Festive French Dinner with Friends

By GrapeHeart |

Cadot's is a terrific place for a night out with your favorite person or group of friends. It has a comfortable sophisticated ambiance and terrific food. One of my favorite French dishes is Steak Fritz which was prepared nicely with subtle blend of spice on the steak. I tasted the flounder too which was topped with a wonderful sauce that wasn't too heavy but had some substance. I opted for a salad as my starter but the soups and appetizers looked great. For those not heavily into French food, don't be afraid to dine at Cadot. Many menu items are friendly but they do offer some of the very traditional French items too which works for us. My husband is a runner and wants to watch fat and opt for healthier entree items such as fish or chicken and veggies and Cadot's menu is plentiful with choices. The restaurant is easy in and out in a strip shopping center with self park. Our visit was on the weekend so the place was full and the owner was on site and visited tables making sure diners were enjoying themselves. When considering a relaxing dinner out without chaos and drama consider Cadot.

Viva la France for lunch too!

By Yvonne R |

I have had dinner here several times but this was my first visit for lunch. There is a separate lunch menu with soups, quiches & smaller portions of the dinner favorites like the trout. Or you can order from the regular menu. I do think it is odd that a French restaurant serves a ravioli & also a crab cake atop risotto instead of crepes but all those romantic countries are so incestuous anyway...

Superb!

By suz55tbird |

Food, service, presentation, friendliness, the building-everything about my experience here was exceptional. Ruiz took excellent care of us, and it was a pleasure to chat with chef Jean-Marie. The coq au vin, beignets, and dessert soufflé were all delicious. Without doubt, anytime I’m in Dallas, I will stop here.

So Disappointed

By Marlene K |

A group went there for lunch to honor a lady leaving our company. Out of the 15 attending I only 1 or 2 say positive comments. It was too expensive for what you got. I expected--for the prices--the food to be outstanding. I got a salad--wait a minute I got some bib lettuce laying on top of a little dressing spread in the bottom of the dish. The other ingredients{except for chicken} would have fit in a cup--very little. The grilled chicken that was on it was tough and cold. I would argue that it had even been cooked that day. One lady ordered Lobster Ravioli and she got 3 med size ravioli for $16. Another lady said that her salmon was also tough. There were other comments, but this is a few. Our waiter had NO personality and I had to ask multiple times to just get some lemon. Lets say when we got back to the office, most of the people said they would not go back. I don't mind paying if the food and service I get is worth it.

Not Impressed

By TexasGal-02 |

After reading others reviews I have to say I was hesitant to write mine. However, if I failed to then I wouldn't be doing a service to TripAdvisor. I do take reviews seriously and hope someone can benefit from another perspective. Our visit was in late November and we were treating 2 people to birthday dinners. When we arrived we were lead to the bar area to wait until our party arrived. After sitting down we were told the table was reserved, but we could go outside. Really? "Yes, it's someone who comes here often." Apparently the greeter hadn't gotten the message because there were no "RESERVED" signs at the table. After a raised eyebrow, we were told it was permissible to go ahead and be seated and wait for our guests to arrive. I would have liked to have ordered a drink, but we were never asked. On our guests arrival, we told the server we were celebrating birthdays of our guests. Not to secure a freebie, but to maybe have them at least mention it along the way. Our server, and I apologize if I can't remember her name made a big impression with the Dover Sole and raved about how it would presented tableside in a crust, then unwrapped to each. Yes, it was 60.00, but the presentation is really exceptional. Ok, well it was a birthday, so on her recommendation we ordered it. We had both eaten this before other places, so I knew what to expect for our guest. When our orders were brought to the table we were shocked to see the much anticipated fish laying naked on the plate. No special presentation, no hoopla. Honestly I couldn't tell you it looked or tasted different than an ordinary piece of baked fish from a local Luby's cafeteria. We asked the server why the presentation was not done, and she explained that the kitchen must have forgotten. My first response was why did they forget if this is a presentation piece? Is that the norm for the dish? Her response was, "I'll go speak to them". She did go talk to the head waiter. As we could see him from where we were, he was very dismissive about it. He didn't bother to come talk to us, I can only surmise we were too much trouble. Not wanting to make a scene in front of our guests, we apologized to them that the dish wasn't as ordered and finished our meal. We ordered deserts, but again no mention of birthdays. Again, I wasn't out for a freebie, but at least have the courtesy to mention it if only it was when we were leaving... The next day my daughter called to speak to them about the incident and was asked, "Well, did you have a reservation?" Yes, as a matter of fact we did. She gave them our name so they could verify what we had ordered. When she explained what had happened, he said, " All the sole is served like that, we don't do the presentation" and, "The server was mistaken". You know she didn't seem the least bit like she was making that up, I promise. That might have been acceptable had it been true, but she was also abruptly hung up on. Another follow up call was handled just the same. It must be their protocol to hang up on guests instead of handling problems. Just to note, he identified himself both times as the manager. We won't be going back to this restaurant again. There are many great restaurants in Dallas, many that do a better job. I'd advise you to search them out!

CONSISTENTLY ZEE BEST FRENCH FOOD IN ZEE CITY!

By jenniferteddlie |

I cannot say enough about the consistency of the dishes, service, and attention to detail at this place. I have eaten here about 50 times and I have never once had an issue. Maybe because Chef Jean Marie is usually there. If you call ahead, you can ask about him having the rabbit which is out of this world! If there is no rabbit, I get the duck and it is always perfect. The wine list is amazing! With dessert, try a shot of the chocolate flavored vodka, my French professeur who is over 80 years old gave me that tip and it is in fact quite tasty. It's fun to get the table by the kitchen so that you can hear the Chef ordering all of the people in the kitchen around!

Awesme food and service

By Eligio R |

This was a great time, atmosphere, service and food. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and very attentive. The chef came out to talk to us and see how we liked the food.

Great hosts and excellent food

By Traveller4578at |

Cadot is probably the best restaurant offering French cuisine in the whole Dallas area. I went there with a French colleague of mine and we spent there a great evening with great food, great service and true hosts (thanks you Jean-Marie and Gerrard!!)!!

Upscale French

By E.A2017 |

First time at this French Restaurant. The ambiance is soft back grounds music, with candles on the table. Excellent service and food very tasty and cooked to perfection . We had Salmon and a delicious salad. They have a very nice patio . They have a soloist playing music at the bar. Very nice place to bring a date or to impress someone.

Excellence and economy at Cadot's

By Steve H |

I love Cadot, and frankly, because it's close to home, my wife and I make it our go-to restaurant whenever we want a fine dining experience locally. The menu is amazing (French but leaning heavily toward Continental), the food is prepared expertly and consistently under Jean-Marie's professional and practiced guidance, and the ambience is warm and welcoming. Unless we're dining with another couple, my wife and I usually prefer to be seated in the bar area, where we can enjoy Karen's gracious service along with a full assortment of better wines by the glass. I don't know how anyone could complain about the price since we pay substantially more for less interesting fare at the better known fine dining establishments. From start to finish, Cadot's offers tremendous value compared to the $12 soup or salads, $15-18 appetizers and $35-50 steak or fresh fish entrees found elsewhere. And it's never the same old thing at Cadot's, with its classic dishes prepared in novel ways. If you try nothing else, I urge you to sample the tuna guacamole appetizer.

Better than most bistros in Paris

By TravelLikeaStar |

I had steak frites and escargot that were better than any I have had in Paris. The steak was so tender I couldn't believe it was flank steak and the French fries were better than paris. I also had escargot and it was served with fried spinach which was different and great the profiteroles were excellent and the beignets were better than you get in New Orleans

Great place for a private gathering

By MadGrendel |

I recently ate at Cadot for a gathering of about 20 people. We had the private room just off the patio, and it was a perfect venue. Ours is a very wine centric group, so we worked out with the restaurant ahead of time what wines we wanted in what order with each course, and the service was spot on. Over the course of five hours we had a six course meal that was well paced, well thought out, and outstanding. The room opened directly onto the patio, so after dinner those that wished to stay retired outside for cigars and drinks. I'm looking forward to returning for a regular meal, and if this experience was any indication it will be great.

Great atmosphere, food, and drinks

By Raymond J |

Some of the best bread in the area - crisp outer crust and soft inside. Every dish was impeccable, with one exception: we weren't thrilled with the escargot. The bartender makes some great cocktails and we had a couple of the house specials from the menu list. (Only one for me, I was driving!)

Flawless!

By Divya K |

We went for a special occasion of our friend's bday. The staff was friendly and even helped us with wine choice. We are ordered a lot of food and we all loved it! The food, service, drinks, ambience - everything was perfect ! At the end , even the chef came out and was checking with us about the food and service. That was cool!!! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and will definitely love to visit again!

There are better choices

By digideals |

Restaurant was okay, it was nice to see the owner there on a Saturday night. Our meal was a bit disappointing though. I've cooked steaks better, a lot better, than what we were served. There was also a huge party that night so getting our meals took quite a long time. Wine list could also be improved.

Great Food - Poor Service

By BellaFleur |

Dined here this past Thanksgiving. The restaurant was busy but no crazy and did have open tables. We had reservations and arrived on time. We were greeted very warmly upon arrival and seated quickly.....and there we sat and sat and sat. Twenty minutes to thirty minutes and I finally was able to flag down a waiter and ask who our waiter was. He rolled his eyes and said he was busy with other tables and he would check. He came back a few minutes later and asked what we wanted. He took our drink order, meal and dessert order all at once. It was a limited menu because of the holiday so there was a choice of soup or salad, 3 entrees, salmon, hanger steak and turkey and about 4 typical desserts. The three of us - adults, no children - we each ordered something different so we had a good sampling of the food. The food was delicious but we felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable because of the server. As I said, there were 3 of us, limited menu and we had one bottle of $32 wine. The bill was $178. Due to the service issues, and for that price - we would never return or recommend to anyone.

