Great evening, our first night in Atlanta, we were well looked after by James, our waiter for the evening. Delicious shrimp starter and steak main.interesting venue, with marble columns and amazing staircase . Part of the candler hotel.

We had an amazing dinner at The George restaurant, inside The Candler Hotel. The crab stuffed flounder was delicious but the highlight were the absolute perfect dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives that bartender Radcliffe crafted! As martini connoisseurs, we have to say that Radcliffe made the best extra dirty, extra dry martinis that we have ever had in a restaurant or bar setting! Ask for Radcliffe - great bartender, great attentive service!

Supreme. Since we checked in, we were very welcome. Beautiful secular restaurant. So beautiful the food was outstanding . I don’t have a word to describe the crew: from the host, maître up to the chef, all nice and friendly, but the best was the waiter: Tabby, thank you very much for everything , you are simple the best!

Knocked it out of the park! Wait staff and food was all great. Our meals looked good and tasted great. The manager was fantastic and connected us with other wait staff that were from our home state when he learned where we were from. Save room for dessert!!

Radcliffe was an amazing mixologist! He made the best skinny margarita I have ever had. If you come here, you should definitely ask for him!

Upon arrival you are greeted by a nice young man with seasons greetings. Put us in the holiday spirit. With validation we paid around $5. Great since it is in the city. We ordered the French toast with peaches, which leaned more toward slices of wonder bread with only a hint of peach flavor. The standout was the single-serve real Vermont maple syrup, which definitely helped. I had tea, and it felt worth the price — it was loose leaf, not bagged, and generous enough to serve more than one person. My mom ordered eggs with potatoes and bacon and really enjoyed it; everything was cooked exactly to her liking. My husband had the vegetable omelette with potatoes. It was fine, but the overall experience felt very corporate and somewhat overpriced — not surprising given the location and the fact that not much is open on Christmas morning. Service started off strong. Our original server was wonderful but had to leave for Christmas Mass, which was completely understandable. Unfortunately, the gentleman who took over never checked on our table. My mom eventually waved to another server (which I hate doing), and I was close to getting up myself to ask for help. Thankfully, the server who stepped in was exceptionally kind and attentive, which helped recover the moment. Overall, the staff was pleasant and the room nicely decorated, but the food and service were uneven for the price.

Upscale, moderately expensive fine dining. Attentive staff. Nice ambience. Interesting dishes. The salmon entre with broccolini and mashed potatoes was delicious. The restaurant is in an area filled with restaurants of all types , numerous upscale hotels with the subway just a block away.

Radcliffe and Paul took amazing care of the group I was in with for the week. After long meetings they always made the evenings great with their spectacular service. I highly recommend staying at this hotel and dining in the restaurant. It truly is a top notch experience, and I could t have asked for better service. Thank you so much to these gentlemen and the amazing staff!

Rafcliff, Paul, and Bryan were absolutely amazing! We will be back solely for them! Not only were they fun and pleasant to socialize with, they were kind and very quick with service.

We ate 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner here, and all were excellent. It’s not the cheapest place, but the food and service were excellent. The servers were all very friendly, and service was quick. I’d happily visit here again.

My husband and I went to this hotel on 10/17/24 for his birthday dinner at the restaurant By George. I have to say we had an incredible experience. Once we arrived inside the restaurant we were greeted by Catalina and she was so lovely and kind. She placed us at the corner table by the window and it was a lovely view. Our sever Winfield was excellent the whole time. He was very informative on the menu and has a great personality. Jonathan the manager was very hospitable and fantastic!!! He kept checking on us to make sure everything was going smoothly for my husband birthday celebration. The food was delicious and the presentation was outstanding. The lobby of the hotel is so beautiful and has a lot of history there. Overall our experience was beyond my expectations. Thank you to the staff who took care or us and made this night so memorable.

The Chandler Hotel is absolutely stunning. This historic building is filled with beautiful marble and bronze statues that make you feel immersed in Atlanta’s rich past. We even had the pleasure of seeing the Coca-Cola vault, which was such a special experience. There is so much history woven into every corner of the hotel. Jermaine was an amazing tour guide and brought the stories to life, and Silvia was incredibly pleasant and welcoming. Their hospitality truly made our stay wonderful and memorable.

Wow I can't believe this place has so many 5 star reviews. There are so many amazing Atlanta restaurants and this isn't one of them. Yes, it's beautiful but that's pretty much it. Cons - terrible service - not only slow and disorganized but the server didn't know the menu. Drinks were overpriced and underwhelming. Food would have been fine if we paid 1/2 of the cost. Pork was overcooked, salad was overdressed, pasta was meh. The bright spot in the meal was the side of broccolini! Overall, super disappointed.

The staff was friendly and very attentive! The atmosphere was beautiful and clean. The food was tasty but, expensive. We enjoyed the Hotel very much and again the whole atmosphere is worth it.

Great service, delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. I accidentally left my umbrella behind and the staff held it for me to return and pick up. Would definitely dine there again when in the area.

This place is in the Candler Hotel. Lucky us.... That's where we were staying. Stopped in a few times for drinks which where fantastic. Last night there we had supper. Seated right away. Service great and food was wonderful. Hope to make it back.

By George Restaurant is located in one of the few old, extremely elegant buildings left in downtown Atlanta. The restaurant is lovely and inviting. Unfortunately, the food leaves much to be desired. I ordered the shrimp and grits. For $25.00 I was served an appetizer size plate of plain white grits and three shrimp. My partner faired little better with the vegetable and pasta dish. I left hungry and disappointed.

Ate there on my last morning before catching my flight. Jasmine and Crystal were very sweet. I ordered The Chandler breakfast, which was very good. I will say I didn’t receive any condiments or plasticware, so make sure you ask for that. Other than that, I highly recommend it. Great space (check out the photos), great food, great service!

oday I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant. Normally I’m reluctant to visit a restaurant close to closing time. However, this restaurant and our server Tabbie did not disappoint. We arrived at 1:30 though they closed at 2:30pm. The food was delicious and the customer service from our waitress Tabbie was exceptional. I initially asked for a coffee with and she offered to prepare me a different experience other my normal coffee regimen. When I tell you…. her concoction did not disappoint my taste buds. The entire experience was a vibe. Due to this experience I have already booked a weekend stay at the hotel. I can’t wait to come back!!!

Deonna was the best server ever. She was very attentive and ensure my breakfast experience was superb. I ordered the scrambled eggs and added spinach to make it heathy. The food came quickly and all the staff were friendly.

