China Delight offers all of the regular basics on a Chinese menu, and all of the food is good but not exceptional. It's also inexpensive, and the service is awesome. I've been going here a couple of times a month for many years, and the owner always greets you with a smile and a welcome. Try the specials when available, and they will spice up your dish to your liking as well!

The best Chinese food I have ever had was in China or London. I am not a fan of Americanized Chinese food, but luckily I have Bruce to bring me China Delight. I eat here often and am never disappointed, the food is prepared in traditional methods. At China Delight, we have access to the typical Chinese dishes and the less common traditional dishes from China. If you unsure, ask Bruce what he recommends. Through the years, I have ventured out into other dishes and have found some new favorites! Great food.

Love this place and the owner is the best part!! Good sense of humor and makes you feel like you’ve been there a thousand times. Food is fantastic!

Consistently good Chinese for twenty years. Nothing fancy but always good food with occasional specials worth trying.

We ordered in advance -- awesome crab, shrimp and scallops, and whole fish. It was tasty and the service was pleasant. The atmosphere is nothing great but the food makes up for it. Give it a try

We have been to the restaurant many times. The food is decent. It’s average. Considering how little is in SW Portland this is the best Chinese food. They are friendly, the food and service are fine. The bar has a happy hour and can get full sometimes. A lot of locals go here. I and my family members ( women) have gone into the bar to have a drink and wait for take out. It has never been uncomfortable. There are female bartenders who know what they are doing. This isn’t top of the line, but you won’t get a bad meal here.

Was home for Christmas and was walking around the neighborhood as I hadn't been to SW Portland/Raleigh Hills in quite some time. Walking around checking out the christmas lights on the houses and headed down to the Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, across from Jesuit High, and happened upon a place called China Delight. From my childhood I remembered the building as an old Sambo's that my dad would take me to for breakfast... I'm from a very large family, but this restaurant was just for he and I. So to be completely candid the place could be terrible and I'd probably give it a great review just because of the childhood memories of the building itself. Decided to go in the bar for a drink and order some food. The bartender recommended the pot stickers and am so glad that she did, as they were fantastic!!! Served with two sauces, one more savory and the other hot and spicy. I loved both of them together. It was quite a large order so I didn't have room for more food, however did have room for one more cocktail as I had a chilly walk home in front of me. Was a great experience. Thank you China Delight!

A huge Welcome Home from the owner when you walk through the door sets the right tone for a fantastic feast. The owner is pure energy and makes you laugh and smile. So the owner is great but that isn't why I am giving it a 5 star review. Anything that I order off the menu is never disappointing. Hands down best brocoli beef I have ever tried. The chefs specials you can never go wrong with and the orange peel chicken blows away any orange chicken I have ever had. Is your stomach growling yet. For shrimp lover's they have walnut honey shrimp sweet and savory with a nutty finish a special treat for your taste buds. You will never have disappointing Chinese food ever again. So be welcomed and entertained by the delightful owner.

Good, solid dinners, you learn to order things that are sort of "secret" menu items...but really amazing is the "American" breakfast. You have to try the stuffed hashbrowns and the corned beef hash.

We've been eating at China Delight for probably twenty years. Our go to place for Chinese food. Great service and excellent food

Read the reviews before trying it out. Have not found a good Chinese restaurant in a while. Very good service, owner very friendly, great hot and sour soup and good food. We will be back for more. Wondering about the American breakfast part. Might try that also. Great value for what is for lunch.

A super foodie chef friend of mine actually turned me on to this place. Best damn eggs/hash/bacon joint on the Westside hands down. You can get nifty with some creative stuff in Mult Village, but for the basics and a good bloody mary China D is Legit!

Is the greeting, you hear as you walk in. Huge menu and very little celery! Hooray! Wonderful place, we try to stop in at least once a month. Go, enjoy, relax... You will look forward to hearing.... Welcome home! Cheers

best authentic taiwanese food, if the owner makes you a traditional family style meal!

What I love about this place is you’d never come unless you’re “in the know,” because it’s kinda far from things on a busy highway where you’d not think people could get into it easily, and looks very nondescript from outside. But it’s terrific food, well priced, very friendly staff.

I'd heard good things about this place for breakfast so I thought I'd check it out with my daughter and my grandson after a morning walk. Service was quite friendly, but the food was very slow in coming out and just average in quality. Place was only half full so it wasn't like the cook would have been slammed. We didn't order anything exotic, just eggs, pancakes, French toast, so it shouldn't have taken 25 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Food was okay, but nothing to write home about. We didn't order any Chinese food so I make no judgement on the Chinese menu.

China Delight is one of our long standing favorite restaurants in the Portland area. Now that we no longer live in Oregon, we only get there about once a year. So, it is reassuring to go back and find that the menu has not changed and that the food is still excellent. The owner is Bruce, a real character in a good way, and he is still there running the show. He has the best things, the things you wont find on a normal Chinese restaurant menu, marked as chef's specials. We had the pepper beef and the honey walnut chicken...what a treat. the orange peel chicken is also not to be missed. The restaurant is a little out of the way, across the street from Jesuit High School in Hillsdale. But it is absolutely worth the effort to penetrate West Portland to find this gem of a Chinese restaurant.

Really great food and service. Difficult to find restaurants with consistently high quality cuisine and which provide a truly pleasant ambiance and excellent service. And the owner is a delightful guy.

