Tasty Food

By Saravana M |

Tasty food well served quickly and with nice hot tea. Ribs we ordered as appetizer was very good. Singapore Noodles and house special fried rice stands out . Friendly service and value for money.

Cantonese that reminds me of SFO's Chinatown!

By ARodriguezP |

This small spot on the western outskirts of Miami's famous SW 8th street (Calle Ocho) has what I consider some of the most authentic Cantonese style food in the Miami area. Every time I've enjoyed a meal here it reminds me of times I've been in San Francisco trying out their wonderful Chinatown restaurants. Dim sum is available throughout the day and the selections are as varied as they are delicious! Check their daily specials written on a dry erase board on the back wall of the dining room. Service is efficient if not overly friendly due to the language barrier that one many times finds in restaurants that are the real deal, anyhow I come for the satisfying dishes not to make life long friends! Definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in all of South Florida! Give it a try,if you know good Cantonese I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Georgeous Cantonese food

Quality Chinese food, huge portions, great taste. A lot of Asian diners is a good sign. Really enjoyed it all, but would especially recommend orange chicken and dim sum.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Miami

By cherylchin |

The food here is always very good. Great variety and equally great service. I like to have dimsum appetizers with my main meal. Their salt and pepper dishes are the best in town. Shrimp wonton soup, pork congee, pan fried noodles, ginger and scallion sea bass and sweet and sour pork chops are among my faves here.

Great Dim Sum Spot

By Keith T |

Visited here on Easter Sunday for dim sum. Made booking and were promptly seated. Ordered mainly dim sum items and one or two dishes off the menu. Everything was very good, particularly the dim sum. Used to automatically go to Tropical Restaurant for dim sum but much prefer Canton Palace. While smaller, u aren't bumping elbows with others when eating and u don't feel as if the the staff is trying to get u out quickly so they can sit new customers at your table. Also quite a bit cheaper. Will definitely be back again.

Authentic Cantonese Chinese Food

By katewoman612 |

We went with friends and they ordered all the Dim Sum and other dishes, it was certainly different than American Chinese. My husband does not enjoy very wet food, or food floating in thin soupy sauces so it was not his favorite. It was o.k. for me but I prefer pot stickers, firmer, less soupy food, too. The eggplant in a thick soy sauce and the seafood combination which was with crispy egg noodles - it was a bit of a rib-off, they had fake crab meat in it, small frozen shrimp not fresh for sure and the calamari/squid and other fish were hard to find in the mixture of noodles and some veggies; the roasted garlic chicken was tender but nothing very special. Dim Sum some were stuffed with mystery meat lacking flavor so you really weren't sure what you were eating.

Nice dinner

By tjenfang2 |

Canton Palace is not the only Chinese restaurant I town, but it is definitely one of the better ones if you like Cantonese food for Chinese people. We had a nice dinner here for my mom's birthday. We had West Lake Soup to start the meal. That was okay, just remember to add white pepper to your taste, I usually like a fair amount. Add Chinese red vinegar if you like it sour, but try just a small amount to your spoon with some soup before putting it into your bowl. We ordered the following for dinner and all were yummy: Salt and Pepper Pork Chop, Chicken and Ham-yee(Chinese dry salt fish) Fried Rice, Sweet Potato Leaves with Fermented Tofu sauce, PayPa Tofu, Eggplant stuffed with Shrimp Paste with Black Bean sauce, and Say Gway Doe(minced beef with Green Beans). Everything was so yummy. As in most Chinese restaurants when you order off of the more authentic Chinese menu, you usually get some sliced oranges. They also have dim sum everyday in the morning/afternoon. I'm sure you can order some in the evening with an additional charge(limited availability).

below average

Although Chinese food quality in Miami is not comparable to other mayor cities, Canton Palace is far below average in all aspects such as dim sum, simple Cantonese dishes and even fried rice or noodles.

Family run, neighborhood restaurant serves great Canton dishes and excellent Dim Sum

By Larry S |

This family-run Chinese restaurant serves excellent Canton food and Dim Sum. It rivals restaurants I have visited in major cities without the high prices. We have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. Located slightly west of the SW 8th Street exit of the Palmetto Expressway, it is easy to reach from most of Miami.

Excellent Quality and more than Adequate Quantity

By Grace-Ann G |

Best Chinese food I've had in a long long time. My first indication that this must be good when there are a significant amount of Chinese diners. Worth the visit.

Great traditional Chinese food

By Rolo |

Best in the area for real chinese food, great dumplings, vegetables and even the tofu is great. different kind of mushrooms, like no where else. I visit them at least twice a week. Most of the people that go there are chinese people.

