Eat the burger of your choice with tater tots and wash it down with a well made milkshake. Salads, burger alternatives and a kids menu available. Great old fashioned style diner/shake shack.

Awesome burgers and milkshakes!!! Service was fast, friendly and top notch overall! Everything was fresh and made to order! Would definitely visit again!

This place offers a wide variety of food, from good ole burgers to sweet potatoe fries to taco salad to frito pie to grilled chicken. The service is impressive, we went at lunch when it was busy, advised our waitress we had to be in and out, and she made it happen. The food was tasty, she took special orders, and the portions were large. No complaints, Parking is limited, can be a little wait to be seated during high volume times, bathroom is clean, and service is great.

Small place but efficient. Excellent burgers, specialty fries and shakes made to order. Attentive staff. Our server was friendly, efficient and quick. He rocked customer service!!!

Great place to go solo, have a shake or a malt and any burger is great! A must eat in San Antonio. They have a few beer options and wine. Prices are good

We picked this place based on a few hasty reviews for lunch in Alamo Heights. Great choice! The building, a repurposed gas station, has a great atmosphere. The malts are GREAT! The food is 50's diner type food, but they include several menu items outside the burgers/fries offerings for vegetarians and diet conscious folks. Several people there had children, and it is indeed a kid-friendly place. Enjoyed it very much!

San Antonio has a number of good burger joint however at Cheesy Jane's, what you see is what you get. The classic burger joint atmosphere with old fashioned diner decorations is a great place to eat a great burger & fries along with an fantastic chocolate shake(which is not easy to find nowadays). The friendly server make for a nice experience and we would definitely go back.

The food and milkshakes were all good, but a little pricey for what you get. There were too many other burger places that were cheaper, that a return visit just was not in the cards.

Once again, Captain Cheapo took the family to a place where kids eat free... and we will return to this one. Crazy time warp of a place that has a model train running overhead. Service was really good, even tho the place was overrun with "locals" who just walked in and the servers asked if they wanted the usual. Great burgers and super great hamburger steak... stop by here and have a really good burger, tots, shake and everything else!

Looking for a great burger?! This is it! Great service! Great place and family environment. Also have world famous shakes. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious food! Two of us had the Baby Jane Sampler. Another had the Wurst burger, and another had the Jammin' Jane burger. All came with fries or onion rings. We also had shakes of various flavors, mine being Amaretto. Everything was excellent. Plenty of parking on the side street to the right of the restaurant as you are facing it, and plenty of tables and booths inside, or you can even sit on an old fashioned barstool reminiscent of a 50's diner. So glad we found it. We will be back again!

I went here because my daughter had a free meal coupon. My Grilled Chicken sandwich, with no sides was over $5.00. It was so bland and boring too. They may have good other items, like shakes. But my daughter's cheeseburger was nothing much either. Too much hype, you'd be better off going somewhere else that isn't a chain restaurant.

Good burgers, I was so full. Yummy fries, good service! I Was TO Full TO Try THE shakes, But They Look Delicious, At 4.79each, A Little pricey, But EVERy thing Is Now adays.

Service was great. Good old fashion burger with fries. The milk shake was homemade right in front of us as we choose to eat at the counter. The staff was terrific. Great place for the family to eat.

I work in the AT&T building across the street from Cheesy Janes and have been a regular for about five years. The milkshakes are amazing and the food is decent but that's where it stops. Two co workers and myself decided to go here for lunch earlier today (03/09/13) around 11:15 am and were treated with the worse customer service ever. I'm 6"4ft tall so we decided to sit in the corner booth but a hispanic gentleman whom I never got a name informed us we couldn't sit there because it was for a party yet we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived!! The table was not reserved and there wasn't a customer in sight! The man told us "incase a party arrives". The waiter was too busy thinking about the next customer he never took time to properly take care of the long time customers he already had present! So I sat there uncomfortably with my two other friends alone in the restaurant until after we finished eating four people walked in who he happily sat in the corner booth. So basically if we had one more person we could have sat there disregarding my height! The hispanic gentleman was very rude, avoided us, and made it very apparent he didn't care if long time customers we comfortable or not. Keep in mind the booth is only really big enough for 4 adults on a good day without being shoulder to shoulder so asking to sit there with only having 3 people wasn't asking too much! I informed the manager who said he would talk to him but at this point it's too late. His poor service lost a 5 year customer! Next time I hope he learns the age old golden rule to put the customer first!

