A fantastic breakfast hang out. We visited as a group of 10 friends and were spoilt for choice with such a wide and varied menu. Everything from pancakes, waffles, bacon, potatoes, steak, fruit and so much more. Service was good and helpful in recommending and guiding our food choices. Highly recommend the Bloody Mary 👌.

We had visitors from out of town and wanted a place before they left. This place fit the bill. Fast and efficient made for an enjoyable experience.

Every time I visit Chicago I try to make it to Waffles. My wife and I typically order waffles with chicken and bacon (with slightly spicy syrup), coffee (free refills) for me and tea for her. They run great deals during the week, bit prices are not steep for the amount and quality of food. You may want to call to see if there are seatsof you go durong weekend, because it gets packed. I highly recommend this place.

My boyfriend and I came here twice for breakfast and had a great experience both times. The menu is extensive and includes healthful options. Inasmuch as I try to stick to a diet plan, this was the time to indulge. The first time I tried the Red Velvet french toast which was infused with cream cheese filling, and boy! That was awesome! It was on the sweet side which satisfied my craving at the same time. The second time I ordered the Liege Waffles which is made of crystal sugar which carmelizes and gives it a sweetness it really doesn't need syrup. The waffle is rich and crispy...mmm, good! I ordered pancakes on the side and what can I say, it's soft and fluffy, like a pillow of goodness. The place is crowded all the time but service is quick and wait staff are very attentive. Definitely recommend this place.

Waffles is off the beaten path with plenty of street parking. It has an extensive menu with large portions. We ordered eggs/ham and eggs/bacon-done perfectly and very tasty! We also shared a waffle with fresh strawberries and bananas. The waffle was awesome! Even the coffee (Intelligencia) was delicious! I would definitely return for lunch and/or try some of their advertised lunch specials. They also offer some weekday specials for $3.99. Some of the menu items seemed a bit pricey, but others were normally priced. We really enjoyed our breakfast here and can't wait to return. The staff was very plentiful and attentive.

When this spot generated in our Google search for a breakfast spot on our recent visit to Chicago, we were hoping for something flavorful, savory, and inexpensive. ZERO disappointments!!! The staff at both locations were friendly (yes, we enjoyed breakfast every morning at different locations), the menu provided plenty of options (we enjoyed the Bacon & Chicken Waffles, Steak Omelette, and the Maple Bacon Sausage Skillet), and the prices were easy on the pockets. Do yourself a favor and make one of their locations your next breakfast spot!

We went here on a busy Sunday morning and we were pressed for time. We were able to get two seats at the counter and had a most enjoyable breakfast. The eggs were done just right, the bacon was thick cut and smoky and they had the most amazing breakfast potatoes I've ever had. Definitely a place I would recommend. Prices were good too. A great find.

This is my new favorite place for breakfast. They have everything. This was my 2nd visit. Great service, great food, great drinks and a great time. Can't ask for anything more.

DH and I shared a 5 egg ham and cheese Omelette that came with 2 pancakes and breakfast potatoes. Amazing amount of food. One person of the other couple got a Plain & Simple of 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. She was disappointed that the bacon was barely cooked, since she likes it crispy. The other person ordered the Waffle Benedict. It was pulled pork, eggs, and hollandaise on a sweet waffle. Service was quick and friendly.

Heard a lot of good things about Chicago waffle so I decided to try them while I was back home visiting family. There are so many different kinds of waffles to choose from. There were six of us in our party so we all got a different type of waffle tried one another's. They were all delicious and large. They also have half orders in case you don't want to eat a lot or if you want to try different kinds. Service was fast and the food was very good. Conveniently located right on Michigan avenue downtown.

Ordered from Doordash.com...was really looking forward to paying the extra $ because I heard such good things. The ham and cheese omelette was good, not dry, but the toast was burnt. The chilaquiles was edible...a tablespoon of guacamole & sour cream was insulting and the pancake of scrambled eggs was laughable....I could barely find the pulled pork in the dish. We ordered 2 chicken & waffles and 1 short rib & waffles...received 3 chicken & waffles...and they were the saddest plates of food I've seen in a long time. 2 chicken tenders (frozen that you can buy in the store) & 1 piece of bacon on the blandest waffle (even with syrup & butter) was so disappointing, we threw them in the garbage. Thankfully, we got a credit for the missing short rib waffle to make up for some of the money wasted on this garbage.

We absolutely loved this place! We ordered the breakfast burrito and the special and it did not Dodd’s pint.

Though a little pricey these guys take their waffles seriously & it will fill you up with a tasty treat. I had the bacon waffle & fried chicken. A different combo for me. The chicken was a little dry, but acceptable. The bacon waffle (with pure maple syrup) was DELICIOUS. My son had the pound cake french toast, which seemed a bit rich for my taste, but the strawberries added a lot. Their plate presentation was thought out, which means something to me since it shows they care. The juices were also costly, but tasted fresh. The service was good & you could tell they enjoyed working there. Again, if you're looking for a bargain, you can look somewhere else, but if you, like me, LOVE bacon waffles with pure maple syrup & want a full tummy, this is worth the stop.

I was in Chicago this past weekend to watch the lighting of Michigan Ave. We wanted a breakfast restaurant for our group of 12. We called and they were able to take us Sunday morning. Everyone in our group was able to order what they wanted. The portions were large and the price very reasonable. My son had their signature Chicken & Waffles. It was passed around the table and was wonderful. I am a US Army Veteran and they offer a generous discount for Veterans. This will be our breakfast destination for all future Chicago visits.

We found this place by accident! Try the Green tea waffle. I had the waffle sampler and it was great. I did not care for the red velvet waffle very much. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and amazing. The service was quick and the place was crowded. We ended up sharing a table with strangers which was fine for us. Great experience.

It was a little noisy, but the waitress was extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgable. The food was very good.

The food was pretty good. The breakfast potatoes were amazing! We had a small issue with the eggs, they messed up the order a little bit but they handled it very quickly. Their pancakes and waffles were incredible, I highly recommend! But all in all they were good, fast and reasonably priced.

We happened upon Chicago Waffles on Memorial Day and had an absolutely wonderful experience and delicious brunch. The waiters were so friendly and accommodating. Luckily it wasn't as packed as the day before,on Sunday, when we walked by and saw a long line of people waiting. The waiters had time to chat, we talked about more than just the food, we got to meet the owner of the restaurant, and simply enjoyed the experience. Now, about the food... the carrot-coconut-waffle with candied walnuts was to die for. It came with real, homemade AMAZING whipped cream, like you don't usually find in brunch restaurants. The Beny with Corned beef hash was delicious. Came with a big cup of very fresh fruit. The Avocado Sandwich was great, everything so fresh and tasty. And the cappuccino was good. We used to go to Yolk for brunch when we visited Chicago, but I think we may have found our new brunch place!

What a way to start your day! The green tea waffles with candied ginger, topped with whipped cream and pistachios were amazing. The avocado toast with egg and arugula was good too. The price was pretty high for breakfast but the taste was unbelievable. A great splurge and worth going back.