Last night we enjoyed such a pleasant meal here including some of the best truffle fries and roasted baby carrots a person could find anywhere. But what really made our time wonderful was getting served by Rodney, who went out of his way to make us feel special. He noticed me looking at some of the old building photos on the wall and after dinner invited us down to the basement to see the original Coca Cola vault. Such fun. By George is fortunate to have such a kind, personable, and efficient waiter on its staff as Rodney.

We stayed at the hotel and ate breakfast and dinner. Food, drinks, and service was incredible! Kudos to Radcliff for his great service!

Radcliffe, JP and JR were the best! Customer experience from walking in the door to remembering our drink orders and making it a very memorable experience! Definitely visit the bar for sure! The entire restaurant and food was delicious! Great place to be for sure!

Cold breakfast after waiting for 30 minutes. Our server was very nice and the manager comped the meal, but cold Eggs Benedict is just a hard no at this price level.

We had a fabulous meal here! Deonna, our server, was kind, friendly and funny! The food and wine was delicious, the atmosphere beautiful, and it all made for a very special night out.

Fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere and the best bartender in Atlanta! Radcliffe Angus was amazing at the bar. He makes outstanding drinks, has a great sense of humor and always made sure we had everything we needed.

Great dinner spot in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Food was lovely and the service was first class. Jenny did very well and I hope to visit again soon!

Great service with a smile! Cudos to the management for hiring such attentive and experienced staff such as Shakay. She went above and beyond to address our needs. Give her a raise because she definitely makes By George a one of a kind experience! Looking forward to coming back AGAIN & AGAIN!

Server James was personable, warm and welcoming. He was on point on the food and beverages selection. When there was an issue, he immediately corrected it. He knew it was our anniversary and made it very special. Food was delicious and hot - lobster tempura and rigatoni. Airbus drinks were the best. Wonderful evening. We highly recommend.

I am sending so much gratitude to the magical Jonathan and James for their service last night. I had a business dinner that was scheduled at the last moment and Jonathan was so accommodating. He was able to find room for our large party on a Saturday night! James, our incredible server, not only had a fantastic personality but also delivered amazing service that brought so much joy to our cru. I hope the Candler knows what gems they have on these two. If you are lucky enough to come across them as guests, be sure to shower them with love and kindness.

The food and service are mediocre. The staff were nice, but had a difficult time with the actual serving of the food. Not recommended.

This restaurant is definitely highly rated for a reason. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is enticing as ever. Rodney was our server for breakfast and made sure to be extremely attentive as well as give us recommendations for things to do around the city. Our experience here was 10s across the board!

Me. Otis took care of the group I was in Atlanta for with care and compassion. When asked to provide more diet and sugar free options, Mr. Otis went above and beyond to make me feel seen and to accommodate my dietary needs. From diet soda to keeping the Splenda stocked for tea and coffee, he was AMAZING! I wish there was a Mr. Otis back home! I’m extremely impressed and super satisfied with the service I received! I will remember this hotel when I’m back in Atlanta again!

Deonna our waitress was excellent! Very attentive and made our birthday meal a one to remember! The food was delicious too! Thank you.

Tina and Paul were so friendly. Genuine people who create genuine conversations. I’m from abroad and yet i’ve never felt so at home. Will be back for sure,

What an amazing experience. I highly recommend this place and will absolutely come back to visit every time I travel to Atlanta. Atmosphere was immaculate. Classy but very cozy. Deonna was my server and she provided the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. She was so sweet and professional yet still made me feel like I was home. I left with my cheeks hurting after laughing and smiling from the time I walked in the door until the very moment I left. She made the dining experience top tier and so did the rest of the staff. Please go eat here if you are in town - you won’t regret it. Thank you Deonna!!

I went here for a friend's birthday. The food was fantastic! Our server, James, was incredibly attentive and made wonderful recommendations. I'd definitely come back!

The food was fantastic, the service was fantastic, and the had a violinist playing, oh my gosh, it was so beautiful, would definitely recommend.

Don't miss an opportunity to experience By George for dinner or brunch (we did both, and were staying at a different hotel, not the Candler). I had lamb and my wife shrimp & grits and we were so impressed, we returned the next day for brunch before leaving town. Whenever in the Peachtree area again, we'll make it a point to enjoy By George again.

Radcliff understood the assignment! I’m a local who was meeting my out-of-town mother and aunts and needed them to have plentiful well-made drinks to survive. Radcliff delivered, and by the time we left one of my aunts was giving him hugs and insisting he appear in a photo. We had had great food, drinks amd service in a beautiful atmosphere downtown Atlanta:

This review is based solely on my experience with JP in the resturant. "Wow" isn't good enough to describe the experience here. JP is very attentive, professional, and extelremly knowledgeable about the history of this location. JP turned what I was expecting to be a basic evening into a "whole experience". Since I've been home, I've told at least 3 friends who are visiting the area about this location and my experience with JP. What an asset to this historic location.

My husband and I chose By George for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant is located inside the beautiful historic Candler hotel. We started with an Old Fashioned, made perfectly. Shrimp and Grits is a favorite of mine, and this particular one is the best I've ever had. My husband had the house special, halibut, which was also outstanding. What really made our evening was the service. From start to well-beyond finish, Tabby went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. She took pictures of us throughout the evening, never rushed us, and before we walked out of the restaurant, she went out of her way to take us on a short tour of the safe that used to hold the secret Coca-Cola recipe. It is part of a private dining room. She took us up the grand marble staircase, pointing out the Tiffany glass windows and a few other details before she had to leave us. Tabby more than matched Chef Hugh Acheson's detail for perfection at By George.

really had a terrific dinner, service terrific, food excellent, atmosphere pleasant and not noisy our server Shavon was extremely pleasant and very interested in making us happy and accommodated all our needs.

The food was good. The service was even better. Shavon flawlessly handled a table of 18 people with our different requests and awesome recommendations. The scallops were great but the mashed potatoes had zero seasoning. Don’t order them. Overall great atmosphere, good food, and top notch service.

I work at a university close to By George Restaurant/Candler Hotel and, for years, have often taken colleagues for drinks and sometimes dinner here. It is a gorgeous restaurant with pretty solid service. Well above average food but probably the nicest ambiance in the area. I LOVE the bar though - really beautiful. I had an issue with a rogue employee and management responded very thoughtfully. If you're looking for a restaurant in the GSU area with a truly upscale ambiance, this is the place for you. I haven't stayed at the hotel yet but all indications are that it is top notch.

