Being a huge sour beer fan, I very much enjoyed this spot. They have a variety of sour beers to taste - pumpkin spice was a favorite! Their food was also delicious and the service was great. If you're visiting Portland and you're a fan of sour beer - make time to stop here!

Start off with I am by myself…. Walked in and the bartenders were really great. The first thing they asked is….. would you like a water? I thought that was really cool seeing that you walk most everywhere you go.

If you love sour beers then this place is for you! I went in with an open mind, but they were just a little too much for me. The best ones were the strawberry/more fruity flavors. I did enjoy the outdoor tables because the weather was nice. We didn't try the food but most things coming out of the kitchen looked good, but nothing special. The service could also use a positive boost. They also only let you try 2 or 3 at a time I forget so make sure you pick wisely!

If you like sour beers, this is the brewery for you! Friendly staff and great ambiance. Would highly recommend!

This is definitely a House of Sour Brews. If you like sours, you will not be disappointed! This was my first time getting a flight of sour at a brewery, but the selection was fantastic. From dark to light, there is a sour on the menu for even a first time taster!!

these are the best sours I've ever had! really great service from everyone their. they are very helpful and friendly. would definitely return.

We came here specifically for the collection of sour beers and left without any regrets. The food is a bit underrated, as they do offer a collection of fresh food that compliments the beers well. The seating area is nice, offering plenty of outdoor spots. Even when sitting "indoors" you feel as though you're outside with the large doors opened up. Service was good. However, the star of the place is the BEER. The sours here are world class, offering great flavors of apricot, blueberries, under-ripe fruit, and a great array of full lactic tart. You can sample 2 at a time and they offer a wide selection to purchase, even some from their vintage collection. This is a must stop for any sour beer aficionados.

We tried 8 different beers (their 2Oz size is good for that), all of which were very "special", but I would not necessarily go for a larger size

This is one of my favorite breweries in the U.S. They have a huge selection of sour beers fresh from the barrel. They also have a great to-go bottle selection. If you like sour beers or are curious to try one, try this place, they are one of the best at making them! Oh...and the food was pretty damn good too.

Beer sampling at it's finest. Everything I tasted was delicious, my wife loved it. "Beer cheese soup" is unreal. So so good. The Ruben was very tasty. Fun environment. Wait staff super friendly and very knowledgeable with the beers. The menu also has suggested pairings.

the Apricot is phenomenal. amazing how much flavor they can pack into that beer. figaro was quite delectable as well. Blueberry was a bit too sweet for me. service was great even when busy with one server. be prepared to spend some money, but if you are into sour beers, it is well worth it.

I'd been told once you enter Cascade, you'll never want to leave. Even if you're skeptical about sour beers, Cascade will convince you otherwise. We tried several different sample pours, each more interesting than the other. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and helpful with selections. Beer connoisseurs will be in heaven. When you're in Portland, make Cascade a must-see.

While visiting Portland on a whim I used the internets to look up "sour beer, PDX" and what a delight to have this place pop up. My wife and I tasted 10 sours overall and loved some and could pass on others. But what a delightful way to spend a warm spring evening on a patio.

This place was on our list while we were traveling to the West Coast. We got there right when it opened! We tried almost all of the beers on the list, great sample sizes for like $2! My favorite was the HoneyCot, it was delicious! All of them were very good. I also loved the "live barrels" beers. Awesome beers, wish we had something like this in NJ!

Great selection of fruited sour beers, they offer ciders and an IPA to those who don’t favor the sour spectrum. Their food choice is limited but offers tasty cheeses, soups, salads and sandwiches

Such a great spot to sit outside and sip on some sour beers. Figaro was my favorite, but after tasting each beer on their list, I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Their soft pretzel is also the bomb. Also in walking distance to a bunch of other great places, so I would recommend making a walking tour of it.

Four of us stopped here on a trip to Portland, and were eager to sample their sour beers. We didn't really know where to start though, so the waiter suggested we sample ALL of them (20), which would be the equivalent of 2 beers each. Good enough! He started us at the top of the sour beer menu, bringing the samples out in batches. The menu is arranged from lightest to darkest, more or less. My personal favorites were Strawberry, Honeycot, and Chocolate Bourbonaise. One person in our party (who doesn't like fruit combined with things) refused to drink anymore after the first batch of eight, so if you're not a fruit person these probably won't be to your taste. We ordered some bar food while we were enjoying the sours; a charcuterie plate, and beer & cheese soup. The soup was good, and the charcuterie was excellent.

Wow- tons of sours and all of them were great. They have a handful of other types of beers but those are the definite specialty here. TVs inside and ample seating outside. Nice change of taste in the typical microbrewery palette.

We were lucky enough to find this bar through a Portland brewery tour, and we were glad it had been recommended to us. They offer sampler size (2oz) beers so you can try a few different flavors. They really excel at their fruit beers. In addition, the menu includes a number of eclectic food choices and they have pairing suggestions as well.

If you like sour beer please go. Amazing selection of sours along with some IPA, IRA and coffee stout. Service is great, beer is even better and it's a heck of an experience.

We were visiting Portland for President's Day weekend and since we heard that the beer scene is big here, Cascade was one of the places on our list to check out. We got there at around 1:45 on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too packed, but started getting a bit more crowded when we left at around 2:30. We only had beer and we ordered the Pear sour (since they're known for their sour beers, and the Easy Rider flight, which is 4 oz each of: -Portland Ale: Blond Ale brewed with German Pilsner malt & Northern Brewer hops. 4.9% / 14 IBU -Cascade IPA: India Pale Ale brewed with Cascade and Amarillo hops. 6.2% ABV / 50 IBU -Makin' Money Moves: Bourbon barrel aged imperial milk stout with lactose, pecans and vanilla. 9% ABV / 29 IBU I'm not sure if I tasted much pear in the sour. As for the flight, my favorite was probably the Portland Ale, even though I normally prefer stouts. The ale was very refreshing. The other two were just okay, but I also don't really like IPAs. We realized after the fact that we could have just ordered 4 oz pours of the beers we actually wanted to try, and it would cost the same as a flight - so there really is no benefit to ordering a flight here. If you like sour beers, this place might be for you as they do seem to have pretty unique flavors that rotate. But if you're looking for regular beers, I'm sure you can find something better out there.

Dropped in for lunch right after arriving in Portland. The menu is not long, but very tasty, with sharing plates, salads, sandwiches and specials. The staff was very friendly and ready to help us with our naive beer questions - but that did translate into a long wait for the beer, as he was just as long with other tables. The food - fig and pesto panini, octopus salad and the chicken royale sandwich - all arrived before our tasters of 4 of the many, many sour beers that they have to sample. Sadly, it turns out that sour beers were not our thing (should have tasted one before getting 5), but the IPA was delicious. The chicken sandwich was particularly stellar. I would certainly say that this was worth the visit - but sample gently before jumping in with both feet!

