Wow! Consistency is the key when it comes to this restaurant!! Every year that we visit San Diego and go to Old Town, Casa Guadalajara is at the top of our list!! The food was as always so amazing! Service was great also! Chicken fajitas, burritos, and big portions for the kids meals!! My favorite is the chicken fajitas with homemade flour tortillas!!! Our family loves this place!!

A little off-center from the tourist hustle and bustle of old town, nice restaurant with a large shaded terrace, fountain. Nice and fast service. Good and ultra hearty dishes!!! Margarita huge!!! Good time during the visit to old town.

I don´t eat Mexican food very often but when in Old Town San Diego, you just have to! So I chose Casa Guadalajara and it proved to be an excellent choice. Service was friendly, helpful and swift. I went with the Enchilladas De Guacamole and loved it. Can definitely recommend the restaurant and would go back.

This restaurant was recommended by our Uber driver. The food is excellent. Several notches above ordinary Mexican. The decor is very attractive. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. Altogether enjoyable experience.

This is our go to Mexican restaurant in San Diego, the food is delicious, the decoration and surroundings are unique, large quantities, great margaritas, we love this place!

This would be far exceeding my expectations for a Mexican restaurant! Service was great with traditional dress. An amazing selection of dishes so we opted for Chicken chimichangas and a beef enchilada to die for. They threw in some nachos and fresh tortillas for good measure Very tasty and delicious Saw people having fun with some colourful margaritas I’m definitely going back to try them!

Authentic mexican foods which were fantastic. We ate outside which was very nice. Both the quality of the food and the service was very good.

Terrible Food and terrible waitress, never again! Probably the worst Mexican food you can ever find anywhere in San Diego. Even the chips and salsa were horrible. The waitress never smiled once and was in such a bad mode. Never came to check on the table once.

Nothing special. Typical chain Mexican food. Outdoor dining was great and salsa was delish. Very generous serving sizes. Won’t go back as it was nothing memorable.

Had nachos and guacamole. Was average, nothing special. Server was good...checked up on us a few times.

My husband and I came here to have some drinks. We asked if it was OK to only have drinks, which it was. After 15 mins the bill was presented to us without us asking for it, which we found very rude. In the end, we are paying costumers and there were plenty tables available. My husband ordered a premium tequila to drink neat but it was served with a salt rim with alot of the salt inside the glass. We are also quite sure that the tequila they served us was not the premium tequila we ordered. We tried the same tequila later that night in another bar and that was totally different.

Wow, this was a fun and delicious meal experience! We had a large party, which the restaurant handled easily. There are so many beautiful areas at this restaurant. We were seated next to a secondary bar with beautiful stained glass. They were able to accommodate all of the kids and adults. Noteworthy items were the fresh tortillas, the carne asada tacos, and the blood orange margaritas! The patio was also just beautiful.

Long story....I had a large party of people come to this restaurant because we were celebrating my mom's 87th birthday. So I wanted to make sure that before my guests arrived I would secure a large table. Casa Guadalajara does not provide reservations. So I checked in and told the staff that I needed a large table. They gave me a timer so they would notify me when the table was ready. In the interim, I went to the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender who took my order was polite and efficient. Apparently, he was in training. His trainer was borderline rude. About 30 minutes later I walked over to talk to the hostess to see if I could sit at the table while I waited. The manager, I think his name is Filiberto..something that rhymes with that name...was VERY rude to me. He interrogated me about why I wanted to sit at the table. He kept asking how many people had arrived. I have never been treated so rudely by a "manager." Who ever is his manager should evaluate him frequently. In my opinion, he is the worst manager I have ever dealt with. His other staff are fine. Food was fine..overpriced though. Yes, I recommend this restaurant...just stay away from their "manager."

Food was good, service good, drinks good. Only drawback was how busy it was in the evening. Overall very good experience.

We were visiting Old Town in San Diego The greatest waiter award goes to Jose Luis, who was our waiter. He was very knowledgeable about the food, the area, and the libations. We ordered special margaritas and the trio fajitas, the ultimate green chili burrito and the fish tacos, my favorite. Can't wait to come back!!

I was visiting from out-of-state with friends. We stopped here to order take-out. I ordered the combo #1, tacos with rice and beans. I ordered chicken tacos. My friend ordered a burrito for her husband. When we started eating at my friend's house we found the tacos were beef, not chicken. They were dry and hard to chew. My friend's husband said the burrito wasn't good. I wouldn't go here again.

It was our son-in-law's 30th birthday so we had a large (6) family group for dinner. The wait was not long (walk-in only) and the place was lively, colorful and obviously popular. The mariachi band was hokey in the extreme, but good fun. The portions were huge; no one cleaned his plate, but the food was good. An extensive menu with all the ususal Mexican dishes plus some more interesting ones.

Came here based on the reviews and proximity to my hotel. For one on a Saturday night I had about a 30-minute wait. But I came around 6:00. Food was pretty good, though I had better a few times further north. My expectations were high. Service was fabulous, and the atmosphere was festive with lots of color and a live mariachi band that roamed around. Lots of great safe evening walking around old town SD nearby, so a great place to hang out at for the evening.

The atmosphere, the food, the service are absolutely wonderful. Usually there is a wait and it is worth it. The outside dining is so nice. Even in winter there are overhead heaters to make it comfortable.

I found this right around the corner from my hotel. As said before parking is a little tight. I had enchiladas Suizas. To me it was ok. Meat did not have any spice flavor. Rice and beans were good. The waiter was real helpful to pick a meal, but then he never came back. He did not bring the meal. I had to ask for the check and he never came back for that. I went to the counter to pay. It looked like a family run restaurant. I was there about 3pm.

We went with friends on a Monday night and the place was packed. We were able to find parking at the restaurant despite the crowd. The noise level was very high as a result and that resulted in the four star rating. The service was very good and the drinks came very quickly. We like to linger over drinks and catch up with friends. The server continued to check on us periodically which was great. We had the steak rancheros, the enchiladas verde, and the seafood enchilada and all were wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Nice Mexican place, truly typical atmosphere. Generous portions, quick service. Food quality good but not excellent. Definitely recommended for an evening filled with a genuine Mexican atmosphere

We really enjoyed our midweek lunch here. We sat on their outdoor patio, a lovely space with welcome shade and a pretty fountain. Margaritas were awesome, even their “small” is big. Fried fish and shrimp tacos were the best we had all week in San Diego. Service was outstanding. Simply a great dining experience. They even had their own parking, nice for Old Towne.

Amazing service. Our order arrived hot and to our preferences in a matter of minutes! The food was great and the portions were big. We were there for lunch and would have benefited from sharing an entree.

