Authentic Columbian Meal

By frankochief |

We had a chance to go with some friends to this fabulous restaurant. The place is authentic from the wait staff to the amazing food. We all had different dishes and thought I ordered well with the Pescado Frito/Fried Fish which I loved but I still had ordering envy. The Chicken looked great the Portobello looked good. Something for everyone even vegan's. They also had a huge bowl of Shrimp cocktail as an appetizer that everyone had and loved.

Outstanding!! L

By Judith S |

Went for brunch. Our server, Mariella, was most informative, explaining all the questions we had on the menu as well as suggesting fruit drinks & Columbian coffee. Ordered the Pericos- delicious!!! Portions were more than adequate. Priced most moderately. Would HIGHLY recommend!!!! Can't wait to do dinner!

good food with even better service!

By staceyl2013 |

Our server was so nice and patient! She explained so many things on the menu and helped us to decide what to get. We all liked what we ordered and it was a fun experience to eat Columbian food.

Most expensive Mojito in Austin.

By MToledo70 |

I went to this place today to each Sancocho. I ordered a Mojito but I wanted a better rum than the house rum. I waitress recommended a Flor the Cana 18 years and I agreed. The Sancocho was delicious and the mojito ok. When I got my bill, the Mojito was $28. This is the most expensive Mojito I have ever tried around the world. Unreal!

Great Colombian Food, great flavor!

By Pr_guy27 |

I visited this place during a business trip to Austin. I was so tired of burgers and junk food so decided to take a great food from a latin cuisine. All dishes were flavorful and good portions. Service is superb and prices very good. I would definitely visit this place again! Try the Bandeja Paisa!!! Amazing!!

Great food, great atmosphere

By Sylvia T |

I love this place. The food was so delicious. The arroz con pollo had so much flavor and the portion size was generous. Also had the beef empanadas as appetizer and wow I can see why this restaurant is a favorite for so many. We sat outdoors by the misters, which was very welcoming only because of the humidity. The live music was wonderful. The crowd really enjoyed it enough to join the beautiful singer, who by the way has a fantastic voice. Being out of towners, thewe will definitely make this a usual stop from now on.

A very good place to bring out of town guests...

By Pinaywife |

The place is always busy, we always have to park in a nearby parking lot. We waited a little bit but seated before our reserved time. The receptionist and our server were both friendly and welcoming. The service was fast and the food was delicious. It’s one of our favorite places in Austin.

Good Food And Music

By Connie L |

We ate inside but there was a band playing on the patio. Food was reasonably priced, tasty and portions a nice size. I had a mojito which was excellent. Nice selection of cocktails, wine and beer. Service was friendly though they left dirty dishes on the table too long. Would go back!

Great Service, Okay Food

By Steve D |

This was my first visit to Casa Columbia and my first taste of Colombian food. They also have Cuban and Venezuelan food on the menu. I ordered the Friday special- Chuleta Valluna. It is a very thin breaded and fried pork cutlet. It was served with rice and plantains. The pork was pretty good. It is similar to a German schnitzel, but I like schnitzel better. The rice was very good. The plantains were the consistency of hard foam with no taste or flavor. The sweet tea was pretty good. The setting was really neat but it was very crowded and loud. The service was very good.

Authentic Colombian food, affordable and generous portions

By vmmh |

My Colombian friends recommended this place as the best in town. We've been a few times and we really enjoyed our meals there. The portions are very generous, we haven't been able to make it to dessert!

Great food, amazing service.

So good, I can’t wait to visit again. Marciella was especially kind and generous with her attention.

A slice of Colombia in Texas.

By Dennis R |

We often eat here for lunch, and have gotten to know some of the staff, they are always very helpful and friendly I recommend starting of with the Arborajada a fried cheese and meat filled delight and then ordering the Ropa Vieja for lunch. As I am a creature of habit this is what I always order, my wife has tried the whole menu and loves it all. They are also Futbol (soccer) enthusiast and when a big game comes around they always turn it on.

Comida Colombiano? Chevere!

By Jim T |

Having dined here (and at their old location) many times we always return, especially when our Colombian friends are in town. Every one of them who has dined there with us absolutely loved it, and what more do you need to know? Authentic Colombian Food, authentic Colombian Drinks (except, for some odd reason, no Colombian beer) and Colombian decoration and music. Speaking of music, there is live music some nights on their outdoor patio. Plenty of secure parking.

