Delicious!!

By Lewis C |

We were looking for a late afternoon snack before having dinner with our daughter. The sandwich we shared (the Bruschetta) was excellent and we wanted to order a second one but didn't want to spoil our dinner. But we will definitely be back in the near future. Great coffees too.

Widely overrated

By EUWorldtraveler |

Next to the Travelodge and close to Windansea in La Jolla, it seemed the perfect spot for a quick lunch. The place is small and dark, with a few additional tables on a tiny patio in the front. They serve mostly sandwiches/paninis with choice of bread and in combo with a small salad for lunch, plus a few specials that were not (yet/anymore?!?) available at noon. Maybe I was the unlucky one, but my panini was under baked, the ham was not fresh, and the whole thing just bland. The salad was in much better shape, although still below expectations. Water is self-serve inside, but the dispenser was empty, and remained so even after asking for water (which we received from the back, tap water in tiny plastic glasses). We got coffees after lunch, but should have known better, as my cappuccino was probably the worst I ever had. Prices are ok and staff is friendly, but overall I don’t understand the high ratings.

Simply AWESOME!

By Boki89 |

For me it was the most delicious breakfast I ever had in the US! OFC, it's a question of taste :-) highly recommend! I noticed, that many locals came to have breakfast there as well. Further I wanna mention the very friendly and customer oriented waiter (who's name I unfortunately forgot,..).

Delicious scrambled eggs

By Angelica S |

I bought a regular coffee, scrambled eggs, and multigrain toast. It is very delicious. Total price was $6.57. A bit steep, but it's located in La Jolla...so you know what they say about location, location, location. Anyhow-I would certainly return. By the way-the cashier was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Lunch

By Alaninphoenix |

Stopped in after a nice walk from downtown La Jolla. We shared the Vahiks Salad (tasty with fresh greens and a nice dressing) that was huge and the Yellow Fin Tuna Panini. Tasty all around.

Great Breakfast

By Ssadelle1776 |

Owners were super nice, great bagel bfast, seating outside. People got salads next to us and they looked amazing. Will come back for sure.

Stumbled upon a great spot

By Matt P |

Staying on WindanSea Beach in La Jolla. Came upon Cafe Vahik on an early morning walk. Stopped in, had a wonderful breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, multi-grain toast for $6! I'm not a coffee drinker, but my wife is - says the coffee was delicious.

Unexpected Pleasure

By Billy B |

A tiny place set on the corner of La Jolla Blvd and Playa del Norte, Cafe Vahik is a gem of an eatery. Vatic, the owner, and his wife are open primarily for Breakfast and Lunch through about 4pm each day. The breakfast menu includes a daily special of Eggs and Bacon for just $6.00 and an array of tasty bagels which can be done with a schmear or as a breakfast sandwich. Lunch items I have had include a Turkey sammie as well as the best thing on the menu, a Yellow Tail on Chibata bread, Yellowtail fish sauteed with garlic & parsley, tomato, lettuce, avocado, and wasabi mayo, which is not only a bargain at $9 but absolutely delicious! Their coffee's are on par with most other coffee houses but his are definitely better than most. The Mayan Mocha is one of my favorites with Espresso, Mayan chocolate and steamed milk. Top it off with some Hot Pepper Powder and you have a drink that will knock your socks off! They take cash or credit and even though you place your order at the counter, you do not have to pay until you are finished, if you are eating in. There are a handful of tables inside as well as 4 on the outside patio facing La Jolla Blvd. Make a point of stopping in when you are in town. They are lovely people and have earned my business again and again!! Enjoy!

Good food, Good prices, Great services

By Bevi1083 |

This gem is located right next to the Travelodge in La Jolla. My hubby, who never eats at the same place twice on vacation, ate breakfast here 2 times, and would have gone back a third time if we weren't pressed for time. All of the food is prepared to order, and is excellent. The egg sandwiches are really good, and the coffee is great. Kudos Vanik, keep up the good work. Hope to see you again!

Another hidden Gem

By Michael S |

Cafe Vahik is a hidden gem that we discovered right outside the steps of our hotel. Really,186 steps outside our hotel room. Great coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Everyone seems to know each other in this friendly place. Highly recommend

Starbucks should watch out

By MEFPen |

Have eaten breakfast here several times. They have amazing coffee. The food is creative, fresh and delicious. I do not see how they provide such quality for their reasonable prices. It is a great neighborhood secret. Oops maybe I should not let the secret out!

