So much fun

By MattNEmma |

Great atmosphere, friendly stuff, delicious drinks. Love this place. They have a large selection on tap and board games. Food menu is a bit limited so don't come hungry. Just come thirsty!

Disappointing at best

By LodiDazzles |

Was super excited to try this place which came highly recommended. Made reservations for a Friday evening. Met family who was here from out of state. While we knew we were at a cider restaurant with a bar, none of us planned on ordering alcohol. Our waitress seemed disappointed and made an odd statement about us not wanting to order alcohol. Then she proceeded to interrupt our conversation on multiple occasions, it was very awkward. We ordered appetizers and entrees. Most of what we ordered was not impressive. For the cost, portions were very small. The only really good entrée was the risotto. The rest we did not finish nor was it good enough to box up to go. The waitress again made an odd comment about our leftovers.

Great GF restaurant - even for those not GF!

By Elke S |

So delicious! Fun art and they host a ton of events - cribbage, shows, etc. Our travel agent recommended this place since my sister is gluten free, but I loved it! And I don’t have any dietary restrictions. Everything is well labeled, well thought out, and have I mentioned that it was DELICIOUS? Read about the art :-)

Amazing selection of ciders and decent food...

By tike1 |

If you like your cider (or even of you don't!) this is a great place to visit. Can sample a huge selection of ciders (the "flights" are a great way to sample a few) and get really decent food. Great atmosphere as well. A must-visit if cider is your thing!

Delicious fish and chips

By SteaksMom |

The food was excellent, if a bit pricey. We ordered 2 fish and chips and 2 ciders but ended up with (and paid for) 3 orders of fish. The check for lunch was $87! The fish was lightly battered and fried and the fries were delish! Service was pleasant. The toilet was a clean 1-seater.

This places is really two different places - know which you're going to and why

By Matt S |

Upstairs, which is at ground level, is a restaurant. Downstairs is a bar/gaming area. They're two different worlds. This review is about the upstairs restaurant. They had pages and pages of ciders available. Dry ones, sweet ones, Washington ones, International ones. If you like ciders or want to try ciders, I highly recommend going here, just go down stairs to the bar area. Everything on the menu is gluten free. They have a gluten free kitchen. The upstairs restaurant served food which was ok. Nothing wowed anybody in our party. The batter on the fish and chips tasted ever so slightly sweet which I guess I failed to appreciate. The server seemed to be having a bad day. He was dealing with a large party and was slow getting to us repeatedly. We ran out of water and he spilled cider on me. I liked the framed paintings on the walls and they have outside seating as well. The prices were slightly high for what you get in my opinion. I'm looking forward to returning to taste more ciders in the bar but there really isn't any reason to go for a meal in the restaurant area. There are better tasting and better value places to look even for those who want gluten free options.

Hard Cider Time

By Anne N |

Upon walking into Capitol Cider I was struck by the ambiance - a place to hang out and relax a bit with food and cider. The cider was delicious - made from Washington apples. The

Fish & chips are amazing!

By Tracy B |

I really love the fish & chips here.. I have a hard time ordering anything else because the fish and chips are so good! It's all gluten free and I'm crazy sensitive to gluten and I've never had an issue. All the food is gluten free so it's no problem to try everyone's food!

Celiac's dream

By GoSeeGlutenFree |

I can’t remember the last time I had chicken wings, a hamburger, fries, and a (gluten-free) beer – and this place had them all. We came back two more times during our 3 day visit because our meal there was THAT good, and my 2 non-gluten-free travel buddies loved their meals as much as I did. Zach, our waiter, was exceptional. This is a must-stop for ANYONE in Seattle – great quality American fare.

A place for cider drinkers to call home

By sdbooklover13 |

I'm not a beer person. I actually hate beer. However, I hang out with people that drink beer especially craft beer which means I spend a lot of time in breweries. Most breweries have one cider available and that has become my go to drink. When I found out a brewery existed that specialized in ciders, I had to visit immediately. The list of ciders was great. They had your traditional, raspberry, and pumpkin! They were all yummy and high percentage. Please come to San Diego :)

Best meal of my holiday

By charltonchick |

If you are a coeliac, or even if you aren't, this is such a lovely place to eat. Firstly, the entire menu is gluten free. Secondly, there's a huge choice of ciders. Mostly cider, on this continent, is pretty crap ( soz, just being honest), but here you can choose from a huge variety of interesting, subtle, and classy ciders. We had to walk 40 mins in the heat to get to this restaurant, but we ended up going two nights' running because it was so good. Nice decor, cool atmosphere, friendly service, gorgeous food ( I had fish and chips both nights - couldn't resist!), and most importantly, peace of mind and unlimited menu browsing for us coeliacs. Loved it!

Gluten free heaven, and fabulous cider, too!

By Diane P |

Oh, my! Oh, my! Oh, my! Gluten free!!! Cheese curds-I will drive 300 miles tor these! Also had the polenta, add a bit of butter-ibcredible comfort food! Salad and burger were incredible! May have to come back tomorrow! (Perfect staff, Too!)

Vast Menu

By RevGetch |

Cider is one of my favorite drinks, but is often harder to find on some menus. This restaurant had tons of ciders, from multiple fruits--not just apple. Everyone in my group had different orders, and we all were extremely pleased!

Excellent cider choices - terrible food

By HuskyDude |

First the cider - the Snowdrift Seckel Perry is worth a trip. If you came in, had the perry, then left you would be OK. If you stay for dinner --- different story. My wife's dinner: she ordered the "half pound burger". OK - it's a burger. It's hard to make a burger really great, but it's also hard to make one that's really, really bad. Start with mushrooms cooked to death, and end with a bun that is burned and crushed completely flat, and you've got what showed up on the table. The patty was almost a ball, instead of a patty. Somehow the cook managed to get it drier than I would expect from a sawdust ball. I had the Spicy Sausage Rigatoni for $19. The taste was fine. I wish I had a scale to weigh the portion - smaller than most appetizers. I stopped at Dick's on the way home for dinner. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable and we were near the door. Surprisingly, it didn't make much difference if the door was open or closed, it was cold the whole time. I don't get cold easily and I was glad to go. My wife was practically freezing by the time we left. We ended up leaving quite a bit later than we wanted to. The wait staff apologized several times, but the meal still took 45 minutes from placing the order until it was served. I suspect the burger patty and the bun were on the grill the entire 45 minutes. So - try the Perry, but go someplace else for dinner - there are lot of good choices within two blocks. You can likely find the perry someplace else too.

Plentiful cider choices and delicious food

By Kenna F |

Celiac sufferers run the risk of endangering themselves with gluten-free items at restaurants because of cross-contamination. No risk here! The menu is 100% gluten-free, which makes the experience much less stressful. I had the rigatoni and it was delicious. I was expecting pub food, but it was much higher quality than that. And if you like cider, you'll be in heaven. The options were plentiful, and I'm not sure that I even saw the whole list. The menu also lists pairing suggestions for the entrees! I had to sit at the bar, as it was a relatively crowded Friday evening, but that didn't dampen the experience. Service was friendly. And downstairs they have more of a "bar" atmosphere with shuffleboard and board games. Between the alcohol and food, it was a bit pricier than I would have liked, but overall I felt like it worth it.

A cider drinkers heaven

By travelmaniac07 |

This is definitley the place to go if you like your cider, it would take you a few weeks to get through all that they have to offer, even if you are not a cider drinker, I'm certain you could find something here that would be pleasing to your palet. We were only here for a shor visit, whilst doing a little pub crawl around Seattle, however we found the atmosphere pleasing, and the food was good, and was great for me with the gluten free offerings on the menu. A place I would be happy to go back to and spend a bit more time. The staff were busy but friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

Downstairs bar is nice surprise

By Pam L |

Downstairs bar has two shuffleboard tables and a lot of room, nut still feels cozy. Over 15 beers on tap and even more cider on tap. We really liked the "Grilled Beef Koftas – Pomegranate, Chili-citrus Yogurt, Mint".

From ‘meh’ to ‘yeah!’

By norkoz |

I have dined at Capitol Cider several times over the past couple of years and have been grateful to have a safe 100% gluten free place to eat with mostly very good starters, sides and main courses. The short ribs are excellent and on our recent visit we enjoyed very tender duck with lentils, as good as I have had anywhere. But the desserts were a huge disappointment until recently—so below par I actually wrote an email to the owners. Then they hired a pastry chef! What a difference. The drunken apple cake on my recent visit was delicious, tender and moist (difficult to achieve with gluten-free cakes, as I know from experience). Other diners told me the cheesecake and chocolate tart were good, too.I can’t wait to go back and try the other dessert offerings.

No worries, totally gluten free!

By SandraR2010 |

What a joy to be on vacation and not having to worry about what to eat. Capitol Cider is a gluten free restaurant. Before you say it may be tasteless think again. It was so good! Delicious! The choices were mind boggling. Everything was tasty! The ciders were great. Dessert was perfect! The service and decor was great as well. I will be there next visit to Seattle!

Great for Celiac Food

By JazzyCeliac |

The food here is 100% gluten free which is excellent for celiacs. It seems to be a twist on pub grub, burgers and small plates mainly. I had the calamari, pickles, and fried cheese curds. Excellent portion sizes and the food is delicious - the cheese curds were so moorish, and even though they are deep fried they didn’t feel heavy and afterwards I felt like I could eat a bucket more! It was great having so much choice. The only thing that lets the place down is the service. We were sat at the bar, the bartenders ignored us for the majority of the time we were there. They were incredibly rude when we first arrived and it really put us off - we would have stayed for more food and drinks if they had been more attentive - I don’t care about swearing at all, but I could hear them swearing and complaining about customers the entire time we were there. Disappointing, as I’d heard such great things about the place and the food was great.

