A local neighborhood find

By Jim B |

Café Lapin is one of the those pleasant surprises. It is easy to overlook as a small storefront in a neighborhood shopping area (Peachtree Battle). We wandered in one Sunday morning for breakfast when the restaurant a few doors down had a long wait. The restaurant is small, but very comfortable, with very attentive servers. The name is French and so is much of the menu, but there is plenty to choose from. The food was really outstanding. We both ordered omelets - I highly recommend upgrading the toast for a croissant. Since then we have been back several times for breakfast as well as once for lunch when they have a number of daily specials. Café Lapin has yet disappoint us and prices are reasonable too.

Service - NOT

By SEAFARER404 |

Recent visit to Cafe Lapin in Atlanta Buckhead area, three couples, evening dinner. Very few tables occupied. One server from what we observed, and one bus person. Service was practically nonexistent; surprisingly slow, and rather unenthusiastic. Fortunately all enjoyed dinner, entrees were fresh and hot; however side items were barely warm. Desserts primo; delicious. Will probably not be returning. Disappointing....

Casual dining at its best

Bad experience

By Charlene C |

All aspects of our experience were below average. For five people, the host sat us at two small tables pushed together. Kept us very distanced. No menus were provided even when after a time, we asked for them. No silverware was provided by him and he refused to acknowledge us. All of the food was inferior, although two in our party were local and had highly recommended the establishment. The female waitress was as attentive as she could be given the fact that they were short-staffed. We will never return.

Incredibly Rude Owner

By Tom D |

My wife left a pair of nice sunglasses at the restaurant the other day, immediately called back and spoke to her server. Her server (very nice) said she had them, took my wife’s name, and said she’d put the glasses in a safe place for her. When we returned, no glasses. Just a free for all lost and found basket. Staff seemed sincerely apologetic. The owner could not have copped a bigger attitude with me when his staff member offered for us to talk. “So tell me about your “expensive” (yes, with air quotes) sunglasses. Claimed his server must have “misspoke” minutes after one of his team spoke to her again by phone. “We don’t have your glasses. I don’t know what you want me to do.” Loved the fake Parisian attitude. Won’t be dining there again despite living a mile away and many past visits.

Nice lunch

Great Bloody Mary's, Jalapeno Chicken Salad was good as were the tomatoes and mozzarella. Others enjoyed a variety of sandwiches, shrimp salad, and paninis. We all split a delicious slice of Coconut cake.

A carrot cake to remember

By Daniel B |

We had been here once before for breakfast, around September 2022, and I thought it was a little too pink in décor. My girlfriend liked it just fine. The food was good, coffee was hot, they had creamer options. I kept looking at the cakes and how many people were rolling in there and picking up entire cakes while we were eating; I must have seen about 6 women do this in an hour. I told myself that when it got closer to a time when I needed a cake, I would try it out. In December 2022, my girlfriend and I picked up a cake for Xmas, New Year’s, and her birthday (all within a 2-week period). We got carrot cake, and the cake was beyond amazing. When we picked it up, we took it home and cut it into quarters. That night we ate the first quarter and froze the rest and I swear every piece we unfroze and shared was as good as the night we got it. We have never had a better carrot cake than this one. Whether homemade, storebought, restaurant dessert, or from a fancy bakery, I’ve never found one better. Worth every penny!

Great place for lunch!

By scooter |

Menu selection very good for lunch. Wonderful deserts, if you are into sweets. I have visited the restaurant several times and have had a good experience each time.

Great food, service was just ok.

By Donald N |

Went for lunch with a colleague. Food was delicious. Soup and half sandwich. Manhattan clam chowder and ham and cheese panini. All good, cooked well and served nicely. Wait staff needs training. Our waiter did not know the difference between New England and Manhattan clam chowder and never returned when asked for napkins. Second waitperson came twice if my colleague was done with his plate when he was obviously still eating.