I always recommend this place to clients because they have such a unique menu of beers. There's a huge patio so it's great to chill outside, but the inside was extremely modern, lacking character and very crowded. They don't have a very good system as far as ordering. If you sit outside you have to stand in a huge line to order and be in the way of everyone. There is no outside service. We had some appies, which were interesting and tasty, but the menu is small.

This place found its niche in Oregon. We're not big fans of sours, but nonetheless this place had interesting sours (intriguing). We had reuben and the dark chocolate bourbon balls. Staff was nice. If you love sours this is the place.

Went to cascade by myself to taste some sour beers, and was not disappointed. Very casual place, interesting beers, and friendly staff. Did not eat, so I cant comment.

This was my first time visiting a brewery that specializes in sour beers. I was surprised at the number of beers I enjoyed from the selection. My favorites were the Honey Ginger Lime and Frite Gaulois. My boyfriend, who is a sour beer connoisseur, enjoyed the Chocolate Bourbonic, which is a spice double porter aged in bourboun barrels. The food at the brewing house also deserves praise. I ordered the Ham Gruyere and Sweet Pickle, which was excellent. The potato salad and the pickled vegetables on the side were a great addition to the dish. I plan to visit again next time I'm in Portland!

I love sour beers so I was always going to enjoy a visit to this venue. The staff were knowledgable and helpful and aided me with some advice in choosing some tasters to sample their range. Belmont is a busy street but it was still enjoyable sitting outside in some Speing subshine.

My husband and I were on vacation and it was recommended by locals that we stop at Cascade if we like sour beers. My husband has never seen a selection quite like this. The staff is knowledgeable and gave great descriptions of the beers. We would definitely recommend this brewery.

In any other brewery in the area you may ask to try a sample of the beer before committing to a full pint. Not here. Be prepared to pay 2.00 bucks minimum to taste the beer you buy a pint of. I paid 2.00 for the taste and 5.00 for the pint, not cool.

Went there and the menu is more for the wine tasters than beer tasters...if sour beer is your preferance then have fun here. The servers were stand-offish and it's a very sterile enviroment. Not very welcoming.

Cascade Brewing has a reputation for excellent sour beers. I was on a pilgrimage through PDX for beer purposes and this stop seemed necessary. The place was packed and it took a while to get seated, but once there I was able to experience the reason behind their following. They had a version of Vlad the Impaler aged on cherries that blew my brains out. Word of caution: some of their aged beers have upwards of 14% ABV, so be prepared

Came here one afternoon to meet a friend that was here visiting from out of town. IF you're someone that enjoys sour beers, this is for you. I've yet to find one that is something I really like, it's just not for- but I have friends that would probably love the beers here. They've got a pretty good menu here as well. Our server may have been hungover, she wasn't the friendliest and almost seemed annoyed while asking for our order which was very awkward. Another good thing though is how much outdoor seating they have, but it is right in the front on the street. Easy street parking all around. Again, this is a place for sour beers and stouts, so that's the kind of crowd I would recommend to go here!

Home of sour beers and good food. Rotating menu with local specials. Have a keg tapping ceremony weekly with beer tasting to follow. In the summer there is a patio out front that is large and pleasant.

Cascade Barrel does an great job concocting sour beers. The flavors are out of this world! It is fun to pick different tasters to select your favorite. There is a small fee per taster, but well worth it. On Tuesday at around 6 they Tap a new flavor. It is a great to be there for that event. Make sure to taste their pickled veggies made in-house. Great food to go with the beer.

Great sours, nice patio. Service was average - the server did not appear to know all that much about beer but she got our orders right. We had the bread, roasted garlic, etc to fill our tummy's from all the drinking we had been doing. It was fine.

Barrel aging and sour beers are the name of the game here at Cascade Barrel Brewing and one cannot help but be impressed. Beers lovers will be more then impressed with the range of flavors and complexities that can come out of these beers. Unfortunately, if you cannot get down with the sour, you'll miss some of their best work, but they do serve up a few straight beers (IPA, pale ale, etc) and some barrel aged stouts and the like. I would not mark this only for the beers lovers, though. This is for those with a sense of adventure in taste because most of these do not meet your normal beer tastes. Be warned, though, these beers don't come cheap and they are often high in alcohol. So your body and wallet will thank you if you take it easy. So while in Portland, I encourage trying a range of breweries, some putting out solid beers for decades and those that leave you with that "wow." Pull a seat up to the bar or on a nice day hang at their outside tables and get ready for a wow.

I'll admit it. Before going to Cascade - I only liked sours. Well, let me tell you, after leaving Cascade - I LOVE sours! (And that's not just the post sours buzz talking!) We stopped here for a tasting on our May trip to Portland. The atmosphere is so fun! Tables made out of barrells add to the charm of the room. We went on a beautiful day, and there was outdoor seating as well. One of my favorite features of doing the tasting at Cascade is that you pick what you want to taste. They have a menu that has about 15 or so different beers and they are in the order that is recommended for tasting. You can pick and choose what you want to taste, which I love because even though I love beer, occasionally I will get a dud in a tasting tray. Hey, it happens, right? There were no duds at Cascade. The sours and fruit tarts were all so delicious! They have a magician in the back who can balance the fresh fruit flavors with just the right amount of pucker. So refreshing! Cascade is definitely on my list of must see breweries in Portland.

We went to Cascade just for drinks. Every beer we had was incredible. If you buy these beers at a liquor store, they likely cost you $30+ but the tasters were very reasonable. Most of the time people don't want more than a few tastes, so it's perfect! It's in a great neighborhood and we had great service. Definitely worth the trip!

Sours have recently become my favorite and most sought style. With this in mind, although I had bookmarked a plethora of Portland breweries, I knew that Cascade was one I couldn't miss. And yet, I had no idea. Succinctly, Cascade is sour heaven. They even have a sign that reads, "House of Sour." Indeed. I usually opt for tasters on my first visit to a brewery. The menu says you can order up to four per person at a time. I put my faith in our server and let him pick my four. The result was Noyaux, Kriek, Blackcap Raspberry, and Sang Noir. Noyaux and Kriek were great. Blackcap Raspberry was decent. Sang Noir? Absolutely terrific! In contrast, my girlfriend does not like the sours. She says it reminds her of natto, which is strange because it's one of her favorite foods. Anyway, she went with Apricot Ale, Honey Ginger Lime, and Oblique B&W Coffee Stout. I didn't care for the Apricot. The Honey Ginger Lime was very good with the honey and ginger being very prominent. Finally, the Oblique was quite excellent. A tasty pale stout with a very pronounced coffee flavor. While Russian River's Consecration is still my favorite sour, Cascade has them beat by way of variety. Most of their menu seems to be sours, upholding their House of Sour mantra. The patio is very large and was definitely the right choice on a mild summer August evening. The location is easily reachable with ample street parking in the area. There is even a goat field across the road (though I read they are moving soon). We left Cascade with a bottle of Figaro, a couple of t-shirts, and the knowledge that I will most certainly be back.

