Live rat in a glue trap under the bench we were sitting on at dinner. Staff did nothing to remedy the situation.

We went to the location on Haight. We had the tapas: plantain, rice with black beans, shrimp, crab cakes and queso. It was very good. We also had the handcrafted beer. Service was OK yet friendly. Not a fancy place, but has charm. If you are looking for good cuban style food, this will hit the spot.

As we were in the Haight district popped into this establishment for a quick drink one morning. Can't say anything about the food as we only had a $6 Mexican beer and the wife had water. But the server was ok, the place near Golden Gate Park was a bit unusual so nothing seriously wrong and worth a pop in . The food menu looked satisfactory too.

Delicious. This has been my favorite restaurant for over 15 years. They catered my wedding back in 2012. Everything was delicious.

My husband and i went to ChaChaCha last night expecting a fun latin restaurant with good quality (not fine) food. We were sorely disappointed. They must rely on a young/tourist crowd who have never traveled to Spain, Cuba or any other place where real Spanish food is served. 1. Raved about sangria is cheaply made and served without flair. The fruit was old and soggy and the taste was of strong inexpensive wine and booze of some sort. 2. Empanada was doughy and while they said it was chicken curry, there was mostly some vegetable, very little chicken and very little curry. The black beans on the side were good. 3. Warm spinach salad was over dressed and poorly presented. looked overtossed and it just did not taste very good. 4. The Paella was the final straw....it was filled with inexpensive shrimp, calamari and bay scallops that had been treated and tasted as if they had come out of a frozen bag of seafood from a bulk store. The linguica wasn't much better and i could not tell if the final protien was a white fish or chicken. I gave it one star as the flan was passable and the North Point IPA my husband had was cold and good. Please lower your expectations of this restaurant. BTW--the wait staff was pretty good, but inattentive and seemed rushed and disinterested.

So incredibly tasty! The sangria is perfect, the plantains melt in your mouth and the happy hour specials are a ton of food at a reasonable cost. Definitely worth the stop. Stroll through the park and then get there early (they opened for dinner at 5 and only had one table left open by 5:10)

We came all the way from England to experience San Francisco and this place just hit the nail on the head. Really vibrant atmosphere, fantastic food and really friendly service. I can highly recommend it and would certainly come back if I ever come back to the city.

This was a very pleasant surprise on our walk through Haight/Ashbury. The decor is extremely creative and the food was very good as well!

My son (24) loved this place more than any other in SF and still goes on about it.....best Cuban food/atmosphere located in Ashbury/Haight. We had a terrific meal/service/sangria (even though it was lunch). You can find it as a blue stand alone building that says "cha cha cha".

I am not a restaurant basher ( I own one in Sonoma County) but the service here was the worst I have ever had, Last Saturday I and 2 friends walked in and put our name down for a table. The wait was 40 minutes. We tried to order an appetizer in the bar as we were pretty darn hungry. They do not offer that service in the bar if you are waiting for a table in the dining room but the bartender offered chips and salsa while we waited. He never brought it to us and I did not want to be a burden as 40 minutes should come soon enough, and he seemed rather annoyed we attempted to order apps while waiting for a table in the dining room. Over one hour later, hungriness really setting in, we noticed a lot of empty tables and asked the man (who refused to give his name but has no business hosting or working in a restaurant) what happened as we, being easy going, were starting to get irritated. He simply said, larger parties came in and he wanted to seat them first. He was extremely hostile and we immediately left. The whole thing was bizarre as we are so easy going and were treated so poorly. He did not give us eye contact, he was not sorry, and he simply did not care. Whoever owns this place, I tried to speak to him constructively and he did nothing to attempt to be kind to us after he forgot about us. I am the first to admit I make mistakes at my restaurant, we are human, but we always try to make it right, especially when a customer does us the courtesy to try to do it then and there.

Great Cuban and Caribbean cuisine. Portions are large, so be careful when you order. Recommend the jerk chicken, but all other stuff is good.

Today I had the pleasure of lunching at Cha-Cha-Cha on Haight Street in San Francisco, and let me tell you, it was a flavor-packed experience. The steamed mussels were tender, the ceviche was refreshingly zesty, the sautéed mushrooms were savory perfection, and the Cajun shrimp with their signature spicy cream sauce? Absolute fire. Even the fried new potatoes were on point. The vibe was unbeatable with that open-door, laid-back Haight Street atmosphere, and the staff—always smiling—made the experience even better. Plus, there’s a full bar, so you know you’re in for a good time. Highly recommend!

Very well eaten ( paella ) with fresh ingredients , you can sit very nicely under colorful umbrellas outdoors. Very friendly staff. Very good value for money.

This was our 4th time at Cha Cha Cha's and it's always enjoyable. A light lunch of tapas and a glass of sangria. What's not to like! An eclectic place...unusual décor, which just adds to the charm. After lunch...it was one to Golden Gate park...just steps away.

We entered the place for recovery after strolling up and down Haight Ashbury plus shopping. It looks like a lively and welcoming place - and it sure is. We had 3 tapas, mushrooms, calamari and fryed bananas, all was excellent. So were the drinks.

Had a really fun evening at this venue. The margherita is great as is the sangria. We took the waiter's advice and shared a couple of dishes. The food was vibrant and spicy but not overpowering. The decor is typically cuban and overall it was a fantsstic evening

Cute spot! Crowded on the last Friday night of the year--but the worst bartender I have ever encountered. Basically told me he didn't have to be friendly when confronted. Um, ok. Get another job, Aldo, if you are overwhelmed or not finding the joy in your job. YOU'RE A BARTENDER!! Catered to people at the bar who ordered food (although never came back to offer us ANYTHING--much less a glass of water). We ordered a $50 pitcher of Sangria and didn't order food much to his disappointment. Then proceeded to tell us we would have to move from the bar if someone else came and was ordering food. Ok. Well, they never came and STILL told us to move from the bar and we were never invited back. Seats stayed empty. We finished our pitcher and we went NEXT DOOR TO THE PUERTORICAN SPOT to enjoy some apps and more sangria. Incredible. Will never return.

