So good I had to come back a second time

By Centaur4 |

Looking around at the dishes as they came out I literally had food envy the last time I was here.... so here we are back for dinner with all of our friends and family. Another fantastic evening was had by all and we couldn't rate the staff, service, quality wine and food highly enough. Thank you CRU

I love going to Cru for Sunday brunch and their bottomless mimosas. Pair that with their pear and gorgonzola pizza and you have a very satisfied palette. Never have had bad service; they always greet you with a smile.

Excellent Wine Bar

By Michelle GM |

I ate here with a group of colleagues and we all loved the wine offer (3 glasses of different wine but 2ozs each). Allowed us to taste wine side by side, very interesting experience. We ordered some food and it was really good also, I would go there just for their home made pizzas.

Downtown Austin & the Domain Favorite

By JLS30196 |

My wife and I have dined at both locations at Cru. We received excellent service at both. We were offered great choices of entrees and wine. The décor of both also add to the experience. It felt special.

Fantastic!

By TravellingTex |

We were visiting Austin from Australia and were lucky enough to be notified by Mollydooker wines about a wine dinner at Cru. We signed up immediately. We had been to the Cru in downtown Austin a few times before and loved it, and our experience at this Cru could not have been better. As I mentioned in an email to Cru HQ, the staff could not have been more welcoming and attentive. There was never an empty water glass. The cutlery and stemware was spotless and shining. The five-course dinner was delicious. Acting manager Chris advised that he had only done a dinner the size of ours once before, but it wasn't evident. Everything worked like clockwork and made for a perfect evening. We'll done!

marvelous food and wine

By stubonedoc |

Weekday evening, great wine selection, superb wait staff--friendly and knowledgable. The food was delicious- had cheese fondue, tuna tartare, then flatbread. The wines were great and try a flight or two, then a glass or two. Great ambience.

Great food and fun people watching

By AAallways |

Cru is a great place to grab a glass of wine and some food. They have a nice patio to watch all the people walking around the Domain. Good food, great wine selection and very friendly staff.

Great Atmosphere

By mitch3edw |

Great atmosphere, food and service. I went Saturday night with my daughters and Mom, we had a great time! Food and wine quality was Excellent!

Good food

By Margaret S |

We had a nice dinner here. However a member of our group who had been there frequently was disappointed that the portions had become smaller and some of the items had changed not to the better in recent times. One would hope that these trends would not continue.

Nice atmosphere and excellent wine selection.

By plluce |

Our party of 10 had a great time and enjoyed the food and the wine. We shared appetizers and split some entres. Parking not easy but we were able to get close after looking for 10 minutes.

Every weekend for happy hour

By Zester1958 |

If this place was near where I lived I would be in there every weekend. Great cellar of wine selections. Friends brought us there Sunday before dinner. Sunday is 1/3 off all bottled wine. They also have flights of wine that look tempting. We ordered a bottle and some appys. The Charcuterie Board was nice for two with cheese and dried meats but the fois gras mousse was terrific. We also shared the Fritto Misto with fried shrimp, calamari and roasted shishitos - very good. We sat there for 2 hours and two bottles of wine. Service was attentive and engaging. Atmosphere is very comfortable with hard wood finishes and comfortable seating for dinner of in the lounge of bar.

Great wine

By Jkdcc |

Had such a fun time trying flights of wines. Great service. Fun night out! We tried the cabernet, Italian, and Pinot flight! Enjoyed all of them.

Wine and bubbly flights galore

By Lifeadventurer13 |

Perusing 2nd I stopped in at Cru. A quaint venue with Abair and dining room. I happened upon happy hour! I tried several small plates- my favorite was the margarita flatbread! But ultimately Cru offered a wonderful flight menu....it made it so hard to choose. I went with a flight of bubbly! It was the perfect selection for a warm evening in Austin- sparkling and refreshing. My bartender was knowledgeable about my selections. The pours were not stingy either. And I was provided with a descriptive of each of my flight samples. If you like wine, this a great option for you in Austin, offering wines from around the world and a nice selection from several regions of my favorite wine state- California!!!

Good food and wine

By Tiny_Bubbles007 |

Enjoyed an evening of wine and pizza sitting outside of Cru. Had the Gorgonzola and pear pizza… Great recommendation from my waitress. They also had a butternut squash pizza that looked quite good but did not try. Lovely wine selection and good pairing with food. Nice to have some outdoor seating in the domain mall area.

This is the definition of a wine bar!

By JSH1125 |

From the moment you walk in to Cru, you know that you are in good hands as a wine enthusiast! They have all types of wines, in all types of price ranges, including an excellent selection of wine flights to get you started (or to simply keep the good wine flowing). As a bonus, the food was excellent! My party of six had six different items off the limited, but wholly sufficient menu and everyone raved about the quality of their food. If you like wine, you will like Cru.

Great date night restaurant

By TulsaTraveler0807 |

My husband and I shared the Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay & Cabernet flights. The wines were very good. We split the goat cheese beignets. They were amazing. It was a great combination. We'll be back again soon.

Reasonably priced, properly sized portions

By Doc L |

The food at Cru is excellent. The menu is a bit of Asian fusion, a bit of European, and a bit of American. What I like most about this place is that the portions are properly sized - enough to feel comfortable, not enough to feel overly full. There's always room for dessert, and they have some excellent ones. To top it off, the price is very reasonable, considering the quality of the food.

Great Wine Bar

By AMB69_11 |

Nicely priced flights and a good selection of small plates. Excellent atmosphere and good vibe. Service was great as well.

