We have been here on many occasions and each time the food and service is outstanding. If you want REAL authentic Mexican food this is the only place in town.

We had a great dinner, celebrating a friends birthday. The food was excellent, we recommend the ceviche!!! Waitstaff was incredibly attentive, and responded to every request we made. The food was very authentic, and delicious.

Fantastic food, awesome margaritas, friendly staff; what more can you ask for? It sounds like a Chinese name, but they have fantastic Yucatan Peninsula and Central American fare.

The food is amazing and the service is great. Antonio made our experience wonderful!!! This is one of our favorite restaurants to eat at and Antonio is our favorite waiter.

Perfect meal on the way out of Aventura, service is great and the chili verdes enchiladas are amazing.

Cheer Huaye in North Miami has disappointed me in the last two visits, so sad.... On our two last visits, in August and September, we ordered Chicken and Beef Fajitas. Both the chicken and the beef were so overcooked and dry that it was unacceptable. On both occasions, we asked for the owner but he was not at the restaurant. The first time we let it go, the second time we tried to get the attention of the Manager but he was too busy talking to a female patron at the bar. We never saw him coming around the tables to ask people if the food was satisfactory, other than to bring a couple of plates. We have been coming to this place since they opened and saw with how much dedication and sacrifice, the owner and his spouse worked so hard to make it the best in this area. Please, please do not leave the restaurant in the hands of uncaring employees in the kitchen and management. We love your place and hope you will take care of this. Thank you.

Excellent Oaxacate soup and guacamole. Great margaritas and Tacos al Pastor are almost as good as in Merida, MX where the owner and cook are from. Queso Fundido would be better with real chopped Chorizo rather than ground but all in all a great reasonably priced neighborhood gem.

I have been hearing good things about this restaurant from several people, so I thought I'd give it a shot. We went for lunch and both ordered frozen Margaritas. About ten minutes later the waitress came back and said they had no working blender in the restaurant. They also don't have a full liquor license so their drinks are made with wine. In their defense, they do make this perfectly clear both on their front window and with table tents. We had a vegetable enchilada and a steak fajita. Both were good but neither was outstanding. The service was good, but there were only two tables at the time. Overall it was just OK. There was nothing we had that would cause us to return in the future.

I had not been to Cheen Huaye in a long time. I was pleased to see that they have expanded and the quality of the food and the great service are still excellent. Although they offer several Mexican dishes, the southeastern dishes, such as Cochinita Pibil are outstanding...this is not an easy cuisine to master and they totally do! I will return more often. Food is outstanding, service amazingly good and all at not very high prices.

There is a limited Lunch Specials menu available on weekdays. From that menu I selected the flautas entrée with chicken as my meat option. This came with refried beans and Mexican rice. There was also chips and salsa. All very good and reasonably priced. Attractive ambiance with Mexican background songs.

This restaurant is a great place to go to for excellent Southern Mexican food, great service, and excellent prices. Every time that we stop in, whether for lunch or dinner, we are made to feel like welcomed family members. The owner takes a special interest with every patron to make sure that they have the best food and service possible. The menu is true Southern Mexican cuisine - this is not fast food or chain food - made with the best flavors and love and served with care. Our only regret is that we live on the other side of the county and we are not in that area often enough.

Really very authentic mexican food, the tamales are, amazing, the tacos very good. Impossible better. Very nice and clean the place, the service A1. We will come back.

Have had lunch and dinner at this restaurant on multiple occasions with my husband. The food is always made fresh and is delivered to the table in a timely manner. Mojito's are available for $4 during happy hour special which run for most of the day. The servers are always attentive to our table and deliver exceptional service. My father in law is Mexican and I'm certain that he will enjoy his experience when we bring him for his birthday during the month of June.

We’ve dined here many many times. The food is consistently good, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the experience is always pleasant. They are very accommodating in food selection and custom cook your meal. Guacamole guaranteed great! Highly recommend.

This wasn't my first time here! But it is my first time since writing Yelp reviews! It was good a few years ago and it is good now! I loved the different options in term of what some people think of as typical Mexican food. Prices are Good and so is the service!

Since the first time our son brought us to this fine restaurant, my husband and I make sure we eat here at least once when we’re in Miami. The service is always great and the food is exceptional but affordable. We especially love the mole sauce. It alone would make anything taste even better! Please make the time to try Cheema Huaye!

Staff was super friendly and prompt! Never had an empty glass and always fresh baskets of chips. Food was delicious and came very quickly. Our server Jorge was incredible he made our experience a lot of fun (including moving some tables for us so we could dance to the music). 5/5 Stars !!

Having lived in Yucatan for some years I believe I know the local food. Going to this place in N. Miami was not only as good as home but in many ways better. Outstanding selection, attention and all for a very moderate price. The owner Marco and his lovely wife were great and made sure we had everything we needed. Truly one of the best dining experiences I have had in the Miami area. A must stop when you are in town. I do not believe reservations are required but the place fills up, it's that good, so call ahead or get there early, you will not be disappointed

I read the reviews and came this evening. It's excellent folks we drank sangria all night ate really good food and the staff was fantastic.

Discreet and tucked away, this is a great place for Mexican food. The service is very personable and the food is really good. Watch out for the chips and salsa. They're sooooo good, you can easily fill up on them! Definitely going back!

Some of the special dishes we had were well prepared and really unique. White Sangria was nice and refreshing. Service was attentive - we will definitely go back.

Finding authentic Mexican food in Miami is actually harder than you would think, so it was awesome to be introduced to Cheen Huaye! The margaritas you could tell were made from scratch, the ceviche was amazing and since we went on the day of the dead they were offering traditional tamal made for the occasion, which was outstanding! Not to mention the staff were all incredibly nice! I will definitely go again and would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Mexican meal.

Our server Jorge was amazing. Overall a wonderful experience. The food was well presented and tasted homemade. Delicious!

Delicious appetizers delicious entrees food not heavy and excellent service. Cute restaurant. Definite must try. Outstanding Mexican restaurant with attentive service.