Found this place for an early dinner. Quickly seated, menus given and then orders taken. lovely interior to make you think of Mexico. Great food and attentive service . They have their own parking lot for easy parking, In the outskirts of old town. Will return when we journey here again

If you have a group or a special event to celebrate this is the place for you! Loud, colorful, fun, musicians and great food. Not recommended if you want a quiet place to have a meal and chat. Food, like I said was very good but hey, it's Sand Diego. All the Mexican food here has been excellent! Where the rubber meets the road, is what kind of ambiance are you after.

We were visiting Old Town last Saturday and decided on Mexican food. There is no lack to the offerings there. We chose Casa Guadalajara and split a meal of shrimp fajitas. They were excellent. Service was also top notch. We sat on the patio and the breeze made the afternoon very comfortable. We will be back.

The wait to get in on a Monday night was about 45 minutes. The food was good and they had a big selection of menu options. I would go back here if I am in San Diego. Right by Old Town San Diego, so there is lots to see while you wait to get in.

This restaurant was recommended by a couple of locals. It did not disappoint. Very tasty. Huge portions. Lovely wait staff

We were visiting SD from N. California and mexican food was on our agenda. We hit several local favorites while there, but Casa G left them all behind. I know my mexican food. I make salsa, mole, and various dishes from scratch. The food was excellent, margs super good, and service was excellent, even though they were swamped on a Saturday night. But beyond that, as the hostess was walking us to our table, she grabbed my shoulder to be sure i saw a step that needed to be negotiated as we entered the dining room. I have an artificial hip and certainly would have fallen. After dinner, i made sure the manager was made aware of his excellent hostess. Check my reviews, i don’t give out 5 stars. Casa G deserves it.

Great food and great service!!!! The outdoor seating was nice. Had the carna Asada tacos!! Would go back!

I wish they did, but this restaurant does *NOT* serve sopapillas, contrary to what reviewer SJP1321 wrote. Nevertheless, the food was fresh and tasty. Ambiance and service are pleasant.

Stayed at Hilton Garden Inn and this place is right across the road. Arrived around 8 got a table no problem even though it was still busy - was a good atmosphere. Large choice of Mexican dishes and the food is good quality.

Im so full! I need a nap! Enchiladas were so good. Guacamole was good. My daughter ordered mango and cheese quesadilla. She said it was amazing! This is not our first time here. We will definitely go again next time we are in town!

The food is always great here, but the mole was the best I have ever had. We ate in the patio and it was lovely,

This restaurant is conveniently located across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn where we stayed. I loved that we didn't have to hassle with parking, but if you drive there, they have a good-sized parking lot. The outdoor patio was lovely. Both the food and the staff were excellent. The restaurant was very clean. We will dine here next time we are in town again.

I ordered tequila on the rocks, when the bill came I find that the management was charging an additional $2.00 for the basic ice in my tequila???? Casa Guadalajara should be ashamed of themselves for padding their customers bill by charging for ice.... Ridiculous! Otherwise..... Service was fast, food on the table in less than 5 minutes from ordering. Quality of the food was average, not good, not bad. Upon complaint, management did remove the ice charge. Our server Beyonce was great, friendly and attentive. I felt bad to have complain about the ice charge with her since she was so nice. It's a shame management puts her & me in such an awkward position. At the end of the day $2.00 is nothing. But if we don't stand up against these sort of frivolous charges, they will never end. If Casa Guadalajara wants to charge more for the drink, then just legitimately list a higher price for the drink.... Hopefully, this public shaming will convince Casa Guadalajara to end this devious ice charge policy.

30 of us decamped here after a busy week of meeting for a great dinner. Food was excellent, servings were huge and the service quick and attentive. Nice outside dining area.

I make sure to stop in here at least once every time I visit San Diego from the DC area. Great food and drinks. Especially love the Frozen Margaritas!! YUM! The Queso is a little different from traditional Queso but it isn't horrible. Love this place overall and highly recommend.

We were hungry for some authentic Mexican cuisine…so we decided to try the Guadalajara… the parking lot was full, which is usually a good sign. The restaurant was also full, so we were feeling pretty confident! Service was prompt and our order as taken. The food arrived almost before we could dip into the chips and salsa(which wasn’t that good :() We ordered 2 of the combination plates. The food was eatable but def not outstanding or even very good… just eatable. The chicken in the enchilada was just some stringy shredded chicken and the same for the beef taco. No special sauces or added touches… just the shredded meats! I’m not Hispanic and can do Mexican better than what we were served The Chile rellano was the best thing on the plate and it was just good. The only thing that could possibly bring us back were the prices. Those were very reasonable and again, the service was very good. I wish I could say the same about the food :/

My husband and I stopped by for lunch on March 7, 2020. We were seated right away and we were given chips and salsa. We always order spicier salsa since the salsa they normally serve are for the heat shy population if you know what I mean. We ordered the following: 1 queso fundido, 1 beef chimichanga, 1 camarones diablo, 1 Bohemia beer,a nd 2 medium hand shaken Margaritas. Total without the tip was 83.13. I bit pricey...but you are in heart of Old Town..so it is a bit of a tourist trap (we are locals). Anyhow-the food tasted good. The only disappointment is that I ordered my chimichanga extra crispy (it was not). Our waitress was attentive. Her name starts with an "A" and ends with an "A". I normally do not identify the wait staff because I am not sure if they would like it...Would I return? Yes.

We ate here twice on our trip to the area. The first time was an early dinner because our hotel room wasn't ready. We sat in the bar and had amazing service. He was taking orders, making drinks, and managing it all in a friendly and efficient manner. The food was fantastic. The portions are huge and everything was seasoned perfectly. The tortillas were fresh and flavorful. Probably the best tortillas we've had at a restaurant. The next day we returned for a late dinner and sat in the dining room. Our server was a bit gruff and not at all attentive like the one we had the day before. She almost seemed annoyed by our presence. The food was still good with huge portions, and of course the tortillas were amazing and fresh. Our drinks were not quite as good as the previous day. We might have ordered another round to see if those were better, but she seemed impatient to get us out of the table, so we left. Based on the food, alone, we would definitely return if ever in the area again and will recommend to others who are in San Diego.

Very fast and friendly service. Everything we had was delicious. One warning - the large margaritas are HUGE....but delicious!