Best coffee we had in the US

By Sarah |

We had breakfast at Cafe Vahik as it was directly next door to our hotel. Great find. Owner was extremely friendly. Service was quick and very everything was reasonably priced especially for the area. Other customers were also very friendly. Food was tasty and the coffee was the best we’d had whilst visiting the US. My son also enjoy his smoothie. Thank you!

Great breakfast spot!

By Dot |

Great food, people and service. My son and I ate here twice while we were staying across the street at Holiday Inns and Suites La Jolla. Excellent food at great prices. The owners are very sweet and appreciative of your business. I would recommend! I would recommend the bagels and omelettes because that is what we had! Hard working people too! That is who I love supporting and giving my business too during this time!!!

Love cabin

Best breakfast in San Diego. We were staying next door at the Shoal and ate here three mornings in a row. Different breakfast each day. Fabulous omelette and breakfast bagels. Very reasonable. A ma and pa establishment with lots of charm

YOU. MUST. EAT. HERE.

By Your Storybook Smile |

Fantastic food and service! My sisters, daughter and I went here for breakfast today. We ordered 3 Baja burritos with added avocado and 1 bagel with lox. Our drinks were a mocha blend (the perfect combo of bitter/sweet/coffee) and protein shakes (a delicious smoothie of egg white protein/bananas/almond mik/ice). Everything was absolutely delicious and environment was so relaxed. My daughter goes to school here in San Diego and was instantly trying to figure out how to get back to the cafe with her friends. My daughter said "you can taste every ingredient in this burrito!" and my sister said her lox bagel was "the most incredible lox bagel I've ever had." The Baja burritos were HUGE!

Good value

By ciaoallan |

Very nice little place. $6 breakfast special very good deal. Would be 5 stars if they had ceramic dinner and coffee ware as well as full service.

Quality food with an entertainment factor

By Nugie |

We stayed in a rental a couple of blocks from this convenient breakfast, coffee and lunch spot on La Jolla Blvd in La Jolla, and were very fortunate to have discovered it. Grabbed a coffee there the first time, my latte was hot and tasty and Vahik’s genuinely friendly service made me feel invited. He’s a lot of fun. Went back on day two, more lattes and added in a California omelet, subbing ham for the turkey which was no problem whatsoever. Delicious, and a nice multigrain toast too. They are anxious to please at this tiny café up the street from Windansea Beach. Day 3, a bagel from across the street but more lattes from Vahik, and this time I tried the soup of the day, Portuguese kale, freaking awesome. Loaded with vegetables, tasted great, as good as my own although Vahik told me his was better. Spunky! Split a Rambling Roast Beef panini with hubs, delicious, and hubs had a nice Caesar salad. Vahik likes to chat and he’ll keep you entertained if you are so inclined. So three great experiences at this café, next time I stay in La Jolla I’m going to give him more business!

Cafe Vahik is a local favorite

By LynnLaumann |

I live a few blocks away and this is our go-to spot for a quick breakfast with friends and family. I enjoy the bagel sandwiches and omelettes. We had relatives in town a few times this summer, and this became their favorite breakfast spot for good reason.

Very nice

By goismymiddlename |

After reading the reviews to this place I decided to try it. Was very happy I did. The nicest lady waited on me. Very helpful and super friendly. Made me feel like I had gone home. Anyway prices were good. Food was great and I will highly recommend this place to family and friends.

Hidden Gem

By Heidi T |

My friends and I came here for breakfast one day, açaí bowls another and lunch another. It really the only place in walking distance to where we stayed, but we were ok with it. The ceviche really is amazing. They give you free salad if you are eating in house. Their coffee drinks are incredibly smooth and creamy. Their açaí bowls are generous portions for the price. The people working are very friendly and work quickly.

Vahik rocks

By sapphire_tyger |

The owner is super nice and the food very tasty. The atmosphere is charming. Affordable and huge portions. No complaints!

A real sleeper

By Jeff and Carol N |

Great breakfast, lunch, coffee directly across the street (LJB) from Holiday Inn Express. Plain exterior belies a real treasure. If I were a mile or two away, I'd walk to get here. If I were unfortunate enough to be staying more than a couple of miles away, I'd drive here. The place is excellent.

