Excellent location. Outdoor Table beside the River Walk. The food was delicious. Very short wait time. All the staff were kind and helpful. Highly recommend. Would eat here again.

Pretty good value and a good view of the river. The deluxe dinner was not expensive and it was a good selection. Flavours were ok- nothing amazing. Nice spot though.

We have been here a few times but this time was packed. Pretty long wait as it was spring break time. Felt like the staff worked more with the bigger parties instead of the small ones like ours.

Service was not good, food was probably the worst Mexican food we’ve ever had. We thought it being advertised as the oldest and first restaurant back on the Riverwalk and they purposely mention it on the River cruise it was going to be good, the fajitas were served cold. Awful experience.

The food was good but the atmosphere seems really busy (we were sat inside). It was good Mexican food but not the best that we had in San Antonio. This is more or less the place you go to for the views not the food.

One of those places that you have to visit to say you've been there. It is the oldest restaurant on the Riverwalk. Good service, may have to wait a while during busy times.

Decided to have an early dinner after checking into our hotel. Picked casa rio because there were several tables along the river. Wasn’t expecting much from the reviews so was pleasantly surprised. Chips were tasty and crispy. Salsa tasty and fresh. Margaritas good and just enough punch to relax you. Husband’s shrimp tacos were good but he wasn’t very impressed. My cheese enchiladas and guacamole were above average and I am picky about my enchiladas. Service prompt and friendly. Took off a star for cleanliness. Pigeons everywhere and while I know they cannot control this, we watched the table next to us become covered to the point of pigeons knocking over glasses when the people left. It wasn’t appetizing looking at the free for all, so we requested the table be bussed. Girl begrudgingly cleared the table but only took a used napkin and ran it lightly over the table. I kept expecting her to come back and spray it down with something but she didn’t. They seated the next party at this table that had been covered with food and pigeons without being properly cleaned. We enjoyed the meal and drinks enough to come back but will definitely bring wipes for the table next time.

This is a great traditional Mexican restaurant on the Riverwalk with authentic food local cuisine. The seating area out on the river looked very nice, but we were there on one of the hottest days of the year, so we opted to eat indoors with their air conditioning. It’s an old restaurant (dating back to the 1940s), so it’s not your typical modern restaurant. However, I liked the old school vibes and colorful setting. The food was very authentic, and everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. I had the green chicken enchiladas, which were great. The margaritas were very tasty. Our server was very helpful and friendly. Pricing was very reasonable, and we got a great meal for a good deal. Check Casa Rio out, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Excellent food with an awesome table right on the river. Victoria did a wonderful job as our server. I had two flour chicken tacos, and they were huge! My wife had the enchiladas, which were also very large and delicious.

Stopped in for dinner on our last night in San Antonio. Service was a little slow and food was just okay. Waitress was very nice and personable

We were told it is one of the oldest and friendliest restaurants on the river walk That is correct Seating was easy no wait time Service was impeccable Do your self a favour go there

I live in the DC area where we have countless Latino owned restaurants. All my go to's there have considerably better food than here. Our server was friendly and views are nice but the food was average and service a little slow.

I’m surprised this is not on top 10! The service was excellent. This place has so much history. The location Riverwalk with a river view makes it a perfect place to eat. Very nice environment. The food was “Delicioso”. My plate “El Rio” plate and Mangolada drink, OMG “DELICIOSO”! Highly recommend. Gracias! Overall: Two Thumbs Up!

This place has great food and the salsa and chips are delicious! We were on vacation and ate lunch there twice as it was so good. Their chili was amazing as well as their chicken and beef quesadillas!

What a delightful spot to enjoy a delicious lunch under a bright umbrella while watching the boats go by. Despite how busy it was, we only waited a few minutes for a riverside table. Our server was attentive and happy to answer our questions about the menu options. I ordered the taco salad which was more than ample and delicious. My husband ordered their staple combination platter, a large portion of rice, beans, a tamale, and chili that went well with an ice-cold beer! Ducks swam in the river by our table. I would recommend it to family and friends!

My title is one of the only things I remember from Spanish class!! I took it for 5 grades but I don’t remember a lot of it because of getting old and forgetting things even though I’m 22 now!! I went here on my first day in San Antonio and the night before I was at a Wu tang show at MSG!! I got the Al pastor tacos and a watermelon agua Fresca!! They were both very good and I enjoyed them!!

Every time we visit San Antonio, we eat here. After the last visit, I think we're done with Casa Rio. The food is average and always has been. However, the setting is great, especially if you're seated right by the river. We had a 20 minute wait which is not bad. Our waitress was good. I just think there are better Mexican and Tex-Mex options. My daughter had the street tacos which were good. My wife ordered the shrimp fajitas which were nice sized and plentiful, but very bland. I had the pollo asado which was overcooked and chewy

Was told the oldest Mexican restaurant in town. It was good but nothing to write home about. Of coarse everything cost including chips and salsa. Limited options and “no substitutes”, even if they say you can, comes out just like on the menu

Absolutely appalling service! From check in staff to server and manager. We try to reserve more tables for our companion (group of more than 8 to be exact 13) they try to fit us on 2 tables and never allow us to use extra tables and chairs. Our server seemed completely disrespectful, and sarcastic, he grabbed our cards after trying to charge one card when we were trying to split. When we reiterated that it should be a separate payment which we clearly stated upon him taking our orders, he said in a sarcastic manner “that’s why Im asking?!!!” which he didnt ask in the first place. He seemed to make us feel stupid! He is even rude getting other customers food and telling them not to feed the birds saying they are no good. Also the guy in the entrance who reserves table in the outdoor was very rude as well, we felt like we don’t deserve to be treated that way, the restaurant is not even fancy! To make matters worse, the manager seemed completely unbothered by our poor experience, arguing instead of saying 'sorry' and without offering any solution or apology. We will never come back again! Our family just had a vacation all the way from Singapore to enjoy the beauty of San Antonio, unfortunately we felt degraded! The worst service ever making the rest of our group moved to the nearby restaurant The Republic of Texas with excellent service!

We loved the ambience of this place as we were walking along the San Antonio Riverwalk. We had a table right on the water and love the view. Oh, and the food was good too!

Great spot right on the RiverWalk like all of the photos show! Really great service, and the chips/queso was the best I've ever had. We ordered fajitas and chicken enchiladas, both of which were out of this world! Would highly recommend this place. Gluten free options were a huge plus!

