This place is a favorite of family that lives here. I can see why. Casual, nothing fancy atmosphere. Great food and service. Everything we had was great:catfish, oysters, mushrooms, fried green tomatoes. We had the "small" dinner which was a nice portion of filets. So good we ended up coming back the next day to get a thank you gift card for family to send back here once we leave.

Wanted to find a seafood place close to our hotel and this restaurant was recommended. It is casual in both appearance and price. The Fried Mushrooms and Onion Rings were delish and their homemade potato chips are very good too. I got one of the large seafood platters and after the appetizers barely put a dent in it (took most of it back to the hotel room). It included (all fried) 3 catfish fillets, 2 shrimps, 3 oysters, beans, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and a bowl of gumbo. The seafood and Gumbo were very good, the rest was average. Everyone at the table got similar plates (2 shared one which is plenty). There were grilled choices on the menu also. Very filling and good food at reasonable prices.

Honestly, if you see the place, the "appearance" factor might leave you questioning going there a little bit. But don't let that hold you back. We usually get catfish and shrimp - making the fried catfish the "main attraction". But honestly, his fried shrimp is crazy good - and flavorful. In fact, I don't even like fried shrimp. But Cherry Creek fried shrimp has a great flavor. We never get the washed out flavor. The shrimp are always delicious little fatties. The breading is nicely spiced and doesn't overpower the shrimp. It also doesn't flake or fall off the shrimp. It is just darned solid. If you like thin and crispy catfish that is honestly more about the breading than the fish, then you'll be disappointed. No, at Cherry Creek, these are big fluffy juicy catfish fillets that are heavenly with lightly spiced breading. So if you like CATFISH just nicely spiced you'll enjoy. They also have jalapeno tartar sauce which is a neat neat twist on the boring old tartar sauce. You gotta ask for it - just do it - it isn't that spicy. If you like fried green tomatoes you'll be pretty happy too. Finally they make a mean chocolate silk pie.

This is one of our favorite places to eat in Austin! My husband and I love the food, service, value and atmosphere! We often bring friends here who have never eaten catfish and the overall Southern experience in Cherry Creek is just great fun to share! So our most recent visit to CC with some UK friends was not a disappointment. It was a Friday night, so the place was packed but we only had to wait 20 minutes max. The staff here are always quality, we have our favorites that we tend to look out for though (Xavier and Garrett). I was impressed that the order was taken by memory and brought out to us correctly. We ordered some fried pickles and fried green tomatoes from the appetizer menu and those were of course amazing! We usually stick to our favorite choice of meal which is a 3 piece catfish plate that comes with beans, slaw, hush puppies and your choice of fries or mashed potatoes. All of the sides are delicious as well but the catfish is the star of the show! The fish is a good size, very meaty and cooked to perfection (no fishy smell)! I love to have my fish with the jalapeno tartar sauce, it has a mild kick to it and a very good flavor. We are always more than satisfied with the portion of our meal and usually have leftovers that never go to waste! CC is also great value on the pocketbook! The only complaint from our experience the other night was that the ladies bathroom wasn't very clean and we noticed the floors in the restaurant were pretty dirty, as well as very old and worn out in places but we chalked most of that up to how busy they were. Overall our experience was fantastic which is always the case! Highly recommend CC.

If you go Austin you must visit here. I really can't explain in words how good this place is. Friendly helpful staff and and amazing food. The catfish, shrimp were melt in the mouth. If you don't visit this place on any trip to Austin you really are missing out of one of life's pleasures.

This is a neighborhood casual restaurant. The atmosphere is appropriate. My wife and I have been there several times this year. She likes the fried shrimp. I stick to the small and filling catfish dinner. We have always had a good experience. Have not tried the baby back ribs or much else on the menu. We seem to be in a rut with our favorites.

We've always enjoyed Cherry Creek's food and our visit the other day was pretty typical. Good service, down home-style cooking, great batters, beans and a fresh, crispy workman-like salad. I was a little disappointed this visit. I usually order the oysters and they are spot on, but visiting in a non "R" month, I decided to try something new, so I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was a bland and not as a good of batter as other menu items. The gravy was over peppered and the mashed potatoes could have been a little more fluffy. It was edible, but I'd really recommend sticking to their seafood plates if you try this place. My honey had the fried shrimp platter and it was the usual perfectly fried, lightly battered, very large shrimp plate. The beans were a little more bland than usual and the coleslaw had a lot less dressing than usual. It was basically cabbage on a plate. The bake potato upgrade was good and the toppings sufficient. It's not a fancy restaurant, but the waitstaff is always pleasant and the food typically above average.

Cherry Creek Catfish was a nice dinner stop. We started with the breaded mushroom appetizer that was delicious but very filling. I had the blackened Catfish which was very good. I personally prefer a thicker filet to get more fish than spice, but it was very good. My wife had the fish tacos which were very good with the fresh cilantro. The place is priced very reasonable.

