Great atmosphere and the best waiter! Zurich (Zee) was the sweetest and most cheerful waiter! She made sure we were having a great experience.

Walking the Riverwalk and needed a sit down break so stopped here. Friendly service, water and quesadillas delivered quickly. Beer and margarita served after the food. The salsa brought is spicy and chips crisp. Overall okay for a stop.

I definitely will be back with the family! Elyssa was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and drinks were amazing.

Cafe Ole' offers delicious Tex-Mex cuisine. The the tacos al cabon are wonderful. The meat is a very tasty, very tender, well seasoned stew like meal. Excellent service and very attentive. Eric was our waiter and he was the best. I recommend you give it a try,

Went here on a recommendation for the 60 ounce margarita. You would think it's not going to be great because of the novelty - but it was really good. Food was really good too. But even better was our waitress, Dorothy. So personable and hard working. Really had a great lunch.

My daughter got severe food poisoning and needed intensive care. The waiter was never anywhere to be found and they brought us the wrong check. The server was touching the food on the plate with his hands and was sweating in the food. There is no way to contact anyone at the restaurant. They have a answering machine where you leave your name and number but no one has ever called back! The service was nonexistent! It doesn't matter how good the food tastes if you have to spend six hours watching your daughter throw up and spend hours in urgent care! It lasted six days of sickness!

Service was lacking, had to ask for silverware three different times. Food was just ok and drinks fair. I wouldn't go back.

We had a lovely lunch here on New Year's Day. We were a large group with 7 adults, 5 children, and an infant and they were more than accommodating. Our server, Josh, was fantastic. He noticed one of the kids in our group doing card tricks and joined in allowed the kids to show him tricks and he showed them some as well. The food was great. My husband and I split the fish tacos and opted for the charro which was a delicious bean and bacon dish. Most of our group split and shared dishes and the restaurant was very accommodating. There were also excellent options for the kids and great drinks for the grown ups. Location is fantastic right on the riverwalk. Because we were on the patio, we had a great view without people walking right by. Lovely place and a great lunch.

.We stopped hear because we were wore out from walking and what a surprise. The Margaritas were the bomb especially is you tossed in a shot of Grand Mariner . But the real treat was the Shrimp cocktail. nice size shrimp, but the the sauce made the dish. Living in San Diego and visiting Mexico you learn the good in their dishes. This was one of the best we have ever had. .

Frank is so very friendly and helpful. Gave us great ideas of what to see and do in San Antonio. The margaritas are so good!

Terri served us chef Gilbert's amazing elote and we had so much fun!! Highly recommended the corn and the steak. Thank you!!

Absolutely terrible. Don’t know what the chicken was, it was dark colored and had a weird texture and flavor. Nothing was warm enough, 6 of us had a terrible meal. Don’t go here!

Very very freaking horrible and terrible, i am not coming to this restaurant again EVER! I would not recommend this restaurant, this is the worst and stupidest place I’ve ever had. There some rude waiters mocking us, and gave us waters instead of tea we wanted. She said she didn’t care. And another man literally threw our plates, and took our unfinished plates and threw away our to-go box without our permission. They snuck and stole our money by clicking a lot of tips on the devices. We were so pissed!!

It's a great place for dinner and drinks. I really enjoyed the margaritas and our waitress Elyssa was the best!

We had a nice spot on the water. Food was pricey for what it was. Atmosphere is great. Guacamole was tasty. Fajitas needed more peppers and onions.

My daughter and I had dinner at Cafe Ole to kick off spring break! Our server, Elyssa, was so helpful.

My napkin was extremely dirty and there was dried food on my spoon. These are simple things that have to be correct if you serve food. Quesadilla was good and the salsa and queso were decent as well. Margarita wasn’t bad either was just turned off about what they got wrong right off the bat.

Good food, great margaritas and service was awesome. Isaiah was so friendly and an amazing server!!!

Cafe Ole is located just off Alamo Street in the heart of Riverwalk. It was booming during both our visits and the Margueritas are probably why. They feature more varieties than we thought existed, from the Old Traditional at $7.99 through an enormous, sure-to-make-you-happy, 30 ouncer in a giant frosted glass. You can order them in lots of ways - choice of the bar tequila or premium brands, on the rocks or frozen or with additions like fruit flavors or Cafe Ole creations. We found the Traditional to be just about perfect and that's a great price for a Marguerita on Riverwalk. The other compelling thing about Cafe Ole is the location. Just sit right down, although you might have a little wait, at a table right on Riverwalk , sip that wonderful Marguerita and people watch while you enjoy your tortilla chips and salsa or whatever else is your choice. It just can't be beaten! We found the food to be pretty average here. Of course, it's Tex Mex and we tried several things from con queso and appetizers to traditional Tex Mex favorites like enchiladas but nothing really stood out. There are better choices for the food but not for the drinks or the view. Service was not so great, either, but they were very, very rushed.

Visited San Antonio to view the eclipse and had to take a riverwalk, since it had been 30 years since we visited. Cafe Ole was perfect. The food was fantastic (I highly recommend the Asado de Puerco highly). Others had fajitas, shrimp and fish tacos as I recall and they enjoyed theirs also. Staff was friendly, attentive and professional even though the place was packed. Highly recommend.

Good waitress! Had no wait time. Food was great. Can’t wait to come again when I am back in town!!!!

Kim was a great waitress & food was great at Cafe Ole on Riverwalk. The roaming Mariachi band was a nice surprise and the view is great

Worst experience ever. Waiter totally was bad. Did not know menu, could not bring drinks. Floor was not clean and very slippery. No wonder this place dis nit have a wait. Pass on this place.

