Great Breakfast!

By r1chH |

Went here for breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. Was very busy when we arrived only waited about 5 minutes and we're seated inside. Within a few minutes our order was in. They have plenty of staff which is great for these busy times. I ordered the Saumon Fume and my fiancee ordered The N-Liberties. We're not much of coffee or late drinkers but they must be good because everyone else was ordering them. Waited about 10 minutes and the food came out, this is pretty quick because it was very busy. The dishes were 👌, so flavorful and not overly heavy. The salad that came with my dish was very refreshing and not something you would normally associate with breakfast but went perfectly. The salmon on top of the pumpernickel with all the flavors of the spreads was amazing. Sweet potato home fries with the sunny side eggs paired very well. My fiancee's dish The N-Liberties was equally as good. The hummus with the cauliflower and spicy sujuk ground sausage went together great. She was overly happy with it and I also had a bunch of samples too. This is a place I would definitely come back to and their take on breakfast with a French-Lebanese twist is perfect.

Amazing food and service

By Thea T |

I love the food here. You can't go wrong with any of their options. The service is wonderful. Prepare for a long wait on the weekends but it's well worth it. I usually go on a weekday morning just to avoid the lines.

Delish!

Loved this place! I had the eggs Benedict and would recommend it and the potatoes were perfect! Everyone was friendly and service was good!

A true taste of the Mediterranean

By efustok |

Dear foodie readers, here is a 5 star rated restaurant you must visit when in Phili....we went twice in a row we loved it so much...it is not in the main touristy areas...I knew about it from my cousin who lives there....we walked in both times, but it definitely gets very busy, especially during brunch. It is such a cozy place, but they have a lot of seating outdoors as well...service was excellent, the owner always checks in to make sure we are doing well....I had the salmon faume, which was fantastic...mouth watering deliciousness...the next day I had the Mediterranean breakfast, and once again a smash, it was so good. Hit all the tastebuds...my husband enjoyed his shakshuka, and foul....I do not remember if it is first come, or they take reservations, but if you can it is preferable...foodies you will love it!

The best in Philly

Best breakfast in Philly. Hands down. Ideal for couples or family. Staff are courteous and fun! Petmalu!! - Ivan

Food here is a glorious event!

By NYerinPhilly |

Breakfast, brunch or lunch are all events here. The food is spectacular and worth the inconvenience of finding a parking spot in this residential community. But once you're in and seated at the cafe, the coffee alone will make you glad that you ventured out. The staff is practically all related; friendly, accommodating, and really interested in making sure you have a good time and good food. Go hungry. And if you're not hungry, the presentations of other people's food will make you order anyway. Go and enjoy!

Great brunch place in Northern Liberties!

By Cachamoto |

I went to this place with my wife. We had ordered the specials: The New Orleans Po Boy with flounder, shrimp. avocado and dressing and the Poutinethat included two eggs over-easy with gravy, fried plantains, fries, and sausage. These two specials offer the opportunity to get a taste of the French and Lebanese-influenced cuisine. The location does not have many seats so we waited less than 10 minutes to get a table. I strongly recommend this place.

Perfect Brunch!

By Fanfromphilly |

We went with family that live in the area and thought we were on a mini get away. The combinations of food and the taste awakened our palates. Definitely the best brunch we have had, with great attention to detail.

Cafe La Maude truly a Philly brunch gem

By Feisal M |

Stumbled upon this treasure while looking for a breakfast cafe on a Sunday last week in Philly. It may be easy to overlook the simple cafe shopfront but you definitely can’t miss the warm welcome when you get there. Gaby was helpful and accommodating, ensuring that we were seated comfortably with our 2 year old. Mickey took our order and along with a great team of servers, ensured took care of us - always checking in to make sure we didn’t need anything . Service standards are high here. Our breakfast choices were delicious - from the Red Velvet Tiramusu Pancakes to the Baklava Pancakes and the Green Shakshuka as well as the Berrylicious Pain Perdu - each dish as delightful as the other. Hard to choose a winner! So many other great options on the menu, Cafe La Maude, delivers on the promise of being Philly’s best brunch specialist.

We came for lunch. Delicious food, great service and nice ambience. We were able to find street parking. Highly recommend!

Best Brunch in Philly

By marienedy |

Not only is this the best brunch in Philly, it is the best I have had in my forty years! Each entree is a work of art- visually and in taste! The owner makes everyone feel like a guest in his home. All of the staff are friendly, and the decor is cozy. I can’t say enough good things about this place- we were incredibly impressed.

Love this place for brunch

By ingridengine |

Love the food especially for brunch. Fresh ingredients and nice portions. Love the French toast and the 4 cheese omelette.

I wish I had more hands to give this place 4 thumbs up!

By Billy |

Very Cute Atmosphere but more important, It is SUPER Delicious!!! Parisian Za, need I say more
SOOOO Many great options if you like something other than a diner food
Also, You can’t go wrong with “Croque Maude” “Tiramisu Pancakes” ”Sweet Potato Benny” “Brisket Huevos Rancheros” “ Quatre Fromage” OK OK I could go on and on
No Matter what your taste is that day, they do it on a whole another level. You will NOT be Disappointed here, if you are, we can’t be friends

A Fathers Day tradition + ANY other opportunity to get there!

By JimJacksonSr |

Eating here for Brunch has become our Fathers Day tradition. We travel from Washington, DC to participate in the Gary Papa Prostate Cancer race every Fathers Day. Afterwards, my wife, daughter and son in law go here for my Fathers day celebration with family. The owners of this restaurant are wonderful people. The service they provide is always personal and professional. The food is amazing! Get the Waffles! They are my favorite. Bring a bottle of champagne for your mimosas. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable. The owners will always check on you to see how all is going for you. We will always make this at a minimum our every Fathers Day Brunch experience.

Rich breakfast

By Damir R |

They offered a rich breakfast and it was also tasty. The place is not big yet have enough space. Spent some time with the kind owners.

Lively place

By Jan B |

This is a great breakfast and brunch restaurant. The owner was very friendly and chatty. It has an eclectic spread in the menu from salads to sandwiches, omelettes and Benedicts. However the seating is quite cramped and when the place is full, it has very little room between chairs for the waiters to go through. Literally the waiters and customers have to squeeze through often pushing others' chairs! However the service was great and food delicious!

If you have the time...

By phl-worldtraveler |

I had been hearing rave reviews about brunch at cafe la maude and decided to finally check it out. I was expecting there to be a wait, but not a 40 min outside wait at that. Nonetheless, was excited to be seated and check out the menu. Let me first say that the food here is phenomenal (check out the sweet potato benny I had!) but the prices were outrageous. Eggs & coffee ended up costing us almost $30 a person, egg dishes were about $19 and coffee was $3.25. I think there are better options in the city, ones that take reservations as well, to be checked out. I also found the service to be pretty subpar. I overheard the waitress rushing the table next to us to clear their plates, she then proceeded to badger us about being finished. I think I spent less than 30 minutes inside at a table, so most of my experience was from outside the cafe. Again, if you have the time, go for it. Or go to Jerry’s and enjoy jazz music and fair pricing!

Very laid back atmosphere, friendly owner and waiters. The menu is extensive with amazing selections. A must be for anyone who visits Philadelphia. I always bring friends and this is a Happy place after a tough day at work.

Lunch

Food is homemade and fabulous. Owner on premises and visits to make sure everything is to your liking. Try the Shashuka, out of this world. I always take home homemade soups for the next day.

This has to be Philadelphia's best brunch...

