Great hidden gem! We were seated immediately by the sweetest hostess! She knew that we were there to celebrate my sweet friends birthday! I was very appreciative to how they made her feel special! The food was amazing too! I’ll definitely be back! I highly recommend the red fish!!

Food is consistent BUT the staff needs to relearn customer service. If you are not one of the regulars, the staff's attitude is snobby... please teach them that they are there to serve customers and not show an attitude towards them... Nothing special to go back especially if the staff isn't there to make your evening a good one.

The premises are lovely. Food is excellent. Nice selection of by the glass wines. Wait staff is attentive without hovering.

From the first greeting until the end of your meal service is one of the outstanding attributes of Cafe Pacific. The Dover Sole was cooked to perfection and tasted great. There are many other wonderful seafood entrees and salads to choose from. My only regret was not having more time to savor my meal and enjoy a desert. Though busy at lunch time the meal was served in a timely manner.

Have been coming off and on for 30 years and CP never skips a beat; however, there are now a few fixits that need to be addressed. Entrance, service, settings, food and staff are all flawless. Today, my wife said she had the best fried shrimp in her life; that’s a testimonial. Onion crusted Sea Bass still a winner, and the Oysters Rockefeller were perfectly understated. Still a fair markup on wine as opposed to the 3X seen elsewhere. Do make a reservation and be sure to ask for Charlie’s area. That said, CP should retire the sweet potato twigs unless they are freshly fried and seasoned. Ours were bland and beyond chewy. Also, management needs to look up and address the ceiling. Are the vents really that dirty or is it mold? For an establishment that obviously pays attention to things on the floor, the vents and the inoperative lights above are a noticeable contradiction.

Had a great dinner at this very upscale bistro-type venue in Dallas. Ambience was superb and the dinner was excellent. Fernando provided us with an enjoyable evening. We began with a wonderful 2014 Far Niente Chardonnay along with smoked salmon and a crisp and fresh wedge salad. The soft shell crabs were perfect! We are from Maryland and know about soft shells! Perfectly prepared. Large, crispy and meaty. My wife had a perfectly done Dover sole with capers. Service well-paced. Bright and happy atmosphere without being overly noisy. Would definitely recommend and return again happily.

This has been a favorite dining experience for my girlfriends and me forever. We have always been treated as if we are so special by the waiters and staff and the food has always been wonderful. We had lunch there last week, the waitress had no idea about any of the wines I asked about. We had to ask her if their were any specials, she did not volunteer the information. She reached across me and put her head between the menu and me to read the wine list, that was quite weird as I had her head in my lap! I love waiters from other countries but I could not even understand her. She was quite unfriendly and there was nothing personal about our experience there. The wait staff would frequently gather in the back speaking Spanish quite loudly and it was distracting. The ambiance just was not the same. The food was good, not great as usual. I have become accustomed to the fine dining experience at this restaurant and that is part of what makes it so fabulous. That was missing and we were so sad. It was so poor that we have all made the decision to find a new favorite place :(

My mother has been coming here since 1985 and wanted to share Cafe Pacific with me. She had the red fish with crab and I had almandine lemon sole with veggies. Our waiter, Mark, has been working there for over 20 years and provided professional service.

Since they changed to the new chef, the food has come back up to standards held for many years. The service has always been some of the best in Dallas. Great people watching spot.

This place is special. Had the opportunity to take my wife and daughter there for a special lunch and had an outstanding meal. The service and food are both outstanding. Unfortunately we heard the restaurant will be closing in a couple of years (I think it has something to do with the lease) so make sure you visit while it's still here!

I made a brunch reservation through Open Table a month in advance asking for a nice table for a ladies Valentine celebration for my granddaughter. I also called to the restaurant a day later to confirm they had received the reservation and to request a round table because I knew we would have some Valentine gifts in her honor. However, when we got there at 11:00 a.m., only one party was seated in the restaurant, and yet we were placed at a crowded rectangular table very close to other tables; I could not even push my chair back to go to the restroom once someone was seated behind me because the chairs were so close. I can't imagine there was a worse table for six in the restaurant. And in fact, there was a spacious circular table as I had requested open when we arrived, but the hostesses refused to seat us there and gave me stammered excuses that the round table was reserved. I really doubt someone called in earlier than a month in advance for a brunch reservation, but the hostesses just said they "couldn't do anything" to assist me or find any other options even though the restaurant was virtually vacant. They didn't even offer another rectangular table that was wide open and at least was not backed up to other diners. The round table I had requested also sat vacant for well over an hour while we were there. Ultimately it was filled with some Highland Park residents who must have known the magic handshake. The better rectangular table was also filled by people familiar with the waiters.. The brunch menu was good and the food was fine, but it didn't overcome my dissatisfaction at not having a reservation honored and being given excuses rather than solutions. I guess money imported to the restaurant from far north Dallas has a different value than if you reside close to the restaurant. The "warm greeting" that another TA reviewer referenced was sure missing when we arrived. I'm sure our business won't be missed.

Great food and service. long a staple of fine dining in Dallas. even the wait staff have been there so long they know the customers by name~

5 Stars restaurant in the DFW METROPLEX. From the time you walk in all the attention is on you and throughout your entire stay. The cuisine is exquisite and an overall pleasant atmosphere.

This is where ladies lunch - and the menu is very old school. Great seafood salad, cobb salad, that sort of thing. Impeccable service and great ambiance. Friendly staff and upscale shopping in the center. This appears to be the Beverly Hills of Dallas.

When in Dallas I always eat there. My local friends always recommend Cafe Pacific. Located in one of the oldest and most beautiful shopping centers in US, a gem worth seeing. Excellent for a business evening or lunch. Dress up. At least smart casual. I would describe it as American with a touch of Paris. The atmosphere is sophisticated but not overdone. First, the staff is first class. Second, The food is well prepared with good choices of fish and meat. As I said at touch of Europe in the food and atmosphere. There is a good wine list. All done very well. Probably not a great place for small children.

My visit was a business dinner, but this would be a great spot for a date night. From the moment that you walk through the door until your departure, the service is outstanding. I asked our server for recommendations and he suggested a couple of items. I started with the butter lettuce salad with blue cheese and dates. It was lightly dressed and the flavors were a delicious combination. For my entree, I chose the Sole Almandine. The sole was cooked to perfection and served with crisp, tender vegetables. Be sure to leave room for desert! I would highly recommend the lavender creme brûlée. There is an extensive and excellent wine list to compliment the menu. I can't wait for my next business trip to Dallas!

Husband and I went for my birthday. Had to take an early reservation as we waited too long to make a reservation. Very pretty restaurant. Older clientele at the early hour. Cocktails adequate, very nice wine list. Fish cooked perfectly which not many places seem to be able to do in Dallas. Vegetables crisp and fresh. Triple chocolate mousse cake more of a mousse with tiny nuts. Delicious and not too heavy for one person but don't expect a cake. Husband lived blueberry pie but it had strong Lemmon flavor which I did not like. Sole piccata was a very large portion and I had to take some home. Very good servers. Fun to walk around the upscale shopping center.

Used to come here with my mother, it was her favorite. It's been some time, but I saw it still got good reviews so I returned with my husband. We both loved it. The restaurant looks exactly the same, which was a comfort to me. It's so classic it'll never go out of style and I was delighted to see it. Service was extremely attentive and friendly. The shared raw oysters and I had the seafood crepes, which were very very good. Wine selection is fine, though the waiter recommended the wine for us. Their famous pecan dessert was also very delicious. Delighted to return and enjoyed it very much.

This was our second time to visit, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time around. Fried sweeet potato straws are brought to the table, along with the obligatory bread. The sweet potato straws will make you forget the bread, and if you're not careful, your meal. For this night, we grabbed a crab cake to start, which we believe is one of the best in Dallas. This was our second time to try it, and it was just as good as we remembered. After, we split a parmesan crusted halibut with roasted tomatoes and wilted spinach. The entree was excellent, and we finisehd up the meal with a slice of their divine carrot cake. All around great, would like to see some more variety (non-California) on their wine list. Affordable whites are Chardonnay heavy, so could use a little mix there since this is a seafood restaurant. Overall great, and we will definitely visit this one again.