Good Day What I communicated to Cafe Ole with no Reply Just thought you might care. July 31st I was looking forward to dining on the River. Cafe Ole use to be my go to restaurant. Whenever I had a visitor in town, always Cafe Ole. But a few years ago you were overcharging guests and I haven’t been back since. Recently moved back thought I’d see if you’d gone back to the days when I thought you were the best. Dinner time not busy and you’ve merged with other locations now. I should of known better, all other restaurants around were slammed. Server was nice nothing special. I hate when they check up on you and ask if everything is ok. Who wants Ok. Ordered a beer, said to him ice cool glass, it was hot out of course. He acknowledged. What I get is a lil beer in a Plastic Cup. That’s not refreshing. Ordered something simple, Cheese Enchiladas. Nothing special, beans and rice not fresh, you can tell they have been sitting around. I ask for flour Tortillas, again not fresh or in a basket. Wrapped in paper, seemed like they were pre wrap. I won’t be returning anytime soon. $25 later and feeling taken advantage of. Sure you know not a good feeling. Taco Cabana so so much better. A lil advice, give customers more than they expect. Quality 100% of the time. And then you’ll never have to worry about competition.

We were seated promptly but didn’t have a server for at least 10 minutes. But when the server did make it to our table, she was very pleasant, friendly, and personable. The chips and salsa was better than most. The salsa had just the right heat and the chips were warm with a slight hint of salt. We also ordered the shrimp Caesar salad and beef tacos. The food was good but not over the top. If it wasn’t for the view of the River Walk, this was just another Mexican restaurant.

I looked at reviews and a 3.5 is generous. Although, I will typically not consider anything less than a 4, my husband liked the atmosphere so I gave in. The jalapeño poppers seemed like they were out of a box and served stone cold. $45 fajitas for 2 had literally 3 pieces of onion and peppers and the chicken had no juice and was dried out. If the atmosphere tries to lure you in, keep walking!

I had lunch here. Nothing extraordinary. I have certainly had better fish Tacos in Atlanta. Expected more in TX!

Ordered four small Margaritas here and a plate of nachos . Server charged us $78.00. Did not offer us a receipt. It’s a good location though and the Margaritas are very small but they were good.

Staff is amazing and helpful! Ask for Frank! He’s the best! Food is okay. Salad was bagged lettuce, could have been presented better. Margaritas were delicious and made it worth it. Big party and he was training too!

We ate around 2:30 on a Saturday. It was very hard to find a restaurant that didn't have a long wait time. We walked up and they had a table really close to the water. Food was good but atmosphere was better!

I didnt care for the food, neither did most of the family. However that being said Kim was great and took care of the issues right away once she realized I wasnt happy. Kim is the reason I am giving as many stars as I am giving.

Best margarita deals so far. Andrew was not the server but great with service with water and spicy salsa and chips. Destiny was our waitress and did not disappoint.

We had the beef fajita quesadillas and the fried cheese and the food was Very Delicious. Also the chips and salsa were Yummy. Angel was our waiter and he was very friendly and was a great server! Thanks Cafe Ole and Angel!

Mackenzie was our server and we wanted to give her our 5 star review cause she did a amazing job with our evening and our kids absolutely loved her

I ordered the chicken falutas and it was probabaly the best mexican food I've had in a while. Our waitress Elyssa was very excellent, nice and helpful with the menu! Looking forward to coming back to this place in March during Spring Break!

Our server. Kim, bent over backwards to make it an enjoyable experience. Loved the riverwalk. Very happy with the food. Recommend it.

The food and margaritas were amazing! We had Rob as a waiter and he was awesome! Highly recommend this place.

I really liked the place, and although the prices are a little high, the truth is that the portions are very large; if you can order a dish for two people; the atmosphere very good because you are by the river and enjoying the music and the praise of all the people.

We visited the Mexican Restaurant at Cafe Ole on December 18. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The food was tasty and bountiful, the drunks were good and our server Kim was friendly and very knowledgeable. We had a good experience and would definitely recommend.

The location right on the Riverwalk is great, the restaurant is large and at the time/day we went there were a lot of children. San Antonio has in general great Mexican food, this place was not it. The menu is good the food however, was not. We had ceviche as an appetizer; it was not very tasty. The enfrijoladas had dry bean sauce and the amount of cheese inside the cold tortillas was minimal. The charro beans were good and so was the rice.

This was our first time visiting Cafe Ole. Josh was the most awesome server I've ever had. He was fast and knew what he was saying! Never did he discourage us from trying any of the food. Food was delicious. I will be back again.

The first thing, the food is so awful and nasty. I won’t recommend the margaritas because, they’re,tasted like spoiled egg. This restaurant is so disrespectful. I am mad at the waiters and the food. They didn’t cook the food properly and poured the water on it. This blonde waitress called me a “worthless s***”, but I didn’t do anything. I was kindly asked her for a iced sweet tea but instead she gave me a water. I just witnessed a woman got disrespected by the same waiter…

Margarita in a plastic cup, tasteless quesadillas, withered vegetables. Payment required before submitting the note

I came with a group of 6 and our server was a very energetic person who made sure we were treated right after having to wait almost 2 hours at Rita’s. Her name was Elyssa, and we can’t wait to go back during another celebration in March and ask for her again! We trace from Dallas, so it’s nice to feel a nice and welcoming feeling when we’re in San Antonio. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Decided to spend the day in San An and came across this lovely restaurant. The food was great but the service was even better!! Elyssa was our waitress for the day and she was excellent, gave great suggestions and was very attentive to our table!! Would definitely come back

Salsa was good. Chips a bit thick for my liking. Service was fast. Both mine and my husband's meals were good. Just basic Tex-Mex fare. Just what we were looking for.