We pulled into Cheesy Jane's and as we entered I wondered if we should stay. It looked old and dated. Our order was served piping hot, the service was great. I had an old-fashioned chili burger and fries. My wife was more conservative with a traditional burger. The food was great. With so many good burger places in San Antonio I feel like this will not be one I would bring guests. But, I would grab a quick bite there anytime else.

Hello, my family and I went to the Bandera Road Cheesy Jane's this afternoon for lunch. We ordered burgers, fries, drinks and had milk shakes. Our meal came to $77.00 including tip !!! That seems a little pricey to us. For starters, on the menu, it indicaes that you can order the 1/2 burger and that your order will come with small fries. We were charged extra for the fries. I asked if I could substitute my fries for the sweet potato fries, and was brought an entire basket of fries and charged full price $2.99 for them. Also, our kids ordered the fruit cup, which ended up being a "lunch-box" style fruit cup of canned fruit, individual serving style with plastic wrapp on the top. Not to mention the fact that the food came in plastic baskets with plastic drink glasses and the kids cups were not even the kid you can keep, but disposable. We are not looking for much, just recognition that the menu was misleading, the quality of serving dishes does not represent the cost, and the best interest of the customer is not exactly top priority. We were expecting about a $50 bill, definitely NOT $67, then to pay tip on top of that. This is a burger joint. We paid the same that we would have paid if we went to Joe's Crab Shack or Outback Steakhouse. Ridiculous.

On old timers place. 50s-60s music. Nice atmosphere. The service was quick. The food tasty and hot. My grandkids liked the train. I thought the prices were moderate. I will eat here again.

I really enjoyed the hamburger and tots I had. It was exactly what we were looking for. They also have good onion rings. The service was also real good. I loved it and will go back next time I visit San Antonio.

Always good, now best burger in the area since Billy T's closed. Good wings, great shakes w/real hand-dipped ice cream.

So, me and the Mrs had a day trip for supplies into SA, and hunger approached. As we were in the Alamo Heights area, we opted for Cheesy Janes, the winner of the SA Business Journal Burger Wars. My, my, what a disappointment. If what we got was representative of what they put forth to judges, shame on the judges. Edible but bland burger meat, not seasoned, over-dressed with chopped fixins, though the cheddar cheese was good. Better fare at prior winners who will remain unnamed.

Burger tasted good. Still some room for improvement but overall good. Restaurant service was quick. Burger tasted like other comparable burger joints but nothing to distinguish it above.

We happened upon Cheesy Jane's on our way to the Botanical Garden. Honestly, we were not sure about going in since the outside of the building is painted garish yellow and looks a little questionable. Some locals going in encouraged us to take a chance and it was the best meal we had in San Antonio! The burgers are amazing as are the fries, onion rings, shakes and malts. The service was terrific, the food is served promptly, hot and delicious. GO THERE!

Anytime we are in San Antonio we come here to eat. It has been a couple of years but it is still fantastic! The restaurant is family friendly - the kids meals are varied and kid pleasing. The Southwest turkey burger is very good. The chili cheese tater tots were loved by all! The milkshakes are wonderful and they are very accommodating - they'll put a milkshake in multiple cups for kids (a big milkshake is too much for one child). We have eaten here twice in the last week - never disappoints!

I had the comal Burger during San Antonio Burger week. The Burger itself was a bit too small for my liking. I order The Onion rings instead of fies and found them to be very good. I like the diner atmosphere but the burger was just Ok

Our family of four ate here for dinner after reading the reviews on trip advisor. The food is delicious. We had a kid's meal and three adult meals plus two milkshakes for $50. My daughter and I had bacon cheeseburgers and my husband had the southwest burger. All were wonderful. My young son loved his kid's meal too (a cheeseburger). My daughter ordered the tater tots but after trying our fries, which the rest of us ordered, she wished she had ordered the fries. She liked the tots but thought the fries were better. This is a great place for families too. The parking lot seems really small, but actually they have a huge parking lot to the right of the restaurant if you go up the road next to it. If you like a good hamburger, this is the place!

I've driven out this place hundreds of times and a friend recommended it, so I took my kids there after going to the Witte Museum. It was fine, but not not worth a return visit. The vibe is somewhere between hole-in-the-wall and throwback 50's malt shop. They have some promising sounding burgers on the menu with some good ingredients. But my Southwest burger was dry and very bland (even with green chiles, which I love). Fries were fine. The kids liked their shakes. Decent place to take your kids for a burger and shake, but don't expect anything great.

