If you like canned tuna, you will still be disappointed the $28 Nicoise Salad. Apart from the canned tuna, the rest of the salad was as tired and uninterested as the waiting staff. Valet parking was awesome.

It was my partners 50th birthday and staying here was on his bucket list. The place did not disappoint and it felt quite special being part of so much history. The court yard is extremely cute and we ended up eating breakfast there each morning, there really was no need to go anywhere else. The staff were amazing and so helpful. The rooms are large, though old, but that’s all part of the charm. Thank you Chateau Marmont.

Had lunch by the pool with friends then Spaghetti Bol in the main lounge as the garden was under repair..that’s where the piano is and we enjoyed testing George’s repertoire.A memorable night.

There is only valet parking and it is difficult to get into the place. The bar is tiny, the drinks are good. The restaurant was outdoors and very pretty. It was a Friday night and very crowded - mostly gorgeous 20 and 30 year olds. Very expensive, but it's a vacation. It is a very old and iconic hotel. I checked it off my bucket list.

always wanted to go for drinks or dinner but was invited by a visiting friend for breakfast on their enchanting warm patio

The Chateau is a Los Angeles classic, get a table in the garden, enjoy a cocktail or two and savour some delicious food in a casual but sophisticated atmosphere. The place itself is beautiful and a great place to bring visitors, you may well get to rub shoulders with some celebrity types!

my friends and I love to pop over to chateau for a bite often, it is amazing always. please be a gem and have a Manahttan at the bar they are so good

Had an amazing time. The ambiance is lovely and the food is delicious. Staff are friendly and welcoming. They were accommodating in assisting me with getting a reservation, and when I was unable to make the reservation due to a delayed flight, I was given another reservation for a later time.

Loved the veggie burger and brussel sprouts! My favorite cocktail was the Mule, with a very generous serving in a copper mug.

We thought we would stop by here and have couple drinks. Our waitress was very slow and didn't have much of a personality. Had the same experience at SUR so wondering if it is a California thing. No attempt at any small chat like "Where are you from" "Are you enjoying your stay here in California?" I have traveled a lot and ate/drank at many nice places and was very surprised at the lack of good service at both these places.

Given that spending a few nights at this hotel was financially not in my best interest, I had to at least try and have dinner here to get a glimpse into the history of Chateau Marmont. Based on the reviews I had read ahead of time, I figured I'd likely get a table tucked in a corner, treated as a nobody, and far away from where they put the celebrities and Hollywood elite. I knew that going in, and I was okay with it, I just wanted in. Much to my pleasure, that's not what happened at all. First of all, you're definitely going to want to make a reservation. They only accept reservations 2 weeks in advance, so make sure you plan ahead, especially if like me, you opt for a dinner reservation on a Friday evening. When I made the reservation over the phone, and after being put on hold for what seemed like a long time, the staff was friendly and helpful, getting me a reservation reasonably close to my preferred time. Upon actual arrival 2 weeks later, I once again found the staff very polite and helpful, instructing me where to go to get to the restaurant entrance. Just walking the steps into the building I was in awe of the character. Immediately feeling like I stepped back in time, I went up the elevator to the first floor, and walked slowly to allow it all to sink in. It really is a fantastic place to visit. When we arrived, the restaurant host informed us that they may need the table 2 hours later, which we were fine with, and after seeing the small size of the dining area, could understand why. We were then taken to our table, not tucked in a corner like I had expected, but instead fairly central in the outdoor courtyard, with excellent views all around us. While no celebrities were immediately within view, it was still just so amazing to actually be there. The wait staff was (again, contrary to what I had read) very polite, attentive, and respectful. We ordered drinks, appetizers, main course, more drinks, then dessert, and found everything absolutely delicious. The pace of the evening was perfect too. They didn't rush us like I thought they would, and instead allowed time to enjoy just being there. Part way through our dinner and as the evening progressed, we began spotting a few familiar faces, with several well-know celebrities seated just 2 tables from us. Out of respect for their privacy I won't name names, nor did we even consider trying to sneak a few photos, as that goes against what this place was all about. We were in their safe place, we were the visitors, so while of course we glanced over periodically, we did try our best to not look out of place. As our 2 hour timeframe came and went with no indication of anyone kicking us out to open up our table, we enjoyed another drink and just relished in living the lifestyle of the rich and famous, if only just for a while. Had we not eventually asked for the bill, perhaps we'd still be sitting there. There was no indication whatsoever that we were not welcome there. From start to finish the experience was impeccable, and something that I'll remember for a very long time. Yes it's expensive, but so are other restaurants of this calibre. This wasn't just a meal, it was an experience, and if you ever get the chance to go, take it!

Visited the famous Chateau for a drink only to be told upon arrival (after making a reservation) that they had an event and we wouldn’t be able to enter. Typical LA vibe (too cool for school) and the hotel staff is extremely snobby and rude. Skip entirely.

I met a friend for lunch because she was staying at this hotel. The service was good and the food was ok, way overpriced. We sat outside in the beautiful courtyard and we were surrounded with beautiful people. Basically its a place to be seen. The ambiance was great. I hope they would think about revamping their lunch menu.

Four stars because we thoroughly enjoyed the patio brunch. The ambiance is really cool and the food was excellent. Deduction of one star because the service was bad. It was almost comically bad until we relaxed and just chalked the service up to being European style where they leave you entirely alone and you have to grab their attention. While some would likely deduct a lot more stars for this, we were able to relax for over 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon without anyone rushing us out. That was really nice.

Great way to get a Hollywood experience in a historic hotel. Get a table outside if you can to enjoy the beautiful grounds and LA evening. Service was good and the food decent, but pretty basic menu. Come here for the experience, but if you're into the food scene, there's lots of much better options nearby.

It was our 2nd time in the Chateau - went there for the first time nearly 10 years ago. It is really nice to sit outside, enjoy the beautiful setting and spot the odd celebrity... ;-) But the food is really good, too - from sandwich to burger and steak, it was all delicious!

Being in the top 2% of Trip Advisor reviewers I feel I am accurate and insightful. I tend to write reviews that are positive from positive experiences on my travels. Unfortunately, not every experience is great. I waited a few days to calm down to write this because I really had to get over how badly I was treated at Chateau Marmont upon arrival. I was there to visit a long time friend and his business associate for a drink on the Terrace and we were to go off to a concert after. After a 30 minute Lyft ride to the hotel, I was greeted and interrogated at the valet stand by on overly Coco Chanelled door person with a list in her hand. Explaining who I was there to see and showing her their text messages on my phone and that they were up on the Terrace she called and after talking, said I could not go up to join my group. Asking why, she said they were not there or on her list so I could not go up. I showed my phone to her again. Then her attitude kicked in and she became more combative. Other valets just watched her. She wanted to get into it with me. I just waited at the wall and called my friends to come down. They both came down from the Terrace and tried to humor me. We got the car from the valet and left. So I warn you, while it seems like a great place (and I have been before and it is nice on the Terrace), it is the people that make a place great or terrible. This hotel chooses to be one that does not welcome guests, but interrogates them. I always thought the hotel business was the "Hospitality" business, but I found 0 hospitality at Chateau Marmont. You too might find the same.

We booked this 2 weeks in advance and got a nice table outside, although earlier than our preferred time as they reserve most of it for guests which is fair enough! We just had a main course as we'd had a rather indulgent day of food anyway. It's was nice without been top class which was a little disappointing given the stature of the location. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. It's a nice experience sitting in their patio and worth a visit.

The food is average and the service is slow or non-existent. I asked about the ingredients on the flat bread pizza and was not told about the blue cheese; I had to send it back. They remade it with no cheese so it was very bland.

I called ahead and made reservations for lunch 1 week in advance, but upon arrival they said I had no reservation for lunch, but that it would not be a problem. Thankfully it was a quiet day.. The food is good, but expensive. Go for the ambiance and the feel of Hollywood glamour!

