So disappointed. I brought my daughter here because I thought everything was fabulous before covid. Unfortunately, nothing was amazing. We ordered the Brussels sprouts for the appetizer and the raviolis and steak salad. The Brussels sprouts did not have a lot of flavor. The descriptions for the raviolis sounded amazing with the ingredients of beef, ricotta and honey. I detected no ricotta or honey and all we received were 4 squares of ravioli for $26! The salad was described as having blue cheese, pears, candied hazelnuts and onions. This was a $25 salad. The steak was very small and barely any toppings. It's really too bad.

Such nice people!

Loved this place! My husband and I went here for dinner on a Tuesday night while on vacation. It wasn't crowed at all so I was nervous it may not be any good but I was pleasantly surprised. We decided to sit at the bar and I'm so glad we did. Several of the bartenders talked to us for a while and genuinely cared about where we were from and how our stay was going. We had such a great time here, the food was good and the staff was just so great! If I ever go back to Portland I would definitely eat here again!

Incredible!

Stumbled upon this magnificent gem on our anniversary trip to Portland. OH. MY. GOD! The chicken flatbread was amazing and so delicious, I still fantasize about it almost a year later. Food is amazing and so are the drinks. Flying back to Portland, just for the flatbread.

Great find for a late nite bite and drink!

Cassidy's has a late night happy hour and is a cool, relaxed place to have a late night snack and drink. My wife and I cruised in here, had the "Search for Tomorrow" and the "Dark Shadows"-- great drinks, and a fun crowd of late nighters.

Best Bar in Portland, Oregon

By karriekaiyala |

Bob Cassidy serves great food and has the best bar in Portland. Great happy hour, excellent service and near Powell's, The Crystal Ballroom and Portland Rep Theater. You'll likely meet regulars who stop in to see Bob and his staff and then say you've been to this classic uptown hang-out. Wonderful spot for solo, friends, business and couples.

Old Portland venue with inventive Northwest food.

By Harry A |

We have had many dinners and happy hours here over the last several years. The menu is smallish, but there is something for everyone. Love the seasonal salads and desserts. Entrees run the gamut from pasta to seafood, chicken and steak, with even an excellent burger available. There is a really beautiful old bar in the half of the restaurant that serves as the bar. There is also a room for private dinners that can be closed off. We have used that for both large family gatherings- you just have to reserve that ahead of time. The happy hour has great deals on both drinks and food. Very comfortable place.

My spot

I'm only sharing this review simply because Cassidy's doesn't get enough credit. Bartenders are crafty and therapeutic. The food is never disappointing, happy hour is my jam but I come here on the regular so I eat it all. What I'm trying to say is, if you want soulful jams, satisfying cocktails and yummy late night bites, Cassidy's is your place.

A Hidden Gem in NW Portland

By M F V |

On Saturday night, we were invited to dinner by a friend at Cassidy's Restaurant. What a nice surprise! After 26 years spending lots of living nearby in the Pearl, we discovered this place that has been there since 1979. The food was excellent, the dining room was peaceful, and the wood paneling and flooring provided a great NW atmosphere. The bar is as attractive as it looks on their website. The menu was very good and the cost was very reasonable. Try it out.

Depends

If you go here for the food I would rate it poor. However, as a bar or a place for a few drinks with friends this may be exactly what you're looking for. I had mussels. This was standard which is to say good but the French fries were in the sauce and not separate which makes them soggy and doesn't help the broth either. The Belgian style mayo was good and would have been better if the fries were dry. Service is good and very friendly. The bar has an old time atmosphere and, indeed, the bar looks old. The drink menu is not huge but certainly adequate. If you're looking for a relaxing place with friends this may be what you want.

Delicious, great service, and relaxed atmosphere

Went to Cassidy's last night for dinner with friends. The five of us each ordered a different entree and shared: pork, clams, chicken, beef and ravioli. Hands down - one of the best meal spots in Portland. On a previous visit had the Cassidy's burger - mouthwatering! Wonderful Italian wine selections, too.

A step back in time

By acepdx |

When everybody is trying to be oh so hip, current and nouveau, it is nice to find a place with fairly classic menu choice, but still with attention to modern tastes and quality. Drinks are good, service is sometimes a little stressed, but the kind of place that can feel like home cooking, but better.