Quiet evening, good food

By Victoria H |

A friend and I dined there this past Wednesday. We went for dinner, and wanted a place where the food is good and you are not rushed to finish and leave. La Pipin is the place we chose. The young man who waited on us was Personable, Professional, and Polite (my 3 P's for success). We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and our time together. The House Pino Grigio is excellent! She had Escargot and the quiche of the day. I had crab cakes with sautéed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. The food was excellent and was served in a timely manner. After dinner, we each chose one of their cookies for desert. She had lemon, and I had chocolate chip. Mine was yummy! Great, quiet place to dine and visit.

My favorite place for lunch in Atlanta

By CindyH515 |

I have eaten at Cafe Lapin twice for lunch and it was SUPERB both times. The quiches are to die for, the gourmet salads are fresh and tasty, the soup is incredible, and the desserts are good to the very last crumb. I was thoroughly impressed with the lunch menu and totally pleased with my meal selections (as was my lunch date). In addition to the regular written menu, they have daily specials written out on a chalk board. Our lunch selections (quiche, salad, soup and dessert) were all excellent. The place was packed both times I was there for lunch. I give lunch at Cafe Lapin a 10 out of 10 stars. We went back one evening for dinner and I was sadly not as impressed as I was with the lunches. The dinner menu offered a variety of items and there was a small list of "specials" on the chalk board. I had the salmon. It was okay. I gave it a 6 out of 10 stars. The ambiance was nice and the service was excellent. I should have had a clue that maybe the dinners weren't as "to die for" as the lunches when I saw that there were only 4 tables with patrons seated at them. I am willing to go back and try dinner again just because the lunches were so delicious and memorable. But I am definitely going to go back to Cafe Lapin the next time I am in Atlanta at lunch time.

Best takeouts to keep at home.

By Carlyledeux |

Cafe Lapin has 4 to 6 selection of the best chicken salads to go that you can imagine. Can hardly choose a favorite between tarragon or walnuts. Always keep several in refrigerator.

OK food, decent service; no real raves

By VirginiaGeorgia |

Saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try as I was in the strip mall for some other stores. Café Lapin is sparely furnished, almost Spartan. My waiter was polite but not especially attentive; in fact, I had to get another wait person to bring my check. I had a curry chicken salad sandwich; not a particularly imaginative taste or presentation. The carrot/raisin salad was excellent! They do not have lemonade so there went my order for an Arnold Palmer. To be fair, I was there at about 2 pm on a weekday; perhaps another time would have been a different story.

Pleasantly surprised

By danrmj |

Went there a few weeks ago for lunch and my first reaction was that it looked like a nice place for "ladies doing lunch"....I was the only male on the premises, staff excepted. Not that that's a bad thing but the menus in places of that ilk usually leave me wanting. Lots of salads and quiches on this menu so my choices were limited but the chicken salad I ordered was great and the desserts were top-shelf. I don't recall what the ladies who I accompanied ordered but I do recall they were well satisfied. I visit Atlanta several times a year and won't hesitate to return to Cafe Lapin.

Interesting but...

By Chlorinated |

I love trying places new to me and took a chance recently on a rainy Saturday mid-afternoon. There was only one other table occupied. A very handsome and polite waiter took care of me and did a great job. (I regret I forgot his name!) I always tell wait staff that I drink a lot of iced tea. He was constantly refilling my glass. I ordered the shrimp salad and enjoyed it. The chef uses large, tasty shrimp, not the pitiful salad shrimp often used elsewhere. My only regret was that there wasn’t more! The cafe offers delicious-looking desserts but, as usual with most places, nothing sugar-free. I’m not in South Buckhead/Peachtree Battle areas often. I would, however, make a return visit!

Very disappointing

By Leslie B |

This place is always slammed on Sundays for lunch. Today was no exception. There must have been no communication in this restaurant today because the service was incredibly slow. I’ve eaten here - most of the time for Sunday lunch - many times over the past 5 years. If I had not been with friends today, I would have left. If you have to wait for a table, don’t even try to go inside: there is nowhere to stand and wait. We had three different wait staff walk by us and tell us “someone will be with you in just a minute.” 15 minutes later, we were finally seated. The food here is very good, but way overpriced. The Chicken Salad is delicious and is served in quite a few different varieties. Today I asked for a sandwich on a croissant and was told they were out of croissants. As we were finishing our lunch, I saw another diner being served a brunch plate with a croissant! I didn’t want to embarrass anybody at my table by asking the waiter where the hell that croissant came from, so I let it go. My bill came to $21.95 for a sandwich with a small side salad (extra charge), a soda, and a piece of cake. Buckhead pricing.