Linen table cloths, uniformed wait staff. Highland Park vibe. And overpriced. But this is "the" place to be seen by other Parkies -- kind of like a local country club without the golf course. The food was good, not great. The cocktails were well crafted. The wine list (by the bottle or glass) offered some nice options, although all very pricey. Went with a group and had a nice time, but the wait person was not fully trained. Dribbled cocktails over people and table linens with nothing more to say than "oops." A small serving of farmed salmon for $42 was unexciting. The crab louie salad was on chunks of iceberg, with no dressing. Lots of crab but pretty boring otherwise. And parking is a disaster in this area. Uber in (or come early). Reservations pretty much required. Not my choice, and not someplace I would choose to come back to.

I'm glad I didn't read all of the reviews before we had lunch at Cafe Pacific or I may have felt a bit intimidated. Happily, I knew that this was a great place to eat, with lots of atmosphere and go dressy. (The website lists the dress code.) We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was fun to get all dressed up and go out for lunch at a really fancy place while we were in Dallas. We were celebrating our anniversary and we were not disappointed. Honestly, it is nice to have a nice restaurant where you can go and enjoy a table conversation while being served good food. We were not rushed at all. We walked in and were greeted by our hostess and immediately seated. Our hostess did offer us black napkins instead of white, and I loved having that consideration paid to us. The tables are very close together, so it is a bit "cozy, but not uncomfortable. The prices were very reasonable, considering the ambiance and everything. We split a salad, and that helped with how much we wanted to eat. The entrees were good and well proportioned, too. We were told before we went to the restaurant how good the dessert was, so we did save room and enjoyed sharing one order of the pecan ball. It was plenty! If you have a nice occasion to celebrate, I recommend considering Cafe Pacific. We booked reservations online through a very well known restaurant reservations website and fortunately my husband called to confirm the reservation. They didn't have it. But it all worked out because we moved the time up by 1/2 hour and they had seating at that time.

We eat here with friends at least annually and are never disappointed. The food, service, bar, wine list are always top notch. This is a well established restaurant in an upscale location. It is always a treat to dine here and the prices, while on the higher side are well worth it!

Came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday night and was impressed that you can still find old school fine dining in the Dallas area. Simple, elegant, and classy all around. We split a crab cake, which is one of the best we've had in a long while, then moved on to the crab leg special, which was plenty for two when we added a side of Brussels sprouts. Nice wine list, primarily California, and great dessert.

From the complimentary shoestring sweet potatoes on the table to the well-prepared seafood, this is always one of our go-to restaurants. It is consistently good. We were worried when the long-time management changed, but the quality is still there. This is in the most upscale small shopping village in Highland Park, which is a well-heeled city surrounded by Dallas and the clientele is usually more mature. Service is the old style and tablecloths are white.

Great place to spend a Friday on a patio! The food, bar selection and service are above any expectation. I highly recommend this crown jewel.

Finally going out to dinner, had a very good experience at Cafe Pacific seating outside was delightful on a beautiful evening, service was very good worth mentioning was the excellent Pepper Steak was cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing

What a great choice for A Birthday with Family!! The seafood entree's were out of this world....save room for the famous pecan dessert. Service was Excellent too!!

We started going to Cafe Pacific when our children went to SMU nearly 30 years ago !! In today's age almost everything has changed and many times for the worse.......... NOT Cafe Pacific. The ambiance, quality of food, wait staff etc. continue to be outstanding and, I might add, very reasonable pricing. I had a terrific lunch on a recent trip to Dallas. The shoestring sweet potato fries just are beyond comparison. I ordered the crispy baja style Fish Tacos. A very generous portion with a great taste. My companion raved about the "short smoked salmon". Cafe Pacific Is A Gem That Continues To Glitter....soooo unique today

Outstanding food, as usual. We had Porcini Soup followed by butter-poached oysters to start. I had the bacon-wrapped pork loin on a bed of Spinach and my companion had the Red Mullet on a bed of saffron risotto. We drank an excellent 2012 Russian River Pinot Noir with our dinner. For dessert we had the chocolate Mousse Cake and the Blood Orange Cheesecake. Wonderful meal as usual. Ask to be seated in Peter's section--he's the best. Kudos to the chef.

Beautiful place, impeccable service. Wonderful food We chose creamed spinach with artichokes as a starter and then shrimp cocktail, salads. All wonderful

Went this mainstay restaurant in Dallas for the first time a friend of mine highly recommend it. Indeed it's a classy place with a very well deserved reputation. I sat at the bar and had their restaurant week menu which was attractive and a good value. I would have given 5 stars except that the Dover sole was too salty almos wanted to send it back. The lobster ceviche was very good. The most outstanding part of the experience was the EXCELENT service provided by the bartender Dave and the help that assisted him.

In the iconic Highland Park Village, the ambiance and service of this place are tough to beat. Parking can be a fight but once in the doors, the game changes. A menu that leans towards healthy eating includes fantastic entree salads of various seafood (the salmon salad was excellent) as well as fresh made soups. You can definitely stick to a diet here. I'll be back.

My husband and I went for our Anniversary over the weekend. The atmosphere and service were very nice. However, the food was lacking. The break wasn't fresh, tasted like rolls from the grocery store. I ordered the most expensive fish dish and it had a sauce that was exactly like one I purchase at the store and my pie crust was a bit soggy. So even tho the ambience was first rate, the food didn't match.

Our favorite restaurant for years in Highland Park Village, where Dallas high society meets top quality food served by a highly professional waitstaff, Café Pacific was a home run on a special occasion. We shared chef’s Wagyu tartar, complemented by a bottle of Rombauer chardonnay – both delicious. The prime New York strip, with a side of foraged mushrooms, melted in my mouth. My wife loved the sea bass and our son the lobster risotto – both very generous portion size. The pecan ball dessert rounded out another outstanding dinner at Café Pacific. Looking forward to our next outstanding dining experience.

The Cafe Pacific came highly recommended, but I guess things have changed. Went there for lunch. Service ok, but not great. Food not as good as I thought. I ordered a $17.95 Classic Lobster Roll - total waste of money. $17.95 and 3 bites it was gone. Lobster salad tasted like it came from the grocery store. My friend had the Sea Bass special of the day - toooo expensive and nothing special. I guess they only have business because they give the right atmosphere to the rich and wanna be rich. The food certainly is not worth the money.

Recommended by our hotel for first time visitors from overseas to Dallas the restaurant actually lived up to the hype of our concierge. We wanted fish for most of the party and there were great selections but sufficient alternatives to satisfy all. We were warned that it was a bit more dressy than alternatives and higher priced. Both warnings are true but the food and service justifies the price and the relaxed semi-formal dress codes added to our dining experience. The tables are fairly close so I would be careful about what intimacies you discussed in a loud voice. The staff were very helpful in helping us come to grips with the menu, wine list and cocktails. They mix a good vodka gimlet.

What a nice way to spend a long lunch! I highly recommend the seafood salad. The lump crab on top did not disappoint!! My husband had the lobster roll and really enjoyed it. Excellent service all the way around. This is a "dressy" lunch establishment that lends to the charm and atmosphere of days gone by in Paris from the marble floor to the stunning grand flower arrangement in the center of the restaurant it's a place for friends and our business lunch. We will return when we visit Dallas again.

The restaurant is lovely - beautiful, elegant and romantic. Our server, Peter, was wonderful - very attentive. The oysters Rockefeller and the New England Clam Chowder were absolutely delicious. My husband had the Arctic Char and was disappointed because it was fairly bland and not quite up to par. I had the duck and it was quite tough. Our entrees were not bad, but a little disappointing. Its a charming restaurant and we will be back.

My wife and I love Cafe Pacific. She had the Dover Sole and I the Sea Bass. They were both done to perfection and devoured with a bottle of Peter Michael Sauvignon Blanc. And of course we topped the dinner off with a "Pecan Ball" for desert.

The ambiance is very nice. The staff was attentive and polite. The sweet potato shoestring fries that they serve complementary before the meal are addictive! I had the scallops and they were excellent. My husband had the fish special and loved it. Nice wine selection. I would recomend for a special occation or just a quiet great meal.

Cafe Pacific is one of the finest , classic dining experiences in Highland Park Village and in all of Dallas. The restaurant I would say is "Old School" in a great way. Pretty tables and atmosphere, socialite crowds and excellent menu with service to match! Lovely!

We went there a couple weeks prior and the lunch was great especially sea bass Good friendly service Dinner was just no fun service was like everyone wanted to go home oysters not fresh and out of two wines we wanted Amazing difference from lunch to dinner experience

Great high end restaurant. One of the best in Dallas. Locals dine here often. The patio is great for all occasions. We love just stopping in for a bottle of bubbly. Wine list is great also. The staff are all long timers. Everyone knows everyone.