Great food with a nice French touch

By Romain T |

My family and I really enjoy going to Cadot. We have been there few times already, both for lunch and dinner. Food is really great. A real taste of France in your plate.

Great French food in North Dallas

By TexasOjo |

We had not been back to Cadot for too long. It was fantastic and better than we had remembered. Plan on $50-100/person depending on your wine selection and how much of the good stuff you drink.

Good ambience

By RSM |

I like Cadot for the lovely patio and attention to their food. Service was a bit slow but all else was wonderful

Consistently excellent over the years

By Jean S |

My husband and I have been to Cadot's about twice a year for several years now. The experience has been consistently excellent each and every time, including tonight. Absolutely top notch service of the kind one would expect from a $$$$ restaurant makes or breaks the dining experience for me. There is none consistently better than you find at Cadot. The longevity of the staff speaks to their dedication. From the phone call to make our reservation, to the moment we walked through the door, to the very end of our meal, the staff was attentive, entirely professional and knowledgeable, and gracious. Thank you all! For my husband, it is all about the food. We've tried many of the dishes on the menu (and a few of the weekly specials), and have not been disappointed a single time. Every dish has been expertly prepared, beautifully and appetizingly presented, and flavorful with balance. Tonight we accompanied our dishes with glasses of a red and a white Bordeaux (Chateau Caillou) that went beautifully with the duck and veal scallopini. When we made our reservation this time, we let the staff know we'd be ordering the cheese plate for dessert, hoping for some creative options. Frankly, I expected that detail to be lost. What a surprise when our server (Daisy?) came by after our dinner plates had been removed to discuss what cheeses we'd like. The five options were not the usual emmenthaler or other French cooking cheeses. We selected three, one of which I had never heard of, and all were excellent. Lovely! And they were served at nearly room temperature. Double lovely! Thanks, Chef Cadot, for all you do. We appreciate the results.

Excellent

By Tastefullycoco - The Simple Treasures |

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Cadot. The food and service was wonderful. The waitstaff very attentive! I ordered the rabbit and it was divine with a rich brown gravy that perfectly complemented the pappardelle pasta. Our server offered several drink and dining suggestions that complemented our meal nicely.

Always Wonderful

By Margaret L |

I've been a fan of this place since they opened three years ago. Wonderful food with professional service. Don't be surprised if the chef stops by to ask about your meal. Chef Cadot treats diners as if they are visiting his home for a meal.

Excellent French Cuisine with great service and romantic atmosphere

By Phoebe1944 |

I can't wait to return for another visit to this lovely restaurant. The atmosphere is perfect for an intimate dinner for two or a time with friends enjoying excellent service and expertly prepared food. The wine selection, menu choices, and waiter service which was not intrusive and yet expertly efficient was a highlight!

Revisit

By BobQuortrup |

Had one of the best steak experiences. Filet was cooked to perfection. Very tender(almost fork tender) with bits of fois gras melting on top(have no problem with the cosumption of duck fat) enhancing the flavor. The potatos had a wonderful brown crust and almost a buttery flavor. Delicious. The starter Caesar salad did not disappoint as well. Finished the meal with a fantastic Lava Cake which was served warm with a hot chocolate center. Our server, Benjamin, was knowledgable and attentive and made our dining experience fanatastic. Can't wait to come back.

A taste of France in Dallas

The appetizers are delicious, the entree was spectacular and the watermelon salad added a unique delicious touch to the meal. Definitely will come back!

Highly Recommend-Good Luck Selecting What to Order!

By Diver-Hiker |

We were there for dinner on a Saturday night, reservation was for 6:00. We love French food, and were very impressed by the menu selection. It was a tough decision. I had the terrine appetizer, and she had the mushroom brie soup. Both were excellent. For entree I had the sweetbreads and she had the shortrib. Again, both were fantastic. She had the chocolate souffle and I had the apple tart. Everything was to perfection, including the service, wine, and our predinner cocktails. It says a lot for a restaurant when so many choices were incredible. We hope to return.

"Neighborhood" not "Downtown NYC, Chicago or Paris"

By FamilyMan1963 |

Cadot is very good. Everything was cooked in our party of 4 -- perfectly. You will not find a line of sous chefs in this restaurant with an uninvolved "overseeing" chef. The chef clearly actually cooks. For this reason, everything will arrive as it should. We went for Mother's Day. Due to a physical condition, I called to say we would be 30 minutes late or would they prefer we cancel and come some other time. I knew they would be wanting to seat others with reservations as well, and could understand if we should cancel. They enthusiastically told us to come on, and we were warmly greeted upon arrival. Their generosity was much appreciated. The creme brulee is amongst the best I've ever had and generous in portion. The chocolate "cake" was excellent. The petit fliet was perfectly medium and medium well as both were ordered. The fett alfredo w/ chicken had a wee bit too much garlic for youngsters, but was excellent. The hericot vert was superb -- a side dish that's hard to make "excellent". The pommes frit were lovely. The price was very reasonable at $50 per adult and around $18 per child for the prix fixe menu on this special occasion (they're not usually open on Sunday but did so just for Mother's Day). Reading some other reviews, I think the few naysayers are expecting $100 per person meal at a $50-60 pp restaurant. It's excellent. What's it's not is over-the-top. It doesn't pretend to be, and expectations should be for authentic, excellent, classic French in a comfortable neighborhood setting. The meal was $150 for 2 adults and 2 children; we spent $65 on a bottle of wine, $28 on extra deserts to sample, and $11 on a cocktail and cokes. All very reasonable at $250 + $50 tip. You have to keep in mind the food portion of the meal at $170 for 4 people was utterly reasonable and right-priced for the quality. If you were in New York or Chicago, you'd expect an extra $200 on the bill and yes, then you would get more flames flying, fancy something en croute with little designs made in puff pastry, and a host of $15-20 decadent desserts. Cadot isn't trying to be that restaurant. They're the really good French restaurant you enjoy going to several times per year or even once a month because it's excellent, comfortable, right-priced, and down the street. Another testament to the ease of this place: there were 4 kids under 10 years old, 3 infants, 2 people in motorized "can't walk" chairs, 3 walkers stored for customers in the corner, 2 canes, a girl who looked like her short-shorts and top belonged next to a pool (not at a restaurant), men in suits coming from Church, a couple of men in bermuda shorts but most in nice slacks and linen shirts....my take away is that this experience appeals to nearly everybody. They deserve their very good-to-excellent rating. It was a pleasure.

Loved this little French Place

By CristiMM |

My husband and I went for Valentine's Day, so it was a prix fixe menu. We enjoyed it all, each food selection was absolutely delicious. We loved the ambiance as well. I think this is probably the most romantic restaurant I have been to in DFW.

Wonderful Dinner

By Mary R |

We had the best French food we have had in a long time. The food was delicious (I had veal with lemon capers) which was outstanding. I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone who wants a very special dining experience.

Great service, good food, expected more...

By avvpine |

We had a pre-Valentine's date at Cadot and I would rate this with 3.5 stars if I could. We were greeted at the door, our waiter was very helpful and offered recommendations on the menu and the Chef came to talk to us at the end of our meal... Now, the food. I ordered the pecan crusted fish (snapper?) which turned out to be bland, the most remarkable thing was the asparagus bed. My husband ordered one of the specials: the boar! it was the first time we both had this meat, very nice. The meat was cooked thoroughly and was very soft and tasty. They offer a good selection of wines. We had to send back a bottle since it was corked, not until we asked our server to take it back he mentioned the whole case had turned out to be like that... really??? then why do you keep serving it? he then proceeded to recommend one of the most expensive bottles on the menu which we kindly rejected and made a different choice. Overall, the atmosphere is nice, the service was very good but the food quality ranged from average to very good....

Delicious Food, off night for service

By John J |

Food was excellent for the most part. Mussels were perfectly prepared and very flavorful. Easily enough for 2-3 people. The bread was perfect as always with sweet creamy butter - crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside as French bread should be. Unfortunately for us, we had 2 baskets! Entrees were the trout - very fresh and delicious and the beef bourguignon with home made pasta. The sauce and pasta were outstanding, but the beef a little tough and grisly. For dessert we shared the profiterolles, which were good, but not as good as the desserts we have had on past visits. Good wine and cocktail options at reasonable prices. When we arrived with a reservation, we were disappointed the hostess took us to probably the worst table they have inside. She agreed to change when asked, but come on. I could see seating us there without a reservation, but that was not the case. There were tons of open tables in much better locations. After seating, service was noticeably very slow at first. It took forever it seemed to order a cocktail and wine, and then another long wait for them to arrive. It was early on a Saturday, so not sure why the delays as it was not busy yet. Attentiveness improved after we ordered, but hoping that our next visit will be better

Good food; extremely poor service

By Lyndal B |

Have eaten here numerous times with positive experiences, however, on this visit the service was remarkably substandard. Waiter appeared to be overly occupied with something else. For example, we asked for coffee with dessert but it never came until AFTER dessert was finished Made for a disappointing experience.

Average Christmas Eve Meal and Service

By Magictravelnow |

They are just trying too hard. You could feel the stress with over 200 clients which I know is not easy to prepare for or serve. They did their best but no one smiled, they were taking people's chairs away from their tables as we looked around you could see the look on people's faces when the young lady who was seating them took them to the wrong table and truly did not have a clue. It felt like all they cared about was the money...no special anything.... I realize this is much like Valentine's Day but they are in the restaurant business after all for many years so it should have been a much happier and pleasant experience with people smiling and having fun and not being so serious.

France in Texas

By Steve P |

Lovely restaurant with excellent dishes, Fois Gras to start with Duck Confit egg rolls. Gnocchi are like pillows of love they are so lite. I had the rack of lamb and it was perfect i was also sure to order the soufflé at the start but we also had to share the lightest Beignets with 3 sauces. if your in Texas you should go to this restaurant .

Ten Star Review, excellent!