Amazing Eggs

By Jim S |

Local place with great food - two of my favorite things in life. We didn't have anything but the basics for breakfast but really enjoyed what we had. After spending a small fortune at some of the main La Jolla restaurants it was nice to find a place that was a lot more affordable.

Great food, prepared with customer in mind

By arcoccia |

Great place for breakfast or lunch. Tried this place because it was right next to our hotel, then returned the next day because it’s great food at reasonable prices. This is not a fast food joint, the food is prepared by caring owners, who go out of their way to please their customers. We can definitely recommend the smoked salmon bagel and the farmers bagel, and the coffee is the best we had on our trip.

Vunderful Vahik!

By Randy G |

We were looking for a lox and cream cheese bagel and boy did we luck out! Cafe Vahik has wonderful warm service and the "Lux Bagel" was absolutely incredible. Smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, purple onion and tomato on an everything bagel! DELICIOUS!!! Very impressed with this little cafe and we will make it a regular stop whenever we are in La Jolla!

Delivers every time!

By Sir_Hugoagogo |

My wife and I first visited here two years ago on a previous to La Jolla and like it so much we searched it out again on this trip. It’s great. Simple breakfast food cooked well and at a great price. It is always full of locals which says it all. This time we had the breakfast bagel with egg ham and cheese. The quantity was great and washed down with excellent coffee and hot English breakfast tea. If you are looking for breakfast in La Jolla look no further, Cafe Vahik is brilliant.

A really superb slice of local friendliness and good coffee

By iheartannarbor |

Love this place. Perfect spot to pop in for yummy coffee, delicious sandwiches, snacks and to observe some of the locals enjoying their morning cup of joe. Lovely!

Charming friendly cafe serving breakfast & lunch

By ip_diva |

Warm and friendly cafe serving breakfast, lunch and complete service of coffee drinks. I came her both for breakfast (omelette) and lunch (salad). Both meals were delicious. The owners are warm and friendly and want to be sure you are happy with your meal.

Surprise find next to the Travelodge

By Philippe T |

Delicious, copious omelette without robbing the bank, with prompt and friendly service. I walked in, was greeted immediately and after choosing my omelette (the California: it has everything in it!!, Avocado, bacon, cheese, tomato...), the cook brought it to my table (I feel he may be one of the owners too, based on the kind of attention and service he was offering). I was treated nicely, and it was nice to see locals there, based on their interactions with the other staff/owners.

Great breakfast or lunch cafe

By Sheila A |

Great place for breakfast or lunch! This cafe is obviously a favorite for locals, who are well known to the couple who run it. The food is delicious and fresh. I loved the farmers bagel, which had eggs scrambled with goat cheese, spinach, and tomatoes. We will be regulars during our stay!

Energized Breakfast

By Tokala |

We were going to winandsea Beach and needed breakfast for a busy day of beaching and swimming and this Cafe didn't disappoint. I needed coffee and got a coffee with an espresso shot. Just what I needed. The couple works so hard and they are super friendly. I wanted a lox bagel and the owner said, with sesame seeds-that's the best *wink* pfft ya it was! The Cali burrito, so fresh and huge! Yup, so great and so are the prices. We were sitting near a gentleman who said he was a food critic and just got back from traveling. So if he's there casually breakfast noshing then yes you are in the right spot. Seems like a local hangout, I would be there every weekend if I lived there!

WOW - this place is a gem!

By Rachel Z |

Food and staff are excellent. Our family stopped in for a casual dining experience and thoroughly enjoyed two of their lunch specials, ceviche and a yellowtail sandwich. Our toddler couldn't get enough of her special grilled cheese and salad with citrus vinaigrette dressing. (Yes, our toddler even liked their salad.) You should try it if you're in the area. We felt spoiled. Thank you!

GREAT VALUE!

By Ned K |

My wife and I have ridden our bikes past this cafe a thousand times and finally today we had lunch here.We ordered a couple of Caramel Macchiatos (1 hot & 1 iced) and a Ham Diegan toasted sandwich on fresh sourdough bread to share. We decided to sit inside because it was a bit hot on the patio. The sandwich arrived at our table first followed a few minutes later by our coffees. The sandwich was nicely presented and well made...it tasted excellent. Our coffees tasted rich and satisfying. We will definitely come back here again!