A beautifully preserved piece of LA history. Magnificent building but dining outside in the lovely, protected garden ensures privacy. Menu is well thought out. Interesting drinks available for those willing to step out of the box. Service is unobtrusive and well paced.

Famous Hotel with a great Hollywood vive. Super cool lounge and breakfast patio to boot. Cozy bar. The Benedict's and the egg sandwich are a must eat. The blueberry pancakes were also delicious. Valet parking a must at 12 bucks. Worth a visit.

A treat for anyone looking for classic interior and the old Hollywood feel. Staff was very friendly. We had dinner and cocktails in the lounge with the piano bar. The atmosphere is really something to behold the food was good, not outstanding but good. Fun people watching, cozy and romantic. It's a full sensory experience. We were going to dine in the bar but it was not open on Monday or Tuesday's. We were lucky to get a table indoors. Larvae comfortable chairs and small bar/living room type tables made it cozier.

Courtyard dining in a secluded garden. The service is good but the menu is very limited. Don’t expect to be wowed by the food as it’s just ok. I didn’t take photos of our food as we were promptly told by the girl on the desk when we arrived that cameras were not allowed, very pretentious in this age of technology. I can’t say I’d rush back.

Typical Hollywood scene, plenty of pomp but that's all. Menu only ok and fairly overpriced. Food was nice but expected more.

After watching the movie Lost in translation its one of those places you want to visit. So it was on my list of places to go on my trip to LA last year and worth it. We had a friend staying there and we had a drinks in the garden post having dinner and drinks at the bar a few steps down on the hill. The hotel is lovely and has great private atmosphere. When I can afford it, will stay there one night to experience it.

We were very much looking forward to having dinner here. The ambiance was great and the food was delicious, especially the roasted sweet potatoes. However, our sever was awful. I would love to excuse his behavior by saying he was busy and overwhelmed... but he was neither. The restaurant was very empty. He was short with us, didn't say hello or even give us his name. He wouldn't take our drink orders and seemed annoyed when he had to take our food order. I honestly wanted to leave and go somewhere else, he was so rude it ruined our experience as much as we tried not to let it. Needless to say we probably won't return for dinner solely based on our waiters rude and cold behavior.

Old Hollywood is the best Hollywood. We go here for special occasions and for afternoon snacks - no matter the event we love to come here. Good consistent food. Amazing service.

located in the centre in a beautiful hotel. there is an inside area and outside patio. for sure weather permitting sit outside ! ambiance is great as is the food. staff more that helpful. must visit

We had lunch at the Chateau on the patio, and the food was amazing. We each had three courses, and the food was delicious, and the price was extremely reasonable. Service was professional and efficient, and the setting is really lovely.

Had dinner there with our adult children. Have heard stories that the waiters would be snooty or unfriendly and some negativity with the atmosphere and quality of the food. However, we found the staff to be quite charming and friendly and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. The food was good quality - about the level you would expect for the price. We didn't go to celebrity watch and we didn't see any, though we are fans of the film Somewhere which is largely set in the hotel. But this place is an essential part of Hollywood history and has a great old world atmosphere. Don't miss it.

We visited the Chateau for Breakfast in the restaurant, great experience! Great food and friendly service. A truly legendary hotel in West Hollywood! This is one of the most famous hotels around the world, located on sunset Boulevard (Sunset Boulevard)

Went for celebratory meal with my daughter. The two members of staff outside were aloof and no pleasantries were offered. They were no different when we were leaving and waiting for a taxi. The female haughtily told us to sit and wait in a what was essentially a lean to, which seemed to be the waiting area. The male did not acknowledge us. It would appear that as we are not in the film or tv industry we were not worth being pleasant to. I was expecting some opulence, glamour and luxury, instead it was dimly lit and seemed more suggestive of a less gloomier residence of Miss Haversham. Although the clocks hadn't stopped completely the interior did not seem that evocative of the beautiful Art Deco building. When we arrived I said we were booked for dinner, albeit it was 18:30 as it was either that or 22:45, and I was informed by the female host with a somewhat disdainful tone, you mean tea. Bizarrely there is no reference to tea on the menu. The meal was eaten in the courtyard area. Initially, we were inundated with waiters attending to us, it wasn't clear who was doing what. We both ordered steak and it did not come to the table as expected but this was quickly resolved by the waiter and taken care of on the bill. The waiter was lovely. The Wagyu steak was unremarkable, have had much better tasting Wagyu meat (eateries in Noosa, spring to mind). The frites were OK. However, the strawberry dessert was absolutely delicious, the mix of flavours excited the tastebuds and saved the meal. Two diners at the table next to us had their photo taken by a waiter, then a manager later went over to say no photographs were allowed! It does state this on the menu and they were finished their meal but why make it an issue once the photo had been taken, surely waiting staff are aware of this. Whilst we were eating there appeared to be a wedding planner showing a group around. They were stood by our table, talking loudly, on more than one occasion which I found irritating. There was also an unusual aroma that wafted out whilst we were eating, perhaps some of the shrubbery was moss phlox. Would not return and would not recommend it, it's far too pretentious.

went here on a Tuesday for lunch. it was gorgeous as it wasn't too busy and the staff were super attentive. If you can't get a lunch of dinner reservation, come here for a drink. It's a must for EVERYONE visiting LA.

Our meal was excellent. The service was excellent. My only complaint was the fact we were ushered out after exceeding a time limit. There were 8 of us, having dinner, drinks, wine, and desert...a profitable table in my eyes, yet we were told we had to move to another room if we wanted coffee after our meal because we exceeded the time limit. Perhaps that's standard, but just didn't sit well with me. Surely a table of our size, with the sales total we generated would warrant 15 minutes to have coffee. Otherwise it's 5 stars...but due to this policy I'd rate it 4.

My favorite hotel in LA and maybe the world. I will only stay here when in town. The atmosphere, staff, food, I cant think of anything negative. I always seem to run into celebrities whenever I am here as well, so if you are into that kind of thing.

Beautiful ambience, incredible food and impeccable service and staff, very attentive and knowledgeable. The whole experience is memorable and magical.

It was a tad off putting - from the concierge on way to valet who asked where you were going i.e. Restaurant or hotel and actually checked to see if your name was on reservations list - it was lol. Maid in ladies room was hovering waiting to clean after you - have to feel sorry for her plight. Bar area looked very nice, btw. Was told they would need table within two hours and that they were booked. Didn't look booked and there were lots of people who came and ordered apps while giving impression they were there to be discovered. My kind of place? As a native, no. Had beef tartare, hamachi, hummus, chopped chicken salad. Give the hummus and frose a pass.

Paid our $12 Valet charge, just to go have drinks. Hostess said we could only sit outside for 90 minutes, before we would have to give up our table. OK, fine, no problem. Then sat at our table for 15 minutes, without being waited on by anyone. Well, you burned 15 minutes of our time by ignoring us.....so we probably didn't have time to have a drink. Thanks for nothing. We returned to our hotel (The London, West Hollywood) and had drinks there, with much more attentive staff.

One of my favorite places in Hollywood to grab a drink and sit in the outdoor patio and perhaps do some celebrity watching. Great staff, wonderful food and beverage selections

The infamous Chateau Marmont, where John Belushi died, is one of those places you feel you need to try once in your lifetime. Parking is a big issue there and they a very restrictive about letting anyone on the property unless you are a hotel guest or have restaurant reservations. Lots of celebrities to see at this place. When I went I saw Lady Gaga - from afar. They definitely segregate between Hollywood types and the riff raff. Menu choices were limited and service just ok. It's now off my bucket list and I don't feel the need to return.

We were a group of 5. We ate outside I had spaghetti in a bolognese sauce it was good! Service was good, not overly friendly wait staff but nothing to complain about. After dinner we sat inside and listened to a piano player very relaxing.. A little Pricey but I was aware of the Prices before I went. They only make reservations for regular people for 6:30 it seems unless you are famous!! Lol

Such an iconic LA institution! A beautiful building that completely lives up to it's reputation! The bar and restaurant were buzzing...and yet they are very relaxing at the same time! (Except for the fact we had to vacate our table by 8pm.) The food was OK...but then we didn't really go for the reputation of the food! A throughly enjoyable evening! But one TIP... don't try and take any pics while you are in the restaurant.....a total no no!!!

