Good Happy Hour Place, Nice Patio

By Gary B |

We've started going to the Chisos Grill for Friday night outing recently after another favorite place closed. Chisos had recently relocated and the new location has a patio with a number of beautiful oak trees on it. It's also located on the east side of an adjacent building and is in the shade by 5pm. The trees have fans with water misters in them which really do help keep the 100 degree temps in check. Domestic beer is available, and is cold. We like the Chisos Sampler and the Tortilla Crusted Chicken Strips. Wait staff are pretty prompt and friendly. We enjoy the Chisos Grill often

Sysco Food

By Midlifetrippin |

What more can I say? Atmosphere was terrible, food was awful, and prices were high. My guess is that Chisos won't be around long.

Great meeting place

By J B |

We were able to spend time together here and not feel rushed. We arrived at opening so it wasn't noisy. Wait staff was close by but not hovering. Would go again when in the area.

A Food Adventure

By originalsix |

The Chisos menu is full of exotic Southwestern items that come in ample portions. We dined there on a Monday night, so it was nice and quiet with friendly and attentive service. One of the highlights was the free mini cornbread muffins with a jalapeno butter (awesome!) that they give you when you sit down and peruse the menu. The tortilla encrusted salmon was ok, but the half-rack of ribs was fall-off-the-bone and very tasty. We also tried the Queso with chilis and pulled pork, which was good. With so much food, we brought back boxes and enjoyed the leftovers the next day. The atmosphere doesn't impress, but I do like how spacious it is ... the tables are not tightly packed-in like other places.

Pleasantly Surprise!

By TK14 |

Our friends recommended Chisos Grill and we are certainly glad they did. We both ordered the fire cracker shrimp tacos and were pleasantly surprised with the excellent seasoning and taste. The restaurant was extra clean and the service very good. They have a full bar with a wide selection of house cocktails and draft beer. We will return for sure.

Love Chisos Grill

By R0undTheWorldGirl |

We love Chisos Grill...it's become one of our favorite places to eat out. Met friends this day, and all had great, good-tasting food, attentive service and all went smoothly. We highly recommend Chisos Grill, and will definitely be repeat customers as often as possible.

Pleasantly surprised.

By Matthew L |

I was skeptical about dining at a "shopping" area restaurant as quite frankly many of them are over hyped with terribly bad food, well, that is not the case with Chisos Grill. We tried several things on the menu and much to our surprise all of them were good to excellent. Whatever they are doing in the kitchen at Chisos Grill they need to keep it up. Everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor, perhaps the previous reviewer caught them on a bad night as our dinners were great and we made a note to come back when in the area again. The wait staff was good and attentive and the host was very pleasant. The restaurant itself had an open western concept which was simple but yet effective. It was not over done as some shopping mall restaurants can be, no over hyped theme restaurant here, Chisos Grill is the real thing, I’m look forward to a return visit.,

Lunch at Chiso's

By Deborah T |

The fried oyster's were very good. I also like the speed of service since it was lunch and I had somewhere to be after lunch. Looked like a place that would be a great happy hour also, since there was a nice bar with lots of seating. Bi will deffinately try happy hour.

Room for Improvement

By Jdgtex |

We have eaten here for several years and have always enjoyed it. However tonight, we were very disappointed in the quality of the French fries. They were soggy and greasy. I make better fries at home from my frozen bag. With $13.50 for a chicken sandwich and the only side dish is a small bowl of French fries, I would expect them to be crisp and tasty. We won't be back for awhile.

The Galleria is so enjoyable

By GodsArmy7 |

We stopped into the Chisos Grill on a whim at lunch and had a wonderful meal, interesting sides like grilled corn on the cob and a pulled pork sandwich. My husband's CFS was huge and wonderful. We will return soon and bring friends!!

Great ambiance, terrible food!

By worldly12016 |

Service was decent but the food was terrible. Will not visit again. We ordered the baked brisket tacos. The menu said that they had chimichurri and some type of ailioli. It had neither. What it had was a slice of fried avocado....not to my liking. We ordered borracho beans as a side dish and they were COLD. Not impressed.

Great Gluten Free Selections

By TexasTink54 |

This is the second time my husband and I went to eat here. I am so impressed by all the Gluten Free options. Since I have been diagnosed as gluten intolerant, I have not eaten at many restaurants since September 2013 that I have been impressed with. Most restaurants, I leave after eating the gluten free meal and think that the meal was OK but a little disappointing. I can't say this about either time I ate at Chisos Grill. On my last visit, I had the fried catfish and fries with a side of pinto beans. It was all very good and you could not tell it was gluten free. I can't wait to go back and try the burgers. They make their own hamburger buns. I heard that the family that owns this restaurant is gluten free so that why they have so many gluten free options. If you are not gluten free, don't worry. There are also some non gluten free options like chicken fried chicken with gravy. So far we have not been disappointed with our meals here.

