We had an excellent dinner here. The scallop appetizer is not to be missed, it was exceptional. We also tried the gnocchi and the lamb, two very delicious dishes. The tiramisu was a great finish to a memorable dinner. Looking forward to returning to try other items.

Visited with my oldest daughter and ordered the risotto and the spinach ravioli, had the three cheese taste for an appetizer. Service and food were absolutely fantastic! If you are looking for a little taste of Italy, you will find it here.

Loved walking down this alley, felt like I was in Brussels on restaurant row. Chose Cafe Tiramisu so I could enjoy a glass of prosecco with some appetizers. Had the bruschetta and meatballs. Both delicious and unique. Service was great. Would definitely return.

Excellent off the beaten path but close to everything. 5 blocks from Moscone Center and well worth it. Been 3 times and never disappointed. Recommended from 5 star hotel concierge and have not bee disappointed. Customers and friends always enjoy the authentic Italian dishes and atmosphere. Pino is the finest host. Ciao for now.

Atmosphere was enchanting, service was outstanding ( smiles, readiness, kindness and humor) and then food! Was perfect! Perfect amount, flavors where achieved in a perfect way, it was a complete delight! We had mussels, a kale salad a a delicious sole doré. A perfect cappuccino and finally tiramisu.

Loved this small Italian restaurant- Great food and service, even though some of the stuff had not shown up. I was well taken care of and comfortable dining alone. My waiter literally ran around taking care of everyone!

Was going to try the restaurant next to this, but the people currently dining al fresco at Cafe Tiramisu seemed more interesting and in fine form. And my first experience at this restaurant a while ago didn't disappoint; the menu immediately drew my two college boys who were in town. Enjoyed the ambiance and the food but our server was surly, unfriendly, unsmiling, and aloof. The mussels in saffron sauce appetizer was excellent and so were the Bombolino and Baked Chocolate Mousse; the Tiramisu was just average. We'd have lingered more but the server was a mood killer.

Located in an alley with other restaurants Tiramisu is a key find. There is indoor, downstairs and outdoor seating. The Italian food, atmosphere, and service are an excellent combination for a great experience. It's another place I visit on an annual trip to the City with the guys.

Delicious Italian food in a very European setting. Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here on a Friday night. Our reservations were handled appropriately and we were quickly seated. This is a dining experience, so if one is in a hurry, one should pass. All of the members of our party were very pleased with all of the fresh ingredients and the pasta and risotto were exceptional. They have a very good wine list and cocktails are available if you are so inclined. The service was professional one not intrusive. We will definitely return!

Our meal was delicious, the service excellent and the location charming. Plus they welcomed our dog who was with us on the patio.

Loved the Belden Alley and the Cafe. Service was wonderful and the food was superb. Highly highly recommend this restaurant.

It was a cold and drizzly night (like so many nights in SF!) and it was latish; the restaurant next door had stopped serving dinner, and we had our dog with us so needed a patio setting. Tiramisu allowed us to sit on their patio - we soon realized that they too were about to close. However, they were very welcoming, the manager was gracious, and we proceeded to have two excellent salmon dinners with good wine and drinks.

Ate here a long time ago and returned to see what it was like. Still as good as remembered. Nice italian food in the center of the business district. Pleasant place for lunch, nice people, good location in an alley with other restaurants. Busy, but fun.

My colleague was in the mood for veal. Oddly, very few Italian restaurants in SF offer it. But...was on the menu here so we went. I had Pappardelle. Both dishes prepared perfectly, though they aren't anything that pretends to be complex or novel. Service was fine. Liked the choices here better than some of the other Not a whole lot to report since we ate outside and never went in. However, the person outside did a better job of "selling" the experience than many of the others in Belden Place. Probably would have picked it even if we hadn't already chosen. Also-they had Amaro in the bar, which oddly, Brindisi Cucina di Mare a few doors down, does not--a restaurant that bills itself as Southern Italian (where Amaro is a big deal).

Our first visit to SF wouldn't have been complete without a visit to this understated but excellent eating venue. Our hotel concierge recommended it and we were so happy. We were sat amongst other diners who'd also loved it so much they were on their second night in a row visit! I had Caesar salad with crab, Hubbie had grilled octopus with the most incredible salad accompaniment to start. Then, we ordered seafood linguine and ravioli. Wow, it was getting better and better! Yes, we still had room for dessert, so we shared tiramisu. Honestly, you must try this place. Such a fabulous essentially brilliant place.

The concierge in the Omni recommended this restaurant. It was simply the best meal we had in San Francisco. The portions were not the gigantic plates you often see. The lamb cutlets were perfect - tender and very tasty. We enjoyed the persoana service also. Eat here if you are in the Financial District.

Went there with my family of and everything was top notch from the service to the food. I had mussels in a red sauce and they were excellent (very tender). My entree was a pasta in a white sauce with prociouto, it was outstanding. Again the service was top notch. Definetely worth a visit.

This is a hidden treasure. Food was very good from apps to desert. A nice variety as well. It was a little cramped so no 5 star but the potential of outside seating was nice. I thought price was good for a Union Square restaurant.

I have been recommending restaurants in Belden Place to clients and friends for years as an off the beaten tourist path but I had never eaten there but got positive feedback from people mostly on Café Tiramisu so this last trip I decided we should give it a go. Wasn't impressed at first as we were ushered to the very back corner of an almost empty restaurant but realised later that they had a few large groups coming in for the other space. Service was lacking in personality but very efficient and the Manager was good in welcoming and overseeing everything. Food was great__we both had pasta dishes but I must say the gnocchi was brilliant. Overall the visit was better than expected and we will be back.

Belden street is like a quaint European alley lined with several restaurants all with outdoor seating. We were sorry we picked this restaurant. Partner ordered the spaghetti w/ crab meat. The table was on a slant which caused about a quarter cup of oil to slide to one side of the plate. I ordered the farfalle Arribatta with goat cheese. The sauce was thick, tasteless and bland. Maybe from a can? When the bill came, the charge of $14 for a skimpy glass of watery weak red wine was outrageous. Seriously, the glass only had 2 inches of wine in it. If you like flavorless overpriced food with a $14 sip of wine go here.

Needed a light casual meal near to the hotel on our first night in San Francisco, and after weeks on the road. We shared 3 light dishes and it was well executed and delicious. We've esten a lot of Italian meals and this rated highly. Our neighbours were happy as well. Service professional.

they offer high quality food. I really enjoyed my salmon at this place. It was so tasty and delicious. The only issue was it was so noisy as kitchen is in the middle and open space and we were sitting right next to it. If they improve this part as well, they will be awesome.

