Many headlines say "the best blah-blah in Atlanta" but I truly believe this to be some of the best Indian food in Atlanta. One key giveaway is the number of Indians eating there. The other key is how good the food tastes...not a bad key there! Service was great, atmosphere was good, I'm glad we went out of our way to snag some on our way home.

We went there for a birthday dinner. 3 non vegetarians and 1 vegetarian. Overall the food was pretty good, they even customised our veg platter (more pakodas, no samosas). But the drinks were terrible. Only Mojito was the saving grace, the mango+vodka cocktail and their version of the Long Island Iced Tea were terrible. Bottom line: would recommend, but drink only water or soft drinks.

Had dinner with family during a trip to Atlanta after a good search for Indian food. We all were pleased to be at Cafe Bombay. Maa ki daal, paneer papad all were very good in taste. The butter man and tandoori paratha were more than expectation in taste as well as the size. 2 naans are more than sufficient for 4 persons. The staff is courteous and the amount we paid is Value for Money. No doubt, the bar and interior are good. Enjoy.....!

My credit card info was compromised by this establishment. Hours after eating at this restaurant someone was attempting to use my credit for 5K in Mumbai, India. I called the owner to speak about but no return call as yet.

We went their on our trip to Atlanta and were really surprised with the authentic Indian Breads. Food was good. Service awesome. Big place.

Great food and experience. Had the lamb kebabs and chicken Tika fresh naan and dessert. Will come back next time in area.

On a Saturday night, the restaurant was very busy. We were seated in the back room which I prefer. Service was excellent. Friendly and professional. We ordered the vegetarian dinner for two. Large quantities of well-prepared and tasty food. Especially liked the navratan korma. A belly dancer also entertained. Good value. Recommended.

Came here for a lunch that my new managers treated me to. Immediately seated with water freshly poured. My uplines gave me an option and this is what I chose and MAN! When I say flavors, I MEAN FLAVORS, like the starburst commercial, except you have a general idea of how it came to be!! Haha During lunch we sat in the buffet area, the food came out fresh to the lines and my skin tingled I was so anxious! LoL I literally tried everything all while trying to have conversation with my uplines. Hope they didn't take me for being rude, because I barely made eye contact, my eyes were on my plate. I definitely need to go back SOON, no talking necessary, just all flavor action. The chicken fell off the bones and was so juicy. YEESH The chickpeas were amazing and filled with flavor, made you want to pour the broth on EVERYTHING! The rice wasn't super dry ad they have so many sauces to choose from. The naan was nice and well toasted. GO already. Just GO!!!!

Had a dinner on Sep 20 evening. It is located in small strip center. The facility seems large; however, half of it was blocked off during the visit. Ordered a chicken dish and garlic naan and told the waiter up-front that I want very little oil/butter being used for chicken dish and no butter to be put on naan. Even after getting his acknowlegement, when the food arrived, naan was full of butter and the chicken dish was also heavy on the oil. When I raised the issue, the naan was taken away and another naan was ordered. The chicken dish -- I was told that the sauce is pre-made so I will have to order another dish. Regardless by the time the new chicken dish arrived, the rice received initially got COLD. The new chicken dish was tasteful and garlic naan without butter was also good. The food price were reasonable compare to other Indian restaurants in greater Atlanta as well as other major cities. Had the service issues were not there, I would have given a higher rating. Oh, their regular food is catered to typical cauciasn so if you want your food to be regular Indian taste, please tell up-front that you want spicy food else you will have blend taste.

I went there for a friend's birthday dinner. We were a mixed group of vegetarians & non vegetarians. It was very impressive that the menu had enough to satisfy the pallets of both the groups. Both the vegetarian as well as the non veg dishes were up to the mark. The ambiance is nice too but a little music would help to cancel the chatting noise which kind of gets high at times. The only scope of improvement I feel is the service. Its fine but when you visit such a restaurant with good food & good ambiance you some how expect a little more of professional service. All in all we all had a great time.

I am only considering the weekend lunch buffet ($13.00) in this review as I have tried several times. This place serves very good authentic Indian food. The menu remains more or less same over except for changes in one or two items. Specially, in the desserts they serves Gulab Jammun or rice pudding in the alternative weekends . There are good veg and non veg items (at least 20 to 25 dishes) and there is something for everybody. It is very crowded in the weekends and people with all ethnicity finds this atractive.

Descent ambience, bad service they don't care for customers.. Very limited selections in lunch buffet.. For Ala carte I was told might take 20-30min do each dish so choose buffet. Taste is average... Deserts were sad..pathetic 4-5 different (jalebi, rasgulla ,sweet boondhi and some more) kind of sweets put in one bowl all mixed up like left over and didn't even taste good.. Bad part is people who don't know actual Indian deserts will think Wat kinda weird desert is this.. ! Also weird was I stepped out for wash room and my plates were cleared and asked to stand at counter line to pay bill. I see rave reviews about place.. Not sure if it was incidental .I wudnt suggest this place to anyone..

If you want great authentic Indian cooking, then you have to head over to toco hill, to Cafe Bombay. Daily lunch buffets, that include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian cuisine. And of course lots of naan. If you'd like to have a large party they have a great gathering Hall. From time to time they also have belly dancers. They also have a tremendous menu you can order from. They also have take out daily. so when you have that craving for Indian food, make sure it's Cafe Bombay!

Last week I returned to Cafe Bombay after many years not living in Atlanta (I used to eat there probably once a week). The food is still good and service excellent.

Vegetarian food is one of the best I have eaten in US. They made it exactly spicy i wanted. All the dishes were really good. Place was crowdy. We actually reached near closing time so they were in hurry. The person attending us literally pushed us for ordering without thinking. So I was a bit disappointed with the service.

Its pretty much average across the board, except maybe the value of its lunch buffet which everyone raves about - it's cheap! The food is indistinguishable from other average Indian restaurants, except maybe the ones run by non-Indian chefs but from the subcontinent (and there are many of those). The latter frequently have curries that are different in name only. This place provides authentic food, but not great.

Their chicken tikka masala is 2nd to none and their naan is light and fluffy. I have eaten here several times for dinner, never the buffet, and it's great every time. Don't plan on a quick in and out. They like to take their time.