Unpleasant

By Stephanie M |

I did not like the restaurant at all, the untraditional food, but the service of the worst, today was paid for a bill over 100 dollars , clearly we know that although in the United States is almost mandatory No, there is no law that obliges the consumer to pay a tip to the restaurant worker who has served him, however the waiter who I must clarify had little willingness and only the minimum of a service was available , he was upset by not having given a tip , who I assure was of a mandatory nature, that he had done us the "favor to serve us" here I will question the following not only for consumers , if not restaurant chains, "Tip" or "Free" are the way to thank more than a good "service" , an attitude of cordiality, I respect those details that make you feel at ease, now more if we talk about Latin restaurant, and here my question when you bring the food to the table with a dissenting attitude and you feel that it was to comply since you are in the facilities is mandatory ".... No gentlemen it is not obligatory to pay for such service , if the restaurant chain is not fair with their pay and wait with the diners adjust the pay of a Reviewer are wrong , because likewise there is already an overrun to safeguard the expenses of their establishment, including the pay of a table service, be clear that the waiter is the owner's face to the diners, and this is undoubtedly accompanied by a service and friendly attention, but many used to the tip without the minimum effort and are seriously convinced that it is an obligation. I hope if I come back to this restaurant, I don't run into such a nasty waiter. I felt like I robbed him of what outrage.

A disappointment of a Colombian Restaurant

By Alejandro M |

I feel very disappointed that i haven’t found a good Colombian Restaurants in the Austin area, so far. I considered for two weeks whether to post this review or not, but I decided to post it hoping that this will motivate the restaurant to change. I have it two stars for the excellent service I received from the waiter(s), the hostess and whom I believe was the manager, but what makes a restaurant great is a combination of the food and customer service. First thing I noticed was the empanada, it was soggy and not crispy, somewhat burned, presentation was subpar, and I would argue it was somewhat stale, as of made several hours earlier. Second, my Bandeja Paisa: - The egg was over cooked and deep fried - The sausage (chorizo) was over cooked or reheated, and too small for what I payed. - Notice the patacón (tostones or fried green plantain), it’s an industrial version, something out of a box, not even crispy. - But the Chicharrón - this was my biggest issue. Besides its small size, notice the pork hair left on the skin, that is a big NO NO for a restaurant, a restaurant needs to have their cooks burn it with a torch or on the stove or some other way, but this is a poor presentation and of poor taste to present a chicharrón like that. And not to mention that I couldn’t even cut it with a knife. (Please Note: when I complained, the waiter spoke to the manager, he apologized and replaced it) Third, the juices we ordered: I ordered two large Guayaba (Guava) juices, even though we were sitting at the restaurant for lunch/dinner, they brought us the juices in medium size styrofoam cups, but I am sure the juice was watered down and didn’t taste right, I had already complained about the size of the cups and didn’t feel like complaining about that too, my mind had already been made, We’re not going to that restaurant ever again. Thanks to the stuff for their good service and patience, but I’m very disappointed with the food service.

Good, not Memorable

By Joe G |

For Starters, the name of the Restaurant is "Casa Colombia". Trip advisor has it misspelled as "Casa Columbia" The food was good, but nothing extraordinary. I've had Colombian, Venezuelan, and Cuban food before (all foods offered by this restaurant) and I can say it really wasn't memorable. I'd say, if you're tired of Mexican food and want to try something else, sure, come here. You have to learn the experience of eating something new. I think after your first time, there won't be a need to come back. Again, it's not that the food isn't good, it's just that you're not going to wake up one day and say "gee, I really crave that food again". I had the Bandeja Paisa. Rice and beans are delicious. The steak had good taste but it was extremely thin, a little on the chewy side. I also had some green plantains. I was disappointed. The arepas, I had one filled with Beef, it was very good. The empanads were good too, but not something you're going to crave. I've had empanadas (Both the Colombian and Venezuelan type), and if made well, you will crave eating them day and night. Not so in this Restaurant. What really tasted terrible was the Soda. It has a moldy taste to it. I thought it was the ice but then I had water and the water was fine. So, If you want to enjoy your meal, do not order any sodas. Finally, We spent over $50 for the two of us. What we ate was not worth $50. Maybe $25 would have been a better price.