Tasty pub fare that happens to be gluten free

By kayteeYVR |

During a short visit to Seattle, we ate at this casual Capitol Hill spot with our daughter and son in law, at the suggestion of our daughter, who requires a gluten free diet. It is so great that this restaurant has created a fully gluten free menu that still appeals to a broad customer base. Our daughter, no doubt like many others with celiac disease, has been (as she says) "glutened" many times when eating out, a very uncomfortable experience. I ordered a steak salad while other orders at the table included fish and chips and a burger and fries. Three of us ordered cider flights, and one had a glass of wine. Food was tasty and it wasn't easy to tell it was gluten free. The fried items (battered fish, french fries) were particularly successful. I had been uneasy about ordering the steak salad because of the blue cheese dressing it came with, but the dressing was delicious (had enough acidity to balance the cheese) and married well with the steak. I only thing I didn't love was that the steak was in rather thick chunks - thinner slices across the grain might have been more tender. We enjoyed the various ciders we tried, and the wine by the glass was declared enjoyable too. Service, like the restaurant, had a bit of a casual vibe. It was OK, but not super attentive. We would eat here again.

Great good and it's all gluten free!

By cgreno |

So if you are celiac and in Seattle, I think this place is a must-go. We sat outside, in a very eclectic young neighborhood and people watched. There was a street festival and the music was fun too. My partner is celiac, so this place offered up a safe eating environment. We ordered up some ciders to get going. What I ordered wasn't available, so instead of coming back to me to ask about other choices, the server just brought me what she thought was comparable. Um, ok I guess? (I didn't like that she did that) We ordered the cinnamon bun as a 'starter' and holy moses was it ever good! You couldn't tell it was gluten free. Soft and warm and gooey and delicious!!!!!!! So that put a very large smile on my celiac dining partner's face. I ordered up what seemed to be an omelette with spinach and mushrooms (Mushroom Scramble Florentine). It tasted good, but the consistency was slimy and gooey. Couldn't do it. My partner ordered up the simple breakfast, and enjoyed every bite. The pan fries were really good.

Wish I could have had more meals here!

By QueenTraveler22 |

Not only is the entire menu gluten-free, but there are many options for people with other dietary issues as well. I had the pasta with mushroom sauce, and it was yummy! I wish I could have had a couple more meals here to fully explore the whole menu.

Fun place! great pub food.

By theoysterking |

with 30 taps, 20 of them reserved for Cider's, it was a fun place to learn and enjoy. Food was excellent and very reasonable in price. Huge place with downstairs bar that has entertainment on the weekends. A can't miss with a bunch of friends wanting to party and drink some great local brews.

Hmmmmm, hmmmmm good!

By SASSSSY |

We ate at capital cider a few times during our visit to Seattle. It was cozy and delicious. Many ppl come for the amazing cider selection but I came bc they could accommodate my gluten issues. We had the chili, fish/chips, steak and squash soup among other tasty treats. Wish this place was in my neighborhood!

Great cider, food, and service

By Mark S |

Our server, Zachary, did an awesome job. Two of us had very little experience with cider, and he was able to get a quick understanding of what we might like, and provided some great recommendations. All in all he did a great job. All of the different ciders we tried were excellent, and all of our food selections were tasty and well prepared. We highly recommend.

Gluten Free Dreams Coming True

By Jemmerson |

I got to have gluten free fish and chips! They were spectacular! We even got a gluten free cinnamon roll order to go. So so good!

Great location, great service

By ATraveller063 |

This restaurant had a great menu. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection! The chicken wings were undercooked, but the server promptly adjusted the tab. Capitol Cider is in a great nightlife location off of Broadway.

Amazing!

By McKinley A |

This was the first time I've ever been to a restaurant I could order anything I wanted. The fried chicken sandwich and cheese curds were amazing!! They were so good that it made me want to move to Seattle. Hopefully we'll be back someday.

Worst service ever

By 4jsor5 |

Never even made it to the food. Was seated, and after 30 minutes without a person coming to the table, not even for water or a drink order, we left. I can't review the food as we never saw any. Too bad, would have loved good GF food.

Amazing Cider & Gluten Free Menu

By JCAttle |

My husband and I recently went to Capitol Cider with another couple for happy hour, and we all loved it. The pub/restaurant has a great décor and ambiance that is atypical for the Northwest. The space was reminiscent of the traditional style pubs in New England. The main floor pub has a large collection of traditional style paintings that are by students from Seattle’s Gage School of Art. The lower level game room has a large fireplace, shuffleboard tables, and a selection of board games to play. The entire menu at the pub is gluten free, and the food was excellent. We ordered fish and chips, roasted vegetables, and brussel sprouts from the happy hour menu and also tried three different desserts – dark chocolate mousse, pumpkin tart, and apple crisp. Everything was delicious, fresh, high quality, and not noticeably gluten free. (Often gluten free offerings seem a bit off or have an aftertaste, but this was not the case at Capitol Cider.) My friend who is on a strict gluten free diet thought the food was some of the best gluten free Restaurant offerings she has had. Capitol Cider also has an extensive menu of draft and bottle ciders and beers. They have the largest cider selection in the Seattle area. We tried a few different ciders during our visit and our favorite was a seasonal, draft pumpkin cider. We are all looking forward to visiting Capital Cider again, so we can sample more of their menu and enjoy the game room.

Amazing little gem

By Carmen S |

Was looking for another restarauntwhen we stumbled upon this hidden little gem of a place, very quaint and homey. First of all i was greeted at the doorway immediately and when asked how they can accommodate gluten free they stated that everything that comes out of the kitchen is gluten free, that's an amazing accomplishment as i rarely find that anymore. We had a wonderful , friendly informative waiter named Steven who explained all GF options and gave us his perspective on the meals we were choosing. Well thank you Steven, you were not wrong, it was a wonderful meal that both me and my husband had. It was a treat to not worry about gluten or cross contamination. Thank you to both Capital Cider and Steven. We will be back if ever in Seattle.

Rude waiter

By Carles G |

I was visiting my sister and we went there to taste the cider but the waiter didnt want to serve me because I didnt have my passport. I had my ID! So we went to the next bar and we had no trouble.

Celiacs Dream

By Megan G |

I found this via an article from 2017 and figured we'd give it a shot. I am diagnosed Celiac and have been since 2005, so I was very interested in going to a place that is 100% Gluten Free. The cheese curds were delicious, but the breading was slightly grainy for the after-mouth feel which was a little off putting. However after finding out that I could sub fried chicken for the fish in the "Fish and Chips", I was sold. Total transparency here, I hadn't had real true fried chicken in 13 years, and this was the *perfect* foray back into the fold. The breading was seasoned perfectly and the chicken was moist and crunchy with every bite. We were there on a off hour time, so I can't speak to service if it is crazy busy, but all the employees were polite, helpful, and gave great recommendations. 10/10 for us!

Average food for a gourmet price

By Robert Z |

Capitol Cider has the reputation for being the first cider bar in Seattle and they serve gluten free food... That's about all it has going for it. While the decor is nice and the setting is above average compared to other restaurants around, I can't help but feel that the wait staff is a little to pretentious and snooty at times. 5 times I have been there and 4 of those times I've been given eye rolls and deep sighs for a simple question such as, "is this cider the driest you have?" The selection of ciders they have are sparse (surprising being a cider bar) at times, the markup is significant and more then one occasion they did not clear their line when they changed kegs. I remember asking for a Sonoma Pear and what was brought to me tasted like it had hot chillies in it. Come to find out (by the bar manager) they didn't clear the line from the last keg, which was a habanero cider, so the taste was surprising. The portions of food are decent, the taste is okay, but the price is anything but decent. Want a small chicken sausage? That'll be $12. Or how about overcooked duck breast for $26. It seems that every time I try their food, I get more and more reluctant to go back. Let's face it, Capitol Hill is changing, it's getting more expensive to enjoy drinks and a meal, but it doesn't mean you have to completely give up and throw high priced junk at me. I guess I'll go back in a month or two and see if things have improved... I'm sure the price won't.

Excellent food, on the overall.

By Mark M |

I had the beef short rib and my wife and daughter each had fish and chips. These were excellent, as was the dessert. The salads -- a waldorf and a green salad -- were very good, but not quite excellent. The service was excellent. I am not generally a cider drinker, so had a "flight" of three different cidars. The best of the lot was the more purple one, which had been aged in a wine or whiskey barrel. After sampling the three, I closed out with a cabernet, which is a standby. We will certainly go back.

Celiac heaven

By Kristina G |

The kitchen is completely gluten and peanut free. The service is top notch. The calamari was a little chewy, but still pretty good. I recommend the witches brew spiced cider. We had the fish and chips. It was awesome, the fish was tender and the fries were perfect. My friend got the burger and it was enormous. For desert we had the peach crisp, cheesecake, and bread pudding (my least favorite, but still tasty). I will be coming back the next time I am in Seattle.

Local cider

By yummyaddict111 |

Amazing place to hang out after work. Cider on tap with many choices. My favorite one at 12.5% sounds like Christmas. Their cider changes with the season, so it’s never became boring to us. The staff is passionate of the process of making cider and have many advice for all palate. The only thing is the food, I tried the ribs to share and I asked with less sauce as possible, 20 minutes later that came with lot of sauce like chocolate sauce who ruined my pairing with the cider. I will definitely come back for their cider but not their food.

Can't wait to go back

By Kathryn W |

I'm hoping to move to Seattle in a few months and I just know this will become one of my local spots. We stopped by for a flight before we grabbed some dinner and I was already sold. The ciders were delicious, there was a huge selection, and although we didn't try any food, it's great to know it's all gluten free. I'd love to try the food next time I go as it did look good. What I also liked about the place was the array of activity nights they seemed to have. When we went on a sunday, some jazz was going on downstairs. I also saw posters for movie nights, trivia nights, and even life drawing! I'm totally into it and can't wait to go back, whenever that will be.

Wanted to love it, but didn’t

By Sarah B |

As a person with Celiac disease, I really wanted to love this 100% gluten free spot. I was so excited and then disappointed. I sat at the bar, where the bartender was not at all friendly but provided adequate service when asked. I ordered a cider and appetizer. The fish and chips were ok. The fish was well cooked and the batter was crispy but it and the tartar sauce were bland. The fries were good but no better than Five Guys. So, $50 and an hour later and I’m unimpressed.

