakfast. It was cornbread with butter and Honey on the side. So perfect I wanted to order another. I got the chicken biscuits which was, yeah you guessed it delicious and a pretty big size piece. The most unique thing to me was the pimento cheese grits. I don't like pimento cheese but I was on vacation and love to try new things. I was not disappointed. Literally the best breakfast I ever had. Will be going back everytime I swing thru Atlanta. Also the decor was very modern yet homey. And the staff was super sweet. I wish I lived closer.

Breakfast Gem

By marcwX3905BM |

Food was delicious and service was superb. They have a nice outside patio to eat and brunch it up. I'm one of the few ppl who doesn't care for mimosas but at this location, they were darn good. The omelette and hash bowls were also very good. We ate here for brunch on a Saturday and there was about a 15-20 minute wait. They are quite busy on weekends so go online and join the waitlist, it's worth the wait!

Just a GREAT Breakfast

By Harryj |

My wife and I visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We got there early for breakfast at 9:15 and still had to wait for 20 minutes for a table. From the hostess to our server it was a terrific experience. We ordered the lobster omelette and chicken and waffles. They were simply amazing. Don’t forget to get the biscuit basket, it’s three biscuits with butter and jam. They might be the best biscuits I have ever eaten. Overall five stars is not enough to tell you how amazing the place is.

Very good food and very kind/helpful

By slrv61 |

Very good food and very kind/helpful staff. We were looking for a bit of an experience off the highway and we got it. However I cannot say that it was worth the drive and wait. That does not mean it was bad, it did not meet our needs today. Pros: good food prepared well, nice staff, amazing Bloody Mary. Cons: long wait, far from 75, closes at 2, a little pricey. I highly encourage you to go to this restaurant for the morning and enjoy talking with friends and family as you wait and you do not have a schedule. If you are just buzzing off the highway and want food, go elsewhere.

Breakfast anyone???

By 2happi |

This is now one of our favorite breakfast spots! Service was great and the food is very well prepared. I love the apple juice! The chicken biscuit is amazing-big and tasty!!! It fills up quickly so get there early if you don't want to wait. Our server Meli is the best!

YES!!!

By peachykeen808 |

You will not be disappointed! I chose this spot because of the reviews. The service and food were top notch! My food was prepared to perfection!

Just a wonderful place

By Darren W |

The food is excellent. Excellent coffee as well. The food is so good here. Excellent portion size. Have been back several times. Parking can be hectic once the place feels up.

Goodness

By wanderlustatlgirl |

Went to Buttermilk Kitchen based on an IG post and it didn't disappoint. We went for Sunday Brunch. I would do Uber as parking spaces are scarce. Be ready for a line if your are doing Sunday brunch...our wait was 30 minutes. It was worth the wait. I had their favorite chicken biscuit with pepper jelly, pimento cheese grits, side of bacon and the best root beer I have ever tasted. My boyfriend had chicken and waffles. I would visit again.

Solid choice for breakfast

By JRDurden |

Wait is long but so is every other place on the area. The star of the show was the pimento cheese grits and the snoozed was the chicken salad toast. The blueberry-basil jam & the pepper jelly really elevate the biscuits. My old fashioned was unique as well as it contained prosecco & orange juice. Food is also moderately priced which I enjoyed I’d return but imho this isn’t the best Atl has to offer

Unique and Delicious

By HighTimbers |

Buttermilk is very unique as breakfast restaurants go. The lines waiting to get in are insane. Hour plus waits are the norm and it is difficult to say it is not worth the wait. The food is as good as breakfast fare gets. The eggs cooked perfect. The jam was fantastic. The truffle potato, a half baked potato with cheese and truffle oil at $4.50 expensive but very tasty. The famed Chicken Biscuit is large, served with grits and pickle at $14.00 also expensive, but as part of the ambiance of the experience not so much. Let's face it: You just waited an hour for breakfast standing in the parking lot or on the porch. Anticipation and hunger are bursting. So what if a Chick Fil A chicken biscuit is just as good for a few bucks. It is not the same. We loved it and would go back. Visiting Atlanta? Stop by and get on the list and come back. It is worth the wait if you are a breakfast foodie.