I had very high expectations about this restaurant but was underwhelmed by the dining experience. The ambience is nice but noisey. It would be enhanced by dimming the lights and adding soft music. The waiting staff was distracted by other patrons that were being pampered. The best part of the dining experience was the beginning and the end of the meal. The sweet potato fries are excellent and plentiful. There are multiple choices for appetizers and salads. The crab remoulade was beautifully presented and flavorful. There is a fantastic pecan ball with ice cream that was a delicious way to end the meal and was easily shared by a table of four. Unfortunately the entrees were less than impressive. There was a long wait between the appetizer and the main course that seem to correlate with our waiters loss of attention to our table. The red snapper and Dover sole entrees were lukewarm and did not impress with presentation or flavor. This might have been the busy Saturday night glitch but vey disappointing none the less.

delicious food, fabulous service, nice area! a bit pricey. we split a mixed greens salad- yum. and got gnocchi and redfish dishes, fabulous. be sure to dress accordingly or you'll feel underdressed.

Consistent, consistent, consistent is the best way to describe the food and service at CP. The long-time accommodating staff and the well-prepared cuisine has been the cornerstones of this remarkable restaurant. Perhaps that it is a single-location restaurant allows it to preserve and maintain its wonderful ambience Bon appetit! Larry

Excellent presentation and service. Food was a delicious treat to my pallet! However, be ready to swat flies if you're seated outside.

You might have to wait for your table, despite a reservation and it can be a tad slow for service. Blame it on the packed crowds enjoying some of the best food in Dallas. This is a haunt of the monied crowd, both the old school and the newly minted......they flock to this Highland Park eatery for world class food. My wife, who is sometimes a bit hard to impress, declared her halibut last night as "the best she ever had" and that's high praise. My top sirloin and lobster was perfectly cooked, the steak melted in your mouth. Keep a little room for fantastic deserts...... This is a "can't miss" stop for serious foodies.

Another great meal at this well established watering hole. Great place for catching a glimpse of some of the local celebs as well. While the menu isn't necessarily the most innovative in Dallas it is solid! Wish they'd try an experimental dish once in awhile. The very experienced staff is absolutely excellent and never miss a beat. and, you can always depend on the waitstaff's recommendation.

Classy and elegant, this place has a good variety of food with and excellent standard. We went for the chef’s special and were remarkable, particularly the short rib. Wine list is not big but with some good choices. Service is experienced and friendly.

Just what you'd expect from "genteel" dining: beautifully appointed, the "right" menu, service that is "always there", food consistently good, &, naturally, frequented by the "beautiful"-gang. Question is, for a very expensive dining experience - where's the "soul"??? Is there any area that distinguishes Cafe Pacific??? Any fun/enjoyment to be had ... Other than "being seen"??? I think not. Personally, in the same rarified-atmosphere of Highland Park Village, I prefer Patrizios ... At least it's interesting and even the young-lions and peacocks hoping to be seen are having some fun, are engaged, and are at least mildly interesting - compared to Maven Central, aka Cafe Pacific. If there's such a thing as the stereo-typical franchised "oh ma' Gawd"-beautiful people place, it's Cafe Pacific. You can do better; far better. On the other hand, their, unadvertised - for sure, "take-out" is great ... Excellent chow without the "pomp & circumstance". Go figure.

Cafe Pacific is one of those places that is just timeless and classy, but not stuffy. The four of us were all delighted with four different meals - Sea Bass, 8 oz Filet, Red Snapper and the large Crab Meat appetizer along with roasted brussels sprouts and broccoli. We shared tastes and all of us raved about the food. We ended the meal sharing a Pecan Ball - Wow! an amazing way to finish a great meal. As good as the food was ... the service was the best we have ever experienced. Christian was our waiter and the service was perfect. Very efficient, but not rushed at all. Friendly, professional, capable and appropriate. Will definitely go back again and again. A must try!

We were a group of 9 here to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. Everything was excellent from the food to the service. Three ordered the steak and eggs and raved about them.

Went here for Restaurant Week, had high expectations, given the reviews, and that it was almost at capacity on a Sunday night. It was a disappointment. My wife's marinated shrimp was two small shrimp and my corn and lobster bisque was slanted more towards corn than lobster, although reasonably tasty. My wife's lemon sole amandine was ok, and my seared flank steak was rather tough. Best part of the meal was Classic Pecan Ball for my wife, my crème brulee was a reminder of the old joke that it's just burnt pudding. Service was fairly good, but perhaps a bit too attentive, it's an art for a server to be attentive rather than intrusive. My overall rating is that the place is OK, but with a couple of glasses of good wine, the tab came to just over $150, and for that price I expect better than just average.

This place was simply wonderful! Absolutely delicious for a quiet upscale meal ($$$). Called for a reservation and was able to get in last minute. My wife had salmon which was perfectly grilled and I ordered the scallops over risotto - also great. Our waiter, Fernando was a real pro and helped us select our best choices. The atmosphere was tasteful and quiet - so different from the outdoor bar next door which was packed and noisy. Afterward we were able to stroll by the many shops in the area, which, by the way is very upscale and interesting. Will definitely visit again next time in Dallas.

We're not fine dining people. Cracker Barrel and Longhorns Steakhouse are fine by me. But I saw the Pecan Ball on The Best Thing I Ever Ate and told my wife the next time we are in Dallas we are checking it out. So after a drive from Louisiana we went straight to the restaurant. I've heard about the dress code, but I was wearing jeans and a cotton flannel shirt and the host at the door couldn't have been friendlier, as was our waiter from Budapest. Very nice man. We were treated like every other customer including the lady at the next table in a fur coat. After very nice entrees, the Pecan Ball came out. If you don't know, it's a ball of ice cream covered in pecans and an excellent chocolate sauce. I enjoyed it but it wasn't the best thing I ever ate. I think that show is paid to promote certain restaurants and menu items, how about you.

Great selection of options from fish to steaks. Nice 1st courses. The wedge salad was great. Great server.

Disappointing. Cafe Pacific was our favorite restaurant for many years, but I don't think we will go back or recommend it to friends. Three of us ordered the sole and I ordered the Three Onion Crusted Sea Bass, which is my favorite. All arrived luke warm, as if they had been taken out of the freezer and barely heated in the microwave. The sea bass was thick and without flavor. One of our guests had to send her sole back because it was off. A very embarrasing experience since we have raved about the restaurant to our friends.

Excellent service, amazing food, the ambience is nice and crowd is in average 40 year old and above. It's great for a fancy date might. Have to try the Pecan ball for dessert, it's AMAZING

Today I took my wife to lunch here to celebrate her birthday. A Dallas and HP native, she picked CP, which we do not go to very much. It is a wonderfully appointed room, with white tablecloths and attentive, very well-trained staff. Although it is a place with a long history, it does not feel like an old and stuffy place. The one exception is the clientele--it is hardly youthful. I am the father of adults and I still feel like a kid there. That being said, it is a local institution, and every time I have been there I have seen somebody I know. Tables are close, but not uncomfortable, and the very high ceilings help reduce the noise levels. There are numerous small touches (black napkins appear unbidden, crunchy and hot shoestring sweet potatoes, warm bread with unsalted butter). The food is consistent and excellent, and there has even been some freshening of the menu. For lunch, I recommend the "half and half" plates, with nice sized portions of two dishes off the menu. I had the clam chowder and chopped seafood salad. The chowder was nicely thick, with big chunks of clam, while the seafood salad was well dressed, and had multiple large shrimp. My wife had the trout, which was also very tasty. While this can be an expensive place, the half and half items are reasonably priced. They were also very kind to comp us with a pecan ball for dessert (with its great chocolate). Again, service was solicitous, but not overbearing, and the maitre d' came by multiple times to see how we were doing. This remains a great spot for special occasions.

Three of us had a business meeting on a Monday night. When many restaurants in Dallas are closed, this hallowed hall was busy and a great choice. Fantastic service with a waiter with an amazing personality, delicious steak, salmon, salads, and their world-famous french fries and sweet potato fillings. Excellent desert choices and a great upscale (but NOT stuffy) atmosphere.

