Very Good Italian Restaurant

By Traveler7771713 |

We were two couples and all were pleased with service and meals. Very nice atmosphere and the food is expertly prepared. Reservations are highly recommended.

Wow!

By steventobolsky |

Really nice ambiance, excellent wait staff, varied but sensible menu. This is a perfect solution for a special occasion or a regular neighborhood destination.

Don't miss this treat.

An amazing dinner! It was as if we were back in Florence or Tuscany. We shared the carpaccio, it melted in our mouths. The Caesar salad was cold and crisp, could have used a bit more lemon, a bit more anchovy. The bread was yummy, yet slightly chilled? The minestrone was hot and delicious. Hubby had the Bigoli Ca Del Sole and he loved every bite. The pasta was spectacular. We fi ished the night with salted Carmel gelato that was spectacular. Our waiter was attentive without being bothersome. The restaurant is lovely, slightly loud, but overall our meal was truly special.

Excellent, authentic Italian

By Mike and Maria B |

Having lived in Italy, we tend to be fairly critical of Italian restaurants, and this was our first visit to Ca Del Sole – in a family group of 6 adults and 3 children. On a busy Christmas Eve, the ambience was warm, comfortable and welcoming. We each chose a different dish, and were totally delighted by the various wonderful flavours. The extensive wine list caters to a wide range of tastes and pockets, and we really enjoyed a 2012 Montepulciano red ($70). The staff were all very friendly and helpful, looking after special requests from the young ones, without any fuss. We'll be returning!

Nice Space & reasonable prices

By Daniel F |

It's a very pleasant place to dine either inside or outside (heaters supplied). The salads are excellent. The rest of the menu is very good - the problem is that the food comes out warm instead of hot. The servers are inattentive. The prices are reasonable.

Best Italian in the Glendale, Burbank and west area!

By John A W |

Our business party of six had dinner last Monday and as before, it was superb. We have been visiting this restaurant for years whenever we come to LA on business with suppliers. In some cases, it's just me, and in other cases like earlier this week, it was a larger party. I have been to other top-rated Italian restaurants in the Glendale, Burbank, and Toluca Lake areas of north east LA and this is simply the best. The service is outstanding and attentive, the food is consistently the best there is - reminding me of being in Italy proper. They have a lovely outdoor courtyard with space heaters as needed and unless it's raining, definitely recommend dining in this patio. Well decorated and insulated by trees and plants and shrubs. Inside seating is also very nice and they have a large - separate bar with sports screen. The pasta is fresh and home made, the gnocchi (also home made) is melt in your mouth, and the menu is varied and so hard to pick from so many wonderful dishes. I had the gnocchi with duck ragout as my first dish followed by the Ossobucco with saffron risotto. Just heavenly. This place is well worth the detour and a must try. We always come back time and again. This would also be a super place for an intimate/romantic dinner as well as casual get together.

Quality food for the price. Nice atmosphere and outdoor. Would return.

By Zenith S |

Came here for a business dinner. Had a great time. The calamari, pork rigatoni and carpaccio were great. Very clean and tidy tables. Nice decors. Lighting are great and not too bright. We picked the outdoor area and the weather was just brilliant. The staff could be a bit more attentive but there's nothing to complain. The cocktail was well made. Would come again.

Excellent al fresco dining near Universal Studios.

By ideblasi0 |

I happen to live minutes away from the best restaurant in Los Angeles. This is my favorite go-to dining experience for special occasions. The patio is delightful. I usually order a couple of appetizers for the table while we have cocktails and look at the menu. The food is authentic and upscale (not a red sauce dive). Everything is cooked and served to perfection. The Crostini, Bruschetta and Fritto Misto are delicious starters. The Mezzelune are good pumpkin pasta. Nothing beats the whole Branzino (Mediterranean sea bass) for a great entree. Desserts are unique.

Great menu

By Triggsymate83 |

Choosing which pasta to order was the most difficult part of the night - a great mouth-watering selection to choose from. Food was good, the decor was excellent and great for a date night. The one gripe of the night was that the pasta arrived whilst we were still eating the appetisers which was a silly mistake to make. That aside, I'd definitely come back when in town.

Lovely restaurant with great food

By Eleanor O |

I have been to this restaurant for both dinner and happy hour, and had excellent experiences for both. The restaurant itself is very attractive, with a variety of seating areas which are all very comfortable. I had a delicious salmon dish for dinner accompanied by an excellent pinot noir. We were seated in the lovely outdoor area. Most recently, I went for their amazing happy hour which happens every day from 5 to close. Very good sangria and a really nice crab cake appetizer - both for $5 each. It was an excellent value. The lounge area is very comfortable and welcoming. I plan on going back often.

Squid Ink pasta

By HKhereIcome |

LINGUINE NERE CON SALAME CALABRESE E GAMBERI went in June 2015, and price was $18.25. I enjoyed it very much however if you are not a fan of spicy, maybe ask them to go easy on the salami? It was delicious! A bit on the pricey side for lunch but worth trying.

Nice dining experience but barely a 4 Star rating

By Mark J |

My wife and I went to Ca Del Sole to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary and weren't disappointed but also weren't "blown away" with the food. We've dined here several times over the years and the result is pretty much the same each time: Above average pasta dishes with decent appetizers. You're given LOTS of food to eat but nothing is really memorable. Service is good as is the setting. The main room is pretty loud though. The menu is solid but not particularly exciting. The wine list is EPENSIVE. Their corkage fee is $20.00, a little high I feel but the only way you'll drink good wine at a fair price.

A really great meal!

By walthess |

The meal here was wonderful. I had a pasta with fresh shell fish....excellent. My wife enjoyed the sea bass which was equally great. We ate outside in a cabana that provided great ambience on a warm Southern California night. Try in when you are anywhere near Universal Studios Hollywood....it is a keeper!

Interesting bar and outdoor dining but...

By Tio Boni |

I am usually at Ca' Del Sole for business meetings and so prefer the dining room, which is quiet enough to actually have a conversation. Service is always prompt and friendly. Food is very good and I particularly like the way the restaurant prepares its salmon. There is also a complete wine list with something for almost everyone. Valet parking is preferred but there is some on-street parking available.

Wonderful Meal!

By Floridafunsun |

We had a business dinner with a large group. The restaurant is lovely and charming. We had a back room with an adjacent outdoor patio. We had beverage service outside for a pre-curser to the meal and it was really nice. Had the calamari, filet mignon, and warm chocolate cake....ALL were outstanding!! Service was spot on and I would highly recommend this for any special occasion!!

Not Italy

By Jorn Horaczek |

Our friends took us here as they like the place and come here a lot. The restaurant is located in North Hollywood, not far from Universal Studios. There is valet parking which made it very convenient to get there. The staff are efficient and friendly although a bit pushy. We got a table in the garden which was nice and airy. The food was very tasty and served quickly. The restaurant closes at 10pm which I think is rather early, but being used to Italian restaurants, my experience probably doesn’t reflect American opening times :-) We ended up being the last guests and the staff obviously wanted us to go at around 9:50 pm which was a bit awkward but I did understand. On the other hand, we did pay a couple hundred bucks… which should give one some leverage … Altogether, good food (although not even close to our local trattoria in Sicily where I live half the time) with an American business touch, unbefitting “Bella Italia”

A Delightful Dining Experience

By Bill T |

This is our second visit here and it was great. Started with Fritti Misto followed by Pappardelle both of which were elegantly prepared. Service is exceptional and food is prepared deliciously. This is a dining must whenever you are in North Hollywood. Highly recommend this one.

Great Food w/ Atmosphere

By Glow2013 |

This was the best Salmon dinner I've had in a very long time. It was delicious with a wonderful flavor that melted in your mouth. We had a large party of 15 people on the beautifully appointed patio. The setting was so special and the staff were very attentive and accommodating. With such great service and good food you can't miss with this place.

