Went to this place with my husband for some simple dinner and found this place through google search. Love the food there. I have ordered the stir fry beef hor fun ( I asked to add chilli as I like spicy food) and it turns out really good. You do not have to order with chili and i believe it will still be delicious. I would recommend it to my friend. My husband ordered the dinner combination set. I have to say, the egg drop soup is good. I am Chinese who does not grow up drinking this kind of soup but I have to say..it is not bad. The service is good with friendly and attentive waitresses.

As visitors to San Antonio, it was recommended that we order carry out for a group of us at our hotel. We were pleased with the quality and quantity. The pork dumplings were meaty and cooked just right. The egg rolls were more like spring rolls, and were light and good. The three soups, won ton, hot and sour and egg drop, were all flavorful and not watery. The main dishes of moo shoo pork, wide noodles with pork and shrimp and the sweet and sour pork were all made to traditional taste and good. We were please at the helpfulness of the person who helped us with our order.

My husband & I visit this place often for lunch when we go to SA. The food is quite tasty, it comes out fast, and the prices are great.

First, I have to say as a NYC native, one of the best places for Chineese food. This place does a large volumn of bussiness during lunch and dinner, but they know how to turn over tables quickly. A family of four can eat for under $50 to include tip. I ordred the General Tso's chicken, the girls order Seseame Chicken. All meals come with a soup. Someone already posted a soup so I didn't, looks just like that. Unfortunately I ran out of memory in my camera to post more pictures. Normally, the two chicken dishes are deep fried to give it a crisp, but China Inn does not. I was surpised how well they made the dish work. The sauce was flovorful and the chicken was great and fresh. The food and value was great! Here is my concern since I worked in hotels as an inpector long ago. When I see dirty walls, windows, carpet and bathroom; that is a concern. Most of the time, establishments are cutting corners and I wonder are they cutting corners in the kitchen? The good news is that the flatware, glasses and China were spotless, so it seems they are doing right in the kitchen. For the good of your customers, i recommend that they close the place for a couple of days and show a little TLC. THey do so much bussiness that if they rally care about their dinners, China Inn would do those small things. Whats a fresh coat of paint, window cleaning a a good scrubing going to cost you. Most of the things they can do yourself. I understand that cleaning is tedious, but I clean my own bathrooms at home. Sometimes, it takes a little bit of work.

I have been to China Inn several times and am continually impressed by the quality of the food and service! They never rush you and have a great variety of dishes. All good!

This was recommended to us but we should have asked which dishes they ordered. The hot plate dish that someone else ordered smelled really great but the two we ordered needed more seasoning. The black bean dish needed more black bean sauce, it was the first time I have seen a red black bean dish and it did not have the distinctive taste it should have had. The two dishes tasted nearly alike but they should have been very different. The hot and sour soup again needed to be more distinctive, more hot and more sour. The won-ton soup was okay but also bland. The dishes were short on vegetables. The hot tea was extremely weak. The service was good and you will not leave here hungry. A good place to eat as long as you are not looking for authentic Chinese dishes was our experience.

My husband wanted ‘good’ Chinese food for his birthday. Checked the reviews and found this place. We were not disappointed. We went for lunch and the restaurant was full. Many regulars based on the greetings by the servers. We had Kung pao chicken, Kung pao beef and sweet & sour shrimp. Food was hot, fresh and more than we could finish. Each meal comes with a choice of soup, egg roll or Rangoon, and fried or steamed rice. In addition to the great food was the price; each meal was less than $8.00. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back for dinner.

We visited this small restaurant for an evening meal with another couple. The meal was excellent with each of us ordering different dishes and then sharing much like family style. Our wait staff paid close attention to our needs and were most timely with our iced tea and water. The location may be somewhat hidden in a strip Center focused on ladies clothing, but China Inn gets people back every time. Savory dishes and great waiters make for a delightful evening!

We had General Tso's! Everything was great: egg drop soup, egg roll, fried rice and entree. Will definitely go back. Prices are very reasonable.

Even the most ardent steak lover like to step away for something different once in a while. This restaurant provides a great atmosphere for such a move. The facility is not overly spacious but neither is it crowded. Service is fast and efficient. The workers gave us the special attention most of us like when we eat out. The food is fantastic with a reasonably good variety, particularly if one has a taste for the spicy, or degrees of spicy. I was not disappointed.

I had a lunch date with my wife; we chose China Inn. This is a humble small place at the back of a strip center. No frills are in evidence- thus, the food has to speak for the restaurant. AND it does! We both chose the Triple Delight plate which has beef, chicken and shrimp. Talk about hot soups (wonton and egg drop)- both were delicious! The serving sizes were plentiful with broccoli, carrot slices, mushrooms, and more. The wait staff were prompt with tea and water and covered the diners' needs for each other. All in all we highly recommend this well-run and delicious eatery. The price is most reasonable as well. Come and enjoy!