By Brad M. |

WOW! You will get it ALL here: great service, lively atmosphere and incredible food. You're not likely to find breakfast dishes like this elsewhere. The Green Shakshuka was so flavorsome and just absolutely delicious. The servings are quite generous so come hungry! I HIGHLY recommend Cafe La Maude as easily one of the top brunch experiences I've had.

Fun casual with an european flair

Masterpiece

By Bilal Motley |

The owner welcomes you with a big smile every time. The service is exceptional. The food, full of flavor, will make you cry and ‘beg for buttermilk’. This is the best brunch spot in the country! Yeah I said it.

Very nice!

By FLX |

Very good food. Very different dishes even if you think you are familiar with the Mediterranean food. Some dishes are excellent, some are just ok but overall is very good. Inside is not much but cozy enough. Service is absolutely perfect. Overall, I would recommend it.

Charming place, great atmosphere, delicious food

By Michail Y |

Small place but always packed and busy. But that's not a surprise because everything there is just phantastic! I really like the owner who tried to do everything so we can enjoy our time there. Delicious food. I got no chance to try their desserts because I was full but I'm definitely gonna be back for them! Thank you very much for such great place!

Good Food and Good Portions

By saturdaydiner |

We had lunch here on a warm March day. Nice enough to sit out, but business was booming at around 1:00 PM so we sat inside. Nice set up if a bit tight, and friendly waitress service. The food was very good if a bit pricey but portions were good size and the plates had a nice variety to them. Most breakfast came with excellent potatoes m, maybe a small salad and a bit of fruit. Very nice lunch. If there is a drawback it would be the way loud guy who seemed to be in charge. He was very gregarious, but he was also kind of bossy with the waitresses publicly and it was unnecessary as service was excellent. Also, I think we were either overcharged for iced tea and coffee or they charged extra for refills. I should have asked so that's on me I guess.

Aaaaamazing brunch!

By Rachel F |

I was recently in Philadelphia and wanted a brunch spot to take friends that was different from the spots we typically visit. Cafe La Maude definitely fit the bill. We arrived ahead of our friends and grabbed a coffee from the bar. When we inquired about paying, the barista said for us to just tell our server when we got to our table. The honor system - gotta love it! We headed outside to sip our coffees and that is where the real treat began. We got to meet Gabby (sp?) the owner who treats everyone like an old friend. We jokingly called him the mayor of the block. He seemed to know everyone coming in and out of the restaurant. In fact, one couple waited to leave so that they could say good bye personally and give Gabby a hug. We knew we had stumbled onto a gem. We had a fairly long wait outside during which our coffees were refreshed and fresh cream and sugar brough to us. When we were seated, what a delight the menu turned out to be. We opted for the Mediterranean dishes (which I can't remember the names of now). I had a dish with hummus, yogurt with spices, fried cheese and pita accompanies by the freshest tomatoes and cucumbers. Layer all that goodness up and it is like Heaven! The BF had an egg dish which also included ground fava beans. He said it was tasty! Overall, this is an amazing place and we can't wait to go back. I bet Gabby remembers his new friends from St. Louis.

Breakfast on a new level

By Companion661628 |

It's a pretty tight place when the crowds are around but it is worth the wait. The atmosphere is pleasant and calm. You can tell they really pride themselves on great food, and creating memories for family and friends. They create amazing displays with there dishes and everything taste great. I've been a few times but this is definitely one of my favorite places for breakfast/brunch and sometimes dinner.

An Outstanding Breakfast!

My wife and I shared the Classic Eggs Benedict and the French Toast with strawberries and bananas. It all tasted great!

Reggie

By Reginald B |

Hands down my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in the city. If you are tired of the typical American fare breakfast, this is the place you are looking for.

Glad we went!

By darxhow |

We were supposed to go back to Honey Sit n Eat but THANKFULLY we decided to follow the crowd. First, nice atmosphere. The servers were very helpful and made you want to return. Second, the selection was varied. My friend had the Parisian Za which she couldn't stop praising. I had the Burger a la Salmon (I know boring) which was good. I found the salmon in the patty to be too fine but overall good. I would return without any hesitation.

Cafe La Maude exceeded our high expectations

By Christina W |

Based on reviews, we took my niece here for her 24th Birthday brunch. This restaurant exceeded its excellent reviews in terms of menu options, food presentation and taste, and service. The menu was appealing with unique options like tiramisu pancakes and red velvet pancakes, etc. It was so good, the 3 of us order four meals because we couldn't narrow it down to 3. Every single item was mouth-wateringly delicious! The staff were friendly and funny - very entertaining. When they learned that it was my niece's birthday, they found a birthday candle and helped us sing to her. They even took an interest in our football/soccer team who we were in town to see and shared stories (which we invited them to do) about their own favorite teams. Cafe La Maude is now a must-visit on all of our future Philly trips.

Great Brunch

By Kathy R |

Excellent food, great service, a bit expensive but not overly. No reservations and place popular even on weekdays, nbut wait was reasonable.

great unusual food

By mrsc15 |

I went here for a birthday brunch and while expensive, it was all very good food The wait was very long for a table and I don't know if I'd wait that long again, but for a special occassion, it's worth the trip.

Excellent food and a wonderful selection

By kalisilat |

Excellent food and a wonderful selection of offerings. Will definitely be back!! Nice area as well and friendly staff

Believe the review's

By Golfdick |

I am happy to report that the reviews are true. From the host coming outside to take our reservation because it was so crowed inside ( via the phone no less). Food was a 10. Service was energetic, friendly, and professional. A great experience

Excellent brunch!

By Dr. Afia |

One of the best brunches in Philly. This place is tiny and intimate but much bigger than it looks when you first come in. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. The menu is a creative and tantalizing blend of Lebanese and French cuisine. I had the grilled lamb which was fabulous. I wish the grits were seasoned but the rest of the dish was perfection--the flavors complimented each other perfectly. Our service was impeccable. Several waiters checked on us constantly and everything we asked for was brought promptly. We did feel rushed st the end of our meal, but they did it in a rather subtle manner and being in the industry I understand how important it is to turn tables during peak hours. This place is perfect for a girls brunch or intimate lunch dinner. Next time I'll try one of their many flavored mimosas.

Brunch

By Wenzroc |

I was on my way to eat at my usual Brunch spot " Honey's" when my girlfriend told me to let's try this place up the street. I'm so glad we listen because the food was amazing! The place is very nicely decorated. The wait staff are very attentive and helpful in suggesting what to try. I normally don't eat brisket for bunch but I'm so glad I did because it was delectable. try this place out ! You won't be disappointed

Fantastic menu and best brunch ever

By Ameera Williams |

We were impressed by the wide variety of choices on the menu. The eggs shashushka were incredible. The coffee was great, staff were very friendly and it was a nice venue. You can also bring your own alcohol.

Mouth watering

By travellerfromatown |

Just looking at the photos of the food makes my mouth water. Because the taste matches the beautiful presentation. I had a decadent Nutella banana pancake dish that was worth the calories. A friend was healthier, opting for the oatmeal, with lovely toppings. My husband chose the wonderfully flavored gypsy eggs and another friend cleared his plate of eggs and sausage. We all also enjoyed the friendly service and charming decor. Wish we lived in Philly!

Beautifully prepared and lots to eat!

By Long-strange-journey |

It says something about the quality of the food when the wait staff is eager to recommend so much on the menu. We had a hard time making up our minds what to order during our first visit to Cafe La Maude -- everything on the French inspired not only sounds like something worth trying, but it looks just as wonderful as well. The large plates of French toast and waffles for example came loaded with fruit and cream and topped with big sprigs of mint. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. The price is somewhat high -- upwards of $15 for more for most plates, but well worth the money - you get plenty on your plate. They also serve a variety of coffees and teas, among other things. I also love the atmosphere - an attempt to look like a real French cafe. We will definitely be back!