You have to be an early bird to like it

By AmaniHsiao |

Hard to find seats here, however, our second trip we got in after waited for a while, the service is good, the place is more than cozy and nice, the food are somehow basic and ordinary to me.

Best breakfast in Atlanta!

By Hali B |

My husband and I have been obsessed with Buttermilk ever since moving to Atlanta about a year and a half ago! Everything we have tried as been extremely tasty and is made with high quality ingredients. It's a very welcoming ambience, and the staff has always been very kind and attentive!

Buttermilk kitchen serves great biscuits

By Kathy E |

Good food; not sure if it was worth an hour wait. Everything came out as ordered. Biscuits are awesome. Dining area could have been cooler. With lots of people opening and closing the door, you lose some of the coolness.

Delicious!!!

By Ashley P |

GREAT place to eat! Eggs are probably some of the best ever - biscuit is HUGE & delicious! Super service & quick! I would definitely come here again!

Never Disappoints!

By GTJacket71 |

Had the infamous chicken biscuit, as usual, and it was perfect as always. Love having this so close by!

Excellent overall experience. Delicious!!

By Suzanna Lynne |

We were promptly greeted, seated and served water in mason jar cups. What we ordered: French press coffee (Rev coffee - Smyrna GA, French Toast (two thick slices of southern white bread, pure maple syrup, powdered sugar + a sweet topping of vanilla cream, BELT (bacon, medium egg, organic spinach, pickled green tomatoes, lemon mayo, on toasted wheat and a crispy fried potato on the side, and the Chicken Biscuit (sweet-tea brined fried chicken breast on a biscuit served with homemade red pepper jelly, pimento cheese grits, house pickles). Comments: where to park sign was helpful (parking is scarce). Excellent overall experience/rating for food (arrived in 25 minutes/big portions/delicious, service and atmosphere.

Seriously the BEST breakfast spot in ATL!

By Nikki Sinnott |

My husband and I have visited ATL 3 times now and we absolutely love the city. On our first visit I was searching for unique places for us to eat and came across the Buttermilk Kitchen for breakfast. Their menu isn't the biggest, but the food definitely makes up for that! We have had the biscuits and gravy, the buttermilk pancakes, the French toast (my favorite), the BK platter, and the banana pudding. All of the food is exceptional, and our favorite drink to have is the apple juice, possibly the best apple juice ever! If you are looking for a spot to have breakfast that isn't the typical places that you can go to everywhere else, I highly recommend stopping here! The weekends get a little crazy and the place is small, but I assure you...it's totally worth the wait!

Bring your appetite

By DeMarcus S |

Had a chance to try out this restaurant with coworkers. The food was very good. You must order the biscuit basket and try the pepper jelly. Arrive early if you go on the weekend. Very long wait to be seated, but worth it. There is limited parking as well

First time visit! SO glad we stopped in!

By Pauline-Paul13 |

We were in Georgia recently and were close by Buttermilk Kitchen in Atlanta. I saw an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and wanted to stop by for lunch. Unfortunately, we were short on time and couldn't dine in but wanted to try the biscuits so we ordered a "sampler" of 3 biscuits and OMGOSH! They were delicious and incredibly moist! They weren't dripping in butter either! I will definitely go back there for lunch next time I'm in Atlanta!

Don’t Let the Wait Keep You Away

By Ihearttravel100 |

Had a girl’s trip to Atlanta, and had so many people suggest we must come here because we were in search of the best biscuits. Because there were 7 of us, we had to wait over an hour for a table, but that time completely was a forgotten once we took our first bite of our biscuit... and then added the red pepper jelly... WOW! The BEST biscuits we’ve ever had... actually, everything we had was fabulous - eggs, short rib hash, bacon, sausage, almond joy cold brew, fresh squeezed juice... and more biscuits!! You MUST try this place! Can’t wait to go back.

Cute restaurant

By Tricia H |

Visited this restaurant for brunch at about 1:30p and there was a 45 minute wait. So happy we decided to wait. Its a cute farmhouse that was quaintly decorated, but even better the food was excellent. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Definitely going to visit this restaurant again when in Atlanta again. Everything was excellent.

Buttermilk Kitchen is a hard pass for us.

