Best place on the beach. Great Food and great views at great prices! Sushi was great. !!!!! Recommend highly.

Get a table overlooking the beach. Even on a sunny day there is plenty of shade for your sun-conscious guest and sun for your sun-worshippers. The food is incredible (had oysters on the half shell, salmon tacos, sushi, etc.). Nothing bad on this menu. Bartender is “liberal” with pours and makes incredibly tasty libations. Only downside is price, but you are eating at a top-notch eatery on the dang beach. Enjoy!

Traveling from Louisiana with kids. Ate here our last night and were very impressed. Had a little wait but fire pits and comfy couches with views made up for it. Watched a beautiful sunset while we enjoyed our excellent sushi!

I like San Diego and when we are in California we try to pass some days there. We cannot miss Mission Beach and Cannoball..Japanese food, beer and seaview are a mix which We can have met rarely.

Beers and tower of seafood with crab and mussels and oysters and shrimp and dragon roll sushi. Very good and fresh and good views. Great service. Pricey and it sure it should be zagat rated, but oh well. Seated pretty quickly without a reservation.

My friend recommended this place on our trip May 24, 2019. It's in Belmont Park area right on the beach. You can see and hear the people and music from the activities on the boardwalk. You can see the waves crashing in while you're sipping on cocktails. The food is like fusion, some sushi, some burgers/sandwiches, chicken wings, salads but it's all delicious!! We were stuffed from the spicy garlic and lime chicken wings and that fabulous fried lobster roll. OMG it was good! After we ate & paid the bill we walked down the stairs and we were on the beach. Literally a 30 second walk from our table. We chilled at the beach the rest of the day. Perfect spot for date night, girls night, hanging out with friends, it's a chill cali vibe. As for as price, it's a little expensive, we spent 40ish bucks on lunch. The chicken wings and roll were pretty good size. We shared our food.

This casual restaurant and bar has a spectacular view right at the beach . Time your visit for a beautiful sunset. Good selection of sushi and your favorite drinks including the pain pill!

We found this place while walking around this area. There are portable gas heaters at every table. The sushi here is fantastic. Both the wasabi and the ginger on the side were very good as well. They have nice menu and a large assortment of different sushi’s to choose from. They have live music. Prices are to be expected a few $ more than your average, but the view, ambience, and food is definitely worth it! This is a beautiful place to watch the sunset if you get there in time. We ended up coming here again a few nights later.

Awesome location, great view and superb sushi! We had a great time. The waiter was casual but attentive.

We were here Sunday for our first night of a 5 day recharge. I don’t think we could have had a better experience. We started with a lobster dip, followed by a couple of rolls, and some dessert. Our server recommended some really good wine. All the above with a sunset seat.... couldn’t be beat.

Had taken my family to the San Diego Zoo earlier and decided to go hang out at Mission Beach for a bit . Decided to have dinner at Cannonball in a whim. What a terrific dining experience. The staff was friendly and very engaging. The food was excellent as we shared the chilled seafood tower and a couple sushi roles . The restaurant is on the rooftop we an amazing view of the ocean . This is a must place if you are in Mission Beach.

The sushi was good, and the beer cold. Live music to keep you entertained as you watch the sun go down over the water. Heaters to keep you warm and if that's not enough they will bring you a blanket !

Happened in after biking on PB. Happy hour was excellent with specials. Sunset view of beach, sushi was wow! Friendly.

Our experience at Cannonball was exceptional. Excellent food, wonderful staff, and an exquisite view. I had sushi and it was perfect, my husband had a burger and it was honestly the best burger I have ever had in my life and were from Wyoming beef country! (Seriously we dreamed about it the rest of our stay!) We highly recommend eating here and we will be back!

The Cannon Ball is located right on the beach and the outdoor restaurant is on the second floor. The view is amazing. The food did not disappoint, we had 5 different dishes and all were great. The service was also excellent. Don't miss this one.

The location is great in that its all a rooftop with massive views of the beach. We were there at night so hard to see but you could hear waves crashing, It was a bit cold for San Diego but they did a great job with the heaters. Menu was surprisingly limited for a sushi restaurant. 4 choices of nigiri - full stop. Asked for a basic off menu cut roll and the server wasn't sure it was doable. Very "americanized" sushi. Lots of fried or cream cheese. Different kitchen so food came out in a wonky order - app, sushi, hot food, salad. Food seemed just a notch above a chain restaurant but the prices are a bit steeper. There was a fantastic live musician. Really talented and easy to listen to. That and the view/location saved it for us. Located next to a small amusement park so that was sort of fun to stroll through after. I'd perhaps recommend the place for drinks/apps with a view but not sure I'd send people for a true sushi dinner.

Amazing views, super friendly staff, lovely sushi and oysters, it was perfection. Come around sunset!

We ate at Cannonball for the first time on a Saturday night. This is a rooftop restaurant right on the Boardwalk of Mission Beach. We were told it would be a twenty-five minute wait, but it was only about fifteen minutes. We were taken to a table directly overlooking the ocean just after sunset. AMAZING view. They have a good selection of appetizers, entrees and sushi. We ordered tempura for an appetizer, then sushi rolls and the sashimi plate for our meal. Fish was fresh and the presentation was great! Our server was attentive! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We will definitely eat here again!!

We've been here a couple times now and I keep expecting to write it off as a tourist trap as it's right on the beach and not cheap... but I always have a great time. The staff is always nice, the food is always good (although we always get the sushi rolls so I'm not sure how the other food is), and the view/people watching is spectacular. You can go dressed nice or right off the beach (we were in bathing suits and a cover-up this past weekend.) Belmont Park is right next door so if you have kids, buy them an unlimited ride wristband from costco and let them play while you enjoy some solo adult time upstairs at the restaurant.

Excellent location right on the beach, although they do not take reservation so the waiting time for 6 people was 45 minutes on a Sunday evening. I had the Sashimi Wrap for $17 which does not seem to be plenty of food, but it actually is! I got a $4 rice bowl and a Sauvignon Blanc from Kim Crawford at $11. Not cheap but not overpriced either for the location. Parking can be challenging.

When we first arrived in San Diego I said "I want to eat sushi right on the beach". This was EXACTLY what I had in mind. The views are phenomenal and the food was just as good. The drinks were also very good. It had just the laid back atmosphere we were searching for. We will be back for sure!

Stopped by on a weekend night and got seated right away. Good for watching the sunset and the moon and stars rise. Excellent miso soup, much better than most. Equally good tempura. The sushi rolls are complex and good, but huge... easy to over order! I'd go again.