If you enjoy Belgian sours, this place is for you! Taste the dizzying array they offer on a picnic bench (weather permitting) and allow the friendly staff to recommend a few funky options.

I didn't eat here the food was a little to hippy for my taste but I sure as hell drank the sour brew and I couldn't get enough. I tried several kinds and enjoyed almost every one I tried. I wish there where more sour beer places around. If you are looking to swill some good stuff that's not your run of the mill brew I would recommend this place all day. Try the sampler if you can't decide or ask one of the servers they are very helpful.

The beers are good, and the staff is excellent at helping make selections. If I were just rating on those two factors this place would be a 5. However, the pretzel, although tasty, was so small it would’ve been funny if I hadn’t been looking forward to a normal sized pretzel. It’s small. Super small. As long as you know this maybe you’ll feel okay about it. I didn’t, so I feel like I paid 6.50 for a pretzel that was less than half the size I expected.

The place was pretty packed when we arrived but before too long we got a spot at the bar. Love the fact that you can do tasters and sample whatever you want!! After sampling quite a few delicious beers we decided on an 8oz of the sang royal and a special hot brew with muddled orange and clove that the bartender recommended... Yum!! Also try the sang noir!!

My expectations were zero, but I very much enjoyed this place. They were very helpful in describing all the different types of sour beer that they had. I ended up liking a couple of them. I also hated the others, but it's all personal preference. Their imperial stout was absolutely to die for. I'm lucky to have tried it. The service was better than average. They really know their beer.

Awesome brewery, literally came everyday while staying in Portland. If you are a sour beer fan, then definitely come to Cascade. They have a wide selection of great tasting sours, most have a 2oz, 4oz, and 8oz option. Their drink menu does change. They also have good food, love their kale caesar wrap. My only critique would be that they do not let you sample the sours, you have to buy 2oz glasses to buy them which can make it hard for a sour lover and can get add up. Nonetheless, great beer. I also ended buying 4 bottles of Sours to bring back to California. Will definitely return to Cascade Brewery and recommend this to place to people.

I am not a sour beer person, but my friends are and to support them, I went along and we had a great time at Cascade Brewing!! Lots and lots of sours that the girls enjoyed and I loved the Chardonnay that I ordered - very fresh and yummy. The wait staff was quite knowledgeable and steered all of us in the right direction when we ordered. We so appreciated it!! Wonderful place to try, friendly atmosphere and a great time.

They have shaded outdoor seating so that's always a plus. The service was great. The beers were good and I appreciated that they had a large 'fill your own glass of water' canteen outside.

We really enjoyed coming here. If you are into real beer, from sours to ciders, stop here..and stay a while! Flights ready for take off! Beer lovers must stop.try the ginger lime beer if available.

Generally, most people go for the sours but they have other options too. I recommend doing sampler sizes of beers, just to moderate a little bit, because there are so many to try that are fantastic.

We enjoyed a delicious sour flight. The setting was awesome. Love the tables. The in your face taste of beers was excellent

Craft beer and friendly staff. Limited menu but good for putting a little something in your stomach while you drink. Nice outdoor space and cool tasting room. Easy cab ride from the convention center, I would highly recommend this brewery!

you must go here! They made the best sour beer I have had that is US made. It should be a stop for everybody that loves beer. Their menu looked really good, although I never had any food. Just not enough time to try everything...

We found this place while visiting Portland. Our first visit was for dinner. We'd not tried sours before so that was an added treat. We had their muffuletta. That was great but too much so it became a breakfast in the hotel room two days later (we had a refer in the room.) I had a stout while my wife had a four glass sample of their sours. She loved them and me too. On our last night we just went for the beers and brought two bottles (think wine sized) of the beer we likes the most. Sadly, when we got home it was not a good. Don't know if it was a different batch, did not like the drive home, or what. Parking is nearby, we were able to park right in front. Still, a great place to try sours. And they told us there is a sours brewery only 5 miles from home in So Cal.

I had several sours here and they were fantastic. I had the apricot 2016 and it was really nice and tarty. Somewhat on the lighter side but still very good. The manhattan was fantastic and fuller than the apricot. The cake, however, goes to the blueberry 2016. I actually had a bottle of this and it just kept getting better and better. Thicker and a nice level of tart. The more it sat the better it got. It actually got nice and creamy towards the end. The chianti was pungent and dry, though not in a bad way. The Brie takes the cake on this one. Very creamy and robust. Loved this place.

This was my first real introduction to the world of sour beers. I was instantly an addict and have been searching for something comparable since. This place had wonderful atmosphere and great service. We ran through several flights and even enjoyed their non-sour options. Great brewery and definitely worth a return visit.

Definitely come here if you enjoy sour beers and many with fruit flavors. Big variety. Friendly staff. We disliked the beer, but we don't care for sour beers. The hibiscus-Meyer lemon flavored beer on their "non-sour traditional" list was still too sour for my taste. I should have known a lemon beer couldn't be anything but. Food and nice outdoor patio. We didn't order food, but it looked good.

You definitely must try the beer and cheese soup...was so tantalizing!! Not really my style of beer but I really enjoyed all the little tasters...I like to try new stuff so this made it convenient! I would for sure go back!

This place is a good example of how elite Portland has become because this place only serves extremely expensive brews such as $12 for 8oz. If you can afford it, try it out. If you think it's expensive, don't plan on drinking elsewhere for cheap either. These hours are for sipping anyway, so $20 is more than enough to enjoy 6 different pours. That's a great deal actually

The Sour selection is fabulous! A little on the expensive side but sours are all typically a little more. We will go back in the summertime, indoor seating is limited. Overall great experience!

I am not a fan of sour beers. They did have a couple of barrel aged stouts that were very good. The bartender r even found one sour that my wife and I both enjoyed.

We lived in PDX and this was a staple, now that we've moved away we DEFINITELY make sure that we hit it up anytime we are back. Fabulous small plates, yummy cheese, and the beer ... delightful. Of only my new home city of reno could get up to speed on this sour beer phenom, I'm truly obsessed. Fun in the summer to sit outside and watch Portland go by! Oh Kriek how I miss you!

We stumbled upon one of their beers a few years back and knee we need to visit them if ever in Portland. We were more than satisfied with the selection and what we tried. While we where there it was their barrel aged week., so made the experience that much better. We ordered 2 beers at a time, they had a great menu, that had very accurate flavor profiles listed. Plus the staff was also very knowledgeable and helpful. They also has an amazing kitchen, we got the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with potato salad snd side of sour pickles.

I work in the beer industry and love sour beers ... this place sour beer heaven. They had great food too ... sandwiches, apps that go great with the beers.

Nice ambiance, packed place. I really don't enjoy sours but the folks I was traveling with surely did. They had good comments and evaluations.

Sours aren't usually my choice of beer but this was a great place to do a sampler and get a good idea of what a sour is. Unique flavors to temp the tastes. Sours is the main thing on the menu so if you are looking for another type of beer I would pick another brewery.