After five years ago, our last visit for dinner, my husband and I decided to dine for my Birthday celebration last evening 2/9/2017 and give them another opportunity to see if they had improved. It was a disaster. The experience of dinning with Café Pacific was just shocking. After my husband made reservations with the General manager explaining it was my Birthday and were giving them another chance to make it a very nice dinner experience. The manager and staff did greet us pleasantly and had a very nice table waiting for us. Our waiter was very good. However, then it went just unbelievably, crazy wrong. I ordered a beef filet steak well done with a little pink inside saying please do not over cook to black or charcoal suggested might want to filet the piece before grilling. My husband ordered Fish filet and side of cream spinach. The chief burnt my steak and had to send it back it was delivered to me charcoaled black and completely burnt should never have been delivered to me. Sent it back while the waiter was still putting my husbands plate down in front of him . Waiter did apologize and said it was very burnt. Waited a very long time to receive the second steak. Told my Husband to please start eating he was well over half way finished when my second steak was brought out to me. This was just beyond believing and my husband and I were stunned. This steak fillet was just as charcoaled black burned. As the general manager placed it in front of me he was apologizing for now truly insulting me by presenting with this terrible slap in the face by their chief. We stand up for ourselves, but were both just shocked at what was taking place. This was done as retaliation by the chief or owner and very mean spirited as I can ever remember being treated at any restaurant ever from New York, L A, Chicago, to London and Frankfurt. Third time ordered the filet of fish my husband had ordered. Jim sat their very up set with Café Pacific and we decided in such a small packed in closely seating area not to make a scene which was just shocking treatment. The fish on the third attempt was fine and only ate half. If you can believe the did not offer any comp and charged full amount for everything except their two attempts to prepare a steak filet. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT VERY MEAN SPIRITED FOR NO REASON RUINED MY BIRTHDAY

This is an up-scale restaurant in uptown Dallas. Valet parking. Great ambiance (but not quiet). Service is pretty good. The menu has a decent but not exhaustive collection. I had the almond crusted cole (a fish I had never heart of and had to google an image on my phone before ordering). It was done to perfection and I savored every last bite. The sitting area is a bit small and can get crowded. I'm not a "personal space" person so had no issues with it but if you prefer your space and your quiet, then think twice.

We went for my father's birthday celebration for lunch recently. We started going in the 80's when I went to SMU along with my brother and sister and our parents always made a point of making a night for Cafe Pacific when they would visit from Illinois. We still go for lunch or dinner to this day on trips there to visit family!! Old world Highland Park clientele and yet not stuffy. Great bar and staff friendly and loved sitting by the window.

The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The service provided by the management and by the professional waiter, Walter, is one of the main reasons that we keep coming back to Café Pacific. His old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value his Focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend Café Pacific

Outstanding dinner. From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIPs and we aren’t even from around here. They are so good at warm hospitality, yet upscale elegance, it’s kind of an amazing mix. The wait staff is excellent, there when you need them, invisible when you don’t. Drinks arrived promptly after ordering,,,such a nice change from other places where you have to wait half an hour for a glass of wine. Dinner was delicious we had sea bass and halibut. Get the halibut,,,,it’s so good! But best of all was the signature dessert. Most amazing ice cream dessert I’ve ever had. Save room and treat yourself.

Never disappointed. love this place. from the bartender to the darling waiters. Friendly. beautiful. exact opposite of Honor bar. go here and forget about the honor bar. Its prices are similar to Cafe' Pacific but the food is a hundred times better. great bartenders. Always accommodating.

Beautiful setting, good food and exceptional service. Menu had a nice balance of options. I choose from the January Chefs Menu. The Duck was delicious. A great place for a business dinner or a special occasion. Prices prohibit frequent visits.

We made reservations based on several local close friends recommendation. We were quite excited to try it and were expecting this restaurant to be the highlight of our trip. After a long day visiting TCU and SMU, we were really looking forward to enjoying this restaurant. As soon as we walked in, we felt like the spot lights were all on us - the hostess, the manager and some of the waiting crew. No one would stop staring at us and we felt very uncomfortable. We knew that the restaurant was dressy and we were well prepared for it. After we were seated, out waitress came over and gave us a very cold introduction. Since we needed a bit of time to go over the menu, she gave us a stare down and never returned to our table, while still taking care of the neighboring 60+ old tables. Eventually, another waiter had to step in and took over our table. Quite funny, at times irreverent, but certainly it could only improve after the initial interaction with the first waitress after which, in all honesty, we should have stepped up and left. Only reason I did not do it, was not to embarrass my daughters. As a business owner, I know that customer service is of upmost importance and this restaurant has certainly not given their employees the 101 of it. The food was just OK. Ceviche with no flavor at all, salmon that you could have anywhere else for half the price. My advice on dining at Cafe Pacific, tons of much better places in Dallas that will be worth your time and money. This ... a total waste. Other places will welcome your hard earned dollars with open arms and no judgement.

Truly outstanding, time tested restaurant. Great waiter, exceptional old-school atmosphere, and superb quality seafood. Oysters were very fresh as was all of the seafood we were served. I really miss restaurants of this quality, civility, and professional-level of service!

I was greeted right away when I came in and they found had my table reservation right away. This is a mostly seafood place with calming and pleasant decor. Seemed like wealthier ladies com here for chatting during brunch hour. The waiter was very attentive with a good personality. I didn't even eat my salad as it was SO covered in salad dressing. The people I was with seemed to enjoy their meal.It was about $ 70 or so for three people including the tip. The restaurant was clean inside and they had a very nice large wine list to choose from and a decently sized menu with a good selection to choose from

Hotel recommended and it was fantastic. The service, food and atmosphere were great. Wedge salad was one of the best I've ever had. The trout was great and my wife loved the salmon. Rarely do restaurants live up to the hype, but this one certainly did.

If you are looking for an excellent seafood restaurant in Dallas, you will not be disappointed in this restaurant. It has an excellent menu with many tempting choices. It is a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. Check their menu online so you can review the menu selections and prices.

I've dined at this Dallas landmark for years and it is always the same. If you want stellar service, high end fare, and a wonderful dinner spent with your loved ones then Cafe Pacific is your place. When I was in my twenties I was intimidated by a place where jackets were required. Now that I'm 40 I miss the formality. People don't get dressed up anymore to go out to a special dinner. But whether I'm getting older or the dress code is getting more lax doesn't matter, Cafe Pacific just stays the same.

Cafe Pacific has been around "forever," and there is a reason for that. It continues to serve excellent food with attentive service in a classy dining room. Resisting the terrible Dallas dining scene trend of pumping loud music into a hip setting, Cafe Pacific remains a quiet, white table cloth venue with numerous waiters in white jackets floating in and out, addressing your every need. The food is pricey, but good. Our escargot starter was yummy. My wife had the scallops. I had the lobster tail, which was enormous. Both mains were quite good. A comped dessert was provided when they found out it was my wife's birthday. My only criticism is that the wine list is short for a restaurant of this caliber. There are wines at every price point available, but just not a lot of variety. Still, if you want an excellent meal in a venue that allows you to talk across the table without shouting, go Pacific.

This evening our daughter and son-in-law dined at Cafe Pacific, celebrating their wedding anniversary. As a gift we made reservations for them, and spoke twice with the staff earlier in the day orchestrating a few special requests. Two glasses of champagne upon arrival, wishing them “happy anniversary” and insuring that their famous pecan ball was also automatically presented for dessert. Unfortunately, none of these requests took place. Disappointed with the lack of attention to details, and follow through.

My wife and I went here for Valentine’s Day lunch. This upscale (that means a little pricey, even at lunch) restaurant is located in Highland Park Village shopping district. The staff and service was friendly and efficient. My wife ordered the Peppercorn Steak and I ordered the Lobster Roll. The Peppercorn Steak was perfectly flavored, but a little undercooked (medium rare) for her medium-ordered preference. The Lobster Roll was delicious. The roll was soft and slightly crispy with an amazing lemon butter sauce. One of the best I’ve ever had. It is a small sandwich for the cost ($19), so be forewarned. We did have the fried calamari as an appetizer. I would highly recommend this for anyone dining here. Parking can be a little problematic during peak dining hours, but there is valet across the street. Good restaurant, in a great location.

This place never disappoints. The service and food are consistently outstanding. Great place for birthday lunches. The vanilla ice cream ball rolled in pecans is fabulous and enough for 4 to share. It’s my favorite lunch place.

Lunch is still one of the best experiences in Dallas . A classic club atmosphere , great waitstaff, professional service. Food is traditional ,expertly prepared. No over the top chief food that does not work just to show off.Price is very fair for the food and service. I would rate this in my top ten in Dallas for sure.