Feasting with Bunnies

By CrackerJacker |

On a Sunday morning, sometimes all you want is a great chicken salad sandwich and some cake, from Cafe Lapin. Or maybe you want a great omelet with hash browns. Feasting with pottery bunnies of all sorts, you can’t help but feel good. If you want an amazing breakfast and don't feel like the Waffle House, Cafe Lapin is the place for you.

Okay for the price.

By danrmj |

Menu is a mix of salads and sandwiches with daily specials. I had a ham & cheese panini which was ok, nothing special about it. My wife had a combo plate of 3 salads which she liked very much. Maybe that’s what I should’ve tried😊. It’s small and sparsely decorated; I assume they’re going for a French cafe look. Paper table cloths... but no crayons☹️and the silver comes rolled in paper napkins. Aesthetically, they need to do something with the floor. It’s bare concrete and needs painting...or something. Beer and wine are available and if you’re looking for a quick bite when you’re in the neighborhood, go for it. Maybe that’s who they’re looking to attract.

Delightful French Cafe

By MacAtlantaGa_ |

Very comfortable and casual cafe with a range of wonderful French inspired menu. We had a delightful Sunday Brunch and enjoyed the ham & cheese and mushroom omelets. They have 5 daily specials and an amazing range deserts. Don’t miss the coconut cake!

Delightful Cozy setting-Delicious Food

By Couquette1 |

Had dinner here recently with a large group.Ordered the Salmon which was the best I've had anywhere ever. All the others in our group raved about their meal also..Can't say enough about this cozy neighborhood restaurant.Feels like one of those out-of-the way places in Paris. Highly recommend!

Excellent, fresh, creative

By Nick H |

Stumbled upon this little gem on the way to another restaurant, but seeing the menu forced a visit. I had the lobster salad roll, and my girlfriend had the quiche lorraine. The rabbit decor is a little unique, but so is the restaurant! Definitely planning to come back soon.

Great neighborhood restaurant!

By katatl77 |

The best cakes and cookies in the city! I will never purchase another cake from the local bakery chain as the quality of these cakes cannot be beat. Delicious lunch and great dinner specials. Service can be a little slow when it is busy, but it is worth it.

Afternoon tea at Peachtree Battle

By SusanAtlanta |

I gave afternoon tea here at Cafe Lapin a 4 because it was good value for the small price we paid. It’s not very fancy like afternoon teas in hotels or cute tearooms. But it only cost $18 and turned out to be well worth the money. My first impression was a sinking feeling because - instead of little bowls of jam, butter, clotted cream and lemon curd - they put out fast-food style packages of honey, butter and preserves on a dish. Secondly, they didn’t bring us each a pot of tea but a pot of hot water. We made our own tea from our choice of tea bags. When it comes to afternoon tea, my expectations are higher than this. I thought it could only go downhill from there. But I was wrong! We were served our sweets and savories from a pretty, three-tiered stand, and I was delighted with the food which completely turned my mood around. There was an abundance of tea sandwiches plus yummy cranberry scones, banana bread and some kind of cranberry shortbread cookie. Quite nice and not just one each! The sandwich bread was a bit dry, but this is a common problem at afternoon teas when things are made in advance. Topping it off were French macarons, tiny fruit tarts and a couple other pastries. There was so much food, we didn’t eat it all. Our waiter was very attentive and we ended up staying 3 hours! Would I go back? Absolutely! Merci, Café Lapin!

Good but not great.