More than meets the eye

By StefanieMD_69 |

Upon rolling up on this cafe we were a little unsure, but the reviews were good and there was a giant "A" from the DOEH, so here we go. So glad we did. The service was brisk but not bullish and the food was wonderful. We realized that this place puts stock in efficiency and serving a great product. If you want a kiss on the head you can get that from the guy or gal you are sitting across the table from. If you want good food and coffee in a quick and efficient manner this is the spot for you. So again don't be fooled by the outside, it is what is inside that counts!

Great Sandwiches

By lorretta5 |

This place has such a great location to Wind n Sea... It is now Cafe Vahiks but its the same place same owner and the same amazing food!! Grab a sandwich and an iced coffee and hit the beach. Breakfast and lunch is served up by Vahik himself!!!

Best place to eat

By Travel26063288491 |

This place is simply fantastic. The food is always good. Vahik and Armando are simply fantastic. The coffee is delicious. Priced very reasonable.

Excellent Americano and Expresso.

By Iceman21893 |

Really nice low key place for a quiet breakfast or lunch. Owners are great servers and chef's. Like to stop by every morning.

Absolutely the most awesome breakfast place I ever visited

By Daniel65536 |

What I like... 1) The people, starting with Vahik. He is always friendly, funny and just great to be around 2) The omelettes, especially the California one, the bagels, the sandwiches, oooohhh... the Caesars Salad is also great... to be honest I did not have a single piece of food in 24 days which I would consider to be bad... very few I found average (more because of my personal taste), most were just great. They also have a nice soup of the day. 3) The small cafe itself... it has real atmosphere. 4) The banana shakes. What I do not like.... Uhm, I could not make Vahik relocate to my place in Germany. Really.. there's really nothing much not to like. I cannot comment on the coffee, though, as I am not a coffee drinker. But this place made a person, who considers breakfast marginally interesting at best a devoted breakfaster. Oh, and you can also call and order, if you are in a hurry. So yes, I am a devoted fan you could say..

Great Food With Amazing Prices

By mseichi |

We were staying at a hotel right across the street and while waiting for our room to be ready, the staff suggested we visit this place for a good, inexpensive lunch. They were right on with their suggestion. We both had the half sandwich and half Caesar salad lunch combo ($8) and both salad and sandwiches were great. I did like the fact that the restaurant staff made some great recommendations on the sandwiches, since they do have a lot to choose from. Since we had our dog with us, we sat on their small patio space in front of the restaurant. While small, we still had some room to maneuver with our 50lb dog and the both of us. If you want a great quality and priced lunch with a friendly staff, definitely come here.

Yumma

By iheartannarbor |

Cafe Vahik, Wind and Sea Cafe, whatever you'd like to call it these days--IS A MUST. Delicious bagel creations, salads, omelettes--all made to order to perfection. The staff are lovely, chatty, hilarious and serve excellent coffee. If you sit around long enough, you get a fantastic slice of local life and antics--which in my book adds fun and joy to the atmosphere. Thank you Vahik--you are a true businessman and your staff rocks! YUMMY!

Stopped in for breakfast with the kids

By lukedeleo |

We stopped in here our second night at Travelodge. It is right next door and had your gourmet coffee's, tea's, and breakfast was great. Its a small little restaurant but great for swinging in to grab a bite to eat. Great quality and service.. Family owned and operated. We enjoyed it!

Great location, friendly service

By aerofaze |

This café was conveniently located up the street from our cottage and within walking distance of Windansea Beach. I went there only once, but Hubs visited twice. The first time was just after the lunch hour, and several tables had yet to be bussed. However, we were immediately greeted by the nice woman who was cleaning up behind the bar. The interior was dim even though large windows lined along one side of the wall due to the dark paint motif. There was a coffee menu on a chalkboard, so we just picked something simple along with milk alternatives. Our iced coffees were quite tasty, and we took them back down to our cottage. Hubs returned the next day and got a slightly different iced drink, and he said it was pretty good as well. If we ever stay in the area again, I’d like to see what food menu is all about!

Delicious breakfast!

By Laura M |

We stopped in after reading all the great reviews. It didn't disappoint. I ordered the Californian bagel and my boyfriend got the eggs and bacon. It was fresh and delicious. The staff was so friendly. We will probably be back tomorrow.

Good for simple breakfast

By mkemows |

This was located next door to our stay at the Travelodge La Jolla and we found the basic breakfast tasty and at a fair price. We would return again to the friendly staff and try some of their other breakfast fare.