Great diner

By Betty Mae |

Absolutely fabulous. Highly recommend. Definitely order a few appetizers and small plates. Sandwiches are great.

A Great Neighborhood Restaurant

By Dvrnative |

This is a small, family owned neighborhood restaurant on North 4th Street. The owner greeted us as we entered. Although their breakfast menu isn’t large, it is quite good and you could definitely find something that would satisfy your taste buds. Their cappuccinos and lattes are excellent. Great atmosphere. Would totally go back there again.

What an incredible place! The food and service were so wonderful. The environment is nice and cozy, and the food so unique :)

Average food and loud owner

By Ositojoe |

The food is at best average compared to Isot which in my opinion has the best Lebonanese food in Philadelphia. The owner was annoying loud in ordering his staff.

Great brunch with a French twist

By TRAVELHAIR |

Went here for birthday celebration with friends and food was great.. I love French cuisine and this place nailed it.. It was like dining at a friends home. I have returned a few times..

Amazing brunch in Northern Liberties!

By Karen F |

What a gem in Northern Liberties! We took our son and his girlfriend here for brunch today and had a difficult time choosing which items to order. The menu has something for everyone. My son and I enjoyed the Quatre Fromage Omelet which was incredible. The presentation of each of the plates was pure artistry, and the food was fresh, healthy and quite generous in size. The prices are a bit high, but even my husband (who hates to pay too much for a meal) felt that it was worth it and would like to go back again Service was impeccable, and the owner stopped by the table to make sure all was OK. Can't wait to go back again

Fantastic brunch!

By April Z |

I love this place. It’s in a cute neighborhood in Philly, and it has bakery options as well as seating with tables. Usually this place is packed for brunch, so plan accordingly! I would highly recommend. The wait staff is friendly and attentive.

Must go!

By Gail K |

What a gem! We went with family today, the place was packed. They offer unique brunch items, along with tasty sandwich selections. It was truly hard to decide what to order, from the descriptions, everything sounded delicious. I had Petit Steak- tasty steak pieces with seasoned hash, served with 2 sunnyside-up eggs. The sauce over it was-yummo! And the servers...very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely go back again! I highly recommend going here, 5 stars!

Okey Doke

By pookala |

After reading lots of raves I was excited to try this Northern Liberties spot. It’s a perfectly pleasant cafe but worth a special trip? I don’t think so. The cappuccino was very good and the service was warm & efficient. The food was unfortunately not up to the same standards especially given the price. A lunch for two came to $50 with tax & tip. The simple breakfast for $13 is one of the least expensive choices and consists of 2 eggs, choice of a chicken or pork sausage patty, a slice of French toast, pancake or waffle, fruit & hash brown loaf. The French Toast was cut too thickly & the inside was very doughy with no caramelization on the outside. All in all a pretty ho-hum platter. The Saumon Fume was their version of a lox & cream cheese choice with thinly sliced pumpernickel toasts instead of a bagel. Salad served with this entree was also unremarkable. A nice spot if you’re in the neighborhood.

A true neighborhood gem

By Deborah B |

Everything you read is true. Their (mildly) spiced chicken is divine. I got it as a side and wished I’d gotten it as main dish. Fantastic atmosphere, with tables lon the street (but it’s quiet and separated) and you can smell the divine food from when you turn the corner. Service is also genuine and super friendly. A must go!

Best brunch ever

By Stefaniefarrah |

No wonder this place is ranked so high on here. The food is incredible. My favorite food is Lebanese and this place did not disappoint. I tried my friends dishes as well and they were wonderful. The owner is very nice and the service is great. The only thing I did not care for was the type of cheese in my omelet, but the potatoes, salad, fruit, tea, cookies, baklava and labne were fab. I would love to come here again and try more things.

Unique, delightful, tasty

By Mark F |

Unique and special delight. The food was amazing and the service fantastic. This is a quaint spot that is well worth visiting.

Amazing Meal in Philly!

By Joel JZ |

We walked into this nice little place my wife picked out to go to and said it was a top pick of hers. So we walk on to the mid noise level place, and the owner, Gabi greets us as we walk in. And asked us if we want to sit in the front or back of the restaurant. we picked a spot out front in a full house restaurant at 2 pm. after lunch on a Friday! I was so excited to feel the vibe in the place while writing my review. We went with the Shakshuka with veggies and goat cheese. That was a mouth full of Mediterranean flavors! So delicious! We followed up with the Berrylicious Pain Perdu. We could not decide on the Mascapon or the Nutella, so we went with both. 0MG, a must try! better than dessert but a place where you can really enjoy a meal.

Excellent all around

By Global715797 |

We went here last November and I still can't stop raving about the food and service. Their brunch portions are sizable and delicious, and the owners are incredibly hospitable and entertaining. Highly recommend it to anyone in/passing through/around Philadelphia.

Excellent food and a fun dining experience.

By eliza39 |

My friends and I had breakfast here yesterday to celebrate the New Year and a birthday. It was a great time and an excellent breakfast. The menu here is imaginative and inventive. dishes are wonderful. We ordered the Tiramasu pancakes, the Berrylicious, sweet potatoe Benny and the Green Shakshuka and if you are not feeling adventurous they have a simple breakfast offering . Each was delicious. more importantly, the service is exceptional. Owner was on hand, greeting diners and engaging. Our server was attentive, fun and made us feel more like old friends than diners. We will be back soon and often

Perfect...could not have been better

By TophersTravels71 |

Went for breakfast on a Sunday with the kids. We were seated right away. The menu was varied without being overwhelming. Service was perfect and everyone’s food was exquisite. Even the kids waffles were light and fluffy without being limp. If we lived in Philly, I’d eat here every week.

Can’t beat this brunch!

By Angelina L |

We frequent this restaurant for brunch and it is always 10/10! The service is quick and attentive and the food is delicious. Great brunch place and worth the wait to be seated if necessary!

Philadelphia Creative Brunch Staple

By The-prince-of-Egypt |

Café la Maude is becoming a staple of Philadelphia with great service and eclectic creative variety of food. Every time I go, their menu gets updated with amazing creative ideas. The red velvet pancakes are so delicious and fluffy. The idea of combining pancakes, tiramisu and red velvet cake all in ones is stunning! The pancakes have that rich red velvet texture inter-layered with the Tiramisu mascapone cheese and topped with cocoa powder and delicious whip cream. Out of this world! Perfect brunch on a beautiful sunny day. The location is great with multiple restaurants on the same block and close to the northern liberties restaurants. The service is great and the owner is very nice and friendly. Even though there was a huge crowd waiting, he was energetic and worked on seating everyone on time.

Great place

By Stella G |

We’ve been here many times, never disappointed. Food is delicious and service is great. Would recommend for breakfast/brunch/lunch

Delicious food, super friendly service, great atmosphere

By CZinDC |

Absolutely amazing breakfast in Philly. A quick cab ride from the central hotel district and so so worth it. We had the hummus and foul platter with eggs and the Le Chef vegetarian omelette with beans avocado and cauliflower. Both were excellent. The potatoes they serve with the egg dishes are to die for -- and the service was just so warm and friendly. Quite a stroll back to the center of the city but well worth the trek. I'd give it 6 stars if possible. I'll definitely be back!

East meets south meets west

By Hale F |

Stopped here for brunch. I'm from the Deep South so I questioned the lamb chops over cheese grits, pouched eggs and chili Reno. Creamy excellent combination of flavors. Everyone else enjoyed the other unique Lebanese/Mediterranean dishes.

