Great place to eat when in LA!

By Melmac1990 |

The food here is so fresh and delicious! We were in LA for a few days and we didn't realize it was vegan food, but we loved it and the service is really great also.

Great experience

By Marco V |

This place got it all for an amazing dinner: first of all the food of course. We were here for "Tacos night" and the tacos reinvented in a vegan way were just perfect. This sums up with a friendly service and a beautiful location, most of all if you can have a table at the patio. Excellent experience.

First time and success!

By vinmarine1 |

I have NEVER eaten at a vegan restaurant and I wanted to expand my knowledge of different types of food. This was a great experience, it all started off with our bright and beautiful waitress Ratana. She was knowledgeable, a ray of sunshine and professional. We had the French toast, the black bean burger and some delicious drinks. I was very impressed with the location, the service, the food and how gorgeous the restaurant was. Anytime I am in L.A. I will be stopping in to support this business!!!!

Gratitude is the word.

By Kate Radford Travels |

My body was grateful for the amazing menu, ingredients and drinks at Café Gratitude. As someone that has a lot of dietary requirements I really appreciated the types of food available. Really lovely fresh decor, bright and spacious and considering the quality of the food very reasonably priced. Very, very impressed.

100% organic / vegan!!!

By travelnutt1 |

Absolutely delicious. We tried the eggplant bruschetta, rose water lemonade, two corn tacos, and the kale salad. Of course these had more hip names like pure, transformed etc, but basically whatever you order is good. Our waiter was a little too chatty, but service was fine. I can't recommend the rose lemonade enough!! Wish we had room for dessert. So many delicious cakes and sweets to choose from!

Dinner with the kids

By janhyman |

Great vegan food. Really delicious food, even for people who are not vegan. Love all of the Cafe Gratitude Restaurants that I've tried.

I am amazed

By CPB1987 |

This place is possibly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. It ticked boxes I didn't even know existed. The staff, the food, the drinks, the atmosphere: this place is unbelievably amazing. You can see why it's so popular. My fiancé and I weren't expecting much when we went in and when we were greeted by an extremely friendly waiter it smashed our expectations. The food was so healthy and filling, and their quirky menu was phenomenally diverse. Of course I'm biased being a vegan but as you may see with other reviews, this place surprises meat eaters too!! MUST VISIT!!! But maybe book in advance because it was busy!

Wonderful and vegan win win

By rapattack |

Yummy and healthy!

By Christina G |

Quick service, delicious and healthy food I have never tried before. The menu made me feel very adventurous, though was pricey... but what do you expect in Hollywood?!

Excellent gluten free options!

By Kelly Y |

This is one of the best places with gluten free options for breakfast! I chose the open hearted and the pancakes were wonderful! The juice options were excellent along with the tea. Highly recommended for so wind with celiac as myself. The service was excellent also. Upbeat positive atmosphere!

best atmosphere, choices of food and smoothies

Fabulous Vegan Restaurant on Larch,ont

By Needlepointaddict |

I fell in love with this place the moment I walked in. The hostess was gracious and warm, the restaurant has a great feel to it and the food is outstanding Had the cauliflower steak which was so good and my husband had the eggplant Parmesan on a gluten free bun was was literally to die for. The service was great, the food was great nothing but praise for this wonderful cafe. I so wanted some of their fabulous looking desserts but I was so full I could not do it. Will be returning very soon to indulge in their sweets.

100% VEGAN an Earth Friendly

By vbaker64 |

The Service, Atmosphere and BEST OF ALL, the food is Amazingly FRESH and Flavorful Brightly lit, open air with seating inside and out Will highly recommend and be back! I AM SATISFIED!

Wonderful dinner for 10.

By FS_Junkie_with_kids |

Great made from scratch vegan dishes. We celebrated my daughter's 16th birthday and this restaurant provided tons of options. There is a kids' menu. For non vegans children, the best bet is probably the pasta with marinara sauce. One child didn't care for the vegan mac n cheese. Love the message of ordering by affirmation as well as the Gratitude Wall across the parking lot. We had such a great experience that we visited the Venice location for breakfast a few days later. Highly recommend.

Amazing Vegan Food

By Donna R |

We picked this restaurant for our last night in LA and it was a great way to end our trip. We picked it because it advertises itself and 100% organic and is entirely a plant-based menu with food from local farmers. Although I am not a vegan, I love vegan food and it is hard to come by in the suburban Philadelphia area. I was so glad we picked this restaurant! The menu was extensive and it was hard to pick what to order. You might want to study it before you come so you don't waste time trying to decide. We ordered a glass of wine, but also could not resist getting a glass of their homemade Kombucha. It was delicious, as was the wine. We each got the vegan pizza that came with a salad. A night, light dinner. We would definitely eat here again and wish this restaurant would come to Philadelphia!

Poor service for good food

By Daniel M |

Food is always good but service is poor. Wouldn’t sit us outside because they were waiting on other larger reservations. (We had reserved). Tables were still empty when we left. Poor customer service. Servers spent more time chatting to each other than looking after customers. No toilet tissue in the men’s room. Probably my last time here

Hooray, Tim and Katie!

By Jeeyoung L |

A huge kudos to the team led by Katie! My mother and I are long-time customers of Cafe Gratitude almost since the opening of the Larchmont location. We've seen many mangers and staff come and go, but our last visit (the first in a long time because we live 90 minutes away now) was the best by far thanks to stellar customer service by Tim and a Ritz-Carlton-level service by Katie. Tim was easygoing, upbeat, and pleasant from beginning to end, and Katie took care of a rewards redemption issue so easy. She treated the matter as if I were spending hundreds of dollars instead of her giving me credit on my account. I must admit to deciding to stop frequenting Cafe Gratitude because of an offensive remark made by a previous management staff, but I'm so glad my mother and I gave it one more try. Tim and Katie made us (almost) forget the bad BAD experience from before and reminded us that the previous person was an exception--not the norm--of the Cafe Gratitude philosophy. We may be moving back to LA in the next year or so, and if we do, all of my business meetings will be there at Larchmont. Tim and Katie deserve a raise, promotion, both, or some sort of acknowledgment by the company because they are the perfect representation of what I've always thought Cafe Gratitude stood for: respect for all life, pride in excellence, and pure joy for life. (For future customers, go when it's not Sunday or Monday because that's Katie's normal days off. Just meet her, and you'll see what I mean!)

The best vegan margarita pizza we have ever had!

By cassandrah1994 |

Previously we have gone to the one in Venice, we were excited to try this one in Melrose Ave as we were in the area. My partner and i ordered the margarita pizza (Special of the day) and the CG Double Double (black bean pattie, tomato, red onion, chipotle ketchup, cashew macadamia cheddar). When the food came out it looked amazing and tasted even better!! Since being vegan, the cheese aspect has been hard to adjust to as most taste funny or too much like coconut but this pizza was incredible and we wanted to order another. The Double Double was yummy too! The service is always great here and it is one of our favourites when we come to LA.

Yummy pretty and healthy

By OrielaMedelllin |

Its a vegan place with a positive concept, always full, the food makes you feel satisfied and its all very healthy and yummy although is a bit expensive for what it is . Love the ambiance and the I AM statements

Good food, felt they were rather obvious in trying to kick us out so they could serve table again.

By elrossoff |

I go there quite often when in LA, love the food and usually great service as well. This time was different. Had a reservation for 1PM which they honored perfectly, then at 12:40, they were rushing to take the plates out, even when food left, without even asking. Then at 12:50, we get the woman at the entrance who tells us we have 15 minutes, as the table is reserved for other people. For a restaurant who claims: Love, Serve, Remember, there was little love, very quick service with no remembering what their purpose statement is. Not a good experience. Thought that it was rude, and for a Sunday, not a great experience. If money is their main goal, then it's quite hypocritical to claim Love, Serve, Remember, when they show little of that.

Simply Fresh and delicious

By Veyra82 |

As soon as we entered, we could smell the freshness in the air! Everything: our teas, sandwiches and desserts were simply delicious. The names of the dishes in their menu are also given quite a bit of thought. Very interesting in every way!!!