Small place, great paninis

By Yan S |

Everything was fresh, I got Chickenini and it was great. Yellowtail salad was very tasty. Small place without 3 tables outside and few inside - definitely recommended for breakfast or lunch.

Great friendly service & food

By Nocotravelgal |

Best veggie omelet ever! We have been here numerous times & the food is always delish, the coffee excellent, & the owners delightful! Be sure to get your daily wisdom from the digital message board above the cooler :-) this place is a must visit every time we come to the area.

excellent small cafe

By travel_hound |

Very friendly staff and good coffee, breakfast options. Next door to Shoal Hotel which doesn't do breakfast. The breakfast burrito is very good.

Superb Food, Strange Service

By TwoRoflers |

I had a breakfast vegetarian omelette and my wife had eggs and bacon on toast. My omelette was probably one of the best I've ever had. It was superb. My wife's was nice, although the bacon was a bit overdone. We were provided with aluminium forks, but no knives. When we asked for knives, we were given really small plastic ones. Odd. I was also charged 50c for water, whereas every other place gives it to you for no extra cost. I wasn't told about this, but saw the guy add it on at the till very quickly while inputting the other items. Cost isn't the issue, but it seemed a bit underhand. Venue isn't wonderful, but it was packed, so guessing that the rest of the food is as good as my omelette was.

Skip the "free" hotel breakfast and come HERE!

By Rebecca M |

I've been to San Diego/LaJolla numerous times but driving up La Jolla Blvd, didnt notice this small gem. Now that I found it, it will be a part of every trip to the area. Our hotel "'free" breakfast across the street was over too early for us. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as we went instead to Vahik's for breakfast It's so good, we returned several additional times every day of our trip. The bagel sandwiches are delicious--we ordered the Mediterranean and lox/cream cheese on "good grain" bagel. The espresso drinks are excellent. We had both almond and regular lattes. Vahik, according to a sign back where the brewed coffee is, gets the beans from a local specialty roaster --vive la difference! This is a popular neighborhood place. Vatic said he's been here about ten years. There's evidently a loyal local following. It was busy but not overwhelming or noisy, every time we were here both for breakfast and lunch. There's a comfortable outdoor area under an awning. The owner, and the assistant who was there, are pleasant and patient, even during busy times. Perfect start to a LaJolla day? Start at Vahik's, order a takeaway espresso drink, and a sandwich, and stroll to nearby (5 minutes walk) Windandsea Beach where you can enjoy the Pacific ocean view. We'll be back for more!

Great Spot to Grab a Coffee

By Averyslyfox |

We decided to stop by here because we were staying in the area and we had a great experience. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and politely answered any of our questions. The coffee was delicious! My brother got their Chai Latte and said it was the best one he's ever had. Everything on the menu was reasonably priced and each of us enjoyed what we ordered. We didn't try the paninis this time, but next time we are in the area we will for sure - they look delicious! Definitely stop by here!

Lunch

By Lena R |

Stopped for lunch with my family. Food was great ! We ordered salad, chickenini and breakfast eggs . Everything was delicios ,fresh, and for a good price. The place is small and we liked better an outdoor sitting.

Small venue but quite good food.

By rangertex |

We only experienced the restaurant at breakfast. The coffee was really good and the ham and cheese breakfast bagel with pesto was tasty and jut right for breakfast. Just a few tables inside and out so you might not find a place to sit.

Yummy Eats at the Vahik

By mom2groms |

Reasonably priced breakfast eats. Extra friendly owners, quick and delicious egg plates, bagel sandwiches, fresh coffee. A gem!

Close to beach but average taste

By Ambience B |

This cafe appeared to be really cute and I had read great reviews about it.. So we tried it.. My husband liked the sandwich and salad on the side, especially the dressing was super tasty- but for me, it didn't cut it. May be it was the chicken sandwich I ordered - but it was too bland for my taste.. The decor wasn't any great either.. just a regular cafe - though the hosts were polite. Its also close to the beach. Price was so so.

CAFE VAHIK next to Travelodge in La Jolla

By Scott S |

Great little neighborhood restaurant. They have the best omelets - the Mediterranean is so delicious, probably the best omelet I've ever had, and its been consistently great every time I come in. And the salads are amazing. Though I've never had the bagel sandwich, they look so good too! This cafe is a true gem.

Great coffee

By Loudnorthernbird |

and also very nice sandwiches! friendly place, where the locals go-always a good sign! Also great muffins (cupcakes?)