Nice quiet dinner

By Jonathan E |

Very quiet (on the night we went) with a nice atmosphere. The service was great. The food was very good but did not "wow" me. The wine I sampled was very nice and the waiter seemed very knowledgeable about their selections.

Excellent dinner

By Josh W |

Had the chicken piccata...chef quality...nice atmosphere... Good servers...recommended...can sit outdoors too...plenty of wine to choose from

Good but somewhat uneven food. Good service

By Jay F |

Went for Valentines Day dinner. Four courses. Started with small lobster bisque that was appealing but seemed a but odd and short on lobster. For the second course we chose a very good beet carpaccio and good but rather small crawfish ravioli (three appx 1 1/2 inch square ravioli). For the third course we chose seared scallops which were excellent but the accompanying risotto was average at best, and a very good rack of lamb with relatively average potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The desserts were very good. Service was good and adequate. Overall cost was pretty high including wine. Overall above average but at the price could have been better.

A Romantic Spot

By Vic Q |

A great place to try wines and enjoy a great meal as well from an on staff Chef. We found our time there to be relaxing, romantic and enjoyable. Great service with excellent food. We had the opportunity to talk with the Chef and complimented him on the perfect preparation of my Salmon dish. I recommend you give this Wine Bar a visit.

NOT a restaurant...

By Hillco57 |

Went for brunch and were extremely disappointed . Wait staff was courteous, helpful and honest - owned up to serving shortfalls with good humor. Appetizers were heavy handed and unimaginative - avocado toast was a throw-down of two pieces of bread and avocado chunks in-artfully dropped on top. Lobster sliders were really mostly cold slaw with some lobster bits on a stone-cold Hawaiian roll - flavor couldn't get out of this trap if it tried. All of it was cold - not slider. Steak and eggs might have worked but for a raw steak and hard scrambled eggs in contrast to the menu description of "soft-scrambled". Salad must have been "brined" - salty to the point of inedible. Crab cakes Benedict are best avoided given that crab is hard to find amidst the breading, flavor was lacking, hollandaise had no life. Salmon with asparagus was very god. Molten chocolate cake was OK. Custard & jam - no sense in letting fruit get in the way of jelly - pass. Cinnamon donuts are actually the "holes". Bellinis and mimosas reasonably priced. Place should stick to serving wines and scrap the food portion - at least for brunch. Kitchen was glacial on timing.

Good Dining

By Barbara C |

The menu is small but outstanding. The wine list is extensive, and very good. Waitstaff is very pleasant and helpful. There is parking nearby, but if it is very crowded there is also valet parking.

Really love the athmosphere

By Rudy VG |

Everytime I come to Austin I make a visit to the Crú winebar. Very good winecard - although pretty pricy - and okay food. But I really live the relaxing athmosphere, both inside as outside on the terras at the very centre of the Domain.

Great wine bar!

By EKAUSTIN965 |

Great wine bar in the Domain area. Really nice bartender (pictured below) and bistro style food. I sat at the bar and had the lamb lollipops as an app and the roasted chicken as my entree, which were both really good. It felt like a really great neighborhood spot with a good bar scene if you are into wine. I will be back!

Discover a New Wine Tonight

By Keith D |

Wine bar with large selection of flights and wines by the glass. A little pricey, and wines tend to be entry point, but a pod chance to try several styles and broaden your horizon. Food is hit or miss, with positives on the cheese plates and charcuterie board.

nice place downtown

By Liz S |

Great wine selection and good food (I would sometimes like better described--I once ordered "chicken piccata, which should have been in lemon and butter, but got a chicken provencal, with garlic, tomatoes and basil). That is a chef error I think. It was tasty but not what I was expecting.

The Waitress

By Sarah W |

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary in April. I had never been to Cru before & I most certainly will not be going back. The waitress we had was a snob, rude and argumentative with us. I asked about the wine and she spoke to me as I had no right asking questions. A bug flew in my glass of wine, no big deal at all. Then she asked if something was wrong with the wine and why I didn't finish it, I said that a little bug flew in it, but also that I had enough to drink so it was actually okay with me. She acted really offended by that. I made a choice to not tip her since the experience had me on the verge of tears and my meal was not worth the sort of indigestion she caused. I've never not tipped at a restaurant because I see how hard the waiters & waitresses work for little pay. I made an acception for her because she was not trying at all. If you go to Cru, enjoy the food, however make sure you don't get the waitress with brown hair, short in stature & a bad attitude.

Great wine selection, attentive service and creative food

By coloradocowgirl2016 |

We wanted a quiet, intimate some bar and CRY fit the bill. The bartender was knowledgeable about the wines and very friendly and helpful. Excellent wine selection, so we stayed for dinner and found a creative, yummy and perfectly prepared dinner. I loved this place and it is close to everything.

Excellent services

By Vidar B |

I had the opportunity to sit at the bar charing wine ideas and experiences with the sommelier. He had a lot of knowledge and shared his knowledge. What could have been better is the range of wines and the food quality. Worth to visit.

Really relaxed lunch

By andrewpderry |

I had never eaten at Cru before, but my wife and I were having a get-away weekend, so we thought we would stop in for lunch. I would not normally drink at lunchtime, but a glass of wonderful champagne and a salad was a perfect way to take a break in the middle of xmas shopping. A very relaxing and refined way to spend lunchtime on a short weekend break!