My Favorite Restaurant

By 2016MikeAndrews2016 |

Not just this location, but this chain of restaurants has to be my most favorite. I choose to come here often and for a purpose! The food is simple yet tasty. Grown on their ow organic farm, supporting non-GMO ingredients, I feel happy eating here knowing that it's genuinely healthy for everyone to eat at. Depending on the time you come here, it can be extremely busy, but well worth the wait. Great, attentive service, and great portion sizes (though it is still quite pricey). If you're vegan and trying to do well to your body, you can't miss out!!!

Lunch for two

By tiffanysianp |

Cool vibe, relaxed lunch. Stylish decor. Visit yesterday with my sister who is not vegan and she loved it as much as I did. Great ingredients. The burger and milkshake is a must!

Get your Vegan On!

By Robertiskute |

Love Cafe Gratitude. Food is amazing and the laid back vibe is great. You order with an affirmation, e.g., " I am ....." and leave feeling healthy and happy.

Amazing Vegan Food

By Marla M |

I would say that this place is one of my favorite Los Angeles eateries. The food is organic, creative, delicious and fresh. And I love that they have kamboucha, and fresh juices. Awesome vegan desserts, I mean you just can't go wrong. It is also very trendy and a great place to people watch.

Great vegan food

By GlobalFoodReviewer |

Had lunch here with a friend. The food was amazing, although it was vegan it was so tasty. Who needs meat! The desserts were fantastic too. We shared a key lime pie and a coconut cream pie all made without dairy products and they were so good. Everything was reasonably priced and the service was great. Can thoroughly recommend.

Good vegan/vegetarian restaurant

By 3448483georgemcfly |

We only tried the soups and they were good. The rest of the menu looked good. It is not a cheap restaurant but you will for sure eat a healthy meal.

"I am..." AWESOME!

By Cleomissy |

Those in the know, know the proper way to order. "I am" prefaces the menu item that you are ordering as in "I am Awesome" - a most excellent eggplant parmesan panini. My husband was very happy with his "Magical" veggie burger. Unfortunately our server disappeared for at least 20 minutes after greeting us but eventually returned to take our order. Following dinner we continued down Larchmont Blvd. and had dessert at Salt & Straw ice cream.

Don't walk..Run!

By phisheads |

This is one of the best places I've ever eaten. I am a gluten free type of person, this place is my kind of place. The manager Kaya helped us navigated the complete and delicious menu. He encouraged us to try all kinds of yummy vegan treats. I can't recommend any particular dish because they were all amazing. We even went back the next day to try more! There is ample free parking under the restaurant. The staff was amazing and friendly.

Really good vegan food with a lot of choices

By dmccracken |

Fabulous food. Both savory and sweet. I really liked the apple cake. It was hard to choose but the four of us exploded the menu and everything was good. The orders arrived very quickly.

Great food and patio with shades for the cooler weather

By Sunlady56 |

We walked in and got a table at 7pm on a Tuesday without delay. We opted to sit out on their patio with the see through shades down as it was a chilly evening. They have heaters out there as well. I tried the 3 tacos sampler and it was good. I should have read the food description more thoroughly as I would have preferred all vegetarian, but that's on me. The service was good and we didn't feel rushed to get in and out quickly. I hope to try it again some other time!

Why are vegan dishes so timidly seasoned?

By Bagan |

I'm not a vegan, although I love vegetables and light fare. A friend gave us a dining certificate here, so we gave it a try but won't be back if we have to spend our own money. Maybe somebody can explain to me what that characteristic smell is in heavy-duty health-food stores. This is the first sensory impression walking into this clean, sunny restaurant. Idk but glad nasal senses tire after awhile. As a cultural experience -- the LA Vegan scene -- it's fascinating. There are divorced dads pushing veggies on their skeptical kids, there are couples on dates, there are lots of ladies but more men than I usually see in Vegan eateries. We took the waiter's suggestions. The guacamole was creamy and lush, basically mashed avocado with a touch of lime and salt. The seeded gluten-free "crackers" that came with it had more flavor than I had expected, and didn't rely on salt for it (unlike tortilla chips). But the Indian Curry Bowl that was so highly recommended was unbelievably bland. How can that be? The ingredients were fine but I can't understand why anyone would want to assemble a spice-free pseudo Indian dish. I'll leave this place to the true believers.

Grateful for VEGAN food!

By Lin V |

We had a lovely lunch with my niece - a wide variety of excellent dishes, great service, lovely atmosphere to sit out on the patio and watch the world go by.. the parking can be a little funky in beach cities so we UBERed over.. I don't think you can go wrong with any menu selection. They ask a "question of the day" which is meant to be a conversation starter for those in need, or at the very least, something to reflect upon while enjoying a great meal.

Living it

By salbal2255 |

One of the great things about Social Media is that it allows you to make lists of places you'd love to visit right around the globe. Cafe Gratitude was one on my list. I'd read huge much and had huge expectations. From the perspective of Melbourne, Paris or New York, I am now prepared to not be wow-ed, to be underwhelmed by the setting of restaurants in LA. Rare is to find a beautiful heritatge building or a super groovy, OTT fit out.In LA, restaurant culture is all about the substance of the food and the calibre of professionals creating for you, a unique experience. Cafe Gratitude feels like a low key cafe beside a car park in West Hollywood. There is some outdoor seating while inside is heavily air-conditioned. But put all that aside and be greeted by a member of a super-race. At Cafe Gratitude you'll be looked after by some of the healthiest people on the planet, loving what they do and appreciative of an opportunity to share with you Gratitude love. 100% Organic Vegan Cuisine. Okay, in walking in the door you are submitting to a world of new principles and you're going to need to leave your smirky, meat-based chide out in the parking lot. Get ready to order, it's going to take you a while to choose, so read carefully. Remind yourself that tapping into your desire for Kale served ten ways is a lifestyle thing. Now vocalise your desire - without an ounce of cynicism, to a gorgeously tanned and toned and beaming guy or girl for .... and go : I'll have the Fabulous Followed by Joy - and to drink -- I'd really like to be Complete. You could be under the impression that Cafe Gratitude is taking its self just a tad too seriously. But then your food arrives. And Oh My God - the Fabulous - a raw lasagne - is FABULOUS. Writing this back in Australia, if I could get my hands on a piece of that little baby right now, I'd be a very happy someone. If this is vegan food, sign me up.

Took a quite while to get service but good food

By Rebecca J |

Great selection for any vegans or vegetarians out there. It feels like a hip/posh place with really great interior and atmosphere. The food is quite good and good portions. Overall would highly recommend.

Good vegan restaurant

By BarefootTom |

Stopped by here for lunch. Good food, excellent service. Good place to spot celebrities. It's vegan food done well. Moderate price. Was $65 for three of us before tip.

Lovely

By Ben T |

This is a really nice and relaxed venue. A great little place to stop and refresh with a good energy and nice menu. One of the best I’ve been to in the area.

Everything is good!!!

By Anna M |

Best wholesome food at this place. Always happy with anything I order off the menu. In particular the I am whole macro bowl is delicious! And you walk away feeling satisfied and healthy:) The elixirs and teas are really good too. And the deserts. Basically everything is yum.

Gratitude to go !

By Carolina |

Delicious flavours, fulfilling bowls, caring and curing approach, good food, wonderful vegan menu, friendly staff, beautiful venue. Yes, we recommend. Love the experience! And the gratitude is authentic

I'm a fan!

By Jenn R |

I am not a vegan, nor a vegetarian, but I still LOVE this place. I had a fabulous lavendar lemonade, and then two starters. The food was full of flavor, fresh and seemed healthy while also being quite filling. Everyone can enjoy a delicious meal here, regardless of then choice of diet. I look forward to being more adventurous on my next visit.

Great service, nutritious food

By FayeJennifer |

Amazing food to nourish your body at any time of the day. All food is vegan and super healthy and good for you. The menu has lots of choice and is very well priced. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito. Perfect for everyone no matter what age you are. Staff are very friendly and there's usually an inspirational quote of the day which is a really nice touch. A unique place, i just wish there were more of them! :)

Tell the staff how you're feeling and allow them to suggest something awesome!

By salbal2255 |

I've sat at the bar. I've sat at a table. I've got take away. Cafe Gratitude clearly is a cult and I want in. Find here some of the most savvy operators in the game. Irrespective of the type of food - read vegan, but taste only joy - these kids have got it happening. If I lived in LA, I'd head in every single day. Congrats people.

Great food and staff

By MalinLowdahl |

Fresh and healthy food in a nice and warm atmosphere. As a guest you can park your car in their garage for free. We went there twice while staying in LA for 3 days. Enjoy!