Nothing spectacular

By amandamckenzie |

The restaurant is in an older building that is looking tired inside (and that's different than vintage). It doesn't really have any identifiable appeal. However, the food was good and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Many people took advantage of the "dine in Portland" $33 - 3 course special. I had crab cakes that were very tasty. Brussel sprout appetizers and the fresh bread were both fabulous.

Overpriced, unprofessional/amateur staff, bland food, and complete with views of the local residents of the rehab clinic across the street taking a smoke break. In a word, no.

Quiet bar, great grub!

I was staying nearby at the Hotel DeLuxe and was recommended this for dinner/drink after arriving late. Had a great burger and local cider. Will likely go back to try some of the other delicious sounding menu items.

Best Kept Secret

By mollypie |

The food here was amazing! So delicious! We had the brussel sprout appetizer that was amazing and then the crab cake dinner and pork shank. They bring a basket of bread from the Grand Central bakery. The crab cakes were mostly crab and very tasty. Came with a salad with julienne granny smith apples. Great combination! The pork shank was generous and melted in your mouth, served with a generous serving if risotto.  Will definitely be back!

It's been great for a very long time

Cassidy's has been one of Portland's fun watering holes and great restaurant for a very long time. Even though the atmosphere is old Portland the food is always good! The bar a great place to meet friends and it is close enough that you could walk to a Timbers Game.

Great dinner for a large party

By drohecker |

We just celebrated a birthday with 16 people at Cassidy's before heading to the Crystal Ballroom for a show. The menu had a great selection plus a few specials that night, not on the menu. Everyone said they loved their dinners. The server was prompt, kept the drinks flowing, and she even rang up separate checks for all of us. It is not easy to find restaurants nearby the Crystal that could accommodate all of us, and Cassidy's was a great choice. We practically had the place to ourselves - which was perfect - since we tend to be a loud and energetic bunch. The bar looks vintage, and the decor seems a bit antique. Very cosy, not pretentious or trying hard to be hipster or chic like a lot of the local restaurants. After dinner, we hopped next door to Scooters - they had big cheap drinks and Jell-O shots! A great way to kick off the night!

Wonderful, 1st class food ...even late at night!

By April J |

After being snubbed at the Rialto Pool Hall, my husband I were just eager to find somewhere to eat late at night having just arrived in town and starved. This restaurant was a complete 180 in service! The food was amazing! We had the grilled caesar, beef short ribs, and creme brulee for dessert. We also had two cocktails, the Stumptown and the Bridgetown...just simply fantastic! The meal was served with a rustic bread and fresh butter too. For as late as we showed up, I was leery about ordering dinner entrees and having it come out like stuff that had been sitting under a food lamp all day/night but this was FAR from the case. The beef short ribs were steaming hot, no knife required, fork tender goodness! I didn't even need to salt/pepper my food. Just so pleased overall and I will recommend this place to anyone I know coming to this area!

A dive bar in the very best sense

By coyle101 |

Nice mix of young and old, blue collar and street people. Very friendly crowd. A little noisy, well-worn, good crapola on the walls and ceilings. Dog friendly. There were four mutts, including a friendly pittie sitting at the bar, when we stopped on a late Friday afternoon. Great drinking bar. The Pearl District probably had a half dozen like this before it got yupped up.

Chill Place to get a Good Late Night Food

Solid choice for a late night meal with few options. I ordered the pork belly ramen and my partner ordered the chicken pasta, both were great. Server was friendly and helpful. Good music. Dark, relaxing ambiance.