Hit or Miss

By averyyy016 |

A group of family members (all young professional age) came here for me as I am a huge Cider fan. We have a pregnant member who was able to try a few alcohol-free choices. I am usually very open to different side types. However, we ordered 4 different flights to try various ciders and between all of them, we maybe liked 2. I asked our waiter for help on selection and he was less then helpful saying, "if it has a fruit other than an apple in the orange it's probably sweet." So while I was so excited to visit this location, I was very disappointed.

Great Gluten Free place to eat

By goneinaheartbeat |

We had a great dinner here. This is a real treat for those with celiac disease as they are all gluten free. And it was delicious! They had a fun cocktail and wine list as well. A great place to go even without allergies!

Delicious brunch!

By joecdn |

Amazing brunch!! I had the short rib hash for brunch - which was an incredible combination of flavours and textures! The fact that this place is gluten free doesn't mean much to me, as I'm not celiac and rather enjoy pastries and breads - but the nice thing about eating gluten free is that you can eat well and not feel gross and bloated afterwards! Definitely check this place out - and their selection of ciders as well - cause who doesn't love alcoholic apple juice, right?

Go there to eat even if you don't like cider

By ScottRoby |

Yes, this is more tavern style food but it is delicious. It turned out to be one of the best places we ate all weekend. The service was fun and friendly, the variety of cider is amazing and the food just tasty. I am not a huge cider fan so they have a full bar and beer for those who want good eats but not cider.

If you like hard cider.....you will LOVE this place!

By Gary2425 |

These folks have an amazing selection of cider - on tap and bottled. Almost too many to choose from! The wait staff is very knowledgeable about their ciders and will offer suggestions based on your taste preferences. Not sure what to try? Order a flight...several to choose from. In addition to a huge selection of ciders, their food is amazing! Very flavorful and unique choices. This place really allows you to step outside of your comfort zone and try new things. The atmosphere is fun too!

Lots of cider choices, plus allergy friendly food.

By la2kw |

Enjoyed a meal at Capitol Cider recently. The cider selection is extensive, but what impressed me the most was how allergy friendly the restaurant is. Completely gluten-free kitchen and also has dairy free selections as well.

If you like ciders then you need to visit here

By Davetheaddick |

If you like ciders then you need to visit here. (I’m not fan of cider and the beer selection is also reasonable). The cider was available on three glass sampler trays. The food was excellent although the potions are not very large (compared to others that we had during our US trip.) We ate here as my wife is a big cider fan and having visited numerous breweries both in Seattle and elsewhere. The food was definitely amongst the best quality and well-presented that we had.

What a delight!

By BoyntonOU |

Soooooo many ciders. I never knew that so many cider-types and companies existed. We opted for a tasting. Afterward, we decided to try the Wicked Apple, Baked Apple, from Washington. This was like drinking homemade apple pie. It is an experience worth going.

Great gluten free food

By Kimberly M |

This is great food for anyone but especially wonderful for someone that has Celiac disease. They were also sensitive to the other food allergies we had in our party, specifically nut allergies. Our waiter was fantastic and made great recommendations. We would absolutely return to eat there again. PS: The cheese curds were amazing and this is coming from someone that lives in Wisconsin!

Cider, Cider, Cider!

By TravelingManKRusso |

Enjoyed this place for the first time and I look forward to making it back multiple times as well as taking friends there. They have a great happy hour and an amazing selection of ciders that rotates. I really enjoy the French onion soup and can't wait to go back and enjoy it again. Great place with limited seating however it's worth the wait and can offer a great date night.

Really enjoyed Drinking here!

By SteelCity13 |

We didnt eat here we just stopped in to drink. If you are a cider lover like myself then this place is a MUST! So many selections on draft and bottle! Its almost impossible to make a choice of what you want to try! They do many many flights of cider so you can try so many that way! I love cider and I haven't heard of so many of the varieties here! I want to go back why dont we have one of these in TEXAS!

Delicious food and drinks

By Linda Bilj |

This place has something for everyone. Whether your gf, df or vegetarian, lots of choices. I had the gf+ df fish and chips. I have never ate that anywhere. Also paired my dish with a delicious gf beer! Definitely will return!

Fun evening

By AJKenn |

We started with the several small plates and had many different flights of cider The wait staff was friendly and fun. They have boxed games on sight for you to play at your table while you drink. Very fun night with my girls.

Gluten free for everyone

By Tom S |

It's always a dilemma when my wife and I eat out especially with other people. My wife has a gluten severe gluten allergy and not every restaurant can provide adequate food choices or guarantee against cross contamination. But that's not the case at Capitol Cider where all food is prepared GLUTEN FREE. What a treat that she could enjoy any item on the menu including desserts. Food was great and atmosphere very appealing. Highly recommend this establishment for anyone that enjoys good food. I had the Fish & Chips which were excellent!

Worth the wait!

By Bonnie A |

We did not make reservations, so had to wait (a very long time) for a table, but it was worth it! My husband and I got the same meals and both found them equally enjoyable. French onion soup and the marinated skirt steak. Both came out hot and flavorful. Our waitress was quite enjoyable as well!

Not worth the $$$

By rpisces |

First time at this restaurant for brunch, I ordered the B.L.A.T, when my dish arrived I was shocked to see the tiny sandwich with hardly any bacon to speak of. My friend had the biscuits with gravy, another sad small dish. My sandwich a whopping $16, hers $17!!! Not worth the $$$ obviously, there are tons of restaurants in the area, try some place else.

Nice spot for a post-Elliott Bay Book Company Guzzle!

By Charming_Karl |

I love bookstores, but have you ever noticed how you walk out of their feeling really parched? Maybe it has something to do with being around all that paper. Who knows. Anyway, after having a fantastic visit to Elliott Bay Book Company, I was major thirsty. Discovering via Google that this spot was not far away, we walked over and had a lovely cold drink - yes, I did have a cider, though I must apologize that I don't remember which one! My wife also enjoyed hers quite a bit. When next we visit Seattle, we will be sure and stop in here again!

Excellent food, and gluten free too!

By Jenwpg |

We hiked all the way up the hill from the monorail on a hot day since this was one of the top rated gluten free restaurants in Seattle, and we were so glad we did. We got there right after it opened for the day, and were given a wide variety of beverages to choose from. My husband was pleased to be able to have fish and chips, which he hasn't done since eliminating gluten 2 years ago. I ordered the same, and it was possibly the best fish and chips I've had. The decor is neat, they have different themed nights throughout the week (live music, a drink and draw night, and a games night). If we lived in Seattle, it wouldn't take us long to eat our way through the whole menu.

good cider - mediocre everything else

By eharcler |

We wanted to try Washington cider while in Seattle on Sunday and this was the recommendation we received. The cider was yummy; my husband and I both had flights of 3 different varieties, but we were very disappointed in the service and structure of the restaurant. We were at the restaurant in between their lunch and dinner service, which meant we couldn't get any food. This is definitely something that people need to be aware of because we were planning on eating while we enjoyed the cider rather than just drinking on an empty stomach. Nothing is mentioned anywhere on their website about not having food between lunch and dinner. Also, we waited for about 10 minutes for our flights and only after waiting and after I walked past the bar and our server after using the restroom I heard our server say "Oh - can I get those flights now?". It was disappointing.

Cider Bar

By Terry F |

HAd read about this Cider Bar and wanted to try it when I visited Seattle. They have a real good collection of various ciders, local and international. I was not disappointed. They have sapling platters for those wanting to test each kind. My wife and I were visiting and met Joe the bartender, who come to find out was from the same city we are. Joe was very patient with us and allowed us to sample and explain each of the drinks. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends.

To have open slather on picking menu items is an absolute joy for someone with food allergies! The service was good, nothing special, it's a bar too, so a lot of slightly inebriated loud laughter got a little annoying very quickly but it didn't distract from the enjoyable dinning experience! Such variety on the menu. We were very happy with the cost of our meal and the quality of the food!

Great cider and food!!

By bkezard |

Wow - such great ciders and delicious gluten free food. We had the wings and the cheese curds and loved them both! As someone with celiac this place is a must!

Gluten-free & Yummy!

By Wanderlust_Bee |

One in our party must eat gluten-free and I was afraid I wasn't going to find anything to eat (I do not eat gluten-free). The "Summer Platter" was very tasty! Rib-eye, chicken, roasted peppers, Yukon gold horseradish potatoes with an amazing watermelon, tomato, mint salad. I was least excited about the salad but finished my meal with it rather than dessert. The staff was friendly and knowledge about the food & drink. Casual environment; kind of rustic, dark wood tables.

Amazing varieties of Cider

By pushp B |

We really enjoyed coming to Capitol Cider. We thought it may well be rowdy being Friday night but the Music on the Square ie the Block Party was on . We got our table quickly and the drinks and food came very fast. Even my wife drank two varieties of cider (Angry apple & ginger, Pink apple cider which she rated as one of the best she has had), normally a non drinker. I had the Green Apple Angry orchard and the Apple pie cloudy cider, liking th both but I am more traditional in my selection normally. She had the rib eye steak and fries which she loved. I had the traditional british fish and chips with tartar sauce. Tartar sauce was runny but the fish and chips cannot be faulted as the best I have had in North America to date. Atmosphere was good and the staff tried really hard to make our visit a pleasure. We chose the venue as our last meal in the USA over and above the plethora of choices available, we don't think we made a mistake. Thank you

Safe and delicious for Celiacs'

By TeaRoseAZ |

Such a sweet relief to be able to dine out without the fear of an anaphylactic reaction due to cross contamination, etc. Can't remember the last time I'd had a fried chicken sandwich... let alone one that had such a wonderful balance of textures and seasonings & absolutely delicious. My daughter's fish and chips were perfectly prepared & she said they rivaled non-gluten free fish & chips too. I usually skip french fries, but the fries that came with my meal were fried to perfection and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered a terrific cinnamon roll to enjoy later. The service and atmosphere were the icing to a wonderful dining experience. Wish I still lived in Seattle so I could enjoy this terrific place more often... So wonderful to be able to enjoy a stress free, delicious meal with my daughter, instead of discretely monitoring whether I'd need to take some meds to offset yet another allergic response due to cross contamination. This place is a treasure!

