Curiosity finally won. After passing Cheddars on numerous occasions and seeing the parking lot always full, we decided to give this restaurant a try on a Tuesday evening, knowing that Tuesdays is a light night for restaurants. Wrong! We waited 45 minutes for a table, but OH, the wait was well worth it. Ordered Onion Rings to get started. Wow, order was enough for four and their were only two of us, and they were delicious. Entrees were equally generous in portion size and prepared perfectly. Now we know why the parking lot is always full! This is a family restaurant and therefore the place is filled with young children and so very noisy. If noise and laughter takes away from your dining experience, you may want to skip this establishment. It is not a place for a quite, romantic dinner. We will return, in spite of the wait and noise.

1st time visitor to "Cheddars". Went to the one just outside of "The Rim" area, next to the about-to-be-opened "Chuy's". Did not expect the inside to be as nice as it was. At 11:45 on a Sunday morning, it was slow, but, the church crowd started to gather slowly. Service was friendly and attentive. Manager visited. Hostess was pleasant. Ordered ribs (not dry, average), chicken tenders (fresh and so good), baked potato (dry), french fries (basic), broccoli/cheese casserole (cheesy & savory), and a monte cristo (sweet and tasty). Prices are more than reasonable! Will return!

Our friends in San Antonio chose this place is it is one of their favorites. The value is fantastic. They give you LOTS of food. It did not taste as artificial as some other sit-down-but-serves-food-fast-places (e.g., Denny's, Applebees, etc.) I had the ribs - were ok (sauce was unnecessary). Pot pie looked very good.Fried chicken was plentiful and looked good (with mashed potatoes too!).The Monte Cristo was ... different, but our friend really enjoyed it. Something to try next time! Desserts were OK, and again, plentiful and a good value. The service was really nice and kept refilling our drinks. We went in the middle of the week on a rainy night - parking was not a problem, and there was no wait.

We ate a lot and have different plates and desserts. All were tasty and good. The price is excellent for all the plates. If you go with a big familiy it is worthy.

Best food I've tasted in a while!! Definitely taking my friends there for a girls night out dinner!!

Since Cheddars is always busy and always a crowd waiting outside my husband and I thought we must try this place. Well if you like waiting 40 mins to an hour and your not too hungry then it's no big deal but we were starving! Service was so so we had to ask the waiter a couple of time to get refills on our drinks. My husband ordered the Monte Crisco sandwich he was excited because this was one of his favorite sandwiches. He was very disappointed and he said it didn't taste anything like the one he loved. He stated it had a blah flavor and needed something else. It was not worth the wait to ever come back again.

I know that Cheddars is usually busy on Friday night but the service was bad. It took us 30 min to get our appetizer and then 2 minutes later our food comes out. My husband ordered a medium steak and the steak was well done .Although they made my husband another steak I was almost done eating my food by the time the right steak came out .We also ordered Croissants and they never made it to our table .Our waiter never checked on our table since he was to busy focused on a table next to us. I use to enjoy Cheddars but after tonight I may have to find other options.

Nice place, nice service, but so dirty… the rest rooms… so bad.. and the floor to . Have a grate service, so quickly but they need clean the place

Took my adult kids here for lunch last week. 6 adults and none of us could finish the meal served to us. 3 of us had chicken fried steak...terrible...mostly breading and tough meat. Mine did not even get served with the mashed potatoes and green beans as advertised in the menu.

Cheddar's is by far my favorite restaurant to go to! I order the Cajun Chicken Pasta every time and it is beyond amazing. I have had friends tell me about other foods there that are amazing as well, I just haven't been able to venture away from the pasta...yet! If you get the chance, go here!!!

Today My wife and I decided to eat here on our way home, and we were very disappointed in the food quality. First my wife ordered the blackened salmon and when it came out, it was barely blacked. After the salmon was remade it was blacked a little more but seemed rushed and looked under cooked. I ordered the tenders & shrimp and the way the tenders tasted seemed odd. I would recommend you choose a different item on the menu if you plan to go.

Went with some friends for happy hour - Hade the Loaded beef nachos they were good - but the Texas Tea cocktails were the best! We loved them - they were a very good value - had a great time and will go back to try more of the food!

This was a first time visit. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the price! I had the salad to start, it was very good. Had a side of red beans and rice, again very good. The main dish was a steak, Wow! It was cooked as ordered and was spiced very well. It definitely was worth twice the price. And I can't say enough about the croissants, they were fantastic! Service was also very good. I also have to mention the bar. Even though I did not order a drink, those coming out looked awesome. This is definitely a must do, and I will return.

I have been to this restaurant in 2 different locations in Texas. The meals and service were top notch in both. I loved the sweet hot rolls/croissants. The tortilla chips and queso was yummy. The homestyle chicken pot pie and fried chicken salad was great and a huge portion! The never ending refills of drinks was soo great. Don't see much of that in NYC restaurants. I wish cheddars was in NYC or Long Island NY!

Food was good as usual and cheap for what you get, however, the service was very poor. Drinks were late, food was hot and good but late, asked for a takeout box and it took a long time, and the final straw was that he said my credit card bad, so I gave him another. I quickly called my bank, they looked up the transaction and the waiter had put in the wrong numbers, twice. I was happy that my credit card was still good, but it was icing on the cake for this waiter. Nice guy, but inept as a waiter. Again great, reliable food, but service was poor.

New restaurant on IH 10 near The Rim shopping area. Very reasonably priced items (most $7-$9). The most expensive item on the menu is $13.99 for steak. Portions are generous. Nice clean restaurant with good atmosphere. We went back within the same week.