Whenever I’m in Austin, I always try to stop by here and eat. Always delicious food, quick service, and very reasonable prices.

Everyonce in awhile, I crave a good plate of fried oysters. So, in the months with "R" in them, I head here and order them up. I have yet to have a bad batch. Cherry Creek does their breading well. It's light and crunchy, but doesn't get in the way of the taste of the oysters. This time I ordered the small plate with mashed potatoes and added a side of the corn fritters. The corn fritters are a MUST no matter what you order. It's like taking Rudy's famous creme corn and hiking it up a knotch. I'd go back just for a basket of these and an order of 18 hushpuppies if you didn't tell my mother! My love ordered the small fried butterfly shrimp plate. The sides are always good. The beans, coleslaw are the usual fair. You can switch out the potato for a small fresh salad. Nothing fancy, but the greens are crisp and fresh. We sometimes order the chicken fried steak when its on special and it's good. The gravy is a little off sometimes, so we order it on the side. Service is somewhat inconsistent, but, usually good enough. Call ahead on weekends, as they are usually on a wait, but sometimes can suprise you with no wait if you hit it right.

We left the USA to travel South America for four months, and Cherry Creek was a place we HAD to visit as soon as we came back to Austin! Everything on their menu is incredible, and you will never leave hungry. Our go-to meals are the Trio and the grilled catfish with Cajun seasoning. Make sure to get the jalapeño tartar sauce too. We can’t say enough good things about this place. Best comfort food in Austin!

My husband and I really enjoyed the Fried Seafood Platter (especially the gumbo) the day before the restaurant shut down because of Covid. We used our BOGO coupon and took home enough for another meal. This is our favorite catfish restaurant in South Austin - not fancy, but excellent food and service!

I grew up just outside of Austin and have since moved away but go back several times a year to visit family and friends. During my visits it has become a tradition of sorts to drive down to South Austin to Cherry Creek where they make every effort to 'Keep South Austin Fried.' Why go back time and time again for over a 10 year period (I think the first time I went there was in 2000)? Simple. Few places fry catfish better. Their cornmeal batter is amazing with the perfect blend of spices. They use the same batter when they fry okra and green tomatoes (even typing this makes my mouth water). My favorite dinner order is the fried catfish plate that comes with fried catfish, hushpuppies, fries, coleslaw and baked beans. I am not a huge fan of coleslaw but theirs is exceptional. Finally, no dinner at Cherry Creek would be complete without Peach Cobbler for dessert and theirs does not fail to meet even the most skeptical cobbler eater. The exterior location is nothing special. It is located across from a high school in a (somewhat) rundown shopping center. Cherry Creek is the shining gem of the group. The interior decor is a bit hookie but appropriate for the menu..... fish nets and hooks, a huge catfish mural, etc. The service is decent but nothing to write home about.

Went on a busy Thursday lunch time. The owner came over and was wonderful. On hearing I was from UK he offered me lots of tasty local delicacies to try. The Chocolate pudding was to die for. I will return next time im in Austin.

What more can one say? The catfish is just amazing. On Monday's, it's all you can eat (and I've seen several people put away a lot of catfish). Other things like their shrimp, oysters, even their taco salad - delicious! I only wish they also had clam strips, and then they would be perfect. Staff is very friendly, and the food arrives quickly. Whenever my family visits from the east coast, this is one of the places they always want to go.

Funny - my favorite dish at Cherry Creek is their chicken fingers. The food is consistently good and you know what you are getting. Support local owned businesses!

This was my first visit to Cherry Creek but not my last. I ordered the grilled blackened catfish dinner. It came with 2 catfish filets, green beans, fried okra, garden salad, and hushpuppies. The catfish was delicious! The garden salad was pretty good as it had quite a bit of diced tomatoes on it. The Italian dressing was good as well. The hushpuppies were delicious. The green beans had chunks of bacon in them and they were delicious. The fried okra had a different kind of breading than I'm used to, so I wasn't too impressed with that. The sweet tea was okay. The staff was very friendly. The service was fast and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. The portion sizes are large. The atmosphere is catfish country.

Cherry Creek is the best of many that I have tried - Always crispy, never greasy-it's almost like it's not even fried!! Monday is 'All you can eat', but the dinners are a great value any night. Top it off with a scoop of vanilla Blue Bell ( something else I cannot get at home.) Plenty of options available for all palates. When in Austin, I always try and make the trip down to this charming little 'hole in the wall' on Manchaca road.