Casa Colombia is the Proper name

By Carlos B |

We have seen the progression this establishment since its beginning in a nearby wooden building. The new location is unassuming, yet classy and characteristic of the personality of the owners and their excellent treatment of their patrons. The Bandeja Paisa is one of their signature dishes, and it is a feast for a couple or for a very healthy appetite. The Tamales Vallunos provides an interest take for those that may have gotten used to the Mexican Tamal. Trust me, they are different but equally tasty. While you wait for your meal, feel free to enjoy their empanadas, with a crispy non-greasy take on the "meat patties". Their drink selection, particularly the Maracuya Martinin (Passion Fruit Martini) definitely takes you on a magic carpet ride to warmer climates

Great food, Great Music!

A lovely neighborhood restaurant. Good service and tasty traditional Colombian food. Band playing outside was great! Lots of drinks and dinners to choose from. Vegetarian friendly.

A disappointment

By LuckyWest |

I've heard such raves of this place, but the food was a disappointment on our only visit--maybe not fair to judge them on a single meal, but it seemed clear the food just isn't that complex or interesting. I had the banana leaf wrapped tamal, only available Th-Sun. The masa was bland and the filling was unremarkable (3 dry meats, some frozen-tasting vegetables) and while it didn't taste bad, it just didn't have any oomph. The green salad was shredded bag lettuce with bottled Italian dressing, why bother? My husb had the ropa vieja, which was much tastier, but again, sort of "surface" flavors, not deep rich flavor from slow cooking or quality ingredients. My passion fruit mimosa, which the waitress/bartender raved about, was similarly one-note. Again, not bad, but not particularly yummy, frozen fruit and cheap champagne. I'm a fan of dives, but the interior of the old house lacks charm, organization, or appeal, and doesn't look overly clean. Our waitress was nice, but it was clear no one was really trained to wait tables. Took forever to get check and pay. Unimpressed enough not to suggest returning.

bad service

By private p |

the waitress service was rude and unpolite towars our table, this watress was mad, with a really inmature atitud, making faces and made a warning to us to change of table or she was going to change us in the midlle of our lunch, rude, unpolite and inmature, even if the food was great having this kind of atitude our of respect was not a good experience.

Disappointed

By Sarah B |

The menu options sounded authentic but quality was lacking. My vegetables tasted like they were from a frozen bag. The plantains were dry. The chicken and sauce were flavorless. My husband enjoyed his meal, though. An Austin resident friend commented that this place used to have better food.

The Arroz con Pollo is FANTASTIC!

By Michelle G |

I happened to find this little gem by my Airbnb and decided to stop and grab a bite. What a great decision! I was blown away by the flavourful Arroz con Pollo and their Happy Hour $1 beef empanaditas. I had to get 3 more pieces to go for tomorrow's breakfast 😉 Since I was traveling solo, I ate at the bar and their service was also 5* #GlobalTravelHacks #SoloTravelGuide #FoodieExperience

I flew in from Denver for a business meeting. The staff was overly attentive and informative. Very close to the airport and easy to find.

Authentic South American Fare, Casual Setting

By 67brickie |

Dining option among many recommended by friends; easy to find and be seated. Menu items well described but unfamiliar, you sort of end up guessing by the photos and description and hope for the best. Service was somewhat spotty (though it was busy and crowded - e.g. ordered Coke mid-dining which didn't arrive until I was finished with all my food). Food was fresh though uninspiring. Did not care for any of the arepas (too thick, too dry); flank steak chimmichura was well prepared and tasty. The serving sizes are very generous so be prepared to share ot get carry box. All i all, certainly "ok" but personally would not repeat.

Authentic Food

By jkh173 |

I am originally from nyc where we try out all sorts of food. Living in TX well you do not have access to all types of food at once. So oncoming to Austin I was hoping to find a Latino Food places and this Colombian place did not disappoint. They had nice Spanish music playing that allowed for conversation. The waitress was on point in her customer service skills. We had a mango Rita , it was delicious. Their fried yuca just what I was hoping for. I also had a guananava en leche, so good. If you havnt tried something this "exotic " please do. And finally our main dish was the bandeja paisa. Always get it no matter where I go, and it was great. Best part the chicharrón. Go here and you will not be disappointed.

Bland and well prepared

By Stiglitz11 |

Knowing what you are in for is a good thing. Columbian food is spineless and about as bland as food can be prepared. If you really like cardboard that looks wonderful on your plate and is tasteless then this is it. It looks great and just like in Bogota and the rest of Columbia it has zero flavor. Plantains are the saw dust of bananas. Columbians have never seen a chili or used pepper.