The burgers are really good. They cook them to order just as you would like them. Get the tasty tater tots instead of the fries. I have had one of their milkshakes in the past, and they are terrific! They do fresh shakes and malts. They have a lot of flavors. They also do cherry and vanilla cokes. Service is fast. It is a sit down restaurant, so much nicer than ordering at the counter. Kids will like the shakes and cheery colorful decor including a train going overhead. Prices are great!

I think the food is run of the mill, but the location is convenient to many museums, parks, and Ft Sam Houston. The milkshakes are worth the calories!

IF you want an AMAZING BURGER, good service, family friendly prices, and a full belly. YOU MUST EAT HERE. While on vacation, we stopped here twice first night in town after reading reviews and the last day on vacation. You must have the onion rings they are fantastic. the first night I got a 1/2lb cheeseburger and that was a bit too much for me believe it or not. The second time I got the 1/3Lb and was okay. The kids eat a good kids meal as well and didn't ask for anything after we left as we were stuffed. They have a train on the ceiling that runs, its not a fancy place, its by the college campus but its decent inside and the service is fantastic. Would highly recommend. Oh I can't forget to mention the veggies were fresh and the meat was fantastic.

Friendly staff and great service overall. All you can eat Tacos Tuesday was the bait. Came back on Friday for their amazing burgers. Sweet potato fries are on point not to mention the milkshakes.

The shakes were good, but for the small size we got I would have expected a much smaller bill. The wait time was a little long also. But I would go again. Decent atmosphere and really nice workers.

Love the burgers and tots. Great milkshake and love the train on the ceiling. Great place for the family and great food.

Cheesy Jane's is a favorite because it's close to my office and my colleagues and I can walk there. I had a grilled chicken salad the last time I was there. It was very tasty. My co-worker had a burger and he enjoyed it too.

Received food fast. The people and service were great. Milkshakes were awesome. Definitely recommend as a place to visit.

On our first full day in San Antonio, my wife went to the spa for a pedicure and asked some of the ladies working there for fun, "unusual" place where a lot of locals enjoy eating. After she informed them that her husband wasn't really into Mexican food and would really just like a big, juicy burger, the answer was immedaite: Cheesy Jane's. From the outside, some people might be intimidated. Heck, from the INSIDE they might be intimidated! Let's just come right out and say it: The place looks like (and probably is) an old 1960's gas station. The type of place that people who grew up in the South back then would have called a "fillin' station" or a "service station." The floor is brown concrete (old gas station brown concrete, not new Wal-Mart Supercenter brown concrete), 1950's-style dinette furniture and booths (with metallic red cushions) crowd the dining room, cool "Americana" art (paintings of food products, etc.) adorn the walls, an electric train runs on tracks suspended from the ceiling, and the hall leading to the back entrance is covered - literally covered (from ceiling to floor) with Polaroid photos of EVERYONE able to fully consume the Cheesy Jane One-Pound Hamburger (each person apparently writes their own caption). For those of us who enjoy this type of food, the place is really good. The burgers appear to be quick-seared (sort of like Steak'n'Shake, but thicker), and the fries are the large shoe-string variety (not too crisp, and not too greasey). The shakes are excellent, but not so rich that they are over-filling (it's obvious they use milk, not half-and-half as some places now do). There are a lot of chain restaurants who do this "1950's Diner" restaurant genre (Steak'n'Shake, Sonic, etc.), and generally, their presentation is a good deal more polished than Cheesy Jane's. But this place has real character - it's the real deal - the food is good, and the value for the money is not bad at all. For a nostalgia-loving car guy like me, you just can't top lunch in an old gas station with oldies blarring in the background and a train running overhead. My vegitarian wife even liked it, too.