Love the atmosphere!

By Thomas T |

Every time i visit a Cafe Gratitude my experience is amazing! The staff is almost always on point, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is so lovely. I admire the positive/ grateful affirmations everywhere. The only downside to this place is that some of the dishes are a little pricy for what they serve you. I definately recommend this joint to all my vegans out there!

Tastiest food

By Grace M |

The vegan food here is extremely nourishing and tasty. The staff were kind and the cafe itself was relaxing and cozy.

A splurge, but worth it

By EmanneercsAllowed |

Easily the best meal we had in Los Angeles. Once you get past the affirmations, the menu has the biggest array of vegan/vegetarian options around. Even meat-eaters, like my cousin, will find something to love. The four of us all ordered different dishes and drinks and everything was sublime. In a perfect world, I would have every meal at Cafe Gratitude for the rest of my life. The interior is not fancy -- more like a diner than an upscale restaurant -- but what it lacks in ambience, it makes up 1000-fold in flavor and freshness.

Great food and attitude

By jjsk63 |

Oh my, I cannot say enough about this little spot. Nice atmosphere, super friendly service and healthy food that will fill you up!!! We all found something yummy on the menu.

Great vegan food!

By jchan3 |

Pleasantly surprised for my first vegan dining experience. I had the French toast and it was so delicious. Service was really good too!

Really Enjoyed This Place!

By Cinda10 |

This is a wonderful place to eat for vegans and non-vegans alike! The restaurant itself is very clean and fresh and just gives you a relaxing feel. Our waitress - Jayden - was so very friendly and helpful that when we left we felt we had a friend!!! The menu is diverse and full of so many wonderful sounding dishes that it is really difficult for first timers like us to decide. Jayden did her best to help us decide and she did an excellent job! We ordered the FLOURISHING braised asparagus arancine and the DYNAMIC yam cauliflower samosa chaat. The first one was good, but we LOVED the second one which was an amazing samosa with an amazing tomato type chutney with it. The TRANSFORMED two corn tacos were also delicious, but we did not really care for the WARM-HEARTED grilled polenta. The polenta did not have enough flavor and I really did not like the sauces served with it. There are so many other things on the menu that I want to try that I can't wait to go back!!!

Great but not really my thang

By Gibbo1969 |

I'll be honest, I was dragged here by wife and daughter for brekkie. I am so not a vegan and was not looking forward to it. Having said that I was pleasantly surprised, I had the burrito and it was very tasty, quite filling and although I felt would have been improved by adding bacon and eggs I was impressed. Girls enjoyed their stuff. Great service, a bit pricey though but worth a go for something different

Not a vegan but still a fan

By s r |

I'm the furthest thing from a vegan as you can probably get, but I will say the food here is fantastic. I had the pizza and was extremely impressed. I would definitely come back here

Delicious

By adamlondon |

Delicious and inventive food, beautifully designed modern place, friendly atmosphere. We waited a bit long for our food but it’s worth the wait. Amazing coffee!

Very Underwhelmed

By MagyarfromCA |

My mostly vegetarian family and I were so excited to try this spot. We were a party of 10 people, so we made a point to order a lot of different things. Sadly, almost everything we had was really mediocre, with the exception of the delicious juices. We're very lucky to live in Northern California, where we have access to a lot of outstanding vegan and vegetarian food, and we were hoping to find equally good food in LA (especially when it's as hyped as this spot). The oyster mushroom po boy was particularly weird - giant, woody chunks of mushroom and a very bland sauce. And the "Chipotle" style bowl I had was no better than what you'd get at a fast food spot. We did end up finding outstanding vegan food elsewhere, so we'll leave this very popular spot to those who like this bland and fairly uninteresting spot.

Healthy with flavor

By cmlvngstn |

The dishes were unique, healthy and incredibly tasty. DIshes were beautifully presented with loads of color. We would definitely go back. Wonderful service.

Must Tyr

By PuneMehtas |

Should not be missed! The place is nicely done. We are vegetarians & had enough options to choose from. We enjoyed our evening. Must try Fabulous (Raw Vegetable Lasagna) & Humble (Indian Curry Bowl - red lentil dal, spinach, roasted garnet yams, coconut mint chutney, spicy tomato jam, brown rice) Thanks

Best Vegan

By Valentina D |

I totally loved the idea behind this place, original, new, fresh.... Nice and clean location, great personnel, fresh/ bio ingredients and curious tastes combinations...loved it! We would really need more of these type of places. Absolutely must try...not recommended instead for people who does not like veggies :D

I Shall Return

By czardy |

What a treat! I love this place! Feast on guilt free healthy food. I’m actually on a plant based diet that’s why I really appreciate restaurants like this. Specially when I feel lazy to prepare my own food. This is a must try place for everyone who is looking into healthy and fashionable food.

Vegan restaurant with many gluten free options!

By Fromjessicaskitchen |

We aren't vegan but have gluten, dairy, and egg allergies at home so I know it is always safe to eat here. No meat since it is a vegan restaurant but so many choices that are filling and tasty. Parking is always hard in this area so plan extra time.

Delicious Vegan restaurant with a great message

By Angelina Zeppieri |

Great experience and delicious vegan food, even those of us who are typically carnivores really enjoyed everything. Each menu item is labeled as a positive characteristic (such as Fabulous, Illuminated, Warm-hearted, etc.) and you have to order by saying "I Am... Fabulous" and so on. A very positive dining experience. Appetizer recommendations: samosa and buffalo cauliflower. For entree I had the raw vegetable lasagna and it was amazing!

So happy and satisfied

By MWashatkaphotography |

I have been to 3 different locations and each place I have received amazing service and the food is incredible! Wish we had one of these where I live. Def recommend.

Delicious waffle!

By Carolyn Burgess |

Amazing desserts here, this dessert cafe is perfect! We've eaten there twice and had the same both times since it was so delicious!

Good food for the body and mind. . .

By Cattylea |

I'm not a vegan nor a new age proponent, but I love great food that's well-prepared and appreciate exceptional service. Café Gratitude delivers both consistently. There is such an immediate fresh flavor with the first bite, and I love savoring the nuances of each ingredient! Dishes have beautiful names which signify good states of well-being. My favorites are "transformed," a delicious dish of corn tacos and "abundant," a delicious dish of vegan cheese, roasted pepper, olive, pickled veggies and warm crostini. I often choose the refreshing ginger lemonade or the "divine" juice blend of beets, apple, lemon, & ginger. Each server upon taking an order, will leave a word for those at the table to ponder and discuss. I feel all my senses revived after a visit . I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. Parking can be a bit tricky. It's best to find an unmetered spot a few blocks away and walk in since the small lot is usually full.

Vegan Deserts

By pauljalessi |

If you are a vegan and or eat on the healthy side, Cafe Gratitude is a place for you. There are some pretty good selections of salads, shakes and deserts. Plus there is outside patio seating with shade so you can enjoy the fresh air and not get too much sun.

"A MUST"

By M-Evan-Chen |

Cafe Gratitude's mission statement on their food and people is "a celebration of aliveness". One definitely feels nourished physically and spiritually after eating here. From the tranquil ambience to the exquisite and creative food, Cafe Gratitude is a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. Four of us went for lunch mid-week and we all raved about the food. (and these were meat eaters except for me). There were so many interesting choices on the menu, it was hard to decide, but we chose the following dishes: We started out with their 'cream' of broccoli soup. Absolutely divine. "Fulfilled salad" consisted of mixed greens, carrots, beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, sprouts, avocado, teriyaki almonds accompanied by a raw flax cracker and a tasty fig/balsamic dressing. The "Awesome", which consisted of herb cornmeal crusted eggplant, grilled panini bread, marinara sauce, cashew ricotta tomatoes, Brazil nut Parmesan, arugula, basil and a side mixed green salad; also with the fig/balsamic dressing. Next was the "Hearty" raw pizza with a mixed mushroom medley, Kalamata olives, arugula, capers, sundried tomato marinara, cashew mozzarella, brazil nut parmesan, cashew ricotta, sunflower seed crust and a side caesar salad. What lovely, bountiful meals. We would have loved to order one of Cafe Gratitude's smoothies or wellness elixirs and a dessert, but we were so content with our meals, we decided to save that treat for our next visit. The service was outstanding in every aspect and we felt very warm and welcome. How unique to be given a 'question of the day'. We highly recommend this 'breath of fresh air', delightful restaurant.