Chicago Waffles... Yes, as the name explains, is predominantly a waffle house. Though, they do have a number of other dishes that may be more to your liking. This restaurant is located on Michigan Avenue, so it's really quite easy to find. Once inside, you find a very elaborately designed interior. There's all kinds of things all over the walls. It kind of makes the whole dining experience if not fun, at least visually stimulating. The tables are all fairly well situated in this restaurant. A bit close together for my taste, but they serve their purpose fairly well. They have two main dining areas. There is the central area that has the view of the kitchen, as well as a side area, which seems to be where most people prefer to sit. Either way, you'll have fairly good service here, and the staff seems to do their job very well. In terms of their menu, as mentioned, they basically serve waffles. They have your standard waffle, and then they have a few unique variations on the waffle. I think this may be your best bet, as you may be able to eat something unique like I had on my last visit, their Matcha Waffle. After that, they do have other things like various egg dishes, an oatmeal, and granola and fruit bowl, which I really like. I find that to be very enjoyable. If you want to go healthier, that may be the best bet for you. They also have all of the various drinks that you would expect, including lattes. I generally go for the latte. I will say, however, the lattes tend to be a bit on the small side. Just keep that in mind, as you may need to order two, if you want to get your caffeine fixed on. Overall, if you want to go to a fun place to enjoy a waffle, and/or other breakfast style items, enjoy a drink, and enjoy some conversation time with your friends or family, this may be your place to go.

This was a great place to stop for a filling breakfast/brunch before heading off to a Cubs game. The many variations on Eggs Benedict include a great a Florentine vegetarian iteration, and the waffles are perfect (fluffly and crisp). The coffee is also surprisingly good for diner brew (dark and flavorful). The space is a bit loud, but small tables in the nook near the east windows are more quiet. We were seated almost immediately, even on a Sunday morning, and the service was fast and attentive.

I live very close to Waffles but never had an occasion to visit. The opportunity came about when my son and grandson were available for brunch. My wife and I were happy with the service plus the added demands of a 7 year old grandson. The service was excellent and timely. The price was reasonable. We will return.

We tried Waffles for a big breakfast ( to start off our day) during our visit to Chicago...I felt a Mexican vibe inside so I tried huevos rancheros and Orange juice...A big miss!...Old beans (probably from the day before), a rather insipid green sauce and the whole dish was cold..They had natural orange juice and it was the best we had...before leaving I order a cappuccino, and it was a joke...they brought me cafe con leche in a coffee mug...It looked as if they had no idea of how to make a cappuccino..then we wanted cuban sandwiches to go ( there was a long day ahead) and they were OK..Probably I made a mistake skipping the waffles, or maybe choosing this place for breakfast anyway...

Went on a Saturday morning and enjoyed an outdoor table. We were seated promptly. Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about gluten-free options. Food was well-prepared and severed quickly.

Had Sunday breakfast. We found the place to be convenient as not many places open as early as it does on Sundays. The waffles were good, and portions generous. The pancakes were a bit dry, and the maple syrup a bit too runny.

I had high hopes for this place, as I had seen it on the Cooking Channel earlier this year. It lived up to my expectations many times over. I got the Bacon and Chicken waffle. Don't let a savory waffle scare you! It is easily one of the best things on the menu. Licked my plate clean!

1.5 blocks from us is this great place for breakfast or brunch. Waffles! Many types .... omelets with whatever you want, and good coffee. Busy early, and better for late breakfast..

Went there for breakfast. Food was ok. Portions were huge! You will have plenty of food. Service was ok.

We tried to gluten free options; the waffle and the pancakes. Both were awesome! Two other in group who can eat wheat had red velvet French toast and red velvet waffle. Everyone enjoyed the food! Great to find a breakfast place with g-free options that aren't eggs.

This past weekend a group of us ate at Waffles for the past 3 days in a row. I consider myself a breakfast food connoisseur and always search for good breakfasts joints. The food here was excellent. I tried something different everyday and was not dissapointed at all. I ended with the Mexican Skillet which was amazing. Good coffee and constant drink refills all around. Very friendly and attentive staff. I did not catch her name but the blonde haired blue eyed waitress from the Ukraine was our server on all days. Perfect (Management, if you read this she needs a raise).

The chicken and waffles are delicious. The skillets and freshed squeezed juice are a hit. SpecialDeals are even more appealing. Service is quick and the food is a hit!

Great place to have breakfast. Portion size is just right, and the price is great for the area as well. Staff is really friendly and always recognize and acknowledge my family and when we have our weekly/bi-weekly meals. Get there early on a Sunday if not the wait is long.

The service was outstanding and the hot coffee kept coming. The food was brought hot and was delicious. Been back two days and expect to again tomorrow.

I ordered a meal that came with eggs, corned beef hash, potatoes, with a side of pancakes. It was very good tasting. We also ordered a waffle with apples ontop. The apples were unexpectedly cold. It wasn't that they tasted bad but they would be better warm. Service was quite good. Always had a full cup of coffee. It never failed. They almost filled it up as soon as I took two sips. Service was prompt and we were also greeted at the door. Final bill was about 35 dollars. 2 cups of coffee and two meals.

Our early breakfast on the sidewalk was quite good. If you can't make up your mind, go for the minis. Of those, the favorite was decidedly the red velvet, but I also loved the banana Nutella. Not sure why we didn't try the chick waffle, but we can go back!

The only complaint I have is the place was hot, a little A/C would have gone a long way towards making it a more enjoyable experience. That being said, the food was great, very good coffee, the portions were quite sizable, and the service was excellent. I will definitely go back again. I had the 5 egg omelet, which was very good.

My party and I walked a few blocks to this restaurant for a late morning breakfast. This restaurant is very busy but also very good. Even though they were packed we still received our meals before we finished our first cup of coffee. In short, FOOD good SERVICE Great, ATMOSPHERE fun, REFRIED BEANS spectacular.

An awesome breakfast or Brunch place in the heart of Chicago with an overload of choices reasonably priced and wonderful and friendly staff. This place won’t disappoint!

The waffles are hands down the best I've ever had. My friends and i will be returning for more soon! Outstanding

Very good breakfast. Service wasn't the best but it was very busy that day before the game. The food was very good and I would go back.

My husband and I shared the 5 egg omlette. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Fried potatoes had skins on and were very tasty. Service was polite and prompt. There was plenty of food to share which made the price reasonable.

My boyfriend and I needed somewhere to eat close to the museum campus and we stumbled on this restaurant. It was an amazing find! The serves weren't assigned to a certain table meaning that when your water, coffee need to be refilled or your order taken the nearest server was always ready to help. Also the amount of vegetarian options was amazing. It had more than your average breakfast place, veggie omelet. This had multiple option that had no meat in them that were filled with protein. The service was fast and the meal was even better. I would recommend anyone who needs a meal near the museum campus or even just downtown Chicago to try this restaurant.

Omelet is really good, nice service, they are friendly waitresses. Price is good for the loop. Recommended definitely

If I could put a big fat goose egg ZERO I would. The service is horrendous and the food is gross. My niece and I both ordered Huevos Ranchero and the menu said black beans, rice and green tomatillo sauce. When we received it, the black beans looked like a soup, the rice was hard and the sauce was RED. So...I told them I couldn’t eat it. They came back and gave me the correct sauce but instead put the “black bean watery mush” in a bowl. I lost my appetite as it was so disgusting. We were at a “communal” table and shared it with a party of 5. We had a party of 4. The waitress talked to both groups separately and clearly knew we were not together. When she asked me if it was separate checks or all together, I said all together...THINKING SHE WAS ASKING ABOUT MY PARTY OF FOUR. Afterwards when we asked for our check, she said she already gave it and pointed to the other party at our communal table. That’s when both parties said “we don’t know eachother.” She tried to blame me and said “you told me all together.” Umm...yeah for MY party...I’m NOT paying for strangers. The icing on the cake was at the cashier. I gave my corrected bill to pay. THANK GOD I ALWAYS look at my bill. When I looked at it, I noticed that it was $17.35 more. I mentioned to the cashier that she gave me the wrong bill. She said, “what? I just gave it to you.” I told her that it was wrong and pointed to my bill. That’s when she said nonchalantly, “oh I charged someone else’s bill on yours. I’ll void it and charge yours.” I asked when the other charge would drop off, she said “Monday” like it was no big deal. She’s lucky I have money in my account otherwise, waiting for $70 to drop off of my card would be an issue. When I asked for a receipt stating that she voided the amount, she said, “I already voided it.” I told her “I get that but I need something in writing in case I need to dispute this if it doesn’t fall off.” That’s when she RUDELY told me, “Relax...I’ll get it for you.” WE ONLY CAME HERE BECAUSE THE WAIT FOR YOLK WAS 45 MINUTES and my 15 year old has come here a few times with her HS friends because she likes the waffles. After today’s hellish experience, I told her that she is forbidden to give this establishment any more of our money. I will be sharing this with EVERYONE I know. I’ve NEVER had such an all around horrible experience.