Love this place!! It’s one of historical buildings in Atlanta! If you have plan to Atlanta, you should visit this hotel! My server provided me an amazing service and a manager also touched my table to be sure all is good!! My experience at By George was on of my best dining experience!!Thank you and see you soon!!

Not sure where to start ? With this Amazing building , hotel , bar and secrets in the basement or ??? The absolutely amazing Staff , namely JP at the bar and Jerome that gave us the tour , also and I apologize I did not get her name , the lovely young woman from California working behind the bar as well ;) I would say If there is one thing I noticed about these people , they deeply care about the visitors and there experience in this beautiful building they all love. Five Stars and a must do …. Friday and sat for the secret tour not to be missed !

I have a very mixed feeling about our experience- our Server Shakay was incredible! Super friendly and helpful. Nothing but good things to say about her. Now- the food is a complete other story. We paid for a family brunch- over $400 dollars for a handful of meals and drinks. Any normal person would expect that for that ridiculous price, you would get delicious food and drinks. Chicken and waffles- I am tempted to use the word nasty. The sauce on that thing needs to be REMOVED from the menu- especially when it’s marketed as a sweet peach bourbon glaze but comes out as a vinegary mess. Not good. Espresso martinis came out looking like milk, also disappointing. Start charging reasonable prices or SERVE BETTER FREAKING FOOD

Do yourself a favor and check out By George in the gorgeous Candler Hotel. We had breakfast here and from start to finish, our meal could not have been more enjoyable and relaxing. Best coffee, great menu, excellent food, and phenomenal service by Rodney. He was just so helpful, pleasant, and professional. We can’t wait to come back!

My husband Rick chose By George for Sunday brunch, the service and atmosphere was great, the food was fabulous. I had the Chicken and Sweet Potato Waffles which were one of the best I’ve had. My husband had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes which he enjoyed tremendously. Our server Brian was attentive and knowledgeably, Rodney was great was well. We will definitely return.

Great food. Brian was very help and knowledgeable of menu. Beautiful decor and nice vibe ………………….we would return. We had chicken and sweet potato waffle.

Amazing time and our sever, Shakay was FABULOUS!!!! The food was delicious with a great selection. A good time was had by all!

Great cocktail. Lamb chops outstanding . Good atmosphere Service excellent. Shaved salad was very good. Convenient locationdowntpwn

Seated quickly with a reservation. Prompt service. Terrible appetizer. First batch of cornbread muffins came out with a refrigerator-cold middle. Ok, so not fresh out of the oven. “Chef whipped up a new batch” that had the same issue. Waiter started giving us the cold shoulder afterwards. Scallop dish was decent. Salmon dish was pretty salty.

By George, a restaurant named after the building architects, sits in the Candler Hotel, an iconic building on Peachtree in Downtown Atlanta. I stayed in the hotel so trying the restaurant is a must. The Candler building was built by Asa Candler, the Coca Cola founder. DCandler commissioned two architects, George Stewart and George E. Murphy to design the building. Both George. The ambience is beaux arts with tall marble pillars and crystal chandeliers. Everything is accented in gold. The food is contemporary American. I enjoyed the arugula salad with salmon. It was delicious. A perfect lunch. I also had the Asa old fashioned and the cheese plate later on the day. This spot boasts an extensive wine list and both a specialty cocktail and traditional cocktail list. Service was all fantastic.

Shakay was outstanding! Had amazing recommendations was right on top of us as well as everyone around us. Was a very enjoyable service and food was amazing. Shakay was very relatable and a fantastic server.

In town for an event and stopped in for breakfast. Rodney provided great service and the food was awesome! Will definitely come back.

Went there with a friend on Sunday morning. Very nice selection of food, very well prepared, beautiful atmosphere. So many restaurants in Atlanta have only very high calorie, high-cholesterol, items on their menu, and this one has them, too, but it also has other selections, which was necessary due to dietary restrictions of my friend. Our server, Brian, was beyond superb. Extremely friendly and personable, just the right amount of attention — missed nothing but without being even the slightest bit intrusive. I thanked the food and beverage manager, Jonathan, for Brian’s great service, and he was also extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.

This was my first visit. I don't think it will be my last. The food was good and the service was better. Shakay was informed, engaging and courteous. Her food suggestions were excellent.

We were passing through Atlanta on Father's Day, and looking for somewhere to take my husband for a great steak within walking distance from our hotel. We loved By George! Our server was Elida, and she was fantastic. She made us feel comfortable and helped us decide what to get. My husband had the Cowgirl with mashed potatoes, my son had the Filet with french fries, and I had the Tagliolini Primavera. All entrees were wonderful. The french fries were really good, and the catsup was actually amazing. My husband would have switched his potatoes for the french fries after trying some. My pasta was a veggie-lover's delight. All veggies were perfectly cooked, crisp and fresh. Elida was able to get the bartender to make my son a really delicious and beautiful mocktail, which he loved. We shared the peach bread pudding for dessert, which was amazing!! After dinner Elida gave us a tour of this historical gem of a hotel. *Hint -- if you're a Coca-Cola history buff or a fan of architecture or mechanical engineering, you've got to see it!! Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience. You will pay for it, which is the only down side, but it was a special occasion, and we found it well worth it. Ask for Elida!

By George delivers an exceptional dining experience, combining great food, a wonderful ambiance, and top-notch service. From the moment you step in, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, setting the perfect stage for a memorable meal. The service is seamless—attentive yet unobtrusive, making you feel truly welcomed.

I come here often for work and love the service. My favorite sever is Elida. She is so sweet and remember details. For example I would always ask for lemons with my water. She remembered this and had them ready for me at breakfast. I really appreciate things like that. I will continue to come here because of tje great serve they provide. All the employees overall are a pleasure to experience.

Wow. Totally shocking that this restaurant is rated so highly. We had a lovely waitress, Jenny, and that was the only positive of the meal. The sole and spinach were so salty, I couldn’t eat them. My husband’s ‘filet’ was very fatty. The carrots were very pretty but cooked to mush. We are from the Indianapolis area and have the option of excellent food in our little burb of Zionsville every night. We expected so much more of Atlanta and By George.

Absoluutely Wonderful ! -Outstanding service: courteous, helpful, reponsive to requests. -Excellent food: very good ingredients, well-prepared, well-presented. -Lovely atmosphere: architecture, decor, tables and dinner-ware as well. Perfect Place in Atlanta !