Tucked away in a hidden strip mall, cafe bombay was a great little treat. Very Good food, good selection and good value. Tried a variety of dishes, and the non-fried veg was very well done. With friends from india and the were very happy.

I went to India just last April, and i can confirm that Indian food is unforgettable. If you can't afford a trip to India, and you want that same delicious food, then come on to Cafe Bombay. Their naan was hot out of the oven, soft in the right places, and crisp in other places. I had the goat vindaloo, and i can recommend it for anyone who likes hot & spicy food. The vegetable pakora were also great, although very different in appearance and texture from what i had in Rajasthan. Very nice masala chai, although it was kind of lukewarm. Maybe that's just how Indians drink it, i don't know. But everything tasted great. I'm glad they brought chips and rice besides the naan, because i wanted to mop up every drop of sauce. I went to India last year. And in a way, i just went there again.

The place is nice. The buffet is better than most others in the city. The goat curry, chicken biryani and Gulab Jamun deserve a special mention. All in all, if your in town and craving Indian food this $13 buffet may just be the answer!

Very disappointed with the level of professionalism and services from Cafe Bombay for my daughter's wedding. The items presented to us at the tasting where not what was served to us at our events. Additionally, there was a shortage of food at our events. We have expressed our concerns to Cafe Bombay but did not get a response. I do not recommend Cafe Bombay for your large events.

10 Days in Atlanta this is the best most tasty and value for money food Indian buffet was so amazing I landed up over eating

Went here with some family and friends along with our kids. I had just come back from India 2 weeks prior, so it is possible that my expectations for good Indian food were slightly higher than normal. We ordered some Kingfishers for the table and also some apps. We got the Bombay Mixed Grill and also some Bullet Naans (naan with chillies on it). The Mixed Grill had a good taste to it except for the Chicken Tikka. The Bullet Naan was really good and I would recommend that to anyone. As for the main, we got Chicken Keema Matar (ground chicken with peas) and some kind of Lamb Curry. Both were good. After reading this, one would wonder why I gave it 3 stars. Its because we had no idea that they had a belly dancer on the night we were there. They should have seated us in another section since we had 5 children with us. It was highly inappropriate for them to seat us there without notifying us of the dancer. One of the girls said she was scared when the dancer came by. Were it not for this, I would rate them higher. Have some common sense, management, and do not seat kids in the area where you are going to have a half naked woman dancing around.

when my family and I go to Café Bombay we usually get the take out. their masala is divine, the service is great. and I had a wonderful experience, I have been many more times after that, and the result never varies it is good solid northern Indian food. one of the best restaurants ever, and my son and daughter both love it as much as I do.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Atlanta. The servers are friendly the atmosphere is casual and most importantly, the food is always excellent. On weekends, there are belly dancers that entertain while you eat. There is a large Indian clientele so that should tell you something about the quality and authenticity of the food. This is my first visit for lunch. The buffet has a great assortment and there are separate stream tables for vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. As always, the food is excellent.

I'm not from Atlanta and was told about this place. One of the best Atlanta has to offer. The service was great. The restuarant was very nice and indicative of Indian culture. And the food was perfect! If you like Indian and you're in Atlanta, please visit Cafe Bombay!

we just came from Cafe Bombay and my wife is having bad stomach right now, the restaurant is not clean, the food like they cook it yesterday !! The service okay, but manger is the worst person i have ever seen.

The place was packed! The service was quite good. My water glass was constantly refilled! The food was good, not great. The vegetarian entrees seemed a bit oily. The meat entrees were a bit better and quite tasty. The gulab jamun was great, especially swimming in pureed mango!

We order take out from here once every other month or so. Never eaten in the actual restaurant but it has nice atmosphere and tons of tables. Gets very busy -- particularly on Fri and Sat nights. Waiters see on it, too, when I've visited to pick my order up. This place is probably my favorite Indian restaurant in Atlanta. They have the best Bhindi Masala I've ever eaten. It's just heaven. I always order it. Their butter chicken is different but I like it. The only butter chicken I've ever had in Atlanta that tastes like Butter Chicken in Mumbai is from Zyka in Decatur. Everywhere else has too much tomato sauce in it. I do have to dump the layer of ghee on top of all my dishes once I get homee. So much oil! Portions are of very good size. Prices are very affordable. Never stayed for the buffet. We always order during dinner time.

So many vegetarian options! This is my go-to place in ATL. Service is fast, plenty of parking and seating, an easy exit off Druid Hills Rd.

Went with our college-aged kids who we were visiting for the weekend. Wanted to try something different besides the usual fare we have while in Atlanta (eg. dim sum, pho, Thai) and since this was close to their apartment, we decided to give it a try. Ordered chicken vindaloo, matar paneer, aloo gobhi (sp?), vegetable samosas, peas pulao, and a basket of naan which consisted of a variety of naan. Asked the waiter for the dishes to be medium spiced. To our disappoinment, the food came out just mildly spiced. The flavor of the dishes was good but not great as most reviewers have mentioned. The peas pulao was oily and the basmati rice could have been more aromatic but the samosas were flaky and the naan pretty good. The waiters were attentive but somewhat too hurried to clear our plates off the table even though it was clear that a person in our party was still eating. Overall, food was average and service could be less hurried. Will try other Indian restaurants in Atlanta before going back here again.

Really disappointed with the quality of the food here. They've seemed to gotten away from the roots of Indian food. The buffet is extremely bland with some of the worst Chicken 65 I've had which is not very hard to make. Also normally spicy food has been diluted to appeal to sensitive American palettes which is a mistake in my book, but also just my opinion. I don't think I'll be coming back here. I'll stick with ordering more flavorful and exceptionally well made food at Zyka.

Its been almost a year since I've been seeing this restaurant but never had a chance to eat here. Finally this friday I visited the place for dinner. I went there with my parents and wife. The ambience was not very spectacular or anything but not bad. For appetizers we ordered Tandoori chicken.. It was awesome.. spicy and cooked as it should be.. Even though it took them some time to serve but it was worth the wait .. just loved it. For main course we ordered Kadhai chicken, malai kofta and garlic naan. Kadhai chicken was good, we ordered it to be spicy and they prepared it just right. Malai kofta was ok. Garlic naan was also very soft and tasty. Over all we were very satisfied.