WOW what a great mexican restaurant. by far the best restaurant on the riverwalk. it is also iconic as it was the first restaurant on the riverwalk. so a must do. the food was so perfectly hot and delicious. the service was superb. even the birds repect one til one leaves the table. then it is a free for all.

Spectacular view of the river walk Food was good and lots of choices. Service was good, but our server was not friendly at all.

Love this little gem on the riverwalk! Food is always quick and good. Service is always good! Lots of people watching and worth the wait!

My experience was not good with this restaurant. We were there on Spring Break and it was crowded, but that shouldn’t prevent them from serving quality food. We were told we would have a twenty minute wait to get a table on the river and they were able to seat us within ten minutes so that was good. It was all downhill after that. We waited for ten minutes for a waiter to come to our table. I finally flagged down a waiter and asked where ours was. He showed up after that and just happened to be the waiter that was talking casually to the man sitting at the table in front of us for several minutes while his other customers were ignored. We ordered fajitas and waited more than one hour for our food. People who were seated after us at two tables, one behind us and one in front of us, were served their meal before ours arrived. Our waiter rarely came to our table. In fact, when we were able to catch him we asked him several times when our food would arrive (after sitting there for an hour). And he always said five more minutes. Then he never came back. Finally, after two tables who were seated after us were served, my friend went to the kitchen to ask where our food was. It showed up fairly quickly after that. However it did not come out on a skillet sizzling like most fajitas do. The food was cold and terrible. It had obviously been sitting for a while. In our party of four no one ate it. We paid $100 and left hungry. I will never eat at this restaurant again. Worst TexMex ever.

We decided to eat dinner here on 6/26 in San Antonio, TX on the River Walk. Our family group of 9 was unfortunately seated at the far end of the seating area behind a tree. The waitress forget about us and never owned up to it. We only got our food after a busboy stopped by to check on us, quickly there after we were served cold food. It was as if the food had been sitting in the serving window for at least 20 minutes, while the waitress ignored it. We had to ask for the manager to get it resolved on the bill. Thankfully, they gave us a discount on the cold food. Unfortunately, this was not how we wanted to experience Tex-Mex food in San Antonio.

Food was just ok but I wasn’t able to get what I wanted so it was disappointing from the beginning as they were out of taco salad shells. We got our food before we got our drinks and had to remind him. I think he had forgotten. I won’t pick to go back there.

We stopped by here for a quick bite; the food was NOT good. Not the chips or the meal. Tasted stale, not very warm.

I fancied a Mexican while in San Antonio. I wanders along the riverside and came across this place. The staff were pleasant enough but the food took a long time and the soft tacos I ordered where unbelievably bland. I actually left and went to a TacoBell.

Been to the Riverwalk a lot but first time to eat here. Sat immediately, received food, was in and out in 30 min. Food was hot and fresh. Chips and Salsa were fresh.

Good food, really authentic Mexican food. Everything came hot and tasty. Service is good and environment is welcoming and festive

Casa Rio is one of the original restaurants on the San Antonio Riverwalk, and dining here really is part of the experience. The colorful setting right on the river makes it worth stopping in at least once during a visit. We ordered the chicken soft tacos, which were flavorful and well prepared, and the enchilada trio, which was pretty good overall. The standout items were easily the hot salsa and queso—hands down the best part of the meal. The salsa is excellent and honestly should be complimentary. The fresh tortillas and chips were perfectly crisp and fresh. We enjoyed a strawberry margarita, which paired nicely with the food and the Riverwalk atmosphere. While the food isn’t life-changing, the location and history make Casa Rio a classic stop and a fun place to say you’ve dined while visiting San Antonio.

Excellent flavorful flautus and salsa. Excellent service. Our group of 9 was quickly seated at an outside table. The waiter, Ricky, was great.

This is a historic restaurant on the Riverwalk since it is the oldest restaurant on the Riverwalk. We sat under the iconic colorful umbrellas. My husband loved the quesadillas. The food to me tasted like any other Tex-Mex restaurants. We went because it was a historic restaurant! Great service and since we arrived early for dinner we didn’t have to wait to be seated! They give you a choice- Inside verses outside to sit!

We enjoyed margaritas and beer along with guacamole & quest dip. The shrimp tacos with corn salsa are a delight. The El rio platter provided an assortment of good eats. Solid Mexican dishes. We were serenaded by wonderful musicians.

It was fun!! The food is not fun. It is just the atmosphere and history make it worth a stop. It is a very cool place on the river with decent drinks to go along!! And he frozen kind of a must..

During US visit, we visited San Antonio. River walk is superb, nicely developed as the best picnic area. Had a good round with very good scenery & good photos Really wonderful, worth watching. Light effect was very special. River boating is extremely good. Whole atmosphere was charged. Searched this hotel and found out, reserved the table and received the food in time. Delicious food Will visit again

This is the oldest business on the Riverwalk and the history is very interesting. I wish could say the same for the food. While it wasn't inedible, it certainly didn't come up to any Tex-Mex or Mexican food I have had. This place was recommended by several people, including the riverboat tour guide, maybe he gets a kick-back. My husband, who doesn't like hot was pretty happy. I must say that the vegetarian enchilada was delicious. I also had a enchilada with beef. This place charges for chips and salsa (never seen that before). The salsa had absolutely no heat to it. I think they forgot the peppers. The location is beautiful, right on the Riverwalk. We ate inside where the decor was fairly traditional. Our waiter gave excellent service and the Mariachi Band was great.

Deluxe dinner plenty to share. If you don’t like noise and the flow of people on the river walk you can eat inside. Service is fast and good. Seating is first come so there are no advance reservations. Plenty of space when our group of 7 arrived at 5 o’clock.

Those green chili enchiladas are awesome!!! Better than average guacamole. The margarita was very good as well. Nice venue, great service. One member of our party had a bone in his enchilada, the manager comped the meal and insisted on providing a dessert on the house. It was a very large brownie with vanilla ice cream...excellent!!! Mistakes happen whenever humans are involved in something. It's how the management responds to those mistakes is what counts in my opinion. This manager knocked it out of the park.

We decided to check out Casa Rio because it was convenient and it let us sit on the water while we enjoyed dinner. Service was okay. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or what, but it took quite a while for our waiter to get to us initially, and then again at the end of our meal too. The food was mediocre/nothing to write home about. It felt very touristy and bland, not particularly authentic. It was still nice enough, if only because it was lovely to sit on the water and watch the tour boats go by.

This place is one of my favs. Had dinner right along the edge of the Riverwalk under the stars and couldn’t ask for better service.