I came for lunch and lucky for me it was during happy hour. I had the carne asada with refried beans and it was mouth watering and delicious. The steak was juicy and the flavors were a mouth orgasm. The margaritas was amazing too, not too strong and very refreshing. Ask for the bartender's special the cucumber and cilantro margarita. It's to die for.

I’ve been coming here since it opened. ABSOLUTELY my favorite restaurant in Miami HANDS DOWN! I moved away from Miami 3 years ago and always look forward to coming here whenever I’m back in town.

I have been here several times. Every time the owner makes you feel very welcome and prepares food to your taste. I am vegetarian and I love it here. The chili rhinos is awesome. Also the veggie quesadilla deserves a mention.

Go here often and it's always good. Staff very friendly too! A little on the small side but it's cozy with good parking.

What do I know about Mexican food you ask? Well... I'm a misplaced(at heart or better yet through stomach) Mexican. I looove Mexican food and I mean Mexican food not the Tex mex. For starters I lived in Texas for over 20 years getting my weekly fix of some of the finest Mexican cuisine. I have traveled to Mexico close to a dozen times and I know the difference between texmex and authentic Mexican and so does this place!!! Anything I have ever ordered here is mouth watering! They use the real Mexican cheese not the yellow one. Salsa is damn good! Recommendations: mole chicken, crab enchiladas (May not be on menu but ask) and the avocado soup(amazing!!) Order a Mexican beer or margarita(on the rocks!) and I promise the food will be amazing!

I went there with two friends for dinner and honestly, I hated everything about it. I understand that it's a family owned restaurant, but they didn't seem to care about creating a lasting impression for their customers. My friend ordered something and asked for no onions and she was told that the chef can't do it because it will mess up the recipe. I had fajitas and honestly, it was just horrible. If you want authentic Mexican, try somewhere because this place ain't worth it

5 of us ate there. Eveyone loved it . We started with queso fundito-loved that and chile relleno tostadas. We had chile rellenos, both shrimp and steak. Also Arrachera a la Campecina (grilled steak +++, and fish tacos.

The food was great and the service was good. I wold come back to this place again and again. Thank you also for taking good care of my grandma who was in a wheel chair and she was super happy.

Decided to check out this restaurant with friends but this will be the first and last time visiting this local spot. The inside is small but nicely decorated. We were immediately greeted upon arriving and asked for our drink order. Service was rather slow after that considering there were only 2 tables being occupied. One of the waiters was extremely rude (tall young hispanic man with slicked back hair) and started cleaning the table next to us with windex while we were eating. RUDE!! I ordered the mahi tacos, which I can honestly say, I've had better!! My husband had the fajitas which tasted like rubber and the carne asada was overcooked! I have no interest in returning to this place and wouldn't recommend it either!

Ambiance 3 Service 5 Cleanliness 5 Food 4 Price 4 It's a normal average place. Very good for family reunion and friends night outs

Everything we had was delicious....the food, margaritas, down to their house made hot sauce. Friendly and hospitable staff! We will definitely be back.

A good variety of Mexican dishes, well prepared, nicely presented and pleasant service. Our server Jorge was attentive and efficient.

Cheen Huaye has great ambiance and incredible service, as well as the best salsa & fajitas that I've ever had. Our appetizer, the name of which I can't remember, was also excellent (melted cheese with mushrooms, to be spread over tortillas). Highly recommended for anyone so much as stopping through (as I was) the north Miami area.

Such great flavors and variety in the menu. We have been coming here since we moved to the area and not once it has disappointed us. We've always experienced great service, even the owner comes by to check on us. They might even give your pet friendly service, we brought our puppy once, he was loving the ice cubes and attention :)

We eat lunch here all the time. Consistant and always fresh. Cant be beat. Tremendous selection of tequila. Dont miss it!

Stopped in for a cocktail and dinner. Our margaritas were perfect- especially with a bit of cilantro mixed in! Guacamole n Smoky salsa to start... then fish tacos & chili relleno. Both were very tasty, and well presented.

We love this place and have been coming for years. Authentic Mexican food, always delicious. The ceviche is the best in Miami. Antonio our server was attentive and a credit to the restaurant.

When my son who lives in NY suggested this restaurant after searching the internet, I was skeptical and insisted in a plan B. First , the name. ha ha. I thought it sounded asian! and the location; I dont particularly prefer restaurants in small shopping centers. However, we went, I am glad we did. The restaurant is indeed very Mexican. The name is written in Mayan language. Meaning "Solo Aqui" (Only Here), if I remember correctly. This is an unpretentious place, and a great restaurant. We ordered many things. Everything was very good. My favorite plate: without a doubt, the Ceviche with fish, tuna, and, shrimp. I love Ceviche but in must of the places I have been it is too sour (too much lemon/vinegar.) No this one. It was excellent. I can't wait to go back and try it again. The service was very, very good by Mauricio, who was our waiter. Thank you Mauricio for a great service. Enjoy this place. Great discovery from our part.

We enjoyed our experience and our food. Margarita on the rocks delicious. Chicken Fajitas and Fish tacos were very tasty. We kept room for dessert and so glad we did: the churros were excellent. Prices very reasonable. We would return again.

Went with friends; some of the food is really good. Recommend the ceviche; & the Hanbenera sauce is great but the rest is average. Jamie, our server, was really good. The manager will upsell, and we bought into the dessert as well, and could have avoided the extra sugar. While I appreciated the manager in proactively asking us how food was, she really wasn’t open to feedback. My friend didn’t enjoy his dish, and she said “it happens.” And yes they double charged for a dish which we got removed. It seemed like a genuine mistake because they had made the guacamole with gluten, and we had requested one without gluten. Overall, it didn’t wow us!

The owner and staff are super nice and very humble which reflects in the food. Made from heart and you can taste freshness in everything. if you are in miami area you can't miss this place at all... Highly recommended!!!!