Exquisite Italian

By OhKellyTravels |

Ca de Sole is a treat inside and out . . . though in L.A. you might as well eat outside and their outdoor patio is one of the nicest in the city. The food is divine without the heaviness of traditional Italian and the service is very high end. There is also a nice wine list and full bar. I've been there half a dozen times and it has never disappointed in the quality of the food or the professionalism of the service. An impressive and reliable place to take a business lunch or take out of town guests.

Perfect!

By angelia m |

The food was outstanding. The service was impeccable! They even moved us to a different area of the restaurant so that we could enjoy coffee and dessert in a quieter, more secluded area. The perfect setting for a romantic occasion.

Top notch!

By TravelingFan22 |

Although we were with a large group of 12, the service could not have been better. We sat in the back room with a large round table, which is the best for a large group so everyone is in on the conversation. All the meals looked and tasted wonderful. I had cannelloni and also shared a bite of the ravioli with spinach and truffles. Oh so good! A great choice for a special occasion dinner, but then why wait for an occasion--treat yourself!

Outstanding food, service and ambiance

By Alice W |

Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Good wine selection and the food was outstanding! Look forward to returning!

Perfect for a Summer Evening

By canncan |

We recently went to Ca' del Sole in a party of six. Though the parking is a challenge (valet only with good reason!), the ambiance once inside could not be more inviting. The large, covered patio was perfect for summer, and the waiter promptly adjusted one of the many umbrellas so that the entire party would be in the shade. The wine list was huge and included both Italian and California wines with a wide variety of prices. We started with three appetizers to share: fried zucchini and calamari with two dipping sauces, burrata and scallops and shrimp. All were delicious, and they came with a huge plate of Italian and focaccia bread. Our entrees included branzino in wine sauce, short rib raviolis, gnocchi, and spaghetti with pancetta. Everyone was completely pleased with both the quantity and quality of the food. Desserts included flourless chocolate cake, adffogato and chocolate mousse bars... yum! Service was attentive and professional. We would most definitely go again when in the area!

Oh My, Was That Good!!

By Denise C |

Service, excellent! Ambience, lovely! Food, fantastic! Prices, average for LA. All four of us ordered a different entree and all four of us loved our meal. We can't wait to go back!

Very social, great atmosphere

By Daniel H |

Work colleagues took me here for dinner and drinks whilst I visited. Lovely place with a great vibe about it. Located ideally near work with helpful and pleasant staff. The appetisers are ideal for a big group wanting to be sociable and drink. Recommended!

Great Food, Great Drinks

By dwfilice |

Went on Monday to celebrate my son passing his medical board exam and being Monday I was skeptical of quality service and food. I was pleasantly surprised as there were a lot of people there for dinner and everything was exceptional. Excellent service, great bar drinks (my Gentleman's Old Fashioned was top notch) and great Italian food. My sea food soup was excellent as were my son’s sea food linguini and my wife’s angel hair pasta with tomato.

Best Happy Hour in Town!

By SpiritWildflower |

What a pleasant surprise. Ca' Del Sole's happy hour is the best in town! It's everyday from 5pm to closing. The list of $5 appetizers has lots of variety: Calamari, Wild mushroom croustades, Steamed mussels, Truffle Fries, Pasta, Ahi Carpaccio, Meatballs, Baby back Ribs.... House wine, well drinks and the most delicious house-made Sangria are $5 as well. My favorite was the steamed mussels. The tomato garlic bouillabaisse they were served with was so yummy that I had to finish it with a spoon. Our charming waitress checked in with us every few minutes to see how we were doing. I'll be back again soon!

Ca Del Sole - okay

By Sandy B |

Went there with my boyfriend, as he had worked there years ago. Waterfall is gone that he remembered, but things change. Drinks were okay, but not exceptional, as I had heard. So we sent them back, and they were fixed. Thank you. The food was good, not exceptional, for the price. Now, I will say, the lasagna was quite good, and not heavy, very flavorful. It's not your standard block of lasagna, so that was great! I had some salmon or halibut, that was okay. Most everything is ala carte, so it can get pricey. Would I go back - maybe. There was very little on the menu that I found interesting. There are many italian restaurants available, so I would think twice before we picked here again

Great Food, Poor Service

By Max G |

We had a great dinner with friends at Ca Del Sole. We shared the shaved artichoke and Caesar salads, then had lamb chops, pappardelle with lamb ragout, and branzino. The salads were delicious. A single salad can be shared between two people. The lamb chops were wonderful--meaty, juicy and tender. The pappardelle with lamb ragout was also delicious--homemade pasta, with lots of flavor. The branzino was tender and flavorful. I would have given 5 stars but the service was spotty and rushed. We had to ask for utensils, and when the waiter realized that he had put two dishes of shaved Parmesan cheese on our table, he took one away to give to another table, even though we had taken some of the cheese out of it. Throughout the meal we felt rushed, even though we started dining at 8pm and they were not going to need our table for another party. Twice we had to tell the staff not to remove our plates because we were not finished eating.

Excellent Italian near Universal Studios

By Pacobi |

Good atmosphere and good service. Diverse Italian style menu. Excellent quality on all dishes served. Low waiting time.

Best Italian restaurant we've ever been to.

By Omri Lahav |

My friend visited Italy before and was so impressed by the delicious food served in this beautiful place! Staff were extremely professional and attentive. Appetizer (we took the shared meat and cheese plate) was delicious. We also shared the baked salmon and half-moon ravioli that were perfect. Cheese cake was home style Italian, and was great. Wine was perfect. Left the place with a 100$ bill - pricy but worth it.

Nice Italian dinner experience

By MGrahl |

Our evening at Ca' Del Sole was lovely. The restaurant was relatively quiet, so the service was quick. The pacing of the meal seemed appropriate for our party of four. I had the pumpkin ravioli... oh my! It melted in my mouth - quite a delicious blend of flavors. For dessert, I chose the vanilla creme - not quite a creme brulee, but very similar and quite tasty. Everything about our evening was quite nice, and I'd definitely return if I am ever in the area again.

Wonderful food and service

By jgsherwood |

Chose this restaurant based on location and Tripadvisor reviews as a place to get dinner after flying into Burbank at rush hour. Our flight was delayed and we had to cancel our reservation because we did not know when we would actually get to LA. We went anyway with the hope that they would have a table. They were welcoming and gracious even though we did not have a reservation and we were promptly seated. The service was attentive and the waiter was fully knowledgable about the menu and the wine list. My spouse, who loves eggplant parmigiana, said his appetizer was the best he ever tasted. He also was very pleased with the quality of his branzino. I had the duck appetizer which was thinly sliced duck breast that had been marinated in orange and other good stuff. I was unusual, creative, and tasted great. I had the bucatini pasta as an entree and it was also really good. I loved that they had good Italian wine by the glass and I ended up having two glasses of a really fine Valpolicella. Thanks Tripadvisor for steering us there.

Great old standby

By golfandbeach |

The restaurant has been there for twenty years. We hadn't gone there for a while and it was a good as we remembered. We had requested a round table for eight, and it was honored on very short notice ( for a Saturday night). The service was good and all of our meals wer well prepared. One member of our party had wanted an artichoke dish and the wiater told us that the quality of the artichokes in the market that day was too poor for the chef to use. That shows a genuine caring for the customer. Again - it's an old standby and well worth the visit.

