I first stopped here 15 years ago because I am willing to try anywhere for good Chinese food. This little strip mall spot blew my mind. This is not a place that makes a vat of sauce and slops it on queasy meat. I could hear it being tossed in the kitchen and it came out hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. Since then, I have come here at least a hundred times. I have never, not once, had less than a delicious meal. nor have the many people I have introduced to the spot. From Kung Pao Chicken that they add broccoli to for me, to eggplant with spicy sauce, there many noodle soups some on the menu some made for us, etc. etc. Their potstickers are gingery and delicious. Everything is delicious. Jimmie has even gone out and purchased a duck and made Peking Duck on special order for us. Again. Delicious. I have come to know Jimmie (chef) and his wife Pamela (front of house) over these many years. They immigrated from China and are warm and wonderful people. Give China Rim a try. You will eat fantastic food in basic, unadorned but spotless little hole in the wall. You will support a couple who works incredibly hard and serves delicious Chinese American food.

I ordered several take out food here Good food and not expensive at all Ordered noodles, fried rice, beef with broccoli and sweet and sour pork. All tasty. Definitely will order again.

My family and I come here about once a week, we love the tangy sauce eggplant and the shredded Peking sauce pork. Their string beans with chicken and any of there shrimp dishes are also good. The sauces are lighter and the owner is very friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Another great dinner at China Rim. Spicy chicken dish and an icy cold beer. Bargain pricing and super quality. The owners really take pride in their craft and take a personal interest in your dining experience. The restaurant is small, and in a strip mall so it's not super plush. But very clean with some Chinese decorations on the wall, but go for the food, not the ambience, you will be happy you did.

Generally unimpressive. Food is okay but nothing special. Prices are fair. Seating area is quite small; consider getting take-out. If you do stay, be warned: the chairs are skimpy and far from comfortable. On our visit, it was a hot day, but we had to go outside to cool off. Insufficient climate control. Pick a cool day to visit.

I loooove this place...my family and I have been going here for years (since the 90's) and have never swayed. The owners are extremely friendly and prepare authentic Chinese for those in search of a delicious treat. My favorites: EVERYTHING...really!!! But, to be more specific, I never visit without getting the dumplings...I love the potstickers (made from scratch) and General Tso's Chicken. Don't miss out on this quiet gem...I never do when I am in town and dream of it on a regular basis in my sleep!

China Rim is located in Cedar Mill. We love this place and go there often. They always have fresh ingredients that are prepared to order. They do a great take-out business too.

Small restaurant with friendly staff. Clean. We had eggplant with spicy sauce and rainbow scallops, both were excellent. Reasonably priced and efficient service. We plan to return and recommend it to everyone.

China Rim is located in a small strip mall in Cedar Mill (technically, now Beaverton, I guess). It's situated in a typical, glass fronted rectangle exactly like the Postal Annex a few doors down. The lighting is bright and the decor pleasant enough. What surprises it the food. We've all had a fair amount of Chinese food, and would tolerate just OK, but the food hers is very good. I've not had any better in Portland. The staff is very friendly, and the service is prompt and efficient. The prices, especially for lunch, are very attractive. It's 6.95 for an entree, rice, soup wonton and tea. Inexpensive and excellent, what more could you ask.

Close to my house and good food. Staff is friendly. Not usually very crowded but lots of people getting takeout when ever we are here.

Unlike most Chinese restaurants that cook their food far in advance then serve it to you several days later, China Rim cooks their meals fresh that day to order. Try the”House Special Fried Rice”, it’s the best I’ve ever eaten. If you eat at China Rim once, you’ll have a hard time eating at other Chinese resaurants. Rob & Karen

We've been going here for years now and always had wonderful meals. Some of our favorites are the sauteed string beans, orange chicken, chicken chowmein among others. The owner is really friendly and makes us feel really welcome. I highly recommend it!

Great food, good prices, and friendly staff. Try the orange beef or beef with black mushrooms--both are excellent.