If you like sours you have to stop at Cascade Barrell House. Nothing short of world class NW style sours. Everyone was amazing but my favorites were the honey ginger lime and sang noir.

This place is fun. Beer is good and the sour offerings that they are known for are interesting and educational for sure. Have a couple of sour tastings to see what it's all about. The food is great. We had the muffuletta sandwich - awesome and the hummus, crackers and veggie plate. The hummus was guacamole hummus and was excellent with the tasty crackers and raw veggies for dipping. Service was solid. Great place to visit.

I knew the Cascade Brewing Barrel House was expensive. It makes some of the most exotic fruit and sour beers in the USA. But $4 for a quarter pint is going too far. They could import even better beers from Belgium cheaper. I and another visitor from the UK went there - it was her first trip to Portland, so I showed her some of the more interesting places, including microbreweries. Despite being a 'posh' high end place that also does expensive snacks, they had two TVs on showing soap operas, and rock music playing. The kind of music bar staff play when they want to hint that they are trying to close. But it was only about 8 pm. I wouldn't recommend it.

This place was our first stop in Portland and it was the right choice. We had a bunch of samplers of live from the barrel, non sours and then ventured into the sours. Try them, they're really unique and awesome! We asked the waitress where to go next and two servers came and sat down to ask us what we like and gave us a whole list of places to eat and visit. Don't miss this place- beer and service were unbelievable!!

I'm not much of a sour fan but I did enjoy the selections that our server offered. Try the lemon, ginger and lime - one of THE best beers I've had. I would definitely return and continue to develop my appreciation of this style of beer.

OK - I know I have my own likes and dislikes when it comes to tap rooms and breweries. I also know that TRENDINESS is a major turn off for me. And, I do have a taste for the sour beers of Belgium and SOME of those being turned out by our advanced brewers in the USA. But, Cascade Barrel House, while having some darn good sour brews, is pushing the whole hip, trendy concept a little too far for me. From the so-cool interior and furnishings to the annoying hip-hop music on the sound system, it just detract from the beer - which is what a barrel house SHOULD be all about. I had a few tasters and then high-tailed it back across the street to the green Dragon. Sorry Cascade...it might be OK for some, but not to me.

I came to visit my family in Portland and my cousin took me to Cascade because he said that I had to try their beer. We ordered tasters of all the different kinds of beer we wanted to try and it's hands down they were some of the best alcohol beverages I've ever tasted. It's a little bit pricey, but completely worth it. The atmosphere of the bar is very relaxed so it's a good place to go if you're looking for a more quiet night. Since I've been home, I've been trying to look for good sour beer, but nothing compares to Cascade. Their beer is hard to come by so if you're in Portland, this place is a definite must try.

I have been stopping here on the way back from business trips in Bend for ages and it is always solid. Quality brews and decent, well priced pub food served quickly.. The veggie burger with mushrooms today was as good as any other I have had. Easy access from Hwy 97.

We went to Cascade just for the sours, we heard from folks in Portland it was the place to have the best brews. I must admit to be fond of sours and like the Russian River style. Most of Cascades seemed more sweet then sour. It was a low keyed spot, we enjoyed being out side with our bears. Service was a bit slow.

The sour beers are delicious! If sours are not your thing, then they have several other options to choose from.

This is another hipster style micro- brewery. The beers are good and there are good snacks/ sandwiches/ salads available. It gets busy in after 4 but people are always coming and going. They allow kids which is nice. You need to find street parking. This part of town is slightly less crowded than Pearl City. Come here for the beer and food. Don't expect restaurant service. BTW- they will ask you for your credit card when you order.

This brew house specializes in sour beers. I tried a few different beers. Some were not too bad. I guess I'm just not a fan of sour beer. Most taste like a dry red wine or medicine. There are tv's to watch sports. Did not try the food. After trying 5 brew houses this weekend I can say this was my least favorite.

A mecca for sour beer lovers! Their tap list is extensive and it is possible to sample them all in one evening! Nice set up with a big patio.

We tried to go to as many breweries and sample beer as we could. This place offered beers like no other place. I had never had sour beer and liked it. We tried 6 beers and liked all of them. The atmosphere is just go but go for the beer!

A big selection of great beers nice sours food looked good but had meal plans elsewhere Very nice place to meet friends

If you like beer...beer, not fruit and vinegar you won't be crazy about this place. Great atmosphere and venue but I really didn't like the beer. Incredibly sweet with a strong sour finish on the few we tried...the Secret Agent Orange was basically like drinking apple-cider vinegar straight up.

Expansive patio seating on booming Belmont, snarky PNW-style service, and an imaginative tap list of predominantly barrel-aged sour beers with beautifully robust flavors sure to delight any pallette. Don't be dissuaded if you are not a huge fan of sours, they also have plenty of lagers, IPA's and other varieties to choose from, albeit a bit pricier since your purchasing high quality craft beer found nowhere else. $8 per 8oz pour, $2 per 2oz taster is pretty average price range here. Furthermore, they got a decent menu of locally sourced cuisine that takes pub/bar foods a few steps beyond what you'd expect. Gotta love a pretzel with cheese n mustard dip! Delicious Krieks, Bramble Berry was not too tart...only pure deliciousness, Ginger Lime a pleasant surprise, and the seasonal Peach infusion pretty lovely too. Happy with all my tastes today! Staff is great, location pretty prime, and selection top notch! Stop by today and you won't regret it! Thanks as always! Best, ~S

Excellent quality artisanal beers with tasty small plates. Low key friendly environment. We were impressed by the new offerings and jealous of the locals.

Come here for a beer tasting experience! I'm a woman of a certain age that has never liked the taste of beer. My nephew said he could change my mind about that, and he did. I'd never heard of 'sour beer', and the sound of it didn't help when he talked me into beer tasting at Cascade. What a surprise - I loved it! Sour beers can taste like sparkling wines - I especially loved the Manhattan sour beer. You each order two 2 oz glasses of your choice at a time and compare them. The staff is very helpful with suggestions - I told our server that I didn't like 'oaky' wines, and he pointed me in the right direction. They have an indoor tavern and an outdoor patio with umbrellas in the summer as well as a food menu. This was so much fun - I highly recommend it!

Huge selection of sour beers. Got to try a bunch and liked them all. The charcuterie and cheese plate was also a good accompaniment to the beers.

Cascade's sour beers are to die for. Make sure you get the $2 tasters and check out their wide variety of brews. The food was decent too. Check this place out for sure.

I loooove this place First visit and I am coming back I do not have to drive to bend for sour beers anymore ! Good food but honestly the beer was killer It smelled and tasted excellent - like it's name Staff was friendly and efficient

You go here for the beer (which is amazing)...took almost thirty minutes to get anyone to stop at our table. Ended up just going to the bar to try and get a beer. Eventually got food and everything was good/excellent.

This was the second place we visited on our mini brew tour, its a really cool building we sat at the bar but they had all the front open so it gives it an outdoor feel, The bar staff we really friendly I'd never tried sours before so we went for a selection of tasters it was interesting. I would differently recommend getting a taster selection. try a bit of everything

If you enjoy sour beers and a knowledgeable staff, this is the place for you. You can try two samples at a time instead of a larger flight, but the service is excellent and you can keep ordering smaller beers or get 8 oz if you want.