By Jean H |

Wow! Fantastic food! Having lived in France and travelled internationally this restaurant is an absolute gem. The chef Jean Pierre knows how to create superb gastronomical delights. Each course was divine but how happy we were to have tasted the Grand Marnier Soufflé desert which was as light as a feather and melted on the lips. If we were staying in Dallass longer this would be the place to return to. Service was excellent. I can't praise this restaurant highly enough. It's worth a ten star review. Fantastic!

Service needs to improve

By jittus2015 |

It took 20 minutes to get the password for wi-fi. Seating was available immediately and the order taken promptly. It is after that the wait started- 40 minutes ?? I think they need help in the kitchen. However, the food once served was delicious. Variety offered is vast. Food quality and flavor is outstanding. Prices are high - say about $ 25 /person , all told.

Best French in town

By csoeda |

Had dinner several times and always enjoy food and atmosphere. Classic french food such as onion soup, escargot, foie gras and duck confit are must have. Friendly service staff greets you well and owner and chef Jean-Marie Cadot visit our table with smile. If your kids stay quiet, enjoy food and ambience with parents, dress up and go!

My Favorite French Restaurant in Dallas Area

By Magictravelnow |

Jean Pierre Cadot has created the most authentic, beautiful yet casual restaurant in Dallas. The atmosphere is charming with many dining rooms to make it feel like you are in his home in France. The food is divine and I have eaten here many times from New Year's, to a casual lunch or a classy dinner. They make you feel instantly at home and part of their extended family. They will go out of their way to make sure you are very happy and leave totally inspired. The wait staff is fantastic and are there to actually serve you and to make you happy. I often go solo since some of my friends do not like French food but they offer many other choices to suit whatever mood you are in and have an incredible wine list. I must say Jean Pierre goes to great length to ensure he has the finest beef and seafood in town. Not to mention all of the other fresh organic ingredients. It is rare to have it all but Cadot does from the experience on their web site to the actual experience. You will not be disappointed.

overpriced

By Roger F |

I really wanted to like this place. But, they are very expensive and they cut corners on quality. Who brags about a family history of baking and serves the bread with margarine? The food was good but nothing spectacular. Portions were small even according to the light eaters in the group. Dessert was a cup of strawberries with whipped cream or a cream puff with ice cream. For the price I expected so much more.

Hit and Miss - spotty service

By Greenvilledan |

We had eaten here once before, asked for a quiet table and enjoyed the food and the service. This time we were placed in a large room squeezed together with others. Many times the servers would bump into the back of my chair as the walked by. That was how cramped it was. Our server was Ramon. Very nice and friendly. We asked for bread, he said it would be right out...they wanted to make sure it was fresh from the oven. We ordered our food. Twenty minutes later, when our appetizers came, we were starving and still waiting on our bread. Of course the bread was brought out immediately. My Brie and mushroom soup was wonderful! My wife ordered the crispy calamari which was served in thick slices, it was tasty but not crispy. My wife ordered a second glass of wine which took at least 15 minutes to get to the table. We split a nice Ceasar salad. She had the duck which was delicious. At Ramon’s suggestion I had filet mignon which had a nice sauce, but the steak was average. I was very disappointed to pay that much money for average steak.

Class Act & Delicious

By Mark M |

I told my Dallas friends that I'd like to dine someplace that locals love and tourists are unaware of. They chose Cadot. The ambiance is first class and the food was outstanding, as was the service! The scallops over truffle risotto was incredible and the Grand Marnier Souffle was even better. Great for friends, couples and business.

Can't Wait to Go Back!

By michael c |

Went for a business meeting/happy hour and ended up staying for dinner. So glad we did. The food was fabulous! Summer 2024 has been a string of major restaurant disappointments with horrible service and overpriced mediocre to just plain bad food! Not the case at Cadot. We struggled deciding between their summer specials and the traditional menu, so we started with a soup from each: a cup of cold vichyssoise and warm mushroom bisque. Yes, it was August and 101 degrees, but our server Mia highly recommended both which were spot on. So much flavor was extracted from the freshness of the ingredients that were handled with proper care. We followed with mussels from the dinner special. They were the best we've had since Belgium. Mia our server was friendly and attentive without being solicitous. Gerard, one of the partners, visited us to make sure all was in order and Chef Cadot delivered the most amazing pomme frites that I will dream about for days. He also recommended the perfect Muscadet wine pairing that complimented the Pernod and garlic in the mussels. A perfect light meal for a hot summer evening. We left happy and sated without feeling heavy nor our bank accounts drained. Can not wait to go back!

💗 French Wine, Filet, Dover & Soufflé

By Lynn_Lyon |

I searched for a restaurant for a romantic date and we loved Cadot. There are smaller rooms so it feels more intimate than some of the bigger loud restaurants. Everyone was friendly - the hosts who selected a table where we could sit by side, the waiter who made excellent recommendations for dinner and wine & the chef who came out to see us too. The Dover sole is their signature seafood dish. It was delicious with sautéed green beans & asparagus. The filet with pepper cognac was prepared perfectly. We had a very nice bottle of reasonably priced French wine decanted. We split a heavenly chocolate soufflé for dessert. It was a lovely romantic dinner. 💗

EXCELLENT CUISINE, PERSONAL ATTENTION

By TheLearnedDoctor |

This was our first time dining at Cadot. We brought our own wine, which they were happy to serve us with a corkage charge. The restaurant is clean and pretty. It has a Califonia look to it ... light wood tones and cream/white walls. The first thing I noticed was that the menu is HUGE for a French restaurant. The daily specials are almost enough to fill up a normal French restaurant menu. There are choices for diners of all tastes on the menu. The escargot were awesome, the sauce was exceptional. We asked for a special request, a pasta appetizer not on the menu, and Chef Cadot obliged, It was also great. We had a cheese plate (from the dessert menu) with our wine ... it was very European in that several of the cheeses were more "mature" than most Americans would prefer. We liked it, but we both prefer cheese plates we have had at a couple other local restaurants, so I wouldn't recommend that specific dish. For main courses we had scallops and sea bass. Both were fantastic. After our meal, Chef Cadot came out of the kitchen to greet us. We spoke to him for 10 minutes. He loves what he does, and it shows. Our dining experience was perfect from start to finish. Give Cadot a try, there is something for everyone on the menu.

Great traditional European fine dining

By Tal R |

If you're looking for a cutting-edge/celebrity-chef-throwdown/unrecognizable-menu-offerings kind of restaurant, Cadot is probably not for you. But if you desire an evening of nice, quiet European-style dining, in a lovely setting with wonderful traditional French fare (with a bit of Spanish and Italian thrown in for good measure) with great wines and desserts, this is your place. Think of it as your go-to special-occasion place...or your own little neighborhood spot; either way you can't go wrong. Chef/owner Jean-Marie Cadot knows how to do it--and do it right!

Always Amazing Food

By MikeyMackTravels |

This has to be one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. We have been here several times and the food and service is always amazing. It has never disappointed. Note: the bread is outstanding as well....save plenty of room. Service here is great and all the employees are very, very nice. Top notch all the way around!!!!

Wonderful as always!

By BlueWaterBill |

We were celebrating a 16th birthday and Cadot came through as usual. The food, atmosphere and service is the best. We even discussed the quite elegance of the restaurant and how you could carry on a conversation!

Excellent French

By Tim D |

Great food in a relaxed atmosphere yet classy. My wife and I have tried many menu items and have never been disappointed. The calamari appetizer is worth the visit. Waitstaff is very attentive. The chef is the owner and comes out to greet and meet on occasion. Great restaurant!!

In Dallas on business

Rocky start...

By Jerri G |

We arrived at 6:30 for the pre-theater menu. We were initially offered the first table by the entrance. Since the restaurant was almost empty, I asked for a table away from the entrance. The hostess asked someone and then escorted us to a table further back. No sooner had we been seated, water poured, the pre-theater menu requested, the waiter indicated we were not at the right table. He seemed to be expecting someone or something else??!! He then consulted with another person and after much commotion, and more "backroom" talking, they put the special menu back down in front of us and said it was ok. After the wine was brought out, the waiter proceeded to take my order so I began to order my three courses and as I proceeded to say, for my appetizer I would like.... the waiter blurted out very rudely "you must order all three courses at once!".. I was very startled and surprised by his outburst. But, thank goodness my calamari was crispy and delicious and the bibb salad also wonderful as a starter. We both had the veal which was yummy though a little heavy on the butter, and we each enjoyed the profiteroles. PLEASE IMPROVE THE COFFEE!! For the stature of your restaurant, you should offer freshly brewed coffee, and mine tasted old and stale. I left it all in the cup. So, not the stellar visit we had before. Funny how the waiter can make all the difference to fine dining.

Quality cuisine in North Dallas

By Vancouver1964 |

I went here for the first time with a friend for his birthday dinner under the recommendation of some good friends who are regulars. We were not disappointed. The food is fresh, prepared and cooked perfectly, with amazing sauces. Spending a lot of time in Paris - this is the real deal. Elegant without being stuffy. Plan on $ 50/person for dinner with drinks/wine but worth it for this level of quality. Highly recommended.

Exquisite!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch during restaurant week in this lovely restaurant. Loved the decor, enjoyed all the courses, great service!

Lovely Lunch with Ladies

By Minetta S |

We held a working meeting there. We were in a separate room which allowed us to talk and make our plans without disturbing other diners. The waiter was very attentive but not intrusive. I had the bib lettuce salad with chicken breast and it was delicious. Several had the crab cake and I think I will try that next time. Beignets were ordered for the table. Delicious with 3 different dipping sauces. I plan of returning to this delightful quiet restaurant.

We went the first time to Cadot. The service was great and the waiter was excellent. The food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. Atmosphere was elegant.

It doesn't get any better than this!