Went with a large group (20 of us) for dinner on a Saturday night. Our table was ready and waiting at our reserved time(doesn't always happen these days). The staff that waited on us, it was a team effort for sure, was very attentive and patient with the demands of a group our size. The wine, the food, the setting was outstanding. Didn't hear one complaint from anyone...now that's saying something!

I had not been here in a couple of years and my husband wanted to have fish for dinner, so we headed for Café Pacific. He had never eaten there and he loved it. Peter was our server and he was perfect. I like it that they have their standard great dishes and offer specials each month on the left side of the menu. My husband had the grouper from the March special and he enjoyed every morsel. He had the potato soup and I had the great clam chowder. These come in cup sizes. Then I had to have the legendary onion crusted sea bass. The best in town! So flaky! The portion is large so I took half home and will have a wonderful lunch today!

Although the place was packed and it benefits from a perfect location in hpv, it doesn’t compare to the newer more innovative restaurants in town. The service is mediocre and food merely decent. Those two things are easy to fix. Paper staples together menus and a tiny wine list just don’t seem to fit either.

This is one of the better restaurants in Dallas Texas. Although it is been around for 30+ years is still an excellent choice for seafood and/or stakes etc. Although the restaurant is well appointed, it This unpretentious and a setting that one can feel quite relaxed and while enjoying fine dining. In addition, it has a very good wine list and an above average bar. It is an excellent choice for lunch or dinner, as well as it serves brunch on Sunday. I would recommend it without reservation.

This is a great place for ladies to lunch! Quiet, cozy atmosphere, outstanding service and seafood is divine!

Everyone already knows that this is one of the finest restaurants in Dallas. The key is not only incredible seafood, but PROFESSIONAL service! It’s always impeccable here but today they went above and beyond. Thanks to our server Alex!!!

Six friends from out of town dined here last week and it was fabulous. The menu features seafood but also has meat and game. Each of the entrees we had were delicious--all seafood, ranging from soft shell crab to halibut. The setting is very attractive and the service was excellent: informed and friendly.

It's been quite some time since I've been to Cafe Pacific and was curious if it still held up as one of the top restaurants in Dallas. I wasn't disappointed. Peter took care of us from start to finish and did a fantastic job. Overall atmosphere was great, all of the staff was pleasant and welcoming. We had a Bloody Mary to sip on and started with fresh oysters and calamari. Wow, those oysters were better than Boulevardier's raw oysters. I had New England clam chowder which was very nice as was the calamari. I had the crab louie salad which was light, and the crab was fresh and delicious. Everyone in the family loved brunch (including the toddlers), but it seemed the Hollandaise on the classic benedict was a big hit. Overall it was a wonderful Mother's Day brunch, and I hope to visit again soon for dinner next time.

We haven’t frequented the restaurant for quite a while. Today’s return didn’t disappoint. Great menu, excellent food preparation, good and reasonable wines, and friendly and capable staff. The restaurant appears to thrive on consistency.

I like a restaurant that beats expectations. Great food, amazing service. Spacious and quiet. The brunch was really good. Cobb salad great, the pacific burger was really great, top quality meat and a bargain at $15. Only failure was the cappuccino - but then you shouldn't be drinking cappuccino after 10am should you.

The location of this restaurant is in the lovely Highland Park Village. A great place to see expensive cars and expensive people. Cafe Pacific is a hidden gem and well worth the visit to impress for business or enjoy for pleasure. The service is top notch with knowledgeable wait staff ready to answer any question, top off your glass or bring you more fresh bread. The food is excellent. We all loved what we ordered and left satiated. The lobster roll could have been bigger but it was still filling. They have a dress code; so no flip flops or t-shirts but it helps to maintain their high end image and you should be happy to wear nicer clothes (casual or otherwise) for a high end place. Go for business, go for friends and/or family. In the end; just go. You won't regret it.

To criticize this marvelous institution is to show your ignorance of reality. It is , as always, a monolith of what is constant and best.

Since this was my first visit, I took advantage of 'Restaurant Week' to get acquainted with Cafe Pacific. My first impression, after walking through the door and being greeted by a friendly Maitre'D, was the 'fine dining' atmosphere: tables covered with white linen; fresh roses on the tables; and no tables cluttered with dirty dishes from exited customers. It was also great to see the customers dressed in other than the casual blue jeans and shorts. We were immediately seated and approached by a friendly waiter, Stephen. Service was top notch and the food was superb. Prices are a bit steep, but well worth the dining experience.

The restaurant has an ambiance that resembles a classic fine dining of New Orleans. Waiters and waitresses are very professional and personable. This was a special occasion for my wife and I and it did not disappoint. The appetizers were a mixed greens with goat cheese and watermelon gazpacho soup. The soup was delicious and very refreshing. My wife had a flat iron steak with chimichurra sauce and I had the chorizo crusted Texas Gulf red snapper. Both dishes were prepared well and tasted wonderful. The meal was capped off with vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and pecans. You can always depend on quality and consistency when dining here.

Terrific seafood. So glad that we dined here. We love calamari, and most of the time it is good, but predictable. Cafe Pacific has large, meaty calamari with Asian sauces on the side. A really good twist on an old favorite. Miso salmon entree was memorable. Trout almandine also wonderful. The decor is modern, clean, with large windows overlooking the lake, and a nice fire pit for outdoor diners. We will return.

Restaurant , food and service are great. it is expensive but you get your moneys worth. Restaurant for upscale North Dallas crowd. Dress well and they will make you feel like a king for a night.

I had lunch at Cafe Pacific on a weekday afternoon. The front desk hostess was gracious, and we were seated at an especially nice table. The woman who waited on us was extremely personable and welcoming, and did an excellent job of describing and "romancing" the lengthy menu. If you can't find something on this menu that appeals to you, you have a problem--it's literally pages long. The dining room is casually elegant, with linen tablecloths and lots of flowers---sort of a vintage country club vibe that blends well with the tony neighborhood. Looking around, you can't help but notice how well dressed the patrons are. From this New York visitor's standpoint, this seems like the place to see and be seen in Dallas. The food was good enough, but not stellar in either taste or presentation. I had the half order seafood salad, and half order of sea bass (the lunch special, which was substantial) and we shared a pecan ball for dessert. Since the experience was so pleasant, I would go again. We were not rushed, and totally enjoyed the atmosphere and wait staff.

I absolutely love this place, I go often and every time I have the same great experience, the food is extraordinary, every dish is just delicious. The service is great, they really take care of you and make sure you have everything, even tiny details. I also love the decoration, it has a feeling of being in Paris. This restaurant it's definitely my favorite in Dallas.

We were greeted with an overwhelming smell of fish. After a few minutes you can't smell it anymore. The food was ok but expensive. $22 for a plate of shrimp(4) and grits. The hamburger was just a burger and the eggs Benedict were nothing special. The waiter did keep my water glass full.Atmosphere is nice but the tables are to close for privacy. The more I write the less I like so I'll stop.

This was a business dinner and was expecting to be taken to a steakhouse since I am from out of town. Was not expecting much from a seafood restaurant in Dallas. Everything from the shoe string sweet potatoes on the table for nibbling to the desserts was fantastic. I think what really made it great was our waiter Reuben, who made recommendations without trying to upsell us, joked with the table and provided outstanding service. Most of us had a salad and the sea bass was amazing. The chocolate chip cookies for dessert were perfect for the table to share along with the ice cream pecan ball. The berries came in a lovely edible nut lace serving dish

We went here for a birthday celebration after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We enjoyed great company, but unfortunately, were underwhelmed by the food. We were specifically looking for excellent seafood; we had the ceviche, king crab salad, and trout. The quality of the ingredients were good, but every dish lacked flavor.

We have been patrons at least once month for years! Went to dinner. Wasn’t allowed inside Becz Shap had shorts on. We were put on the patio. As Shap was leaving the bathroom a woman had her shorts on. Also we know many people that visit cafe pacific. Lucas our waiter was great! But I think something was missing with the manager!

My Fiancé and I have been here multiple times and it's always a pleasure to come back, not only is the ambiance of this restaurant beautiful and elegant but the food never disappoints it's always beyond expectations. However; the last time I wrote a review was when Walter was our server. Walter was terrific and made the night very special. Last night we were back and it was another fantastic dinner experience at Café Pacific it started with amazing service throughout by Alex, although he said he was a new server he was very knowledgeable and had amazing attention to every detail. I decided to cheat on my diet after my dinner and had the pecan ball, wow wow wow that was sinfully good, I highly recommend it, overall I recommend this place for any occasion as it is a Grade A restaurant.

