Local owned - great food

By Julie E |

Service was great. Clean friendly atmosphere. Food was different and really good - would definitely go back. We all ordered different dishes and all enjoyed

Delicious, cool, great service

By Graeme M |

We were hankering for Mexican lunch on Saturday that was within a walk somewhere between our hotel and the downtown historic district. Chimalma made sense and it did not disappoint. The service was welcoming and prompt, and wonderfully sustained during our time. We started with chips and guacamole and they happily accommodated our desire for salsa. There’s a full assortment of tacos available, but I went for the chicken enchilada with mole sauce. Delicious and enough to fuel me for afternoon touristy things. We have another lunch slot to fill before we fly home, and we’ll definitely make a repeat lunch, it is that good.

Great Lunch

Came here for lunch after we visited JFK exhibit. We could eat inside or out and felt safe with the restaurant’s COVID preparations. The menu was fine and the food, was above average and not expensive. We were offered a cup of soup before we ordered from Pancho. There service here was very good. The ambiance of the place was a cut above what you might expect. Overall, good experience and very good food.

Dissatisfied with the TACO BAR

By Alexandria |

Did not even taste the food because their prices are outrageous I sat down ordered nachos received four single chips for the most ridiculous amount this place needs to be shut down immediately because what they're doing in the downtown Dallas district area is ridiculousI would not eat here ever again my friend had enchiladas which was only two rolled up tortillas with a spoonful of rice for a ridiculous price. We were so dissatisfied we had to go eat somewhere else.😡☹️

Excellent

Food was excellent! Our group tried at least one of every taco and each one was outstanding. Great downtown location. The staff were super friendly and inviting. We will definitely go back whenever we are in Dallas again.

Nice stop for lunch after visit to Museums Great service staff and food is fine and of good quality Good size meals and plenty of choice in menu, only thing ordering and could not use the wifi so check menu

Don’t eat here if you are out of your 20’s. A recommendation from the manager!

By Sonorafireman |

The service was awful, our server must have been son of Houdini. I had beef tacos. The meat was so though I could not chew, I called it to the attention of our server, he asked me, if I could have chewed it when I was 20. I am 75, I told him I don’t think my two year old dog could have made a dent. They also changed me with something We never received. Took forever to get our bill corrected. I would not eat here if you are over 20, and a computer wiz.

Great experience!

What a great find this was. We were simply looking for a place close to the museum but I would travel back specifically for this restaurant. This style of Mexican food is fresh and modern and absolutely delicious. Amazing cocktails as well. Kevin was our bartender and was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. A couple of great options for vegans such as myself. This is a relatively new place and everyone should visit so we can keep them around!

Below average food

Food was okay, below average in quality and quantity, especially for what you pay. We had asada tacos. They were fine. Nothing special, but nothing terrible. The rice was below average. Just a disappointment all the way around.

Authentic Tacos in Downtown Dallas!

By David N |

What a joy to find authentic tacos in Downtown Dallas a block from Dealey Plaza! After having guacamole and chips as an appetizer, I thoroughly enjoyed the asada tacos on homemade blue corn tortillas expertly seasoned with salsa , onions, and cilantro. The size of each taco was slightly smaller than one might be accustomed to, but the quality is excellent and the three taco plate accompanied with salad and rice was quite filling. I found this to be a well-run establishment with attentive staff and friendly service. I may go back tomorrow to try the Mole enchiladas!

Great food and nice atmosphere

Wow. Where do I even start? Ambiance was fun, service was amazing, and the food! I had the Globo Minuto, which was perfectly spiced red snapper with a side of rice. Then I indulged in the piña colada cake with a pipette of tequila! It was amazing-perfect texture and just sweet enough. Come for a cocktail and stay for an experience.

Excellent food with many options for my pescatarian daughter! The decor was fun and the service was excellent. Blue corn tortillas too!

Not your average taco bar. Exceeds expectations!

By Kayla M |

Simple, yet delicious menu of fresh, gourmet-style tacos and entrees to choose from. Freshly made blue corn tortillas are to die for. Vegan & vegetarian options abound: Tacos al pastor de soya are the closest & best vegetarian version of this taco I’ve had so far. I also love that they came out with a little cup of lentil soup before we even ordered. Such a cute spot and in close proximity to Dealey Plaza museum.

Best of everything!

Fabulous everything! Soup, queso, nachos, margaritas and service were top notch! Everything was so delicious and our waitress Christine was the best! I had Pancho nachos but others had brisket and asada tacos and everything was so good! I would highly recommend this place and will come back when in Dallas again.

Outstanding Taco Bar

By John R |

What a surprise. At a recent meeting in Dallas we found few restaurants open in the Reunion district. Chimalma was walking distance from our hotel and we sort of happened upon it. The food was excellent, very fresh and very nice presentation. The price was extremely reasonable and the value high. In addition, the service was warm and friendly. Great Margarita's too. We liked it so much, we went back a second night on our stay. Our server, Ruth, was so attentive and made sure we had everything we wanted. In these days, this quality of food and service is unusual, greatly appreciated, and far beyond our expectations. If we had been in Dallas a few more days, we probably would have returned for a third visit. Thanks and kudos, to Ruth and the entire staff at Chimalma!

Thrilled to find this place our first couple of days in Dallas!

We found this place on a rainy chilly day in Dallas. We were brought a warm cup of soup to our delight. It was delicious. Our waitress was Ruth. She went out of her way to make to give us a 5 star experience at her restaurant. Thank you, Ruth!! We loved it so much we came an additional two times during our trip. Thank you to Chimalma Taco Bar! Thank you, Ruth! You are a terrific waitress!

Blue corn tortillas... delicious

By Baysinger |

We were with a large group 5 kids, 6 adults. It's a small interior, and not very busy at the time. For my family, the asada tacos were the best. I liked the fish tacos. The queso was unique with spinach in the mix. The kids ate it up. Some of the adults in our group enjoyed the drink specials. One mom raved about the ceviche appetizer. We had a really great time together as our last night in Dallas. I recommend this place. It's on the same block as the JFK memorial. Bright yellow umbrellas.

Amazing tacos. Don’t miss this place!

These tacos were so good. Perfectly flavored with a nice balance of acidity. The house made hot sauce was amazing. Try the carnitas tacos. So delicious!