We visited Cheesy Jane's before attending the SA Rodeo yesterday, and the food was very good. We ordered three burgers; all very good and flavorful. These are comparable to homemade burgers. My wife ordered the nachos; they lacked flavor; something was missing. The server was very courteous and friendly; she made sure that we were taken care of completely. In fact, the other servers were great too, they even stopped and refilled our drinks. After eating our food, we ordered shakes; they were amazing! We have been to the Cheesy Jane's at 1604 and 281 and we enjoyed it; that location has since closed, and I don't know why? This particular restaurant is consistent with the other location; again the food is very good. The only recommendation I would make is to make the nachos more flavorful; the beans are good but again, they lacked flavor. My family and I will be back, and I recommend you try them, no doubt you will enjoy the food, and order the malts or shakes, you will love them! Phone: (210) 826-0800. I had a recommendation for this burger place and the golf course. The were 100% correct. The burger is cooked to perfection taste excellent and quick service great atmosphere. Just here visiting but will come back again with the wife for sure. Cheesy Janes is the place to stop if your looking for a great meal and a great price. Couldn’t help but eat at least half of the delicious burger before taking a photo

While visiting San Antonio, our friends had seen Cheesy Jane's in a magazine. None of us knew anything about it, but decided to go there since we were in the mood for a hamburger. We had 1 regular burger, 1 Cheesy Jane's cheeseburger (comes with fries), and 1 chili burger. They cost no more than places like Red Robin, Chili's etc., We also each ordered a milkshake (around 15 flavors)...thick, yummy and they give you the container with the extra milkshake in it. The equivalent of 1 1/2 milkshakes...$3.95. Our food was delivered promptly and correctly. While eating, our waitress came by several times to see if everything was okay, and the owner stopped by our table a couple of times too. The whole atmosphere was very friendly, with an old fashioned diner look. They have 3 locations in San Antonio, and are not a chain. We will absolutely come back the next time we are in San Antonio...I can't find anything negative to say about Cheesy Jane's.

I'm from the North and you can't find Frito pie on any menu, so I was thrilled to be able to order it at Cheesy Jane's. It was excellent and enough for 2 people, so I had enough left for dinner the next day. Went their for lunch with my nephew and his wife and the prices were were very reasonable. Only downside is that the booths were very tight. We had a baby in a carrier with us, so not much room.

Read some reviews and saw it as recommended, so we thought we would give the burgers and shakes a try. They were not just good, but AWESOME! The service was quick and friendly, and the food was really really good! Don't drive out of your way 30 miles to get here, but if you are in the vicinity and you like burgers and shakes, this place is the BOMB!

Passed this location several times and always wanted to stop and I finally got the chance. It's tough to get parking outside...I had to park across the street. The food was very good.

Good burgers and shakes.. a bit pricey.

We came in on St Paddy's day. It wasn't super busy. It felt like you almost stepped back in time from the look of the resturant to the music they played. We were seated and waited on quick. I had the triple cheese sandwich with tater tots and the hubby had the classic cheeseburger and fries. Both dishes were tasty. I got grilled onions on my grilled cheese sandwich. Very good addition. We got two small chocolate shakes to go. The whole meal cost $30 all together. Our server Erich tool great care of us. Would definatly recommend

not the best burger but obviously it has a following, not sure why because there is nothing that makes Cheesy Jane's stand out when you have Chris Madrids or Cappycinos nearby for great burgers...

So good and great service. Guy up front was super nice and friendly. Food truck was on the Riverwalk and very convenient. Quick service, great burger and tots!

Went here after a day of geocaching, the burgers were tasty and the fries were good too. The service was professional and the place was clean. What more can you ask for in a burger joint?

This place is so fun and happy and have a burger with everything. Ask for the tots... It feels that you are back in time to the 50's. The burgers are so good that they melt in your mouth with love. If you add bacon it is good. Also try the shake at the end. Very fresh especially if the day is hot like today. I strongly recommend this place to everyone.

My husband and I took our two young sons to Cheesy Jane's and LOVED it! It's a 50's-diner-type feel with yummy shakes big enough to share and delicious burgers! I had the Southwest Burger (minus the bun), and it was just the right amount of spicy. One thing I really appreciated: They have a "Kids' Club" in which they will snail-mail a free meal coupon to each child for special occasions and holidays--like Back to School, Thanksgiving, and their birthdays.

This was my second visit. It is located in what appears to be an old service station close to The Witte Museum. The cafe is a burger, fries, tater totes and shakes kinda place. Although, there were salads, chicken sandwiches and such on the menu as well. Our server was very friendly, everything looked very clean. The decor is cute with a small model train running around a track near the ceiling. My family and I had burgers, tots and shakes which were all great. They have many shake flavors! They even had a gluten free bun for me which was appreciated ! There was some issue with my son's order and it had to be remade and took an extra 10 min or so. But they kept us informed about it and gave him an extra generous serving of tots! I would recommend this cafe.