This place has so many great reviews that we had to try it and we were not disappointed. Great ambiance, good service and food. We shared a three of small plates, two were off the hook delicious but the third wasn't to my liking. It was the empanada. I LOVE empanada's but I did NOT like the flavor or the consistency or this one. One bite and I was done ... not good for me but my boyfriend liked it and was more than happy to eat all of it. We all have different likes and dislikes. I'll go back but I won't have the empanada.

Seafood Paella with almost no seafood but a lot of chicken and sausage? Olive from a jar I can find in a grocery store and rice who taste the same thing as the one in a can? For 17$ (the small plate), I think it's a racket. I was sitting at the bar, nobody ever asked me if I wanted something else, and it's so dark! There is no lights.

Four of us went for Saturday lunch, without a reservation, and got the last available table. Service was quick and friendly. Three of our party went for a wide selection of tapas and I chose the paella. The tapas were freshly cooked and the quantities were generous. The paella was, without doubt, the best I have ever eaten. Prawns, scallops, calamari, chicken, chorizo, salmon, mussels, fish and a saffron infused broth. Absolutely wonderful. Would we eat here again? Absolutely.

I had 10 family members and the host seated us and we only waited for 10 minutes! We ordered family style and everything was very good and our service was great! I recommend it for a couple or a big party like ours! Great atmosphere! I'm not a sangria drinker but women seem to love it! To sweet for me!

I love this place! I've been coming here since college and it still can't be beat. This place has the most delicious dish ever creamy curry shrimp. I'm salivating just thinking about it. There's a very laid back atmosphere, so you can fully enjoy. Great for sharing small plates and a pitcher of sangria.

While the atmosphere is informal the food is great. The ceviche was tender, lemony, with just the right spice. Fried plantains yummy and vaca Frita crisp and tasty. The jalapeño margarita left this lovely lime heat in your mouth. We want to go back and try other dishes!

Extremely friendly service starting with the greeter at the door. Fast, polite service. No rush to get us out. Cuban restaurant, the atmosphere of a carnival with Venetian masks added. Surprise, surprise, no coffee with lunch. The food is good, large portions.

This restaurant came as a recommendation so we walked there from USF for dinner one night. It's a quirky and fun sit down Latin American restaurant. They serve food tapas style so you can share. Everything we ordered was very good but the service could have used some improvement, to the point half our diners didn't want to leave a tip.

It was a great gathering of friends. Food was great. Tapas style. I only wish it was a little cleaner. Bathroom needs a deep clean.

So refreshing! Delicious, courteous, and gracious. Found it in Haight-Ashbury after being stuck on a hop-on, hop-off bus being buffeted by the Pacific Ocean wind on the Golden Gate bridge...and ling hair whipping in my face! Thank you! Rejuvenating!

Had a girls trip stopped by for lunch. Had the Classico 😊 sandwich with the salad, my sister had the steak sandwich with plantains which were amazing should have got those instead.

Nice place in a hippy-nostalgic area of the town, it offers a latin cousine (mexican I think) in a friendly mood. One of the few restaurants open till 10 PM in that district.

The place was busy when we got there but had a line out the door when we left. We ended up sitting at the bar which I enjoyed although my friends would rather be at a table. Music was really chill. Bartender was pleasant. I didn't like my meal that much but was very pleased with the sangria! I will definitely be back. This was a neat little place.

My sister and I went after visiting de Young Museum. We both had the Cuban sandwich which was yummy and the other half went home! Sides with the sandwich were salad or fried potato wedges which were great. Other items on the menu included paella and a very difficult to find warm bacon/spinach salad which I am going to bring my boyfriend back to have. Our bill including drinks was, I think, $40.00

My husband and I came for lunch after his back surgery at Kaiser He was still groggy from the sedation and in pain. We ask the maitre d if we can sit at the booth because it will give him some comfort. There are 4 empty booth and they're only 3 other customers at the time. He said the booth is only for 4 or more guest but he is going to ask the waiter if it's ok. The waiter (did not get his nane)said NO they can't do that So I explain to him my husband situation. He rudely answered back " That doesn't change the situation" not even apologize for it. I was disgusted by the attitude and walk out. I will never and will let everyone I know especially my family who love the food there to never step foot there again. That was inhuman.

My husband and I walked to Cha Cha Cha after an afternoon at the DeYoung Museum. Beautiful one mile walk that included a stroll through the rhododendron garden in Golden Gate Park. We both had the evening special of Blackened Salmon. It was beyond expectations. Tastie with just the perfect amount of heat(spice). We shared a fantastic caramel flan for dessert. My husband liked his Kolsch beer that the waiter recommended. Prices were incredibly reasonable for great food. Also loved the funky ambience. Feel lucky to have found this place thanks to other reviewers.

Yet, it is true that their tapas are delish... the decor matches the locale in the Haight/Ashbury area...the sangria called for seconds .... and it fulfilled my theory that if a place is busy, it must be good. And it was. Definitely order the shrimp in some delicious sauce and use the french bread to sop it up. We like the plantains too, nice and crispy, not soggy, and the right amount of sweetness served with black beans and crema. Go and enjoy.

This place was great: Friendly servers, a laidback vibe and quirky decor, plus the shrimp dish was droolicious - would go back just for that!

Cha Cha Cha is an institution in Haight Ashbury. Definitely a great place to get a pitcher of Sangria and their food is great too. Most of their dishes that we've had have been amazing. The mussels, calamari, arroz con pollo, rice and beans, quesidillas, are all delicious. You cant go wrong stopping here. And the prices are reasonable too.