Hidden gem with some of the best mexican food in Miami. The owner and chef is as creative as anyone out there. Always looking forward to Marco's new culinary creations!!! Highly recommended 😊

Nice service, easy access The margarita was excellent , guacamole and tortillas more than acceptable I ordered the pork carnitas with refried beans and rice. Pork was good and the steak covered with malted cheese was also scriptable buy nothing special. Desert included a chocolate cake and candles ice cream.

One on my favorites restaurants. I go to Cheen Huane at least once a month, excellent food and excellent service. Best Guacamole I ever had, our favorites dishes are Chicken Flautas, Arrachera Steak, chicken fajitas. Give it a try if you are in the North Miami, Aventura area.

Incredible food. Exceptional service. I don’t even know what I ate, because I asked my server to pick something awesome. Whatever it was, it was incredible. Some kind of magical bowl with steak, green salsa, avocado, grilled green onions, and sausage, with beans and rice on the side. All I know is that it was phenomenal. I’ll never come back to the area without stopping off at this joint. This place is a gem.

Cheen Huaye I used to live in aventura and this was a Staple for me and my family. The food is amazing, with specials all the time. Everything is fresh chips with homemade salsas for free and if you like spicy they have incredible spicy salsa as well. Vast number of tequilas on the menu and margaritas as well. This is a winner hands down!!

I found Cheen Huaye on Tripadvisor and have fallen in love with the food, the drink, the atmosphere, and the staff. I've eaten Mexican food all over the country and this is some of the very best. The bar is excellent. The food even better!!! I've tried Asada, Mole, and Guacamole, and all are great. I love really hot sauces, and the salsa verde at Chefn Huaya does not disappoint!

Many people might believe that Taco Bell is an authentic Mexican dinner. While it may be cheap and quick, it is definitely not the place to go for authentic Mexican food. The place to go is Cheen Huaye in Aventura. I visited Cheen Huaye one afternoon with a friend. The restaurant is located on the corner of a strip mall. Upon entering the restaurant, you know that this is going to be an authentic meal and not some cheesy Tex-Mex style experience. The restaurant was very clean with a casual but nice atmosphere. We were immediately greeted by a waitress who told us we could sit anywhere we would like. There were many tables to choose from, indoor and outdoor but we choose to sit inside. Upon picking our table, our waitress introduced herself and asked what we would like to drink. We ordered waters and began scanning the menu. The menu has a nice selection, but is not too big. It is helpful to know a small amount of basic Spanish in order to completely understand some of the dishes, but there are also explanations listed in English. Our waitress brought out the standard free chips and salsa along with our drinks. The salsa was among the best I have ever had. It was extremely fresh, full of flavor and spicy like I like it! Definitely not your typical tomato from a can. For my meal, I ordered the Tacos de Pescado. It was made with fresh grilled Mahi-Mahi. The fish was perfectly cooked, seasoned and flaky. The meal was served with Mexican rice, Red Picked Onions, pico de gallo, and guacamole on the side. Everything was delicious and again very fresh. My friend ordered a Steak Burrito, which was not on the menu but that they special made per request. It was very good! Not one bite was left on the plate! All in all, the food was amazing. Everything tasted like it had just been prepared. Nothing tasted over-processed or bland. The service was exceptional too. The waitress was very professional! The restaurant was not packed at the time we dined, but still we waited no more than 15 minutes and our dishes arrived at the same time, piping hot. Cheen Huaye is the perfect place to grab some authentic Mexican on a casual date, lunch or dinner with friends.

Miami is not known for its Mexican food which is typically mediocre at best. But this place consistently serves authentic delicious southern Mexican food which is much fresher and delicious than your typically heavy Americanized Mexican food. Service is excellent. Also not typical for south Florida where service is usually terrible. This place is a gem.

Cheen Huaye's food is amazing and I always have a wonderful time eating here! This is a family owned restaurant with a very warm friendly staff. You'll often see the owners working alongside their staff. My three favorite dishes are the Poc Choc, Mole Poblano, and the Puerco Pibil. They also make fantastic Margaritas.

What a fabulous place to have a great authentic Mexican food. The hospitality was wonderful. For appetizer , the queso fundido with chorizo and mushroom, fabulous! The fresh tortillas chips and salsa was great. Great tacos of carne asada and great area hear campesina. The flavor and freshness of the food is great. Huge plates for fajita combo. Love, love their flour tortillas. Our server, Humberto, was exceptional. Professional and very friendly. Never had to wait for refills of water. Fabulous lunch. Definitely a place to visit when wanting authentic Mexican food.

Tucked into the north end of a strip shopping center on US 1, I had not been here for several months. It was even better than I remembered it. A ceviche was wonderful with a great but not overpowering lime taste. Carnitas proved to be perfectly marinated and the service was solidly good and friendly and the company was perfect.

The food is authentic, very well prepared and reasonable prices. The service is also great. You really have to be attentive since it is located on a corner of a strip shopping center and easily missed. But it is worth the try.

You haven't had Mexican food until you've had Cheen Huaye. My family and I are regulars, and the food never ceases to amaze. Everyone we bring becomes regulars. Every dish is delicious. My personal favorite is the steak/chicken fajitas but there are plenty of other incredible dishes on the menu (such as the carne asada which you can never go wrong with). If you're looking for a bit of heat, ask for the homemade habanero sauce. Everyday there's a new batch, and every time it's amazing. If you're in the area, it's worth the visit! (Attached is the picture of the fajita platter which also comes with rice, beans, pico, guacamole, sour cream, and tortillas)

What I can tell you about this restaurant is the food was fresh and enjoyed by both my wife and I. The seafood was very tasty and chips fresh. My wife had a fish dish that she enjoyed. We will visit this restaurant again.

We came upon Cheen Huaye by accident, but couldn't be happier that we stumbled upon it. The authentic Mexican offerings exceeded our expectations. The guacamole was decadent, the refried beans were, without exception, the best we've ever had, and the entrees were out of this world. But, what really sold us, was the churros and accompanying dulce de leche sauce (smoother than any we've ever had!). Antonio was also attentive, provided great recommendations, and made our visit overly enjoyable. If you're looking for authentic Mexican (and I can't stress authentic enough) then Cheen Huaye is the place to go!