On our tour of all (or most) of the breweries in Portland, Cascade was on the list and recommended. We do love sours so knew we would be in good company here. We both ordered the warm mulled beer, which was very unique to us. I have had Mulled Wine before but never beer, it came quick and piping hot. The taste was very good and reminiscent of Mulled Wine. We also ordered a few small bites which came quick and were tasty. Some of theirs beers are more expensive than your typical beer but it's craft beer. Come check out Cascade, nice tap room as well.

I came with a group of 14 people on a Saturday night and I have to say, the staff was incredible with our party. There aren't any big-party tables, but they had no issue with all of us squeezing around one of the larger round tables. They were extremely efficient and attentive. The selection of sours is unmatched anywhere in the NW and let me tell you, they are delicious! They also have tasters if you'd rather taste a variety of different sours (I had 6 tasters rather than 1 or 2 full-sized beers). We did not order any food because we had already eaten at a food truck before arriving, but the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked very tasty. Also, it is family-friendly and minors are allowed all day.

Amazing selection of sour beers. Inventive and unique. Great bartender: attentive service of knowledgeable of selections. They had other stuff too if you're not into sours, but we are and went specifically for that. A bit pricey, but we did take advantage of the $2 tasters to get a broader selection.

I think this was our favorite beer scene in all of Portland. The staff was really attentive and you can tell they are passionate about their beers. We sat at the bar, but had it been nice outside, we would have sat outside because they have great seating outdoors. Inside is equally cool and spacious. We sampled just about all of the beers and at $2-$3 per sample, it's totally worth it and you can share with a date. Our favorites were: Noyaux, Vlad the Imper Ale, the Honeyed Comb and their 2 non-sour beers the Anti-Bourbonic and the Anti-Vlad Imper Ale. We came there not thinking we were sour beer fans, based on past sour beer experiences, and left as new fans with excitement. We were just disappointed that we couldn't take a growler home of the Honeyed Comb. We later returned in January with friends. Again, we had a great experience. Let me be clear, I really don't like sour beer and yet I love their beers! If you want a different experience in Portland, definitely stop by.

Awesome spot!!! Incredible (world-class!) selection of beers! A sour beer heaven. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Sour beer is their game and they do it very well. Their food was a nice change from typical brewery food as well. Cold sandwiches with a slight theme of cajun. Worth a stop especially on a sunny day when you can enjoy their outdoor space.

A wide selection of sour beers sure to please the sour beer drinker. Some good IPA's are on tap. Flights are available. Very limited food menu.

The Cascade Brewing sour beers are available in the Beaverton area too. Can't find the restaurant in TripAdvisor so my review goes there. The sour beer is an experience. I would not go back there for the sours. Yet, we will return because the service was awesome and the non-sour beers were good. They had a Krieg type beer which was served warmed. Perfect for the cold windy day we had in January. They have good options for the kids and the location in Beaverton is very family friendly.

I tasted a few beers at Cascade before dinner and highly recommend it! The beers were all delicious and unique to me because I haven't tried very many sour beers. I visited with someone who's tasted quite a lot of beers and has strong opinions on them, and there were very happy with the beers as well. I'd recommend the honey ginger lime beer, the blackcap raspberry (only available in a bottle but well worth it), and the framblanc made with white raspberries. One fun aspect of cascade is that you can order small 2 ounce pours of up to two beers at a time, so you are encouraged to try many different flavors! The brewery has a large outdoor area with big communal tables. It was reasonably full when I visited, and yet service was super attentive and fast with our orders! They also had great recommendations for what beers to try out, which was helpful given the variety!

Oh boy.. did not know this was sour beer brewery. I was open to tasting the samples, and I was very surprised how good it tasted once you had your pellet used to it. Very clean with really good service. We did not order any food, but came away with great experience

If you are going to Portland for anything beer related, this is an absolute must. Easily one of the better breweries in the country, and probably a top 5 in Portland, Cascade sets pretty high standards for sour beer. I was there in February 2014 during their Sourfest, and it was nirvana. Over 25 different sour beers on tap. Most are very high alcohol content, which is one of the characteristics that separates Cascade from other American sour makers. They will literally use any fruit and barrel to get what they are looking for. One of the blueberry sours they had supposedly had far too many pounds of blueberries added to be cost effective. I had the privilege to meet Ron and listen to him talk about beer for 2 hours as we pored over the barrel storage. An experience I won't forget soon! As for the food, I was at the brewery 3 times during 3 days and only at once. I will say the food was excellent, but when you are so focused on the beer, sometimes you forget what you are eating...

I've enjoyed craft brews for many years but have never enjoyed "sour" beers, that is until I visited Cascade Brewing. Without question, they brew some awesome sours and, in my opinion, the Figaro is unquestionably outstanding. Friends and I tried several of the taps, but all agreed the Figaro as an excellent. Service was good with the waitstaff knowledgeable about the brews (important in any brewpub/microbrewery) and could give excellent details of the various beers. Did not eat here so no opinion as to the food, but if you have the opportunity, stop in for the beer.

We went here on the recommendation of a local. The sour beers are amazing! The food is great. It's just too bad that Brittany seems not to like her customers.

You have to like sour beers. Sure, they make some traditional, non-sours, but what's the point? So to 57 other breweries in Portland. We did two flights -- there's a limit of two tasters per person at a time. There were a few we didn't love but most were delicious. The food was surprisingly good, with nice options -- fresh trout, a huge ham and cheese on a chewy, crunchy baguette. Service was fast and friendly.

I can't say that I'm much of a beer drinker but I didn't try a beer here I didn't like! Longest list of sours I have ever seen. A mulled apple warm sour....AMAZING. Their stout was the best I have ever had. The staff was very friendly and the facility super clean. Do yourself a favor on a nice day, and get out on the charming patio. It was night when we were there but on a future visit, we will be sure to take advantage of it if there's sunshine. We had unfortunately eaten before we showed up which was disappointing when we saw how good the menu looked. From what I saw, kids were allowed on the patio but not in the tasting room. May have to check on this as I saw a sign that said "no children beyond this point" but it was already inside and the hallway that led to kitchen and bathrooms. My guess is to keep those under 21 from being near the bar.