I had the Cajun shrimp, my my was I amazed!! The flavored were bold, savory, spicy, just what you'd expect from a plate reading Cajun. My sister had the arroz con pollo, and it's as Cuban as you can get. I tasted it and man o man did I fall in love with it. The rice was moist, but properly cooked. The chicken was sliced to perfection. Sweet, savory, a bit of kick to it. My friend, who happens to be a vegetarian, found a veggie plate and went for it. She had the veggie paella and fell in love. She hates cauliflower green olives but se truly loved how well seasoned the whole plate was. She said she liked how each distinct veggie tasted and the combination was just well thought. The cooks looked happy doing their job and the love was felt in their food. The salsa was authentic Mexican, doesn't make sense but hey it was good. As a Mexican American I give it a thumbs up, spicy and delicious. The guacamole was good too. All in all, service, food, and atmosphere was truly spectacular. Don't believe me?? Try it! Don't trust a book by its cover.

Very nice; great atmosphere. They had a band playing great music. Food is Cuba/Puerto Rican/Caribbean fusion. They say they are tapas but plates are a good size for 1 person. Parking is a problem so either street parking, walking, or share drive.

I love Cha Cha Cha and have been coming here for years. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. Start by sharing a pitcher of sangria and order the house salad, cajun shrimp and plantains. Yum! I used to live around the corner and take visitors, who always thanked me for taking them somewhere they wouldn't have found themselves. I now live in Australia, but head straight to ChaChaCha every time I'm in SF.

We happened upon Cha Cha Cha across the street from our hop on/off bus tour stop. Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Spoke to others in line who went there often. They recommended the Cajun shrimp and sangria. The Cajon shrimp was delicious! In a creamy sauce with an after hint of heat. Just the right amount of spice. Served with fresh crusty bread, you'll want to soak up all the sauce! We also had a Classic Cubano sandwich, so yummy! The roasted pork was moist and flavorful. The ham was juicy and salty. A perfect combo. A side of crispy, fried potatoes...so good! The sangria was average, but a good accompaniment to the meal. We enjoyed Cha Cha Cha so much we came back again! This will be a SF staple!

Wonderful service, polite staff, delicious food and fun atmosphere! This is a must if you are going to be in San Fran.

Visited after a recommendation and my wife loved here prawn curry, I however found the jerk chicken to be lacking in spice. The peppers we ordered to start were very nice. Service was good but I wouldn’t rush back here.

We all loved it! And the Sangria is just as fabulous as they say - and packs a mighty punch. Friendly service and lively atmosphere. Highly recommend:)

We wanted a decent, quick eat, before heading to the airport. Quick eat we got, decent, not so much. Waiter was less than pleasant, food was a C- at best, at the restaurant did not feel clean.

I have been to this location before, and I have to say they have been consistent with the quality of their food. I don’t live in the area so the last time I was here was about a year ago. I have to say that if I could, I would eat here at least once a week! The Cajun Shrimp is THE BEST! It has just the right amount of kick to it without burning your tongue. Dip your bread into it for the perfect combination. My daughter ordered the pork quesadilla and it was really good as well. Service was pretty good as well. We were seated quickly and our food came pretty fast despite it being a full house. Can’t wait to come back!!

Read this was a great place to eat in Haight & Ashbury area. Ate here for lunch. Very short wait. We ordered sangria which was strong and very tasty! For lunch we ordered the Chicken Polliard which was delicious! We dipped the bread in the Dijon sauce. We also ordered the BBQ pork quesadillas which were very good as well. The restaurant is interestingly decorated with intimately placed tables. Service was ok, could have been better. I would definitely eat here again.

Amazing tapas with quick, helpful service in a unique area. Perfect place to stop while in Haight and Ashbury to have a drink and some food.

Love, loved our server - she actually works the bar -can't recall her name- but she takes her job seriously! I do not like hot spicy and avoid pork - difficult to help me out out a Cuban place, but help she did. She stirred me in just the right direction with some cream soaked chicken and I don't like beer but again, she was right on with a suggestion from the tap. Then followed right up with a glass of water. I told the hubby to leave her a giant tip. Hubby loved the pork chop and sides. Great atmosphere. What more could you want on a Sunday afternoon in the Haight District!

cha cha cha is pretty unique, based on haight, it still keeps the spirit of the 60ies.. the tapas dishes are just among the best i ever had, and the quality has remained at a high level over the years..

First went there twenty five years ago, still love it! If you can find a copy of their cookbook Cook, Eat, Cha, Cha, Cha get it

After a long bike ride what a great place to eat. Service was warm and inviting. Our cerviche and peppers were excellent. The mixed paella was very good. Would definitely come back next time in San Francisco.

I know this will sound like I am ranting and I probably am. I have been coming to Cha Cha Cha for many years and I have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere except for the last two visits. My prior visit was 2 years ago, and my last one was 4 days ago. My review 2 years ago was not flattering and unfortunately this one is the same. Pros: the restaurant has a nice vibe to it. Its small restaurant, The Spanish Rice and Beans, Platanos and Cajun Shrimp are pretty good. The Cubano Classico is the WORST! I have had it here before and it was good but they are now using a processed ham and VERY LITTLE roasted pork. Its TERRIBLE!!!! The Sangria is still good. Con: The seating leaves a lot to be desired, uncomfortable chairs which are very close together where you are bumping into the other customers. The manager is still as unfriendly and uncaring as he was 2 years ago. I am amazed he still has a job. NO people skills at all. The older busser is quick and nice. I wish I could love this place again but until the manager goes and the food improves I will go elsewhere in SF for a decent meal. I know I wont get it here.

We sampled ceviche, enchiladas, wings, and other things, with their house sangria pitcher. After a long wait to get a table (no reservations, first come first served, and limited in size) service was fast, and food was generous and tasty. People who know both Cha Cha Cha's tell us this one is the one to visit.

It's a funky place and fits with the neighborhood. Can be a bit loud but the food was good and the Sangria packs a punch! Was a little disturbed with the not so clean bathroom but overall a good experience and fun lunch with friends.

We stopped in and got seated right away. Our food was so very good. I had the steak sandwich and the flavor was so good! The sides are actually huge so be careful when ordering other side items unless you are especially hungry. We ordered a side of rice and beans with our meal and it was a huge platter. Will def come here again. Very tasty!!!!

Awesome place in the Haight and Ashbury area of San Fran. I had an everything burger, others had tapas. Large portions and friendly service. We ate at 2pm, and the place was still busy. Enjoy if you are in the area!