We had an amazing breakfast with out of town guests to celebrate their 1st anniversary! Food was delicious (shrimp and grits were on point) but perhaps the best part was the 5-star treatment from our server, Tabby! She even gave us a tour of the building to share a little of its history, and we got to see the secret vault! She really went above and beyond! Thank you, Tabby!

Always wanted to stop in and I'm glad I did. The ambiance was very chill and posh but not intimidatingly upscale. Jenny was super attentive and sweet and made me feel like a million bucks. The rigatoni was a tad salty but the portion and sauce to pasta ratio was perfect. Also the Tres Leche is amazing!

I thought it was a very good meal (I had the NY Steak and my wife had a chicken dish). My favorite part of the meal was the bread rolls that they served. They were sooooo good! I think I ate 3 or 4 of them prior to the entree' arriving. Unfortunately, I did not care for the bread pudding. I recommend going once and then making your own decision. Be ready to pay more than normal. It is expensive.

Radcliffe at By George was amazing. Food and service were A+. Hotel was in a great location and I look forward to coming back. Close to everything!

Great food, great service. Shakay was an excellent server. I ordered burger, cooked perfectly, partner ordered eggs bene, also prepared perfectly. Will be back.

Tabby was my server and gave me the best experience one can expect. Her attention to detail and efficiency were definitely appreciated. I will recommend others to come here just to experience the quality of service she gave. 10 stars.

This restaurant is in a hotel but don’t let that fool you. Beautiful architecture, very well lit. Friendly staff too. Our server Rodney was very attentive and engaging making sure our party has everything without rushing us. Overall, the food was well prepared and well cooked. I recommend. Advise to potential customers: the hotel offers valet parking for plenty of $$. Street parking is available, just be patient.

By George has a very elegant feel with a within a building with a beautiful exterior topped by the large marble pillars and chandeliers throughout the restaurant. The food exceeds those expectations from a taste and portion perspective. The Lamb Shank I got was probably the best lamb I have ever had. By George is great to celebrate any occasion, even if its just a night out for a great dinner.

Great food, lovely atmosphere. Rodney’s recommendation of shrimp & grits was the perfect choice. He was attentive and friendly.

I had a fantastic Saturday brunch at 'by George' in the Candler Hotel in Atlanta. Rodney, our server, was exceptional - attentive and personable. The food, especially the lobster sliders and coffee, was great, and the Bloody Mary was outstanding. I highly recommend this place for a delightful brunch experience!

Excellent birthday lunch experience! I took my colleague there for a surprise birthday lunch and everything was phenomenal! We were so lucky to have Shakay as a server, She was absolutely amazing.

An amazing experience, very good comfort and above all the human warmth of your staff Ratih, Jermane and Natalia were the people who attended us too well and with a beautiful kindness

Great cocktails and good food in downtown Atlanta. I visited this restaurant on a Thursday at 5:30pm after a long day at a conference. For 1 person, no tables were available, but there were seats available at the bar. I, unfortunately, could not see much of the restaurant itself since the bar is right by the entrance. Service was immediate and the cocktail the bartender made were spot on. The shrimp and grits has some heat to it, but it was good. I actually liked my cocktail more than my food. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, just make a reservation even if only for one person.

Tina at the bar is amazing. Her espresso martinis are to DIE FOR. 100% recommend the drinks, food, and atmosphere. Will be back.

In Atlanta on business, I was pleased to see that the #1 Trip Advisor rated restaurant was only a five minute walk from my hotel. I was pleased until I was there. The menu is lackluster, same ole same ole. The wine list is short, uninspired, and overpriced. Had the burrata salad, which was good but bland, asked for balsamic vinegar, was given salad dressing. The service was ok, but not professional, and they decided to serve the main course when we were one forkful into the salad. It was refused and I asked for fresh plates they said, “of course”, but that didn’t happen. They lied. My filet was served bare with only a dollop of salty gravy, was barely warm, tough and chewy. My client said the salmon was ok but a little overdone and the sides were too cool. I’m not familiar with Atlanta, but there has to be better places than this. This place is mediocre at best, done get fooled by the rating.

Delicious cocktails and appetizers. This is the perfect restaurant for date night. The atmosphere is perfect and the staff are friendly.

I can say that it is the worst meal I have ever eaten in my life. I ordered a simple salad. I will share the picture. You will see that they could not bring olive oil. Instead of olive oil, frying oil came. Everything was incredibly bad.

Completely blown away from the service! This was our first time coming in and Bryan was the best! He helped us navigate through the menu and gave us excellent recommendations. The best food and service we’ve ever had!

My company was in town for a large conference, myself and my colleagues enjoyed having a couple drinks by the bar. All the bartenders were attentive and made delicious drinks. Radcliffe especially insured we had a great time and was a delight to interact with!

The restaurant was great. Great service and the salmon was amazing. The atmosphere was good the bartender Radcliff was very good. Helpful with his recommendations and the drinks were on point. I would certainly go there again. Had an amazing time

We had the French toast, traditional breakfast, and biscuits & gravy. All three were perfect. When you are looking on Trip Adviser at the menu prices don’t let it hold you back. It is worth every dollar. We stayed at the Omni and had a nice walk over to the hotel. Our server Rodney was amazing. I would specifically ask for him to too things off. He had great recommendations and came back to check on us at perfect intervals. This is a skill that I wish more servers had. Check this place out. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Radcliff gave me the best recommendation for food and Paul makes the best cocktails. I really think they should be commended for handling the bar the way they do! They're friendly and service is amazing.

Ordered their premium ribeye at $77 (no sauce or trimmings with that) and was disappointed that it arrived lukewarm and over cooked. There was a dribble of peppercorn sauce to help swallow the dry meat. Truffle fries and Brussels sprouts were excellent on the other hand and the service was very good.

The staff was super attentive and quick. The food was good, and I misspoke when ordering, but the waitress went out of her way to fix the order.

This was our first time dining at By George restaurant. My husband and I went on behalf of Cedinthecity Scholars to meet and have lunch with the 2024 scholarship recipient. It was a very special occasion, and the restaurant had the perfect ambiance to present the award. Exceptional service from the moment we arrived, particularly from Tabby and Jonathan. Tabby’s upbeat vibe was refreshing. She and Jonathan expressed care for our cause and helped us to congratulate the winner….complete with cake and a serenade by Tabby which was totally unprompted. She was gracious to take several photos of us and then gave us a tour of the restaurant with interesting historical content. We enjoyed our meal and look forward to going back for brunch.