Cafe Tiramisu is tucked away on an adorable lane of restaurants in the financial district. The food is so delicious and the wait staff super professional. Our family enjoyed every single dish - from the roasted pear salad to the bronzino to the homemade ragu and pappardelle and finally to the tiramisu - easily the lightest, tastiest tiramisu I have eaten in or outside of Italy. No doubt you will enjoy this family-run, high quality restaurant for the food and the atmosphere.

I can't wait to go back to San Francisco and dine here. We ate outside which gave us a European feeling. They had heaters so the cold wasn't an issue. We ordered 2 appetizers the bruschetta and a cheese tray both were excellent. Then came the entree and I have to say it was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The owner was there and saw a homeless man walking by and made him a to go order. I thought that was nice because he certainly didn't have too. We had a nice conversation with him and he told us where he came from in italy and he sent us over free shots which was nice. I can't say more good things about this place.

First recommended to us by a concierge 20 years ago this restaurant has been a part of many trips to SF. We love this place and will ALWAYS eat at least one meal here. The food is always spot on... we like that it is a bit hidden on a small outdoor dining alley in the middle of the city! We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and life here... we have eaten at all the best places in SF and have seen many come and go but this place is always true to us. Everyone we take there loves it and so we hope you will too. If you are a food snob, loosen up and have a great relaxed meal here.

Are you looking for authentic and delicious Italian food? This is your place. Killer pastas, fantastic cioppino and a great selection of main dishes. The desserts are to die for. Excellent Tiramisu (it HAS to be, right?!) and molten chocolate cake with berries and whipped cream. A double espresso is the perfect thing to partner with ANY dessert here! Excellent service, too. You just can’t go wrong with this restuarant.

Great little find - very good value for down town San Francisco. It was a bit busy and a little overcrowded (hence the 4 stars only). Food was good and the staff polite and attentive - just got my chair bumped one too many times by a passing waiter to make it truly great experience... Maybe just my bad luck in the place I sat.

Several concierge recommendations for this place, as was ours! Zero ambiance, service was "take it or leave it," and the place had a mediocre feel. The Caesar salad was "institutional" but the lobster ravioli and the salmon were good. The clams and linguini that our neighbor was having smelled delicious. However, when presented with the bill, the salad was $1 more than the menu price, the main courses were $2 more and the wine was $4 more. The waiter's response was "I only push the buttons, I'll speak to the manager!" When the manager/owner presented a corrected bill, his response was "Sorry 'bout that!" Beware - TOURIST TRAP! Certainly bears out previous reviews about management.

If you're looking for really good Italian food that's authentic this is the place. Make sure you make a reservation and I suggest you eat early, say around 6 PM. The place gets packed at 7. The noise level can be intense. There is also an outdoor space that is much quieter weather permitting. I had the prefix dinner for $40 and if you ordered wine it was seven dollars. A real bargain for San Francisco. The meal started out with scallops over a short rib risotto. The scallops were tender and the risotto was devine. The portion was large and could've been a main course. I then had homemade papardelli with a Bolognese sauce. Delicious! And of course for dessert I had their homemade tiramisu. The service was excellent and the meal superb. I will definitely go back again.

My husband and I were looking for a place close to our hotel, Café Tiramisu is nearby. For appetizers that we shared the classic Veal l meat balls, they were amazing a definite must try. I got The truffle/fontina stuffed Gnocchi. My husband got the Pappardelle. For dessert I got the Tiramisu my husband got the chocolate raspberry cake.Everything was amazing, best Italian food we’ve had ever had...we travel quite extensively.

It is located in a back street with few nice restaurants. You need a GPS to find it but it is worth visiting. This is my second time visiting the cafe. They served fantastic food and very nice ambience. Great place for gathering and business dinner. Very friendly waiters as well. Good service.

Good solid Italian with many expected dishes which were all good. We messed with the menu for our teenage kids and the chef got it spot on. Recommended although slightly tough to find.

We actually stumbled upon Cafe Tiramisu when the restaurant we were trying to find (located right next door) ended up being closed. We had a party of 7, and because we had planned on dining elsewhere, did not have a reservation but the staff were very happy to find us a table. The restaurant is located in an alley, which we found to be charming as it was strung with lights and lined with other eateries as well - and just off a main street so it wasn't too far removed from the foot traffic. The food was fantastic! I ordered the salmon, but everyone was very happy with their dish. Our waiter was wonderful and was fun to have around. While we didn't plan to eat here, I'm glad that we did, and would definitely come back!

On a recommendation we decided to book a table at Cafe Tiramusu. We arrived a little early and were seated right away. Note the restaurant is located in an alley along with multiple other restaurants. We had the cheese plate and carpaccio to start and were quite happy with the flavors and wine pairing. We carried in a wine and paid a $20 corkage fee. Kudos to our server who recommended a change in our appetizer selection. Great service. I had the lamb as the main entree and it was the best I have ever eaten. Blending of flavors of sage and rosemary made the dish very savory. Also we had the New York strip steak. Well executed, tender and perfect caramelization. Needless to say a few leftovers were carried out. Nice options for dessert with after dinner drinks or various coffees, sambucca and grappa etc. I had the tiramisu which was very good but no alcohol. Overall an enjoyable experience!

On a visit to San Francisco over 15 years ago, my wife and I stumbled upon this delightful restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience back then, and once again, several weeks ago, during another visit to the city by the bay. There were three of us this time, and we all felt this was great Italian cooking across the board. The service was efficient and friendly. The owner, Giuseppe Scoppetta, made it a point to drop by our table, and we all chatted for quite awhile. The atmosphere here is both casual and most hospitable. To cap off our savory and delicious meals we indulged in the sinful namesake desert and collectively felt it was the best Tiramisu we had ever experienced. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for really good food, and a warm casual environment.

We stumbled upon Cafe Tiramisu at Belden Place one night as we were in search of a good place to eat on our family vacation in California. Off of a small side street, the restaurant is nestled amongst a few others with outdoor seating. Service was great, and our food was so delicious that we went back for dinner a second time later in the week. The food tasted truly like authentic Italian, and really hit the spot.

After sorting through dozens of restaurants that didn't have any reservations available, my girlfriend and I settled on Cafe Tiramisu, partly because we both love tiramisu, but mostly because they had a table available. My Cioppino was very good, although not quite as good as The Tadich Grill. The Tiramisu was yummy, but not quite as good as Kuleto's. My girlfriend and I sat outdoors where the tables were packed together. Not very romantic. But at least the noise level wasn't as bad as in an enclosed restaurant. Our table was also on an incline. I thought my cioppino was going to spill over. The bill was hefty, but not outrageous.