All of our business group arranged dinner at this location. The service was exceptional, starters were being served nice and hot to you and bar staff were very very nice. The buffet food was delicious specially the hot Gulab Jamoon. Will defiantly come here every time in town

The staff was very attentive to our table and checked on us frequently. The Lamb Curry and Chicken tikka Masala was so good. As the evening went on it got very crowded and everyone enjoyed the belly dancing entertainment. This place is great for friends night out, couples and families. We will return soon.

A wonderful lunch was had by all! Nice variety of food, from tandoori chicken to fresh naan and tikki Marsala! Great salads, too! Highly recommend!

Very good experience both with the food and the service. It was our second visit and it was quite crowded but the host did everything he could to get us seated. The choices are very varied, nicely presented and very tasty.

We waited until our second visit to review to be sure we liked this as much as we thought. Our answer is an unqualified yes. We dined on the thallis platter Bombay style with one vegetable dish and one meat. Each of us chose the Sag Paneer as our vegetable and respectively the chicken curry and the chicken tiki masala. The spinach was not at all greasy, very clean and the cheese firm and flavorful. Each meat dish was large chunks of white meat and properly prepared served with Naan and two sauces. Wines by the glass are large pours and from good name vineyards. Interior cleanliness is evident however the parking lot and exterior doors and windows need some work each day. Location is very convenient for the Buckhead area of Atlanta but the actual location is a bit hard to find.

Great food but poor service. Waiters do not recall what uou have ordered. Orders are not followed up.

Very nice restaurent ,friendly staff ,Food was very very good...

We were in town to visit Emory Univ and we decided to try out this place. First let me say that the outside of the place could be a LOT more inviting. At first we didnt even know if it was open and were hesitant to go in. BUT once we opened the door we were amazed by the ambience, the decor, the atmosphere Being Indian and having eaten at hundreds of Indian restaurants in the US, this place ranks up there in the top 10 places we have eaten with NO problem. This was the consensus opinion of the party. The Samosa Chat, etc and the meals were wonderful. The flavors and seasonings were well done. The service was excellent and very attentive. had a GREAT experience Would definitely eat here again the next time we are in Atlanta

Went for dinner on a saturday night. Place was busy but ordering took a while and took more time for the actual food to arrive. Utensils and cutlery was all beaten up, the actual plates were somewhat cleaner. Carpet is dirty, there is just too much stuff on the walls collecting dust. Food took time to arrive and the you can often hear the waiters scream at each other. Food is just below average, the mutton biryani was soggy and oily. The dessert was garnished behind the "day buffet counter" I am not really sure if its worth another visit.

We don't eat out at Indian restaurants too often, but Cafe Bombay is our go to in Atlanta. Their spread is always different and has plenty of options for vegetarians and non vegetarians. Food is always served warm, and the restaurant has a nice ambiance.

A little hard to find but worth it. Went with 2 friends and shared 3 entrees. Food was good and service was attentive. Entrees were enough for everyone to get a good taste. 2 types of Naan were hot and tasty. The buffet was over but glad to order off the menu. Friday night belly dancer entertained in the large room.

This was my first taste of Indian food, and I'll admit that maybe it's not really my thing, but we enjoyed our dinner there last week. The atmosphere was good, the service was great, and the food was tasty. The waiter was very helpful and guided us through the meal selection. We both shied away from the very spicy items, but one man's "mild" is another man's "OMG hot". The waiter's idea of "mild" was a bit different than ours. Be warned...... That's not a complaint, just a "heads up". If you like Indian, this place is probably great, it might be fantastic, but perhaps I would not be the best judge of the food. We enjoyed it.

There are lots of Indian places in Atlanta so you are never out of options. I went to this place first time in December 2011. We had dinner with the usual palak paneer, dal, and assorted bread basket. That was quite good. We visited this place again today for lunch. We were excited to more than usual number of options. As vegetarians, we like it when there is a segregation between non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes and there was this segregation here. The dishes did not have the typical indian taste but were decent. They were definitely much oily and greasy than one would like. The naan's weren't fresh and when we asked for fresh naan's, one waiter said that that's the best you will get while the other asked the owner and she said that if we pay extra, they could get extra naan for us. I didn't quite understand her logic. We weren't ordering something off the menu. We were just asking her to get us fresh naan's that should have been there in the first place. Oh well. I guess that's how a buffet is at an indian place. Be happy with what you get. In any case, we have enough options in Atlanta. I dont see myself visiting this place again. Bottom line: Bad service;Just about ok food.

I came here and had the lunch buffet which was pretty good. The naan and vegetables were all very good including the garbanzo bean dish along with a fried vegetable fritter. These were my favorite two dishes. The chicken dishes I tried were good but the chicken was somewhat dry and not as flavorful or spicy as I like. The deserts were very minimal but I did try a mango yogurt with mixed fruit which was decent. Overall pretty good and the service was pleasant and nice.

We have a lot of friends from India who highly recommended their buffet. We drove 2 hours from Birmingham to eat at their lunch buffet. Without a doubt, best buffet we have had since we moved to Bham area. Their buffet includes a great section, byriani rice is amazing, tandoori chicken, palak panneer, navratan korma, rogan josh, etc. We had a fantastic meal for a party of five and spent 60 dollars, can't beat this price. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try several authentic indian dishes without spending too much money!