Where does one begin? My visits, yes there were multiple spanned through 3 months, starting in January through March of this year. As I used to live in San Diego, I wasn’t new to Casa Guadalajara by any means. This was my mothers favorite place to get Mexican food, and she used to always have her birthday meals with her best friend here as well. So why wouldn’t I visit and get my hometown fix while in SD. I was home tending to my mothers onset of medical conditions. And what better to calm the nerves than San Diego comfort food. My mothers best friend and I always took a table on the patio as there was hardly a bad day. DEverything we ordered was always really good. As I I mentioned how this place served as comfort, and it definitely answered that call the day my mother passed away. It was in her honor that we ordered her favorite plate and drink to celebrate her in the only way we knew to do so. We also came here after her viewing, just three of us. The service, always top notch. The food, I mean I still crave it while here in Northern VA. I’d review the food we had, but it was 5 stars every time. I would get teased every time I talked to my partner and told him I was out to lunch and he assumed I was here. He was right 90% of the time. You won’t go wrong coming here no matter what the occasion is. And this is more of my way of saying Thank you for the years you provided great food and service to myself, my mother, and her best friend over the years.

We went there when they were almost closing. They served a huge portion of nachos with salsa. Best not to have that a lot else you will miss out on the real food. Very authentic food. We didn't like the fish chimi changa, everything else was amazing

We went here as 2 wedded couples. We were visiting San Diego and they (living here) decided to take us to this Mexican place. We really liked it! Usually I have a hard time finding some good vegetarian options, but this place had plenty of good options! The portions we got were really big and unfortunately I couldn't finish my whole plate, but I really enjoyed eating here. We arrived around 5 PM here, and it was still quiet. A lot of people came around 6-7PM, it was pretty packed. They also had a musician playing music as ambiance music, which was a nice touch!

On a business trip with co workers looking for some outstanding Mexican food. We found it. Our server, Jose was Fantastic and delightfully helpful!!! I had the Tequila Lime Shrimp- so tasty and the homemade flour tortillas, so delicious! All of the margaritas were amazing. It is a very busy place and they do not take reservations, worth the wait!

The decor and staff uniforms are stereotypical "Mexican Restaurant" to the max, and the food is stereotypical "Mexican food" to the max also. Serviceable, not to be mistaken for any other culture, but I've had much better in many locations around the southwest (and in Mexico). The chicken tamale was bland, and the chicken was dry. The vegetarian enchilada was much better -- with finely shredded vegetables and corn in a tasty green sauce. The rice was above average, with good complexity of flavors. The beans were average. The chips were fresh and crunchy, not greasy, and the table salsa was mild and relatively simple. If you are not familiar with Mexican food, and want a typical tourist experience, Casa Guadalara could be a good choice, but better food is easily available.

We always try to go here when we're in San Diego. Great restaurant. A little hiccup this time, though. First of all, we were very appreciative of the manager person who helped get us a table in the bar during a very busy time. However, there was a little problem with the shrimp fajitas. They bring a loudly sizzling plate with all the hot items on it plus another plate with the cold items. But no tortillas. So my wife is sitting there with her food getting cold and I'm trying to round up some tortillas. Finally, they bring me TWO tortillas. For all this food! And here's the good part: No plate to assemble and eat the fajitas. I finally had to lay the tortilla on the table between the two plates and put it together. This was not the service I was used to getting at this restaurant. My wife's food, the drinks and the rest of the experience was first rate. We'll be back but a little discussion will be necessary before I order the fajitas again.

Lovely decor and atmosphere. Service was ok. Food was average at best. More like a factory than a restaurant. Went Saturday night very busy, should have booked waited 45 minutes for a table. Music stopped at around 9 which was a shame. Was not offered desert presume staff wanted to go home. Would not go back

Had the pleasure of dining here for the first time with my boyfriend this weekend. Seating was quick and we were able to dine on the outdoor patio that was beautifully decorated. It truly felt like we weren't sitting in the middle of San Diego. The food came in such large portions and was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken mango quesadilla which was exquisite and my partner loved his meal as well. we'll definitely be coming back

Good Mexican food an easy walk from Old Town. Servings are large so plan to either split them or take home. The margaritas are good, but for the freshest, order the mango margarita.

Everything you could want in a Mexican Restaurant, top tier service, gorgeous, vibrant and colorful interior, lovely food presentation and textures, fresh tortillas..everything you could want. What was missing was flavor. Great spot to bring tourists that have no experience with spice.

While in the area looking at colleges, we stayed at the hotel across the street. We decided to try the restaurant as it was so close. We are glad we did!! The food was amazing!! Service was great. Great portion sizes, fresh flavor. Highly recommend eating here if in the area. We will eat here again if we are in the area. It's that good!!

We were in the Old Town area, so we decided to have dinner here for our first restaurant meal in over a year. We sat on the patio. Soon, a large basket of chips and salsa were delivered and our order taken. There is a large menu with lots to choose from. My wife had the Enchiladas Trio, which is three different enchiladas, rice and beans. I had the Pollo Asado Y Vegetales, which is a grilled chicken breast smothered with sauteed vegetables. Black beans and cilantro lime slaw came on the side. The food was excellent and plentiful. Service was good until after our food was delivered and then our waiter seemed to disappear. No offer of refills and we had to wait quite awhile for our check. Overall, a good place to eat.

We have enjoyed visiting and eating in Old Town San Diego on numerous occasions, usually at Fiesta del Reyes. This time we wanted something different and ventured into Casa Guadalajara. It is a beautiful place with plenty of parking. Emmanuel, our server was friendly, outgoing and patient. He explained all our choices and the service and food was very good. My Ceviche was large, fresh and delicious. The whole experience was great.

This place is at the edge of old town in San Diego. It is certainly a very popular spot. After 6 PM you can probably expect to wait for up to half an hour or more for a table. But the wait would be worthwhile. We shared the fish tacos and that was very tasty. They also have some good options for kids including chicken tenders and fries. Our waitress was very pleasant and the overall ambience is nice. There is plenty of free parking although the parking lot does fill up quickly. The toilets are very clean.

The restaurant is nicely set however the food was not very good. I found it a little redundant in the 3 dishes we ordered. The service was very good. What they can't stop doing is going to Old Town and knowing its streets.

My husband and I had lunch on a Saturday. It was a bit of a challenge to find parking in their parking lot. Once we did, we were seated inside readily. We ordered the following: 2 House Margaritas, 1 Cantarito, Beef Chimichanga, Sopes Surtidos, and 2 tequila shots. Total was 102.26 without the tax or tip. Expensive? Yes, but you are in Old Town which is a tourist "trap." The waitress was efficient and friendly. Safety protocols for COVID were in place. Food was good even though it is over priced. I am a local, I would recommend this place for a tourist...just prepare to pay a lot.

outstanding food, hard to choose from the great menu choices. Our waiter was great, personable and gave great service.

My first time here and it was fabulous our handsome server Sam made it even better. The margaritas were flavorful and full of tequila. Our food varied from Pork to chicken to veggies. Dynamic menu

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in San Diego. They have a wonderful patio with a fountain. Their margaritas are tasty. Their mole dishes are delicious.