Great

By Salpy D |

I've been looking forward to visiting this place for the longest time! Finally convinced my bf - whose not a vegan that we should head for lunch. I got the I AM - Grateful community bowl which donates to 'kiss the ground' foundation with kale and black beans and my bf after a long read of the long menu tried the i am Honest wrap. He didn't like it, did not finish it. I loved my dish i loved everything about the menu - local well thought organic and healthy! Also get a juice or a smoothie with your food - i am vibrant green juice is amazing! It's worth a visit and you have so many choices out of salads wraps sandwhiches but id recommend you go for a bowl. Also we shared the I am PRESENT (autumn bruchetta) as an appetizer which we both loved !

very good

By Kai C |

I must confess I was impressed by the quality of the food and the beauty of the presentation. The stuffed phyllo had a perfect balance of taste, consistency, colors and flavors. The beets were marinaded in a way that brought out a fullsome tartiness i've never experienced before. Excellent espresso. The pomegranate pudding disappointed (dry and flavorless) but the overall experience was very good. I was a solo customer, had a window table and was not rushed which in my book is a testament to the quality of the staff at this place. Which was friendly and in-the-present-moment, which is all-too rare. Reasonable prices. I used to go to CG in SF before they closed down. This place is even better.

Nice vegan place with good prices

By SebastianShortway |

This place has a lot of tasty vegan dishes that even part-time vegans will appreciate. Prices are not too crazy and the service is very helpful. The ordering by means of saying..I am...(choice) is a bit of a stretch, but their intention is good.

Great vegetarian food

By P P |

I had not been to the Larchmont location before. We usually go to the Venice location when I visit LA. We had the same great experience I have come to expect at Cafe Gratitude: good food, friendly service, and so many gluten free menu choices, it's hard to decide what to get! Thanks, Cafe Gratitude!

Clean Food Good Atmosphere

By Charles W |

The kind of place where after you finish a meal you feel proud of yourself. The food is unique, clean, and nourishing.

The Best Vegan food in Los Angeles!

By blissmama |

I have eaten at Cafe Gratitude multiple times since it's opening in Larchmont. Every meal has been amazingly delicious, filling, and consistent! After doing a wonderful 10 day cleanse last month, I chose Cafe Gratitude to be my go to place for my first meal. Needing something organic, vegan, gluten free and fresh.. where else would I go?? My tastebuds were heightened during the cleanse, so when I took my first bite into my MicroBowl, I had a quick launch to heaven! My whole meal (of which I could only eat 1/3 since I filled up quickly) was a sensual, satisfying, healthy wonder! I have tried other Vegan restaurants in the Los Angeles area, but truly this is my number 1 favorite! Thank You Cafe Gratitude!

Nice vegetarian food

By DB L |

I'm not a vegetarian but enjoyed the food very much. It was a little before lunch time so the restaurant was not busy. The service was good and so was the food. I would come back again in the future.

The BEST cafe

By Pingu |

What a wonderful place ♥️ We were given a warm welcome by the host and seated in the most beautiful, cosy cafe after coming in from the rain. We were then attended to by the happiest waiter in the world - Crawly. He was so enthusiastic about the food they serve, he explained everything on the menu in detail, asking us what we were after and then advising what would be best. He had the biggest smile and really made our day. The food was absolutely delicious, so tasty and filling but not heavy at all so we could go about being tourists in the city the rest of the day. We wish this was our local. Thank you to all of the friendly team, the chefs for the fantastic food, the barista for the brilliant coffee. But the biggest thank you to Crawly for given us the best service.

Pleasantly surprised

I'll admit that I was scared to eat here. I did it for my daughter, who--while not a strict vegetarian--eats almost no meat. But vegan seemed extreme to me, as a meat-eater. We were visiting from the east coast, and--in addition to appealing to my daughter's meatless preferences--this place just sounded quintessentially Californian. We loved reading on the web site the names they have given the dishes...."Trusting," "Abundant," "Present"....The recipes and food preparation at Cafe Gratitude are clearly in the hands of experts and creative geniuses. The flavors and textures were exquisite. The best thing on the menu, though, in my opinion, was a beverage rather than a food. The smoothie called "Cool," made with cashew-coconut ice cream, fresh mint leaves and raw cacao nibs was incredible. We've tried several times since we got home to recreate it and have fallen short! That smoothie alone would be worth the trip, but I also recommend that all carnivores give cashew-based cheeses and bean-or nut-based entrees a go at least once. And if you are going to try on veganism for one meal, this is the place to do so. Maybe it won't be you last vegan meal! Indeed, if I had a Cafe Gratitude near me, I'd go regularly! The service and atmosphere were as good as the food...a very nice experience all-around.

The Most Beautiful Cafe

By Kevin Orosz |

Have gratitude. Have peace and lunch together. Have loving conversations as our waitress asks the table what they are most abundant about in their life currently. This is likely the best vegetarian and vegan food you will ever have, in a fantastic, wholesome environment. Namaste.

Creative and good food

By Adam H |

This place seemed costly to me, but definitely worth it. The kids were quite happy as well. Food options were quite creative and satisfying (speaking as a person who is not vegan).

Amazing place

By VeganVacation |

Great vegan cuisine and friendly staff. Their mission statement is awesome too. I'd def recommend this place to everyone. Bonus: Jason Mraz sings about this place in his song, "Make it Mine". ;)

Great Vegan Food and Atmosphere!

By pickytraveler58 |

Great vegan food with friendly staff! We ordered a pizza and it was delicious! I'm not a vegan, but the vegan food I did have on our trip to Hollywood/Los Angles was very good; I'm impressed!

We are gratitude fans - But this one missed the mark

By Tom D |

Gratitude Cafe is a haven for Vegan / Vegetarian eaters in Cali. You come to expect high quality through the whole experience. My only complaint is that the restaurant was filthy. The floor had food and debris all over it. We got there at 8am in the morning and it looked like it had not been cleaned. The fit out is smaller than the other Gratitude's we have eaten at so i think the attention to detail is down. The experience was one of a fast food roll out where the original idea loses its purpose and focus on high quality... If i owned this chain of restaurants - I would visit this store immediately. We then attended the Gratitude in Newport. It was sublime....

If near Melrose and HUNGRY drop in for a bite!

By Jeff S |

Found this quite conveniently up the road from Baby-cakes bakery. Had never really eaten in a raw restaurant before so it took some time to browse the menu and decide what I wanted to have. We asked in the bakery for nearby options and they (self-professed non-vegans) pointed us to Cafe Gratitude. (Always a good sign!). Plus, Cafe Gratitude was on my list of places to try so bonus that we were so close by! Outdoor seating was pretty much full so we sat inside. Staff were very friendly and were helpful in answer any questions we might have about the menu. I opted for the GRATEFUL community bowl with qunioa (Shredded kale, black beans, garlic tahini sauce, local brown rice or quinoa.) Interestingly, profits from this bowl go to charitable organizations that we (the restaurant) are inspired by. It was warm and very tasty! Prices were in the same neighborhood as the other vegan places we'd visited so far. Location was very nice! Would go back, and would like to sit outside next time. *Available by donation for To-Go customers only. Minimum donation -3

Amazing veggie food but a little pricey!

By LauraM |

It's so hard to find great vegetarian restaurants like this. The food here was just perfect! If it wasn't so expensive we would have eaten here every night. Everything is so fresh and a little different to you usual veggie food. Great atmosphere inside. The restaurant was busy and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table but even a longer wait would have been soooo worth it. The main courses are WELL worth the money. However, the wine and the starters are a little expensive a feel. Our starter was the same price as my main dish and $12 for a small glass of wine? Not sure if this is normal in the U.S. but a little pricey for us! Overall great restaurant and staff! They also give you a question of the day to ponder over which I think was a great touch! Thanks for a lovely experience. Try the spring rolls starter ( pricey but worth it) and the curry bowl!!

A Definite

The food is tasty, the vibe is chill. Outside seating for perfect weather. Try the mushroom carnitas are delicious!

I am grateful!