Excellent Chinese food! Despite the way it looks....

A friend invited me to this place on a Sunday afternoon. When I arrived, it's in a shopping center and it didn't look very nice. Then, when I walked in, it smelled like cooked cabbage or broccoli (not pleasant), so I was not excited to eat here. However, as a compensating factor, I looked around and noticed almost every table was full and every table had Asian diners. This was a good sign, so I felt comfortable enough to stay. Large parties just kept coming in as well, so I knew it must be a popular place. My party was 6 people and we ordered various dim sum, a duck soup, and a plate of pan fried egg noodles with seafood. Originally, I was going to order my usual--shrimp in lobster sauce, but I saw another table eating the seafood and egg noodles and it looked amazing, so I changed my mind. I was so glad I did, because it was EXCELLENT. I complimented the food every time I took a bite, no exaggeration. I highly recommend this dish, but I also enjoyed the dim sum too. Better yet, when we got the bill, it was only $66!!! And we fed 6 adults!! And I took home leftovers!!! I am still amazed that I was able to eat shrimp, scallops, squid, duck, etc. and it cost almost nothing (mine was the most expensive at $14.95, but had shrimp, scallops, crab, and squid, and it could EASILY feed 3 adults). Why are people still eating Burger King???? If you like Chinese food, I HIGHLY recommend you go here. No idea what happened with this other guy who left a review, but the food is amazing and a great value. Ambiance is lacking, but forgiveable once you taste the food.

Dim sum

By Daniel C |

One of the best places to eat dim sum in Miami. For the price and quantity, nothing can top it. Other places are much more expensive and offer a lot less food. Canton palace had big portions at cheaper prices. Only issue is that you have to order it, rather than having carts going around.

Best Cantonese food in town

By JohnW1111 |

This is my favorite local family authentic Chinese restaurant in town. Very good dimsum too. The decor is ok, service is average but the Food is delicious! Try the specials written in the board, you can't go wrong with does. I love the conch with mixed vegetables plus their ginger scallion beef.

Great Homey Cantonese Cuisine

By tjenfang2 |

Miami is definitely not a great Chinese cuisine destination, well for that matter any Asian cuisine. However this little restaurant comes up with consistently tasty Cantonese cuisine. They have 2 menus to choose from: western(front of menu)?or more authentic Chinese choices(towards the back, on the black board near the kitchen entrance or purely in Chinese). Have no idea what's on the purely Chinese menu, but you have enough choices from the regular and on the board. This time we only had 4 dishes for 4 diners: PeiPa Tofu, Peking Porkchops(queen dos kwet), Snow Pea tips stir fried with garlic, and walnut Shrimps. PeiPa tofu is a Chinese tofu fritter that has shrimp, tofu of course, plus egg white, cilantro minced shrimp quickly homogenized into a slurryish consistency. Served with a nice brown exterior that is piping hot if you should eat right away, burning roof of the mouth heat wise. Peking pork chops is one our favorite dish that requires patience to eat. a deep fried pieces' of crusted pork goodness which the gets one version of a kind of sweet sour sauce that is definitely not that red glop you usually see. Snow Pea tips was our quickly stir fried vegetable dish that was simply cooked with garlicky goodness. The dish was spooked with The correct amount of Dragon's breath. Last but not least was the Candy Walnut Shrimp dish. Quick flash fried shrimp mixed in with a white semi sweet sauce and candy walnuts served with a small Forrest of broccoli spears. Of course at the end of the meal you get some complimentary orange slices. This place has a myriad of other wonderfully prepared Cantonese dishes and including typical dim sum dishes. Take a chance and be a little adventurous when ordering.

Every time we go to this restaurant,

Every time we go to this restaurant, always pleasant staff , Very good food, family oriented place, we go there at least once a month. Recommended.

Good value for excellent food at a reasonable price in a very warm setting.

By Sharma L |

Quality and taste of food was excellent. We ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice and it seemed to have an endless supply of fresh tasty shrimp. Very friendly, at-home ambiance with an intimate feel. Avoid over-ordering since meal portions are huge. My wife and I went for dinner and had enough food to take away for two additional meals (we just ordered an appetizer and two entrees). Prices are very reasonable and the service was great. The owners have locked in a definite repeat customer.

Big portions

By ana carolina f |

Good cost-benefit, we ordered the dim sum platter ($14.95) for two thinking it would be an appetizer but it was enough for me, I barely touched the seafood wok ($16), had to take it home. Although it was big, I found the dim sum flat... Service was fast but not friendly.