Birthday luncheon

By larry g |

Fine dining where you can seat in outdoor cabanas or indoors as we did today. My choices. For an appetizer I liked the burrata con prosciutto di parma e zucca fritta followed by a main course of lasagne di carne, omaggio a nonna rina

A beautiful but noisy dining room

By Andrew H |

I reserved a table for five at 5 p.m. when the restaurant opens. We were seated at a table set for four. We were the second party to enter the dining room. We were four men and one transsexual woman with a full head of hair hanging beyond her shoulders. The waiter, about age 60, called her "Sir" twice. She let it pass the first time. I heard it, but thought I surely must have heard incorrectly. The second time she corrected him and he apologized sincerely, I was told by another at the table. I did not hear the apology. Now for the food. Everything on the menu is different -- unusual combinations of ingredients. I had sea bass with artichokes. Delicious fish. I like artichokes, but somehow it didn't "work" with the bass. Two had delicious venison but with a strong sauce which wasn't necessary with a flavorful venison. One had a fancy spaghetti that he did not finish, saying politely that he was full. I tasted it. It was "different." So read the menu carefully and make sure you like the combinations in the dish you choose. Desserts are all $9 and house made. Small in portion size but very sweet and delicious. Only valet parking. Street parking is available. It is a noisy dining room with brick walls Only booths; no tables.

Great family restaurant, takes large groups also

By jkwdvm |

We live within walking distance and we go here often with our two young sons. When we have gone as a family we have always had excellent service and food, hands down. We went once with a group from work (there were 8 of us) and the service was terrible, which surprised us. We had to go look for our waiter several times to place orders, and ask for our water to be refilled, etc. We were surprised by this because we had already been here half a dozen times with only excellent things to say. We went back last night as a family for the first time since we were there with the group. and once again everything was fabulous. So I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that our waiter was having an off night. They have a great outdoor patio area and a private room for meetings, baby showers, etc. Overll I would give Ca Del Sole a very high rating and we will continue to go back often. The pumpkin ravioli is a MUST have, by the way.

Delicious Italian

By Becky C |

Yum! We came here because it was close by and the food was lovely. We had bruschetta, gnocchi and the rigatoni. They were all nice. The only thing that they got wrong was forgetting my partner ordered a drink and not offering Parmesan cheese with the pasta.

Al Fresco Dining in your own Cabana

This is the place for good food and private conversation, business or romantic. Had the burrata and heriloom tomatoes appetizer and it was so delicious. Also the Risotto with shrimp and peas was a special and delicious too.

Good outing

Elegant restaurant near Universal Studios

Very good service in relaxing atmosphere. Excellent pasta dishes and smoked salmon. Went with daughter and fiance who had been before, and glad we did. Desserts are also fun to share as all seem good.

Great Setting and Food But Service Was Off

By TravelGuyMontana |

As your driving down the street to get to this restaurant, you think to yourself how good can it be, as the area is not where you would think a nice restaurant is. But sure enough, you are transformed once you step inside, you forget where you just came from. Sit on the patio if you can, it is relaxing and well decorated. Had a good size group of 8 so we started of with a few assortments of meats and cheeses, with some vegetables, olives, and bread. Very nice spread and great for that long lunch meeting. I had the spaghetti in red sauce with an assortment of seafood (clams, mussels, and shrimp). Very tasty although the noodles seemed a little over cooked. That did not stop me from cleaning my plate. The service started off good but fell to pieces in the end. Took forever to get the check. Maybe they wanted us to stay but we had eaten all we could. I would return and recommend this place. Hopefully, it is not an off day for service.

Best patio for dinner/lunch

By TrojanKey |

Ca' Del Sole is such a classic Italian restaurant with great service -waiters have been there for years- and food/wine. And oh yes have I mentioned the Patio? One of the nicest in all of LA, though you are close to Universal City and street noise there is very little heard back on the patio, beautifully lit at night. What I like best is that they feature lots of organic meat in their restaurant. Pastas and salads are great plus there is a nice brunch menu as well. Sometimes we just go there for drinks on the patio and pretend we're on vacation.

Perfect celebration dinner

By David G |

We celebrated valentine's Day and my birthday at Ca Del Sol. For us, everything was close to perfect. The food was delicious, the staff super attentive, the prices quite reasonable, and the atmosphere conducive to a couples dinner celebration. Although quite busy, the layout of the restaurant reduced the noise impact from other diners. Often, at other restaurants, the tables are so packed together that you can practically taste your neighbor's dish, to say nothing of the overall din the close packing makes. Here, comfortable booths and tables are spaced in a reasonable manner and the ceiling helps reduce noise. Street parking was also available within a block, obviating the need to pay for valet parking. What more can I say? Coming back soon! One further touch, quite acceptable wine was available in half bottle size.

MASTER OF ITALIAN CUISINE

Great venue for the 55th reunion of Hollywood High classmates

Excellent Italian buffet spread for 80 diners. Salads, pastas, chicken, fish. More than enough plus fabulous Sicilian wine. Easy location right near Universal Studios in Toluca Lake.

The Best!

By BruceS9876 |

What can I say about this restaurant. Great food! We started off with a wonderful melts in your mouth mozzarella with wonderful fresh tomato slices drizzled other balsamic vinegar. 2 of us had the filet and our wives both had the Branzino. Everyone loved the meals. Their wine selection is something that I swish I had at home. I had a fantastic glass of 2014 Roche Barolo. For dessert our friends split a tiramisu and they have one of my all time favorite desserts, affogato. So again, what can I say about Ca Del Sol. Great food, great wine selection and absolutely perfect service. Not the first time we have been here and definitely not the last!

Best Happy Hour in the Valley!

By mommylovestotravel |

iness cocktails, date night or just to chill out. Very nice staff, clean bathrooms. Always an enjoyable time at Ca' Del Sole! This review is for their happy hour - we did not have a sit-down meal. Ca' Del Sole serves up a wonderful happy hour experience in their bar area, which also has a beautiful outdoor seating area under the huge tree. Comfortable seating and lovely setting, especially when it gets dark and the italian lights are lit up in the trees. Happy hour features some of their yummy appetizers at only $5 each. The Meatballs, ahi tuna tartar, fried calamari were so great we ordered more! Glasses of house wine were $5. I think beer and a few specialty drinks are also $5. Everyday! Until close! Who can beat that?! It is a great after work spot, a place to have bus

second time visit

Anniversary meal

By christine r |

A very nice Italian restaurant a bit expensive but it was our Anniversary. The staff are very helpful and a very upmarket restaurant. Delicious.

All about the Patio

By SandersMusic |

The food here is fine. As are the drinks... It's the atmosphere that makes Ca del Sole a special place. Last time here, with visiting family from out of town, the goal was a quiet but impressive spot to enjoy each other's company over a nice meal. Mission accomplished, on all counts. Menu items are sturdy rather than adventurous. Well-proven favorites that the people here know exactly how to make. This is not a bad thing. All in all, this place has a slightly throwback quality, slightly antiquated... yet, in LA, that makes it completely of the moment. Recommended.

A Romantic Dinner

By cmpfister |

This was our first trip to Ca Del Sole and it was delicious. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the food was amazing. They also had some interesting cocktails that blended unique liquors together surprisingly well (bourbon and absinthe?). I would also highly recommend the Ossobucco, especially if you like saffron. So tender you could eat it with a spoon. My only complaint is that the parking lot is valet only, so if you wanna skip the valet service you have to park on the street.

Very good!!

By Becki W |

Very nice Italian restaurant. I enjoyed the Swedish salmon with spinach and horseradish, PERFECT!! I would definitely return!

Decent food. Good staff

By traveller2332 |

We were here for an organized dinner in one of the reception rooms. I cannot comment on the main dining room. For us, the food was good. The staff was gracious. Wine was free flowing. No regrets for an organized dinner, but nothing that blew my socks off.

We Will Be Back

By ToriEmma |

We sat outside in the courtyard for dinner at sunset. The service, atmosphere, and food were all comfortable and good. My daughter wanted to hug a palm tree since we arrived in Los Angeles, and I felt completely comfortable letting her hug the palm tree in the dining area. The olive tapenade on bread is delicious. We all liked our dinners and cleaned our plates! We will return.