A very colorful and authenic Mexican restaurant is delivered by Casa Guadalahare in San Diego. While traveling to San Diedo during the pandemic it was hard to find a good dining location. We passed this busy restaurant on the way to our hotel. After check-in we headed back to this restaurant. They had converted part of their parking to a full service dining room. It was very well done. The service was outstanding, like they really appreciated our business. Then, of course, is the food. It was authentic Mexican. The steak fajitas were awesome as was the Shrimp Cocktail. A few Margaritas and some great food in a well done parking lot dining room was the perfect end to a day in San Diego.

It takes a little while to get seated as the place is really busy. You can wait your turn while visiting so shops right next door. Beautiful restaurant and great food. Waiter was super cool. No mariachis yet because of COVID.

This restaurant has been here a long time and has tons of indoor/outdoor seating. parking can be tight and reservations are highly recommended as many large groups of people frequent this restaurant. Located on the edge of Old Town San Deigo, they have an extensive Mexican menu and great service.

Great spot! Patio dining under a beautiful tree. Very authentic, the dishes were very colorful. You can see the flavor and freshness. Highly recommend.

Tasty shrimp and mango salad coupled with a marvelous margarita. No skipping on the flavor or the alcohol.

Casa Guadalajara is one of the many popular Mexican restaurants near the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. We chose this place mainly for the large outdoor seating area as we visited in the midst of the Omicron variant of Covid spreading. The service was a bit slow but the staff were super friendly. I was worried that this place was a bit of a tourist trap but the quality of food was great. While there are scores of great Mexican restaurants in San Diego, this place has one of the better atmospheres.

Delicious, big portions, short wait. Unobtrusive great service, beautiful interior. Recommend to anyone who loves Mexican cuisine!

Busy, busy, busy but that gives you a clue as to how good they are! We didn't wait to long for a table but the wait was certainly worth it. The shrimp fajitas were delicious and the margarita was tasty and strong.

Great location in Old Town San Diego. Loved the atmosphere, feels like you are in Mexico. Food was good, but I personally prefer spicy dishes and had to add hot sauce to everything. Did have one issue. We wanted to sit in the Cantina to take advantage of Happy Hour. The reception said ," no happy hour tonight" and sat us in the dining room. They should update their website if this is not available every night as listed. We were disappointed.

We had a wonderful meal here. We sat on the outside patio, which is lovely and surrounded by plants and flowers. We enjoyed the fajitas, Mexican soup and churros and ice cream for dessert. All food was fresh and hot and delicious. Service was excellent.

It is a San Diego landmark at a new location in Old Town. It had been a few years since our last visit. Staff friendly and efficient. Our table was across the bar area, so a little noisy. They have patio dining. Our food was okay for basic Mexican dishes. My husband enjoyed his chicken fajitas. My enchilada plate lukewarm. We will probably be back. $$

This place is awesome. In San Diego for a few days. Happy to have found this place on our first day. Food and atmosphere were a 10. In fact we went back on our last day.

Our family dined here a few days before Christmas after attending a holiday ballet performance. We were seated on the outdoor patio (which we prefer) at a nice large round table next to a lovely mural. It was very cozy with the heaters! We were a party of seven (including one toddler). The drinks, food and service were excellent! My husband and I shared the enchilada suizas plate and I was singularly impressed with the topping of sliced nopalitos! What a special treat! Delicious! We also enjoyed the mariachi music, which along with the colorful decor, adds to the festive atmosphere of the restaurant. Our server, Juan G., was very polite & proficient!

The first time that I ate at this restaurant I was completely impressed with the restaurant, staff, and the quality of the food. The following year I still enjoyed it enough to decide to return. This year I was very disappointed with the food. I was very disappointed how badly they strived away from a Mexican burrito. They added French fries and sour cream; what were they thinking???? Couldn’t they just use real potatoes and salsa? It’s a Mexican restaurant, at least, that’s what they advertised. It’s not a real California burrito either. So, unfortunately, this is my last time eating at this restaurant. It’s supposed to be Mexican food. A Mexican restaurant. If they are catering to Europeans, then don’t advertise as a Mexican restaurant. But thank you for the first two visits.

From the patio to the look of a hacienda with colorful lights hanging from the ceiling, this place is like being at a big party! We ordered the big platter (we split it) so that we could try a lot of things. The chicken taco and guacamole were excellent, the rice and beans were good, and the beef taco was tasty, but the taco shell is pretty hard and the shredded beef is a bit difficult to bite through. Would absolutely visit again next year when we are back in San Diego.

We arrived at 4:30 and still had to wait for almost 30” to be seated. Food service was friendly and prompt once we were seated and they have a gluten free menu. Ordered grilled fish tacos gf which was more food that I could eat. I would recommend you order guacamole for them as they came with no sauce. Might have been an oversight as they would have been dry otherwise. There were two women making fresh tortillas in view for those who wanted to watch.

Select the outdoor plaza. Birds are there among your Mexican feast. We always select one of the fajita.

This restaurant located in Old Town has been around for years. Love that it is close to Bazaar Del Munro, one of the best shopping sites for authentic and beautiful Mexican wares. The margaritas are good and street tacos were delicious but chips a bit on the stale side. The Happy Hour was a good value and they do serve with some complimentary food. Rating it very good mostly because the ambiance and decor is great!

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in San Diego. Lovely atmosphere with vibrant Mexican decor. Great food and service and we love the mariachi band...though it hasn’t been there the last couple of times we visited...maybe due to Covid? Anyway...the only Mexican restaurant we go to when we visit San Diego!!

I was so disappointed in the Tostada de Jalisco. The tostada shell was soggy from the toppings and really not much of a salad. The beans were soupy and the seasoning on the shredded beef was blah. Would not order it again. The same goes for the Shrimp and Avocado crisp Special. Nothing crispy in it. Beans were soupy. It looked like stew. Would not order again. We are great fans of Diana’s Powers Casa de Bandini and was very disappointed in our lunch. The positives are that the ambience was nice and our waiter was great

Great food, excellent service and beautiful atmosphere. They were very busy but we only waited about 15 minutes for a table on the beautiful patio. We asked for a spot in the shade and they were very accommodating. We didn’t want for anything; service was immediate and friendly. The food and drinks were excellent. As soon as you walk in you can smell the homemade tortilla. Highly recommended!

We stopped for lunch based on the reviews and we seated outside promptly. We were quickly given some tasty salsa and chips. I ordered their traditional margarita ($12) which was truly awful as it is made from a mix vs fresh lime juice. To get a decent margarita made with fresh lime juice you are paying $17! That is more than NYC!! When I complained our waitress promptly let me choose a better margarita and removed the other from my bill. Their portions looked large so we shared their Mexican salad. Pretty tasteless and could have been so much better if they took the time. All in all we were expecting so much more.

