Caja Caliente- don’t miss this

By Amy Wang |

Just got off a flight from Houston and ended up here after reading about it in Eater Miami. This is one of the best meals I’ve had since I don’t know when. I wanted to lick the plate. The Cuban nachos were especially good (these were what prompted near breach of table manners. Definitely recommend.

Quick lunch

Very tasty and healthy Cuban style tacos , with lechón , chicken, fish , and also tamales, quinoa bowls , a little on the pricy side but this is wynwood I went on a Tuesday so I got a break , but nevertheless the tacos are very fulfilling,

Great tacos in a funky spot!

By ARodriguezP |

Went for a bite with my friend who lives nearby and definitely enjoyed the delicious tacos. I wanted something on the healthy side so went with the tuna poke but also tried the tacos my friend ordered and these were definitely the star of the show! Vaca frita tacos we're delicious as was the octopus taco.... I will say the prices might be a little high but given the quality it's definitely worth it! The spot itself could probably best be described as a glorified food truck set in a garden setting so for sure nice outside seating on Miami's cooler season days though maybe a bit hot at the height of summer.

Highly Recommend

Miami desperately needs more places like this. Nice setup. Nice garden.I was not a fan of the chopped tomatoes on my tacos. Some good flavors here. No fresh Horchata...no homemade salsa...no crema fresca...but, it's not really Mexican and neither is Miami. "Taco Tuesdays" needs to improve...still don't understand what they offer...or, don't for Taco Tuesdays.

Mexican made with Cuban Parts!

By Noms with Mel |

LISTEN, whoever can relate tacos to only Mexican food has NOT tried this place and honestly they're MISSING OUT! Yes I'm screaming because this place is amazinggggg! Funny thing is was hubby and I stumbled across this place by accident due to their beautifully colored decor! (If you read some of my reviews, you know my love for art & color!) and let me tell you, it's beyond amazing! They're Cuban tacos & they have so muchhhh flavor it'll leave your tastebuds speechless! And where else can you get croquetas, empanadas & tacos?! Don't worry, I'll wait! We opted to try all kinds of things and I'm honestly surprised I didn't order 1 of everything on the menu, but don't fret, I will be back to finish off my tastings soon! lol We had the lechon taco, chicken taco, vacations frita taco, shrimp empanada & crab croqueta. EVERYTHING was phenomenal. Every+Single+Thing. The shrimp empanada tasted like shrimp enchilado in an empanada and I was ALL for it! The tacos were scrumptious with their sauces! The croqueta oh my god, I'm not even a crab fan UNTIL NOW! lol Great Great Great and I cannot describe how great it is! (Yes I will repeat the word great until you get it! lol) Had of course the Cuban classic sodas like Ironbeer cuz why not?! and everything was just amazing! Think of it like Mexican food made with Cuban parts! The ambiance is amazing, it's a food truck with beautiful outdoor seating and decor! Everything is so colorful and mismatched yet coordinated all at the same time! The staff is AMAZING and so helpful, you'll feel like family! I enjoyed every bit of my experience here! Yes it is outdoors but there are fans and I didn't feel extra hot or anything. Although with the amazing food, I doubt you'll even notice. This is a MUST try on your food list! Be there or be square!

Really good food !

Delicious food ! Oh my gosh , the lechon tasted so good and the octopus was amazing. Everything was so good . The cashier was really helpful .

3.5 stars - pretty good for simple comfort food

By Trvlchnnl |

The tamal was good. Not a lot of tamal, more pork, but it was still good. lechon taco was good. Chicken taco was dry. Masitas (special) was just OK. Pan con lechon sandwiches were good. small place, so get in early for seats. Service is A+

Escape the gridlock...

By Fred C |

"Cuban Tacos"!!!... Absolutely some of the best tacos I've ever tasted... I found this taco stand trying to escape the gridlock that is Biscayne Blvd in Miami... Jumped over to N.E. 2nd Ave via 26 street in Midtown... and smack dab in front of me is a neon lit sign flashing... "TACOS"... I made a mental note to myself, "looks interesting and we'll need to visit"... Well, several weeks later the opportunity arose. Visited Caja Caliente on a late Saturday afternoon when street parking was still accessible just around the corner of the taco stand... and that is what it is, a small food trailer that is serving gastronomically delicious tacos with some seating to rest your bones... I kick myself for not asking the young ladies name that was serving our tacos... Nevertheless, she is very informative of the choices and just sincerely nice... No matter, I captured her in a picture. I hope she doesn't mind that she is now going to be famous. Anyway, we savored the chicken taco, tuna taco and of course roast pork taco... Nicely prepared and good portions... Two tacos for the normal person does just fine... Well, this is the thing... I'm not normal and finding out they have a taco with octopus and shrimp... I had no choice but to find the room and try it... I'm glad I did 'cause the taco was exquisite with tender shrimp and more importantly... The octopus was perfectly prepared, tender and very tasty... In conclusion, (I know, it's about time)... Why the heck are you still reading this? Get in your car and go! Go to get some yummy tacos at the Caja Caliente! Thank you for you time... Fred C

Eclectic restaurant in downtown Miami.

The restaurant is in downtown Miami with great views of the city at night. This restaurant has great tacos among it's eclectic menu. Each dish is innovative in terms of taste and presentation.