Good cocktails

By Car0927 |

The food is not very refined but plenty and good. One does not always have to opportunity to try Columbian food and the menu is interesting! We had cocktails and recommend them! Good atmosphere.

Excellent Food and AWESOME service!!!

By tylor1998 |

We had heard great things about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. This restaurant was AWESOME!! The food was great and tasted authentic. You got the impression you were in Colombia or any Central/South American country. The service was great and our waitress Gigi was so friendly. We ordered empanadas, Arepa con queso, Pabellon, Pechuga Rellena, and the tres leches cake for dessert! The meal was perfect and we will be returning!

Expected to find a new favorite but didn't.

By PAC Texas |

We went to Casa Columbia with great anticipation. I had been there for a drink and the food smelled so good. When we got there on a Saturday evening the place was packed. We did, however get a table in the corner quickly. We ordered drinks, they were ok but expensive. Then we ordered ceviche which was good but served with green plantains which were not usable with the ceviche. We asked for some chips to scoop it up but they don't have chips. We each ordered a meal off the specialties list, the Ropa Vieja and the Pabellon, and both were not great. We were pretty disappointed. Maybe we don't "get" Columbian food. The crowd in the restaurant would tell you other people are liking it.

great columbian food

Enjoyed everything we ordered

By Two Wilsons |

This was our first time to visit here. There were three of us and we ordered a variety of things to try. We had the the arepas with goat cheese, and one with beef. We shared a couple of other appetizers, and a wonderful stuffed chicken dish. EVERYTHING we had was very flavorful, and I would order again. The third person in our group went back 2 days later to take others to experience the wonderful food. I will be going back as soon as we are back on the Austin area!

One of my neighborhood favorites

By kevin j |

Great Colombian food. Many diff entree selections and apps. Fresh & presented well. Service excellent. Variety of drink offerings. Nice atmosphere Inside or Out on patio. Dined their several times and has always been consistently very good. Only wish they had a Happy hour. Not a Tex-Mex place. East Austin Favorite.

Delicious Food -Wonderful Service

By TheTravelTruth |

Go ahead and spend all of your money at an upscale restaurant with mediocre food or have great food in this quaint establishment on East 7th. We were a group of five arriving about 645pm. Our hostess was so nice and clearly proud of their food selections. I asked her to choose something for me. So I had the Churrasco. It was so flavorful, the steak was cooked perfectly, very tender. The chimmichura was the best I've had. Other selections at our table - Pescado Cilantro - Bistec Encabellado. Two delicious appetizers and soup. Everyone's plate was clean at the end of the meal. I will be back. We all will.

Best Churrasco in Austin, TX

By MizzGen0725 |

My boyfriend and I went here on a recommendation by friends. The ambiance was awesome. There’s live music on the patio, and has such a Friday night feel to it. Drinks are amazing, and Sebastian our bartender was awesome at guiding us to the perfect drinks. After having been to Puerto Rico and falling in love with their Churrasco this place nailed it!! It’s become an every other Friday date night for us. All the staff is helpful and Joseph (manager) always greets us when we come. This restaurant is a MUST! 👍🏼❤️

Best Colombian food in town

By Adrienne S |

I love this place! Every thing I have ever tried here is amazing. Best favors ever! The drinks are good and they run great specials. I love the ropa vieja, i have a hard time eating anything else because it is so tasty. I recently took my mother in law who is from Puerto Rico, is was so amazed by the food, not sure she has eaten that much since I have known her. The owners are friendly and the food will never disappoint.

Good Colombian food and experience...

By Pinaywife |

We came to this place for Mother’s Day celebration, and through someone’s good recommendation. We did an online reservation, and so we skipped the long wait. We ordered mango and lulo juice for our drink. They did not have aguardiente antiqueño this time, but our server Mariella recommended crystal. It’s comparable. We had pollo pechuga rellena and bandeja paisa. It was all delicious. It brought back good memories from our trip to Colombia. And for our grand finale, it’s the mousse de maracuya. Yummy 😋!!!

Nothing special

By Nacho_A |

Empanadas were nice. Mimosas were like a frozen margarita, disappointing. Churrasco was tough and mashed potatoes cold. Place is too small and too loud. Will not return.

Delicious foood!