Southwestern at its best!

By What Moms Think |

I adore the updated Southwestern feel of Chisos Grill! They host a great menu and an even better 'Ghost Bar'. The Menu has all natural selections of Beef, Pork, Poultry, Seafood & GF menu items. The bar hosts over 30 beers, 25 spirits and 20 wines - all from the state of Texas! The entire cocktail menu features Texas sourced spirits blended with fresh juices. The menu is also locally sourced and the atmosphere is just what a good restaurant should be. The staff is very friendly and my kids really enjoyed their time there as well.

Happy Tummy Time

By Erin R |

It's so hard for me to go here and not get the bleu cheese burger. The bacon they use is stellar and cooked perfectly. The one time I did manage to order something else, it was a chopped entree salad with a perfectly cooked filet of grilled salmon which also did not disappoint. Lovely interior, mesquite-smoke scented air.

Very good Southwestern food

By Tom J |

I had the Pork Belly Tacos and they were perfect. Wonderful pork and the spices were just right. My wife had bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with Serrano peppers. They were very good.

Dinner with friends

By teresamaria77 |

We 4 came here and managed to catch the happy hour so the prices were great. HH finishes at 6:30pm so great timing for us. We’ve been here several times and the food and service is always great 👍 We shared a bunch of appetizers and I had a bowl of the tortilla soup. All excellent. The guys had beer. They have an outside area which is really pretty and good weather to enjoy the outdoors, you can bring your dog outside if he/she is well behaved! Lol The bar inside is fun and plenty of tables for large groups or just single or couples. You can make a reservation, we never do. The staff are all friendly people. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed

Super Southwest cuisine with a twist.

By Wil G |

We love the new location and menu. The pulled pork queso is enough for most folks. Super good and smooth with Hatch chiles. My favorite appetizer, but everything on the menu is good. Super fresh salads and entrees keep us coming back. At this new location we feel like the service has really picked up as well. We enjoy surprising out-of-town guests with a trip to Chiso's.

It's all about taste

By edcreekmore@hotmail.com |

The decor here is pleasant enough, but with no sound dampening it can be very loud. The service was really pretty good. So what distinguishes this place. The food. The salmon tacos were colorful and full of complimentary flavors. The bacon adds a nice crunch to it. My wife loves the way they make the pork chop. I like the tangy green apple slaw too. I can find no fault with the food, and that is what fine dining is all about.

Fish dish and Baby Back Ribs are the BEST!!

By travelbugAustin |

I usually shop at the GALLERIA and love to stop at Chisos for dinner. For one the place is very southwestern style with cool decorations that are quite western. They sometimes have a singer but not anymore. I love the menu they have is very southern with Baby back ribs are delicious! The fish dish is one of my very favorites on the menu. I ordered the wedge salad with blue cheese is perfect. Drinks here are very potent and very good as well. There menu is very different is why I chose Chisos you don't have to wait for seating for they usually seat you right away, it is reasonable and won't brake your wallet. Parking is usually a problem but have plenty behind the restaurant. Will eat here again and enjoy all the rest of the menu to try.

Grat Fresh Innovative

By darlenelynn |

We went there at lunch time and were really impressed. The style is southwest /industrialist. There are many options for vegan and gluten free. i had the veggie black bean burger and my sister had a firecracker shrimp taco that was incredible! Spicy sweet and crunchy. It was my sister's birthday and we had a slice of the flour less chocolate cake, it was a slice of heaven!

Great Food!

By perk16 |

If you are in the Lakeway area, this restaurant is a must! You must order the Pork Belly Tacos...soooo delicious!!!! Additionally, the other menu items are great as well but you can't beat the pork tacos. Great service, good people!!! Just try it!

Diverse Southwestern Menu

By Fred N |

We enjoyed Chicken Nueces and an Oyster Basket along with a Chisos Salad. All were delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. The menu offers a good variety of southwestern dishes along with standard fare. Chisos is a pleasant restaurant in a nice open air mall. They offer live music (a singing guitarist when we were there) which can be noisy in the bar area. However, there is a good separation from the main dining area where you may hear the music and enjoy conversation.

AWESOME!