Hidden Gem in Downtown Portland, Oregon

By Jon R |

Ok, this has to be some hidden gem in downtown Portland. My wife and I stayed at the Crystal Hotel for her birthday and wanted a good steak for dinner. After researching through all of the ungodly expensive steakhouses in Portland we found Cassidy's and decided to give it a shot since it was a 5 minute walk away. Walking in, the ambiance was great. The decor reminded me of a 40s or 50s era swanky restaurant with a gorgeous bar. The place is dimly lit with candles on the tables, which gave a very intimate feeling and was perfect for our date. We went on a Friday night and it was just empty. I made us reservations expecting a busy restaurant and it wasn't necessary and totally surprising with how good this meal was. Like I said, total hidden gem in downtown Portland. I'm vegan and my wife isn't so she NEVER gets a good steak anymore. She loves salad too so she ordered the Grilled Flank Steak Salad. Perfectly cooked and seasoned small piedmontese sirloin, organic greens, smoked blue cheese, pickled red onion, pear, candied hazelnuts with a blood orange truffle vinaigrette. She loved every bite! The only mistake of the evening was she asked for no blue cheese and when she got the salad it was loaded with it. We sent it back and our server replaced it ASAP. However, they sent back the same steak that she originally got instead of remaking the entire dish. A little off-putting, but the steak was so good my wife loved it even when it was cold. That series of mistakes would normally have taken away the 5th star but.....the heavens rejoiced when the chef created that Vegan Risotto! The dish is arborio with roasted turnip, parsnip, and rutabaga, caramelized pear on top, and a vegan cashew brie stirred in. I've always wanted to try risotto, but with my dietary restrictions I can't have cheese and dairy. I was super excited to see this on the menu for vegans and every bite was divine!! Creamy and cheesy, the rice was perfectly cooked and those roasted veggies were soooooooo good!!! I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to think about the caramelized pear on top (I'm not usually a sweet dinner kind of guy) but the bite all together was complex rollercoaster of flavor that I never wanted to end. I was truly sad that the meal was gone and I couldn't have seconds! We ended the night with a creme brule dessert that the server comped us for the salad mistake. It was an orange citrus creme brule and my wife enjoyed every last bite. My only real critique and thing I felt lacking was there wasn't a dessert option for a vegan even though there is a vegan dish on the menu. I had to sit and watch my wife eat dessert while I sipped on my water. Even if it was just a light sorbet with some mint for a pallet cleanser, a vegan friendly dessert to wrap up the awesome vegan meal would be super appreciated. Our server. I feel bad because I didn't get his name but he was a trooper! He was the host, the server AND the bartender. There was some other staff for sure, but the guy working the evening shift on 12/09/22 behind the bar deserves a raise! We'll definitely be back next time we're in Portland!!! #kudostothechef

Friendly staff, good drink selection for late night outing.

By oom-papa |

A work colleague and I stopped at Cassidy's for a couple of late night beverages after work Monday night and found the service to be excellent. The no frills, classic atmosphere and decor were pleasant and we settled in for an enjoyable experience overall. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and I recommend this establishment if you're looking for a basic, relaxed evening.

New find - will go again

By w_visitr11 |

Found this almost by accident. It's an understated gem. Food was excellant, service very helpful and prompt. Arrived early on a Saturday night and had immediate service. Has long history and excellant reputation - we found out, after the fact! Very imaginative menu of substantial choices. Will go again to explore the menu more thorougly. Slight downside was a little dark for us old guys with poor eye sight - yet, with the very helpful waiter, no troubles.

Perfect spot for a late dinner

By BenjaminLarche |

We were searching for a place that offers late dinner after a long journey. Went to Cassidy a bit randomly after a google search, and we really loved it! We had the fried calamari, carrots, risotto and lamb lasagne. Starters were already very good and main courses were even better. The place has a real « cachet », and the waiter is friendly. Maybe juste a small thing that can be improved: we ordered 4 courses and everything was brought at the same time, whereas we were more thinking of 2 starters and 2 main courses. The place serves good food until 2am, very precious in a city.

Old time charm

By omkitty2000 |

Staff was very friendly. The place to go if you are entertaining needs a more down to earth flair. Didn't eat while I was there but saw some bacon topped macaroni and cheese come out of the kitchen that looked and smelled amazing

A pub with a dining room

By IanAberdeen |

Basically a bar with a dining room attached. Tasty, well-cooked food and drinkable wines at reasonable prices. Well organised layout so that you don't feel crowded out when it's busy. Very good service.

Old style bar with good food

By John V |

This is an old style bar and restaurant. There is even an old telephone booth, now used to storage space. Nothing new age. The service was excellent. Prior to purchasing a bottle of wine, we were able to sample it. The server also delivered a sample of a house wine as a possible substitute. The onion soup had a slightly sweet taste that was most pleasing. The rockfish we both ordered was crusted and delicious. For dessert, we had the Creme Brulee. This is the first time we had encountered it with a hint of orange in it. Very good.

