Great for the whole family

By familytraveler38 |

We love this place. Sometimes it's just my husband and I after dinner, sometimes it's with the kids for breakfast or lunch, and sometimes we bring the grandparents or other couple friends. We just absolutely love the feel of this place. We sit on the patio whenever we can, but the atmosphere is great inside as well. Takes us back to Europe every time. The desserts and coffee drinks are great. Probably in our top five going out spots, and we go out a lot. :)

Interlude at Intermezzo

By GrandParentsGo |

Billed as a European coffeehouse, Cafe Intermezzo cultivates an old-world atmosphere with small cozy tables, brick paving stones, and greenery. True to its category, the lists of coffees, teas, and other drinks are extensive. The food menu, while more limited, offered plenty of variety, and I've made notes about what I'd like to try next visit. Their pastry showcases are the highlight of the restaurant, especially the cakes and cheesecakes. Service is personable and unhurried. Cafe Intermezzo is an adult restaurant, but children are welcomed, and my four-year-old grandchild did quite well during afternoon tea time.

My Go To Post Dinner Restaurant!

By thegretchmyster |

I've been going to Cafe Intermezzo for years and I don't even live in Atlanta anymore! I've always visited it as a post dinner location for coffee/hot chocolate and/or dessert. It's perfect for friends and especially a date! I love the atmosphere (whether it's warm or cold outside!) and I love sharing a drink with a friend after dinner to unwind. I usually get the kaffe not schlag (coffee of the day with cream!) It's worth every bit of the calories it contains! The desserts are delicious too and you order them at a counter so you can pick out the one you want. They're huge!! Great locale for post dinner and even the bathrooms are fun (pull down chains from the ceiling to flush and the "music" is someone trying to teach you another language)! I moved to Nashville seven years ago and other former Atlanta friends and I have been saying we need something like Cafe Intermezzo. They're expanding and we are supposed to be getting one soon!

Slowest service in Atlanta

By Emma H |

Food was average, but the speed of service for a business lunch was unacceptably slow. Very disappointing.

Great desserts!

By matt d |

They have a dizzying array of desserts to choose from and they have all been delicious. Another neat thing about this place is their old fashioned drinks that you can't really find anywhere else.

Great place to people watch!

By Carrie H |

Took my son there for dessert on his 16th birthday. Wanted to take him somewhere special. They have an enormous beverage menu, their desserts put cheesecake factory to shame! If you do eat dinner that is excellent too. But never skip the drinks or dessert. They are rich, unique and always fresh. The quality here is amazing every time. The mirrored walls are interesting for people watching and it's all about the company you're with. I tell everyone about this place!

Relax, Chill, and Enjoy the Patio

By Charles Y |

Met a friend for lunch and I hadn't been for a while and it is a pleasure. Cafe Intermezzo is know for deserts, but it is really a place to sit, relax, have a latte or glass of wine, and catch-up with friends. The patio area is reminiscent of a cafe in Europe where people enjoy their food and one another's company. The reviewers who complain they didn't get in and out quickly enough miss the point .... I had the chicken salad croissant and my guest had the beet root salad. They both were very good. We didn't splurge and have desert, but of course we stopped by the desert case and admired the offering.

Average, nothing special

By DM_1278 |

Stopped in one evening for desert coffees and cake. The service was just average, wait time was rather long, and the cakes didn't appear to be very fresh. The cheesecakes were ok, but there are better choices around. It can also be expensive for what you get.

Cute atmosphere, great food!

By tbgem26 |

I've been to this location and the one downtown, and the food is always amazing. The Chicken Florentine and salmon dishes are very delicious. The breakfast foods are great as well. Never disappointed with the service or food! Side note: I love how the bathrooms have a voice over of a person speaking different languages. I feel like I'm getting Rosetta Stone for free while in there! LOL

I never learn

By mel5960 |

Terrible coffee yet again! Honestly the issue is lack of competition. Coffee slopping all over the saucer, cold, bitter and made with complete disregard for the guest. Every time I come here I kick myself for coming again. The problem is that Atlanta needs to get a life. There's another one of these in midtown and the rest of the coffee houses are non existent. You need a relaxing night to unwind you will have to find a bar otherwise go home and go to bed. 😏I've lived here for 35 years and have yearned for a coffeehouse or cafe that stays open later than 10pm) where I can frequent with my husband, friends and family.

Cute Place with Average Food

By step511 |

The decor is so perfect including the french lesson in the restroom. We ate on the patio and it was very quiet and lovely. The food was just average nothing I'd have to run back for.

Beautiful Decor, Great Food!

By MsJessBunny |

Each time I visit this place I fall more in love with it. The service is always great and surprisingly well paced although this location stays quite busy. I typically get the salad with salmon added. WOW. I will say it is a bit pricey, but WELL worth it... sublime! Hands down the best salmon I've ever eaten. You cannot go wrong with their drinks, either. I have never ordered anything I didn't enjoy. This is a great place to wind down and relax with friends and family. Highly recommend!

Yummm!!!!

By Norma_Atlanta_Ga |

Cafe Intermezzo is an Atlanta icon. It has been around for many, many years. The deserts are amazing!!!! It is the perfect place to go after attending a play or the symphony. We had not been to Cafe Intermezzo in a few years. I'm happy to say that it is still as good as I remembered.

Wonderful German Konditorei

By SongMan67 |

I have always enjoyed the Cafe Intermezzo. Their cake selection is good and reminiscent of German cakes, and the coffees are wonderful. I used to live in Germany, so this is an enjoyable reminder of my time there. The ambience is warm, with small tables that allow for close conversation and larger tables for groups. They also have a more full menu for lunch and dinner, although I've not tried that yet.

Great espresso, cakes, and cheesecake.

By Carver |

I have yet to eat dinner at this location but if its at least equal to the one in the airport, then its a good start. The espresso is made by a real Italian machine and is always made to perfection. They have 50+ cakes and cheesecakes they rotate through on a daily basis. Friday and Saturday nights have an energized atmosphere or if your looking for a laid back experience go during the weekdays.

Sweet

By Lovejunk |

This is a cool place for a date or coffee and dessert after work. I've never had a bad experience all of the food and drinks are good.

Perfect romantic evening

By kizkaizminska |

I love to come to Cafe Intermezzo with my hubby for a romantic evening, however this place is perfect for a girls night (starter ;) ) or just a few friends. Cafe Intermezzo has a huge list of drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic. They do offer a small food menu which I really dont care for too much since it is a bistro style... and only will eat breakfast here. Also I would like to mention their dessert counter.... they have a big selection of cakes, pies, tarts and cheesecakes of some which are imported from Italy. Def check this place out!

Poor service and poor food

By michael p |

When 20 minutes had gone by and my Onion Soup had still not arrived I knew I was in trouble. I complained and three minutes later it came out. Unfortunately I found it very salty along with the Monte Cristo sandwich that followed. I don't think I will give a second chance.

Brunch

By sable57 |

I tend to meet other members of the Belly Dance Community at this neat cafe a few times a year. Food is delicious and well presented. Restaurant is clean, staff is most accommodating. I usually order from the vegetarian dishes from their brunch/breakfast menu. It looks fancy yet it is a rather down home spot with a young interesting crowd.

Atlanta Weekend Cheese Cake

By Rodney G A |

We came to the Cafe 20 plus years ago when we lived in Atlanta. It was one of our favorite places. We came back for a weekend and thought we would try it again. The Cheesecake and service is just as good as it was 20 years ago.

An awful brunch

By yummy59 |

A friend of ours was leaving town and he suggested we have a farewell brunch on a Sunday morning. We were the first guests to arrive and ordered coffee. After 30 minutes we were brought our coffee but were not offered cream nor sugar. By the time our server reappeared the coffee was cold and we sent it back. They finally took our food order and I was given a napkin and silverware but my wife was not. An hour and a half after we sat down the food appeared and the server was asked to bring an additional silverware. My wife's eggs were lukewarm - mine were cold and I sent it back. My wife had an appointment so she scarfed down her eggs. Another guest appeared and sat across from me and was promptly brought some sausage - but no cutlery. After waiting for the server to reappear she apologized and picked up the sausage in her hands.

Great spot for late night drinks

By Brandi |

I usually visit the Midtown location, however I was in the area and decided to grab a drink or two. As usual, the atmosphere and menu were perfect and the layout of this location was a treat to explore.

Dim lighting, great food, awesome service

By Plizatnum |

Ate here a married couple who are friends of mine, based on their recommendation. The restaurant has a dim-lighted setting, which creates a really intimate atmosphere - especially if you're on a romantic date, or want a perception of privacy. I was surprised that this place didn't have lasagna on their menu (it IS an Italian joint), but the chicken quesadilla more than made up for the absentee dish. Alexandria was our server and was great: speedy and professional. This place is probably most known for is their selection of and self-promotion of their extensive dessert offerings. They have a "dessert concierge" standing at the dessert counter who helps you pick your poison and assertively makes suggestions if you're like the people I was with who couldn't make up their mind. In all - this place is a great spot to dine and I'll definitely be back in the future!

we go here very often. Love this place.