Everything about Cafe Pacific is perfect. The food, the ambiance and the service. This is our "must go to" place everytime we're in Dallas. Fist of all, the seafood is over the top good here. We've tried something new every time we've come and everything we've had has been outstanding. This time we had the recommended fresh caught Copper River Salmon and it was to die for, along with the mushroom risotto (I highly recommend) and sauteed spinach (also fantastic) Everything was exquisitely prepared and extremely tasty. We've never had a bad server here, but Mike made our evening even better. He was helpful, attentive and you could tell he loved working there. The ambience also makes the experience better. It's small, comfortable, cozy and perfect for a special occasion. It's located in Highland Park, a very high end shopping area, so go early and enjoy a stroll beforehand. They have complimentary valet parking so you don't even have to worry about finding a spot. I cannot say enough good things about Cafe Pacific.

Lovely restaurant, prompt service. I had a huge Caesar Salad, with delicious blackened shrimp, which I couldn't even finish, although I was not short of helpers. Others had the clam chowder and fish tacos, which were greatly enjoyed. Good experience.

I have been to Cafe Pacific a few times over the past few years. Some of the waiters are attentive and provide excellent service. Others are quite snooty, and look down their nose. As far as the menu goes, the fish is always quite divine, but it is also pricy. Im not inclined for this to be my "goto" place. I like consistent service, and a smile or two goes a long way.

Cafe Pacific always delivers great food. Never disappointed. Love the salads and soup at lunch. Chinese chicken salad still my FAV

This is an upscale restaurant with excellent food and service in Highland Park Village that has become our favorite. The crab cake and almond crusted fish are among my favorites but all is delicious and served as if it was prepared and planned only for you.

It has been many years since we have dined at this restaurant. So we were super excited to make reservations and have a chance to go back after such a long time. This used to be an upbeat and fun, fine dining experience. A hustle and bustle, busy restaurant no matter what night you chose to dine there. The waitstaff made you feel welcomed and appreciated. But NOT anymore. Our reservation was during the week after work - not on a weekend. So I was expecting a fairly busy restaurant like I had remembered. Not only was the dining room not even half full, the decor had aged at least 20 years and the atomosphere felt more like a retirement home dining room than a fine dining establishment. Waitstaff - not top notch like years ago. Food was average - not great like we remembered it to be. And to make things even worse, one person in our group became stomach ill later that night. Sad to say, "Thanks for the Memories", but we won't be back!

We had reservations at 7:30 for 6 and finally got seated at 9:00. The place was packed. I ordered a dozen oysters and they were so small. Not worth the money. The lemon sole was outstanding. The service was great. I used to go to this restaurant several times a year and loved it. I’m sure the fact that our reservations were ignored played a huge part in my disappointment.

Invited to join another couple who come here often, I was very impressed by both the sophisticated menu and the effortless service. I'm told it's a favorite of the Dallas elite and certainly feels like it. With that said, the value was excellent. I'll be back.

We had a delightful dinner a few days before Christmas. Excellent service, Christmas decor, lovely lighting. Cuisine not astounding - just reliably good food in a traditional and warm atmosphere. We love this place.

Set in the exclusive Highland Park Village, this long time bastion of superb seafood never disappoints. The setting is traditional wood and brass but the service is not pompous or off-putting. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and highly experienced. For appetizers try the ceviche, or the crab or the oysters Rockefeller. They are all superb. For an entrée it is impossible to surpass the Dover Sole Almondine. The wine list ranges from the very reasonable $35-45 per bottle to the very, very expensive. Wines are also available by the glass. The best seafood in Dallas.

great special occasion place always have a good time here. got the pepper steak (medium) and the salmon (also medium). bomb

Great seafood restaurant serving nice takes on fresh fish in the Highland Park Village shopping center. A great option for celebrating a special occasion or just a nice meal. Good wine list and excellent dessert options.

Had a lovely afternoon at Cafe Pacific. Starting with the hostess Emory. Our table was lovely...One of our group is in a wheelchair. They could not have been more helpful. Food delicious. Wait help excellent

Flew in to Dallas and looking for a late lunch. Went in Yelp and Cafe Pacific was close to hotel. Came in and saw a sign that says there was a dress code and no shorts allowed. Fortunately for me restaurant wasn't open until 5:30 so sat at the bar... Bar was full, only two empty seats.. Small bar menu with decent wine list.. Long story short, not one single thing was a disappointment, not only that but all really really good. Ambiance was like cheers.... Mike the bartender knew everyone at the bar like they were family. Very hospitable and helpful. Got many good recommendations. Had crab cakes, jumbo shrimp cocktail, Chinese chicken salad, and 1/2 steak burger... Burger was cooked perfectly, salad had nice little kick of spice with perfect amount of dressing. Shrimp cocktail was huge and plump and crab cake was more than good. Mike recommended a Pecan ice cream dessert that was absolutely delish. And the Napa cabernet they had was very good. If I can squeeze out the time, gonna come back again. Place is aces. 👍👍👍Absolutely top notch, high end, friendly, delicious..!!!

Not that great. Over buttered, greasy food with high prices. Suggest checking out some of the others in Highland Village.

It's not often you can find no fault with a restaurant, but our first time visit for lunch for four was just that. The restaurant has a stylish old-fashioned ambience, discreet knowledgeable service (thank you Stephan), excellent food (the jumbo lump crab meat and the three onion crusted sea bass were superb), and the Sonoma County fumé blanc white hit just the right spot. For me, another outstanding feature was the expresso, a real coffee! A real pleasure of a meal and it's not often you can say that.

The patio was awesome with a break in the weather. Food is always wonderful and the wine list great. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Another successful long patio lunch. Highly recommend it.

Excellent atmosphere, great service, wonderful food cooked according to your specifications and served up deliciously !! Dessert is a definite must when dining here !!!

Came with special friends for dinner. Started with delicious calamari. Each of us ordered a different fish and they were superb. My Chilean sea bass was exceptional. Our friends advised us to have the pecan ball for dessert. Totally decadent. Service was very friendly. It was also nice to enjoy dinner and conversation in such a pleasant environment.

We've been to Cafe Pacific for lunch many, many times, but this was our first experience for dinner. The food is wonderful and the ambience is lovely. But I had a real issue with our waiter Walter. We chose a pretty nice bottle of wine (Ghrich Hills) and our friend ordered it. He gave us all an initial pour (mine substantially smaller; I guess because I'm a woman?). Every time he walked by the table, he poured for our friend, but never again for my husband and I. Now I understand that our friend comes here quite regularly, but when you're splitting the bill you want to split the bottle of wine that you purchased too. Pour form! Oh and by the way, it's unattractive to fawn over one party at the table; you're supposed to be a professional.

My wife and I went for dinner on a Thursday night. The restaurant was full at 7:30, so I was happy I got reservations when I did. The service was superb, with the attention we needed but the privacy we wanted. I got the ceviche and my wife got the lump crab appetizers. Both were fresh and wonderful. The ceviche could have had more heat, but that may just be my preference. My wife got the red fish and I had sole almandine for mains. Both were outstanding and in portions to feed even the hungriest of dinners. I love good seafood and plan to return to Cafe Pacific soon. I had too many choices I didn't want to not try.

Had lunch here with the family. They have a great half and half lunch special that allows you to pick two items from a list including caesar salad, mixed green salad, soup du jour, clam chowder, chopped seafood salad, roasted trout, and southwest steak. I had the seafood salad and the roasted trout. Well-prepared and not expensive. Nice, friendly and professional service.

Dinner with a friend. Very good service. Good value for bottle of wine. My sole picatta was perfect flavor ,temperature and presentation . Small to medium service size was what I wanted. My friend had snapper which he expressed was also well prepared and tastefull. We shared a calamari appetizer which was spot on. Will return on next trip to Dallas.

We visited Cafe Pacific last Sunday for brunch with an out-of-town friend. We hadn't been to CP in years, but wanted a nice quiet place so we could visit with our friend. I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews that CP could seem snobby or slight people not from Highland Park. (We are not from HP). Instead, we found a friendly, efficient and very professional wait staff. The wait staff was there when we needed them, but they didn't barge into our table conversation. Food was excellent all the way around. The restaurant has not slipped at all. It's hard to find service this good -- with food and atmosphere to match. We'll be back soon!