Great prices and portions.

By Tommytx |

We had the roasted chicken and the pork veal ravioli . Both item were fresh and quite tasty. The portions were good size and the homemade ice cream was a treat. We would go back if we lived there. The prices at happy hour were awesome.

Good Dinner

By Bourlingueur |

We ate at Cassidy’s Restaurant in Portland while there for a conference. The food was good. Starting salad was greens with beets and a small piece of goat cheese. The portion of beets was small. We both had local Rockfish which was simply cooked and tasted good. It was served with risotto and sautéed kale.

One of my "go to" places

By shewholovestoeat |

I have been going to Cassidy's for years now. I love this place. It has the warmth of an established bar and restaurant. Cool old wood back bar, small tables and wood booths in the bar. Also in the restaurant. We usually come here for late night, and they are open late to accommodate the service industry, The food is great. The menu is always solid---for either the bar or restaurant. Bob hires great staff from front of the house to the cooks. One of the best Spanish coffees in town!

Perfect late evening venue

By MBD48 |

We ate here on the advice of the desk clerk at our hotel after a long day traveling. I started with one of their many craft beers and the bar tender made a special bloody Caesar for my wife. We then shared a fried oysters appetizer (about half a dozen for $9) and a local specialty rock fish dinner ($19). The oysters were tastey, small, in a tempura-like batter and not enough for the money. The server divided the fish for us. It was nicely seasoned in teriyaki sauce and accompanied with veggies and rice cakes. Better value for sure. The staff were extremely welcoming and generous in their advice for us as first time customers and as tourists to Portland.

SKIP IT!

By lovethebeach048 |

Had a group of 7 people for dinner. As for myself, the salad was too salty, the fish was too salty, I had 1 Brussel sprout with my meal (cut in half), and my Bread pudding was dry, salty and no flavor. Not to mention no tart cherries that I could find or taste. My husband's linguine was oddly flavored and had too much fennel. The Shortrib meal and the flatbread seemed like the winners. I didn't finish any course of my meal.

Low Key, Good Food, Cheap Drinks

By TimmyDyer |

This is where the hotel staff hangs out after work. Food is served late and the drinks are strong. Everything is fairly cheap so when visiting on a limited dime, this place will more that satisfy your carnal cravings.

Good late night spot

By Joe C |

Cassidy's is a solid choice for those in search of satisfying their late night hunger. They offer a full dinner menu as well as a bar and happy hour menu. The "go to" items for me here are the French Onion Soup, their version of Mac and cheese which changes fairly often, as well as their burger. These are all good options. I would describe the menu as hearty, meaning they provide "stick to your ribs" type of food which is great for a cold Portland night. Not the kind of spot where you'd go if you were looking for lighter fare. There cocktails are good and their "wine by the glass" menu is ok, but a little limited.

Handmade Pasta and Great Service

By Allan L |

We were looking for a late night restaurant when we arrived in Portland and Cassidy's came up a recommendation. Billing itself as one of the oldest restaurants in Portland, it definitely looks like a throwback when you walk in. But, the food is uniformly excellent, the pasta is handmade and delicious and the onion soup has just the right amount of sherry in it. The service is impeccable and the wine list, is small but locally focused with quality, affordable, wines. Overall, a great dining experience.

Really good food in old Portland location

By 2bits2go |

Somehow we've missed eating at Cassidy's despite their long-time presence. Went there for Portland Dining Month and were very pleased. Surprisingly quiet at 7:00 - think they are busy late. Had a good dinner with very good service. Sure we'll visit again.

Great Pre-Game Dinner Spot

By D W |

We had a very good dinner at Cassidy's before a Timbers game yesterday. The place has a nice wood panel older Portland decor. We made a reservation but it really was not necessary however it did get us a nice table by the window. Being early we ate off the pretty extensive happy hour menu and everyone was please with their choices. I just had their basic cheeseburger which was really tasty. Hand made with great spices. The fries were excellent. Decent beer selection and happy hour drinks. Only a short walk to Providence Park so all in all an excellent choice. We want to go back and experience what looked like a really tasty dinner menu.