Frank did an outstanding job waiting on our group. We all had to have separate checks and he made it all so easy. Nice place to stop and get a drink and some basic food.

Great customer service from a bilingual waiter called Jake. Food was served fast, hot, well presented, and it had good flavor. While other restaurants blatantly tell you there is 1.5 hour waiting time without even letting you finish your sentence, the staff at cafe Ole could not be friendlier and more accommodating. The hosts that meet you at the entrance try to work with you instead of telling you what they cannot do for you. The restaurant staff though is not consistently wearing masks, and folks are allowed to smoke when seating outside. I did not appreciate the smell of cigar next to my great enchiladas with salsa verde.

Recently weekday evening with children for early dinner. I wish remembered our servers name ( ate indoors due to heat 6pm) she was fabulous!!! Glad I didn’t read reviews before because everything we ordered was very good, no wait, good prices. Would visit again!!

We've been to San Antonio's Riverwalk many times over the years and have eaten at Cafe Ole before, albeit, it's been about 7 years since our last visit. This time around, the food was bad, the drinks were over priced ($15 for a so-so margarita in a plastic cup), and the service was not great. To be fair, it was extremely crowded on the riverwalk that night, but I imagine they're used to the big crowds and should be prepared. The waiter disappeared for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, and the verde sauce on our enchiladas was so salty, it was nearly inedible. To top it all off, we were caught between two mariachi bands, so there was an awful cacophony throughout the meal. Needless to say, we will not ever go back.

Yep 3 is about right, wait staff good, host staff could care less… good margarita but the place stinks like an old wet mop. Maybe it’s the riverwalk sewer water but we had to leave

Believe it or not, the food here was actually better than the place where we had dinner the night before ... 'cause the food here was really just average. It was plentiful, however. The drinks were the best part of the meal. Big, generous, icy cold. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The Mariachi's were entertaining, as they are with all the restaurants. If you're along the River Walk and you're hungry or thirsty, you could do worse.

Hi the food was good and the ambience as well what I loved the best was the way each meal that we were interest in was explained by frank. He took a lot of effort to ensure we got what we wanted and also helped us with some local information for us to visit. Thanks frank

Walking along the river walk and happened to stop. All staff were were so nice. The food was good and not overpriced. Our table was along the river and it was so relaxing. We were even serenaded by a mariachi band!

Beautiful, virtually cloudless day was the first of February. Mid 70's, lots of people on the Riverwalk. Great time to sit down, have a cold one, watch people and eat some good Mexican food. Waitress Kim had a sixth sense and was around the table when needed making she we had everything during our late lunch.

Place wasn’t terrible but food was average. Definitely over priced if you ask me. There’s a lot of Mexican competition in area but this did not hit the mark. Generic and lacked flavor in food.

Kim has been absolutely great. She brought food on time and really cares about the quality of service being provided.

We had just got to San Antonio and we were very hungry and hot on the riverwalk. We saw this place and the hostesses were dressed up and the menu said tex-mex and that’s what we were wanting. I got the spicy beef chalupas. I wasn’t expecting Taco Bell chalupas but I was thinking it was still gonna be a deep fried fluffy shell of some sort like the description said. I got 2 beef tostadas. The meat wasn’t that great. They were grocery store tostadas. I’m not sure if that’s Tex mex chalupas or what but I was disappointed. The rice and beans weren’t good either. The rice tasted from a minute bag. The best part of the meal was the chips and salsa they were so good. Service was alright. The server wasn’t very attentive and never said thank you or you’re welcome. I only gave 3 star for the salsa. I would skip this place.

Our experience was great. Dianna was our hostess and Dorothy was our server. Will definitely be back!!!

Food was delicious. Our server Elyssa was great! I ate chicken quesadillas and queso dip. Atmosphere was super fun!

Dorothy’s attention to detail and excellent customer service made our lunch today extra special. Her recommendations were spot on and we had a great time. The tortilla soup and tostada were delicious!!

We were very disappointed in our dry tasteless meals. The food seemed to have been sitting too long under a heat lamp. We were also disappointed with the service. The waiter seemed disinterested in what we needed or if we were satisfied. He stood nearby to watch the television over us without really any concern for our needs. Had to ask for water refills and the check. The location on the Riverwalk is what you pay for here. It sure isn’t the food.

Went with family to enjoy authentic Latin cuisines. Wait time was very minimal. The waitress (Elyssa) was very attentive and informative. Best of all the food was delicious! Will be returning on our next family getaway.

Cafe Ole has a great location on the Riverwalk and the requisite Tex-Mex decor and menu. We were greeted warmly, seated quickly (no reservation) and our server started off very attentive. Once we were served he was MIA - had to ask another server to find him for our check. Food was not that good. Two at our table had the vegetable fajitas - mostly summer squash, bland and watery. I had fish tacos - I liked the cabbage slaw but the fish was greasy and lacked flavor. This is probably a fun place for margaritas later in the evening.

Sitting outside under the covered balcony overlooking the Riverwalk was the best part. We can't complain about our food but nothing to fav about either. It's all about the location.

From very basic food (salads were worse than Salad and Go), to horrendous service (rude, unaccommodating), to way over priced food, this was a big mistake. Avoid it. Go to Taco Bell instead!