By Reba P |

I don't really know Columbia food, but can say it is not Tex-Mex, but is absolutely familiar in a deslicious sort of way! Location: a little drive to the east side of town, passing by some of the trendy boutique type eateries and newer music venues, but well worth it! Parking can be tight, but in the evening I was told parking in the neighboring bank's spaces was a safe bet. Great for groups or families. Bar has TV for sports fans. Definitely a place I recommend you try!

Tasty Fare in East Austin

By David T |

I just really loved this restaurant. I've had Puerto Rican and Cuban food, but I had never tried Colombian food. Our experience was wonderful. The portions are large. I started with an appetizer Arepa with queso. It was pretty good. But our great appetizer was the Picada Colombiana. It's a mixture of Beef, Pollo, Cerdo, Plantains and potatoes. Gosh, it was very good. It was a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. For lunch, I ordered the Tamal Valluno.. It's corn masa stuffed with beef, chicken and pork and wrapped in a banana leaf. It was huge. It was so flavorful. It was more than I could eat and I was regretting not finishing it. My partner ordered the Churrasco. it was pretty good, but I liked my tamal more. The wait staff was very good and attentive. The tea was kept full. The food came fairly quickly and was hot. I liked the décor and murals of the restaurant. Casa Colombia is definitely worth your visit.

Columbian/ South American Restaurant

By Marley T |

First visit here. Got the Pollo Guisado with dark meat, which was very moist, tender, and flavorful. Wanted to try the fried green plantains so I requested them instead of the fried yucca that came with the meal. Maybe I should have stuck with the yucca. Plantains were dry and not a lot of flavor. Would go back to try other items on the menu. Would have given 4 and a half stars if an option.

nice late lunch

fun spot as part of my Austin patio survey … food was good, service kind of spotty, crowd pleasant, got crowded when everybody scrunched up to get everybody under the overhang

Great Food at Fair Prices!

By CharlieinTexas |

The menu has lots of variety, and this place offers delicious Latin food, that is a nice change of pace from the abundance of Mexican restaurants in town. Best ceviche I have had in recent memory, loaded with fish and a more subtle lime taste than typical ceviche. Delicious salmon, meat, and hen stew (weekends only), and more. Excellent service. Some outdoor seating. This place deserves a try if you haven’t been there.

Great food at a good price

By SCPellegrin |

Ate here for the first time with two customers and a co-worker. The food was very delicious. They had been here before and knew just what to order. I don’t remember the name of my dish, it had chicken that was cooked and mixed in the rice. It was very good.

Great find

By Gordon F |

The fried pork was tremendous (see photo for name). The noise was tolerable and the food was amazing. Try it; you will like it.

Horrible Service! Food is good.

By Edward R |

Service was terrible!!! Went Sunday and once we sat down and placed our food order the food took exactly 59 minutes to arrive to our table. Worse part manager came to our table and told us that they ran out of white rice but they would bring us the food that was ready, that still took 20 more minutes to bring the food! On top of all of this the Manager did not even comp anything or apologize for anything! Apparently he is the younger partner out of the owners and he has a lot to learn about service!! If the owner sets this standard no wonder the service is always bad!!!

A good unique alternative food type restaurant in Austin

By TMY1 |

My first time dining here with a couple girlfriends, for lunch, I really thought it was awesome. Food and service was great, and part of that was because we got a 4 table by the window, and the big groups left while we were dining. I had the Pechuga Rellena. I'm not a flan dessert person, but one of the ladies ordered the caramel flan and it was delicious. Second time coming back was for dinner with my husband one evening. Called ahead so they had table within 10-15 minutes of our arrival, much to the dissatisfaction of others who were waiting outside. However, there were a couple of large parties just getting there, and we were stuck in a tight spot behind the cash register and where the door opens to/from the kitchen. It was sooo noisy being right here also. Hard to even carry on a conversation. I had the same dish, but our food was overcooked, dry, and the house red wine tasted like vinegar. We did love the Aborrajado appetizer. I will go back again, but not for a couples type dinner, and I think I will only dine there on off times and/or off days, to see if I can hit it right when it's not so busy and loud. And I will stick to a beer or the Mimosas if I want a drink. I love the uniqueness of their menu and want to try the Plantain Beef Soup next time and a couple other dishes on their menu.

Sopa de Patacones - A Soup to Die For!