Look at the mixed reviews. Clearly there is not a consensus on this restaurant. We were disappointed. My favorite item on the menu (catfish) has been discontinued. Bummer. My wife and I were seated in the noisy bar while there were seats in the restaurant section. We are in our 70s. We noticed several other older couples were also seated in the bar. Segregation? Anyway, the food was OK, the service was passable, but without the catfish, we aren’t likely to return.

new orleans pasta was a lot to eat but quite good, the tilapia was great and the Pina Coladas were outstanding

Do not know what the crowds are about at IH 10 spot. Food is barely fair, service poor. Do not plan On ever going back.

We welcomed seeing a Cheddars in the San Antonio area while on our vacation. Always good food at a reasonable price. I got lemon pepper chicken, rice, baby carrots, & iced tea. My wife got a grilled chicken salad & water. Our bill was under $25. Service was just as good as the food. Love Cheddars 👍👍

Waited for 9 minutes before another server realized we were just sitting and waiting after being seated. She then told our server who strolled over a couple minutes later. It was slow and agonizing the whole time. I just happened to look at the clock getting out of the truck saying 438 and didn’t walk out of there until 603. That’s with out a wait time. The rest of the table (3 others not a big top) was like the food was ok and it wasn’t bad by any means. I just think that they were tired of of waiting for everything. Refills, apps, salad which we got half way through entrees. Walking out our server was on the cell phone I told him thank you and nothing from him. I paid over 120 bucks for me to say thanks and no acknowledgement from him.

Had lunch at Cheddar's this past Sunday. Always a line, but seated fast and served very fast. Food is hot and tasty. Staff always friendly and keeps the tea glasses full. Restaurant is very clean. A good variety of items to choose from. It would be great if they served Hot Tea.

$5.00 for the biggest mound of onion rings ever. The food was superb and very reasonably priced. My family and I were very impressed with surroundings, drinks and value of this restaurant. We will definitely come again, again.

What can I say? Cheddar's is always great. The service is a little slow, but when you are feeding over a hundred people you expect that. Yes there is usually a short wait (not more than 15 - 30 minutes) but it is worth it. The shrimp I had were some of the biggest and best I have ever had. My wife's chicken was tender and juicy. Parking can be a problem sometimes. There prices are great...two people...$20.00... can't beat that. One of my favorite places to go.

First time at Cheddar and we both thought it was great. I had ribs and shrimp, ribs fell off the bone and were delicious. Large house salads, baked potatoes and 6 large shrimp. Service staff very pleasant and gave us prompt and courteous service.

Very clean, prices and food are good. Great place to have a family gathering with a wide menu to choose from. Can get a little loud but that is just the atmosphere of people enjoying themselves. Kid friendly too.

We ate at Cheddar's for a birthday party with another couple. The food was really good (we all had something different). The atmosphere was conducive to conversation and service good, also. We decided we have found a great new place to eat!

We decided to give this location another try and I am glad we did. Everything we tried (salad, salmon, chicken fried steak and fried shrimp) was fairly good with the only complaint being too much breading on all the fried food. Service was very slow yesterday, as well, even though it was not crowded. We will definitely return because they offer a very wide selection to please everyone and the prices are good for the portion size.

We love Cheddars for the quality food and great prices. Every item on the menu seems to be a few dollars less than other similar restaurants but just as good, if not better. We love the fresh crossiants, Caesar salad served in chilled bowls, chicken pot pie and the list goes on. My favorite entree is the vegetable plate with four sides and a salad for just $6. This is a great value for families or anyone!

Four of us for lunch and the amount of food was massive- 1 meal is enough for 2 adults. Bread and butter- delicious! Place was clean, staff pleasant.

This was our first visit to Cheddar's - we were very pleased on all counts. They were very busy this Saturday afternoon but they were able to seat us immediately. Our server secured our drink order within two minutes of being seated and took our meal order within five minutes. We had the onion rings as an appetizer - they were superb - fresh not frozen, crisp, crunchy and delicious - I especially liked the dipping sauces. The meals were perfectly prepared and served hot. My burger was properly cooked, very juicy and delicious. My wife's salmon was also expertly prepared. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. He ensured everything was to our liking and we did not have to ask for drink refills - he took care of us extremely well. The dining area was very clean and spacious. Now the best part - Cheddar's menu is very value oriented. Appetizer and meal portions were very generous. Our entire bill for two including an appetizer, two entrées and beverages and a 20% tip was just $30.00. Outstanding - highly recommended especially for value - minded folks with a family. The place is always packed and now I know why. Try it - you won't be sorry.

The baby back ribs are always great here. We had a late lunch here our first day and the food was great.

The food was great and very fast. The service was very friendly and prompt.

Went to the newer Cheddar's near IH-10 & loop 1604. Very busy but got seated right away. Descent atmosphere but noisy. Then we realized that the food is cheap and the service was non-existent. The wait staff is not trained, or doesn't care; and the cooks must not taste anything they prepare. You had to stop someone to get anything yet there were many of the staff just walking around in groups of 2-3. Each time you did get something they would no clear anything from the table unless you asked. The focus was definitely on running people through and not a dining experience. Then you get to the food, which was sub par. The best thing was the desert which was just a big chocolate chip cookie with two scoops of ice cream on top.

Went out for dinner, and was glad when we were seated less than 10 minutes. However, upon trying to sit in booth, touching the table was discussting sticky/dirty! The booth was greasy. I told waiter who brought situation to Managers attn. He corrected it. Our ribeyes were perfect! Our experience went much better afterward.

We visited on at 8:30 on Friday night and had to wait half an hour for a table. We had potato soup and hamburgers and chicken tenders. Prices were good. Food was okay. Service was okay. But the dark interior and the over-crowdedness put me completely off. Just not a place for me.