Great coffee and other deliciousness

By Explore579661 |

This thoughtfully appointed cafe has a Lebanese and French influenced menu. We enjoyed a delicious brunch with pain perdu, sweet potato eggs Benedict and a simple breakfast of sausage eggs and French toast. The serving sizes pretty average. The pain perdu was not sweet at all, and the marscapone took on the flavor of the berries surrounding it. The eggs benedict was rich and hearty. The service was authentic, friendly and prompt. The fresh squeezed OJ was amazing, and the coffee was really full flavored and not bitter. Exactly as described!

Magnificent food

By Kathleen P |

Our normal breakfast place was closed today - so we went in search of someplace new and found this gem. The chef/creator has a wonderful palate - the balance was perfect - fresh, bright layering of flavors. It’s not located in a neighborhood we are familiar with - but we were happily surprised and look forward to our next visit. A+

Some of the very best food in Philadelphia

A group of us (who live in Philly) get together regularly for birthdays etc., and we often end up coming back to Cafe La Maude. The food is just top notch! This is highly recommended to anybody!

One of Philly's Best Brunches

By jimdolancc1 |

This is a hands down favorite for breakfast or brunch. Great Parisian feel to the place with a Mediterranean twist...so you can get foul, shakshuka as well as great Benedict options, Saumon Fume' or just a plain old "big breakfast" of eggs, pancake and sausage. Lots of very fresh cucumber, avocado, pita and fruits to complement the dishes. The staff bustles about quickly and efficiently and has a great attitude. Just go.....

The best Lebanese places in Northern liberties

Whether is breakfast or brunch, cafe la Maude is always a solid choice for a delicious and hearty meal. There are many options to chose from and the drinks/coffee are very good.

Always the best service and amazing food. Gabi is the best always keeps the restaurant flowing. We arrived there and there was a long wait but he got us in and accommodate us and everyone that was coming through the door. Always a must when we go to Philly!!!!

So good we went twice

By Autumn M |

We went for breakfast and everything was amazing. Great flavor and great quality. The dirty chai was delicious. We enjoyed it so much we went back to for lunch. Everything was delicious. This is my new favorite spot. The service is great.

Our favorite restaurant in Philly

By hutch08 |

We were introduced to Café la Maude a few years ago, and it is easily our favorite place to eat. Natalie runs a wonderful café - the food is amazing, the service is great, and the atmosphere puts Cheers to shame. The food is a French-Lebanese fusion, and goes from meatloaf, to the open-face Lebanese burrito, to wonderful waffles. The menu is the same from open to close - a mixture of sandwiches and dishes (the Sweet potato Benny is great) for brunch. Coffee and tea are fresh and very good. There are a few desserts - the macarons are very good. Overall, this is an experience to share with family and friends--one of the few true cafes in Philadelphia. It gets crowded on weekends, so come early.

A great place for brunch or casual breakfast

By SAMY19106 |

We had brunch at Cafe la Maude, several times and were never disappointed. The service is attentive and personalized. it brings an old world charm. The food is home made and very tasty. Don't be surprised if the waiter or the owners stop by and asks you how you liked what you just ate and engage in a conversation.'She speaks perfect french!

Best breakfast ever

By Voldar15 |

Traveled all over the world and this was hands down the best breakfast ever. It’s hard to innovate at breakfast but the beef short rib breakfast was insanely great the presentation also was great. (See picture) so much on the menu looked interesting.. highly recommended!

Eclectic

By Barbara L |

Got lucky on a Saturday and squeezed into a 530 reservation. The place was packed. Be prepared, the dining room is cramped, and you sit very close to the table next to you. Other than that, it's a great restaurant. Fun, small place with delicious food and attentive service. The food is made to order, so relax and enjoy the neighborhood quirky atmosphere.

Brisket Huevos Rancheros!

By Laura N |

We listened to the waitress and so glad we did. I got the berrylicious pain perdu and while it was absolutely delicious I had some serious order envy of my husbands huevos rancheros, lucky for me he shared :) The place is small but with outdoor seating and a great staff and they're really good at making sure there's not a long wait without making customers feel rushed. A little on the pricey side but well worth it.

great Mediterranean food in friendly, casual environment

By D_and_S_2013xx |

a group of us enjoyed lunch/brunch, both savory and sweet dishes. as I remember, they don't have a liquor license, so keep that in mind. the dishes were all excellent, and the service is very friendly and efficient. it's a homey, low-key environment. definitely hope to go back when we're in town. Mediterranean cuisine

Exceptional bistro/cafe....

When my son booked this for an after graduation brunch I was skeptical of a French/Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant but oh what a gem this place is!!! We were a group of 16 from 17 to 80 years old and EVERYONE raved about their entree (10 different ones by the receipt). The service staff was exceptionally attentive, the owner there to help out and make recommendations and described what was just all around great food. I have eaten out at least 20-30 times over the last few months and the Cafe La Maude rates 5 stars as exceptional, in fact, put it as the best place I have eaten in the last few years. The price was $15-20 per entree, BYOB and be prepared to be full when you are done. It is a small 'hole in the wall' place but if in Center City would be a 4-5 star restaurant. I will be back again and again and again to try everything on the menu.

Good food....great service...Perfect brunch place

By Hitesh N |

5.0 star rating 1/27/2017 1 check-in First of all this place is extremely crowded. Be prepared for long wait times. But what is unique about this place is the menu and service. Nice friendly staff and good food. Small Mediterranean-french cafe. Love the omelette options available. Coffee is good too and it just keeps coming. Portions are descent size (a little on the larger size) which is good for a big person like me. Overall, I recommend this place.

Great brunch. Efficient, pleasant service. Outstanding selection and food. Will return tomorrow morning- to try another menu item!

Brunch Win!

This place was absolutely delicious and had amazing portions. We went around 8AM on a Saturday attached to a 3-day weekend and had no problem getting seated or served. Any dish with the Lebanese sausage is delectable!

Excellent Food + Service

By piccola76 |

We drove up on a weekday morning from DC and were pleasantly surprised to find on-street, free parking. Since it was not a weekend, we had no wait and were promptly seated. Everything on the menu was very tempting, but since it was breakfast my husband opted for the brisket entree and me the Parisian Ta. We were not disappointed, the best breakfast we have had in a long time. Although there was no kids menu, they gladly served smaller portions of pancakes and waffles for the kids. Excellent food was enhnaced by excellent service (friendly, multiple people catering to you) and a charming atmosphere. We have added this as a "must-do" on our annual trip to Philadelphia. We can't wait to return.

This place had amazing food. Service was quick and timely? And food was delicious! This place is a must see. We got the sweet potatoes and eggs bennie, and the Persian eggs with croissant with ham and goat cheese. Heaven on earth!! It also came with a small salad and potatoes!

Great Food, Great Place, Great Service!

By Stefano |

My wife and instilled across this magical cafe and so glad that we did! The staff are really amazing an super friendly. They guided us well and pointed out the popular meals. The coffee is just as good. We had a cappuccino but from what I could see the filter coffee is bottomless. The good turned out to be a real treat and the portions were just so generous!!! We ate at around 9 and then we were so full that we are only at 3!!! It is worth a drive even if your across town!

One of best breakfast places in Philly!

By Irina B |

Great great breakfast and coffee place! Was here for brunch with the family, everyone loved their food. I had shakshuka, keep in mind that they call it something else, and it was tasty and fresh. The pastries and coffee are amazing as well. Can't wait to go back.