Group of 13 people eat and drink

By Scorpiorising49 |

Great, no, exceptional service. All of us were seated and what comes along? A Waiter with Menu's for all and took drink orders before he left. Another Waiter took our dinner order. Did not have to wait a long time for the drinks or the Food, nicely plated, either and the water glasses were filled in a timely manner. Atmosphere was nice and the food and drinks good not a Michelin starred restaurant hence reasonably priced ($$). All in all a good gathering place. The neighborhood is just a little iffy being on 13th & Washington but you would not know so from the inside. Go back again? Yep!

Still feeling it... and not in a good way.

By jjhpdx |

Last night me and a colleague decided to step outside of our normal Monday night dinner venues and try something new. I live in the area and walk by Cassidy's frequently so after reading the reviews and looking at the menu on line we decided to give it a go. Sadly, this was a mistake from which I am still suffering this morning. My first impression was variable. The restaurant only had 2 tables sat when we arrived which should have been an indication of what was to come but were were greeted warmly by the staff and were sat quickly. The decor was a little shabby and tired and the entire placed looked as if it could use a fresh coat of paint and some updating. These were minor issues however considering the quality of the food. We ordered the brussel sprouts, burger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. The sprouts were fried and oily. The burger is hard to describe fully as the meat was gooey and tasted as if it had spoiled. I was only able to take a single bite as the flavor generated a visceral reaction indicating danger. The fries were not fresh and the oil they were fried in was rancid. My friend, who ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup was only able to take one bite of the soup as it too had a flavor indicating the potential hazard. I was a little surprised as the waitress didn't notice that we asked for the check and left without eating most of our food. Perhaps this is not an uncommon reaction to the menu offerings. Sadly, this morning, as I sit here typing the review, my stomach is still not recovered. The nausea and GI distress are slowly diminishing and I think I may be through the worst of the resultant sickness. I guess the previous review show that anyone can find 15 people to say something nice about them..........

A favorite local restaurant.

By wrgood1 |

A favorite local restaurant. Great service. Fun bar with excellent cocktails and wine. Good food. The owner is a great guy who’s owned and operated this restaurant for 40 years! Excellent late night spot when it gets very lively.

Nice Surprise!

By Ben1098 |

I had been to Cassidy's before because I was recommend for their hamburgers, which are really great, good old fashioned big patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato and then they have this seasoned Ketchup that is really tasty. So the problem in Portland is that everything is closed by 10:00 and my wife and I like to eat after the game, the movie, the theater, etc. and it is very hard to find something open, but Cassidy's was open and I told her we could have a great burger, she reluctantly agreed, we had just been at the Opera and she wanted something that could be paired with wine not beer. So we went in and she ended up ordering the Manila Clams, they where excellent, I ordered my usual burger which was great as always but her clams where just fantastic. I could not stop eating them. The service was great and I think this will be our go to place, they have a good menu selection and prices seem to be reasonable. The place is dark and it appears to be very old so this does not help visually but the food and service are excellent.

Great ambiance and food.

By Steve Pruitt |

Had a wonderful time at Cassidy’s. We ordered off the specials menu … “Short ribs over Risotto” Divine! Tip; Always order off the specials menus as it is always revolving and delicious. The ambiance is classic old Portland with its oak bar, wood floors and wood paneled walls.

Unpretentious, But Also A But Musty

By Andrew C |

One of the few little bits of old Portland left on the fringes of Portland's ever-expanding Pearl District, Cassidy’s has the kind of cozy lived-in atmosphere (and décor) that feels appealing at first, but then the ubiquitous musty smells, rickety chairs and uneven service take over and you wonder how this will all play out. (Though the old wooden bar itself is pretty cool.) The menu features steaks, seafood, salads and pasta, and the happy hour, from 4pm to 6pm, looks like a pretty good deal. Several of the appetizers we ordered in the lounge/bar area were adequate enough – a calamari dish came out lightly breaded but a bit too soggy, with accompanying bland red sauce that did nothing to enhance it. The grilled romaine was more up to snuff, with a nice (if overly heavy) Caesar dressing breadcrumbs and pecorino cheese topping the leaves. Parking can be a challenge, but if you can stomach the inevitable line of people parked at the front door waiting for a show at the adjacent Crystal Ballroom, then Cassidy’s will reward you with an unstuffy, unpretentious atmosphere that is increasingly difficult to find in this neighborhood. It's a good place to rendezvous for a few cocktails before heading out elsewhere, but a ‘destination restaurant’ it definitely is not.