It’s been some time since we ate at this, one of our favorite Indian restaurants. (We’ve been on WeightWatchers and no sense puttng temptation in our path but tonight our taste buds got the better of us. Ei-yi-yi! The points!) Nothing seems to have changed, except that the physically new (and harder to read) menu now lists such typical appetizers as samosas and pakoras under “tapas.” Come on, guys! And they’ve joined the artisan cocktail craze, featuring a number of concoctions with mango rum. My husband loves vindaloo but he’s also partial to palak paneer (spinach cooked with homemade cubes of cheese). When he spotted a new entry, saag chicken (chicken cooked in spinach, $11), he went for it. After I sampled it, I almost stole the dish from him, it was so good. It had a little bit of zing to it, but not enough spice to overcome the flavor (and one’s sinuses). My all-time favorite is baigan ka bharta (eggplant baked over an open charcoal flame then blended together with spices, onions, and peas, $10). But this go-round, the texture and taste were different—although the waiter assured me they’ve been preparing it the same way for some 26 years. Perhaps it’s because I last ate that dish, in a different form, whose texture I liked better, at Rose of India (way out Peachtree Road and inconvenient for last-minute dining out during Atlanta’s Friday rush hour). All was not lost as my entree, another favorite, chicken shahi korma (chicken cooked in a thick yellow creamy sauce, $11), was as good as ever. Flat, crispy papadum with mint sauce is delivered complimentary to the table, but we always go wild for the Indian bread. Tonight we O.D.’d on fat, puffy puri (2 pieces for $4). The basmati rice that comes with the meal is a perfect accompaniment. Someday I’m going to find out how they manage to separate each perfect, fluffy grain. And there is nothing like a Kingfisher Indian beer to drink with an Indian meal. The origin of the name is interesting—go Google it. From the outside, Bombay Café looks permanently closed, with black mirrored windows. Inside, low lights set an atmosphere that is distinctly…unIndian. From the décor in the large, generic, main dining room you’d never know you had left Georgia. A second room for overflow and for banquets is a bit more distinctively sub-continental (at least it used to be). We arrived about 6:30 p.m. to find the outer room already full, although within three minutes we got a booth recently vacated. It did not take long to order but then…we waited…and waited. Upon inquiry, the manager said the kitchen had gotten slammed with to-go orders. He, and all the servers and busboys, were working as quickly as they could, and were friendly and helpful throughout. I’m always startled to discover how a simple ethnic meal can tote up to $60 with tax and tip. At least I can say that my husband and I rolled home (literally) satiated and happy. And we can’t wait to do it again. WW points be damned!

I went for dinner and ordered chicken Tikka: The meat was tough and bad quality. It seemed like they wanted to go the cheap route and used leftover meat for this dish. Could not eat it.

I have fallen in love with Indian food down in Atlanta and CAFE BOMBAY is no exception. They have great service, great Naan and their Shrimp Goan Curry is outstanding. Also the butter chicken is a great recommendation if you like that type of meat. I have never been disappointed here and will continue to go back.

Arrived just after 21:00 for family dinner. They were vacuuming and said food to go only. Despite the fact their website & TA states they close at 22:00. Ordered chicken korma. Wasn’t told it came with rice. I ordered rice on top. So ended up with far too much rice. Korma is usually mild. This was very spicy. Asked for plain poppadoms. Got spicy poppadoms. Overall unhappy with the service, the lack of hygiene in the premises and the food wasn’t great to be honest. I guess we are lucky to have the best curry houses in the UK and we’ll refrain from having curry whilst in the States.

Every time I go to Atlanta, I try at least one new restaurant. So, last weekend I was there with my wife to celebrate my daughter-in-law’s baby shower. My son placed a catering order with Cafe Bombay. We went to pick up the order and my wife asked the man couple of times and he assured her that every item was there. Now at the party hall, we’re ready to serve food but discovered that one item was missing. When we called the restaurant, the man insisted of giving us the complete order. After realizing the item was indeed left behind in the restaurant, he said if someone can come and pick it up but we told him that you have to deliver ASAP. It was delivered hour and half after we’ve already finished. Now about the quality of food, it had no taste and please check the pictures, especially Shahi Paneer, they put nothing but the red color, color is not good or healthy. It was embarrassing in front of our guests. I’ve never had this kind of experience. They completely and totally ruined our very special day. I really didn’t even want to give them one star but… I will NOT recommend this restaurant at all. DISAPPOINTED 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Indian spices add such an extraordinary flavor to very common meats and veggies. I have visited quite a few metro area Indian restaurants. By far, Café Bombay offers the best Indian cuisine in Atlanta. I work downtown; but live 50 miles away from the restaurant. On weekends, I have driven 50 miles just to dine there.

Second visit here, ordered several different dishes plus Naan bread ... all quite good and arrived hot. Took forever to bring food out, even though the restaurant was only half full and we were there after dinner not on a Saturday or Friday. Like 30+ minutes. I like when servers immediately remove all dirty items from the table and give clean flatware. This doesn't happen here. Service is polite, but slow. Prices are reasonable, location is convenient. Not super fancy but a good reliable Indian place with lots of variety.

I went there with my GaTech friends for dinner. The place looks good once you enter the restaurant. The server was initially trying to accommodate by joining tables in the main buffet area, but we managed to get a table in the big area with has the bar as well. Now the food part. We ordered 4 appetizers. Gobi manchurian, samosa chat, aloo tikki chat and paneer tikka. Gobi manchurian was not well cooked and the florets were really big in size and they were not cooked as well. Everyone like the Paneer tikka which was spicy and cottage cheese was well cooked. For our main course we ordered Paneer butter masala and my friends ordered chicken tikka masala and another chicken dish. The entrees were really sweet in flavor and they were just ok. The Naan were really big in size and they were well cooked. My first experience was just ok. But I might visit this place again and will update the rating accordingly.

First time at this place and was quite impressed with the decor and attentiveness of the staff, despite it being a Friday night and packed. We were seated right away. We ordered the combination for two. It came with very good naan, chicken tikka masala which was very very good. I would go back if ever in the area! The rice pudding was fantastic!!

Staff and food was just terrible. I will never go again. Better food and better prices at many other places around Atlanta.

Prices up and quality dropped. Biriyani uses cheap rice, plain rice also cheap quality. Chicken in the Biryani is non-existent, you gotta fish for it. Butter chicken or red chicken is like dry tofu in sauce, and the desserts are gross. The buffet is the same everyday and the price for what you are not getting is very high. This place needs to rethink its menu cause we are never going back. Service is good but we can’t eat service.

We were seated very quickly although the restaurant was busy, and the buffet is a bargain. The food did not appeal to me as much as I expected and there was some confusion over our order and other aspects of the visit. This restaurant has a good reputation and I will try it again. One of the employees told us that the impending hurricane had made service difficult. I didn't understand that because they seemed well staffed and not insanely crowded (no lines, etc.). Next time I think I will order from the menu rather than the buffet, which did not appeal to me as much as I expected. Everyone on staff was pleasant and the seating was very comfortable-- so perhaps it was just an off day.