By jenniferteddlie |

Chef Jean-Marie is absolutely the greatest French chef that ever lived. We eat here once a month and are never disappointed. The greatest thing about dining at Cadot is that it takes the entire evening, you are never hurried or rushed. The patio is super and is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. My favorite dishes are the rotisserie Duck and the ribeye. The best steak in the city is at Cadot. Short of a trip to Paris, this is as authentic as it gets.

Nice Atmosphere, Good Service

By CDM49 |

Maybe on another day we would have enjoyed it more, this was Thanksgiving and the food for the most part was a let down. For starters the soup and salad were very good, however the main course was not as good as expected. There were only two small slices of sweet potato, a few green beans, dressing and turkey/gravy. The dressing had an odd taste/spices and the gravy was almost water. For dessert the pumpkin panna cotta was very good, but the apple tart was over cooked, hard and burnt on the bottom. The French Baguette Bread was excellent. Our waitress Annie provided good friendly service and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Since the restaurant is located in a strip mall there is plenty of free parking available. Maybe next time in town we will come back for another try.

One of the Excellent french restaurants in Dallas.

By Azim Merali |

The moules Frites are delish. Great wine list. The restaurant is very intimate and they have the Best patio for lunchtime. Pricey, a little foofy.

Wonderful souffles

By martydmauch |

We had a birthday celebration and decided instead of birthday cake to go to this French restaurant for dessert souffles. You could choose from chocolate, Gran Marnier, or raspberry. While I would have thought my favorite would be the chocolate, the raspberry was sooo delicious. I also favored the Gran Marnier; it was delicious! Souffles take some time to prepare and bake so plan for that. We actually called ahead so they could begin before we even got there. I was asked to pay by card over the phone. I will go back to taste the French cuisine some day. The souffles are definitely worth a visit. You'll want more. They were $12 each.

We went for our daughter's 29th birthday. The food was amazing. We started with mushroom brie soup. It was delicious. The flounder and risotto was terrific. We all cleaned our plates! The chocolate souffle was to die for! Excellent!!!

Great find!!

Stopped here on a whim after being caught in traffic. What a gem!! Food fabulous, service outstanding, nice wine list!!

Special treat for birthday!

Wonderful birthday dinner at Cadot! It was our 1st time in this restaurant. It is a bit expensive. But we will be back for special occasions.

Wonderful small French Restauramt

By bah499 |

My first visit to the lovely small French Restaurant in big D. The food was excellent as was the service. Bibb lettuce with granny smith apples, candied walnuts, Roquefort, mustard vinaigrette . perfect not to much dressing to drown the lettace. Main course was Salmon filet with spinach, oyster mushrooms, lemon thyme sauce, salmon so moist. And the best for last Opera cake - almond sponge cake layered with coffee butter cream, Chocolate ganache ... Wonderful evening. Opened in May 2009, Cadot Restaurant offers the best of Chef Jean-Marie Cadot Chef Jean-Marie Cadot

Simply perfect

By Jon S |

We have dined here many times. It is a favorite of ours. And excellent dinner restaurant for a superb and romantic meal. We've never been disappointed in any way. Service, food, decor, everything is top notch and the menu is always evolving with new and wonderful dishes. This is a chef owned restaurant that takes striving for perfection very seriously. I highly recommend it.

Great French Food.

Great French Food. Best in north Dallas. Lamb chops were delicious. Like the ambience. Look forward to going back.

Had a terrific dinner at Cadot. The wine was great, the food was excellent. Lobster bisque was perfect. The filet and home made fries were also just great. And desert - nothing can describe it but wonderful. A great place to go and just have a relaxed terrific meal.

Terrific food and service

Best French Restaurant in Dallas

By CBlack3 |

Cadot is absolutely the best French restaurant in Dallas. To dine at Cadot is like dining in Paris! A great French restaurant always has great bread. The owner is French and his bread reminds you of a Paris patiisserie! The salads are large, tasty and fresh. Every course is beautiful and well presented on warm plates. Jean-Marie Cadot is both the owner & head chef. Every menu is created and designed as if you would find the same in Paris. The main courses are outstandingly perfect. We have enjoyed three meals at this restaurant. The fish was cooked perfectly and complemented by a delightful sauce. The veal was smooth and so tender you could cut it with the edge of a fork. The waiters are friendly and timely. We had plenty of time to enjoy each course. No noise problem at Cadot; you can enjoy dining and talking here. The pièce de résistance was mini dessert beignets with three sauces! Hot... warm and dunked in chocolate....unbelievably good! Cadot has a nice selection of wine and cocktails. The bartender is fun to talk to; we would return for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Meet Chef Cadot and his lovely wife, they bring Paris to Dallas.

Good and varied menu

By NaturalizedTexan |

The Restaurant lived up to its reviews. It was very good and just a notch below some of the high-end restaurants like Fearings. I gave it a four stars because I thought it should be judged against the top restaurants. The bread was excellent and flatiron steak was flavorful. The salmon was prepared well, not overcooked or too dry. The french onion soup was oustanding. If you like spicy drinks, the jalapeno martini is the was to go. We will definitely go back on special ooccasions.

Very enjoyable evening

By joann09134 |

When there for my 30th wedding anniversary on Monday night. Service was very attentive, but not overbearing. Souffle was the best I have EVERY had and I have had quite a few. I had pecan crusted sea bass on a bed of pureed squash with white leek sauce-Yummy~ My husband had the sole which was also excellent. They cooked it and brought it to the table for his approval before taking it back to the kitchen to filet it. Impressive! We were served complementary champagne. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and it was worth EVERY dollar. Have spent more on less enjoyable meals. Just wish we lived closer so we could go more often.

Retired Guys Lunch

By Hidrfoot01 |

^ of us met at Cadot for lunch. We had a great time together over lunch. I had the tuna nicoise said. It was excellent. Fresh tuna cooked to order medium rare with hard boiled eggs, potatoes green beans and greens. The balsamic dressing was very light & tasty. The others had a chicken sandwich and a burger. All said they would return. What made it even better was when the owner chef came out from the kitchen twice to talk with all of us. This is a neighborhood restaurant that has excellent quality, established 10 years and a great atmosphere.

Bastille Day Special Menu

By Jerri G |

Bastille 3 day menu for 2 couples! Great Portuguese waiter made our dining that much more fun. Appetizers of duck pate and tomato watermelon salad delighted our palates. Coq au vin, pepper steak, flounder almondine and off the menu soft shell crab were all artfully presented.I've enclosed photos of most. I tasted them all and loved the chicken and crab the best! We had 2 bottles of Larose Trintaudon 2009 Haute Medoc. Excellent wine!

VRAIMENT INCROYABLE (truly incredible)!

By SacAnnie |

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever enjoyed. Each day the charming owner, the eponymous Jean-Marie Cadot, offers warm hospitality and amazing cuisine to his happy guests. Part of a long family tradition dating back to the mid-1700’s, Monsieur Cadot takes enormous familial pride in preparing fresh, interesting and absolutely flawless offerings. Fyi... when you visit, be sure to check out the wonderful artwork on the walls— lovingly painted by the owner’s very talented mother! It’s a shame that these items are not offered for sale because they are as remarkable as the food upon which they gaze. While located in an unassuming strip mall, the restaurant’s varied menu – at both lunch and dinner – will leave you wanting to come back. (We ate both dinner and the following lunch here, so delighted were we with the service and food.) I enjoyed the best crabcake I have ever had and the sauce to go with my entrée was so good I truly considered cleaning the plate with more bread. (The bread is baked right here and the butter is of fresh, pure cream.) Every single detail of the meal is perfection. :. I would highly recommend that anybody visiting Dallas include this as a stop on their trip. It is absolutely worth the drive. ALLONS-Y (go here)!

Excellent

By Bill W |

My filet was prepared just as ordered and was excellent as ere the sides. My wife had something veggie. I highly recommend this place.

Expensive for just OK food

By SelaOne |

Food is not bad but does not justify the high-end prices. Decent wine selection. Place is a bit pretentious and looks like quality depends on the menu item. Coq au vin was pretty good and so was the mushroom soup. However, escargot was so-so and I've had better fish for half the price in chain restaurants.

So Nice to Return to Fine, French Fare!

By Jerri G |

My husband received a gift certificate for his birthday and we made good use of it. We started with a lovely French bordeaux, which paired nicely with the duck terrine. We also shared the salad with the goat cheese, which was delicious. We had 2 entree specials, the osso buco, and the paella. Each was cooked perfectly and we were very satisfied. I gave chef Jean-Marie a big thank you hug on the way out.

Loved this place !

By Judith C |

My husband and I ate here while visiting our son. We shared a delicious pâté and my short rib dish was tender and excellent. We loved the service and best of all was talking to the chef! He was so friendly and his french accent added to his charm! We ordered the grand mariner soufflé which was suggested by trip advisor reviews and they were right!!

Surprisingly Affordable for Lunch

By ECDryere |

This is one of those restaurants where everything tastes just a little bit better; even their Iced Tea stands out. It's quickly become one of our top go-to options for lunch over the past couple of months. While there are a bit pricier options, the lunch menu is full of delicious plates for under $10. I recommend the Portobello Ciabatta sandwich and the Grilled Chicken, Apples, Candied Walnuts, and Roquefort Cheese on Bibb Lettuce Salad. There coffee is also excellent, smooth and bold. But whatever you do, don't miss out on desert! The beignets are light and full of flavor, the apple tart is wonderfully balanced, and the profiterols pack a decadent punch! They are all amongst my favorite confections in Dallas.

Always Excellent

By Richard R |

Took my elderly, very picky mother, she is 91. first waiter was busy and curt, the second guy was fantastic, very attentive and helpful. tomato bisque soup excellent. Very nice formal atmosphere in North Dallas. A little pricy but good french food.

Fine dining!