Is an amazing place to have mexican food. Great variety of plates. Excellent atmosphere and a very friendly staff.

The food here is absolutely amazing!! We both had the crispy shrimp and mango tacos and they didn't disappoint. The 32oz margaritas were ok but had hardly any alcohol in them so I would recommend one of their premium ones instead.

This was one of the best restaurants I had been to on my San Diego trip. They had innovative takes on traditional Mexican dishes with huge portions. I had the enchilada de guacamole and it was great. Definitely want to come back here when visiting old town San Diego. It’s a huge restaurant with great atmosphere and decorations and close proximity to the shops. The margaritas were also 17oz for less than $10! I appreciated the cheap price.

Casa Guadalajara is always good. Proprietor Dianne Powers keeps the place festive, with a lively decor and a creative menu. It's one of the better Mexican restaurants in San Diego, a city with lots of good Mexican food. But make a point of going during the holidays, when they feature special dishes not available the rest of the year. Especially try the crema de elote soup and the turkey mole tamales.

Greeting was nice. Atmosphere superb with a great live band. Food plentiful. Service poor. Good value for money.

First time here and was quite impressed with the atmosphere and decor. The food tasted authentic and the server was very accommodating. The burrito was flavorful and the pork carnitas were plentiful. Would definitely return next time in San Diego

First time here. Place is large and authentic looking. Service was prompt and great. Food came FAST and all our dishes were excellent and large portions. Prices were fair to cheap and we will return for sure!

This restaurant looked very pretty and we wete hungry by the time we had walked around old town. The food was fairly good, certainly plenty of it. Didnt find the staff particularly friendly. It was nice enough, no need to return. The wine was nice and as i say it was certainly a cute looking place.

The food here at Casa Guadalajara is exceptionally good - from the chips & salsa to their main entrees. I had the Chili Rellanos and beef taco - EXCELLENT! The beef taco was savory and packed with flavors, the rellano was very flavorful with lots of cheese & sauce. I recommend this place highly. Heading there next week.

We have eaten here in the past and have enjoyed our meals here. Our most recent visit was no exception. My wife had the chicken enchiladas with chile verde sauce and I had the beef and cheese enchiladas with red sauce. We also enjoyed the spicy cucumber and chile margaritas - tasty and a bit spicy. As always this restaurant was busy but the service was efficient and we enjoyed the overall experience. If you want to dine in Old Town, we recommend this restaurant.

To think and see that management is actually the ones that are rude, unethical, racist, downgrading their employees, have no empathy and have completeley disregard towards their employees. Last Saturday this is exactly what I witnessed from a so called Manager Julie. She treated her employees like trash, right infront of the employee's family that were eating at the restaurant! She is in the wroong business. She should not have the position she has, she is NOT a people person. I was sickened to see this type of behavior when I was trying to enjoy a nice dinner. Great staff, great bartenders great food

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel, so we assume others have had better experiences. Service was slow and sparse. My vegetables were cold and the chicken was dry. My companion enjoyed their quesadilla. Mariachi music was enjoyable.

Since I am a Vegetarian, the chef Cooked amazing Green Burrito for me and was "Mucho Deliciosos" Gracias.

Had a great meal !! Service was fast and friendly!! My drink was delicious and huge!! Meal was delicious!! We arrived on a Monday evening around 5:30 pm we were seated immediately no wait!! The restaurant sidtseem to be getting busier as we left! So my tip would be to arrive early to beat the crowd!

After a morning on LaJolla Beach we wanted to experience a quality Mexican lunch in Old Town. The reviews were so strong for this place so we went with rather high expectations. I must say they were all met and exceeded. The patio area is perfect for a meal. Atmosphere is festive. Chips were wonderful and salsa above average. The creamy Jalepeno queso was exceptional. Our entrees were plenteous and delicious with presentation detail well above average. This place cares about quality and it shows. If I lived here I'd be here often!!!

We stopped by here after a day exploring San Diego at around 8:45pm for dinner. The kitchen closes at 9pm but the hostess got us a table and assured us they would get our order out. They did, and the food was great! Our server was lovely and the decor/atmosphere was wonderful. We will definitely be back!!

Delicious, authentic Mexican food. The Molé sauce tasted like Abuela made it in her kitchen. Portions are huge and the margaritas are on point!

We treated a dear friend visiting San Diego for the first time to Mexican food. Casa Guadalajara was my first choice. There's nothing so delightful as watching a Briton taste "iced" tea (unsweet, of course) for the first time ever, carne asada tacos, and hear the mariachis. He was sending video of the whole thing back home to his kids. Parking can be a challenge, but the dining experience is great. And living in San Diego, I still recommend frequent visits. Year round fun.

We were looking for a place to eat in the Old Town area, and the front desk clerk at our hotel mentioned some place and gave us a coupon for it. A random customer in the lobby came over to our group and told us she had lived in San Diego for many years and the place we should go eat was Casa Guadalajara. She was not wrong - it was so good! The decor is bright and festive and the menu was extensive without being overwhelming. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer and it was a huge portion and was delicious. The lady in the hotel had warned us that the portions were very large so we split two entrees between three of us - cochinita pibíl and tequila lime shrimp (which our server said was their speciality.) It was the perfect amount of food and all was very fresh and tasty. We talked about going back again, it was that good.

First of all, watch your bill. Went with co-workers for a celebration. Some of us paid with credit card and some cash. All the credit cards were charge twice, one with tip and one without. Called my bank and was told to see if I could work out with establishment. The manager blamed the bank....funny that several banks made the same mistake. In fact, I called the same day and the manager asked me if I had called the day before, so apparently it is an on going issue.. I filed a dispute with my bank and got the credit. The food was OK, typical Mexican/American tourist food.

What makes a business turn down clients while the place is packed. Arrived 20:55, they were busy with leaving clients, at 20:58 they simply say no you can’t have dinner, we close at 21:00… with this attitude towards customers you’ll doubt the service of this place. Luckily we were forced to visit their neighbors, we had a great dinner there!

Casa Guadalajara was recommended to us by two different locals we encountered and we are so glad we ate there. Our server, Joel, was fantastic and took great care of us. The food was fresh, authentic and delicious.

We had truly delicious authentic Mexican dishes at this gem of a restaurant in Old Town San Diego, and the portions were super generous. Gracias!

