Casablanca is a must try, especially if you are hanging out in Santa Monica, or Venice Beach. A great menu known for Calimari steak and the BEST DAMN TEQUILA BAR IN THE CITY.

I have been living in LA for years and have passed this place 100's of times on Lincoln and recently visited with a gf because we were too hungry to make it to the spot we originally wanted to go (head to Manhattan Beach from Santa Monica - this was the middle point). It was such an interesting spot on the inside - quirky but fun atmosphere and the BEST tortillas I have tasted. I will be going back for the tortillas solo - delish!

What does the famous movie "Casablanca" have to do with Mexican seafood? Nothing of course, but it has almost nothing to do with the city in Morocco, either. The airport scenes were all shot in Van Nuys, and the rest on a Hollywood set. So here is LA's tribute restaurant, and a good tribute this restaurant is. The food is good but not great, although the tortillas are, and watching them made is a treat. I've been to the real Casablanca, but not the "Rick's Café Americaine" that the Hilton put up for tourists. Part of the movie's charm for me and many others is the fact that it's so hokey, just another Hollywood fantasy. There's no such thing as a letter of transit, and there's no Mexican seafood in the movie, but this restaurant is just as hokey as the movie. That's part of its charm for me. And it's a good place to stop for Mexican food and a good place to remember my favorite movie of all time, as time goes by.

I love this restaurant. It has been around for a long time which tells you something. The staff are friendly and fast. The food is excellent and the house made tortilla's with salsa is amazing. The drinks are large and they love the heavy pour.

Casablanca might be a strange name for a Mexican restaurant but the food, wine and service here is anything but. I really enjoyed a family outing here and can't recommend it highly enough. Really great atmosphere as well.

This restaurant was a recommendation from our hotel. Although I was leery because of the name, it works!! It's a darling restaurant with fantastic hand made tortillas in place of chips and salsa. Their Salsa Verde is so good, you won't be able to stop!! Table side margaritas that were SO good, but be careful, after a few I was hugging my waiter!! If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend stopping in here for a Marg and some great Mexican food. Free parking too.

The Free Parking was abundant, enter a magic restaurant a feast for the eyes. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW OUTSTANDING THE SERVICE WAS - they work in Teams and it was fastest, most professional service I have ever seen. My Salmon was the Best and priced right. There was a very nice musician and I was told they have music every night. You can watch this one woman making fresh Tortillas from scratch. Both Food and Drink were excellent and filled to the brim. I firmly believe that this is now one of my very favorite restaurants and I have been to many. Nice portions, nice prices, nice environment. It is on the Northeast Corner of Rose and Lincoln.

We have eaten here a number of times. The tortillas, feta cheese salsa and butter you get before the courses come out is addicting. I think we asked for more three times. Chip( I think that is his name) is a must visit to your table. He is fun and makes awesome margaritas. Tell him what you like and he delivers. Usually a bit more tequila than you need, did I really say that? The food is alway consistent. A well kept secret for the Venice locals.

There was a really long line when we went but we weaseled a seat at the bar. They make fresh tortillas there that taste more like naan and they’re incredible. They literally give you one as an appetizer. The burritos are enormous as are the quesadillas. I’m obsessed with Mexican good and this is the best one in the style of older men waiters in a dark interior with random Christmas decorations Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in LA. If that makes sense. It may not but this place is amazing and a must try

The drinks here are amazing. They make them table side and they are so flavorful and strong. The food was just OK. I would probably just go there for appetizers and drinks.

I drool for the margaritas served at Casablanca. The atmosphere is very fun with well done paintings of scenes from the movie "Casablanca." The crowd is always in the mood to have fun. The wait for a table from Friday through Sunday can be long. The tortillas are hand made in front of the customers. Some of the dishes are quite good, others a bit above average. A guitarist plays on weekends. I go about twice a month with friends.

Read and heard a lot about the restaurant since I live in the area and having tried all the best known Mexican restaurants in the West side, my wife and I decided to give it try for lunch this past Saturday. We were escorted to the table which was readily available, we ordered drinks that were served very promptly. I wanted to order the Calamari Marisco one of their signature dishes and noticed it did not appear in their lunch menu. I asked the waiter if I could order it and he told that they could not serve it until 3:00 PM when they start the dinner service, I made an attempt by reminding him that it was already 2:30 PM but he did no bother to check with the kitchen about preparing the Calamari Marisco since it was so close to the start of the dinner service. Disappointed by the lack of effort, we looked once again at the menu and ordered other items but we were not impressed with the presentation or the taste of the food, I have been to many authentic Mexican restaurants but Casablanca did not registered amongst the top 5 in the Venice/Marina del Rey area.

Tempted to give a 2 star in order to keep the crowd down BUT seriously this has been one of our favorite places as long as we can remember (80s). The table side Margaritas (try the smoky/chili one) and the Filet Mignon with tequila sauce are awesome and will have you coming back as soon as you can. The perfect place to take visitors freshly landed from LAX. Don't miss the flan for desert. Grab a designated driver and have a second Margarita!!! Great value for the money. Be glad the 2 star people won't come back--they are out getting a life.