A friend recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed! We had the burritos and they were some of the best we have had. Our server was Vale, she was very nice and polite, did a great job! The setting was beautiful, by the riverside. Would definitely eat here again!

We were in town and wanted Tex-Mex along the river. Casa Rio has been around a long time and has always been able to provide the fast, easy and fair priced Tex-Mex dishes. The outside tables along the river were full so we asked to be on the list. About ten minutes later a table was ready for us. A house margarita and ice waters came quickly as did the chips and salsa. We order a couple different plate dinners and they were out in around 8-10 minutes. The enchiladas, tacos, tostadas and all were very tasty...definitely hit the spot. Service was friendly and prompt. We will be back for some more tasty Tex-Mex.

Mexican food on the riverwalk. Nothing special or tasty. Taquintos were dry. Service slow and you don't get chips and salsa without having to pay for them. Wasn't impressed at all. So many other better choices on the river front.

Wait time was great, especially on a festival day. Food was great, and they mad music going from table to table singing (for tips). The only reason I gave it a 4 was because they were so swamped and the service kinda lacked, once we got out food… but I wouldn’t let that be a deal breaker to check this place out!

Food was great tasting. The atmosphere was enjoyable. Sitting by river made for a nice lunch. Their salsa and chips were very fresh. We had chicken enchiladas with tomatillos sauce and cheese quesadillas .

I’d skip, food average at best. Our tour guide mentioned it on our river tour, oldest restaurant/family owned on Riverwalk, so we thought we’d try it. Service was good but food wasn’t the best, neither me nor my husband cared for our meal. Had chips and salsa also not the best in our opinion.

From the outside, Casa Rio looks like the definition of a tourist trap. Large tour busses dropping off constantly, a machine like approach to service. And unfortunately, the reality is it does live up to those first impressions. The real positive is the history associated with it and the beautiful setting of the river that you are eating next to. The food is very bland, generic and forgettable. The service is about the same - they are just clearly in a rush to push as many tables through as possible. I’m sure you could make worse choices in the area - but I’m also certain there are many which are significantly better as well.

This place has a lousy service, my husband and I like to try different places in one place an appetizer, in another an entrance and we arrived at dinner at this place casa rio in san Antonio for dinner, we ordered a burger that never arrived more than an hour waiting, the waiter showed us the time when he placed the order were 7:54 pm and when we asked the bill to reach some other place open and dinner it was past 9:20 and the manager did not empathize anything with us for the wait and bad service.

My wife and I had dinner here. Location along the river walk makes for a unique experience. We were seated within the promised time and timely asked for our drink and dinner orders. We ordered nachos and a quesadilla. While we waited, we enjoyed the hustle and bustle around us. However, we also noticed that those coming in after us were receiving their orders in what I consider reasonable time. I asked our waitress for an update, she said she would check and came back to report that the kitchen was backed up a bit (but since others were receiving their orders, the ‘back up’ seemed only to affect us). The waitress then came by with the nachos and said the kitchen was still working in the quesadillas. Based on the not so hot temperature of the nachos and the congealing of the cheese, the order was sitting for a bit. Also, menu says nachos come with guacamole but mine didn’t and so I had to ask for some. The quesadillas finally came out and were of proper temperature. All in all, an ok, but not great, experience.

The reviews tell you not to go but the history of the place makes you think you try it. We started with guacamole and it was tasteless, basically a mashed avocado,no seasoning lime juice ,onion, zippo! The main meals came out fast and they were luke warm at best. Really wanted this place to be better than it was!

I'm not an expert in Mexican cuisine... but this one is not an incredible experience... I couldn't eat my plate (for the first time in my life I think) The look of the dishes resembles dried mash... it may be the type of cuisine but the flagship dish of the house is supposed to be representative of the best Very fast and very touristy service The location is obviously ideal on the Riverwalk

Nice setting on the River, but that’s all. The food was anything but hot, and had absolutely NO taste. We should have checked it on TA before going.

Really good Tex-Mex. The Regular Plate was top notch and covered the entire plate. I really enjoyed the sopapillas because they were the real deal, not the chocolatey, ice-cream capped mess you get in any chain throughout the country.

Great meal and location right on the riverwalk. Price was one of the more affordable on the walk. Will definitely return.

The problem with this restaurant is not location. It is on one of the best spots by the Riverwalk. It's not history. I learned from a Go Rio boat tour that this is the oldest restaurant on the Riverwalk. It is not the service, because I believe they did a pretty good job at it. It has also a great atmosphere. Sadly, it's the food. This was the worst Tex-Mex food spot that we ate at during our week visiting San Antonio. The Guacamole was bland. The chicken in the Green Chicken Enchilada and the Mexican rice had very little to no seasoning. The charro beans were probably the best thing. The burger meat was also dry. I would not return to this restaurant again.

First time visiting the Riverwalk and wanted to eat at this historic restaurant. It was super cold (40 degrees) but we opted to eat outside for the experience. We were serenaded by a Mariachi band and it was beautiful! The food was amazing, probably the best Mexican I have ever had! The setting of the Riverwalk with boat tours going by was so fun. Only downside was lots of pigeons and ducks, but we kept stomping our feet and they left us alone 🤣

Food is meh. Ambiance is meh. The inside feels like my basement. The service is meh. Server sightings are less frequent than Bigfoot sightings. Overall, pretty meh.

We decided to dine at Casa Rio as we wanted to enjoy the iconic riverside dining on the River Walk. We ordered the guacamole and it was fresh and delicious. The free chips and salsa were also very good. Entree was a mixed review as we did not enjoy the tamale as it was very dry but we did enjoy the green chicken enchilada and the chalupa. The margaritas were also very good but jot very strong, which was perfect for us as we are not big drinkers. The prices were also very good and probably the cheapest we saw on the River Walk. Worth a visit!

Loved the riverwalk area. Decided to try this restaurant because it’s the oldest restaurant at this location. However, I was not impressed. Food was mediocre, definitely over rated Mexican food, not impressed. Restaurant does not deviate from menu which is unfortunate. Salsa & service was good though.

Everytime I come to San Antonio and go to the River Walk I go to this restaurant. It has not disappointed me. It's great food for the price, especially to be right on the river walk. The chip salsa is really good. It is always busy as well and I have ate both on the inside and outside. I prefer the inside as I like air conditioning.

The service was horrible, the food had very little taste. Really surprised how bland the food was. The waitress seemed to care very little if we were there. She never came by to see how we were doing. The nachos are a mess. Not enough chips and too much topping. They also charge for the chips and salsa.