By Yolanda84 |

What a great restaurant. The staff were funny, informed, sweet and helpful. The restaurant itself is really stunning with great seats, fun artwork and a great outdoor area. You can eat or take it to go, and there are even gifts and Tshirts for sale. The food was AMAZING. Honestly, it would please vegans, veggies and carnivores. Great flavours, interesting combinations and seasonal options. There was something for everyone and hands down it was one of the best vegan meals I have eaten. What I loved was not only were the food and drinks spectacular but the whole ambiance of the place was great. You could happily take friends for a special dinner with wine and no one would realise they were in a 'vegan place' I loved it. I wanted to eat everything on the menu and cannot wait to go back!

Great food

We went to Gracias madre and had a great meal, so decided to try Cafe Gratitude as well. We each had bowls and they were very filling and so delicious. I ate every drop.

Get grateful with a beautifully delicious little slice of LA life...

By AlexandraL23 |

Cafe Gratitude is the kind of place you're either going to love or hate and all I can do is urge you to give it a shot because it's one of the best things you'll do today. If you want somewhere unusual to eat, if you want to feel welcomed and relaxed, if you're after nothing but healthy, organic, natural food that will surprise and delight you with it's flavour and goodness, you cannot beat Cafe Gratitude. From the moment I read about it online, I knew I wanted to visit it and I was not disappointed. You may not recognise everything on the menu and you may be surprised if you're asked 'what you feel welcome for today' but actually, step back, be adventurous and try something different. You may just find you like it. In fact, if you order anything with coconut bacon, I promise you will! Delicious food

Delicious, fresh food in a nice ambiance. Everything tastes fresh with a nice balance of healthy and indulgent. Loved the acai bowl.

Really Great Food

By rrwidow |

We met our friends here for dinner and were not disappointed! It wasn't fancy but it was very nice and the food was great, a lot of things to choose from, it was kinda hard to decide on just one! You weren't rushed and food came out spaced nicely. Service was very good and our waitress was very friendly. Would I eat here again, of course whenever we are in a city that has this cafe!

Enjoyed being magical

Two in our party were vegan and they were very happy with all the choices. We non vegan enjoyed the change. We had magical, original, enthusiastic and eclectic.

Bland Vegan Factory

By greek1970 |

Super difficult to get a table. Had to sit in their enclosed outdoor seating area with some heating lamps frying me from above. I felt like being in a campus cafeteria. I have been here once more for lunch and it felt better. But for dinner and having the 12$ wine per glass served in a glass without stem and eat the most garlicky (they put garlic in everything-seriously) and ridiculously named, bland, food made it not that great.

Wonderful vegan food.

By Bob D |

Café Gratitude is all organic and all vegan. The portions are adequate and the food is delicious. Additionally, the menu is varied, offering something for everyone's taste. A must try is the buffalo cauliflower; amazing how they can make something so healthful so delicious.

Amazing food options. So much flavor!!

By Julie Oldfield |

On a business trip with a colleague who is vegan. I always like to find vegan options for her, and this place did not disappoint. The restaurant had a great vibe and the staff was super friendly. All the menu options were perfect, and I'm not vegan. We both had bowls and were blown away by the flavors. I would highly recommend!!

Delightful, Delicious and Worth it!

By twolinz |

We met friends for a Friday night dinner (one is vegan). Our first time at Cafe Gratitude. I couldn't have enjoyed it more. The staff and service were amazing and the food was wonderful. Well flavored, good portions and presentation. The soup, polenta and chili bowl were very nice. I will definitely go back.

Brilliant Place

By Mal S |

Having just arrived at our accommodation in LA, we dropped our bags off and decided to wander a little. One block away and Susie and I found this place and we were in for a real treat! We decided on two small dishes for sharing. The salad was a raw pesto and kelp noodle with arugula...it was so very delicious. The pizza was the chefs special with eggplant and it was also extremely tasty. I accompanied this with a glass or two of pinot noir which was just spot on to accompany the food. We finished off with a shared slice of key lime pie which was refreshing and clean on the palate. No doubt we will return for more of the same! The ambience was great, and all of the staff were very warm and helpful. This us a great little place which we both look forward to going back to on our short holiday.

Absolutely, positively, the best!

By Michael K |

Wow. Try everything and share! My first time at this location. We had macro bowls, kelp noodles, pizza, soup, and omg.... The brownie dessert cannot be missed! Healthy - organic - delicious!

Amazing flavorful food

Was dragged to cafe gratitude with a vegan friend. Was not really into it but was positively surprised. Food was so tasty and a lot of flavor in the food. Not bland at all which was what I thought. Will come again when I visit LA.

Gratitude everywhere

Glad to find a nice place full of vegan gratitude in L.A. Thank you for your food, nurishing me while making sports.. Wonderful city with wonderful people, I really like to come here when I can.

Delicious Vegan Food

By Grace K |

Not a full time vegan, but do enjoy a good vegan meal and this place was DELICIOUS. Started out with the buffalo cauliflower, definitely didn’t taste like typical buffalo, but I enjoyed the taste still. By far my favorite part though was my main meal, the blackened tempeh Caesar wrap. It was so delicious and the flavors all went so well together. The tempeh was super crispy. Side salad had some refreshing dress too. Overall, I LOVED this place. Their whole outlook and mission is amazing and everyone who worked there was so kind.

Healthy and delicious

By ToesGo |

A range of healthy and delicious-looking dishes (based on what we saw being served around the place). Three of us all had the same kale salad and enjoyed it though it was definitely better with the kimchi on top. Cosy patio, friendly service. And a great view of the "Hollywood" sign from the street.

VEGANITE!

By Samantha V |

WOW! when you go there you feel so calm and sane! everything is good at taste and if you are allergic to something it's you're place!

Vegan at its best!

By Nancy D |

The thing is I'm not vegan. Friends brought me here because they love the menu and the "positive" names and descriptions of the various entrees and dishes. The atmosphere is lovely. The service is very good. But, for me the food was fair. I think if you are vegan, this place would be heaven with its wide variety of offerings. But if you're not vegan, I'm guessing other restaurants would be a better choice. I sampled food from everyone's plate. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was the best thing I tasted. I was not a fan of the vegan desserts. My friends seem to like the desserts and food more than me.

An LA Restaurant

By cameraguy52 |

Went to Cafe Gratitude the last night of my 5 day vacation to see my son who moved to LA last summer. He wanted to take me to a LA restaurant, with a wink. It's a wonderful place and I'm so glad we went. He's a vegan so he visits here when people come to visit. Everything was nice, staff, food, atmosphere. Rebecca was our server and she was so nice and helpful. I can't wait to visit my son - LA - and Cafe Gratitude.

Really fun, good, clean food

By Viko J |

Cafe Gratitude is a really unique restaurant. As vegetarians this is a bit of heaven. In addition the service is great and different. I like the way you have to order starting with "I am". Food wise: The food options are huge. My wife and I tried different options for starters and main. The food we found was both good and mediocre. On the positive all the food was fresh, very clean and great quality. Some of the Indian options were exceptionally spiced. On the negative, my main came out cold (was replaced quickly though) and some dishes tastes really bland. Now you can put this down to it being raw but there are no excuses for poor seasoning. Service and atmosphere: Service was great, the waitress spent a lot of time explaining to us the menu. It's a really nice scene too. Love the concept and would recommend! It's on the expensive side too so just be aware a full three courses with a drink will come to over $80-90 for two people.

Please fix ordering on your web site.

By Isenn |

There is a lot of love about this place. However, it's almost impossible to consistently order on their site. Required fields are hidden in drop downs, and credit cards stop working randomly. It's difficult to get a new card accepted. Every time I try to order it's an ordeal to hunt and peck through the site to figure out how to make an order go through. Please hire a proper web developer. This could be fixed so easily.

Amazing!

By Danbue5621 |

Me and my girlfriend are both vegan and had an amazing meal here, service was perfect food was all fresh, tasty and reasonable healthy.

Happy

By Deborah L |

I'm never unhappy when I'm dining there! Seriously you can be sure that you are welcome and in a place where you can enjoy good healthy food and your company!

Delicious!!!!

By fiercelu |

I seriously can't believe how delicious this food is. I had never been. Met someone for lunch ordered the Humble (curry) and was given the warm hearted. The server suggested both of these to me so she graciously boxed the one I actually ordered for my dinner as I ate the one that was delivered wrongly to me. A mistake gone great! Anyway those two dishes were truly lovely and I look forward to my next visit.