Great place, simple strip mall location, but outstanding food, great friendly service. Love the General Tsao's chicken. Add a cold beer and you are all set.

Yes this is a "typical" strip mall kind of place with that atmosphere. However what makes this place worth the visit is the food and the service. It's almost always packed at lunch with repeat locals so that tells you something. There are lots of choices around so it's picked because it's good. I especially love their daily specials but I have never had a bad meal here. We often get take out and it's done well. Love this place.

I love their Mushu! It’s really great. I’ve tried a few other things and they are delicious. I highly recommend their food and it’s 75. I’m an experienced eater and lover of good food. But I have to say I especially love their Mushu!

Cozy environment and delicious food! Seating around 30 customers and re-arrangeable table settings. Great place for a quick meal!

We have been going to China Rim for about 15 years - it has NEVER disappointed. It is somewhat of a dive (always clean) with regard to the physical plant, so it's not the place to go to impress someone with the atmosphere. However, if consistently excellent Chinese food is what you want, you will find it here. The owners frequently make us custom dishes that are not on the menu any time we ask. Substitutions are never a problem. The prices are always reasonable. I lived in Asia for many years, and China Rim has some of the best classic Chinese food that I have experienced.

This is a dingy little place but the owners are nice and the food is good and reasonable. I had the cashew chicken and it was good, a little too many onions for my taste but easily avoidable. My dad had the noodle soup which looked excellent, although he said it was bland but he isn't eating much these days.

Came here with my parents, who have visited a few times. The lunch menu is a steal with delicious options. The staff is very kind, especially towards my nephew who is 2 and a bit of a messy eater. I appreciated how warm they were about him eating and there were no complaints about his mess. :) I had the hot & sour soup (very nice) along with the beef and broccoli. Very tasty and would go back!

We arrived in Portland to a rainy night while very tired and travelled quite far from our friends place to find we had left our wallets. In a desperate state at 8:30pm on a Monday night we looked for nearby restaurants and found this place. We were the only people in there but the front of house was very nice getting us hot tea. We thought we only ordered two dishes but got three but ate most of it anyway. It's not cheap by any measure - ended up being 55 USD including tip - but it saved us on this miserable night and we went home with full stomachs.

Ok- so you look at this review, then go, and then realize that it's this hole in the wall joint, situated between a Subway and a mini mart- So what? The food is excellect... For one, you have to have either their pork fried rice or their chicken fried rice- amazing!! Secondly, the sesmae chicken entre is delicious... We also get the General chicken everytime, but the sesame chicken is to die for... And if you want an appetizer, go with the pork pot stickers- they are delicious.. especially with the sauce that they include with it. This is not a place to sit and dine; but call it in, take it home.. and you'll never want to go to antoher chinese restaurant in the area.

Great little family-owned restaurant. Don't let the non-descript strip mall location keep you from trying this place. Food tastes very fresh. Chicken with vegetables is one of our favorites; the chicken is so tender!

We visited this restaurant because they are a customer of our farm products. We found it to be delightful, warm toward their customers and very hard working. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back again.

Son was hungry for Chinese food. So we settled for this place. Ordered cashew chicken, house special fried rice, and house special chow mein. The cashew chicken tastes good! Liked the sauce. Fried rice was bland but the shrimp was cooked perfect. And my chow mein had a burnt flavor and wasn't that good either. People were friendly though. Ok service.
How could I have driven past this for so many years without stopping in?
Finally decided to try this place because my phone said it was good. I lived in China for a time so I can be finicky. One dish I always have to get is shredded Peking sauce pork, we also had the Orange beef, crab puffs and the outstanding dish of the evening: pan fried scallops with asparagus. Everything was fantastic, and to top it all off they had the perfect Fumay Blanche to go with it. It is always a good sign when you see a group of Chinese college kids having a banquet next to you in a Chinese restaurant. I highly recommend this place.