By Celina P |

We were looking for a place for dinner and after reading reviews thought we would try it, sooo glad we did! If you don't love spicy, you might be hesitant to try things, but you need to. Everything we had was absolutely fabulous. I had the pulled pork plate with hatch chili and my husband had the pork belly tacos. He substituted his side for tortilla soup which was REALLY tasty! Their take on spices and flavors is really good with everything you eat. You need to try this!

Nice place

By Tim B |

We came in here for convenience because I was trying to escape shopping and my wife spending money! At the recommendation of a clerk from Dillards we came to this place. We were not too hungry, so we got appetizers. We got the pork queso and it was very very good! We got some armadillo bomb things and they were good, but very spicy. Nice atmosphere, we will for sure be back.

Very good late night dinner

By Amy P |

We were eating dinner late & had few options but our Hotel recommended this spot. It was a little pricey but the food was good.

Outside patio lunch

By Rebecca Diaz |

Great service-outdoor patio was very nice. Relaxed ambiance. Food was delicious. Waitstaff very attentive-even gave my son an additional CFS as he thought his portion was too small!! How thoughtful!!!!

Great place for gluten-free dining!

By t4689 |

Nice place for lunch or dinner. The bar area can get noisy on a busy night. The owners are gluten free and really understands what that means. A worry-free spot for a really nice gluten-safe meal.

Best pork tacos

By Stacey K |

Nice place to go in the galleria! Delicious pork belly tacos. I have been a few times and their food is consistently great.

Good food--solid addition to Hill Country Galleria options

By 1234texas |

We took our granddaughter here for a little "birthday party" because she likes the place and wanted to return--good enough for us! We were pleased with the choice, but for a few minor "picks" The Galleria is blessed to have a number of fine restaurants--lots of options at many different price points--that make the environment very competitive. This is good for all of us, but tough on the owners to meet the standards! The location is great--south end of the mall near Whole Foods. Parking is a little easier here than in the heart of the mall. The ambiance (sleek/modern with decent lighting) is excellent with the exception of very poor artwork other than the focal point photograph. Austin has too many great artists that can crank out works that are eye appealing--no need to make us endure these! The bar is an integral part of the restaurant--perhaps a bit too close to the tables with kids, but the crowd was well behaved and there were no problems. It seems a number of the new restaurant layouts use this approach...not certain it is a good idea, but time will tell. The food is excellent--well prepared and well served. The waitress was very candid and helpful. I was not sure I wanted the buffalo chili, but she accurately described the dish and I loved it (note: she said some of the patrons had found it to be a bit "gamey"). We had the appetizers to start and they were wonderful. My wife liked the steak and our guest liked her fish tacos. The receptionist was a little confused when we arrived, and was slow to react. She seemed to be incapable of saying "Hello, nice to have you here." There is no excuse for that behavior-no matter how many people you have greeted! Seating people is not that tough, but lately we have noticed a lack of skill on greeting guests in restaurants. The selection standards/training requirements need to be revised to get "brighter bulbs" at the front desk--it sets the "tone" for the whole experience. There is an outside area that is dog friendly.

Delicious and Delightful!

By marfishbar |

My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch Saturday afternoon. The decor was delightful, not your ordinary Southwestern motifs, not a kokopelli in sight. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the blue cheese burger. Both were HUGE, enough for two people to easily share. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful even without being slathered with barbecue sauce. Her burger was cooked perfectly, moist and dripping with cheese - delicious! And the sweet potato fries were great also, sweet and crispy. Stop in next time you're at the Hill Country Galleria!!

LOVE the new location!

By RachelM1019 |

I had been to this restaurant before, but they recently re-located to a new location at the Galleria and I LOVE the new look! There is really nice outside patio seating when the weather is nice, and the new indoor look is beautiful. Much cozier and quieter than the old location. I met a friend there for happy hour and our waitress (Sandra) took great care of us. Food was great, service was great. This will be one of my new Bee Cave faves!

Lovely ambiance but...

By kgkraemer |

Unable to sit outside as all tables were taken. Some tables were reserved. Lovely décor and atmosphere. Manager was exceptionally attentive. Service was slow. Food was average. No bread or chips and salsa offered. Chicken was heavily breaded and had a bland peach topping. Shrimp were good but sauce tasted like cocktail sauce I could buy in a store. Ran out of lemon-lime pie on a Saturday night. Am willing to give it another try and hopefully sit outside.

Great Dinner!

By Sara76502 |

We really enjoyed the veggie bean burger and Bison Chile. Oh. Yes... the honey cornbread was delicious. Very friendly service and nice wait staff.