I’ve been to Casablanca off and on for years and it somehow retains its good food, reasonable prices and friendly servers. The food is not the Mexican served in most Mexican restaurants, deferring primarily to seafood dishes a la mexicana. I love the flour tortillas made by hand right there in the dining area – they are very “heavy” and not for dieters, but oh-so-good with the complimentary sauce provided (seems to be avocado inspired with chunks of queso fresco). They have a soup or salad with most orders, and the salad is now better than it has been in recent years: nice greens, mandarin oranges and choice of interesting dressings. They have a wandering tequila cart and their margaritas are quite good. We had one of their specialty calamari dishes and it was delicious (I love the way they do their rice, but the accompanying veggies, while fresh, are a bit bland). One of our party tried the Seafood Brasero which was beautifully served and had ample salmon, shrimp and scallops with wonderful seasoning. What a bargain for $17.99. The Trout Mariscos was a delicate baked salmon with baby shrimp and crab meat. We skipped dessert, although I wish they still had the superb Tres Leches they used to serve. Our server told us that it had been discontinued some time ago. The décor is a bit dated, but it is a funky place where you can enjoy the Casablanca (movie) décor throughout the restaurant. So come and enjoy the good food, very friendly service and (sometimes) the music.

This was my first trip to LA so had no idea of where to eat. Of course, I always consult Trip Advisor and as usual, didn’t let me down. Although Casablanca looked a bit iffy on the outside, the restaurant was charming on the inside. When I saw the freshly handmade tortilla lady, I was sold. The food was extremely well portioned and almost too much for me. I had the fish tacos and the fish was prepared perfectly and was so fresh. That with homemade tortillas, salsa, and beans, I was in heaven. The margarita cart was a cute touch. Thanks to the wonderful friendly staff and owner for a lovely dinner!

My son took us to this quirky and terrific Mexican restaurant. It was wonderful. The fresh tortillas were the best ever. I also really liked the avocado salad dressing. We all loved our dinners and especially liked the way they served the rice with cheese on top.

Casablanca offers a unique dining experience beginning with a decor consisting of numerous artifacts, photos and paintings from the movie, to the food. I had the fish tacos and avocado salad which were delicious. A few people from our party orderer $11 margaritas from a tequila cart. Everyone agreed that they were worth every penny.

Don't question why a restaurant decorated in Casablanca movie history is serving Mexican food. The pianist is entertaining, it's fun to watch the lady making tortillas and the food excellent. My husband enjoyed making his chicken tacos with the tortillas we saw come from the grill and my seafood brochette was delicious. There are lots of tequila choices too!

Very cool old movie location in scenic Santa Monica/Venice CA. Great food and service was wonderful and cost was reasonable. Busy on weekends, not as bad during the week but worth the wait.

If you are looking for a casual hangout place for your next dinner and drinks with friends, you can stop searching as you read. Casablanca is authentic mexican restaurant, located very close to all Los Angeles sightseeing locations, so for you travellers, looking for authentic bite to eat and stiff cocktails YOU FOUND THE RIGHT PLACE. 1. Do not miss the chance to try their homemade fresh tortillas! BEST TORTILLAS IN TOWN! Hands down! Their amazing cheese quesadilla is made with these in-house tortillas! 2. Do not miss the chance to order your cocktail while dining. Your personal bartender will push his bar cart thru the restaurant and make fresh margaritas or other drinks right at your table. This is one incredible experience. 3. Sit at the bar with friends, nibble on some hot tortillas and butter and enjoy Margaritas! Place needs some upgrades to get 5 full stars from me, it is authentic, but it could be little more upgraded or “refreshed”. Being located right on Lincoln Blvd. it is extremely close to Venice Beach, Santa Monica and just across the street from Whole Foods Market.

I go here with my family and we love it! The tortillas are SO good they taste authentic?? I don't know that's the best way I can describe it. The food is very good though I do think they should add more Mexican dishes like mole or ceviche? but overall so good I love this place but I'm telling you the tortillas are SOOOO GOOD!!!

We had a fabulous dinner at this lovely restaurant. We enjoyed the wonderful margaritas, excellent service and delicious fajitas and other Mexican fare. So much fun dining here! Very typically Mexican with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend if you love Mexican food!

A Mexican restaurant with pasta dishes! That says it all. Very few mexican clientele, if any In the restaurant. That says it all to me. I am told this was a very good and authentic Mexican restaurant years ago. Now it seems to be bordering on fast food with a strictly Anglo clientele. The Margaritas taste like mix on ice with no discernible taste of tequila. I have been to hundreds of Mexican restaurants in the southwest, California and OREGON and this one doesn’t even come close. The salsa is very mild which also says a lot about who this restaurant caters to. The service is good and fast and programmed ( I.e. same answers to all questions). All in all nothing special to anyone who knows authentic Nexican food.