We had a lovely lunch on the patio on Friday afternoon. The hotel did not disappoint, it was as i imagined, old school glamour. The food was surprisingly good, i had the chicken paillard and my husband had a salad. We got truffle fries to share which was a great idea, they were delicious. I struggled with what to wear as i had seen reviews saying people got turned away for being too casual but there were people there in shorts & t shirts. The woman were more smartly dressed in dresses or jeans. I would recommend to someone visiting the city and wants to do something a bit fancy.

Stopped here firstly to simply just be in this amazing place full of history. We stayed for a couple drinks and to soak in the atmosphere. Beautiful furnishings and the staff are impeccable, fantastic service and made us feel so comfortable. Would love to have had lunch aswell but had so much to squeeze in that day... maybe next time. We were seated with no hassles and the service was second to none.

OK people put this on your must go to restaurant for the food and service. I know a lot of people recommend going here because you may catch a glimpse of somebody that you are hoping to see. That was not my intention nor my desire I was going on the recommendation of a local friends advice for a good dinner. I'm going to get to the food in a second but I'll focus on the service. Everything was five star. The only thing that could be faulted is the place does feel a bit stuffy at first. Our wait staff made this all go away with their friendly and outgoing attitude. Now onto the food. Their wine list is quite impressive. You better bring two credit cards because some of the wine selections can get a bit out of hand. I can't remember the appetizers we had but I do remember one thing vividly. It was the Bolognese. I wanted to order another dinner for myself because it was that good. Embarrassment alone stop me from asking for a Bolognese to go. Next time I'm in LA I will be back thanks for the great time, food and service

Went with a group of friends - one a local who raved about it, how hard it is to get in and that celebrities will be there ( none of these things really appeal to me ). Service was adequate as was the food . But really it’s just a nice cafe . The manager was quite rude at the end when he made a big deal about us paying separately and my local friend said we still had to give him 20% tip . I won’t be doing that again

We went here for breakfast and the service was great. Absolutely gorgeous hotel off the beautiful Sunset Strip. The atmosphere is definitely glamorous and exactly what you expect - full of famous and industry people sitting around you, BUT the food was terrible. My eggs and home fries tasted like paper. The bread was over toasted and very hard as well. I would not return even though it was a fun and glamorous experience minus the food.

Went to CM for lunch. I love the old world hollywood charm about this hotel. It has so much history behind it. We were slightly sceptical about our visit as so many of these overly trendy places can treat you badly unless you are A list celebrity or high profiled. How wrong we were! We were welcomed warmly and shown to a really nice table. there was only 3 of us but we were given a sofa style able that was bigger than what we needed. it was very comfortable and generous. Our waiter was friendly, professional and a really pleasure to be served by. The service couldnt' have been friendlier. Yes it is expensive but i think for the surroundings and how popular the place is its totally worth the splurge. Food was great nothing special but we all had a really good burger each. We sat and drank wine all afternoon and jus took in the atmosphere! A must visit when in West Hollywood.....

Chateau was built to suit new yorker taste and not feel like LA. Those feelings prevail today. When you walk up the driveway you feel like you have entered another world. It's simply magical. The food and drinks are not bad either. A bottle of champagne at the chateau with friends is one of the best evenings you can have.

This restaurant offer a very interesting atmosphere during dinner time, all the nice people like to be there.but that all food medium quality service very slow . Nice location .a nice place to pass an evening, reasonably priced

Had a wonderful experience here. Staff were friendly and I was upgraded without even asking. What a treat. I loved staying here and would definitely go back again. Food was very good and I had the pool all to myself.

Unfortunately the CM trades off its celeb reputation. I would never dine here again. The food was absolutely appalling, over salted over cooked, so sub standard. I had salmon which was tiny, cold and served with over cooked smelly sprouts. My friends steak tartare was not made/prepared at the table as is the norm for this dish and arrived on her plate resembling what can only be described as dog food. The service was non existent we had to pour the wine ourselves and ask for our bill a couple of times. Not one member of staff came back to the table to ask if we needed anything or to enquire if everything was ok. We carried our unfinished bottle of wine with us to the lounge, we were not offered glasses or an ice bucket. Again service nonexistent... best part of the evening was the fabulous piano player... Don't bother eating here ... possibly worse meal ever consumed in USA. Perhaps I should have dropped that my dining companion was recently EMMY nominated ... as that seems to be the only currency that counts here.

Booked a table last minute to sit outside in the beautiful garden restaurant. Had a delicious salad, as well as a shared meze with humous and pita(pretty sure we were the only people in LA eating bread!), and calamari. Anne Hathaway was sitting 3 tables away! A lovely treat before heading back to London.

Love the decor, bar and restaurant of this legendary property where John Belushi od-ed on drugs. Great spot to lunch with pals.

I've been coming here for many years and through many phases, as have my lunch companions, one of whom lived in the hotel for two years. Yes, it's got history and atmo, but you, the diner, aren't going to get to enjoy much of that. The first clue as to the New World Order at this formerly fun rock and roll Hollywood venue was when the hostess (and I use the word loosely) dropped the menus on the table and turned her back on us without a word. Then came all the "can't do's" from the apologetic waiter: can't have this or that, can't substitute anything, the kitchen won't let us do that, can't take a photo of you, etc. I mean, please, no photos? It's not like the Obamas or Tom Hanks were sitting next to us. Then, when asked about a certain wine, instead of replying with information, the waiter dismissively said, "I don't drink." Yeah, it was shaping up to be a great day. We had a bit of wine, burgers, a bowl of pasta, and one of us only had a bowl of soup. One burger was severely undercooked, so that friend got to watch the rest of us eat while waiting for her meal. I must say that while all the fare was mediocre, and nowhere near the almost $100/each it cost, the skinny fries were quite good. There was an embarrassing mixup with the bill, of course, because the waiter wasn't "allowed" to charge our cards the way we asked him to. Ugh. I haven't been to Bar Marmont in a while so I can't comment on that but as far as the restaurant goes, well, go elsewhere.

Nice place for a wonderful experience. Great cocktails, food and ambiance. Classic place that must be on the list within the Sunset Blvd area. Look forward to celebrities if your into that...

I absolutely love the atmosphere of the Chateau. I didn't stay here, but friends and I dined here and enjoyed it. The food was just decent, and it was unfortunate they don't really allow you to take photos inside. Although, it's a place I'd recommend still to others.

I really enjoyed this brunch spot, very sunset Blvd like but closed in to a tropical garden setting. Comfortable enough to stay shaded yet enjoy plenty of open air and breeze with sunshine. The brunch was great, tried the huevos rancheros (see picture) as recommended by the waiter and added Apple chicken sausage. A few mimosa later sealed the meet up with a few friends to catch up and celebrate a birthday. Also spotted a few celebrities dining here at the same time.

Bar Marmont is where you go when you want to pretend... just for a few hours... that you’re a little bit dangerous, a little bit famous, and a lot less responsible than you actually are. Justin and I slipped into the Chateau Marmont bar like characters in a noir film with a great soundtrack. We sat under taxidermy and velvet drapes, sipping cocktails that tasted like secrets. It’s moody, sultry, and weird in the best ways. A little haunted, maybe. But definitely by the right people. The Crowd: A mashup of producers, artists, and people pretending to be both. Everyone’s trying to be noticed while pretending not to notice anyone else. We saw at least two “that guy from that thing” actors and one woman dressed like a Studio 54 hallucination. Loved her. The Drinks: Not cheap. But worth it. My Negroni was balanced, bitter, and boss-level bold. Justin had something smoky with a sprig of thyme and a side of mystery. The bartender had that effortless, seen-it-all vibe that made ordering feel like confession. You don’t come here for the snacks. You come here to be seen, to see, and to write a little fiction about your own life for a night. It’s where the Workcation clock stops and the “who do I want to be tonight” version of you takes over. For the record, it's always Alex. Would I recommend? If you’re in L.A., and you’re not afraid of a little drama with your drink… yes. But go late. Wear something that tells a story. And bring someone who knows how to hold a great secret.