Grandson suggested this place for lunch so the 4 of us stopped. It was good Mexican food, not Tex Mex. Service was good a very pleasant. We started our meal with a appetizer, Queso Fundido with chorizo. A very tasty starter but for $9 it could have used a little more chorizo. You had to look to find some. I had Cochinita Pibil, it was very good and a ample portion. At $16.95 not exactly inexpensive. My wife and granddaughter had Carnitas, again they were very good and it was a ample portion but at overpriced $14.00. My grandson had Cheese Enchiladas de mole. Very tasty, but again at $14.00 for a cheese enchilada is not inexpensive. If you could get past the chlorinated taste and smell the best deal was the soft drinks at $2.50. Definitely a good profit margin there for fountain drinks. Could believe that tea cost more that soft drinks, at $2.75 I consider it price gouging. Total price $84.46. With tip $100. Way overpriced for the what was served. This is a plain strip mall restaurant not a nice well decorated themed fine dining restaurant.

The food was fresh and tasty. The service was impeccable. The margaritas were delicious and reasonable priced. Hands down I'll be back

We tried this place on a weekend thinking it would be less busy than some of our other options, which it was. We never really had a particular server. One employee apologized and said they all thought someone else had our table. Our appetizer didn’t come to us before our meal. My margarita was mediocre. The food came out quickly, but it wasn’t really anything to write home about.

The first time I go to a new Mexican place I always order one of two dishes to test the quality of the food. It's Tacos de Carne Asada or Tacos al Pastor. This time is was the Pastor and it was wonderful, just the right mix of sweet(the pineapple) and spice. Served with corn tortillas and fresh guacamole. I also ordered the refried beans and rice which were an inexpensive addition ($3). The beans especially authentic. My son ordered the Verde enchiladas, I tasted them and they were great, nice fresh verde sauce. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the food was lightning fast and delivered piping hot. My only criticism would be the salsa that is offered is very fresh but too mild for my taste. They gave me a bottle of habanero sauce but not just the same as a good salsa made just from peppers and spicy. Maybe they could make a weak version and offer a spicier version for those of us who like real salsa.

The restaurant was good but nothing exceptional. The food was good but I expected more after reading the reviews. I'd eat there again but I'm in no hurry to go back.

It was a wonderful experience. Antonio did a great job serving us. We ordered Mahi mahi and it was big portion. Big thumbs up.

After an hour drive, I must admit this place is beyond my expectations. From the tamale to the steak this place is amazing. The service was also on point. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone in Miami

The atmosphere is fantastic. They've expanded, so the dining area is no longer small. The bar is super impressive. Unique tequilas are on display. For non- alcoholic options, try the horchata, a light refreshing rice drink. We ordered the tacos al pastor. Very good with the green salsa and guac. Presentation is simple yet modern. Large screen TVs make it a casual environment. All in all, a great time.

I am mexican and I love this place. Their sopes, salbutes, queso fundido, cochinita pibil tacos, agua de horchata are my favorite. It's really authentic mexican food. Highly recommended.

We are coming to Miami every couple of years, and cheen huaye is always on our todo list at least once or twice. Food is absolutely delicious, qualitative ingredients, friendly stuff, very good margaritas. One of the best Mexican Restaurants outside of Mexico ;-)

Amazing Mexican cuisine. I’ve been coming here for many years. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Miami. I love the Cochinita Pibil. Always friendly atmosphere and ver consistent dishes.

I went here with my wife who travels to this area on business frequently. This place has become a favorite of hers. Now it is one of mine as well. Great food with reasonable prices. The food is more southern Mexican so it has it's own distinct flavor. The margarita was great as well.

Wow. Absolutely delicious. Please go if you want delicious authentic Mexican food . You will be so happy like I was. GO!!!

A very friendly, cozy Mexican restaurant. There wasn't anything that we did not like. Reasonable prices, clean place, and very tasty food. I wish I had a restaurant like it where I live. We were in a group and, even though the place is small, we had a nice time.

We were there on Wednesday... tried the "Sopa de Lima" and "Tortilla soup"... simply delicious... and their Margaritas are also fantastic!... We like spicy food and asked for more salsa, they brought the "house one" and we loved it... spicy, sour... yum! We will definitely come back!

i thought the food was good, but was expecting a bit more. i was also surprised that it's as expensive as it was for mexican food. no plans to return anytime soon.

I absolutely love authentic Mexican food - not Tex-Mex but real Mexican dishes. I love this restaurant. It is in the neighborhood of my job and we often go there for lunch. I have started going for dinner as well. Delicious food and great service...

The food here is really good as is the service. We found it by chance a few years ago and go every time we're visiting the area. You won't go wrong with this place!!!

This is one of the best Yucatecan food I’ve tried, delicious Salbutes, habanero sauce, the molcajetes, Cochinita pibil, everything i ordered was awesome, in the scale of 1 to 10 I don’t settle for less than 9.5 in my “foodometer”, well, this was a 10 and Pilar our waitress made it special, thank you!!!

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past 3 yrs. today I was disappointed. Their chillie reianios used to be fabulous. Now they just serve a chillie with some melted cheese!! Not good eats.

Went to dinner at Cheen Huaye and loved their specials - though their regular menu items are also amazing. Totally low key vibe with delicious mexican food, large portions and tasty margaritas. You likely wont need a reservation but never hurts to call ahead!

Ms. Magna assisted my friend and I as we were new to the restaurant. We were unsure about drinks and food on the menu, so she provided us with taste testing. She was very pleasant, had good energy, very respectful, and the food was prepared quick. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and option to dine outside. The food was amazzzzzzing. We enjoyed every bit of this experience from walking in the door until we left. I will defiantly recommend Cheen Huaye.

We live in this area and we have many options for eating out yet we come back to this restaurant because they’re consistent. Everything seems to be made to order and is delicious from the appetizers to the main dishes. The service is exceptional. Oscar P was our server and he’s attentive & profesional.