We, in our 60's have gone there many for years. Carma was helping us as she oversees the breakfasts there. The cook Nate, decided that I had made a joke to Carma, which she must have shared, about the food which again was a joke that she laughed at, and sabotaged my meal with basically inedible hot peppers in every bite. I went into the kitchen and he was smiling in front of Carma, so she was in, said thanks a lot for the peppers (which I didn't order) instead of and left forever. We always tipped her well, I had already paid the bill as I don't wish to risk sitting there or anywhere to wait for a check that can be slow if things get busy, etc. Didn't see any credits. She scored a final cheap win. This cook just might be doing who knows what to whoever depending on his condition, and his manager is complacent.. I would ask "ARE YOU FEELING LUCKY?"

Bruce is the Best! We met up with some friends there (they are frequent eaters at this establishment). They handled all of the ordering except for drinks. The food is simply amazing. Honey walnut chicken, salt and pepper crab, Long- time chicken, pot stickers are the ones that come to mind (there were plenty of other dishes). None of them were sub par. Phenomenal place, I can not wait to go back! Kudos to the owner (Bruce) and his awesome staff!!

We saw great reviews of this restaurant and headed there for dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful but the food was only average. Perhaps the great reviews are for the breakfasts?

First time we have tried this place as we had read pretty good reviews and it’s not too far away. It didn’t disappoint on the two items we ordered to go which were general tso’s chicken and fried rice. The chicken was tasty and not too greasy or too much bread and made it home without getting too soggy. Would go again.

The service was fast, but the food was only so-so. It wasn't that we didn't like it, but it was definitely not a place that we want to go to again.

There’s a reason restaurants are able to stay in business for many years, and even weather the challenges of a pandemic: consistently well-prepared food, served by attentive staff, along with the pleasantries of the witty onsite owner.

Pretty good food. I enjoyed the Egg Flower soup, it was the right temperature and full of flavor. The Chicken Orange Peel was great, however it was lacking that heat flavor. It was supposed to be one of the spiciest dishes they have. Service was good.

My wife introduced me to this place oh about 3 years ago, she had been coming here years before that, and we have been coming here consistently ever since whenever we have a craving for Chinese. I was never a huge Chinese food fan until I came here, we are pretty stubborn when it comes to trying different things on the menu, but I can tell you there's a reason we order Broccoli Beef, Orange Peel Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, Egg Rolls, and The Green Beans. All of it is simply amazing! The food alone would earn this place 5 stars forever in my book. The staff & owner are very friendly and provide excellent service. You cannot ask for more! I would highly recommend this place to everyone, if you haven't tried it, and your in the mood for some really good Chinese, stop in and enjoy a meal, you will be back!

Chinese dinner: Ehhhhh... but American breakfast? OH MY GOD. We have been coming here for six years, and my heart will break a little if I ever live too far away to frequent it. This is hands-down the best breakfast place I know in Beaverton or Portland: their portions and prices are amazing, the servers are so friendly and positive, and their omelettes just can't be beat. For $9.85 I get an ENORMOUS omelette stuffed with onions, peppers, chicken, beef, sour cream, salsa and pepperjack cheese, a side of seasoned red potatoes, and English muffins with a side of deliciously thick, warm sausage gravy. It's easily two meals, sometimes three, and my colleagues are always envious when I bring my amazing leftovers to lunch. The CD Scramble (formerly called Carma's Scramble) is a delicious blend as well, and better for those who favour lighter meals. Yes, the atmosphere is ordinary or downright plain. They're definitely not selling you an interesting environment. But it's bright, airy, open and clean, and what more could you want for breakfast? No, it's not for health fanatics. The food is definitely rich and heavy and high in all of the bad carbs. But man, your tastebuds will dance in delight if you give in to the temptation. Yes, Bruce's direct, familiar humour can take some definite getting used to, but it's all harmless ribbing. Bruce and his staff remember you and are always willing to make accomodations. Heck, I handed them my Create-Your-Own-Omelette order typed up on a slip of paper (can you tell we're regulars?) and they keep it, remember me, and make it wonderfully every time, even when the chef has to cry a little to make it (because of the spice!). Now, *that's* customer service. Everybody I've ever brought here over the years has been impressed and begged to return - and who am I to deny them?

We've eaten dinner many times here. The food has been always delicious and portions large. The owner has always greeted us and made sure everything is to our satisfaction. The wait staff is friendly and attentive.

I love the fellow at China Delight, who welcomes you when you come in the door with a hearty, "Welcome Home!" China Delight is one of those places that I really depend on. When I'm not feeling like I want to cook a meal, I can call up CD and order the best dry sautéed green beans and garlic chicken available for miles around. But what really surprises a lot of people, is to find out that on the weekends you can go to CD and get one of the best American style breakfasts in the Beaverton area, and the prices are great!
some where below mediocre and awful
I quarrel is more with the reviewers who gave this restaurant positive reviews than it is with the restaurant: they enticed me to dine there. I must presume this situation is one where misery loves company. Each dish was over cooked, poorly sauced and mostly bland. The service was fine and the attitude of the owner and staff more than pleasant. However, in stark contrast to others I can not in good faith to the readers of Trip Advisor recommend wasting calories at China Delight.