A second Cherry Creek Catfish restaurant is opening soon in Leander, near where we live. My wife and I have been looking forward to trying this Austin legend since we heard about the new location. We had the opportunity to be in south Austin yesterday and decided to stop at the original restaurant on Manchaca Rd. I consider myself more or less a catfish expert. I've been a catfish fisherman for 50 years and eaten many breeds and preparations. These range from my grandmother's original channel cat to fancy restaurants around the country and world. I was basically impressed by the catfish offering. Although not the best I've ever eaten, I'll give it a 7 of 10 and recommend you try it. It definitely ranks among the best locally. The fillets are all white meat and substantial. They were freshly cooked, firm, and had no mushy or limp feel. The cornmeal based coating was not too heavy and cooked to a darker golden brown. There was no greasy taste or feel. The meat was flaky, tender, and moist. I didn't find any gray "belly-meat". The catfish is obviously either farm raised or imported (Swai?) because it didn't have any of the wild flavor from river/lake caught fish. I read several reviews that said the gumbo was outstanding, so I tried a cup as an appetizer. I was very impressed by it and agree with "outstanding" rating. I've eaten at many places in south Louisiana and can't recall any better. The cup contained the gumbo served over a bed of white rice. I would have preferred dirty rice on the side or a full cup without rice. The gumbo had plenty of flavor. The rice just added filler volume. The base roux was well prepared, provided a thick consistency, and wasn't overly spicy. It contained a substantial amount of traditional crawfish tails, shrimp, andouille sausage, okra, celery, bell peppers, and onions. It didn't have the heat of real south Louisiana gumbo, but a few shots of original Louisiana Hot Sauce corrected this. I'll give this dish an 8 of 10 because of the white rice mixture and lack of heat. My wife loves fried green tomatoes and will try them if they are on the menu. She ordered these as an appetizer. The plate arrived and contained a large pile of 1/2"x2" fresh green tomatoes coated and fried to the same dark golden brown as the catfish. She said the tomatoes had good flavor and remained crisp after the deep fry. She ate about 6 and brought the rest home for lunches this week. She prefers tarter sauce with her catfish and noticed the jalapeno tarter sauce on the menu. She asked the waitress for a serving. She said it added a unique "kick" to the catfish. I prefer this heat from cayenne pepper in the cornmeal, but the jalapeno adds a Texas flair. The menu is very diverse and contains chicken fried steak, various po'boys, barbecue, and a taco salad or fish tacos for my wife. We can't wait for the local place to open in Leander. We'll probably be eating there 4 or 6 times a month. I'll add more reviews as we try more on the menu. As a native Texan, I have very high standards for chicken fried steak and BBQ! Finally, I would offer a suggestion to the bar menu. I was extremely disappointed by the beer offerings. The waitress said they didn't have anything on tap. She cited the standard commercial can/bottle list (Coors, Bud, Miller, and a couple of common Mexican varieties). Blue Moon was the most unique beer available. I would have expected Shiner Bock and Austin Amber at a minimum. Given the infinite variety of other local mid-size craft brews, there should be a rotating tap of several types and seasonals. The selection could come from customer input and popularity.

I have been eating at this restaurant for over 10 years and have yet to have a negative experience. The food is always good and we always receive excellent service. Be warned that it is an older building so don't expect immaculate facilities but you will receive great food at a great price in great environment.

We wanted seafood and something a little different from the Tex-Mex and BBQ that we had the last 4 days. Cherry Creek fulfilled our wishes. More Cajun and Louisiana style food than Texas style. Good food, good price, good service.

I am going to be honest, this place is a little outdated.. the decor makes you feel a little out of place BUT the catfish was AMAZING! Definitely coming back :)

This little hide-away has got to be one of Austin's Best kept Secrets!!! I was in town visiting family and I wanted to try a quiet place with great food. I found this place completely by accident and BOY, Was is GREAT!!! Fresh fried shrimp, hand-cut fries, home made hush-puppies and cold beer!!! People were exceptionally nice. It was one of those "everybody knows everybody else" kind of places and I was treated likewise. At one point during my meal, the owner came by and asked me how I was doing and how's the food. Go there, enjoy, but try to keep it a secret!!!

When I crave fried catfish, this is the place I go. Good tarter sauce is a prerequisite. Cole slaw, beans, and fries. I wouldn't change a thing on the menu. Don't forget the hush puppies. There's more choices that look good but I stick to the basics. Comfortable atmosphere. Convenient location with plenty of parking. Take home, too.

Allways good been going there along time but one thing my wife and daughter don't like fish but that said the chicken fried steak tasted like fish that's it I don't care I like catfish and for me if the chicken fried steak taste like fish I like that to just me be back for sure

My husband and really enjoyed our buy one get one lunch after church! This is my go-to place to get really good Catfish! I always get the seafood feast with gumbo, catfish, shrimp, oysters, hush puppies, French fries, cole slaw and beans;but I had shrimp substituted for the oysters today. My husband loves oysters, so he got the oyster platter, which comes with all of the side dishes that are on the seafood platter. The restaurant was very busy, but we were seated right away and our waitress too our drink order and got it out very quickly. When we ordered, our food was served in a very reasonable amount time! The food is always very tasty and consistently good and it's a very homey place to eat. They have 7 picnic tables outside in addition to a large and small dining room. There is live music on the sidewalk outside on some nights.

We used a buy one get one coupon and both ordered the seafood platter and took home enough for another meal! We loved the gumbo! The catfish, shrimp and oysters are excellent too! Great family style neighborhood restaurant, They even have live music outside on the weekend!