Great Yucatan food and service in an informal setting with parking. The margaritas are great but it is good for families as well.

I am not much of a meat eater but the way Marco marinates his meat, it is so tender and tasty, it is hard to believe. It is even tender when it is well done.

We found an excellent Mexican restaurant with Yucatecan food. It is autentic and the food very well prepared. The cochinita pibil, very tasty , served with Mexican rice, refried beans and corn tortillas. The avocado soup, fajitas can be ordered vegetarian and the rich Yucatan ceviche. Prices are moderate. We live a bit away from the site, but their excellence invite to comeback. We recommend it as very good restaurant

Well, we had high expectations reading the reviews of this restaurant, however we were greatly disappointed after we got the bill for the food we were being served and tasted . We were offered guacamole with chips as soon as we took tables and as assumed to be free ( the way the waitress offered) we went for it . But we realized that it was not free rather 12$ added to the bill at the end about which the waitress never informed us in the beginning . We felt we were deceived . Because we have been to many Mexican restaurants and we were never charged for the chips /salsa served at the beginning . And if they were charged we were informed upfront before being served . Also the food items were highly priced not sure why and the food was not at all WOW ( we didn't like the taste too )for the price they quoted . I don't think we will ever come back to this place again ..

My wife and I have been enjoying this restaurant since they opened and have never been disappointed. The fajitas, chicken enchiladas, steak burrito, and margaritas are all excellent. They cook southern Mexican style and their mole dishes are very authentic. The hostess/owner is personable and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We stumbled on this wonderful place accidentally months back and have been 6 or 7 times since. Never had bad service and the food is consistently fantastic and satisfying. Tasty margaritas, great fajitas, and have yet to have a bad night. Will be back sooner rather than later of course

Cheen Huaye is a casual, homey place with a very interesting menu. The Margaritas are huge, food portions are ample, the staff is friendly.

Family owned and delicious food! My family and I eat here about once another and ways enjoy the food. Great service too! Guacamole, salsa and sangrias are some of the known homemade and delicious items I have had! Writing about it makes me want to go eat there right now.

This was my second time at Cheen Huaye. I can honestly say the food was very fresh and the taste was excellent. The chips and salsa were outstanding. We also tried the Tamarind margaritas and they were a treat. I shared the flan and although it was good I thought it was an extremely small portion for the price they charge. I would go again for the quality of the food and the overall taste, however, I must say even though the restaurant was half empty, our group of four got very nasty looks from the servers/managers because we stayed talking after we payed and gave very generous tips at that. I could understand this if there were people waiting to be seated but not on a very slow night like this Saturday night that we went. It is on a strip mall that is kind of solitary so the view is not that great. We sat inside.

We enjoyed our lunch of salsa with chips, guacamole, Pollo a la Yucateca and Beef Quesadillas (see attached photos). Service was good. We would definitely visit again.

My wife and I have eaten at Cheen Huaye numerous times. It is upscale Mexican. The food is always top notch. The service and ambiance are very good. It is in a shopping center, but you forget as soon as you walk through the door. They have an incredible variety of tequilas. The ceviches are great, the guacamole is delicious, the main courses and desserts are fantastic. The prices are very reasonable.

Superb food and excellent friendly service. Can't wait to go back. A party was having a birthday so I just had to photo the beautiful cake.

Without a doubt, Cheen Huaye is the best Mexican Restaurant in the area, fresh food, quality ingredients, good service. The place is always clean and spotless. I highly recommend it.

The food is very good and original. The chef is from Merida and you can tell he sticks to the traditional menu. I shared the mole and the pastor tacos for entree and appetizer the cheese. Everything was delicious . The interiors of the space is casual and the price is good.

We wanted to try Mexican food for dinner with kids. We read all the reviews here, saw the high rating and went there. It was a 12 minute drive from us at Bal Harbour. Little restaurant on Biscayne Ave. We decided to sit outside. The waitress was friendly and brought us water quickly. We ordered a variety of food. Chips and guacamole was nice, we refilled three times. But the main dishes were disappointing really. This place is so highly rated, we were expecting something real good, but it was tasteless. We were hungry, but a bit surprised that it didn’t meet our expectations. Tacos I think were the best, as my son was satisfied and ate it all. The rest- beef fajita, beef enchilada and quesadilla were very ordinary, we tried better many times and much farther from Mexico than Miami.

This was my first time and an amazing experience, finding the real Yucatan cuisine in Miami was a gift. I cannot begin to describe the food, from the humble classic guacamole and artisan chips to the Molcajete Marinero (mahi, mahi, shrimp, panela cheese, avocado, green grilled onions, served with mexican rice) Mole Poblano (Breast of chicken topped with spicy mole sauce with a touch of bitter sweet chocolate) Carnitas (chunks of tender pork marinated with spices and oranges and cooked slowly). The Churros de Cajeta and Flan de la Casa were the perfect desserts. Service was outstanding.we were a party of 10 and our server Jorge, was so attentive, polite and knowledgeable, he gets all the stars from us. I definitely need to try the entire menu. so I will be going back !!

Kids and adults, we all loved the food, strongly recommend the flan for dessert! Great service, Jose was very helpful and patient. We will come back soon!

A great Mexican restaurant close to the beach! The food was incredible as well as the margaritas. They had a wide selection of margaritas made from natural juices. They had a skinny margarita, which was great but they also had a hibiscus margarita that was just as good. If you like spicy margaritas, I had one made from muddled cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeño. The boys ate enchiladas and we had carne asada. Both plates came with yellow rice and black beans. Plenty of food.

The picture shows "Tacos al Carbon de Pollo" (chicken)... Amazing food, amazing place, amazing drinks and amazing music too! ❤️❤️

It was so good we went three times in 2 weeks. The service was excellent, the margaritas were delightful and all the food was delicious. Especially the arrachera tomatillo.