The chips are some of the best tasting we have had. The salsa is good. I wanted to sor on the patio but it was full. We ate inside and it is nicely decorated. My son had the shrimp tacos with mango salsa and he thought they were the best hes ever had. My husband had the enchilada trio. His favorite was the chicken one with a creamy jalapeno sauce. I had a cheese enchillada and chili relleno. Here's the deal the plate is covered and beautifully decorated with vibrate colors and cilantro. They put enchilada sauce over pretty much the whole plate. It was so yummy and tasty. This was not the fastest service we have had but we were not in a hurry and we enjoyed having some down time after being on the road all morning. This is walkable from Old Town. They have their own shops right next door to their restaurant. We did not eat any more food that day. We were so full.

To the tall Mexican waiter with the tinted glasses (did not catch your name) working the patio around 2pm on 11/9/23. You got a poor tip (we should have stiffed you) because you treated us like we were poor, that we did not have enough money to eat there, and provided extremely poor service. Just because we are jeans and tshirt type folks, and my hair being messed from the wind does not mean we do not have money. You had tried to tuck us away in the corner right around the entrance gate, out of sight, distancing us from others in the restaurant. Then being offended when we requested to be moved closer to others more towards the middle of the space, amongst the overall atmosphere of the patio. After taking our order (which took you a while), others delivered our plates, other servers checked on us, and other servers cleared our plates, as you deemed your other tables more important. We could barely get you to come back to deliver our ticket, and for you to take our payment. Our interactions with the other servers were pleasant and friendly. I think they recognized what was happening. We had been looking forward to an authentic mexican restaurant experience, and based on other ratings we saw, this was the establishment we chose. The experience with this particular server would be enough for us not to return, and set a sour tone for the whole experience.

Four of us ate a late lunch at 2PM on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Comfortable and festive decor inside the restaurant. All four of us enjoyed our meals: grilled fish tacos with tropical salsa, chicken flautas, Thursday special of grilled mahi-mahi fish and seafood enchiladas. Good service. Glad neighbors back home in Texas recommended Casa Guadalajara.

The food was incredible and so was the atmosphere. The enchilada trio is what I ordered and it was very filling. I Lots of good choices on the menu.

Great place!! Great food, very large and generous meals , amazing and special atmosphere Defenetly recommend!!!!

We ate here as a family during our visit to Old Town and am so glad we did. Terrific atmosphere, service and food. Portions were huge and unfortunately couldn’t bring home due to hotel but delicious. Definitely visit if you are in the area!

Loved Bianca, the menu, the food, the vibe, the spicy margarita. Place had a great hubbub; busy not crazy. Food came quickly.

We had two lunches and one dinner here all on weekends. Both lunches were great. The place was crowded but we didn't have a long wait. Dinner was a different scene. We reached at 7.30 pm and were asked to join the waitlist . We had a wait time of 45 minutes but after around 30 minutes we received a message on our phone that the table was ready. The area we along with some other people were made to sit was next to some store room and lacked ambience. That did not affect the service and food quality. Our server was very friendly patient and ever smiling. All the three times , the food was great and tasted authentic. Tip: We were told that there are no reservations. Reach early for dinner or call up and check if you can join the waitlist.

How about - zero stars? Why? Because we could not get anyone to serve us. This restaurant is on the outskirts of Old Town. If you shop in the Bazaar Del Mundo shops, you get a punch card that results in merchandise discounts, plus you get a coupon good for a free entre when purchasing an entree. We've spent loads of money at Bazaar De Mundo - nice stuff, if a bit overpriced - so we finally decided to use our BOGO (basically a buy one, get one) coupon at the restaurant. We walked in - the place was crowded, hectic - not very welcoming. We were told that the wait was 15 minutes - not too bad, but we noticed that the bar had plenty of seats. So, we sat down at the bar. But - no "welcome" or "good evening" or anything even remotely warm and fuzzy - instead, the bartender simply looks at his watch and says, "five minutes left in happy hour." Which didn't make sense - it was 6:05, with happy hour ending at 6:00 - so I guess he couldn't tell time, maybe? But - we could have cared less about happy hour - that's not why we were there. So what happens next? Two ladies sat down next to us, at the same time, and the bartender immediately turns his attention to them - ignoring us. Five minutes go by - ten minutes go by - nothing, nada, zip, zilch. No service - nothing. Not any further acknowledgement of our existence. But the other two ladies - well, of course, they get served. So, knowing that there are numerous options in short walking distance from this place, we gathered our belongings and walked out. And no one said a word - nothing. I guess we are invisible. Let me make this clear - we have spent a TON of money in the Bazaar. Which - pun fully intended - makes our experience at Casa G truly BAZAAR. We will NEVER return - there are simply too many options. As for anyone reading this review - well, beware the lure of the "One Free Entre" coupon. They more than make up the difference in the drink prices ($16 and up for a small drink), and good luck getting service. We plan to speak directly with the shop owner about our experience - and we will note that this story has a happy ending. We walked a short distance to Casa de Reyes, and were seated immediately, and received excellent, prompt, courteous service, along with good food and drink. Wound up spending a fair amout at the restaurant, in fact. So - shame on Casa Guadalujara. Folks, there are at least 10 other restaurants within short walking distance. Give them a try before tempting fate at CG.

Love this restaurant in old San Diego. Have been here on a number of occasions and always enjoy a visit. Service was good and food was tasting. Not cheap but nothing is these days. Definitely worth a visit if you're in San Diego.

Went here with my wife and my 2.5 year old. She ordered the tostada, I went ahead with the Carne steak plate and we ordered a kids plate with milk for the little one. First let me say, they have everything. Front the milk, to fresh tortillas to Jamaica. The ambiance is fantastic, their mariachi band making their rounds, festive decorations complimenting the nicely dressed guys and gals who are the servers. My advice, don't stuff yourselves with the chips and salsa. Their food portions are generous. Everything that was brought to our table was fresh. I don't drink but did hear the next door table say their margaritas were good as well. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth "pun intended" was the tostada itself. Let me be clear, the content in it was delicious, if anything just needed lemon juice. But the tostada itself was rather bland and flavor less, almost just decorative.

What a lovely Mexican restaurant! The food es fantastico! Big servings and so tasty! Lovely outdoor patio with a huge shade tree and water fountain.

I went to school in the area and come here out of nostalgia. It's my favorite restaurant in Old Town with the right balance of atmosphere (a little touristy but fun) and tasty Mexican food. We ate lunch on the outdoor patio which was pleasant and we appreciate that it's dog friendly since we were traveling with our fur baby. I always enjoy the combo fajitas and strawberry margaritas, and my husband really liked the conchinita pibil. Always a must visit place when in SD!

We ate here on the recommendation of our hotel. They have their own parking lot, which was nice. The server was very friendly and was on top of everything. The portion sizes were huge! I had fish tacos, my husband had a burrito and we shared an appetizer of guacamole. We could've easily shared an entree and been satisfied. The food was plated nicely and was very appealing to look at. We were able to sit outside since they had space heaters and it was a very pleasant experience in their patio area.