Our family has been going to China Inn for the past 10 years and we love it there. As I was dining there last night, I hit me that I had never provided a written review. What I love about this place it the service. They go out of their way to take care of you. The food is fresh, hot and tasty. Your tea will never be empty as they come by ofter to refill. If you go there enough, you will have the pleasure of getting to know Gary, one of the main employees here. We are amazed out how he remembers our orders each time we come in. Give this place a try and I would expect that you will be a repeat customer

This restaurant continues to give personalized service and food that is excellent. The serving size is more than enough and the value is as close to perfection as one can get.

The China Inn gets very busy and has a large take out business. The food is delicious. The Kung Pai Chicken is fantastic. The special beef dish is a favorite. Egg Drop soup is good. Egg rolls taste fresh. The servings are big so you can share and still have plenty to go around.

Most Chinese restaurants use a lot of sodium, not this one. I really like their shrimp fried rice. The rice is cooked to perfection with a generous portion of shrimps. They serve small covered containers of hot chili for individual use, which is nice in this time of Covid. The spring rolls are real spring rolls light ,not the doughy kind.

This restaurant is certainly one of our favorite local dinning places. We eat here at least once or twice a month. China Inn is not very ostentatious. It is located at the back of a small shopping strip, hard to see from the street and hard to find if you are not looking for it. The interior is clean and appropriate for a local Chinese restaurant. What we like best is the food! There is a giant menu and all of the dishes are well prepared with fresh ingredients, meats and vegetables, definitely not overly oily or overcooked. The prices are very reasonable too. Early bird special full dinners (with soup, egg roll and rice) are about $6-7 before 6pm. After 6pm the same meals are about $1-2 more. The service here is outstanding. The restaurant is fairly large and you can always get a table even though it is often quite busy. The wait for food is usually minimal. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. After one or two visits they will remember you and your food preferences! China Inn does a very large take-out business and there is a room in the back for large groups (which we have used). In short, a great local inexpensive Chinese restaurant.

I had no choice but to check you guys out due to all the good reviews you have . I'm so glad I did . I arrived @ 5pm . If you get there early there is an " early bird " menu . I had the wonton soup (yum ) , shrimp with lobster sauce , lemon chicken , fried rice & an egg roll . YOU DIDNT DISAPPOINT ME !! All of the food was wonderful , hot & fresh . I will definitely be back for more .

I've been to this restaurant for years, for both lunch and dinner. I've never had less than an awesome meal there. All the typical dishes are great(Triple Delight and Twice Cooked Pork are stand-outs), and their signature Crispy Chicken w/Black Bean Sauce is AWESOME! Portion sizes are large, and service is top notch. All-in-all a fantastic choice.

We took the family here because it was recommended for great food! I had the Happy Family and was shocked at the amount of tasty food on the plate! A 1/4 was fried rice w/ egg roll! The other 3/4 of the plate was the entree of Chicken, Shrimp, Beef, & Pork: needless to say all of us took home a second dinner in a too go bag!! The egg rolls are the best I have had in some years!!!! A must stop if just for egg rolls!

Here visiting and took a chance on the shrimp fried rice. It was so so good. I didn't even use the soy sauce because wonderful flavors. And the amount of food for the price is outstanding. For anyone stand in the area close to this restaurant, I would definitely try it out. I will eat here again.

If this is the place off of Military Hwy. It was GREAT and woth the drive from our hotel by Lackland AFB. Fantastic food (best sesame chicken my husband e er had) I enjoyed the beef vegetable & chicken w/broccoli combo meal. Lots of food. Clean and friendly staff.

Lunch on a week day. Was seated immediately and drink order taken immediately. The General Tso's chicken was not what I expected. Slabs of chicken with a decidedly barbecue sauce flavor. Fried rice very plain. Only ate about half the chicken. There was plenty and it just was not that good. Very good service. I will try something else next time.

I've been going here since it opened. It's been consistently good all these years. Try the Special Beef (not House Special).

Great food, Great Staff, Great Service with low prices. Thanks for a consistent experience over the last 20 years.

Foods is great so is the hospitality. Can't go wrong here. All food is cook to order so it's always fresh.

Been coming here for several years now and it's always been a favorite of mine. Whenever someone out of town comes to visit, I take them here and show them San Antonio actually has some really good Chinese good, not just Mexican.

China Inn is in a typical generic business park/strip center (but in a nice part of town) so there is nothing remarkable to cause you to drop in. I came for an early week lunch and it appeared every table was full, so they must be doing something right. The good: - the food tastes good - the service was very prompt - the prices are inexpensive for lunch I was especially impressed by how hot the food was served. I had the egg drop soup, which came out in a cup and was steaming, followed by the triple delight, which also came out quite hot. The egg roll was decent and the quantity of food was more than adequate. The decor, like the outside of the building, is very generic, but at least it's tidy.