Quiet place for a business meeting or just to hang-out. Food is first-rate. Fine service. A gem of a place to meet.

Went here to have drinks with a friend who was staying there. Were greeted by a young lady with serious 'attitude' and managed to make us feel utterly unwelcome. Had one drink and decided to leave, the treatment/disdain directed to a paying guest let alone visiting customers was quite amazing. We just walked a little further down sunset strip and had a wonderful time. Pretty bloody shabby.

Set upon hill this establishment thinks a lot of itself. It has a history of accommodating Hollywood's elite and is not ashamed of it. An eclectic mixture of Cannes chic and granny's attic - it has a very European, old money feel to it. We were welcomed warmly for drinks on the terrace and enjoyed an hour or so of people watching in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. The food is not bad and the price is reasonable. Its a lovely, Grand Dame sort of affair but don't be intimidated - it's bark is worse than it's bite....

We went to Chateau Marmont for a Sunday Brunch, which was really tasty and priced reasonably given how popular the spot is. The outdoor seating area is pretty and cosy, the waiters were outgoing and respectful. Overall positive experience.

This is a great interesting place to go for food and drinks - I would definitely recommend it if you're visiting Los Angeles. The staff were all very nice and welcoming. Thumbs up.

Having been to several West Hollywood restaurants I was really looking forward to dining at Chateau Marmont. Sadly it was a very average experience at over inflated prices. The table set up was in the mode of Cafe Rouge (UK restaurant chain) or plastic wicker tables and chairs and set very close together so much so that I felt I knew the the couple sat next to us. I asked for a cocktail (Strawberry Daiquiri) that was not on the menu and was told they couldn't do it. The food was nice but very average. The staff were nice if a little too attentive, I hadn't even tasted both courses before I was asked how it was. I asked for strawberries for dessert which is just how I got them, not stalked or cored and with only a fork to de stalk them 🤔. Now that I have been I won't be back, it dines out on its name and lacks substance that many other places can offer.

Although it is pretty sitting outside, both the food and service were average. An 18$ mimosa ? Really ? Bring your $$$$. Another thing, people had dogs (who were fighting), someone had their cat, there was a screaming kid, not really what I expected from a place with this reputation. An odd mix indeed.

What an amazing property. We had cocktails at the bar, and lunch in the courtyard. This property with its period correct interior is stunning. The Lunch was amazing. Valet can be a bit challenging if you are in a hurry.

Came here for breakfast. Nice selection of breakfast foods. We walked here and it was a little confusing as to where to enter. Turns out you need to enter right where the underground driveway starts as there is no regular entrance like every other place on the planet has. Once inside you'll be transported to a small European destination. Fascinating.

I stayed at Chateau Marmont for business in April 17. Whilst the general hotel experience was great, I was very disappointed with the outdoor restaurant. My food arrived cold, as I complained to the manager Lee he was very rude and dismissive. I rarely post Tripadvisor reviews (especially as this was a business trip) but in this occasion I thought his attitude was unacceptable.

I didn't stay here, but did go for breakfast and it was amazing. Such a gorgeous old Hollywood icon. The food is expensive, but you're really paying just to be at the most famous hotel in hollywood. Would definitely recommend checking it out!

we had lunch here as we were staying in the hotel......nice setting but very average food..average service with hostesses dressed in casual street clothes....service was poor..had to pour my own wine, wine which cost $120 dollars mind you...maybe people come here for what was hollywood but thats all gone...and to top things off the bus boys carried the rubbish through the restaurant to dispose of it..very classy....much better value and service in some of the Beverly Hills restaurants if you want to see some glamour......

Chateau Marmont is full of history and remains one of the *the* places to consider eating. The strictly enforced rule of no cameras offers the hint that this could be a place to mingle with the stars. Dinner is set outside in the courtyard with large umbrellas to keep out the sun and heat lamps in the evening. It is a pretty place to sit and enjoy a dinner. The menu was quite simplistic - burgers, pasta and the like. There were only two vegetarian options, of which one had sold out by 20:30 which was not great with two veggies in the family. Service was friendly and quick enough. Food was fine. It wasn't earth shatteringly amazing but it wasn't awful. I've had better meals for the price but if you want to experience Chateau Marmont glamour try a quick meal here.

Very classy with sightings of many stars. An elegance rarely found nowadays. Excellent food & superb drinks complement the décor. The crowd is upscale high end.

We enjoyed seeing the beautiful interior garden patio and the intimate bar, but if I could do this again, I would just have had an appetizer and a cocktail in the lobby or in the cozy, historic bar. The French fries are delicious - I love anything with truffle oil. Our waiter started off so nice and then quickly disappointed. The restaurant wasn't busy, but he couldn't seem to follow up with us for simple things like catsup and after a long discussion about the fries - he forgot them. I ordered a $30 glass of cab (yes, $30), and I was happy to pay for that as I didn't need a bottle and I love a good cab. It came in a regular white wine glass and when I balked at this the waiter had the gall to tell me it was indeed a red wine glass. I am from a wine producing area, and I do know the difference. Even if I didn't, he should never have corrected me in a restaurant of that caliber. He had to hunt down a cabernet glass which took a ridiculously long time and returned with it only to lecture me again. Tacky. The steak salad was very good but the presentation was as if a small child had their meat cut up by their mother. It was in odd cubes sprinkled all over. It was good not great. All that said, I would go back - just not for dinner. It is worth the trip...for the ambience, history and truffle parmesan fries.

I met an old friend at the Château for lunch and we had a delightful time catching up in the garden. I had the classic sole and my friend had a steak salad. Both were cooked perfectly. We then moved into the library for dessert. I had raspberries Pavlova and she had a lava cake. Wow. The ambience was a world apart from the busy Hollywood streets outside. It could easily have been the Hollywood of a bygone era.

We had a lovely, relaxing leisurely lunch in the garden terrace. It was wonderful. We did not experience the rude staff as mentioned in other reviews. The servers we encountered were perfectly professional and polite. The decor and surrounding area was lovely. Very relaxed. Celebrity spotting was exciting, but on the menu it asks that you refrain from taking photos. The food was delicious, big portions. It’s a bit pricey but worth it.

Great food, great service in that vintage though still hype atmosphere ! Cocktails are a treat, food is fantastic, the deco is amazing and you still feel at home !

Whilst in LA I Visited the famous Hollywood Chateau for Lunch with my Daughter Son in Law and young Grandson. The Restaurant is very relaxing and it was interesting to be sitting amongst People we recognised. Celebrities are safe from photographers here. The food was very good and not overly priced. Our waiter was very attentive and offered alternatives to Menu for my Grandson which was much appreciated. The Hotel itself has an atmosphere of old Hollywood Charm that you can almost feel the presence of stars that have stayed there. Valet Car Parking is $6.00 When validated by Restaurant. Will definitely go back next time I'm in LA.

We stopped here for breakfast today the place was quite empty to be honest it was nothing to rave about just another experience and box ticked . The waitress was great the rest of the staff were a bit up themselves so wouldn’t say they made an effort considering we used all the other famous establishments in the area I would say this one was the least customer friendly . Average place

This is the second time we have been there and we had a great time. the setting is great, the staff helpful and discreet. we have however regretted the dress of some, shorts, flip flops, ...... it is a pity that some people have no respect for this place. what is even more damaging is that the staff let anyone in.

Great hotel and great restaurant If you want to enjoy an experience that will take you out of the normal LA/Hollywood you should try this, if you can get in. The service is of high quality but never goes above the line.