By J B |

Excellent food. Nice facility. Convenient with ample parking. The chef/owner frequents the tables to insure satisfaction.

both service and food not up to par

By nat1225 |

We were here with a large group but we had a reservation and they knew the size of the group. Service was slow and inconsistant. My wife ordered Ahi tuna salad and specifically said that she wanted the tuna well done. Yes this is unusual for that preparation but that is how she likes it. It came rare of course and by the time it came back everyone had finished eating. We had eaten here before but but it will be a long time until we return.

It doesn't get much better than Cadot's, on either side of the ocean

By Russell R |

Cadots is the delightful French restaurant of Jean-Marie Cadot and it's our "go-to" place for almost any special occasion as well as just a delightful and delicious meal with or without friends. The restaurant is very pretty and European in feel, almost like it just came out of France or Switzerland. It is both social and intimate, depending on the occasion and the dinner companions. The food and service are unsurpassed, and there is lots on the wine list to explore. Best of all, you can actually converse with your table, an aspect lost in most of Dallas' deafening din restaurants that mistake being overwhelmed by noise with creating a "vibrant feel". There is nothing "vibrant feel" about having to converse with your table guests in sign language. Towards the end of the evening Jean-Marie will invariably wander around and stop by the tables and it lends the personal and welcoming touch that the ambiance, the food and the service establish so well. Go try it, you'll be pleased you did. From menu regulars to specials such as rabbit leg to soft shell crab, it's a dining delight. It is not inexpensive, but worth every morsel and mouthful.

Most Excellent in all areas.

By JParlante |

I just enjoyed a most excellent meal and service from Cadot's Restaurant. The feel of France surrounds you. The entree selection covers everyone's tastes. Every plate left the table after dinner without a crumb of food left! Excellent menu, serving and food. Very well done Cadot!

Excellent Food; poor service

By Scott J |

Our weekly date night and I had a craving for French authentic. Having been to France many times, we love southern style French cuisine. This was our 1st trip to Cadot here in north Dallas. Although not a typical French menu, we found some things that sounded good. My wife ordered a key lime martini which was actually sweet and perfect for her. I ordered a glass of wine from their unfortunately limited by the glass menu. I had the duck and my wife had the tilapia with risotto. For appetizer we ordered the calamari which is prepared from calamari steak. Totally fantastic; everything. We shared a crème brulee- good too. Although we did not find the restaurant pretentious, we agree the service was just horrible. When I left a standard 20% gratuity, my wife complained- but I feel guilty if I don't. However, the service was not deserving of any amount of tip. Very disappointing in an upscale restaurant. Excellent food and we will return- hopefully we will have a different waiter. The chef/owner is a very pleasant person. Maybe some of that will rub off on the people taking care of his clientele. A two party table deserves a certain amount of attention as well.

Revisit

By BobQuortrup |

Came back to Cadot last weekend and we had one of the best meals. Started with the Mussels Marinier. Very fresh and flavorful with a white cream sauce made for bread dipping. The sweet breads were sauted crispy with thin potato straws. Some of the best I have had. The scallops were cooked perfectly, served with linguini. Wanted more than the four that were served. The highlight of the meal were the beignets served for desert, very light, pillowy, dusted with fine sugar. They were served with three dipping sauces, one being an outstanding chocalate sauce. So good. Our server, Shalysee, provided outstanding and attentive service. Made our dining experience very special

Outstanding French

By DBLJAM |

A very quaint hidden restaurant. The service and atmosphere were great. its was just a couples night out and we had a blast dining for hours. Traditional french in a multi-course format. the wine selections were perfect as the dishes.

Pre Valentines Day dinner

By garfield2009 |

We got off to a rocky start. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. However, no one approached our table for approximately 10 minutes except for the bus boy who poured water. Another table (5) people were seated after us but a server approached them to take drink orders etc. I finally grabbed the hostess who was passing through and mentioned the situation to her. It was quickly corrected. The food was excellent, however, $60 for Dover sole was a bit over the top. My dining partner thoroughly enjoyed the duck. Grand Mariner soufflé was exquisite. Service after the initial gaffe was on point as was the food. I would definitely go back.

👍 Fabulous Dinner

By CDM49 |

Without a doubt one of our favorite restaurants when in town. Staff friendly, helpful and efficient. Atmosphere pleasant romantic with dress business casual. Great for a date night. Although location is in a strip mall this French Restaurant family goes out of its way to please. The food was delicious and portions were decent size with nice presentation. Parking is free in the mall parking lot. Prices are reasonable for the service and quality. Most definitely recommend but be sure to have a reservation on the weekend.

Prom night

By Ryan S |

We had no idea it was prom night, but so much fun watching the high school kids all dressed up with their dates. Dining were my husband, a dear friend, and myself. It was our friend's first time & a retuning visit for us. You must ask for Benjamin Bach to be your waiter. We explain we wanted a French leisurely dinner, as if we were in France. It's exactly what we received. We essentially let him order for us: lentil soup, beet salad, each of us had one of the specials (sole, peppered filet, chicken) Cocktails were superb, his wine select was excellent, dessert was French Connection which he flamed at the table to warm the cognac & the snifter to give a heavenly bouquet, free flutes of champagne & finally, cappuccino. Beautiful evening, dinner lasted 3 hours - felt like we were back in Europe. Oh, the accordionist played at each table & he was awesome. A night to remember.

One wonderful Parisian experience. Neighborhood gem

By Henry |

First impression: friendly greeting by the host, nice decor, busy but not hectic, roomy seating arrangements, some Parisian feel Food presentation, taste, quality: our dishes were artfully presented. All were tasty and of great quality. Price point: the menu had dishes of all pricing system. Service: I would say average. The servers appeared to be the type that have served for a very long time or worked there for a very long time. They were prompt, but not too warm. Ambiance: romantic, fun, adult oriented, and the man playing French music on the accordion made it that much better.

Just okay

By Amy C |

My husband and I had dinner here the Friday night prior to Valentine's Day with two other couples. I have to say, I was fairly disappointed. The service was slow and sloppy with absolutely none of the finesse you would expect in this type of establishment and the food was just okay. I do not mind spending $$$$ for a meal, but I do expect to have service and food that match that price point. I will not be back.

Great French Restaurant

By SDNEUNER |

The food and service are excellent, nice romantic setting, but also a great place to have a business lunch. The Chef Jean-Marie makes sure every dish is perfectly prepared and is a wonderful host.

Always delicious, top-notch gourmet meals!

By Valerie K |

This is not the first time I've eaten at Cadot's but when I'm wanting elegant, tasteful food, this is where I land. They have never disappointed. I love that I can count on the food to always be presented beautifully and taste amazing. There are menu specials that are creative. Last night I had an appetizer of warm venison pate wrapped in a beautiful pastry, followed by halibut in a crispy crepe with asparagus in champagne sauce. Both were excellent! Their selections include fish, various meats and vegetarian choices. What makes them more delightful is that they are quite willing to make adjustments to the selections for dietary needs. Cadot's also has a wonderful outdoor covered patio that has misters and fans in the summer and heaters in the winter. Jean-Marie has created a wonderful venue for excellent cuisine!

Very French

By czmdivenut |

Nice place setup very nicely with small rooms rather than a large open space. Good food. Had the dover sole - whole fish sauteed then deboned - very tasty. Preceded by a small wedge salad covered with blue cheese and a drizzle of balsamic. Dessert was a chocolate souffle - extremely good.

Excellent French Affair

By Thelmo T |

My family enjoyed the overall experience. The ambiance is just OK, but the food is fabulous. The service was just right although not outstanding, overall I will recommend this restaurant for everyone looking for excellent french food.

Delightful French Food

By H2sMom |

This is a more dimly lit spot with everyone speaking in reserved tones. In front, there's an awning to cover you as you walk out to your car if it's raining. In the summer, they have the misters going on the patio as well. The menu is pages and pages of wonderful looking dishes! They offer caviar on toast points as well. I had the veal scallopini with green beans and my friend had a scallop and shrimp dish. They were both divine. Dinner was $25 per person and $11 for a glass of wine. They offered us a chocolate souffle with Grand Marnier, but we resisted although it sounded very tempting. The waiter always waited for our conversation to come to a stopping point before speaking. Water glasses were typically full. It was a nice meal, There was a table full of older guests celebrating one couple's anniversary and they seemed to be having a good time as well.

Exceeds its reputation

By Ciara A |

It was wonderful. The wait staff was kind and helpful. Food was delicious. I felt bad showing up not dressed very nicely, but the staff didn't seem to notice. Please go and enjoy the food!

Great French Onion Soup

By HNBISOFF |

Cadot’s french onion soup was one of the best that I have eaten. The sandwiches were also very good and plentiful. A great place for lunch or dinner.

Consistently great

By bgou |

Always enjoy going to Cadot when I am in Dallas. The food is universally solid and it is a comfortable atmosphere without being too stuffy. The wait staff can some times be a little condescending but the service is still attentive snd friendly.

Excellent Choice

By Paul W |

We found this as a recommendation by a professional food taster. It was wonderful. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant was quiet enough so we could talk easily without shouting. Loved the bread! The ambiance was good. Pretty decor. We were celebrating an event. The restaurant provided a celebratory dessert. Very nice. Thanks. The pricing was reasonable. We will be back next time we are in Dallas.

Jean Marie Cadot has been a fixture in North Dallas for decades

By Jose O |

Jean Marie was the chef at Lavendou before branching out and opening his eponymous restaurant. Wonderfully appointed with his usual excellent French fare, Great food from a master chef.

Authentic french with good service and classical decor

By csoeda |

Visited for early dinner with family. Their food is always very authentic and really good! French baguette comes with real butter. Good selection of wine and martini list. They can make traditional escargot if you like. Our server Joshua too care of us, checked our table constantly, answer to questions and requests. He's really good!! Main dish Duck is my favorite. This time, duck leg was not crispy as I like so asked to redone it and they served me new perfect crispy one! Classical and romantic decor is perfect for date night but also good for family gathering. Accordion playlist usually play live accordion music but he was not there this time due to play at concert somewhere. They have outdoor seat, too.