We were staying in the neighborhood and started here before a day of sight-seeing downtown. Service was super fast and friendly, they have a good sized menu with lots of options. I had a veggie garden skillet and it was delish.

With a name like waffles I expected to get my socks blown off with an amazing waffle. You should expect a lot of waffle creations. It was good and very filling but not quite what we had expected. No such this as just a plain Jane waffle. The place is pretty nifty inside and the service is prompt. We will come back again especially knowing what to expect.

Staff were friendly but not constantly hovering like some of the other places in this area. I didnt feel rushed. The weekday breakfast special is an almost unheard of value in this downtown area. You must try their chicken and waffles as it is an experience all by itself. The spicy syrup had me skeptical but one bite made me a believer. This is a must try destination i have revisited with friends.

We had good service and delicious food here! Berry pancakes were awesome. Gravy on biscuits and gravy tasted home made, as did the whipped cream. We called ahead for a table on Sunday which worked really well.

This was a great breakfast experience. The food was very good. Hearty traditional American breakfast with a twist of creativity from the chef. The service was very friendly. Portions are generous. Good value.

Sounds cliché, I know... but you must try the Waffle flight! Awesome breakfast. We hit the South Loop location on a snowy Wednesday morning so the crowd was light. We got prompt service... excellent waffles and perfect coffee. I recommend if your in the South Loop and hungry for breakfast!

Stopped in here several times last week while in town. Diner style breakfast place with maybe the best pancakes I've ever had..... also had french toast and omelette - all were delicious. Very big portions, really good coffee, good service considering how busy they were, and very reasonable prices for a major city. I'm already looking forward to going back during the summer !!

My boyfriend and I travel (literally) all over the world. When I say this is the best breakfast anywhere, I mean it! Start off your day with one of their delicious caramel lattes. The menu is to die for, with the best red velvet waffles you've ever had. Creme brulee waffles, chicken and waffles, chocolate waffles. Seriously, if you can't find something that sounds absolutely mouth watering on this menu, you're the pickiest eater alive.

I think the overall current rating of this breakfast place (4.1) is underrated. Lots of unique breakfast dishes here and pretty reasonably priced for what you get. Interior of restaurant is colorful, bright, and airy. They do have traditional breakfasts here if you aren’t into waffles but the waffle dishes are the highlight. Just seeing the online menu is fun because of all of the crazy choices. Really enjoyed the waffles that had the bacon in it and the short rib skillet was excellent with the short rib having a nice kick to it. The strips of bacon were high quality and thickly cut. They also use a higher end coffee as well. Only disappointment was the eggs, which were kind of runny.

Had a great breakfast with the kids. Staff were super friendly, service was quick and the waffles and crepes hit the spot. We’ll be back for sure.

Service at its best. Happy people to serve you with food to remember. Amount of food is beyond expectations. Quality of food best and made to be delicious. Staff goes out of their way to make you at home. If you are in Chicago don't miss this one. All dishes recommended. Enjoy!

Oh how I loved my visit!! The food, drinks and service was very good. Worth the price. I love the location, the decor, the vibe was a quaint diner feel. They have a bar and serve drinks which was what really attracted me. My food was so so good. I can't wait to return. Victoria was a server. She did a good job.

$4.99 for the specials - either bacon waffle with chicken or ham steak with 2 eggs. WOW Tasty and great service

The food was good but the service was horrible. This was my first time here and was excited to try the waffles. However I was extremely disappointed with the service and lack of concern from the Manager. The waitress completely ignored us and threw our bill on table. I spoke to the Manager and he didnt say anything to her. We were waiting for him to speak to her at least and correct the situation. NOTHING! We asked him what was he going to do and he said he will "talk" to everyone. This was unacceptable and he didn't even bother to give discount, coupon or anything to show sincerity. I will NOT return and will be sure to spread the word and tell others to not support Waffles. Disappointing!!!

Our food arrived so quickly after ordering, I envisioned an Olympic-esque competition happening in the kitchen. "THEY ORDERED THE SPECIALS! GO, GO, GO!!" I ordered the chicken & waffle and my chicken was a glorified chicken nugget. In another inexplicable accomplishment, they somehow managed to dry out the chicken while leaving the breading barely cooked. The chicken was downright pale. Waffle was barely cooked and mushy. The waiter made a special point to tell us that my meal was normally $12.95. I was unhappy at the $5.99 that I did pay - if I had paid $12.95 I would not have been so friendly nor generous with the tip (despite the waiter forgetting both our coffees). Perhaps we had the "b" team, but with only two other tables in the entire restaurant, if this is the best level of consistency they can manage, they stop focusing on trying to be "special" and just try to be good.

We stopped mid morning as we were out touring Chicago. We had 4 really good breakfast entries... veggie omelet, chicken bacon waffle, cinnamon roll waffle and triple berry pancakes. The chicken bacon waffle was on Chicago’s Best Tv show. Good breakfast stop on the outskirts of downtown Chicago.

This place is just average at best. I took my Mom here on a Sunday…not very crowded .I ordered the healthy skillet which was ready in 5 minutes( I think they put it in the microwave and just gave it to me). I also got the apple cinnamon pancakes which were cold. The service was just ok. They was nice enough to charge me 3 percent to my bill for using a credit card. The only problem was that I was using cash. I had to ask to get that taken off which they did with a little bit of an attitude. They informed me it does that automatically. I recommend people try somewhere else.

We ate here two mornings while we were in Chicago this week. The service is great, and your food comes out so fast! We enjoyed our breakfast so much the first morning we went back the next morning. The coffee was good, we ordered the fruit plate which was fantastic. From oranges, cantaloupe, strawberries, bananas, and pineapple. It was fresh and displayed nicely and definitely enough to share. We enjoyed the waffles, waffles and chicken, eggs and corned beef hash, bacon, sausage. You receive very large portions of food and the prices were reasonable. We would definitely recommend it and will return.

The flight of waffles - small samples of 4-5 different types - are a great idea and were delicious! Avocado toast was also outstanding. Will be back for sure next time we visit!

PROS: I took my family here for lunch, and we ran into a special: 2 bacon waffles with 2 deep fried chicken thighs and bacon for $2.99. Food was great! The place was packed, however we did not have a problem getting a place. Good coffee with free refills. CONS: The music was a little lame, and waitors did not pay very good attention (they brought fried potatoes instead of eggs for my wife, and bacon instead of sausage for me), but everything was tasty nevertheless, so it was not a huge deal. The bill was very reasonable and I will go back and recommend this place to friends.

Excellent! We were able to snag a table around noon on a busy Memorial Day Sunday. Being from out of town and finding Waffles on Youtube, I anticipated a good breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Of course the Bacon Chicken & Waffle were ordered. BIG portion of waffle-goodness. I was able to spot Angelo, the owner and introduced myself, quite a guy! I won't go into it, but THANK YOU ANGELO it was delicious...and the whipped cream was real! Chicago is a great town for waffles/pancakes/donuts and hot dogs! Fear not, go here, but go hungry!