We arrived right at the 5:00 PM opening and within an hour the restaurant was full. We had an incredible meal with great atmosphere and Sangria second to none. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Had a nice lunch with my daughter. Ordered the steak sandwich as Cuban sandwich was out. Sangria was very fruity and tasty! Afro Cuban Decour was interesting and the Cuban jazz made the ambience very enjoyable. Platanos and moros tapa was very good. Festive atmosphere!

Funky place in a funky neighborhood. Happy hour had small buy yummy menu and their sangria is very good. Great atmosphere for a night out with friends, would be something you find in Barcelona.

We didn't have reservations and we were able to get a table on a Thursday around 7pm... great food, good pricing! We had sangria (yum!) the ceviche, pork/lechon, wings, spanish rice, etc.. it's tapas but the portions are generous. Service was good, good experience all around! Would definitely go again!

very authentic, outstanding food. great menu, great service and outstanding food at a reasonable price in Haight-Ashbury area. Rice Beans Jerk chicken - need I say more?

Great Cubaño food. I salmon, quesadilla, plantains, avocado salad, beans. All good and very tasty. Worth a visit for the lunchtime specials.

My friend and I were walking the height district when we decided to stop for lunch. Found this Latin- Mexican restaurant – Cha Cha Cha. The inside décor brought me back to Mexico . Waiter was friendly and accommodating. My friend had the fish (salmon) tacos and he said they were delicious. I had taco salad with grilled chicken which was yummy as well.

A wonderful Cuban restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly and warm, you feel welcome from the first moment. The food is excellent, authentic, fresh and prepared with a lot of love. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming – place with soul, which we are happy to recommend. We will definitely be back!

There was a live rat in the men's bathroom. In addition, the food quality has significantly deteriorated since we ate there several years ago.

We went for Happy Hour - they didn't have one of the main HH offerings, the Calamari, ready...it wasn't ready the whole time we were there and we heard the servers apologize to patron after patron. Other HH specials were Prok or Chicken Quesadillas or Fried Potatoes or Chicken Wings - all about $9. Instead I had Platanos with Black Beans - good tasting but not enough bean to plantain - and we had Mussels, good but not exciting. Our waiter disappeared halfway through our stay only to show up when we needed to leave with coffee for the crew. Our loss - we didn't have time to get any dessert. This visit was a bit of a letdown. However, the atmosphere is so great I might give them another try next time I'm in town.

At first glance this cute spot doesn't look like much, but the menu posted had a LOT to offer, so we went in. What a pleasant experience! Great service, comfortable and spacious, and the food was fantastic. Especially notable: the ceviche, the cajun shrimp, and the warm spinach salad. Very good beer and wine selection too!

Sangria, atmosphere and delicious food. Very impressed with portions sizes and the quesadillas were the best I've ever had. Service was also fantastic- always topping up cold ice water for the table which was ideal in the warm weather.

Went with my boyfriend & daughter. He had a salmon sandwich & I ordered the jerk chicken. It was exquisite. The white rice tasted like it was made with cocunut water which gave it a unique flavor. The sangria was refreshing. Wish we would've ordered a pitcher. There will be a next time!

Quaint street with a quaint looking restaurant and some retro decor. A warm greeting as we mingled with other tourists customers. The sangria is really great. A pitcher easily served six of us. The jerk chicken we ordered served two of us and our side orders of plantain chicken wings and shrimp had us all plump at the end. I would easily recommend this restaurant and its staff again.

This is amazing Tapis restaurant . the beer is good and the food even better. we chose 4 dishes which were more than enough food for 2. Each dish was superb...so tasty!! T service was good. we went on recommendation and it was great advice. it was quite busy being a weekend night but a 20 min wait and a beer was well worth it. The price was good and the by the glass wine better priced than most and generous in the serving volume.

Good tasty tapas with generous portions. We had lunch there and the service was quick. Lovely IPA on draft too. The squid is worth checking out

Came to Cha Cha Cha based on reviews. The staff were friendly. There is a full bar area if you just want to come for sangria. The sangria was an 8/10- split a half pitcher for two people. Our favorite was the warm spinach salad!!!

We tried this restaurant on the Haight Street, As there is another on Mission Street Good is still amazing the black mussels, the chicken in cream sauce, rice, roasted potatoes with sauce. all so good. Fast service friendly Atmosphere

We dropped by on a Saturday night and thought we may need a reservation but we did not which was very pleasing. All tables were full so we were offered seats at the bar which we gladly accepted. The bar staff were very friendly and cheerful and made us comfortable and quickly delivered our drinks and food menus. We chose light snacks however pleasingly the servings were large and prepared very fast. The restaurant had a great vibe and guests were of all ages. We will visit again.

As we were looking at the menu on the outside deciding whether to go in, a patron said she had driven 30 miles to get here and we couldn’t find a better place! She recommended the warm spinach salad, Cajun shrimp, jerk chicken and the sangria. We had them all and they were awesome! Cerviche is huge, but not nearly as good as the other dishes. Vaca frito was great, too.

we started out at the place next door which doesn't have a dinner feel. this was just right. great atmosphere and good food, good service. The portions were generous for tapas and interesting flavors. we enjoyed it and would definitely go back.

Tasty, Spice and different, good option after visiting golden gate park an having a walk around the 60s neighborhood

Had lunch here during our visit to Haight. Great find, great food, great service and resonably priced too! The food wasn't as spicy as i'd expected but that wasn't a problem. Would definately recommend. Don't pay too much notice to the negative reviews, this is in a downtown area and your expectations have to be adjusted accordingly!

Ate here on the recommendation of a friend. The atmosphere is fun and lively. We ordered a bunch of small plates and all were excellent. Standouts were the plantains, mussels, paella, and pork. The Sangria has a kick!