This is, without a doubt, the BEST Indian food in the ATL metro area!!! The lunch buffet is excellent and well worth the money. They've also recently opened the "Maharaja Hookah Bar and Lounge" on the weekends. So, whether you're looking to escape work for a nice lunch, have a romantic dinner, or have a girls'/guys' night, this is THE place to go! As a side note, the owner is also super nice. =)

Come here once in a while, and always enjoy fine service, excellent entrees and appetizers at reasonable prices. Usually order garlic Nan bread as an appetizer. Recently ordered Tandori fish, along with a vegetarian Thali (sp?) plate that had a combination of dishes, including yoghurt and dessert. There are multiple vegetarian and fish options. Have been here Sindays for their buffet. Service is prompt. And usually have enough left over to have at least a snack the next day. Parking just outside. Can dress casually if wish. Any downside- no outside view to speak of. Would recommend this restaurant for family get together, too. Please note if you find this review helpful.

We found Cafe Bombay on one of our first medical trips to Atlanta. We were amazed! That was almost 5 years ago, and many medical trips since. It is one of the highlights of our trips to Atlanta - eating at Cafe Bombay. The buffet is large, and plenty to choose from for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The chicken is smoked, which makes the tandoori chicken pretty amazing. The Paneer Tikki Masala is a family favorite - always very delicious We particularly enjoy the vegetarian variety at the buffet, and frequently leave the restaurant feeling like we ate WAY too much, lol. Hard to resist!

Food not bad but not good too. Nothing to write home about As they say. Something is better then nothing. If it's your lucky day then the dessert is good Other wise same standard stuff

Buffet style with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections. Food was OK but nothing noteworthy and I won’t be going back.

Extremely courteous and friendly staff and servers, quick and attentive service and the food is nothing short of high quality and amazing flavor. We closed the place down one weeknight recently and the staff didn't seem bothered at all that we stayed beyond hours to linger a bit. Would visit again and again

Best indian buffet inside the perimeter. Wide selection, good array of condiments, very popular. Variety dwarfs Panahar's selection but Panahar's food quality is superior.

A neighbor and I went to Cafe Bombay after the 2016 Bach Bowl at Emory University. The restaurant was somewhat empty. The waiter was attentive, but didn't write anything down. Based on what we'd ordered, I thought the waiter brought the wrong appetizer for me, but the charge was correct. My dining companion usually says I order the better tasting dish, but this time he thought his was better. Having been to several Indian restaurants in the area, it was a good experience. I will be checking out the Sunday buffet in about a month.

My husband is Indian and ever since I lived in India and he moved here we've been searching high and low for a place that has that "authentic" Indian food taste. So far, this is the closest we've come. The chicken biryani had the right amount of flavor and spice. The chicken tikka was about as close to the tandoori chicken that I'm used to eating in India that we've found. The aloo (potato) parantha left a little to be desired. The prices were reasonable. We ate there during dinner time when they do not have the buffet.

I had huge expectation while visiting this restaurant because of it's overrating. This restaurant disappointed me in every sense. Food was disgusting .owner and waiters both were least bothered about the service they are providing. I highly recommend NOT to visit this restaurant for indian food.

I've tried many of the numerous Indian restaurants in the Atlanta area, and keep coming back to Cafe Bombay, despite the fact it's a 30+ min drive for me. I always go for my favorita Aloo Matar, and it never disappoints. Over the years, my dining companions have had many of the other dishes on the menu and have loved them all. The vegetable samosas are particularily yummy. The staff is cordial and attentive. There are two dining rooms - the main one and the back room they use for parties. On weekend nights they open the back room for dining, and the few times I've been seated there they've had a dancer and music. I cannot recommend this restaurant strongly enough!

Been here twice. They always seem to have some good items and some bad ones. This restaurant does not get me excited.

My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for a long time now and the buffet has never disappointed us. Usually when we go we also order Malai Kofta on the side because I personally believe this is the best one i've ever tried.

I love Indian food, and I didn’t know much about this place so I decided to give it a try. It was not great, but not terrible either. The butter chicken sauce tasted like it had too much tomatoe paste, and I can taste the acidity. The naan was very thin and not much flavor. They did have great vegetarian variety, the spinach dish was really good. The dessert was not even worth the calories, but then again Indian buffers are not know for the dessert so it was expected. The service was excellent! But food was not savory enough for me to come back.

I've been eating here for ten years. The lunch buffet is always good. The food is kept fresh and there is a good selection. There is an all vegetarian buffet table and a table with meats. It is always busy, but I've never to wait more than 10 minutes.

This is by far the best Indian place I have been to. The staff is always super friendly and the food is always hot and fresh. I've even ordered take out here and haven't had any complaints about the quality or taste of the food. If you are looking for a nice quiet place to enjoy great Indian food this is it.

2nd time we have visited this restaurant. Mainly out of tradition, we were there a year ago when our son first started at Emory. Restaurant is very dingy and looks like it needs a serious clean / update. Staff are very friendly and attentive to the tables. Food is good and bad. We tried some street food aperrizers. Very nice. Shrimp sister were great. Loved the flavor. Chicken biriani was a real let down. Loooked like it was scooped from a left over Buffett line ant thrown in a microwave to reheat. 1 piece of chicken! Nan was wonderful along with the raita. Beer list is extensive. But only had 2. Thankfully one of my favorites, Legend 10,000 Great with a curry. Absolutely worst thing was a couple on the next table. Enjoying their dinner and knocking back shots. But playing thier own music from a phone. Really annoying. Complaints just had them increase the volume. Staff, take note. People playing their own music in your restaurant is never acceptable. I would have given the place 4 but this music fiasco dropped it down. Unfortunately we won’t be back. We’ll find another restaurant next time. Prices were as expected.