Elyssa was a great waiterss, she was ontop of everything we needed and helped with the menu, and explained everything very well, definitely will be coming back.

We visited Cafe Ole to have late lunch and it wasn’t that good. We ordered enchiladas which I don’t recommend at all. The service was excellent and the waitress was very helpful. The place looks very disorganized, floors and bathrooms are horrible. This is a busy place. The limonadas are okay. I won’t eat in this restaurant ever again.

I came here not too long ago with a friend. We weren't sure what's good, espeically since my friend was a picky eater. Luckily, our server Elyssa, was about to explain the menu to my friend and she was patient with her. 😭😭 When the food came, her recommendation was great! My friend enjoyed her food without a single complaint. Alyssa's customer service was amazing and she always gave us a wonderful smile.

Alexander Y was very friendly, attentive, and courteous. The food we ordered came out quickly and was delicious.

Dined here recently on a business trip. The food was good and the service was great. Big drink selection. They have a humongous margarita!

This was a great spot right on the river. Their margaritas were great as was their Tex-Mex food. There is indoor and outdoor seating. You are going to be paying a little more than the average Mexican restaurant due to the location.

Stopped here for dinner and so glad we did. Kim deserves five stars alone! She always anticipated our needs and managed to satisfy our hangry toddler (not a small feat). Good food for the price and had a nice view of the Riverwalk.

This was our first time here and we were greatly impressed. Our server Elyssa was very attentive and nice. Will definitely come back soon

Elyssa was very friendly and helpful when picking out food option from the menu. Thank you Elyssa!! 🙂

For being out of towners and our first time visiting this restaurant (Cafe Ole), Josh was an amazing server! He knew his menu so well! He always put a smile on our faces! Fast, friendly and cortious! Josh will be an inspiration to return on our next trip! Surprisingly he's still in training! Way to go Josh! We need more servers like Josh! By the way great food and drinks! Thanks to the manager for his support!

Went to Cafe Ole with a bus tour group. They were ready for us, but failed to refill glasses and ask if anyone needed anything. I had cheese enchilada and it was tasteless. Silverware was dirty and took a long time to get replacement. The sauce served with tortilla chips was way too hot for most in our group of 44. Hubby said the taco didn't taste right, but ate them anyway. He was sick that night and all the next day. There was supposed to be groups of mariachis. Walked past them at the door when we were leaving and they were just unpacking instruments. Wouldn't go there again, or recommend them.

We had lunch here on March 20,2023. Erik had fajitas with a Noche De Los Muertos Margurita and Cheryl had a cheese quesadilla with an Effen Cucumber Margurita. Our server was excellent and very attentive. The food and drink took a little bit longer than expected. The drinks were quite tasty but a bit overpriced. The food was well presented and quite good. Overall a good experience and we would eat there again.

Nice day to sit on the river walk and have a cool drink. Two margaritas served in small plastic cups and two 16 oz beers = $61 (including tip). Our waiter was very good and quite funny. He said he gets lots of negativity on the small plastic cups they use. Every place nearby was packed, but this place had plenty of seating inside and out (guess we should have known that to be a bad omen).

Such a cool place. Right on the Riverwalk. Food was good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our visit and have no problem returning. See our YouTube channel Coolest Life.

If you need mobility( wheelchair) accessibility 10/10 do not recommend. They lead us all the way through the restaurant. Did not offer to help move anything. My friend would get stuck at certain points and I had to personally move tables and chairs. I understand sections open, but they could have just said sorry we can’t make this work inside. Food was sub par. We only got guacamole, salsa, and the cheese dip. Salsa had heat with no flavor. Cheese dip was the yellow cheese. Honestly it was like the wish.com version of what I could make at home with velveeta and rotel. The guacamole was okay at best. Out of the three it was the best.. service after the hostess was fast and attentive, but the hostess needs to be trained on how to handle a guest in a wheelchair. We left and went to casa rio.

We had the pork chop with mashed potatoes with gravy and mix veggies! The meat had a good taste but way over cooked and it was dry and tough ! I would eat there again but I would inform them that I will not accept over cooked dry meat!

Matthew rocks. Keep him busy, yo. The free queso with our convention badges is amazing. Quessadilla was perfect.

We had an awesome waiter named Frank who made our experience even more memorable. He told us about local places to eat when in town. We loved the food and the atmosphere of being on the water front!

ROB IS AMAZING!! So friendly and upbeat!!! I would come here again! The 60 oz marg is great and would 100% recommend 😂 along with the great service 👍🏼👍🏼

Best margaritas I've had great atmosphere for dinner, and Elyssa the most pleasant, attentive waitress ever.

The only good thing I can say is this was the only restaurant on the Riverwalk with no wait. I see why. The food is not good. For 3 people the bill was $72 and that doesn’t include the beer that was ordered but never came. Drink glasses went empty and stayed that way, food came but still no silverware, service was not great. But the food was very small proportions and not worth the price especially with very little flavor. Will not be back.

We went for lunch during a work trip and the food was just ok. We sat outside so the setting was cool. Our server was very attentive.

Simply put, Cafe Ole is at best a mediocre choice among the other mediocre Tex-Mex restaurants along the San Antonio Riverwalk. There is a reason why Cafe Ole is avoided by locales and other persons who appreciate authentic and delicious Tex-Mex cuisine; it’s just not good. Add poor service to the mix and you have a formula for an unpleasant dining experience. The best advice when dining along the San Antonio Riverwalk is to skip Cafe Ole and ask a local San Antonio resident or even one of the employees at Cafe Ole where they recommend when seeking out excellent Tex-Mex cuisine.