Being an Old Beer Geek, I'm not sure where these beer fit into old Traditional Styles of beer. I think the term "SOUR" has taken over for any beer that has a sour profile? Harking back to the time when we had Flavored Wild Fermented Belgian Lambics beers or the German acidic Berliner Weisse.... Cascade Brewing beers have a degree of acidity and sourness. Not as complex as the Belgian Lambics, Flanders Reds or Oud Bruins, nor like the Berliner Weisse acidity. These beers have a more Malo Lactic Fermentation taste..... which is used in Wine Making. Sorry for all the technical talk.... but for those who have a worldly beer/wine palate, this may be helpful. So, what we have here is a unique flavor profile..... We might even say, "Somewhat Original" in its approach. If these are truly Malo Lactic fermented beers, that is an interesting twist in the brewing world... and may even have created a new style of beer. I don't think SOUR would be the word I would use. AS with Wine, SOUR doesn't always have a good mental image. Neither does LACTIC or MALO LACTIC. I'd probably go more with a descriptor of "Vinous," in reference to a more wine like association. As my title states, 'Sour may not be the right word.' A few of us sat down to do a bunch of tasters and there's a lot to choose from! Many were delightfully vinous with subtle to bold flavors. I can't say any really taste like beer, although, I'm sure barley is the base. We tasted up and down the selection.... All interesting! All with some degree of the Malo Lactic taste. These would almost be a nice Apéritif to a good meal. As we plowed through our samples, we all noted different preferences and likes... Not really a "YUK" in the bunch. We also noticed other customers drinking HUGE glasses of these beverages. Somehow, a huge glass doesn't seem appropriate.... These are more siping beverages. That way you can take in the layers of flavors. I would serve these lovely vinous concoctions in 5 oz wine glass. Our server was very friendly and helpful... The space was rather simple sterile feeling. Food was offered. We tasted many samples and were satisfied. The thought of a huge glutenous glass would have been off putting at that point. If ya want to try something unique in alcoholic beverage world, this was a very interesting stop. Go for a variety of samples.. Have Fun.

We love the beer here, but there are not enough options for food and what there is is overpriced. I suggest more appetizers or small plate options.

Sour beers have taken off in the last five years in the US. Cascade has likely been at it longer than anyone else. While age doesn't always signify expertise, it is absolutely true here. If you're a fan of the style and you're visiting Portland this is a must stop location. Differences in base beers, barrel type, and fruit (or no fruit), and aging time produce a wide variety of choices. If you like big and oaky, try the Sang Noir. If you like something lighter and sweeter, the Honey-Ginger-Lime may work. Plenty to choose from. Growlers and bottles to take home. Very good bar food selection as well.

Visited Cascade earlier this month and cannot say enough about their beer. Granted, I am a sour beer fan... and Cascade did not disappoint. The drastic flavour characteristic differences between the different beers was fantastic. I wish I lived closer and could swing by to pick some up regularly to take home. As it was, we sat on the patio and enjoyed some fall sunshine (in Portland?? How lucky!) as well as really enjoyed some amazing beer. Definitely will drag people here the next time I'm in PDX.

Cascade is an incredibly unique brew pub, even for Portland. Most of the beers are barrel aged sours, many of which are wild fermented, imparting a unique and complex flavor profile. Don't let the sour description put you off, they are all delicious. The Belgian style ones were my favorite with a nice citrus hop note with the sourness. I didn't love the cherry lamnics or kriek, as they were a bit earthy. Even the summer ale was nice and light and crisp and great for a sunny day. The beer garden outside is also quite nice though it only overlooks a parking lot and the street, apparently common for Portland breweries. The staff wasn't super helpful about the selections, but the menu had good descriptions so we were set by ourselves.

We stumbled on this place near our air bnb and had a great experience tasting their bitter beers. We were only in town passing through but would recommend it to those looking for a chill evening. Patio was great!

Cascade Barrel brewing house was the third stop on our beer tour. Compared to our previous stop, this was a breath of fresh air. Open concept, clean, and informative servers. Unlike other breweries in the area, Cascade has found their niche through their Sour line. What is a sour you say? Well its a beer that has been aged in a wine barrel and mixed in with a choice of fruits. Some ranging very sweet, others a bit more 'sour'. To me personally, its essentially a wine spritzer but with beer. I went the safe route and tried the different IPA's available while my sister felt adventurous and ordered the sours. Both of us felt happy with our selections but I think you have to be in the mood/mind frame to drink the sours. Whether or not this is the next push in the beer industry is beyond me but well worth the try. Just a note to whom ever takes care of the emails or social media... might consider actually replying to inquiries in order to retain potential future business. Sent an email following our visit and have yet to hear from you. Just a thought.

We were in sour beer heaven!!! We got into sour beer maybe a year or two ago, and it's been really hard to find sour beer. They are getting more popular and breweries are starting to make them now but I couldn't believe it when I found this place researching for our vacation. I made sure to allocate time to go there on the way up to Washington and on the way back 😜. We sat around w kids and tasted a bunch and bought a few bottles on the way up, and bought more bottles on the way down. Their list of sour beer is very impressive!!

They had 20 taps of which 13 sour ones. Very nice beers and very good service. Food wasn’t exceptionally good though. It happened to be Tuesday when we visited and at 6 pm they cracked open a new cask. This time it was Gose de Mayo. Every Tuesday they have Tap It Tuesday ceremony.

I will start by saying that I absolutely hate sour beers (and candy) but my boyfriend loves them so we went. Every beer I tried made me pucker and I hated it but my boyfriend loved most. I was mostly disappointed by the service we received. We were first attended to by some long haired guy that seemed more interested in scoring with the bartender than doing anything close to his job. He brought us two tasters, and didn't come back for over 15 minutes even though we were finished and wanted to try more. I could clearly see him doing nothing over this time. He eventually came back, took our order for two more tasters, and food and he never came over again. Instead, he tried to look busy (but failed) for the next 45 minutes while a much friendlier and efficient waiter took care of the whole place while long haired guy waited out his shift texting, playing with his hair, and openly flirting with the girls working. He did wipe down a table. Overall, I hate sour beers and did not like a single one. However, I was also put off by the lack of service. I will say their beer cheese soup was great and my boyfriend enjoyed his sandwich though it was a little small. We later saw long-haired guy at another brewery very shortly after so he was indeed waiting out his shift to go out. Maybe he had a bad day but still.

Not all learning experiences are good, but this was. Firstly, you can only get individual tasters 2+$ each, the food although unique in some instances is not meal worthy and really expensive. The venue is great, comfortable and open both inside and out. I learned I love sour beer, but not beer this sour. The really brewery is in Beaverton at the Raccoon Lodge. Only about 5 or six are not sour and they are not distinctive. The first time I over did it and had part or all of 7 tasters and got a tummy ache, thank you TUMS. Next time, part of three was enough. This place is hot and trending, yup, the bottles to take home cost between 20-26$. Growlers only on the non sour or seasonal.

We're small time beer snobs and have previously only been able to enjoy Cascade via bottle, sitting outside on a fantastic Portland day and we went through every tap they had in the small pours.

We tried Cascade Barrel Brewing yesterday, and found the beer quite decent. We had eaten elsewhere so it was drinks only, but the atmosphere is pleasant. The music is background and not oppressive as it is in so many places. Here you can enjoy a quiet conversation with your drinks. The food we saw being served certainly looked more than acceptable. We like the open side that allows fresh air in, and the beer selection is interesting to say the least, CBB certainly deserves a second look, and I will be returning soon.