We went to Cheddar's for lunch and arrived at 11:00. We placed our order at 11:15 and we got our food just before 12.00. This is much too long to wait during lunch hour. The chicken strips are one of their signature entrees and they were good. I have never been to a Cheddar's that wasn't run very efficiently...I can't say that about this one. The background music was overpowering and raucous . Perhaps with some training and some judicious use of the volume control this will be a good place to go. Until then, I don't want to go back!

We have been to a couple different Cheddars around San Antonio and found this one not as good as the others. We did get seated quickly and waiter was right there but it was dirtier then the others. We ordered, he has fried fish and I had Cajun pasta. His fish looked like it was fried when still frozen. My pasta was dry and not cream. We both had this meal before. I know different cooks but come on. Cream type sauce should be creamy. After we were finished I used the restroom. Wow, the door locks didn’t work and faucet was broke. We will not be going to that one again.

Just enjoyed some delicious Baked Potato Soup with a Caesar Salad. Both were tasty and exceptionally well prepared. The salad was extremely fresh. The service was equally superb.

My husband and i stopped there on a Saturday evening around 3pm. The waitress we had was very “absent” took over 10 minutes just to ask us what we wanted to drink. By the time she finally came back with our drinks we had our orders ready. We ordered our appetizer and meal at the same time. It was busy so we expected a wait for our meals to arrive. The food that we ordered was very good. Except that my husband ordered a medium steak and it was well done. We waited another 10-15 minutes for our waitress to come check on us and ask if we were ready for our check. Overall it was a good experience, we just had a slow waitress that day.

Nice place and friendly service. BUT - they advertise made from scratch and when we couldn't decide what to get, the server suggested we not get the chicken fried steak and french fries as they were frozen. We ended up with grilled fish and it was okay, but pricey for the portion.

If you're looking for a five star restaurant, this isn't it. If you want good "stick to your ribs" down home food, Cheddar's has it. The food is hot, well prepared and tasty. Their menu offers a wide range of choices and they all seem to be good.

The service is first rate and the interaction with all the wait staff is excellent. The food is prepared fresh and is moderately priced. The menu selections are extensive and varied. For good food ant a great price this is the place.

Lunch at Cheddars on Saturday is fairly busy. We were seated quickly, but it took awhile for our server to arrive. She was friendly and had a decent grasp of her job. We ordered the onion rings, they were top notch. I had the chicken fried steak. It tasted strange, the batter was fried golden brown, but the steak part had the texture of vulcanized rubber. The carrots were tasty, but the baked potato wasn't cooked enough. Rolls are not included, they are $2 more. This saves all those added calories. Overall, the prices were on the moderate side. My wife ordered the Tilapia with shrimp. It tasted bland to me. The coleslaw and beans were good. The service here is slow. It appears as if the kitchen is unable to keep up with the guests. Our onion rings come with a chipotle sauce. But, they were out of it and in the process of making more. Our server included some with the leftover bag. Slow service, below average food, and a very congested venue equals a forgettable experience.

I have always loved eating at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. The food is delicious hands down and the environment is amazing!

This place was a great find! They have everything from chicken pot pie to steak. Most under $10 a meal. Large portions. Everything we got was great. The servers were very helpful with suggestions.

We went to Cheddar's this past weekend and wondered why we don't go more often. The prices are unbelievably reasonable for the amount and quality you receive. The bar and dining atmosphere is welcoming, warm and modern.. can't wait to go back!

We have come to this location several times but during this last visit, we we're very impressed. The service by Jakob, our waiter, was outstanding. He was very friendly, immediately took our order and was attentive to our needs during our meal. He came by with refills to our drinks just before we needed them, also refilled our chips when needed. We didn't need to ask for much at all as he was already on top of it. The food is always pretty good at this location and with the service being extra good this time, the food was hot when served and made it that much better. Much credit goes to Jakob for the incredible service we received today.

The food quality at Cheddar's is always top notch. Their side salad is accompanied by a single hot and fresh croissant. The onion rings are terrific (I heard they are hand battered individually) and stacked so nicely. I always get the rib eye steak and whether it is in Little Rock or San Antonio, Cheddar's chefs always get it just right. And I challenge anyone to find another restaurant with a comparable atmosphere and decor that offers rib eye that costs $14. My wife got the salmon and it was juicy and moist. Kudos to the chefs.

After being up all night, then flying in to San Antonio, I was hungry as soon as I arrived. I was in the parking lot when they opened. While I have ate at Cheddar's before, the one in my town generally has not had the best of service. This location however was a true exception. The food came out quick and was hot. The waitress was very attentive and polite. This was just what I needed after a long night/morning with little sleep.

Great food but service was a bit slow for a busy Saturday night

Great selection of adult beverages, reg, beverages, and food. Entrees are priced nicely with large portions. Vegetables are fresh and croissants are delicious ! Desserts are awesome plus they offer "mini " selections for only ninety nine cents.

On family recommendation of family we joined in, ordered what they ordered (meat loaf), and were not disappointed. Real comfort food, at its best!

Wow, what a delight. The staff was friendly, waitress, attentive, drinks great and food delicious and good servings. The menu is varied and difficult to decide what great choice to pick. It was busy at 5 PM and busier at 6:15 when we left but the noise level was not bad. The pricing for drinks and food were a good value. We will definitely return!

Almost anything I order here is delicious. There is not a large variety of beer and some of the mixed drinks are not very good. Two people left full drinks on their table while we were there. Four pork ribs with shrimp will run you around $15, comes with two sides. A burger will run around $7 but does not come with fries. Service can be a bit slow at times, not sure what causes that. Nice relaxing atmosphere with tropical fans.