Great views, warm breezes, and great food... what more can you ask for? This is our favorite and we've tried many items on the menu. My wife and I like to split the lobster roll and a salad. Beers are good and are te fish tacos. If you do only one thing when you eat here... Try the lobster roll. It's to die for. It has an elevator for the handicapped.

Excellent food from sushi to burgers. Staff is friendly and very attentive. Went there 3 times in two weeks it was so good.

Nice looking venue, but overpriced. Food was descent although some menu options like the octopus were rather small for the price. Lack of vegetarian options. Drinks were small for the price. Service could have been better. We waited 30 minutes after our reservation and had to finally ask to get seated. They tried to tell us someone else said they were us and they seated them instead (uh, no). But seems like everyone was waiting for a table, reservation or not. Also 5% "surcharge" on every bill.

Beach and ocean views from the rooftop are amazing. The vibe here is relaxed and chill, yet classy. Our family of four loved it. Rolls and drinks were yummy. The lobster dip was a crowd pleaser!

Fantastic menu for everyone. Great spot for sushi lovers and burger lovers. Must try: sashino peppers appetizer. Their sushi is fresh and delicious. Drinks are also fantastic. And you can’t beat being by the ocean.

Great food and marvellous drinks. Amazing view. Wonderful staff despite being a super busy place. The staff was very engaging and attentive to our group's needs. Can’t go wrong with this place!

I am surprised by the high ratings. The menu is small. Take a peek before you are seated. We were so looking forward to sushi in San Diego vs the Midwest but this was a total disappointment. Tasteless. All I could taste was the spices on the three rolls ordered. Service was poor. Not worth the money.

One of the managers, Allan, gave us extremely outstanding customer service. He went way beyond to help us with our situation. Ryan, the server that assisted us was also wonderful. Three nights later our server Jennifer was perfect! Plus the sushi and salmon tacos are the best. Thank you!

menu items are meant to be shared, so don't hesitate to ask. Great service too. Had the short rib sandwich, and it was divine.

My wife and I stopped by many times after a walk on the beach and it was always a pleasant experience. The sushi/ sashimi is very good, great service, reasonable prices.

Awesome views of the ocean, sushi was delicious! Huge outdoor space, upstairs restaurant. Highly recommend.

Cannonball is on the second floor overlooking the beach. Outstanding ambience. Great service. Chicken wings were plump and juicy. Calamari very tasty. Service was great. Prices are a tad high, but not unrealistic.

I noticed this restaurant when I went on my walk in the morning along the Mission Beach walkway and saw a sign that said, "voted best sushi in 2019". I told my husband about it and so we decided to try it. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, the chef's sashimi plate and the lobster spinach dip. All of it was delicious and the fish was very fresh. The size of the sashimi pieces were decent, not too thin. Great and friendly service.

This place is very tasty. The cherry bomb dessert... yum. Quick service and super cute environment. Great music too.

My husband and I ate dinner here while vacationing in San Diego. The service was excellent, the drinks were strong, and the food was delicious!! Great atmosphere with beautiful views of the beach.

Sitting on a rooftop enjoying the view of the wonderful Pacific, eating tasty californian sushi’s is a good way of discoverind San Diego’s famous beaches

I held an evening reception here for 120 people. The weather was not on our side as super windy but the staff were really attentive to ensure that all the heaters and fires were on to keep guests warm. Thankfully the wind completely died down about 30mins into the reception. Even though it was dark you could still see the ocean and it was nice to eat with the noise of the waves in the background. Food was delicious and plentiful, my only complaint was it was not that hot. Our guests dint complain though. Would def recommend this venue for an event and I would imagine it is fantastic in summer.

View is gorgeous overlooking the ocean. It’s a second floor rooftop. Tons of cool seating options; couches, bar, small tables. The oysters were awesome. The had fun cocktails on the menu, but we were just drinking the local beers.

The food here is amazing. Hands down, the best sushi I have had on the West Coast. Everything is fresh and delicious, including the cocktails. The atmosphere and music are fun and the view/people watching is spectacular. We always visit this restaurant when we come to San Diego!

I say surprising because i think most people come for the view, which is great. You are overlooking the ocean; outside dining; ocean breeze. We tried the tuna roll and the Baja sashimi, both were truly excellent.

First and foremost, you are treated to a Pacific coast sunset aa you sit in this outdoor, second floor establishment. That is the only thing that tops this moderately priced, high quality Sushi Bar and restaurant. All the rolls were delish (we had plenty of them). Service was fast and spot on. Drinks were a generous pour and made right. Do yourself a favor and stop in.

I loved dining here. On a nice sunny day, this is a great spot to eat outside with beautiful views of the beach. The food was delicious. I would absolutely dine here again the next time I visit Mission Beach.

Great view, waiter Drew W. & food!! We loved talking with Drew! He’s originally from East Coast & we are from the Poconos. Fantastic waiter with a great personality! Food is delicious! Husband loved Salmon tacos. I have celiac disease. No gluten. They were very accommodating for my allergy! Adult drinks are delicious also. Restaurant is above beach on patio. Beautiful views. Just go & ask for Drew!!

Great place with views, great food & vibe! Truly on a rooftop overlooking the beach - can see from pier to jetty. Glass surround keeps the wind away and heat lamps and fire pits add warmth. Primarily a sushi restaurant but also offer a great burger, other seafood options and lots of appetizers. Creative drink menu. Friendly service. We loved dinner at sunset!

Rooftop is the place to be for amazing ocean views overlooking Mission Beach. Came with a friend for Rainbow Rolls which I paired with a Sapporo Draft beer and she had the Spicy Margarita. In these pandemic times to have this wonderful outdoor space to have lunch was just the ticket.

This is an outdoor venue. We sat upstairs overlooking the ocean. There are heaters on posts that keep you warm. Even though it was the end of June one could tell it could get breezy there. The sushi, edamame, miso, and steak were all good. Nice casual place to relax, enjoy a meal, watch the fireworks, and converse.

Food and beverages were spot on. The view at sunset was really cool as well. You can have some cocktails but if you want to sit by the best views you must order food.

The food and the ambiance is fantastic at this beach front restaurant. Tourists to San Diego will LOVE this place. BUT, the service is very slow, waitresses disappear and don't come by often, and the food does not come out together and is very slow. I don't really want to wait for 20 minutes for a sushi roll, especially when they served my husband ahead of me and I sat and waited....poor service. The manager came out and made it better, but be prepared to wait and wait and enjoy the sunset because this long wait on service is a common problem.

