This review is for China Mama - Shanghai Plaza (aka China Mama 2) on Spring Mountain Rd. We had a wonderful experience here. Chinatown has literally hundreds of restaurants. Thankfully, a friend had recommended this place for a variety of regional Chinese dishes. We went for lunch and had such a great time! The dining room is very pretty and the booth seats are extra soft and comfy - get ready to settle in and pace yourself to try many dishes! We’d read a Yelp review (you can tell this is mostly locals here because there are a lot of Yelp reviews and not many TripAdvisor ones) where the owner made recommendations of some of her favorite dishes. They were: Jumbo Shrimp with Salted egg yolk (10/10!), Crispy Pork with Mama’s Sauce (9/10!), dry pepper chicken (didn’t try because we got so full), and Szechuan wontons in chili oil (stuffed with pork) 10/10! We also enjoyed their cucumber salad and the complimentary jasmine tea. The service was so welcoming and efficient. I just wish we lived here to go in every week! It’s only a $10 Lyft/Uber ride from the Strip (about two miles from The Mirage and Venetian), and gets you off the Strip to the clean, pretty, safe and vibrant Chinatown Las Vegas. Take your time and enjoy a meal with family or friends here at China Mama Shanghai Plaza!

Small, quiet place that had awesome food. It took a long time to pick from their menu. The menu's not huge but it was good. I had the crispy beef which was unusual for me but the picture looked so good! It was excellent and more than I could eat.

I have to say that this place has the best Chinese food I’ve ever had! And I’ve been to China over 15 times and many areas of China to know the food. My wife found this place and we tried it out and it was so good we went back a few days later! So far everything we’ve had was awesome and the portions for the price and quality is incredible!! In the heart of Shanghai plaza of China Town. Oh and the service is top notch and the people are so friendly!! 5 star!!

Came here for late night dinner. There is a good wait of 30-40 minutes. The food is very good and fast service. The portions were also above average. The stir fried fish fillet was excellent.

China Mama in Las Vegas was an absolute treat for my family, combining authentic flavors with a welcoming atmosphere. The lamb chops were tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with rich, savory flavor. The chow mein was another standout—deliciously stir-fried with fresh ingredients that made every bite satisfying. To top it off, we appreciated the special discount on the birthday cake, which added a thoughtful and celebratory touch to our meal. China Mama is a must-visit for anyone craving excellent Chinese cuisine with generous portions and attentive service!

I am a sucker for Chinese food. After this location was recommended to me, I looked it up and it was severely hyped. It’s rare, when the hype is warranted. I will scream from the rafters how incredible this place was, and how spot on all the hype was. I ordered the dumplings in chili sauce as an appetizer and, but added such a complex flavor to the dish. as my entrée, I ordered what everyone says is the best dish in the house, the crispy beef with a side of steamed rice. it simply blew the doors off of any Chinese food food. I’ve ever eaten anywhere in my travels. The lien strips of beef were fried crispy, had a great crunch, and the taste was simply to die for. The entrée was more than enough for two people, and in no time I had the entire plate consumed. Be ready for a wait. This place is extremely good and extremely busy. If you go nowhere else to eat in Vegas, head to China Mama on Spring Mountain, and you will not be disappointed.

This was our first visit here, and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a small place so making reservations is recommended. The china dishes are beautiful and the menu has many options. We had the house chow mein which had vegetables, shrimp, chicken and beef. The sweet sour chicken and green beans were great too! Their dishes range from $11-20 each. The servers were very attentive in filling our tea pot and water all night. I would go back!

This is for China MaMas at palace station This is a very clean and modern restaurant The service was top notch. They were very quick at clearing empty plates and taking care of any requests We ordered : Pot Stickers. Six to an order and they were delicious Sweet and sour chicken. A nice big serving and excellent Honey Walnut shrimp. My personal favorite and these didn’t let me down Crispy Beef. very good! Chicken fried rice. Yummy My husband ordered some sushi. He said it was good and tasted fresh We will definitely return to this restaurant when we want Chinese food

Ordered carry out for dinner. I got the crispy beef. It is my new obsession. It was flavorful and well cooked. The beef was crispy and tender. Now if I can only find a place here in the Midwest that offers that dish.

Amazing service. Delicious food. Very popular. We were there on a Wednesday at 5 and the place was packed. I had crispy pork w/mama’s special sauce. Delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try some other dishes.

Food arrived hot, we didn’t order rice or noodles with the main course, however it was still filling without. Atmosphere and service were exceptional. Their advertised table cocktail was not available, reason for the 4 star rating.