We have eaten here many times in all different locations. Service slow looked understaffed. I got pot pie! Tasted like $1.00 pot pie from 1980!!! Dad got steak and shrimp! Yuck! We will not be back.

Let's make this short and sweet: Food was ok. Not that great but certainly have had worse. Customer service: Mediocre at best. This could be because the night we went happened to be the one Wednesday night of the year when the world's population eats at this cheddars. Staff was stressed and slow and extremely inattentive. Facility: The way Cheddar's is set up there are only a handful of tables and they "according to the manager" do not take reservations for larger groups so we were stuck in two booths with two infants and no room to place car seat carriers at the tables. This led to an uncomfortable dinner with infants on laps with people packed tight into two booths. Overall: Poor quality experience and extremely poor example of what I know Cheddar's can be.

I agree with other reviewers on this site - the service at Cheddar's leaves much to be desired. I wonder if it's due to the fact that this restaurant has not been open very long. I hope that management will take care of this problem, because Cheddar's is otherwise a very nice place to eat. I'm not sure you could find another place that serves food this good, at such reasonable prices. Our family of four can all eat very well without breaking the bank. I love the variety of their menu. You can get steak, seafood, salads, sandwiches, soups...all very fresh and quite tasty. I especially love their tortilla chip appetizers, which come with both regular salsa and nacho cheese. Those chips are incredibly good. I also enjoy their croissants - flaky, buttery, wonderful. I haven't eaten anything at Cheddar's that didn't taste doggone good. Let's just hope the skills of the wait staff catch up to their great food choices.

We have eaten here several times and have never had a bad meal. One time it was so crowded we even ate in the bar area. It didn's seem to matter because our service was great.. They also have large portions for those who like to take their leftovers home for one more meal.

Everything from the time waiting to be sitted, to the food was great! Definitely try the Potato Soup. Only criticism would be the time for our appetizers came out a bit late. Besides that, great! Big recommendation!

Other reviewers have said that it's always crowded. That is my observation as well. I like the steak and potato meal (a real deal), the tortilla soup, most of their sandwiches. and their burgers. Overall, I would place it in the same general category as, say, Mama's, and Chile's, only a little better. We have had to wait for a table sometimes, but the service has always been very good. Overall, when my wife says our friends want us to meet them at Cheddar's, I generally have a slightly brighter outlook on the rest of the day. A good place, no, a very good place.

We visited here for lunch to use a coupon we had and although parking was crowded up front, once inside, we were seated promptly and waiter arrived timely. The place was crowded but still had tables/booths available. The menu is simple to read but had a variety of choices. We got the appetizer chicken tenders and the Baja Chicken for the entree and shared. It was plenty of food for two. The tenders were DELICIOUS. There were five in the order and they were cooked perfect with a tasty, crisp crust that was not at all greasy. The portion was a good size. The Baja Chicken was a nice presentation and loads of black beans with some rice on top and the grilled seasoned chicken sliced on top of that. It has a slight bite to it but very good. The waiter, Alex, was very attentive and got all our requests right! Mike (the manager we assumed) stopped by the table to check in and even sat a bit to chat when we asked him a question. The place is very clean and all the food coming out to the other tables looked delicious with ample servings. The only negative was a few flies that kept landing on our table and chairs and were persistent while we waited for our food. Not sure how that could be taken care of but surprised they were in the further part of the restaurant. This did not deter us from enjoying the food or thinking we would make a return visit again. It was mentioned to us that they are coming out with more new menu items as well. This place is located on the frontage road of IH10 on the inside of 1604. Loved the coupon and made the meal sooooo affordable~~Thanks Cheddars!

Had a lunch there Cheese steak sandwich with ice tea It was ok good service fits as an average place to have lunch

We ordered from Six Flags on the way to Embassy Landmark . It was very convenient and good options for all of us. We all enjoyed our meals.and didn’t feel like spending time in the restaurant.

We ate at the cheddar s located on IH10 near 1604 twice this week. I had the white fish and my granddaughter had the children's chicken. Both dishes were excellent and I was very surprised with the price as it is more than reasonable. The service was fast and attentive and the manager even made rounds to inquire about the food and service. We will for sure be back as it has a good and very reasonably priced menu.

My shrimp was awesome, like their lunch menu, nice portions for reasonable price and loved being given cookies for birthday treat...didn't want a dessert. Very nice and a coupon for a appetizer next visit.

So my wife and I went for the first time the other night. The place was packed and it was only wednesday evening. Due to it being very busy the service was not the best but was not horrible. The food, well lets just say you get what you pay for. I found something in the bottom of my drink and the waitress diddnt seem to care.

I've always been there for an official Christmas party. We went for lunch both times. The food was good and service was quick.

priced too high for what we got. Too salty to enjoy

Food is good and there is a large selection to choose from.the prices are low.the o ion rings are great. I had the talipia with mango salsa.my husband had a hamburger.the waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about menu.the service was fast.

My wife and I love to stop at Cheddar's when we are in town. This place is very consistent with great food and a very clean restaurant. I definitely recommend this place to all my friends. What I find most impressive of all is that it is a scratch kitchen!!

I have been to this particular restaurant a few times, my family and I really like it great food. Very affordable and great family environment

My wife and I ate here for lunch. I usually stay away from restaurants that have servers; only because it bothers me to tip when service has gotten so mediocre. Our server was really attentive to our needs. He was timely and professional. We sat in the bar area. The food here was consistent with other Cheddar's restaurants.