We have frequented this restaurant for years. Really good food. I haven't had anything that I did not like. The fried catfish dinners are huge and probably my favorite. But, I have enjoyed the grilled catfish and gumbo. Good place for family and friends to meet. Good for casual date night also. Reasonably priced.

South Austin location that is off the normal tourist track. Great fried foods served in plentiful portions. I highly recommend the chicken fried steak, the catfish, and the crawfish tails. Everything is served fresh and hot, with all the friendliness of a family reunion. My only complaint is that the tables are so close together, you almost feel like you are dining with your neighbors. Don't go for the atmosphere - go for the food! Carryout is available and very convenient.

My first visit. The people were very nice and took good care of us. Ordered Fried Okra for appetizer. It was excellent and very hot. Had to cut it into pieces to eat the first part. The salads were nice and crisp, the tomatoes ripe. We were seated at the last open table. Appetizer arrived quickly followed by salads and shortly by our plates of food. One plate was oysters, the other shrimp, oysters, and ribs. The oysters were crisp, a hair past perfect for my taste. French Fries perfect. A bowl of pinto beans were cold, but they fixed that right away. There were lots of families and kids. Music outside and a couple of picnic tables. The chocolate pie for desert was top notch. It was very firm, pecan crust, white topping with chocolate sprinkles.

We stopped into Cherry Creek Catfish Co., based on local reviews for the best chicken fried steak in Austin. We started with their fried green tomatoes which were disappointing. The batter did not stick to the tomatoes and they didn't have much flavor. The chicken fried steak was much better with a crispy batter and excellent gravy. I would suggest a side of the corn nuggets which were sweet and flavorful. A nice, friendly restaurant with good service and an excellent value! We will return next time we are in Austin.

Asked my wife where she wanted to eat for her birthday. Without hesitation she said Cherry Creek and again we were not disappointed. The food from the fried tomatoes and fried pickles to the scrimp to the catfish were excellent. Even my grandchildren, who usually are not fish eaters, loved the food. They especially loved the desert, fried cheesecake.

Truly enjoyed the catfish and shrimp and catfish dinners. The hushpuppies were very good. Nice indoor seating. Family oriented. Good parking area. The service was a bit slow. But, i always give a restaurant two chances. That night's staff could have just been a bit off.

We have taken advantage of the "Rib Pack" to go on several occasions and always enjoyed the ribs, beans and cole slaw that came with the pack for take out. Today we decided to eat lunch there. We went late, around 3 PM to avoid the true lunch crowd. Wife had the chicken fried chicken plate and I had the steak finger basket. Both were excellent. The chicken breast was pounded thin, breaded and deep fried. It usually comes with their tasty fries but she asked for and got green beans. It also includes a small salad and Texas toast. I had a few bites and loved it. My steak finger basket appears to be a smaller portion of the chicken fried steak cut into 4 strips. It comes with fries, country gravy and Texas toast. It was hot, the breading was crisp and the meat fairly tender. The gravy was good as well. These are not small meals by any stretch of the imagination. Next time we plan on splitting one of the plates. Their wine pours were generous and the wines, Carmen merlot and Mondavi chardonnay, were very good. All in all, a wonderful, filling late lunch. Stop in here and prepare to eat!

Enjoyed the food and the service. Johnny gave us excellent service. Ribs were delicious. What else can I say

We were satisfying my grandma's wish for a catfish dinner. I was looking for a place that was nearby, but either they were closed because it was a Sunday or it was way too pricy. We ordered takeout, but the place was buzzing with lots of people who were having dinner in the restaurant. It seemed like a lively, fun place to have dinner and we will definitely eat in the next time we come by. We ordered the catfish family meal and all I can say was that it was delicious. I have a tendency not to eat fish because of the texture and taste, but the catfish was superb. It was breaded in a seasoned mix and fried to perfection. The meal came with about 20 pieces of catfish, a pint of cole slaw and a pint of pinto beans. We also ordered a full side of okra, which was also delicious! All of this food was more than enough for dinner for 4 adults with enough leftover for lunch the next day. The price was right, too, allowing us to feed our family of 5 for less than $50. We are already planning for our next visit to the Cherry Creek Catfish Co.

I have to have exercised to eat here but it is worth it. They make the best Fried Green Tomatoes and catfish!

TXBohemian checked TripAdvisor for a local catfish restaurant in South Austin. Found Cherry Creek and decided to give it a try, based on other reviews. If it's Friday, and during Lent, this place will most likely be crowded. Note: They will not seat you until your entire party is present. Cherry Creek is in a nondescript shopping center across from Crockett High School. We pulled up into the lot, and there was some Stevie Ray Vaughn rocking from a DJ setup in front, older couples sitting on the benches waiting for a table, cooler full of beer for waiting guests, large bags of takeout being hauled to cars, and quite a few ordinary hungry folks waiting for some tasty catfish. Our table tried fried catfish and also grilled. Sides are basic and it was all good. Jalapeno hush puppies are quite tasty, along with the Jalapeno tartar sauce. Nothing fancy, just good fried catfish.