A very busy restaurant in the Chinatown section of Las Vegas worked out very nicely for us. We thought it would be a long wait but they got customers in and out fast. The food was very good and a step above most Chinese restaurants. Our son loved his vegetable chow mein and the Kung Pao chicken and crispy beef were also very good. The pot stickers were a good not great appetizer in comparison to the very tasty entrees.

The line to get in is a testament to how delicious this place is. It is in a plaza with limited parking. They close between lunch and dinner and we waited in a line to enter for dinner. They seat everyone the moment the doors open so prepare to order quickly so you don't have to wait for your food to be delivered to the table. Excellent customer service. Everything was delicious! Sadly, they must use MSG in their meals because I did get a migraine after eating there. Food was delivered accurately, quickly, and hot. Portions were generous. If you're not sensitive to MSG, absolutely worth a visit.

Depending on the day and time, Shanghai Plaza is a nightmare to get in and out of, but if exceptional Chinese food is your jam, this is the only restaurant you need to know. Just be sure you're going to this (Shanghai Plaza) location.

Great food, great service. It is a little confusing when I called to make a reservation an hour before. I was told I can make a reservation or add to the wait list. The waiting area is full when we arrived and there is a kiosk you can sign in to be added to the wait list. We didn't have to wait long for our table and once we sat down, the service was good and the food is delicious! On top of that, the price is GREAT! Highly recommend this place if you want authentic Chinese food and don't mind driving away from the strip.

CHINA MAMA – Shanghai Plaza 4366 Spring Mountain Road, # 106 Las Vegas, NV 89102 I went to China Mama on Friday, 8/30/24, at approximately 4:40 pm. This was my first time ever eating there and also first time eating in Chinatown in Vegas. I was greatly disappointed. When I got there all the tables were full but, I was first on the waiting list with a wait of 8 minutes. (They have an electronic board at front door where you can register and check your status.) While I’m waiting, I noticed that another party (all Chinese or Asians), that was behind me on the waiting list, were seated. (Remember: I was FIRST on the waiting list so, this other party had to be behind me.). No matter. I said nothing and continued to wait. I waited 30 minutes to be seated (though I was first on waiting list that said 8 minutes.) I sat down and ordered Shrimp Chow Mein and a beer and my date had Tofu. After another good 30 minutes, I still had not been served my meal and I noticed that 2 other separate groups of people (both groups were Asians), that were several places behind me on the wait list, had been seated at their respective tables, ordered and were eating their food. I asked my waitress what happened to my order; she said they were working on it. (For 30 minutes, for Tofu and Shrimp Chow Mein, working on it???) The waitress admitted these people were all seated ahead of me and also, they got their food ahead of me and had no idea when my food would be ready. (Total time wasted in restaurant, up to now, was 60 minutes & still no food.) I said: I’m outta here. All I got from the waitress was an: I’m sorry. When I was getting ready to leave, I noticed the food that I had ordered was ready now but, the waitress gave it to that other table (that was behind me on the list and served before me) my food for free. (The restaurant could have, at least, offered to give me my food for free but, chose to give it to another party for free.) The manager never came to my table to apologize (I guess he was too busy), or offer any recompense himself. They charged me $15.00 for 2 beers (I had ordered another beer since the wait for my food was so long; I shouldn’t’ have had to pay for my beers since I only ordered them to go with my meal & it was TOTALLY their fault that created this incident.) I don’t know it this is a Chinese culture thing where you take care of Asian customers first (since they are apt to return more often-it’s all about money-then an American male like me). I do feel I was treated extremely rude and felt some definite discrimination. I know I will never go back to China Mama & would be hard placed to trust another restaurant in Chinatown to treat me fairly. Remember: first impressions in life (on anything) are so important! I intent to personally boycott China Mama (to everyone I meet and post this review everywhere on the internet I can) & be very skeptical of going to Chinatown at all.

Best Chinese food in Vegas and definitely the best we have had outside of New York’s Chinatown. Service was amazing and our waiter Jai and his partner Brooks were so attentive. Food came to the table quickly and was piping hot and exactly how we ordered. Scallion pancakes were thin, crispy and flavorful. Garlic eggplant was delicious as was the honey walnut shrimp and Mama’s fried rice. Portions are very generous so be prepared to take food home. This is a place we will definitely return to and recommend to friends and family.

This review is for the new Spring by China Mama. I had crunchy beef. It was very good if not a little spicy for me. My husband had the special chow mein. He said it was maybe the best he ever had. I tried it and agreed. Good prices and attentive service. This place has a reputation as one of the best Asian restaurants in Las Vegas for good reason. Try it and you will agree !