We went to the new location on I-10 near Loop 1604. We Arrived early in the evening, to try to avoid a long wait. Companions included my Daughter, and her 2 children. We were seated immediately, which is always a good thing with a 5yr old in tow. At first blush, the service seemed like it was going to be top notch, but sadly this didn’t hold true for the entire evening. As it wasn’t terribly busy when we first arrived, it took longer than expected for our appetizer to arrive. Then the adult meals arrived, but no burger for the Grandson. The server stated he’d be right back with it as he couldn’t carry all the entrées at once. 5 min later he was back with the burger. Only problem with that was it was supposed to be a childs cheeseburger, and was lacking cheese. Again was told he’d be right back with the cheese. And Again, 5 min later, he returned with a small bowl of grated cheese. The Burger was not warm enough at that point to melt the cheese, but my grand son was hungry, and made due. The portions are large, and the food was ok, and the cost was less than I expected. However, I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there again due to the lack-luster service.

Slow start - seated five tables with our waiter almost simultaneously - but once we got started things went pretty well. Very good comfort food from a broad enough menu. Portions large, seasoned right.

Cheddars tries hard to please and it shows. While few dishes are great, most are good. Onion rings, mango tilapia and salmon best do far. Drinks and deserts are reasonable. Service can be off and a bit hit or miss, but they try hard. Very popular, so be prepared to wait for a table 30-60 minutes during peak times.

AMAZING FOOD, ATMOSPHERE, SERVICE, AND BEST OF ALL THE PRICE IS GREAT! Only complaint is they REALLY need to open another location! It gets really crowded but so worth the wait!!

I had the chicken caesar salad and my husband ate the grilled cheese sandwich. The salad was ok. The dressing tasted store bought, so I was not impressed. My husband liked the grilled cheese. They have been opened for about 2 months now, but the waiters still kept getting confused about who ordered what. They kept going around tables going "did you order the...". The decor is very nice and appealing. It tends to get very crowded on the weekend, so be prepared to wait for a table if you REALLY want to eat there.

I have eaten at many Cheddar's locations over the years - this was the first time I have been to this location. My girlfriend and I had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated for dinner - but this is typical for any Cheddar's location at dinner time. The food was very good, and I was pleased with my experience. I would easily go there again for dinner or lunch....

Cheddar's is an average chair restaurant. Nothing special about the food or the atmosphere. The food was rather bland. The waitress was horrible though. I asked her a few questions about items on the menu and she had the nerve to tell me that she didn't know the answers. She didn't even say that she would try to find out. Also, it was soooooo freaking cold in the restaurant that people were in huge coats. We asked her to tell the manager about how uncomfortable it was and she said that the manager wouldn't do anything about it so we could maybe order coffee! Really?? I was not impressed with Cheddars. Also, it was my 8 year old nieces birthday. We asked if Cheddars did any type of birthday song/cake and the waitress said that they do not help celebrate birthdays. Really?? The only saving grace was that the prices were decent. I won't return though.

Had a lunch with two coworkers yesterday June 6th and was very disappointed in the food and service. First of all, it was 12:30 and they said they had no baked potatoes (when would they have them?). They subbed it with a sweet potato that was overcooked and about the size of a small plum. The meat was OK but cold. One coworker ordered a sandwich and got something completely different than what the menu showed but he did not want to cause a problem and ate it anyway. It looked like two small triangle shaped rolls about the size of a small half sandwich with some rather strange red sauce. Never got a refill on my drink and left wondering what happened to the old Cheddar's. I never have liked the fact that I have to buy my bread there as compared to Texas Roadhouse's delicious free rolls and cinnamon honey. Guess that will be my new place to go.

Friends asked us to meet them here for lunch. We were told our table was ready shortly after we arrived. There were nine of us, and we were led to a booth designed to seat six. There were no larger tables available, so we crammed in. None of us had much room on the table for our plates or much elbow room. I ended up with half of my posterior hanging off the seat throughout the meal. It wasn’t a comfortable seating arrangement for any of us. We started with chips and queso and an order of onion rings as appetizers. For the price, the serving of chips was pretty small. Since I can’t eat most cheeses, I can’t comment on the quality of the cheese sauce. The onion rings, however, were excellent. They had a light batter, so we were able to taste the onion more than the coating. Everyone liked them. Even though there was quite a mound of them when the plate arrived, they disappeared quickly. My margarita on the rocks had little lime flavor and tasted watered down. It wasn’t one of the best margaritas I’ve had. I’d pass on it if I went back. The menu is varied and the prices are low. Portion sizes are moderate. It’s not a place where you’ll leave hungry, but you also are not likely to have leftovers to take home. For my meal, I ordered the beer battered shrimp with mashed potatoes and broccoli as my sides. When the shrimp arrived, they were breaded, not beer battered. They weren’t bad, but they were not what the menu description led me to expect. I would have liked it better if they had used the same batter that they had used for the onion rings. There wasn’t really any flavor to the shrimp at all. I probably wouldn’t order them again. Before I ordered the mashed potatoes, I confirmed with our waitress that they were fresh, not instant. They were fresh, with skins included, and I liked them. My broccoli was overcooked to the point of mushiness. It had the same texture in my mouth as the mashed potatoes, and wasn’t very appetizing. The atmosphere seemed very nondescript compared with the one other Cheddar’s I’ve been to. I can’t recall anything standing out about it. It wasn’t unpleasant, just bland. It could have been any one of a number of chain restaurants. Our waitress was efficient and didn’t keep us waiting long for anything. We did feel rushed when we were finished with our meal, though. We were handed our bill as soon as we were done eating, without even being given a chance to order dessert. I had been looking forward to getting one of their Key lime desserts, but we ended up paying and leaving instead. My overall impression was one of blandness, both in terms of atmosphere and the food. It’s a place to sate your hunger inexpensively. The one stand-out for me was the onion rings. I would definitely get those again. And I would suggest only going if you are in a group of six or less.