By PinkSherbert |

I just returned from brunch with my daughter and niece at Buttermilk Kitchen. We were looking forward to it since their reviews are very good. Perhaps we experienced an off day at Buttermilk Kitchen but the food and service do not live up the reviews. First, it took our server (never got her name) about 15 mins to even greet us. She failed to put in our shared plate of the biscuits before we were ready to place our order. My niece had to ask for a clean glass of water twice. The iced latte was heavily over sweetened (we added some water and it was drinkable). We ordered the Grits Bowl, Chicken and Waffle, Pimento Omelet. The food was ok….not bad. I had to stop another server to ask for our check as our server was nowhere to be seen. For $90 + $18 tip, the food and service should have been better.

Worth the wait

By BeachLeech |

Be prepared to wait, and also be ready to look for parking as its hard to come by. Recommend to pull up, get your name on the list, and then go search for parking as part of your wait. They offer a primer of where to park on the side of their building, but be smart where you park as there are many signs with threats of towing. While waiting they have coffee available, help yourself to a mug and fill up. Our wait was close to an hour on Saturday morning, there is limited room inside. Bar type seating with about 8-10 slots if you can find one to open up. Menu is short, but interesting. I had the special that day, an omelet with chorizo, potato and a couple other items. The eggs tasted very good, quite light. Bacon as a side was thick, meaty and tasty with the maple seasoning. Started with a biscuit, served with their blackberry-basil jam, which also was good. Coffee was average, but if you have a liking for french press then maybe you like it better. Observing other plates, I am pretty certain I would order the chicken sandwich next time, fried chicken on a biscuit, with what appears to a side of grits with cheese.

Best biscuits on the planet & the rest of the menu is close.

By FRANK R |

If you do one thing, order the biscuits. Then if you have room, order a great breakfast. I had the beef hash with eggs (excellent). My brother-in-law had the ever popular chicken & biscuits (excellent as well). Service was good especially given how busy this place is. Saw the negative comments about wait time. When we arrived, we were told 30 minutes & that was just about right. You can buy a mug for coffee & sit outside which helped with the wait. Actually worked to our benefits since we talked to this young group of women who knew everything on the menu (including the green egg grill) & made some great recommendations. Although we parked in their lot, parking can be an issue although they have a sign of available parking in the area. Just expect to wait for the best biscuits on the planet, you won't be disappointed.

Delightful!

Went early on a Saturday, so did not have too long a wait. Decor is charming. The wait staff is supper friendly. The biscuits are huge and so good! They have a buttery crispy outside. We enjoyed the pimento cheese grits, the granola with yogurt and scrambled eggs. The coffee was great and they even had almond milk!

Oh My Biscuits

Buttermilk Kitchen was excellent. We each had the chicken biscuit and I have no regrets. The biscuits are huge, tender, and crisp on the outside. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The pepper jam was a perfect compliment to the two. The pimento grits also pretty good, maybe a bit too cheesey, but my wife accused me of not being a true cheese fan when I said that, so I can't ding BK for my cheese fandom shortcomings. Service was also good. I'll come back the next time I am in Atlanta.

Excellently sourced ingredients with superb service

We stopped for lunch today after a very positive review by our daughter. My wife chose the Pimento Omelet and I had the Fried Egg BLT. The presentation was among the best I have seen recently. My wife's plate was especially photogenic. The highlight was my wife's side of kale. We both felt it was quite well done - very tasty. My BLT was surprisingly bland and very messy - with the biscuit crumbling as I ate it. There was enough food that my wife brought half of hers home for dinner tonight. Mine was all consumed and I will need little for dinner tonight.

Friendly family atmosphere

Adorable facility. The customer service was excellent. Very family friendly I see why it's so popular. The best item was the bacon...freshly cured ..omg....portion sizes are more than enough...

Rarely do you find breakfast this good!

It was our first visit. Everything was fantastic. I recommend trying everything. Mimosas hit the spot.

I really enjoyed my visit to the buttermilk kitchen. I had a chicken biscuit. It was delicious! If service was good. I do not like that the Coke is not refillable. I did not like my visit a year ago so I was very impressed with this visit. I was glad my friends twisted my arm to go there.