By BEandRB_on_Holiday |

We went to Café Lapin to give them a try...it is listed as a French Bistro. The place is in a strip mall and there is plenty of parking. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a very spartan way...very little except a small painting or two reminds you that is supposed to be a French Bistro...ambience is not great. Bad first impression: They have "Meat Loaf" on the menu. Sorry, but I have a hard time thinking "French" when I think "meat loaf"...your comments are welcome. We ordered Crab Cakes and a Caesar Salad for appetizers. No complaints about the salad, it was a good Caesar. The Crab Cakes were good but not exceptional (please note that I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay, so I am harsh critic). The restaurant was not very busy the night we went, yet it took much longer than expected before our food was served...and then it was served barely warm. The presentation of the dishes was quite nice (see pictures), the taste of the dishes was not as nice as their appearance. The Chicken Scallopini was good but again not exceptional. It was served with risotto and asparagus...yes, barely warm. The Pork Tenderloin was very tender without falling apart and had good flavor. Sadly, it and the accompanying vegetables were cold. The Rosé Rousseau went well with the Chicken and a Sauvignon Blanc (both by the glass) went well with the Pork. We found the wine list to be effective. The desserts are on display in a glass case by the kitchen and the cakes look impressive. Several flavors of cake were available and we both had a piece. We noticed something interesting...both of our cakes were the same cake and only the frosting changed. So...our thoughts. The Café has potential that has yet to be reached and they have to start by serving the food at a hotter temperature. Also, a little more creativity could be shown in the dessert cakes. We DO hope that they had a bad day and that things are usually better, but for us, we were not impressed and would rather explore other dinner options than return.

Great little bistro in Buckhead

By Jim M |

A great little bistro in the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center. Great salads, sandwiches and entrees. We did not try the desserts but they good. The wait staff was wonderful and there is some outdoor seating. We will be back.

Service was terrible, lost our reservation. Never apologized. Were there 20 minutes before anyone asked for our order Never refilled our drinks. Will not go back.

Quaint cafe

By tmboc |

This cafe is nestled into a strip mall with beautiful Easter decorations that beckoned from the parking lot. It's a small quaint restaurant so not too noisy with delectable sandwiches, soups, and salads. I had the 1/2 Sandwhich, 1/2 soup. The artichoke soup which I expected to come as a purée but was more like a homemade vegetable soup so much healthier and the grilled veggie panini was on a wonderful crunchy roll which was every bit as delicious as what was in the sandwich. They had delectable desserts which I didn't try but was very tempting.

Disappointed worse club sandwich ever

By hootieiii |

Stopped here for lunch today and ordered a club Sandwich. It was served with bread with holes hard to eat, frizzy lettuce just falls out while you’re trying to eat and sealed plastic containers of mayonnaise and mustard ( horrible way to serve)! Mediocre!!

Good food, poor service...

By Happy130 |

What turned out to be a nice lunch, went from good to bad quickly. We got seated at a table immediately as we beat the lunch crowd. Ordered our food, had to flag our server down for water refills... enjoyed our lunch, then waited and waited and waited. Our server apparently was tag teaming with another server and between the two of them, it took 22 minutes for us to get our bill. Then the owner (I presume) came over by our table and stood and instead of asking how everything was just looked at our table. Then my friend said hello, he nodded and walked off. We have always enjoyed Café Lapin, but we will not be back.

Extensive lunch selection

By MsJoAtlanta |

large crowd for lunch but service very good. Four delicious soups and several salads and special sandwiches on daily menu board. Cup of artichoke soup and half turkey Apple Brie on crusty baguette was excellent . Various sized linen covered tables pleasant change from routine decor of lunchtime venues. Good place to spend time talking with friends over lunch.

One step forward...but maybe one or two steps back.

By JennATL |

They finally received a liquor license! Actually, not sure this is a + or -. When it was BYOB, the $ may have been better and a larger selection at the great bottle shop down the strip mall. Having a liquor license is more convenient, though. The menu has changed, a lot! Burgers? We had lunch here recently and were disappointed how non-French this little cafe become. Maybe the current selections are more popular? But now lacks the same charm and appeal. The service seemed to have dropped dramatically, as well. The prices, on the other hand, seem to have risen. The quality of the food was still good, though. They seemed to have rearranged the tables and sprung for some new table cloths, etc. Unfortunately, we chose a table underneath the air vent, which was leaking condensation...good thing I wasn't wearing silk! Where did all the lapins go? I believe they are losing their niche...on their way to becoming just another strip mall stop.