Most times, well worth the wait!

By Excursion36282 |

First, the food here is fabulous and creative! Never had a bad or even semi-bad meal. Second, the staff have been great. Calm, poised and attentive even when there is a long line waiting! Don’t know how they do it but, good on them. Third, either go at a time when things are slow or be prepared to wait. It is worth it unless you get really weird hangry.

Delicious and worth the wait. From the host to the servers everything was perfect. Walked away stuffed. This is a must when you are in Philly.

One of the Best Breakfasts I've Ever Had In My Life

By Mylonpruett |

Order: Gypsy Eggs, Praline Pancakes Price: $45 Pros: Unbelievable flavors, exceptionally varied menu, we had both a sweet and savory item and both were so good Cons: None, it’s hard to say anything is perfect but I really don’t know what I would say to change Thoughts: My wife really loves breakfast and we were really only going to have time for one sit down breakfast and we picked La Maude; this may have been the best decision of the trip. Everything on the menu looked amazing but thankfully the server helped us narrow it down the two options. I went with the Gypsy Eggs, a tomato sauce base with chunks of onion and tomato, slices of avocado, potato cubes, breaded eggplant sticks, two over-easy eggs and a few slices of pita. Dear lord, the ingredients themselves are so simple but it was amazing. All the ingredients work together to crate a fantastic taste. I was especially surprised as to how good the breaded, fried eggplant. The outside was crunchy and the inside was still surprising firm. Utterly perfect in its simplicity and deliciousness. My wife basically got desert. A stack of pancakes with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, strawberries, raspberries, white chocolate sauce and chocolate pralines between each pancake. Rich and decadent barely do it justice. It was one of the most over the top breakfasts I have ever had. I really think 4 people could have ordered it as a shared desert and been happy. Between the two of us we managed to polish them both off and were stuffed for hours. While it was more expensive than most breakfasts I've ever had it was worth every cent. I can not recommend this place enough and I see how it's considered Philly's best place for breakfast. If you are here, even for a day, and want a rich delicious breakfast, CafĂ© la Maude is your place.

Sunday morning delight

By waterguy555 |

We caught the red eye into Philadelphia last Sunday. Took a taxi into town and asked the driver to find our destination. It has just rained so the air was perfect and we were in for a treat. There were a couple of people hanging outside and said that we found the right place. It was about seven so there was no wait. Gabby was great. Helped us with the menu and his wife kept the latte's coming. The menu is fantastic. So many new items to choose from. The service impeccable. The portions huge. My daughter is moving to a town 50 miles away and the owners brother lives there as well. Of course he even offered up his brother transportation any time as well. We felt the sincere wishes of family here. We sat near the front and enjoyed the action at the coffee bar. There is outdoor seating as well as a dining room in the rear. He has held the bar high. I hope that it will always stay that way.

French twist of Lebanese food!

By Khadija T |

Great food and friendly/fast service. We tried the sandwich and salad menu, the fettoush salad was a little too sweet for our taste, but the sandwiches were great. We weren't in a brunch mood at the time, but we will definitely be returning to try out their breakfast/brunch menu, it's a wide selection and looks yummy from our glance of the neighboring tables.

Nice Sunday Brunch

By CARMEN A |

This is a nice French concept for Northern Liberties, by a Lebanese. Nice salads and omelettes. A bit too long the waiting for a no frills service. I would definitely go back on a less crowded day!

Transformational Experience

By ralphw447 |

We are not just talking about gastronomic wizards, which they are - this is a place with a whole lot of heart & soul. It is almost as if the whole staff is "whistling while they work." The owners, Gabi Richan (front of the house) and his sister Nathalie Richan (chef extraordinaire), are hardworking, caring and kind spirits and that energy permeates throughout the entire staff. Dare I say it? There is love in this food. The place is artfully decorated and the food is truly wonderful. The Gaufre Chicken Cordon Bleu wasn’t even on my radar but when the waitress recommended it as one of her favorites I just went with the flow and boy I am glad I did. The special was a stack of blueberry pancakes with Nutella instead of butter between the cakes and cannoli instead of whipped cream -simply to die for. OK so not the first place on the list if you are on a diet but if you are up for a wonderful, guilt free brunch with family & friends this is a top 10 attraction in Philly. Also the prices are reasonable and the portions are on the large side. Thanks Gabi & Nathalie.

We go every time we visit Philly!!!

By Zachary O |

This place is just awesome! I originally began going here three years ago and since that time I had relocated to Virginia. Every time we return to the area for business or social reasons we always make time to either come here for breakfast or a late brunch. If you are looking for a great atmosphere and friendly and really tasty food this is the place to go! My wife love this place because it reminds her of Paris! Check it out if you are in the area!!!!

Neat little place

Eggs Benedict to Die For

By Cutiepet2tie |

The coffee, the atmosphere, the service, the food. Everything was top notch. So thankful for this little gem of a place. I love Eggs Benedict more than any other brunch food and this one was out of this world. I got the Mozzarella, tomatoes, basil oil, and balsamic vinegar Mediterranean style. It was heaven in my mouth. Next time in Philly I will DEFINITELY be going back to this place.

AMAZING!!

By DP |

Had the best breakfast that I can recall in a while. I ordered the The N-Liberties and it blew my mind. Would highly recommend this super cute spot. No wait to get a table on a Saturday morning, which was surprising. Not sure how this gem is still a secret.

fabulous brunch

By Diver532 |

Our group tried six entrees. Very imaginative. appealing presentation. excellent food. wide variety of offerings. something for everyone.

Wonderful, carefully prepared, beautiful to the eye and mouth.

By David W |

How great is this place? Let me count the ways. Food above all is great. Complex but not insane. Large portions. Beautiful plates. Excellent and engaged staff. The N-Liberties is fantastic and they have a new entree, an entrecote to die for. No bar but they provide caraffes of OJ and have no corcage fee should you bring champagne. Great coffee. Tje host, Gabi, is as good as it gets. Major alert. No reservations.

Another Good Meal I HAD

By Shanese W |

I came here with my fiancĂ© and of course he found this place. The place is nice and cozy! The staff is very nice. The food is unmatched. I don’t eat meat so I had an egg white omelet with black beans and cauliflower. I also received a side salad and fruit to go with this meal. Which made it so impressive.i eat veggies and I eat fruit. So it was like they gave you everything. The apples were cut in to sticks so cute.

Shakshuka with a side of yelling

By EBNewk |

EXCELLENT food! We arrived around noon for brunch on a Sunday and were seated right away. Red Shakshuka and cordon bleu for us. Delicious! Staff was very pleasant to us and accommodating to customers. So why the 3 stars if we loved it so much? We were seated inside and were feeling very happy and excited about the new brunch spot we found. Since we were indoors, we were privy to observing the hustle and bustle of the cafe/bar area activity. The man in charge (manager? owner?), the man with blue eyes (everyone had masks on, so this was his only identifying feature) was VERY demeaning towards the staff. He was yelling at them to move faster and if they messed up. At one point he yelled "the F word" at the girl behind the counter (who was doing a great job at making lattes and working her butt off), and everyone in the place turned to see why a grown man would be yelling at a woman that way. NOBODY DESERVED TO BE CURSED AT AND BERATED!! .... even in the restaurant industry. Unfortunately, this man's verbal abuse towards the staff is part of our memory from our otherwise excellent experience. This is a popular, expensive, and highly rated restaurant. The people who prepare food and drinks for customers should not be enduring this type of behavior. To the barista: You were killing it!! Keep on rocking!