By Natalia K |

Me and my son love to visit this place for for some hot chocolate, tea and dessert. It always takes us back to our time in Europe! From the outdoor seating, decor, and drink selections, we were always enjoy our time. It is chill and we love people watching. Everything always tastes awesome here. Their cheesecakes are really good. ( ive had Carrot cake cheesecake, creme brulé cheesecake, and red velvet cheesecake so far). My son LOVES their chocolate cakes and burgers!

A little piece of Europe in Atlanta

By Momo0628 |

This is one of my favorite places to go for a cocktail and dessert. If you have not been here the food is amazing but the desserts are really amazing. They do have a full menu but we have been for brunch, dessert or appetizers, they are all lovely. They have fun brunch choices along with wonderful coffee, or coffee drinks. The drink menu is amazing. They have so many specialty cocktails plus all the oldies. If you like Gin they have a page of all the drinks they make with Gin. It really is fun. The desserts, Oh the desserts! Beautiful, plentiful, tasty, and a large selection. My favorite location is Dunwoody, it is really pretty and the outside patio is great.

A Pleasant Airport Experience

By Annette |

We happended upon this place when searching for a place to eat and a few hours to kill. You are seated amoung books and tvs. The atomsphere is quiter than many other restaurants at the airport. We ate Burgers Americana with which were $10. We had bottomless coffee for $3.20 and we split a wonderful dessert - a decadent 7 layer cake $7.85. A varied menu with some great desserts.

Super disappointed with the service - what a bust on New Years Day!

By isasamoto |

After a long day of shopping on a cold, rainy New Years Day - - we wanted a nice hot cup of coffee, dinner and one of their desserts. We arrived maybe around 6pm. We were seated immediately...but that's where it stopped going right. After 12 minutes of wait staff, the manager and hostesses walking past us - NO ONE ASKED IF WE NEEDED HELP. We got up and asked the hostess where the heck our server was. She apologized and said she would find them asap. After more time went by - still nothing! Then 2 people were seated behind our table. Within 30 seconds a server approached them, greeted them, etc. That was the last straw. We got up to leave. The hostess stopped us. She apologized but said something about we were seated in a "weird" section. When we asked why the other folks were waited on immediately she said "Oh, that's not your waiter. That's a different section". (Really??? Why the heck did you put us in a "weird" section)??? We asked if a manager was around. She said yes. She then said "do you want to talk to him"? (like duhhh). And we asked "would it do any good"?? We got deer in headlights.....Yeah, not so much. We left disgusted, angry , cold and very thirsty and hungry. Epic fail!

Great way to end a quite evening

By J H |

My wife and I wanted to try both locations of Cafe Intermezzo, so this our my quick review of the north cafe. It was great, but I have to admit I liked the downtown cafe better. The ambiance was great, but the desert selection wasn't quite as good. The cheesecakes were awesome, just didn't seem to have as much to choose from. It was great, but if I had to choose I would go downtown. If I new I was going to be on the north side for the evening, I wouldn't hesitate, I would go to the north location.

Great Cappuchino's

Great Cappuchino's

Wonderful European Cafe in the heart of Atlanta

By midnighttblazer |

Cafe intermezzo is a gem. The have an expansive drink menu with coffee, tea, alcohol and etc as well as cuisine and a dessert counter. Last night we had the Cubana latte, Ciocoloccino (not sure on the spelling), Tres Leche and peanut butter mouse cake. All were wonderful. I'd also recommend there signature latte the Cafe Intermezzo, it is not to be missed.

Service still slow, but food and drinks good

By Emma H |

This is the third time I've been to Cafe Intermezzo, and the third time I've experienced very slow service. It must be their trademark. While the food is good, and the drinks menu several dozen pages long, don't go unless you've time to hang around and enjoy the company while you wait for your meal.

Alwasy enjoy this parisian restaurante

By Gaby G |

We stayed at the Le Meridien on purpose to stay close to Café Intermezzo. This location is even better than the original. The food as always delicious, even though portions could be a little bigger. Delicious cakes and super varied menu.

The BEST late night dessert place

By Karen C |

Go here for conversation and late night dessert! Really wonderful. Don't go for lunch unless you have time on your hands. It's like a little European eatery - you can NEVER be in a hurry. You must just enjoy the food, wine and scenery.

Romantic and Intimate

By Lambert B |

Extremely wonderful place to complete a romantic weekend! Excellent appetizers and entrees. Great coffee and desserts!

Quality food ruined by inadequate service

By Sheridan H |

My friend and I usually dine at the cafe intermezzo in midtown but decided to try this location. While we're always impressed by the menu items, the service was unacceptable. Firstly, there was no hostess. After waiting five minutes, the hostess finally graced us with her presence and sat us. After another five minutes, the hostess came back and took our drink order. A server brought them out and introduced herself as our server. She checked on us once in 45 minutes. After she brought our second drink, we did not hear from her again. She stood talking to the other staff, but she would not check on us. I never take the time to write awful reviews, but my friend had to get up and find her for the check after waiting over an hour when we could see her doing nothing. I would have understood if it were busy, but it was four in the afternoon on a Monday. It was far from busy. I only am giving two stars because of their drinks and food.

Don't think I will let them get three strikes...

By Gagal |

Several months ago I went here after shopping across the street. The service was almost non-existent and they seated us outside where it was pretty chilly. The restaurant was not full so I don't know why we were not seated inside. We thought we would never get our order after we finally picked out our desserts and coffees. Then we had to chase the waitress down to finally get the bill so that we could leave. Because I had very good experiences at the location on Peachtree St., I said I would give them that one night someone could have been out, etc. So I went again on Wednesday after shopping. It took 15 minutes to finally get seated. The table we were taken to was right at the pastry display case where everyone gathered around our small bistro table. We felt like we were midgets in a crowded room. There were plenty of empty tables elsewhere that would have been much more desirable. Another ten minutes and still no waitstaff had taken our order. My boyfriend got up and found a waitress who said that it was not her table but she could not locate the waitress who was supposed to be waiting on us, so she agreed to take our order. The first three wines that I picked, they were out of. I asked if they had any dessert wines at all to serve. The waitress said that they had a raspberry dessert wine but that most people who ordered it, sent it back. We decided that we would rather forget attempting to dine here and left.

Sadly it has changed since I moved away 5 years ago

By DocHarrisHHI |

Took a friend here for desert after a near by and wonderful dinner... I remembered it as excellent and knowledgable servers describing dozens of amazing deserts and then nice drinks... The service was slow, the server did not have even the basic understanding of the wines and someone at the desert counter "stumbled" through the explanations of perhaps 15-20 selections... The deserts were tasty but not outstanding and the entire experience could be summed up by saying "it was a nice night to sit outside"... I will not return here but might try the original location on Peachtree when I return next...

Second time not as great as the first for Cafe and Dessert!

By SingingGourmet |

The cafe Hazel was great and so were the desserts. Although the server ( Crystal) was friendly, my espresso was lukewarm and I asked for a hot one and the she did not give me a fresh one, she just reheated it. She also pored water on my foot when refilling the waters, and didn't offer a napkin to dry my foot/sandal! She apologized, but that was it!! We had to ask for napkins and utensils. Next time we will ask for Harold. Harold was our server on our first visit and he was super!!

Not just a good drink spot

By jaime w |

For years I was coming here just for drinks. I love all the enormous hot chocolates and their huge drink menu that reads like a book. I've started coming for food also now and everything is delicious! Crepes, pasta, risotto and salads. You can't go wrong!

Great crepes... very European

By Emma H |

This place serves fantastic little crepes with various savory or sweet fillings, and has the largest selection of cheesecakes I've seen for a while! It has an "independent" feel while being part of a little chain of restaurants, even with one at the local airport. Service is always good, and food impresses each time. Sit outside on the patio if you don't want to have to walk past the cheesecakes!!

Major decline!

By NA294 |

Came here a while back and had a wonderful time. The drinks were great, the cakes tasty, the service attentive. Unfortunately that was not the case when we came. The coffee drinks were incorrectly prepared based on the description, the cakes were nothing to get excited about. I felt bad for the server who was trying to be cheerful and chipper while it was clearly not so great. Also super expensive for the quality being provided. We won't be back.

Very good!

By KarenMackDrozd |

Good food, interesting menu, lots of choices! I'm not sure I've been to this location since the map is a bit compressed on my screen, but the one in town is worth the visit!