Wonderful food

Love their shrimp salad, walnut chicken salad, and jalepeno chicken salads. Their desserts are divine, particularly the carrot cake!!! The absolute best I have ever eaten.

Great Food / Great Service

By Pablo G |

Another well run family restaurant in the heart of Atlanta at the Peachtree Battle shopping area. White linen, flowers and a limited menu with great food in as might be served at a family restaurant in the country side in France.

A Gem tucked away in the heart of Atlanta, GA

By ntune |

This little cafe is WONDERFUL! All kinds of freshly made chicken salads with different ingredients to choose from, green salads, sandwiches and freshly made pizzas, plus a couple of soup du jour to choose among. THEN there are the desserts! Made in their kitchen by their talented crew. A great place to meet and share food with friends while having a long conversation. It's busy, but rather quiet and so, so charming. Hope to go again soon.

A Pleasant Place

By 1073BB |

I have eaten here several times with “girlfriends” for a catch-up as it’s equidistant from our homes. I really enjoy it—especially as it does not get so loud we can’t hear each other talk. It’s also very popular with the Buckhead crowd and we were advised to come about 1 p.m. (We always reserve.) Even then, patrons were still filing in. Each time is the same (including the table at which we are seated): hostess is the embodiment of frigid; waiter is perfunctory; service is glacial, and the food is good. (Not outstanding, but more than serviceable and with generous portions.) Only this time, one companion found her chicken-apricot salad too sweet and asked if I wanted it. (Ha!) I ate a bite and sure enough, it was as if chicken had been mixed with super sugary apricot jam. I’m thinking this is a one-off goof because I’m sure I’ve had it before and it wasn’t like that. I normally order one of the salads (there is a choice of about six plus various combinations) but lately I’ve been having a pimento cheese fixation and for the first time noticed the grilled pimento cheese sandwich with bacon and tomato. OMG delicious! It came with a side; mine was mandarin oranges and beets in a raspberry (I think) vinaigrette. It was okay, not much seasoning. This is a sort of ladies-who-lunch place (three upscale ladies’ apparel shops are adjacent) but plenty of males are sprinkled about. And you can’t go wrong when you split your tab and come in under $15 including tax and tip.

Poor customer service/ Discrimination/ Non professional Staff

By Abir O |

just nowNEW-Edit I ve had the worst experience at this place for the first time in my life, I came in the morning with my three friends and little girl to have breakfast at this place, the moment we walked into the place the lady didnt even welcomed us she wanted to put us in a small table and squeeze on it with little girl we have, until i asked her if we can sit on the bigger table she was like go ahead and she left, that was one and guess who she was ? the manager, then the server came in he didnt even introduce him self or even say hi and provide good customer service, he asked us right away what to drink, I asked what you do have, he goes like "we have coffee just coffee" the way he said that its like "what do u think we should have of course coffee" i was not happy at all so far with the service, and we didnt like their menu so we decided to leave after ordering coffee we spent only 10mints at that place , when we were leaving the lady came in and said that we have to pay for the coffee we ordered that they didnt even bring it to the table and we didnt even drink, we asked for coffee then after the whole situation we e got treated and the bad service plus the menu we didnt like they wanted us to pay for that coffee that we dont even have on the table. at that moment we told her we cant pay something we didnt get plus we didnt like it in here so why we should, the lady who claims she was the manager started showing her attitude and yelling at us then she kicked us out of the place with little girl we literally we felt that we ve been discriminated because we were the only minority at this French restaurant since we walked in and how we got treated especially by a manager who claims her self the manager. Instead of providing great service and solve the problem and try to make it better and her customers happy she was yelling at us cuz we didnt want to pay for something we didnt even get plus the service just the whole situation and experience was the worst i have ever had in my life i ve recorded everything of this lady how she treated us and i will post so everyone realize how terrible is this place. I think this place needs a professional manager, trained more for great customer service also not treating people differently, i will never go back to it

Great local eatery

By M S |

This restaurant has great food, service and ambiance. Also, they have the absolute best desserts here. All the food is great, but their cakes are the absolute best.