Best brunch I have ever had

By Buttons979 |

It is challenging to have a breakfast/brunch restaurant. But this place has the most innovative menu I have ever seen. I believe taken from her roots, the chef is Lebanese by background and was raised in France. the food is delicious with so many options and it is BYOB sooo that may lower some inhibitions and cause you to splurge on the chocolate chip cookie!

Amazing service and food

By Sydney B |

The food was not only some of the best brunch food I've ever had, but the employees and owners made my friends and I feel as if we were family friends visiting their home. The owner made sure we got seated quickly despite the wait, and he and his wife even sat down and chatted with us after. The food seriously stimulated hidden senses that I didnt know existed. I always tell people to visit this place whenever they're in Philly and I can't wait to go back! Sydney B

one of the best breakfasts I've ever had

By cchkmh |

Where to start - this place is amazing. From the time you step in you are greeted by the owner like you are family (it was our first time there after reading the great reviews). The menu is amazing and very unique. We had the Sweet Benny, the St. Liberty, and our young daughter had the pancakes with bananas and strawberries. Everything was so delicious, fresh and bursting with flavors. This is a true family run business and they have a passion for what they do. The owner and his son stop by everyone's table multiple times to say hi, make sure everything is good and give you recommendations if you can't make up your mind about what to get. Their menu is extensive and very unique. Everything sounds so good and looked good on the neighboring tables, as well. Great cappuccino and hot chocolate, as well.

Tuesday breakfast

By Michael D |

Great out of the way restaurant that serves a delicious breakfast and lunch. Great selection of varied dishes, from waffles to bene dishes, and hearty dishes. Large portions so be cautious to not over order. If we lived in the area would definitely be there weekly

I had fun there with my girlfriends. Very original and food was very tasty and cook well. Great service, the only thing thought the Seats were a bit too close

Splendid food and gracious service, but crowded and noisy

By Marie S |

I live in an area well known for Middle Eastern restaurants and grocers, and I can honestly say that the food at Cafe La Maude was much better than anything I've had in my neighborhood. The coffee was wonderful. The service is gracious and caring. The owners are very hospitable. Went for Sunday brunch on the day of an ice storm. We took a taxi from our downtown hotel. After brunch, repeated calls to the taxi company that brought us there got a busy signal. Mrs. Nathalie called another taxi company for us, and her husband went outside a few times to check whether our car had arrived. When he saw it, he helped my elderly aunt to the car so that she wouldn't slip on the ice. This was Sunday afternoon when they were ridiculously busy. The drawbacks of the place are that it's in an out of the way neighborhood, it gets very crowded and noisy and by the time we left we were both getting headaches from the cooking smells. It would be a lot better to go when the weather is nice and they can leave a door or window open. They do not accept reservations, so if you go for a weekend brunch you'll have to wait. In our case, it was only 10 or 15 minutes, but that was partially the bad weather-otherwise it might have been 30 or 40. The next time I'm in Philly, I will gladly go back but only on a weekday.

Amazing eats!!

By wanderlust_paradise |

Been there countless of times and never ceases to amaze me. Absolutely love the food there!! The owner is very sociable and the waiter/waitress are knowledgeable and nice. Recommend the brisket, absolutely delicious!!

Beauty in Breakfast

By DCFitShrink |

The corner table seems to be where we end up each time we visit our favorite breakfast spot north of spring garden. The coffee is excellent and the food is interesting and refreshing. The service is even better. Can't say enough about this place. Great way to start the morning.

Outstanding Breakfast

By Bill A |

I often wonder why most restaurants who serve breakfast even need to print a menu. Most offer similar selections of pancakes, waffles and eggs prepared in the standard combinations. At Cafe La Maude, a menu is truly needed because they offer an inventive selection of breakfast specials. And, these breakfast specials contain a broad array of vegetables, sauces and bread that are not often found on a breakfast menu. But, most of all, the food is delicious. The prices are a little high relative to standard breakfast dishes. But, given the quality and quantity of food provided, I think the prices are reasonable. I can't wait to go back !

Fantastic!

By Robert N |

Great spot but there will be a line so be ready to wait unless you get lucky and seat upon arrival. It is well worth the wait the food is fantastic as well as the service. The Chai Latte is one of the best I have ever had.

Happy to have found this gem

By cenadog |

What a lovely throwback to the fifties/sixties. Although busy , we were pleasantly greeted and seated in the rear room. The menu was interesting and described as French/Lebanese, We ordered a take on eggs Benedict and an omelette both were excellent and wait staff attentive and openly expressed their admiration of the restaurant. The neighborhood is pleasant and parking on a weekday was no problem.

Drool.....

By Jawad S |

Just thinking about this restaurant is making me drool. The food is authentic and ethnic, but with a great twist to it. I've had virtually everything on the menu and my biggest regret in life is figuring out the one thing to order. While you might wait for a short period for a table, it is always worth it no matter how long that wait is. From one Syrian to another, totally worth it!!

Euro flare meets Philly love

By Harvey3069 |

I had been thinking of eating here for a while, but the opportunity just recently arrived. Most of us like big carb loaded cholesterol rich breakfast followed by a long nap, sometimes not the best choice wits a day full of activities planned. The breakfast here was the perfect choice light and refreshing and most importantly filling. The Parisian Za was clean and bright with a burst of big flavor in every bite. My only complaint is that my scrambled eggs could have been a little fluffier. This is the meal I would have enjoyed more if I could have dined outside but weather didn't cooperate. Great staff and attentive owner without being over bearing can't wait to return.

Sundays

By Rob E |

I eat breakfast here every Sunday. This gem serves up Middle Easter-Mediterranean-French-Mexican fusion menu. Every dish is fresh and made to order. I love the Mediterranean platter as well as N Liberties. The fish tacos are the best I've had anywhere. The owners, Gaby and Nathalie will welcome you and treat you like family. If you are in Philly visiting, make sure you include breakfast or lunch here in your plans. You won't be disappointed.

Good, but Very Pricey

By Mark C |

The food was good, it was not exceptional, and on it's own, it would get 4 out of 5. We went for brunch, and left full and content with the meal. Where the this falls down was the price, over $40 for 2 of us, and the atmosphere. There were several gentlemen sitting next to us who were regulars, as the manager (owner?) spent a good deal of time talking with them. They were rather loud and it was tough to make conversation between ourselves, so we really didn't. It's hard to ask people who clearly enjoy the restaurant and feel comfortable there to quiet down a bit, so we ate our food and left. All in all, the food is good, but the entire experience does not merit a return trip.

Great Brunch!

By Jay P |

My family loves CafĂ© La Maude and, with good reason. Friendly, comfortable, interesting menu, what more do you want? We went for lunch last week and it was great, as always. If you like hot chocolate, start with a mug – OUTSTANDING! My daughter ordered the Open-face, Mediterranean Breakfast Burrito (vegetarian), my wife the Parisian Za’, and I the Gaufre Chicken Cordon Bleu. I recommend all three!

Best gourmet brunch in Philly

By valerioblur |

Everything in the menu is just amazing and delicious! I found out about this jem of a restaurant when I lived in Northen Liberties years ago and go there since then, every time I desire the perfect brunch! My favs are Parisan Za and Eggs Benedict...but really anything you order is gonna be so freaking delicious! You might have to wait in line if you go in the weekends during brunch hours, but the owner is constantly directing his team with skills and organization and makes the line flow really fast! I just hope they hopen another restaurant in South Philly (where I live now) but without loosing their quality!

Good? Yes. Great? Well...