This place is perfect! Best sushi I have EVER eaten! The view is to die for and the atmosphere is laid back, but nice. Cocktails were on point. My favorite roll was the lobster roll, even though I usually dislike fried rolls - this one was amazing👌🏼.

Visited in a group of 6 people. The first thing we ordered was lamb lollipops. Several times during our meal, we asked where they were. We were told that food comes out when it's ready, not according to when you order it. When we closed the place down, we never got the lamb. The person paying the bill didn't know we never got them so he paid for them. The restaurant is a little overpriced and more so when buying food that is never delivered.

Attentive servers , great water views , good and plentiful selections of appetizers , entrees and drinks. It was a little cool and windy but sunny on the day we visited, we requested a wraparound couch with a fire pit and was given one , surrounded by a glass windbreak .It was cozy so we could enjoy our dining selections and they all came out quickly and hot and up to expectations. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return.

This is a really great beachfront bar and restaurant. The place is well decorated throughout and very clean. We were seated in the upstairs area where the views of the seafront and Pacific Ocean are excellent. We ordered food and drinks which we enjoyed. The staff were very welcoming and very helpful and friendly.

We were a group of 6 and it was a Saturday night and seated right away. The sushi is fresh and the service was great. It is a casual and fun atmosphere and would recommend it for those who want to eat with a view of the ocean. Friendly staff.

located right on the ocean front, Cannonball can get really busy at times but it's absolutely worth waiting for. The seafood is superb and the sushi selection is better than anywhere I've seen before. I visited on 5th May - Cinco de Mayo - so the tequila made an appearance and this, accompanied by a tremendous wine list, added to a superb dining experience. Emily - our waitress - was a delight and Doug, the wine/beer specialist pulled up a chair and made the whole experience an absolute joy. What an evening. Highly recommended.

This was one of our favorite dining experiences. Great sushi and fantastic ocean front views. The live music was a nice touch. I’d suggest a reservation for a nice view and avoid the wait for a table.

Ate here for a quick dinner on a Saturday after a long day at the beach. We were seated right away and had a table that provided a great view of the ocean. The sushi and edamame were very tasty. The edamame comes spicy and with a bit too much sauce - couldn't finish it because it was floating in sauce and was too spicy. The service was excellent and we would definitely eat here again!

My daughters and I are not sushi eaters, but my husband is. We wanted to go somewhere he would be ensured good sushi while visiting San Diego. This did not disappoint. He said it was some of the best he has had. My daughters had burgers which they said were great. I had the salmon tacos which were delicious but too spicy for me but I have zero tolerance to anything remotely spicy. The ocean view and sunset were gorgeous. The restaurant was too loud for our taste, but worth it for the sushi. The chairs need to be cleaned. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Cannonball is my new "Must eat at" place in San Diego. The view is stunning - it's beachfront property, and while I ate, a small pod of bottlenose dolphins swam by! The waitress was also the bar keep for my midweek lunchtime visit and couldn't have been nicer. She was patient with my questions and helped me choose the meal pictured here. Everything was delicious. Was it pricey? Yeah. Was it outrageous? Nah. It was in line with any other restaurant of similar caliber, but the others didn't come with that stunning view. A lot of beachside places can become seedy quickly - but this felt very classy. My only complaint was that the elevator wasn't working, and it was a long set of steep stairs to get there and back. But it was worth it!

We went here on a recommendation and absolutely loved the place! Great vibes, would be perfect for a brunch or a sundowner. Sushi is good, they serve their steamed edamame with the most insane sauce ever. They have options for vegetarians too, which is really good. Dessert was okay, can be skipped. The sunset was beautiful, try and get a table by the window.

My husband and I decided Cannonball would be a good place to eat on the beach but we could’ve went elsewhere. Upon arrival we weren’t greeted by the hosts at all while we stood in front of them waiting to be assisted. One girl decided to ask if she can help us and seemed confused when we asked for a table for 2 on the ocean view side. She said they have tables ready but then said it would be a wait and then proceeded with what seemed like a shift change with another employee. We weren’t too bothered because we just made it to the beach and figured we would eat first so there was no rush. We were taken to be seated maybe 10 minutes later and I’ll give the first start for the seating selection. They did get us an ocean view table, so that’s a plus. But because there wasn’t anything exceptional about the service, I’ll just skip to the food. The server (never gave his name) asked if we’ve been before and we said no. He said they are well known for their sushi but the menu only had 9 different rolls and nothing special about them at all. We’re from Las Vegas and the sushi selection is remarkable in our city. So we weren’t sure how such a small, bland selection could make them “known for the sushi”. Anyways, we ordered the Mahi Tacos and Chicken Wings. I’ll give another star for the tacos because they came out quick and actually tasted pretty good. The chicken wings weren’t amazing but they weren’t bad. Kind of like chicken wings you fry at home but coated lightly with McDonald’s Sweet Chili sauce. My husband and I didn’t care for them. Our server stopped by our table and mumbled something about not meaning to put a bottle of water on an empty table and then filled my glass and walked away. We finished eating and a busser cleaned up our mess. At that point our server was no where to be found to give us the check. He finally shows up and says the system went down in the middle of the dining service so that’s why it took so long to get the check. We pay, we head out, and get a “thanks guys” from our server. If it weren’t for the tacos and the view, I wouldn’t give any stars.

6 of us were trying to get into the Craft Beer lounge and we directed upstairs to Cannonball. We were seated quickly with a nice table with a view of the ocean and the beach. Water arrived quickly but our drinks took quite a long time to arrive. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, it was very good. Other items were pretty good, pass on the chicken wings though. We moved to a sunnier table after dinner and kept the drinks coming. One of our party had to send back a margarita, but they fixed it quickly and checked up on it. Good place to spend the afternoon in the sun.

Amazing views! My 13 y.o. and I stopped here on our way in from the airport. Great way to kickoff a long weekend in San Diego. Wonderful ocean views! Food was just ok. Had two kinds of rolls, spicy edamame, and cream puffs.

The problem was the service got slower and slower, my food was very bland. I the seared scallops. So boring "brown paper bag" boring. The waiter asked if he could bring me something else which was nice. However, I didn't see anything right off so he offered to bring me something else, which I found odd because he really wouldn't know what I'd like. He brought me a sushi style tuna something which I also did not like. I know he was trying, it just didn't work out. Thankfully the drinks and appetizer were great.