My son and I come here often for lunch, since it's close to our offices. The food and staff is always very good. However, the parking is somewhat challenging, so most of the time, we walk over....a nice stroll to and from lunch.

there was not one thing that ever impressed us about Cheesy Jane's. The food is pretty average and arrived cold, we used to go there more often when the kids were little as it is very kid friendly, but no more!

This is a great little burger and shake place with more than just burgers. The salads and grilled chicken is delicious as well. Located in a revamped old service station, the place has a lot of charm. There is even a model train running above your head. Weekday lunch time is crowded, so arrive early if you don't want to wait.

Stopped in after a visit to the zoo - delicious burgers and onion rings, cute retro style. Service was friendly and quick. Milkshakes to go were also really good. Will return on next trip to SA.

Fun place to take the kids for an easy burger. Lots of good choices. Service was average. Milkshakes were good!

Had a great gal service us at Cheesy Janes - Miss Jada, who really was so nice. This burger joint is right across from the Witte Museum!! Food is super good - their speciality milkshakes are a PLUSSS!! Best burger and fries I've had in a good long time. Classic vintage decor with kids especially in mind - this place is just a great place - simple - smart - delicious. The outdoor decor (once a old gas station? does not do the food & fun much justice. Go in !! A family - especially kids - lots of them were really into the food.

I had the El Jefe. Wow! Awesome combination of flavors. My wife had the Southwest turkey burger. She and I kept arguing over whose burger was better. Then, we split some onion rings. I suggest skipping the ketchup, as it would just distract from the delicious batter.

This is a nice restaurant, great staff, friendly, efficient--ideal kid-friendly. But the food, I had a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings and a chocolate shake, was dreadful. The shake was weak--there was chocolate sauce somewhere there because it was brown, but you couldn't taste chocolate. The hamburger was tasteless. . It might have had filler that made it taste more like beef flavored cardboard. The onion rings were probably cooked earlier in the day and rewarmed! Please raise your prices and buy higher quality food

The bean burger is great! Be sure to get an order of the splinters. My wife really likes their tater tots. This is definitely one of the best burger places in town!

My husband and I took our two year old here for lunch before visiting the Witte Museum. The place resembles an old school diner. The staff was friendly, service was great, and food was good! Definitely get a shake!

It's like you walk back into the fifties. The burgers were juicy, and the sweet potatoes fries were tasty as well. My son ate the bean burger, and he said it was delicious. Staff was friendly and professional. I will be returning to try the bean burger next time. Thanks for the friendly service.

I went with my family a few weeks ago and we greatly enjoy the burgers. They were juicy, full of flavor and the different ones on the menu were nice. I got the Porky Burger and it was great!! You can also custom your own burger and they even have shakes. The restaurant is small but has a cozy feel and the staff are very friendly. I would return back if I'm in the area.

We ate here on a weeknight with our three young children and it was great! The food was great, tater tots - milkshakes - and the mini sampler burgers were awesome! The service was great, very accommodating and friendly! The prices were great and the atmosphere was perfect for a family.

Found this little 50s style diner when we got lost. Doesn’t look like much outside, bit has a great 50s style diner. We ordered a shake, malt and coke float. All were rich and great. They are a variety of burger and other options. We will come back.

After our visit to the Do Seum, the kids were hungry and we wanted to go to a unique place. Cheesy Janes is just down the street and the kids loved it! The burgers were really good and they have a lot of different shakes! The kids each had to have one! Recommend for a very local flavor!

I've eaten at Cheesy Jane's twice and both times from their food truck. This review is for the truck and not the specific location of the restaurant. I like Cheesy Jane's because the food is good and it is served hot. Both times the food was made to order and we received the fries or tater tots write out of the fryer. Yes I said, tater tots, an unusual items but very enjoyable as it offers a different flavor than fries. The burger was good and we seem to often gravitate to the easily comparable menu item.

Wow! What can I say? The burgers are to die for...especially when combined with a good old fashioned Shake! Love this place!

Two of us went to try Cheesy Jane's as it was well rated by multiple groups. The parking is across a side street. When you turn off Broadway, the restaurant is on the left, parking on the right. There are perhaps only 5 parking spaces on the restaurant side. It was around noon on a Thursday. We did not have to wait for a table, but there was a short line most of the time we were there. The burgers were OK. We had one 1/3 lb burger and 2 sliders. One with fries, the other with onion rings. None of the food servings was large. Two shakes, one a strawberry malt, the other a Chocolate Espresso shake. Both shakes were excellent. The strawberry malt was perfect. They have something like 25 different flavors. The shake servings were large. It filled an old style soda fountain conical glass with a scalloped edge on top. The rest was in the big metal container the size of a big iced tea glass, in which the shake had been blended. Service was excellent. We received our food quickly. The burgers, shakes, rings, fries, and two glasses of water was $26.46. A bit expensive but worth it. Next time I go I will try to find a way to get the burger juicier.