Perfect Breakfast

By Wayne H |

We eat breakfast here everyday when we are in Atlanta. The herb omelet and the eggs over-easy on toast with grits & bacon are cooked perfectly. Kat it the best!

Fantastic meal

By MA M |

My husband had the Roast Pork loin and I had the Trout in Papierotte. The roast loin was the best he ever had. It had a crust and tasty sauce. My trout in paper served with veggies and rice was fabulous. Reasonable pricing. One of our best meals in Atlanta!! I’ve come for lunch many times and enjoyed several dishes. Also took home 4 desserts once for family. Never had a bad experience.

Treasure in a strip mall

By mbb4502 |

My husband and I happened into Cafe Lapin and were so impressed that it is a go-to place when we visit our son in Atlanta. Located in a bustling strip mall, the food is delicious and there are some unusual offerings. There are several variations of chicken salad and all are wonderful. I've gotten a very tasty tomato tart a couple of times that was a special for the day. If it's available when you visit, I highly recommend it. And, don't forget the desserts! Cafe Lapin has several cakes and the pieces are large enough to share.

Low-key Excellence

By Barb3333 |

Food and service were good. The portions were generous for lunch, the baguettes were fresh, and our server didn't mind refreshing the hot water for my tea. I had the tarragon chicken salad and my friend had the egg salad -- both had more chicken/egg than mayo -- which is not always the case. The french onion soup was very good. They have a few tables outside as well as lots of tables inside. We'll definitely be back!

Neighborhood gem

By ACtheworld |

This is a great gem in the corner of Peachtree Battle shopping center. The staff all seem French and the service is quiet, as many cafes in France. The food is excellent! The french toast for breakfast is wonderful. The variety of chicken salads for lunch are great - the combo plates are the best. The carrot cake for dessert is the best in Atlanta.

Cute Place !

By Christa S |

This place was adorable. For Easter they had these bunnies in the window and the sugar holder was the shape of bunny. Their aren't any kids menus, so if you have younger kids you should go elsewhere. I didn't see any of the people serving us have smiles on their faces so that is one reason I would give it a average. The second reason is half of the ceiling had blocks and half didn't. But if those thing would improve I would give this place a excellent. The food was great I had a turkey sandwich and with a side of potato chips. Great family place and I would go back if I am looking for a good brunch.

wonderful restaurant in Peachtree Battle Shopping Center

By paula c |

We eat at this restaurant weekly and have never had a bad meal. Great pork, chicken, and fish dishes. The desserts are wonderful - very rich though. The restaurant does not have a liquor license so bring your own wine. We also like the restaurant because at dinner it is generally quiet and you can hear each other talk.

Chicken salad!

By Lizardliz96 |

Love all of the chicken salad options! Had the jalapeño version and it was great. Mango gazpacho was delicious!

Enjoyable fresh lunch

By leonardoneill |

French cafe atmosphere. Quiche specialties but, also good choices for salads, sandwiches, soups and cake desserts. Service is great.

So out-dated it’s almost charminh

By Hollie2324 |

This is favorite spot with “ladies who lunch” and want quiet and don’t care about the food. The food is as dated and uninspiring as decor. (They only take phone reservations, if that tells you something). Unless those qualifications appeal to you, there are many other restaurants that are more esthetically appealing and have good food.

Good neighborhood French Cafe in Peachtree Battle

By Jim J |

Local owned and operated. Have eaten here for lunch, brunch, and dinner. Usually consistent with quality food and service. For dinner everything is good but especially enjoy short ribs, meat loaf, trout, and soups. The homemade desserts are excellent. The carrot cake is the BEST ever. Steve and Taylor are the best servers.