Vegan Kale Ceasar / Flight 👍🏽

By Alfredo H |

This place has a HUGE cider list on draft, bottles and specialty cocktails. I recommend trying a flight and getting to taste a few. The Vegan Kale Caesar and fries is the perfect complement to The Northwest Is The Best Flight.

Ummmm, Cider!

By Susan T |

I really like this place. The cider menu was really good, but it does change. So, while you can just try the chocolate apple cider on nitro, so good!

Omg y’all

By aprboo |

My husband’s a glutard. When we saw this place featured on “Day of Gluttony, Seattle” and the hosts mentioned it was a GF kitchen, I looked them up. Then we saw they had fish and chips. I called, and they confirmed they were completely GF. My bae’s been dying for fish and chips but hadn’t been able to have them since his diagnosis three years ago. We live in Hawaii. We literally got off the plane and drove straight here. Did NOT disappoint. There was complete silence as my husband devoured his meal. His eyes may or may have not rolled into the back of his eyes. Great atmosphere, great food (the cheese curds!!!! OMFG), and caters to allergies. MAHALO (THANK YOU), Capitol Cider! You gave us an amazing start to our vacation

Tasty but not plentiful

By Edmonton_mom |

It's great to see a gluten free restaurant and the food was good. We found the portions for some of the things we ordered were on the skimpy side for the price charged.

Down to earth goodness!

By heuster3 |

I was looking for somewhere to go for Sunday brunch and Capitol Cider came up on a Seattle list on Google. We didn't have a car, so we walked following my phone's gps. No where does it say hills...LOL! Coming up from 1st Ave on Seneca, there were some steep grades, but then it tapered off and it was pretty much down hill from there. Friendly greeting when we walked in. Great atmosphere...the hostess was going to put us in this one area but it looked really cozy, so she gave a nice large booth. In the morning, if you sit facing the door, the sun will indirectly hit you. No biggie, just bring your sunglasses. Ordered a cidermosa...first time and it's pretty good! I ordered the eggs benedict which came with ham, spinach, poached eggs, and served on top of potato scalloped squares and one of the most delicious hollandaise sauce I've ever had....very very good! The partner-in-crime had the traditional eggs and bacon with home fries. We also shared the banana bread French toast that came with pear butter and maple syrup....deeeeeeeeelicious! Another round of drinks and we were good! The walk back, down Pike St. The whole experience at Capitol was a great way to start the day....even though it was close to noon.

this place is really fun!

By NWroamer11 |

we went to night to hear a friend perform on their downstaris chair. A great jazz group filled the place, and we sipped great sparkly cider and ate off the happy hour menu. the fries are excellent as is the popcormn and the chicken wings (mosit and plentiful). Skip the skimpy cheese pate. Even with happy hour prices it wasn't a good value. Music was great. Upstairs quieter.

Fun place if you need a cider break!

By jtrekell |

Fun place to sit and watch all the people walk by on Capital Hill. Wish the cider menu actually described the cider instead of it just being the name of the cider. But all and all, we ended up sitting there quite a while and just enjoying! Wish the kitchen opened earlier!

what's all the hype about?

By Dan |

went there for brunch. it was not that busy. the food took nearly 1/2 hour and came out warm (not hot). during the whole visit the waiter stopped by only once without being asked for. he should be happy there is a 5% surcharge for a "waiter standard of living". otherwise that guy might starve to death! the whole thing was not a good experience. find somewhere else.

Tasty food and a gluten free facility

By NoVaAli |

Our friend suggested Capitol Cider as a wonderful place to get a late lunch. The food did not disappoint! Great place to catch up with friends while munching on a flavorful meal. People watching on the street was a bonus. Not worrying about Gluten cross contamination and being satisfied with menu options; priceless!

Very good even if not GF

By JTSeattle |

Someone already used “Celiac Heaven”. We took our celiac friends here and so glad. Of course everything is GF and peanut free. Even so, everything was very good. Two thumbs up by everyone. The cider and beer options are excellent. You will be happy to come here. Reservations recommended.

Gluten free made easy

By Ozi-gal |

Went for the GF fish and chips and while they were nice I wouldn't rave. GF salt and pepper calamari and GF chowder , both of which are very hard to find usually, finished off our shared meal. The food was good, the cider even better (baked apple cider, mmmm). Service quick and friendly. Very busy on a Friday night.

Great Gluten-free Experience

By Rosalie L |

This completely gluten-free place was such a treat for this celiac. The setting is fantastic. I wasn't feeling great so my daughter and I ate light, but appetizers are usually a problem for celiacs so it was great to order any that I wanted. The brussel sprouts are great! Too bad they don't offer flights of ciders outside of happy hour! Service was a bit slow, but I would want to come back and try a proper dinner.

Gluten-free Heaven!

By Bruce B |

My wife and I were in Seattle for a few days for our first visit there. She researched and found this dedicated gluten-free restaurant, and we had to try it out (she has Celiac and has to be strictly gluten-free). What a wonderful place! The food was excellent on any level and the atmosphere and location very nice. The paintings on the walls were done by students in the style of old master paintings. Excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable and helped guide us in ordering decisions. My wife ordered hush puppies and fish and chips. I ordered the braised pork shoulder. For desert we ordered the apple crisp (big enough for us both to enjoy). It was all delicious and well prepared and in ample portions. Well worth the cab drive from the Public Market! Had we been in Seattle longer we would have definitely returned to try their lunch.

Best food!

By Happyeater789 |

Being new to gluten free and other food allergies (and not happy about it), I was beyond thrilled to find somewhere I could safely eat. What I wasn't expecting was the caliber of the food. It was amazing! I went with someone who isn't GF and he said that was the best food he'd had in a long time! I can't wait to go back and try any and everything on their menu! What an absolute treat!

You HAVE to go!

By Kat |

Best cider ever! Great atmosphere, great prices. The baked apple cider was amazing. Their beers were great too. They have shuffleboard tables and board games to use as well. Awesome place for a night out with friends or couples. The food was great too. I had the cheesecake and it was the best I have ever had. The winds were delicious too!

Always something new

By Robin H |

I'm a new cider fan but this place always has a huge list to choose from. II''m often in doubt about what to try but about 80% of what i try I like The food is fresh and very good. ive only been threeet ime bust always have a good time. there are board games and shuffleboard in the bar downstairs and upstairs is bit less rowdy. I will say the service is a bit slow when crowded..... they could do with a few more servers. But they are good at what they do and awlays deserve a tip!

Music and fine dining

By LAWarden |

The upstairs is a fabulous restaurant. The downstairs is a unique intimate venue for the best Seattle jazz jam. If you pick your night right. World class talent rubs elbows with the best of the daring waiting for the nod. I went there with my accomplished clarinetist/ tenor sax friend From BC. We've been there three times while on vacation. This is a premo destination. Don't forget to come early for a special dinner and the special handmade ciders.

Horrible wait times and over priced/incorrect billing

By Blake85251 |

We were there with a party of 8. After we sat down the server came up and greeted us. And explained the drink menu. After a few minutes passed the server came back and took our drink and appetizer order. Shortly after the drinks were delivered except mine and the server never said anything. I assumed that it was coming shortly after. 15 minutes had passed and my drink order was still not delivered. When the server came back to drop off the appetizers I had to ask him where my Cider order was and at that time he informed me that they were out of that specific brand...I then went ahead and picked a different brand. The server came back to the table again and took our dinner order and my drink was still not delivered. 30 minutes had passed and my Coder was still not delivered. I walked up to the bar and asked the bartender if my order was put in and if I could grab it if I was waiting. The bartender was rude and gave me attitude and said “if your ordered it it should be out shortly” I then went ahead and told him I had been waiting 30 minutes and he gave more attitude and said if I wanted it right away then I would have to open a tab with him. Another 5 minutes passed and my drink finally came. Our dinner took about another 15 minutes to be delivered after I got my drink (waited a total of 45 minutes for burgers). Everyone’s food was delivered except mine yet again... I took 10 minutes to flag someone down to see here my order was and eventually it was finally delivered. When we got our bill it was split up by our seat number. I told the server that both of the ciders I order we’re in there and that the one that I never received should be removed. When I got the revised bill it was still on the receipt. At the point I didn’t want to wait any longer and went ahead and paid for my bill. Since it was a party of 8 automatic gratuity was added. My partners and my bills was $109 for 2 burgers 1 appetizer and 4 ciders (1 of which we never received). I will not be going back

Local apples !!

By bjhbjh |

What more can I say?? Ok, grapes and hops can be local too, and organic is available to...Well, this is the "Apple" state...

What happened??

By Miranda K |

We've had brunch here before, this was our first dinner experience, and we won't be back for dinner. My daughter ordered off a special menu and they forgot one of the three courses. My husband had lamb ribs and the sauce was awful - I've never seen him leave leftovers before. My daughter had a noodle dish and barely touched it due to also "being weird" and it was. Service was slow and indifferent. The place was nice but not the food.

Full Bar Beyond Lots of Cider

By Michael M |

Good food with lots of ciders on the menu as the name might suggest. Small site, recommend getting a reservation. Has full bar, wine, and specialty cocktails if cider isn’t your thing.

LOVE this bar!

By Anna H |

Passed this bar on our way somewhere else and vowed to come back because a) cider and b) it looked really cool. So glad we did - the cider selection is broad, the service friendly and very knowledgable, the atmosphere upstairs chilled and relaxed, and the music set it all off wonderfully. Downstairs is more of a bar, but we liked the upstairs cool :)

Capitol Cider is a fine place to sample ciders, have excellent and interesting food in a welcoming atmosphere. All at reasonable prices.