Best Onion Rings in Town. Love the Turkey Burger husband and kids always go for big juicy burgers. Family Friendly and fast service. Only negative is parking which is limited

This place is like a throw back to what you'd imagine a burger joint to be in the 50's -everything from the decor and atmosphere to the menu and food. The burgers are great. We came after a visit at the zoo. My wife and I both had a "Cheesy Jane," a 1/2 pound burger with double cheddar and small fries for $8.79. We had the 4 kids with us. They were a little noisy, but we didn't feel like we were too out of place. The burgers were incredible. We keep talking about going back now. They have a 3/4 and a 1 lb. too, but we were plenty full with the 1/2 lb. The tater tots were probably the best I've ever had anywhere, hands down. The fries were good, big, thick fries. There were plenty of options for the kids. I tried some of their nachos. I think the beans are homemade, so I felt like they were quality - just make sure you get salsa or ranch with them. The chicken fingers were good too slightly above standard. The staff was friendly and very attentive. We finished off the meal with shakes - shared a double chocolate and a peanut butter chocolate among all of us. The DC was good, but the PBC was fantastic.

If you are wanting a burger- any type; you should go to Cheesy Janes. I have gotten the "Cheesy Jane" plus the chalupas and southwest chicken burger. Not greasy at all and very well priced.

Great children's place

The burgers there are fabuolus. Sandwhich and ingredients are fresh and well put together. Great lunchtime hangout.

I've always ordered the Cheesy Jane burger, but a friend recommended the chalupas! They were great!! Also, their milk shakes are delicious. Get a large and split it.

I have gone here for about ten years or more to the original location on Broadway, it is my favorite burger in San Antonio. Price is great, customer service is awesome. Fries are golden not greasy, and neither is the burger, it's juicy good.

Normally, a friend and I will go to another restaurant nearby for a good burger. Because the wait at the other restaurant was 40 minutes we decided to travel a little bit in the neighborhood. We decided to give this place a whirl. The menu isn't comprehensive, but it doesn't need to be if what's included is done well. The space is a little nostalgic, and small but tastefully decorated. I ordered the porky burger (minus the bacon) with cheesy chili fries. I have to say, I was pleasantly impresses with how soft the bun was, the size of the burger, and how well made it was. I'm kind of a burger snob, so it takes a lot to impress my taste buds and this burger did the trick. My friend and I were a bit taken aback by how tasty the meal was. Again, it was nothing over the top, but just made very well. We ended the meal with a couple of malt shakes, brought back memories of me as a little girl with my grandparents. All together, a great experience at a good price. Will definitely be back.

Admittedly not a big beef eater, I recognize and really enjoy an occasional burger if it is really good. Cheesy Jane's serves really good food. It was busy when we went but the service didn't slow down a bit. Friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices. I won't become a big-time beef eater, but when I need an occasional fix at least I know where to go.

This is my grandson's (6) favorite place. Really good burgers, fries, etc....and NOT MCDONALD'S.....good homemade type burgers, malts, and so on....with kiddos you can't go wrong here!

My wife and I ate at Cheesy Jane's last week. The service is friendly and efficient. The burgers are very good and reasonably priced. We got a 3/4 pound cheeseburger and had them split it. They have wine and beer available. The place has a 1950's feel. It is very casual. They are famous for their milk shakes and were voted number one for shakes! The chicken sandwiches are also quite good as are the fries and onion rings. Give Cheesy Jane's a try.

Maybe the best burgers in San Antonio, but I’m still researching. Nice to have lots of options for types of cheese, etc. Sweet potato fries are fabulous and regular fries are decent. Their award-winning milkshakes are the stuff of dreams. You get them served just like at that old drugstore fountain, in a dessert glass with a little extra in the mixer cup on the side. A teaspoon helps you scoop the last best bits of Oreo or 🍓 or whatever you requested. My date was pleased with the balance of strawberries and bananas in his strawberry banana shake. The extra strawberry bits were fresh-frozen, not canned. And we had watched our excellent waitress make our shakes, too. Atmosphere is diner-style fun with good music. Bring the kids. Bring your friends!