Coffee and Dessert with a whole lot of Athmosphere

By TXnatives |

We wanted something sweet after dinner so we found this a convenient place to enjoy a coffee and snack. They were busy and customers are loud on a Friday night so we asked to be seated inside. We got 2 coffee drinks and 2 deserts and paid $30. The unusual thing about this place is that you have to walk to the bake case and get a piece of paper with the name of your desert written on it by the "special" employee that tells you what each cake is. Maybe this is what makes this place special but I didn't like that I had to stand there for 10 minutes waiting for the girl to finish explaining every desert to a kid that wanted everything. That was the worst part of the experience. The deserts were good and the coffee was of good quality as well so I didn't feel too bad about spending $30 on our after dinner snack.

Outstanding desert destination

By William S |

If you like chocolate or cheesecake, this is nirvana for sure. This is far more than a casual desert stop, although there is plenty to take to eat later. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with low lighting and an immense selection of specialty drinks with coffee or other desert beverages. The one i had with brandy was superb, as was the creme brulee cheesecake. they also have many other cake selections as well, beyond chocolate. Don't miss this desert lovers paradise.

Dessert with a friend.

By Autumn H |

After dinner. We went to this lovely Europeon setting cafe. The inside has low lights and chandeliers created for intimate setting. Inside the cafe there is table seating, bar seating and booths. There is a case of indulgent cakes. The menu offers coffees and alcohol and food. There is outside seating that has cafe style table and chairs. I loved it!

Never rises to our expectations.

By Mandajay |

There is nothing better than going for dessert after dinner on a Saturday. We tried Cafe Intermezzo again after a many year hiatus. Sadly, it is just mediocre. I think the problem is that there is quantity over quality. Add to that a weak wine list, and it is not a great ending to a fun evening.

Slightly Disappointing

By georgiabeachpeach |

I ate a late lunch here and although the place was virtually empty, the service was slow - wait staff seemed slightly inconvenienced by our presence. Although it was a beautiful day, they would not seat us outside. The Crepe Florentine was very good and my friend's crepe selection was, as well. The thing that I found totally unacceptable was the $2.90 charge for a small glass of tea, but most appalling was the fact that each refill was $2.90!! I've lived in the south all my life and never has a restaurant charged for a refill of iced tea!! (The waitress agreed that it was a shame to have to charge for refills.) It would be considerate for the staff to warn you of the additional charge!! Based on other reviews, it seems that dessert and coffee are the draw for many people, and I might try that. However, I'd be more inclined to go across the street to the mall for cheesecake at a reliable, full-service restaurant. And enjoy refills on my tea, should I choose to do so.

Lovely food and atmosphere!

By Laurie Ashley |

We ordered three house coffees and our dinner to go. I so love how they served the coffees. Real coffee cups with a saucer, tiny spoons, real cream, options for sweeteners and your own little coffee pot. Love! Was pricey but good. Would do again. Food was very good and packaged well. The atmosphere was fun and service was great. Excellent dessert destination. Giving five stars because I loved every second and every bite. Server was precious too. Very professional yet very warm. Loved my visit.

Exceptional desserts, drinks menu, atmosphere; poor service (this time)

By EBIATDA |

This remains (ever since I've been going here since the 80's) one of the very BEST places to enjoy the most heavenly, delicious desserts (taste, presentation, variety of choices, portion, and price ($6.99 per slice...though I'd happily pay $16.99) ) accompanied by an exceptional wide variety of coffees, teas, wine, beers, and aperitifs - also very fairly priced. Most cocktails from the full service bar are only $6.99. The atmosphere (uniquely at this location, not the downtown one) is one of the best for getting somewhat dressed up (or staying fashionably casual if you like), to see and be seen, to soak up the wonderfully old-Italian decor. The dim lighting really adds to the overall setting - romantic, intimate, stylishly chic without any ostentatious pretentiousness. The place is busy but not noisy (though I can understand if some think it is noisy.) Because the place is so busy, I can understand if the wait staff isn't too attentive or personable, but our waiter tonight was downright surly. I just figured we got someone on a bad night - but that's not an excuse. It still not enough to write the place off since I'm not one to let one negative spoil an otherwise sublime experience, one that you can invariably count on. Though I've enjoyed scores of different coffees and drinks over the years, my favorite is the simple "House Coffee" because it is perfectly brewed, fresh, rich, (beats the pants off of the coffee at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts...yeah, I hate to admit they both have awesome coffee in my opinion)...AND, they serve it in a huge (elegant silver) pot AND you get a free reflll of the entire pot all for just $3.70. There is no better place in Atlanta to bring a date, hang with friends, or just sit and read Shakespeare in a classy setting. As the name "intermezzo" implies, this romantic place is a perfect way to set the mood between a nice dinner date and... :)

Stick to desserts & skip the food

By morganinaboat |

Made the mistake of attempting to eat dinner here this week. Big mistake. I was familiar with the place from previous trips for dessert and coffee but thought I'd try for a proper meal. What a disappointment. I ordered some sort of pecan crusted chicken with smashed potatoes and some veggie. Suffice it to say the entire meal was microwaved and served to me. Must have come straight out of the freezer. Awful. Ate half and left. Do yourself a favor And stick to the delicious dessert and beverages.

Great place for late night desert

By Mjk5238 |

Stopped in for late night desert and a few drinks. As stated in previous reviews, the coffee sucks. Period. Served luke warm at best and is not of any quality. The atmosphere is great......especially for a date night. They have an extensive drink menu and wine list. Kyle and Steve at the bar were excellent bartenders and very personable, which made the visit great. They gave the place a neighborhood bar feel. Desert was average, but good. Drinks were excellent! I recommend that if you're looking for a decent cup of coffee this is probably not the place. If you're looking for a decent atmosphere for drinks this is the perfect spot.

Just for coffee and pastries.

By Maria Eugenia V |

This was a very disappointing and expensive experience. They said they were short-staffed. The hummus appetizer was delicious. I ordered the "beet salad" and got a massive bowl of dry arugula, with three or four minuscule pieces of beet, cubed cheese and pecans on top. My friend who was with me had the same experience. The waitress worked very hard to serve our table of 15 and was kind enought to bring us extra pieces of beet. Salad dressing in the salad was almost non-existent. I ordered "Argentinian" shrimp to go with the salad. I'd be happier if they weren't flown from the Southern hemisphere. Florida shrimp would be an excellent option. My husband ordered risotto and scallops. The risotto was cold and the scallops were over-cooked and rubbery. The dish cost about $22 dollars! The coffee was tasty and German chocolate cake too. I don't recommend this place for eating lunch or dinner, but yes for coffee and pastries. I might go back just for that. It's a beautiful restaurant and great meeting place for tea, coffee and pastries. I haven't tried their lunch yet.

great deserts

great deserts

Love this place

By rilys |

It's my neighborhood cafe, so I got there at least every week. It's even nicer now that the weather is not so hot and you can sit outside. The deserts are always great! Most of the time they'll have somebody that can explain you what each cake is, so it makes it easier for you to chose. The drinks are a bit overpriced but so are they in Starbucks! I would much rather go have coffee in Intermezzo than Starbucks. This place is always packed at night (even on a Mon night) so plan in advance. It's open late on the weekends.

Very nice assortment of cake

By karol452 |

There are 2 coolers with assortments of cake. One cooler is just cheese cakes and the other is cake. I sampled 2 different cakes. I had the Black Magic and the Bonzo cake. The Black Magic cake is chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and comes with whipped cream. The cake had good chocolate flavor lots of mousse on the inside and chocolate ganacake on the outside. The Bonzo cake had a shortbread bottom filled with masarcopne cheese and berries on top sprinkled with icing sugar. The Bonzo cake is very light. All the cheesecakes are made locally. The tiramsui and the Bonzo cake are brought in from Italy. You can pick type of cake you want. The menu also consists of coffee, tea, wine and liquor. The food menu has breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, soups and hors d-oeuvres and crepes. What is interesting about this place is when you go to the restroom. Instead of music there is people talking foreign languages and you can learn a few words of a foreign language. I went to the location at Dunwoody. i had good service. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

Quality, ambiance and location

By emekli |

I took my friends to this restaurant while wondering if they changed over the years after I moved from Atlanta and I was pleasently surprised to experience the same excellent service, ambiance and choice of quality food. The price is affordable.

Wonderful desserts!!

By Nanine H |

Great place for outdoor desserts and coffee. Felt like I was in Europe. So much fun for a girls weekend - but also for a romantic date.

Great atmosphere, large facility, great selection

Best coffee house in Atlanta, skip Buckhead location, this one has more time, money and room! Lovely venue, we hit it once a week for a caffe and some desert.