An Oasis in the Desert of Hollywood - Food, Service and Atmosphere

By rfichera |

Visiting family in the Hollywood area and took my son out to dinner here. All in all among the top Italian restaurants that I have been to. We sat in the winderful outdoor area, where the tables are set among palm trees, surrounded by greenery and feeling about a million miles away from the bleak Cuhuenga Blvd outside. Staff was excellent, seemed friendly and engaged, tolerant of our questions and not in any way rushing us as we spent a fair amount of time chattering away before ordering. With only two of us on a single visit we really couldn't do do justice to the complete menu, but our sample of a wild mushroom appetizer, two pastas and a dessert convinced us that the kitchen is indeed in the hands of people who love food and are proud of what they product. My son had meat-filled ravioli with a truffle butter sauce that was exquisite, and I had pasta al amatriciana that was way up ther with the best I've had. Price was not cheap, but reasonable for what we had. Would go back any time I am in the area. Would strongly recommend that you reserve - we arrived on the early side, but well before we were through it was completely full.

Del Sol

By Thom P |

Great Italian restaurant; extensive menu with several different dishes, which adds a little flare to the dining experience. Large separate bar with its own appetizers menu. Nice wine list with several different pours; courteous staff a fun place to go.

Lovely Italian Resaurant

By dwfilice |

Went early on a Thursday to have a Martini, appetizers and a nice Italian Valpolicella Ripasso. Early on a weekday it is very quiet. Food is top-notch. Had the Pepata Di Cozze (black mussels) and ahi tuna tartar. Delicious!

Right down the street from Universal, excellent Italian

By Ken B |

Delighted to discover Ca Del Sole right at our door step. Very friendly and caring service, great pasta dishes, fun bar scene. This reminds me of a family run restaurant with excellent old world Italian recipes, but fairly upscale. Very reasonable wine list as well. The main dining room is all lounge banquet seating, very cool and very retro, but newly remodeled.

Really good Italian restaurant.

By Anthony G |

Really good Italian restaurant. I loved the beef carpaccio and the carbonara pasta. It is fresh and very tasty. Good quality. I recommend for sure this restaurant. Only thing who bothered me was the noise. People are talking so loud.

Wonderful Cabanas

By melobeam |

The skinny: Parking- $3.75 valet or street parking Decor: wonderful private curtained cabanas on the patio Service- attentive Food- so so Coke factor- nicely carbonated I came here for Sunday and lunch it was nice that we were there hanging out for 3 hours and they didnt try and kick us out (also not busy). The bread and tapenade that comes is very good. The bread is crusty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I ordered the mushroom bruschetta which didnt look that appetizing and was just ok. The cheese was not hot and melted on top (may hv been sitting waiting to come out) and the bread they serve it on is not nearly as good as the bread with tapenade. I also ordered the fritto misto with: shrimp, calamari, zucchini, and tortellini The calamari was good, not rubbery I just wish there was more zucchini. It comes with 2 dipping sauces- tarter and marinara. My friend ordered poached eggs which she said were cooked perfectly. My other friend ordered the spinach soup (puréed) and the portion is generous. The mixed green salad came with a weird dressing that looked more like pudding so she asked for oil and vinegar. May come back to try the pasta!

Awful

By Joanna B |

This place is a worn out, old style restaurant that caters to an older middle class that wouldn't know fine cuisine if it smacked them in the face. Terrible food.

Food and setting excellent, one significant flaw

By deleve |

We were meeting for a first date. The food was excellent. Personnel were personable and pleasant. The setting is romantic. The big disappointment was the service. We were still eating our appetizers, when the main course was served. The server moved aside the appetizers and put down the main courses. As he was clearing the main course, he asked whether we still wanted to eat our, now soggy, appetizer. This was a significant blemish on an otherwise very nice dinner

That angel hair pasta...!

By MsQ_1215 |

Ca Del Sole is the perfect place for a client lunch which is why I keep going back... That, and the delicious food! We started with the beef carpaccio, the bruschetta, and an order of fried calamari for the table. The bruschetta really stood out; the absolutely ripe, fresh tomatoes made for an incredible app. For my entree, I can't say I deserved pasta, but the angel hair in a fresh, delicious, garlicky tomato sauce was sheer perfection. I'll prep before my next visit with a hard workout!

Al Fresco dining experience in relaxed ambience

By VailTexan |

Prices throughout the dining menu and wine list are reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber. Valet, hosts and waiters are professional and pleasant. As a guest, you feel at home as the service while efficient is not rushed. My entree, Short Rib Ravioli, was enthusiastically recommended by our waiter (charming Italian accent, btw) was too rich as it was swimming in clarified butter and topped with Parmesano. The waiter apologized and made up for it by presenting a delicious dessert on the house. Overall, a satisfactory dining experience.

Very average

We had a late lunch here on a Sunday afternoon (2 PM) outdoors on their patio. I would recommend the patio just due to the privacy the small cabanas offer. The food was very average and not as special as we expected since the menu is rather pricey. The tepanade was very good with the bread, but the meals the five of us had only hit well on one cylinder. Two of us had the Osso Bucco, which was tasty, but rather unattractively presented. The rest had a ravioli dish that was very overpriced for the presentation and taste, a fish dish that was extremely tasty but again poorly presented for the price, and the last was a whole boneless chicken that was the winner in both presentation and quality. Parking is limited and thus valet only, unless you can find a place on the busy street. The wait staff is excellent and accommodating. I think the prices were extremely high considering that only of us had two drinks and we shared dinner salads to compliment the meal. The restaurant gets glowing reviews and that is why we visited it to celebrate a successful performance by my sister. It aint all that great and we will not be back.

Terrific Food...Fun Time

By Acitalian |

I have had the opportunity to have dinner at Ca' Del Sole on two different occasions when visiting the area for business. Each time we had a large group (10 +) and we were seated promptly at the time of our reservation. The staff was very attentive and extremely friendly. The food was terrific...everyone enjoyed the what they ordered. Go if you are in area you won't be disappointed.

I went there with my wife to celebrate our 28th year Anniversary.

By michaelW3717PY |

I made Reservation early and to sit out side in one of the Cabanas. They told me I had to wait 40 minutes because they didn't have it listed. But once we got seated it was an entirely different experience. The waitress was great and informative. She gave her recomendations and from there it was great. The food was great. Can't wait to go back

Good food, comfortable setting.

By Taichionthebeach |

Our party of five had a pleasant get-acquainted dinner at this North Hollywood / Toluca Lake spot. This is a regular dining haunt for two of our group, and they were happy we all enjoyed it. Entrees varied from risotto to chicken to branzino, with bigoli and pappardelle holding down the pasta front. All were well received, as were our beet salads. Server was attentive but sensed when to back off as we got to know each other. Relaxing color palette (lots of green, with offset decor elements), comfortable booth. The handsome adjoining bar seemed intimate. Might get here early, as the place was full on a Monday by the time we finished at 8, but it never got noisy.

Quick Service, Great Food

If you are looking for a place around universal to get a great quick dinner go to Ca Del Sole. Great big portions, really good pasta, salads, and appetizers.

Here I found my grandmother cuisine

By piodalcin |

I often travel from Italy to L.A. When I stumbled upon this Italian restaurant I thought that I was dreaming. The food I ate here reminded me the way my mom and my grandmom used to prepare those great dishes I grew up with. The warmth of the place and the prompt service of the ever ready staff made also the difference. Now I know where to eat everytime I come over to South California. I'm willing to go the distance, even if I am not in L.A. just to come and enjoy the real Italian food, not just the mere copies I had tasted in other locations

Excellent Italian

By TokyoVisitor |

The food was excellent. Our group had a sublime Bronzino carpaccio, excellent zuppe di pesce and gnocchi, and pretty good tuna tartare, artichoke salad, and bruschetta. Service was very slow.

delicious food

delicious food with generous portions. Friendly staff. Easy parking makes it a plus. Definitely will be returning.

Legendary industry Universal City area eatery

By MooshLA |

Finally had a dinner meeting here after all these years and was seated outside on the patio. It was a bit chilly so had to request a heater a few times and then it finally arrived. Other than that the staff seemed attentive and knowledgeable of their menu. I ordered the house salad which was as expected and nothing to note. The entree was the Bronzino which was fresh however a bit over sauced with a white wine base on a bed of artichokes. The meal was flavorful however not overwhelming. The location seems to be the base for many a power meal given the proximity to the studios.