Vacation Breakfast

By HollywMarine |

After testing out spot on 1st day of vacation, I was convinced this was the place for the rest of the week. Food and service was wonderful, and owners (engaged couple) was very, very nice. You won't regret your stop.

Simply Delicious

By TravisWBedding |

Stopped in for a late lunch because the cafe was so close to our motel. The waiter was friendly and the food was fantastic.

Sublime Yumms

By Kristi Z |

For those who love coffee/espresso or would like to try some amazing bagel sammies, this is the place. Not too long ago it was taken over by the new owners who have done a great job with the food and coffee. The bagels come from a local bakery and let me tell you, I would drive down to La Jolla from LA just to have the grain bagel with its many seeds on top. The sandwich I had was made with turkey, avocado, swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Doesn't seem all that special I know but with that soft on the inside/slightly crunchy on the outside grain bagel, WOW! My husband is a former barista and very picky about his espresso. He said the espresso here is one of the best he has had. Great vibe of a place to hang out in a morning with friends. The breakfast bagel looked awesome too that our friend had. I imbibed on hot chocolate which wasn't made with the usual Hershey syrup (which I do not like) and I know this was one of the best hot chocolates I have had in a very long time. Check it out.

Wonderful little place!

By Brice |

This was right around the corner from the awesome hotel we stayed at. Yummy food, staff (owners?) remembered us after the first visit. We only ever ate breakfast, but someday will come back & try lunch as I am sure it’s equally delish. Best coffee of the trip. Don’t miss out!

Great Breakfast!

By C L |

Stayed next store at Travelodge & they recommended them for breakfast. Delicious omelets & breakfast sandwiches. Great $ value. We noticed that the locals were regulars too. Well worth it! Wishing the owners continued success.

Best breakfast sandwich perhaps in the world

By RnsTravels |

At least the world I’ve traveled. The coffee is absolutely delicious, we have had many of the bagel sandwiches and omelettes Every time served incredibly fresh, and it’s like watching a well oiled machine as they work their magic behind the counter. Your treated like family and I look forward to going in every time! I had asked for the American Bagel but altered it a bit to have it on their multi grain bread and added fresh jalapeños that they even seeded for me!!! When you are in La Jolla, you must go here and experience a local gem!

You Must Eat Here!

By Danielle H |

Cafe Vahik is the best!! Whenever my friends and I are vacationing in La Jolla, we make sure we eat breakfast here. The food is made to order, reasonably priced, and portions are a nice size. The best part is the friendly, welcoming, and prompt service. You will not be disappointed.

So stimulating and not boring, best practise breakfast

By Oulisse |

Crispy well-filled sandwich variations, mamma pastra or roast beef full, omelette, bowls, croissants, breakfast specials, coffee, latte, mocha, cappuccino or espresso, all there, quick, very good, cozy, frequently visited and recommended by those who live nearby. Pack a delicious breakfast and walk the 300m to the beach and wipe out there on a bench or a stone! This is how sunny days begin in the best of moods.

An delightful surprise about this fresh cafe

By Anna L |

I usually love sandwiches. But this place just makes the most hearty sandwiches with fresh ingredients. Also they are not skimpy in the meats or cheese. I was greeted by the owner who is very pleasant and dedicated. The sandwich came with a very decent salad. I will call it a very complete meal.

Great Coffee. Good Food.Close to Beach

By Polka Dots & Pixie Dust |

This place is hidden next to the Travelodge in La Jolla and has an excellent Mayan Mocha. For breakfast there are bagel sandwich choices or omelets. You can have avocado on everything. For something lighter there are muffins, but that's it as far as pastries. They have an excellent multi grain bread and an iced chai. It's small inside but they do have an outdoor eating area. If you're lucky enough to find street parking or are staying at the hotel make sure to take your coffee on a walk to the beach. Just turn right out of Cafe Vahik and go down the first road on the right.

Incredible.

By SonnyBurnett212 |

Unbelievably incredible. Cafe Vahik is the epitome of Quality, Cleanliness and Hospitality. Excellent food, environment and service. Perfect place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. You will not be anything but absolutely satisfied after you go to Cafe Vahik. I go here every single day that I pass through La Jolla (which is a few times a month) and my only regret is that I can't eat here every day!

Everything delicious!