Not good… truly great food. The ingredients were excellent and the service was exceptional. We will make it a must go whenever we are in the city

A good restaurant with good Italian food at very reasonable prices. The service was mostly good (although we did have to ask twice for a wine once). I had the paperdelle with beef & pork ragu which was full of flavour and nicely filling. My companions each had the pasta of the day and both were very satisfied. The outdoor seating would be great during warmer weather but we sat inside on a cooler night and the atmosphere was that everyone was happy with there experience. Certainly worth visiting.

We recommend this restaurant by hotel almost 12 years ago, since then we go every time when visit in San Francisco. Owner and staff are very friendly and you can can feel of Italy. I am very sensitive of seafood but I never have any problems eating in this restaurant because so fresh. I did not want to tell everyone about this place because I don’t want Restaurant to be super busy but people should know this hidden Gem in San Francisco. Portion of food is good, if you want dessert, don’t eat bread too much. They have tables outside and easy to book tables online.

Drinks, food, and desert were all amazing!!! Fell upon this place walking back to hotel and wow am I glad I did! Service was great too

I was surprised to see my check being more expensive than I remembered ordering. After reviewing the check, every other dish was up charged up to 8 dollars and their excuse was that “we still have prices from our winter menu” even though it was April at the time. This incidence was completely unprofessional and their resolution to the problem was absent

Very good appetizers and I took the Clams in spicy tomato sauce with polenta. The best ever!! Also, very good wine to match. Good service! Mr Pino is an outstanding host.

Our second visit to Tiramisu. Very good food, festive environment, friendly welcome, good waiters. Very popular and rightly so.

Belden place off Bush St was recommended by the hotel, decided on Cafe Tiramisu and wasn't disappointed. Good Italian food at a reasonable price in a cosy environment. If your in the district well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed with the fare. Highly recommend

On a business trip to San Francisco, our local contact brought us to Cafe Tiramisu for lunch. It is slightly hard to find, on Belden Street, along side some other nice looking restaurants. Two is us went with some traditional pasta dishes which were prepared perfectly. The other member of our party had a nice salad with Prosciutto and it was excellent as well. Prices were reasonable and the service was efficient. We ate in the outside area - a little noisy, however, nice none the less. I would return.

Had dinner with my partner while in SFO recently. Tucked away down a quaint alley Belden Place, with about four other restaurants, they all have so much charm. If warm enough, dine al fresco. We ate inside and it does get a bit noisy by the open kitchen. Service was great and very attentive. We checked in at Cafe Tiramisu on Facebook and then next day, the staff had posted a reply thanking us for joining them and asking us to like their Facebook page. So cute, so of course we did. :) We had a very authentic Italian experience and the food was very good. I had the roasted chicken breast and the gnocchi was awesome. Walking distance from Union Square hotels.

My husband was craving chicken parmesan and I found a spot that had it on their menu- confused the name and went to Cafe Tiramisu instead. Although it wasn't a menu item, the chef gladly made him chicken parm. and it was absolutely delicious!! I had the sole with risotto and it was also very tasty. Our waiter certainly went the extra mile to be sure our night was perfect. Great little outdoor spot on a side street- well worth the visit

Went here for dinner. The waiters were friendly and our food came very quickly. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary.

Popped in here for a late weekday lunch the week of March 13th. Tucked into a small pedestrian street, Belden Place is a haven in the bustle of the city, lined with French, Italian and even a Catalan restaurant. We opted for Cafe Tiramisu and it certainly didn't disappoint! Due to the later hour for lunch the cafe was quiet, with sun streaming through the skylight above. We each had the 3 course fixed price menu, which offered a nice variety of options for only $30.00 per person. The wine menu was a nice compliment to the food offerings, with a fair mark up on some quality offerings. Our server was attentive and pleasant, and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend!

Came here to watch Italy play Turkey in Euro 2020 and spent at least 4 hours eating some delicious food. Greeted by smiling faces and treated like family throughout our visit. Highly recommended if you are in the neighborhood or want to travel for a flavorful meal with awesome service.

Been there twice while visiting SF and both times thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service has been good as is the overall value. The spaghetti and clams is my favorite. My wife had the papardelli and it was great too.

I have gone to Tiramisu only once for dinner, but plan to return. What an excellent meal. The house red wine was more than acceptable. Need reservations to avoid a wait, but definitely a good place for dinner. They also serve lunch.

The home made pasta in the menu is what convinced me to enter the restaurant. You find the most traditional Italian plates, such as the penne a la arrabiata, which I've chose. It is delicious, very spicy but also savory. Keep some bread slices to finish the plate. Following the restaurant name, I asked for tiramisu as dessert and it really surprised me. Excellent texture and clear notes of all ingredients. The man by the door, which I suppose is the owner, is not the most talkative person and doesn't make great efforts to be kind. I stood up in front of the door for a couple of minutes without a single invitation to come inside. Despite his apparent bad mood, it sounded more as a character than anything else.

We were not expecting a lot. The Belden Place restaurants are always fun and reliable but rarely exceptional. We chose Tiramisu, because of the crowd and an outside table (near the heaters) was available. Perfect Choice! The Carpaccio was truly exceptional - peppered rim, generous and beautifully served. Everything was innovative, fresh and a pleasant surprise. The pastas stood out as exceptional and clearly house made. We decided to try the Tiramisu, which is plenty for 2 people - very good, but perhaps not "life changing". These pastas were as good as we have had in Italy and I will definitely return. Also - the wine list is great. The staff were also exceptional. Friendly, warm, and efficient.

This Italian restaurant is down an alley and you wouldn't just come across it but it is excellent. The food was excellent , I visited with my wife last night and we were both impressed. I had the swordfish and my wife had the lobster ravioli. Both were excellent!! The atmosphere was good, no loud music. The staff were very obliging and didn't rush you Would recommend this restaurant

It was misty and wet this work day! My law classmate who works for the University of California Endowment Office (Mills Building on Montgomery Street, San Francisco) near by, wanted some place close so she can return for an afternoon meeting. I suggested the "restaurant row" on Belden Street, between Pine and Bush Street. And, she was thinking of the same site! We walked by "Sam's place," along the row and settled on "Café Tiramisu." It was lunch time, and the inside restaurant was being fill, as we were seated in the back. "Tony', the host was very friendly and helpful through our stay. Menu was provided. It was easy reading for lunch, as one side of the flyer was the entrees ( meat , fish, pasta, & vegetarian), Salads and appetizers on another side. Wine list by the glass was available too. Price range $10 to $14 per glass. (a little high, depending on the quality of the wine and the capacity of a glass) After that the lunch bread came in a basket with white cloth, not warm at all, but soft. This was served along with olive oil.. We ordered the grilled octopus with avocado, celery and salmoriglion sauce, and our entrees were Sea bass Filet, with white and green asparagus, mushrooms and lobster bisque, one Potato, Ricotta & Spinach Gnocchi, with chopped tomato, basi and mozzarella. For beverage, we just had glasses of water. We ate and chatted with our meals in a warm setting. Every diners around us were chatting loud too. But we were able to enjoy the food and our conversations. Tony came by now and then to check on our needs, as he introduced himself. All in all, it was great to "get out of the cold wet weather of San Francisco . The price was right, food was good, and service was above average! No rushing!