I went with my grandsons to Waffles for breakfast. They loved the pancakes and waffles. I had a typical American breakfast and it was good. One nice thing about this restaurant is that it never is too crowded. I have been there many times and never had to wait to get a table.

We thought that this place was closer to our attraction than it was, but once we started walking we were committed. The place is known for waffles and I wish we would have ordered that because they had some really creative things. There were only three couples there on a mid week early evening. We had burgers and waffle fries and a salad. It was ok and the price was OK. Regretted not having the Waffles for dinner because they looked really creative.

I have eaten at Waffles several times over the years (see my Yelp reviews). This was my third visit, and I decided to get something other than waffles. The banana crepes sounded good: "Our crepes topped with bananas, candied walnuts and whipped cream". What actually came out: crepes topped with bananas and pieces of chives, along with raw pecans. Um. I hate, hate, hate making trouble for servers by sending a meal back. I even tried to eat it, but...chives. And bananas. I could have overlooked the raw not-walnuts...but not freaking chives and bananas together on a plate. There were only a few pieces of chives in there, but it was obvious that someone in the kitchen had chopped up some onions and then used the knife for the bananas as well. The flavor of chive was definitely in there. And I have no idea how the nuts got messed up. I felt horrible about it but had to send it back, and got the liege waffles instead. Once again (see Yelp reviews) they were not prepared correctly and didn't have the sugar inside, and were also very dry and crumbly. My boyfriend also had liege waffles. This restaurant is one of his favorites, yet he agreed that they were not very good. I don't know what's going on at this place, but it seems to be going downhill. People with food allergies, watch out.

After seeing an hour wait at the breakfast place I wanted to visit I ended up coming here since it was closeby. I was starving by that point so it was a relief that they had tables ready to seat us immediately and the food came so quickly. I got the strawberry waffle and scrambled eggs and it was the perfect amount of food to keep me well fed for the day without feeling groggy. Would definitely recommend as a quick, tasty, cheap spot for breakfast.

I loved this place. The freshly squeezed orange juice was not the best, since oranges are crappy, but the food was amazing. I went back and I skipped the tortillas, though. Also, the service can be good or bad.

This was a couples breakfast while the kids slept in. And I have been looking forward to this all weekend and it didn't disappoint. They have the BEST orange juice and waffles ever. The waffles are crisp and moist all at the same time and with the fruit compote just took it to another level. The outdoor patio seating was so great in this Sunday Chicago atmosphere that just went so well with the meal. Wait staff was great and they brought the food out quick. Please make a trip there and enjoy.

It can be tough to find places that serve gluten free pancakes and especially waffles that are good as the regular ones. This place is the truth. The waffles were appropriately crispy and the pancakes were spongy in a good way. The rest of the meal - traditional breakfast - eggs, omelets, bacon, etc...were really good. The service just made it another plus. We tried Yolk first and the line was long - an hour or so - and this place was not far but had awesome food and no wait.

Waffkes offers slow service, cold food, bad coffee. Much better options are available nearby. Try Eleven City Diner or Yolks.

This lovely gem in the south loop is delicious. Indoor/outdoor seating, they make the waffles at the breakfast bar in front of you, and the smells are out of this world. Lots of great choices and they add distinctive flavors to really make it pop. Staff is always on key and moving fast to get that belly full for you.

What a great little place. They were incredibly busy, but don't let that scare you away. They were able to turn a table around for us very quickly and delivered on their promise of delish waffles with a unique twist!

Chicago Waffles is a good place to get consistent tasting waffles and quick service. This location at 1400 S. Michigan is in an area where parking is available and the restaurant is easily accessible.

We visited as we were staying in the neighbourhood. It is good that they offer half portions as they are very generous. We tried half portions of the chicken with waffle, red velvet pancakes and poached egg with potato and sausage. This was our first visit to a waffle place and perhaps we expected too much - it was fine but nothing memorable. The service was very good - we had an attentive waitress and the food cane out promptly.

Best chillaquilles I've had north of the border. Maybe south of the border as well. Good French toast. Breakfast for two around $30

Stopped in here for a quick breakfast before ice skating at millennium park. The prices were a little high for breakfast, but the food was amazing. The delicious food was very filling and they were kind enough to refill our coffee in to go cups before we left to keep us warm as we walked to the park.

Ate here several times during our recent visit to Chicago. Service was very good and the food was above average. The ham steak and egg special was a great deal. The breakfast potatoes were awesome. Tip - if you like your egg whites cooked ask for them cooked medium. If you ask for over easy the whites will still be runny.

Have now been here twice for breakfast. Found the place via an American TV show - so thought we'd give it a go. The food is really lovely, and in terms of portion size and value for money - you won't need to eat again until dinner!

Found this breakfast place on yelp, since i needed someplace cheap and close to hotel. This is an amazing place to have waffles, the waffles menu is extensive. Cheddar waffle with short rib, omg, i just died, and the bacon waffle with chicken, WOW..you need to check this place out..Jovana is the nicest waitress of all.

My son and I ate breakfast here on our way to the Field Museum. The menu had many unique variations on classic breakfast items. My son ordered the Duck Benedict. Instead of being served on English muffins, it was served on waffles. He absolutely loved it. I ordered the Healthy Breakfast. The food was delicious, but there was so much I wasn't able to finish it all. My meal included walnut pancakes with bananas. They were excellent. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the amount of food we received. Keep in mind that this restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch and closes during the late afternoon. This restaurant is on Michigan Avenue and is convenient for anyone who may be walking to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium or planetarium if they are staying in the South Loop area of Chicago. I would highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast. My son asked them if they could open a location in our city because he loved their food that much.

Went on a Friday morning and the full size chicken & waffles meal was a special for only $3.99! Our group was skeptical, but ordered it anyways and it was delicious and a huge portion. The service here was excellent - we were greeted and seated immediately, our server was very helpful and coffees were continuously filled. It was also incredibly fast service for our group of 5. Would return!

We visited this establishment because of a restaurant.com coupon. It was a little south of the main Chicago attractions but worth the visit. Our food was tasty (I had the assortment of different flavored waffles; my wife had eggs) and the service was friendly and attentive.

This place is small and crowded, but worth the wait. Waffles, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches and potatoes. Omelettes are made with 3 eggs cooked anyway you'd like. The atmosphere is very casual and loud. We were all very happy and full after eating here.

Caught this place on "Unique Sweets" and made a point to visit the next time I was in Chicago. While the atmosphere was super cute and the service was fantastic, the food was mediocre. Maybe my expectations were too high from watching the show, which would be my own fault. But I ordered the waffle flight and everything tasted more or less the same - really sugary and a little cold.

Honestly this place is on my list of favorite restaurants. I ate their pancakes and it was amazing. My brother says their French toast is the best and their waffles are good. I heard minor complaints on the coffee from my dad but that may be just a personal preference. Amazing breakfast restaurant, it was even open on Christmas!

We were visiting Chicago to attend a Cubs game. We came with a big appetite and still could not finish it. I had the Chicken Bacon Waffles with savory syrup. I really liked them a lot, but did not care for green onions. The waitress recommended cinnamon swirl French toast for my husband. Included bananas, whipped cream and syrup. Said it was the best he had ever had. Be sure to order the fresh fruit plate. For $5.00, it is a steal and so refreshing. The bathrooms sparkled. Parking on street was easy to find.