Much better than what we expected!

By BPC75 |

We were staying just 2 blocks away and arrived late at our hotel...we didnt feel like hunting too much for a specific restaurant so went into cassidys as it was conveniently located. We were bowled over by the excellent service and the food was great! Can't believe this place isn't ranked higher on Trip Advisor. Really nice comfortable relaxed atmosphere with a top notch food. Highly recommended.

Excellent Food & Service

By Rick M |

Our hotel staff recommended Cassidy's upon our late arrival in Portland. We were able to walk there, and while the prices were higher than we expected (we are from the mid-west where it seems everything is less) we could not have had a more relaxing excellent meal. Beautiful steaks, cooked perfectly with flavorful sides. It was the best meal of our trip and after, did not mind the cost at all. The staff was attentive and helped out grandson, a very picky eater, find something he would enjoy. We will be back!

Excellent food in casual setting

By Laura F |

I always feel at home in this Portland restaurant that has been around for a long time. The food is wonderful and always fresh. They even make their pasta noodles. And they have this crazy Grilled Romaine starting dish that is incredible. One of the things that keeps drawing me back besides the comfortable atmosphere and quality of the food is the variety of types of dishes. While based on regional cuisine, you can find fancy dishes as well as comfort food like hamburger and tuna melt (done upscale) thus making it great for a group of people as everyone can find something they are in the mood for on the menu. And don't forget the bar menu - yummy! (this review is based on my many visits over the years as well as my recent visit)

The food was outstanding!

By Jan W |

We stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day of hiking in the Columbia Gorge. We each ordered something different and everyone's meal was delicious. The waiter was very friendly and gave us good suggestions on what to try. We had fresh bread brought to the table prior to our appetizers and meals. The beer selection was good as well. We would definitely come back for dinner again.

Don’t miss this gem!!!

By trvltheworld11 |

Who would have thought our best meal in Portland would have been at a happy hour?! We were very pleasantly surprised! Cassidy’s braised pork shoulder over Parmesan polenta was outstanding, as were the roasted balsamic Brussels sprouts with toasted almonds. Some of the best I’ve ever had. The Mac and cheese was luxuriously rich and creamy with plenty of bacon. Their Pear Brandy sidecar was also fabulous and I would definitely give it a try if you love pear and have never had one. You won’t be disappointed. Add in the excellent service by Jen and it was a trifecta of a culinary experience! Wonderful....

Great food, good atmosphere

By jgl1 |

and not too far away from the ART. A limited menu, which is good, makes choosing easier. I had a fabulous steak and my dining companion had the chicken. Both were delicious. We couldn't have been happier.

Great PDX institution

By FlaneurHawaii |

Oregon has annoying liquor laws, and a lot of places stop serving booze far, far earlier than the 2 a.m. cutoff. Thank goodness for Cassidy's, which does a reasonable last call. And real food late at night -- not just fried bar stuff. Try the pork chops. When we're in PDX for New Year's Eve, my family has a longstanding tradition of a post-midnight drink at Cassidy's.

Valentine delight

By 1hurleygirl |

We had a change of plans for Valentine's day, so got looking for reservations late in the game. We'd never been to Cassidy's, but they had an opening for reservations and decided to try it. In checking out the menu beforehand, we found it had a very appealing wine list, as well as menu. This is one of the few places we've been where the wait staff actually kept and eye on us and our wine, so we never had to pour it ourselves. The food was delicious. I love a good french onion soup (which isn't easy to find) and this one was good. I can't say it's the best I've ever had - it had too much bread and not enough soup. But, the flavor was very very good. Both of our entree's were delicious, and mine was so large I had some to bring for leftovers, which were super tasty the next day too. We were too full to order dessert, so no comment there. We'll go back though.

It's a movie set, so sit back and enjoy the experience

By Mary C |

Cassidy's is 'old school' cool. We went for a 'nightcap' and it was quiet so we were able to take in the restaurant "setting" which is beautifully intact; we really enjoyed our conversation with the waitress, and on our way out, spied a patron eating best steak we had seen anywhere in Oregon.