By Wayne-Librarian |

While the green tomato shaksuka was creative and very good, the other two plates we three had were nothing special: not bad, but a number one rating promised more. The only real quibble I have is with an apparent policy of management to ‘turn tables over.’ That is, while the service we received was excellent, as we finished our meal, plates were whisked away in a manner that suggested the rest of us should hurry along. Then, two tables down, two diners sitting with their water glasses for a moment after finishing were asked to leave as they wanted to seat other people. This rush to move you through was reinforced when I asked about dessert and was told that I could look at the what they had up by the front door, implying that we should take it with us! Booo hiss! Respect your customers a bit more, management.

One of a kind breakfast.

By Roam Free |

One of the best places in Philly for breakfast or brunch. Also like many places it’s BYOB. Very popular so be ready to wait 30+ minutes for a table on the weekends. Well worth the wait and also has a quick turnaround with not many people drinking. If your looking for a big delicious breakfast you will not be disappointed.

Amazing Amazing ... say it again with me

By Pnut Travel Guidebook |

If you are visiting to this city... make sure you visit here. It has a wait but it's not terrible and is worth the wait! The choices are diverse for breakfast and breakfast is served all day! Make this a must eat and see ... you will NOT be disappointed. Coffee and Hot Chocolate are crazy pieces of art and even better to drink!

The BEST BRUNCH in PHILLY

Absolutely delicious food and Gabby the owner, is the friendliest bloke your meet. Him and his staff are so hospitable and I could think of a place in Philadelphia I’d rather eat brunch.

What A Lucky Find!

By Ventura Hwy |

Did we ever feel fortunate to come across Cafe La Maude. The food is tasty, the atmosphere wonderfully cozy, and - best of all - the owner and staff really care about customers. We visited, pretty much by accident, on a Sunday morning around 9 a.m. Lucky us, because Cafe La Maude is a popular neighborhood spot which fills up fast. We enjoyed coffee, the Croque Madame, and the Berrylicious Pain Perdu (with mascarpone, although Nutella is an option). It was a challenge to only order two items, because the entire French-Lebanese menu looked tempting. The presentation was beautiful as you can see from the photo. The food details were amazing. For example, each slice of banana was topped with creme brulee. So, each banana bite had delicious crunch, flavor, and texture. After eating at Cafe La Maude we looked at their website. We sat inside, at the window table which you can see on their website. The windows open, so we had the best of sidewalk fresh air while sheltered inside. The owner himself was at the restaurant. We chatted with him and he gave us a slice of baklava. We were so full, we wouldn't have tried it otherwise - but are so glad we did. The Cafe La Maude baklava is the best we've had so far. One note: the entrees are on the expensive side. The Croque Madame was $15 and the Pain Perdu was $15.50. They're not "overpriced" because the food is delicious, service great, and the whole experience is excellent. But, unless you know the food is going to be amazing, prices in this range can be a surprise. We had no idea that Cafe La Maude existed. Now we know where to go when we're back in Philadelphia.

Very clean and well balanced meal!

By Jeff C |

Another small place that's constantly moving. And rightfully so! The cuisine for Saturday brunch dipped in and out of both traditional Americana and Lebanese. The food came out relatively quickly, the tables were spaced jjjjust far enough apart, although borderline tight quarters, and the wait staff was good at what they do. The food was very professionally assembled and looked just as nourishing as it tasted. These guys do brunch every day starting 6am, no excuse not to fit it in! Wake up early, eat Cafe la Maude, go crash for another few hours and then wake up to a late breakfast somewhere else! You're on vacation (maybe), don't cheap out on food!

Cafe La Maude

By FouLou M |

Excellent menu, service & food. We went for brunch and couldn't be more satisfied. I had Calabrese Benedict served with a whole wheat English muffin, tomato, avocado, hollandaise, the best tasting bacon, small salad, fruit salad and zataar potatoes. I am anxious to go again.

Very good food and service

Like a lot of fusion places, the food was excellent and interesting. Would definitely go again. Very nice outside seating. Got the chicken and waffles. Yum,

Green Shakshuka

By nic_leon2005 |

My wife and I recently enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at Café La Maude. I started with a delicious Cappuccino that had a nice coffee flavor and the right amount of foam. To eat I had the Green Shakshuka which was a delicious marriage of flavors. A rich and spiced green tomato sauce covered sautéed onions and peppers, fresh kale and spinach, savory sweet potatoes, tender roasted cauliflower, yolky over easy eggs, crunchy chopped almonds, and sharp breaded feta cheese. Café La Maude is now one of my favorite breakfast spots and a must visit.

Best breakfast experience yet.

By Harooni family |

When I saw this restaurant from the outside I knew it was going to be good. the presentation overall compared to the other restaurants around was much better. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and I felt very welcome I ordered some amazing food and it did not take long at all. It tasted absolutely amazing and it was one of the best breakfast experiences I had ever had. The customer service was very good and if you are in a rush they will take your order all at once instead of beverages than food. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great Sunday brunch

Great service. Great food. We came on a Sunday at 8am and it was already crowded outside so we dined inside. It was a Mediterranean cruise- different but good.

Meat eaters & Vegetarians Unite!

By xtine27 |

We choose Cafe La Maude because of its reviews and were NOT disappointed. We are just in town for the weekend and were taken back by the warmth and hospitality of Cafe La Maude's owners. They're the real deal. It was clear that regular customers (of which their are plenty) keep coming back for those welcomes and great flavors (we would too if we lived here!). For those in marketing, this is what we call "value proposition." Excellent espresso drinks AND brewed coffee. Portions are extremely generous. Pictures couldn't possibly do the flavors of the dishes justice. Brunch done right.

The food was room temperature -- there's more to breakfast than the cooking

By mr b |

If my scrambled eggs and bacon had arrived hot, or even warm, and if the prices were not so high, I'd give the place four stars. The food was well made, the bacon crisp, the eggs perfectly made, but they were not even tepid. Both were room temperature. Normally I'd have sent them back but I was with someone who would have thought I was making a scene. Visual presentation was good. A glass of orange juice (fresh) cost $4.75; two eggs and bacon, $9. Scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes, $14. At those prices, for breakfast, execution should be good across the board, including the service. Ambience and presentation only go so far.

French Favorite!

Cafe La Maude is a unique place! I had the Croque Maude which was simply delicious. It is French ham, bacon and a cheese blend served on grilled pain de mie with Mornay & avocado sauces, sunny side up egg and side of fries & crudite. Beautifully done and great service too. Overall, it is a must for all.

The BEST brunch in Philadelphia!

By Mareah M |

We came on a busy Saturday but, we were seated in a timely matter. All the staff were knowledgeable and kind. They were so busy but the drinks and coffee came quickly. They were very accommodating with my picky child and our lovely waitress talked with me about finding things he would eat. And he absolutely LOVED it! The food was AMAZING! The pancakes were so good and the omelets were filling and delicious. The next time we are in town, we will be back for sure!!

Perfect birthday brunch!

By eacusick |

Last minute pick and we did not regret it one bit. Even during COVID-19 everything ran smoothly. Food was great, service was even better. We arrive at 3:15 and they close at 4 yet we did not feel rushed. We even considered taking the cake we brought back home thinking we had to leave but the staff kindly brought us utensils to enjoy the cake. Many of them coming up to wish the birthday girl a happy birthday. How did I miss this gem? Certainly coming back again soon!

Unique tasty brunch but not inexpensive and not relaxing atmosphere

By AvgJoe3 |

Unique brunch that is very tasty. Brisket huevos rancheros was very good. Kafta sandwich was delicious. Other dishes very good too. They are not inexpensive. In the $18-19 range for most items. No reservations so be prepared to wait. Fast delivery of food and good service. They do try to kick you out quick once your done. I understand the overall need but we were just waiting for my daughter who went to the restroom. They took our full waters and were hovering to encourage us to leave. Once she finished we left. Did not like that rush. Not relaxing. Whole meal from order to leaving took about 1/2 hour. With cost and the rush, don’t think I will go back.

