Great local hangout

By John A |

Tuesday night’s special was short rib tacos, which was pulled BBQ rib meat in soft tacos, with chips and green salsa. The salsa had added avocado and medium spicy (very tasty). It was a nice portion, not too big. The tacos had plenty of meat, tasted very good, and were filling. There are several wines available by the glass or bottle, and a selection of local beers. It was not very crowded when I was there, but it seemed quieter than what I expected so I’m guessing it won’t be that loud when it does get crowded. Service was friendly, but unobtrusive.

Delicious!

By Lilliana K |

Came here for happy hour while staying at the Study. Great happy hour deals, delicious snacks and glass of wine and warm hospitality in a beautiful space.

A calm, crisp and relaxed atmosphere serving healthy food at reasonable prices!

By stevensuganob |

This was a spontaneous meet-up at Co Op Restaurant. A friend messaged me to set up as she would like to meet for a get-together. We decided to have a brunch today. We had a great time in this spacious restaurant that has an earthly feel and wooden-design atmosphere. Located inside The Study, a new hotel so lavish and crisp at the University City. I love the place! So inviting and beautifully designed that provided a serene atmosphere that encourages calm and relaxation. They are serving healthy food at reasonable prices too!

Impromptu lunch/brunch with the family

By ATD4499 |

My family had brunch/lunch here in mid-April. The decor is very industrial and open; but the sound level was perfectly fine. The server was attentive, but was a bit unfocused. My husband (who is a chef) and I both had the smoked turkey Cobb salad. The turkey was inedible. The rest of the salad was delicious, however. My daughter in law loved the cinnamon roll and avocado toast. Overall, not a bad lunch, but not great. Perhaps the chef should re-consider how the turkey is smoked.

Breakfast failure

By HanniHannover |

Met with a colleague for breakfast - with only 6 tables taken. It took them 45 minutes to forget about our order. We left without a single bite as we had to attend our first meeting. Disappointing. They did not even apologize.

Amazing Happy Hour!

By Mat G |

Great happy hour and nice atmosphere! We had a great glass of wine and risotto balls and potato spinach bread!

Contemporary surroundings, interesting menu with fresh options

By CookinmaBrynMawr_PA |

Had lunch here twice and brunch once. Menu is creative and interesting, with plenty of healthy and fresh choices. Service is attentive. Food is presented well, although the mug of soup comes in a basic deep coffee mug - a wider soup mug or bowl would be preferable. But, overall, good food in a pretty, modern setting. A nice addition to the Drexel campus!

Low profile place with a surprisingly high profile menu.

By Susan S |

The menu included some interesting vegetarian options as well as fish, beef and chicken. we went for lunch and I had a curried chicken salad sandwich that was quite good on brioche bread. My husband had a burger. It was good too. Next time, I will get more creative with my order. An interesting sounding cauliflower dish is beckoning me as well as a brussel sprouts one.

Wonderful!

Great , clean food, beautifully presented in a lovely atmosphere with a long white marble bar & great service!

Delicious food and atmosphere

By B.G |

The atmosphere in this restaurant is really nice and is great for a nicer brunch or meal. The staff are also really friendly and accommodating. The food is also delicious and there are lots of options that all sound amazing. The only thing is that the food is a little bit pricier than other options around, but this place is a great place for a nice meal!

Uneventful

By GoldnAdvice |

We stopped by for lunch and were immediately seated. The restaurant has a modern open feel with big windows and minimal decor. Our waitress was friendly but not too knowledgable about the really small lunch menu. Gluten free items were limited as well and overall I had a hard time trying to figure out what to eat, I ended up with a frittata which was ok. Everybody's food was ok. Not sure what the dinner menu is however I doubt I will go there again.

Nice atmosphere- fair food.

By Chris B |

Dined there in early July and it is a lovely "open air" eating experience with tables both outdoors and indoors. But, especially with the pandemic issues, I am still not "all in" for indoor dining and so this layout was perfect. Server was kind and brunch menu was lovely. However, the food was a bit cold (omelet, eggs benedict, ) which was a little weird as there is no reason for it to have been sitting getting cold. I can only assume that the eggs were not served upon completion of cooking and sat around while something else was being prepared. I think restaurants in general are taking a while to get back up to speed as we enter the post pandemic world.......