Nice atmosphere

By dallasangelgirl |

I sincerely liked the atmosphere. The food is good; portions are European in size; the service is good; the staff is friendly. The wine list is expensive. The management is visible to ensure a quality dining experience. Late afternoon lunch is my favorite time to go. I wish they were open on Saturday for lunch. The souffle is delicious!

Wonderful Valentines Dinner

By Sharon H |

We love French food and wine. We made a trip to France in Oct 16 so we want to keep our memories fresh. This restaurant did just that with the food, service, wine and atmosphere. Since this was Valentine's Day, they had a fix priced menu with 3 options for the 3 courses. All was excellent but the apple tart that was over cooked slightly. We choose a wine based on our waiter's recommendation. It was nice but in hind sight wish we order a French wine. The restaurant is soooo French! The waiter "Rui" is very knowledgeable since he owned a restaurant in Luxembourg knew how to guide us. I cannot wait to go back so I can order from the full menu. We live approximately 45 miles from the restaurant but plan to make this one of our special treats.

Favorite French Restaurant in Dallas

By Skppr1 |

Jean-Marie Cadot, the owner and chef at this restaurant, pours his heart and soul into preparing and serving outstanding French cuisine. My favorite is his veal scallopini. My sister and her husband eat here several times a month. It’s my favorite place to eat when visiting Dallas. I encourage anyone who loves expertly prepared, delicious food to try Cadot!

First class, five star food and service! Unbeatable!

By jenniferteddlie |

Chef Jean-Marie never ceases to amaze us with his fresh menu of traditional French cooking. He is man who loves what he does and it shows. His attention to detail is unmatched. We had my husband's birthday dinner here and I asked to have a cake. Chef made the best cake I have ever tasted and our birthday celebration was perfect. We will continue to choose Cadot over the others in Dallas!

Not great for Mother's day lunch

By Alice W |

May be we are foodies? May we expect a lot when a lunch menu is over $50., we expected something a bit special.....The goat cheese salad came with a goat cheese croquette that didn't taste like any goat cheese....the cold asparagus soup was fine but not special. My sole was a disappointment....the color of the sauce was weird and it didn't taste anything special...The steak was good....my daughter loved it..she is 11 and loves a good steak.....The chocolate marquise was yum...but the cherry clafouti was a disaster...I couldn't even finish it and I love, love deserts....strawberry Panna cotta was consumed but there was not much delight in it....The Russian guy who played the music was excellent...love, love him...All in all, it was fine experience but will not return because it is pricey but not special....

Business lunch

By TravelerSJT |

The atmosphere was conducive to conduct a business meeting. It wasn't too loud, varied items on the menu to meet most people's taste. There were severa business meetings and birthday lunch celebrations. Food is French. Sauces were light, not too heavy. Crab cakes were great! And, the lobster ravioli in a red sauce was enjoyed by a colleague.

Excellent Restaurant

By Astarac |

Had a great dinner at Cadot. I am a Vegan and Cadot is one of the few restaurants where I had an outstanding Vegan meal. The restaurant is quiet and lovely with white table cloths and attentive, helpful service. We had gazpacho that was so rich I thought it had cream and sent it back, but the Chef came to the table to inform it didnt and his preparation techniques that made it so creamy. Nice of him. My wife had Coq au Vin that was delicious. Profiteroles for dessert were also excellent. Overall, I was very impressed and will definitely return to Cadot. Highly recommended.

Good food, slow service

By RSM |

Nice place, very good food but it took a lot of time to get our food on a not so busy Saturday night. The dessert selection could be better - I expected much better choices.

Unpretentious but nice, exquisite food but not overly expensive

By OedipusTex |

My wife and I have dined at Cadot twice now and it's officially in our "rotation." The food here is top notch, and though it's not cheap it is reasonably priced, a bargain for high end French fare. The atmosphere is what I would describe as casually elegant. You can dress up a bit or dress down and not feel out of place with either. My wife has had beef both visits, and both time it was cooked to perfection. I have had the lamb and the duck a l'orange, each one very tasty. The mushroom brie soup was also delicious. We shared a chocolate souffle for desert which was quite good, surpassed only by rise no. 1 in my book. Cadot also has an accordian player who whisks about the room playing a piece or two at each table. He is quite knowledgeable and knew all the Edith Piaf tunes I requested. Good man!

Very Special Restaurant

By TTHOMPSONDAL |

Enjoyed the French Onion Soup and the Coq au Vin. The service and food were over the top. Friendly service and usually have a visit from the chef. We have eaten at Cadot at least once a month for the last year. The menu changes and the best thing about the restaurant is that he stays open so that you can arrive at 5 pm for an early dinner.

Would Return

By MrDallasDean |

Had the seafood crepe and filet mignon for a Valentines dinner. Both were good and just missed 5 stars. We had excellent service from Ramon, but the table next to us had another waitress who seemed to be slow. The menu was a set menu due to Valentines, but the wife and I plan to head back to order off the normal menu in the future.

Home away from home

By Carolyn Wickwire |

The number of regulars here attests to the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the warm, welcoming staff. We had our wedding lunch here last year. Try the mussels; have never had a better sauce. And the mushroom-Brie soup!!

On the Very Good Side of Average

By Jane S |

I couldn't convince myself to rate this at very good, but it's better than average - especially for a neighborhood restaurant. We went for a special occasion and the food was very, very good - classic continental dishes that were done the way you remember them. The service was OK, but not anything to write home about. It's the restaurant itself that missed the mark for me. Outside is an inviting red and yellow awning. There's a patio enclosed in one of those thermal wrap things to make it weatherproof. It looks like you want to go there. Inside, they need a decorator. Blonde wood floors, blonde wood furniture and everything else is white. (yawn) Just not elegant enough to make me feel like it's special. They have a lot of oil paintings on the walls, but they need someone who knows what they're doing to hang them. Nothing seems to fit exactly right. We'll go back, because it's in the neighborhood and the food is good, but it won't be where we go when we're feeling like a special occasion.

A strip mall restaurant that is anything but...

By billp25 |

In a run of the mill strip mall in North Dallas hides a little gem of an oasis. The staff is attentive without intrusiveness. the food is inventive without being bizarre a decent wine list and some notable desserts. All at a price point that, while making this mostly a rare treat for most of us, if you are careful, is affordable as a once or twice a month place.

Great food in hidden location!

We live not far from here & have never been. We came here to participate in DFW Restaurant Week; however, we order off of regular menu. Food was outstanding! Scallops & Sea Base cooked to perfection! Will definitely return.

What a fantastic place We have made multiple visits, every one a great meal. The Chef always has something new and seasonal, yet maintains a great offering of classic French standards,

Fantastic Food, Fantastic service, true fine dining

By Daniel K |

I was looking for someplace special to take my wife and an out-of-town visitor to lunch. Dallas has a lot of choices, truly great restaurants, but a prior dinner experience here made me think of Cadot's. Good choice... The lunch menu had some tasty and unique items on it, and I chose the trout, the ladies both chose a special salad with chicken breast pieces in it. The trout was cooked to perfection, and the presentation was also perfect. Some of the most delicious trout I have ever had the please of eating. The salads were perfect also, and the ladies loved them and raved about them. Also, I had ordered an escargot appetizer and a terrine appetizer for us to split, and both were exquisite. Josh served us, and he made us all feel special, that feeling you can expect to get when you experience true fine dining.

Exceptional food and wonderful ambiance

By marie p |

My husband and I went to Cadot's on Preston Road in Dallas today for a quiet lunch. The food was EXCEPTIONAL and the ambiance is wonderful. I started with vichyssoisse, and my husband had tomato basil soup. Both were wonderful. I ordered a white bordeaux, which was a perfect accompaniment. I had the chicken crepe for my entree, and he had the croque monsieur. The food was filling enough, that we didn't even consider dessert, something we'll definitely do next time. The service was a little slow, but it was somewhat busy, considering it was at 1:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. The waitperson was personable and apologized several times. The walls of the restaurant are filled with original paintings by the owner/chef's mother, and they are striking. We came for restaurant week, but were glad we ordered off the menu, as we wouldn't have been able to finish everything. The prices are quite reasonable, too.

Unfortunately, no.

By FamilyMan1963 |

Both my appetizer and entree were barely warmer than room temperature. Skillet steak ordered medium was not cooked throughout. Mussels were very good. Two onions soups homemade but unremarkable. Crawfish etouffee tasted more like an Italian Dish with crawfish unidentifiable and room temperature. Blackened tuna not finished off in the oven was raw towards the middle and yet was not tartare or sushi quality tuna. It was difficult to cut with a regular knife except on the overcooked edges. Was a Tuesday night and there were plenty of staff. Not sure if the chef was in the kitchen. Service was excellent. Not something we would return for.

Love this place!

By scesker |

I live down the street and haven’t been here in years for really no reason. I went last night and started with the goat cheese salad to start. So amazing fresh and delicious. Then I had coq au vin which was amazing. My boyfriend had the salmon cooked perfectly. I wanted dessert but was too full. Next time! I can’t wait to go back.

Good French Restaurant that could have been Great

By Sara G |

We had a group of 5 and went on restaurant week. After looking at the set menu, we chose to go a la carte. We started with Mussels In A White Wine Herb Cream Sauce. They were small, but plump and tender, with a wonderful light sauce. The salads that followed were fresh and perfectly tossed with dressing. The Sea Bass Crusted With Pecan, Butternut Squash, and Potato Gnocchi, and the huge bone in Pork Chop were stand out entrees. The only disappointment were the souffles for dessert. We had just returned from France and had the best entree and dessert souffles, and these were such a disappointment. As soon as your spoon tore open the top it collapsed into the ramekin that was completely devoid of eggy goodness; your spoon hit the empty bottom of the bowl. The waiter kept running back to the kitchen for additional chocolate sauce and pouring it into the sad, empty base. No amount of chocolate covering the base of the bowl hid the fact that not enough product was used and at $12, it felt like a huge rip off. Will probably go again, but will stear clear of the disappointing desserts.