Sunday Brunch

By Liz J |

I sat on the lovely patio with mimosas and had the steak and eggs. I’m not one to normally spend $15 on a meal, but it was prepared so well and was absolutely amazing it was worth it. Portion was medium, could have used more eggs. Other than that the steak was tender and juicy and the potatoes were well seasoned and delish!

Wine and food

By Waynedad |

An excellent selection of tasty chef creations. From angus steak pizza to fig brusheta. Wine selection turns over every couple of months, so there is always something new.

Excellent Wine Bar in North Austin

By Michael H |

I always enjoy the appetizers and wine here. The wine selection is excellent with a variety of flights to try out different varietals. I recommend the location in The Domain to anyone looking for a place to have wine and appetizers in North Austin.

Good Thanksgiving Meal

By TravelWell040 |

We decided to try Cru for Thanksgiving dinner, their 3 course meal for $35.00. It was our first time at Cru. The food was good, service attentive, noise level not so bad as most modern restaurants today, and prompt host acknowledgement. We'll try it again.

Great location and dishes, pretty good flights

By Tony H |

This outlet of a small chain of wine bars is located in the central square of the very popular and upscale domain shopping district. Its great for sitting outdoors, sipping on wine while the kids play nearby or to listen to some of the bands they have playing there sometimes. The food selections are great. I find the wine selections at this chain to be somewhat uninspired but I'm a wine snob and they work just fine for a casual wine evening out.

Great Wine Flights

By LonestarSpartan |

We stopped by during Happy Hour and sat at the bar. Jack, the bartender, was very attentive and gave us the scoop on their happy hour. During happy hour they have appetizer specials, $1 off on beers and $3 off on glasses of wine and their wine flights. We ordered the Margarita Pizza, some Calamari, and the Meatballs for a little food to go with our drinks. All the Appetizers were great, especially the Meatballs. My wife ordered the Champagne flight, which includes 3 different tastes of bubbly, including Mumm which sells for $25 a glass or $100 a bottle. I tried the flight of Zins. The flights, in my opinion, are cost effective even before the happy hour discount. We really enjoyed talking to Tara, the GM, about wines and how craft beers are impacting the future of the business with the younger crowd. They do have a limited beer list. We just happened to stop in while walking by, but now that we have visited, we will definitely visit again.

Service and Food terrible

By babstx |

Whole experience was afwul took my family for a Nice Dinner and service was terrible Waitress was rude and not good at all. She was more interested in pushing wine. 2 people in party did not want wine, so she did not ask them if they wanted anything else. Brought out rolls that were stone cold. Out of the 6 dinners we ordered only 3 were just okay. Food was blah and cold, must have been sitting around for awhile. Had to Stop at McDonalds on way back to Hotel . Take amy advice never eat at this place.

Wine Flights, Patio, Happy Hour Appetizers

By VoyageHopper42 |

We happened upon this place as we were looking for somewhere to sit outside and rest and have a drink. The Happy Hour sign lured us in - and what a treat! The happy hour special included a few dollars off wine flights or glasses and discounted appetizers. Each flight contained four types of wine and there were around ten flights to choose from - and each wine was excellent! We chose calamari and fried potstickers (three in the order). Both were excellent. I could have eaten several orders of the potstickers myself as they are fairly small. The indoor seating looked beautiful with bottles of wine and wine décor, but it was a gorgeous sunny day on the patio. Excellent service as well.

Nice place to celebrate

By leamills |

Excellent sommelier who helped us with dessert and wine pairings for a new job celebration. Recommended by our hotel and it did not disappoint.

Good food, better wine

By John |

They have really great wine at this place, lots of awesome selection. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about all sorts of wine so we were able to chat with him and listen to his recommendations.

Great Wine Selection!

By Foodwinegoofnut |

We have enjoyed Cru in the Domain on a number of occasions over the last four years. We recently visited on a "Lot 18" Tasting Coupon for Two. Much to my surprise and delight the coupon was eagerly honored, the advertised wines and appetizers were available; we weren't treated like "second class citizens" because we presented a pre-paid coupon! The service was great, we ordered extra food, additional glasses of wine and enjoyed the atmosphere. I can't say that the food is five star, but I can attest that the wine selection is outstanding, the food is acceptable, and the service is both friendly and attentive.

Cozy!

By PitterB71 |

Awesome place, nice atmosphere, food, service, wine list, everything. Try the table with cheese and prosciuto ham.

Perfect for business dinner

By Mac D |

Great place for a business dinner. Lots of variety and not overly noisy. The lemon thyme chicken was amazing. Service was excellent.

Moms night out

By Tiffany C |

Grear choices! Love the flights especially champagne ones. Only thing I suggest is keep track of your glasses. Our waitress tried to overcharge us for 2 extra glasses.

Good wine bar close to great shopping and good hotels

By David S |

Very good, but somewhat limited menu, flights of wine were very good and displayed a wide range of wine regions. If you want to watch the young and beautiful, Cru is the place to be.

Great Wine Flights

By The_Loup_Garou |

After striking out on two lunch spots, I wandered around downtown, and came across Cru Food & Wine Bar, and am so glad that I did. First, their Wine Flights were some of the more interesting B-T-G wines that I had encountered in a long time - hardly any of "the usual suspects," and grouped with serious thought and logic. A lunch, turned into an all afternoon event, and I invited my wife to join me, when she finished her meetings. She had as much fun, as I did, though over a shorter time span. The kitchen put together a Cheese Plate, and the wines flowed. While the Cheese Plate was very good, I cannot comment on the rest of the fare from the kitchen, as I never had a chance to try it. There is some interior seating, but their al fresco tables (weather permitting) are really the place to be. Service (though split between inside and outside) was excellent, and my server knew the wines well. Highly recommended.