This place is super cool. First of all, they have all kinds of memorabilia from the movie Casablanca, there are pictures and mementos covering the walls. I really like it. Both times I have been there, there has been a man playing music on his guitar and signing. It's very romantic. A woman makes homemade flour tortillas right in the middle of the dining area and she is so sweet and nice. The tortillas are served with an amazing salsa that is unlike anything I've ever had. They have a tequila cart where a man comes around and you can order a customized margarita, there are so many options. The food is fresh and delicious, and the tortilla soup is probably one of the best I've had. Love coming here when I am in town visiting!

Brought some business associates here as it was reasonably close to their hotel at the airport. They were intrigued by the name and the interior. However, when they saw the bar they were mesmerized! More different tequilas than they had ever seen! Reuben the bartender was fantastic! If you are into tequilas you will be in heaven, but make sure you have food to eat or you will be in trouble!

Casablanca is really a Mexican restaurant. The interior is very strange. The service is good. The waiters are most gracious. The food is just so-so. Not bad, not good....just OK. Is it worth a trip just to eat there? No...there are many other area Mexican restaurants that have far better food.

We've been to this well-established Venice Mexican restaurant a number of times, but always relegated it to the "2nd or 3rd" category (along with it's sort of sister restaurant across the street, La Cabana.) Surprisingly, it seems to be getting better- or maybe I am becoming kinder! We had a celebratory dinner there last night and everything was surprisingly better than memory served. The bartender has a heavy hand with the drinks, the tortillas are justifiably delicious, and the whole ambiance was, while a little hokey, really pretty fun for a night out. The place was packed and they had live music, and the tequila cart actually serves a useful function in getting you drunker quicker! None of the food was bad (well, maybe the guac...) and a standout was the (not on the menu) rockfish a la diabla- really delicious and it easily knocks the socks off ANYTHING at La Cabana (which we actually love, but for sentimental reasons, not primarily for the food.)

Needed a late dinner and this was open until 10:00. The atmosphere was very funky and lively with live music playing in the main dining room. We opted for that room as the bar was too noisy to hear each other talk. The waiters were great and helped with our selection. Really liked the Tequila taxi that came to the table. Good was good. Could have used a bit more flavor but overall worth the visit.

..and that's because I am a real late comer to this staple on the Venice Sunday brunch scene. I cant find anything negative to say about this place and I cant wait to go back to introduce it to other friends. The waiting staff were gracious, the ambiance fascinating, the food tasty and the price, terrific value!

The meal starts with delicious hand made and hand cooked tortillas. The salsa is delicious and has diced avacados and tomatillos. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. This was my first time there and it won't be my last!

I'm blown away by the warm ambiance of the place as we walk through the doors. There are Casablanca movie posters, murals, but not cluttered with unrelated memorabilia like an Applebee's wall. The Tequila wall has a magical glow, with many options to choose from. The menu has a lot of Mexican options, not just seafood. I had the verde chicken enchiladas. Served with rice and beans, and presented beautifully. Before the entree, we received fresh handmade tortillas with a verde salsa (To die for). And now, for the margarita cart..a black bow-tie wearing, mustached man named Chip toted a cart around with a select variety of tequilas and all of the fixings to create tasty beverages on the rocks. This man put him self through college at this restaurant 25 years ago, left, and came back because he missed it so...that tells you something about the establishment right away...It's good. I tried the spicy jalapeño margarita and let me tell you! A heavenly Hell in a glass. Not too spicy but warmed my throat right up (and gave me a very nice buzz). This place is a must.

We really enjoyed this place. Nice atmosphere, and excellent fish tacos. Everything appears to be homemade, for the tortillas you can even watch how they are made.

We love coming to this place for the amazing flour torilla's. They are simply the BESt in LA, and we eat a lot of mexican food whenever we stay in LA! The lighting is dim and natural (perfect) and the service is always good. We love getting a margarita made by the special cart service that comes to the table. Great, quirky little restaurant. Get a booth if you take children with you.

They have some cool Casablanca themed artifacts, a la the classic film, but lunch was a little uncomfortable. The bar was not opened, so half the restaurant was darkened during the day. We split the fish tacos and they were extremely good - I wish we'd been able to go for dinner in order to experience the true ambiance of the place.

I finally went back to this restaurant I used to go around 8 years ago when we leaved in Venice. What a disappointment! As much as we loved it in the past (with a couple of flaws) I was sincerely disappointed this time. I went with the three kids on a Friday night. Sure it was full (popular now and has a bar for adults) and the whole energy had changed. The musician was already wrapping up, the tortilla maker looked tired and the waiters were doing everything to get you out as soon as possible. The pictures were still there on the wall though! Loved seeing them again... But honestly how can a place making fresh tortillas serve them totally undercooked?.. We ordered different meals (full meals, no kids meals) and even my daughter always so forgiving and so after great memories ended up only eating a few bites of her un-chewable steak... And cheese on everything, so much cheese, no taste left. I ordered the calamaris I remembered enjoying so much: they arrived totally flat, breaded (not mentioned in the menu) without taste and rice with cheese, veggies with cheese too -and oh! so oily. The guacamole never arrived (probably better). The waiter while with a smile was in a hurry for everything, never offered water, couldn't wait to get us out. And the best for the end: we all 4 got sick or "half-sick" (as my daughter says) during the night. I am sure the restaurant does well on week end with it's ambiance and (flooded) margaritas, and being across Whole Food may help too. But does it do well during the week - or perhaps it is better during the week?.. I love the movie though, will just stick to the movie next time, and NEVER come back here. Too expansive too for what it is (and no, you don't even get chips and salsa).