Fresh and innovative

By Thissideofjetleg |

I am a recent vegan and have dreaded going out to eat with friends. This place is amazing and London needs one!! The cashew cheese alternatives are simply delicious and it isn't just salad on the menu. There are alternatives for everything so get yourself down there at least to marvel at the genius of the combinations. I was so impressed I bought the cookbook. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere wasn't in the least bit pretentious! LOVED IT

Great cafe for lunch

By Andrei S |

People ask for this so there you go! This trendy cafe is really good for a lunch break. Great for people watching and really good food.

Unique and interesting concept!

By AgencesCreatives |

The concept of the place is to make you feel good about yourself. Its unique concept is based on ordering in a different way: you say I AM, and then you pick an item from the menu. For example, I ordered black coffee, so I had to say "I AM COURAGEOUS" as black coffee is named this way on the menu. The overall experience is really fun, and the food is delicious for those who usually enjoy Vegan places.

Once this was a Great Place. What Happened?

By Miriyam |

Some wonderful restaurants have a hard time maintaining the high standard they established, Our last visit to Cafe Gratitude -- which once had delicious food -- was such a disappointment (except for the tea) that we're going to cross it off our list. We went for brunch, It was basically tasteless and overpriced; the menu as a whole (despite the fun names of the dishes -- "I Am Wise" kind of thing --) was just plain uninspired & tired. The place needs a wake-up call!

LOVE

By Fran |

We were visiting hollywood forever cemetery and were starving so googled close places and this came up in my search. SO GLAD WE FOUND IT. The food was amazing! Even my husband who is a huge meat eater and never eats vegeterian was raving about his pizza here. My wellness shot, green tea latte and waffle were all AMAZING. LOVED IT!

Balanced, tasty food

By Melissa A |

You don't get huge amounts but what you do get is hearty, flavoursome and very pleasing to look at. I had the avocado toast which had just the right amount of salt to bitterness, crunch to smoothness, with slices of radish for bite. Coffee was just the right side of bitter and sugar wasn't immediately available - being an adult I don't like my choices being made for me, just put the sugar on the table - and portion sizes were good. The cinnamon roll looks small, but it's wholemeal without being stodgy, and filling.

impressive meal

By Eric B |

for a first time at the restaurant, our party of seven, had difficulty navigating the wonderful menu but our server provided realistic and personal guidance. We all ordered something different, including appetizers, and there was not a bad dish served to any of us. wine and beer selection was excellent and my IPA was perfect after suggestion by our server. Food came quickly and the table was good along with the overall ambiance. Would not hesitate to go back or recommend. Impressive.

Nice Food (even for non-vegans)

By HolidayCaz |

I visited here with a friend who is vegan as she wanted to try it, I'd heard of it and even though I'm not a vegan said I'd go. The food really did taste nice, lots of flavour and I didn't miss the meat. The mushroom bruschetta and tacos were delicious!

Yummo!

By K2KBunny |

Wow, our breakfast experience at Cafe Gratitude was excellent! Great service, nice patio and most importantly, excellent food. The Golden (Tumeric Latte) drink is a must, as is the Grace Smoothie. The highlight was the BONITA, breakfast taco plate with quinoa, black beans, salsa fresca, avocado, cashew nacho cheese, toasted pumpkin seeds, and four corn tortillas. I added the housemade tempeh chorizo as a side. OMG, it was yummo! Highly recommend this place!

Been several times and they really get customer service and satisfaction. You feel good eating here- staff always pleasant and smiling, and the food and variety of options on menu are all great. Def recommend even if you aren’t into that whole vegan/ vegetarian/ gluten free thing ....!

Great options for eating organic

By Rasmus S |

GREAT options on menu and they accommodate many allergies, restrictions etc. Service was great and since it was our fist visit, the throughly explained the menu and the additional options. Definitely worth a revisit once in LA again.

Fully vegan cafe with a great selection of dishes. Yummy food but I would have expected a better presentation. Liked the overall experience.

CAFE GRATITUDE FAVE!!

By Little Birdy |

Of all the Cafe Gratitudes in Los Angeles, this one on Larchmont is my favorite! I have never left here feeling anything less than positive, grateful, full, and healthy. Thank you to the staff and kitchen for excellence in energy, service and cuisine every time. If you're looking for a truly spiritually and physically healthy meal, this is your place. It didn't become 'on trend' for no reason, it's in alignment with the zeitgeist we all need now for our mental and physical health. My personal faves: THE CLEAN JUICE, the Brussel sprouts, the GUAC for sure, the mole, indonesian bowls and the yams!

Love this Café Gratitude.

By CBTravelSpree |

I love this place. I love their Venice Beach location too. We eat here whenever we visit LA. several times a day. The tiramisu is AMAZING as is their Irresistible, coconut pie, and the selection of healthy foods on offer just makes my heart happy! The ambiance is wonderful and the servers are friendly and pleasant. I love the concept of this place - taking time to appreciate the food in front of us, taking time to be grateful and to reflect.

New favorite vegan restaurant

By Pavitralrao |

We were on our way to the LaBrea Tar Pits this afternoon, and were excited to stop at Cafe Gratitude for lunch. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday afternoon during lunch hour, but we were seated pretty quickly. We ordered the crostini with butternut squash and cashew cheese dip, along with the burrito with blackened tempeh. For dessert we got the key lime pie. Our dishes were absolutely delicious. You could hardly tell that the food was vegan. The flavors in the squash dip were just outstanding. The blackened tempeh burrito with the coconut bacon was out of this world. The key lime pie made with avocado was creamy and delicious. This is my favorite vegan restaurant. Just wish I could take this place back home with me. Love it!

Tasty food

Great vegetarian experience

By GEM_reiser |

We really enjoyed the playful way the meal was presented and ordered. Really nice and attentive waiter. Food with high quality ingredients and excellent taste. None of our family are vegetarians, but we enjoy meals without meat quite often. All agreed that this was one memorable meal and a good experience.

A landmark occasion.

By regan888 |

Really exciting and exhilarating food experience. Truly unusual dishes that exploded with flavour and looked fabulous. I'll be back for seconds.

Incredible FOOD- Service Eh...

By BackRoadsUSA |

First time here- and was really looking forward to eating here- which I thoroughly enjoyed the FOOD! The FOOD is really good- all vegan- lots of interesting smoothies, desserts, salads, bowls and more! Scored a good parking spot- think there is maybe room for 4 or 5 cars in the small private lot - some street parking. Indoor seating looks more formal- nice big outdoor patio but the tables are very european squished together. And even though there were lots of empty tables they wanted to seat us right on top of another couple... really? Our server was very POLiTE-- but engaging not so much- and he would be gone for long periods of time-- so if you need anything other than what is brought to you- good luck! We always get excited going to a new place- it;s great when you get enthusiasm back from the server- but this was minimal- he could have shared a bit more on what his favorites were- BUT they are definitely NOT pushy here which can also be a plus. YES= this is LA = and established businesses don't feel they really have to work for your business with a free taste of anything or extended conversation but...as a customer we like those small touches- Would I come back? yes maybe-- but there are literally thousands probably of restaurants in the city to choose from.. so YES I would but how soon.. not sure-- The FOOD is definitely worth seeking out- even if you have to park a tad away-excellent food!! You may want to split a couple of entrees so you can get different tastes of things. Ordered a salad- it was supposed to have tomatos... think I had a couple. The Indian curry dish though was amazing and the tomato jam was incredible! Desserts looked good- and the couple next to us had a couple of smoothies which looked very good also! Go EAT.. and ASK questions- and if you are sitting on the Patio and need anything-- just get UP and GO GET IT !

Amazing food!

By Maz79Uk |

Absolutely Devine!!!!!! Vegan cuisine at it's best!! Flavoursom and well seasoned, producing an array of flavours on the pallet. Great portion sizes. About to eat the dessert.... avocado custard key lime pie...

WAS NOT ENTIRELY HAPPY

By srimanone |

We only eat at vegetarian restaurants, when dining in la. we were expecting more, we were a party of 5, so we got in quickly and before the rush which starts around 7pm. our waitress was very pleasant and busy. the drinks were alittle bland and not to my liking. some of the appertiziers were small, 4 chips with guacamole, curry bowl was good-humble was its name, the other dishes, nothing to write home about. the biggest laugh when the bill came, way overpriced, doubtful I will return

Very Disappointed

By ThinkingTwice |

I went to this cafe a few days ago. The crowd was really trashy. The staff was friendly and courteous. But the most ridiculous names for each dish + the poor quality food with too little Taste or too spicey made us all very sick. Unfortunately we won't be returning, under any circumstances.