So good!!! I have been here quite a few times. The berrylicious French toast is my favorite. Very cute inside makes you feel like you are on vacation. Food is delicious and flavorful. They care for each dish and have very unique ingredients and combinations. The last time I went it was pouring outside and the owner ran out and gave us an umbrella. Really a great welcoming delicious place!

Sunday Brunch Winner

By curlygal636 |

As an avid bruncher, I think I've found my new favorite go-to spot. After reading the menu online I knew I just had to get my hands on some of those pancakes! I was initially nervous as many reviews mentioned a long wait time, but that wasn't an issue. We (a table of 2) arrived around 11am expecting to wait at least an hour. We were greeted instantly by a very funny and vibrant gentleman (who might either be the owner or manager). He said the wait was 30-45 minutes and we can browse the plant shop next door-he'll come get us when our table is ready. In actuality it took only 10 minutes to get a table and we were delighted. The atmosphere was intimate and reminded me of a quaint euro cafe. The noise level was tolerable and the staff attentive. The food was deliciously decadent. My brunch partner isn't usually a big eater but he ate everything and so did I! He ordered the Quatre Fromage omelette and I the Berrylicious Pain Perdu. The ingredients were fresh and the dishes artfully arranged. I savored each bite and simply cannot wait to return so I can try every item on the menu! My only gripes: I believe there is only one restroom. We sat in the back area and there was a consistent line of people waiting. I didn't have to use the bathroom but I might be a little annoyed to wait ten minutes to do so. Also, the prices on the menu found online are outdated as certain items were more expensive than listed online. This didn't deter me much, as I was definitely looking to treat myself and I wholeheartedly believe my pancakes were worth the almost $20 pricetag. Lastly, if you plan to come here with a group larger than say six, it might be tricky. While turnover is fast, the space is intimate.

BEST CAFE IN PHILADELPHIA

This is one of my favorite spots in Philly.Excellent sandwiches, omelettes ,Salads and more,Very creative.Mix of middle eastern, spanish ,mexican and American.I love the La Maison Salad with chicken luscious greens feta etc.The owners are the most warm knowledgeable and friendly people you will ever meet.Don't miss the Baklava pastry with one of their excellent coffee drinks.

Amazing....not very French but still amazing

Was looking for a breakfast and found this gem. Even though the name, sort of implies that its a French bistro, the food was actually a mix of french and Mediterranean cuisine. Very well executed, fresh and served quite fast. The service was great and even the coffee was good (hard to find in Philly). The location is perfect to who ever lives in Northern Liberties , otherwise you need to take a cab here, as there is no parking. Can't wait to be back - its a new favorite.

Must visit

Our daughter has raved about this establishment. You know most places hardly live up to expectations. Cafe La Maude was even better. I can't thank her enough for the recommendation and escorting us to this restaurant. I can only say everything was great and I tried everyone's dishes. The French toast with Nutella and fruit was the best dessert possible. But it was a brunch item. The brisket platter on pita had so Many flavored I was ecstatic. And my daughters hummus platter with yogurt, cheeses and veggies was special. And the service is equal to the food. Fabulous Philly!

Cafe La Maude combines all the elements needed for a great brunch spot ( except that it is BYOB. So remember to bring the champagne, vodka etc.) The food, ambience and service stand out from the rest of the brunch crowd. My group ordered the Parisian Za, Saumon Fume a cheval, and the open faced burrito (TBH we had a couple picky eaters who ordered boring crap.) Every one of them exceeded our high expectations. The portion sizes were good. The restaurant has a classic city brunch feel to it. The room up front felt more open than the back room. However, the back room has plenty of charm. Although the setting and food were enough for me to make CLM a must go on my return to Philly, it was the staff that blew me a way. Our waitress Kristin managed to juggle her full area with such efficiency and charm that you would have thought ours was the only table in the restaurant. She was a big help in deciding what to order. Gabi, who runs the place, knows all the regulars and has a friendly word for all of them. But he also made our group of first-timers feel like regulars. His warmth and desire to make all of his guests feel at home shine through. Every cafe owner/manager should watch him work the room. So, here's the thing, stop reading and head on over. Everyone you hang with will be indebted to you!

Best brunch food in the city

Have lived in philly for 15 years and was recently recommended this spot and am I glad I found it. I'm not sure I will eat breakfast or brunch anywhere else. There is so much variety and so many interesting favors. I can't wait to try everything.

Awesome breakfast spot

Had a family breakfast here, service was good, food was great, big portions, would go again. Hit a slow period, not sure what the normal wait time is but we had no problem getting a table.

Great salads and attentive staff

By LotsaTraveling |

We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and it was just as described. It’s small and cozy in an older part of town so parking a bit tough. But the food makes up for any inconvenience. We each had a different type of salad and everyone raved about how tasty theirs was. (When do people say about a salad “This is amazing! Do you want to try a bite?) Service was also outstanding: pleasant and attentive. We definitely would recommend Cafe La Maude highly!

Good brunch foods, but hectic.

Three of us went for Sunday brunch. The food was good, but it was very hectic and loud. Surprisingly, the brunch prices are higher than for lunch. I think our next stop will be for lunch in mid-week to try the lunch food in a quieter setting. Staff was friendly. We will be back.

Scrumptious food and great service.

We had a little wait for brunch on a Saturday but the maitre'd was very efficient and pleasant. Once seated, we were attended immediately and food came out quickly. I had the green shakshouka and devoured it. I would order it again. Other members of our party were equally pleased with the Mediterranean burrito and the gauffre chicken.

Breakfast all day - enjoyed!!!

By Janette M |

Fantastic breakfast - we had the sweet potato Benny. The flavors were eloquently orchestrated. Not only was the food enjoyable but the atmosphere. My husband and I sat outside to enjoy Philadelphia. Many of the local residents and owner were enjoying the morning and chatting with us about the wonderful neighborhood.

Egg whites still clear?

By blackcattitude |

I really wanted to like this place, but it just didn't work out for me. I like modern brunch spots, but I also like to be able to hear myself think. This cafe has absolutely no sound proofing. It's in an old bulding with very low ceilings, metallic furnishings, and few windows. It feels and sounds like a cave. It is dark and very noisy, so much so that my husband had to stop talking mid-sentence because I couldn't hear a word of what he was saying over the table next to us. Coffee was good, but no almond milk for creamer? Isn't this Philly? I had the sweet potato benedict without the sausage. I enjoyed the addition of the mangoes, but there were only a couple small squares of it on my plate. I am a HUGE benedict fan - it's hard to mess one up in my eyes. However, about halfway through the meal I ran into clear egg whites, which really sullied my appetite. Overall, I was disappointed and wouldn't come here again, but I give a 3 because I'm sure my uncooked egg whites were a freak occurrence, and the meal would've been good without it. Still, this is not my kind of scene and I'll leave it to the college kids next time.

Sophisticated Brunch with French Flair

By Kelly D |

I insisted we eat brunch at Cafe La Maude before we flew out of Philly - it was worth it! Delicious, unique dishes. They also had a yummy selection of French small sweets (macaroons, tarts, etc.) we took for the road. Very friendly staff as well. The parking can be difficult due to the location (all parallel from what I could tell), and apparently it's a popular spot so plan well in advance before visiting. We went during a slower part of the day so we didn't struggle too much.