Nice Wine Bar

By Keith D |

A nice wine bar that specializes in wine flights and wines by the glass. Always a good selection, although usually just a step up from supermarket quality. Think chain wine stores as opposed to specialty shops. Good food and happy hour pricing.

Good food weak wine

By d1621 |

We hit the Domain for a hard run at the presents list. There was enough walking in the cooler air that we decided a late lunch was a good call so we decided to try Cru. While the food was hearty and tasty, the wine list left much to be desired. It was any grocery store's medium priced wines and nothing unique which was a head scratcher. We found good lunch items and an OK pinot noir that made our stop filling and enjoyable.

Stopped for wine

Sunday evening In and out searing - we were out. Space has been maximized for use with tables and SMALL chairs. Irregular floor so be careful Wine tasting run of the mill Good service A maybe

Family Friendly with Great food!

By DoubleJW |

When our party of 13 was looking somewhere to eat on a recent visit to Austin, I was unsure how family friendly this place would be. I was delighted with staffs accommodations for the five young children we had with us, along with three strollers. The food was delicious and we had a wonderful time. I had the honey roasted pork tenderloin and the sparking wine flight. It was a fabulous experience.

Increadible wines

By Christian Moser |

They have a huge variety of great wines. The flights with three smaller glasses are a perfect way to try various wines for dinner. The food is good, I can recommend the Tapas. The Food menu is not very extensive. The cru is in a very nice environment with tables outside, which gives a wonderful atmosphere at night.

Hidden Gem of the Domain

By Suzanne G |

We had dinner at the Cru tonight and I just had to review it ASAP. We were in the mood for a filet mignon dinner - so many of the steakhouses in the Domain are super expensive. We selected the Cru because their filet mignon came with 2 sides (so many steakhouses charge extra $ for sides) and the prices were reasonable. It was a delicious meal!! The filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The wine prices are similar to other restaurants ($$$), but we found a good red wine that we really liked, didn't mind about the price too much. The staff at the Cru were fantastic - very pleasant, worked very hard and made our dining experience very nice. This really is a hidden gem of the Domain because you can get very good food at a reasonable price in a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere (unlike some other very loud and busy steakhouses). My husband and I each had the filet mignon dinner (with 2 sides), shared a Caesar salad (it was quite large) and had 2 molten chocolate cakes for dessert (really, really good!), along with a bottle of wine, tax and tip - $200. At the other steakhouses, that kind of meal could cost you $300 or more. Not all of their meals are that pricey though. We want to come back to try their pizzas (saw diners enjoying that - looked yummy), as well as try a wine flight - generous samples of 3 wines. Such a wonderful and relaxing place to eat. Highly recommend for adult dining (there is no kids menu). Park in the pink parking garage - it is close to the restaurant.

Perfect Dessert and Prosecco after ACL concert

By tina m |

great location, outdoor seating, food, drinks and wait staff! We stopped by after Boz Skaggs and enjoyed the outdoor seating, professional wait staff and shared chocolate fondue! The drink selection was great too!

Answer his questions

By Mike E |

I ate at Cru on a Saturday afternoon recently and thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. The setting is conducive to sitting and enjoying a good glass of wine. The staff was knowledgeable with good recommendations for our considerations. The food, although good, is never my main reason for going. Pros: Several good wines by the glass. Cons: I'd like to see more European selections. Tip: If you want to sit on the patio you really need to arrive early. Bigger Tip: Ask for Ryan. Very personable, great recommendations if you answer his questions.

Can't wait to go back!

By KLDSanDiego |

The salmon and scallops were fabulous! They have great wine prices and I love their flight offerings, great deal at happy hour! Service was great too! Can't wait to go back!!!!

Great place for wine with decent food...

By Jason H |

Come for the wine and stay for the wine. They have a great selection of wines and something for everyone. The staff is extremely friendly and the bartender knowledgeable about wine if you need some assistance with a selection. The food is solid with the pizzas being my favorite items on the menu. if you find yourself in the Domain looking for wine then you should look no further than Cru.

Little Gem

By Elizabeth L |

Good menu and good wine.... it's a simple combination that they're providing very well. Lovely spot in the Domain which can offer both a relaxed and intimate athmosphere. Menu has good array of options and isn't over priced. I had the filet mignon which was cooked to a perfect medium rare accompanied by a light and fruity Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley in Oregon which is pricey (but wine seems to be in the US). Would recommend a visit if in the area.

Pricey Flights

By Wendy S |

Went with 2 friends for a drunk. I had the rose flight and they had the bubbly flight. Both were enjoyed. Good service, but a little pricey.

Undiscovered Gem

By CowpokerMike |

Cru is officially a wine bar, serving flights of wine with several choices of groupings. They also have a really nice tapas and appetizer menu with some entrees. The food is excellent ! It is a cozy venue with great service and a nice patio beside a courtyard with other shops and frequent live music. This is located in the Domain, an upscale shopping center in north Austin, off of MoPac Expressway. Highly recommended for small groups and couples. Romantic.

Fantastic every time!

By Annette K |

I have been here twice, the food is consistently fantastic. If you are not satisfied tell the waitress....she will make it right. I love their steak signature pizza....but I have tried almost every appetizer, fantastic. Their wine is of course the best....I have a bottle every time I go there.

Wine Flights!