Surprisingly good in all respects

By edcreekmore@hotmail.com |

We reviewed all the critiques on here about the Chisos Grill, and especially the negative ones. We decided to see for ourselves this evening. Someone said the decor was "over the top" redneck bumpkin. We disagree. It has a Texas and Southwest ambiance, but there was no stuff bull hanging on the wall and talking to you like there is at County Line. It was pleasant. Someone said the wait staff left something to be desired. Not tonight! The young lady was knowledgeable and attentive. Not only that, she was patient with the party of 6 drunks sitting next to us, all getting louder by the drink, and who rudely ignored her when she tried to take their order. She made FOUR trips to do that, and they were curt and cavalier towards her. She kept her smile and her composure, and treated them in a courteous and professional manner while they deserved to be ignored. Some didn't like the food. I honestly can't figure out why. It is true that their little corn bread muffins are not on par with the corn bread at Z Tejas, but they tasted good. The tortilla crusted salmon I had was really quite exquisite, and the apple bacon slaw was sweet and delicious. My wife said her sinful chicken fried steak was ok, but that the gravy was especially tasty. She liked it. The only aspect that I didn't like it that they bring in a live band in the evenings, and the honky tonk music isn't to everyone's liking. Moreover, it is too loud for that small an area. So, on balance, we liked Chisos Grill and we will go back for more really good food. We will avoid the times when they have a band going on, but others might like that. We have a listing of about a dozen favorites in the Central Texas area, and as of tonight the Chisos Grill is on that list. If you are looking for perfection, you will have to pay a price a lot higher than what you will be charged at Chisos Grill. '

Invisible?

By 2chixgarden |

We stopped in to this grill on Sunday for a late lunch around 230ish. The restaurant was pretty empty. We took a booth in the "ghost" bar & waited for someone to wait on us, and waited, and waited. Finally about 10-15 min of chatting with my friends, & still no wait staff. I walked over to the bar (which was empty too and only about 4 steps from our table) & asked the bartender if there was wait service or did we order from the bar. He said he would get someone over to help us. Finnnaalllyyy, a waitress came to our table. We tried to ordered a couple of drinks but neither she nor the bartender knew what kind of flavored vodka they had, which was fine. She was pretty short in her tone & proceeded to tell us how they had just gotten "spanked" by the Sunday church crowd & how she hated Sunday's. While we were waiting for our drinks, another waitress came to our table & we ordered an appetizer with her. We were secretly hoping she would be our waitress since she seemed to be more upbeat. Meanwhile, another 7-10 min go by, & we see the first waitress just now ordering our drinks from the bartender, since we are steps away from the bar & the place is pretty much empty. At this point, we begin to feel like the lack of service is not just "by chance", but either by choice or just a real lack of care for customer satisfaction. At this point, we had been there approx 30 min, with no drink, etc., so we decided to cut our losses & leave since this was continuing to go downhill. So we left, stopped at the bar & waitstaff & cancelled our drinks & appetizer & left, which was more consideration then they had given us...

Perfect weather for dining

By firedragon3d |

Perfect weather for dining al fresco so we did, before even ordering the waiter we had seemed annoyed when asked for a drink suggestion, but then I chose one and we ordered our food. The drink arrived (Mexican Martini) and it was horrible- tasted mostly of olive juice, but I drank it anyway and decided next drink would be something different for sure. I wanted to order the (ultimate margarita) and asked the waiter if they served disaronno - to which he replied “I don’t think so”, but made no effort to confirm. So I ask him if he would like to check as this was paramount to my drink choice as I like it mixed with margaritas. He departed the table, returned about 10 minutes later to tell me that they do have it. Great! I’d like to order the margarita with a shot of disaronno, no salt on the margarita, even reminded him again as he walked away no salt on the margarita. Well guess what was on my tiny margarita glass? Salt ruins the drink for me so it’s not so simple to just brush it off as it falls into the drink. I was upset, asked the manager to remove the drink and shot from my tab as they didn’t arrive as ordered. Point of points, the food was great, I was impressed with their menu and the flavor was great. The service was bad, rude, and unprofessional and unless you enjoy crappy pricey cocktails, I’d avoid those entirely at this joint.

Jalapeño Redfish is amazing!!

By CBella123 |

This is my second visit to Chisos Grill and I have had the same meal twice and it was amazing both times!! The flavors and textures of the Jalapeño Redfish with the lump crab on top and the cheddar grit cake made my mouth sing. Even though it has jalapeño it is not too spicy. If you love seafood, this is a meal worth having again and again!

Fun spot with good food

By Gran7 |

Chisos Grill is in a great location and a favorite of the locals. Nice casual atmosphere with sports TV watchiing available. The waitstaff is very attentive and friendly. Fun place for kids. Nice variety is offered on the menu. Entree salads are big and delicious. Fun live entertainment is offered and fun if you get there when the guitarist is playing. Good southwestern cuisine with entertaining decor

Awesome appetizers!