Terrific "small plates" dinner

By DebMC123 |

We decided to try this new spot while visiting the Drexel / Univ of Pennsylvania campuses. We're glad we did, as we were treated to a wonderful assortment of creative dishes that really made our night. Try the heirloom tomato salad with champagne sorbet that melts into a fantastic dressing. We also loved the potato bread with spinach & cheese dip, the lunches risotto balls, and the extraordinary fries. We had the mac & cheese with short ribs and it was delish as well!

Creative/Great Food and Wonderful Value

By peter l |

Had both a lunch and dinner -- both we exceptional -- high end dining at very reasonable prices. If you're looking for thoughtful "nouvelle American" you can't do better (speaking as a California-foodie -- high praise).

Delicious food! Excellent Service!

By Helene B |

I enjoyed my visit to CO-OP. The meal started with crusty homemade bread. The chef was so accommodating to my vegetarian diet and swapped avocado for shrimp on my salad. Our server was very attentive and receptive to my questions regarding the menu. My family ordered meat and fish dishes that were also beautiful. Check out my pics! We indulged in the house made pecan ice cream for dessert. It was so tasty! Sweet and salty! I will be back to check out the bar for happy hour. I hear the drinks are incredible.

Finally a great dining experience in University City!

By Jack G |

We were lucky enough to be there on a warm evening and the garage doors were open for patio dining! The bar was packed for happy hour and stayed that way through dinner. Great beers, unique cocktails and uncommon wine list. The food was amazing- everthying from rotisserie selections, to incredible seafood and even an incredible cauliflower dukka. Service was very welcoming and attentive too. It was recently featured on CNN.com and phillymag, so go while you can!

Below average, try other restaurants in the area

By myey |

Food service is slow. I ordered food in the restaurant and for room service. The first was room service and I asked for 2 forks to share the meal which they did not bring until the food was cold. The salad we could not eat because they placed anchovies on it which I asked for no anchovies. Breakfast was about 13-15 dollars for a plate that was average and they forgot the toast. I ordered food at Sabrina's down the road which provides excellent food 1/2 the price and all my orders were correct. For a snack in the restaurant, I ordered risotto balls and they were cold inside. There are other restaurants in the area that are much better choices.

Tasty Comfort Foods; Good Veggie Options

By FamiCLE |

Sleek restaurant with very tasty vegetarian options for comfort foods. Enjoyed the potato bread, mapled brussel sprouts, cauliflower entree, carrots side, and the co-op salad which was outstanding. Would recommend it if looking for this type of cuisine.

Lunch February 4th 2020

By Cillian |

Dear Sir/Madam, I hope this email finds you well. My name is Cillian Lynch, I was a resident with your good selves from January 4th - January 10th, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the cuisine. So much so, that I have returned a few times to have lunch/brunch. However, after my mean today (I believe I ordered the rotisserie chicken and tomato soup), I became very ill (throbbing headache, emesis, aches), and have been since. I believe it must be food poisoning, and I wanted to alert you and your staff to this so as others be spared it from the same dish/stock. P.S. Your email seems to be rejecting my account email, so please have that seen to as well. Best, Cillian

Great Brunch!

By Len M |

Excellent vibe in this bar/restaurant! Brunch was exceptional and the Bloody Mary was nice and spicy - just the way it should be!

Well located in University city

By Roberto D |

The restaurant has good coffee and good breakfast, very convenient if you are staying at The Study hotel.

Ordinary

By pookala |

I wish I could write a more enthusiastic review. The restaurant space is nice, the staff very amenable but the food was just fair especially considering the price. We had 2 salads, 2 cocktails, 2 entrees and, coffee & 1 dessert; with tax and tip our meal came in at $70 per person, which is not inexpensive. The wedge salad portion is very large and could easily be shared. My caesar salad was certainly satisfactory but not memorable. The ricotta gnocchi were heavy and in a gloppy and acid heavy tomato sauce that overwhelmed the subtle taste of the corn in the dish. The fried chicken was good but the side of mac and cheese that accompanied it was tepid. Our shared dessert of apple pie with ice cream was disappointing. Pie was cold and there was very little caramel sauce used in the finishing.