I love this place, i may be a kid but every time I go those tortillas are amazing and make my day amazing. I normally eat like 3 of them and like 1 piece of steak. Havent been here in a long tme but will go again this week!

You are not going to find Mexican food like this anywhere else in the city. This place truly is a hidden gem.The restaurant is not in a particularly good part of town so go during the day. This place has the best tortillas made right before your very eyes.It should be a crime to go to LA and not eat here.

Terrific murals on the walls, movie memorabilia, and slightly different recipes than I am used to for your old favorites

The Calamari steaks are to die for, and the Margarita cart is amazing. Design your own custom Margarita and watch it be made at your table, you will come back again, and again. They also hand make their tortillas. A great place, very reasonably priced.

We've been going to Casablanca for 15 years & the food quality never changes. If you like calamari - this is the place to go. Excellent margaritas & homemade tortillas. The decor is from the old movie. We love this place & go whenever we are in LA. I sent my cousin from Fla. there & they loved it too. Gotta try it!

Fresh made tortillas, great margheritas, live music, recommended. Service is excellent. Parking can be tricky

We have been to this place many times, and while the food is good, we really go for the tortillas, and the specialty tequilas. The house salad dressing is also worth a try, as well as the seafood dishes. They always have great music in the evening and the atmosphere is just quirky enough to keep it interesting. The prices are very competiive, and the drinks are well mixed....not just a lot of ice like so many mexican places.

I live in L.A. and have been going to Casablanca every Sunday practically for the past 6 years with my husband and kids. The Sunday Brunch is the best! For about $14, you get fruit bowl, entree, flan for desert and unlimited sangrias, mimosas, or bloody marys. I always get the carne asada with with wonderful with their amazing tortillas (made right there by a tortilla lady). My husband always gets the salmon and it is great everytime. In fact, he has to order a taco as well because our daughter keeps eating his salmon. They also have a guitar playing singer there for brunch as well. Sunday is our family day at Casablanca so I can't speak to the menu on other days, but we love this restaurant and the staff is wonderful

The food is fresh and the margaritas are big. This restaurant was a place for the locals as well as tourists. We went here because we love the movie. It was decorated with all memorabilia from the movie. The night we were there, they had a live band playing music from that era. The tortillas were some the best I ever had. They cook them fresh on top of a fire. I had the make your own tacos and all of the ingredients were tasty and fresh. Very reasonable. This was a short drive from Santa Monica Pier.

Oddly the reviews of restaurants in the Venice-Santa Monica region are similarly positive. But nonetheless we chose Casablanca out of the group. The restaurant sits on a non-descript boulevard corner surrounded by very narrow parking slots. Entering the place you take in the shadowy decor with rough stucco plastered walls that have seen better days. The staff is cheery and positive but for a Mexican food spot, there is something offsetting by the Bogey movie photos and thematic touches. I presume that this reflects an earlier owner's homage to the '40s. The menu is pretty standard Mexican fare and the clientele included large hispanic families which can often hint at great food. Not the case here. The food was merely okay. The chile rellano was lightly battered and not greasy or oily as can be the case elsewhere so that was a plus. The tortillas are produced from dough rolled and direct onto the griddle before hitting your table - as in the other reviews - great stuff. But the sauces lacked substance and were bland. The cheese enchilada was a corn tortilla with some cheese covered in that bland sauce. One dish had to go back to the kitchen for all beans when it came to us as all rice so the service while friendly was not really paying attention. I would not bother with this fare and am surprised (and more than a little suspicious) by the ecstatic reviews.

If you love the film Casablanca, the time period and good choices, this is the place. Warm service and creative, delicious food. Wonderful tortillas and calamari especially but the beef is also a treat. Live music too.

Local, tourist, it doesn't matter. This is the best Mexican food west of Boyle heights! They make their tortillas from scratch (remember to tip Maria), their shrimp in garlic butter sauce will rock your world and the red cheese enchilada has to be dipped in contraband... I send all my surf and language students visiting from out of town. They are always pumped. Treat yourself, you can thank me later... :-)

You get the idea, right? In Venice, California you find Casablanca, one our favorites.Delicious Mexican brunch, omeletes, fajitas, good seleccion of calamari steaks, prepared to perfection...all this with delicious hand-made tortillas. Live music of romantic guitar songs.

Casablanca is a 15-minute walk from my apartment; my girlfriend and I have a monthly tradition of walking to Casablanca on a Sunday to partake in their awesome brunch. It never disappoints! For $13.99, you get an entree, bottomless sangria/Bloody Mary/champagne, and a small flan dessert. The menu is small - probably 12 items; between my girlfriend and I, we've tried almost every entree, and we've never had a bad one (I especially like the Huevos a la Mexicana). Their housemade tortillas are excellent (and insanely fresh!), and their avocado salsa in incredible. And the best part? It's NEVER CROWDED. One of the things I hate about LA is that every restaurant with good food (and plenty without) always has a long wait, especially on the weekends. I've never had to wait to be seated at Casablanca. Don't get me wrong; it's never empty. There's just always an open table or two. My brother was in town from Omaha last week, and I took him to Casablanca. He repeatedly remarked that he couldn't believe a place with food as good as Casablanca's didn't have a line out the door. The decor is funky (a TON of Humphrey Bogart memorabilia), the staff is friendly, and the service is quick. I highly recommend Casablanca to anyone who wants a good brunch.

