Hidden gem in MIA

By Lance M |

In Miami's typical barren wasteland of food options -- second only to it's neighbor up north (FLL)...Chef Creole Cafe really pops! Literally having juuuuuust got off the plane from Jamaica; recently had THE BEST food you can get...this wasn't far off. Cool staff...clean...and service with a smile. The people who used to live at MIA seven to ten years back...must be sad they missed this spot đź’Ż

I am a person that likes trying local cuisine. Chef Creole was recommended to us and boy it did not disappoint!! I am extremely impressed with the offerings and the quality of the food. I could tell that it was good as there were many locals in line for the food. We especially enjoyed the conch fritters!!! Would recommend anyone try them if in the Miami area

There was a line waiting to be served so we thought it must be good so joined in. We were not disappointed. Happy friendly service.

Great Creole food at MIA!

Lunch options in MIA Councours D aren't brilliant, so this was a great find! Delicious Creole food, with some meat dishes pre-prepared and ready to serve. Fish and prawn dishes cooked to order. All dishes served with a choice of rice n beans, plantains and veg such as collard greens and corn. Nice spicy dressing available. Definitely a great lunch option in Concours D.

Nice surprise

This restaurant offers 'modular' menus, consisting of white rice or beans, a protein (we tried Jambalaya and pork ribs) and two side dishes of your choice. The place is very spartan, with very few seats. But the food is really good, with quality raw materials and well cooked. Keep in mind that Creole cuisine is very tasty and tends to be spicy.

Airport food can often be bland, overly oily / unhealthy and overpriced….but not this place!

We overnighted at the airport hotel and was pleased to spot this Creole food restaurant on our walk to the room. It was past 9pm but it was one of the few places still open. The food was delicious! They sell a mix of American Cajun / Caribbean Creole and it did not disappoint! The fried plantain was sweet and just like my mom does it! The stew chicken was finger-licking good, and they gave us such a generous portion of rice & beans that we decided on one box of food instead of two which was more than adequate for us to share! And, I loved the free tubs of hot sauce provided at the till! It ended up being a good value meal as the box of food (for 2 of us), a drink and a slice of cake was under $20. This is so much better than having airport pizza or sandwiches! We’re making a beeline for Chef Creole next time we’re transiting through Miami airport!

Missing Haitian Hospitality

Not sure if it was just a bad day, but I was in line to order here and the woman working was unbelievably rude to a group of people who couldn't speak English. I offered to translate to help and she snapped back and said, "it's not my job to learn their language". I was so turned off, I left. The food looked good enough (I've lived in Haiti for 8+ years, looked authentic, etc.) but I didn't stay long enough to try it.

Delicious food

Sit in a thatched hut and eat like you’re in the Caribbean

Had never tried creole before and loved it! Crunchy battered whole snapper, conch ceviche, sweet plaintains and rice and beans. Perfect for sharing. The service was on “caribbean time”, go with friends, be patient and have a beer. Sit outside in a tropical garden at a thatched hut with music. Would definitely go back and try more dishes. Huge portions and well-priced. Fish was fresh and high quality. I will also try their catering. Would be perfect for a party.