By whithughes21 |

During happy hour (every day 4:30-6:30), it’s 50% appetizers and drink specials as well. We got the chicken tenders (way better than normal fried tenders - these had a great breading), salsa trio, and the truffle fries. All of them were incredible. And it was such fast service! Highly recommend.

Loved outside seating

By safetyass |

Just had drinks, but would love to go back and eat. Very chill atmosphere. Staff was friendly and courteous. Many great menu items to pick from.

Good basic southwest pub food

By Rhroncich |

I liked that some of the foods were locally sourced. Ok Burger, bison chili was a little spicier than expected. Great service. Pretty loud since there was some college football game on the TV.

Moved into a much nicer space

By t4689 |

Chisos Grill has moved a few doors up and across from their old location. The old space was OK but this is a real step up! The food remains wonderfully fresh and well prepared. Bonus: safe for gluten-sensitive diners!

Outstanding Alpine Salad and Grilled Quail

By Judy T |

I had dinner at Chisos Grill at the Galleria in Bee Cave while shopping last Saturday. The Alpine Salad with cilantro lime vinaigrette was delicious as it always is and the grilled quail was moist and delicious. The quail can also be ordered with a cornbread stuffing and red chile cream sauce which I have tried previously but found it a bit too spicy. The cornbread mini muffins and Southwest butter spread they serve when you sit down are delicious. I ordered the French green beans as my vegetable and they were prepared with onions and bacon: really good. I cannot recommend the broccoli since I have ordered it several times and it is always too undercooked for me to enjoy. This is a fun casual restaurant for the entire family. Someone always comes by to check and make sure you are happy with the food which is appreciated. If not, they fix it.

The Drinks weren't Even Good

By austinbillgolfer |

First the drinks: the Top Shelf Margarita was disgustingly sweet with no flavor of alcohol. The Gin available limited. One of us ordered highly recommended Bacon Glazed Pork Chop with Bacon jam. It was swimming in a an overly sweet concoction. I ordered the Green Chili burger which was delivered with no Green Chili. It was returned with the Chili but was cold and bun was dry & hard by that time. Also ordered truffled fries which came out soggy and limp. These were removed from the bill. When it was time to leave, it took forever to settle the bill.

Really good food!

By RachelM1019 |

We've gone here a lot for happy hour because we love the outdoor seating. Recently sat inside for dinner and just have to say the food was delicious! Especially loved the pulled pork tostadas and the salad with brisket. Our waitress was very nice and attentive as well. Ate there on a Thursday night, no wait. Definitely one of our favorite places in the area.

Good food - could use a little more flavor

By Julie B |

The food was good but a little bland in taste. I had pork tacos and until I aded BBQ sauce no real flavor...the best part of the meal was the mini cornbread muffins with butter seasoned with garlic & chili powder...YUM...but they ran out of those. We had the stuffed jalepenos - they were ok...but bland in taste until we added honey mustard & BBQ sauce to dip in. Everything looked really good jut not enough flavor for me.

Really good and GLUTEN FREE!

By t4689 |

We've eaten here often and never had a bad meal. Food is fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Waitstaff is always competent and courteous. Pleasant decor. The two separate areas allow for a choice of atmosphere. Most importantly for me: they are careful with regard to gluten and other food sensitivities. I can enjoy a number of dishes here which I don't dare eat elsewhere.

Very nice

By Jonathan S |

Not really big but it does have a nice outside patio. Not your typical average Southwest restaurant nice twists on each dish reasonable prices

Service varies

By MB78737 |

The service is sometimes good, sometimes bad. The beer is always cold. The appetizers are good. The atmosphere is a little too family friendly. People feel free to let their kids run and stomp on the patio just because it is outdoors. I am sure the staff can't do anything about the kids.

I guess we weren't important

By Sharon R |

After ordering a $23 meal, it was dropped off by someone/not our server and they were done. The steak was terrible. Over cooked and chewy is not how I like my steak. When some other stranger eventually came by and took our dishes, she was nonplussed by the remark "it was horrible". My plate was full when it was removed and no manager was called. We used to be quite regular customers but now would not recommend this. FRIENDS Please don't waste your money

CATFISH AND other stuff

By Jerry G |

I always order the catfish. My dates (several) have ordered other excellent selections. Service has always been excellent. Adult beverages are fare priced. I will be back, this is my local catfish place

Great Burgers

By TheElf71 |

They did a great job with the food. Cooked perfectly and timely. Attentive servers but not obsessive. Everyone was very friendly.