We ate lunch at Cheddars today and it was great!! I had the chicken and pecan salad, which was fantastic. My husband had shepherds pie and he also enjoyed it. We both drank a couple margaritas, which were very tasty. The drinks were also not very expensive. Great meal!!

We had not been here in a while so had a coupon offer and went back. The food is consistently delicious, nice portion and filling. We were seated immediately and our waiter was prompt. We ordered the queso w/beef & chips to begin. The chips were crisp but more broken up small pieces than larger dipping pieces for the queso and beef. This also comes with a milder salsa as well. Then we split a dish of Chicken Tender Parmesan which is three good size tenders served on a bed of spaghetti with marinara sauce. It was plenty of food to split. The chicken had a nice crispy crust and tender inside with the pasta being cooked just right and the marinara sauce not overpowering. Very good dish especially for the coupon pricing $7.99. This place had not disappointed yet and we will be back, hopefully sooner than later. Parking was no issue, the restaurant was clean and so was the ladies restroom.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The adult beverage "Painkiller" was to die for! And the food and prices were excellent!!

I had the chicken fried steak. The meat was rubbery and battered so that it looked bigger than it was. The other 2 people with me, ordered the 6oz sirloin. Same issue. Lousy, rubbery and disappointing. The service was excellent, the food--not so much. The ONLY redeeming thing about this meal was the monster cookie dessert; deliciousness! Not worth going back though.👎

They were very capable of handling 7 of us. Everyone ordered something different and we had no problems with the orders. All of the meals had nice presentation and appeared to be healthy. My chicken pot pie was very good and came with a side salad to my surprise - very reasonable

The first time I visited Cheddar's, I ordered Key West Chicken and Shrimp and it was so deliscious that I order it every time I visit the place. Their Bourbon sauce makes it especially tasty. The green beans side dish are cooked the way I like them - done and well seasoned. The service is usually good.

This new Northwest San Antonio Cheddar's on IH10 West is located near Fiesta Texas and "The Rim," so the location is very convenient to many. And I mean many. We pass by there frequently and have noted that the large parking lot is nearly always full. We decided to give Cheddar's a shot after church last Sunday since a couple of friends had recommended the place. Predictably, based on the number of cars in the parking lot, the hostess said the wait would be 20-25 minutes. So we stood near the very attractive, large aquarium doing the iPhone thing while we waited. Others were standing around as well and it soon became quite crowded to the point that wait staff were having to find a way through the mob to take care of business. By the time our buzzer went off the hostess was telling people the wait would be 45 minutes. I was thinking to myself that the food must be really, really good for people to wait that long for a table with so many other decent restaurants just around the bend or back down IH10 towards DeZavala Road. We were escorted to a table that was still being cleaned up and were seated a rather damp table. OK. I've sat at damp tables before and blew it off. The place is nicely divided into several distinct dining areas and the dark stained wood all around gave the place an upscale feel. But the upscale feel quickly took a dive when I looked at the menu - everything was very inexpensive. The menu offered a wide variety of appetizers, entrees and soup/sandwich combos - sort of a cross among Chilis, TGIF and Red Lobster. Warning signals went off in my head as I realized that there was no way they could put out high quality food at those prices. I expected the worst. But I was pleasantly surprised when my carefully arraigned chicken nachos arrived with a big bowl of red chili that was actually real chili like you would find at a Texas chili cookoff. The fresh jalepeno's were arranged nicely around the 15, or so, nachos. In the center was a patch of grated lettuce and a dollop of sour cream. Some guacamole would have been good, but was missing. The chili was meaty and decent and had enough fire to coax a glaze of sweat to this old brow. Well, OK. Good enough then. My wife ordered the grilled salmon and said it was about like you would expect at Red Lobster. Good, if not wonderful. Her baked potato was a typical baked potato, but the amazingly deep-green steamed broccoli was seasoned nicely with garlic butter. Well, OK. Not bad. I was amazed sort of like I was on my first trip to Cosco. The wait staff seemed to be in a hustle-and-bustle mode rather than a pay-attention-to-the- needs-of-your-party mode, although our server was reasonably attentive and quite friendly and warm. I'd say one of the ways they try to make ends meet in light of their low prices is to keep personnel costs to a minimum. I suppose the Cheddar's concept makes sense. If you can cram enough volume through the restaurant you can keep the prices low enough to compete with Whataburger, Chick-fil-a and Wendys and still keep the quality several notches above fast food at the same time. But a couple of prices you pay at Cheddar's for the cheap food are the long waits and the harried wait staff. I am giving this place a four - in spite of my gut feeling to give it a three - simply because of the extremely low prices for reasonably good food.

My wife and I decided to eat at Cheddar's on our way home from the Rim Shopping Center. We had never been here before, and receive a coupon offer $7.99 - 6 oz USDA Choice center-cut Top Sirloin served over a bed of onion straws & two sides We both ordered Top Sirloin and I ordered a side salad as one of my sides and the salad came with a Honey Butter Croissants. The food was good consistently delicious, nice portion and filling. We were seated immediately and our waiter was prompt and also I received a military discount 10%. Cheddar's has many dishes to choose from a local menu. We will be back and would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting for scratch made food for an outstanding price. You average Entrees is around $9.99 per plate & two sides

terrible food, waited over an hour for food, food cold, charged us for the meals anyways, no compensation for the distasteful service... I'd of gotten a better meal at subway. #Don't waste your time

I chose this venue as we had flown from the UK the day before and then driven from Houston during this particular day and we wanted something hearty but easy to get to from our hotel and reasonably priced. It's very inviting (except the host sat at the door who yawned as we walked in) and reminds me of a Bluebeckers type restaurant back here in the UK with stone and wood walls/beams. We were served quickly and our drinks and food arrived in a reasonable amount of time.despite it being a busy Thursday night. My husband had the babyback ribs with chips and coleslaw and I had the grilled salmon with rice, chilli mac'n'cheese and sweetcorn and both of us ate every morsel and thoroughly enjoyed it! Good variety of dishes for old and young and all taste buds too.

