This is my favorite moderately priced Portuguese restaurant. It is near my home and office, has very tasty food, and is clean and comfortable. The owners are very congenial. This is my "go to" restaurant when I want to eat a satisfying meal after a long day at the office. I start with a bottle of Vinho Verde (light, white, effervesent wine) and clams blanco (lots of garlic, cilantro, and white wine). Save the Portuguese roll which is heated for the juice in the pot of clams. I drink the juice like you would soup. Next, I have a large salad. It has lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. It sounds ordinary. But it is so delicious. I do not know what they do to the house made dressing that tastes so good. Sometimes I eat the salad after the meal so that I won't be tempted to order dessert. Jacinta makes the desserts. They are great too. Then I order either the chicken marsala with mushrooms, the fried Portuguese potatoes or rice and the vegetable of the day if they do not have broccoli rabe. Or, I go with a friend, and we order the mariscada red. It's a stew of shellfish. The juice is fabulous spooned onto the rice. Or, order a grilled lobster and bring a bib. Remember this is European food. While they do have some Hispanic things like tostones, this is Portugal. I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. It's at 4th and Tabor Rd. in Philly. There is a sports bar downstairs that gets packed when there is a soccer game on t.v. Go upstairs to the lovely little restaurant with real tableclothes. If Jacinta or Felito are in, say "Hi" from Roberta. The service is not always great, and some of the waitstaff do not fully speak or understand English. So be patient, please.

Nice little restaurant upstairs from a bar. I shared a wonderful octopus salad as an appetizer and had a very nice quail platter as a main course. My wife had a good paella, more than enough to take half home. The flan was delicious. Service was excellent.

I've been going to this place for years and it's one of the most amazing places! I am never disappointed with their food or their Sangria! The Lulas Fritas are amazing and so are their camarones al ajillo! The staff is friendly, polite and very very helpful! I give this place a 5+!

This is my favorite spot to eat Brazilian Food at a decent price, there Sangria is so delicious always go for the one with Liquor, you will thank me.

Nothing fancy, and often noisy (at least if one is eating downstairs in the bar area, with sports being displayed on the TVs there), if you are comfortable with a local no-frills restaurant with great service and excellent authentic Portuguese food, this is a great choice. One of the best feijoadas (though requires special order, week in advance, for at least 4 people) I've ever eaten, including several in Brazil and prepared at home by my Brazilian friends.

Go for the food (and caring service). Not if you are looking for a quiet, upscale setting. This is the equivalent of a neighborhood bar (with multiple TVs, definitely -- and noisily -- broadcasting any futbol game), except for very well prepared, authentic and quite tasty dishes. Especially enjoyed the octopus appetizer. And flan. A bit disappointing was the steak dish; although I ordered it medium rare, it came well done. I suspect it was made in advance, though I might be wrong. Tasty nevertheless.

The place is very cozy, great for a business or family reunion. The services was great and the food was really good. I love this Cafe

The food is fabulous! Very generous portions. The restaurant is small and quaint. Don't let the lack of pizazz on the outside discourage you from going here. It's a hidden gem! I was in a party of 8 and every single one of us loved our meals! They make their own potato chips. I wish they would sell them in the stores. Best I've ever had!

Was in town to visit our son and celebrate my husband's 4th of July birthday. Our son said that we couldn't leave Philly without going to Café Liz (Portuguese). We were certainly not disappointed. Small restaurant way on the other side of town, but very well work it; this place is a gem! Had to go upstairs to get to the restaurant (think there may be a bar downstairs); in any case, loved the ambiance of the restaurant, very welcoming atmosphere; the host/servers were pleasant and attentive; loved the detail regarding the meals; kudos to the chef!!! This restaurant is now on our places to go list when we visit Philly again; would recommend this to anyone who loves good food!!!
Service needs to improve
I have been going to this place for years and the service and the food is amazing! However, I went with my mother in law a couple of weeks ago and even though the food was good, the service was HORRIBLE. I know they change their staff every now often, but man they need to hire people that are customer service oriented and know how to treat people! We felt rushed and unattended :-( I am willing to give it another try, I hope o don’t get disappointed!