We were spending the day with friends who live in the Bay Area and our friend recommended we try this place. The first surprise was the location. An wonderful alley filled with restaurants with out door seating. The atmosphere was very festive and I can on,y imagine how nice it must be at night. Even on a cold day I would recommend sitting outdoors, you will be warm with the heat lamps and the indoors are a little crowded and stuffy. Both my husband and I had fish, his was the swordfish and I opted for the petrole sole which was absolutely delicious prepared with a piccata sauce and served with a crab asparagus risotto. We all share a trip of deserts that included a berry panatone, cream brûlée and vanilla ice cream. More than enough for two people and good enough for four if all you want is a small taste. Hope to be back here on my next visit.

Excellent authentic Italian in a warm and inviting ambiance. The burrata alia caprese was fresh with a lovely mix of flavours and the veal meatballs were delicious but these were simply the entree on what was to come. The rack of lamb and Arrabbiata with added chicken and spice were sensational! With great friendly service an experience that should not be missed.

Came here with friends the day after Thanksgiving. It's on Belden Place in San Francisco, which is a great little indoor/outdoor cafe street with several good restaurants. We had a reservation and for whatever reason, it took at least 15 minutes to get seated although the restaurant was about half full. I believe they may have been understaffed that evening. Instead of seating us upstairs, they seated us in the "cellar" which is unfortunately where the restrooms are. Because of the poor air circulation, you get the aroma of urine cakes wafting from the restrooms. You also have a steady stream of clients tromping by on there way to use the facilities. Once we were seated, it took another 15-20 minutes for a waiter to "discover" that we were down in the cellar. From there the service didn't get any better. I again believe that they were understaffed. I don't recall what I ate but i do remember everything had the cloying taste of urine cake scent. It may have been ok. My note to establishment would be to beef up the staff and don't seat folks downstairs until you can fix the odor issue. I recommend going to B44 or Plouf.

Fun spot for Italian food in a quaint alley pretty popular place staff is wonderful and the food is great. Spring and summer you can eat inside or outside.

Our 2 families showed up for a 830 reservation and were seated within 5 min. Good start. But, no water for 20 min, no drink order for 40 min and no drinks for an hour and finally got our food order in. Then we were out of many items and we were never told our wine was out as well until a different bottle was brought and almost opened. My wife ordered an appetizer for her entre and was told it was out then wasn't. Then was. So she ordered a salad and it never came. In the end we spoke to the owner who basically shrugged and said we were busy... NO APOLOGY. What a blank....

The tables are very close together because it is all in the Belden Place Alley. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. We all enjoyed our food, but it was pretty pricey for an alley restaurant. (We spent $217 for three people: included wine and dessert.)

My family recently spent three nights in San Fransisco on vacation. On our third night we had dinner at Cafe Tiramisu on Belden Place. It was by far our favorite and most delicious meal we had in San Francisco. Service was welcoming and attentive. Giuseppe was so congenial and made our dining experience so pleasant. We would highly recommend Cafe Tiramisu and will return on our next visit to San Francisco.

Delightful restaurant in a quaint alley-way in the financial district. The pasta was superb. Sauces perfect! And the Tiramisu light and decadent. You don't have to head to North Beach for great Italian!

I had the best pasta de Nero here! Food is spectacular and Antonio gave us the best service. ❤️ If you want to have a real Italian experience, come to this restaurant.

We happened on Beldon Place and chose Tiramisu for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was really flavorful. I especially enjoyed the tomato and corn bisque with crab meat-just the right amount of sweet and creamy. I recommend the prawns, as well. The service wasn't quick however so be prepared to relax a little...you can't be in a hurry here.

Both food and service was impecable. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh, delicate flavor and well presented.

Recommended by our receptionist Jeff. My husband had the most amazing steak and if I'm honest the whole meal and service was perfect from start to end. Words from the husband "best steak ever!" Thank you all so much from the front of house to the chefs, best meal in San Francisco

This is our "Go to Place" in San Francisco and this visit did not disappoint. Hidden in a small alley away from the crowds, this Italian restaurant has wonderful food, service and ambiance. We ate dinner outside in their tent which was pleasant although the noise level was somewhat loud. We had eaten alfresco at this restaurant before, but with heaters and no tent and the atmosphere was quieter, but it may have been in the summertime. We split the burrata and prosciutto appetizer which was excellent and presented in a way that was easy to split and large enough for two. I had the pappardelle pasta with pork & beef ragu and my husband had the branzino fish which was deboned at our table in an excellent way. All was tasty and, of course, we topped off our meal with the tiramisu.

What a great find! Our choices ranged from pasta to fish to gnocchi along with a couple of starters (get the veal meatballs, I'm not a fan of veal.... these were amazing) The food is authentic, prepared perfectly and served with true Italian hospitality and then there is the owner Giuseppe... one of a kind. After dinner he stopped to talk and shared the history of the restaurant, his family, his home town and asked about each of us. He made us feel like we family. What a cool and rare experience today.

While the service was a bit spotty, the food was magnificent. On our arrival someone who seemed the be the manager seated us. (We made a reservation but at 8:30 on a Saturday night, it wasn’t necessary.) After several minutes he took a drink order and said our waiter would be coming to take our order. 15 minutes later our waiter finally came and took our order. OK, not the smoothest start but from then on our waiter was very attentive and the food was sublime. For starters, my wife had the Farmer salad and I had the Burrata crostini, both of which were very good. For entrees, my wife had the ravioli special of the day, with porcini mushrooms and a mascarpone and asparagus purée, which was just delicious. I had the gnocchi in brown butter with a fontina and truffle stuffing. It was superb. The gnocchi were like little pillows of perfection. Not chewy but just melt-in-your-mouth soft and fluffy. They make all their own pasta here and it was perfect. For dessert we had the cannoli, which was out-of-this-world, with a Front Row Cappuccino (with Grand Marnier and creme de cacao), which was intoxicatingly delicious. We are very picky about our cannoli. Many places buy the shells from someone else and add their own filling. Cafe Tiramisu makes their own cannoli, including the shells, which were light and flaky and just all-around scrumptious. All-in-all, an exceptional meal in a lovely, off-the-beaten-path setting.