Chisos is a new restaurant with excellent food!

By imAngelfish |

The owner and manager of Chisos is Chad Jones. Chad was formally the manager of Gumbos in Austin. If you enjoy fresh fish and unique dishes with a southwestern flavor Chisos is the restaurant for you. All the food is excellent and I highly recommend Chisos.

Wow for the fried fish

By ginah56 |

Really good crust on fried fish is no small feat, but this place can do it! The shrimp and catfish is a favorite with good portions and a crispy cornmeal based crust. The slaw is a tasty sweeter take on coleslaw, and I like to substitute grits for the fries on the platters. Hush puppies are not to my liking; too moist on the filling. Atmosphere is good and the bar has a broad choice. Go to the galleria, see a movie, library for a read, and throw in a little shopping. But making Chisos part of your visit is a great idea.

Could have been better

By Jamie P |

Tonight was our first time trying Chisos Grill. We were excited to try it bc we’ve always heard great things. Due to the very chilly weather, we opted to do take out. I had the chicken fried steak. Sadly, the gravy was not packed with my order so what could have been a really great dish turned into a very dry dish which I was unable to eat much of. We clearly ordered the gravy and even asked if it was spicy when ordering. We will give Chisos another chance at some point.

service – friendly and competent.

By dt95 |

I thought Chisos was pretty good, not great. The margaritas have a good taste and are not overly sweet. They were not as potent as I expected. Not watered down, just not as good as they could have been. I had the tortilla soup, which really tasted great, although a little salty. I was also surprised a bowl was more than twice as expensive as a cup. Usually a buck or two more and I don’t think it was twice as much. If so, a cup is really small. The steak salad I had was nicely done. The steak was cooked to my liking, was a nice cut of meat and had a good taste. Steak salad was the highlight of my meal. I thought service was very good – friendly and competent.

Over priced

By Seanboy48 |

The quantity and especially quality of the food DOES NOT justify the high prices! The servings are super tiny and served on miniature doll house plates. If the food had any wow factor I would understand but everything was very bland and boring. The “jumbo shrimp” as labeled on the menu was a joke! 7 tiny (I’m guessing frozen) shrimp and a small side of average fries for 16.50! Ridiculous! The taco “plates” which are smaller than appetizer plates at most any restaurant were a waste of 15.50! The “brisket” tacos were made with tastless, shredded, boiled looking beef of some sort. The tortilla soup had good flavor and texture but not quite worth the 5 dollars for a small cup. The 6 dollar wedge salad was decent but nothing spectacular and again much smaller than from any other restaurant. On the upside, the decor, cleanliness, and staff service were very pleasing, but not enough for me to ever visit again. Way too many better options in the area.

Very Good Southwestern Menu

By Vince C |

I loved the menu - including the New Mexico green chilis and the steak. Very good selection. Very good atmosphere. Very good food.

Very Nice

By Bill |

My wife and I met my brother and his family for lunch and the food was excellent. The restaurant is located on a corner in Hill Country Galleria and has ample parking close by.

Everything's Good and much is gluten free!

By Hard_to_Feed |

Chisos has a great varied menu and everything is good. I especially like the peppadeaux stuffed with goat cheese and the pulled pork with sweet potato fries. My husband loves the queso and the excellent burgers. I am very hard to feed being allergic to most food, but I have many options at Chisos. My favorite beverage is the top shelf margarita with Paula's Texas Orangs and fresh squeezed lime juice. I've often watched my husband as he enjoyed one of the many items from the desert menu. Whether you are food challenged or just looking for a really good meal, you can't go wrong at Chisos Grill. You will enjoy the friendly and caring wait staff as well.

Good but.............

By Betty J |

Chisos Grill has excellent food. Everything we and friends have tried has been wonderful fish, chicken, steak, all the unique sides are good as well (we have been going since the week it opened). Servers are attentive and owners very personable. However Jacob the manager is extremely rude and immature so use caution if he is working when you go there. He might just take your food away from you.

Now he tells me!

By cheryl8here |

We were visiting our son in Austin and he suggested Chisos Grill. I knew I had to write a review when my husband pronounced the tortilla crusted salmon as extraordinary. I don't think he's ever used that word for any food before. He was smart enough to finish the dish before raving about it so he didn't have to share. The rest of us enjoyed our dinners as well, but I can't wait to return to Austin to try the salmon.

Never Disappoints!