Angered...put out by server

By rlikis |

Returning from honeymoon in Cabo / Atlanta airport layover - almost walked into Fridays when we saw Intermezzo - gent greeted us asked us in to review menu.... ordered chicken sand with baked fries. Fries came cold - asked wait person (young lady) for hot fries / she told us the fries came that way? Really? Long story short, I requested hit fries...she walked away and never came back. Another person brought a bowl of not-hot fries, which I placed on the adjacent table. All of a sudden, Robert walked out with plate of hot fries. My sandwich was very good as was my wife's dinner. She asked for togo box / then requested bag (for plane) which was too small for togo box. I asked lady at the greeting stand for larger sack and she says that was s they had. I walked over to Intermezzo gift area and got a larger bag (same logo). Bittom line, the initial server was miffed at me... and the lady at the greet stand was busy doing homework on her computer. What a shame...all we expected was a quick meal equal to Ruby Tuesdays with Intermezzo atmosphere.

Watch your bill!!!

By flydrha |

Service was slow and hard to get my order in. The worst of all was when we received our bill, they charged a much higher amount on my card. The waiter re-ran the bill to my card without offering an apology and nor explanation. I would not return.

Pleasant experience

By Midnightracer |

The employees were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was excellent, and blended very well with their drinks. I was disappointed that my favorite dish was off the menu which was the macadamia nut encrusted chicken.

Always excellent....

By Dave T |

This is a home grown local place with a couple of locations in Metro Atlanta. Best in town for a drink, coffee or desert.

Cafe with a Negative Vibe

By JanR2011 |

My friend and I went there to celebrate our birthdays. Although we did celebrate it wasn't because of the staff. The male host hated is job, the waiter would rather help guests his own age and was way too into himself. I hated that I had to get up from our table to go inside and pick a dessert with the host with an attitude. We waited a long time for our dessert and the waiter took forever to bring coffee and water. Then another long wait for our bill. He didn't deserve a tip and they don't deserve a visit back. Left them a message on Facebook and they never answered.

Special Coffee's, Tea's, Drinks. You will learn a lot about all. Beautiful restaurant! Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, Traditional Eggs Benedict, Crepes.....fantastic! Although we didn't have any of the pastry's, you have to check out the pastry display. They will walk you through each pastry and how it is served. Our waitress, Kim, was wonderful! If you want a very special dining experience, make a point to go to Cafe Intermezzo.

NOT my cup of tea

By Ashli H |

I went here on a Friday night. --I have been coming here for several years but I haven't been in a while on a Friday night. I always stop in and get the same thing, which is tea (my choice depends on my mood/the season, etc.) and a slice of The Frutti di Bosco (I call it Bosco for short). Although the customers appeared to be having a good time, THERE WERE WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE! The bartenders/waiters were overwhelmed, thereby making for an extremely neglectful experience. I didn't even want tea when I saw the quantity of people so I ordered a slice to go. The bartender takes my slip of paper with my order on it and DISAPPEARS for over 15 minutes! Frustrated, because I thought I would be in and out for such a simple order, I left out and one of the hostess offered help. I paid for my Bosco and left about 10 minutes after that. I am a believer that a place of business should only seat as many people as they are able to give good quality service, not how many people can meet capacity...I am writing on this now because this is not the first horrible experience i've had here.~Ashli H.

very attractive setting, just ok fare

By Leon G |

My wife and I were excited about this place the first time we went. It's a beautiful space in a tree-shaded shopping center across the street from the asphalt desert of Perimeter Mall in what passes for "downtown" Dunwoody. We were there because it was reasonably close to a medical office at which I have frequent appointments. The faux Viennese coffee house ambience is attractive, as are the outdoor tables. The first time we went, I had their roast beef sandwich. Not bad. The slices of beef weren't dry and tasteless as they sometimes are in this prep. There was enough pink in the meat to lend some flavor although the accompanying jus tasted like warm tap water. I don't remember what my wife had, some vegetarian dish that she thought was pretty good. The next time we went (second of three visits), I had a burger which was done just the way I asked for it, so points for that. Don't remember what my wife had. It was the third visit, though, that was the deal breaker. The restaurant serves breakfast all day so I went for a smoked salmon and cream cheese omelette and my wife went for the croque madame, I think. My omelette was some hard cooked eggs folded over a glob a smoked salmon and a few cubes of characterless cream cheese. My wife's croque was pretty much ruined because it was slathered with a river of some cheese-like substance that defeated her before she finished it. I hasten to say that we can't vouch for the dessert offerings, which is what the restaurant is famous for. But judging by the ones I saw in a display case I passed, they might be your best bet here. The savories not so much. On our three visits, what we had ranged from competent to disappointing. When you're in a neighborhood on medical business, you hope for something more encouraging than just ok.

This place was tucked away! Awesome!

By JazzyPink1908 |

So I live desserts and went here with my Boothang. He took me here because I had begged and had visited a different location. This location is tucked away in the Dunwoody area kind of. Ok so the dessert I had was the strawberry cheesecake but it was sooooo fluffy and the crust was made of cookies. I also had a hot coco that was to die for. I had flatbread pizza and honey the atmosphere is definitely one for couples or just chilling. The servers were very friendly and the restrooms were clean. Whatever you do take enough mine to try at least 2 desserts after dinner or lunch. We spent about $60 for 2.

Dessert Heaven!

By TKMC0627 |

On my birthday, I requested to go to Cafe Intermezzo for dessert. It's a beautiful place to take someone for a date or even some quiet conversation. Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1. You want dessert. If you like lemon, try the lemon cake! 2. The tea menu is extensive. I enjoyed some fragrant jasmine tea with my lemon cake and it was phenomenal. BE ADVENTUROUS and try a tea you've never tried. You won't regret it. 3. Plan to spend lots of time there just enjoying the ambiance. The prices are reasonable, so perhaps you want to enjoy your food, dessert, or beverage at your leisure. Enjoy the beauty of life, foodies! T

Great Place for a Romantic Dinner

By We'reAlmostThere |

Visited Café Intermezzo for a Valentine's Day mid-afternoon lunch (before babysitting the grandkids for our daughter that evening). Great atmosphere, very friendly service, and delicious food. We'll be back!

Perfect coffee shop !!

By awadh d |

Wow!! The coffee here is exactly what I wish for...they have a variety of options to choose from. i took a cioccoloccino which was d perfect blend. Not to forget the staff here is very kind and friendly :)

Great memories and decent place

By Nipun J |

I have been here a few times and have a personal reason to give this place more stars than I would to any other restraunt or cafe. It is a nice place to hang out for a meal or a few drinks. It can be romantic with the candle lit on each table (outside seating). It is usually busy but not necessarily loud. I like this place and recommend it to couples or even friends just wanting a place to chill out. Hey, watch that bill though, the one time we had gone there just for a few drinks and I guess we ended up with a bill of $80 or something.

Amazing Coffee!

By desiquill |

Beautiful atmosphere and great selection of coffee and drinks

Fantastic cakes and coffee!!

By Chris F |

Fantastic. From the romantic atmosphere to the dozens of cakes and coffees available it is a premiere café! Been here twice and plan to come back again and again. I had breakfast omelette and Turkish coffee the first trip both of which were phenomenal. Recently in Jan I had the Cuban coffee and a cafe Bach which is a very sweet butterscotch latte drink. Picture provided of the cafe Bach. Also had the raspberry almond cake that was magnificent. Do yourself a favor and go!

A great coffeehouse and eatery at a more upscale level.

By WandaL5 |

This particular location has been there for over 20 years. They have the largest coffee and tea selection way before Starbucks existed. There have a great lunch and dinner selection. However when they are crowded service can slow down too.

Nightmare

By Ben W |

Food and service nightmare. Stale food, absent servers, I had to beg for my check. Had never been before and will never return.

A Reliable Favorite

By Goochorama |

I love Cafe Intermezzo! It is one of my all time favorites! Every time we go it's wonderful all the way around. The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is great. I really don't know how you couldn't like it here. It is so relaxing & enjoyable. You can sit & eat & chat leisurely. It's the perfect place for both outings with friends & romantic dates. You'd never feel rushed or like you have to hurry up so that they can use your table. The inside has beautiful ornate, European decor & dim lighting so it's very cozy & inviting. The outdoor seating is nice too - even in the summer it's ok b/c while it's outside there is an overhead ceiling which blocks the hot sun & they have ceiling fans & umbrellas to keep you cool too. As for the food - I've had it all - breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert & drinks I've never been disappointed with anything. I suppose some things may be a bit overpriced but it's outweighed by all the other positives so I say it's worth a little extra money.