We used a restaurant.com certificate. They do have a kids menu, but they get you on the kids drinks. The food was very good. It was a nice place to stop before heading to Shedd Aquarium.

The food here was absolutely great and so was our server! Food was fresh and came out very fast from the kitchen. I had the red velvet French toast and it was amazing! Large portions and a good price. You can also use restaurant.com gift certificates there as well

Went with a friend for Saturday breakfast around 1030am. Both ate for total under $19. Friendly staff, recommend if in the South Loop area.

After having spent far too much time the previous day looking for restaurants that were much too far away from our hotel in McCormick Place, I decided to ask the concierge for a list of nearby restaurants, which she obliged. We needed to get to the Shedd Aquarium early, and were hoping to eat a nice breakfast first. I figured that a place called "Waffles" would probably be open at 8 am, and it looked very close to the Museum Campus. We drove over to the restaurant and found (relatively) cheap and easy street parking. I breathed a sigh of comfort and relief as we sat in the cafe and listened to Reggaeton/Latin pop. The service was the best I'd had in the city-- so prompt and accommodating. The restaurant serves Intelligentsia coffee, which is great, and the server even offered to give me a refill to-go at the end of our visit. Our food was delicious breakfast food... Waffles and sausage and eggs and pancakes and breakfast potatoes with plenty of syrup and fresh whipped cream. Couldn't have asked for a better way to start a very long day. Thanks, Waffles!

The Liege Waffle is a small, dough-based waffle. It is served with fresh strawberries, whipped heavy cream, and syrup. What we really liked about it was that it was a very small serving, about the size of an English Muffin. We also ordered eggs, Sunny-side-up, sausage, coffee, and OJ. The eggs were under-cooked; sunny-side-up is supposed to have the white completely cooked, and the yellow not. The white was not cooked. I would have returned it but the waitress never returned to our table, not even to refill the coffee. The restaurant was empty so I loudly asked her to get us more coffee--she was sitting at the counter flipping through a magazine. The other waitress came over and said our waitress was having a hard morning. Gee, I'm really sorry about that. Instead of my usual 20-25% tip, she earned a whopping 10%.

Very good waffles! A bit on the pricey side, I think. Service was good and it's convenient, right on Michigan Ave.

After a couple days of convention center food, we were ready for a yummy breakfast. There were so many excellent choices on the menu that it was hard to choose. We enjoyed the waffle flight, a healthy breakfast skillet, a breakfast burrito and the red velvet pancakes. Every meal was huge and we even had enough left overs to feed us for the next day when we needed to be up and out early. Rarely would I look forward to breakfast leftovers, but the skillet was just as awesome on day 2.

I have wanted to try this restaurant in Chicago, but never get around to it. Glad we finally did this trip. We were there on a weekday, so couldn't pass up the $4.99 chicken and waffle special. It is usually $13.99 So good! Waffle has bacon cooked into it and it is topped with fried chicken strips. Many things on the menu sound good and everything we saw go by looked good. I will definitely be going back next trip!

This place is just a few blocks from where I live. There was a lot of anticipation when they announced their opening a few years ago, and the place has lived up to the hype since then. Over the weekends, it's common to see people waiting outside. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. My family and foodie friends have been impressed with their food and service as well. They are able to accommodate larger groups and small children, a big plus for a casual restaurant. I have tried several of their waffles, but they also excel in their non-waffles offerings. My recommendation is: get waffles if that's what drew you here in the first place, else order with confidence whatever else catches your fancy. It's hard to go wrong at Waffles!

Very good breakfast every time. I've tried every waffle and all are excellent. The service is very good. Great place for a family as well. We had family in town and they could accomodate a party of 15. They even allowed us to bring our own bubbly and they provided the fresh squeezed orange juice. They also do lunch and just started dinner service this week.

Between the 6 of us ( including 2 teens) we switched it up everyday. We probably had every breakfast dish there was! Awesome food, but the chicken and bacon waffles for 5.99$ was my favourite!

I had the short rib waffle and I'd it was hot it would have been great! Other dishes at our table were the chocolate waffle, the flight, and the Cuban sandwich. Everyone was happy the chocolate had frozen strawberries and was more like a dessert. Slightly pricey but they have a group and a restaurant.com coupon out there. I said no for Sunday because there was a30 minute outside wait and 15 minutes top order. I arrived at 12:15 we finished at 2:25!!

Had a sunday brunch there... positives? The service was excellent. Coffee was kept filled and the food came out promptly. The atmosphere could use some help but wasn't terrible. They DO have some nice seating outside as an option. Unfortunately the food was lousy. We went with the straight up belgian and the waffle sandwiches. You would think the bread and butter menu item of a place called "waffles" would be done perfectly and they'd know how to cook a waffle. Both came out soggy and flavorless. Overall, there are too many choices to return.

While attending a trade show at McCormick Place my associates and I decided to eat at this place, and we loved it so much we ate there three days in a row! The food is excellent and the waffles are simply delicious! They are light and airy inside and the flavor is perfect. They serve lemon water with your meal and the staff is friendly, attentive, and really great! There is street "pay parking" right out front and free parking on the side streets. Three of us ate like kings for about $25.00 per day, and that was a great deal for the quality of the food and generous portions! When I am back in Chicago on business this will be my "go to" breakfast spot for sure. Give this restaurant a try you will love the food!

We were in Chicago for three days for work and our hotel suggested a couple of places for us to try, this one being one of them. We were not disappointed. We went on a busy Saturday and had a short wait for a table, but the place was packed and bustling! With that being said, we had coffee right away, and our orders, once placed, were to us in no time! The entire wait staff was friendly, efficient and on top of their tables. It made us feel like part of the neighborhood eating with families, couples and other locals, and was such an amazing experience (not only the red/white/blue crepes I had were awesome) but we came back again on Monday before we flew out. The place was sedate compared to Saturday but my boyfriend had an enormous egg and ham steak breakfast for the amazing price of $4.99! Unbelievable! I will definitely be back when I am in Chicago again, and may even try the waffles next time!

Went here with my baby sis to enjoy some breakfast after a long work week. Food is great. Atmosphere is great too. I had cinnamon roll french toast and turkey sausage. Delicious. Baby sis had the breakfast skillet and her food was awesome. The space was kinda small but the service was very quick. We were there on a Friday morning. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast. Seating is good for small medium or large groups. I saw a couple tables that could seat a party of about 10 or 12. I have not tried the lunch menu yet but I do plan on going back. Treat yourself to breakfast! You deserve it!🥞🥓

We ate here today for lunch for Thanksgiving on the way to the Field Museum. We had our big meal scheduled for the evening so this was supposed to be just a small, light lunch to hold us over....HA! Opened until 2pm today (many places closed), seated right away by a super friendly server, extensive menu, DELICIOUS waffles and large portions! Teen son ordered the Rueben sandwich which was fine, but the stars were the two waffle dishes- duck and poached eggs over waffles and pumpkin waffles. The duck and poached egg was SO GOOD! Two small waffles each topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce with a side of sliced cantaloupe and pineapple. Prices were great! I asked if there were other Chicago Waffle locations and our server told us they were opening a second location in just two weeks. So happy we decided to visit.

This place surprised me as I had no expectations being a local small restaurant, but the menu is pretty extensive and they even have gluten free options, large portions and great price.

I highly recommend Chicago Waffle if you are in downtown Chicago. The waffles were light and the chicken was crispy on the outside yet moist and tender on the inside. The fried potatoes were delicious as well as the omelet. I highly recommend this place. You definitely get your monies worth.

I was hoping for better food, ended up eating waffles and fried chicken. Never again. Its probably just the combination, as the food was hot and tasted okay. Just not particularly healthy and i regretted it later.