By Fran3510 |

I’m one of those people who find a favorite dish at a restaurant and then tend to return to that restaurant again and again just for that one particular dish. Well, for me, at Casa Columbia, that dish is Sopa de Patacones (Plantain Soup). It’s nothing terribly fancy, but . . . oh, so delicious! It is basically a beef and potato soup, but what a soup! The broth has a depth of flavor that is amazing! And the bowl of soup provides a hefty amount of meat, so you feel very satisfied when done. Now, don’t settle on the small bowl of soup because you will be denying yourself part of the plantain soup experience. With the medium size order you not only get the bowl of soup with two nice sized fried plantains, you also get a side of steamed rice and a quarter serving of fresh ripe avocado. You need to add spoonfuls of rice into your soup along with pieces of the creamy avocado to enjoy the full experience of the soup with periodic bites of the fried plantain. A truly wonderful culinary experience. I recommend the large portion only for those with a hearty appetite. Casa Colombia has a full menu of many Colombian dishes but this soup is my menu favorite and one dish that never disappoints.

Lovely meal!

By Lydia S |

There are so many dining options in East Austin these days, and we're glad we sampled this one. Every menu item we selected was really good. Generous portions....I had plenty to take home for a follow-up lunch. We were there on a Friday night....some wonderful live music happening on the patio. Highly recommend. We'll visit again....

Birthday or any day!

By Elda G |

This restaurant is in my top 3 for Austin! The food is amazing and the staff is great! Trip advisor has their old address, but their new location is a little further east on 7th street after the railroad tracks. 2409 East 7th is their new address. Starting with an aborrajado would make your day. It's almost dessert-like, but the added sauce makes it the perfect appetizer. Their soups are great. I've had everything from their Bandeja Paisa ( huge appetite) to their Pescado de mayonesa, and I've yet to be disappointed with anything on their menu. Their drinks are excellent and made with real fruit pulp. Try a fresh mango water if you're curious. I can't say enough about this place. I'm glad they've moved to this new and bigger location. You can do bbq on another day!

You will not walk away hungry.

By LFROMTX |

This was an interesting choice made by someone else in our party, but I was not disappointed. My husband and I shared the Bandeja Paisa, which consisted of a tender beef skirt, fried chicharron, and a fried egg over a bed of white rice, sweet plantains, pinto beans, a slice of avocado and an arepa. This was plenty of food for us after sharing some of the Picada Colombiana appetizer. I want to go back and try an empenada and their chicken and rice casserole.

Amazing service and stellar food

By disgruntledpelican |

We'll get to the food in a moment. First, the service... awesomely unreal. The waitress was like my aunt that I never had -- she kept calling me "dear" and things like that, checking up on me every few minutes, making funny conversation. I want to give this place five stars just for the at-home feeling I got from just the waitstaff. Now, the food. Nom nom nom. A winner. I started off with the "aborrajado," which is fried sweet plantains with cheese. What they don't mention is that it's a mild cheese and "maduro" super sweet plantains, battered then deep-fried like you're at some sort of secret county fair. It was crazy delicious and huge enough for me to take home. One caveat -- it's an appetizer, but it should be a dessert. The sweetness had me saving it until I finished my meal. And I could barely finish it! I ordered the "bandeja paisa." Check this: beef skirt, fried chicharron, fried egg, white rice, sweet plantains, beans, half an avocado and an arepa (cornmeal patty). It was a monstrous meal, but I'm proud/ashamed to say I ate it all. The meat has amazing seasonings on it... loved the delicate flavors going on everywhere. The meal was very starch-heavy, but it was worth it. I never got to try the different types of arepas (the one served with dinner was just a plain one, so I can't attest to them, but if the meal I had is any indication, it's worth the trip.

The best Columbian food!

Great Columbian food and the best mimosas in town! I have been there at least once a year for the last few years. Highly recommended!!!

Good food served with a Poor Attitude

By Sluckumms |

Have been a couple times. Like the food, but the service is woefully slow. Worse is how we were treated when we ordered a fruit drink with milk. Server brought the drink with water - we sent it back so he added a dash of milk. We saw this and called it out. He replied that's how we make it here. But, we paid more for a fruit drink with milk, not "mixed" or made of water. There's a big difference !So unfortunate, but this experience ruined our visit. Will not be heading back.

Delicious!

By Ebony S |

I probably shouldn't leave a review as I'd hate for another one of my favorites in Austin to get more packed, but, this food is very authentic. I loved it so much... I'm thinking about dishes days later.