By SonnyaD |

They are well knows for their wine flights, 3 wines, 2 oz pour each. Each flight has a high end taste, which was great fun! The appetizers were good, but a bit small for our 4 top or maybe we were just hungry. The service was good at first, but once it got busy, we were forgotten for a bit.

Great little place

By UshouldvisitGolden |

So glad we stumbled on Cru. Prior TripAdvisor reviewers were right-on about the Lamb Lollipops. Awesome start to great dinner. Food was served really hot. So delicious. Reasonably priced. Great wines.

Great Place

By MeryandLeo |

Greta place for tasting wines. I did the "flight #5 Riesling" and I got 2 oz of each: a californian, a Rhine and a Mosel. Accompany with a Mushroom & Goat Omelet. Excellent service in a very confortable and quiet environment.

Fantastic restaurant in Downtown Austin

By Will0928 |

Staying in Downtown Austin while we visit our daughter for Thanksgiving. We all stopped at Cru for a bite to eat and sat ourtside. Not a full dinner but pizza and salads. Pizza with steak was just melt in your mouth. My wife had a beet salad with figs and goat cheese which was to die for. Great wine and beer to compliment dinner. Great service and a great location in Downtown Austin

Great in many ways.

By macymooChicago |

A few nights ago we had dinner at Cru’. Ate outdoors it was a perfect evening. I had the bruschetta and a margarita pizza. Both fine. Also had an Italian wine which was good. They have a happy hour with special light food items and $3 off wines. Also cool flights of wine to try. I’d go back for that too.

Came for Thanksgiving; Left disappointed

By Teri H |

A nice waitress couldn't change the food experience. If you've never been here before it's a small restaurant in a wine bar. Tables are small, close together. Din resonates which makes table conversation challenging. We came for the Thanksgiving menu, thinking we'd try a new place that was centrally located for our family members. Appetizers - assorted - all arrived luke warm. And while they had good flavor, in particular the soup and the four raviolis, they both would have benefited by arriving at the proper temperature. Brussel Sprouts accompanies the shrimp. They were hard and tough to eat. For the main course, most had the turkey. It was cooler than the appetizers. Mine was so salty I couldn't eat most of it. Another at the table had slightly salty turkey, while a third plate, the turkey was fine. I guess it depends on where your cut came from and how far the brine penetrated the bird! Green beans, I get al dente but you could have poked someone's eye out with these. Most entertained wine flights. It was fun, but the wine I would say was nothing to write home about. Marks improved for most desserts. The lava cake was spot on incredible. No doubt. The bread pudding was quite good and thankfully not sweet. It also arrived nice and hot. Too bad the turkey did not. The pumpkin pie, did the cloves fall off the shelf into the filling? Really heavy handed there. And what I assume was perhaps ginger whipped cream (?) on top, not real sure as it resembled something rather unsettling in appearance rather than a lightly whipped cream. All in all, while it was great to meet family and have a few laughs, I am afraid the food, for the most part, missed the mark.

Delight place

By RobertWorldWanderer |

Went here for a first date, to meet and chat after work. It is a lovely place with great decor. We sat in the lounge area and I had the Killer Cabernet flight and my date had the Pinot Noir Perfection. The 3 selections we had we really very, very good. Cab was dry without the ultra astringency of many cabs. all 3 were well balanced, flavorful and quite delightful. We did not dine here so I can't currently comment on the food selections. But do stay tuned, I will be back here again. I also highly recommend starting a first date with a visit to a wine bar. It was a very wonderful wine, a wonderful date, and an all around wonderful start to an evening of hopefully new beginnings.

Perfect Romantic Setting to share wine

By Austin_TXJamesM |

Even if your not an experienced wine sprinkler this is a perfect place to learn more about it and try many different types of wine. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful when choosing wine you would like. The food is also very good. Wes and Jorge are great barkeeps and my wife and I enjoy sitting at the bar for drinks and dinner. Located in the heart of the Domain so shipping and just walking around before or after dinner is really nice. I very romantic place to take someone special.

Mother’s Day brunch

By papawdowns |

First and last time- portions small and pricey. Had three small dish’s for $38. Started with asparagus then a brie omelet and finished with a white chocolate mousse. All were well served by Pete.

A pleasant suprise

By jgf3 |

Cru was a pleasant surprise in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the Domain. It is a quaint little quiet restaurant great food. We had the calamari and two pizzas with wine. Everything was well done. The service was impeccable and very friendly.

A good relationship gone bad

By Tiffany D |

It breaks my heart to write this review, as I have been a die hard Cru customer for almost 5 years. Cru is THAT PLACE I go to alone when i'm stressed, depressed, need to compress. It has been my zen place, I would even go as far as saying I have always had an emotional attachment to Cru. But the last 2 times have been BEYOND disappointing and one of those times I couldn't even get in the door. Daughters Graduation Dinner (May 29th). I made this reservation WEEKS in advance, my first time sharing my Cru addiction with my whole family (6 people). I informed Cru that we would be there around 9:30 pm after my daughters graduation, at no point was I explained that the kitchen is subject to close earlier than their closing hours (11pm). At 9:30 i called Cru and informed that the graduation was running over and we would be there but closer to 10. At that time i was told the kitchen closes at 10, even though the hours are till 11. I had to pre-order what i could so when we arrived (at 10:06) we would at least have something to eat. The waiter was a doll (as always, love the staff) but the food you could tell was precooked, room temp and wasn't my normal Cru food experience. I was disappointed especially being it was a special occasion and an exhausting day. But i wanted to be understanding so i smiled and didn't make a fuss. Yesterday (June 4th) i decided i needed another Cru day, i needed my usual amazing experience. You ever have your taste buds already prepared for something? You can taste it. So I head to Cru arriving at 9:15ish thinking "They close at 11pm and the kitchen closes at 10, I should be good." I get to the door and a waitress is on her way out and closes the door behind her, but looking back inside hesitant to let me in. I asked her if there was a problem? She says "The kitchen closed at 9." I am pissed, what the hell is with the inconsistent hours of operation when you CLOSE at 11pm? How are WE the customers supposed to know when the times change based on WHAT? I drove from Hutto just to be turned away at the door. I am a very easy going person and let a lot of things ride, but i have to admit I became irritate. And most of it is my emotional attachment to Cru and then feeling like what I once had is gone. I won't be back, I feel like a good relationship gone bad :-(