Chateau Marmont, with its rumored history as the hideaway of movie stars, provides a cozy backdrop for a drink at the five stool bar or at a table in the parlor. But you will pay a hefty price for the atmosphere. Two cocktails and a small bowl of nuts will run $60 including tip. Call ahead. Reservations are required at the restaurant and at the bar.

I love this hotel it is so chic and full of history from inside out, the ourdoor bar area is a must visit.. highly recommend :)

We visited here during our trip to LA and enjoyed a lovely brunch. It’s a lovely setting part of a historic hotel. Slightly pricey for brunch but very tasty

We stayed in this hotel during a vacation in US. This is luxury, but on another scale. The room looked old, and there are scratches, but it's warming with a feeling of visiting friends. The service is top class, and the atmosphere is unique. We'll be back :-)

Dinner with my family early evening in the garden. This place stands apart from all other places we have dined. The ambience, the lush garden, the waiters, the food. It was all special and memorable. Drinks in the bar afterwards was equally amazing. The atmosphere is really something special to be experienced and enjoyed. If you are a male you will be amazed by the look and features of the male restroom. Fantastic, and I have never seen anything like that elsewhere in the World: urinals with ice cubes. To sum it all up: we loved it and will return upon first opportunity, at which time we will certainly also book a room at this hotel.

I've given it average as, went just for drinks after a meal at Spago.- (which was wonderful with great staff). Chateau Marmont is a beautiful place, but I must say the staff were a bit snooty. It was obvious they were saving the best seats for more important people....! We insisted we weren't going to be there for long, then they gave us a better seat, but I won't stay anywhere where they make me feel uncomfortable. I would not go there again. There are other places in LA where you are more welcomed even though they are high end.

What a beautifully romantic setting for dinner. A twinkling garden courtyard draped with white linens and candles. I loved it the second I stepped in. Unfortunately we were sort of shoved into a corner table that seems be be on the outside of the courtyard. Although we had booked the table weeks in advance, nobody was able to give us a better table when we asked. Nevertheless, romance was in the air and we settled back to enjoy the atmosphere. The menu was not large, nor pretentious. I had the spaghetti bolognese which was fantastic. I didn't leave a strand of pasta on my dish. My partner had the salmon which was very enjoyable. The service was pretty good, the food came quick, and the server was attentive. I can't wait to go back on my next visit to LA. I only hope that his time, I am given a table on the inside.

I love this buildings history and the buzz that goes with it. The food is good, of course very overpriced. However if you can see past all the hype and snooty vibe of "you can't sit with us" then it is worth a go.

Food was delicious but you can't put a price on the ambience of this building. Make sure to make a reservation or you will not be able to dine. Very, very busy place!

My boyfriend and I heard that the Chateau Marmont was worth visiting for a meal so we decided to give this place a try. It was our worst experience dining out in recent memory. It started with the Valet guy who upon pulling up asked us if we were staying at the hotel and when we said we were there for lunch, he said the restaurant was closed. We knew this not to be the case so we said otherwise and he tried to make a slick excuse about a private party. He definitely gave the impression that he thought he should be in a movie rather than parking cars. We make our way to the restaurant host and after telling us we can have our table for only an hour, seats us in the mostly empty courtyard. Service was okay, although it took a long time to get menus. The food was a let down, our caesar salad came out soggy so we sent it back, it came back marginally better but still not what I'd expect from better dining. The sandwich we ordered was decent, the best thing we ate there were the fries but good fries can be had many a place. Overall vibe was just not very welcoming, as if they were begrudging that they had to be open to the public. Maybe we'd had better luck if we were "in the industry". I suggest this place be a private members only place or drop the attitude. Two young ladies next to us got up and left the place as they had been seated for 20 minutes with no acknowledgment from staff. Too bad as we thought the patio setting itself was nice but this is on our never again list.

I've been here several times and the atmosphere is lovely. The property is so quaint and the courtyard is so lovely. I have always had excellent, attentive service here. I have had some wine and appetizers for lunch. The food is always delicious. Last night I had three cheeses, calamari and hummus. It's fun to take out of town guests here for some old Hollywood vibes.

It was my third Time here and I am Very disappointed.. ordered a café latte, tasted very bad.. I asked for an other one. The waitress told me the milk was nos good anymore. Ok, fine. The second was better. But what a surprise to see it costs 12 dollars !!!! I asked for the menu to see if latte were that Price and she told me they don’t have a menu for hot drinks ?? (Wtf ? Clients should be able to Check the Price of everything they order) so I checked on Google and I found a menu with a 6 dollars café latte.. Maybe you changed your prices I don’t know but you have to show a proof a Price of the order of the client ask for it.

The valet was nice, but there was an extremely rude girl acting as the doorman. She looked sloppy from head to toe but acted as if she was better than the patrons going in. We were dropped off in a limo and she chased us down ( much like a few other reviewers described) like we were homeles trying to use their facilities. Was in the area celebrating and wanted to stop in for a drink... I was told I wasn't allowed because I didn't have reservations ( for the bar) I've stayed here, dined here, and will never entertain another friend, family or client here ever again.

Old school contemporary twist. Loved it as it doesn't change. Good reliable fresh nice service. Always a good option for lunch and great location. Difficult to be disappointed.

Had the most relaxing lunch in the outdoor gardens of the restaurant. The scenery was beautiful and the food very good (pricey but would do it again in a heartbeat). Surrounded by lots of beautiful people and lots of energy (even got to see two A-listers). It was very busy but never felt rushed. Great experience.

Had cocktails in the piano lounge. Loved the old school dark interior with comfortable leather couches. The server was very dramatic and made it a fun experience, and the cocktails were excellent.

Always top of my list when I visit LA. It is magical. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but worth it, I think. The atmosphere is beautifully romantic , the service top-notch, and the food delicious. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

Considering the price and the reputation, I was surprised to find this hotel so bouji. It's clearly the place to see and be seen and there's Hollywood A listers all around you. The garden is beautifully presented and the waiting staff very attentive. I clearly hadn't done my revision because the room was a surprise, but a nice one. I stayed in a suite and it was beautifully presented with a French cottage feel. Dated furniture, kitchen and bathroom but charming and everything worked! If visiting LA it's a must see and a must stay, but perhaps not for more than a couple of days. The local clientele clearly use this for their parties due to its non-judgmental approach and absolute discretion.

I go here every year for lunch and sometimes brunch when in town for business. I recommend that you go at noonish and be sure to check out the great wine list. If here for brunch, you must get the avocado bowl.

Nearly all the tourists visit LA always ask the same question- where should I go to see celebrities?... honestly, everywhere! They could be in the hole in the wall bar for a bear, or a chic restaurant for a romantic dinner.. BUT, if you really determined to enjoy brunch or dinner and see an A-lister actor you are in luck, make a reservation for Chateau Marmont Restaurant, you have high chance of run into one, two of many of them on a good night (later is better, both for brunch or dinner) The restaurant is like an oasis in the center of the busy Sunset Blvd., the outdoor area is the place to be, it is a castle garden, surrounded by the trees, drapes, and the view of the beautiful castle wall, you will feel like you are travel back in time to Europe in the 1800's, minus the hollywood pretty people. Food is ok, service is so so, then again, you are not there specifically for food right? You are there to experience the old Hollywood, the amazing ambiance, the possibility to rub shoulders with celebrities. A great place for romantic dinners for the couples, also excellent place for friends get together to celebrate and have fun! Remember three things: - Reservation is a must - No photos are allowed - Valet is recommended (get validated for reduced fee), you may just be chatting with Elton John, and get your parking paid by Sacha Baron Cohen, celebrities are just like us ;)

Yes you may feel you have stumbled into some time warp movie set. Looks Art Deco to me but it's also got medieval tones. The garden terrace was undergoing replanting when we visited. This is more like a cloistered. Definitely would be my home from home in LA. The burger I ordered was very good. They did a reasonable Aperol Spritz. So not all Peter Cushing here.