A lucky find!

By redxdress |

Our first night on a short trip to Miami, we had found this place on TripAdvisor and wandered over from the overcrowded scene in trendy (but expensive) Wynwood. What a lucky find! I can imagine it might get busier later on (especially if there's live music or other events) but because we were on the early side, we ordered and got our food really quickly, in pleasant and comfortable surroundings that just sum up "vacation". We shared a few different foods and really enjoyed them. If we lived in Miami, I'm sure we would be regulars!

Awesome Genuine Food

By Drake S |

The place is hard to find if you are not looking for it. The music and atmosphere makes you feel as though you are on a beach in Cuba. They have a cool bar and the food is amazing. Loved the octopus taco and the Lechón Sandwich. It's hot, but there are some fans around the food cart recommend going in the evening. We will be back.

My go to place for hunger!

It's the type of place that you can chill and have the best conversations in while eating literally the greatest Cuban-Mexican fusion you can get!

Cute little neighborhood food stop where the locals go

By Diyana_13 |

We walked over for the first time because we've been hearing the loud music from our home on weekend late nights and had seen the place fill up during the day. The place seemed pretty cozy. You place your order for the tacos (mainly tacos and ceviche, no alcohol btw) at the food truck and take a seat at one of the old couches, the vibe is casual and quaint, music in the background and people meeting up with friends. Kinda' like a house party in someone's backyard. The food is served as good portions but I found 3 shrimp tacos and a small ceviche for $50+ dollars a little to pricey. Ceviche didn't impress me, tacos I rate 6 out of 10. All in all we paid up to support our local neighborhood spot.

Delicious and unpretentious Restaurant

By laura k |

Caja Caliente restaurant is a great place for a seat-in or a take-out meal. The place offers a variety of cuban-mexican dishes. The menu is not extensive but everything is packed with flavor and served hot. The Tacos are very yummy and filling. The Tamal Cubano is amazing. The shrimp bowl is excellent. Price-quality, this place is unbeatable.

Excellent tacos

By jennaviles2 |

Loved this spot a lot! Really glad I came out from South Beach to check them out. The tacos were delicious. I loved the space they have. It's all outdoors with music. Really chill vibes for sure. Great place to go with friends before a night out. Highly recommend it.

Best tacos I’ve ever had!

By Yeri M |

Caja Caliente was amazing! The wynwood location was delicious. The steak taco was my favorite, but we ended up getting 2 more tacos than we originally order because they were so good! The seasoning on the meat was perfect and there were different sauces for each taco. Our friends just stumbled into this place, but we had no idea they’d be this good.

Best Meal in Miami

By scottishbum |

This was the best meal I had in Miami. As a Texan, I’m skeptical of tacos in other states, especially Cuban tacos which aren’t really a thing in Cuba. Caja Caliente absolutely knocked it out of the park with these. Overstuffed with meat and perfectly flavored, these were standouts in an amazing city full of amazing food. One suggestion though: I’d replace the Perrier with Topo Chico. It pairs better with the flavors.

Fabulous Octopus tacos, very

Fabulous Octopus tacos, very clean, attentive staff. Big smile & positive attitude accompanied the meal.

Like tacos in Abuela’s backyard

By Rpcv79 |

This place feels like a heart-warming meal in grandma’s backyard. The vibe is casual and chill, surrounded by the work of local artists. The tamale was freshly made and likely handmade. The steak in the steak taco was tender and seasoned perfectly. The vaca frita taco was the perfect Mexican-Cuban-American fusion. The portions are huge and food is obviously good quality. As if that wasn’t enough, the owner and her mom were there and made us feel welcomed, like family. This is a new favorite.

Best Tacos in Town

This place has amazing tacos! Great lunch spot. It doesn’t look appealing from the outside, but trust me its worth visiting!!

A true gem

Normally when we do short trips we go to different places to eat for each meal. This was the exception. Great food - Good people - Great atmosphere.

Awesome Concept

By Alessia V |

I didn't expect it to be a food truck but for sure it is the best food truck food I have ever eaten. It was a combination between Mexican and Cuban food. The seasoning of the food was perfect and rich. I would also recommend going to this place because it is located in a square where you can find other options to eat. The spot is really nice and it is sanitized every time someone stood up from a table. It is very casual and informal, both the food and the place. I would recommend this place if you are in Miami District with friends and want to eat something quick to keep enjoying Miami! Vegetarian options are available as well!

My friend wanted to try a new place didn’t disappoint

By OhhNoo2150 |

So we found this place on yelp, I didn’t know he was using yelp don’t kill me trip advisor!!! I’m sorry!!! Please don’t walk away...ok ok I’ll go on. I got a tuna poke taco and a lechon taco, they were both out of this world! The lechon was so well seasoned and the mango pico they put on there was really good. It was my first time trying poke...now I have the bar and I gotta say it’s gonna be hard to beat cause that was uhhhmazing

Best tacos we ever had

By Femke |

LOVED the food. Tried steak tacos and their specialty sandwich (grandmother’s something, with pork, included the fried egg and avocado). SUPER yummy. Fast and friendly service too and fair prices. Chill atmosphere. Recommended for a quick bite and some drinks!