Try it once, for the experience

By Onii |

I've been to Cafe Intermezzo twice, both times during the same visit to Atlanta. First, let me say that I admire the effect they're trying to achieve, and the atmosphere that goes with the "European coffee house" experience. However, that doesn't mean they succeeded. The coffee is wonderful, and I was happy with my choice on both visits. The food is average, and I think for future visits I would limit myself to choices from the beverage menu(which is admittedly impressive). The dessert case has a huge selection of cakes and offerings; unfortunately, I don't believe that any of it is made in-house. My main complaint comes from the slow/bad service. Both times our waitress was a bit aloof and not overly friendly, with very little effort made to see if we were satisfied with our experience. During our second visit, our waitress seated two gentlemen at the table next to us, barely three feet away, even though we were there in the mid-afternoon and the restaurant had plenty of open space(in fact, we were probably one of three tables in the entire coffeehouse.) My date and I finished our drinks and food, and then waited for a good 40 minutes before the waitress approached us again, even though she was also taking care of the two gentlemen next to us. I believe she may have asked us a single time if everything was alright, and that was very shortly after we got our food. I come from a "foodie" family - my father is a chef - and so good service is just as important as good food when I go out to eat. A good waiter can make the dining out experience wonderful, and can even make up for mediocre food. In Cafe Intermezzo's case, I wish that had been our experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't. I could recommend Intermezzo if you are out friends for a long evening, and don't mind waiting long periods for service and waiter attention while you chat. I'm not sure I'd recommend it in any other circumstance.

A favorite spot

By Ramerian |

Cafe Intermezzo has several locations around town, including the airport. Perfect for a light meal and a delicious dessert.

Never waited on

By BArtigue |

I don't know how the food is here, we were never given a chance to order. The specials? No idea. We waited to be seated (there were two employees standing there ignoring us) and sat in the nearly empty restaurant. No waiter ever showed up. A man behind the pastry counter was trying to act busy, a few waiters walked by. Moral of the story: don't eat a nearly empty restaurant, there's a reason it's nearly empty.

Good food but very slow service

By LRR812 |

I visited this place twice this month the first being my first time. The first time I went with a group of 6 from work. We were seated at a really small table and as we finished our meal noticed that the waitress never collected the empty wine and beer glasses. We had really bad service, the waitress was not attentive we constantly had to flag her down for water refills, dessert orders and our check. I really enjoyed my pasta so I thought I would come back with a smaller party to see if the experience was better. The second visit was similar this waitress wasn't rude like the first girl but she was very slow refilling water and bringing carryout containers and checks. I enjoyed dessert both times I went but compared to other restaurants the portion size and price were not comparable. I will be back but definitely not for a lunch or maybe call ahead and carryout because I did really enjoy the food both times.

Great desserts & cool atmosphere

By MaeRodgers |

I've gone to Cafe Intermezzo for many years and it still has the same cool atmosphere. I love sitting on the patio near the fountain. The restaurant has an extensive menu, especially for coffee drinks. I love the schlag.. yep schlag! It's the cream on top of the coffee drinks. The cafe mocha is great and the latte. They serve lunch and dinner, but my favorite thing is the amazing array of desserts. You get a dessert tour and they tell you what everything in the case is. This restaurant is great for a date night and has a romantic vibe. It's also great to meet up with friends.

We love this dessert spot

By Tracy L |

They make great martini’s and the desserts are good. I love sitting outside and having a cocktail while my husband has dessert. They have an extensive food menu but I have not eaten anything here other than dessert or alcohol. Service was a little slow but we did not mind as we were just hanging out.

That Out Of The Way Cafe

By George M |

Cafe intermezzo has been a fixture in the Perimeter area of norther Atlanta for a few decades. It has grown from a late night romantic dessert and coffee spot to include an expansive full menu. the cuisine is varied, excellently prepared and well served. An excellent smaller location for those wanting a more intimate experience....or to eat unbelievable desserts!

Afternoon coffee with a little food

By Don B |

Had the French press coffee it was great not to hot then had the bruschetta it was so good The vegetables soup was excellent I had the tomato basil with linguine the sauce was excellent I would definitely come back we actually traveled over an hour to come here it was great

Nice quick bite to eat

By Matt |

This is a nice little sit down place to get a slightly above average meal, but I wouldn't go out of my way to patron here again; the food is just average. The location of this place has to be in one of the business parts of town; even on a Sunday morning it was just obnoxious navigating that 2 mile radius just to get back on the highway. The wait staff was friendly but somehow my order still got messed up and I got mushrooms left on my chicken sandwich at least its not as bad as leaving mayo on someones burger Bruce Willis style. (If you get the movie reference enjoy!) I wouldn't say "don't go here", but I wouldn't say "to go here" either.

Fine for a quick bite, maybe not a foodie haven

By GuyFromAtlanta_GA |

We stopped here after a long business meeting. It was late for lunch and early for dinner, and they serve breakfast all day long. So we both had the Intermezzo omelette, which was quite good with fresh ingredients. The ambiance is pleasant - they are going for a coffee shop in Vienna vibe - and they pull it off well, complete with classical music. Their drink menu is like a volume of an encyclopedia, with everything under the sun. I must say the service was slow, but we were not in a hurry. We probably would not select this place for dinner since there are plenty of fine restaurants all around Perimeter Mall, but it was fine for a quick bite and a change of pace.

Like being in Paris....almost

By tomcombv |

love this place. the best coffee and desserts ever. And a great place for breakfast. I love the softly scrambled eggs on a croissant. Like being in Paris!

Overpriced for poor quality food

By Merary V |

We haven't been here in a long time, terribly disappointed. Food quality is the worst. We ordered a chicken crepe terribly made with boiled chicken and canned mushrooms in a "french" place. Potato chips from a bag and a sandwich in a burger bun. Never to come back.

Very romantic and quaint

By TheArdsofSC |

Ate here for supper and it is divine. Had the pecan crusted chicken and the spinach artichoke crepe. Both were most excellent. Would definitely eat again. Had a couple drinks too. They were a little on the small size for the price. Took a slice of the B52 cheesecake back to the hotel with us. Very tasty but not what we expected. Service was excellent. Would go back if in area again.

The Best Brunch Ever!

By Ashli H |

An old friend of mine came in town for a short visit, so I went to see him. I'm glad a mutual friend suggested we go here because the thought would not have crossed my mind! The last time I was here was on a Friday night & it was jammed packed with people, but the crowd was much more mild & pleasant on Sunday morning. It was beautiful weather, so we sat outside to enjoy or brunch. Our server was sweet, cute, and honest with her recommendations. My experience here on this day renewed my Faith in this place! I made a promise to myself to only go on the calm, peaceful days so I can relax and enjoy myself. The food was great and our order was made correctly on the first request. I have concluded certain days of the week such as Saturday and Sunday morning are better than Friday nights when looking for the true European Coffee house feeling. Ashli H.❀❀❀

A very pleasant experience

By Sreeharsha G |

my wife took me here for dinner on my birthday. It was really a very pleasant experience. From drinks to appetizers to food, everything was really good. Ambiance is unparalleled. The only small complaint is the service. It's not fast enough. Sometimes, I had to walk to the waiter and ask for things. But it's not a big issue because other good things compensate for this. Overall, a very nice place to have in dunwoody. I would visit it again and again. Lots of options for drinks and food.

Great drinks and desserts. I have not tried any of their entrees.

By Experience89741 |

Great drinks and desserts. I have not tried any of their entrees.

cheese cake is wonderful the food is not

By GoldenMan |

bad food good cheesecake. go for dessert only. The cheesecake is wonderful. the cakes are just ok. The meals are simply pretty bad. not good at all. you will be wasting your money on the food. have cheesecake and a nice coffee and youre all set

Brilliant place!

By GodsOwnDevil |

This review may be a bit biased, because I LOVE this place!!! It's a pretty awesome hangout! Whether you're have a business meeting during the day or chilling in the evening or even hanging late in the night, this place rocks!!! I love their wide selection of beverages (coffee/tea) on the menu. Must visit when in ATL!!!

Great place to chill...

By a2wice |

I really like Cafe Intermezzo in Perimeter. It's in a great location, the set up is very "French" and of course their coffee's and cakes are awesome. If you want a place to go just to relax, have awesome coffee and have meaningful conversations - this is the place.

Great late night sspot!

By e e |

I love the European atmosphere and the late night hours! They still serve food, have an overwhelming menu of items with food, drinks, coffees, wines, after dinner drinks, and more. The service is always efficient. Go to the bathroom for a language lesson going on overhead (rather than music) and take a good look around at the international crowd. It's fun!

Fav cafe!

By kathy c |

I absolutely love this cafe. The ambiance and decor of the place is gorgeous. It's the perfect spot for a date night or girls night. Cheesecake was also delicious as well as the Paris drink. Can't wait to go back :)

Beautiful place ....

By Gaby S |

It's nice to have a place to look like you are in Europe.....but the reality is completely different. The service was and is terrible. Even the new location at Avalon in Alpharetta. I believe the personnel is very bad trained. Managment is responsable for that.

Service?