We were shocked to see such low prices for everything including alcohol. The portions were very big and everything was very tasty. I wish we had a Cheddars close to my home!!

this is a popular place and they do not take reservations...we always sit at the bar (usually no waiting). The beer is cold and the food is fresh and tastes great.

I often dine at Cheddar's and the baby back ribs are so good. The broiled talapia is great, the Spagania is wonderful, the onion rings are good. Everything is great! I will continue to dine at Cheddar's and the line starts building up about 11:00 am each day, especially Saturday and Sunday. Excellent place to dine with or without family.

Making the trasition between San Antonio and Boerne, Texas, this was a great stop for lunch. Clean property, great service, fabulous food. Ordered the chicken fried steak and didn't expect much but got more then I expected. The meat was fork ready with coating that was NOT hard or fried. More like melt in your mouth. The potatoes were good but what topped off the meal was the gravy. What ever it touched became a delightful mouthful. Service was special, in that our server was right near for our every request. Answering our every question with great recommendations. I would recommend this property to friends and family. .

Brought my family to eat dinner here and were were disappointed. Took over 50 minutes to get our food. Ordered drinks, sent 2 of them back because they were nasty. Wasn't impressed with our waitress at all. Gravy was ice cold. Steak was cooked medium rare and tough, tough and had tendon all throughout. Pasta dish my sister ordered was watery. Couldn't even get our waters refilled. Chicken strips were good. Really disappointed since I had told my visiting sister how good they were. Shrimp was nothing to write home about either.

My family weren't so hungry so they just had appetizers. I had the fried shrimp. I ordered a few extra fearing they'd be popcorn size. I was SO wrong. I got large shrimp and couldn't finish everything. And the shrimp was delicious.

We choose to eat a Cheddar's because it's a scratch kitchen. Unfortunately this visit was not a good one. Food presentation was poor-looked like food was slopped on plates. Order was messed up and our waitress guaranteed us that the kitchen would mess our order up because they were so busy. We waited 45 minutes for a table on a Friday night and the restaurant was so loud you couldn't hear your party on the other side of the table. In the future we will avoid this restaurant on the weekends...the pros don't outweigh the cons.

Our first visit to any Cheddars' today. We were seated by the hostess, who said our server would be over soon. We waited, we picked out something to order. We waited, talking for a while. We waited some more, with only 2 menus and and silverware. After half an hour, we had already noticed another couple was also just waiting like us, although they hadn't been there quite as long as we had. Finally, DH went over to talk to the hostess. She said something about not having any server available, but she'd see about getting somebody to help us. Another five minutes, nothing. Then I noticed that a group of employees were at the front near the hostess station, just standing there! Well...obviously we were toally INVISIBLE!!! As we walked out, I told them we were leaving...maybe that broke the spell, because a couple of them said something to us. Too late, however! I nominate this place for a Worst Service of 2013 Award!

The wait was a bit long but well advised. Once seated our waitress was fantastically amazing knowledgeable and so attentive. :) prices, portions, and drinks were perfect! We will be back, soon!!

First time visit was not great possibly because it was unbelievably crowded. THE FRIED SHRIMP, CHICKEN TENDERS AND CHICKEN FRIED STEAK WERE NOT BAD, BUT WE WERE OVERCHARGED ON OUR BILL AND DIDN'T REALIZE THIS UNTIL WE WERE HOME. The croissants are the best you will find anywhere and the salads are good. Our family will give it one more chance, but there is so much to choose from in San Antonio that the best thing Cheddar's has going for it is value.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. Service was mediocre. We had to keep asking for refills on tea. The last time they were having to make some more. Our silverware was plastic forks and a knife as they didn’t have any clean. Steak was ordered medium well and was burnt. Baked potato was crunchy. Very disappointing meal. Not a good representation of the Cheddar’s chain.

Cheddar's is always crowded, has great food and service so come early to find a parking spot. They have a large parking lot but since the word has spread about their food you better get there early.

My wife ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo because she wanted something not spicy. Too bad they put, according to our server, cayenne pepper in the sauce. Be careful what you order.

I don't want to offend anybody, but I honestly feel the service and food was poor. First when I ate my food which was the key west chicken and shrimp. It wasn't that great. I feel like Luby's has way better food than here. Table was dirty, and when I paid the waitress didn't give me my full change back. I shouldn't have tipped in the first place because of this. I know there's people starving and I at least should be grateful I ate. But with the money I have. I feel like I'm wasting my time, and money here. I could go spend my money where it's worth it.

Food is good but I last night I stop by the one on nw loop 410 and this place was very dirty food all over the carpet menus were dirty and wet I ask my server to change it he did so we order some drinks but we decided not to eat there ho will want to eat on such a dirty place this place needs new management would never stop by there again or recomend to anybody

We have been to Cheddar's in the Dallas area and were really excited for the San Antonio location to open. It is always crowded so you just have to go and wait if you want to eat here. The wait is never long. The chicken pot pie is excellent and so is the corn meal fried catfish. They offer lunch portions and full portions on some of their menu items. You must try one of their Classic Margaritas!! I take half of my entree home to make sure that I have room for the apple pie a-la-mode with caramel drizzle.