Wonderful Italian Food in Burbank

By SWA17 |

The place was lovely and we had just finished the Warner Bros tour and Ubered to Ca' Del Sole. The place was lovely, service impeccable and the food was delicious. WE were on a Dr, trip for my daughter. The teenagers were skeptical but at the end they said that was the best lasagna EVER!

Awesome Italian

By KAG513 |

Great food and service. There was 15 of us, everything was deliciously tasty and service was wonderful.

Mediocre quality

By paleomatt |

Italian restaurants that really care about quality should be working with olive oil in all of their dishes. It was really a shock to discover that this place uses canola and soy oil in so many of their recipes.

Wonderful changes...

By awinrm |

I am in L.A. only for the summers and visit Ca del Sole each year. I was beginning to think the place was tired and the food getting ordinary. Wow....was I surprised this summer. A major remodel of the patio and part of the inside. Great new dishes on the menu....great presentation. Something new is going on in the kitchen....and it is great. Very happy to have on one of my favorite Valley restaurants back on the top of the list.

The food and service were good. I had the beet salad and the short rib ravioli both were delicious and more than I could eat. The staff was attentive.

A great brunch on the patio

By AndyW19 |

I have been to Ca Del Sole twice, the first time for dinner, the 2nd and most recent time for Sunday Brunch. Sat on the patio, great food, great service and beautiful day. A win win all the way around, as the young lady I took, who had not been there before, loved the experience.

Great service, nice ambiance

By Isunwin |

We came here to celebrate my mom's 76th birthday. We had an 8PM reservation and were seated promptly. The service was magnificent and the menu offered a nice variety of Mediterranean flare. We will definitely come back. Great place

EXCELLENT ITALIAN !!

Excellent italian spot in Los Angeles. Service is on point starting with the valet to wait staff. Talented and knowledgeable wait staff, great food and wine list.. Can't miss here!!!

It's tough to beat. The food and the service

By Paula C |

They have the best Happy Hour around. But, I just went there for dinner. Had a wonderful steak and pasta. Arugula Salad was fantastic. The chocolate dessert is the best I've ever had

THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEIR NAME TO "SORRY WE ARE OUT OF THAT ITEM"

By tvsev |

First we ordered the lemon pasta that was on the special menu. "Sorry we are out of that pasta" Well substitute another pasta - "sorry we are out of the lemon sauce". Well ,I will have the spaghetti carbonara instead. "Sorry we are out of panchetta". How can an Italian place be out of panchetta ? I guess we should have asked for the menu that has items they are not out of. For dessert you have berries on the menu, can I have just blueberries? Yes of course. Sorry we are out of blueberries. Honest - I am not kidding !! Think they offered something to compensate - a drink? a dessert ? Not a chance - guess they were also out of common sense. /

Terrific Food!

By Daina B |

We are there last night for the first time for my daughters 24th Birthday. Every dish was spectacular including desert. Wait staff was attentive and try some incredible Italian wines while you are there.

Great Italian traditional food!!

Warm quiet atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food

By Marcia1_9 |

We enjoyed the lovely setting, attentive waiter and the ability to have a nice conversation in a quiet atmosphere. The fireplace added a glow and warmed us on a chilly night. There were four of us, and each enjoyed the food. It was beautifully presented and delicious.

A very Happy Easter

By singingbackup |

Reserved a table for Easter Sunday, and originally was a bit taken back with the 3-course prix fixe menu, but it was walking distance from the church and I have always been pleased with the food at Ca' Del Sole. The menu, food, atmosphere, service was well worth the price. I had the beef carpaccio, lamb shank with sauteed spinach and berries and whip cream, which was not on the menu, but they were so accommodating of my Keto diet. My companion had a wonderful salad, chicken entree and creme brulee for dessert. Once again, the quality of food and the care given to us was exceptional. Thank you Ca' Del Sole for a wonderful holiday meal.

Consistently Great

By dougontheroad |

Ca Del Sole is our go-to place when we have visitors in town. The atmosphere is peaceful, all staff are very pleasant, professional and never hover. Choose anything on the menu because it will be excellent. Make the effort to try this restaurant.

Fresh food; prompt and attentive service

By Nichole B |

Food was fresh and perfectly prepared. Prompt and attentive service; never had to ask for anything. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere; elegant without be stuffy or formal. Many options to suit all diets from paleo to vegetarian. Panna cotta is the best I've ever had.

Come for Happy Hour, Stay for Dinner

By Ambersea |

We arrived early and headed for the bar. It was crowded and very noisy. However, $5 for a glass of wine or a well drink and $5 for bar plates is unbeatable. We had dinner reservations, so we just split an order of Fritto Misto (Fried calamari, tiger shrimp, vegetable tortelli, and zucchini, with a choice of tartar or marinara sauce. Very generous serving and quite yummy. They brought out bread with a nice olive tapenade. You could make a meal from just a few of these yummy appetizer dishes. We chose to sit on the patio for dinner, which was a relief from the noise of the bar. I ordered Branzino Ai Carciofi (Mediterranean sea bass filet with artichoke hearts and diced tomatoes with a delicious sauce of mustard, garlic, white wine and lemon). My friend ordered the Bistecca di Manzo (grilled grass-fed rib-eye steak with crispy fingerling potatoes and broccoli spears, cooked to perfection (still crisp). The service was very attentive and we were very pleased.

Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere

By portergirlbooks |

The food here is delicious with large portions. Beautiful, serene atmosphere. Had the beet salad, shortrib ravioli - mouthwatering. Service is great, convenient parking. Great drink menu, too.

Pasta was really good

By usbizz |

Popular with employees of NBCUniversal - walking distance. When I'm in the area, I usually order dish: Pasta Amatriciana. Really goid, not too spicy, just right. This visit was a request from my guests who liked the food at this restaurant and asked to take them again this time.

Still Reliable

By foodhoundBurbank_Ca |

It's been years since we last enjoyed this restaurant and our latest visit didn't disappoint. The osso bucco was tender and tasty though I would have preferred something other than the gnocchi. A breaded pork cutlet met with my wife's approval. A beet salad drew kudos from our companions, as did the pasta dish. The room was inviting and the service was outstanding. Made me wonder why we waited so long to return.

Best Lasagna EVER! Great food and service. Friendly

By Debbie K |

We chose this restaurant based on good reviews- and they were right! Great food and atmosphere, nice italian family restaurant with lots of regular italian locals. Don't miss this place! AWESOME!

Refined atmosphere

Seating is like restaurants used to be -- large tables, well spaced from each other, subdued atmosphere, great service. Very good food -- salads, pastas, veal.

The Best Food and Service!

By EMFredric |

Ca' Del Sole is always friendly, has a special table for me, remembers me and I'm not there that often! They're just the finest staff and so professional and knowedgeable and I love accents having grown up with my mother's European version of our vowels and consonants. The drinks come swiftly, the watier tells you what if any specials might be of interest, warm bread if you dare is brought with my usual appetizer. My favorite thins on the menu is the boneless whole chicken. It is to die for with all of the taste sensations they have going on. My friends have tried various fish or pasta dishes and loved them but I'm the kind of person who once she finds a place and a certain dish? That's it. I take my leftovers with no guilt or concern and make the best wraps around with my veggies and chicken. The bar is when you walk into the door across from the main reservation desk and I know a woman who met her husband there during happy hour and it stuck! Outdoor dining is available but I prefer indoor, it's warmer and never loud so I enjoy the murmering of conversations happening amongst the tables. I always enjoy this place and highly recommend it.

Great drinks and good food.

By Gracielame |

Every time I come here I am happy with the drinks. Never watered down or too sweet. The food is also excellent. Our server was amazing too.

just a great food

Fantastic food, Great service. Will definitely come back again. We went for New Years Eve, they had a special with very nice choices. The place was decorated very festive also.