We ate here on a Sunday night. The restaurant is very nice, but is located in a small alley, which was a little scary at night, in the dark. My hubby had the sole and said it was fantastic. I had ricotta and spinach ravioli. They were good, but nothing special. We had tiramisu for dessert, and it was one of the best we've had. They brought it with a candle in it for our anniversary and brought us 2 shots of limoncello. That was very sweet! We enjoyed our meal and would go back if we go to SF. PS a diner at the next table was vegetarian and dairy free. They made her a special bruschetta to accommodate her needs. I thought that was nice.

My sister-in-law recommended this restaurant as one of her favourite eateries in San Francisco and we were so glad she did! We had a little trouble locating the restaurant at first, but eventually found it and sat outside as it was a nice November day. The waiter was very friendly and was accommodating for my partner's Coeliac condition, explaining which foods could be adapted for Gluten Free. The food was lovely, including the Tiramisu which was one of the best I have had anywhere. Sadly we were not able to return to the restaurant during the rest of our stay, but it will be top priority when we return to San Francisco!

Café Tiramisu was the best meal we had whilst on holiday. Cioppino was a 10/10 for me, one of those dishes that you don't want to end. The sea bass was also great and the ravioli and tortellini also gets the thumbs up - the desserts were pretty good too. As for the service, the proprietor was a great restaurateur and very welcoming and we spoke to him a fair bit about the dishes and wines which was great. Service in the U.S. far exceeds that in the U.K. be it restaurant or retail and this was no exception. Definitely worth a visit and not overly expensive taking into account the quality. The only thing that could be better is that the drinks could be 'longer' G&T / Whiskey and Ginger were too short, ie too strong from an alcohol point of view.

Café Tiramisu was one of the best restaurants ever. The concierge at the St. Regis recommended this to us, Giuseppe Scoppetta, the owner, actually waited on us and made the best recommendations ever. This is a hidden treasure in downtown San Francisco, north of Market, off of Kearny. Everything from the appetizers to the wonderful dessert sampler was fabulous. Don't miss this quaint little restaurant hidden away on a short side street, 28 Belden, 94104 (415) 421-7044. The service, food and everything was excellent. Don't miss this for a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city!

We had great service and delicious food. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night and we enjoyed it.

My wife and I started a nice day in San Francisco at the Palace of Legion of Honor seeing art and the Houghton House showing. I had made dinner reservations for 5:00 P.M. before we left home at 9:00 A.M. We were looking forward to a dinner recommended by KQED Check Please. The host led us to our table, placed the wine list and menus on the table and promptly left without a word before I was even seated. After fifteen minutes a waiter arrived In what might be described in a hurried manner. People at another table who came in after us were waited at least ten minutes before us. The wine I ordered was not the wine I received. I asked to look at the bottle to view the label. It was not what was written in the wine list. Upon leaving and after spending over $100.00 for the two of us there wasn't even a thank you from the host at the door. The alley where the restaurant entrance was located was dingy, dark and in poor condition.

The food and service were top grade. It was a pretty busy/steady night when we went but the server didn’t miss a beat. He was kind and courteous, but most importantly he was on his game. We were served with savoir-faire and the food was outstanding. Lots of veggie choices and good selection of wines. We didn’t do desert, but perhaps on our next trip to San Francisco. We will come back, for sure. If you’re visiting SF, and love good Italian food and great service, be sure to go to Cafe Tiramisu

The atmosphere here is of a typical Italian bistro, not surprising given that the owner is from Rome. The welcome was warm and the food and wine all excellent and reasonably priced. Well with a visit.

My boyfriend and I just got back from SF and this is the only place we want to go back to when we return. We went to dinner upon suggestion of the concierge at our hotel. Our meal was fabulous! We had 3 appetizers, a bottle of wine and a main course. Giuseppe helped us pick the wine, which we loved, and our main course. I need to eat gluten free and felt like this restaurant had many options for me and options my boyfriend liked too. Next time we spend time in SF, we plan on eating here again!

Do what it takes to find Cafe Tiramisu when you're in San Francisco. It's tucked away off the beaten path on Belden Place (near Pine and Kearny) The proprietor is from south Amalfi Coast and the food is some of the best Italian you'll find. There is a primi and secondi special each evening. This is no pretense, authentic, Italian dining in a quaint setting.

I have been eating at Cafe Tiramisu for almost thirty years, but unfortunately, I am moving permanently to Maine very soon. Tiramisu will be one of major things I will miss about CA.. Maybe I can convince Guiseppe and Pino, the owners, to move to Maine! In any case, I am writing to say that last night's Valentine's dinner was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Fantastic lobster bisque with Tarragon butter, poached prawns, cod, fennel, sea herbs and cultured creme fraiche. If that doesn't make you hungry, how about melt-in-your-mouth beef cheeks with celery root puree and roasted baby carrots, or Kurobuta pork chop with faro risotto and hazelnuts and smoked ham pork jus. Finally, the best Tiramisu you'll ever eat for dessert. Tiramisu isn't frou frou, but just simply great Italian fare. No red sauce here, but still terrific pastas, fish and beef. I've eaten in Bologna, Milan, Rome, Siena, Florence, Venice and many small towns in Italy, and I can honestly say I'd rather eat at Tiramisu than any of those places. If you take my word for it and go to Tiramisu, tell Guiseppe I sent you and ask for my table! Mangia!

Quiet Sunday evening - the outdoor seats were only half filled and I didn't see anyone eating inside. Why would we, it was a lovely warm evening (a rarity in February!). The food was excellent. I could not get enough of the asparagus soup with tempura oyster or the pillowy gnocchi. My husband's grilled calamari was patchy, with some meat really tough, but he loved his pappardelle was fantastic. A skip would be the kale salad - the greens were tough and bitter, and not at all balanced by the other ingredients. Where the experience really fell short was the service. We were never offered bread. The server gave my husband his appetizer and salad at the same time - add my appetizer and drinks on the table and there was literally no room left. Our server hardly stopped by, and we were left waiting for our check, even though we could see him leaning against the wall in the lobby. Considering that including the wine the tab was just shy of $200, I was truly surprised at the lapses in service; I expected more. So really "very good" for food, but "poor" for service. I don't regret going, but wouldn't return or recommend it when there are so many other options in the neighborhood.