We've been coming here since it opened. Now it's bigger but that hasn't affected the quality or service. The owner/chef is a really nice guy and his food is very good. Try the sangria.

You wouldn't expect to find such good Mexican food here in south Florida. Well you just did. This is the restaurant to go to and the locals know it. The food is outstanding the service is quick and they have so many tequilas to choose from! They have great specials and truly authentic mexican food. Worth driving here and absolutely ask for their special homemade hot sauce.

This Mexican restaurant serves good food, quick service and reasonable priced...located on Biscayne boulevard with easy parking on front.

Both of us ordered the chile relleno, though mine was with shrimp, while my guest’s was with steak. We both agreed that the dish was disappointing. The pepper was unusually thick and undercooked, and the beef and shrimp were lost in the cheese filling and the sauce poured all over the plate. I found the presentation unappetizing. Chips and salsa were good, as were the rice and beans. Once the dining room became half filled, the two waiters working the room seemed overwhelmed. I would not rush back.

Authentic Mexican with American sized portions so 1 or 2 courses maximum. Excellent tacos, guacamole, and margaritas served in a warm family friendly environment.

I look up best mexican food ,came out a couple of places, saw CHEEN HUAYE, and next day i was there, all perfect food delicious, very nice service and very clean place..

Everything about this place was great! First of all, it was a busy night for them but they somehow managed to fit us in. Our waiter, Jorge, promptly came over and helped us make some great food and drink choices. The food was incredible - it was nothing like your average Mexican restaurant. The dishes were inventive and perfectly done. Jorge was somehow always nearby when we needed anything. Can't wait to go back!

very tasty food, super service. unreal margarita which made by the owner. Very good atmosphere. Home made food 🌮

My family and I come here every time we come down to the Miami area. The service is attentive and friendly. The dishes are exquisite and authentic. The price is reasonable. Highly recommend this place.

This is a small quiet Mexican bistro that features Myan cuisine. The food is not generally not spicy unless requested. Most of the dishes have a unique presentation and flavoring not found in a typical cantina. The small dining area has recently added space from an adjacent vacancy, so there was no wait for a table. The room is softly lit and not noisy; the staff was attentive and friendly. Cost with beer or wine was about $25 pp.

Being Mexican I can tell you that this restaurant is amazing and really feels really close to home. Everything I've tried so far is just like real Mexican food.

We are from California and came here based on the reviews. Wasn't disappointed. Immediately welcomed and seated. Salsa is not spicy, but great taste. The give you a bottle of habanero sauce to spice thinks up for your liking. I had the Carne asada and enjoyed it. My wife had the al carbon tacos and she enjoyed them too. Refried beans and rice were good. I recommend and if I get the chance, I'll be back.

This is the best Mexican Restaurant in Miami....The food is authentic and prepared nicely. My biggest issue is the wine list. Some good California Reds would make this a number TEN on my list...

The reviews enticed us to try this place, and we were not disappointed. People working there seemed to happy to see us and gave us many recommendations, including some items off the menu. The croquettes were delicious, as was the ceviche. We weren't drinking, the but people around us looked like they were enjoying unique and fresh cocktails. Enjoyed watching the chef/owner run a staff meeting. He's the real deal.

Best Mexican food I have ever eaten! Amazing service! Very spicy hot sauce that I ate too much of but was very worth it!!!!

Had a fantastic lunch with José as my waiter! Super friendly and the food was spot on and priced fair. Excited to come back to try their extensive tequila selection... Sauld!

This is one of our family's favorite restaurants. Food is plentiful and delicious, even though it is in a strip mall it has a warm, unpretentious feel. The food is consistently good and the service is super friendly. Each one of us has a different "favorite" dish, my son's ultimate favorite is "arrachera a la campesina" (they don't even give him a menu anymore when we go). my husband loves the "arrachera steak salad", the ceviche is delicious and so are the soups. The "molcajete" is also fabulous! Cinco de Mayo there is awesome, with mariachis and people taking over the parking lot. Worth a visit!

the waitress was tops! the food was ok..... if you like spicy be sure to ask for their hot sauce which is a sure hit! nice, clean, comfortable!

Their food is so tasty. We ordered tacos, classic Mexican starter with avacado. Everything was so delicious. Staff was friendly and professional. If you like Mexican food extremely recommended.

The food could never pass as Mexican outside of a location like Miami, where there is no real Mexican food. Somewhere like the Southwest or Texas this place would be shut down within days and being laughed off the block as a joke. But whatever, Miami is Miami, the most glaring deficiency of this restaurant is the incompetent waitstaff who can’t even manage to write down a simple order. The restaurant is barely populated with any customers and the wait staff are incapable of taking even the most basic order without screwing it up. Save your money and go down the street two blocks and eat at chipotle because either way, you are not getting real Mexican food but at least you will save a lot more money that way.

Initially, this place looked like nothing special, located in a strip mall, but the food was absolutely excellent - ceviches, salads, tacos - all with subtle but distinct flavours, unlike the overpowering "Tex Mex"-type chains that seem to populate most of Florida, which seem to rely on sugar, tomato and chilli for all their flavouring. If I could make one comment, it was that the options for postres were a little disappointing, I would have liked to have seen more - but we were very pleased indeed with this place, from the tortillas, salsa and guacamole "amuse bouche" onwards, a great meal.

In restaurant review (never done this before). This place is amazing! The food was great; we ordered a guacamole, tuna ceviche, Molcajetes, and the Tacos al pastor. Everything was great and extremely authentic! We ordered the Churros for desert and can't wait to be back. In fact I'm writing this with no real urge to leave...

Very good Mexican. Different flavors that were very unique. I had cheese enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. My husband had relleno and the sauce had the southern Mexican flavor with sour orange. This flavor really filled the dish with unusual pizazz! Can't wait to return.

We started with Queso Fundido and chilli relleno with shredded chicken .Both were excellent. For our main entrees we ordered the fish tacos , a chilli relleno with shrimp and one with steak and a large asada a la yucateco. Finished our meal with chocolate ice cream. Recommend.