Good food and service

By JimB |

We had an enjoyable dinner at this restaurant recently. Service and food were good, atmosphere a bit "different" but not bad. Two of the group had dover sole, which they said was good but was too large a serving for women and was very pricey.

Nice French Restaurant

By Keith D |

Date night for October, and had recently tried another French restaurant in the area so wanted to compare. Service was a little spotty at first, but smoothed out over the night. Food was excellent, sharing scallops in a white wine linguine sauce. Wine choice was excellent too, although the list needed some work. California wines were listed by winemaker and varietal, but most of the French wines did not have the winemaker listed, just the region or style.

Excellent French

Great service. Wonderful food. Charming ambiance. Great for a romantic date. A gem of a restaurant. We are lucky to have it here in Dallas.

Excellent Restaurant

We wanted to try somewhere new so we literally just drove around and stopped at Cadot because it looked interesting. What a gem find! We will most definitely return. The menu is great. The presentation and taste impeccable complete with great service and atmosphere.

Overrated

By Amy C |

My husband and I dined here with two other couples on Valentine's Day and were very unimpressed. The service was slow and clumsy and the food was just mediocre. We started with mussels, which were luke warm by the time they reached the table and did not taste fresh. My entree was veal, and it was very bland. The soufflé was delicious and was really the only saving grace of the experience. Overall, not worth the price point.

Wonderful food and service

By maddgroup |

Lovely restaurant, food was delicious, and we were not "hurried" through our meal. Our orders were delivered exactly as ordered. They re-filled our drinks and bread to suit our party.

Really nice place.

By Likeness |

Six of us went for Restaurant Week for lunch. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time since I live in the neighborhood. Off the menu, I had the tomato bell pepper soup, the omelet with mushrooms and brie and the strawberry tart. The soup was very good, the omelet was light and fluffy and really very good. Loved the green beans and carrot. The strawberry tart, not really good. The crust of the tart had no taste and was on the hard side. The service was excellent, the noise level was high but not unbearable. I loved the decor of the restaurant. Everyone else loved their food except for the tarts. I will return and bring my husband.

A Restaurant to Be Respected

By Lee F |

Lunch here always makes me feel like I might be in France. Chef-owner is here most of the time and I think he is stays true to the French style of service and food preparation. Soups are always great, fish dishes well-prepared, and even the lowly hamburger is great, with tasty, crisp fries. Plate of small biegnets with three dipping sauces is not to be missed if you have a sweet tooth. Can be shared. We usually eat lunch here, but could be a great romantic destination.

Truly Delightful Neighborhood French Restaurant

By DXICHK |

We have visited Cadot several times and it is consistently wonderful. Food is authentically French, lovely patio, good service - always delightful!

Ok for the price

By Marisa311 |

The portion were small and I do not eat a lot. My fish which was one of the plates of the house has way to much butter. The atmosphere is for people 70 years old and older. I think you can get your money worth in a different restaurant.

Enjoyable dinner at the neighborhood gem.

By RoyS783 |

We had a very nice dinner here. The Tilapia on Risotto was very good with a light crust and fresh taste. The citrus sauce really made it special. I was a little disappointed with the crab cakes. They were mostly bread but the flavor and balsamic citrus sauce was good. They just need a bit more crab. My wife enjoyed her sea bass and squash entree. The apple tart dessert was a perfect finish for the two of us.

Excellent Anniversary Experience

By NicoleHT |

My husband and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary here and it was fantastic! The food was excellent, I highly recommend the lamb and duck terrine appetizer. My husband had the escargot, I didn't have any but I did try the sauce it was in. Delicious! The braised short ribs are also tender and amazing. The best part of the meal (and the whole thing was excellent!) was definitely dessert. We had the grand marnier souffle which our waiter (Bruce) recommended. BEST. SOUFFLE. EVER. Ever!! We live only a block or so away and we will definitely be back. The service here, by the way, is over the top amazing. Our waiter made great recommendations and was attentive without being annoying. The whole evening was wonderful, I highly recommend this place!

Delicious and fantastic experience!

Our waiter was very friendly and very good at his job, and the food was absolutely delicious. I’d highly recommend!

Birthday celebration

By Laney A |

We had a large family birthday party st Cadot and it was fabulous. Everything from the food and wine to the waitstaff was great. We had reserved a private room which was perfect. Pretty expensive, but worth the cost.

Really, really good

By jpmcdonough |

We have dined at Cadot several times and it is consistently excellent. The chef/owner used to cook at Lavendou, up the street a little ways, but he left and went out on his own. The wait staff is very good, the food is really excellent. My wife and I each had the tomato/mozzarella salad, very nicely presented with a balsamic dressing. My wife does not eat meat, but they always have a couple of vegetarian options on the menu. This night they had a special, risotto with black mushrooms and truffles, which our waiter recommended and even M. Cadot had something to say about. It was very good. I chose a stuffed rabbit dish, which was served with noodles. It was simple but perfectly executed. A wonderful meal.

Cadot - a bit of France in Plano!

By PamelaM2014 |

Well from the minute we walked in we were treated as special guests. The atmosphere was warm and inviting we were seated quickly and served drinks. The waiter was very helpful and gave excellent suggestions. We enjoyed the soup and escargot. Portions were reasonable -- not the mega size that most restaurants serve. The steak frites were so yummy - made with a bit of truffle oil and the fish with risotto that I enjoyed was so savory my mouth is watering remembering it. We had two desserts - the opera cake was tasty and the profiteroles were excellent little pastries. We will be back!

Fantastic

By gringatx |

I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday. I had read several reviews of different places in Frisco, Plano and this part of Dallas to pick a nice place for a meal. Our server, Paul , was fantastic and really went over the menu and made good recommendations for us. I had read several reviews about how good the lamb chops were and my boyfriend ended up getting those and loved them. He said they were the best he's had from anywhere. I had the veal scapolini , which was a new dish for me and it was really good. Very tender , very thin. As this is a nice restaurant and a little on the expensive side, there were lots of people celebrating their birthdays or going away parties and special events. We ended up paying about $100 plus tip for our two meals with one iced tea and one water, and shared the dessert. I would definitely return here and recommend this to friends and family. It's not somewhere I can afford to go very often but for a once or twice a year special date night it's great. It's really one of the best restaurants I've been to in the last 6 months.

Enjoyable Thanksgiving at Cadot

By Food & Lodging Critic |

This year we selected Cadot as our choice to have our Thanksgiving Dinner. And was pleasantly surprised with the menu selections. We both wanted to experience America's tradition French style. Chef Cadot prepares every recipe from scratch. Cadot was perfect. moist turkey, cranberries, stuffing and sauce followed by pecan tart. And of course moscato sweet white wine. Thanks chef for a memorable experience.

Great French Bristro

By garnett h |

Chef Jean-Marie Cadot does it right at this nice little establishment. Great ambience and the food was cooked to perfection and our waitperson, Rouy, took impeccable care of our party. When we come back to North Dallas Cadot will be on the must stop again list.

Perfection

By Nina R |

We moved to Frisco from Colorado just two months ago and said that we refused to eat at the same place twice because of all the dining options here in the area. But we have had to make an exception for Cadot. We have visited twice and plan on making it many more! Our family (which includes our 13 year old daughter) have given Cadot a hands down 5 star rating!!! We have had 3 appetizers, 6 entrees, and 2 desserts and every single bite has been extraordinary. Chef does such an amazing job with the sauces...the orange and ginger sauce on the duck is to die for. The sauce on the short rib makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Michael brings hot bread whenever needed and the service is impeccable. I’d HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for a romantic evening or family affair! Such a beautiful setting and fantastic food.

It really is that good

By Ryan H |

If you're looking for French food, this is not going to disappoint. First, it is in a strip mall where several other restaurants are located, but don't let the location fool you: it is good. Second, the price is right. Expect 2 entrees, 3 drinks (for 2 people), appetizer, and dessert to be around $140 - $180, plus tip. For a really nice dinner, this is worth the price Third, the service is matched to the food --- white table cloth meal and upscale service. Fourth, the bar area is nice any not loud. Fifth, the clientele seemed to be well-to-do, a tad older than the 30 somethings, and well refined. A few couples / friends seemed to be regulars and were obviously just having appetizers and several cocktails / wine. A few younger couples were there obviously having a nice dinner. Sixth, this is not a cargo shorts or Levis kinda place. It is not a coat and tie either. Business casual would be appropriate and anything less is under dressed for the atmosphere. Seventh, kids would be OK but why you would want to put them through an ordeal to not disturb everyone else who would be there to have a nice, QUITE dinner is beyond me. There is an outdoor patio and kids would be more appropriate out there but again, why? Eighth, reservations would be advisable. Ninth, the chef's tasting menu would be something to seriously consider. Tenth, it is goooood. The real deal. I had the veal and my dinner companion had the sea bass, and both were excellent ... EXCELLENT. The appetizers were the mushroom brie (first rate!) and the Caesar salad, another winner. All were prepared as it should have been, seasoned well, and served as in any fine dinning restaurant. There is a vegetarian option so that is a plus. Excellent all the way around. Can't go wrong with this one.

Food and service were great

By nat1225 |

This is the kind of place that you go to where you want to be able to talk and not be rushed. The salads were excellent and they have a wide variety to choose from. The portions themselves are small and at the prices that they charges, they should have been dinner size. The escargot appetizer included three small snails in a nice cream sauce. The entrees were fine but also on the small side. We have found this with many restaurants lately in that they have raised prices but also cut back on the portions. It is good for profit margins but does little for repeat business.

Outstanding French food

By Kay6749 |

The atmosphere is always wonderful and my favorite choice is the fish. Then they have the most wonderful deserts.