Fresh and tasty

By Jen78703 |

A friend and I went to Casa Columbia about an hour before it closed. It was VERY busy with new people walking in right up until closing. There is inside and outside seating. It was a cooler evening with a breeze so we sat outside- but the seating is along 7th st so in high traffic hours it might be noisy. There is also plenty of parking in their parking lot. The restaurant is accessible for people in wheel chairs or with limited mobility. We shared a cheese aprepa to start and it was a little firmer and drier than I like but my friend loved it. I ordered a water based passion fruit drink, it was tart and refreshing and just how I like it. We both ordered the Pollo Guisado with fried yucca, white rice and salad. We were given the option to have either dark or white meat. The yucca was light and slightly crispy, the salad was simple but fresh with a light creamy dressing (perhaps lemon?) on the side. Our food arrived promptly and was delicious. No leftovers - we cleaned our plates. It did take a while for a waiter to come over and get our order- there might have been some confusion about the seating. But once we ordered the service was prompt.

Great Meal; Delicious Ceviche and Whole Tilapia

By CharlieinTexas |

My wife and I had dinner here, after a several year hiatus. Actually, first time at this location. The food is extremely tasty, friendly service, reasonable prices, and a varied menu. Among the best ceviche I have had in a long time. The whole fried to tilapia was delicious. My Herradura Blanco with one ice cube was a strong pour, and my wife said her frozen margarita was up there with Fonda San Miguel – – which she considers the best frozen margarita in Austin. She said her tilapia dish was also quite good. Only knock on this place is that the atmosphere is nonexistent. Not a place you want to come to for romantic dining, but you do want to come for the great food!

A really cool place, try Columbian food it's different and good

By Clark418 |

I was really impressed with the variety available. The fresh juices were delicious with an option to add milk or water. I ordered the pollo guisado and the little corn cakes with goat cheese as an app. All was outstanding

Great Food in East Austin

This restaurant serves excellent food and service. The chicken and fish dishes are very nice. Every person who works there tries to make you feel at home. I have visited this place before, and I will definitely return.

A Colombian gem in Austin

By RoseAnne F |

We've been visiting this place for years- even before it was in its current location. It has all the Colombian favorites (e.g., tamal valluno, pollo guisado) and few regional dishes as well (e.g., ropa vieja). We love the patacones rellenos. The service has been consistent and some of the dishes are even better than what we've had in Colombia ;) And Marcella is an institution and is so kind. To be sure Colombian food is different than Mexican or Argentinean cuisine, but if you're looking for fantastic Colombian dishes, this place is it!

Taste of Columbia in Austin

By Vincent M |

I have followed Casa Columbia through 4 locations and 3 name changes. Their new location is excellent. Parking is Great, The Location is Great. And the facility is Great. I always order the same item. Pescado Frito, extra crispy. There are other menu items to enjoy that are 100% Columbian.. You can't go wrong with any.

Top 2 Latin/South American Restaurant in Austin

We come here as often as possible, main drag is too far from us since it is near downtown with traffic/etc. Always great to eat. The "aborrajado" is unique (have not found it anywhere else!) and it is excellent. Other dishes that are always great include the Pescado en Cilantro (Fish with Cilantro Mayo), arroz con pollo. Also The beef empanadas never disappoint. Keep it up!

Visited this place a Tuesday night and I'm glad I did. Food was delicious and service was great. I tried " arepas con queso" and the 3 potato soup w. chicken ... very very delicious ! I reccomend this place.

Authentic, family-owned Colombian restaurant!

By Tatiana T |

Went this past Saturday night and we were so glad we made a reservation ahead of time - this place was packed and had a line waiting to get in, and for good cause! The food was absolutely delicious - I had the Bandeja Paisa and my husband had the Bandeja Tipica & Antioqueña. VERY generous portions and packed with flavor. If you are in search of authentic Colombian food, this is the place. Service was a little slow, but then again it was a packed Saturday night, and their staff was super friendly and very very hospitable.

Great traditional Colombian food and other popular options

By Sandra R Kusakabe |

The best thing is the flavored, the typical Colombian flavors, the price is ok considering that Austin is more expensive than Houston were you can find multiple Colombian and latinoamericano options. The service is very slow, they are very relax so do not expect a fast service, they are nice and friendly. BTW the name is Casa Colombia no Columbia...