A holiday inn employee suggested this place for their catfish. I didn’t care for it because it was hard cooked. The service was nice. BlackBerry cobbler was good. Fried green tomatoes were good. But I went for the catfish and it was good but not great

My husband and I love the catfish at Cherry Creek Catfish. I'm not a fish eater, but I love their catfish. Our server, Roza, was very friendly, helpful and courteous. She was also very attentive making sure we had what we needed or wanted. We would recommend Cherry Creek Catfish and make sure you ask for Roza. Thanks.

We love Cherry Creek CAtfish and have been loyal customers for 10 + years. Tonight I had my first shocking disappointment. I am from south Louisiana and love good fried seafood. Cherry creek is one of two places in Ausyin where I will order fried oysters and they have always been like being at home when I get them at Cherry creek. Tonight they were mealy and with a very peculiar taste like they had gone bad. When I let the waiter know he told me they could not serve me anything else as the kitchen had already closed. I had to eat part of my husbands catfish. The big shocker tho was when the bill came all they comped was my meal. I was in the restraint industry for 12 years and where I come from when you serve somebody spoiled shellfish you come the whole meal and offer desert. Very disappointing and sad to me. Looks like another south austin gem might be going down the tubes

Appetizer Green tomatoes were obviously refrozen pucks. The mixed seafood basket was very mediocre. Don’t go here Bathroom was DIRTY, I told employee. She sneered at me. Salt shaker was grimmy

My family tried to come here for a birthday dinner and were completely ignored. When we walked in, we were told there was another large party waiting to be sat and that whichever party was complete first would get the large table while the other would have to wait 45 minutes or so. About 5 minutes before our final party member showed up, one of the ladies said they were all there. While they were prepping the table, 4 more members of their party arrived. We brought this to the hostesses attention and were told that they would be sat first because they said they were complete first. Not wanting to wait, we left for another restaurant and members of their party were still walking in as we drove away. If you are going to have it, actually enforce it.

A very busy place with no atmosphere but the food is so good you don't mind. I have never had better catfish and my spouse became a fan.

My husband and I love the catfish. He tried the gumbo and really loved it. The server, Autumn, was very helpful, friendly and courteous. She was very attentive always making sure we had what we wanted or needed. We would recommend Cherry Creek Catfish.

My husband and I LOVE this restaurant for catfish. There is a coupon every month in our neighborhood newspaper for a buy one get one with the purchase of two drinks. We almost always get the Seafood Feast and take enough home for another meal. The gumbo is wonderful and the fried shrimp and catfish are perfectly cooked! We love the jalapeño tartar sauce. I got a baked potato for $1 extra. The very friendly staff always makes it very enjoyable, and the music on the sidewalk outside on week-end nights is fun when it’s not too hot! This is a wonderful South Austin family restaurant!

Our party of 4 had lunch on Father's Day at Cherry Creek. The place was very crowded, but we did not have to wait too long. I had the small catfish platter which came with 3 pieces of fried catfish, cole slaw, 2 hush puppies, beans and I chose mashed potatoes instead of fries. It was very good!

Good food and good service. Good choices for fish and chicken as well as a kid's menu. The catfish and the shrimp were fantastic.

There's a lot more than catfish--and other seafood-- on the menu and it is all good. I have been there many times and have never been disappointed. Pricing is very reasonable, service is quick. Full bar. Kind of a cross between a neighborhood restaurant and a destination location--a place that you would travel some to get to.

My husband and I go to Cherry Creek Catfish often. We love the catfish. My husband really loves the shrimp and crawfish gumbo. They have all you can eat catfish on Monday. Our server, Roza, is really great. She is very friendly, attentive and courteous. Make sure you ask for Roza when you go. We would highly recommend Cherry Creek Catfish and Roza.

The catfish basket is hard to beat! Great service and prices. The Jalapeno tartar sauce is hot and delicious with the fresh hot catfish. Skip the chicken fried steak and get the fried catfish for sure!

Tried this place our on a recommendation of a friend. The catfish was cooked well and it was tasty. The hush puppies were also prepared well. Parking is a little tight. Friendly service.

My wife loves catfish so we decided to give it a try. The staff was very friendly, the decor is kind of Louisiana shack style. I decided to have the Cajun shrimp and it started with crawfish and shrimp gumbo, very good, salad was a salad, the shrimp was kind of Louisiana BBQ and it did not agree with me. I asked to waitress to change my order and she did without a fuss, I had the fried shrimp, AWESOME.lightly battered with a spicy tang. There was no charge for the change, My wife had the catfish and shrimp plate she loved it. We also ordered a fried mushroom and it was great. They have various specials, Monday all you can eat catfish for 7.99, my wife will be back for sure. Prices were moderate and the servings were big, so plus plus. So if you want catfish in south Austin, give it a try.