By Ana M |

Last time in this restaurant. I went on a date with husband. We had eaten lunch late so we figured we could do appetizers, drinks and dessert! Arrived at 7:30, there were plenty of tables available, however we were told (along with some other folks that arrived before us) to wait 5-10 mins. In the meantime, we chose our cakes and sat at the bar and we were provided efficiently with waters. Then at 7:39, we were sat in our outdoor table and the nightmare started. In 30 minutes, no one approached out table. By that time the restaurant (at least the outdoor seating) was full. I looked for the hostess and she told a new waitress to take good care of us. Both were apologetic and told us something about the table system not being synchronized. The waitress didn't know that our table was hers too. However, the fact that nobody, nobody approached out table (there were plenty of hostesses and waitress around the place) tells you that the rest of the team weren't observant at all. Well, 20 more minutes passed by and we couldn't even get our drinks. Nothing too hard to bring them right? I have had enough, felt that our outing was ruined and left the premises.. So, you know, you either chase the hostesses (there were at least 3 at the door) or the rest of the service people to get some service. Awful.

Unique experience for a variety of visits!

By fishnmb |

The thing I love about Intermezzo is that it is a great place to come for lunch, a snack, a meal, late night dessert, or brunch. Food for everyone and all types makes it very accommodating and their desserts are stellar! Atmosphere is European and food sizes are as well. Drink selection is COMPLETE, hardest part is deciding! A must visit

Nice drinks

By Jennifer |

It is always very busy when i go there. We like the drink menu there are so many choices. The food is quite nice as well but the desserts are just amazing. Sadly our waiter was very slow and clumsy we actually had to ask at reception if we could pay as he disappeared for over a good half hour when we ask for the bill.

Late weeknight dinner

By Kiara O |

Late weeknight dinner at 11pm after going out to see a theatre show. We were a group of eight (family and friends) and sat in the outside courtyard area. We ordered two appetizers to share before ordering our main meals, all the food arrived rather promptly given how busy the restaurant seemed. The seafood dip as an appetizer was quite tasty, and the grilled chicken sandwich and the American burger were both good. I must say the side of kettle chips were very crunchy and satisfying. However, it was very noisy sitting in the outside area as they had closed it off to regulate temperature, very difficult to hear conversation across our table. Nothing particularly exceptional but was a good option for a "classier than fast food" late night dining option.

Lovely for after dinner drinks

By Stacy L |

My hubby and I came here after our anniversary dinner for some coffee and refreshments. The tiramisu was beyond light and airy. The atmosphere is upscale but not stuffy. Love this place!!

Disappointed again

By rottie50 |

As I always give restaurants 2nd chances, Intermezzo Cafe, Dunwoody GA, missed the mark again. Here on a Saturday for lunch, 12:15, not busy at all. Bartender was out of touch-- not trained-dirty plates, glasses left out next to guests eating lunch, checked on me after I had finished with meal. No conversation, no up-selling, clearly no training or restaurant experience. Bar was full of dust/dirt, visible to guests. French Dip was tiny little pieces of roast beef, au jus- nothing but bouillon water. SO disappointed that this is another restaurant that does not have it together. Both Dessert cases had only a few pieces of each cake on each cakeboard and looked terrible(pic attached.) Just a coffee shop here...

Great Dessert!

By Cullen M |

My wife and I came here for dessert on our date night while my parents watched our little one. We were looking for a laid back place for something sweet with some drinks and we found it at Cafe Intermezzo. First, I'll talk about the atmosphere and staff. the cafe faces a courtyard, which does really help you relax, considering the location is in middle of a very busy part of town, traffic-wise. You have several options for where to sit: out in the courtyard, in a covered open-air part adjacent to the courtyard, inside, or in the cafe. We started inside and then decided the night air was nice enough to sit outside under the covered part. The staff were all very friendly and made good recommendations. You could tell they were invested in what the cafe had to offer. They all had a favorite drink or cake--sometimes, you go somewhere and an employee will say "oh, everything on the menu is good," which is not helpful. The people at Cafe Intermezzo were quite the opposite! I can't comment on the dinner menu as we only had cocktails and dessert, but their menu is quite extensive in those areas. The drink menu has just about anything you could possibly want. Chocolate martinis? Check. Fruity tropical drinks? Check. Port? Check. Irish Coffee? Check. You get the idea. I could have spent a week there and still not exhausted everything their drink menu had to offer. For dessert, you have to go inside and get a "tour" from one of the employees of the cake displays. They have two cases, one for regular cakes, and the other for cheese cakes. The cakes are made (or imported) daily, and like the drink menu, the offering is quite extensive. Once you make your decision, you return to your seat and your server will bring your cake out to you. We enjoyed our evening at Cafe Intermezzo. It was the perfect way to cap off our evening. We will definitely be back!

Best dessert in Atlanta

By shley17 |

After dinner at another local restaurant, we went to Cafe Intermezzo for dessert. We were not disappointed! We both live chocolate, so our choices centered around that, but their selection is so large that anyone would be happy with the food. Be warned, their chairs are awful! Small, rickety, and uncomfortable.

Great brunch!

By Erin W |

I ate here for the first time for brunch with a friend. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, dimly lit, antique styled wood and fixtures. I ordered a large Intermezzo Cappuccino, described as espresso, the essence of coffee, with steamed cream, cocoa, all topped with fresh whipped cream and cinnamon. My friend had the Caffe Intermezzo, espresso with steamed cream, essence of almond, cocoa powder and almond slices. Both coffees were delightful, pricey at over $8 each, but a generous size with great presentation. I ordered the Croque Madame, which is basically a hot ham & cheese sandwich, with bechamel sauce poured over it, and a fried egg on top. I chose their fried potatoes as a side. The sandwich was huge! It had a rich taste, all the flavors complimented each other. The potatoes were crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, just perfect. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict, which she said was terrific. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because the service was a little disappointing. We were tucked away in a corner, and forgotten at times. Our waiter was nice, but we waited over ten minutes before he took our coffee orders, and they weren’t very busy at the time. Once we got our food, he only checked on us once. I had to get his attention to get the check. All in all, a nice cafe with great atmosphere. I wouldn’t go if I was in a hurry. But, I’m already dying for another cappuccino.

Great for dessert, brunch or just drinks!

By Ali P |

This place is really one of my go to spots when I visit family in Atlanta. In addition to their extensive drink and dessert selection, they have a great food as well. They have something for every occasion whether you're looking for just drinks and dessert, a light brunch or a hefty lunch/dinner. The prices are a bit on the high side, but the atmosphere and location of this particular cafe is amazing. I like to sit outside when the weather isn't so swampy and it's a nice place to be. It's tucked away in a small shopping center so there's less to distract you. The service is good if sporadic. I happen to like that the staff isn't coming by every 2 minutes to ask if everything is good, but it can get a little annoying trying to find them to get your check. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It's great for couples, friends and even business luncheons.

Crepe or burrito?

By Chris G |

Ate at the bar. Bartender had no knowledge of the wines available. And did not offer a taste. Had the seafood crepe. It was just bad. A couple of sea scallops, super heavy creme sauce, and the crepe itself was too thick - a brute of a crepe that resembled a burrito. Its also after 8 and about 80 degrees in here - im sweating :(

Disappointed

By Chuck P |

Had not been here in a long time. Went for dessert and coffee after a concert. Was seated right away. Great weather (for January) so we sat on the patio. Server was very pleasant. The cake we ordered was horrible....dry and mealey....so I sent it back. The non-alcoholic coffee drinks were just ok, but were way overpriced. The coffee prices here make Starbucks look like a discount store, and I'm sure the desserts at the Cheesecake Factory (across the street) would have been better. Overall, a big disappointment. Won't be back anytime soon.

nice ambiance if you cant get in the airport lounge!

By Travelcato |

As you know Hartsfield Jackson in Atlanta is the busiest in the world. I've found that the Cafe Intermezzo is a great stop for a beer, breakfast or a chance to duck away from the madness. Its in Concourse B. One thing that impresses me is the price... breakfast runs about $8. Coffee is another $2.. but its real coffee . Be warned.. its not weak Duncan Donuts coffee.. more European ( or Starbucks). Food is good and we were very impressed with our server Vickie T. She was a great gal! Ambiance is another plus.. with some giant TVs being used as picture frames as opposed to loud programs. Theres even a neat little book store linked to the resto.

A trip to Europe for Breakfast!

By happy_in_paris_10 |

We've eaten breakfast here a few times this year (2018) when we really wanted to be back in France. It's pretty close for a leisurely breakfast on a weekend morning! It's a restaurant, a bakery, a market, a coffee shop - all with excellent gourmet goods. All with the atmosphere of a busy cafe in France or perhaps Italy. The pastries are sublime and the coffee amazing. They offer many dishes - but coffee and pastry is my speed for breakfast! Wonderful relaxing breakfast experience!

Might be good for breakfast, brunch

By MukeshT |

Dinner wasn't impressive, service was excellent. Food choices may be made better, quality can be improved.