Dined on a Saturday at noon. Pretty busy but seated quickly. Took a few minutes to be seen by server. Once order placed food was out quickly thereafter. Pumpkin waffles, maple bacon sausage, potatoes all very good. Husband had Nutella pancakes with full breakfast and enjoyed. Portions are huge. Consider one person ordering full breakfast and other getting another entree. It’s plenty for 2. Service is good. Water glasses always filled. Prices are reasonable. Enjoyable brunch.

Great food at an amazing price. Service was good and the food was super fresh. Would definitely eat here again and recommend it to others to try!

I arrived at Chicago Waffle at/near 1:30 and my family arrived shortly after. Starting with the waitress: She was extra nice and kind, very helpful at multiple levels, which is why I happily gave her a $12.00 tip. Only improvement she could have done was to ensure hotter coffer, it was too warm to my taste. However, upon request she did provide me with a very hot cup of coffee, problem solved. Feedback on the Food and other staff: The food could have been MORE hotter, as my baked or smothered potatoes, from ordering a skillet, were not hot, more like a tad above warm. I did not want to complain or send it back so I did not mention that I would have enjoyed more hotter food. Next: The restaurant closes at 3pm. I was aware of that prior to selecting this restaurant. The real issues to me began at this point: After I paid my bill and tip, the service went to an all-time low. It was 2:40pm (which I checked my cell phone time) - A guy walked up to the TV that we were sitting directly under and was clearly watch and turned it off (but left the TV near the BAR on). This guy did not say one word to me or my family, he just turned it off. He did not bother to put two words together to say, “May I turn off this TV, if you are not watching it?” He said nothing to us at all. Again, it is 2:40pm. As he walked away, I said, “ Excuse me Sir, we were still watching the TV.” He said, “We are about to close at 3pm.” I said, “We are still customers, plus it is not technically 3pm, can you please turn the TV back on?” He honored my request with an attitude. About 2 minutes went by and he then began to clean the floors and tables, which is understandable. However I did not appreciate or expect this guy to start sweeping the floors right up next to my table were we were still clearing eating. Have he ever heard of air floating dust, traveling lint! Next he started mopping the floor all around us, and on top of that he mop had an bad order/smell, that even my child instantly said, "Mom, what is that smell, it stinks." It was not a smell you wanted to smell while eating food! The guy had a clear disposition on him like we (my family) were no longer welcomed to finish enjoying our meal without any interruptions. His body language spoke very well by saying, “It is time to go and I am not planning to say one half of a second over 3:00pm!” We actually exited the restaurant at 2:58pm, not a moment past 3:00pm. This was the very first time we ate at this restaurant and we felt grossly disrespected at multiple levels, for no reason. This was reported today to Restaurant.com, which we were using our $100 gift certificate from them. Date of visiting Chicago Waffle, 1400 S. Michigan Ave: 6/12/2019.

I eat here almost every Sunday morning. Best waffles in the city. A neighborhood place. We see families, young adults, police officers and if we dine outside, Many other factors must be considered to answer your question with an answer it deserves. Dogs. Love this restaurant.

5 star, great Service from Nick, very welcoming and food was great and large portions. Would go again, except I would probably not order 2 dishes again lol.

We were anxious to try Waffles based on the featured segment on "Unique Eats." I really wanted to love their breakfast options, but the quartet of samples was mediocre at best. Thankfully, my partner encouraged me to order the albondigas waffle, which was outstanding. Served on a chiuahua cheese waffle, the meatballs and sauce were perfectly balanced; the overall dish, inventive and special. As we paid our bill, I took a second look at their savory options. We'll be back... for lunch or dinner.

We went here on our last morning in Chicago for breakfast and will definitely be back. Great service and great waffles! We loved this experience for our last breakfast!

The restaurant had written signs up saying there was no heat and only take out orders were being served. We noticed people seated though and entered the restaurant anyway. We were told we could be seated but there was still no heat. During our meal we noticed more and more patrons entering and deciding to sit and dine there anyway. It’s a good sign when folks will choose the food over the comfort. Everyone kept their coats on and the place was near full. We ordered hot tea (hot water was brought in small carafes), waffles, and eggs your way. Portions were big, and we almost cleared our plates. Pancakes were cold, but all the other hot food we also ordered didn’t make it a big issue. Recommend for variety of food, portions, and taste. Would return.

We ate breakfast here based on a recommendation from our local friend who joined us. While waffles are their apparent speciality, the three of us chose more traditional dishes such as corned beef hash; it was average in quality although the portions were huge with eggs and toast. Just south of Loop and easily accessible by red line subway south or a hefty walk.

I had a groupon for a meal for two. My wife had an omelet she enjoyed and I had the Waffle Benedict which was fantastic -- pulled pork, eggs and hollindaise on a sweet waffle. The price was about right at 19 bucks for 2.

I was so excited about coming to this place because I saw it on the cooking channel. The experience was just okay. I ordered the red velvet waffles and a side of turkey sausage and it was ok. The presentation was great, but I was so dissappointed. I can't explain why. It just seemed like something was missing. I think maybe next time I will order the basic waffle with whip cream and strawberries.

I read the good, the bad, and the ugly on this restaurant and decided to go. It was a perfect snow storm, so we knew that traffic would be light and we found parking right in front. We paid $3.00 for 2 hours. I had some great waffles sold from a street vendor in NY and somehow thought this would compare. I also thought the green tea, red velvet, mexican chocolate and other interesting flavored waffles would be awesome to try. Well the results are in...I just didn't taste the flavors of any of them. The green tea, tasted burnt. The mexican chocolate had no taste. The red velvet was tastless as well. All were doughy and seemed undercooked. If I only could have tasted what my eyes were seeing. I will say the highlights were the toppings, that's about it. I will just stick to making my own waffles at home. It seems as though all effort was put into the presentation, but not the product.

Looking for a quick Chicken and Waffles experience in Chicago... and Waffles was suggested. We were apprehensive because of the mixed reviews... but decided to give it a try. It's on a quieter side of the city ...residential. We took a chance on Waffles and was pleasantly surprised. It was a good filling Brunch experience. First, Any BYOB is a plus for New Yorkers. To have a restaurant that encourages you to bring your bottle and enjoy is A+ in our book. The menu selection is pretty straight forward ( Breakfast or Lunch items) and the waiter was pleasant and helpful. We decided on Red Velvet Waffles w/ Chicken (2 piece dark chicken) and Chocolate Waffles with a Chicken Breast. Both entrees were served promptly and were delicious. I really don't understand such mixed reviews! We arrived on a Sunday morning about 11 am and the place was packed. Water and coffee was promptly refilled as well. It's not the best Chicken and Waffles I've had, but the experience was pleasant, moderately priced and you can bring you own bottle of whatever ($5.00 fee).

Inexpensive, comfortable, & DELICIOUS! What else do you need?!?! I will return on a weekly basis! The service is great. Everyone is engaged and making sure you are okay even the servers that are not assigned to your table. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back. The food reminds me of back home! LOVE IT!

My friends & I went twice during our 3 day stay in Chicago. We all had different types of waffles the first day. I am glad to see that they had a healthy option with Heart Healthy waffles. I did have to add some syrup even though it came with the yogurt. I tasted the Green Tea waffles which was really good. The second visit I ate the chicken salad sandwich which was really good. They didn't split the check like we asked but once we got to the counter to pay, they split it up easily and they didn't seem to mind at all. That made the overall experience very nice & to go twice!!