Although a hotel Restaurant, this is a really. Ice place in the office desert of Atlanta. Very good tomato soup and excellent fried lobster. Nice atmosphere.

Service was amazing. If you are hitting the bar, make sure Tina and Paul are working the spot. You will not be disappointed 👌

Very nice atmosphere, and great food! Loved the ambiance and the friendly staff. We will be back soon to try more food and drinks!

This is a charming restaurant with a great menu — try the tomato soup! My party had the rigatoni, the fillet, and the pork chop — everyone raved about their meals. And, the bread pudding — Oo la la! Great place for a romantic evening or a date night.

Our first time to visit. Great food great service. Very friendly folks. Angilee was our server. She was fantastic ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Try By George. You will be glad you did. ❤️

We were staying at the Candler hotel and were surprised that one of the highest rated restaurants in the city was in the hotel. 4 of us (my wife and I and 2 daughters) had dinner. The atmosphere is fairly casual, as is the decor, I would say most people were in business casual attire. Waitstaff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Cornbread muffins, a specialty of the restaurant, were amazing- moist, somewhat sweet and heavy with corn. A hit with everyone. My daughters shared the burrata and heirloom tomatoes and really enjoyed it. Entrees- trout, salmon, hamburger and rigatonni bolognese- all very good. It is rare to find authentic bolognese - most restaurants just call their meat sauce that, but this was the real deal- carrots, celery, onions, tomatoes and some meat in the correct proportions, with perfectly cooked pasta- great. Likewise my family all felt the same about their food. Not that pricy for such an exquisite meal!

Shakay and Akira were absolutely fabulous! The food was fresh and delicious! I highly recommend!

Cool vibe. JP at the bar is always helpful. Love the Asa’s Old Fashioned. Good apppetizers as well. The meatballs and lamb chops are excellent!

Tomato soup, delicious, hearty, flavorful. Candler salad mixed greens, nice dressing, candied pecans. $17 no protein, canned peaches? wet, yuck texture. Georgia peaches delicious this time of year.

It is in the hotel and does a lot of hotel business. We were there for breakfast. The drinks (espressos, coffee, tea, etc.) were all really good. The atmosphere and service were both good. The food was a bit meh. The biscuits were overly dry and not very interesting, although the gravy was pretty good. The sausages were very dry and the fruit salad was very small and uninteresting. The grits were endless - giant bowl of grits. Although when I looked at other people's plates, I don't think that anyone really had a large plate of anything. The plates looked a little bare. I think in general though, we just selected the wrong things and should have gone for more things like eggs and bacon, pancakes, and french toast. For the price, I just didn't think it was the best.

We were staying at the Candler hotel and went for drinks at By George both nights of our stay. Radcliff was our bartender both nights and was so friendly! Made amazing drinks and made us feel right at home! Highly recommend stopping in for drinks and dinner!

Atmosphere is charming but it can get loud. The mussels were perfectly seasoned. We even took home the extra broth to make a soup. Candler Salad was over-dressed for my taste but such a wonderful combination. Next time I would get the dressing on the side. Note when they ask you if you want a bread service there is an $8 charge for delicious corn muffins. The risotto was made well and an ample portion

Oh my goodness! This place is so delicious, and the wait staff is so attentive. It was such an amazing experience that we ate here three times over our two day trip! We had the filet, truffle fries, asparagus, risotto, peach bread pudding, gravy and biscuit bowl, and pancakes. All amazing!! The best was the cornbread muffins! I could eat those forever. We also have a couple of allergies. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had amazing food without the allergens. My STK loving son said that By George is now his all time favorite restaurant!!

If you're lucky, James will be your server. He made wonderful suggestions and he's exceptionally charismatic. I had the Mahi Mahi added from the special to my risotto - fantastic. Additionally I had a rum cocktail that's mixed with wine and it was absolutely refreshing. I ended my evening with a creme bruleé which paired wonderfully with my meal. I did try the peach bread pudding but it was just okay. If it was just a tad bit more wet in the center, maybe spiked with a rum, soaked in liquid or even a simple syrup, it would've had me. Overall, this was a perfect post race meal. This former chef approves and I'd come back several times over.

Pete was our server and was amazing. He was very helpful with the food and also places to go in town. The grouper was delicious. I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts also. My husband stated the rigatoni bolognese was scrumptious. Thank you Pete.

I ordered the scallops. Only 3 of them and perfectly cooked - best scallops I have had in years. They came with what was described as cauliflower with carrots and asparagus with Serrano infused oil. That description didn’t indicate how tasty they were. Dessert had lots of great options. I picked the crème brûlée which was a generous size with some fresh raspberries and blueberries to help offset the sweetness. The margarita and China China Amer were both very generous servings so I couldn’t finish them both. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Thursday night. The space is amazing as is the foyer of the hotel you walk through to get to the restaurant.

Our server Sharkay was Amazing!!! She was very helpful with our menu selection, and was sure to facilitate our order back to our table. The food was excellent! She also gave us a tour of this beautifully constructed building. The architecture they maintained is exquisite and her breadth of knowledge made it enjoyable as well. It was nice to see such plesantries with all of the staff we encountered, and added their anecdotes and showed us some more historical areas! I will definitely return again! Bravo Sharkay!

I’m not sure how all the other reviews were positive. Service was slow, our steaks were luke warm and over cooked. The sides had no flavor. The people were nice, but didn’t seem concerned about customer service. We thought we were going to a nice steakhouse, but it was more like a Texas Roadhouse. Very underwhelming for $300.

We live in Atlanta and walked down to By George for brunch! It was amazing! Rodney was very attentive! We had the biscuits and gravy and potatoes and it was the BEST biscuits and gravy I've ever had! They also had live music! I would highly recommend!!

We were surprised and impressed by the beauty of the hotel and restaurant. The service was impeccable. I’m a fan of shrimp and grits, and this was the best I’ve ever had. Romantic.

We ate dinner and breakfast with various colleagues in the hotel's restaurant, By George. Everyone was immensely impressed and had nothing but compliments to say. By George Was no exception to the Candler’s high quality and elegance. Unlike the Atlanta Grill at the Ritz Carlton, By George provided a superior dining experience without an ounce of unnecessary pretension which is often plentiful at the ’s Atlanta Grill. By George is hands down one of the top dining experiences in the Atlanta area.