So glad I did not book this hotel to stay in. Originally was going to for the history and other reviews of the place but made a different decision at the last minute. I still wanted to at least have dinner at this icon. If the dinner was any indication of what the hotel stay would have been like I know I made the right choice! From the fake accents to the horrid pantsuits they wear it was a downhill experience from the moment we got there. No umbrellas offered in a pouring rainstorm while we waited so they could make sure we had a reservation. Also the most over priced meal we had on vacation. I do not mind paying if it is worth it, this most definitely is not. The Chateau M needs a restaurant overhaul. #1 on your list. Customer Service.

We stopped by to have breakfast and see the famous Chateau. Very fun, however, dont show up early! This is a place where everyone has been up late and therefore will be having brunch haha!

When you walk into a restaurant the first thing you don't want to hear is that you better be out in 2 hours! The snobbish hostess said that to us. Seriously? The courtyard is nice but nothing to write home about. You're crammed in like sardines. The only reason people are there (I had a business dinner) is to be seen. Seriously? The food? The little cheese breads (or whatever) were tasty and the gelato was worth the calories. That's it. Don't even bother with what comes in the middle. Don't bother even going. There are hundreds of fabulous places to dine in LA.

Great character, excellent food, fabulous atmosphere! A must when in LA. The history of this place and the unique atmosphere is a wonderful spot to grab a late dinner.

Did not stay at the hotel, but went to Chateau Marmont for a business dinner, we had a somewhat fixed menu: delicious squash ravioli, Salmon with vegetables and fries - my very favorite. Overall a very pleasant experience. On the down side, the restaurant was very dark.

We come here for events or for brunch once or twice a year. Each time, I'm torn between loving the old Hollywood charm, and thinking it needs a major facelift. For now, the charm wins the debate. Minor item: waiters need lessons on opening old wines. I ordered an older Bordeaux, and the waiter muscularly snapped the cork. Before I could stop him, he dashed off to get another bottle, apologizing for the "bad bottle." Then he did it again. This time I stopped him before he could take it away, and got the cork out fine myself. I hope he enjoyed the $500 "bad bottle" of wine that he'd whisked away, rather than just tossing the lovely wine in the trash. Anyway, a lesson in old corks would improve the profit margins. :-)

The breakfast was superb. Probably the best I ever had which is notable as it is LA, not France. A basket full of freshly prepared french pastries which was plenty to satisfy. The waitress even offered me to take the remaining coffee from the cafetière which I happily accepted as I did a flash visit to the city of lost angels (even though I was already jittery from consuming nearly all of it.) So this was the good stuff. Now the less than good stuff. On another occasion I ordered a dozen of oysters as well as calamari. The oysters were very small, like mussels. The waiter explained that they are Californian oysters hence the size. I'm used to oysters from Europe which I much rather prefer. The Calamari was very disappointing, not crunchy but soggy. Would undoubtedly visit again as I love the place anyway. Service is superb. An oasis of calm in LA. If you want to be amongst a-list celebrities this is the place to be if that's what you're coming for. So a bit of a mixed bag really. The prices reflect its heritage so be prepared to cash out. I also purchased the book and candle ( which smells divine) about Chateau Marmont because it is and will be legendary. On my last day I downed a bottle of prosecco before my flight back to London and I was served by a young lady whom was very charming. Quality service leaves memorable experiences so for this reason it is one of my favourites.

We are in LA frequently and decided to finally go here for a quick drink just to see what the fuss was about. Walked in and asked for a table for 3, we were only having a drink and leaving. We were sat inside. As it was a beautiful evening we politely asked to sit outside, my friend advised the maître d that we would not be staying long so they would have their table back quickly; I then proceeded to say that we would only be about 50 minutes, when I kid you not, this woman shoosh’d me as though I was either a child or perhaps a dog, I was literally speechless, there was no sign that we were not to speak inside and even if there was, there is a friendly approach to asking someone to keep their voice down rather than saying ‘shhhhhh’ 2-3 times, disgusting. I will be writing a proper complaint, you cannot have someone like that working in customer service. Disgusting. The waitstaff outside, however, were nice, we ordered a couple of drinks and desert (salted caramel brownie is delicious) Had to ask for the bill 3 times, understandable at times, however, they had about 20 waitstaff, so not exactly acceptable, but it’s not an issue. Experience was ruined by the horrible maître d, give the job to someone who understands customer service and knows how to speak to people.

The food and service here are excellent; the atmosphere and ambience a plus. I loved this place, good for a date, birthday or friends reunion

Apparently it is stillnpossibke to get a table at arestaurant that is "completely committed " on a given evening. I was very surprised to see so many empty tables in a restaurant that was supposed to be full all night. With this in mind i was surprised that my guest who booked the table through the general managers facebook messenger system was treated with vague indifference and we were shown to a table right by the door on a corner. I mention this because there were plenty of tables in better positions which remained empty throughout our stay. We were presented with two complimentary glasses of champagne from the manager but i would say this was the highlight of the service effort that evening. The menu is a bit all over the place in style of cuisine trying to be in tune with current middle eastern and Asian trends but also with standards like steak and burgers. I decided to have the steak which was the most expensive thing on the menu. The meat was pappy , patentently corn fed , so lacking in texture and flavour it was a total disappointment. We both wanted to drink red wine and the selection by the glass of which we tried four before settling on the Chateauneuf du Pape were not quaffable and certainly not up to the standard i would have expected. They were also very poor value . I kmow this restaurant is supposedly a hotspot for the cool but this was certainly not evident on the night of my visit. Even less cool was the service which had virtually evaporated by the time we ordered coffee at around 10pm. I had to ask for the coffee three times and beg for the bill. I would politely suggest that the place would be more fun if it was full and buzzing so denying people tables on false pretences is counterproductive

I hadn't heard of this place before arriving in LA. We stayed at Sunset Tower and mentioned we would like to explore somewhere lovely for an early dinner and they suggested Chateau Marmont. Lovely location and setting; we were greeted warmly and sat outside, the sun was still out and as this had been and incredibly hot day we were pleased to see it slowly disappearing. Some people might think it's expensive but believe me unless you have been to the State Bar in Bangkok and experienced Champagne at $100 a glass you haven't experienced being taken for a ride! I thought for the place and ambience the prices were okay. So all in all great service, good food and a lovely experience.

Fine stripped bass and scallops paired with so-so truffle fries and Scarpetta from Friuli. The Chocolate Mousse was a just finish.

Being in LA will never be complete without experiencing Hollywood's reality. Chateau Marmont has been a direct part of Hollywood's, mostly infamous, history, but that is just what we wanted to feel. How was the life of those who had enjoyed (or struggled) in the location, including the meal. The Chateau has a beautiful garden to have a nice brunch with very nice meals. Enjoyable marinated olives, bacon wrapped dates and lamb meatballs are perfect companions for a hours long chit-chatting occasion. I guess tea time would also have perfect atmosphere in the Chateau. For a more filling dishes, they offer familiar dishes like Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Pastas, and Shaksouka.

I didn't end up dining at this place due to the poor customer service via the numerous phone calls I made. I rang to make a booking and left my name and number. Having heard nothing, I then called a couple of hours later and no one picked up. So I called the main phone and I was transferred several times to and from the restaurant and the main hotel line and spoke to three people. I left my details again and was promised a call back, however no one got back to me to confirm the reservation. Very disappointed, maybe if I was an A-list celebrity I wouldn't have been treated so appallingly.

We had a lazy breakfast on the Patio, not cheap but worth it for the laid back atmosphere in this LA institution

Wouldn't want to stay here- too old for my style, but the vibe here is exceptionally cool and worth having a lunch or a drink

I adore this place, such a gorgeous, peaceful setting in addition to being a historic location. Recently had meal here and loved the meatball appetizer as a main dish when not super hungry. Lovely rose wine on hand, will always return here when in Hollywood.