I am here with my family visiting from Newfoundland. This is my first visit to Mission Beach. We decided on drinks and food.at the cannonball restaurant on the ocean. An hour later still waiting for our second order of raw oysters and sushi. The view certainly doesn't match the food.!!! Since when do you order oysters on the half shelf and you're served in this big high lift that you put pizza or something else on ridiculous the thing as high as my chin. Very dissatisfied. The place is not busy. Three ways staff for eight tables and they still can't get it right !

The best view in the world for eating sushi! Nothing better than people watching at the beach while tasting your Lobster Roll. The girl who works at the top of the stairs is VERY rude to everyone, but once you get past her, the service is good. Really good experience.

My husband and I went here for dinner and really enjoyed the food and view. I would recommend it and will be back again.

We were looking for dinner on Pacific Beach and stopped in. This upstairs restaurant was busy and lively and had a great view of the ocean. The menu is limited, mostly standard sushi, tempura and appetizers. The bar offers an extensive selection. Service was mixed, polite and friendly but slow as the place was so busy. A great place for a drink, less great if your focus is on food.

Made a reservation for ocean view right at sunset. Was perfect to watch this and food was excellent. Heaters everywhere to make sure you stay warm once the sun sets.

As a California roll eater only, I was skeptical about finding food I would enjoy when it was suggested our party eat here. Boy, was I not prepared. It was AMAZING! The enfuego and the lobster rolls were perfection – so was the California roll. Mission Beach mai tai and the beach sangria were the bomb! And the view?!?? Spectacular!

We had a fun night dining at Cannonball. 2 moms and two 14 year old girls. Everyone enjoyed their food, and loved the vibe. We waited about an hour, strolling in the area. Moms had a beer in the restaurant/bar on ground floor. We loved the pepper appetizers mentioned in other posts. Would go back just for them. Pleasant service and fun waiter!

Had a friend visiting and we took him to Cannonball for lunch. My wife had been at Draft downstairs and knew about Cannonball but had not been there yet. We were quite impressed! The view is incredible. It's a second story, open-air facility right on the strand. They have umbrellas and sail shades throughout but go prepared with sunglasses and a hat, just in case. We were greeted by our waiter, Ryan, immediately after the hostess seated us. Service was prompt. We had our drink order in front of us quickly. My wife had a question about a Sake Flight and the bartender came out himself to field the question and offer suggestions. Nice touch. We ordered Hummus, an Ahi Sandwich, Thai Chicken Salad and a Sunset Roll and shared everything. Had plenty of food for the three of us. Everything was fresh and delicious. We think Cannonball will be an outstanding place for dinner and to enjoy the sunset and that is next on our list!

The view from our table was amazing to look out into the ocean, Food was delicious and worth the price. Staff was friendly. Live music was a great touch, all outdoor seating. perfect weather.

The shareable items were awesome. View and service were excellent. Memorable family get together was made possible at this location. A must on the beach

We had a delightful evening at Cannonball with Jill as our server. Our margaritas and Sunset and Point Break rolls were delicious! Great view of the Pacific Ocean and sunset. We’d go back!

We came here for an early lunch. The roof top restaurant offers great views with sunny and shaded seating, as well as coach areas for larger groups. The deck has epic ocean views and food&drinks are fantastic. We had a cocktail with wings and ceviche and everything was just delicious.

Went for a walk mission beach and quickly got hungry. They have a lot of option, EVEN if you don’t like Asian cuisine. The sushi was tasty and fresh! Service was good, just a little pricey. I would recommend going during happy hour which I believe is 2-5pm M-F. Enjoy!

This place is amazing! The food is beyond delicious, the drinks are good, the view is awesome, the vibe is cool & unique, & the staff is decent. Great bathrooms also for being on the beach!! Must go if you want sushi

From start to finish, this place is incredible. Shania was our host; she took us to the perfect table overlooking the beach and the ocean. Paige took over from there; flawless service, perfectly attentive but not in your face. Knew the wines, the cocktails, and the menu. Didn’t hesitate to make recommendations, and didn’t miss a beat. Spot on every time. Cannonball serves the best sushi WE’VE experienced from Seattle to San Diego. So fresh, clean, and perfect, it’s almost like it wasn’t the same fish. We ordered the chef’s choice, and received 18 pieces of sushi and sashimi for about $48. That’s crazy-good value for beachfront Cali on the high-end. Crazy! Loved the swimming pool themed decor, too. The whole team is a well-oiled machine. Views are unmatched. You deserve to come here!

We visited Cannonball twice during our stay in mission beach, once for drinks and once for lunch. The setting is lovely, views of the beach are amazing and the food and drinks were reasonably priced. I'd recommend the summer spritz and the sushi!

The service is a shame! We want a drink to enjoy the view but we wait a while and nobody come to take my order, it's a shame

Amazing views, great food and service was really good, we really enjoyed our meal here. Awesome dinner spot if you have kids enjoying the Belmont park rides next door

High expectations going in .. the service was awful took forever . Did not come back to ask if we needed anything and it was slow . The sushi was mediocre , the steak good and the peppers were bland . Very disappointed

This is the kind of place you want to eat at when visiting San Diego. Rooftop,Beachfront and fun food.Loved the atmosphere with all the lounging sofa area and fire pits. Very relaxing and fun vibe. Had the sushi which was good. Skip the split grilled prawns. They were very mushy and not much flavor. The lobster bites were good but very rich so one is enough. The lavender lemonade is not sweet so children probably wouldn't like it . Overall the food and service were great!

My wife and I spend a wonderful afternoon at the Cannonball - great food and drinks and an unbeatable view of the ocean. Very peaceful for a flatlander. Staff was great too. If you like an ocean view this is the place.

The location can't be beat, with a gorgeous view of the beach and ocean. The food was wonderful, albeit a bit slow to arrive to our table. The service was just okay, so if you're not in a hurry, I'd recommend eating here.

This place has to be the very best in all of San Diego for a great sunset, food, cocktails, music, fresh air, and professional bartenders. Yes, Heat lamps, a large parking lot, a fire pit, and yes to an ocean view. You'll need to order sushi, lamb chops, and the Thai chicken. Happy hours are good too. Have fun!

We went here on a recommendation from a friend. It was great. We had a wee bit of a wait, as they get busy. I recommend making a reservation. Our server was Morgan and she was awesome. We enjoyed the shishito peppers, enfuego and firecracker rolls. All fresh and quite scrumptious. I highly recommend this establishment. Next time we are in San Diego on vacation we will definitely go back.