Best Chinese place in town. If there is ever a better place, I confess I won't know it because I would never dream of going any other place. Sizzling Garlic Shrimp and Special Beef are our favorites.

The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. My husband loves spicy food and will ask for hot oil. The hot oil here was not only hot,but had the best flavor of any he has ever had (and he has been eating Chinese for over 50 years!) I love dumplings(potstickers) and theirs are good but the dipping sauce is absolutely wonderful-a bit spicy, but not too much. They have lunch and dinner specials that have a good variety of dishes. Many choices on the regular menu, nothing expensive. In short we love everything about China Inn.

Extensive menu makes this an excellent option for take out. Hot & sour soup - just the right balance. Steamed dumplings - order of 8. Tasty sauce. Well worth the $$. HUGE entree portions.

We visit here because our friends informed us it was great. The service was good, fast and friendly. Egg rolls were very tasteful and soup was nice hot and good. Ribs were overly sauce, which means to me they didn't season them up and they were too meaty. They didn't have the usual crisp taste. The shrimp fried rice was lacking the shrimp, the egg foo young was very good, but it didn't have the gravy as I usually have, but they were very full. The as much as I like ribs, they were smother with too much sauce that you couldn't taste what they should be. I have to give them a big plus on the shrimp chow mein, but again there was some flavor lacking and it would have been better if water chestnut was added. The mongolian beef was also very bland. I had high hopes for the food, as our friends had told us how good the food was. I'm from Philadelphia and have had American Chinese from various places, including New York and have grown accustomed to some very good meals in these cities.

2 Cantonese flavor profile dishes that hit it out of the ballpark were the Special Beef and the House Special Pan Fried Noodles. As walk ins arriving at 1230p midweek, China Inn was bustling with the majority of the neighboring diners enjoying their lunch specials. Seated next to the window, our order was taken and we were left munching on fried wonton crisps and sipping our beverages. First to arrive was the Special Beef. Sizzling on the platter, the beef was delivered to us piping hot with the crispness and bursting with flavor one recognizes as HK style. Diving in and thoroughly enjoying the mixture of textures in each bite, we were interrupted by the House Special Pan Fried Noodles arriving hot and glistening fresh from the wok. The noodles were not over sauced so you get that delicious 3 stages of noodle: crispy, crispy with sauce, soften by sauce, all on one platter. The wok hei was in the trio of sautéed meats and medley of vegetables over the noodles. Bowls of steamed white rice completed the meal. The portions of both dishes were very generous and in this economy a real value for its quality, presentation, and flavor. The service was very SA friendly with every staffer who came close to our table inquired if we needed anything. Truth be told, I had the same two dishes a year ago and it was fine but not noteworthy. But last week, the deliciousness of the 2 dishes had me thinking that a different chef wokked and rocked our meal. Kudos to China Inn.

Have been coming here for lunch, dinner or takeout for 20 years. Great food and great service. Excellent prices and super friendly staff. Always consistent and never disappointed in 20 years. reliable comfort food that you can always count on.

After searching for over 8 years, I am upset with myself for not finding this gem much earlier and wasting so much time eating bad Chinese food! Imagine going to a Chinese restaurant with great service, great food, good prices, CLEAN and large portions! Most of all, I am grateful they are willing to add or delete ingredients from the dishes and serve me what I want. Been there about 6 times now and keep trying different things and have not had a bad meal. Great place! Highly recommended!

This is the new favorite. Large portions. Family style servings. Flavors that cannot be found at other restaurants. Prices are very reasonable.

Our family has grown up with China Inn, having been customers from its inception. We've never, ever had a bad meal there. The dishes are consistent, year in and year out, and always well-prepared with fresh ingredients. The menu is extensive and very well priced. We are always pleasantly surprised at the bill.

Food is always good as well as their top notch service. We eat there about every two weeks. Very convienent.

I tried China Inn for the first time last night and I can’t wait to go back. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I’m a vegetarian and I’m often limited to vegetable delight at most Chinese restaurants. I was surprised and delighted to find several tofu options on the menu. I ordered Kung Pao Tofu and it was one of the best vegetarian meals I’ve had. It had the perfect amount of spice and it was a good amount of food. I ordered the dinner special and it was under $10 and included rice, soup and Rangoon. At the end of the meal, they brought out sesame balls filled with red bean paste and orange slices. Everything was delicious. I will definitely go back.

I'm a regular in this restaurant never had bad food or bad service . Cantonese style clean delicious food at a great price.

It's a hidden gem! Price is great ,amount of food is great as well! Try the soups hot and sour soup is very good. If you go with a big group try calling ahead ... Service has always been great here!

I love this place! The food is simply delicious! Try the Moo Shu or the Clay Pot dishes. Also there are some great lunch specials here. The wait staff is friendly and the ambiance is very simple without all the traditional Chinese stuff on the walls. This restaurant is actually located in the City of Castle Hills, not San Antonio.