Amanzing restaurant We been here while our stay in LA and it was beautiful. Service is great, we understand that as soon as we arrived at the door. Nice curly girl bring us to the table and a nice Waiter took our order. Food was just right. Chilling Atmosphere. The place looks brilliant, you know that you are in Hollywood as soon you walk in. And also this is the place where all the celebrities go. :)

This bar was small and very personable. Great bartenders mixing some intricate drinks. You might even see a movie start or two

each year we visit LA this is always top of our must go places to visit. the food, the outdoor dining area, or just for a few drinks at the bar, this is an absolute must visit place in WEHO. The character and charm of this property is in abundance. This is always an absolute favourite place to visit or stay.

We ate here this afternoon in the garden for lunch (both breakfast and lunch options). I was disappointed with both our server and the food. First, the server: he was pleasant but not very good (forgot a coffee we ordered, asked twice what one of us ordered, stood over our table after we requested "two more minutes please" to look over the menu, had another server take over while he went to lunch and we never saw the second server, among other things). It was kind of strange actually. I cant remember the last time I had such poor service. Maybe he was new??? Secondly, I thought the food was only so-so. The arancini balls were delicious, but the calamari didnt have much flavor and and flat bread was greasy. Overall, menu seemed generally over priced. The garden is awesome: very cozy with lots of plants/trees and sun shining through and comfortable chairs. AND, they only charge $6 for valet if you are there for 3 hours or less for lunch! The building is very nice to look at. I can't say Id rush to return.

I have visited this hotel for years and it NEVER disappoints. The rooms are perfection and make me feel like I've been transported back in time. I feel like a real movie star swimming in the pool surrounded by bungalows. The dining experience is exquisite. I will love this hotel until the end of time. Have a drink in the lobby bar and listen to the piano surround by Hollywood's best.

We were staying at the hotel on our trip so of course we used the restaurant. There arent too many seats inside that you can have a proper meal at so we sat outside. We were slightly squashed in and very close to the next diners but never mind we thought. It was slightly chilly so I asked if they would put the heater on which they did. I had prawn cocktail for starter which was nothing at all special, just prawns round a dish of spicy tomato sauce (america doesnt have the same kind of prawn cocktail as the UK, its more tomatoey and spicey). I had the spag bol for main which was ok and filling, We did have to ask for bread as everyone else got it as soon as they sat down but we didnt, A few times we had to pour our own wine which was in a bucket right at the back of my chair so i had to keep remembering not to push my chair back. We were asked if we wanted dessert we said we wanted to wait a while, 5 minutes later we got the bill!!!!! Most of the waiters do stand about by the back bar and they arent exactly run off there feet although I was asked if everything was ok before I had a mouthful!!!!! Prior to this we had a meal there before, we were in the same squashed table but this time i had the burger. I was asked how I wanted it cooking and I stated medium. It was quite pink inside but that is medium I suppose. You have to try the truffle fries as they are lovely but lots of restraunts seem to do them too. The white chocolate creme brule was fantastic and the nicest thing I ate at the restaurant. The food is slightly disappointing and nothing special and over priced for what it is. I think alot of people go just to get the experience of the place but there are lots more better places to eat in LA. Disappointing and I feel lets the hotel down slightly.

A great atmosphere to start with. You will be wowed by the reception, the experience, and the expectation. Reservation in advance is a must as it is almost impossible to take walk in. Value priced although not cheap. The food is amazing as they seem to have low variety however great food preparation. The only problem is the lack of training for their staff or their staff cannot handle pressure. You would expect to meet more pampering as well as more accommodating staff which wasn't the case during our visit. Other than that, a great place to try.

Delicious meal from start to finish. The setting is very chic, a bit of a medieval style. The steak was tender, a real treat.

Very private and guarded from paparazzi, enjoy oysters and a Bellini as you relax in this small but upscale restaurant. Special kudos for the truffle fries, a delight.

We enjoyed everything about our lunch experience at the Chateau Marmont. We arrived without a reservation mid afternoon. We greeted with warmth and friendliness. Service was great and the food superb. We sat in the garden and it was a beautiful setting. We look forward to returning.

Stopped by late in the afternoon for cocktails in bar, very cool place! No photos allowed as there were celebs and special people all around. Great cocktails, groovy pianist and super cool people watching. Definitely worth a visit. Check out the cars in garage as you go by, wow!

had a great time at this place. Good was great. People watching was great. And you can def. run into some celebs. here....we did

We came for dinner, got a table outside, a bottle of wine, a salmon, a Denver sole, and grilled octopus. Excellent food, nice combination of tastes, perfect size. The Tatin apple pie was not to be missed. We had to change table quickly because of a sparkle of rain and it was done quickly and smoothly. Let me give you a hint, at Chateau Marmont the star is you, no need to look around, just enjoy yourself.

We were assured by the waiter that our choice of the nightly special, fried chicken was a show-stopper. It came, we ate and it was nothing special. Good? Yes. Exceptional? No. Our starter of warm bread and sea salt came and the server tried to convince us that "No, it doesn't come with butter because it has enough in the recipe." Really? Then no bread basket came with our dinners (they came to the other tables immediately) so we requested in our to-go box. Clearly there is a pecking order here in who gets what kind of attention and service.

We visited the Chareau for breakfast which was served in the beautiful courtyard garden . The food and choice were good - however it is totally let down by the service . We had to ask to order after sitting at our table for ages and then had to remind them to bring forgotten drinks and side orders . Nice experience but not worth the effort until the service picks up .

Had lunch there during the week. Have read so much about the history there over the years. Beautiful experience and very discreet. The food was lovely and our waiter was extremely nice. Thank you.

I didn't quite know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! This a unique place. The restaurant/dining areas are both very casual with sofa's and tables but also less casual with regular dining room tables. I am sure that there are very fancy dining areas when needed! The atmosphere was California Cool and everyone was relaxing and having an enjoyable time. The hotel rooms are elegant with a historic charm. The employees were very pleasant and helpful!

We ate here on a Monday evening following a very long flight from the uk. We weren't too sure what to expect given the reviews and the celebrity hype, but we had a really lovely dinner. The staff couldn't have been more down to earth or friendly and the food was great, although the portions were enormous. I strongly recommend the calamari starter ( although it is way too big for one) and the parmasean truffle fries were to die for!!! I hadn't appreciate that you are sat outside in a patio area with quirky Formica furniture, so that made me smile too as it would be considered really naff at home. Also hadn't appreciated they let dogs in! It was expensive but the quality was worth it.

Visited the restaurant for breakfast. Place was completely empty at 10 am but then again just by the outside you know this is "live styles of the rich and famous" (which I am not). High-end cars in the valet, you really feel rich the minute you get out of your rental car! Hotel lobby is absolutely stunning. You get transported to an old fashioned, marilyn monroeish era. Jazz is playing from a record player none the less and yes, some of the records are scratched, but we got a kick out of that one. You can sit indoors where they have couches and coffee tables, rather uncomfortable to eat at or you can sit in their garden. We chose garden after sitting indoors for a little bit. The garden is beautiful, quite and relaxing. We were the only ones there, but it was fine for me. I ordered the yogurt and granola, my coworker the avocado tartine and the other coworker the eggs benedict. While the food was good it was really nothing to write home about. They no longer have the french toast on the menu which was a bummer, but I survived. Be ready to pay because it is expensive. Not sure if valet is validated while dining at the restaurant as I didn't pay for it but do check so you have no surprises. Worth visiting just to see the place. Heard many celebrities go there, if you're into that, then be on the look out.

I just dropped in for a drink or two at 11pm on a Friday night. The bar was full of wasted types, just as expected. It felt like stepping back in time to the excesses of the 70s. Two whisky sours later (at 20 dollars a piece) I left The Chateau a happy man,

Go here for drinks. the place is loaded with old Hollywood charm and character. It can be a little on the pricey side.

