A mixed bag …..

By BritBoyInGA |

Their heating was down, so we ate whilst wearing our coats. They never mentioned the heating failure, directly to us, we just overheard a conversation from an adjacent table. Food taste and quality was very good, even though we felt the prices are ‘slightly’ higher than they could/should be. Sides are expensive, but having said that, both the broccolini and carrots were large side orders and excellent quality. Our server, and the kitchen, did a SUPERB job of adapting dishes due to my wifes allergies.

Warm smiles, Gracious hospitality. Beautiful respite from the heat

We had a little time to kill before making a reservation at another restaurant with friends so we popped into Carmel to get out of the heat and have a couple of sips. We were greeted by the most gorgeous smiles we had seen all day and a warm welcome. We slipped into the bar and had a couple beautiful cocktails and watched the show. We asked a few questions along the way and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. We will come back for dinner next time!!!

Cozy & Delicious

Our server Mat was the best. It was 5 of us and a baby and we weren’t too sure if it was the right place for us because the place is kind of sheik. It is very nice and sophisticated, has kind of a warm intimate lighting and a bar in the front. But they accommodated us just fine and then there was a procession of delicious food. Mussels, tuna tartare, avocado & crab meat, Caesar salad, red fish, vegetarian lasagna and chicken. Every single one was delicious! Almost forgot! The caviar French fries! What a genius idea!

More than dinner, a beautiful experience...

We celebrated my husbands birthday at Carmel, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the first course to lesser, the food was spectacular- every dish was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Kate was incredible in helping me plan the evening and ensuring every details was thoughtfully prepared ahead of time. D'Angelo was wonderful, making sure the night ran smoothly and that we were taken care of from start to finish. I have to mention the oysters- I was honestly scared to try them, but Carmels oysters are hands down the best oysters Ive ever had. So buttery, the flavor explodes in your mouth, literally chef kiss! A matter of fact everything we ate was fantastic, I didn't want to stop eating. Carmel is one of the best dining experience we've had. If youre looking to host a dinner party, celebrate a sepal occasion, or enjoy a A+ restaurant experience. Carmel is the spot. You won't regret it.

Carmel-Original tastes in Buckhead Village

By ATLpch |

We enjoyed our night out at Carmel in Buckhead Village. The restaurant is comfortable, and the menu is elevated with a variety of small and large plates. We shared the lobster cannelloni with caviar, the pork belly tostadas, and the mussels with a few extra sides. The cocktails were fantastic. Nice addition to the Buckhead dining scene.

Beautiful space for cocktails and starters. Skip everything else.

I have a big problem with the difference between the image of the restaurant on the website compared to the actual experience. We chose the Carmel for the image of a serene, sea to table, pastoral experience, and that is very different from our visit. We chose the restaurant because it came up on a list of "Quiet Atlanta restaurants," and for the first half hour, that was the case. Our drinks and starters were amazing. But then it went quickly downhill. About the time that we finished our first round, they turned the music up, and LOUD. I couldn't hear anything that my wife and the server were ordering, and I was just across a very small banquette table. Second, the frentic pacing of the food was completely unacceptable. We ordered salads, and tried to decide on a wine, when they told us that they were completely OUT of anything on their bottle list. We had to order a bottle they already had on the glass list. Since we had to decide on that, we put in our order for our entrees. The very next server that came back to us...brought our entrees! We had to send our food back because we hadn't gotten our second round of drinks, our salads or even ordered wine yet! Salads were okay, but the by the glass list bottles were awful. The entrees finally came back out and didn't go with the wine that was recommended at all. Dinner entrees are overcomplicated, proteins way too done, grilled "Napa style" veg not grilled nearly enough. Then the vinegary sauces completely overpower anything anyway. This is a beautiful restaurant with the blonde woods, open kitchen, soft lighting. The music, the service, and the food are way to obnoxious for such a romantic space.

Lobster was a hit!!! Impeccable service

Man, Carmel was nothing but spectacular! 🔥 Atlanta Eats was spot on again. Took someone there for a first date and hit a home run — she loved it! We had margaritas (not watered down 💪🏾), shared some mussels — they were small but packed with flavor. I went with the branzino, she had the lobster, and we added collard greens and mashed potatoes on the side. Everything was cooked perfectly. Big shoutout to our waiter David — top-notch service all the way. If you’re looking for a romantic spot with a great vibe, this is it. No military discount, but that’s cool — the night was still 10/10. Plenty of parking garages nearby and valet too.