Absolutely amazing service and great food! The ceviche is literally an entree even though it's meant to be an appetizer. Liz was our server and she was one of the most kind & attentive servers I've ever met! If I'm ever in Miami I will be sure to make the drive back here.

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in Miami my wife and I feel.. The salsa and chips can make you embarrassed as you just can't stop eating them!! And if you like it REALLY hot, they have a pepper sauce that is very dark green in appearance, with the "sting of a scorpion" The food is prepared and presented on the plate in a VERY nice fashion. (Surprising for a restaurant in a small strip mall.) I have tried quite a few dishes there and they have ALL been wonderful. There is a lemon sauce that they use, (with chicken and fish,) that is VERY VERY tasty but must admit the one of the reasons that this review has only 4 stars is that it was a bit TOO much lemon on the chicken breast I had there yesterday. My wife doesn't eat meat, yet when we go there she orders the pulled pork from time to time. (That is not the name of the dish, rather the method of preparation, can't remember the name, but it is one of their signature dishes. They are not overly overpriced, rather the portions tend to be small so this is NOT the place to eat if you are VERY hungry... (For example the flan is no larger than the circumference of a cup of coffee,) however I GUESS that persons on a diet would not feel too guilty ordering it!! I noticed that they have Zagat dining awards lining their wall from 2008 through 2013..

Must visit when in north Miami. Southern Mexican food with some unique items. We are vegetarian so not always the easiest. Try the Tostones Rellenos (plantain appetizer); excellent!!

Cheen Huaye is a very interesting Mexican restaurant. There food is more Yucatan than traditional Mexican. Of course they have all the Mexican standbys but, their specials and on the menu Yucatan specialties set this restaurant apart from the other Mexican restaurants on Biscayne Blvd. Parking at the restaurant is wonderful and the restaurant is spotless.

We were looking for some good Mexican food in MB, read some other views and went for this place, it was so great we went 3 nights out if the 5 we were there! Great Rita's and the tuna / shrimp ceviche is the best I have ever had, enjoy!

If you have been waiting like I had been to experience that 'wait until you've had real Mexican food' moment, that moment will happen at Cheen Huaye. It blew us away. So, forget your idea of what you think Mexican food tastes like and, please, let the waiters choose your meal.

Spotted this place for Mexican cravings... great find! Margaritas were delicious and our waiter John was great. Food that feels like home :)

Very good food and good service. Portions were large and full of lots of unique flavor combinations. It was by far the best ceviche I've ever had. A little too pricey to come regularly, but it is definitely worth the expense.

Wow! What a restaurant! My family and I just had a wonderful experience at Cheen Huaye. We were warmly greeted by the owner (we only discovered this at the end) and we enjoyed some lovely starters. All of my family had different meals and everybody completed theirs and raved about it. All of us were more than satisfied and our waitress made some fab recommendations and she was a delight. If you are ever in Miami stop by this restaurant you will not be disappointed.

Horrible experience! Waiter was absent minded. Food was good but, expensive. 80 dollars for two meals is kinda expensive especially with no alcohol. They charge 5.95 for each basket of chips and the basket is the size of a saucer. There were children and I just wanted to get my food and go. I won't be back here. There are cheaper better places to go.

I've eaten at Cheen Huaye with my family many times since they opened. It is small, family run, with fantastic, authentic Yucatan food. Everything I've eaten there is good, but I especially love their chicken enchaladas (with green sauce)...they are the best! Whenever my kids are in town, that is where they want to go.

Great consistent locval place where the owners really care about their customers. The ownere is always greeting you and the fresh mexican food is always good.

I have to say that everything we tried was excellent! We had Enchiladas Verdes and Tacos... Very well prepared and full of favors. Also had margaritas (classic) were ok, not out of the world. I'd come back!!!

Probably the best Mexican food I've had in South Florida so far. The tamale appetizer was really good. My wife had the carnitas. The marinade was an interesting flavor, but the meat melted in your mouth. I had flautas. Very crispy and packed with chicken. It was a good experience overall.

Worst Mexican food I have ever try. Looking at the reviews makes me wonder if I went to the same place the other people went. My vegan dish was so sour and not tasty, the margarita was bad too and expensive. Never again. Friday night and it was empty now I know why. Go elsewhere.

This wasn't my first time here! But it is my first time since writing Yelp reviews! It was good a few years ago and it is good now! Just really amazing favors and combinations that show the sophistication of Mexican food that we don't see in the media. No Taco Bell stuff here! From the soups, to the appetizers, to the entrees, and a good selection, including seafood! Good ambience and attentive service!

Whilst the location may not be very inspiring - in a small row of shops - the food is definitely special. Eating with three colleagues, every course impressed. It was great food and outstanding value. The service from our waitress was excellent. She was friendly, charming and very efficient. In summary, this is a great choice for any visit to Miami. Well worth the journey.

I love this restaurant because the food is fresh, authentic and appropriately priced. Their service is also excellent which is unusual for Miami.

This was our second time at this restaurant. The food is excellent,as is the service .Antonio was our waiter and didn't miss a beat Restaurant is very casual .We ordered drinks and then a fondue type dish called questio fundido poblano. OMG it was delicious. For our entrees I ordered the fish tacos, they were delicious. My husband ordered the chicken fajita,my son and his wife ordered the child relleno and the ceviche vuelvealavid. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend .

This was our first time at this restaurant. We loved it.The food was amazing I had the fish tacos and there was no short of fish filling them they were delicious. We shared the queso fundido ,yum! The rest of the family had the dinner special which was the flounder ( large portion),the fajitas and the molcajete. Everybody loved their meal. Highly recommend

We happened upon Cheen Huaye today on our way from the Ancient Spanish Monastery to the Dezer Collection, and we are so glad we did! Our 8-year-old had been asking for Mexican food for a few days, and Cheen Huaye delivered above and beyond our expectations. We each had a bowl of soup (sopa de lima for me, consome de pollo for them), each of which was hot, full of flavor and really hit the spot. They have a variety of reasonably-priced lunch specials, which included the most delicious refried beans we've ever tasted. I had the tacos al pastor, my husband had tacos whose name I sadly can't remember (but they came with pickled onions), and our daughter had the flautas. Everything was delicious and fresh-tasting. Service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and feels upscale without being stuffy. We wish we had a place like this at home!