Ready made but fresh ?

By John N |

The trick is always to ask whether you can substitute one ingredient for another but this restaurant failed the test as all mixes were already made and unchangeable. This already makes me suspicious.... The salads were good but $120 for three is very pricey I would rather frequent single family owned units than fresh but not freshly made multi establishments

Incredible Vegan Food for Veggie Lovers & Carnivores Alike

By Ana F |

This restaurant does vegan food very very well. Even people who consume animal products/meat enjoy their meals here and do not feel like something is "missing." I highly recommend the bowls, especially the HUMBLE Indian Bowl or Macrobiotic Bowl. The desserts are all delicious and most made without gluten (or refined sugar!) You leave this restaurant feeling satisfied but not sick, and the atmosphere is beautiful. I highly recommend giving this place a shot! There is everything from salads to burgers to pizza to pasta to nourish bowls--something for everyone!

Delicious vegetarian cuisine!

By DuckyO |

Cafe Gratitude proves that organic and vegetarian doesn't have to be bland and boring. The names of dishes reflect the upbeat attitude of this wonderful restaurant -- "Dazzling," "Gracious," "Pure" which are salads. "Whole" the macrobiotic salad bowl is delicious and hearty. My only complaint is the noise level -- it's often crowded, and often very noisy.

My Favorite Café Gratitude location in LA

By Per N |

Love the Larchmont location. Great indoors space - fab outdoors seating are. Menu's always healthy and delish. I do love breakfast/brunch. The Waffle and the pancakes are delish. But my fave item on the menu's the quiche. SOOO good. All organic. All Vegan. Just as it should be. I'm thankful!

Good for good

By Wild tracks S |

Very nice place, great service, happy costumers and truely relaxing ambiance. Dishes are good, desserts veeeryyyy nice ... Coffee is too Robusta for my taste.

Great find

By Nancy C |

Cafe Gratitude, its menu and staff all work together beautifully and thoughtfully from decor, location, each menu item and its name to the server asking questions for customers to ponder. The foods are well prepared and very tasty. There is a very generous happy hour with selections from the menu at discounted prices. The drink menu has wine and beer but clever options easily make mixed drinks that rival those with hard liquor. We had a delicious squash soup, coconut and squash salad which were delicious. We also had a small pizza which i found to be good. Because i am not restricted concerning dairy or gluten, i found the creative substitutes made in the pizza to much of a taste sacrifice. My husband loved it though.

Delicious even for a meat lover

By elizaboo82 |

Cafe Gratitude is a great place to please your vegan, vegetarian and carnivorous friends. The menu is entirely vegan, but the flavors are fantastic. I can't ever go here without getting dessert, so make sure you save room!

My best meal in LA

By bradcaugust |

The "Whole bowl" was the best meal I had in a week of trying all the best LA restaurants we could get into, including ones way up on Jonathan Gold's list. It was amazing. I could eat it every day.

I Am So Grateful for this Amazing Yet Vegan Dining Experience

By RoderickPA |

My family are foodies but not vegans and we just loved both the food and the spirit of this restaurant. All of the dishes have names such as blissful, elevated, or awesome. At the top of the menu is the prompt "I am ..." so that one is prompted to order dishes by saying for example "I am awesome" and "awesome" is the name of the eggplant parmesan panini. However, being a vegan restaurant the "parmesan" is made with Brazil nuts not cheese, and the dish also includes cashew nut ricotta. My kelp noodle pasta and everyone else's dishes, smoothies, and juices were delicious. Only the wine seemed over-priced and disappointing. After we ordered the waitress gave us a philosophical query that we might discuss. The wait staff wear t-shirts with the word LOVE spelled out except the V of their v-necks stand-in for the V in the word LOVE - clever! This was a wonderful welcome to California. It exceeded our stereotype!

Delectable organic, plant-based cuisine

By DuckyO |

Vegan is not only good for you, but it's good for the taste buds here -- because of the variety of ingredients and the innovative combinations. After a third visit, I feel comfortable about highly recommending. Many entrees are served in bowls, and I especially like "Whole" which features braised butternut squash, adzuki beans, sea vegetables, housemade kim chee (don't worry, NOT too spicy), with garlic-tahini sauce over your choice of brown rice or quinoa -- or a combo of both. Sounds like a weird combination, but it's very yummy and satisfying. The herbal teas are very good, too. The place is a bit noisy, though.

Love the Meaning Behind

By caliatl83 |

First time attending this gem of a restaurant. Its amazing I AM..... beautiful, bold, loving, caring, and I AM Vegan... The food was amazing from the appetizer, to the entree, and dessert this place is beautifully designed and perfect for large gatherings, couples, and family, and even great for those who enjoy plant based cuisine. They have different locations throughout Los Angeles, I would recommend dining at one near you . You won't be disappointed the love and care the chef have for each guest is presented with each plate.

Unbelievable

By MWashatkaphotography |

So many healthy options! Staff was so fantastic. Couldn't believe how delicious this place was. Had the glorious sandwich with the Cool smoothie that tasted just like chocolate mint ice cream... Incredible. I highly recommend a visit to the restaurant.

Not Grateful

By ReachOutoftheDark |

When we lived on the central coast of California, we often visited the Cafe Gratitudes in Healdsburg and San Francisco. We loved them… The food was excellent, the service delightful… Everything was organic and there was a highly uplifting feel to the restaurants… Unfortunately, all the northern California Cafe Gratitudes closed due to an impending lawsuit which among other complaints seemed to indicate an almost-forced engagement by wait staff of Landmark Forum. Under a different LLC, Cafe Gratitude continues in southern California with restaurants in the L.A. area. I went to the one in Larchmont, had been there a year ago. This Cafe Gratitude does not have the same feel or quality of food that the northern California restaurants had. On the contrary, this Cafe Gratitude is L.A. chic. There's more pretense than substance. For dinner, I had their three course Dine L.A., but my culinary experience ended after eating the appetizer. While eating it, something about the collard wrap just didn't seem right. Suddenly, I felt quite ill, picked briefly at the entree before I had to go outside and sit on the bench. The next two days had me fasting, drinking lots of water in order to detox from severe stomach pains and diarrhea. It took me a couple of days to get over whatever had hit me. To add insult to injury, when I checked my credit card statement, I found an additional dollar had been added to the amount that I authorized. Nice! I don't know if such a technique is being taught in 'wait staff school', since this is not the first time that a restaurant or server added a dollar to my authorized bill. You may feel that a dollar is not worth the effort, and I would strongly disagree. I don't like the license someone would take to alter the authorized amount. And for one dollar it truly injures the restaurant as far as its reputation and good will for, as you can imagine, I won't go back again. But chic is chic, and people will continue to line up for a seat at a table at Cafe Gratitude.

veggie paradise

Did not use the seating/restaurant area -- did three different to-go orders (via online) over a week's time. I'm not 100% vegan --- but i like to go vegan for a couple of weeks at a time. Positives: Great portions, fresh ingredients. Everyone was friendly and happy to be there. Looked very clean and all the options for juice and salads were amazingly GREAT tasting. Negatives: Even when you order several hours before pick up --- they struggle to "find" your order when you walk in. All 3 times I got there at the pick up time (restaurant was practically empty) but it took 15-30 mins to "find my order" either with the computer or in the kitchen. Don't think their online service translates well to the order makers. Parking across the street and walk over -- prob best option. Can't wait for the SD branch to open -- will be welcome treat for my business trips. NOTE: there is A LOT of construction in the area -- beware of nails. :-( (Not restaurants fault - but drivers beware.)