Cafe Pacific has a first class environment, great food and awesome service. The rich woods, and black and white tile floor convey a rich, high class ambience. You just know the good is going to be great, and it was. Our group of four (only I had been there before) were blown away with the quality of the food and could not stop talking about it days later. Our group had the sea bass, smoked salmon and steak. All were great. The gumbo was very good. The wine list while not extensive had some exceptional choices. Our waiter, Mark, provided great service and did an terrific job allowing us to enjoy our time together, and engaging in some conversation with us especially around the many great food choices. Next time I would find myself near Dallas I would definitely go out of my way to have another meal at Cafe Pacific.

My husband and I were visiting Dallas for the first time and a friend and former resident highly recommended Café Pacific to us. We had reservations for 8:00 on Friday evening, and although we arrived a little early, we were promptly seated, albeit by the kitchen. It was crowded that evening, so we didn't complain, but with reservations made two weeks in advance, I believe we could have been given a better seat. Ambience is important, especially in that type of setting, and we probably should have said something....but on with the review. At first glance, it appeared a little pretentious and stiff. But we were quickly made to feel like we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Our service was absolutely stellar. Our server, Charlie, took wonderful care of us, and in time we forgot about sitting next to the kitchen! We were presented with the most wonderful shoestring sweet potatoes. They were crispy, perfectly seasoned and just slightly spicy, and replenished often. I plan to replicate these at home. In addition, delicious hot rolls were also brought to the table and replenished when empty. There was an impressive wine list, but we actually had drinks at the hotel prior to dinner, so we stayed with iced tea. Neither our water nor our tea glasses were ever allowed to go past half-full. Charlie made sure our glasses were constantly filled. The menu offered many delicious items, including several seafood options, a couple of peppered filets, and a New York Strip and several salads and sides. We opted for the peppered filet and the New York strip, along with a couple of wedge salads. The salads were crisp and the blue cheese was flavorful and delicious. The steaks were unbelievably tender, wonderfully seasoned and cooked to medium-rare perfection. The steaks were served with pommes frites, which were somewhat disappointing. Not bad, just nothing special. With the amazing quality of the steaks, I'm surprised they didn't have a more special side to offer with it. We were so full, but had heard so many good things about the Pecan Ball for dessert, that we thought we might try it. Charlie was kind enough to let us know there was a smaller version of the Pecan Ball, so we decided to split that. It was wonderful!! Vanilla ice cream rolled in roasted pecans and covered in a wonderful dark chocolate sauce, finished off with whipped cream and almond brittle, it was dessert perfection. Overall, our experience was a great one, and the excellent service we received is what pushed it over the top. Our total bill for a filet, New York strip, two a la carte salads, dessert and tea was about $125. A little pricey, but for the quality of the foodservice, well worth it. If you decide to try it out, please ask for Charlie's table. We will most definitely return.

This Highland Park classic has been around for decades and the food, service, and atmosphere are always 5 Star! We had a delightful evening during restaurant week and were reminded why this classic has been around for so long. Salmon was delicious as were the other choices and the service was GREAT! Be sure to ask for Charlie if you want quality service with a side of fun! He made our evening extra special! And for dessert you absolutely have to try the ice cream with nuts and chocolate - whatever they call it, it’s the best!

I re-visited this restaurant after a 20-year absence from Dallas, and I was so happy that it is still as wonderful as it used to be. Located in the tony Highland Park Village, Cafe Pacific has been a place for Dallas' society crowd for a long time, and it retains its traditional decor in defiance of the contemporary trends that young diners seem to love. I enjoyed both of these aspects of the place, but the most important thing is the food. It remains excellent. We had fresh oysters to start; they were superb though expensive. We then had blackened prawns and sole for a main course. Both were also excellent. Service remains quite good. And the fun of watching the crowd - some very old, some aspiring young matrons, and some families looking like a Ralph Lauren photo shoot - is a sport in itself. What you won't find here are hipsters, which is a great plus in itself. Will definitely return on my next trip.

I have not been to Cafe Pacific in a while, yesterday refreshed my memory of how good they are I ordered the restaurant week menu and it was an excellent experience While Cafe Pacific is known for their fantastic sea food, yesterday I ordered the meat offered and it turned out outstanding. The chimichurri preparation was beyond excellent, it's the best chimichurri I have had outside of Argentina If they still are serving it I highly recommend it The appetizer of smoked salmon with a poached egg and dill was very nice, the creme brûlée was very good, it was served not hot enough but the custard lavender was very good Sat at the bar and David the bartender and his colleague were knowledgeable and great customer service Another one from the staff Mauro was constantly present without being intrusive Continue the great work and tradition Will be back there very soon

Highland Park Village has changed so much, but this is the Icon of the Village! The Sea Bass is delicious! The Café also has one of the best burgers I have experienced, it is exactly what you expect!!! the bisque is wonderful, I loved everything!

This place has always been great, but we just have not been there for dinner in several years. We went last Friday, and we were impressed all over again. I grew up in the NE and I adore soft shelled crab. Not too many places have it either. I saw it on their Appetizer list, and our waiter, recommended it as an entree portion that they could do for me. In short, I have never, ever, had a better soft shelled crab that this. It is CRISPY and perfectly seasoned. The meals that each of us had were great. My husband had the Caesar salad and Chilean Sea Bass and really enjoyed both. Four of us shared a "pecan ball" for dessert. Delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant, and ESPECIALLY recommend asking for Mark as your waiter. He was outstanding, as was the owner who came over to talk to us. First class all the way! (Remember, ask for Mark!)

I have dined here for many years and I have always enjoyed the food until my last two visits. On both occasions the fish was dry, mushy and tasteless. The service and atmosphere were first rate. Too bad the chef cannot keep pace.

Great service, great food, great atmosphere. This is a traditional, classy restaurant. It's not Chili's, so don't come in a tee-shirt and jeans and think you will fit in. Prices are reasonable for the quality and service. My party had sole and scallops on last visit. Fish is always fresh and well prepared. Salads are outstanding. But, best thing may be the pecan ball ice cream desert. Don't skip that.

I've wanted to eat here for years. We decided to give it a try and we were impressed. The restaurant and bar are small which makes it feel quite intimate. If you can get the table next to the large window overlooking HP Village, the very is great at night when the trees are lit. Our waitress had a great sense of humor. Our food was great. We all ordered different things and nothing was disappointing.

First off this restaurant is just beautiful with the wood and etched glass. The manager was bringing hand sanitizer outside and engaged in conversation with us while looking at the menu. We were worried we might be dressed too casual, but he told us to come in and have lunch. Seated us right away and place quickly filled up. The homemade bread is sooo good and served with soft whipped butter. I had the wedge salad and it alone was filling, but I had ordered the club sandwich. We had a bottle of rose gold and it was delicious and affordable at $55 bottle. Would definitely go back here!

CAFE PACIFIC.. is one the best and most beautiful restaurants I have been at. From the location to smiling welcome staff to ambiance to delicious food, everything is perfect here. I have been there with my colleagues at Wine lunch, it was set menu and I enjoyed a lot. Every course of food was delicious, and it has raised the standards till end. Service was outstanding, ambiance was good. Kudos to all team, see you again.

One of the best meals I've had. Started with a wedge salad topped with pickled onions which were delicious. Very lean perfectly prepared lamb chops and finish with a bit of pecan ball. Also enjoyed seeing three Bentleys parked out front.

I'm definitely a boomer, and this restaurant was pretty close to my ideal "nice place" for a special dinner. Everything was perfect! Lovely decor that reminded me of the fine restaurants of yesteryear. Outstanding service. We had mixed greens salad and wedge salad. Delicious New York strip steak, perfectly cooked grouper with risotto on the side. Generous portion of steamed spinach. It was elegant but not ridiculously expensive, including the wines. The complimentary dessert was the best ever -- chocolate sundae with an almond praline.

Went for a birthday lunch, mid-week and it was fabulous! This Dallas institution has it all - great service, super food, and reasonably priced lunch specials. I especially enjoyed the baked trout with a side of Caesar Salad. Delicious! Ambience is warm and friendly, very attentive waiter and a steady flow of iced tea refills. The complimentary birthday desert was off the charts -- vanilla ice cream "swimming" in chocolate sauce with a side of homemade whipped cream Yum! Can't wait to return.

Came here the week of Sept. 3, service was excellent. Food and wine were OK but maybe that was our fault. Wine (a cabernet) gave me a headache and the food was OK but not spectacular. I brought most of it home and ate it the next night, wife did the same. It's a snazzy upscale place and a very pleasant place to grab a bite. For the two of us the bill game to $155.60 plus tip plus valet parking tip. Might go back in the future but not right away, have to wait until my credit card recovers from its heart attack.