I lived in Memphis for 2 years and this was the "Hands down" the best catfish I've ever had. From the crispness of the batter to the way they sliced the fish. Awesome!! For 9 bucks you get a lot of food. I wasn't really sure what to expect when the beans arrived but they were really really good so don't pass those up either. Hush puppies and slaw were also great and the Sweet Tea was just right. I can't stand when places kill it with sugar but they got it right here. Super friendly owner and staff. Put it on your list of places to go in Austin

Week Day, Late Lunch We were seated immediately. Food also arrived quickly. One salad, One catfish plate. The pieces of fish are small. Take that into account when you decide which plate to order. Food was hot. Sides were tasty.

Love this restaurant! It is very homey, way casual, and really friendly staff work here. Very convenient access, parking, and I have dinner there at least 2X a month. The menu is all about catfish, of course, but there are a variety of dishes such as chicken, fish tacos, salads, ribs and burgers. I come mostly for the catfish, and their's is the best. ALWAYS fresh, crispy, sizzling hot and so tasty from the perfectly seasoned cornmeal. It is no surprise that the 'Chicken Fingers' are also out of this world. The fried dishes are very consistent, not greasy and flavors do not 'overlap'. The sides are all good. The 3-pc Catfish Dinner may be called 'small' but it is plenty with 3 jumbo pieces and 2 sides. Be sure to try the 'Fried Green Tomatos' appetizer. Really excellent catfish.

My husband and I enjoyed dinner with some out of town friends. my husband and I shared the Seafood Feast with an extra bowl of gumbo. Our friends had a Seafood Feast for the husband and his wife had a Shrimp Basket. (They took a LOT of food home)

I had to go to south Austin for an appointment and was looking for someplace for lunch when I pulled into a shopping center to make a u-turn and spotted the restaurant. It didn’t look too good from the outside so I googled it and the reviews were good so I went in. It was packed. Service was very good - not always the case for a woman lunching alone. Some of the best catfish I’ve eaten in a very long time.

It is a hidden gem. The fried crawfish appetizer is very good. Nice casual restaurant in south Austin.

Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The catfish was very good also the shrimp & gumbo were very good. Enjoyed the sides as well. Staff very friendly & helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We were looking for some good fried fish, and decided to try Cherry creek Catch. The catfish is very tasty with no greasy after taste. We tried the jalapeno tarter and it gave the mean a nice kick. Staff and service are very good and the place appeared clean.

I went because I had a buy one meal get one free offer. I ordered the sampler plate. It was excellent, and there was so much food that what I took home became lunch for both me and my husband. I like catfish and it was really excellent. The gumbo was good too, and I think next time I might just order a bowl of that for lunch. My husband and son were both really happy with their meals too, even though our son had chicken fried steak at a fish place...go figure.

We live in San Antonio & visited this place for the 1st time last week. The service was great & the food absolutely amazing!!! Definitely will be returning

"All you can eat fried catfish!" my son said. "Fried ?!?" I said. Well that's the Monday night deal and I wasn't sold on it yet. So he got Cajun fish and shrimp (not fried) and I got the Feast plate --and several other appetizers. I could NOT believe the tastiness !! Corn nuggets or whatever they are called-get half an order so you can try that and fried crawfish. Fried onion rings -oh my- I could have made myself sick but I took 4 home with the leftovers and rewarmed in 450 oven on a cookie sheet. In 4 minutes they were crispy like just served! My daughter dropped by also, to sample everything we had on the table. The shrimp is very VERY delicious; it has to be gulf shrimp..sweet...the fried catfish could have been perch or redfish it was so clean tasting. No muddiness or hint at being a "bottom"fish. Cherry Creek knows how to do this fish!! But the cobbler was what my kids fought over. I am a chocolate aficionado so I had to try the silky mousse pie. My son had never had it and he kept swiping mine !!! Pecan pieces for the crust-- not ground pecans- chunks; pieces of pecan. I don't know how they got it to stick together. And after I drove an hour to get back home I thought, "why the h--- did I let him take the leftover pie?!" Those last three bites would have been heaven for a 10pm snack. Arrrgh!!! Oh yea, the service was OUTstanding. They are all funny and friendly!!

This place is heaven if you love fried food. The fried shrimp and sweet potato fries were delicious, the prices reasonable and the service excellent. I love the onion rings, too.

My husband and I hadn't gone to Cherry Creek Catfish for many years. We decided to give it another chance. The food & service from our server, Roza was great. At first another server took our drink order. Before we could even order she told us that we couldn't share a meal or take out leftovers. We told her that we were offended by what she said. I guess that is why they changed our server. It was all you can eat catfish night. Anyone that goes to an all you can eat knows that you don't share or take out leftovers. My husband and I were very offended by what the server said to us. We both ordered our own meal. She said that she was told to tell everyone that they couldn't share or take out leftovers. I guess the point is don't go on all you can eat catfish night or make sure you let them know right away you will be ordering your own meal.