By Lisa S |

We stayed at the Travelodge next door and they recommended Cafe Vahik for breakfast or lunch. So glad they did! The husband and wife owners were most welcoming and handled ever aspect of the restaurant service. We enjoyed a breakfast and a lunch and every meal was excellent. Very fresh, nice presentation, delicious breads. My husband said his spinach feta omelette was the best he'd ever had. We enjoyed talking with the husband when they weren't as busy. On Saturday morning they were very busy with good reason. Coffee was good and strong. Only surprise was they charge for refills. We loved both meals and highly recommend Cafe Vahik to anyone in the area.

Great Coffee!

By Joshua R |

The restaurant is really close to my house this is the second time I am here. A well decorated place to have your early morning breakfast and a cup of coffee. They have superb coffee and sandwiches in the town all served fresh and hot. The staffs are nice and friendly. The price is little bit high but other than this everything is cool. Highly recommended.

It’s like being back in a

By Valerie |

It’s like being back in a New York Deli. Service was polite but not California polite, New York polite. Fine by me, I’ve missed traveling these last six months ;) Bagel with lox was okay, not New York bagel but plenty of good lox. Also plenty of onion, be warned! Cafe au lait was very strong.

Gourmet snacks

By jessieRodez |

An excellent place for breakfast or a "light" lunch. The ceviche is outstanding, as are the salads with fish. I highly recommend it.

Great sandwich !

By Xriss |

Everyone was hungry and We were lucky to find this place along the road. We all had sandwiches which are served together with a big savoury salad. Good atmosphere too !

Family Owned - Great Service - Good food & coffee!

By MrsLo86 |

Both days we were in town, I stopped in for breakfast and coffee. Family owned. They had a line in the door both days. Food was served hot and portions above avg. Worth the wait and can't beat the price! They run a great cafe and you can tell they work hard and take pride in what they do and the service they provide. I could tell with all the regulars coming in for their usual. I would recommend this little Gem! Stop by & grab a breakfast bagel & coffee. Better than that $15 or more you would be spending at Starbucks.

Great food at a reasonable price!

By Bill A |

Quick, delicious, and reasonable. Love to patronize mom and pop businesses whenever possible. Adjacent to The Shoal (great hotel!) and all the food is very fresh.

Great Breakfast Experience

By Ray McGuire |

This wonderful café was right next to our hotel and we were glad that we went there. They offered made-to-order eggs, bacon or sausage and choice of bread. We both had scrambled eggs, bacon and sourdough toast and it was wonderful. We also both had a white chocolate mocha iced and it was one of the best we've both ever had. It was very small café but the food and staff were wonderful and I would definitely recommend it staying in the area.

Love this place

Four of us stopped in for a late breakfast/early lunch. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. I will go back. It is a tiny little place with some indoor seating as well as a 3 or 4 tables outdoors. You order at the counter and they deliver the food to the table.

Love it!

Great coffee, and probably the best breakfast sandwich I ever had. We ate here almost every morning on our trip! Friendly staff and the rest of the menu looked great. I came back for the shack bagel, it was just too good! Thanks for a great welcoming experience :)

Outside seating quick fresh and delish !

I was lucky to find this place right next door to my hotel. And open !! The owners are so sweet I feel like I was greeted by a friend! Salmon bagel with egg was perfect way to start the day... and covered patio kept me dry from the light rain. For a small place there are many choices, omelettes/paninis/bagels/salads. I may have to try the eggplant omelette!

I'm glad I checked trip advisor.

A cozy place Good location No parking Great food at a very inexpensive rice Fast delivery. I agree with the other high earrings. Lack of parking is a moderate sized problem.

Great local breakfast place. Some indoor and outdoor seating.

Great breakfast spot. Although a limited menu compared to more “popular” breakfast restaurants in La Jolla, we found great items. The bagel sandwich was really good - fresh ingredients and good ham - and a great, fresh “Everything” bagel. The eggs and bacon and sourdough bread were great. Eggs were cooked to order; it was wonderful to get soft bacon i.e., not crispy and overcooked. Good coffee. Very nice to be out of the tourist fray of the tourist area of La Jolla.

Great food.

Next to the Travelodge on La Jolla blvd. Very deceiving exterior - looks like nothing. But inside are friendly people and fresh tasting food. Paninis are excellent. Comes with a fresh salad. Would visit again.

Great place for breakfast and lunch

Fantastic people and great everything. Friendly and can sit outside with my dog. In La Jolla this perfect for lunch and breakfast, smoothie or snack.