Wow!

Rarely surprised given how much I travel and eat out - fantastic. / inventive / unexpected. Calm relaxed environment too

Best mashed potatoes ever!

By LCharlotte123 |

We came to eat at Co-op because we stayed at the hotel. Quiet restaurant with good service. My partner and I both opted for rotisserie 1/2 chicken with sauteed spinach & mashed potatoes. Very good! The mashed potatoes were the best I have ever eaten.

Lovely interior, good menu

By Lovetogetaway4169 |

This is an attractive place in a great location near Penn and Drexel to eat a meal or have a drink at the bar. We had drinks one night, and lunch the next day. The bartender was very knowledgeable - a little on the quiet side but she was very skilled. The restaurant interior is very pretty as is the adjoining lobby of The Study hotel, and the restrooms are clean and beautiful. The lunch menu had a good variety of reasonably priced dishes. We all liked our meals though they were all heavy on the salt. I'd go back though. Great service staff.

Can we just talk about food food and atmosphere???

By 3Flight |

Ok so let’s start w starters. The “smoked wings” amazing. Not overly smoked. Sweet spicy. Great…drinks; Tipsy Farmer…OMG the orange burst is uncontrollable, but refreshing and guess what? I don’t want to switch. And the their GF scallop dish yes so I licked the plate clean. I mean I don’t care who looks and judges because it’s that amazing, clean… clean. You NEED to stop in here for the amazing staff, ambiance, drinks, food. You are missing out if you don’t.

Great food and vibe.

By Nicki B |

Enjoyed a tasty lunch!! Only criticism was the flat beer. Service and atmosphere were friendly and welcoming.

Expensive breakfast

By frequentraveler13 |

I had a breakfast meeting at this hotel based restaurant and expected more for $13 dollars. Coffee was lukewarm, and eggs ok but expected more than one slice of toast for that kind of money. Relatively limited selection and service haphazard with manager berating staff in our earshot.

Good breakfast. Rude bar staff.

By Thunderbolt |

The title pretty much says it all. I've had breakfast here on a number of occasions. Relatively limited menu but food has been consistently good and pricing fair. However, my experiences at the bar have been disappointing. The drinks are fine, although on one occasion I was served a glass of wine with a dead fruit fly floating on top. OK. That can happen in the cleanest of places and in my case the glass was quickly replaced with an apology. The greater concern has been bar staff who were lackadaisical or in one case downright rude. My advice is to go elsewhere if it is after 5 P.M.

Great atmosphere and food!

By Asma A |

We go regularly there to study and have a bite. Atmosphere and food are great, and Stefani at the bar was really friendly.

Great Happy Hour!

By johnbarnhardt |

Stefani at the bar made study and happy hour absolutely fantastic! We’ve been to Co-Op a number of times and every time it is fantastic. The food is great, the drinks are cold and the atmosphere is hip!

Convenient and Tasty!

By avega03 |

I enjoyed 2 very delicious meals here during my stay at The Study. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and good service. The chicken and dumplings were wonderful - excellent comfort food. I also had a salmon dish that was excellent. Cocktails were great, and definitely try the homemade chocolate ice cream and the pecan pie!

A Nice Addition to the Local Dining Scene

By Michael M |

We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The service was attentive. The menu was extensive. My daughter had a salad bowl which was well done. I had the burger which was excellent. Worth a visit..

Delightful Summer Dinner

By cbboyce |

The food was delicious, cocktails creative, and the service was attentive. What we enjoys most though, was dining next to the large doors which opened to let in the summer night air. Nice new spot.

Very good.

By KarisG |

Food was very good. Service mixed. First visit incredible service. Second visit bad service. Linguine and clams spectacular. Cheeseboard very good. Chocolate dessert very good. Good wine list. Great music and ambiance.