Revisiting Ca' Del Sole

By ajkwawer |

Trying to find a restaurant for dinner on a Monday night as well as a holiday night (President's Day) with visitor's who were in the Silverlake District was a challenge. We wanted good food, good service, good ambience, reasonable pricing and, not the least important, parking. We found all at an old favorite Ca' Del Sole. In addition to the foregoing requirements we also found relaxation. We were able to talk without feeling any pressure of the "we have to move the table" type. Try it, you'll like it.

Yum

By O2046HElindaw |

Great service, check out the happy hour menu, I had the mussels in garlic...next time I will order 2 portions. Nice environment and social distancing is observed

Beautiful space, good food

By Randi R |

Ca' del Sole is off the beaten track in the Valley not far from Universal. The restaurant is quiet, very pretty and would be a good choice for a large group. I've been eating here for many years, maybe, twice a year. The restaurant doesn't have the excitement of a brand new place or celebrity chef but the food and service are always good.

Family Meal

By michael c |

Had an excellent meal with all the family enjoying both the surroundings and the excellent food. The waiting staff were pleasant and helpful. We must recommend the calamari and prawn tortellini and the squid ink linguini. My wife enjoyed a very tasty lamb shank.

Better Than Ever! Beautiful and Delicious

By elayne b |

We've been coming to this wonderful restaurant for decades. They always keep up with food trends and decor and manage to stay familiar yet reinvent themselves with new amazing dishes and beautiful ambience. Their current menu is as varied and delicious as ever. It is one of the most beautiful restaurants and patios in LA and the food is more fantastic than ever.

Beautiful evening, 10 out of 10!

By Kat H |

Great ambiance, great food, and superb menu! Could not have asked for a better meal! From the bread and tapenade, to the appetizers, the martini and main courses it was top notch! Also, must point out how wonderful the Valet was. Such a kind human and very professional.

BEST pumpkin raviolli EVER

By queenwolf2 |

This restaurant was 'fancier' than I normally like. I am more casual, laid back but this menu sounded interesting and both my niece and sister are vegetarians, so they were a good choice. My niece had just gotten engaged so we decided this was the place to go. It was great. The food was wonderful. There wasnt anything negative about the experience. All the staff was friendly. Our Server, Mr. Hermosillo (from my receipt) was very nice....he was informative and patient with three ladies trying to agree on appetizers, and deserts. The pumpkin ravioli was to die for. I could not have asked for a more tasty combination. We had burrata for appetizer and it was soooo good. AND the crema di vaniglia was HEAVEN...sheer heaven. My sister had the Zuppa, which she said was excellent. Best meal EVER. Give it a try. you will be very happy with the food and if you like pumpkin HAVE IT HERE THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR FAMILES AND KIDS. The menu, the atmosphere, I would say for special occasions, couples, even business but not kids.

Like the name of the restaurant, everything is "sunny" - food is fantastic, service quick, location great!

By margaretolele |

This restaurant is great for close family and friends gathering, by far one of the best Italian restaurant I have ever visited. From the soup to the salad with mango and grilled salmon as well as the food sea food spagehtti... the list is endless. I went there for celebrate my birthday and also got complimentary dessert for my birthday:)

Great Vibe, Great Food, Great Wine List

By ACinSoCal |

It can be romantic sitting on the patio, or fun after work sitting in the indoor / outdoor patio. Just the simple but important things: Quick, efficient Valet, lots of room to sit indoors or out, friendly hostess with the manager always roaming about, very knowledgeable waiters, very complete wine list and amazing food. From the simple meat lasagna to Sea Bass....it's all well done.

Nice italian food

Lovely, Authentic Five Star Italian Restaurant

By SFO45 |

It's a treat to dine at an Italian restaurant like Ca' del Sole. The food is exquisite, the presentation is spot on, and the wine list is comprehensive, especially as you might imagine, with Italian wines. My only complaint for the evening was that when we were first seated, the waiter was slow to find us and take our drinks order. Following that, everything was perfect. I had the lamb chops, preceded by a Caesar salad, and everything was great. Other people at the table had carpaccio and various pastas. Come here for that really special evening.

local italian eatery

a very popular local restaurant within easy walking distance-yes i walk in Los Angeles- fresh fish from the market, there is valet parking if you drive.an outside sitting area has several canopy covered tables in case or rain or wind or just for privacy. fast service from the waiters, there is bar if you need to wait, but we always book ahead and just sit down and eat.Soups and salads are fresh, excellent Californian wine, you are not hassled to get out quick. A very laid back crowd, casual dress and subdued lighting ,no loud music ,a very pleasant evening

Amazing hidden gem

By illini511 |

I absolutely enjoyed every minute of my meal here. We were seated in this beautiful outdoor patio; nice and private. The wine selections by our waiter were spot-on. We had the minestrone soup, capellini alla checca, mezzelune di zucca barucca, and flourless chocolate cake. One of the best meals I have had!! I will be back!

A bit pricey but worth it

By Hal R |

For a special occasion this is a great place. On a nice day dining in the patio is a special treat. This is studio area so you are liable to spot a celebrity on occasion. I had the Osso Bucco and it was the best. Service couldn't be better. Valet parking.

Great service!

The Service: A+++!!! Hostess is very friendly. General manger is greeting the customers at the front desk. Feeling very welcomed. Our server is very knowledgeable & very pleasant. Every staff serving our table is fantastic!! They are all very attentive and we feel like VIP. The Food: Valentine's Day Pri-fix menu. 3 courses for $65. LOTS of varieties to choose from each course. Fresh ingredient & nice plate presentation. The Parking: Valet Parking and Street metered parking (challenge). If you are looking for romantic evening with your special ones, this is the place you should definitely consider. They have a nice patio seating area, we will definitely come back to try it out.

Always a great experience

By Beth B |

For the many dinners we've had over the years at Ca' Del Sole, we have never had a reason to complain. We like dining with friends in a relaxed atmosphere where you can converse without feeling the need to yell to be heard. The serving staff is attentive and the food, primarily Italian, is well prepared and delicious. We've liked all the dishes we tried. There is valet parking on the property.

Delicious

By Sha820 |

Our group (there were 7 of us) were seated on the patio, which would have been just fine if the sky hadn't opened up on us. We were moved into a private dining area and from there the evening took on a special tone. Fresh pasta, wonderful wine selection, friendly staff. Ca' Del Sole came highly recommended by some locals, and it didn't disappoint.

We tried the Fried Calamari

Adorable date night restaurant

By bangalicious |

this is a great place to have a romantic diner out in their beautiful patio. big plus if you score a table under a cabana for two on a warm summer night like we did. service is attentive and pleasant, this is a good dinner date. and oh, try having a drink in their bar before dinner and enjoy their wonderful happy hour prices for well drinks and wine.

Good food!

By Kevin R |

Had seven in our party. All were pleased with their meals. Standouts were the lamb dishes. The ribbon pasta with lamb was a hit for me. Everyone in our party was happy with their orders. Wine was great as well and paired well with our food. As mentioned before it is a loud place early, tapering down later. All and all, wonderful experience! Bathrooms were clean as well.

Lovely experience

By GMBG |

Warm reception. Lovely space. Great menu. Excellent bar and wine list. Great meal. Only negative comment was that waitress did not know how to debone fish leaving many small bones on fish. Aside from that, a nice meal

Excellent Entrees and Average Service

By MarkW |

Took our party of 7 to this restaurant. We were seated promptly in a comfortable dining room. Great menu selection. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. Also, the desserts were very good. Service was slow and the pacing was off. There was some kind of a mess up on the order so one person at our table did not get their entree until the rest of us were about half finished with our meal. This restaurant has the potential of an "Excellent" rating if the service could be improved upon a bit. The Excellent Entrees makes it "Very Good."

Very good with one exception...