Disappointing experience- not to be repeated

This is an overrated, overpriced, unwelcoming restaurant. Two, dry blueberry pancakes, smothered in odd tasting blueberry compote (to compensate for the dryness) for $16.00?? An extra $4.50 for 2 eggs?? The waitress was defensive & said "Our pancakes aren't dry!" C'mon, that's not acceptable. The restroom was dirty- literally every surface- also not acceptable. I truly don't understand why this place is so popular?

Every time we visit Atlanta we will be going here for breakfast!

Absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to go back! Everything we ordered was delicious but the biscuits were my favorite with the sauces/ jellies they come with.

Yum!

Food was delicious and well worth the wait! Pimento cheese was incredible! Lobster omelet was amazing! Will definitely do again on my next trip to Atlanta!

Went on a Sunday around noon - 30 min wait was worth it. I had the Short Rib - perfect for a cool fall Sunday. My husband had the Pimento Omelet - great combination of salty sweet bacon. The biscuits were very very good as well as I must recommend the pimento grits. Great service too! We will definitely return!

Chicken and biscuits were outstanding!

The biscuits were huge with a really good jalapeño jelly, combined with the chicken it was so good! The BELT was really good. I really loved the pickled tomato’s. Others in our party had the pancakes and French toast. The grits were good and we loved the corn bread! On weekends they serve chicken and waffles which sound amazing. Great food!!

Better than Average, Not Exceptional

We grew up in Atlanta and were in town for my High school reunion- Chamblee! Checked out Buttermilk Kitchen for breakfast Saturday morning. It is a small place with a bit of a parking issue. They do have a porch with seating as well as urns of coffee. They have wised up with the coffee while you are waiting program. You must go to the register and purchase your coffee, they give you a mug to then go and fill. If you want decaf they give it to you at the register...FYI. Someone mentioned the coffee is French press. The regular coffee is not French press. You can order French press and they will bring you the French press to your table, otherwise it should brewed. They have a basic menu. We both did the BYOB- Build Your Own Breakfast - two options: one egg and one side or two eggs and two sides with a biscuit. We both did the two and two, splitting a side of short stack pancakes which, honestly, were the best thing we ate. The eggs were fine. The grits was too stiff and not hot. I ordered the pimento grits, the flavor was good, I’ve had better. The biggest disappointment were the biscuits. They are big and look delicious. Unfortunately, they are greasy. Crusty in the outside. Look good. I ate maybe half, just too greasy. Very nice staff. They handle the crowd well. We were told it would be 20 to 25 minutes and it was between 15 and 20 when we arrived about 9:30 on a Saturday. It is very popular. Worth a visit. Everyone likes different biscuits and you may love them.

Totally worth the wait!

We showed up early to the restaurant expecting a long wait, and it sure was a long wait. But TOTALLY worth it! It was a chilly morning when we were there so we ordered coffee at the bar to warm us up while we waited and it did just the trick. The menu had SO many good things that we wanted to try. I almost wish we had visited with a group so we could get several things and share haha! The chicken and waffle sandwich is to die for and the gourmet pancakes are absolutely incredible. The location is what used to be someone's house and it's so cool because they have all the rooms labeled of what they used to be. Such a cute little place!

Excellent restaurant!

Lives up to its reputation

We were visiting Atlanta and went here because it is listed as one of the ten best places for brunch. Best breakfast ever. Their biscuits are amazing. Pancakes superb. Chicken and Waffle were perfection. They seem to have a large customer base. We waited 45 minutes but it was well worth it. Plenty of parking. Very nice staff.

Good food and nice service

There is no children's menu but my grandchildren were happy with the short stack of pancakes. Three of our party had the chicken biscuit, which was very good. Biscuit was very large and chicken was well fried. One member of our party had biscuits and gravy and was disappointed that gravy was too thin. Can be a wait as place is very popular. Staff nice and service good.

Local hangout. Super good

Brunch on weekends crazy crowded but it goes fast. Great food. The berry jam is not sweet which I like. Highly recommend

Worth the trip

A little out of the way. Not in downtown Atlanta but worth the trip. Highly recommend the chicken on a biscuit. The Red pepper jelly was outstanding as well as the cheesy grits. My wife had a traditional breakfast.