I had read a great newspaper restaurant review on Cheesy Janes and decided to try it out for lunch with a friend. I am glad I did!! Small yellow looking building was not much to look at, but their ample free parking lot was big just across the street. Inside the place had a nice casual 50’s feel and a host at door seated us promptly in a nice booth. Our waitress, Crystal, greeted us with a big smile and pointed out some of their best selling menu items. We both selected the Cheesy Jane double cheddar with added bacon. I got the tater tots and friend got fries. Priced around the $8 or $9 range. The service was pretty fast and the burgers were cooked as requested “medium”. The buns were warm and the burger so juicy, it still is making my mouth water. The two slices of bacon were thick and crispy. Just the added touch to this excellent burger. My tator tots were great. Hot and crisp and not greasy. One of the best burger lunches I have had. Our waitress, Crystal, brought us our check and asked if we needed “to go” containers for food and brought us to go refill drinks! She was very pleasant and helpful to close out our visit. I will definitely go back and bring more friends to Cheesy Janes!!

Found the mobile truck in front of the courthouse downtown. Had a vanilla malt-fantabulous! Ordered to go with unsalted fries was soooo good and fresh made. Totally recommend it and enjoy sitting in the park and enjoying views of the Cathedral and iconic courthouse.

This was my first time here! I had no idea what to get so i ordered a baby janes sampler and it was the best thing! I loved the porky and bean burgers! The employees are so friendly and the service is amazing! I cant wait to go back!

When ever I've gone with my dad and family etc, I like it, I liked the fries and that they use cheddar on the burgers, I don't like american cheese, or rather that cheddars an option on your burger..

Had lunch here with my right year old daughter. Our fries were great, our burgers were delicious, but more importantly the service was outstanding... Grest job guys!

Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday. I had a "1/3 # Deluxe Burger" w/Swiss cheese. Burger was small, overcooked, dry and flavorless with a thin (see-thru) slice of cold unmelted Swiss processed cheese. Made me sad. Ordered another 1/3# Burger with provolone to take my daughter. Again meat was small, this time undercooked (ordered med well). Cheese not melted. She took about two bites and trashed it even though she was very hungry. Side of tots were many, but soggy. Wife's Frito Pie was pretty good, thanks mostly to the lettuce, tomatoes and jalapeños. Bottom line: 2 small burgers, side of tots, and a frito pie, 2 Iced Teas = $33 plus tip. Too Expensive for quantity and quality of food. NO MORE CHEESY JANE FOR US!!

We came with young kids who liked the train and the overall diner feel. The food wasn't spectacular, but the prices were fair.

Probably the best burger/fries/onion rings I’ve ever eaten. Flew into town and stopped here by recommendation. I WISH I was here longer, I’d be here everyday. Started the meal off with a chocolate peanut butter shake. Delicious. Then the meal arrived and I could have made a meal of just the onion rings! SO very impressed with this place.

First timers to Cheesy Jane's over the weekend. BUSY even though we went at an off-peak period. STILL got exceptional service and eats. The onion rings were something extra special. The batter is tempura style, light & super well seasoned. We did 1/3 lb. burgers and had all we can handle---so you may want to start there. We. Will. Be. Back.

The burgers are to die for....pure beef hamburger patties , hand made and grilled for the medium rare pallet. The Cheddar has real Cheddar melted on, while the Swiss, Mushroom has it's own great flavor...they are thick and juicy. Tator Tots are offered with all burgers. Milk shakes are thick and flavorful. Kids love it!!! A multi-generational hangout for great Family Meals, the Ol' Fashion Way!!!

My friend and I stopped here for a quick dinner and it was great! Our waitress was fantastic. The food was good. They offer typical diner food. We both had burgers and loved them!

A fun place for burgers and shakes. So many shakes to choose from including the low-fat variety.

if you can't make it to Cheesy Jane's restaurant .. don't worry. Their food truck menu is extensive AND food is just as yummy as in the restaurant.

I love Cheesy Janes' for a splurge of cheeseburger, fries, and a shake. Just like we used to get in the 60's.

Nice and clean inside with personable staff. Loud music playing. My husband enjoyed his regular cheeseburger and tater tots and a small order of onion rings. My grilled chicken sandwich was ok, but slid off bread and that was without mayonnaise. Fries were ok. Ice tea was good and strong and lime slices my favorite instead of lemon.