We have been frequent guests at this restaurant with our parents and our children. Food and service both have taken a big step back and leave a lot desirable. Yesterday the service was pathetic as if they never wanted us in the restaurant. Not recommended

This is our regular Friday dinner spot! This very casual, but cozy restaurant offers great food and service. We are treated there like long-time friends! Restaurant’s manager Rogelio is super precise, friendly, great listener, pays attention and just a nice person to be around! For all the years we’ve been going there, we tried pretty much everything on the menu. The food is great! My absolute favorite is lamb tikka masala and Bombay biriyani. Both dishes are truly special and very flavorful. I love to be treated like a friend or almost a family member when coming to a restaurant. Every server there know our favorites and are happy to see us. I absolutely recommend this restaurant!

So this review gets 4 stars as I've been craving Indian a lot lately. The food was good but I feel could have been a tad more fresh. I ate from the buffet which had a lot of the menu options for a lunch special. My friend ordered a sizzler of chicken pieces and salmon and shrimp with basmati rice... I did think the food could be more spicy and flavorful for Indian food. I was also expecting to see a selection of yogurts near the salad to eat with the food as well. All in all 4 stars but flavors were a bit blah.

Everything was so great in this restaurant - the staff, ambience, complimentary snack, the look of the bar, cleanliness, Everything until I had the main course !!!!! The curry tasted good but not the meat in it. The texture was really pathetic which made my entire dinner experience unforgivable. For the price of $14 (Non-veg thali with 2 curries), there was neither the quality nor the quantity. The only reason why I wouldn't go again here is because of my 1st impression about the food they served me. But I would like go give another chance because other than food, everything else was great.

Took a colleague out to lunch there and enjoyed the food. I do not care for salty food and most of the dishes offered here were decent. Love fresh naan and pakodas (vegetable fritters). I appreciate that they serve vegetarian and non-vegetarian separately. What I don't understand is why they don't place desserts together. The vegetarian buffet has gulab jamun and a lot of Americans pile it on with the curry. Rice pudding sits with raita and salad and people end up mixing them. I guess it all goes in the same stomach. This is probably the only buffet that includes chicken Biryani.

About 3 miles from JW Marriott Buckhead, Atlanta. Food was excellent. Tastes just like you are in India. MUST FOR NORTH INDIAN FOOD LOVERS !!

I don't review very often - usually only if something is especially good or horrendously bad. Unfortunately, this place was the latter. We had a totally unsatisfactory experience. The palak paneer was mediocre, and the chai never arrived - after three requests. The worst was the service - or more accurately, lack of service. Our waiter admitted that it took 39 minutes for our food to come out. I hadn't realized I needed to time it, but it seemed like at least that long. When I expressed my disappointment, the waiter made excuses and apologies, but they didn't ring true. He gave us a 50% price adjustment, but I would much rather have paid full price and had a good experience.

I took some of my friends for dinner to this place. The food was really good. But I felt they was not really paying attention for good customer service. The music was really loud and I had to ask the waiters couple of times to tone it down. Our table was near a door and people kept moving in and out of the door and the cold breeze coming through that door was really annoying. That was an alternate door in the restaurant and they could have kept it closed after observing the inconvenience of us.

After reading the 1-star reviews, it seems like they have a lot of bad days. We ordered two thali combination plates, one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian. The goat meat provided (one small piece) was full of fat; the chicken tasted like it was a couple of days old. The paneer tikka masala was tasted sour and the spinach was bland. It seemed like the food we were provided was days old leftovers from the buffet line. The service was okay. A minor thing that stood out: the waiter was setting the tables with cloth napkins when we asked from some and he provided us (after asking twice) with paper napkins. Will not be going back.

We visited Cafe Bombay for a celebration and it was really nice. The food was excellent and the belly dancer did a great job. It was a nice celebration and we will return.

I've been eating the buffet served by Jatindra Walia at Cafe Bombay (and at JT's prior venue, Maharaja at Northlake). I've eaten with JT several times for many years. The food, even (though lunch is served buffet style,) is excellent. It truly is a wide array of choices infused with incredible blends of flavors. The servers rarely need to ask more than "how many ?' and "would anyone like a beverage ?". I always read the worst reviews first. Frankly, they seem to have eaten at another restaurant. I've eaten here literally hundreds of times and I can eat where I want to eat. JT et al is an easy choice and I do not grade on a curve.

Someone recommended this to us on our recent trip to Atlanta, was pleasantly surprised to find Authentic Indian food with good service. The atmosphere was little dark but overall a good eating place if you need Indian food in Atlanta Indian Shopping area.

All I can say is that the food was terrible! To start with my spring rolls were dripping in fat and were Chinese egg rolls not Indian spring rolls. Why couldn't the cook have dried off the excess oil before serving them? Pools of oil on the plate and burnt half-way! When I complained I was told what do I expect they are fried! Seriously crap service. So I thought I'd play safe and have a tandoori mix grill. OMG! It was bloody awful! So spicy hot I couldn't eat more than a piece of chicken as the chilli was over-powering. My stomach ached all evening because of that meal. Tandoori meat/fish/vegetable dishes should be mild or at least the server should ask the customer if they would like their food mild, medium or hot. The paratha although huge was tasteless and dripping with oil/butter - gross! Mexican server in an Indian restaurant??? Seriously?? Then to top it all off I went into the bathroom and a male staff member was in there using the toilet. Dreadful! And btw I'm half-Indian I know when I've had a bad curry.

One of the best lamb tikka massala ive ever eaten in my life !!! nothing to say about the food, they are generous, the meat is good and the rice is so tasty. BUT... the service is really to be improved. First time we came here, we arrived at 9.30 pm (they close at 11 pm). We asked if it was too late they said no, no, no problem!! they took so long to serve us, 11pm came very fast and we hadn't finished our plates. They LITERALLY took our plates from our tables even if i still had food inside, and they brought us some boxes to take the leftovers... so rude, I was eating!!! they really kicked us out. One guy praveen is very nice and provides good service, otherwise all the others are not good at all. I have to admit, I keep going there once a week because the food is delicious :-)

I eat a lot of Indian food in the course of every year. No other Atlanta restaurant provides Indian cuisine better than Café Bombay.

This restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. In Atlantaon business, I lunched there twice to get away from the hotel and work offices. The lunch buffet consisted of two areas-one for meat dishes and the other for vegetarian dishes. Lots of variety and tasty. The back room has lovely decor although some might find it a bit noisy since it seems large parties are seated there. It did not notice but my colleague did. I prefer the decor of they room over the front room.