On Riverwalk but…kinda tasteless chicken tacos…had to ask for sour cream & salsa. Cheaper pricing but you get what you pay for. Same review for taco salad friend had.

We enjoyed this so much we ate here both nights we were in San Antonio. The chilli is amazing - definitely recommend - that was what made us return. The guacamole was also excellent. The prices are very reasonable and the service quick and friendly. Great location.

Always come here every time I go to San Antonio. Have spent thousands of dollars here each year. However, came tonight and it was terrible. First of all they have now started to charge for chips and salsa. The enchilada and soft tacos are now smaller as well. Plus the prices went up. But the service tonight was abysmal!! We ordered water and didn’t get water til we were almost finished with the food— almost an hour later. We ordered app and specifically said to make sure it came way before the food. The waiter rushed us into ordering food and we said make sure you don’t out it in until the appetizer is out. Then the food came out and no nachos quick were our apps!! Then he blames the kitchen!! No that is him not listening. So sad as this was the one place I came. I guess they value terrible service and charging a couple of dollars for chips and salsa than the thousands I spend on Schier’s I won’t be back until things change. Very disappointed.

The menu was surprisingly affordable for being in a heavy tourist area. Best chips and salsa! And the taco salad was also excellent. The only downside was the service was a little slow because they were very busy. Waters, appetizers and food all came to the table at the same time.

We had lunch at the oldest place on the river. We chose it by accident and were very happy. Both chips and salsa were excellent. Lunch soup and salad were large servings. The soup was very tasty but also very salty. We would make a point to eat here again.

Fast and pleasant Service. Generous quantity, very good quality without being exceptional. The location is nice The bill is a little higher but we pay the pitch. We had a great time:-)

This is the iconic historic restaurant with the colored umbrellas you see in San Antonio photos. Service and food were excellent. Ordered margaritas and the combination plate which had chili, tamale, enchilada, rice, beans, guacamole salad, chips. It was awesome! Had live mariachi music and perfect location on the River walk.

This is the one with all the colourful umbrellas along the Riverwalk. Ordered chicken enchiladas which came with refried beans and Mexican rice, it was quite bland and also dry. Husband ordered chicken and shrimp fajitas which he said was good. Along with that we had a beer and a fresh watermelon juice. Overall very overpriced on the food and drinks but I guess you are paying more for the location, you are better walking a little further down. Service was ok.

We are local the to the south Texas area and now live in Fort Worth Texas. This restaurant is at best a 5 the food is good but not great. Definitely a tourist trap. For the price of the food you don’t get much. If you’re just looking for g to sit and eat by the river it’s great but if you actually want great Mexican food this is not it. The waitstaff were nice but lacking in attentiveness, we ordered more drinks but never got them.

First…the hours listed in TripAdvisor are incorrect, they are open on Sundays. We just had dinner there on a Sunday evening. Husband had the large platter that seemed to have one of everything. It arrived at the table nice and hot. Everything was very tasty. His favorite part was the chili con carne. Meat was tender and tasted very good. I ordered the chile relleno. I chose to have it with chicken. It too was delicious. Stuffed with shredded chicken and topped me delicious melted cheese. It was so large that I couldn’t finish the rice and beans. Portions were large. The staff was professional and service was spot on. Shout out to Justin, our server. He was great! We will definitely be back !

Food was mediocre and barely warm. Chili on my plate was tough chunks of meat, and the tamale was just sad. Taco meat had no flavor. The historic building appeared to be freshly painted, and everything was clean. Service was passable. You can find much better food elsewhere.

A Mexican restaurant on the San Antonio river walk with the iconic coloured umbrellas that is only good for the photos. We were not given a drinks menu so had to guess what we may want to choose. We had some chips and salsa but the chips were not homemade as you would normally expect in a Mexican restaurant. We selected food choices that gave a variety. Every single thing was bland and flavourless. Nothing was very hot, some of it cold, and it was all very clearly warmed up rather than cooked fresh. Mexican food would usually have some spice to it, this did not have any spice or even any flavour. The waitress checked on us as soon as we had received the food so we had not had a chance to try it to comment at that stage. She then didn’t bother to ask again until my partner had finished his (he was so hungry he ate it even though he didn’t enjoy it). I was about half way through so told her how bad it was. She just laughed. Said sorry (while still laughing) and asked if I wanted to try anything else. I said no because it would all taste as bad. She laughed again and walked off. There was no offer of money off or a drink to apologise. So many other restaurants to choose from in this location so please don’t bother with this one.

Awesome Mexican food. Fun atmosphere, great service. We were seated promptly and the wait staff were extremely attentive. I would recommend this establishment over and over again!

Excellent location with good food with honest price, attentive staff. Traditional place founded in 1946 and worth a visit.

GET THE MINI FLAUTAS!! they are the best food I’ve ever tasted. We went there twice during our vacation because it was so good. Watch out for the pigeons though… and the photographers. They will take your pictures “for free” but charge you if you want it printed. The vibes are beautiful, a nice view of the riverwalk and Mexican music (sometime live)

My group opted to eat at Casa Rio which bills itself as the oldest Mexican restaurant on the riverwalk. We went for lunch right at opening time. We chose a table along the riverwalk. My wife and I both ordered the chicken soft tacos. They were huge and very good. Tip: order just 2 instead of 3 like I did. They are that big and filling. Others in our party got enchiladas and queso and everything looked great. Service was top notch too.

Uninspired menu; mediocre food. Felt like a Riverwalk tourist trap, processing strolling passers-by with little enthusiasm, while somehow trading on apparently longstanding name recognition. Our server was friendly, but that didn't rescue a decidedly below-average meal. There must be much better Mexican food in the vicinity. Iron Cactus, for example (while not outstanding), was much better.

Tried Casa Rio for dinner and was disappointed. The server could have cared less if we were there or not (they weren’t busy). Our food was out to the table in less than ten minutes and was cold. Mass produced TexMex… you can do better elsewhere. They even charge for the salsa and chips that should be complimentary. There is no ambience on the patio, and no music unless you want to pay the band to play. Avoid!

The most tasteless food ever. Couldn't even finish the meal. So many other restaurants along Riverwalk, suggest anything else. Music good.

Food was good. Paying for chips and salsa is out of the norm for a Mexican restaurant. Service was good but a little slow for lunch and it wasn’t very busy.