This place is absolutely amazing! The food was phenomenal and they have a really good choice of bourbon. The views are stunning and the waitstaff was attentive and very personable. Big shout out to William! Thanks for the amazing evening.

We had reservations for 6 and our table was waiting as promised. Food and drinks were excellent! The sushi is truly amazing. Outside heaters make it very comfortable after sundown, however, I would take a light jacket to be safe. Very crowded and parking is difficult....take an Uber.

At the epicenter of Mission Beach, this restaurant would have a captive clientele regardless of how good the food is. We strolled in for lunch on a cool Saturday and had a choice of waiting for a table or taking a seat at the bar. There were a ton of empty tables with 'Reserved' signs. No biggie, we still had a nice view of the beach. The bartender who took care of us was great. Drinks were good. Food was excellent! We were amazed that what kind of looks like a tourist trap would have such delicious food. We had sandwiches (short rib and chicken) and some sushi, all of which tasted great. Another plus: the restrooms were spotless. Don't shy away from this place because of the location. I'll be back.

Lovely place right at the beach! Got a table right away and ordered several sushi rolls, all of which were excellent. My favourite was the lobster sushi roll. Most people come to watch the sunset at the beach and it truly is spectacular. Soda was refilled quick and without me asking. Great service.

Absolutely stunning views with good sushi. We had the crab dip to start, not normally something I would choose but was absolutely gorgeous. We then had a specialty roll. Service was good, it wasn’t particularly busy but I think this may be because it’s not a super obvious restaurant (you have to go up the stairs) so it doesn’t get all of the beach traffic. Worth a visit for decent sushi.

Stopped in for lunch and waited over an hour for our table but was worth the wait. We sat for another 15 minutes waiting for our server as it appeared no one knew whose section we were sitting in. After the mixup we were treated very well and the was food excellent. The miso soup was delicious with a shot of hot sauce on top from the kitchen. We also ordered a couple sushi dishes that were fresh and very good. A great place to people watch though it was very cold out the day we visited. We'll definitely be back when back in the area. The margaritas were good as well.

After riding bikes, we wanted somewhere to stop for drinks. Cannonball had a great rooftop overlooking the ocean/beach! We didn't order food, but the food looked awesome! Overall, great outdoor atmosphere!

We went here 3 or 4 times during our stay. We could easily walk here. It is nice to sit upstairs where the view is very beautiful. We did not eat here but saw mostly asian appetizers being served while we were there. Sure the drinks are expensive but the view can’t be beat. Very popular and the wait staff are extremely attentive and nice. We had a great time here.

Great food! Fancy and expensive place but worth it. The only reason I decide to come every single times is lobster rolls. It is great. My only suggestion and reason why not five stars are the hostest dress ridicoulous which is not profesional to me

First friendly service I’ve had since visiting SD. The sushi was good but tasted better because of the great view (see pic). Definitely worth a return for sunset meal.

My colleague and I were not really expecting too much out of this little Mission Beach beach side haunt. Much to our delight the sushi was amazing and spicy, very spicy yummy edamame were excellent accompaniments to our equally tasty afternoon cocktails!

Well came here on a Wednesday night and did not think the Sushi rolls were that good. Very average and sushi did not taste that fresh and portions pretty small on the sushi side for $14-$17 rolls. The roll with the albacore I think Pacifico was my least fav. Spicy edamame was drenched in garlic, way too much sauce sinking the edamame. ,Enfuego roll tasted good but loaded in sauce, Not so impressed for 4 of us spending $93 with tip for three rolls and a real spicy chopped salad average as well. If we had drinks bill would of gone way up. Location by the beach is nice though.

After reading excellent reviews on this restaurant I booked reservations well in advance knowing we could only visit on the Wednesday night of our vacation. We were sat at a table overlooking the beach at sunset. Our server, Amanda, was friendly, timely & offered suggestions when asked. The sushi was delicious & left us craving more!! We enjoyed 3 varieties... Firecracker, Pacifico (popular) & veggie. Prices were fair. Look forward to returning one day. The sunset picture is now on my desk as a reminder of a great night.

Since we visited here two years ago service and the breadth of menu have gone downhill. As a vegetarian I struggled to eat here one of my few choices being shishito peppers which have Cotija cheese (a bit strange), cumin, cilantro, jalopeño and vinagrette , with some small pieces of tortilla. Pretty spicy. My husband had the Thai chicken salad which was ok , and had quite a lot of chicken. Drinks were even more problematic we are vodka drinkers and they didn’t have a brand that we had ever heard of so in the end plumped for beer trying Pacifico and local beer Duck Foot. Both were ok but would prefer our normal drink. Now on to the brightest spot about Cannonball.....if you don’t want to watch the sunset on the beach watch from here - fab view and they have heaters too! Service was very slow, suspect they don’t have enough staff for extended facility... Cannonball us located off the very busy Mission Beach Boardwalk. If you like sushi this place is ideal, if you like sunsets and are happy to pay out to eat and drink here you can also make it work, but if neither of these scenarios work for you, don’t bother,,

While visiting the Ocean Front Walk in the Mission Beach area of San Diego, my coworker and I decided to have lunch at Cannonball. The restaurant is located on the second floor and has open air eating. We sat directly next to the edge with panoramic views of the beach and ocean. The views are fantastic. The weather was awesome. The chairs are about the most uncomfortable seats the place could have found. If you are an average to large person, the chairs will suck. We ordered a Cannonball burger with fries and Braised pork sandwich with a salad. We split both meals to try the variety. The burger was great and full of flavor. The fries were crispy and good. The salad came with a citrus dressing and was refreshing. The Braised Pork sandwich has good and had a spicy aioli sauce. The service was good and the atmosphere was as well. If you are on the waterfront and looking for a good meal, I recommend giving Cannonball Restaurant a try. Enjoy.

This was an average dinner and experience for us. We went to dinner during our Thanksgiving week trip and sat upstairs. It was a bit chilly but they did have tables by heaters. The sushi was good, but not anything great! We did love the miso soup though and the edamame portion was generous. Not sure we would return to this restaurant on a future trip.

If you like sushi, cocktails and mind numbingly beautiful sunsets...go to the cannonball which is in Belmont Park, Mission Beach, San Diego. Everything about the place is fantastic. I'm a huge lover of sushi and this was some of the best sushi that I've ever eaten. The staff were amazing and friendly and enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their food You need to book to be sure to get the best of the sunsets.. Trust me its a place you will not regret visiting...and you'll go back time after time...