Casa Guadalajara in old town San Diego is a delight. It is a large restaurant with very good mexican food. The Nahi Nahi Tacos are very fresh and the other cussines are wondrful as well. They have live Mariaci music and it provides a festive atmosphere. I have reurned several times and I have not been disappointed. We had pescatarians and vegitarians and they were well pleased with the selction and quality of the food.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this popular OldTowne Mexican restaurant. We were seated promptly and I stopped by to watch them make the tortillas while we waited for our dinner. They do them one at a time, rolling them out with a small rolling pin and browning them on the griddle. They come out light, puffy and really tasty. My steak fajitas were beautifully presented, a good size serving and delicious with those of so perfect tortillas! The only suggestion would be a larger serving of salsa with the complimentary chips. Lots of locals enjoying the lively atmosphere was a good sign. .We should have come back here for seconds instead of trying another 4 star Old Towne restaurant, Barra Barra which was terrible

Mexican restaurant near our hotel located right in the old town. Very large with many indoor and outdoor rooms under umbrellas that seem to be on the beach. Waiters with typical clothes all colorful and embroidered move between the busy tables and always attentive. Very wide menu, with many types of cooktails prepared by a barman with good hair would seem novice. Good food and fast service despite the place being full. Normal prices not too high compared to the competition. Good draft beer. Ample free parking

Lunch at this restaurant was very good. The extensive menu assured everyone in my party had a good meal choice.

This is a great Mexican restaurant in Old Town San Diego. Great ambiance with live Mariachi music. Huge drinks. Very reasonably priced and fast service.

This restaurant was incredible! The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was delicious, the decor was beautiful, and I really enjoyed the live music. The service was great too. And my favorite part is that we were not rushed through our meal and were given the freedom to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere they created. We loved it here!

I would say a bit over rated for the quality of food The tortillas were YUMMY :) would order them again and this time add butter

We went with another couple on a Saturday night. We were very surprised that despite a medium line we were seated within 5 mins. The ambiance is very california/mexican which is exactly what we were hoping for. We were seved by a very nice young lady named Veronica and she took very good care of us. In fact not if, but when we go back, we will ask to sit in her section ! We had the shrimp tacos, an enchilada dish and the tequila lime shrimp dish which was to die for ! Serving sizes are very big and the food was all delicious ! We really enjoyed the prompt service, local hospitality and friendliness of our server Veronica ! T Y : ]

On New Year's Day 2020, I returned to San Diego and Casa Guadalajara after approximately 30 years. The restaurant is conveniently located in Old Town where Interstate 5 and 8 intersect. The weather was fantastic so I decided to dine on the beautiful patio. I enjoyed a Jalisco salad with a dark beer. My meal was delicious, excellent service, the patio lovely, and the price reasonable.

Typical enchiladas, tamales, found all over southern and western states. Our waiter was surly and never checked back to see if we needed anything and never refilled our beverages. We went to this restaurant because it was recommended by our hotel. Would not go back.

With so many Mexican restaurants in this area its tough to make a choice. We chose this one on a local recommendation and were not disappointed. Very good food for all 4 of us. I guess it was authentic mexican but even if not it was very good. Service was great and the atmosphere was very nice.Would recommend this to everyone.

We came here with our daughter in mid-March on a Sunday for breakfast for the first time since CA re-opened on 1/25/21. It was wonderful! The tables are spaced out well and there are several large trees with plenty of shade.

We went to this restaurant based on a recommendation, it was just ok. I've had better authentic Mexican food in North Carolina

The food was only decent but the server Ricardo was a condescending rude waiter. I spent a total of $130 there only to get service that is less than if I would have went to McDonald's. Never never again will I patronize this establishment. The only good experience out of this place was before we were seated , we went to the bar and the bartender was great. Wish we would have eaten at the bar if that was allowed.

You will eat great food at a fair price. Portions are big, so don't over-order. If you want to sip on your margarita and pace yourself, don't order your food right away, it comes out quickly. The service is slow and you seemed to be served by everyone, but the the overall experience is still excellent. Highly recommended; family friendly!

This place is something of a San Diego legend, and we've been a few times over the years. This past week, the food didn't measure up to my childhood memories. Maybe it was the Monday night factor, yet our meals were definitely "meh". Service was still delightful. Floors were not very clean...slippery from fats/oils spilled over time.

Food: Chicken tortilla soup- perfect, simply perfect. Fantastic broth, lots of pulled white meat chicken, good tortilla strips. Beef fajitas: nice portion but flavor was dull. Vegetables with the beef fajitas were fresh and tasty. Drinks: Stone IPA on draft was perfect for a sunny lunch. Service: Hit and miss. The servers working the patio had too many tables. So at times service was lacking. Ambiance: festive Mexico hacienda. Overall cleanliness: average Bathroom cleanliness: average

I love this restaurant! Hands down the BEST homemade flour tortillas in the world! I've been coming here for years and it's always great. Giant margaritas in many flavors at a very reasonable price, and lots of menu options! I had a Pepita Mole that was out of this world! And try the coconut margarita, tastes like summer in a drink! Attentive staff, and beautiful outdoor patio.

We arrived from the airport and needed a Mexican food fix pronto! Casa Guadalajara has traditionally had outstanding food and we were not disappointed. The food isn't the cheapest, but you will receive the best examples of Mexican food and the tastiest margaritas in Old Town.

The restaurant was very noisy so we asked for outside seating. We were given a large table at the edge of the parking lot. The service was okay, the food was okay, the bill was large. Also we were given a huge baskets of tortilla chips, which just ended up wasted.

We bring every out of town guests. Choices are numerous and always top quality. Cheap delivers high quality and top level service teams.

My friend and I enjoyed dinner on July 19, 2020. We dined outside due to Covid 19. She had the Grilled Chicken and Mango Quesadilla, a very tasty blend of flavors fills a handmade flour tortilla. Served with jalapeno cream sauce. I had the a crispy flour tortilla covered with refried beans, your choice of chile colorado, shredded chicken or beef and topped with melted cheese, sliced avocados, tomato, guacamole and sour cream. Excellent service and drinks.

Been going here for years. Food was good as it always is. This time however the service was deplorable. Order was taken, drinks were served quickly, chips & salsa arrived 10 minutes without guacamole as ordered. Chips were broken & unusable for dipping. About 5 more minutes go by I ask for better chips & where is the guacamole. Ten minutes & they both arrive. Server spills a drink on my pants. Food arrives, so now I have appetizers dinner and no drink. I leave a 10 percent tip in cash & get the most insulting look from the server. Now I ask what is the purpose of a tip?