It’s a struggle to find gluten free breakfast options along S. Michigan. Chicago Waffle was my go to for GF pancake or waffle. The Belgian waffle I tried was yummy and made of rice flour. The 2nd visit I had GF pancakes. I had 4 pancakes and they were also yummy. Brewed Coffee and latte were also great. Great service, friendly staff, reasonable price! Upcharge for GF is only $1-2.

Food was good! Service was excellent. Server was very nice and attentive. The restaurant runs a Breakfast special which is very affordable.

Loved loved loved this place! The restaurant is cute, clean, and fun. Staff is attentive and friendly. And the food is to die for! They have many options ranging from traditional to edgy breakfast plates. So so good. Can't wait to go back!

This was my first time at Chicago Waffles. . I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Amy, my server, who I found to be charming, very professional, & respectful. Visit Chicago Waffles just to meet Amy who will set the tone for the rest of your stay & day. Amy knows how to attract new customers & keep existing ones who keep coming back. I know I will be back shortly.

If you love waffles this is your place. I got the blue berry compote with waffles and fried chicken...my husband got the cinnamon roll waffles. Delicious. We split a side of potato and onions. It was served with a house aioli ....so good. Service was great and the place had a chill vibe for a busy restaurant...

Was very excited to try this place and am still happy I did. Ordered a trio of waffles benedict. All 3 eggs were overcooked to the point the yolks were dried out. Waffles were also very dry, almost like they were cooked earlier and have been sitting in a warmer. Overall the dish needed lots of liquid poured on it to re-moisturize it. Their flavor selections were neat and there is a bit to choose from. Give it a try and see if your luckier than me.

Had breakfast here w/ friends. The Bacon & Chicken waffle was good. Reasonably priced. The menu does state the prices are even more affordable Monday thru Friday.

My biggest pet peeve is having to ask for a drink refill. Not only did my coffee cup stay full, but the waitress asked me if I'd like more sour cream for my potato pancakes. Her attentiveness to the table was superb. The food was very good. The coffee was also excellent - sometimes restaurant coffee is too weak.

Really nice breakfast spot. Lots of waffle options as well as other options. The waffles were incredible. We had the heart healthy waffles, the cinnamon rolls waffles, the special waffles with ice cream and the salmon plate. Would recommend all of them. Service was fantastic and the food came out so quickly. My only criticism was their limited selection of hot tea. Would highly recommend this place - especially if you like waffles. (Obviously).

My husband and I had breakfast here last Sunday and I should have known better to order waffles. His Belgium Waffles were wonderful. The wait staff was amazing and couldn't do enough to make you happy. I asked if they could make me a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy and they were very accommodating. I still wish I had ordered the waffles and will have go to back.

OMG Matcha waffle with candied ginger and pistachios. Who even thinks of this amazing recipe! Just try it! Great link sausages. Kids said the Nutella pancakes “were the best I ever had” and the cinnamon apple pancakes were very good tasty

Great food, great service, great price! Stopped in for lunch, pleasantly surprised... easy, fast, clean. Will return!

Dear Waffles, The last couple times my wife and I have visited Waffle’s in South Loop with guests we enjoyed it. Food was good and warm, service was great, and the restaurant was clean. It was also only 2 blocks walking from where we live. I really wish I would have read the reviews prior to my visit last night. Let me share my experience with you on 7-24-2013. Right now I am still laughing and somewhat disappointed from what I witnessed last night. We arrived at 6pm and it was the last day for our Groupon. The server screamed at us (in a nice voice) to just grab a table with a menu on it. There weren’t many tables that had menus so we grabbed a 2 seat table close to the door. There were plenty of tables with dirty dishes just left on the table with flies hovering over them. It was really gross. So, the 1 waiter, server, hostess, checkout clerk, and salad / dessert maker finally was able to get to our table at 6:15pm and get us drinks. He informed us they were busy and it was only him and the chef and he was really breathing heavy from running all over the place. We each got ice tea. Then we just sat there in complete shock and laughed the whole time. We saw a couple just walk out without getting their dessert; people were going behind the counter to fill drinks, and get syrup and to go containers and bags. It was really funny, and somewhat disappointing. The waiter locked the doors at 6:25pm and people were still trying to get in. He told them they stopped seating at 6:30pm, although it didn’t say that anywhere on the website and the website claims to close at 7pm. He eventually let them in. The phone was then ringing off the hook with people standing outside calling trying to get in. Finally we got our food at 7pm with a total of 35 people in the restaurant. Did I already say there was only 1 server for over 30 people? Our food was cold because it sat on the counter while the 1 person working there tried to explain how they stopped seating at 6:30pm, and he was busy cashing out everyone(which took him forever) at the cash register. My dish arrived with the house salad on it, with no dressing. Nothing like raw dry salad, tomato, and onions with no dressing. I felt like a rabbit. My wife got the fish and she didn’t get her salad. We would walk up and get our own drinks. Finally at 7:20 pm we were able to talk to the one person running the place and told him about the salad. By that time it was too late. We also got dessert with our Groupon which he boxed up for us, with no watermelon. We were out of there 1.5 hours later at 7:30pm with a completely disappointing meal, but somewhat entertaining meal. My wife is still waiting on her salad. Honestly…Where was management and ownership? The waiter said this happens every time on the last day of a Groupon, and his manager was off. He was hung out to dry. I’m confused why a manager wouldn’t be working on the busiest evening of the week. Is the manager honestly that naive to not PLAN or think it’s going to be busy on the last day of a Groupon? I would love an explanation as to why they wouldn’t plan for this and their rationale behind it. Is this some new type of thinking that I don’t know about? Food quality and service was horrible, but it was entertaining. Needless to say…No more trips to Waffle’s for me and my family and friends. We will be going to YOLK or BONGO ROOM a couple blocks away for Sunday brunch next week. They are much better options than Waffle's. It’s unfortunate because the last couple of times we brought friends to Waffle’s it was a decent experience. I really wish I would have read the online reviews prior to going. Mark

The food was good but everything else was not. The drinks from the bar took really long. One of our party was gluten free. The first time, they brought the order with gluten in it. The second time they brought it, it was after all three others had finished their breakfast. Then, to top that off, they charged us twice for the waffle. Really poor.

Great food, gave so much and the quality was great. Tasted excellent, and gave so much. Was very cheap as well! The best part was how long it took for our food to arrive. After ordering we received our meals no more than 10 minutes later. Great 10/10

Who knew waffles could be this good. They made both the light/Brussels style and the yeastier Liege" style. A cheddar cheese waffle with braised short ribs---stupid good.. The benedict combo--3 mini waffles with steak, salmon and pulled pork, each topped with a poached egg.. Fresh fruit options, vegan options. Go try 'em. Who knew?

Tad expensive but you get a LOT of food!! The food is really good! The pancakes as a side is a great option!

This place have one of the best chicken and waffles in the United States. Even though parking is very limited, the taste of the food and the courteous staff makes up for the difference. The only issue I had was the fact that the manager on duty that day was not very friendly. He took took long to cash us out, but overall we had a wonderful experience at the restaurant.

$92, 6 people. It was all cold food. Cinnamon Apple Waffles not cooked throughly...Apples on top we cold....colder than the Whipped Cream. 12 Chocolate Chips pieces on the Pancakes. But the pancakes were not hot enough to soften them. So we ate them and left the cold pancakes! Don't pay 20% (mandatory) tip for this type of food and service! Horrible!

I had a bus pass so I could get off and on without repaying so I stopped here on my way to the basketball game at Wintrust. Both were in an area that was rundown when I left Chicago 26 years ago, but it's in an up and coming place to be now. I had a turkey burger and water plus waffle fries, of course. I sat at the counter and received great service from all. Natasha S was my primary server per the receipt. I used the bathroom upon arrival and departure and found a clean facility. Everything was very good here. I would definitely put it as a possible place to return on a future Chicago visit if I'm in this part of town!