Amazing Gluten Free Kitchen

By Katrina P |

Traveling to Seattle for pleasure and always in search of great gluten free food. A welcome site to see a gluten free kitchen so no cause for concern. Everything we tried was amazing, definitely get the fried chicken thigh!! The decor was interesting and fun, overall atmosphere was great, definitely recommend!

Gluten Free but good.....

By jpwiii1958 |

Was asked by two friends of mine who have dietary restrictions to dine at a totally gluten free restaurant on Capital Hill. Agreed, sceptical none the less and we went on a Saturday evening. The menu was diverse and the drinks menu had a huge cider offering with gluten free beers also. The server was well versed on the food and ciders. Not being gluten free I expected some sort of outer space food and was pleasantly surprised when my meal arrived. I tried the lentil soup, brussel sprouts and fish and chips. All were very good and I never would of known.........

Perfect for Gluten free

By CAROL G |

We had brunch here twice, all of the food is gluten free. The only thing that contains gluten is the beer so be mindful of this. We had the zuccini bread french toast, the fosh and chips, the mushroom scramble and buscuits and gravy. It is really great to have so many gf options. They have a huge selection of ciders, all tend to be not sweet and quite dry, more like beer. You can sit at the bar if it's crowded, which is what we did on our two visits. We will definitely try dinner next time we are in Seattle.

Allergy friendly

By Vacationer826685 |

Capitol Cider was awesome. Perfectly located and allergy friendly, Capitol Cider was accommodating to our dietary needs and had a great selection of beers.

Nice atmosphere!

By Alaskan_Jackie |

First of all, I looove cider! So this place was a perfect place for me. I had a cider from the UK. Brought me back to my European backpacking days. I also loved the ambiance. Very neat place!

The Place for Cider

By kdpsi |

FIrst rule go DOWN STAIRS. It is a totally different place downstairs. Had the Cider Flights since I am new to Cider, but not a convert yet. Had 3 Flights Perry ($14), Oregon ($12) and Tieton ($12). We were on on bar crawl so it was one drink and go. My son who is a craft beer guy loved this place.

Cider yes, service and price, No.

By Crystal K |

We stopped into Capitol Cider for appetizers and cider and although the pace has a fun vibe downstairs, it is way to far up its own butt to actually be cool. There are many ciders available which is cool, but they are not full pints, and more expensive than they should be. The appetizers were fine, but nothing to go out of your way for. Service definitely lacked, our waiter did not come around for quite awhile, and when I finally went to the bar to get some drinks, I was told we had to wait for our waiter...? What? Also when all was said and done and we had the bill split on two credit cards, one was charged twice for both halves ($45.44 and $45.45) and the other also charged for a half. Experience definitely not worth THAT price, it was overpriced as it stood.

Cider the new beverage of choice!

By Tallcop |

Great place to get a quick bite. Excellent fish and chips. 100% gluten free kitchen if you have that allergy as my wife does. Over 20 different ciders to chose from. I chose Spire Mountain Dark and Dry and it was delicious. Unfortunately when I returned 2 weeks later this cider was gone from the list. I had another cider and it was good, just not as good as the Spire Mountain. This is a bar restaurant and it has some entertainment. I only partook of the bar and restaurant, but there were regulars who were very friendly as we dined. Looked like a friendly place to have a beverage and some conversation.

Flys Everywhere

By Joe B |

The cider selection was great however there were flys everywhere. The food was great but ruined by the pesty insects.

The variety of ciders offered seemed good; the food was decent; the service could have been better

By Dedgehog |

We were seated right away but then, there was quite a long wait before water was brought and drink orders taken. When our server took our food order, the food appeared reasonably quickly but I don't remember any follow-up and I had to flag down the host to get more water. Since this seemed to be a popular place, the noise level was pretty high. My son and I had 2 different flights to sample their ciders - mine were all too dry for my taste. The food we ate ( potato croquette, pickled veggie salad, pork loin and chicken breast) was fine but nothing wowed. We did all get a free trifle dessert in honor of the British queen's official birthday!

fantastic drinks, food and service

By AKWoodinville |

A group of six of us went to Capitol Cider on Saturday evening. We arrived a bit on the early side, got seated downstairs and immediately started having fun. Our server (Keegan, I think?) was quick to bring drinks, had a terrific sense of humor, and knew exactly what to recommend in terms of cider/beer and food. The beverage choices are practically endless; if you can explain the taste you like, your server will bring you options to try until you hit on a winner. Personally, I loved the cherry ciders and tried several of them, but the table overall had a wide variety of drinks over the course of the evening. In contrast, the food menu isn't extensive, but between our visit and the night before when another somewhat overlapping group of friends was there, we tried almost everything and nothing disappointed. Worth noting are the caprese salad, grilled zucchini and cheese plate. Fish and chips were also tasty. For dessert....GET THE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE. This was one of the best sweets I've ever eaten. It is amazing. AMAZING! There are a few old-fashioned shuffleboard tables, games and cards for using at will and while the music varied, for the most part it was perfect background noise. Great bar with a fun vibe and excellent booze!

Great selection of ciders.

By Boscaverde86 |

We went here for drinks because my wife likes cider and there aren't many opportunities to get cider in restaurants in our area. They have about 30 taps upstairs, and about half of those are cider. They also have some really good beer selections. After trying one cider that she wasn't that excited about, my wife asked the bartender, Kim, for some suggestions. He let her have some tastes of a number of the options until she could find a couple that she wanted to order. He was also able to give me a couple of beer suggestions. We really enjoyed our time talking with him. Some have said that the prices were expensive, but I actually thought they were very reasonable. Most were on part with what I had seen elsewhere in Seattle, while a couple of drink prices were even lower. (Anytime you get $4 for a non-happy hour pint in Seattle, I think that's a good price.) The one disappointment was the charcuterie board. It was ok, but a little disappointing. I was also surprised that it didn't come with any bread. We spent the majority of our time in the upstairs bar, but the downstairs bar looks like a fun place, especially for a younger crowd. It was much more active down there. There are also a couple of shuffleboard tables down there.

Complete lack of understanding and compassion for customers with other allergies

By Mary B |

I have multiple food allergies to juggle, so eating out is incredibly difficult. Because of this, I called ahead several days and discussed my concerns at length with an employee. That employee consulted with the kitchen staff multiple times to help me find a dish that I would be able to eat when I came with a group. During our conversation we discussed the sauce that came with the dish, which has one of my allergens in it, and so we determined the dish would be safe if I brought my own sauce. This was discussed directly and clearly in the call and the employee I spoke with agreed that the dish would be safe "as long as you bring your own sauce". So the day of this outing I arrive, and the hostess stops me when she sees my container of sauce and says I cannot bring it in because no outside food is allowed. I explained that I called ahead and was told it would be okay. She disappears to see if they will make an exception, comes back and tells me no. I asked to speak to the manager and he explains that they can't have outside food brought in because of the risk of cross contamination of gluten. I can understand and respect this, but what I found upsetting is the total lack of concern which bordered on rudeness I felt when trying to resolve the issue. The hostess and the manager both just kept stonily repeating the rule. Although they technically apologized for the "inconvenience", it fell incredibly flat and did not feel at all sincere. They did not seem at all bothered that their employee had misinformed me about this, never asked who I spoke with, or made any attempt to figure out where the miscommunication had occurred. Frankly, from the moment the issue arose they seemed like they just wanted to get rid of me and had no interest in resolving the problem. I was met with a complete lack of compassion. By the end of the conversation they had simply repeated the rule multiple times and not made any attempt to try and find an accomodation that would work for everyone (I asked about other sauces at one point and barely got a response from the hostess which did not make me feel confident in the level of safety due to my allergies. The manager didn't make the suggestion of finding or making a sauce I could use even once). By the end of the interaction I was visibly distressed because I was single-handedly ruining a group outing with out of town visitors because of misinformation from their employee and they could not have cared less. Because we had all driven down there and paid nearly $10 in parking between us specifically so we could go to this restaurant that was supposed to be able to accomodate my food allergies, I was very motivated to find a way to make it work, but no one I spoke to seemed at all concerned with trying to salvage the situation. I would expect that a restaurant that is specifically gluten free and has that much concern for their celiac and NCGS customers to actually buy into the concept and be concerned about the safety and comfort of ALL of their customers, but that is clearly not the case. To start with, the employees are improperly trained and give out false information. This now has me second guessing the level of safety and accuracy in the other information I recieved...if they can't get that right, how can I trust that the dish I planned to order really WAS otherwise free of allergens? And the attitude I got from the hostess and manager were unreal...I have never been treated so inconsiderately by restaurant employees in Seattle and this was the last place I expected that to happen. As the manager of a restaurant geared towards food related disabilities he should have known better how stressful and upsetting navigating the world with these issues is, he should have had some understanding about the guilt and panic that a person feels when they are the single barrier to a group having a good time. Not only did he fail to understand that, he also failed to make even the most basic effort to try and salvage the situation.

A cider lover's dream! Unique pub with a great vibe!

By travelaholic_111 |

As a cider lover I was super excited to learn about Capitol Cider but their selection blew me away! I see why it's the biggest in the world! The grouping by area of the world and knowledgeable information in the menus taught me a lot about the different styles of cider and gave me a greater appreciation for it! Considering how many products are imported their pricing was also super reasonable. We didn't eat but the food looked great. Lauren was our waitress and she was prompt, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. She did a great job of suggesting different ciders for us and even suggesting other places and things to experience during our time in Seattle. We would have had a great time at Capitol Cider based on the product and atmosphere but Lauren took it to one of our best nights out of all time. Even if you just like cider or don't mind it this place is still worth checking out because their great servers may be able to convert you to your perfect brew!

Amazing cider, good food

By transatlantictom |

I came here with a couple of friends, one a local who recommended it. It has a warm vibe to it. It also has a huge selection of ciders and the only downside for me was that I would have enjoyed smaller glasses so I could taste more varieties. A small nitpick really. The flights of ciders that they do were interesting and I was surprised how different ciders could taste. The food was good enough for us all to want to cram in a dessert even though we were completely stuffed, but (perhaps as a fussy Londoner so maybe spoiled) I wasn’t blown away. The service was great however and the ciders awesome. I’d come back if I return to Seattle.