I decided to try this place out with my girlfriend. The inside looks nice. It took a while before the waiter came back to get our drink order. Not sure why that happened. I ordered the chicken korma and a lychee drink. My total was almost $20. I would recommend this place. However, take a person who knows the food.

Very clean, very prompt service, nice quiet atmosphere. It's a buffet, so you don't have to wait for your food.

Had lunch buffet everything on the buffet table was cold and tasteless. The dessert was also below standard. Second time bad experience

After looking from the outside and thinking the restaruant was closed, belied by the neon "Open", sign, had an excellent meal of Indian breads (plain, another with garlic spices), two different eggplant and a shrimp dish, along with rice. Service was fine and everything was reasonably priced. A bit too dark, but otherwise pleasant interior. Generous portions with enough to take a little home for later. Will definitely come here again.

We LOVE Indian food but have lost quite a few good choices in the Brookhaven area. Took a chance on Cafe Bombay and are SO HAPPY we did! These are the first papadams we've had in Atlanta that are true to (my personal) experience with native Indian cuisine over several years prior to living in ATL. SO GOOD. The Butter Chicken and the Saag Chicken were both delicious, too. Will definitely be back, either on a to-go or dine-in option.

We always go to cafe Bombay for lunch, when the buffet is offered. I can't ever remember having anything we didn't like, and especially love the Sag Paneer and Tandoori Chicken. Since they acquired the large banquet hall next door, there is always space, even when the main restaurant is filled. They are in an Indian strip mall, so you can shop for halal meat or buy your sari after lunch! We go to Cafe Bombay at least once a month.

I was here for dinner recently, and it was a great experience - not only was the food quite delicious, but they also had a belly dancer performing while the guests had their dinner. All the waiters were also very prompt and friendly. In short, it's a very good place to go for good Indian food and a very nice ambeince too.

We didn't visit the restaurant yet but we ordered in on UberEats. The goat biryani was the best we have had in Atlanta! Delicious and flavorful. The portion size was generous too. We also had the tandoori chicken wings. They were fantastic and went well with the green chutney. Now that we have tasted a slice of heaven, we will visit the restaurant too, soon soon!

I and my co-workers have been going to this place for years, lunch time is amazing and gets busy early, food is always hot and not to-spice for those of us that did not grow up eating like this, very tasty and the menu changes, and offers a wide range for all types, veggie and non-veggie. the Service is top notch, and the owners are always attentive and personable. I would eat here every day if i could.

Enjoy coming here, particularly for their extensive, yet reasonable, luncheon buffet. Cost of under $15. Ideal for informal work lunches with one or two colleagues, or for social get togethers. Have especially enjoyed their Indian spinach dishes and Indian bread. Not exactly scenic - in a mall. It is a good place for evening events as well. Have been here for an international visitors group visit with CNN correspondents from around the globe. Serving staff is cordial and there is a good selection of predominantly vegetarian options that are not overly spicy. Within walking distance in the same mall is another, more informal Indian cuisine restaurant that provides good food, but doesn't have quite the same atmosphere that Cafe Bombay has. Please do note if you find this review useful.

Passing thru and came here for lunch because my cousin lives here and recommend....WOW so glad I did. I had the Buffet but they do have a menu too. The food is fantastic...I mean fan-tab-o-u-lus. Service is very good too;never an empty glass or a dirty plate left on the table.

This is the second time we've come for lunch. Every dish was exceptional. Especially liked the Channa Masala, the saag, and the potato with green beans. All the chicken dishes were delightful. Hubby liked the goat curry, a few too many bones for me. Selection was a little different each of the days. We're planning on a dinner soon to try their lamb and Malai Kofta.

My family and I tried the lunch buffet here today and we were all impressed. The variety was very good, and the food was tasty. There were a number of chicken dishes on the buffet and a great goat curry. The naan was a bit soggy, but everything else was good. The waiters quickly removed our used dishes and kept our drinks filled. Al in all this was a great experience.

My co-workers and I regularly go to Cafe Bombay for their lunch buffet which is delicious and an outstanding value! Definitely go early or late for lunch -- it can be packed by noon. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated. All of the food is delicious but my favorites are the Baigan Ka Bharta (eggplant with spices and other veggies) and their cauliflower, potatoes, and peas. Lots of options for vegetarians here. Definitely check it out if you are in the area!

The restaurant is very clean. The buffet is good and replenished regularly. The staff could be more attentive.

Went with friends for lunch and really liked it. For lunch they serve buffet style. This is good because you can try many different things. I liked them all. The atmosphere is really nice and the service was good. I look forward to dinner service soon.

This place had really great food and a plus was that we came on a Saturday so we had a belly dancer dancing that night. Service was excellent and entertainment was too!

We come to this place all the time. The food is awesome. The buffet is our favorite way to eat here. It’s definitely with a try if you like Indian.

I don't normally say this about and Indian restaurant, but this restaurant is an exception. We have a food allergy situation and we called ahead of time. They not only took care of that when we got there, but also demonstrated professional approach in everything they had to offer. Mind you many Indian restaurants simply ignore food allergy related requests. It is a shame that the shopping center this restaurant is located is in a terrible shape. It looks like Cafe Bombay and a halal meat place are holding this center together. Food here is wonderful! It starts with the quality of Chutney they serve with starters. We tried Veg Vindaloo and Gobi Aloo Masala and they both were delicious. Their roti was authentic and all in all the result of professionalism a they seem to have adopted. The manager on duty and other waiters seemed on top of everything!

Like the lunch buffet!

We've eaten at Cafe Bombay once before and it was quite good. We also had their food at a catered Indian 'baby-shower'-type event, and it was also good. We tried the lunch buffet on a recent Saturday. The place was quite crowded around 1 p.m. They appear to have expanded into the adjacent space also. Buffets are often a hit-or-miss affair. At restaurants where I went periodically, I would occasionally have a weekend where there just wasn't any given item in the buffet that was really to my taste. That was sort of the situation here. The Saag Paneer tasted very fresh, but that isn't generally a favorite of mine. The food was generally good, it just didn't stand out above the last couple Indian buffets we've had closer to our home. Now that they have more space, CB should consider moving the actual buffet stations to somewhere with better crowd flow. They are so popular that lines can be a limiting factor during lunch. If we're in the area we'd easily go back and give this another try.