Very friendly staff and extremely knowledgeable. Attentive and friendly with non-drinkers as well. I'm personally not a fan of sour beer, but my guests swear by their selection. A must stop for unique sour beers and terrific imported mineral water.

Cascades is the real home of sour! They lost is very large the the bar tenders are very knowledgeable of all their beers and I have to say they are very honest on the ones to avoid. I did find the place lacked a little soul/ life. But good selection of beer

This is Portland's premier sour beer place. Their sours are world class, and you'll be hard pressed to find a selction of sours this good anywhere. I had a sample flight abd loved all of them. We got there kinda late but still had time for a late dinner. It would be a sad day if i had to stop in Portland and miss this place.

As a sour beer fan, I was in hog heaven. These were some of the best sours I had ever had. They will only give you two tasters at a time, but that just keeps you from sinking too fast

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SOUR BREW HOUSE! I did not sample anything other than the sours they had, but I will stop in to this establishment EVERY TIME I am in Portland. Amazing beers, awesome helpful friendly staff, cool place, & the food was good also.

Would you like to try beer? he asked. It's a great local place with only sours. he said. It'll be fun. he said. I didn't know how to tell him that I'd lived in Germany for two years and never found a beer I liked. Or that, in the 20 years since, everyone (almost literally), has tried to find the beer they just knew I'd love and failed. It felt too snobby so instead I said I'm game. I can't believe it. I not only had a glass that I enjoyed, I ordered a second. It helped to have someone navigate the menu a bit though I'm sure the server would have. Beyond the obvious personal win, the environment was casual and not rushed. We didn't order food though rumor has it that it would be good as well. Non-beer drinkers, give it a chance. I'm so glad I did.

If you like sours, this is your joint. Great hummus plates, we are vegetarians. Don't get all sad if you live IPA's and aren't blown away. ITS A SOUR HOUSE. Phenomenal service and parking wasn't too bad on a Thursday afternoon.

i am from austin, tx. i love love love sour beers and ciders. i had no idea that in some other part of the country there were so many other people like me. in austin, sour beer is becoming pretty popular. that's about all that jester king does now. however, a good cider, there are a couple of choices. out in the northwest though, everywhere i went there was amazing beer, sour beer, and cider. it was heaven. this is the first place we came to on our journey and i couldnt believe my eyes. all the sour beer! so many flavors! it was so hard to choose. let me tell you, if you are a fan of sour beer, then you have got to get your hands on some cascade keylime ginger. it was out of control.

My wife had been here years ago on a previous trip. She fell in love with ‘sour’ beers at that time. I’ve been a reluctant participant since then. This stop though changed my mind. All the various options that I tried I enjoyed. Though most beers in a 2oz portion are easy to taste. Unusual that the waiter is only allowed to bring two servings at a time? Maybe to keep the beer fresh & cool? I primarily looked over the list and picked several of the beers to try. There were just a few that were a bit too much for my taste, but again 2oz is easy to sample. One interesting taste test was the Elder sour, one from a fresh tap and the other from a Nitro barrel. Both the same beer but a real difference in taste and mouth feel. They had food menu items but one thing we thought was missing were some water crackers to help cleanse our palate between tasting the varieties. This is a nice bar setting and table seating was comfortable. It was a rainy, overcast, Portland day which made sitting inside sipping some interesting brews a fun day.

I'm a fan of unique sour brews and this place didn't disappoint! Loved the food selection too to go along with the beer.

Doors open, all indications are the place is open. Hours on TripAdvisor indicate open. After waiting 10 minutes and alerting the kitchen staff, I was told the place didn’t open until 1:00 this day. How was I supposed to know that? Despite this, I was not asked to stay or have a brew for 20 minutes until open, I was told I could come back. Not likely.

Lots of sours! Really good ones, too. Great ambiance, quite crowded. Love that it is half indoors/half patio. This was a great addition to our Portland brewery 'tour'

Who knew I'd like sour Ale. This place has an extensive selection . The food menu is limited , but what they do have is deliciously well done .

I haven't had the food, so this might not be a fair review, but this is one of the most unique and worthwhile breweries around. Their open porch and friendly staff loosens you up, drains your worries and prepares you for sweet brew-y goodness. And for a sour beer drinker, that's good because I haven't seen a better place to find good sours anywhere. I traveled there when it first opened and about a month ago, and it (fortunately) hasn't changed a bit.

We didn't have a meal, just assorted snacks and a cupcake that had beer in the recipe. The purpose of our visit was to have the experience of local brewery culture in Portland. I am the only person in the family who does not drink beer, and yet I still felt totally welcome here. The servers were friendly and happy to answer questions. We found that the opportunity to try samples really worked well for us. To my surprise I finished my own samples too - I don't think it has converted me into a beer connoisseur, but I can definitely say that sour beers have an interesting taste (in a good way) and are accessible even to the untrained palate. We were told that this seems to happen with many visitors who are not into beer. So I think my advice would be that if you are in a family or group of people who want to enjoy the Portland beer scene, but at least one of you is not big on hops, malt, et al., this is a great place to please your whole crowd.

Lets start with, I LOVE BEER. And Cascade delivered exactly what I needed. In a town that is obsessed with over hopping (if that is possible) everything, these folks deliver some of the best sour beers I have had in quite some time. We enjoyed several stops last week and were blown away each time. Staff was top notch and Sara rocked it. Thank you so much.

enjoyed our visit here with a very colorful collection of tasty sour beers. Friendly folks and fun times

Not easy to get to with traffic, construction, and lack of parking, but worth it. Not a sour beer fan. From out of state. Stopped to get bottled beers to take back with me for relatives. Ended up sampling and now I'm hooked. Can't wait to go back.

If you are into sour ales then this is your place. Unlike most of the other Portland Breweries/Brewpubs which are also good, the beers here are different. I personally like ales with different flavors added. They had Pumpkin , wine flavored. bing cherry, raspberry, etc flavored brews and porters. Again, not everyone likes their beer served this way but I loved it. The waitress was fantastic and the place packed. We didn't try the food. I think it was $2 for a taster of whatever brew you wanted. They would only bring 2 tasters at a time (I think because of the alcohol content) but you could order as many tasters as you wished.

Very impressed with this bar from the moment we arrived; with a cheerful welcome from the barman. The beer was good, although we were concerned as they mainly served sour beer, they served regular beer too. The food was excellent and would definitely recommend the chocolate bourbon balls!! We definitely had "service with a smile" from Lizzie, our waitress.

Though this wasn’t my favorite brewery that I visited In Portland, definitely worth a trip. What made the brewery so special was our server Addison. He gave us plenty of recommendations for food and beers to try around Portland as well as places to check out around town. Hands down the most selections of sours I have ever seen on tap. Decent happy hour prices on food. Food wasn’t anything to write home about, but well worth the money.

This is the second time we have been to Cascade and we come here every time we visit Portland. The sour beers are world class amazing, we sampled everything on draft of course, but the "live" barrels (White Cherry Velvet & Screaming Violet Blueberry) were outstanding. We visited on 2 separate days this trip and had the same staff members help us both times and they were amazing; A big thank you to Grant & Brie... they are a true asset to your organization.