A great venue for all foodies

By john h |

A great venue for food and cider in particular - the food is all gluten free and whether you are intolerant or not its a healthy way of eating ! There was a great choice, great service and great atmosphere..... we ate here twice - lunch and dinner and both were excellent.......

Great Lunch

By LilJDay |

Whether you need to be gluten free or not, this was a really cool neigborhood restaurant. They are totally gluten and peanut free and have a huge selection of hard ciders which is fun. I had the fried chicken sandwich and my husband opted for a big brunch type breakfast, both meals were great. We were glad we got away from some of the more crowded touristy parts of town and found this little gem!

Best gluten free restaurant!

By SandraR2010 |

We were in Seattle for Christmas and New Years so we had two visits to Capitol Cider. Dinner was first with an amazing fish and chips dish. The fish and chips are delicious. I wish I had remembered the dish is so large we could have shared the dish. Next time, maybe I’ll remember (most likely not!). New Years Day we went for brunch. The Toad in a Hole was wonderful. The bread they use is the best gf bread. Then a cinnamon roll for a dessert. OMG! So tasty. Cannot wait to visit again.

The WHOLE KITCHEN is gluten free!

By deannefaye |

Cool restaurant/bar in the Capitol Hill section of the city. They don't really out and out advertise this (as most gluten free kitchens don't, they don't want to pigeon hole themselves or turn off gluten eaters), but the WHOLE KITCHEN is gluten free. So, you can go there and order anything. I went for brunch at 10am on Sunday, and it was pretty empty (it started getting very crowded when we were about to leave, Seattle is a town that gets a later start). The donuts were so so good, and I also had french toast. It was very good (although not as good as the donuts) and everyone else enjoyed their meals too. We didn't try any ciders as we went in the morning. But, I would highly recommend checking this place out as the dinner menu also looked good! (They aren't open for lunch.)

Best fish and chips

By Loch F |

Had the fish and chips both times and felt it truly was one the best I have ever had. Not huge and with an extremely thin batter. But for me it spoiled my taste buds. Needless to say my celiac wife also loved it.

Great Gluten Free

By porteg |

Great gluten free food (gluten free kitchen). The staff were really friendly and helpful. Lots of great ciders but the gluten free beer was very average. Would suggest stocking some Estrella Daura. It's really good.

Great Gluten Free Kitchen

By cac258 |

Need GF or prefer GF? Capitol Cider is both a cider house (dozens of varieties) as well as a great restaurant that just happens to be 100% Gluten Free. The ENTIRE menu is GF. I think they want to be known as a great restaurant more than a GF restaurant, but they are both. Nice weekend brunch and excellent dinner options. We've had fish and chips, chicken, oatmeal, eggs Benedict, banana bread French toast, quinoa salad, and doughnuts. All GF and all delicious. You don't have to be GF to enjoy...

Has a lovely old-world feel to it but music is too loud!

By travelerNorthwest |

The food is ok (nothing to rave about) but the charm of the place is in the wonderful paintings on the walls---paintings by GAGE Academy students who are trained in classical painting methods by leading national artists. The dark decor reminds one of a tucked away cafe on the Left Bank of Paris. HOWEVER, the music destroys the total relaxed and artful effect because the workers play modern grunge rock music at much too loud a volume. Don't hesitate to tell them to turn down the music so that you can hear your partner across the table. Management should consider playing music that is appropriate for the style of decor that they have created. Classical? Quiet jazz? Early American composers?

Like cider? Go here.

By MattIowa |

We did not eat here, and it was a little weird when we came in knowing where we should go, but we basically just came to drink cider, and they have TONS of options. So, if you want cider, go here.

Friendly staff and great food

By C-and-J-YYC |

We set out walking up East Pike, determined to eat wherever the atmosphere felt right, and we ended up at Capitol Cider. The staff was very friendly and really knew the menu (both food and drink). We shared 2 cider flights and ordered the warm Mediterranean olives, the roasted chicken breast, and the burger. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the burger - we couldn't believe that bun was gluten free since we are used to that meaning poor texture (and often flavour). Two things that this business does really stood out us: 1. The available tap list was up to date, printed only an hour before we arrived (the date and time are on it). It may seem simple, but having outdated drink lists causes confusion and disappointment when you find out the drink you want has been replaced. 2. The business then reuses those printed lists - they cut them in half and print the cider flights charts on the back side. This may seem like an unimportant detail but we were blown away by the extra time it would take to do this and the thoughtfulness this shows.

Cheesecake with a brandy

By nastycesareborgia |

Capitol Cider is definitely a must-eat in Seattle. I have been there only for a dessert and a brandy, cause I had already eaten in the neighborhood, but one of my friends who went there to eat a couple of night before told me I just had to taste the cheesecake. God, that was not just a cheesecake. Candied pumpkin, a creamy texture soft as a cloud, a perfectly balanced taste, not too sweet, not too cheesy. Their gluten-free cuisine is really appealing, after having the cheesecake I just felt good, it was probably more digestible than the average cheesecake, and again, damn good. I had never seen the "gluten-free" label as a plus, this was definitely an eye-opening experience. The brandy too was wonderful, and their selection of ciders and quality liquors is huge. The bartender was extremely kind, friendly, funny. Even though we came in just for a cheesecake at the counter, he treated us like kings. I am from Italy, but I hope I will have the chance to come back to Seattle soon, I really want to experience the whole dinner there.

Ghostfish Brewery had much better food

By Ally S |

We came to Capitol Cider on a Saturday night. Parking was difficult to find. The restaurant was crazy busy and loud inside so we ate outside at a table squeezed against a railing so tightly the servers walk outside the railing to serve you, when they bother to come by. We asked for a flight of the sweetest ciders they had, most of them tasted like vinegar and we left them untouched minus the one sip from each, the waitress never even noticed, probably because we only saw her to order, and when she brought the check. Someone else brought our food. The fried cheese curds were delicious which gave me hope for the meal. The fish and chips were terrible. Greasy, little flavor, no salt, and overall a big disappointment. We had been to Ghostfish Brewery the night before and their fish and chips were amazing! The table was so small the waitress couldn't even figure out where to put the dishes down at as she leaned over the railing from the sidewalk to serve us. It was also very expensive for the quantity of food served. Very disappointing since we ended up going to Ghostfish for a 2nd dinner because we were both still hungry.

Gluten free fish and chips!

By Luisa T |

I met a friend here for a drink and found my new favorite Capitol Hill restaurant. I love that the entire kitchen is Gluten Free for any Celiac sufferers out there! There is also a huge selection of ciders on tap and in bottle (also gluten free). They also have a gluten free beer by the bottle for anyone wanting a beer without the subsequent ill effects. I tried the fish and chips and loved it! The fish was very fresh cod, with a great textured rice flour batter. The French fries were also great. Overall I loved this restaurant/bar and will definitely be back.

Wide Cider Selection

By Celina H |

Only had drinks here no food, so this review speaks only to the cider. Tried the Anthem Cherry Cider and the Finnriver Forest Ginger Cider. Both were excellent. Bartender was knowledgeable about the ciders and was willing to give tastes of different ciders on tap to help you maker your decision. Definitely a must-go if you are at all into hard ciders!

100% Gluten-free

By CraigH0901 |

This is such a cool place about a 30 minute walk from Pikes Place. Everything is gluten-free but tastes fantastic. Book in advance as this is pretty popular. Sunday night is jazz night but not on Mother's Day. The service was quite good, the range of dishes is quite diverse and very American. The ciders are unbelievable. Two thumbs up!

Great range of quality local ciders...

By dukerussel |

This is a really quality place with knowledgable and friendly staff. They have a strong range of locally sourced ciders.

A must for cider fans

By dialqueen |

We did not eat that the restaurant. Being from Utah it was nice to find a place with a large number of ciders on tap. 5 different types were sampled by our party. We arrived at 4 pm when it opened. There was only 1 waitperson so service was a little slow. The bar had a nice atmosphere. Never felt pressured to order food. A must for cider fans.

? Are the other Reviews fake?

By jtssea |

Nice ciders. Staff mefiocre as was food. Went again recently for cocktails that were ok. Cool atmosphere. But no way the 5star reviews are real...or these people all eat at Olive Garden or Dennys

Awesome bar downstairs, with a live Burlesque Show!

By chrisDTW |

Capitol Cider is a very cozy bar, serving a large array of delicious ciders (and other drinks) for a wide variety of tastes. I love the cozy, warm lighting décor and on a Tuesday night, the downstairs bar was open and had the same cozy ambiance. The dinner/appetizer menu was loaded with tasty treats including many creative vegan/vegetarian options. We were all treated to a live burlesque show on stage, featuring the always talented and beautiful MOSCATO EXATIQUE dancing away on stage, with a fantastic performance that enthralled every guest!

Disappointing

By 100QA |

We have tried this spot twice and should have learned the first time. The best dish is fish and chips but both times the chips were overcooked. Avoid the plate specials. They would disappoint in a food court for less than half the price. The only reason we tried a second time was the music and intimate setting with the musicians in the bar. It is like listening to music with friends at their home. The music is good and the musicians are warm and interactive at breaks. That positive is just not enough to outweigh the overpriced mediocre food.

Check out both levels

By lydia37 |

Capitol Cider is a great place because it offers both a nice place to have a meal and a great area to hang out with friends. Downstairs offers tables and sitting areas to enjoy your drinks and also play games. The ciders are always delicious and rotate regularly.

Superb gluten free dining

By dragonfly129 |

One member in our party required gluten free dining so this was my first visit to a restaurant with a gluten free kitchen. I was amazed with the menu and food was very good. We started with crispy pork belly which was very crispy as promised. The fried calamari was also an excellent appetizer. For entries we had a chicken sausage, king salmon, terrific burgers and fries. Chicken looked fine but looked pretty simply prepared. The salmon was cooked pink and was perfect! The burgers were cooked as ordered and the gluten free bun has a jam spread which complimented the very tender beef, tomato and onions; clearly the best on the menu. There is also gluten free beer to wash down the burger, definitely a place to check out for dinner.