Love this place, food is always hot and fresh. Place is always packed. The goat is melt in your mouth.

We never missed to eat here for their buffet lunch which is excellent with so many choices to choose from. There are buffet for vegetarian and non vegetarian even if you are Muslims you can also it here. The service is good and price is reasonable. Parking is easy just in front of the restaurant. in the evening there is only Ala Carte at the restaurant.

I really liked this place. Good pappadoms :) Great entrees!

I love Indian food, but I am not very sophisticated. I usually eat at buffets because I don't know the names of the foods that I like and buffets give you wide choices. This is the best Indian buffet that I know of in Atlanta. I have been there about 6 or 8 times. The foods are varied and are different each visit. The service has always been friendly and very good. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Indian food. After your meal, stop by the Indian grocery store in the back of the parking lot.

The boss had the most rude attitude ive ever come across. The waiter was excellent but even he couldnt stand it and was his last day. Should tell you something when the waiter cant take it and has to quit. Id never go again!!!

The food has to be improved a whole lot!! There were a lot of items in the buffet, not even one item was decent. I have never seen chicken 65 prepared that bad!!

It's a nice Indian restaurant with good ambiance for lunch or dinner. Great variety of dishes for vegetarian and non vegetarian palates. I enjoyed the naans fresh off the oven, and the aloo gobi. The palak paneer was disappointing as there was barely any paneer to be found in the dish, and it was very oily and unappetizing. Their dessert selection was not very satisfactory but overall, I enjoyed my meal very much.

The place looks alright, they have tried to get the ambiance going, its decorated in Indian ordinance, but everything is tolerable if the food is good, but sadly that was not the case. Now I have had worse food than this, but this is right there with the bottom of the barrel, I ordered chicken tikka, Peshawari chana and Goat curry. I figured I order variety and order stuff that is more popular so chances are I would get decent food...WRONG...the chicken tikka while cooked alright, had no taste, it felt like they did not marinate it at all, it was as if, it had been thrown into spice and cooked right away. The Goat Curry was the worst offender, the gravy had no depth at all, the pieces of meat looked like as if the restaurant bought scrapes from the butcher and cooked them, pieces of fat with hint of meat here and there, The only thing which was not a complete disaster was the Peshawari chana. I think this place is catered towards the white people (no offence) but any desi (indian or pakistani ) person will take offence to the quality of food here, This place in on par with what they charge for food with other restaurants, However those restaurants serve food I can actually enjoy.

I can be very picky about Italian restaurants as an Italian, but when it comes to Indian I am the ultimate critic as I cook Indian more than Italian. Finally had a weekday off and wanted to try their buffet. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. Their Basmati rice wasn't very aromatic. There were two vegetarian dishes I tried, Palak, which I usually see as Palak Paneer. It tasted more salty than flavorful. There was paneer masala, but honestly, the paneer felt and tasted more like tofu. Chicken Biriyani was good but it had more chicken bones than chicken. There was definitely a problem with over cooking of chicken. The chicken tikka masala was hard. Can't imagine tough chicken, but then again, the other chicken dishes were over cooked...the chicken kebabs marinated in yogurt was also tough. Hard to cut with a fork. Lastly, the tandoori chicken was hit or miss. Pieces had very little meat with the way they were cut, some were dried out some not. Also disappointing was the lack of lemon wedges for the tandoori chicken. Naan bread was excellent. The rice pudding as flavorful but very soupy. Bothe the rice and the pistachio was hopped up very fine? Still searching for good Indian food.

Came here for dinner and enjoyed the vegetarian dinner with three options, and had a potato dish, spinach with cheese, and another bean dish. Came with nan bread, and dessert, along with modest portion of rice. Others had shrimp and a fish curry dish. Portions were generous, tasty, and not too spicy. Glad for a wide variety of vegetarian options. Have had lunch buffet when here on weekends, which is also excellent. Service this evening was prompt, and attentive, without being overbearing. This is a good pace for family, friends, or dates. Had not been here for quite some time, and plan to return more often. Please note if you find this review helpful.

Went there to get lunch with wife. The place was just about to fill up. We got seats pretty quickly. The restaurant is nice and spacious and our seats were comfortable. We decided to go with the buffet. Everything I tried was flavorful and delicious. My most favorite were chicken tikka masala, grilled chicken and naan. I loved the food so much that wife and I decided to come back here for dinner the next day. For dinner we got meat samosas which were cooked to perfection. The chutneys that came with the samosas were delicious. We also got lamb curry and chicken tikka masala. Both were tasty. We had kheer and masala chai for desserts. The service was great and attentive. We will be returning!

I was very pleased with my experience at Cafe Bombay. The food was outstanding and very fresh. Curry, naan, samosas were all excellent. The servings are very large and my colleague and I couldn't finish a fraction of what they served us. The manager even came over to ask us if everything was alright because we ate very little of what we ordered but the servings were simply too big. The waiters are extremely attentive, very helpful with making menu suggestions and extremely polite in explaining the taste of different dishes. The prices are excellent for what you get.

visited cafe Bombay in Atlanta recently for their buffet lunch. the restaurant was pretty roomy with large two halls with plenty of seating. The day was Monday but the place was overflowing, doing pretty neat business. The lunch was buffet style, with plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Lots of vegetable curries and daal which are normally preferred by the Indian clientele. There were lots of chicken and meat items also, which are generally liked more my pakistani's and Bangladeshi's alike. and of course not to forget the delicious biryani. on the dessert there were two items only, showing room for improvement. So overall a good mix of curry style food to meet the taste palettes of the Indo-Pak sub-con crowd. Prices were quite reasonable and also ample parking facility.
A Good Indian buffet
My daughter took me here for lunch, and everything about the experience was very good. We were quickly seated and asked if we wished anything to drink. the buffet is well laid out and the food labelled with a description. The meats are in one area, the vegetables in another, and deserts in another. The room itself is inviting and welcoming and the service unobtrusive. I am not an expert on Indian food but suffice to say I enjoyed all I loaded on to my plate. The lunch was a very pleasant experience, and I would like to go again.