I ordered their yellowfin tuna roll and edamame, both the best I have ever had. View of the ocean from the roof top was also fantastic. They also have fire pit nooks that are cozy and hard to leave. So much fun! I also ordered their cherry blossom cocktail which was a great and had a balanced flavor. I will be back

I came on vacation to San Diego and Cannonball was highly recommended for sushi. I had the lobster roll which was sooooo tasty and the calamari was delicious as well. The service was super friendly as well. Would definitely come back!

The food was excellent but a little pricey. The view of the beach was great. Sipping beer and eating sushi; what more could you want?

My friend and I had the spicy margarita which was so good, and we tried the calamari appetizer. Our food was so fresh and flavorful. We'd definitely come back here.

Cannonball is a fun ocean themed sushi joint in Mission Beach, San Diego. It is located atop Draft in Belmont Park. There is a huge free lot to park in, which does get crowded with beach goers. The view and the atmosphere are amazing. It is a great spot for people watching and sunsets. They have happy hour Monday-Friday, 2pm-5pm.

Me and my family really appreciate Japanese food and we were looking for a restaurant for our first evening in San Diego. We found this one really close to the mission Bay walk and decided to book our table. The restaurant is on the roof balcony of the building and offers a fabulous view of the ocean. We had been seated on a table close to the glass placed to protect guests from the wind and an heating vent has been setup to increase temperature. We spent our dinner with a great view of the ocean and great food and that made our first evening in San Diego simple memorable.

Incredible view... we went there for a sunset dinner... was high priced for a casual atmosphere. Service was mediocre, food was overpriced. There are better gems in San Diego.. I would recommend saving your money and doing somewhere else.

I have yet to enjoy a meal at the Cannonball where you’re actually comfortable. When they seat you in the reception area with almost no table tops bring out half the entrees because they’re waiting on the sushi??? Bring out the salad and the entree at the same time? The sushi is good. The entrees are inconsistent. Sometimes overcooked and sometimes under seasoned. Obviously not a well run kitchen. We live the view, but $700 dinners for 8 Adults is absurd when you’re eating with your late in your lap. Never again. 12 years and every year it gets worst.

The view at this place is amazing. Overlooking the beach while you eat. The menu is small, but the sushi we had was fresh and delicious.

Met up with a friend here for dinner the other night. We had a great time! The food was delicious! We had miso soup, edamame, and shared two sushi rolls. The soup and edamame wasn't like the regular stuff you get at most sushi places. They had a different flavor and kick to them. Very good. Both the rolls we had were so good. The staff was very nice and took good care of us. Definitely recommend this place.

We had dinner at Cannonball two nights in a row and both experiences were fantastic. We got different rolls and cocktails each night and it was all exceptional. We also had two different services who were friendly, knowledgeable (even about Sake) and gave super recommendations. What a great restaurant!

Went here with family on Sunday . Location is right next to the rental biking place which is very close to the parking lot .This place has great views of the mission beach and food is delicious . They have several options for veggie folks and even can accommodate special requests where meat/fish can be given on the side . They also accept reservations .

Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Out of the tap beer I wanted; but the recommendation from the server for the Vamilla Cream ale was perfect. Sushi was fresh and so tasty. Habanero mango sauce...yes!

Came here for our final night in town. Ate on the open rooftop area which has great views of the beach and walkways. The food was excellent, I had the steak and my wife had sushi which she loved. Ideal place for a sunset dinner. Ideally located between the beach and the historic Belmont Amusement Park. Clean establishment with a great wait staff. Memorable last evening.

The rooftop restaurant has great views but the food was or average at best. The hostess was unwelcoming but the server was nice and kind. Honestly, feeling unwelcome by the hostess on this Saturday ruined it for us. Does it kill to be a little nice???

Cannonball is upstairs and has an amazing view of the beach! A great place to sit and watch the sunset! The bar staff was fantastic! Super friendly and added to the wonderful atmosphere! The sushi might be the very best sushi I have ever had! I highly recommend the Enfuego!!

This awesome rooftop spot has the food to match. The lobster roll is over the top, my none sushi wife had a chicken panko sandwich that she loved. Perfect for a tourist lunch or a relaxing sunset hangout. Sometimes great locations don't have the food and folks to match, but this spot did not disapppoint.

I must first ask what am I being charged 5 plus dollars for a service fee. I asked the manager and he was not even sure how to explain it. As for the look of the place it is beautiful right on the water enough heat lamps to keep warm. Kid friendly bartenders were cool. Hostess gave us a table we wanted to move to very accommodating waiter was good left tons of empty glasses on table which to me is unacceptable as for the food shrimp app was horrible almost tasted like frozen shrimp. Pork was tender seasoning was not to my liking but tender rolls were just good I am asking everyone right now and they say average just ok Americanized sushi. lobster spinach dip was awesome. I don’t think I would go back actually I know I will not go back service charge is a bunch of BS to me.

Great view from the second story. The sushi was good and service above average and everyone was polite. My wife's hamburger was ordered medium and came out rare. They cooked a new one and it was well done. Other than that we were well pleased with the view and the food.

The food was incredible. I enjoyed the Ahi Tuna sandwhich and the Thai vinaigrette had a nice bite to it on the salad. The Mahi-Mahi tacos were good too. However, when it came to seating for my son in a wheelchair, most of the tables were raised and not available for him to transfer into. The firepit seating was nice, but still wasn't particularly easy for my son to eat from - the table was knee-high. They did not offer us any tables that he would be able to roll up to. For a non-special-needs family, I would recommend this restaurant in a heart-beat, but if you have special needs, give it a second thought.

The Cannonball restaurant has great views of the beach, friendly staff, Ok food, and it comes with a high price tag. We were in a group of 21 and the amazing staff opened an area for us so we could have our own private seating area. Everyone loved the views as we stayed from an hour before dusk till the moon was high in the sky. The food was about average. With that said, you come here for one thing ... the view. The fact that they serve drinks is a plus, and the food is a lowly third. Their food prices were high for the quantity and flavor. But again, you don't come here for the food.