By TexHorn3 |

This place is simply a jewel in the Bee Cave/Lakeway area. The biggest problem we encounter here is simply deciding which delectable entree we're going to pick out from the wide assortment of offerings. We're always cheerfully greeted by employees that make an effort to make our experience a pleasurable and enjoyable one. Our last visit allowed us to hear the musical duo of Bob Cheevers and Stephen Doster while we dined and relaxed in the Ghost Bar area. After finally selecting the Tortilla Crusted Salmon, my wife decided on the Chicken Nueces and both dishes and their accompanying sides were excellent. Luckily, we rarely indulge in dessert...but their sweet stuff is very difficult to resist. The Peaches/ice cream/caramel/candied walnuts is simply decadent and the Lemon-Lime Pie with strawberries and whipped cream will definitely satisfy your sugar craving. Once again, kudos to Chad and the staff for another excellent reminder of why we love to head to Chisos when we can't decide what to fix at home!

Good!

By Wendy Gray |

Great atmosphere! The food was pretty good! Shrimp dinner was ordered—just ok. Nothing spectacular. Pecan crushed chicken nueces was amazing! Wedge salad—regular salad but with blue cheese—didn’t really “constitute” as a wedge salad that I’ve had..but was ok. Pulled pork burger was great and so were the truffle fries! The amazing app was the cornbread!! Overall—service was great! Food could have been better, but atmosphere was very nice!

Excellent Menu with many GF options!

Chisos Grill has become one of our favorite restaurants in Austin. The owner has done a great job with offering many choices on the menu for someone that has a gluten allergy. I feel like I can eat here without any concerns. Everything we have tried has been awesome. The pulled pork entree and sides are the BEST. There are also great lunch specials that include a drink and their tortilla soup, which is really special.

Exceptional Food

Chisos' Grill is a nice fast casual restaurant with a Southwestern slant. The food is very tasty and well presented. Wait staff is attentive. Look for Groupons before you dine.

Awesome Service!

By Gran7 |

My son and his wife reserved Chisos for a graduation party for our grandson. The staff went above board to make sure everyone was totally taken care of. Over 150 people came and the food was always hot and ready. Great Texas Mex choices! A great experience.

We are local Lake Travis family and need gluten free options ... This local gem offers daily specials handmade dressings , sides , desserts and fresh locally sourced food . They are happy to accommodate diet restrictions and take to go orders . The new location is beautiful and has beautiful decor . Big congratulations to the success of our local folks .

True Southwestern Food & Hospitality

By Chuck D |

Like an oasis in the desert, we felt rescued from the kitschy themed restaurants peppered throughout Austin. At Chisos literally everything is Southwestern, from the chic and charming decor to the many little twists on the menu. Pretty sure it is family owned and operated and it shows. Everything was spotless. We arrived late, very near closing time and yet we were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. After being seated by a hostess the manager was first to greet us and offered us cornbread and drinks even before our server arrived. The cornbread were little mini muffins served with a unique chipotle butter. ¡Muy delicioso! Our server, Warner, was attentive and knowledgeable. She helped us select from the menu and we landed on Mesquite grilled salmon for our son, the large spinach salad with grilled chicken breast for mama and the catfish basket for me. While it may seem hard to screw up catfish, it is equally hard to do it to perfection, yet that is what Chisos did. The catfish was absolutely perfect, and the black beans were something special. I was told the other entrees were equally enjoyable. It should be noted that Chisos boasts local ingredients whenever possible and the freshness was evident in everything we enjoyed, Also, they offer a large selection of Texas beers and Texas wines. Now don't turn your nose up at Texas wines until you have tried them, some of which will put California offerings to shame. Even though we were the last patrons we were never made to feel rushed. The manager even cooked another batch of the mini cornbread muffins just for us (we were sure the chef had already clocked out). We just can't say enough positive things about Chisos. If you are in the Galleria area you must eat here and if you aren't it is worth the drive. Go see a movie and eat here before or after. You won't regret it.

Happily Happened Upon

A nearby shop representative suggested Chisos for a good early dinner, and we're glad he did. My wife had a Green Chile Burger and I had the Chicken Sandwich. Both were well prepared. My chicken was tender and enhanced by a chipotle aioli sauce. I would have liked a little more of that stuff! I didn't try my wife's burger, so can only say it met her expectations. The fries were good - if you like a lot of catsup, though, you may be disappointed, I'm sure I could have asked for more, but since my wife doesn't use it, I got by with hers. We had all the service support we could have asked for, and the meals came out in a reasonable time. If you're not a shopper at the Galleria stores it may be a bit daunting to get to this location. It's worth finding, however, if you pass through Bee Cave at lunch or dinner time.