This is in a great location on the Riverwalk but the food was very disappointing. We went to this restaurant hoping for an authentic Mexican dinner for our last meal at the Riverwalk but we were greatly disappointed. The food was just okay nothing with great flavors. Our group got Nachos and they were actually the best part of the meal. We got street tacos, a chicken combination plate of taco, enchilada and chalupa and a Mexican hamburger. The person that had the street tacos said it had no flavor, and I would say the same for the chicken combo. The most flavor was with the enchilada. They were able to serve us very quickly as the whole meal was over within an hour. Would not recommend this restaurant.

After a cruise on the river walk my family deciided to stop for lun h here and it was a great decision. We were seated immediately and our server Alex S. Came over to take our orders and was very attentive throughout the meals. I had a margarita and it was really good with a good shot of tequila. Our chops and salsa was very good also and we didn't have to bother with an appetizer. I ordered the street tacos with carne asada and it was awesome and I really enjoyed it. My wife had the taco salad and thought it was very tasty and the right size. The very was very reasonable for three people with drinks. Definitely was worth the visit.

Stopped by for a late lunch on a busy Saturday. Ordered a Fajita for two...I had to ask twice to have someone to clean the table and the chairs. The Fajita was the worst ever i had in TX....it was cold and tasteless, the beef was hard...very small portion for a dish that was supposed to be for 2. We had 2 tortilla by person...one small Boulet of Guacamole....I will advice anyone especially tourist to walk away...plenty of good choices to eat in San Antonio

Excellent Service and ambience! Our server, Elyssa, lead the experience. Service was personable and timely.

My family and I were at the restaurant early morning and we were gladly helped by Elyssa. She is a wonderful waitress and we enjoyed her service!

Hostess was really rude, even the server’s talk to her to change her actitud with out result, Spanish layer right at the entry that don’t even speak Spanish, which does not matter but still her actitud was super painful..

Just visited San Antonio for the first time & I am so lucky to have been treated so well at this establishment. Elyssa was our server & she was so great!

The queso with Spicy beef was simply terrible. The margarita was ok. Pricey and not worth it! Nice view but queso so bad!

Came here for the first time and our server Elyssa was super nice and so helpful. She gave us great food recommendations and was so attentive! Will definitely come back!

Remarkable service and the outstanding efforts of our waiter Justin elevated our dining experience.

Food was so so, drinks were in plastic cups, way over priced for the entire menu, waiter was nice, once again food was not very good.

Nasty food and waiters are being rude. Please do not go to that restaurant. Food are not cooked well.. I am disappointed that I wasted my money on that restaurant. I am not coming back wver again

1st, food order was wrong, so kids had to wait to get their fajitas cooked. The fajitas showed up, but they forgot the tortillas, After 15 minutes and me talking with 3 other people we got the tortillas. By then my Wife and I had finished our food. Asked several times for drink refills, but never got them. When we got back to our room 3 of my Family members had stomach aches from the food. 1st and last time we will go to this restaurant. Been to Riverwalk many times.

Located on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, you will find a group of Mexican restaurants with Mariachi musical ensembles playing all your favorite Mexican restaurant music. Cafe Olé was the one we chose out of the four that were all bundled next to each other. Lured by the lively music, free flowing margaritas, cervezas, and appealing plates of food on the outside dining tables. I ordered beef tacos, rice and beans. I was looking forward to some great Tex/Mex flavors but the meals delivered to our table turned out to be little more than what one might get from a fast-food drive through. The Mariachi could be heard playing down the isle at a few of the other tables and one of them made his way down to our table and asked if we had a song we’d like to hear at our table. I asked if they knew “Spanish Eyes”. He said “Yes!” and said that it would be $20. I declined and finished my so-so Mexican meal.

Maybe the best thing about this place is being along the Riverwalk. Was there in the middle of the afternoon on a fairly warm day and seated outside. The pigeons were waiting for an opportunity to steal chips or anything else they could get their beaks on. When our food came, the yellow jackets came out so we were swatting them away besides fending off the pigeons. I suppose that should be expected for sitting outside near the riverwalk, but it was a bit of a nuisance and would be more so for any one allergic to bee stings. The water and beverage glasses are huge. Not much for non-alcoholic beverages though. I had baja fish tacos; have had better in other places. My friend had chicken enchiladas that she said were good. Service was ok, nothing extraordinary but no complaints.

Elyssa was awesome! Super nice, attentive, and energetic. Our food was fantastic and so we’re our sweet tea and Dr. Peppers haha.

Nice view of the river. Excellent service, the staff, and servers were friendly. The food was just ok though. It did not stand out among the numerous restaurants along the Riverwalk serving Mexican-inspired food.

We went with another couple in the search of the best prickly pear margarita. They won! It was great. Terry took great care of us in the bar area. She made suggestions which we followed and she didn’t guide us wrong. We really had a great experience, great drinks and great nachos. Thank you Terry!

I visited a few days ago and it was an amazing start to my 2020. Elyssa was a great waitress and never kept us waiting. I'm definitely going to go back just for her!

Chips, salsa, queso, and service were good. Refried beans had a strong fish taste. Probably old cooking oil, but not what you want in your frijoles. Tortillas were not properly cooked resulting in dry, crumbly enchiladas. Best to avoid this pricey and mediocre establishment.