I travel to San Francisco about 2-3 times a year and always make sure that I visit Giuseppe, his nephew Francesco & Tony at least 1 night for dinner. The ambiance of Belden Place, an alleyway filled with restaurants takes me out of the city and reminds me of the cafes in the piazzas of Italy. After being inside working all day, I thoroughly enjoy sitting outside to enjoy a tremendous meal. Where do I start? The mussels in the pepperoncini & chive sauce is awesome and once the mussels are gone, you've got to "mop" up the sauce with the homemade bread! I've sampled most of the entrees and I always go back to the homemade pastas with the pillowy ricotta gnocchi, my absolute favorite. Don't miss out on this fantastic restaurant, just a short walk off Market St and close to Union Square and tell Giuseppe that Andy from NJ sent you!

From the moment we walked into the restaurant we feel in love. We were seated immediately upon arriving, the wait staff was incredible, the food was superb, reasonable and beautifully prepared and served. We ordered the crab caesar salad which was plenty full of fresh crab. So much so that it looked more like a crab salad with a few pieces of lettuce. Yummy!! We also had the meat balls over polenta and swordfish which was perfectly cooked. What a fabulous gem of a Restuarant. They have a full bar and nice wine list too! I can't wait to go back next time in SF!

While in San Francisco, we looked for an Italian restaurant near our hotel (The Grand Hyatt) and found a listing for Cafe Tiramisu. On nothing more than a whim, and previous reviews on TripAdvisor, I gave it a try. I'm very glad I did! My veal scallopini was delicious! The entire staff was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect . . it's a deep, narrow layout, with pleasant wall paintings that do, in fact, remind one of "old Italy". Nothing pretentious, just nice to look at. A very good bottle of Pinot Grigio certainly didn't hurt my mood. I live 3,000 miles away, so I won't be back for a while, but if this restaurant was anywhere near me, I'd be a regular!

Went with a huge group. We had a Set menu Food decent but nothing special. Interesting.y deserts were the most disappointing. Weight staff worked hard but inefficient service probably related to to few staff

It was excellent. We ordered the bruschetta & octopus with avocado for appetizers. For dinner green salad, clam linguine & red snapper. For dessert the homemade tiramisu- all were excellent. We will return. I loved all the lighted lights up in the alley at night & the fact that you can dine either inside or outside.

Last night we had one of the best dinners ever in SF. We had impeccable service. Wonderful, tasty appetizers and entrees. Complementary limoncello that is house made was delicious. Did I mention, the desserts were all fabulous?! Especially the tiramisu. I would definitely go again and recommend to all my friends and family. A little piece of Italy, right in downtown SF.

We took a group of friends here tonight and loved the food, loved the atmosphere, loved the waiter and even loved the other patrons, who were having a birthday party and brought some champagne to our table. My wife, who is very discriminating about food, loved the sea bass, I thought the sole was great and the pasta was a big hit. We'll be back.

We didn't have a reservation and Antonio was short staffed. The place was full. We asked if we could wait a few minutes and had a glass of wine. 5. I minutes later we were seated and the rest was perfect from the Petrole sole to the Taramisu. Thank you to Antoinio and your friendly and professional staff. We will come back next time in the city.

When we asked the concierge for a recommendation of an Italian restaurant her reply was do you want Expensive or Good. We replied we want good and she highly recommended Tiramisu. The food was really good and the atmosphere was nice.

We found this restaurant in a cracking street with a few nice restaurants & it is only a short walk from Union square. Very good fresh food & the desert of doughnuts filled with custard & with chocolate sauce was a great end to a first class experience, Well worth a visit.

We recently bought an apartment in Scalea, Italy and one of the benefits has been the recommendations we've got for restaurants owned by Scalea expats in the SF Bay Area. Cafe Tiramisu was recommended to us by two separate friends there, both in the restaurant business. Sounded good to us, so we recently had dinner there with some friends. We're so glad we did. First off, we had never been to Belden Place, what a cute little alley lined with restaurants, very European. Cafe Tiramisu is a beautiful, comfy, inviting, place. The other half of our party had smooth sailing into the city and arrived half hour early for our six o'clock reservation, as the weather was bad they headed straight to the restaurant. They texted us that they were seated quickly and were already having drinks. When we arrived, we joined them and we also had our drink orders taken immediately, nice way to start an evening. The menu covered a lot of territory and it was hard to make a descision, and we weren't rushed. I'd say service was very attentive without any feeling of being rushed. To start our friends ordered salads and we ordered a cauliflower puree soup. The salads were beautiful. One a caesar and the other mixed greens, our friends said they were perfect. I almost wished I had ordered a salad, that is until I tasted my soup. It was to die for, very complex but smooth flavors, I could have had seconds, maybe thirds. For main courses we ordered, linguine with clams, papardelle with meat sauce, salmon on a bed of saffron orange sauce topped with a crab hash and whole Branzino fish. We all agreed that our dishes were excellent. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. We also had desserts, the tiramisu and cannoli. We're Tiramisu fans that and this was excellent. I've never been a bit fan of Cannoli, but that's just changed. These were heaven, light crispy containers holding a most wonderful filling, again very complex but subtle flavors. Presentation on all the dishes was beautiful. The kitchen here really knows their stuff. Its flavors you expect with hints of something special. Wait service was on point, as I said attentive but not pushy in any way. Prices were reasonable, especially for the quality of food. We'll be coming back.

Recommended by my hotel concierge, the food was great, the atmosphere too. The location was a bonus - it's situated down an alleyway with European restaurants and bars. I'd recommend and I'd go back! The Beef Rib Ravioli was fantastic!

Tiramisu gave my wife and I delicious food in a somewhat dated but pleasant setting. The roasted pear salad was lovely, the scallops on short rib risotto was delicious as were the veal meatballs on polenta. With one glass of wine each and one tiramisu to share the bill was $88.

The restaurant always has great food, great chef, great wine selection, excellent service, warm ambience. The employees are very attentive and accommodating.

I watched an episode of Check, please! Bay Area where this restaurant was featured. I was excited by the favorable feedback from the guests and enticing video of food that at the next opportunity we had for dinner in the city, this was where my sisters and I went. Food was really good...we had the grilled octopus with avocado and mussels in saffron and fennel pesto sauce for appetizers and shared the black pepper pappardelle bolognese and seafood linguini for entrees. Portions were good. We enjoyed the food so much that my sister and I went back after a few days for the linguini (I ordered the pork chop too). This time around, we got the tiramisu as well, but unfortunately, it was not as good as I had hoped. The ambience of the restaurant was good. That evening, we were told they did not have as many servers, so service was a bit slow and could have been more attentive. I would definitely go back and not hesitate to recommend to others or bring guests.

For our first ever dining experience in San Francisco we were underwhelmed. Service was inattentive and very slow every step of the way, and different wait staff attended our table. The food was delicious including stuffed chicken breast served with asparagus, mushroom and potato and a lovely light parpadelle pasta.