On a whim decided to walk up the stairs to Cannonball's rooftop oasis. Received a pleasant greeting and were seated immediately at a prime table along the glass partition between us and the ocean. Had a delightful waiter named Michael who we wish we had in every single restaurant we go to. The edamame was delicious in a light ponzu sauce and kicked up with garlic and togarashi spice. Also enjoyed the most tender calamari ever and who knew toasted crunchy cashews went perfect with calamari? It was delicious! Also a spicy tuna roll that rivals the spicy tuna we get in Hawaii where we live. Service was exceptional and quick. Would highly recommend for an afternoon bite with an amazing view.

Tried the spicy garlic edamame and the lobster roll. Absolutely worth every dollar!!! I will be making this a frequent stop every time I come to San Diego.

Best views of the Pacific. It's a very chill place. The staff overall is pleasant, but it necessarily naturally warm. They do have heat lamps for chilly evenings as well. The Sushi is wonderful. My husband's burger was pretty good as well, but it's definitely a great place for sushi.

I arrived around 4:45 and was promptly seated at "the rail" and the previous dishes and debris were still present. My waiter was quick and I ordered a $20 drink and $25 sushi roll. Then I waited. My food arrived in about 20 minutes (no biggie), but the server said she'd be right back with soy sauce... I waited another 15 minutes and had to flag her down to remind her so I could actually eat. I also asked about my drink order and for more water. She said she would find my waiter. The waiter arrived 15 minutes later to check in.... I asked for more water and my drink order. He ran to grab the drink - he forgot - it had been 45 minutes and the drink wasn't really cold anymore. The food is mediocre and the service is terrible. They count on their location and tourists, but not repeat business.

recently had lunch here. I liked the seating upstairs. great views. I sat at the bar and had lunch and a few beers. decent selection. Had the broccoli lobster dip. Not bad but not great. Lobster was a bit overcooked. I wished i had known about their sushi. guy next to me had it. Looked great. Only negative is they were severely understaffed. Was a nice day so it was crowded. one bartender was serving the bar and all the wait staff. Tough to do. Would definitely stop back for the sushi.

Had an excellent dinner at this restaurant. Service was good and view of ocean was impeccable! Would definitely recommend the cannonball burger!

We’ve been to this area many times and finally discovered this gem! The shishito pepper appetizers are amazing, definitely enough for 2+ people as an app. Our server Michael was super nice, and the outdoor seating with an ocean view is perfect!

Good views. Need to clean the glass! Friendly staff. Need better wine by glass selection. Out of stock but... we have the most expensive option for you. Bad ploy to increase check + it was reflected in the tip. Chairs super uncomfortable straps. Will say food was solidly good. The reason for three stars is it's not someplace to go back to. It's a big, noisy, tourist pricing restaurant. Much better value at several other Mission Beach venues. If u must go...try the lobster balls.

The location can't be beat. This restaurant is right on the beach and on the second floor. Great place for people watching and sunsets. Food is ok though. The best roll is the protein roll, all others are ok. Great place to have some drinks with friends on the beach. Good service.

Went here because friends in our party love sushi & a local recommended it. I don’t eat sushi - so this review is for fellow non-sushi eaters who may end up here because someone else selected it. We got there about 45 minutes before they closed on a Sunday night so we were sat right away & it wasn’t busy. Service was good. Wings were a large portion & they were decent. Another in our party got the burger & fries and said it was alright. Those that are sushi said the miso soup was good; spicy. Tuna sashimi was good & so we’re some of the rolls. The rooftop deck is a great atmosphere with plenty of space heaters. Because we arrived closer to closing they’d already thrown out their iced tea & coffee for the night & wouldn’t make us dessert. That was a bummer.

We had a delicious sushi dinner at sunset overlooking the ocean, accompanied by a glass of wine. And, there was a guitarist playing good songs during our meal. All in all, a great first night in San Diego enjoying the weather and tasty food. My adult daughter and I enjoyed it so much, we went back again the next night at sunset. Service was excellent both nights. It was a a little cooler the second night, but the heaters made it comfortable to still enjoy being outside with a great view. Three types of sushi and seared salmon entree were all good. Highly recommend.

Food was fabulous and service excellent! The view over looking the beach and ocean were incredible! I had Oysters which were some of the best I've had in years. My coworker loved the fish tacos. It's difficult to find large fresh oysters living in the desert. A must try.

Great spot! I wanted a view and some fresh cocktails and I got it! A bonus was fantastic Sashimi and Rolls! The sushi and sashimi was extremely fresh plus had a bunch of great cocktails while enjoying the view of MB! Thanks a bunch to the awesome staff!

You can sit at a high top/bar that looks out on to the ocean. It's a huge place with various options including around a fire pit of sorts. Great drinks and excellent sushi are available. Even in the cool evening they have ample heaters available so no need to worry about that if you choose to sit outside.

The location is great, and the food was excellent. The lobster roll was my favourite but all the food was good. We shared some sushi dishes, and there was a good choice for the kids. The service was friendly and efficient. Thanks, Max.

Not only was it SO beautiful to watch the sunset on the ocean... but the sushi here was great! Our waitress was awesome and attentive as well. We really enjoyed the live music too. ^.^

Lovely views whilst enjoying a cold beer! We had the calamari which was AMAZING, but then had the shrimp too which we hated. However overall lovely spot for some lunch would recommend

Food was ok. Mahi tacos were pretty bland and the fries came out Luke warm. I guess it's a tourist location, and I'm a tourist. Good for drinks and a great view of Mission Beach and the ocean are it's selling points.

We were visiting from out of town and had 4 small kids with us. They sat us a table with "U" shaped couch seating which was so perfect for the kids and us adults enjoyed it as well. Love that this place is rooftop and looks over the beautiful ocean. The Enfuego roll was amazing and so fresh! Loved the garlic edemame and we got the 3 rolls from happy hour menu which were also really good. Our server was amazing though and I wish I remembered her name! She was so patient with the kids, really nice to them and didn't ignore them or act annoyed. She helped with suggestions on drinks and actually talked with us. Can't wait to visit again, I will for sure make this a stop next time.

We loved Cannonball. We could see the ocean from our table and saw dolphins swimming by while we ate. The atmosphere was great, modern/trendy. Food was very good (pay a slight premium for overlooking the ocean, as expected). We loved the spicy edemamme. Our server Max E was excellent. Would highly recommend, particularly if you want to be overlooking the beach/ocean. Will go back if we are in town again.

Had the BEST dinner here!! Yummy drinks, great service! We got the spicy edamame, shishito peppers, the cannonball burrito, and a few different rolls and all 4 of us enjoyed it so so much! We had a great view over looking the beach. We would definitely recommend this place and would definitely go back!