Excellent service! Fresh squeezed oj and the waffles were perfect!! We enjoyed this little stop and will return on the trip!

Delicious breakfast food with friendly fast service. While my daughter and I ate here, I saw many people come in and be seated almost immediately. We were also seated immediately. This business does a great job of keeping the flow moving. The restaurant is not huge but the staff still manages to keep up with the demand. I was impressed. Highly recommend the waffle breakfast sandwich!

I've never been to an all-waffle breakfast place before, and Waffles certainly delivered. The restaurant is set up in a casual diner format, with garish bright colors on the interior. There are about two dozen waffle options on the menu, varying by what's in the waffle and what's on the waffle. The "Leige Waffle" that I had was incredibly light, fluffy and tasty. I would love to go back here over and over again to try all the different kinds. I was here on a Sunday, and the service was not very good. The host didn't pay much attention to me and they were slow at times (this seemed to be more a lack of staff than a lack of effort). Still, the concept and food are so good that I don't want to deduct for that. The prices are a bit higher than a chain like IHOP, but the waffles are a lot better and it's still not very expensive.

We frequent this establishment and it is a great place we share when friends and family come in from out of town. Our last visit was this past July, and we brought some of our friends from the suburbs with us. I had one of my favorites this time steak and eggs. My wife and friends had waffles and waffles benedict. As always my steak was prepared as requested, the eggs were great, and the small half potatoes were crispy and delicious. Others in my party this time also found their food to be outstanding. This restaurant is close to my heart in many ways. I have one suggestion, as on a couple visits before we felt a bit uncomfortable due to the fact we arrived within an hour of closing. As in most new establishments, training can be an ongoing process. After our order was taken, our server became distant. We also had to ask someone else for refills on our drinks and our bill. It was uncomfortable to brag about this place to our friends and have the service fall short before my eyes. Please Owner/Chef, review the training where the customer comes first. You have excellent food in a great location. I'm sure near closing time everyone wants to get home to their families. (As they should!). Maybe your best people person should be there at closing to keep smiles on your staff and customers faces. I would recommend your restaurant to anyone. The food is always great and on the majority of our visits the service was friendly and efficient. With the South Loop presently growing by leaps and bounds, I hope my review will help you sure up what is already an outstanding destination near our home.

How can you beat a place that offers a waffle flight? You can't! The waffles are amazing and try the chilaquiles, delicious. Service is friendly and fast. Great coffee, too!

My wife and me were out and about and needed a quick lunch. We were within a block of Waffles, we stopped in and we were not disappointed. The service was quick and attention to detail was excellent. We will return.

Visited first thing on a weekday morning with my grade school age boys during a mini vacation. We were one of two tables at about 730am. Cool and casual atmosphere, kind of a hip little place but still very comfortable to bring kids to. Lots of choices on the menu, even for kids meals. Food came up quick, and seriously delicious. Coffee was strong and hot. Our waitress was prompt, attentive, and so very kind. Prices are reasonable for Chicago. When we're in the area, we will be back for sure.

We had brunch here on a Saturday via a Groupon offer. The deal was for two entrées and a "hot chocolate flight". This is located in the south loop. With all the options available now to eat brunch on the weekends this definitely does not rate among the best. The service was so so. The so-called hot chocolate flight was simply hot chocolate put in three tiny cups with whip cream on top of them. I got an omelette with mushrooms, which were clearly from a can and not fresh. My husband's omelette was definitely not made with fresh eggs, but instead an egg mix. We eat out a lot and have a good sense of what good service is – when you're not really welcomed at the door, when they don't go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable, when they don't check up on your table regularly, when they don't clear away dirty dishes, and when the servers are indifferent – and the food average – you might as well go somewhere else to eat.

Brunch was pretty standard, which was exactly what I needed, prices were fine But I don't think I've ever been anywhere where the food was SO INCREDIBLY FAST Seated super quick. Order taken as soon as we were ready. Food ready so fast we thought at first it was someone else's order by mistake. Every time we needed anything someone appeared instantly and got it for us immediately. All without hovering

We had an early lunch and weren't in the mood for breakfast food which, in retrospect, wasn't a great idea since it is a restaurant known for its waffles! (Duh!) The chopped salad was actually very good--fresh with a good variety of greens, veggies, hard boiled egg, bacon and ham, crumbled cheese and a light vinaigrette. The steak and eggs were very disappointing, or I should more specifically say, the steak. The menu described it as a strip steak, and it was, at most, a tough and chewy skirt steak. The eggs were cooked nicely, and the roasted potatoes (fluffy inside with crisp skins) were a unique and tasty touch...but the steak was like raw hide. The atmosphere is very casual, open with the kitchen visible to the dinners...but very noisy. Great coffee--Intelligensia!

First, this place has a cool and trendy vibe and the staff is awesome! They had a $3.99 chicken & waffle special! IT WAS HUGE! Two huge waffles and TWO HUGE gorgeously fried chicken strips and a perfect piece of bacon on top! The two grown men that I was with could not finish the entire thing! I is an awesome deal! I had the $11 Veggie omelet that came with a side of potatoes with onions and TWO pancakes! I never touched my pancakes and could only eat almost half of my omelet! We were very happy with our meal at Waffles! I would say that it's a must try! My advice - get the chicken and waffles!

I tried the Bacon Chicken Waffles and the food looked pleasing aesthetically but lack season and flavor. The bacon in the waffle batter was under cooked and the chicken was flavorless! My daughter had the pound French Toast which was a dry slice of pound cake and berries on top. She eats everything but didn’t like this at all. I tried but will not go back.

Based on the recommendation of our server, we got the waffle flight - a taste of 4 different waffles. What a treat. The chocolate one was just ok. The Red Velvet was amazing!!!

We looked forward to the waffles at this place all trip. However the setting is a little "industrial" and is a bit out of the way. Food was okay but we wont rush back

Try the flight of waffles. Delicious!! Got a discount thru AARP. Greta place for breakfast before he art institute.

We stumbled upon Waffles when looking for a place to eat breakfast. It was walking distance to the Hilton Chicago. In all honesty, we didn't want waffles, so we almost didn't go in. The owners/servers were so friendly, we couldn't resist! We had a great egg scramble and were very happy. The waffles we did see looked amazing.

I was glad that I found it close to my hotel because my daughter wants to have waffle for breakfast. My order was perfect ! They have differents options for a great price and a nice service.

Service was great and the food was very good (but watch out for the huge portions!). The noise level Saturday morning was a lot higher than Friday morning. On street parking only.

Sparsely decorated with wooden benches this establishment located on S. Michigan Ave and 14th close to the south loop serves great tasting food. Chicken crispy and the Belgian waffles cooked through. Combination of bacon, chicken, and waffle with scallions and spicy sauce is a must try. Service is quick Prices are very reasonable

Good brunch food here. Ordered the bacon waffles. Thought that would be the best of both worlds. Bacon was in the waffle batter. It wasn't too terrible unless you got a piece of fatty bacon. I ordered the regular syrup with it though. I believe it comes with some spicy syrup of some sort. My husband got an omelet that came with sides. Plenty of food! He ordered a cappuccino, which tasted awful. Tasted burnt and had entirely too much foam. I opted to play it safe with juice. Overall, I would eat here again but choose a different meal.
Waffles
The food was AMAZING! Try them it will not disappoint. Loved their tea and my kids really enjoyed the red velvet cake waffles.