We had such an awesome night at Casablanca. The restaurant is decorated perfectly. They have booths & normal table seating. We ate burrito's (huge serving) but the menu also features a lot of seafood. The handmade complimentary (unlimited) tortillas are the best we have had. They came with a great salsa & were made front of the customers. There was also live music. Absolutely loved the margaritas especially the table service from a cart that comes by making more drinks for you!!

Best Mexican restaurant ever. Every dish is an experience. The tortillas cooked at the moment are delicious and the tequila cart, is amazing. On my trip to California, I was there 2 times. The first day I arrived, and the last day.

This place has it all: weird off kilter decor, waiters in white shirts and bow ties, Spanish guitar players, a geezer with a margarita trolley doing the rounds and simply the greatest fish tacos in North America. You rule

Casablanca restaurant is the best Mexican restaurant in the country ! The food is amazing and the Margarita's are epic. After 30 years I'm still trying to find a better cuisine, My kids are now 29 and 30 and they still visit this unique restaurant, I took My wife here on our first date.

If you are hungry and have a huge appetite... Then this is the restaurant for you. First the deliciously tantalizing array of margaritas will set the mood for a lovely relaxing evening. Service is excellent and food is divine. Such large quantities but every dish prepared to an authentic and finger-licking delight. It made for a perfect last night for us in Los Angeles before returning home to Auckland.

Moroccan Casablanca theme, complete with Humphrey Bogart posters and Mexican food, make this a unique and enjoyable restaurant. Forget about chain restaurant corn chips from a bag and ketchup tasting salsa. Casablanca makes the tortillas on the spot and you immediately get fresh tortillas and this delicious green salsa with avocado pieces in it. This gives Los Angeles a good name. The salad, with fresh jicama, was also very good. The service was good and the prices reasonable. The location is not particularly glamorous, but don’t let that stop you. Margaritas were good. Strong recommendation for Casablanca.

If you’re a devotee of Rick Blaine and his den of resistance comrades at the Cafe Américain in the movie Casablanca, this is the gin joint. From a life-sized Humphrey Bogart and movie stills, posters and paraphernalia, this is a dinner and movie museum combined. You must remember this, as time goes by, that the best margaritas and selection of Mexican-Spanish fare is complimented by the trappings of perhaps the greatest film ever This could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

I heard about this place from a few friends and my boyfriend and I decided to try it out for ourselves. I was surprised by the "no frills" exterior, but as soon as the doors opened I knew this was the kind of vibe I LOVE - dark lighting, tequila expert providing tastings from a mobile cart around the restaurant, a guitar player, and a woman making fresh tortillas in the center of the space. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere topped it all off. I had the fajitas, but I can't image you could go wrong with any order here. Oh, and the service was phenomenal.

So. We went here last night for a business dinner and I was a little confused by the Hollywood Moroccan theme at what is clearly a Mexican restaurant, but the Margarita Express service quickly had me forgetting my befuddlement with the refreshing taste of an anejo margarita crafted table side. Since I bartended all through college, I'm a stickler for a margarita and like them with all fresh ingredients (no triple sec, etc.) and, although this wasn't quite as good as mine, it was pretty delish and the tequila selection for the price was fantastic. I ordered the Calamari Mojo de Ajo at my client's suggestion and was not disappointed with the fried squid steak in a butter cream sauce (I'm sure my butt was though). The sides left something to be desired but I'd already eaten my weight in the homemade tortillas, so I didn't really need them anyway. This is definitely being added to my list of "must visits" when I'm in WeHo from now on.

A Morrocan styled place, serving Mexican food. Very limited parking, some parking on Lincoln. We had no trouble getting into a booth with no reservations on a mid-week night. Waiting outside for one of our daughters to arrive, guets were being dropped off by taxi and limo. A place that's different. Rather than chips and salsa, warm handmade tortillas and sauce they're famous for. Looks like their specialities are Seafood and Tetquila (Margaritas). The Chili Rellano plate was great, best ever peppers cheese filled. Didn't care for the taste of the seafood enchillads, but OK.Beans and rice made inhouse, pretty good. Service is really great. Pricing is average, or very good condiserating this type of place. Rolling tequilla bar, cart service, didn't try, Ash Wednesday for us, but looked fantastic.

Good Food including fresh fish options, Nice atmosphere, Quick Service, Fresh Tortillas, Great Margarita selection, even tableside Bar Service.