We could not find a lot of nice restaurants in this area. It is on a side street, and hard to find. The short rib ravioli was unusually good, with fresh pasta and a very well made marinara sauce. Worth a visit if you are staying in the vicinity.

We entered this restaurant through a alley, but there is street access as well. The owner served us and was a very personal guy, and the pizza was excellent. It is just down the hill from the Ritz Hotel

The cafe is in an alley, with lots of outdoor tables in a line of restaurants that sit side by side. Reminded me of Paris. Food was great, I had the chicken with roasted brussel sprouts. Great service, huge wine list. Very nice experience.

Sadly, lots of restaurants in SF are now closed due to the Coronavirus, some maybe forever. So we were happy to find several of the restaurants on Belden Place open with outside seating under awnings. Tiramisu was a really nice surprise. We split a salad which was good...but the pizza! Really good! Delicious crust which makes all the difference. For dessert I had to try the tiramisu...because of the name of the place, etc. It also was really good! Not too dry, not to wet, just right and delicious. Now we can't wait to return, we keep thinking about that pizza....

Visiting SF on business and Cafe Tiramisu was recommended by our hotel staff at the Orchard Garden. It was about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and we couldn't have been more pleased with the meal. Highly recommend the cheese plate for an appetizer, the salmon was delicious, good wine, and all for under $50. Highly recommended.

Such a rude hostess. We left because of her. We were in line, waiting for a table, she just let the owner friends pass before us. Rude!

Thanks to our doorman we were directed to Café Tiramisu and what a find! We seated immediately even without reservations. The service was on point and our waiter was very helpful not only with wine suggestions but with the menu as well. He suggested the meatballs for an appetizer and they positively were the best meatballs we have ever eaten. We also ordered the Bolognese which was awesome. We loved Café Tiramisu and will add this a regular visit when in San Fran

This is a small restaurant without a fancy decoration but with excellent food. We had a full-course dinner and everything was delicious. The Tiramisu dessert is the best. Prices are a little high but is worthed.

My husband ordered a steak and he likes his steak well done. He was served a very thick steak that was perfectly well done! Totally amazing. I had a very succulent salmon dish and our friend had the spaghetti. Everything was perfectly prepared. The staff is very attentive and informative. Great place to spend an evening.

Serivice was excellent, food was delicious, but portions are pretty small. Plouf was closed and we were freezing cold, so we tried the next-door restaurant, Cafe Tiramasu. The food was good, the bread was sourdough, they brought wine. When we got the bill, the prices were higher than on the menu for two of the five people. We asked about this and our waiter told us that they have a new computer and that it messed up. I wonder how many people he has told that to? In any case, he quickly changed it, but I thought that was pretty sleazy.

Recommended by a friend and totally worth it. Got the cheese plate tester to start. She got Pappardelle pasta and I had meatballs. Great wine and great service. Will be back.

Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant for dessert. Our group of 4 women arrived and asked the hostess to see the dessert menu. She gave us the dessert menu and after a couple of minutes asked if we would like to be seated inside or out. We said outside. There was an empty table for 6. She then said, oh, we don't serve only dessert. WHAT??? Then, why did you let us look at the dessert menu? So we went right next door to Cafe Bastille, and they were more than happy to serve us coffee and dessert. And their menu was far better anyway. BTW, that table for 6 was never filled. As they say, "A bird in the hand, is better than 2 in the nest!"

There with family & friends on a recommendation. We felt welcomed and special. The service was edgy italian & fun. Very engaged staff, you could tell they took pride in the place. Food was varied and excellent, from pasta to the fish to the rack of lamb. Was a hidden gem as someone else wrote. I highly recommend.

Had dinner tonight at Cafe Tiramisu. The initial order taking was a little slow but when the food came it was worth the wait. We started with the Bruschetta and Red Beet Salad, good sized tasty portions. Main course was a very nice Penne Arrabiata, spicy tomato sauce, mushrooms and goats cheese - very nice. Would recommend this restaurant.

It is hard to choose my preterite dish .... all the menu is great ,,however need to try the Mussels as appetizer and the ossobuco as main course ad without saying their tiramisu

Started with the Bruschetta which was done with prosciutto which we've never had done that way, so good. My daughter ordered the veal scaloppini and I ordered the short rib ravioli, both were to die for. Such amazing flavor. We sat outside on the heated patio but the interior was quite unique.

When we arrived, the place only had a few tables, so we asked if we could sit side by side at a 4-top and people watch while we ate. The young hostess asked the manager who said no. Needless to say, the restaurant never got any busier and many 4 tops were empty the whole night. We shared the grilled calamari which was good ( with char marks which we prefer), it was served with avocado slices. Also good. Then we had fettuccine with goat cheese and mushrooms, and sides of Brussel sprouts and asparagus. All in all we won't return because we didn't like the atmosphere at all. Felt like a tourist trap with an insolent manager.

A convenient location in the Financial District. Very good food. Enjoy sitting outside and dining al fresco. Great servers and nice wine selection

Went there for a late dinner. Sat outside on a beautiful nite. Service was excellent. Food was great. I had Veal Saltimboca which was on the bone. Nice and light and was great. My wife had the Risotto which she loved. Our friends also enjoyed their pasta dishes. The owner Giuseppe stopped by and said hello and asked how the food was. Overall Gem of a find !!

We stopped in for team lunch. Service was friendly and overall excellent. All meals were well presented and delivered together on time. We all tried different dishes and everyone was please. I'll be back.

Small establishment with dark, cozy, romantic ambience, but pretty noisy for al fresco dining on weekend nights --- drunk young kids laughing, joking, swearing at the top of their lungs. Anyways service was great, price was mid-range, and the taste of the food was fit for the Roman gods. Freshly baked complimentary bread and pesto-in-olive-oil dip, roasted salmon with creamy veggie couscous, and basil and tomato gnocchi. Worth having to sit through loud drunk kids' lame flat jokes. Wouldn't mind coming back for more.

Hidden away with what looks like an alley with outdoor tables & nice lighting. They give you fresh bread & a wonderful oil mixture as you arrive. Started with The Caesar salad, Arugula Salad & ahi tuna everything was really good with wonderful flavors. then had Black Peppert Pappardelle & Rigatoni which were both delicious. You Must make room for dessert especially if you like Tiramisu which I happen to love & this is probably the best I have ever had as I have traveled all over the country! Nice portion for $9 They have a dessert sampler that looks wonderful too & reasonably priced $18.