Casa Rio is a must visit for everyone. I never miss going. This is the first time, since I got married, that I’ve been able to go. I took my husband and was hoping that he would love it as much as I do. He loved it! We had drinks, queso with ground beef, shrimp quesadillas and steak fajita nachos. All of it was wonderful! We had a 20 min wait with ample seating while we waited. Jaime, our waiter, was outstanding! He was funny, quick, and got it right the first time. We got seats right by the river. It was such a beautiful night. Thanks Casa Rio and Jaime for ensuring that my husband loves you as much as I do.

The food is outstanding here and the beer is reasonably priced. The Deluxe Dinner is outstanding. The downside of this restaurant is that the pigeons will actually land on your table and steal your food if you are not vigilant. The restaurant is not in the routine of preparing food to go. A wonderful setting to watch the boats plying the river. Outstanding service is the norm at this restaurant.

The staff was very friendly, kind and efficient. The food was great and was delivered to our table very quickly.

You can get good Tex-Mex food pretty much anywhere along Riverwalk. But the best, by far, is Casa Rio. The food is great. I had the Deluxe Dinner that comes with a taco, a beef enchilada, a tamle, chile con carne (the star of the show), some chips and queso, guac salad, beans and rice. Good luck trying to finish it all. But it's worth a try. It's also worth standing in line just to sign in for a table. Because not only is the food first-class, but there's no better place to people-watch than at an outside table underneath one of the multi-colored umbrellas. They even had a Mariachi band entertaining the night we went, which may have been something special for the Final Four. It was a great dinner with amazing atmosphere and staff, especially our server Louis!

Excellent food and the service was really nice. Also nicely located by the river. Nice atmosphere and both drinks and food arrived quickly.

The house made salsa is so good. Side note, there is a small charge for the chips and salsa. If a fresh made salsa is your thing, though, do it. Also, the chili con carne is delicious. This really hit the spot today.

Good Mexican/texmex place on the river. This place has always been consistently pretty good. Nice place and environment. The service is always great

Decided to try for dinner despite some bad reviews. We were sat quickly outside by the river. The chairs had spilled food on them. There was lettuce on the salt shaker. There were food scraps on the table. Last strike, ALL of the menus were filthy. We got up and left. I can't imagine how dirty the rest of the establishment is. Very disappointing.

The best part was sitting on the river. Some of the food was rather mediocre although my enchilada was very good. Queso and chips came as part of my entree but they poured the queso over the chips and it was messy as well as made the chips soggy.

Plenty of seating, Placed seat as one in small room with family of screaming kids(3) all 2-3 years old. Plenty of seats throughout the restaurant, only wanted lunch but couldn’t even enjoy some basic enchiladas without a headache. 12.95 margarita that was the smallest glass. In Texas at price should be a schooner. Use to love this place but , a terrible visit:(

We were excited to try this restaurant so we went early in the hopes of getting a table by the river, and we did with very little wait time. Sitting by the river is very relaxing. Our server was Jennifer and the service was prompt and efficient. In looking at previous reviews, we are amazed that people think the food is pricey. We feel just the opposite, we ordered the deluxe dinners and there was plenty of food at a very reasonable price. The food was tasty, with a nice variety. The only drawback is fighting off the aggressive birds who look for any opportunity to snatch a bite if you're not alert.

Excellent meat quality, friendly staff. We had some fajitas (very good) and some chili (the meat was excellent, but the sauce was ordinary). Good value for money and excellent location

The restaurant is well known in San Antonio. It has an historic decor. But it is very noisy. They are also not very accommodating of special dietary needs. The food is good and reasonably priced.

Skip. We don't have a US number and we were forgotten about on the wait list. When we finally got inside the service was incredibly slow. I don't think the staff could handle smaller tables and large groups. Veg "fajitas" were tasteless and wet, barely edible and barely hot. Only good thing was the salsa.

Visited here on a recommendation, was not overly impressed with either the food and service. The price was reasonable considering the riverside location. If your a tourist watch out for the staff member taking photos “for the restaurant” only to return and try to hard sell them to you for $18 a pop.

I chose this place because it is the oldest place on the Riverwalk. my server Xavi provide top notch service to y request for Chile con Carne with tender chunks of prok that were slow roasted. The food is not spicy per my request.Ask for spicy and hot sauce if that's your taste. | loved the brewed ice tea. Too many desserts so I passed.I loved my lunch at an out door riverside table to people watch and waving to tourists on the tourist boats. The outdoor area and first floor are wheel chair accessible. I understand that this is veteran owned.

We came to Casa Rio for the first time to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday. The food was excellent and we loved it! I also thought the prices were very reasonable.

There are far better options than this restaurant on the River Walk. Do yourself a favour if you need to enjoy the River ambiance. Order a drink and get your food elsewhere. Pretty much everything we ordered was virtually the worst Mexican food we have had.

The food and drinks were terrible!! The fajitas nachos had nothing but gobs and gobs of cheese. The drinks were extremely over priced at almost $26 each for a premium margarita. Never will we go to this restaurant again.

Good food. Indoor and outdoor dining. Beef fajitas were very good. My friend said his chili was the best he ever had. Expect to wait for a table at this and all the better places. Check reviews because there are some places that provide terrible food and service on the Riverwalk, yet survive because it is such a busy, tourist area.

We loved the food and outdoor seating of Casa Rio. We were sitting outside and enjoying the weather, water, looking at ducks, birds and squirrels. Salsa was amazing and food was also very yummy. We will definitely dine at this restaurant when we are in San Antonio next time.

The restaurant is quite large so it was a little difficult actually finding the entrance. With it being on the Riverwalk, it’s a popular spot as well. Service was friendly and professional. Food was very good, I would recommend the Chili Relleno (stuffed pepper). Best part was value for money. You can have a decent meal for under $ 30. Definitely recommend

This place is fine if you want chips & queso and a margaritas on the river. If you want good Mexican food, go elsewhere. The stuff they serve, I refer to it as 'tourist' food. Mass produced and not as good as other places. I warn people, if they want Mexican, get away from the Riverwalk.

We were here 4:30, super late lunch/early dinner so it wasn't crowded. Given the heat, we chose to sit inside. Gerard our waiter warned me the watermelon aqua fresca might be sold out (he will check) and recommended the Horchata. I wasn't sure what that was and he offered to bring me a sample. We ordered the regular plate and a chili relleno. Both came very fast, my guess is the kitchen wasn't busy yet. Turned out there was just enough to make me a watermelon aqua fresca (I hope it wasn't seriously diluted) and Gerard brought me a sample of the Horchata too. Both were very flavorful albeit on the too-sweet side for me.