I came in around 5:30 on a Sunday. The hostess offered me a seat at a table or the bar. Being by myself, I did not want to take up a table for 3, but the bar area smelled like long-aged stale bar. Table it was. I asked the waitress what would suffice for one. She recommended the lechon asado, seafood paella, and arroz con pollo. I went with the seafood paella. After some time, I thought to order wings. That would allow me leftovers of both for the next day. Surprisingly, the wings came out super fast. Ironically, while they were steaming on the outside, they were lukewarm on the inside. I really enjoyed the paella. I will come back and try other items on the menu.

Efficient service at the end of the main drag. Scrumptious warm spinach salad that was enough for at least 2 people. Highly recommend.

First, but certainly not the last time I'll come here. My friend and I came for lunch and decided to get a few plates to try. The Spanish rice is great but the jerk chicken was delicious! Good portion sizes and filling. Don't miss out on the sangria either! overall it was a good experience and the staff are very friendly.

We arrived around 5. There were a few happy hour offerings. We chose crab cakes and chips & guac. Sangria is a must. Fun restaurant environment. Height street still alive with thrift stores and transient crowd.

Chachacha is very busy so you would think the food was good. It is ok but not really worth waiting for. But it does have a good vibe and it is in a great area.

The tapas do not disappoint. The interior is like a Mexican fever dream that takes you completely out of the din of the Haight, The sangria is some of the best in the city.

Pleasant surprise, a block from Golden Gate Park this 1970's throwback complete with suspended beads is worth your patronage. The cuisine is Cuban influenced and very tasty.

Ceviche - much bigger than we all thought it would be. Was really good though! And came with chips Chicken wings with guava-chipotle Chile glaze - Amelia says tastes like mole sauce. Also big portion. Came with like 10 wings. We couldn't finish it Cajun shrimp with spicy cream sauce - we really liked the sauce. Goes will with the free bread. Would be good with pasta too Fried new potatoes with chile pasilla aioli - potatoes didn't have seasoning which I liked because usually seasoned potatoes are too salty. The skin was nice and crispy and the sauce was good Steamed mussels - nothing special

We had a long bike ride up the hill from the Fisherman's Wharf to the Haight because the Cha Cha Cha had been recommended to us. It was definitely worth the trip. Buzzing, cool, Caribbean atmosphere and good food. We very much liked the pork with Yucca. Als the marinated chicken wings were excellent.

Great authentic vibe in Cha Cha Cha, staff were very welcoming, setting was great, food was excellent, on a crazy street where you see it all, this was a great escape for some chill time to eat, search it out, its fab.

We ate here today, service was good and speedy. Prices were reasonable 5 dollars a beer 12 dollars a sandwich. We both had a Cuban sandwich and it was very tasty! Very quirky restaurant.

Excellent food and good service. For a tapas restaurant, you won't find a place that has larger portions. Food quality is good and everything tastes great. Not at all inexpensive, but not overpriced. I recommend the fried calamari, the sauteed mushrooms, and the chicken quesadilla. This is not a typical quesadilla, but essentially a tortilla stuffed with shredded barbecue chicken. I saw other menu items heading out to different tables, and everything looked amazing. I've been coming to Cha Cha Cha for many years. The one on Mission Street closed, so the Haight Street location is all you've got. I definitely recommend it.

Located on the end of Haight nearest Golden Gate Park, this restaurant gets serious props for the tapas and the fantastic cuban style sandwiches! We order waaaay to much, but in the end we still didn't have enough to take back to the hotel - you just keep eating and eating and drinking (sangria) and eating. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent food! And a great atmosphere. The tapas are fun to share. The roasted potatoes are especially popular with our group. And the sangria is a popular choice.

Worst dinning experience in a city full of wonderful food. The waitress was busy flirting with other wait staff and ignored us because we has are2 kids with. The food at the other Latin might have been better as we were told it was good by another person staying at our hotel. However, since we were touring the Haight Ashbury area that day we thought we would try it. food was at best average, albeit cold because the waitress was reoccupied. Our bill for lunch items only came to $72.00. I usually tip pretty generously having waited tables in college. hover after asking for our bill three times so we could Comintern our tour, I put $80 (4 $20.00 Bills on the table). I was purposefully under tipping the service was that bad. She then follows us out and indicates we on left three and owed her more money. To avoid the conflict I handed her another $20 bill. So yep the worst meal in SF ever cost me a hundred bucks.

The vibe in this restaurant is very cool! It's delicious food and small and cozy. I had the paella which was spicy and delicious. The guacamole too had a bite to it...loved it!!! Would definitely go back and recommend.

We went to cha cha cha for lunch and the food we had was sooo tasty. Had one of our best guacamole and tortilla chips ever!

We had been to this place many years ago and were pleased to see it is still around in the Haight. Just a few blocks from Golden Gate Park. It is brightly colored and decorated inside, and we sat in a round family size booth. The service was great and the food came out very quickly. Our family of 4 shared 7 dishes, they are tapas style but generous portions! Delicious selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Everything was amazing. Also split a pitcher of their yummy red sangria. Very reasonable value too. Would go here again when in the neighborhood!

Really reliable option to have a snack in the Haight Ashbury quarter, not too expensive tapas and side dishes that were really delicious. I guess you could also easily have a full lunch there but it may be less cost efficient. The quesadillas were particularly awesome

We decided to choose a restaurant in this eclectic area based solely on how crowded it was. No going online, checking reviews etc. What a great find. This place was hopping. The staff was great and very attentive. The kitchen is in full view and the chefs were working at a nice happy tempo. It just seemed like everyone there was "chill". Food was really yummy and reasonably priced. Great find for us.

Very welcoming, fabulous tasting food a must do on a visit to Haight-Ashbury. Small plates for lunch, great sandwiches and atmosphere not to be missed!

A little funky, but well worth it! Food is excellent, service is average, and in a quirky part of town close to Golden Gate Park. You MUST get a pitcher of their renowned sangria's - best we have ever had!

My friend and I just wanted to grab a drink and walked into Cha Cha Cha. After about a minute of checking out the amazing food display on everyone's tables we knew we'd be dining here as well. Hands down one of the best tapas places I have ever been in the US. Everything feels authentic from the wait staff, the decor, the plating, the taste. We wanted to order everything, but our server cut us off after three plates stating that was plenty. BEST SANGRIA EVER!! I highly HIGHLY recommend coming here.