This was our first meal in San Francisco after a long flight from London. We ate outside which was very pleasant. We were looking for a light un complicated dinner which is just what we got. Not exceptional but just what we needed. Service was efficient and friendly. Portions were European size rather than American but for us Brits was just perfect for the occasion. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a taste of Italian food

Went here on the recommend of our concierge and she was right. The interior is really neat, kind of old school. The food is wonderful, the service is enjoyable, just don't expect to be fawned over.. Large portions of really good seafood dishes. I had the cioppino and it was fantastic. My wife had a sautéed seafood paste dish that was every bit as good. Wash it down with a couple of anchor Steams and life is good.

We were looking for another restaurant when we found this alleyway by accident. This was by far the busiest on the row and we followed the crowds! It was very busy and we sat by the open kitchen watching the staff beavering away. Service was pretty good, we enjoyed the dinner rolls and pesto oil. Had beef pappardelle and it was great and very reasonably priced. Really convenient for anyone staying at the Omni hotel.

Although the name of the restaurant says 'cafe' and lists a famous dessert, the owner does not want to serve just dessert. So if you do go, you must order a meal. The hostess doesn't seem to know this rule, because like another reviewer, we didn't know until after we were seated. Owner let us stay since it was slow, and of course the tirimusu was excellent, but we heard the speech and felt obligated to leave quickly. Rated average because of experience, dessert was fantastic!

Our service was very good - Claudio was attentive and polite. My favorite part of the meal was the tiramisu, easily shared by 2 persons. My corn and leek soup topped with spicy shrimp was also good. Hubby's Napa valley glass of merlot was good too, $12. I was not so wowed by the entrees. My pan seared sea bass was generous but there was nothing spectacular as special of the day. The fish was cooked just right. Hubby had the clams/seafood risotto which came with 11 small clams. He liked his dish. His appetizer of grilled octopus served between slices of avocado was good but he liked my soup more. Nice place to eat. We didn't want to sit outdoors and dine in the alley way. Streets of SF are dirty at times. Don't sit downstairs. Hubby had to go downstairs to use the bathroom where there are about 7 tables and said it smelled like mildew.

I was staying at a local hotel in the city and asked the staff where I could get a meal at a late hour. They recommended I check out a number of international restaurants in Belden Place. I think there were at least 6 restaurants in what I would describe as a hole-in-the-wall laneway. I chose Cafe Tiramisu. The decor is very Italian and seemed to be staffed by Italians. I splurged on an expensive Napa Valley Red to accompany Gnocchi and a steak. The meal was likely the best food I have ever had and was not that expensive when I compare it to similar restaurants. It was even better than the same meal I had a few days later at Robert De Niro's fave restaurant in West Hollywood.

Service as good as the food! This little gem is tucked away on a cute little side street. If you can, make a reservation, but it is not necessary. We sat outside under the heaters and were very comfortable. Strongly recommend the Gnocchi with truffles. They were great about making more kid friendly dishes for the kids.

We ate at this restaurant twice during our stay in San Francisco and it was only twice because we didn't find out about it until our last 2 days. It was recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel. It seems to be in a kind of off the beaten path back alley, and I was unsure whether I wanted to go down the back alley when I first saw it but boy am I glad we did. The food was so great that I ordered the same thing each night and so did my husband. I had pasta carbonara and it was so delicious that I actually made it when we got back home. The tiramisu for dessert was the best that we have ever eaten. If you go to San Francisco defiantly make this restaurant a go to.

Great Evening was had by all Risotto excellent Papperdelle excellent Ciopinno fantastic Gnocchi great You can’t fault this restaurant we ate and drank like kings / queens Service was a little bit slow but not to get upset by Definitely go back

Three of us had dinner here. Our appetizers - tomato/corn broth with Dungeness crab, house salad with baby greens, veal mealballs over polenta, were 5 star. I have tried for years to perfect Italian meatballs, and mine cannot compare with Tiramisu's. I'm afraid I'm forever spoiled. But we ate so much we could only eat a little of our entrees: risotto with lobster bisque & wild mushrooms, pasta and sliced pork. But the little that we did eat of them was delicious. Service was a little erratic - started out great, but as it got busier we had to wait for our check. Really good Italian food, and this little restaurant has outdoor seating as well.

Just finished a wonderful dinner here. The restaurant is tucked away in a little alley where other very good restaurant resides. We were quickly welcomed and seated. We opted to sit inside. The service was excellent. The grilled octopus was tender and very flavorful. The fish of the day was halibut over a bed of black rice served with many clams, mussels and crab meat... very good. The pasta of the day was ravioli stuffed with Oslo buco over puréed butternut squash with wild mushrooms over the top was delicious but quite pricey for 4 pieces. The rigatoni with meat sauce was large and good. The tiramisu was outstanding. There is street parking, but read the signs or you may get a terrible surprise. Parking garage are only several blocks away.

I have been going to Cafe Tiramisu for more than 20 years. First, for business lunches when I worked in downtown San Francisco, later for family events (birthdays, etc.), and now for special occasions like New Year's eve, as we recently did now that we are retired and living out of town. I have recommended Tiramisu to many visitors, all of whom reportedly were very pleased. Unlike most Italian restaurants, Tiramisu is not a red sauce and meatballs kind of place, but rather Northern Italian with a relatively unique and delicious menu (think grilled octopus, veal meatballs, pappadelle with beef and pork ragu, mussels and clams over squid ink pasta, etc.). In addition to delicious appetizers and entrees, the desserts (especially the dessert sampler) are the best I have had in the city and not to be missed, even when you are full! Just wash it down with an espresso after or a shot of grappa! On top of the great food, the service overseen by owner Giuseppe is excellent and friendly. After a while you feel like you are part of the family. To top it off, prices are reasonable for San Francisco with entrees from $18-$30. So when you find yourself in San Francisco, wondering where to go for a good meal, try Cafe Tiramisu (if you can get in). You won't be disappointed. Tell Giuiseppe that Tom Anderson sent you!
limoncello to die for
outstanding service and one of the best restaurants bar none. the Cesar salad was light and flavorful. their ingredients must be top notch because the salad left me wanting more and gave me much anticipation of what was to follow. had the veal scallopini and it was tender enough to cut with a fork. we almost passed on dessert and i'm glad we didn't. ordered the tiramisu and our waiter surprised us with some limoncello to savor. thought i'd died and gone to heaven. the aroma of the limoncello almost brought tears to my eyes. would love to have their recipe. i've never tasted anything so wonderful. he explained it was home made as are most of the desserts. well, we were not disappointed and if it hadn't been our last night in the city, we would have gone back again. what a wonderful oasis after a long day of walking the city. i highly recommend this restaurant. can't wait to return. i only wish they played some italian music while we dined.