Amazing service and delicious food! Mariana is the best! We ordered the ceviche and the arrachera tacos. Awesome experience!

We eat here very often, and have always loved the food. While sitting outdoors tonight, we ordered Margaritas to start. We had to move inside because of bugs, and saw a sign on each table that stated margaritas during happy hour were $4. When our bill came, they were $9.50 each. When asked, our waiter said that when we ordered, we should have said we wanted "happy hour margaritas," not just regular margaritas. Had their been a sign on our table outside that specifically told us that, we would have said we wanted the $4 drinks, not the $9.50 drinks. They were wrong not to mention to us how to order, especially because we are such frequent customers.

Stashed in a Biscayne Boulevard strip mall in North Miami Beach, this place is NOT to be overlooked. The name of the place is Mayan for "Only Here" and it serves what is arguably the most amazing Yucatecan food in Miami. Everything is fresh and beautifully prepared and presented with excellent service. We started with the house-made corn tortillas topped with cochinita pibil, followed by deliciously marinated steak and tamales. The delicate blend of sweet, salty and savory left us gasping. There are more traditional Mexican specialties as well, but in this place Yucatecan rules!

What a rare find in the North Miami Beach area. I have not had Yucatecan food this good since the last time that I was in Merida. They had salbutes, pollo pibil , cochinita pibil, chile relleños and a host of other delicacies from that region in Mexico. We were very impressed with the food and the attentive wait staff.

We like coming here. It's fresh Mexican food. Authentic, not like the typical tex-mex. Servers are always welcoming and accommodating.

They don't scrimp on the ingredients. Freshly made, tasty and good quality. Good portion sizes. Automatically start you off with free chips and salsa, home made. Clean , warm venue located at end of a strip mall. Offer their own homemade hot sauce. Good menu, excellent prices. great, friendly and efficient service for such a venue. Overall deliver more than you'd expect for the price point. Note: They do a great lunch business so get there a little early to ensure you get a table and aren't amid their lunch rush business.

I used to visit and recommend this restaurant since I am from Yucatan and I could find some flavors from my original hometown. I have always seen this restaurant over priced, but I continued giving more chances until today that they lost me as a client. It is not about the amount I paid, but about value for the portion and presentation of the product. When I called to make sure there was no mistake in my order and to let him know about the negative difference in comparison with my previous good experience with the same meal, his answer was that what I got in my previous experience was "because I was lucky". I was not pretending to get a bigger portion, but at least the right amount for what I paid (I ordered and paid two, and I receive the portion of one).

Ive lived in San Diego for years and have had my share of delicious Mexican food, but none quite like this. Their specialties menu is what to stick to. I think i've made my way through almost every dish on that menu and they have all been so unique and wonderful, compared to what a lot of us have come to expect from a Mexican menu. You can just taste the love and time that goes in to the preparing the food and it keeps us coming back for more.

My friend recommended this place that I had not heard of before so I decided to check it out and boy am I glad I did! This place has the best Mexican food I have had in Miami. The service is great as well. The area hers tacos are exquisite! You can't go wrong.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Outstanding service. It is a little pricier then some not so authentic Mexican restaurants, but worth it if you know the difference. What a great surprise!

If you love the Mexican food this is the right place, delicious food, great Margaritas, try the coconut Margarita and the Mango Margarita, the service is great, the ambience is very nice and comfortable forget about paquitos, Rosa Mexicano or even El Santo coyote, this is the best Mexican food you can find in Miami. Absolutely recommended.

We just returned from two weeks in the Yucatan so feel qualified to rate this restaurant that specializes in food from the region. Remember this is for real -- it is not TexMex. Our starters were freshly made guacamole and the day's special ... a ceviche and guacamole salad that melted in your mouth ... it was so special that we licked the bowl with our fingers. We are great fans of chicken chocolate mole (and had it in three different restaurants while on our trip). The Cheen Huaya version was the equal to any that we have had -- another lick the plate experience. Good sangria and margaritas. Excellent service. Remember, that you are eating in a strip mall restaurant. We ignored the parking and decided to enjoy the food in the warm and humid air of FL .

Antonio was a great server!! Plus the food was sic good !!! Defiantly will try again!!!!! The flautas were amazing you should try it!

This is not your average Mexican restaurant. We were hoping for true Mayan cuisine which we had enjoyed in Mexico a few years ago and we were not disappointed. My Carne Asada a la Yucateca was perfect.... flavorful meat without a bit of gristle (I am historically very picky when it comes to meat..... it is my barometer for quality food in a restaurant......) , good rice, plaintains and veggie beans. Our guest loved his shrimp special. My sister, who is a light eater, finished her Pollo Asada. That never happens. My husband ordered Molcajete Marinero and it too was a solid winner. The sangria was outstanding as well, not too sweet and homemade. (If they bottled it, we each would all have bought it.) Yes, we paid for the chips and salsa which are often free at other restaurants but the overall prices are on a par with nicer restaurants. The owner treated us to a flan for our anniversary which was a very nice gesture. Our waiter really knew the menu and helped us make selections. Cannot wait to bring the rest of the family here.

I visit this restaurant every time I am in Miami. The food is great an service very friendly. Prices are a good value for the quality of the food. If you are in Miami and feel for Mex food visit them...

Loved the mole. I ordered a side dish of mole to go with the appetizer chips. The salsa they offer is exquisite as well. Lots of deep flavors and spices. Portion-sizes were generous enough that I had leftovers for breakfast the next day.
Wonderful
My wife and I have been here three times now and we have ordered the same thing every time. The carne asada a La Yucateca is one of the best steaks I've ever had. I would eat here a lot more often if it were a bit more affordable for us. The service and atmosphere are great as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