Good wine tasting with small but nice food pairings.

By Jay F |

Went to Cru for a Roederer Champagne tasting featuring Roederer Anderson Valley NV from California, Roederer Champagne Brut Premier NV, and Roederer Cristal with paired bites. The wines were as one would expect with each pour a step up in quality with Cristal stealing the show. The bites were rather small but nicely chosen. All together a good event at a reasonable price. It is worth watching for their events.

Great vino and service

There was a group of about 8 of us there late last night. We sat at an outside table. We shared a couple of good bottles of wine. We also had a couple in our party that had beer. No food this time. Our server was very attentive and engaging. He helped it be lots of fun.

Decent Place for Wine

By Dave M |

My fiancée spent a lot of time here, so she wanted to introduce me to it. We sat outside on the patio and each had a wine flight. This was a good place for people watching and relaxing. I found the appetizers limited, but the wine was decent.

Best pizza of my life!

By swinglo_1 |

Had the fig & prosciutto pizza, it was to die for! Honestly the best pizza I've had! And wine flights! He beet salad that I had was also amazing!! What a great find, sat on the patio and enjoyed myself immensely!

Flights & A Board

By Pope100 |

The waiters were very attentive and willing to answer any question that we had. We didn't have to wait long at all for a table, they even have a patio if you would like to sit out there but to me it seems less intimate. We each got a flight and shared a board that had different meats and cheeses. We will definitely be back at Cru'

Great wine bar

Absolutely fantastic!!! Red wine lovers haven. Great atmosphere, excellent service, fantastic foods and of course Wine!!!! Had the red flight .... recommend Roth Estate ‘17 Cabernet Had the pizza just great During COVID a lot of great winery’s closed do this was a welcomed reprieve on our visit home

Atmosphere lacking, good wines

By TravelToday |

This was a fun wine bar, with some good selections. We had hoped there would be a few more options with the wine flights. The prices are good and the service friendly. The only other feedback would be the seating area, it felt like you were sitting in a mall food court.

Enjoyable early dinner

By By_His_Grace |

My wife and I had an enjoyable dinner. We took advantage of three different flights of wine (a flight has three glasses of different wines of a similar variety. We tried a nice variety of wine and food. We enjoyed the mussels, the lamb lollipops and the cheese plate. Our server was very friendly and helpful.

Nice place, despite its location

By TonyC_Austin |

I am not a fan of the Domain, but this is a nice little wine bar. Nice enough that I'll put up with the severely deficient Domain traffic patterns every once in a while. We usually get some wine flights, cheese and misc. The atmosphere is pleasant. The staff is very helpful.

Excellent Wine Selection!

By JVTorres |

I went with my friends for a happy hour and this place have an excellent service and great wine selection. For happy hour their wine glasses are $3 off the regular price and they have an appetizer menu with great prices. Also their flights and boards are delicious with your favorite wine. It is a little bit pricy but totally worth it.

Love this place!

By eahoule17 |

I'm a huge fan of this wine bar and always make a point to stop here whenever I'm at The Domain. There's a great selection of wine and the staff is extremely knowledgable. I highly recommend trying this wine bar out!

Fun Wine Flights

By Wrightway4010 |

We were there for a light dinner on a warm Feb. night. The atmosphere at an outside table was perfect- we loved it. The wine choices -especially the flights - were great. We give high accolades for the wine choices. We had a 10" pizza ... not a good choice. Maybe some other food options are good, but our pizza could have been a warmed up grocery store frozen pie - not good. But we'd go back for the atmosphere, the wine and a try for something else to eat.

Great place for a lunch or alone at the bar

By Shar W |

I've always had a great time at Cru. The food is delicious and of course the wine is too. Staff is very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I meet my gf's there for lunch on weekends and sometimes we go back at the end of the day for another glass of wine at the bar. Definitely have a cheese board and wine flight...can't go wrong there.

Nice ambience in a very unique wine bar, fantastic food and great company!

By Gianluca Bazzica |

I came last night with my friends Dustin Woodward and Matt Misiak, we had an excellent dinner! The place is very nice, a good selection of wines....I wish one day they will have my favorite Italian Montevibiano! Food was really amazing! I had Ahi Tartare and Scalopps with spinach rice....outstanding! I must say all was good and the ambience and service make it even more special. I will be back again next time in town!

Excellent food and great service

By ChiliGirl |

The menu is interesting and the preparation was excellent. Knowledgeable service especially with the wine recommendation. Great choice!