I am not a seafood eater and was worried that I would not find something I liked or it wouldn't be very good. Glad to say I was wrong. They have a fantastic cheeseburger. The restaurant is huge and right on the ocean. Our server, Drew was highly attentive and did a great job.

My family had dinner here our first night staying on Mission Beach. Atmosphere and sunset view of the ocean are amazing! We had several sushi rolls and edamame as an appetizer. Edamame was very good with just the right amount of spice and the rolls were very fresh. Dinner for the four of us ran approximately 150.00 with tip. Expensive, but you're paying more for the scenery than the food. Would recommend doing it at least once to experience it at sunset.

I had dinner with a couple of coworkers here on a warm late summer evening. Cannonball is the upstairs part of a large building at the south end of Belmont Park. Decor is very modern, and there are incredible views of Mission Beach and the Pacific from many tables. We had some great, fresh sushi and some terrific San Diego beers as well. Highly recommend and can't wait to return again.

I went for business/solo traveler so I was lucky enough to snag (what I thought was the best seat in the house) a great seat without reservations around 6:45 which is my recommended time to go (at least in August) as the sun set at around 7:45 and the view was mesmerizing the entire time. I sat on the top floor and basically took several photos of the ever-changing view while I ate. Enough about the view (though it truly is amazing, AND I spotted dolphins swimming around the surf just after the sunset and a shooting star just after it got dark). The service was fantastic. Billy was my server and he was super polite and attentive. The food came out a bit slow, but that was fine with me as I was able to enjoy the view. Now to the food. The spicy edamame was super unique and very tasty. I appreciated that Billy warned me about the spice and even asked the chef to tone it down a bit which was necessary for my spice sensitivities. I ordered the Lobster Roll and the Enfuego Roll. Let me preface this by saying that I am a sushi junkie and live in NYC. I know fresh fish and I expected the same quality here. My Enfuego Roll smelled fishy when it arrived which was a bit of cause for concern. It tasted okay. The crab wasn't very flavorful and I only had a few pieces. Luckly I didn't have to waste it as I made a friend who ate the remaining pieces. The Lobster Roll was much better, though I should have requested no jalapeños, (sorry, just not a fan of peppers) but they were very easy to remove. The yamagobo was a bit weird texturally. Overall the flavor was delicious. They were VERY filling (for me, at least, probably due to the tempura fried panko). Another aside, I was also surprised to see escolar on the menu as I often read that it has many unsavory effects on the human body. I was in a resort area, so I accept a certain "touristy" quality of food, which is why I still gave it 4 stars. The ambiance was lovely, there was a band downstairs, the vibe was friendly and you can have conversations without yelling and the seating was comfortable. If I was in Mission Bay again, I would probably go back for sure.

Great view over looking beach. Some wine, and sushi rolls. We both really liked the Lobster Roll. Bottle of water served with dinner. Cool, Hip place to relax, watch the sunset, and have a romantic date night.

This food was the highlight of all the places we ate in San Diego. So good that we went back the last day for another dinner. Location was great and the employees are really nice. Knowledgeable and perfect service. Rob was our server and he was great.

My friends and I enjoyed an appetizer of Lobster & Spinach. Ir was more then enough for 3 of us to share and big chucks of Lobster Claw. We shared an order of Fish Tacos. There are 3 tacos crispy and tasty. The view was to die for...

We arrived an hour early for our booking and we were accommodated with no proble at all. We weren't ready to eat and we weren't rushed at all to order so we had a nice few relaxing beers. Wait staff were all very pleasant and attentive. The place was clearly very busy but we weren't rushed and the staff all remained calm and pleasant. The view from the open-air rooftop is outstanding across the beach and the sea. It doesn't get any better than this! Live guitarist/singer was excellent. The food was excellent and not over-priced given the stunning location. Would definitely recommend.

What a wonderful restaurant. The sushi was delicious and the setting amazing (patio overlooking the beach.) Really was a perfect evening.

I have been here 4 times over 2 trips to San Diego this last year. I had to go more than once each trip because it's quite an experience. The views are incredible. We even saw dolphins swimming along shore on our last visit. They offer typical sushi along with some more creative choices. It's quality food, maybe slightly overpriced, but you cannot beat eating sushi with this breathtaking view!

I had dinner here two nights in a row as the view on the roof top restaurant was fabulous and the food and view were very good too. We had a range of food from the burger (very good!) to sushi and sashimi. The sushi was fabulous and perfect. Sat at the bar and had great service and good drinks well prepared. Very casual. I wish I had gone back my third night as this was so good. Highly recommend for the food and the sunset views.

This was probably our favorite restaurant during our 12 day vacation. The view is absolutely perfect - right on the ocean, and the food is outstanding. We love sushi, and were thrilled with the five different rolls our group ordered and shared. We highly recommend you visit this restaurant. The service was also very friendly and prices were reasonable for the location.

Greeted by not so friendly host staff and passed off to an overwork wait staff. The whole experience was underwhelming and disappointing. Won't go back

The atmosphere was really nice. There were heaters as the evening cooled down. The sushi was light and fresh, albeit not the most flavorful. Waitress was really sweet.

Cannonball is a great place to sit, watch the ocean and the sunset. It is a very cozy place, surrounded with glass balconies as to not block the view but still be protected from the wind on windy days. There are many really great seating areas for larger groups, complete with fire pits and heaters for colder nights. They have a fantastic sushi menu. We tried several but loved the Dragon Roll. Upon John David's suggestion we had the cream cheese replaced with avocado. So delicious! The staff were so amazing and a big thank you to John David for his great service!!!! For extra fun, Thursdays has live music. Gold Standard Band was absolutely amazing!!!!!

The beach & the proximity to the ocean (aka on the beach) are the main draws of Cannonball. The sushi is incredibly average if bland and the service is the slowest I've experienced in a while. To wit, my friend and I waited 45 minutes for 1 sushi roll when there were hardly any patrons in the bar. If you can flag a bartender, they are all very nice, but again, took me 20 minutes to catch one's attention. Also, I was surprised that they only had 1 non-IPA on tap; in a place like SD, I'd love to see more options from the many wonderful local breweries. If you're in a particularly beachy mood and don't mind waiting a while, this is an average option.
Great food/bar and views
Ate here with five friends, the views were incredable, food excellent and lively atmosphere. the whole place is an outdoor rooftop restaurant, beautifully designed with plenty of awnings, heaters, glass wind barriers. Seating includes several couch areas with firepits, very comfortable (we were there during a chilly period)