I chose The Candler Hotel because of its proximity to the location for my business conference. I was there for two nights. The experience was superb from the greeting by the valet staff to check in to my dining experience at the bar Saturday evening. The young man who seated me didn’t miss on the shrimp and grits recommendation. The stay was especially memorable because of the doorman, Jermaine, and Natalia who worked checkout. Jermaine’s pride in his work and his presence made me proud and blessed that I got to meet him. He became a part of my lesson to my students and audience for my education consulting business on how to show up for work.

Deonna was amazing! The best service and still got us in even though they were close to closing. I would recommend to everyone

Best bar in ATL! Creative craft cocktails and delicious bites. Radcliff and Paul took care of us with great drink recommendations. They also shared knowledge of the area and upcoming events. A must visit!

We had an excellent week of dinners but our server Elida was the highlight. She was amazing! So attentive, kind and helpful!

We had lunch and breakfast here during a recent stay at the Candler Hotel. The food was very good as was the service. Lots of options for breakfast. Not that many at lunch but you’ll likely find something to your liking. Prices were high but not out of line with what most hotels charge. Not a destination restaurant but a good choice if you’re staying at the Candler or nearby,

Excellent food! Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend this restaurant and would go back.

The bartender Paul and David GM were awesome! Both super friendly and would come back again. Great drinks and service!

Excellent hotel, 5 stars service and people who treated us like home in the best way. They're excellent. Natalia gave us the best care and very friendly. Also Ratih and Jermane super attention

Our small band of compadres was served by a most amazing server, Radcliffe. He was attentive, polite and professional. A breath of fresh air in an era of lax customer service. Go to By George and ask for him. Excellent hospitality and service.

My daughter and I stayed at The Candler Hotel for 4 nights and ate dinner at By George 3 times! The restaurant staff is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food is out of this world incredible! My daughter and I are “foodies” and found every single dish to be incredible. Their appetizer muffins are so light, tasty and favorable that we got them every night. We ordered 6 different entrees from meat, seafood and pasta and each one was superb. We did not have one issue with anything we ordered and absolutely savored every morsel of everything we ordered. The restaurant supervisor, James, remembered us and was solicitous and extremely welcoming. His staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. If we had stayed longer, we would have eaten there again. We were sad to leave and return home. You should definitely try By George.

My wife and I went to By George last night. Beautiful place. We ended up having a great time, and eating some amazing food, but it did not start out well at all. When we were seated our water glasses were filled by our waitress and she said she would be right back to take our drink order. Sounded good, but we waited, and waited and waited. After maybe 10 minutes we looked around and noticed she was working a large group of maybe 14 at the same time. We were amazed By George did this, but so far we weren’t upset enough to ask for a manager. She finally came, took our drink order, and said she was sorry for the delay and would be right back to bring us our drinks and take our food order. Now it got out of hand. We waited, and waited, and waited. At least 15 minutes, if not more. It was getting ridiculous. Soo, we had finally had enough and flagged down the first waiter we saw and asked him (James) if he would please help us. I got to tell you, our evening changed immediately! He was wonderful. He took our order and began making sure we were well taken care of, all the time in an extremely personable and friendly manner. We pretty much bonded with him in short order, and had a truly fantastic evening from then on, to include deciding to have a drink at their beautiful bar after we finished our meal. A couple of final comments. 1) I can’t emphasize enough how James saved the meal for and if management reads this review, I will just say you have a keeper there for sure, and proper recognition should be a given). 2) The other thing I want to say is why on earth would our first waiter be assigned our table when she was working a large party at the same time. That is a recipe for disaster, and it was surely heading that way for us, until we “hailed down” James. All was good from then on and instead of a 1 star rating, you get a 5.

Superb service with great ambiance disappointed! Bar snd Restaurant! Radcliff was delightful behind the bar. Kind and respectful - great drinks! The restaurant is top notch. Sterling welcomes you to a memorable experience! Food is really delicious - great presentation! Angie and Irish are great servers. They want to please and are very attentive! You will not be disappointed!

Excellent hotel and service, very close to the Georgia Exhibition Center. Natalia took care of us very well, always willing to help us and absolved all our doubts.

Radcliff was awesome and provided excellent service. ............................................... ........

I have never felt so seen and understood when I checked in for the first time here at The CANDLER HOTEL with their amazing restaurant called by George with their awesome chef JULIO, and team Elida plus of course when I arrived with no sleep from Seattle, their front desk NATALIA made sure I can rest well and gave me a room right away as part of Hilton Honors. Shout out also to their concierge the best Jermaine and team quickly got my heavy luggage from the drop off they were so alert and energetic! Exactly what we need. I got my divine sleep, super tasty food from by George, got to know lovely souls like Irish who does the extra mile so authentic people here that what makes it so worthwhile to stay, sleep, eat and win businesses in Atlanta. I pray for your happiness and success everyone! Pls visit and let them serve you. Respect and love, RIA RODRIGUEZ - RICHARDSON

We had an amazing experience at By George thanks to Tina and Paul! They were incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. They got our expresó martinis exactly right and delivered quick, efficient service without ever making us feel rushed. It’s clear they take pride in what they do, and it really shows. Great drinks, great energy, and outstanding bartenders—we’ll definitely be back!

First thing first… this restaurant is a place that I hoped would meet my expectations and it did not… it EXCEEDED my frickin expectations all the way from the environment to the customer service…. The energy was superb from both waiters/waitresses and my fellow diners… I had on the black ones and the black skully with the dreads hanging out and still felt welcomed although it’s a high end restaurant. Our waiter BRIAN was the best waiter I’ve ever had to be completely honest… not only did he remember our very complicated order but he showed great character, consideration, and patience etc. I can tell that he was actually a genuine person at work and outside of work… very cool and laid back … also knowledgeable with a sense of humor… he knew everything there was to know about the food choices on the menu… and unlike most people he proved himself worthy as far as me being able to trust his judgement which is extremely rare… perhaps he’s the only reason our experience was top tier! If he’s your waiter then you lucked up! And you better tip nice! Nothing less than $30 … I’m not exaggerating I don’t ever write reviews tbh but he earned it … if I ever own a restaurant in the future I’m going to come back and find that guy… seriously

A fantastic atmosphere and good vibe in a historic building. Radcliff took great care of us. The service and food were spectacular!

Great food and excellent service - we had shrimp/grits and roasted chicken - both were very good - with appetizer of meatballs. After dinner we had a wonderful tour of the hotel and vault - by Jerome (who was outstanding!). We will return.