Cha Cha Cha has been one of my favorite restaurants to visit in SF for over 25 years. This last visit was upsetting and the worst though. My GF and I arrived on a wet. rainy Tuesday afternoon for lunch. There were only 2 occupied tables and 1 booth at the time and during our entire lunch. Due to back issues I asked for us to be seated in a booth instead of a table. The waiter said we couldn't because the booths were for 4 or more people. I said understand, but because of my back I would be more comfortable in a booth. He said "NO"! I then asked for the manager who I thought would be more accommodating, but that was a mistake. A young man came out and I explained my situation, but he could care less. He said since it was just the two of us we had to sit at a table. I acknowledged that fact, but pointed to the fact that there was only one table in use, it was raining and again about my back. He just turned around and walked off saying "no". I told him that was not good Customer Service to which he ignored me entirely. It is a shame that this person is in a position of authority. I live in LV and Customer Service is VERY important. I guess since Cha Cha Cha is established the managers can treat customers with such contempt. Not venting, just my opinion and observation. Also, because of sitting on the HARD chair my back started to hurt by the end of the lunch. I am sure the manager was pleased about that. He would continually look over at us and roll his eyes. I will say that the service we received from our waiter was far superior to the treatment from the manager. The waiter was attentive and pleasant, especially when we started speaking Spanish. The manager kept looking over at us and rolling his eyes. Very grown up. The food was good as always, We spent over $100 for lunch, including sangria, but not the tip. Consider it a going away present as I doubt I will return again.

I read the great reviews on here regarding this restaurant and wanting something different from the normal burgers, pizza and fast food in this area we decided to visit. I'm a vegetarian so I was really happy to see many dishes that were meat free. I was shocked to see the restaurant almost full when we arrived just 20mins after opening, so we had high expectations at that point. We ordered the new potatoes, cheese quesadilla, plantain and Vegetable paella. The dishes come when they are ready and first to arrive was the quesadilla it was fantastic and I can certainly recommend the potatoes and plantain followed equally delicious and finally the Paella, it was only when halfway through the dish that we discovered some bits of bacon. I was really disappointed and called over one of the staff to explain. He in turn called the manager who did apologise right away and went directly to the kitchen to find out what had happened, he removed the cost of the dish from the bill. I guess everybody has a mishap once in a while so I was still really pleased overall with the rest of the food and service. I would recommend 3 or 4 dishes per two people for a good amount of food. The sangria sold in either glasses, half or full jugs is also nice. Worth a stop here for tasty food.

This place is decorated, umh, colorfully. The lunch was §13 + tax and tips. The quality was ok but not that extraordinary as they advertised on the door.

The experience at CHA CHA CHA was sensational! The decor is different, it's funny, but the space is very welcoming. Excellent service, friendly and professional at the same time. And the food is delicious, we liked everything we ordered, including our teenage children. It was great to have lunch there after exploring Golden Gate Park and then visiting the neighborhood's cute shops and windows.

Arrived early which allowed us to pick the table we fancied. Waiters were all extremely friendly and gave great advice. I picked the lechon starts which was more than enough and very nice (wish white rice and beens). Rest of the party was also happy with their choices. Restaurante has an interesting decor and good ambience. Would return.

We came across this place after getting off an on-and-off bus tour. Wanted to walk around Haight a little and this place opened while we were standing in front of it. Pulled chicken sandwich was excellent and the mussels were very good. The plantains were a real treat. Service was quick.

So, doing the tourist thing in San Francisco this part of town is a must and this restaurant at one end of the main street is well worth a visit. It is certainly popular and busy. The food is good, plenty of vegetarian options here, and prices I would say were definitely reasonable. Being popular, it does get busy at times and there may be a wait at times for groups, certainly over 4, but couple usually get a seat quickly enough, so watch out for that. The service was a bit variable, but as we were there during a busy time, I can understand the staff's stress. Even so, could have been a bit better. Definitely worth a visit if you are in this part of town.

Just amazing food and sangria in a fun atmosphere. Milk Bar across the street before and after dinner didn't hurt either. Caribbean tapas are such a great idea. The shrimp were delicious and the beans and fried plantain fantastic. We could have stayed here all night or come back again and again. Get here early, it fills up fast!

GREAT RESTAURANT. Too much fun. Food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Packed but we were seated immediately and served quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious! Perfect environment in Haight Ashbury area. It's a MUST visit and eat here if you are in the area. Loved!

We were looking for a quick bite at a local restaurant and stopped in ChaChaCha. Authentic Cuban cuisine, it offered a variety of choices all flavorful and nice sized portions (even the small plates). Would give it a try!

My friend and I stopped in with our husbands after a long day of exploring the city. All we wanted was a nice drink. We tried the Sangria and it did not disappoint. It was delicious! We had some chips and guacamole on the side but they were very small plates. I can’t say much about the food but we loved the atmosphere and Sangria was to die for.

We had walked past this place without noticing it several times. It doesn't look much from outside but inside is fabulous. Mexican Caribbean menu. Jugs of sangria. Were told there would be a table 2ait but actually we got thru quickly. Food arrived quickly. A little slow to clear empties. Of its type food was good. Generous tapas portions. We couldn't finish.

I make it a point to come out to eat here everytime I visit and it never disappoints, sangria is very tasty and the food is yum too. it is a fusion of flavors.

If you are looking for fantastic food with friendly service, this restaurant is worth visiting. Nice easy-going place 👍

I confess my opinion got a vies... I was with a cousin of mine I haven't seen a long time and it was wonderful to meet her and her husband. The place is really cool and got a great food. We try some tapas and it was great! The people over there are great!

Food was good. Restaurant seems like a dirty bar. Poor air ventilation. Tiny dining area. Restrooms are trashed. Someone needs to tell the host to use some deodorant. Couldnt enjoy my dinner while the atmosphere reeked of body odor.