Perfect shopping pit stop

By davidchurlbutt |

This was a perfect break in a day of shopping. Though three of the four of us did a bubbles flight the wine flight options are vast, varied and totally delivered. Given it was a midday stop we only needed the charcuterie plate which was perfect for the four of us, but the overall menu had great options. Having seating inside and out we opted for outside to enjoy the wonderful spring weather day surrounded by nice landscaping and mature shade trees.

Great food and atmosphere.

By Mike S |

If people check out my reviews, you will notice that I tend to give a lot of five star reviews. That’s because it takes a special experience to inspire me to write. Well, crew was a special experience. Everything that we had for dinner was absolutely delicious. The selection of wine is superb. The prices are very reasonable, especially if you come during happy hour. The Decour is funky and cool. Our waiter, Ray, was friendly and knowledgeable. I can’t recommend this place enough. We will be back.

Great fine in a hectic city

By Linda |

We found this place via the internet and we were glad we did. They sell a variety of wines by the glass or via a flight. It has a nice athmosphere and we will definitely return.

Wonderful place

By davefoshee |

There is an ambiance in Cru that, once you walk inside, removes you from the crowds and noise and chaos outside. The staff is attentive, the wine list is admirable, and the food satisfying. It's a very nice experience.

Wine Bar with Ambiance

By sesshi101 |

OMG...this was like a replicate of one of my favorite places at the Legacy in Dallas. Very much the same decor and services from the other location and felt right at home for the selection of food and wine services. Nice location next to Starbucks in the upscale Domain Shopping Area.

Divine Mussels

By Griselda C |

We had the mussels and they were for the gods! We could not get enough. Our appetisers were just as pleasant. I was positively surprised that they had their sparkling wines/proseccos (bottles) on special. I've never heard of that in a restaurant but we happily took the offer. What a deal!!!!

Five Star Service and Blissful Bites

By Matt Blum |

First, let me start by saying that our server, Paul was outstanding. From suggestions to substitutions, he laid out a wonderful pairing from start to finish. We came in for some light bites and conversation, so sitting in the lounge area was a pleasant change from the norm. We each started with a flight (HIGHLY recommend) to find a nice wine to continue the evening with. A wonderful cheese board was selected with the help of Paul to compliment our flights nicely. Overall, an outstanding experience. Will definitely be coming back for a repeat 😊

Perfect Setting for a fall afternoon

By WorldAtlasJGalt |

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a perfect afternoon sampling wine, devouring delicious appetizers, watching kids play in their Halloween costumes and listening to relaxing live music. Our server was both friendly and helpful in choosing just the right wine. I would highly recommend this place.

Great place in the Domain for food and wine

By capsmom |

We really enjoyed our lunch here at Cru. The food was delicious, and the wine was fabulous. While we were waiting for our table, we were sitting at an outdoor table (the weather was great) and they brought us water and made us feel welcome. We will definitely be back...maybe for brunch.

Still a great spot at the Domain

By d1621 |

We made one of our regular treks to the Domain for some shopping and decided to head for Cru as we have in the past. For us Cru is a great option as it is not a place that gets overcrowded due to its layout. And it has a very friendly staff. So we went for the small plates approach and ordered a Golden Beet Salad, Ahi Tuna Tartare, Pan Seared Crab Cake and Lamb Lollipops. We paired with this a G Paul Cherrier Sancerre. What a great way to relax after walking the stores and carrying packages! The light wine and the salad was very refreshing and our self designed surf and turf just hit the spot. We were re-energized to wrap up our shopping trip.

Love this place!

By sgeddie |

Great place to have a glass or bottle of wine. We tend to sit inside in the summer and outside the rest of the year...if you live in Texas you understand. Wonderful wine list and a great team of servers to help you choose what is the best wine for you. Lots of specials during the week...1/2 price bottles of Champagne on Thursdays, 1/3 of bottles of wine on Sundays, and more but those are the ones we tend to enjoy the most. The mussels are amazing as well as the lamb lollipops. And if you like cheese this is the place to come and enjoy a cheese plate or charcuterie board. We live very close by so mostly come for appetizers or a cheese platter, with wine of course.

Worst value ever!

By Wally |

Food ok, not great. Wine list good but over priced. Avoid unless money is no object, many choices of better dining for less money.

Good food

By Deb |

Good food, small venue. Has outdoor patio seating and private back room. We sampled several of the appetizers and enjoyed them all. Recommend the Charcuterie Board and the Roasted Golden beets.

Very enjoyable dinner with friends

By wacotom |

We had a very enjoyable meal with some wine, appetizers and a few pizzas. My wife is still talking about the great pear and gorgonzola pizza, we also had the truffle pizza and the butcher pizza. All were very good. The frito misto appetizer was very good as well. Most of the wines on the wine flights were good and the white wine my wife had was very enjoyable. Not the cheapest place to eat but CRU was quiet so we could have a good conversation inside the restaurant. Our first time adventure but I am sure we will be returning.