Popped in after touring Old Town, hungrier than any day before on the trip. Still couldn’t finish the enormous portions of burrito, enchiladas and chimichangas before us. Food was hot, fresh and quick to table. Service was average, but I’m beginning to see a trend out here in Cali- either I expect too much or the service quality these days just doesn’t seem all that good. Would recommend this place for the good for sure. We sat outside under the “covid” tent in the parking lot and it was great.

Best mexican food we’ve ever had! Delicious nachos and prime margarita!! Prices are affordable and there was a mexican guy playing live music! Great atmosphere!

The food was good and the presentation was excellent. The guacamole was very good, but the chips weren't my favorites. The girl who served me was acceptable, but seemed in a hurry. To be fair, the restaurant was pretty busy. I would give the whole experience a "B".

Great, lively, colorful atmosphere. Quality service. Excellent Cadillac margarita. Delicious food. Free, easy parking. It was a memorable dinner!

A hotel worker recommended Casa Guadalajara for drinks while I waited for my room. I walked over and gave them a try. I was not disappointed at all. The guest service was very nice—attentive but not overly so. The portions were larger than I expected, and the food was delicious. I opted for the quesadilla and iced tea for lunch since it was too warm for alcohol. The only thing missing was a good hot sauce, but a polite request delivered a delicious, spicy option but not deadly hot. I also went the next evening for dinner and opted for the enchiladas, which were also delicious and large enough that I could barely finish three. This was the bright spot of my stay in Old Town San Diego, and I highly recommend giving it a try.

Mediocre Mexican food. Place is packed with people with small kids and babies. Very noisy and tables placed very close together

We came here as tourists from Australia visiting local friends. This is a favourite of theirs, so you know it must be good when the locals go. It was incredibly busy, so lucky they had booked. Great staff, attentive and friendly. Some live music now and then serenading tables, which I don't mind, as long as they don't come to my table! It did get a bit loud at times. The food was great, huge serves, authentic flavours and so much choice on the menu.

We stopped here with another couple for dinner. We were seated outside on a nice evening. They were very busy so the service was a little slow, but it was worth the wait. We each really loved our food selections. The salsa was one of the best we have ever had. The Margaritas were very tasty. The wait staff was very friendly. We will return again.

I could not recommend this place. It is old, dirty and the chips taste like Fritos. The margarita is totally watered down and has more ice than anything else; our waiter’s recommendation was Fajitas!! I was hoping for some good authentic Mexican food that I couldn’t get elsewhere. My husband wants to stay as he is starving, otherwise I would walk out. Nope. Don’t waste your $$.

we went because we want to try this restaurant ,and they were busy ,but when they brought the order it was terrible my husband had order shrimp cocktail and there was only shrimp and ketchup this people think they only serve white people and dont know what they are eating .

The service here is rushed and hurried and the waiters are gruff. My fish tacos arrived and they reeked of a fishy odor. I could even smell them before they landed onto our table. I took only one bite and they were not fresh. I had a chile relleno on my plate & it was soggy and unimpressive! There was also a chicken enchilada Suiza on my plate & I didn’t even try it, because I was so over this meal. The beans were bland and I don’t remember the rice. As I finished my meal, the waiter came to our table and asked me to hand my plate to him from across the table, while my friends were still eating. So, I passed a dirty plate over my friends plate, as he was trying to finish his dinner. One of my friends asked if she could take part of her meal home with her and the waiter simply brought her a to go container and he didn’t offer to package it for her. Is this not a full-service restaurant? She wasn’t even given a bag to put it in. This is definitely not a repeat restaurant. I don’t understand why it was so crowded. Maybe they developed a good reputation a long time ago and they’re merely resting on their laurels now. This was my first time here & I’m “One & Done!”

Very delicious food! All staff were very accommodating! We felt very comfortable. Prices absolutely reasonable and not overpriced!

Service was fast, efficient and friendly. Food was just okay. Shrimp fajitas were excellent but husbands carne and other son burrito Guadalajara were meh. Disappointed but n home made tortillas have eaten them often elsewhere both flour and corn. I e cream was delicious.

I've been here dozens of times over the past couple of decades and this time was no different than the others. This restaurant is consistently excellent. It's a large menu and the food quality and fresh preparation is top notch. You can literally watch workers hand making tortillas when you walk in (something interesting to do while waiting for your table). The food and drinks taste amazing every time. Warning: Because it is such a popular restaurant, there is often a long wait to be seated, but their estimated wait times are usually pretty accurate or slightly overstated (e.g., they told us 40 minutes and it took 32 mins). They will text you when the table is ready so you are able to walk next door to Bazaar del Mundo to explore the colorful shops while you wait or go to one of their 2 bars inside the restaurant instead of just sitting or standing around near the door. The restaurant is vibrantly decorated and there is a mariachi band. The band will play a few songs and then either move inside/outside or take a break. They will also take requests -- I asked the waiter to ask them to play feliz cumpleanos (happy birthday) for my child; at the end of their set, they walked over to our table and played it and we tipped them. Overall, it is a great restaurant for any occasion. And while the parking lot on the premises is small, there is free parking in the CalTrans parking lot directly across the street during non-work hours (nights & weekends).

My family loved this place! Every aspect of the evening was perfect. The locatin Old Town makes it easy to find. The decor and atmosphere are amazing and authentic. The waiter was helpful and energetic and engaging. The food of course was the highlight. Every dish was magnificent. We will definitely return every time we come to San Diego.

Casa Guadalajara, located in Old Town San Diego, serves up delicious Mexican-American food in an authentic hacienda. Portions are huge, service is rapid and efficient and prices are reasonable.

What can I say; this is the real deal. We love Old Town! The food is authentic home made, a rarity for any city, and they have parking. Just scrumptious.

We sat in the Garden Room; this was our first time there. I had the Carne Asada Burrito and my husband had the combination plate of a taco, tamale, and an enchilada. They were delicious, and the salsa for the chips had minor heat, but had a unique citrus flavor. We had the vanilla ice cream with whip cream on top of a baked corn tortilla for dessert.

Casa Guadalajara has the best margaritas in all of Old Town! The food is great and service is even better. I recommend stopping here if you’re in town!

This place is fantastic! The customer service is spot on. The outdoor patio is a delight to have lunch in. There are umbrellas over four seater tables. It is there’s a nice cool breeze coming in with nice house plants and a big tree in the middle. There are amazing gluten-free options. I did not feel like I was missing out on anything. We will gladly come here again.
Nice Dinner on the Patio
We enjoyed our dinner on the festive outside patio at Casa Guadalajara. We started with delicious Cadillac Margaritas and the chips and guac. My daughter and I both had the enchilada trio, and my husband had one of the combination plates. The portions were very large and tasty. While I've eaten at better Mexican restaurants, it's a nice choice in Old Town San Diego.