We visited Cafe Ole for the first time and we were very ify. As soon as our server Josh arrived we just didn't want to leave. This was the best service I've ever had at any restaurant that I've been to. Josh made us feel so welcomed and at home. That is what you call great customer service! Food was very delicious and the El Patron margarita was the best! I can't wait to come back again!

Had the Alamo Golden Ale to start. Then some Pulled Pork Crunch Tacos. Everything was good. Excellent location.

We arrived at our hotel later than planned due to delays in our all-day drive. It was also Saturday evening, so the tourist crowd had spiked for the week at the River Walk. Hence, we quickly became less selective as to our dinner venue. We checked out one place we'd planned to eat, but they appeared to have a significant wait. So, our standard became 'who has only a short or no wait?'. The first place that met this was Cafe Ole. I'm not even sure why; maybe we just happened by at the right time? We were able to sit inside (it had reached the upper 90s that day and sitting outside, even with misters going, wasn't an attractive option). The AC inside felt great! Service was a bit slow, but in fairness they still were close to capacity so I don't fault the staff. They seemed to be doing the best they could given the rush. We ordered fairly standard Tex-Mex dishes. I thought my taco-burrito plate was adequate. I think my wife was okay with whatever she got. My daughter was not impressed with her nachos, but liked the salad. Prices were somewhat high, but in line with the mark-up you pay for any restaurant along the River Walk. Would I make a special effort to seek this place out? Probably not. Am I glad they had no wait and served decent food when I was hungry and overdue for dinner? Definitely! If you are on the River Walk under similar circumstances, this isn't a bad choice.

This spot is great for a fun lunch right on the riverwalk. We wanted tacos / TexMex and they delivered! They also have a mariachi band that walks around and will provide a personal serenade for $20. The margaritas were fantastic, and it was a fun, enjoyable lunch.

Great service, everyone was kind but the food was bad imo. The food doesn’t have any flavor. I definitely do not recommend it.

Had margaritas and then dinner watching the people on the river walk. Margaritas were excellent. Combination plates had plenty of food and quality was very good. Chips were warm upon delivery. Great location right on the bend of the river.

Old BAD food. Was not fresh at all. Frozen margarita was liquid. Got seared by the door that people were coming in and out so the draft was unbearable. No crayons or anything for children.

Elyssa was very helpful. She had great costumer service. Very nice, happy and sweet. I will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I were looking for a place to eat and have a few drinks and we chose Cafe Ole because 1. We were greeted by gentlemen named Randy with best attitude and personality. It was a no-brainer. The beer was as cold as described by Randy, maybe colder. The food was fantastic as well. This is definitely our new "place"!! Thanks to the staff for a wonderful evening, and to Randy for enticing us to cine with Cafe Ole!!

Went here for Mexican and to watch the March madness basketball. There was one tv with the game on and even though we asked to sit next to it, we had to sit at the table furthest away from it across the room. My eyesight was so bad I couldn’t read the score so we could have gone somewhere else and just had dinner because I couldn’t see the game. Nobody sat at the table near the tv while we were there. Because we were only two people and it was a 6 top, we couldn’t sit there. My husband loved his food. Mine was Ok.

Pretty bad food, bad customer service, awful drinks. Visited last night with the family not even the kids liked the food, husband ordered chicken fajitas, OMG 3 pieces of chicken with nothing on it, won’t go back, like never again.

The main appeal of this restaurant is that it's right on the Riverwalk with outdoor seating. It was a little busy and it was about a 30 minute wait for outdoor seating so we chose to sit inside. We could still see the water from inside so it was all good. The waitress was very sweet and attentive and the food was delicious! Some of the best shrimp fajitas I've had. We also had our picture taken and recieved one complimentary photo....you have the option to buy more. Overall the experience was great and I will be back to try one of those huge margaritas!

We originally stopped by because we wanted to get a drink after our long travel time to San Antonio. When we got there, we were greeted by our super friendly server Fernando! He talked to us like we were his friends and made us feel so welcomed. It was definitely a great way to start the trip, he left a lasting impression on us. Thank you Fernando! Drinks were great, food was good, but the service definitely made the experience 10/10.

Mathew at Cafe Ole was great and the enchilada verde was delicious. Perfect location on the river walk!

Service was great! Wait time was great! Elyssa was wonderful! Will come again when we are back in town

Our server, Alexander Y. was superb - needs to be recognized for his great attitude and customer focused work. Chicken fajitas quesadilla were great. Quesa dip was delish! Seating outside was cool - overlooking the riverwalk!

We had a very good Mexican meal at Café ole on San Antonio‘s Riverwalk. No line to get in. Cedric our waiter was great. We had the beef fajitas more than two people can eat. Margaritas were also excellent. We were definitely come back again. Many tables with Riverwalk view.

Great service! Elyssa was fantastic!! Fun atmosphere and great food and drinks! I highly recommend it!

We specifically told our waiter we didn’t want onions or cilantro in our guacamole… and not spicy. He confirms that “nothing is spicy”. And he assured is the guacamole was JUST avocado. When it arrived, it had some sort of dark oil in the middle of it (essentially flavorless thankfully, not spicy), but it was also loaded with garlic &/or onion salt. 🤮 Not good. The red salsa that came with the chips was also too spicy. We get our food. We ordered the soft chicken tacos & the soft shrimp tacos. The shredded chicken was fine… not super flavorful, but also not spicy. 👍🏼 One of the shrimp tacos came with a corn relish. When I took the first bite, I thought I was in heaven… until my mouth lit on fire. 🔥 I was so disappointed. Those flavors were SO good together, but they had to add jalapeños to the mix (again after I specifically asked for nothing spicy.). And the other shrimp taco had a cabbage mix WITH cilantro. So again, the waiter did not really pay attention to what we asked. That same waiter never checked in on us again… it was 2 or 3 other staff that delivered our food, checked in on us, brought our bill, etc. Therefore, we couldn’t really explain to them that things were too spicy because they hadn’t heard our initial conversation with the waiter who took our order. Anyway, I’m going to send positive vibes out to San Antonio & hope we find something really authentic & they can modify our meals where needed so we can actually enjoy them & eat our moneys worth. This is our first time visiting your great city! Show us what you’ve really got!!