Beautiful and Plentiful Options for Vegetarians and Gluten Free Folks

By rickpoet |

If you're the kind of person who often scours menus, wondering what items on them will suit your special diet (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc…) then you'll be delighted at Café Gratitude, where every single thing is vegan, and in an unusual turn of events, they have to specifically labeled on the menu what ISN’T gluten-free. Throw in free underground parking in the middle of Los Angeles and you have the recipe for the place that you should probably go and eat. I've been doing a handful of their locations all over Southern California and I've noticed their menu changes seasonally. For example at another location I had a southern-style plate which no longer is on the menu. I was looking forward to eating it, but I am always impressed by a restaurant that changes their menu with the seasons, essentially offering you a new and fresh experience every time you go. This time around, I had the Elated. (quick sidenote to mention that you have the potential to have a spiritual experience while ordering as you have the option of expressing who you are by the title of the food you choose for example, you don't just say “I'll have The elated”, you say "I am elated" and the server will know exactly what you mean and affirm your choice. Honestly sometimes I'm not really into that vibe and just want to order food and not have a forced spiritual intervention, and they don’t force it on you…but just be prepared for it if it’s not your vibe. The Elated was tempe enchiladas served under a mole sauce. This was super good and such a great treat to have a vegetarian mole sauce. Our table also shared the coconut-based calamari appetizer. These are deep-fried and really tasty as well with a good and unique sauce. I've never had real calamari as I've been a vegetarian for so long, but this didn't taste like I was just eating flavored coconut. I really liked it. Our 10-year-old was a bit hesitant about the whole menu as he still has a pretty simple powered, but he did love the smoky spicy but are not squash soup that he ordered. I have the rose sangria to drink with my meal. It was delicious with grapefruit, rose wine, sage and agave. It was refreshing and not too sweet and very lovely. We were there for a birthday celebration so it was unfortunate that they were out of most of their cake desserts, but we did have the raw “Almond Joy” bar which was good. My wife, the birthday girl herself, enjoyed the ball and everything that she ate. In the end everyone was happy we had plenty of things to choose from and we loved the free parking. We’ll definitely be back.

unbelievable place

Cool place, great food

By Tamilde |

Went there for my first dinner in LA. I am always very excited about vegan food and was not disappointed one bit with the food. Everything was really good and original. The wines we ordered were good for the prices and the tiramisu was tasty. The only minus was the staff. It might be due to the time we went there (around 9pm) but the two waitresses we had were impatient, unfriendly and borderline impolite. But again, it might just be the time and they had a long day :)

Good Guilt Free Dining

By 316JackP316 |

Had dinner here on an early Sunday evening after going to a West Hollywood play. We wanted a place with healthy food, preferably organic. Cafe Gratitude fit the bill and much more. I brought 7 jars of my own spices to the restaurant in case the food was bland. I hardly used them because the food was flavorful as well as being well presented. Other reviewers have described and named many of the dishes and vibe of the restaurant so I won't bother. But I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the Mucho mexican bowl, served with a bottle of hot sauce on the side. I rarely eat Mexican food out anymore (although I cook it at home a lot) for health reasons but I thought Mucho was excellent. I specifically asked if the corn was GMO or organic and the waiter informed me that ALL of the food there is organic, making the Mucho a guilt free experience when enjoying the corn in the dish. I also ordered a side of sauteed spinach and kale for $5. I thought the portion size was quite small for the price (not large enough to share) and I did have to add some spices to it. Not nearly as good as the spinach/kale/mushroom/parmesan sautee I make at home, but at least it was organic and healthy, even if overpriced, lacking flair, and rather bland. My girlfriend likewise enjoyed her Curry Bowl which I sampled, and give a thumbs up. Didn't even need to add tumeric or my special curry blend (or cayenne) to the dish. I have a feeling that their entire entree menu is good and I will return the next time I'm in LA or Venice, where they also have a restaurant. Just won't order a side dish next time. Service was good and we dined on their spacious patio on a beautiful August day.

As a concept, try this out

The food here is of great flavour and quality. This hearty and healthy restaurant will please the vegetarians and vegans in the area. But, the main selling point of this restaurant the way it makes you feel good. There are interesting psychological pulls within the restaurant - you order your food by saying 'I am....' For example if the dish you want is called 'happy' you say, 'I am happy.' Our waitress also said to us, after ordering, their question of the day was 'what are you grateful for?' I guess the restaurant wants to serve tasty food and help you think positive.

I am grateful for Cafe Gratitude!

Because healthy can be oh so delicious! CAFÉ GRATITUDE offers a 100% organic and plant based menu so you can enjoy a guilt free meal. They have so many delicious options for you to choose at a reasonable price. The restaurant itself is super cozy with a great atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and are very knowledgeable of their menu. Cafe gratitude is on our must visit list when visiting LA again!

Excellent lil cafe for breakfast just off Melrose

By Bill B |

I discovered this nice lil spot today. Excellent service and tasty food. Cappuccino was perfect at one of their outdoor tables. Cafe Gratitude's menu is cleverly named, it's food is tasty and reasonably priced. Only steps from the Thai consulate on Larchmont, just off of Melrose. It's also very close to Paramount studios melrose gate.

The best!!!

Could not believe it. The best place for Vegan food and even if you are not a even, go try it and enjoy an amazing service and delicious food!

Wow

Can't believe I gave 5 to a Vegan restaurant. But it DESERVED it. Menu is a treat to read and better to eat. All meals were perfectly excellent in quality, composition and presentation. If that isn't enough the staff was impeccable. Friendly and knowledgable with a true sense of service. Place is gem

Plant-based Deliciousness!

Love the food, the theme, and especially the staff! Wonderful menu with something for everyone. Parking could be challenging, but definitely worth it.

Great find

By Bellebutton |

First up we are vegetarians, so we were very happy to find this restaurant. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. We had the oven baked kale chips with aioli - very tasty. We shared nachos which was good, a Caesar salad which was ok but not so interesting and one of us had a wrap with tempeh which was apparently not so tasty.

Amazing Vegan Retaurant

Absolutely loved this cafe! Food was amazing, great staff and atmosphere! I wish there was one is Boston too!

Good food that is good for you

By LabMAK |

We had dinner here on a Friday evening. Fortunately we were able to go fairly early as when we called for a reservation they said they weren't taking any more for that night. The food is good, all plant based, and their menu has expanded some since the first Cafe Gratitude in SF. The prices are high but everything is made from top notch ingredients. The service was a little slow but we had a satisfying meal.

Pretty typical hipster-vegan thang

By AS Temple |

If one isn't vegan then most of the fare offered is pretty inedible. Silly me, I realized what I'd wandered into only after sitting down and perusing the menu. I settled for a faux-Caesar salad and a tall glass of peppy green juice. I graciously declined the offer of topping my salad with scorched moldy soybeans aka blackened tempeh. Yuk.

Totally worth it

I had heard of Cafe Gratitude for years and finally got to go to one while on vacation. It was delicious and I loved the affirmations and positive attitudes of the staff. They have excellent smoothies, shakes and desserts too. I liked their little shop of goodies you can purchase - I got one of the water bottles with the word love engraved on it. Highly recommend!

Sublime

Fresh off the plane from NZ to LA and on the recommendation of our AirBnB host we've found this gem of a restaurant around the corner from our digs. Such a fantastic vibe, surpassed only by the service and the food. Vegan aficionados would find this to be nirvana, and non vegans will be given a treat with the excellent dishes providing taste, texture and ingredients that really do make your soul feel good.

A real LA Vegan experience

By Pete B |

We were in a party of seven - one vegan, on vegetarian, two dairy free, four kosher....so we were looking forward to place where everyone could eat ANYTHING. Note that the menu is organized such gat each item is an affirmation. Each order starts with "I am...." and the dish, like "Amazing" or "Thankful." Weird, but oddly entertaining. Nice bruschetta to start, followed by a homemade ginger ale - good one. I had Pad Thai which was actually a cold dish made with kelp noodles. Good spice, good texture. Kind of pad Thai, but tasted good. Most every plate was cleared, followed by a mocha cheesecake slice which had a hint of cashew but was creamy and sweet. Waiter was great - very engaging. Added positively to the weird SoCal vibe.

Delicious food, considering we are avid carnivores!

By Penguin1982 |

In the efforts of emulating the purportedly healthy lifestyle of upper class LA residents, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place. The venue is mid-sized but serves a delicious list of starters, entree and dessert menu. The drinks menus also had a very refreshing list of healthy beverages. We ordered the nachos, burrito wrap, and ciabatta sandwich. The food portions were very generous and we were pleasantly surprised how satisfying all the flavours were, considering they were all vegan/vegetarian- something a bit of a shock to our carnivorous palate! Our waitress was also wonderful and cheery, which made our overall experience enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this to anyone and we will certainly seek our more vegan/vegetarian places in the future!