We pretty much "took over the place" with a very large group, we were seated at six or seven tables, and the staff handled everything beautifully -- each of us was able to have a separate check, they were quick and efficient. Forgot one thing of mine, but it came right out as soon as I reminded someone, and there was no confusion when it came time to pay. Our group arrived and left in several waves, and again, the staff rolled with the punches and took good care of everyone. Recommended! BIG portions of food, even though they're tapas. The quesadillas are a full meal.

Went here on recommendation. Tapas plates are amazing a made to share. Definitely get a pitcher or half pitcher of the sangria - it is amazing. We ate the Cajun shrimp and rice and beans - it was enough for two of us to split.

Fast, excellent service. Fair prices, great ambiance. Worth the walk from haight and ashbury. Appetizers are good tapas selections.

The food is always delicious and the bar is just fun! Try the Creole shrimp and soak up the extra sauce with bread. Great Cubans sandwich.

Have eaten here before and it was so good we're back 12 months later. You can choose to share small plates with your fellow diners or choose your own meal. I chose paella and it was probably the best paella I've ever had. Their sangria is pretty good too. Will I return? Yes, next time I'm in San Francisco

Great food and fun atmosphere! The Sangria is a must order drink. We loved the mussels and the plantine with black beans. Perfect place to unwind if you are with a group of friends.

Not much to look at on the outside, we noticed later all the awards in the window. Very eclectic atmosphere, Cuban based food. Friendly service, food is tasty and has good portions. Looked like it might get lively at night too. Worth a trip if you're in the area!!

We were visiting Haight-Ashbury neighbourhood and we decided to try it for dinner since we saw all these good reviews on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, the place was average -at best- and certainly didn't meet our expectations. Once you walk in, the place does indeed feel like you are in Cuba or some Caribbean island, although the rooms seems (or feels) a bit dirty. Bar area not something special (at least in the early evening). We tried the vaca frita (from the house signatures) and the burger. The burger was just average, there was nothing special about it. The vaca frita was almost inedible, it had a very bad taste and we couldn't it, so we were 'forced' to order a cheese quesadilla as well. Very limited selection of beers. I can't really understand all the hype about this restaurant, my only explanation is that the other restaurants in the neighbourhood are even worse. Decent, quick food but nothing more.

We stumbled across this on our walk through Height Ashbury and were drawn in by the interesting decor. The food did not disappoint, in particular the plantain fries, with amazing alioli. A fantastic place for sandwiches or tapas!

Overall food is good. We took tapas and nothing to say but the price a bit high for what it is. In addition, room is a bit too dark, musicien a bit too loud, service a bit too slow, not fully corresponding to what we have ordered, even some orders were missing. The bill didn’t correspond to what we have ordered (without any surprise). The place looks a fashion one, but mixed feeling in the end.

We went here as guests of locals and found the tapas to be delicious and there was quite a selection. The pitcher of Sangria was delicious too. I think it was pricey, but can't confirm because I didn't pay. The music was too loud for my preference but I still really enjoyed the meal.

I love Cha Cha Chas. It's the perfect restaurant if you are in the mood for tapas and a lively atmosphere. Insider tip: stick to the tapas and avoid the main dishes. The main courses are enticing but in my experience they lack flavor and pizazz. Stick with the tapas. Top favorites include: Cajun Shrimp Mushrooms Plantains Ceviche The wait is typically around 45 minutes to an hour for dinner (no reservations). Insider tip: There is also a separate waitlist for seating to eat at the bar, just ask the bartender to get on the list. Also, be sure to get the sangria. It's. so. good. It also hurts the next day, fair warning. But seriously, get it anyway. It's worth it.

The food was excellent. BBQ Chicken Quesadillas were my favorite along with the sangria. The Cajun shirimp was the favorite of the other ladies (I skipped it) and we all enjoyed the New Potatoes. Our server seemed a little unhappy almost to the point of annoyed. It was an extremely busy Saturday afternoon but it wasn't very welcoming.

I live in Central Florida, and we have a lot of Cuban cuisine available. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch as Cha Cha Cha, and both ordered chicken and yellow rice. Very good, the equal of what I am used to. A fortunate find. The portions were large, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Cha Cha Cha has become a regular on the too rare occasions I'm in SF. Just been back and it seems the same as ever. Not great food but good, with a unique environment. And excellent sangria. Don't go for gourmet dining but for some SF fun. I'll be back.

We tried Cha Cha Cha as, whilst on Haight Street, a man told us that Bobby McGhee and Janis Joplin once spent a consecutive 64 hours playing draughts at the bar. There was no sign of draughts in the modern venue, however, Service and price was average considering, the Cuban sandwich was a poor effort. Wouldn't recommend the place.

The mood was vibrant, the service good, and the food - delicious. I had the plantains as an evening snack, and they were just delicious.

some years ago, i stopped here on my motor bike and had a Warm Spinach salad, it was great. I brought my GF , who has not passed away and friends, it is kind of a fun place to go to the bar and eat Tapas.. but this time, we ordered the spanish rice and sea food thing, i did not like, and the shrimp thing was ok, mostly the bread and butter dipped in the sauce was good and the Sangria was fun , i have them bring me ice i like ice in it. i would order the Calamari ,, or the Spinach salad or some of the other things

Noisy, busy, great food, interesting people and staff, worthy of the neighborhood; still pretty funky. Our air bnb hostess recommended this restaurant. Ample portions served and prepared just fine.

We enjoyed the generous tapas and the sangria. Good service even though they were very crowded. Wait wasn't very long.

Cha Cha Cha.. what a fun place in the Haight. It was our second time there and once again, we were impressed. We shared the ceviche and a cuban sandwich with plantains and really enjoyed both dishes. Looking forward to returning the next time we are in San Francisco.

This was my favourite restaurant during our recent trip to SFO, due to the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the atmosphere. It was fun! Between the two of us, we ordered 2 mains and a side as we saw they were 'small dishes' but we couldn't finish it (lucky for one of the many homeless who frequent the street). We also ordered a jug of the sangria which was delicious and it would have been way too easy to have drunk too much but we reined ourselves in! Definitely recommend :)

Good place to stop while in Haight Ashbury. The service is good, the food is not amazing but good and filling, and the sangria certainly packs a punch.