Uniquely awesome grilled cheese sandwich

By janels |

Conveniently located in the Domain, we have somehow avoided eating at this place in the past. It is between Starbuck's and Blackfinn, right off the main drag and just on the small promenade that at night often features music. Maybe the limited menu was off-putting in the relatively few and quirky offerings. None of their main lunch pizzas was what we wanted, although they did sound good--we really wanted something else. We were about to leave when I spotted a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup light fare offering. I asked about it, and it sounded delicious. We stayed and ate outside, which was extremely pleasant in this cooler weather. When I was asking about the grilled cheese sandwich, the server tried to be extremely helpful, but I must have just had difficulty understanding her outside. I asked about the cheese, which was an Italian cheese of which I hadn't heard. I am always on a quest for the perfect grilled cheese, and so far hadn't found it in Austin. She described the cheese as being like Brie, which I love, and it was on sourdough bread, so I really wanted to try it. Although I do love tomato basil soup, it doesn't love me (acidity), so I asked if I could substitute. They allowed asparagus, so I went for it. My husband ordered from the brunch menu, and was very impressed by the scrambled eggs with lobster, shrimp, and potatoes. Mine arrived on a board, with the already soft cheese melted all over the sandwich and the board. As can be the case with sourdough bread, the pieces were thick but small in circumference, so basically the cheese made it too messy to eat like a sandwich. I didn't really mind, though, as eating it with a knife and fork worked fine. It was absolutely delicious! My husband's eggs featured large pieces of lobster, and was excellent, as well. My only peeve, other than the relatively messiness of the sandwich, was the iced tea glass. It was basically a "V" shaped narrow mimosa glass. In addition to holding almost no tea with the inclusion of ice, the straw didn't even reach to the top of the glass, so it always had to be drunk with two hands...one to hold the straw up and one to hold the glass. Nevertheless, the sandwich and eggs were tasty enough so that we will definitely return to this tiny little place for another excellent lunch.

Great choice when in downtown Austin!

By heloviper |

My wife and I stumbled upon Cru right about when we needed to eat, and it was a great experience. The food was good, and our waiter John took great care of us. He recommended a prosecco called Bosco del Merlo, and I now recommend it, and Cru.

Rocks !!!

By Kaylee M |

Amazing location on patio in big courtyard. Cru did everything right. A live band played for hours in the courtyard. Heavenly.

Mixed feelings..

By julesheartsUK |

The wine and food were great, as was our server. We had a reservation for a (tame) bachelorette dinner. Upon walking in, we were greeted with a snooty "May I help you?" from the host. Mind you, we were all dressed in fancy gowns, trying to have fun. The private room was amazing, and our server took excellent care of us. Overall I would say it was an OK experience, just felt the attitude of the host was a bit unnecessary.

It used to be good. Disappointing and a time waste.

By Lee R |

In our three previous visits to Cru we left with a total different impression than last night. Stood 15 minutes to be seated, even when they had plenty of tables available, and we were the only guest in line. The service was severely understaffed, and offered minimal attention to our table. Took them over 30 minutes to bring our Spanish red wine bottle. Our red wine bottle was chilled cold as if it was white wine, don’t know why, but after the long wait you don’t ask, you just want to sip your wine. Forget about returning it, and risk waiting another half hour. The charcuterie board appetizer was good. Up to that point it was an acceptable experience. After ordering the main course, it took them over an hour to present our plates. The food was not well prepared. First, the risotto lacked flavor, (it was a milky ball of rice and wilted vegetables). No parmesan flavor whatsoever. Even though being identically the same thing, the two plates were as inconsistent as if they were prepared by two different cooks. In one of the plates, the scallops were not seared, and were swimming in the risotto milky sauce. The other plate had seared scallops but dry risotto. After waiting one hour for the food we were starving and eat it without complaining. Adding up the bill took them another 20 minutes. Disappointing and a waste of time.

Favorite Restaurant in Austin

By FrqtTrvlr14 |

There's no shortage of great places to eat in Austin, but this was our favorite. Known for their wine, one interesting thing they do is to serve flights of wine samplers with three 2 oz wines. Some flights are themed such as Spanish, Italian Reds, etc. I had the 'Staff Picks' flight that had a white, a rose, and a red Lambrusco, all of which were excellent (For those not wanting to do the wine flights, they had an extensive wine list). My Chicken Piccata was excellent. Other guests had pizza, mussels, and braised beef short ribs, and everyone loved their meal. We split a dessert chocolate fondue that rocked! For the quality of food & wine, it was very reasonable.

Wow, have the lamb lollipops

By Dinglewongles |

Visited here for a friend's birthday and I loved the way the staff were happy for us to just order appetisers, then more appetisers then more. The food was excellent, especially the lamb lollipops and the staff very friendly, made us feel very welcome.

pleasant atmosphere

By ShmiShmoo |

located in the austin domain, north mopac, and hence easily reached, this little wine bar sits right in the center of the shopping area. the interior is welcoming and offers comfortable seating in a nice atmosphere, w/ seating also available outside. they serve a fairly decent selection of wines, most notably their flights, 3 themed tastings of assorted wines, which varies every so often. very great for relaxing!

Fun place to visit friends

By Susan M |

We met our friends for wine and pizza before a concert at the Moody. What a nice place! Our waitress Katie was very good at recommendations and she was spot on! We ordered the flights of wine….three 2 oz glasses of all white or red. Each class had about 4 different choices and we chose the Flight #2 Chardonnay. Along with the flight #2, I chose a Margherita Pizza that was large enough to split with my husband. The pizza and the wine was great. Since we split the pizza, I had to try a dessert. I had the Creme Brûlée and I did share. : ) Again…very good!!! This place was very, very nice and since it was convenient to the venue we did not have to rush. It looks like it would be really expensive but it is very reasonable. We will definitely eat here again.

Drinks and dessert

By thatredhead |

We stopped at Cru for dessert and a glass of wine. What I really like about Cru was the wine flights. They have a nice wine list but a really neat option to do a flight. I thought the flights were good value. You get to sample three wines at a price less than most glasses. They were nice size samples too! We also got a creme brulee for dessert and it was excellent.