By MsQ_1215 |

We did a large group for lunch and it was quite tasty. The bread was toasted perfectly and served with a delicious olive tapenade, the bruschetta was flavorful and not too garlicky, and the velvety burrata with prosciutto was probably one of the best parts of the meal. I sampled an employee's angel hair in fresh tomato sauce before she dug in; it was so delicious, that I wished I would have indulged and ordered it. My business partner wasn't quite as thrilled with his seared scallops- he questioned their freshness, but the ginormous charcuterie platter was there to fill the gap for him. Had it not been so warm out, I would have love to have dined outside in one of the cabanas- very cute.

Excellent

By kla2015 |

Excellent food and a great wine list, from very affordable wines to a number of really expensive ones. All the dishes we had were excellent, the service great and the patio seating very nice, too.

I'll take the patio, please

By ChristineLA |

The food is always amazing, and whether a business lunch (it's a go-to-standard for that in my book) or a great dinner with friends, this is a really strong choice. It's hard to beat sitting on the lovely patio at Ca Del Sol on a nice day or evening, especially in a cabana. The pasta on my last visit - with a few clients from New York - was so amazing, (pumpkin Ravioli, cheese/spinich ravioli) that we all talked about it during the day as we went from meeting to meeting. A solid and sometimes innovative wine list, and top drawer service belies the price level, which is not low, but could easily be much higher. It's not in the most scenic locations, on the turn by Universal Studios on Cahuenga, but once you're inside, it's a definitely serene environment. I wish I was going today!

By Alan G |

A family get together celebrating 2 birthdays. We were 22 people. We had a private room with a outdoor patio area for a open bar and the serving of appetizers. A choice menu of pasta dishes, or veal or fish. Salad and dessert was also served. Every dish was fantastic. The service was beyond great. A very impressive event.

Excellent Italian

By louisfrank2016 |

Excellent Italian restaurant near the Garland hotel. Great food with the usual giant portions in the US. My wife’s, otherwise very tasty, fish soup allowed a whole family to eat with ease. My steak was also huge. And before that we had already shared a pasta, which even with half a portion was actually enough. Highly recommended. Pay attention to the mandatory valet parking. We had not seen the sign and the valet was not happy. Of course, we made up for that. Staying for the Dutch the tax that always comes on top of the bill and the expected very high tip always strange.

Bellinis!

By pigeonvoyager |

Always a solid choice for lunch and dinner we decided to try their brunch- which is great for folks who don't really want breakfast items since they have the whole menu available as well. They have outstanding fresh peach bellinis that come with 2 refills. That alone is reason to eat here. They have lovely patio dining with ample shade and cabanas for 4 or 6. The Mezzelune di Zucca Barucca, pumpkin pasta with sage butter sauce is noteworthy. Salads are also very good. The potatoes that come with the egg dishes are really yummy.

great Italian in a lively atmosphere

By Kirk E |

Located just past the main gate to Universal Studios, Ca' de Sole has been a neighborhood mainstay for decades, and with good reason. Over the years, the villa-style restaurant has undergone numerous upgrades (among the most recent the enclosing of the former patio into a lovely bar area), but the reliability of the kitchen remains unchanged. This a great place for some Northern Italian specialties. The squid ink pasta, served with seasonal variations, is among the best around. Service has that old-school Italian combination of courtesy mixed with just the right amount of bluster, and the wine list offers more than ample pairing choices. When we lived in LA, this was one of our small handful of go-to restaurants, and as visitors we return whenever we're in the vicinity.

Thoroughly enjoyable

By Harvey Z |

A vibrant but traditional Italian restaurant with a delightful menu. Everything we had was perfectly prepared.

Always a great place for dinner!

By dougontheroad |

My wife and I have not been here for a long time, simply due to being busy. We had out of town friends visiting and decided it was time to return. The decor has been dramatically updated but the food is as good as ever! We had a variety of seafood and pasta - I had Cioppino, some of the best I have ever had. And I have had it in a lot of exceptional restaurants. Peaceful, not rushed, service was very subtle and always there when we needed. A perfect evening!!

Lovely patio dinner/great food.

By jackmom1112 |

I don't know if there is more than one location for this restaurant - we dined in the Burbank area. We loved it! My husband has dined here before while in Burbank for work. We had a very nice table on the patio - perfect temperature under a covering of trees. Service was great - attentive and friendly. We shared a large appetizer of meats/cheese/marinated vegetables, and it was delicious. The salads are great, and we both enjoyed our pasta dishes very much (chicken/pork/veal tortellini in a butter/sage sauce, and angel hair with tomatoes and basil). I just really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food. It felt special, but not fussy. The food is well-prepared and well-portioned (not too big or small). Loved it.

never delish

By Shi Hu |

Because of its strategic location, we frequently meet friends from Pasadena there for dinner . ie - it's convenient! It is popular, busy and bustling. The seating is comfortable. The wait staff is professional and attentive, but the food is rather mediocre and quite salty. I've never had a delicious meal at Ca' del Sole.

Great Attention to Detail

By H Joseph F |

Ca’ Del Sole is charming from the moment you walk in. It is attractively decorated. Staff is prompt to deliver menus, offer drinks, provide bread and olive tapenade, and take orders. Their extensive lunch and dinner menu offers selections typical of a restaurant in Italy: Antipasti, Zuppe, Insalate, Primi (pasta dishes), Secondi (meat and fish dishes), and Desserts. The wine list covers the entire back page of the menu. They have separate menus for Sunday Brunch and Happy Hour on weekdays. Our party ordered Mezzelune Di Zucca Barucca, Gnocchi Al Pesto E Pinoli, and Salmone Affumicato E Rafano. They were all delicious, but I found the salmon to be the best I have ever tasted. It was perfectly cooked with a subtle brown sugar glaze.

Amazing dinner outside in fresh air

By mobachman |

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend. We sat outside in our own cabana area, which was perfect for enjoying the beautiful weather without baking in the sun. The food was delicious and the service was superb.

Something for everyone

By outdoorgirlnj7 |

While visiting LA, friends took me here. Loved the outdoor dining, with colorful curtains to separate the tables. Service was prompt and very friendly. Found so many food options I almost couldn't decide! Friends and I all ordered the chicken and vegetable which was tasty and prepared very differently with breaking and cooked well. Nice size portions too. Good wine list and I was told many celebrities dine there, however we didn't see any!

Italian Heaven in Burbank

By Beth T |

Delicious food and excellent service define Ca del Sol. Near Universal Studios but nothing like the run of the mill chains on City Walk. Prices are reasonable! You can enjoy a relaxing evening on the patio near the propane heaters if the weather is cool. Don't miss this one!

Fantastic Dinner

By tojopop |

What a treat to have dinner here. Wait staff was helpful and service was prompt and not intrusive. The kitchen will take custom orders and whipped up a chicken Milanese that was crisp and tasty. A garlic, oil and basil pasta was hands down the best we ever tasted. We shared that dish and took turns saying “Just one more twirl..”. Ripe tomatoes under creamy burrata and a green salad with raw artichoke hearts. A nice contrast to the richness of the cheese. Desserts were heavenly and I wish I had tried them all. There is an outdoor garden area under a canvas ceiling that was lovely and the main dining room is spacious and relaxing. I highly recommend you give this wonderful eatery a try.

Very much improved

By ciaoallan |

Love this place and the owner is from my favorite city Venexia!!! Heard that it was "not like the old days!"...... But I disagree it is still very authentic and wonderful.

Very very noisy but food and service good

By The Global Explorer |

This is a very good Italian restaurant. The service is friendly and attentive, the food superb. The only downer is the high level of noise which is very high. Its like dining sat in a drum. It is difficult to hear or talk (shout) at your fellow diners. They need somebody to do something with the acoustics to absorb the noise because we left with a headache and it detracts from the whole dining experience.

Soooo good!

By LessaMontreal |

We went to Ca Del Sole after a visit to Warner Bros. It's a 45 mins walk. The food is really good. We had the Duck Ragu Pasta and the Rabbit. Wine selection is good. Service was A-1. I recommend and would definitely go back.