Been driving by this place on visits to LA for years, finally persuaded the family to gather there for a celebratory dinner over the holidays. Lots of atmosphere. Once you get over the fact that it's now a Mexican restaurant and apparently has been for years. It could well be Moroccan or middle eastern by the decor, and there is lots of memorabilia from the film as well. Loved the Mexican seafood menu, and all 6 of us enjoyed what we ordered. There are homemade tortillas made in the dining room and delivered to the table with a yummy tomatillo dip. There was live music the night we were there as well. We called ahead because we were a large group, and were well received by the congenial host/owner when we arrived and seated in a comfy booth. We only had 3 dinners in LA this time, and no regrets this was one of them. Parking not too bad, either!

My aunties favorite restaurant, she's taken us there three times in the last year. I've always had something different each time, and this time i had the taco /enchilada combo, it was great! The fresh tortillas that they make goes great with the green salsa. The staff is always friendly and fast!

As soon as I come in I felt like as if I was in Mexico. Very comfortable ambience, and energetic staff. I ordered the steak tacos, it was amazing. Unfortunately, let's just say I tasted much better rice and beans. They had a vegetarian options. Overall they were great with their service. I would come back again.

Most unusual Restaurant covered with Photos of Humphrey Bogart from the movie Casa Blanca. It is very special. Then at about 7pm a single musician comes in to play the Piano or other instrument. There is someone making the Flour Tortillas which are is fresh as can be. There is a very active bar and a waiter comes around your table to make you different kinds of Margaritas. The before meal is some Flour Tortillas with a dip that is very good but hard to describe.

Been there many times, the food is great! All of it is fresh and tasty, Tequila bar is awesome. We went for a special occasion but a member of our party was suddenly ill once we were seated and we had to cancel our order, the staff was wonderful and supportive. They offered great service and they were very concerned about his well being. We highly appreciate this and we could recommend this restaurant 100%

Lunch Visit- Fajitas were super tasty, so were the green enchiladas, and the red cheeses enchiladas- There were three of us but we all agreed- excellent food at a great value. The hand made flour tortillas fresh off the grille with butter,,,,,,, what more do you need :)

When you see a white washed buildings, with sea blue trim, and the name of the restaurant is Casablanca, you aren't really thinking Mexican food. You are thinking Mediterranean, Moroccan, or maybe Berber, but not Mexican. Mexican it was, and it was really good. They have a lady there making homemade tortillas.. These tortillas are amazing. I can't remember when I had a better homemade flour tortilla. The rest of the menu is interesting. We had traditional tacos, enchiladas, queso, and chips. I was very happy with our choices. The peach margarita was fantastic.

Nice little place with SUPER yummy fresh made tortillas. The salsa verde was great too - very garlic-y. I had the chile relleno and enchilada which were both delish but not very spicy. I got some red salsa though that helped get some heat into the dish. The rice and beans were good too but way too much cheese (I know, there's never too much cheese - right?). The staff were excellent - always right there when you needed them and loved the margarita cart that came along. Nice touch. The ambiance was fun and campy - looks like you are right there on the movie set of Casabanca. Funny having a Moroccan theme serving Mexican food but somehow it all works! Would have given 5 stars but found the food a tad on the bland side (except the tortillas). Maybe they cater to more of a touristy crowd so they tone down the spice level. Still a great place!

We had a group of four that wanted something a little different for Mexican food. One of our group discovered Casablanca Restaurant online, and so we decided to go. What fun! The restaurant has free parking, which is always a plus in LA. They take reservations for groups of six or more, so we arrived at 6:15pm on a Friday evening to avoid a long wait, and were seated right away. We noted that the place filled up shortly after we arrived. The waiters were very attentive and helpful. Friendly, knew their menu, seemed to enjoy what they do. The service from start to finish was great. We had the tortilla appetizer, and it is wonderful. The green sauce served with the tortillas is tasty and not too spicy. They also served us chips and a delicious salsa. Three of us had a pitcher of house margaritas. We had the queso appetizer with churrizo - super. Three of us had the carne asada, which was tender and cooked to medium. The fourth had calamari. Everyone was delighted with their choice.

Casablanca is a great find if you are on the westside of LA. The best way to describe it is Mexican seafood with a flair. Great calamari steaks 8 difference ways, hand made tortillas, great atmosphere, and a margarita cart with many different tequilas and mixtures to choose from. Casablanca is my Go To place for out of town guests.

This place is very unusual. Everything is More there. The owner, Carlos, is wonderful and full of family stories. His father started this place and he had a great love for the film Casablanca and it’s star, ingrid Bergman. It is the running theme of the restaurant. They have a very very large selection of Tequilas. And I had the best one there: Nuda. The food is not traditional, eventhough they do serve it. We all had different dishes cooked on a brasero. Fish dishes, meat dishes… And last but certainly not least, the tortillas are made traditionnally, in the dining room and come warm to the table. This place was a discovery. I loved the unexpected ambiance, the food. And the excellent service.