Great Dinner

By Keith T |

Finally had a full meal here rather than just dim sum. The portions were large and the food delicious. The salt/pepper shrimp are highly recommended. Will definitely be returning here.

Decent food at a reasonable price

By FYL003 |

Dim sum quality was solid, food was cooked only after the order was placed. This avoids the dim sum sitting out too long. The glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leave reminisced the food served in the old Hong Kong tea house. We tried out the fried rice and noodles, both were good. The service was efficient and the wait staff was friendly and we even saw them smile which was not usually the case in Chinese restaurants.

Canton Palace

By nlitli |

One of the best chinese restaurants in Miami, small family oriented. Very good dim sum, do not go very late for lunch because some items tend to run out, even if only been open for an hour. Service is good.

Good dim sum and price the same.

By Johnson Wai |

We came for the first time, and ordered some dim sum didnt have to wait long before our food arrived. Up to this point the server was kind and make sure we werent missing anything. We got some fried rice, congee, siu mai, fung chow, stuff egg plant, spare ribs in black beans, and some chinese vegetables, The whole came to $ 55 and gave like 15% tips on top so the server reminded us, that it was 18% didnt quite get that, however decided to pay that extra. However i got lost, we were only 2 adult amd 1 child and he wanted us to give 18% on top was just over the edge, i mean everywhere else has been15% ! So you just served some dishes and added some water ! That was embarassing i thought. Anyway the dim sum as alright, but the 18% was just to much i think.

Authentic Cantonese fare

For all the Cantonese food lovers, this is your โ€œjointโ€. We enjoyed an all vegan Cantonese dinner. Try the tofu hot pot and the many Chinese vegetables. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

Ok Chinese

By jdiaz1791 |

Is ok food, 2 big menus, average price, all the regular Chinese traditionals , take out , very salty food, like chop suey the best, not fancy looking, strip mall just west of the Palmetto.

authentic Chinese food

By TravelerHK42 |

Authentic Chinese food is not easy to come by in Miami. This is one of the few sanctuaries. Reasonable prices as well.

Delicious!

By Gisselle C |

The place was packed on the Saturday that my family of 10 went. The lady at the front was very nice, keeping us updated on when we could get a table. Food was real good, I would definitely recommend it!

Dine Chinese food like you were in China.

By matone820 |

Love eating dim sum at this restaurant. Almost all the tables filled with Asian customers. Has to say something about the excellence of their Chinese food. Fast and courteous service. Located in a strip mall. Don't go for the view go for the food!!

Under the Dim Sum Radar

By SHFT54 |

Having tried all the others I don't hesitate claiming this is the best dim sum in Miami, PERIOD! Well at least my Cantonese wife and some members of her family think so, as do I. Sure limp noodles, so called food critics and wanna be foodies will tell you South Garden and Tropical are better. Maybe they enjoy the lukewarm food off of carts prepared 6 hours ago option. A recent New Times article listing the best dim sum places in Miami actually had the audacity to list Kon Chau as #1. Laughable seeing as how I couldn't even finish my meal there. Preferring to actually stop eating to get a hot dog across the street(no joke). But I'm told they used to be good. Canton finished in a respectable 4th on their list. Maybe Canton's anonymity and obscure location out west on 8th Street prevent dim sum lovers from going. If not for Yelp and the ability to check in, my friends, family and I would probably still be referring to it as simply "8th Street". Alright enough fluff, here's why Canton is so good. Dim Sum is made to order, ensuring the proper crispiness, sponginess, freshness, deliciousness of every plate. They hand you a long, distinguished, extensive list of dim sum and you go to town ordering as much as you heart desires. Everything is good however my favorite dim sum dishes are the fried spring rolls, shrimp balls, clams in black bean sauce, chicken feet, pan seared chive dumpling and congee. They also have great dishes to accompany dim sum, most notably the pork stuffed bitter melon, beef chow fun(best in this city to date), and my absolute favorite, something called lo sui ping on. I'm not sure it has an American translation and most dim sum restaurants here don't even bother making this dish. It's a tofu and fish paste dish that resembles a Chinese omelette filled with shrimp, mushrooms, and green onion. It's soft egg like texture makes it the perfect side dish for Dim sum. They know me here, so even when I'm not with my Chinese family they usually say "I know you, you marry Chinese girl", and my service is always impeccable. May differ for others, but it should be fast and efficient even if it's not overly friendly.

We are on a road trip and are not used to America food. This is the best Chinese restaurant we tried in Florida (Orlando, Sarasota and Miami). The staff is very helpful.