This was my first time to eat at one of these chains and I liked it very much. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Reasonably priced.

Stopped in for dinner to find the place packed, at 9pm. Was lucky to find a quick seat at the bar. Ordered one of their light meals and it was very, very good. Even though the place was full I got served very quickly. The prices weren't expensive at all either. Good, safe choice.

Nice newer building with the ambience of an updated road house. Most of the usual comfort foods are served. The cheese burger we had was O.K. The onion rings that we saw delivered to a nearby table looked wonderful . . . a huge stack for around $5.00 which would compare to Red Robin's version for $9.00!! Would definitely go back when I am in the mood for cheesy (though not too Cheesy).

The first time here, when brand new, was very nice. Prompt attention from staff and good food. This time however, I ordered a salad and sat down to watch Dr. Oz and wait for an appointment. The salad took 25 minutes to get to my table and was drenched in dressing that I had asked not be put on. During Dr. Oz someone started messing with the channel guide trying to find something else to set ALL the sets to. I asked that the station be returned and am still waiting for that request. The waitress asked if the salad was ok and I said no - and left a large portion of the dressing-soaked salad on the plate. A man later came with my bill and said he would take care of it now. I've never been asked to pay a bill without reviewing it and told him that I would pay when I had an opportunity to review it. Probably won't return here and will try Chuy's next door next time. Too bad.

We’ve been coming to this location since it opened, the area has really boomed in the last few years but Cheddars has been pretty consistent throughout. The wait wasn’t bad, pretty loud on a Friday night. They have great happy hour selections and good appetizers. We like the Onion Rings but there are a lot of choices.

The Cheddar's Casual Cafe on I-10 west in northwest San Antonio was the spot for our quick lunch. Our son had dined in another Cheddar's in our home city, but it was our first time for my wife and me. It was a very good exprerience and we all went crazy over the tremendous onion rings we had as an appetizer. These onion rings were some of the best I've had in any restaurant or fast food restaurant. The service was quick and the entrees were just the right size for lunch. We will be dining in Cheddar's again when the opportunity arises.

the last 2 times we went to Cheddars at 7403 nw loop 410 in san antonio we were seated in the bar and thought " wow, we'll get faster service since there is hardly anyone in the bar area". well, the first time we walked out because we waited 15 minutes and the waitress never made it back to us after giving us the menus. The next time the waiter came to our table and seemed so stressed out that he was annoyed at any question we asked. I think the bar area at certain times is only serviced by one person so the staff is overwhelmed though there are few guests. If I should ever go back and this happens i will definitely talk to management!!!

Went for lunch and I order "Fish Tacos" & the Chicken Pot Pie. Pot Pie was so hot that it burned your palette. The Fish tacos came with a side of Broccoli & Cheese Casserole (tasted great). The Fish tacos had a very small piece of fish and a lot of cole slaw. I removed half the slaw, but still not enough fish. The waitress asked if I asked for slaw since she saw so much of it on my plate. Cost for the food seams to have steadily increased since it's opening.

Cheddars never disappoints. I order the same thing every time. Bourbon Glazed Salmon on top a bed of steamed rice. Cooked to perfection every time. Melts in your mouth. Also tried the Michaelada and have to say it was one of the best I had.

We had a good time at Cheddars. We only waited 2 min to be seated. The food was great, the Pain killer cocktail was awesome (strong). Only bad part was that it was crowded so it got hot fast! My husband was sweating and uncomfortable until the ac finally kicked on after complaining. We witnessed a waiter drop some tortilla chips and picking them up off the floor, placing them back on the plate. We just stared in Aww with our mouths open like, did he just do what I thought he did!? Other than that and the hot muggy temperature it was great.

We were looking for something different than the regular chain restaurants. We stopped by Cheddars on a Saturday. There was only a short wait for a table for five. The appetizers were great and served quick. The menu has a great variety and great prices to match. Our meals were served quickly and everyone enjoyed the food. Our server was very attentive, especially with drink refills. We will be going back again.

Our waitress was the best. Real friendly and happy even greeted other workers saying welcome to work. What a asset she was to this location. I think it was Micelle S. food was good and came out fast.

My family and extended family met here for Moms Day. No line at 5pm and we had a super kind waiter. The manager came over w/ free chips and queso and said thank you to my hubby in uniform. We had burgers, philly cheese steaks and pasta plates. All around we were all pleased and even had a cocktail. Wheelchair accessible and kid friendly!

Good food at decent prices. The wait staff was a little inexperienced, but they got the job done. Very close to Fiesta Texas.

Been going to this restaurant on and off for years. Never had a problem. Went this past weekend for a last minuet dinner with the family. Every time we go we always the Monte Cristo and chicken fried steak. Both were excellent again. Some one in our party had the Philly Cheese Steak, and they said it was delicious. Are waitress (Vanessa), was fantastic. She was on top of everything. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to scratch made food for an outstanding price. You average around $9 per plate.

While visiting my son, we decided to eat Sunday lunch here. I ordered their combo with soup, salad and a sandwich. With my Caesar salad they provided a very nice croissant. I gave it to my wife and son. They liked it so much we ordered a plate of three more. They felt is was a good or better than croissants we have had in France! The menu has a nice variety. I would be remiss if I didn't mention their flavored teas. I had the raspberry tea unsweetened. It was excellent.

I really was happy with this one. Service was pretty good. Drinks were good, we sat in bar. Food came out, good presentation and cooked correctly. Appetizer was good and out quick. I have had bad experience in other areas with Cheddars but this one was good. It was also very clean. Will be going back.
The food and value are excellent
You need to try Cheddar's. The food was excellent and so were the prices. The Hot Fudge Cake was huge and only cost $5.79.