As a Macon, GA resident, I often find myself arriving late at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Instead of driving home late, I prefer to take MARTA directly to Peachtree Center and stay at the fantastic Candler hotel there. The next morning, I always look forward to breakfast at By George. I've been fortunate to have Rodney as my server for breakfast and brunch many times. His friendly service and conversation, combined with the restaurant's excellent menu, always make for an enjoyable experience. My go-to is their delicious omelet, and I highly recommend substituting the fried potatoes for their southern-style grits, which are consistently hot, creamy, and fluffy. Their coffee is also wonderful! Plus, it's a great value for Diamond members using their food & beverage credit. Rodney shared that he's moving to Chicago soon, and he'll definitely be missed. I'll be back next month and wholeheartedly recommend By George for weekend brunch. I've never had a bad meal there; the food is consistently warm, and the service is always excellent.

Stumbled upon By George on the way to a concert downtown and stopped in for pre-game drinks & bites. Radcliffe made one of the best dirty martinis I’ve ever had and the truffle fries were fantastic. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the mood for good food, great drinks and even better conversation from Radcliffe and the entire bartender team. The music was also highly Shazamable. Fantastic night!

Our server at By George was fabulous! James was knowledgeable, helpful, professional and engaging without being obtrusive. We will always want to have him as our waiters - like some of the classic New Orleans restaurants where you ve your designated waiter-and I'm sure the Candlers would be glad to know that someone like James is representing their brand

Delicious food and lovely ambiance! Shakay was a joy. Shrimp and grits are ahhhhhhhhmazing. Cute stone lion out front.

This restaurant is amazing. The food was phenomenal and if it's crowded don't wait for a table. Sit at the bar and Radcliff and Paul will take the best care of you! It was so good we went twice during a 4 day trip!!!! Eat whatever Radcliff suggests and you will not be disappointed!

Epic failure. I ate dinner here with my 15 year old daughter. As recommended by the server, I ordered the rigatoni bolognese. My daughter ordered the filet medium rare with mashed potatoes. We waited quite a while for our food however, I made it clear that we were not in a hurry. When our food came out, it was obvious that my pasta had been sitting under the lights for some time. My pasta was, for the most part, cold. (see photo) Flavor was average. My daughter’s filet was very rare and also cold (see photo). When the server asked about our food, I was polite yet honest and explained the problem. She was appropriately mortified and took the dishes back. I requested the risotto in place of the rigatoni as it was nothing special. The replacement food came out quickly. The risotto flavor was okay but very mushy. My daughter received a new filet and potatoes. Filet tasted like char and was unedible. Management came over and was also polite and respectful regarding feedback. The manager commented that that was not the first time he had heard the char feedback regarding the filet. The manager offered a free dessert as compensation for this epic failure from the chef/kitchen. Server recommended the tres leches dessert. It came out quickly and was essentially a coffee tiramisu. Again nothing special. I then received the bill and was charged for both meals and the cornbread despite the fact that our feedback both times was unacceptable. I can understand charging for one set of meals but as both sets of meals were sorely disappointing, I would expect management to comp the meals rather than a dessert and did not feel that this is something that would have needed spelling out. It is very disappointing that a restaurant of this apparent quality had failed both in regard to quality of food as well as handling of the situation. Recommend eating at Nikolai’s Roof. Absolutely amazing and worth every penny. Positives: Ambiance gorgeous. Wait staff was very good. Cornbread biscuits were amazing. Mashed potatoes were delicious.

I stayed here during the week on business and had a great time! Keyana helped me with a late night check in - great service! Great stay!!

What a wonderful evening. Came here for a birthday dinner and everything from the staff to our food was fantastic. James was our server and was so much fun. He provided great service, fun interactions, and made some amazing suggestions on food and drink- he really elevated the experience! We got the Lobster Tempura, Lamb Lollipops, and the famous house cornbread biscuits and it was all done to perfection. Plus, James brought out a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl. Excellent meal in an excellent environment.

The food was absolutely amazing and Deonna was fantastic! Our steaks were cooked to perfection, sides were bliss and the cocktails were perfectly balanced and refreshing. 10/10 would recommend!

This place is amazing. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and appetizers. The mussels were incredible. Radcliff took care of us. Great customer service and very friendly. We will definitely be back!

Rodney was excellent. Quick service, great conversation, wonderful recommendations and made our visit feel like we had been locals for years. 10/10 experience. Thank you Rodney for a perfect start to our morning.

James made our girls night!!! His charming, upbeat energy along with his professional service and recommendations just made the food taste even better! Kudos to the kitchen..our group had drinks, salads (fresh & crisp), cheese plate ,filet mignon with sides (cooked perfect ), tempura lobster(a must), dover sole. Another must get , the sweet biscuits! Cant wait to make our next reservation

My server was Shakay, she was very kind and went above and beyond in her service! Everyone was so nice and accomadating and the food was good and came out quickly.

We really enjoyed the food and service at By George. Our server, James, was excellent! The food was great with perfect size servings. We will go again when we visit Atlanta. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. And the restrooms are fabulous.

I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his accomplishment of becoming a commercial pilot and man oh man did this restaurant come through for us! I called a couple days beforehand asking if they could do anything to help me celebrate him, and they said yes. I was not expecting much, maybe a little congratulations written on his plate for dessert, but boy was I wrong. From start to finish, the manager and staff interacted with us and made us feel so special. Everyone there is so warm. They brought us a free bottle of Prosecco (Oh. My. Goodness.) to be able to have a celebratory toast, wrote my boyfriend a handwritten card, and even gave him free dessert that they artfully crafted to look like an airplane with whipped cream behind it for the clouds with the word “takeoff” written in chocolate. I cannot recommend this establishment or staff enough. If you want your special someone to feel loved on their big day, this is the place to go! The food was exquisite as well. We got the mussels, cornbread, bolognese, shrimp and grits, candler salad, and truffle fries. We will DEFINITELY be returning. Thank you so much James and Jonathan, and everyone else that could make this might happen. We love you!

As is my normal process, when I go to a new city (or a city I haven’t been to in ages), I research it on Trip Advisor. Since this is the number one restaurant in Atlanta, I made sure to work it into my busy schedule. My coworker and I went there together and we had a good meal and great service. The restaurant is located in the Candler Hotel and is all very posh. It is a popular happy hour spot for business people and was loud when we entered. The dining room is small but even the short distance we were from the bar made all the difference. Elida was our waitress and very helpful. I got a glass of wine and the wild mushroom risotto and my coworker got the lemon sole. The Riesling was excellent and my risotto was perfectly cooked. My coworker loved the sole and devoured it all. I ate a little slower but we had a nice time chatting, eating and talking about the event we were in town for. The prices matched the ambiance but I went in knowing that was the case. If you use valet and eat at the restaurant be sure to pay the discounted price and have your ticket validated.