Perfect place to meet people

By onemorepet |

This restaurant was suggested by some Atlanta natives we were meeting. The food was not quite superb but better than just good. What was amazing was dessert. They have racks of cakes and cheesecakes. I had the chocolate pumpkin cake. Amazing! My husband had a chocolate cake filled with chocolate and frosted in chocolate which vanished from the plate extremely quickly. The chocolate raspberry cake also got rave reviews from my friends. Apparently, the are open until very late even on week nights. We sat on the enclosed porch so it was quiet enough to talk. At 10 pm on a Wednesday night it had a lot of people in it. The waiter was very busy. We were tired and traveling so we didn't do a lot of adult beverages but the 2 cocktails that the men ordered were quite good. The whiskey list is good. The wine list looks good as well. Definitely worth trying again if I am passing through Atlanta again.

Late Night Spot, Great for Drinks and Dessert

By Rmeunseieq |

I have been to this place numerous times and honestly the food it ok but I go for the drinks and desserts. You must try the white chocolate amaretto cheese cake, so delicious! Their drink menu is a full book and it definitely has something for everyone. My favorite is a hot cappuccino with Baileys Irish Cream on a cool evening.

Overrated and Expensive - SKIP IT

By WorldTravelSnob |

It's hard to find a coffee/dessert spot in this area and this is the go to place, I guess. The hot drinks are waaaaay overpriced and not that great. I mean, I think Starbucks charging $5/$6 for a venti specialty coffee is crazy although I pay for it when I'm desperate not, but used to knock em back like H2O. It's sugar overload without any wow factor. The desserts are horrible. Trust me, I've tried several thinking I just picked a bad one but they are all pretty much disgusting. You're better off at Cheesecake Factory across the street for awesome desserts. It taste better, it's cheaper and such a better value. The sandwiches are average too. Nothing to write home about. Service is poor, extremely slow and inattentive even when there are very little customers there.

Disappointed on recent visit

By Carolyn B |

My daughters and I went by for coffee on my birthday. I've been here a number of times before and LOVE the Caramel Cappuccino. And when you pay almost $6 for a cup of coffee you expect it to be hot. Our coffees were lukewarm at best. Perhaps had been sitting a while prior to making it to our table. We sent them back. Replacements were no warmer and they were loaded on the top with cinnamon. What was that about? Took most of it off but still choked on some that was left. May think twice before meeting for work or with family. On a positive note, the chicken salad sandwich was delicious. Waitress was good considering how many tables she was serving.

Great Food!

By Geocacher48 |

We were here on a Sunday evening. We had to wait for a table. Unfortunately, god host told us they were under staffed. Our server was prompt; our food was served surprisingly fast. I had the Spicy Tortellini with Grilled Chicken. I highly recommend this dish if you enjoy some heat in your food. They may have been under staffed, but the service and quality of their food DID NOT suffer. We will return.

European flair and feel

By bodhi_zafa |

Just went here for brunch yesterday and had a wonderful visit. A vast offering of coffee, tea and hot chocolate will make you dizzy just trying to figure out what you want.... After you choose your drink, you then have to decide what to eat ---- again, so many decisions. Café Intermezzo has an old world charm in the heart of Dunwoody and reminded me of my time spent in Munich... I will definitely be coming back...

Okay, but not great

By only1kk |

I went to Cafe Intermezzo on an "undate." The tables were placed very close together so I felt very cramped, and the lighting was just a tad too dim for my taste. The tables were small and the chairs were even smaller. I'm not fat (size 12), but I felt like I was hanging off the sides of the chair. The food was okay but nothing spectacular. The service was good.

a wash

the service was as bad as the food was good, If you've ever wondered what it's like to be invisible you can get the experience here. A shameful incongruity..

The BEST ONE

My favorite place in ATL forever and always. Its always packed-and for good reason! The desserts here are beyond delicious and savory. The beverages offered make Starbucks look like Walmart brand coffee. There is something for everybody here. For the espresso taster to the frappuccino drinker. If the food & beverages don't "woo" you, the classical music and Baroque inspired decor will. Random note-the toilets here have a tassel from the ceiling that acts as a flusher...just saying thats pretty cool...

They do TEA well! Liked the food too

By Rita K |

We had their Earl Grey tea because we have loved it for decades. But most restaurants serve it lukewarm & whatever pot it's served in cools down quickly. Here they served it in a double-walled stainless French press & the tea stayed steaming hot the whole time. Our server Tristan even had the milk steamed too (his idea) so it wouldn't cool down our tea. This was our second time here. I had the popular chicken florentine crepe - very good. We had the original cheesecake & both liked it. My DH is a NY style cheesecake lover & was pleased. We will be back.

A little pricey but good food.

By Meredith K |

I had the duck omelet and it was very nice and flavorful. The drinks were too pricey for me especially when I can pour something similar or the same in my coffee at home or order it at other coffee shops. I bought a piece of Espresso Raspberry Cake to take home. Almost $10.00 but it was very yummy!

One of my Favorite restaurants

By Coachchadwell |

Even though it was busy, we were seated immediately with a group of 6. They have a large outside seating area. The food is wonderful. The service is excellent. Highly recommend the desserts. They are made from the best bakeries around town. Lovely place to meet with friends or a girls night out. Good place to go for just coffee and dessert too.

Dates, Friends..... Just Add Suga

This place specializes in extraordinary desserts. But they do serve breakfast, delicious coffees of any kind. Just go, eat and forget calories. Treat YoSelf. The staff will help you decide and they are great.

Great place for Coffe and Dessert

By SometimesRunner |

We frequent this restaurant mainly in the Fall/Winter time. They have a wide range of coffees and teas. Their pastry selection is really wide as well. They have a cheesecake display and another various cakes display. The mango lemon herbal tea was great; especially when you are getting over a cold. My husband ordered coffee with the very lemon cake. I ordered the Bosco; a tart fruit tart. Our waiter was great. He had recommendations on his favorites and was very personable.

Best European Cafe

I ve been here with my wife more than couple time and it has never disappointed us. Along with late night options, the drinks, cafe, and dessert options are uniquely comprehensive I would recommend this to all

Warm, Cozy, Romantic...A Must Try!

By lbloveslife |

Had desert and drinks at Cafe Intermezzo last Saturday. I loved it! The ambiance is really romantic (we were there at night) and actually witnessed a proposal. Our deserts were really good. Our drinks were fantastic. I highly recommend stopping by. We did not get a chance to check out their food however, I will on another day and in the meanwhile, this will be one of my top spots in Atlanta for after deserts and a night cap.

Late night Dessert

By Carlos W |

We love the desserts of this cafe. This was our late night treat place to walk to from the Ravinia. Awesome peanut butter chocolate cheesecake!

Dissapointing Brunch

By mskenney |

Brunch on Sunday should a no-brainer. Cappuccino order came wrong. Sent back, came back cold. Lox and naan were good but the southern breakfast sunny side up eggs were grossly uncooked. Sent back and the delay was long we canceled. The meal was comped (not the cappuccino) but the manager seemed more annoyed that he had to come out than he was about the poor food service.

Awful Service

By Mahin H |

There is no doubt that it was my last time at Dunwoody intermezzo. I went there with my best friend after a long time to have a good evening. We ordered water with no ice and lemon. After 15 minuets, the young black lady brought us 2 glasses of water full of ice and no lemon. When she came back to take our orders I asked her if she would first change our water! She grabbed the glasses to change them, after a second she turned around and slammed the glasses on the table and in a rude manner said she would ask someone else to take care of us. We asked for the manager and explained the situation but seemed the manager doesn’t care either. The manager was not professional neither the server. No wonder the service was awful cause there is no consequences. Definitely will not go back.

good dessert

By HWgirl |

we went with friends because we were looking for a patio to hang out on and chill for a while..... had been here another time before and it was good so we went back.... big mistake.... we sat outside and waited...and waited for our server Richard to finally show up and then he only took our friends order and walked away like we were invisible..... so we waited...... and finally went in to look at the dessert case... they all look SO good.... decided on oreo cheesecake :) went back out and waited....... finally he came back and took our order.... our friend waited about 20 min for her coffee to come out? they were not busy the only saving grace to all of this was the hostess Katie, she was awesome! we flagged her down and she filled waters and checked on us and ultimately became our server... she said that she was hopefully moving to a server position soon and that is where she needs to be.... she has a great attitude for serving! we gave the tip to Katie not Richard. Great coffee and dessert selection. if the service is there its a great date place to just chill.... but don't get Richard as a server!

Great Dessert Place

By djbls |

We came here after having dinner somewhere else. The place was packed and it's huge. They have a beautiful patio area. The inside is rather dark and cramped, but we were getting desserts for takeout. They give you a "tour" of the dessert cases--one side is cheesecake and the other side is everything else! The variety is amazing. Service very good and prices reasonable for what you get. The pieces were very generous. Both the tiramisu and the orange cake were outstanding. I would definitely go back! Great selection of coffee, after dinner drinks and of course desserts!

I wish it was closer to where I live!