Fun vibe, friendly service, loved the ciders!

By Jacqui K |

This was my first experience at a cider bar. Since I don't drink beer, I was so excited to be in a place where I would have more than one option. The bartender was so friendly and let me try a sip of a couple of ciders before I found the perfect one and ordered it. We were having so much fun hanging at the bar, we decided to stay for dinner. Food was healthy and yummy!!

Good food and service

A good selection of small plates. Everything is so inviting. My son and I have a wonderful visit. The rhubarb crisp with chantilly is good

A Capital Find in Capitol Hill

By pookala |

Stopped in for pre-dinner drinks and snacks at this welcoming gastropub. Without reservations, we were directed downstairs to a comfy space with a nice sized bar, two shuffleboard tables and lots of choices in seating from booths to high tops. Greeted right away by a charming server, we ordered 3 different draft ciders from a list of about 20 (!) including one passionfruit, a pineapple and a dry cider from a local brewery. We kept our snacks light because dinner reservations were an hour away. All 3 small plates were very good, perfect for sharing and made me want to come back and sample more of the kitchen's work. The hush puppies, roasted broccoli and pickled vegetables were all a substantial size which made this great value for the money.

Good food

By kat s |

Great gluten free place! I wish there were more places like this. We loved our food (clams in tomato sauce, beat salad, duck with lentils, vegan pumpkin cheesecake). Service was ok, we asked for lemons three times, ended up getting them at the bar. Will be back to try their cider!

So many choices!

By Phxstroh |

The name is self explanatory. Being a cider bar, they have so many choices with a rotating and live menu. The servers are very knowledgeable about each cider. The food was a smaller serving than I expected from the prices, but it was very delicious. Going back, I would stick to drinks only. Downstairs, they have live music and an assortment of games to play including shuffle board.

Rude service, great fish n chips

By CBTravelSpree |

The food was tasty, though pricey. I had the fish and chips and I'd get it again. My husband had a cider and it was nice. He also liked his meal. We've been to this establishment on a few occasions. The first time, a few years back was definitely the best. Since then the menu has changed. Unfortunately the entire experience was tainted by the poor service we received. When I requested a paper menu the server took 25 minutes to locate one for me. I was hungry and frustrated by the time she threw one on the table for us. She was inattentive and rude, having passed our table two or three times with no explanation as to where the menu was, in the interim. The new thing apparently at some restaurants is to use ones cell phone to download the menu from a barcode on the table. But this did not work on my phone. Reading a paper menu is preferable anyway, as our phones are tiny and squinting to read a menu is not what I want to do when at a restaurant, thank you! We know Covid doesn't transfer this way so that's not a reason to eliminate actual menus. Often I don't even carry my phone with me, especially at meal times. Not everyone does. Wouldn't be such a big deal if she had just given me a paper menu when I asked for one, but it took 25 minutes to locate. She also seated a large group right next to our booth when the entire floor was practically empty. We did move eventually but we had to request it. F.Y.I They check vaccination cards. I'm fine with that, it makes me feel safer when eating indoors, but I know some people won't be happy about it. The server didn't pour our water, just left a closed bottle on the table. Not a big deal again, but the service was extremely poor in comparison to other establishments. I tip based on service. That's the bottom line for me.

Well worth the walk from dowtown

By David W |

My partner and I had a couple of days in Seattle before joining an Alaskan cruise. She has a gluten free diet and we search suitable restaurants in the area. Capitol Cider is GF friendly and the cider selection is amazing! It is a bit of hike up from the seafront but we'll worth it ! Food was very good (fish and chips) and ciders amazing. Recommended to coeliacs and cider lovers alike.

Perfect for a kid of the 1990's

By Nicole M |

We stopped by here on a whim and I was so glad we did! We were escorted to the basement level of the restaurant where there was more action. They were playing old school 90's hop hop and people were playing shuffleboard. I felt like I was reliving my middle school days, dancing in my seat as we ordered a myriad of tapas plates. They even had a stellar pineapple cider on tap which was delicious! This place is cool and hip, and I will be going again!

Lots of Fun for Cider Fans

By vikingjoy |

As a fan of hard cider, I've always wanted to try more than what I can find in the grocery store and Capitol Cider is THE place to find more! Their list of hard cider was so immense that I didn't know where to start. With some gentle guidance from our server, we tried a bottle of Elderberry cider and it was fantastic! I liked the fact that you can order an entire bottle or just a glass of what they have on tap (which includes beer AND cider--although not as many options on cider if you just want a single glass). We ordered grilled baby Zucchini for an appetizer and it was very tasty! I don't know what seasoning they used on it, but it was phenomenal. The fish and chips were very tasty as well. The atmosphere was perfect--Old English pub meets modern day Seattle. We sat upstairs since it was quieter than the game room downstairs but I enjoyed the layout and decor the vast room had. Great space and ambiance for group parties or just grabbing a drink with a few friends. The price is a bit high but you're paying for the cider and it's worth it if you're a cider-lover. We'll definitely be back.

Staff is the worst

By Helen |

I have given this place 3 tries and the only good experience I had, hence the 2 not 1 star is because we came for breakfast on a Friday morning literally being the only customers. I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, giving them the benefit of the doubt each time. Atmosphere is cool but the staff is just so rude, I arrived 8 minutes before happy hour ended and they told me I couldn't get the happy hour menu...I said we would order immediately and he huffed and grabbed the menus. Then the server came 1 minute before happy hour ended and we made sure we would get those prices, she said yes, check came with no happy hour prices. Wings were good, chicken sandwich average and not worth it. Another visited we arrived about 7 minutes late to a reservation, the host said they had given our table away and we would have to wait, I apologized for being late and said I didn't realize 7 minutes was too long to hold a table for a reservation of 6, he then said "its been 15 minutes on my count" ....incredibly rude, that made sure I wouldn't return. Burgers and sandwiches are not worth the price and lack flavor, if you have a gluten allergy which I do, this isn't your only choice for food, I recommend going elsewhere.

Add to Your Must Try List

By Paul N |

I was here on Saturday Brunch and it was surprisingly ill-attended. It might be because it is South of Broadway in a still up-and-coming neaighborhood in the Pike/Pine corridor on Capitol Hill. The food is really good and the ambiance excellent. I will definitely be back for dinner.

great ciders, pricey but celiac-safe dinner

By FeliceAndJack C |

Capitol Cider topped the list of possible GF dining choices for our night in Seattle. We like hard cider (but the selections back home in Arizona can't match the apples and cider of the Pacific northwest) AND the rest of their menu is gluten free (but for a few beers on tap for the barley-drinking bunch in your dinner party.) We had a few delicious ciders, then split a cod cake app, fish&chips and shrimp fettuccine. Cod cakes were light with a crisp crust and good remoulade. Likewise a nice batter and cook on the fish with fresh chips. A hearty homemade pasta with slightly over-cooked shrimp had nice generous pinch of red pepper flakes in the seasoning. Only 4 small shrimp, so at $28, not a great value, but then homemade GF foods like pasta and fish batters that are not usually available typically does cost us more. Staff was professional, but a bit slow. Atmosphere a bit too noisy for serious conversation.

Lol, avoid the takeout

By TA32 |

My wife met her cousin and her son for dinner here. We live a block away and had heard it was good. My wife reported that the small plates they had were nice and the young relative said the fish and chips were ‘alright’. I asked my wife to order the $24 pork shoulder ‘to go’ as I was working late. Anyway I finally got around to reheating the take out later that night and it was literally a piece of fat. I mean they put a piece of nicely browned fat in a box and charged us $24:). I mean, maybe a bite of pork. And I mean ‘maybe’ as in I’m being generous. Bottom line, Capital hill has lots of great places to eat, so no need for us to go back. Btw, for finer dining I suggest Lark about five minutes walking away. Somewhat more expensive but they seem to have their quality control, well, under control. Btw, cider reported to be good. So drink here and go to Lark:)

Gluten Free Everything! what?

By Swwalton |

A full gluten free menu, ciders on tap, great and quick service, reservations on Open table. Score! We walked here from the space needle, about 45 minutes. They have a nice menu, perfectly friendly for a gluten free diet. We both ordered fish and chips, it was so so good and I have no idea how they did it without normal batter. The fries were excellent as well. We ordered fish and chips and it came to the table in about 5 minutes, no kidding. We didn't even have our drinks yet. Nice salads, and many options. I'd recommend reservations in the evening, but there is an open seating area in the basement where they do provide entertainment.

Yum Calamari

By LMRush |

Great gluten free menu. The cider is yum, nice bar atmosphere and Super Good Calamari dish. Wish I could try more dishes, might come back tomorrow. Basement bar music is awesome.

Amazing food and ciders

By Colleen M |

The taste, the presentation... you'd think it is a Michelin starred restaurant. But very reasonable prices! Just amazing gluten free food but you wouldn't even know it.

Just stick with the Cider

By Joshua T |

Great cider menu - as expected. Sampler flight is a great way to try a few and still be able to get home. The food however is a great disappointment. Menu does not describe the food served - such as calling sweet potato wedges fries. Fish in the fish and wedges tasted great but were so small they do not make a meal. I stopped on the way home to pick up a turkey sandwich. Service was terrible too. We sat on the patio so out of sight out of mind. If we sat at the bar perhaps service would have been better. The experience was an expensive lesson to have dinner elsewhere and then come here for drinks.