Casa Rio on the Riverwalk in San Antonio should be walked right by. 10 of are lunch there today and no one enjoyed their meal. Good guac is about it. Skip it

This is the oldest restaurant on the riverwalk. The service was pretty good though our entrees did not come out together. The guacamole was fresh and good. The shrimp ceviche was ok with lots of small pieces of shrimp. The tacos lacked flavor. They weren’t anything special. Very salty. The “regular plate” was greasy. Honestly we didn’t finish our meals.

The food was awful, very bland and no flavor. Casa Rio cater to 85% tourism and don't care what they serve as the majority of people don't return. My wife and I took a couple of bites and left the rest. Complained to Server but was not compensated with a replacement or refund. We live in Texas and was in Town for a Concert but will not return or recommend restaurant to friends or family. Has a good reputation but probably for being on the Riverwalk only as the food was dissappointing.

The atmosphere is lovely. Right on the water and away from the street. The food is terrible. I had the crispy tacos. Just horrific. The grease from the meat ruined the crispy taco shell. The dish came out about 1 minute after I ordered it, which was an indication of the factory that must be in the back. The beans and rice were no better. Rice was dry and tasteless. Beans were ok but the cheese on top was just thrown on and not even melted. Everything was barely warm. I will say the margarita was quite good. I had the house classic. Also, my waitress, Victoria, was quite lovely and very attentive. But for those it would have been a lower rating. Can't speak to other dishes but would definitely stay away from the crispy tacos.

We enjoyed a nice lunch by the river, the dishes were very delicious, a Chili and fajitas that were very well prepared. The service was very good.

Two couples. All four of agreed it was highly disappointing. All ordered different meals. The Flautus tasted like they had been cooked in old rancid oil. The fajitas were bland and not seasoned... we love fajitas and these were the worse. The enchiladas were terrible, one chicken one beef, the chicken was extremely dry. The beef was over seasoned and dry. Appears they make it in massive batches the day before and just keep heating it up. The tortillas one of the worse ever. The chips were stale and chewy ... we dumped them in the river for the ducks. The service was the only redeeming factor. Bean and rice okay. Be prepared to be accosted to pay $20 for the Mariachas to play a song ( first they ask if you would like to hear a song..of course you say yes and then they ask for $20) or being approached to buy pictures while earing Basically a tourist trap

I am still looking for the "best" Tex-Mex in town. Nothing has been horrible, but few places stand out. Casa Rio is an old, established restaurant that has been serving good Tex-Mex for decades. Victor, my waiter, took very good care of me and deserves a shout-out. The chili con carne was very tasty, but not especially hot. I'm not complaining since I like plenty of flavor, but I do not enjoy tasting nothing but hellfire. Also, this is old-school chili with chunks of meat best eaten with a fork. Usually when I visit Casa Rio (and my last visit was pre-pandemic), I get the enchilada plate. This time I tried the beef quesadilla. It was deliciously cheesy and the beef had fajita seasoning. The spices were a bit mild for hard-core Tex-Mex fans, but for folks needing an approachable introduction to the cuisine that made the city famous, it's good. I had heard that the same family that owns Casa Rio also owns Schilo's Deli on the street level. This is an awesome combination. You can now get Schilo's delectable homemade root beer at Casa Rio. YUM! German food at Schilo's for lunch and Tex-Mex at Casa Rio for supper. Hard to beat!

This is a historic San Antonio restaurant and we were excited to try it on our first night in town. Very disappointing experience. Food was horrible with little taste. Appetizers came out after dinner and the food was cold. Fajitas came on a plate with barely any peppers and onions… they should be sizzling on a skillet! Server was nice but inside atmosphere could use a bit of updating. Altogether a poor experience and really unacceptable food. With so many restaurants along the river walk, would not recommend eating here. Just stop for pictures in front of the colorful umbrellas.

I have eaten here for fifty years and lately seems to have gone downhill. The restaurant is festive, lovely and the staff very nice and courteous. It’s the food that is cold and not good. Please make it better as we love to eat here as locals. We have taken out of town visitors but feel we cannot continue to do so. Food needs major redo.

The food was great, the atmosphere was awesome, and so was the service. I have to admit, we tried a lot off the menu. It was full of mexican foo1d happiness. The mariachi band was a nice touch too. I will definitely be coming back!

After so many bad reviews I was scared to eat here but I loved it! The chips and salsa, service, and flautas were delicious! Don’t be turned off by the bad reviews. This is affordable food place to grab a bite!

The food was absolutely horrid. Served barely looked at your face. Bathroom was disgusting. We went because it had a great reputation and had been in business for many, many years.

This is my favorite on the river. It is also the most historic going back well before the World's Fair. River boat tours cross as you dine and of course the ducks live it if you toss them a chip or two. Make sure to dine outside under the umbrellas. Lots of delicious margartita choices. Portions are hefty... you won't go hungry! Parking is the most convenient for the river walk as there is an adjacent garage. Its also an easy short walk to the most historic Alamo! If you a Disney buff watch the movie Davey Crockett staring Fess Parker. An old classic of an almost bygone era. As they say...Remember the Alamo!

We had some friends in town for a family member graduating from AF boot camp. They had travelled all day and were starving, we selected this restaurant as we had bad food at another on the Riverwalk. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, not a long wait though. Once we were seated it was chaotic, I feel like they are a but under staffed. The server tried, she really did but it took awhile for the food to come out and it did not come out in proper order. We were disappointed in the food, it was bland. We would not recommend.

The food was absolutely horrible! They got 100% of our order wrong. They fixed the items we asked them to but to be honest the food was sone of the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life! Eaten here before and everything was fresh and great. I don’t know what could have happened for this to go so bad. Everything was over cooked, tasteless and to be frank OLD, like it had been cooked days before refrigerated then taken out, put back and taken out again. Tasted like it was cooked in reused rancid oil as well. Will never ever eat here again.

I can't imagine the owner of the restaurant looking at the plate of food served us, and say, now that's something to be proud of. If you like quantity over quality, then you may like this place. If you like refried beans, you will love this place. Half the food on my plate was refried beans. Not exaggerating. It was not serviced with sour cream or salsa. The server had the Gen Z stare the entire time. Didn't know how to communicate or make people feel welcomed. If you do eat here, eat inside. If you eat outside you will have about a dozen pigeons under your feet and maybe on your table.

This place was a disappointment because it used to be better. There was no welcome and all the tables were filthy and covered in dishes. The staff acted like they didn’t care and just wanted to leave. I got up and left.

Nice spot along the Riverwalk, but overrun by pigeons. They flew right under the umbrellas and over our table. Crazy! Typical Mexican food. It was freshly made and flavourful. My wife loves Mexican food and said it was good. I can take it or leave it, so it was fine.