We visited here on the way back from visiting our new grandson in hospital after a long day. We were welcomed and seated quickly and promptly served I had the catfish regular dinner which was huge and couldn't eat it all and husband had the catfish and shrimp but the shrimp was a little disappointing as it was very dry . Would visit again.

I have seen this restaurant for years. We just enjoyed tasty fried catfish and the hush puppies had a wonderful spicy flavor. I cannot wait to try more offerings.

While visiting my friend in Austin, I asked where we could go for a delicious catfish dinner. The suggestion was this amazing restaurant. Absolutely everything was, pardon the slogan, “finger licking good.” The catfish was done to perfection, the coleslaw was the best. I couldn't get enough of the jalapeño tartar sauce. I even ate the hush puppies, of which I am not usually a big fan of. And oh, the grilled medley of zucchini squash was so good. Our server kept our huge glasses of sweet tea filled. No room for dessert, next time we’ll have to save room. I thoroughly enjoyed everything and “I’ll be back.” Sorry, no pictures to share this time. Great food, great service and great price.

We had a large group for dinner here, and everyone loved their food. Service was excellent. Diners all liked fried catfish, sides, fried shrimp and the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer. It was nice ;they brought us plates to serve a birthday cake we brought in...

We are talking cat fish. Oh yeah, go here a couple of times a month. The fish is great, the ribs are reportedly good (so says my friend) and you can hurt yourself on the hush puppies and sweet potato fries.

We are hooked on Cherry Creek Catfish and have been for years! We are never disappointed and have taken many friends who loved it as well.

Almost all the food on the menu is fried. They specialize in catfish and hush puppies. Since I hate fried food, about the only things on the menu that aren’t is grilled catfish. Also baked potatoes after 5pm. My friend had the fried catfish and said that it was good. I settled for a loaded baked potato and a beer. We rarely eat here because the menu is so unhealthy.

Had lunch at Cherry Creek on Sunday after church. The food was very unimpressive! Nothing we had was exceptional. Catfish is tolerable, but nothing to write home about. Shrimp was strong tasting and was definitely frozen, ribs were dry and tasteless. Upside...service was very good, server was attentive and nice to deal with. Will not return, unless I have a memory lapse or become desperate! Don't know where you can find really good catfish in Texas!

Nothing says southern eating like fried catfish. A regular haunt and I have never been disappointed. Love the fish, sweet potato fries and all the rest. A must try!!!

Very good food and value. A pleasant surprise. The gumbo was authentic, and the seafood fresh and tasty.

Mom wanted catfish. Did a quick search and found this place pretty close. Easy to find, inside it looks exactly what you'd think a seafood place should. It's a cozy inviting atmosphere. Everything we ordered was good. One exception was the coleslaw& beans that came with the meal. The beans were so bland and tasteless. The slaw was Wayy too chunky for me and had no sauce or dressing. Other than that it was all good. I highly recommend the corn nuggets! We'll be returning for sure.

We have been eating here for years and, in my opinion, they have the BEST Sothern Fried Seafood in Austin. Catfish>Amazing! Fried Crawfish Tails>Yes Sir Delicioso! Fried Oysters>almost as good as Moms. There is something for everyone and it's all good. If you haven't been here go find this place and I PROMISE you will not be disappointed. One criticism that is more suggestion then anything> get some craft beers on the menu people are really in to that right now and most go well with some good ol Southern Fried Catfish>mmmmmmmmmmm Oh and don't forget to ask for the Jalapeño Tarter Sauce. Yee Yee!

Stopped here on the way to the airport. The fried shrimp was outstanding - perfectly lightly breaded! Tartar sauce was tasty and suited my taste-buds - not sweet like some can be. My husband had the grilled fish tacos and gobbled them up! He also had the gumbo. He thought he cook make just as good; I thought it had the perfect seasonings - maybe heavy on the okra if I had to criticize. Victoria was our server and could not have been better. She followed up, was there when we needed her but not in our face. Brought extra napkins and refilled water without asking. Will be back when in the area.

We hadn't eaten here in years but I'm glad we tried it again. The Blackened Catfish with Creole Spices was super good. Even though it was Sunday lunch crowd, we got excellent service.

Visiting my son in Austin. He took me to Cherry Creek and sure glad he did. The fresh shrimp and catfish were excellent! Chicken fried steak was old school and perfect. Our waitress was Lou. She was awesome.

My husband and I have gone to Cherry Creek Catfish for several years. We love the food especially the catfish. The service is always great. Roza is very friendly, helpful and courteous. She is very attentive, she makes sure we have what we need or want. We would highly recommend Cherry Creek Catfish and make sure you ask for Roza. She will take good care of you.

This place is a good Austin laid back place on the south side. The service is good and the food is worth the trip. We had fish all three times we visited. It is far from our home on the west side, so we don't get to eat there as much as we'd like. If you have time and want a good meal and good prices, it is a good choice.