By Aletta P |

I loved Cafe Intermezzo when it was in midtown. This was my fist visit to this location, but the quality is equally as high! Great coffee!! I'm trying to watch my calories. So, I got a sugar free/skim milk latte & it was wonderful!

The Best

By msojones |

On a girls date out, we went to Cafe Intermezzo and absolutely love everything about it! From the server, the food, and deserts, we are going back for more!

I love this plac we some time its growded but the food and service always always amazing almost be very visit I am there

Would rather argue and prove they are right than give you good food.

By odear3 |

I ordered this sandwich which is supposed to have Brie on it. I tasted - no Brie. I asked the waiter and he took it back. He brought the sandwich back and said yes, there is Brie on it. Then a floor manager came over and said everyone looked at it and decided there was Brie on the sandwich - YUCK!!! Do I want everyone touching my sandwich??? Just bring me some Brie - my God! I know Brie when I taste it. Couldn't eat it - don't go there.

Nice atmosphere, cool patio, decent service.

By Vida y Viajes |

Nice atmosphere, cool patio, decent service. I say decent because I ordered salmon for my salad and instead I got shrimp. That's fine they are both water-related food. Actually, the shrimp was pretty tasty. The salad was the almond avocado salad. It was just okay, rather mediocre. The shrimp saved it. I gave it a 3 since the other dishes that people ordered looked good.

Cute place...food, just okay

By AtlMMW |

We has a party of four at 12:30 on 3-3-2019. I ordered cheese scrambled eggs, a croissant, potatoes, and fruit. The potatoes and croissant were very good. The fruit was okay...but the eggs were hard, not very hot, and the cheese was not mixed throughout. The coffee was cold. We sent our coffee back.

Great service and Food

By stefann17 |

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with plenty of seating. Plethora of choices of spirits on the bar. There are also an assortment of fresh cakes to choose from at the counter. Wait staff is attentive and courteous. The banquet area they have is also nice, just a tad small in my opinion. The food is fresh and well seasoned. The red velvet cake however, wasn’t up to par. I would eat here again for sure. I had a very satisfying meal and relaxed experience here at this cafe.

terrible decline of a once unique institution

By alex v |

Hostess was terrible, rude, unconcerned, waiter was helpful. Very loud and really more of a meeting place for hip-hop drinking..not for me. I remember it when it served fine Viennese pastries with audible classical music---no longer. Deserts are bland.

Awesome Coffee/Dessert Cafe

By Gwen H |

I have been frequenting the Cafe Intermezzo Park Place since 1988. They expanded this location with good reason. There used to be a crazy wait for a table, but now there is inside and outside seating. There is a wide variety of coffee, lattes etc... as well as wonderful tasty desserts and savory fare. The service I have received has always been great and I have dined there early afternoon, late afternoon and late night. It's a great place to go for Dessert or Coffee after an evening out. I highly recommend checking out the Desserts. They are fabulous!!! I love this location and will continue to dine there with friends.

Good place for a late breakfast

By Jim M |

After a doctor's appointment stop at Cafe Intermezzo. Good place for a late breakfast. The coffee was great and loved the patio.

Love the Environment!

By Cal S |

My wife, son, and I decided to try eating a late meal at this location. Although our server was new, starting on her first day, she did an outstanding job. We had to tell Mr. Anthony Abbott, Manager, of our wonderful experience during our stay. Oh, the food was also outstanding. We had, "breakfast"...

Terrible food and service

By frugaltravelerdc |

We went here recently intrigued by the idea of a "Viennese style" cafe in Atlanta. We were quite impressed initially by the ambience (fin de siecle decor) and the extensive drinks menu which ran to 65 pages. We were there at night for coffee and dessert. However, it all went downhill from there. They didn't have most of the coffees we ordered, and made no effort to tell what's indeed available. Finally I ordered a cafe cubano which tasted like dishwater. The black magic cake was pasty and the waiter was rather unhelpful. We went hoping to spend a few hours but left shortly after. I would have given it one star but for the ambience. (I'm hoping it is because of Friday night staff shortage..)

European

By Frances A |

Made me feel like I was traveling and stopped by a little cafe along the way. Enjoy the hours of operation. Desserts are delightful.

Great Food!

A little Europe in Atlanta. Crepes and entrees were both terrific. Breakfast is available all the time. The drink menu is 68 pages alone. Enjoy!

Divine Desserts

By Shanker B |

We stopped here after a lunch for father's day just to have dessert. This is a phenomenal place for cakes. There was a 30 minute wait to be seated - so we skipped the line and decided to get our desserts to go. We got a chocolate cake, an almond fudge cake and a strawberry cake. The cakes were divine. We sat in the shaded gazebo and binged on the cakes. Inspite our best efforts - we were not able to finish the cakes :) we have brought the cakes back home to enjoy later as well - Highly recommended.

Loved it

By mike0416 |

I went with my wife and friends. It was little expensive but the food was great.. Loved it. I will go again.. Will take some friends too..

variety of coffee

By GRANDBLUES |

there are so many kinds of coffee and they are all good! I enjoy midnight coffee with some alcohol. My favorite drink is Joe Carwright. it has super high cal., but it is so good! Cakes are good, too.

Just ok - service dropped off after 6:30pm

By Connie933 |

We were there for a friends birthday party that started at 5pm. There were 13 of us. The drinks were great and the food was ok. My choice wasn't anything special although others in our group seemed to really enjoy their food. The service was great to start with but as it got more crowded it definitely slowed down. By 7pm our server was so busy with other tables we couldn't get her attention to get another drink. I did like look of the selection of desserts but chose not not to order any because I knew we wouldn't be getting anything we ordered in a timely manner. It took a little while to get our servers attention so we could pay and leave. We left while others in the group were still waiting for their dessert to arrive. The only way I would return here would be if our friends wanted to go back and even then I'd try to talk them out of it if we were going to be there after 6pm.

Excellent Food Choice

By Bug_Doctor |

I have eaten at this restaurant a few times at the Atlanta airport. The food choice is excellent and the food is unbelievably good. One of these days, I will eat the dessert and pass on the food.

Delicious lunch on a cold day!

By CFSilver |

Few people were out on this cold but sunny day. Cozy and warm inside with nice view of snow flurries outside. Great service and yummy chicken crepes. Extensive drink menu including coffees, teas, hot chocolates, wines, etc.

European coffee house flavor & style

By BookLaurie |

Stenciled on one wall is the Talleyrand quote (in Italian) about how coffee should be "black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, and sweet as love." That's just one of the charming touches which differentiate this place from Starbucks. Another is the pastry case -- they literally give tours of it -- and the fresh flower on every table. A real coffeehouse spirit.

dissapointed

By tigresseromantique |

Well this is the first negative review I have had to do in quite some time. It was just after 5pm on a Friday. One of the first really nice days in March. We asked to sit outside, and were told that area was not open but the "indoor patio" was where we were seated. Almost as good. A musty smell appeared intermittently and I wrote it off to water leaking from outside in to the paver covered indoor patio. The restaurant has a European charm kind of atmosphere. The server was uncomfortable with people. Not friendly and not efficient. We had to ask for more water and he did not check if we wanted anymore libations. He did not have a good command of the menu items and at the end of our dinner, did not even offer us dessert. I believe they are famous for their dessert selection? I noticed numerous servers standing in around at the hostess station and milling around in the back, but none of them including the one serving myself and my friend seemed to be paying attention to their customers. Frequently I witnessed them "cutting up" with someone I would have thought was the manager. I don't want anyone to work in a dungeon but it seemed a little unprofessional. Now to the food. I ordered Chicken Florentine. Grilled chicken with spinach artichoke sauce on a bed of Spinach". It was the size of a tapa and the "bed" of spinach was just enough to peek out of chicken breast. The breast however was cooked well and tasted nice. The pannini ordered by my friend was a Chicken chipotle. It came out dry (no chipotle mayo) and it was over cooked and dry. Dessert was delicious.

Lunch with dessert to go

By Meredith K |

Oh the seafood crepe! Wonderful. Just a tad spicy with a splash of sherry. I might have liked the sauce a little thicker with seafood but it was Very good! I cleaned my plate so I had to get a piece of raspberry charlotte to go. Wonderfully flavorful and light!

Great Late Night Spot

By Primadonna9 |

Café Intermezzo is a great late night spot for desserts and flavored coffee with and without liquor. There desserts never disappoint!

Great hot chocolate and desserts!

By Cesar F |

Great service and hot chocolate and coffees. Nice and quiet atmosphere. Liked the most the service but not the cold cream on the chocolate.

Late night desserts, coffee and coco

By Shauna F |

We loved this cafe. It was a lot different from anything in our home town. We went late around 12pm. We tried the Intermezzo hot chocolate with caramel, Turkish coffee, and another I can’t recall. There were plenty of desserts to choose from and the drink menu comes almost in book form. Would definitely go again!