Yes, the riverwalk area was extremely busy on a Saturday night. Yes, the wait was shorter at this restaurant. It all made sense once we were seated. Service was slow and apathetic. Server was overloaded with tables. If a restaurant charges $20 for a margarita, they could at least serve in a glass and not a plastic “Dixie”cup! Food came out fairly quickly but quality was disappointing. It then took entirely too long to pay out check. AVOID this restaurant and go somewhere else. I hate getting caught in a tourist trap, but that is what happened to my hungry family and friends.

We were screwed over at Rita’s by “seating constraints”, so we ran as fast as we could to our favorite place on the The Riverwalk, Cafe Ole, and were literally treated like old friends by Gracie, Teri, and the manger Erin. They took such good care of us and we could not speak more highly of the food! Usually we get the BIG 60oz Marg with Beef Fajitas, which is always our go-to, but today we opted for something a bit lighter with the Horchata (best on TRW!), cheese enchiladas, and tortilla soup (seriously amazing with a huge slice of avocado on there!). I’m beyond amazed with the quality of food and service at Cafe Ole and will continue to make it a staple for us every time we visit SA!

Food was disappointing. I had chalupas with beans. There was barely a smearing of beans on a tortilla flat with mostly lettuce and tomato. Refried beans and rice were good but not as good as most places. Price was too much for quality. I had a prickly pear margarita and have had a lot better. Had to give average - would not go back. 😟

She is very nice and respectful! I would recommend her as being your waitress. I didn’t have to wait long and had a good time

The food was just average—nothing great, nothing terrible but the service…wow….it was very poor. We only saw our waiter about three times during the entire visit and were helped once by another server. We were told at the end after having to request our check that he got too busy behind the bar with all of 4 people sitting there. There were no drink refills offered. I would not recommend this place on the River Walk. Keep walking. Also, Happy hour drinks were small (12 oz) and barely tasted like they contained any alcohol. Never again….

Frank gave great service and the food and drinks were amazing! Good view as well on the river walk watching the water and ducks flow by.

Ate outside next to the river. Surprisingly we were seated immediately. There were no bugs but lots of people walking by. The server was ok. If you order the 60-oz drink you must share it with someone. The food came reasonably quickly, the portions were good-sized, the food good but not great. Restroom needs to be better marked.

Let me start by saying that our waiter was great. I’m having a hard time understanding why this place is open, the food was horrid. I ordered some nachos and I kid you not it was canned cheese. I don’t recall ever eating anywhere and gaging after a bite. The waiter said he would take mine off my ticket but even my wife and daughter left more than 90% of their plate. We paid for the rest but headed to another burger place we found. I can guarantee you’ll find better Tex-Mex at taco cabana even taco bueno. How this place is still open is beyond me.

Great place to rest from a long walk and take in the sights of the San Antonio Riverwalk. We split the 60 ounce margarita and were not disappointed. We’d had virtually the same meal over 20 years ago before we were married, so they’ve been around for awhile. Hope to see them again soon.

This is not the first time that we’ve come here. In our humble opinion, it’s a consistent 4 out of 5. Yes, there are hiccups here & there, but nothing out of the ordinary for a fast paced restaurant. Always great food & great hospitality. Kenny, our server was great and focused even with a busy restaurant. Give him a raise. As always, I knock them on not having any pricing on their beer menu & for as long as they’ve been open, they should provide at least two types of salsas with their chips after they sit their costumers. One not spicy (green chili) and one spicy (like they have now). My wife always hates it when there’s no other option since she’s not into spicy food.

Walked the whole Riverwalk until we stopped at this great place. Great food better service from elyssa coming back next time we’re in town

The riverwalk comes alive quickly at night. All of a sudden there were waits at most restaurants. We were able to be seated here quickly so we ate. Our waiter Cedrick was very good and friendly. Food was ok.

If this is “some of the finest Tex-Mex along the San Antonio Riverwalk” as their website claims, I’m going to be very disappointed in the River Walk. The food was fairly bland, but not bad. The signature drinks however we’re spring break caliber. Over sweetened wastes of decent booze.

My Aunt and Uncle were coming into town, this was their first time in San Antonio. We went to Cafe Olé. All of our first time here. I wanted my Aunt and Uncle to see the River Walk and to get some Tex-Mex Cuisine. I ordered the Combination Numero Dos (One Chicken Enchilada, Crispy Chicken Taco, and a Chicken Chalupa.) My enchilada had salsa verde and it was AMAZING. I also loved my chalupa. Everyone was nice in Cafe Olé. Funny while I was eating my chalupa some of it fell on the floor. Our waiter came over and swept it up, I apologized and he said it was ok, he wasn’t mad at all.

Elyssa was great very helpful and accommodating. She was attentive and she was friendly and funny. The food is great. Didn’t make a Mexican martini correctly but it also wasn’t on the menu

Overpriced and not Mexican food anymore than is Taco Bell. Scenic and good location but poor quality food.