Converted gas station serves really good hamburgers. Very casual and not too large. Next time will try their milk shakes with homemade ice cream.

The burgers are nice and juicey!! The milkshakes are to die for,Super Yummy!!! And my son loves watching the train set that is on the ceiling.

In San Antonio to visit son at Army Base, Fort Sam Houston. One of his friends who lives in San Antonio recommended we try Cheesy Jane's. We agree it was an excellent choice. We had three really great cheeseburgers, milkshakes, fries, and gaucamole&chips. Staff super friendly, really good food, and not too expensive. I think it was about 10-15 minutes from base. A great local restaurant experience.

I thought it was reasonably priced. $7.69 for a 1/2 POUND Cheese burger with tons of fixings and a delicious BUN!! It was another $1.50 for onion rings that were out of this world! The fries were about the same price. I got the southwest burger and it was FULL of flavor.

We had burgers, one hot dog, and one kids meal corndog. Nothing fancy, but everything came out hot, fresh, and fast. The burger was juicy and flavorful. The corndog looked homemade and not over cornbready, the hotdog was huge and served on a fresh, slightly crusty, not your ordinary bun. The milkshakes were GREAT. And all this for a really good price.

CJ's is modeled after the old time malt shops of the 60's. Made to order burgers, fries, onion rings, malts and shakes, with grilled chicken and salad options. Higher quality food and priced accordingly, but reasonable. A good place to get your burger fix if you've out-grown the fast food chains. A nice char on the burger, juicy, fresh toppings, served hot off the grill. The hand-made malts and shakes are a bit pricey, so I don't get those, but of course my kids do. No frills decor, with a toy train track mounted from the ceiling to entertain the kids. Broadway location is small, so it can get crowded during lunch. Service is friendly and efficient, though sometimes borders on "too friendly" when the server calls you "buddy" or "chief" or "boss." Ummm, I'm none of those so just be polite and I'm good. Never had a bad meal at CJ's and would put them in my list of the best burgers in San Antonio.

So cheesy. So tasty. A true diner experience. Amazing milkshakes! Great decor and service. My only reason for rating five stars is that they could really clean the place a lot better. Floors and most other non-eating surfaces such as the vinyl booth benches have visible layers of filth and grime.

Ate here with friends and it was pretty good. The burgers are good and the portions are good size. The service was good and prices were average. The jalapeño splinters are to die for! I will return!

Hamburgers not like they use to be had a green chili burger with there weird sauce it was nasty. Very weird flavor very expensive $16 for a burger come on ,manager was not friendly stay away

Cheesy Jane's is the best burger restaurant. It also offers shakes and malts! Yes, restaurant! Table service is provided. Obviously burgers are the speciality. Not a greasy joint. A vegetarian, Boca burger, was delicious. My wife ordered sliders. Burgers are substantial. We definitely will return.

This may not look like much from the outside, but it is definitely worth trying. Plan on going early for lunch or dinner as it fills up. This is truly a popular place for the locals. There are all sorts of folks there to enjoy the food, families, professionals, blue collar workers, and just plain folks. The burgers are great. Sit back and take in the atmosphere and watch the scale model train circle overhead as you wait for you meal to be prepared. There is more than enough to fill you up. After eating one of the great burgers be sure to order one of the big shakes as a dessert and share. There are several traditional burgers as well as several that are specialities of the house. Try the porky or the wurst for a change of pace from your usual burger choice. Then there are the large hot dogs, tuna melt sandwiches, and of course nachos, Frito pie, and more. If you are bored with your usual burger place then this is the place to try.

This interesting-looking diner is a fun place for a family meal. The inside is what you'd expect from a simple diner, with some fun twists like a running model train circling above you. The food was excellent! We had chicken burgers, corn dog, and chicken strips and all were enjoyed as were the onion rings, fries, and tots - I recommend you try them all as we did. We particularly loved the chicken burgers. They had to be the juiciest chicken I've ever had. Service was very friendly, food came out fast, and overall was a great experience. Only negative was my wife said the restaurant had a funny smell. Didn't bother me though.
Yummy!
My boyfriend and I went to Cheesy Jane's last night and we got the Southwest burger. Highly recommend this burger! It had green chilis, pepper jack cheese and a yummy spicy mayo. We also got tater tots and shakes. OMG the shakes are to die for!!! The service was spot on and we really enjoyed ourselves. They also have food trucks, so we will be looking for those too!