This place has solid good food and great margaritas. Are there better places for Mexican food, yes, but can they live up to the dining experience? No. The service here is great, and the atmosphere is awesome. Every time we eat here, it always seems to be the start of a great evening! I don't know what it is, but its great. We came here with friends for their first time, they had a terrible day traveling, were tired, grumpy, not even really wanting to go out. We got here and after the first margarita, their moods were 180 degree difference. My friend got the mole chicken enchiladas which ive never tried, and took a bite and its what I am getting next time. We always enjoy the build your own tacos with their fresh made tortillas. Excellent quac and salsa's as well. You cant go wrong coming here. Full endorsement!

Very eclectic spot that takes you right back to the movie Casablanca! The artwork, the signage and even a life-size Humphrey Bogart which takes it completely over the top. I need to watch the film again but Casablanca is in Morocco (Africa) but they serve fresh Mexican food here. A woman is making fresh tortillas in a brick oven as you dine. Take pics of her for a tip! I enjoyed the fresh food, margaritas and attentive service. You were a short distance from the Venice Canals to walk off the meal. Try it out!

I recently had a popup dinner with 5 friends at the Mexican Seafood joint Casablanca in Venice. One of the girls in our party recommended we try it out after reading a few reviews. We got there and put our name in for a 30 minute wait, and had a few pitchers of margaritas at the bar. There were a few signature margaritas they offered and all were really amazing. The drinks were a little more than I'd have wanted to pay for ($26/30 per pitcher), but they were made with high end ingredients. Huge plethora of tequilas to choose from. While waiting, we got a kick out of the decor which is literally Casablanca. We sat under a large signed photo of Humphrey Bogart and display case filled with quirky tidbits. Kind of Indiana Jones esque. After being seated we were served super delicious tortillas and guac that were hand made on a hot stone griddle in the middle of the restaurant. Additionally a Margarita cart circled the restaurant and would fill you up as needed. I had seafood enchiladas, super delicious, but was kind of filled up after waiting a while and indulging on margaritas and tortillas. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. Only mishap, one in our group didn't get tortillas with her fish tacos. She had expected they would arrive pre-made, however it was a make your own. Took about 5 minutes longer for her to get tortillas. Great experience and I will return. I'd just recommend to make a booking so you don't have to wait long. Remember the margaritas are yummy but for me were pricey. Unique dining experience and friendly wait staff. Seems to get very busy on weekends.

My family took me to Casablanca for the second time. The food is fantastic, service is amazing and Chip is the best Margarita mare. So much fun, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Everyone should experience this icon.

I have never had tortillas this big in all my life!! The food was delicious, and the service outstanding. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you are in a different country. The sights and smells instantly transport you to Morocco! What a great place for a romantic dinner! The prices were reasonable, and the food quantity outstanding. You won't leave here hungry!

Love this lace just try to avoid peak hours or you will be waiting for a table. Drinks are very strong and good made to order.no sugar? Wow almost got so drunk before dinner waiting at bar no reservations. So.... anyways tortillas made on the spot incredible with great green tormatillo salsa and quest. Almost worth just the th or tolls and drinks. I love seafood basierio very nice poached seafood served over hot pot. Lots of yummy choices. Not crazy about mole dishes to heavy handed. Fajitas great. Big portions can share especially if you eat too many tortillas.

I'll keep it short as others have said it so much better. THE best fresh tortillas...made right in the dining room....melt in your mouth incredible goodness...you have NEVER had a tortilla until you've had these....would even be great for breakfast with butter and syrup. Calamari steaks...with a variety of sauces ...I like the shrimp and scallops with garlic....sooooo good....funky great atmosphere....and utterly lovely service...round out this great experience. Oh, and lest I forget the margarita cart!!!!!

This is a very good Mexican restaurant with good prices. It has many dishes and homemade tortillas. It also has an unusual Casablanca film motif from the 1940s film.

Excellent Mexican goof with great ambiance for Casablanca movie fans and those who don’t really remember what it’s all about.

Great atmosphere, good drinks a bit too much alcohol for my taste. Very eclectic menu. Food was good but a bit too bland. Service correct but hurried. Would come back for the bar scene.

We've been coming to Casablanca wayyyyy before TripAdvisor was even around. I feel bad never leaving a review considering how many times we've been here. It's basically one of our "go to" places for good ol' comfort food. Not talking gourmet, $$$$ food - this is when you don't feel like all that pretense you won't have trouble finding in this part of town. Let's start with the Margaritas. Next to the margaritas at Gilbert's El Indio in Santa Monica, my favorite margarita in LA is the Bogart at Casablanca - yes named after Humphrey Bogart. I personally can't stand Grand Marnier in margaritas which is why I like the Bogart - it's mixed with Cointreau. Make sure you order a pitcher of it for max $$$ savings. They've also got a full tequila bar with over 100 different labels. Can't forget the tortilla girl. She is always slaving over the fire pit in the middle of the room, hand making the unlimited tortillas that come to your table. Dip them in the cheese verde sauce that they bring with it. I don't think tortillas anywhere beat the ones at Casablanca. There is usually a guitar man playing live music most weeknights and weekends - don't forget to tip him! Friday nights they have Albondigas soup (meatballs) and Wednesday nights are cactus soup. If you opt for a salad, don't forget to try it with their famous tequila dressing. My favorite dish is the filet mignon brasero - served in a clay pot over a candle. They also specialize in different types of calamari dishes - my favorite being the "calamar tequila". They've got a great selection of burritos although I always get the "Sam" burrito. No reservations needed but if you show up on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared to wait!