Definitely going back for dine and drinks. Had a great meal, atmosphere was nice, nice place to gather with friends.... our server Elyssa was so friendly, great smile,attitude..service was excellent!

Sat at the bar. Big mistake if you are not a local. No engagement from the staff. Dirty counters. All around not friendly. Didn't even try to make it right. Food, fajitas, ok. Very expensive. Go to a higher end place. You'll get better service and better food for nearly the same price. Seriously, $7.00 for a draft, plastic cup Michalob Ultra. We live in a tourist town, Kemah, TX and we pay $3.50 for a 16oz can.

This is a great restaurant to visit especially if you're new to San Antonio, our server Elyssa was so nice and friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Would defiantly come back for the good food and service.

It was a great place to have dinner and drinks. Great food and service. Ashley(Baby) was our sever and she was fantastic. We will return!

Visited recently on a business trip. Sat right on the River Walk. The atmosphere was great, our server was excellent, and the food was very good. However, the portions were very small for the price. I had a combo that included a chicken flauta and enchilada. The portions were what you’d expect from the Taco Bell value menu.

All I can say is I wish I could give zero stars. I have never written a review in my life but this was, hands down, the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. First, after multiple requests we were not provided with silverware, plates, or chips and salsa (that was complimentary at every other table). Once the food came, we were not provided with the tortillas to go with the fajitas so, while the rest of the table finished their meal, I had to sit and watch them eat. After the waitress walked directly past me without stopping when I flagged her down, we had to get up and seek out another waitress to get us the necessities we repeatedly requested. To top it off, once the chips came there was a spider fried onto the chip right on top of the basket (as pictured). Obviously after seeing the spider none at the table wanted to eat any of our food. When we finally were able to speak to a manager and all that we were offered was a 10% military discount and to take off the fajitas that were not eaten. They took our card without giving us a receipt and upon review of this receipt after payment, we noticed that they charged us for the items that they said would be removed. DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

The salsa, guac and queso were not good at all - should have been our first sign. The entree was mediocre, once they finally brought out the CORRECT food. The waiter was very odd, made us feel very uncomfortable. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Service was mediocre even though not very busy. I am from California and have been eating Mexican food for almost 50 years. This was some of the worst ever "Mexican" food I have had. In reality it is cheap cheap cheap to enhance their profits. The chips were dusted with chili powder and i asked for plain chips. No, none available. So i skipped the chips. Brought my beer in a can so I asked for a glass. When I got the bill, they charged me $1 extra from bringing a glass. Then came the chicken flautas. No shredded cheese but a cup of melted cheese to pour over. This is not a fondue restaurant, and they can take their $1 for the beer glass and stick it you know where.

After every single person in our party requested to sit outside (there were 9 of us and we were the only people at the restaurant as it was late afternoon), the hostess decided we had to sit inside. We ordered our drinks and the server brought salsa, warning it would be "white girl hot" (her words, not mine). It was not hot at all. Don't get me wrong, she was super nice and helpful! The food was soooooo bland.

Our server, Elysa, was friendly and very attentive. She was friendly and great to talk to. I'll be returning.

Server was rude. Hostess kept staring at my husband uncomfortably until he asked me to leave. When we left, the girls yelled “how’re you doing”. Very weird experience. The host with long fake lashes was very unprofessional.

Awful experience. The Mexican rice was unevenly textured and pasty. The chips for the guac were very salty. The guac had bits of the avocado produce sticker mashed up in it. When I asked the waiter for some new chips without the seasoning, he said salty seasoned chips are the best and that's the only way they come!

Was okay. We came at a very busy time and seemed to be forgotten for awhile. Our server forgot what she was bringing us a couple of times and we had to wait. (The person who brought the food to the table did give an eyeroll to our server). Our server did apologize at the end, but unsure if it was legit or was worried about her tip. Food was average for a mexican restuarant. It was hot and presented well on plates. Portion sizes were good to generous.

The positives were that the food was pretty decent and we had a very accommodating and friendly server. The negative was that the hostess seating people seemed annoyed that we had a stroller with us and was getting annoyed with us having the carry the stroller up the multiple sets of stairs in the restaurant. Overall it wasn't a bad eperience.

Great food and fun. Our server, Elyssa, was friendly and did a great job! Nice place on a sunny day in San Antonio.

Excellent food.Only Draw back was having to share the 60 ounce Margarita. Dorothy was an excellent waitress.Great atmosphere outside on the River Walk.

I had the enchiladas verdes recommended by my server Elyssa who was very attentive to our visit and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was great would definitely come back for the service again.

Our host Randy was very friendly, wouldn't have gone in if it wasn't for him. Our server Teri was fast and friendly too. Great food!

Great frozen margarita, schooled them in Lon Island Iced Tea, had a delicious shrimp taco, and recommended enchilada verde. Alejandri was a great ambassador to San Antonio. Enjoyed the service. The Riverwalk is fantastically unique!

In San Antonio for business and our first night we happened upon Cafe Ole on the Riverwalk. We are very familiar with Mexican food (quality offerings in NW Ohio) but the flavors and richness of the food at Cafe Ole were exceptional. In addition to the great food, our waiter Joel Ramos was amazing. He was very friendly and engaging and definitely made our dining experience better! We would give a 6 Star rating if we could!
The Salsa was a funky milky color and the ghost margarita was so sweet, it was undrinkable!
Horrible!!! I don’t know which was worse, the service or the drinks! So many other great choices along the Riverwalk!