I’ve been going to this outstanding restaurant for years. It remains one of my favorites. A charming Italian restaurant designed to look like an Italian inn, it features an outstanding menu a wine list featuring a choice of 700! The service is outstanding—enabling people from nearby Universal Studios to enjoy an outstanding lunch and get back to work on time. I had a wonderful mezzaluna with pumpkin and squash filling. One of my perennial favorites is capellini ala cecca.

Beautiful atmosphere, great drinks and food

Terrific valet parking is a must in L.A. Was so grateful to see that it was only $6 which is a bargain in this town. The ambiance is just so beautiful at this restaurant. The service was excellent. Started out with their warm bread and a beautiful tapenada. We shared the carpaccio. Totally delicious. We moved on to the arugula salad with shaved artichoke hearts and a lemon vinaigrette with freshly shaved parmesan. So good! And we finished off with the pappardelle ragout pasta. I love this restaurant and will definitely be back.

Fantastic Italian food with the BEST Value!

Chef Davide is a Pasta Genius! My wife and I order the Butternut Raviolis, the Lamb Papardelle and the Rigatoni alla Buttera every time we go...we sometimes change it up but these are our DEFINITE must-haves. For the Appertizers we usually start with their generous helping of their mussels in a spicy tomato sauce or the tuna tartar, or the grilled octopus. There are usually a number of specials to choose from but we are creatures of habit at this restaurant. The staff is REALLY attentive, the servers are knowledgable, and the sommelier is just a moment away. A LARGE assortment of wines from all over the world! And this restuarant is VERY affordable. Also, you want to wind down after dinner, there is a bar that is separate to the restaurant, both indoors and outdoors. Also, dining in the restaurant you can either sit at a booth, a table inside, or dine in your own private booth outside..yes, outdoor seating as well. This place is simply amazing!

Outstanding

Absolutely stellar experience at this restaurant! The service was truly outstanding, with attentive and friendly server who made our dining experience exceptionally enjoyable. As for the food, it was nothing short of exceptional. Every single dish we ordered was a culinary masterpiece, each with its own unique and delectable flavor profile. From the first bite to the last, we were continually delighted by the savory and tantalizing tastes that danced on our palates. The chefs here clearly possess a remarkable talent for creating dishes that are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Our visit was an absolute delight, and we can't wait to return to savor more of their culinary delights. Highly recommended!

A PLEASANT SUNDAY BRUNCH

By FredSimson |

We arrived for brunch as the restaurant was opening; 11:00 AM. Service was good and efficient. No lag time because we were the first there. The outdoor seating was pastoral and nicely escaped the Valley hustle and bustle. Food was good as far as it went. I missed some more exotic "Brunch" fare. As I perused the menu, it showed a nice "Breakfast" selection, No Lox, or Prosciutto, or cheese selection...Still, if you're looking for a nice solid Brunch Ca' Del Sole is an OK destination.

The Best Happy Hour Around!

By SpiritWildflower |

This is one of my favorite happy hour places when I visit my sister. The mussels are to die for. The broth so yummy, I slurp up every drop. The wild mushroom crostini is rich & decadent. The sangria fresh & very easy to drink. The crab cakes & Frito Misto are sis' fav. The Lounge outdoor seating is welcoming & hip. A fun place to end the day!

Beautiful Italian Restaurant

My husband & I were holidaying from Australia but we met a friend for dinner here who is now a LA local at her recommendation. To us it seemed like a fancy fine dining restaurant but our friend said that compared to LA this is not fine dining. It was a Monday night & not overly busy. Table service was very good & the waiter was attentive. We were given fresh bread & oil. Food came out quickly & was very nice. My husband wanted plain old spaghetti but it wasn't on the menu. They did say they could make it for him & they did & he said it was delicious. Be warned the wine menu can get very expensive. My only negative comment was the waiter cleared some of our plates while one of us was still eating which was very rude. Usually you should wait till all people at the table have finished eating & then clear the plates.

The experience was very good, the customer service was spectacular, they know English, Spanish and Italian. They recommended very good food and dessert to us. Very good seafood and pasta.

Delicious food and helpful, friendly staff

Came here with a friend on a Sunday early evening/late afternoon, when it was empty except for a few other guests. As soon as we walked in I was taken aback by the beautiful interior design, which made the place look much more lavish than expected. I had been expecting a nice but otherwise casual environment, but I felt pretty out of place in my sweatshirt and jeans - next time I go back I'll be wearing something nicer. Anyhow we were seated by a very friendly server who guided us through the specials of the day, and answered all our questions about the other choices on the menu. She also guided us through the wine choices, going above and beyond to explain everything very thoroughly to my friend and I who are not at all well-versed in wines. I ended up getting the agnolotti burro e salvia and a glass of moscato, both of which were absolutely delicious. The portion sizes weren't ridicuously big, which I enjoyed, and the pasta was well-cooked, the filling was savory, and the sauce was creamy. I'm looking forward to my next visit, although I'm sad that I don't live close enough to come back as often as I'd want!

A nice surprise

Have driven by Ca' Del Sole probably a thousand times but never thought of eating there. Was only when a friend suggested it that we went. What a treat. Excellent snapper carpaccio followed by a really rich and satisfying ragu with lamb. Large glasses of wine and hefty portions. Not terribly cheap but you don't feel cheated. Will go again. The only thing stopping it getting an Excellent review was the waiter who was just a bit too familiar.....

Great Italian Restaurant

4 of us were visiting from Denver for the Rose Bowl Parade and Rose Bowl game and we had read an on-line review regarding Ca Del Sole so we thought we would give it a try. We were so pleased with everything about this restaurant. The food was excellent, the wait staff were just great and the atmosphere was authentic. We booked through Open Table app and everything went perfectly. I received a confirmation call from the restaurant, they were actually able to seat us a little early and we had a great evening. I can't emphasize enough how great the food was. We ordered four different main dishes and all were excellent. They made our new years eve very special. Thank you Ca Del Sole for your excellent work!

Sanctuary in LA ... and the food was pretty good too

We were visiting Universal Studios, staying at the Sheraton, and looking for a decent place to eat. After driving for days, something walkable seemed nice. The reviews on this place were great, so we gave it a try. Walking there from the Sheraton was not hard, less than a mile, but I would not have done it in the dark. The restaurant is in a sketchy part of town, and that is after crossing over the LA River (which is really just a concrete culvert that seems like a good place for a dead body). Anyway, we arrived at the restaurant and they clearly understood the situation of their surroundings, because they mask it very well. A nice patio with high walls to block out the streets and used car lots; music to drown out the traffic and screams. All very relaxing. The food itself was great and, for the most part, deserving of the high ratings this place has received. One of our dishes was very marginal but I'm ok with those odds. The service was great, and our "bus boy" - a 60 year-old friendly man, was very attentive and very helpful. So yea, hit this place if you're at the Sheraton and want to venture out. Walk to it if you want a little adventure, but keep track of when the sun sets.

Good food, quite expensive.

This restaurant has a good quality food. Located very closed to the road, has a nice terrace, with trees and good environment. The food was good but the price is quite expensive.

Great meal

I've eaten at Ca' Del Sole several times in the past but am only getting around to reviewing it now. Maybe because we finally took the kids and turned it into a family favorite. The menu was perfect for all, the service was great. Our waitress was friendly, personable and funny, and made great recommendations for all. We ate on the patio and had a very special night.

Great service, great food!

The staff is so attentive, and the kitchen was super fast! Dessert is a must, we had the flour less cake and it melted in our mouths.

Lavish, luxurious yet comfortable

Wow! This is the second time I've been to this restaurant and from the moment you walk in, you feel taken care of. Hostess, busboys, waiters...EVERYONE cares about your experience. Food was delicious, portions are great and prices are SUPER reasonable considering you are in Studio City. I will keep coming back!