I never thought I’d say I was sick of barbecue, but after 3 straight days of it, we needed a different type of cuisine. Casa Rio stuck out on the riverwalk, so that is where we ate. Food was great. I got the deluxe dinner and loved it. Their queso was great also. They had a mariachi band also that was fun.

Worst Mexican food i've ever had. Couldn't finish eating my enchiladas. Riverwalk is not for the disabled. Birds eating with you as they had obviously been fed a lot.

Great service, great atmosphere and typical Tex Mex food. Had a great time with friends and enjoyed the view of the Riverwalk.

My husband has dined at this restaurant before while on work trips so on this family trip we dined here. We ate earlier (around 5pm), we were immediately seated at a table along the river, the service was outstanding (thank you Wendy), and the food was delicious! Our 8-year old is picky but enjoyed her chips, salsa, and chicken taco. Our 10-year old son liked his chicken quesadillas and guacamole. The adults enjoyed tamales, chicken enchiladas, margaritas. Desert, churros and flan, was also a hit! Above all, the service was outstanding!

This is a festive spot providing outdoor seating on the River Walk. If you don't like pidgeons and ducks flying around you, you might find a different seating option. The food was very good (Green Chicken Enchiladas and Chicken Nachos), the service attentive, and my Top Shelf Margarita excellent. My husband did not care for the house white wine but the server replaced it with a margarita. The Go Rio dinner cruise boat pulled up alongside the river front table blocking the view of about 6 tables while the staff prepared the boat for the dinner cruise.

Been here several times before. One of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. Love the location and the atmosphere and food. However, we were very disappointed this trip. Service was just ok and the food was not good. Unfortunately, I doubt we’ll be back. As expensive as dining out is these days, not worth it. They even charged extra for chips and salsa.

Been going to this restaurant when in San Antonio for many, many years. Always a long wait but discouraged now by the increase in prices. Only restaurant that I know of that is now charging $2.00 for chips and salsa! Absolutely ridiculous with the amount of business they get. These are complimentary at all other mexican restaurants and you would think after having customers wait for a table and then for service, the least they could do is provide free chips and salsa. Greed!

My wife and I stopped here for dinner while visiting San Antonio 3 weeks ago and really enjoyed this location. Friendly staff, great prices, good drinks, delicious food and the location on the Riverwalk was perfect. Christina, our pre-dinner bartender was outstanding. Our server, Thomas, another outstanding job, took the time to answer our questions regarding the menu items! I had the Pollo Asado and my wife had the Green Chicken Enchiladas Plate. Thomas was busy but was there when we needed anything. Will definitely be back to this restaurant!!! I read other reviews on TripAdvisor and didn't experience anything negative, sorry!

Typical Mexican restaurant along the splendid Riverwalk of wonderful San Antonio. Very good food. Friendly staff. Beautiful location especially if you eat on the terrace overlooking the river.

This was very disappointing. We enjoyed the atmosphere along the Riverwalk, however there are 49 other restaurants that also offer this. Aside from the salsa they put out with the chips, the food was horrible. I had the chicken street tacos, my husband orders some chalupas. Both of our entrees came out cold and aside from salty, it was flavorless. We decided it was comparable to something served for a school cafeteria lunch.

Excellent food, large portions for the price. Best prices for the amount of food on the riverwalk. Staff were very welcoming and attentive.

It was a very hot day so I won’t blame the restaurant for how miserable it was waiting outside for over an hour, sweating and looking for shade. We hoped that the wait would be worth it but it really wasn’t. The service wasn’t very good. Staff was maybe too busy and we waited nearly another hour for our food. There were plenty of empty tables inside so maybe it was a staff shortage. Still with the empty tables, the indoor space was loud and hard to talk with our family. The food when it came was okay but just okay.

We really had a good experience here! Margarita was really good. We split fajitas and it was really good, left full but not stuffed. Would go back! Also love the mariachi band playing.

Went here on a Monday just before the eclipse. The restaurant was very busy but we were told they could accommodate the five of us but it would be about 45mins. Fine no problem! The young guy at the desk asked for my cell/mobile number but when he saw it was UK number he he could call this but told us to sit in the veranda bar and someone would come and get us. After 1.5 hours I went back to the desk and asked about our table. I was told that the kitchen was backed up but we were second in line. After another 45 mins I again went back to find out what was happening. The guy said we called you twice but didn't answer so we cancelled your table. When I said you could call me as you would not take my number but we had been sitting where he told us, he just turned his back and walked away!! We were in San Antonio a further week and found much better (and friendlier) Mexican restaurant in Market Square.

Stopped in for dinner with a group of 14. We had to split up but my smaller group was able to sit on Riverwalk. I ordered their regular platter with a tamale, enchiladas and Chile con carne. The Chile con carne was outstanding. It was very good. My wife had the chalupas. She said hers was very good as well. Service was outstanding. Worth the visit and would go again.

When in San Antonio meeting up with long time friends CasaRio us right across the Riverwalk. The attraction was it was Mexican and very colorful. Little did I know at the time that it was also the very first restaurant ever to open on the Riverwalk, it did not take long for us to get sat down, and they brought out our waters and drinks and my friend ordered their queso to go with the chips. I had had food all over Texas, and never ever have. I had queso as flavorful and amazing as this queso, I don't know what they did different. But it was definitely different. I had the Chile Rellano that was stuffed with chicken ... out of this world. I can truly say it's the best I've had in my life! Then the photographer came up wanted to take our picture, so doing the touristy thing we got those fun things. What an opportunity to get a fun photo with our friends! It was a fabulous time had by all.

Just finished our lunch there. Food was passable but uninspired and seemed more like chain restaurant food. The waiter consistently messed up our order, from the drinks to the entrees and we had to wait for the correct food to come out while our friends ate theirs. Then, at the end of the meal the waiter asked us to pay his tip in cash… which we were stunned but complied and all felt uncomfortable with the exchange. There are lots of restaurants along the river walk… I’d keep walking.

As a Mexican I think it is the WORST I have ever tasted! It is a shame that such a visited place serve such a bad meal damaging the good reputation that has the food of my country Mexico 🇲🇽 and to top it off that it is so expensive.

After our river boat cruise, we came to this restaurant. Hospitable, friendly, warm servers We both enjoyed our lunches. Enchiladas and vegetarian fajitas. Plenty of food! We sat at a table alongside the river. Very nice!