EXCELLENT RISOTTO

By M G |

Nice late night dinner place. Cold and rainy night. I only had coffee all day and was hungry. Ordered the full risotto special. Very, very good, large portion. Attentive staff. Nice and quite dinner for my wife and I. Next time I will eat at the bar.

good recommendation! My pork shoulder with white bean ragout was tender, perfectly cooked and very tasty. Georgia's gnocchi were also perfectly cooked, and she enjoyed them too. We were the first diners at 5:30 for a pre-show dinner. Service was prompt, non-intrusive and attentive. It's on our list for a second visit.

A welcoming late night spot

By Paul D |

Arriving from the East Coast pretty late, we were lucky that friends from Portland knew about Cassidy’s. The decidedly old school bar look belies the fact that the place has a really good gastropub food. At almost 11:00 p.m. we had the choice of the full dinner menu or the Happy Hour menu – yes, that’s right, they have two happy hours 4- 6 and 10 -2:00 am! The menu is varied and interesting and has a very comfort food composition. The bartender, who was also our server, made us feel totally welcome like it was your corner bar. It was a real treat. As the night wore on, more people wandered in and it was so “gemütlich” that I felt like I could stay forever. Nicely done!

Really Awesome Food

By 2luvtotravel2 |

Recently a large group of friends and family went to Cassidy's to celebrate a 40th birthday. I was surprised to see the restaurant basically empty at 6:00 on a Saturday night, which could be due to it's location, it's a few blocks from the busy part of downtown Portland. The food was outstanding, my smoked salmon risotto was cooked perfectly as was my husbands chicken marsala. Our waitress was very friendly, and did not have a problem with splitting the tickets, which was nice since we had fourteen people in our party. We stopped in the bar on our way out and the waitress was happy to take our picture, all in all a great place. We will definitely be back!

Great late nite dinner and service

By chubbilicious |

First place we ate at. Recomended by the guys at the hotel delux (looked like a nice botuique). We were fresh off the plane after our luggage was lost. Started off w the Hendricks on the rocks, no cucumber but no lime niether, nothing gained but nothing lost. We had the mac and cheese as an app. Good as the aclaimed Table 52's in Chicago. Perfect I would say. I had the chicken sandwich w fries and three different sauces, aioli, tangy blue cheese and a sweet mustard, all so good not sure whichwas best. My wufe had the burger. The server was the best we have had in a long time. Female and I should definitely remember her name but u was tired. I tipped $6.75 ir so on a $33 bill and assumed it was taxed so I tipped on what I assumed was a $30 meal before taxes not realizing that Portland does not hav e restaurant tax. I should have tipped her $10. I rarley go cheap and feel a aneed to go back and make good. My apologies to a wonderful and consummate professional of a server. To cassidys, keep the lady that was working late happy hour wed oct 2. She acts like an owner. Thanks again.

I was expected a Dive and discovered an old gem instead

By RSNN |

I wandered around the block from the Crytal Ballroom for a drink. I saw this place and thought I bet it's a dive bar. I walked in and was stunned. It was far removed from that. It was a classic old gem. Like I had walked into another time. It looked like a classy place to have a good meal. A place you would feel great to spend time in. And a nice place to take someone on a date, or a romantic dinner. Amazing what you can find when you least expect it. Glad I walked in to see what this place was like and what it had to offer in Atmospher.

A dive bar with great food!

Okay....yes....it's a dive bar, but if you are hungry and looking for a great Happy Hour then don't pass this place up just because it's not as posh as some of its new neighbors. I was pleasantly surprised to find a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich served with a steaming hot bowl of roasted red pepper and tomato soup (topped with a basil oil) $8, a juicy hamburger oozing with Tillamook cheddar cheese and served with fries $8 and a fabulously creamy elbow mac n' cheese $7. The staff was attentive and friendly and it's the perfect spot before a Timbers match.

Great late night stop

After a full evening of music and drinking at the Crystal I found my way up to Cassidys. It was perfect. All I had was a bowl of tomato bisque and a grilled cheese sandwich, but it was just right...hearty bread for the sandwich. Good food period, drunk or not! The bartender/waitress was engaging and pleasant. I would certainly go back and can recommend it, for sure.