Memorabilia everywhere make the restaurant very unique. we had to queue to get a table but we could wait at the bar drinking Margaritas. My calamari steak was good but the warm tortillas made by the lady in the centre of the room were unforgettable.

A quaint little restaurant with a couple of ladies cranking out fresh tortillas to die for... Service was good, a roaming tequila cart and good food.

We went with friends for the "best brunch in southern california"... growing up in southern california my standards for mexican food are relatively high, and I was disappointed to find that the food here was at best average. I ordered huevos rancheros, the eggs were well prepared, the refried beans were similar to the kind you can get from a can, same for the salsa. No guacamole served with the plate. My husband got a chorizo omlette which we both found average at best. Flour tortillas prepared by a woman in the middle of the room, rolled by hand and bubbles on the flat top grill are a definite highlight. They come to you nice, hot and doughy. Another highlight are bottomless mimosas, bloody mary's, or cheap champagne, Perhaps my meal was average because I wasn't drinking, I got a watery coke with mostly ice and in 3 hours only managed to secure 1 refill. Service was a low point-- consistently absent and very slow despite getting up to ask for more tortillas, drinks, etc multiple times. Overall, I think that heavy drinking must be the key to an enjoyable meal. I don't think I will be coming back any time soon.

Casablanca is on Lincoln Boulevard in Venice. Its menu is oriented toward Mexican with several seafood dishes and then a range of other items that seemed a little odd for a Mexican restaurant. But, there is certainly something for everyone. The atmosphere is cozy and the woman making tortillas was interesting to watch. Dinner items were good - not great but not bad. The most interesting aspect is the amount of pictures, items and all around tributes to Casablanca, Humphery Bogart and Ingrid Bergman that I have ever seen in a Mexican restaurant. Good location. Easy parking.

We have eaten at this restaurant half a dozen times. The best part of this restaurant is the free handmade tortillas. You can watch a woman rolling and baking flour tortillas over a brick oven. As soon as you get seated, you are presented the best hot, soft, and delicious flour tortillas in the world! They are served with a green sauce with chunks of cheese, avocados, and onions. Absolutely not to be missed. We ordered Calamar al Mojo de Ajo (tender calamari steak with garlic butter), Shrimp Cocktail (shrimp was good, but the cocktail sauce was too watery and bland), Oasis Chicken Burrito with Green Mole Sauce, Shrimp Ceviche Tostada, Pacific Red Snapper al Mojo de Ajo (fish with garlic butter). Many of the entrees came with either rice and vegetables or rice and beans. The entrees were pretty good (except for the shrimp cocktail). If you go to this restaurant, definitely try the tortillas and calamari steak.

Sunday Brunch was out of this world, I would highly recommend it. $15.99 for bottomless sangria or champagne with an entree and dessert. Fajitas were huge, as was the carne asada. I will be returning.

Food was good, atmosphere was very good, takeoff of movie theme. Margaritas made table side, live music

They don't take reservations here and there is a 20 min at least wait but so worth it. The homemade tortillas are to die for as well as the Margaritas. The food is scrumptious, highly recoomend

The theme restaurant used to be more common in the LA of my childhood. I remember a restaurant called Poor Richard's that was designed for kids, and we'd beg my dad to take us there. The Casablanca is a seafood-based Mexican restaurant done up like Rick's Cafe Americain from the movie. The food is terrific, the tortillas are made on a large griddle in the center of the restaurant, and the table side margarita service is great. A friend of mine who lives in the neighborhood introduced me to it, and I'm a convert now.

We were a small group and the Mexican food was good and generous, and the bill was very reasonable. The atmosphere is great and the staff were friendly. I would recommend this restaurant.

They have an amazing catering service! Have been using them for over 13 years and not only are they on time, the food is fresh, tastes great and they have a large selection to choose from If you ever go to the restaurant the tortilla's are the best I have ever tasted. They make them right there.

Seriously, everything was good with our meal. Prompt service, tasty margraritas, good food... but the highlight of the meal is definitely the fresh made tortillas. They are fantastic - and delivered hot to your table with a side of salsa verde. I personally could have made a meal out of them - but alas I ordered one of their calamari dishes with tomatoes and peppers - which was excellent. A friend ordered the calamari dish with the crab and shrimp, and that was to die for. The food was abundant so we had plenty to take home - and best surprise of all, it still tasted great reheated the next day! We will definitely come back to Casablanca when we are next in LA.
The calamari dishes are wonderful.
The calamari dishes are wonderful. I had the Calamari Acapulco. I have never had a pounded calamari steaks but I am now a huge fan. Then there are the hand made tortillas that melt in your mouth. Instead of chips and salsa they serve you home made (you can see them making them) tortillas with a mild tomatillo, avocado, cheese salsa that adds just the perfect flavor. A friend had the combo enchiladas and she thought the chicken was great but the steak was tough. The atmosphere is almost touristy but it has lots of character and the table side margaritas are the bomb!