Cafe Pacific is part of the Highland Park area of Dallas. It is located in a nice plaza of high end shops. This restaurant is on Opentable so you can easily make reservations. Came here for a dinner was immediately seated. Our server Mike was pleasant and prompt. He offered suggestions, answered questions, and pointed us in the direction of signature dishes. My wife and I are trying eat lighter if not healthier and Mike caught on to that so the blue cheese wedge salad and the onion crusted sea bass were pre split on to individual plates. We also had an escargot appetizer. When either myself or my lovely wife asked for lemon wedges or extra blue cheese we got more than could have been asked for, and we appreciated this five star service at a five star restaurant. The service is exception and the food is superb. When We return to Dallas, we come back to Cafe Pacific. To top off the evenings dinner, Mike suggested we try the signature dessert, vanilla ice cream rolled in chopped pecans and wading in a bed of dark chocolate, with an almond brittle. That ruined our calorie counting but left us on a sweet note. This is the first time I tipped more than 20% to a waiter at a restaurant but both Mike and the restaurant deserves the credit for a wonderful meal with great ambiance.

The 'maitre' changed our napkins to black after showing us to our table, lest our dark clothing pick up fluff from the white ones that she removed. The white jacketed waiters were almost all recognisable from my last visit, three years ago and the menu was pretty similar too. The black and white chequer board tiles and glass topped partitions come straight from Paris and the clientele might well have been dressed there too. The food was decent without being great, its is the time of the year when so much produce has to be brought in from afar.

Delicious from start to finish nearly every time. Don't be surprised to see a celeb or socialite alongside a housewife!

Had a wonderful lunch. Fish was incredibly fresh and the oriental chicken salad is very satisfying as they are generous with the chicken in the salad. They have the best sea bass dish in town, and I love their salmon, which comes with sauteed spinach and fries. They also have the best servers in town. Service is attentive and friendly, and they make each guest feel very welcome.

I ordered the ceviche and was really disappointed. Also ordered the caprice salad which was also disappointing. Husband had blackened redfish and thought it was good. So there you have it. Quite expensive.

I went here a couple of months ago with some friends to celebrate a birthday, and I must say, even though we only went for desert and coffee, I was sincerely impressed with the quality of service and the speed with which are food came out. I would really recommend this place for any special occasion, like a family or friend's celebration.

Having been out of town for almost 2 years, I was happy to see that this Dallas staple is still going strong. We stopped by after dinner somewhere else (should have gone to Café Pacific) for dessert and drinks at the bar. The service was spot on, we were made to feel special and welcomed the second we walked in the door. The bartender suggested the "Pecan Bomb" I think it is called, which was delicious. Fun people at the bar, nice place to end the evening. Will go there for the full dinner next time as it has always been delicious food.

Delicious meal with wonderful service. Great for our group of friends! Had a great time! Highly recommend this restaurant.

The sweet potatoes spirals that are served when you are seated are fair warning that more good stuff is coming. Our grandson declares that the Clam Chowder is the best he has had and Papa agrees. I had the Porcini Mushroom soup that was wonderful. Entrees included seafood crepes, Crab Louie, Chopped Salad with crab and shrimp. Kerry Vincent on the Food Networks' "Best Thing I ever Ate" said the Pecan Ball at Cafe Pacific was the best dessert she ever had. Who am I to disagree? Of the 6 of us, I was the only one to order but by the time, everyone took a sample I was left scraping the plate.

Cafe Pacific used to be a good value for really good food -- no longer. A recent visit yielded overcooked fish and a lobster risotto that was bland and lumpy. A wine list that was formerly reasonably priced is no longer that way. I realize that restaurants have experienced inflation but not to this extent. It no longer is a decent value.

Do you know how you go to a place so many years ago and remembered how special it was. Then you go back and a so disappointed. Either your tastes changed or the place wasn't that great. This is neither. Cafe pacific was and always has been an amazing restaurant. With white jacketed waiters that cater to your every need to an awesome kitchen staff that has consistently turned out quality dishes for decades. So little has changed with this place over the 30 plus years I have been coming here and that's what makes it so great. The simply grilled fish and steaks are to die for and they always have amazing specials. If you aren't totally stuffed the chocolate nut ball is incredible. I can't say enough great things about this amazing highland park place

We have been to this little gem of a restaurant since they first opened in Highland Park Village. Over the years we have celebrated anniversaries and birthdays here. We celebrated our 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th and now our 45th wedding anniversary at Café Pacific. European style setting with the wait staff dressed in white shirts and ties with a white apron. We usually select the salmon, but this night we both had the fillet. Great cocktails, great service and great atmosphere. Almost everyone would enjoy this fine restaurant and they must be doing something right to have survived all of these years. Probably my favorite place and I hope they stick around for another 30 years. I highly recommend and think you will love this place.

Took advantage of Restaurant Week to visit after several year absence. Service was good and food was good but certainly nothing special. I expected better. I judge restaurants on do I want to go again tomorrow. The answer would be no! I suspect for $49 there is much better Restaurant Week options.

Went for dinner last night. A very upscale crowd of people so very well dressed the menu was wonderful. We had lump crabmeat Louis it was fantastic. My wife had trout almandine it was crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. I had rack of lamb excellent. The service was over the top. A great choice for dinner!!!

Beautiful atmosphere and very attentive wait staff! Just stopped in for for a glass of wine, a wedge salad and some crab cakes - all were delicious! Looking forward to coming back in for entrees!

An evening at Cafe Pacific is always a treat. They always take such good care of and the food is excellent. We are big fans of the sea bass! From the service, ambience, food and even the sweet potato fries they they bring you up front, everything hits the mark.

Enjoyed a lovely evening with friends after many years since my last visit to Café Pacific. The classic décor and elegance continues to rate restaurant as Dallas divine in my opinion! The proprietor, Jack oversees all as he has for 30+ years. Service is impeccable!!

I love this restaurant. It is classy with a club like feel almost like "21" in NY. I must say I go there most days for lunch. I rave about the service it is 5 stars and they love their clientele. Most of their customers have been going there for 30 years and that says it all. They make you feel at home. They are very courteous and professional. I love the Executive Chef Megan, the service from the moment you step in the door and the attentive staff makes this my most favorite place in Dallas. I drive over 30 minutes to get there. What more can I say!

I know this is an old "stand-by" in the Park Cities. However, I have rediscovered this place for lunch. Used to go in the evening for "date night" - now I'm discovering the wonderful service, menu and food for lunch. I am a "sucker" for starched white table clothes. I would say their waiters are the best in Dallas. Many of them are practically institutions., I have a favorite waiter and favorite table -but won 't disclose! If you think you have to be a "parky" to enjoy - you don't. Just go and enjoy being treated wonderfully.

It has been several years since we had visited this restaurant. It was one of our favorites! We had the chance to meet up with family members this past weekend. Excellent service, excellent specials, excellent ambiance! Wine list is wonderful with knowledgeable staff to help you get what you want. I had the filet with crab and béarnaise sauce! Cooked to perfection! Others in the group had red snapper and sole. All great. We shared 3 desserts, also wonderful! This place books fast on the weekends so get a reservation. If you are in the SMU area this is a must eatery to try.

We had Sunday brunch at Cafe Pacific. I expected amazing food and it exceed my expectations. However, the most amazing thing about Cafe Pacific is that the service is amazing. They are willing to customize in any way to get you something you will love. Our waiter was so very attentive but not overbearing or pretentious. There is a reason this restaurant has been in business for decades...they are fabulous.

We were once again very unhappy with the staff overall in this restaurant. They act is if you are there to serve them. Most peculiar attitude of any restaurant we can ever recall. My husband and I wanted to give them another chance since we are locals and this is very close to our jobs and home. My suggestion would be to stay away. The main entrée we both had was below average at the best. I do believe the service is one of the worst just rude and so full of themselves it appears.
Another Iconic dinner!
Truly a classic in the Dallas restaurant scene... not to be missed! Great seafood... and awesome steaks for date night! Definitely an older crowd but don't let that deter you! The lump crab cakes are always excellent to start with... we shared the three onion crusted sea bass... beware it's a huge portion... and of course the pepper crusted filet in cognac sauce... augmented by a twice baked and grilled mushrooms... no way we could finish let alone even consider dessert! It always seems to be a few years before I get back here... but t's always worth the wait! In business over 30 years now... a testament to great service and good food!