My wife and I went to Portland on our honeymoon, and this place was highly recommended by our brewer friend. It is so good!!! We tried about 12 different beers, and our favorites were the Kriek and the Honey Ginger Lime. They do have some regular, non-sour brews for those of you who do not like sours. However, since we love sour beer, we were in heaven!!! They also have bottles to go, and we brought some back to Indiana with us!!!

Was in the area and wanted to stop for a sandwich. SO glad we did! Not only was the Salmon Rueben awesome, the “Diesel” and “Brews of a Feather” could be the best beers I have ever tasted! The venue is pretty cool with large round table which you seat yourself. The staff was very pleasant and helpful! I look forward to a return trip on my next visit to the Portland area!!

We visited on a Thursday afternoon and business was slow. Our server Sarah Jo, was wonderful. She patiently guided us through tasters of every Cascade beer and a few guest beers, providing excellent pacing with many water refills and some food to keep us in top shape. The side by side Pearpawsterous versions, Cascade and Upland were a favorite, but it is hard to pick since they really do everything so well. Food was a pretzel (wonderful horseradish mustard), the salmon Reuben, and the kale Caesar salad (perfectly dressed). We even had the strawberry shortcake. Everything was excellent. This may have been the best brewery visit we had last week.

The bar tender's are top notch, and the the beer is first rate. Cascade has the Glueh Kriek in the winter which is a sour served warm with a muddled orange and cloves-just perfect for when you need a warm up! Highly recommend this place if you're into Sour Beer!

Let me start by saying my hubby and I are beer nerds. We love it, we brew it, and we travel for it. While in Portland ( a great beer city), we visited 14 different breweries. Cascade was hands down our favorite and the only place we visited twice. They are the Home of Sour Beers, but don't let that scare you, I personally am not a huge fan of sours, but I loved the beer here. They have such unique beers - both sour and non-sour. Everyone can find something to love here. To top it off - the food is pretty great, too. Go and enjoy!

I've been here before for beer and always loved it. I tried the food for the first time this weekend and it was very good too. All fresh and reasonably priced. A great place to stop for lunch in Portland.

A little different than the other breweries in the neighbourhood. Treat yourself to 2$ samples of interesting, sour beers.

We visited Portland just to check out the beers and Cascade was a must visit on the list. I'm not really a big fan of sour beers, but the hubby loves them. I hadn't planned to participate in the tastings, but the bartender suggested I give them a try since their product is the best of the best. Boy was he right!! Of the 12 samples we tried only a few made my face pucker. The flavors and ingredients are tasty, creative and all over the place. I have to say, this was our favorite place we visited over the weekend. We were there on a Sunday night without football so our experience may be jaded, but Cascade has a very cool environment, the staff was awesome and SOOO knowledgeable and the beers were excellent. Get out of your comfort zone and visit Cascade!!!

I love the direction Cascade Barrel Brewing House has taken with their sour beers! It is refreshing to not drink a brew that's all about the hops! The beers are considered and interesting! I love getting a flight and trying all the new ones! Besides beer - FOOD! It's great! And it seems that they keep working to develop a menu that works seasonally/locally and that pairs well with their beers!

Two sips in, I embraced the sour beer revolution. Wow! This is place will convert even the most snobbiest of beer enthusiasts. A true gem - unique to all the beer drinking joints in the US. Even the hipsters were smiling. Sluckumms approved

Interesting sours. The only food i had was the dark chocolate bourbon balls - yum!. Great service. Definitely a place for sour lovers 😘

I am a huge fan of sours and this place totally delivers. I thought the prices were reasonable for tasters and also had some great chocolate truffles to help reset my palette for more beers. Highly recommend.

Best sour beer ever. Many selections. You must try the tasters to appreciate the variety of flavors. Service is excellent. TV screens to watch the games from every vantage point. This was our second visit. In the summer they have an outdoor area.

Absolutely fantastic selection of unique beers. Everything was available in small pours (4 and 2 oz), which allowed us to sample over 16 different beers in a single visit. Every single one was excellent. It’s obvious that the brewmaster and the staff really take pride in what they are doing. One of the best small breweries I’ve ever visited!

Food was ok, Beer was ok. Service was great. We had the Nacho's which left a lot to be desired, no layering of chips and goodies, a big plop of sauce on top, a bit cold when it hit the table. The onion rings were good, bought in, but good. The fish and chips were good, a little to much crunch on the fish as they were a bit over cooked. The fries were good, beer battered. I will probably not make the trip again.

This was our first visit to Cascade Barrel and we were so happy to come across this gem - and the selection of sour beers is top notch. Took advantage of the 2oz tasters and was able to try a number of delicious sour beers

It what universe is it okay to charge someone $7, plus tax for a Caesar salad that consisted of half a Roman e lettuce, with less than a hand full of chickpeas and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese? Considering this was one of the most expensive items on the happy hour menu I figured I would be getting at least an enter sized salad and that it would be enough to feed me, someone who doesn't eat much at all. I was so shocked when it it the table, I literally ate the whole thing in three bites!

We went on a Thursday night for a light dinner and beers with our friend who is a local.Great sour beers, also some New Zealand Earl Grey flavored beer which was excellent.Great atmosphere, fine outdoor seating.

This place is getting pretty well known and it was slammed for a Monday evening. However, definitely worth the trip if you like sours and/or fruit beers . . . the selection is nuts and they have excellent beers. They don't do flights but you can get 2 oz and 4 oz pours of anything on tap which means you can still try a lot.

This place does them right. I never liked sours at all. I'm from the East coast and perhaps they just don't know how to craft them well. Cascade is on point. I sampled seven out of probably 12, if not more. I was thoroughly impressed with each brew. I left hammered, which was a good thing. Gotta grab some bottles for my return home because I doubt I'll have anything like these again.

We stopped in to sample a few beers, especially the sour beers, and to have a little something to eat. We were really happy with the service, beers we tried, and the hummus platter. The atmosphere is fun and lively. you sit at barrel tables on stools. I am not big on sour beers but this brewery really knows how to do it.

I visit Cascade whenever I go to Portland. The beer is amazing and always changing. I recommend getting a few bottles because it is hard to find. The food is tasty and fresh. The staff are professional and friendly. I cannot wait to go back.

Great place if you like Sour Beer. I'm not a huge fan of them. Appetizers are ok but a bit overpriced !

Even if you don't like sour beer (or beer in general) this is a great place to visit. They do have some very sour beers for the sour beer lover but also some other choices that will appeal to anyone. Make sure you stop here while in Portland.
Sour Beer HEAVEN!
A bartender from another place told us about this brewery. Oh. My. God. Sour beer heaven. I love that you can order tasters of almost everything, can order bottles of beers that arent on tap at the time, great simple snack too. I miss this place already. This is a must got for anyone that loves sour beers!