This beautiful restaurant located in the historic Candler Hotel in Atlanta is a must! I can’t say enough about By George! I was traveling to Atlanta for an event with my husband and our trip happened to fall on his 55th birthday. I made lunch reservations a month in advance and contacted the hotel to ensure my reservation for a party of 13 would be acceptable. The manager, Diego, was a joy to work with! He was super kind, patient, and reassured me that they could handle everything. On the day of the event, Diego and the entire staff were exceptional! The food was delicious! I highly recommend the Arugula shaved cauliflower salad with chicken— OMG! It was so good! Our waitress Shakay was absolutely amazing. She was thoughtful, courteous, and sweet. She knew the menu really well and helped everyone make their selections. Shakay— THANK YOU FOR BEING SO AWESOME! From planning this surprise luncheon, to the food, service, and outstanding staff, My experience at By George was a true 10 out of 10! Don’t miss this beautiful hotel and restaurant when you’re in Atlanta! My husband and I can’t wait to go back!

Otis was amazing, funny, and very caring. 10 out of 10! He made me laugh at least three times during our conference. He was very attentive.

Absolutely delicious and great service. Try the salmon and the Caesar salad. The old fashioned was well made. Red velvet cake was fresh

By George restaurant and bar has delicious and flavorful food and drinks in a cool and unique atmosphere. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure you have everything you need.

Loved the hotel ambiance! Beautiful architecture and great service. Our server Rodney was amazing and gave us a tour of the vault which was fantastic and interesting. The shrimp and grits were delicious, as well as the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes! Yum. Thanks Rodney you made the ending of our stay enjoyable.

It was a great experience. Very nice amenities and great people that makes everything easier. Thanks to Natalia for such a great support in the front desk and all people who assisted me at the door entrance and general reception.

Met up with some friends visiting Atlanta here at By George and was so pleasantly surprised with the service and food! I arrived first and our server Ligi quickly brought me coffee and chatted with me while I waited for my friends. Once my friends came in, the server suggested a few entrees. One person in our party is gluten free so ligi was quick to suggest a variety of things she could eat. We ended up ordering the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes, the eggs Benedict, and some really delicious soft scrambled eggs. Everything was so so good! I could eat those pancakes every day! Our server was attentive, quick, and really seemed to love what she did. I’ll come back to By George for sure!

Everything here is well done! Hospitality, food, ambiance, interior and location. In the Chandler Hotel this very nice restaurant! We will come back.

Wonderful evening at this restaurant, all six of us were very pleased with our food selection. Had a round corner table, giving us a view of this fun restaurant. The staff was very attentive - from reception through our amazing sweet person.

Excellent, and elegant, downtown Atlanta restaurant. Beautiful historic building, and location, with incredible, street-level, downtown views. The menu was broad but still focused. The preparations were updated, but classic. The food was perfectly prepared and the wait staff, James, was perfectly timed - on it but not hovering - really just about perfect. Also... the wine selection was the exact same description and was very, very, well priced. Absolutely recommend the By George.

We have been here several times and the food is always fantastic. But the server Shakay was the best part of our most recent visit. The cornbread muffins are the best we’ve ever had.

Happened on to the Candler by chance! Rerouted on the west to Savannah due to hurricane and booked an overnight at the hotel. All worked out too well. Hotel is beautiful and clean. Room is king bed with city view. By George was another happy coincidence. Had cocktails that were excellent and early dinner. Pete did an awesome job making sure we never had a need for anything. Appetizer was the meatballs. Had the lamb chops, brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes, wife had the fried lobster tail with spicy ginger rice. Appetizer was average, entrée’s were great! Good portion of side dishes. Had read about the vault on here and fortunately Pete brought up the history of the hotel and the vault!! Great spot with wonderful history! Put it on your list to see and do.

Radcliff at By George is the best!!! The food is phenomenal and the service is even better!! Could not recommend more! Had the burrata and the lamb chops and the peach bread pudding. We will absolutely be back here again and of course, asking for Radcliff!

Deonna our server was awesome !! The best. Good was delicious , atmosphere on point and it was a sweet gesture of dessert for me sitters birthday.

J our host gave us Great service and food recommendations. The hospitality and service was excellent!

Outstanding service and ambiance. Wait or was very friendly. Live, relaxing music added to the atmosphere. Food was prepared well and very tasty. Compliments to the chef.

Hard to believe that this is the best restaurant in Atlanta. It’s good, but nothing special. The dining room is attractive but not particularly comfortable. And it is extremely noisy. The night we were there it was almost full with assorted business people in groups of 6 or more and their reveling was clearly enjoyable to themselves but not to those of us looking to enjoy a quiet dinner. The menu was pretty good and the mussels starter quite tasty. We each ordered the sea scallops which were very good. Our server Shavon was pleasant and efficient. All in all, a pretty good experience. But tops in Atlanta? No way.

We had amazing service. Shakay was super attentive and pleasant. The food was great as well! Ask for her when you come here!

Was staying in the Candler hotel for business and decided to stop in on our way back from dinner for dessert and coffee. It was approximately 9 PM and the dining room was practically empty. I was informed by the host that they could not seat us for dessert and coffee in their empty room unless we planned on ordering an entrée. We passed. All in all the customer service of this establishment is just terrible. We had been there the day before, and the food and beverage was at best mediocre. Then too the service was lacking. The only way that anyone would consider this a fine dining experience is if they had never actually eaten at a fine dining establishment that actually knew how to prepare food , cocktails and afford their customers decent service. I saw this place was rated #2 in Atlanta!?!?! I’d hate to think of what number 3 is but I can only assume they must serve greasy food on thin paper plates. Do yourself a favor and just avoid this place. It is, imo, overpriced and overrated.
Top experience !
We visited Atlanta for the first time, coming from Michigan. We stayed in the Candler and ate at By George twice. Both nights we were served by Micah. It was PHENOMENAL. We had the filet, lobster tail, kids chicken tenders with fries, and shrimp with grits, and all were incredibly delicious. The second night we had dessert, including red velvet cake and the homemade ice cream, and they can’t be topped. Try the Southern Heart cocktail for a special treat. Micah was kind to our children and helped us truly enjoy our experience. Will definitely come back to By George and the Candler!