Creative, yet straightforward menu that's very well done

By Bruce C |

It's a quicker type meal, but the menu options were really good, and creative, and the food was prepared nicely. I has several meals there out of convenience, but all were well done and very good. Service wasn't bad either. Atmosphere was decent for a hotel restaurant

Great lunch menu.

By JerryA |

Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad were excellent. My wife had the frittata which was also very good.

Tasty and relaxing brunch!

By nowickisw |

Stayed at The Study a decided to check out the hotel restaurant for brunch just because it seemed like the easy choice. It turned out to be a great choice. Our table of four started with some great Bloody Marys, and we followed up with some interesting takes on brunch classics. The pace was relaxing and gave us a chance to recollect the previous night's activities. Looks like another great restaurant in the area! Looking forward to checking out their dinners some time.

Good food; Decent Service

By Betsy W |

A bit slow on the service, but nice to sit outside and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Food delicious and atmosphere nice.

Excellent Happy Hour

By The4Gs2014 |

We were staying at another hotel in the area and had some extra time on our hands. We'd stayed at The Study in February and had a great experience so decided to pass the time at The Co-op's Happy Hour. This worked out perfectly. They have a nice list of wines by the glass, beer selections, and snacks. We enjoyed everything we had and the very reasonable prices, too. We ate a dinner and a breakfast at The Co-Op on our previous stay and really enjoyed them. We will be back!

Happy Hour Snacks for $5

By DrDianeLynn |

I met two of my students here to treat them for snacks after their exam. Great selection of $5 choices. Would recommend the deviled eggs, garlic/parmesan fries, and roasted peppers. Open air seating & very quiet at 530pm

Take your business seriously...update your business hours

By KingzKidinPA |

Do not trust the website. This establishment is not open during their posted hours. I was just there after a hot, three-block walk, and it is closed. Philadelphia lifted COVID restrictions yesterday and, regardless, they do not have modified hours posted on their doors, let alone their website. Disappointing...

Great New Restaurant - the Food is Fabulous!

By Stacey G |

There was so much great food, I am having a tough time deciding which were my favorites! For appetizers we had the oysters with champagne foam - never has anything like it and it was incredible. We also tried the cerviche - as incredible! For our mains we had the scallops - which were the best I ever had and the duck which was simply delicious. All the sides were great - loved the roasted vegetables. The place is beautiful and inviting. The service was great - wine suggestions were spot on. The menu has something for everyone with great vegetarian and vegan choices. We will be going back for sure!

It was OK I guess

By Anne C |

This restaurant is actually part of a hotel which we did not know from our research online. Went on a Saturday in July. We were the only customers in the entire place. They were out of things we wanted and just forgot an item we ordered. Our server Jordana was OK but not very attentive. Did not really check in so we couldn't even tell her she forgot something until we were finished. BTW Brunch was not really brunch just select breakfast items at lunch time. Anyway the food was OK but a bit overpriced. Most likely will not go back. The place was clean.

Cute interiors, blah food

By Absinthe H |

I have walked past this place many times, and today I went in with a friend who had been there before. He ordered a "Smoking Jacket" cocktail and breaded fried calamari, and I ordered a salmon burger and a beer. My burger came with sweet potato waffle fries that came with very pedestrian ketchup. I am so used to fun sauces that usually accompany sweet potato fries that getting ketchup with them was an unexpected disappointment. The disappointment streak continued with the salmon burger that was layered with a slice of grilled pineapple and a slaw so dry you could use it to exfoliate your feet. The burger was dry, and the only thing in the bun/burger/slaw combo that provided a little juice was the pineapple slice. As I was about to flag down our waiter, my friend said not to bother because the two sauces he got with his calamari were bland. Huh. What is it with this place and sauces? The dessert menu is lazy and uninspired, boring and bland. I am a world-class sweet tooth, but I could not find a single thing to order off that pathetic dessert menu. I like the idea of the coop-inspired interior that plays with the name, but unless you are, indeed, a coop and not a restaurant, the food has to be tightened up.

Dinner

By Meander595035 |

I dined at CO-OP while I was on a business trip in philly. The burger taste excellent but was not cooked as ordered and I had to wait for it to be re-done. Friendly waiter but needs to check in with customer more often.

