This Madrona hideaway maintains a warm and welcoming atmosphere with adventuresome and bold cuisine. Cafe Soleil is a delightful Ethiopian cafe that boasts a wide variety of rich offerings, from lamb to shrimp, to veggies. Excellent service pairs well with fresh, homespun vegetable-based w'et. The injera was warm and perfect for dripping. The portions were on the smaller side for the price, but for a special date night, this would make an excellent choice.

This was my first time to eat Ethiopian food and it was a very good experience!! The cafe was small and personable, with lots of windows and natural light coming in. The waiter friendly and efficient, food delicious and the owner/chef even came out and chatted with guests!! Really a good first time experience!

this is a place that my husband and I stop in each time we come to visit Seattle. located in Madrona, on a street filled with neighborhood restaurants and stores, the street offers a breathtaking view of trees and flower filled bushes. I am in love with the menu offering brunch! Reasonable and great customer service

It's beyond me why this restaurant is rated so low. If I could figure out how to rate this at 3.5 stars I would. Go for the Ethiopian food, which is delicious. She offers salmon, which is a bit unusual and the service is gracious.

We've been to Cafe Soliel frequently for brunch and always loved it. This was our first time for dinner and they did not disappoint! The food is excellent and the service is great. It is a sweet small quiet restaurant in the heart of Madrona. The evening menu is Ethiopian, but don't expect the usual family style servings on a tray of injera. The dishes are served individually and have different preparations than other restaurants. I highly reccomend it if you like Ethiopian.

The space isn't fancy, but it is in a great location (Madrona's urban village), the owner is wonderful, the staff works hard to make your experience pleasant, and the food is good. When the line is long at nearby Hi-Spot Cafe, I happily take my preferred table at Cafe Soleil and eat my preferred breakfast on Saturday or Sunday. (Not open for breakfast any other days.) The frittatas and scrambles are well-made with good ingredients. The cafe is also open Wednesday through Saturday nights for dinner, and the reason to go is for the delicious Ethiopian food.

I’ve eaten here many times, and I love it! Best Ethiopian food in Seattle. Order dinner family style and try all of the dishes. Love the yellow split pea, greens and everything else! Great frittatas. Brunch is great, too!

The food here is eclectic: sometimes Ethiopian, sometimes, Italian, and sometimes American-styled breakfast. Lovely, bistro atmosphere, excellent service, really welcoming staff. You are treated like family here and the breakfasts taste like excellent home-cooking.

Warm and inviting. Low-key spot with great coffee and a fantastic, fresh breakfast menu. Makes me wish I lived in Seattle!

This is our family's favorite restaurant in Madrona. We hold the opinion that the place is shockingly under appreciated. Folks walk past, perhaps heading for more familiar options. What a mistake! The weekend breakfast is straightforward, delicious, and exceptionally well-priced. But it's the dinners that make us swoon. One side of the menu offers the best Ethiopian food we've had in Seattle; the other side offers delicious, soothing Italian. Our daughter grew up ordering the spaghetti number 1 and sneaking bites from her parents' Ethiopian dishes. Now that she's older, her palate and curiosity have expanded and she's just as likely to order her own Ethiopian. When we lived in the neighborhood, we went every week. Man, I miss those days. The food, the service, and the ambiance are so, so good at Cafe Soleil.

My partner has brought me to Café Soleil twice now and we absolutely love this place. The staff is always exceptionally friendly and hospitable, the food is always great and they have some fun 'specials' that change often. I've not yet been for dinner, but we are looking forward to it so that we can experience the Ethiopian cuisine that they serve! OH! And the best part is that there's never a wait to get in; when the places nearby have a 1+ hour wait, Café Soleil can get you right in.

I've been coming here almost every week for a year, it is a super friendly evironment and almost no waiting lines. The food is incredible and it tastes like home-made, one of the best spots in Madrona for sure! They have 2 different menus, the brunch one is good but the dinner is incredible, I've learned to love Ethiopian food here :)

We went to the Madrona area to eat at a specific restaurant, which shall remain nameless. After waiting 45 minutes to be told they had a new chef who never experienced Sunday brunch crowds, the kitchen was backed up and it would be another 45 minutes before being served, we appreciated her honesty and decided to leave. Just a few doors down was Cafe Soliel. There was no line and some empty tables so we decided to stay. At that same moment, quite a few other people waiting at the other restaurant came over. Three of my group ordered the potatoes with different meats. I had the salmon and it came with a dollop of sour cream. The flavors were unique and simply delicious. Cafe Soliel was a great alternative. A shout out to Zander who waited on us and most everyone there. Great service and he was excellent at managing the sudden crowd.

I'm so glad that Cirque made a showing near Seattle. There's a certain quality guarantee associated with Cirque, and it did not disappoint! There were times where I was literally at the edge of my seat, and it always varies per person, but for me, it was the jump rope. They kept going faster and faster doing backflips and kept speeding up and it got me so nervous! Haha. I was also really impressed with the bike trickster. He had some mad game, and I was especially surprised when he kept kicking back his leg to maintain speed/momentum. Of course, the acrobatics and gymnasts were fantastic. The strength required is just mind-boggling, but it's their profession! Highly recommend!

My wife and I have been going to this lovely spot mostly for breakfasts for many years and have never been disappointed, only delighted and well fed! The reception is always warm, but casual and the fare is not adventurous, but solid and always delicious. Even on rainy dark days, the huge window bring a soft light to flood the space and there is never any rush or hurry to turn your table. True hospitality is found here. We celebrated our anniversary here with dinner last year and were treated royally and the Ethiopian meal was simply swell. For breakfast or lunch a special favorite is the Smoked Salmon Potatoes. We found this place by accident when another place just down the street had huge linesand have been happy here ever since.

Great Ethiopian.
Always Really Delicious!
This neighborhood restaurant never disappoints with service and delicious menu! I was tempted to get the spaghetti but the specialty dishes are just too tasty to pass up! Highly recommended!