Hands down this place has the best catfish around .. and don’t forget their fried green tomatoes .. so delicious ..,service here is usually prompt and staff are friendly ... reasonable prices too ... this place is always on our list as one of our favorite places to eat in Austin!!

I had the fried catfish and fried shrimp combo that also came with hushpuppies (I replaced the beans with more hushpuppies), fries, coleslaw, the catfish & shrimp was amazingly delicious, the fries and hushpuppies were very good and the coleslaw was also good (I normally don't care for coleslaw), the service was also good and it's not as expensive as some of the other seafood places, definitely recommended if you like good seafood.

Started out with their fried green tomatoes which are super. also ordered the corn nuggets which were not that good. The seafood gumbo was good but a bit dry and not very much of it for the price. The seafood feast and the Cherry Creek Trio are both winners on the menu. Fast service and friendly servers make for a nice meal. The fried oysters on the seafood feast were a bit old tasting but the catfish was awesome.

Kinda skeptical but decided to give it a try. First off, everyone was so friendly! They had a special for 8 cheese sticks for $5.. gave it a try. They were mediocre at best... i got chicken fried steak ,my girlfriend got catfish. The catfish come in HUGE portions for GREAT prices! Their hush puppies have jalapeños so be aware because they don’t let you know . Catfish was flaky and delicious. Some of the best I’ve had. The CFS was subpar.. but still good. I’d definitely recommend

The food is always great here no matter what you order. The catfish is my favorite. The service is also good. Tip weekend evenings are busy. You may have a short wait but worth it.

The catfish is amazing and the portions are large. Fried pickles are great and other items on the menu are great as well. Great family place.

We have been here several times for our Friday lunch. With one exception, we have loved the quality of food and service every time. I love the lunch catfish basket, my wife prefers the fish tacos. Be sure to request the jalapeño tarter, delicious! If you can get there just before 11, you can almost have the place to yourself, nice and quiet. Two lunch specials with waters $18, before tip.

This is my go to restaurant for fried shrimp, fried oysters, and catfish filets, fried or pan seared. Very good value restaurant with consistent quality. Staff will cook catfish filets to your specification. One in my party eats salt-free as much as possible and they can accommodate his needs excluding the beans and coleslaw. We like the sweet potato fries too.

Homey atmosphere, great fried shrimp and oysters, good salads and desserts.

I ordered take out from Cherry Creek Catfish. I ordered the family pack with 20 catfish filets, coleslaw, beans and hush puppies. Everything was very tasty. The normal price was $28 but we got a special for $22. There was enough food for four people to eat and we had leftovers for later. The restaurant does not have much of street appeal but it nice inside. We will be back.

I've driven by this place untold times but today, I stopped in for lunch. The place was busy, but not packed at about 12:30 pm, and I was seated pretty much right away. I noticed one of the lunch specials was a basket of 4 catfish fillets and fries for $7-8. While looking over the rest of the menu and after the waitress asked about my drink order, she asked if I'd like an appetizer to start. I asked for her recommendation and one of the items she mentioned was fried mushrooms. I loves me some fried mushrooms and said so. She asked if I'd like a half order or a whole. "I'm a big guy" I says, "so just bring me a whole order!" In what seemed no time at all she brings me my food saying it all came up at once. The first thing I notice is this HUGE mound of really big mushrooms! It was piled high enough that as I tried to set it down one mushroom rolled off the top onto the table, and despite my best efforts, I could not get it to stay on the stack thereafter. The catfish was golden brown and filled the basket so that I didn't see the fries beneath at first. I bit a tip off a filet and it was moist and tasty. I tried the tartar that came with and while the sauce was nicely flavored, it over powered the flavor of the fish. Didn't use it again. I did squeeze a little lemon juice over them and enjoyed a delightful haul! As to the mushrooms, they were hot and juicy and so so tasty. The batter could have been slightly heavier for the size of these mushrooms, but was still crunchy and savory. I should have ordered half an order, but I ended up having a mid afternoon snack with the leftovers. With tip I spent just over $20. I'll be going back to explore dinner!

Would recommend this restaurant, great rib dinner and specials on different days of the week!! Good size portion and very good price. Would recommend and would definitely return if I came back to Austin!!

We went for dinner on a Friday at 5:30 pm to beat the crowds. No problem, we got right in and there were tables available all the time we were there. We ordered the onion rings for a starter and they were wonderful - took half of them home. My wife had the smaller catfish dinner with a baked potato instead of fries. Very good, included hush puppies, coleslaw, baked beans, fish and potato. I ordered the 3/3/3, fish, shrimp and ribs. They came with hush puppies, green beans, coleslaw and I also had a baked potato instead of fries. So much food that we took 3 containers back to our RV. Service was great and all the food was outstanding. Now the wine, only three choices and all probably out of a box in our opinion.
The Best!!!
The Best!!! This is some of the best catfish I've ever had in my entire life. Doing this for points. Lol.