French... really!

By sablatt |

It didn't take hearing Chef Cadot's accent to realize that this is a traditionally Fresh restaurant. Everything about it is impeccably gallic, although not stuffy. The setting is very pleasant and conducive to quiet conversation, and the service is attentive without being at all intrusive. We started with the duck terrine, lentil soup and bibb lettuce salad, and they were all delicious. The lentil soup was the richest I ever had, and perfect for a winter evening. The duck terrine was country style with nice duck chunks, and its accompaniments were the perfect added flavor. As for the salad, it came with Granny Smith apples, candied pecans, Roquefort and a light mustard vinaigrette, and was astonishingly my veggie avoiding husband's favorite of the three. We segued from that to the potato gnocchi, flat iron steak and salmon filet. The steak had a nice texture and flavor, and the fries were delicious morsels. The salmon filet was cooked very well, as was its bed of spinach, but the lemon thyme sauce could have been a little more strongly flavored. Still, it was very tasty. The gnocchi were the only sour note in our meal due to their texture, which was gooey and glutinous, and the very tasty mushrooms in port wine sauce did not rescue the sad dumplings. Our waiter replaced them with a vegetable plate which was an excellent rescue, and my favorite of the entrees. It was beautifully plated, with vegetables cooked several ways and a bed of ratatouille to combine it along with lovely torpedoes of quinoa. We enjoyed the creme brulee and profiteroles filled with ice cream and served in a delicious chocolate sauce, although the choux pastry was a little hard for my taste. That was the unfortunate consequence of having an ice cream filling instead of a whipped cream filling. It was still delicious.

Great for groups

By NicoleHT |

We did a work event here and it was excellent. Working with their events coordinator was really easy, she made great suggestions for heavy apps and drinks. We had an open house style happy hour in their outdoor area and it was run seamlessly. The staff was really nice and friendly, very attentive without being overbearing. Would love to come back here for a full dinner!

Great place for lunch !

We loved the restaurant. My chicken crepes were divine. Service was excellent. The food out shines other French restaurants in the area

Fabulous French Food in North Dallas

By sablatt |

Our group of four started with the Belgian Endive and Spinach Salad and the Bibb Lettuce. Both were completely delightful, with a wonderful mix of ingredients and tasty, but light, dressings. We segued to the Coq au Vin, Salmon Filet and a special Chicken with Brie. All the dishes were wonderful, but we were embarrassed that it proved impossible not to use the perect bread to sop up the delicious sauces from the coq au vin and salmon dishes. Our mothers would be dismayed at the lack of table manners, but I'd defy anyone to resist. I will say that we agreed the coq au vin was better than the chicken with brie, but that's probably because the former was so very delicious. We had three wines, and I wish I could remember the names because they were all very good. We had a pinot noir, white burgundy and muscadet. If you go, I'm sure your waiter or even Chef Cadot can point you in the right winey direction. Service was exactly what I like, unobtrusive, but there when we want it, and warm, but not overly friendly. Cadot is also an excellent value. While it's not cheap, it is more than reasonable for what you get.

Friday night

By Strimpley |

Must have been a bad night as it was not at all what our normal experience is. Had called ahead to get our favorite waiter, Benjamin and asked for a table away from the door and when we arrived they said Benjamin was not able to take care of us and they immediately seated us at a table closest to the door. We asked to be moved and when our Food arrived, it was barely warm. They did graciously offered us a free dessert to make up for the condition of the food. Definitely will plan to not go on a Friday night.

A bad server killed the time

By Sandra J |

First time to eat here. The setting is nice with an authentic European feeling. The food was stellar, from the Duck confit to the escargot to the Gran Marnier soufflé. But our server was a buzzkill, at best. His classic attempt at The end of the meal to try and salvage his gratuity was to tell us he was making us fresh coffee.......just like he told each table around us. Very good restaurant with a server from the B team.

First Time

By CarnivoreGunter_TX |

Went to Cadot's for the first time with friends that gave been going there for a while. Everything was great. From the bar to the service to the food. The owner comes by and will even have a drink with you. Can't wait to go back.

Nice presentation that is tasteless

By DonJancauskas |

Good location, nice looking building and layout. I ordered the salmon and my wife ordered a chicken dish. Both looked great when brought out. The only problem we had, was neither dish had any taste. It was like eating a chunk of unflavored gelatin. Their first impression was a guarantee we would not be back.

👍 Excellent French Bistro

By CDM49 |

Good food, good wine 🍷, Good atmosphere and service. What more can I say. We fully enjoyed our dinner. Started with the Calamari $11, Caesar Salad 🥗$9 wine $35. For main course I had the Shrimp & Scallop Pasta $28. My spouse had the rack of Lamb $44. Atmosphere was quiet and pleasant tables with white table cloths. Katheryn our waitress provided very friendly service. If eating on the weekend suggest making reservations. Restaurant is located in a strip mall so lots of parking places although you may have to walk a piece.

Bon Appetit

Delicious authentic cuisine house made by phenomenal creative genius Chef Cadot! Able to accommodate delicious vegan and vegetarian options as well. Lovely Service! Exquisite beautiful ambience

Very good food

By yphilippe |

I had the seared foie gras, scallopini and desert souffle. The food was really good, well executed and presented, the bread was delicious - warm and crispy. The only miss was coffee at the end of the meal, it was clearly burnt. I expected fresh coffee from this type of restaurant. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he did not give me fresh one but took it off the bill.

Our Second Visit | Great Place

By Food & Lodging Critic |

We were recommended to Cadot by a very dear friend who equally raves about this french restaurant. ( We posted here several pictures of our orders...) Very French taste. . . On the 1st visit we had dinner which was a very nice experience. And then we came back for late lunch. Again, we were not disappointed. The entree's were excellent. The ambience was very clean - white table cloth, and waiters are punctual.

Excellent service, presentation AND Food of course

By Zhorshik |

We visited the location of what previously was Positano's (Which we also liked) to try out the product put out by Chef Cadot. In a word, MARVELOUS! I started with the Foie Gras which was second In taste only to what I had in Geneva. My wife had the escargot and it was very hard to get a sample out of her as it was in a cream base and very succulent & flavorful. My entre choice was the Veal Scallopini while very good was not the best I ever had - I would order it again as the sauce w/capers was excellent in my opinion. Our server suggested one of us order the last serving of Saltimbocca. My wife took him up on it and she was NOT disappointed at all. Dessert consisted of Gran Marnier Suffle & fresh fruit parfait with coffee & after dinner drinks. For a Tuesday, the place was fairly lively and from the sounds & sights, it looked like everyone shared our opinion. I highly recommend Cardot - easy to get to and not in a crowed area.

Excellent food & service

By TexasFreqTraveler |

This is a very elegant restaurant. Our group ordered appetizers, main entrees, and desserts. Everyone said their food was very good. One thing that I liked was that was there was little space between the courses. At some nice restaurants you spend a lot of money and you're done in 30 minutes. I want to savor the experience a bit. The service at the restaurant was very good as well. There was a man playing the accordion who strolled among the tables playing music. The accordion player was very good. However I didn't like the accordion playing as I felt I was back in the 50's. I would have preferred something more modern.

Great French food in Dallas Texas? Who would of thunk?!

By chefbar |

My visit to Cadot started a bit shaky but it could not have turned out better. This is a great place with old school menu items mixed in with several updated modern French fusion items. It’s too bad that there aren’t more of these old school places. I arrived and informed the host I was dining alone as I glanced into the dining room. The reaction was to maybe sit in the bar. OK I get that you don’t want to give up a table for just one person and I was led to a table in the bar area. Several servers passed me by several times with no service. Finally the bartender saw me and came over to my table (she was very busy as the bar was also the service bar for the dining room). Everything was great from there. She did a great job, knew the menu and her wines. Basically everything but the bread is made from scratch here including the stocks and the Demi-Glaces. And it shows. I had the crispy duck confit a sort of Asian/French fusion dish. The confit was perfect as well as the citrus sauce that accompanied. Then a watermelon and tomato salad with a balsamic reduction, a very refreshing second course. It was at this point I noticed the chef (who is the chef owner Jean Marie Cadot) circulating and checking up on things in the front of the house. Wow I wish all chefs did this. He stopped by and asked how my salad was. I told him it was great and I asked how the sweetbreads were (I order this for my entrée). He looked at me and said well they are great and he wished more people would order them as well as other offal meats. He also said that he has several varieties he keeps in his freezer and with a days’ notice he would be happy to prepare them. We lamented for a bit how those items and the classic preparation of them were a dying art. The crispy sweetbreads with a Madeira Demi-Glace arrived and they were wonderful. Chef stopped by to see how I liked them and saw my very clean plate and smiled. We spoke for a bit and I let him know I was in the biz so he sat down for some time and we had a nice conversation and then he offered a tour of his kitchen which turned out exactly as I thought it would be; very organized and spotlessly clean. If I get back to Dallas I will return and make the call for some special order items!

Valentines dinner

By Tammy B |

My Sweetheart and I planned a dinner for Valentine's Day. We chose Cadot. We arrived and were greeted with contemporary French decor and a romantic ambience. The menu offer good selection of authentic French cuisine. The staff were courteous competent without being intrusive. Live music added to the French atmosphere. All in all it was a lovely romantic evening. We will visit there again.

Consistently superb cuisine

By Michael D |

After being away from Dallas for some time, my wife and I returned to Cadot two Saturdays in a row to host two different couples, both of whom appreciate excellent menus, preparation and service. Each couple was very complimentary of Cadot, as were we. Excellent menu, superb quality, and good service: the ingredients of an enjoyable evening out.

Exquisitely presented cuisine in a chic informal setting.

Chef Jean-Marie Cadot combines classic French culinary expertise with contemporary American nuances to create an innovative menu of superbly presented and subtly flavoured dishes. The service is elegantly skilled, and the wine list offers options to cater for the discriminating palate.