Convenient restaurant attached to the Study hotel

By suzie b |

The service was excellent. The food was good but pricey. We shared the veggies and hummus. My daughter had the vegan cauliflower entree and was still hungry after. I had the past with lamb sauce. It was very filling, but tasted more like short rib than lamb. It was very convenient since it was accessible from the hotel lobby of The Study at University City. Also it was EXTREMELY loud!

Gluten Free Menu non-existant

By corgnatifamily |

I dined there on a Thursday night. Restaurant was not at all busy, maybe 4 tables full. Called ahead to ask about gluten free options as I am a very sensitive person diagnosed with Celiac Disease. My waiter was attentive and wrote on my order gluten allergy. When I ordered I asked about the item I ordered and made sure it would be gluten free. Sadly that was not taken into consideration. I came home and 2 1/2 hours late I was very sick suffering from food poisoning like symptoms. When I called and asked, they found my meal ticket which was clearly labeled Gluten Allergy, but when I asked them to check with the chef on my meal which was the Char, he admitted that the sauce was thickened with flour. That is clearly just negligence on their part. NO Chef should make that mistake. Imagine if I had an anaphylactic reaction? Chefs should be trained and aware of food allergies and they should not say they can accommodate special diets if they don't take the time to do so. The hostess was very apologetic and made good on refunding my meal, but I no longer have confidence in this restaurant and sadly would not recommend it due to their lack of attention to detail and concern for their patrons.

Tasty food near Drexel & U of Penn

By Raggedy |

This appears to be a trendy, up-scale restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating. In the same building as The Study hotel. The menu is somewhat limited but gourmet style salads, seafood, and sandwiches. Quality of food was excellent for the most part; our side salad greens had a very salty dressing. Service was average considering they were not very busy. Seemed a bit pricey for lunch. Not a place to bring young kids.

Great food and in a lovely space

By oldlymey |

We hiked here from Rittenhouse Square one Sunday morning. We had meant to go to another place that was packed, and lucky for us we were able to walk right into the CO-OP and get a table. The wait staff was very attentive and professional. We ordered huevos rancheros and some other items off the menu and were very pleased with the meals. The ingredients were fresh and well-presented. Delicious, plentiful coffee as well. The prices were on the high side but worth it for a good meal in a very pretty room.

Great New Restaurant in the Heart of University City

By Stacey G |

Finally a great restaurant in this part of Philadelphia! Very inviting and a relaxed ambience. The food is wonderful - the menu is full of gems. Cerviche, scallops, lamb - can't wait to go back. There is a very extensive wine by the glass list - perfect for trying different things!

Service not as expected.

By David R |

The service was sub par. First, no one greeted us at the reception desk. We were met with three employees looking down and were not acknowledged at all. I brought my family for brunch. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice, that was the end of the good news. My problems were as follows: the hostess and server were not what I'm used to when visiting a nice hotel restaurant. We were not greeted at all. Then they attempted to seat my party of 5 at a table designed for 4 people when the whole restaurant was practically empty. My husband had to ask for an appropriately sized table. Next, the server did not know how to serve coffee as she overfilled our mugs which made it difficult to add cream and sugar. She didn't offer any cream for our coffee (we had to ask) and there weren't any spoons to stir it. Then she forgot about our spoons and we had to ask again. She also never offered to freshen our coffees. She checked on us once before we even tried the food and then only to drop off our check. I'm glad we went only because they gave me the idea to make ricotta toast at home and the air conditioning was cold.

Fantastic

By Heather S |

What a great location! 33rd and Chestnut - what a nice addition to UC! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Nice long bar, open kitchen, open seating with big windows. Great service both at the bar and our table. Nice cocktail selection along with great wines and lots of beer. And the food...really all was excellent. Chicken liver mousse and olives to start, both excellent. Cauliflower dukkah enjoyed as a vegan option by two non-vegans who both raved. Rotisserie veggies were a great side. The sea bass got great reviews. I had the rotisserie sweet potato which was delicious. Reasonable prices and nice sized portions. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return.