If you love cider

By Caribrice |

We were visiting Seattle and one of our party has an interest in cider. He found the Capital Cider and we went there for dinner. It was a healthy walk up Pike then East Pike from the Motif hotel in the early evening. The restaurant/bar has a nice local atmosphere and it wasn't crowded as it was a monday. The focus is on ciders but there is beer and other drinks. Drinks of note: Elderberry lavender counterfeit cocktail, Finnriver pear cider-sweet 6.7% alcohol, Finnriver habernaro was also good...sweet to start but the pepper spice after taste was a good surprise. Food choices: Warm olives-nice,Pork belly- small dish, 1 piece with asparagus good but could be a bit crispier, Baby greens salad with white balsamic-good, Burger and fries was good but could have added a tomato and/or lettuce for some colour and veg, Crispy skin Salmon had a scrispy skin and the acompanying beans tasted as if they came straight from the garden. Overall the food was tasty. Also on the walls were well done oil on canvas paintings which were done in a technique called master copying. They are done by Students from the Gage Academy and you can buy the paintings. Note: Gluten and peanut free establishment

Gluten Free AND Great !

By Kayakerjim |

I wasn't sure about the restaurant as when we entered one of the staff looked me up and down, probably because I wasn't wearing hipster clothes du jour. Our waiter, Keegan, quickly made us feel welcome. He is excellent - he knows his craft. He quickly assessed when we needed more time, and handled it well. He did a great job all through and after dinner. The food menu is not huge, but there are an adequate number of selections. I had the rigatoni with corn and mushrooms. The pesto was insanely salty, but good in tiny bits. Dessert was olive oil cake with roasted apricot. Most excellent. Just right. The cider and beer menus are deep. LOTS of choices. An amazing array of selections! Even if you don't have gluten issues you will be very happy you chose Capitol Cider !!

Top 10

By allardc85 |

Gluten free fish and chips!? They were delicious!! We did not call ahead to make reservations on a Sunday, it was an hour wait so we decided to walk down and get a coffee before we had lunch. Our waitress was extremely friendly and we will definitely be back. I added a shot of vodka to this non alcoholic drink and it was amazing

Great gluten free options, cider was awesome

By Jennifer R |

I can't understand why all reviews are not 5 stars. We had a great time here! Food was amazing (with lots of gluten free options) and the cider choices were diverse enough to offer something for everyone. The fried cheese curds were one of the most delicious things, ever :) Thanks for a nice night - we'll be back the next time we travel to Seattle!

Gluten Free Friendly!

By Laura E |

We found this place after searching the city for gluten free friendly places. This place is 100% gluten free, but feels like a "normal" restaurant. Yummy food and absolutely amazing cider! Great unique restaurant that I would recommend to all you fellow gluten free people!

Fantastic AND Gluten Free!

By Jessica G |

This meal this amazing! My only complaint is there are too many options for food and drink! I liked too many of the small plates, so I made a meal of them. Definitely get the cheese curds. The cod chowder is what I’ve been dreaming of- and gluten free! I even had dessert (warm chocolate brownie). I didn’t find many totally GF restaurants here in Seattle, but this would be hard to beat. Loved it!

Rude service, walked out.

By TVR_V8 |

Would have liked to have experienced the food and ciders but after being ignored waiting for a table, resorting to seating ourselves and a rude dismissive apprpach from the waiter with big glasses and even bigger attitude when finally flagged down, we walked out.

Wanted to love it, but just ok…

By rebelee |

I was really excited to find a place that was totally gluten free, however the food was a mixed bag. Wings and cheese curds were really good, the fish on the fish and chips was good (have had better gluten free), but the fries and side salad were very bland. The biggest issue was the extremely slow service on a Tuesday evening.

Good food, low stress

By Alison S |

NOW CALLED "A Stir". Everything here is GF - dedicated. Stress free! We split the calamari, fish and chips and broccolini--it was just the right amount of food for the 2 of us. The deep fry was just right and the fish was perfect. We sent the first bowl of chips back -cold, soggy- and got cool, still somewhat soggy chips in exchange. Server’s fault-they had sat around too long. Broccolini could have been more cooked but the light sauce and pickled onions were nice. We also liked the caramelly sauce on the calamari and even got a dipping serving. They have an extensive cider menu as well as mixed drinks. Service was quick.

Fun place

By Theskigal |

In sum, Id highly Recommend the lower level for drinks. Very fun to try the ciders. Fun environment. Lots of options for cider. I normally wouldn't order cider but I tried several types of ciders with unique twists. They were all great, but some on the sweeter side. They also have normal drinks and beer.

Completely Gluten Free!

By Joy Sims |

They have a completely gluten free kitchen!! This is HUGE when eating with someone with celiac disease! We were thrilled to find this place and to top it off, the food was DELICIOUS! Deep fried cheese curds! Chicken wings! It was not a disappointment!

Scary place for a celiac

By GSEND |

We visited the restaurant on August 17th and our experience was absolutely terrible, and completely unacceptable in a restaurant that is meant to cater to celiac disease sufferers. First, the waiter who "served" us (and I use that term lightly when describing what we received) seemed to be tending bar and fairly uninterested in us. He first came by within about 30 seconds of us being seated and seemed put out when we told him we weren't yet ready to order. Then he left and didn't come back for 25 minutes, probably to teach us a lesson. When he finally deigned to return, my daughter and I decided to split a pear cider so, since I am a celiac, we asked if the cider was certified, and preferably labeled, gluten free. His answer was "uh, it probably is, most of them are unless they have some weird wheat thing in them". I kid you not, these were his exact words. I explained that I was celiac and I needed to know with certainty if the cider was gluten free. He repeated the line about "weird wheat things" and said it was like 99% sure I'd be fine but there was no way to know for sure. He suggested it would "probably" be fine and clearly would have had no issue serving it to me regardless of my allergy or the risk involved. Amazing. At that point I wanted to leave, but since we were celebrating an accomplishment with my daughter I decided not to make a fuss and simply asked if they had Angry Orchard cider, which I know with certainty is gluten free. My daughter went ahead with the pear since she isn't celiac. When the drinks finally came (and the wait was looonngg), the pear cider WAS LABELLED AS GLUTEN FREE. That little such-and-such could have simply checked the label but he was just too darn lazy, are you kidding me?? Unbelievable. Unbelievable and unacceptable even in a regular restaurant but in a restaurant geared to celiacs, is this even for real?? To cap off the evening the food came burnt and tasting of ancient fryer oil. We didn't leave a tip and we will never go back.

Crazy for Cider!

By Teresa O |

This place was recommended to me and my friend by some employees at H&M while we were shopping and i am very glad we gave it a shot. We were a little new to the cider game and the waiter was pretty knowledgeable of what was on the menu and made some good suggestions. there are so many ciders to choose from and ultimately i decided to get the blackberry pear cider and was not disappointed it was very very good. My friend got an apricot cider which was also surprisingly very good. The calamari was good, could have had a little bit more of a crunch. The lighting and atmosphere made for a nice quaint evening.

Mixed bag but worth a try

By Neal751 |

Great ciders. Food is variable. Better than many, esp since gf on purpose (vs just a gf options menu). Breakfast hash was almost good, but a bit too much oil, and maybe old by that time of brunch. Breakfast sandwiches were good. Stuff french toast was great. Penne w asparagus for dinner was good, just way too understated. Maybe some more Parmesan shavings, red pepper, or whatever to give it more flavor. But the pasta and vegetables were done nicely. 7% living wage fee added for all orders (small note on the menu, didn't see it the first time). Doesn't go directly to staff, but hopefully not just a way to somewhat quietly raise prices without raising published prices. I don't like that they don't just raise prices. Seems shady to me. I will pay higher prices if you tell me you pay a living wage (and maybe reduce tips to 10-15%). Be up front about this. It just comes off as a way to jack up prices without calling attention to it.

Funky and family friendly

By J.Robert C |

Had the pleasure of dining with family including a three year old. With a reservation we ha a nice corner booth. Overlooked by a wall of old time classic painting reproductions. The interior is dark, but the ambiance actually somewhat comforting and cheerful. We really had a wonderful experience with good service and tasty pub style food. The fish and chips are a great choice. Interesting sweet potato fries. There are vegan and gluten free options interestingly including gluten free beer. Full bar and extensive drinks list including mead and ciders top off the menu. I don’t make it to this part of town often, but would certainly try it again.

Gluten free heaven

By kim148 |

Such a fun place in Cap Hill w/ 100% gluten free menu. Would dine here again in a heartbeat even if I wasn't gluten free - food was great. Added bonus- they have shuffleboard

Wonderful family dinner and all gluten free.

By richmennie |

Four adults and two youngsters for dinner. The best cider choices I have seen plus really good food. The fish and Chips were excellent with the chips some of the best we have had. Pasta with prawns was also excellent. My wife had the grilled portobello and veg dinner which she said was excellent as was the rib dinner one of us had. Quite attentive service, generous portions and reasonably priced A good evening all around A totally gluten free kitchen and it was very good.

Cider. Great food. Shuffleboard. Chess at the dinner table. Awesome!

By ttimehulacal |

This is a great place to meet a group for dinner and drinks. They have an excellent cider menu. My favorite was the Powerhouse! The food was a very flavorful and well paired. The shuffleboards are in great shape. A real treat!

Tasty meals and cider galore

By Tania J |

We had a table with over 20 people booked well in advance and they had only one wait person working the table. It took such a long time to take the drink orders, serve the drink orders, and then take the food orders that everyone was grumbling about starving. I sampled four different meals and they were all tasty. No doubt about it, the food is really good. They have an impressive list of ciders and beer as well. The meals are just the right proportion for the calorie conscious person, but a bit overpriced. I’m willing to give it another chance, but it will be a while before I try it again.

One of our best meals during our Seattle visit

By Rebecca M |

We were visiting the Capitol Hill area and planned to bar hop a bit before eating. We were at Optimism Brewery, and when I looked on my phone for bars nearby, this popped up. My husband loves cider, so we made it our next stop. They have an extensive cider menu. The food looked so good we decided to order lunch. My husband "copied" the tables near us and got the fish and chips. The batter was perfect--he said it was the best fish and chips he's ever had. I got the chowder and I loved it. We each got a dry cider, and then he got a spiked mulled cider. Everything was perfect and our server was so friendly.
