I would not consider Austin Texas a seafood mecca and I usually try to stay with steak when in Texas. But, I was convinced to give the Blue Cafe a try. They have a great selection of oysters and seafood dishes and all were excellently prepared. They also have a nice selection of local craft beers. Nice bar seating, as well as, regular dining. A great place to catch a game and have a few oysters in the bar or more traditional dining in the dining room. Service was excellent as well. Worth a stop even if though Texas is known for beef.

This is one of those strange places that has a bar area with bare table tops and in the back booths with wooden table tops and white tablecloths in the middle of the room. We had called for a reservation for a week in advance and told them it was my husband's birthday. They steered us to the bar area until I protested. We chose the calamri with teriyaki sauce. For dinner my husband had the redfish Louisiane and I had the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna Steak. We were happy with both and he chose the molten chocolate cake to share. The restaurant didn't even write hb on the cake plate. We certainly prefer the location in Bee Cave.

Had only an hour for lunch and this place worked great. The chicken strawberry salad is wonderful, and the bread they bring to the table is amazing.

i highly recommend the sea bass; it was perfectly cooked and the daily veg of Mediterranean spinach (spinach sautéed with olives and tomatoes) was a very nice accompaniment. There were four in our group, we each had a different selection, and all were excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located across the street from the convention center.

A friend and I had Sunday brunch here and really liked it. The restaurant is located across the street from the convention center and an easy walk from any downtown hotel. We started brunch with delicious fresh shucked cold water oysters from Prince Edward Island. Loved them. I had the Lobster Eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly poached and it had a lot of lobster claw meat. A delicious spin on one of my brunch favorites. My friend had the Lobster and Asparagus Omelet (it was huge). He loved it. We managed to share a Chocolate Flan Cake for desert and stuffed ourselves to the gills. The cake is worth a trip alone and they had a nice selection of port wines to complement the chocolate. Great brunch and I bet it’s just as good no matter when you go.

Ate here on a Friday night. JD was our server. We were seated quickly. We ordered the blackened red fish with fries. Portion sizes are huge. The rolls were delicious. Only complaint was that it was noisy

I happened to see a Travelzoo special while preparing for a recent vacation to Austin. We had never spent time in Austin and kept hearing about lots of good places to eat but decided to take a chance and purchase this dining special. Even though we go a great price on dinner for this place it turned out to be one of our favorite meals while in Austin. We happened to be there on Wine Wednesday and all wines, both glass and bottle are half off. There have several specials on various nights of the week so check it out. My wife had the stuffed flounder and I had the Ahi Tuna. They were both cooked perfectly and were more than we could eat. But wait, you have to try the Key Lime pie. Yes I know, you've had it every where, even in the FL Keys. Nope not til you have had theirs. It was awesome. I don't go back and talk to the chef very often but I did after this meal. The kitchen is open and visitors have visual access so I leaned over and we chatted about the excelent meal. It's a very nice place but not so stuffy and formal. It has a very nice and appealing bar if you would like to be seated there. If in downtown Austin, I would go.

We found this place by looking at various restaurant websites, and thoroughly enjoyed our brunch, although the place was not very crowded on a Saturday (it was a beautiful day and most people were probably enjoying the day). Crab cake benedict was a hit!

Sat there with friends from work for a light dinner. The fish where fresh the salads were green and delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much!

Food was good but a little expensive. Friendly staff but didn't seem too enthusiastic. Filet was done perfectly and was delicious but sides were a little lacking. Good selection of beer and beverages and nice quiet relaxing atmosphere next to some of the hustle of the rest of Austin.

Our servers were very accommodating with our party, preparing specialized drinks from the bar. Blue point oysters were fresh and delicious. Our party of eight enjoyed coconut shrimp, fried calamari, lump blue crab cakes which were all excellent. However, I was disappointed in the Blackened Shrimp Spinach Salad. The shrimp tasted frozen, not fresh. I will recommend the Redfish Louisiane topped with Cajun shrimp and crawfish brandy cream sauce which was served with rice pilaf and asparagus. Creme Brulee spiked with Gosling's Black Seal Rum topped with blueberries and strawberries was heavenly. Key Lime Pie is their speciality made from real Key limes and a buttery graham cracker crust. You can even take home a whole pie!

Wonderful meal. Great service. Calamari not over breaded. Sea bass delicious. Penne with wine cream sauce, artichokes, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and sesame tuna outstanding. Great find, highly recommend for fine dining.

I came here for lunch after a business trip and was horrified. I ordered onion soup and the shrimp salad. I was brought a donut and blueberry sauce before the food arrived which I assumed was a local custom being from out of town - I was expecting a bread roll: Then the shrimp salad arrived with just 4 rather lonesome looking shrimp and a pile of spinach and onion rings on top. Next shocker - I got a couple of mouthfuls through the salad and realised there was no dressing (bacon and sugar on the menu which I had hastily checked on my smart phone - being from out of town wondered if this was another local custom. There was a profuse apology and the cost of a beer was deleted from my receipt which was appreciated but wake up team- it's a competitive game world out there and this customer will not be coming back!

The food, service and atmosphere are good, the bread pudding is great. We'll worth a visit if you are in town

Cafe Blue is wonderful! I ate there once for lunch and once for dinner. Both were outstanding. For lunch I had the seared sesame - crusted tuna salad. The tuna was fresh sushi-grade tuna. It was wonderful and I've eaten a lot of sushi in this country and in Japan, so I'm a good judge. For dinner, I had the crabmeat stuffed flounder which was also excellent. The waitstaff are attentive and will make recommendations if asked. The wine list was excellent. Cafe Blue is outstanding!

During a break in RTX convention we were looking for a close place to eat. Being a Sunday we weren't sure what was open but looked on this website and saw the Cafe Blue was open and serving brunch! When we were seated, one look at the menu told us we would love it as the dishes had a New Orleans flare to them! Served quickly and was not disappointed! Will go back when we return next year!
Seared Mahi and Mango Salad
Perfect Mahi and Mango salad. The Mahi was seared and seasoned perfectly. The rest of the salad was just as tasty. Reasonably priced with a nice selection. Going back there for lunch again tomorrow. Excellent service, and very friendly staff.