Managing to squeeze our party of four in during a clearly busy evening the service continued to be good throughout. We shared various small plates including Arroz con Pollo which was very tasty. Would certainly revisit on a return trip to San Francisco.

This restaurant is located right on Haight street near the Golden Gate Park Pan Handle. Many happening activities near by....take a short walk on Haight street and one can see die hard flower youngsters hanging out doing their own acts of entertainment. Cha Cha Cha food is very good Choices of full delicious plates, Tapas and tasty drinks like Sangria Their signature drink. Try it...you'll like it.

A small restaurant in Haight street serving good music and atmosphere, service and food! 3 small plates to share is plenty for two persons (at least in Europe-standards - we didn't finish everything). We had the small plates with jerk chicken, potatoes and beef. Yum!

I sought this restaurant out via a Google search as I was heading to the Haight Ashbury area and I wanted tapas. I ordered the Cha3 Jerk Chicken with a side of Sauteed Mushrooms - this is a big feed for one but I was super hungry. I added a glass of Sangria and considered this my fave meal during my 2 week US holiday. Highly recommended!

A local shop owner recommended this place to my friend and I. We went for dinner and had an amazing time. The latin music is upbeat and the staff is friendly. The food is full of flavor and is a reasonable price. To top it off, we got a free caramel flan for dessert. I think that it was because I had waited to use the restroom for quite some time since the toilet paper had to be refilled. So grateful for the kind bartender who had a fun personality!

We decided to try some tapas at a Latin American restaurant for lunch for a change, and we were pleased with our decision. This restaurant is highly popular as all the tables were full when we arrived. Thus, our name was placed on a waiting list & we were told to wait at the bar for around 15 minutes. This gave us a chance to have a look at their drinks/dessert menu there. After the promised wait time we were shown to a booth which was great. We ordered half a pitcher of their sangria which was really good and had a good amount of kick. To start we had the ceviche (white fish) & it was spicy and sour which was really really good. Afterwards we had the steamed mussels, empanada with chicken curry, arroz con pollo, and fried calamari. There was also accompanying chips and salsa as well as bread. Everything was really flavorful, and the bread went well with the sauce from the mussels. Definitely had to try their desserts of coconut flan and tres leches cake. Unbelievably lovely! Really recommend anyone to try Cha Cha Cha.

I love this restaurant so much. It used to be a much loved hangout for me and my twenty something friends in the nineties. Now that I live in New York, I still make it a necessity

Found this place on TripAdvisor while visiting Haight St. Mostly Cuban tapas with hints of some other Latin cuisines provided an interesting cascade of flavor. Dishes were large for small plates and reasonably priced. Had the Lechon and a shrimp special with beet salad. Both were quite good.

We were so looking forward to having the same calamari experience we had the first time we dined here. The calamari was really tough and the serving size was a bit smaller than from 6 mos earlier.

We had a myriad of tapas at this little spot, and all of them were really quite good. We specifically liked the red beans and rice, empanadas, and plantains. The fresh lemonade and sangria were also really good.

Unique restaurant serving up a huge slice of atmosphere, eclectic Latin decor, great for mix and match sharing dishes, lively music, friendly staff excellent food and very reasonably priced, tables are closely packed but it just adds to the atmosphere

GET THE JERK CHICKEN. It is amazing. Their salsa was surprisingly delicious as well!! Service was great, the guys are very friendly. The inside is beautifully decorated. Eclectic and charming.

Exceptional. The variety of food options was amazing. I highly recommend going with several people to try the many different dishes. The portions are ample. The food was absolutely wonderful. I love that bread is served so one can sop up the delicious sauces left from the food. It was definitely one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. We were also pleasantly surprised that the bill was not unreasonable for the amount of food we ordered. The atmosphere is festive as well. We did not have to wait too long for a table, but enjoy a pitcher of Sangria and the time will fly.

We went on the recommendation on a local and it was amazing. Sangria is awesome and the food is all tapas style and so delicious. Small, quirky ambiance. Loved it !

I wasn't thrilled with this place because I don't eat this type of food. Those that do, would love it. VERY generous proportions and super friendly people.

Love love love... This place is a cracking spot. Great Caribbean food, simple tasty and delicious.. Did i say i loved it.

cramped space yet they went above and beyond to fit me in with my sleeping toddler in the stroller. The food was delish. And i can say this because im hispanic. It tasted homey. I recommend it for lunch. The hostess was very helpful and made sure i had space to have my baby sleep while i got a bite to eat.

Every time we come to San Francisco we have lunch at Cha Cha Cha, the pleasant latin style restaurant close to the famous record shop Amoeba. The food is nice, the prices are very reasonable. Altogether a satisfying experience.

Went here while on vacation after a recommendation - the food was really nice especially enjoyed the cajun shrimp. It was a little noisy - a sign of people enjoying themselves!

I have been going here since I was 6 years old. My favorite dishes are the shrimp in the skillet, ceviche, potatoes, and beans and rice. They have yummy sangria too! Busy location requires planning for parking.

We ended up getting tapas and enjoyed each plate more than the next. The atmosphere is fun and funky, and there is a vibrancy to the place that makes for an enjoyable experience. Don't expect fancy, but don't let that dissuade you.

OK - tell me your going to ply me with big pitchers of sangria and I'll be there. Tell me there is a great atmosphere and delicious tapas and ......I'll definitely be there! This is a great place to meet up with friends or family for a good vibe. (The cuban jazz music adds nicely to the whole experience) I recommend the cajun shrimp. But honestly, everything coming past our table looked delicious. Good service as well.
Waltz to the Cha Cha Cha!
Vibrant atmosphere in Haight/Ashbury. Great tapas, and the ‘world famous’ Sangria went down a treat in this fabulous place. Very popular, so you may have to wait at peak times. Highly recommended.