I booked this as a special meal to celebrate my husband's birthday. After dining at The Nice Guy a couple of nights before, where we received outstanding service, we had high expectations for The Chateau Marmont. Unfortunately it didn't even come close to the service we had received in other LA restaurants. We asked for a table inside the restaurant. We were escorted to a lounge area with arm chairs and lower level coffee tables, where we assumed we would have a drink then move to a dining table. It was never explained to us we would be eating our meal at such a low and inappropriate table and seating set up. We were never assigned a designated server, therefore trying to order food and drinks was a nightmare. At one point we ordered two drinks each as we were so sick of waiting. There was nothing wrong with the food, albeit, it was certainly nothing special! If anything the presentation could definitely be more refined. The meal certainly was not worth the high price tag, especially with such bad service. We definitely wouldn't return or recommend.

I've wanted to go to Chateau for a while so booked a table for dinner during a trip to LA. I was initially really impressed with the staff and quick service but then that went downhill quickly. We were unsure of what entrees we wanted so the waiter put in our starter order to prevent delay and advised he'd come back for the order...but he never did. Our starters were practically frisbee'd at the table by the miserable and rude waitress. My starter was disgusting, I ate 2 mouthfuls but couldn't get the attention of any staff members to point out my dissatisfaction, my partner also felt his starter was bland and not a thing like real hummus. I had a beet salad and in all honesty, I purchased a better salad from Vons for $4 today, their's tasted like it came from a bag. At this point we decided to leave. I will say that I hunted down the restaurant manager, explained I was unhappy and he took the food off the bill. He was keen to take my pointers to feed back to the kitchen. All in all this was a poor experience and I wouldn't go back. I'm glad I wasn't staying there.

The food was better than we expected and the setting has a lovely garden vibe. I don't think it can be faulted but it can be bettered. However definitely one to visit if you are interested in the substantial history of the place.

Starting with the cozy setting, in the patio of the hotel, continuing with the nice atmosphere and people and ending with the attentive service, it's definitely an all rounder. The breakfast food quality is really good, maybe because the menu is short 😊

We liked the patio and overall design, with touch of history. But the food is overpriced, and the quality for sure not reaching this level. Although if you wish to meet some celebs that's the right place.

I have been coming here for years, however the last few years less and less. I took my daughter and her friend for breakfast. The hostess seemed very rude and no pleasantry at all. I expect more from this hotel. We ordered coffee which was cold, weak and horrible. One of the orange juices we had to return as there was a bug floating in it! (How could they miss it?). The Granola was eh! The bread basket was good. $60 for all of above for one person, with that kind of service and greeting, I think not! I should have gone to Griddle Cafe round the corner! So stay away if you can

This was not my first visit and we knew we would enjoy sitting in the garden. The menu is good and predictably expensive. We had a reservation but were told we were limited to two hours at the table. Hat worked out well because after finally taking our dinner order and delivering meals our waiter forgot us. After another hour or so we asked for our check, having stayed about three hours. Nice evening, but we would have had more to drink and desserts if we had ever been asked.

International tourists and great celebs watching - expensive and great lunch. It is not a luxury hotel, but the charme wins your heart and wallet. If you can not get a room - book lunch weeks in advance

Quiet Padio perfect for business lunch. Food is very high quality and perfectly selected. Stuff is very discreet.

This review is for the bar and restaurant. Great swanky place to have dinner or evening cocktails. Definitely a great place to dress up and experience (a higher end) la nightlife.

Not a family restaurant in the traditional sense but I wanted to eat there so braved it with the children. The most lovely spot for a lunch under the umbrellas on a hot summer day. It’s not cheap but certainly not as crazy as some hotel restaurants, and frankly we thought it was worth it. Our waiter couldn’t have been more charming and the food was lovely. Coffee was best we’ve had so far in LA. Loved it all. Will be back next time we’re in LA on our own for dinner!

Very small size salad but the service in the restaurant is excellent. The interior is very ecclectic and the ambience casual

First off we did not stay here. We only had one cocktail. I am somewhat of a celebrity/Hollywood nerd. So while in Hollywood I told my husband I had to go here just to see the place. The hostess was sweet and we were seating quickly. The courtyard is beautiful and comfortable. The drinks are expensive, but we expected this. We took a look at the menu and laughed $20+ for a Caesar salad. That's funny. But we had a good time and I can cross it off my bucket list!

We had a wonderful lunch in the midst of an Oasis Garden. What an incredible atmosphere. The service was first class. The food was delicious. Good VIBES ✌

Superfancy and hyped place with mediocre service and average food. My friend had to ask for coca-cola 3 (!) times each 5 minutes before it was delivered. And so pretentious - Oh, god, you cant make pictures as there are so many celebs (none). Vanity fair.

Had brunch at their famed coffee shop. What a horrible experience. The staff was pretentious, the waiters forgot half my order and the bread basket was wrapped in a napkin that had lipstick on it - when we told the waiters hey comped the toast - they didn't even apologize. I just think they are 'over it' in terms of service - truly not a place to go when in Los Angeles. Don't go.

This place has character from walking into the hotel through the lounge and into the courtyard where the restaurant is. The vibe is great and I went there a few times and always similar experience. Food is not bad. Definitely worth the effort to get a booking

Given this establishment’s reputation, I absolutely had to come here for lunch. Which seemed to be a justified reputation because, as we walked in, one could feel the collective disappointment after the diners turned back to their chopped salads after realising that we weren’t George Clooney (my companion) or Mr Bean (me). We had a light brunch/lunch of the oysters and a well-executed lobster salad washed down with a very reasonably priced - contextually, at least - bottle of French rose. In spite of expectations, the atmosphere was very relaxed and the service very affable. And, regrettably (thankfully?), no celebrities, just rubberneckers.

I was leery about going because I had read some unflattering reviews on here. I don't know how those people had such a bad time. I had always wanted to go because of the history of this place ie John Belushi, The Doors, etc. We were welcomed by a lovely hostess and our server was Jose. Attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Ate a pricey but yummy brunch and took a quick tour around. No photos allowed due to the clientele that frequents the hotel and restaurant. Would definitely go back!

I recently visited the place for drinks and dinner but was quite shocked as the Lauren at the entrance was quite rude and arrogant. She said there is a private event going on and I can't enter without reservations. I said even if I want to go to the bar she said yes. So I walked out and called the hotel and made reservations through Laura in the restaurant. Laura even said that I am informing the front door so that you have no problems. So I walked back and told the guy at the front door about my reservations so he checked in the system and found my name but then the other guy who had seen me earlier said Lauren doesn't want him in. So this guy went to check with Lauren who came up to me and said you should have left the property and shouldn't be here. She then called Christian, designated head of security, who again checked the system but asked me to leave. I had no interest left and decided to leave but it was very strange and rude since I did not even know the reason? All the staff at the front door were so rude and impolite.I have never seen this kind of arrogance in my last nearly 30 years of travel and will advice travellers to go there at their own risk of self respect.

Still the classiest place in Hollywood for brunch, in the semi-open courtyard garden. Food outstanding, and with prices to match, but who cares when you're in a place like this. Service, on the day I went, was a little slow, but it's all forgivable, given the circs. No visit to Los Angeles is complete without dropping in on this place.

Loved the setting & ambience of this place which is truely memorable. There was a group of 5 of us and we shared meals which was a great way to sample dishes. My favourite was the pasta with giant shrimp...cooked to perfection ! Service was attentive and not too quick and no complaints from our group as we could enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Will def.be back

Famous place with lots of people there dripping with self-importance and wealth but otherwise not intimidating! Food is ....meh at these prices . Just go so you can maybe visit the ghost of Belushi and tell your friends you were there
Agh the serenity
Decided to give this famous establishment a try, and wasn’t disappointed. The outside area is very peaceful and well appointed, ideal for a casual lunch. The calamari starter was perfectly cooked, and tasted great. The steak frites, was pretty good, just a wee bit more seasoning would of been great. The fries on the side were superb, a slight hint of truffle I believe.