The restaurant is easy to find along the San Antonio River Walk. It appears to be more Mexican than Tex-Mex. They offer seating along the River Walk path and inside (since we didn't go inside, we can't comment on the interior decor). The server was reasonably friendly and fairly attentive. The food was good (but not necessarily that much better than our local advisor suggested that it was). The prices appeared to be slightly less than most (at least for the items we ordered) other restaurants in the area. Overall a good experience.

Great Mexican meal at a very reasonable price. The place was very crowded but the server kept coming back to check on us. A lot of local families having dinner made it feel like it was a local.

The atmosphere and location were wonderful. But the food and drinks were the worst I’ve had in SA. If ordering Margaritas, do yourself a favour and upgrade to the good ones. The traditional tasted like over-sweet cool aid. The upgrade would have been more enjoyable if it wasn’t served in a plastic cups. I’m no greenie, but it’s not environmentally friendly and ruins the experience. Same with the salad dressing, the plastic container was unnecessary. The chicken in my fajitas was overcooked and had clearly been reheated. There are so many better dining options in SA, a city renowned for its Tex Mex. This restaurant needs to lift its game.

This restaurant has a lot of history. The service was slow, but the waitress looked like she was running around trying to serve the entire restaurant. The margaritas were awesome. It took a while to get food. It was fine.

We decided to try Casa Rio down at the Riverwalk. Although the foot traffic was less, there still was a wait. The margarita drink wasn’t that great. I had had so much better. The food was was cooked all the way through. The tamale was very loose. What they claim is Chili con carne, wasn’t. Don’t waste your money.

Great Tex-mex on the Riverwalk, the quintessential San Antonio dinner. Service is well organized, friendly, and fast. It is easy to get on the wait list, and they text you when your table is ready, there is plenty of seating and a bar for your wait. Prices are very reasonable, especially for a tourist spot. We had a table on the river and enjoyed our food. No, it’s not authentic Mexican food, it’s classic Tex-mex, great cheese enchiladas.

Really disappointing nachos. I had been walking all over downtown and suddenly had a craving for amazing nachos, the kind where the tortilla chips have heaps of good stuff piled onto them. This place looked like a place that would have them. Nope. I ordered nachos with fajita meat. It was a plate with one layer of soggy chips arranged on a circle, with fajita meat and melted cheddar cheese on top, with a bed of lettuce in the middle, and a dollop of guacamole and sour cream. It was really awful. You could probably get better nachos at Applebees, Chili's or TGIFriday. Seriously. Plus, it took me forever to be acknowledged. Servers, bussers and hostesses kept walking past me, without even greeting me and saying, "It'll be just a moment." I honestly didn't know if the person assigned to my table knew I was there. I flagged down a hostess, and she said, "You need to be patient." Once the waiter did come, though, he did give good service.

We have eaten here before. The expectation on the riverwalk is mediocre Texas-Mex. You are there for the riverwalk. This was not there. The only reason it gets 2 stars is the service. Our poor waiter could not overcome the bland food offered. No flavor. No spice (not even basic salt). Look elsewhere.

The food was very good snd the service was exceptional. Most every item costs you extra money, e.g., spicy salsa but I do recommend it for a quick lunch on the River

Save your $$$$ We had chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans. The enchiladas were barely warm and rice and beans were cold. If you wanted chips and salsa you had to pay for them, not complimentary. The ladies next to our table had an up charge for salsa and for jalapeños to go with their order of nachos. Nice location on Riverwalk, but do not recommend. I have eaten here many times over the years was stationed in the USAF here, but it’s gone way downhill.

Im a white boy who could live on Mexican food. My wife could as well. We both enjoyed our meals here. The chili con carne was fantastic. I loved my enchiladas. They were just a little different than a lot of places and I liked that.

Stopped in for a drink and a late lunch/early dinner. Valentino was our server, and he was great. Ordered an app with an entree to share, ordered a specialty drink as well. The drink is a show in and of itself. Enjoyed the food, the drink and certainly the AC!

I thought it was impossible to have bad Mexican food in San Antonio. I was wrong. Perhaps it was because of Cinco de Mayo, but the food took at least an hour to come out. Six people at our table and no one said anything positive about the food. My plate was supposed to be fajitas. It was more like over done roast beef. The only positive were the chips and salsa (we all filled up on them while we waiting).

Sorry Casa Rio, it just was not your night. The family and I had dinner last night 2/4, we expected the crowd and y’all did great getting us seated in a fair amount of time. The waiter was attentive and kept us going with our tea and water. The issue was the food. All of it, beans, rice enchilada sauce we extremely over salted. Even my kids who put salt on everything had a hard time with it. It just was not edible. I told the waiter and his response was “it depends on who’s cooking” he acknowledged that it’s a reoccurring issue that is known. I was disappointed that this was the extent of the acknowledgment as he handed me the bill. Well, I can say we will never make this mistake again.

This is the oldest Mexican restaurant on the Riverwalk. It has the widest variety of Mexican food. A lot of the places only had tacos and nachos The service was good. Food was great. Atmospheric for very Mexican!

Waiter served our food to another table, then wanted to bring it to us afterward. The manager seemed unconcerned.

Waitstaff was friendly. Immediate seating indoors-outdoors huge wait even with tons of open tables. Food was average. No complementary chips and salsa during long wait for order.

First off, the service was S~L-O-W. This was an internal staffing issue as it was a weekday at 3:30-4:00. The guacamole was not fresh (probably prepackaged) and the queso already had a film on it by the time they brought our appetizer out. For the main course, I got shrimp tacos. The shrimp was fishy and not seasoned. The green enchiladas were better but not anything to rave about. The ONLY plus of the restaurant was its location- and that is saying something. There are so many options on the Riverwalk- that serve excellent food. Not this one- skip it.

The location was great/ the lights on the river and on the boars were pretty. The food was subpar. It lacked flavor. The service was poor.

The food wasn’t very good and you constantly swatting pigeons and ducks away if you sit on the River Walk. I got the Mexican Combination the only thing that was good was the chips and queso. Cheese Enchilada barely had flavor, the taco was like dog food, refried beans not flavorful, guacamole also bland, the worst was the Tamale so dry it was inedible. Service was fast and they tried to get some pigeons away by hitting them with the same cloth they were cleaning the tables with SMH
Not what you may expect
Expected good. Got much less than that. Chips were wet. Tasted like an ashtray. Service was poor and could not tell anyone as I couldn’t even get straws for the drinks. The rest of my meal was good but the overall ambience inside, poor service and crappy chips detracted.