Not your average Tex-Mex

By Rufus318 |

My family considers this establishment one that serves Texas ranch food rather than a standard Tex-Mex. The variety is good and we have been pleased so far at every visit which probably number about 4. The queso with shredded pork in it is very good. We have not ordered a beer yet, but they have a great sounding selection. The entree items are hearty and filling, some are recommended to share. Salads are also good here. We have been blessed with good service on our visits and we would recommend this to anyone looking for something a little bit different than their usual dining spot.

Fresh and Creative Menu!

Another Open Table find in the Bee Cave/Galleria area. Excellent selections. Green chili scampi, stuffed quail on cheese grits, half rack of special seasoned baby back ribs ... All was different and good!

Great food; atmosphere

We always plan to eat here at least once while in Lakeway. The food is always first class, the service is prompt and friendly, and prices are reasonable.

Best Tasting Food

By imAngelfish |

Chisos Grill is located in the Galleria in Bee Cave, Texas, nearby to downtown Austin. My wife and I eat at Chisos often because the food is fresh and delicious. My favorite is the grilled salmon, topped with Chad's Lobster Bisque and lobster chunks. Two side come with this meal (I prefer the broccoli). I say, with out exaggeration, that the food is the best in the Austin area.

Outstanding food...I will come back!!!

Great food and great service. Beautiful restaurant near great shops!! The blue corn cornbread is amazing!!! Jalapeño corn grits are a must try!!!!

Very good menu and quality

By Gregory W |

First visit and very much enjoyed the lunch. Food quality was excellent and presentation was very nice. Difficult menu choices which is a good problem to have. Nice atmosphere for business or social lunch. Not a great location for parking at times but was not a problem on a Monday at noon. Look forward to going again, oh and the service was very good.

Exceptional attention to service and customer experience

By James Frinzi |

My wife and I have food allergies, and this place is one of the best in the City to dine. The menu is probably 90% gluten free. With regards to other allergies, the manager came out and personally took our order and made modifications where needed. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It was similar to the level of attention you get at Disney, which is impressive from my perspective. The food consists of things like burgers, salads, pork chops and similar things. I had the burger and a spinach salad. The bun is made from scratch on premise and it was very good. The burger was average and over cooked. My wife enjoyed her chicken salad a lot though. The wine selection is horrible at best. Probably one of the worst in the Galleria. However, my wife enjoyed her margarita. The service and atmosphere were so impressive that I will have to go back and try some of the other menu options.

Southwestern food in Norwest Austin

Good fresh Texas Wedge Salad with tangy blue cheese dressing followed by amazingly tender Baby Back Ribs. They were framed by a zesty sweet BBQ sauce. This place is a great find. And on our return-often list.

Love Chisos

By QuickdrawTX |

My wife and I have been eating here since it opened years ago. I wanted to review our last visit and let people know that the restaurant moved locations in the Galleria. I once again had the Chicken Fried Steak - my favorite! My wife had Diablo chicken and it was great too. I recommend the Apple Coleslaw as a side. The food is always good - and they have many Gluten free dishes. This is excellent Southwestern cuisine and Love eating out here.

Restaurant is OK, but not great

By NickInChina1 |

I have visited and dined in this restaurant twice -- the first time the experience was not that great. Why? I ordered pulled port sandwich which also had french fries with it. Well, there was nothing preventing the fries from getting soggy in the juice from the pulled pork. By the time I got to the fries they were pretty mushy.... So I decided - no need to come again. Last weekend friends of mine convinced me to try it again. I did. Ordered chille relleno - poblano pepper stuffed with rice and meat; The dish had also a vegetarian option. I ordered the meat version. Well, I was brought the vegetarian one....How hard can this be??? I had to complain in order to get the right meal... Yes, the restaurant offers good deals on food and drink - but I wish they can actually serve the food better

I was taken to Chisos for my birthday

Great food and service. The atmosphere was fun. The prices were a little more than I would want to pay, but still reasonable.

Great food, service and atmosphere!

Lived Up to Its Good Reviews

I was disappointed at first when Insaw this place is in a mall. However it's not part of a chain. Was there for lunch with wife on vacation. I had whiskey mule & she had a margarita, both good. My wife had shrimp wrapped in bacon which she loved! I had a chicken sandwich that was excellent. Both of us had grits sides - very good too. All in all excellent lunch, I would go back, and I would recommend to others. Price was medium high.

really good food

Come for the 1/2 price appetizers including $5 dz oysters! But stay for the interesting main courses. The stuffed quail was awesome.

A cut above the others

After being honorary grandparents for the morning at a local school with our neighbors, they suggested we have lunch at Chisos Grill. I was skeptical because the Galleria restaurants are usually "too cool" by half and way overpriced. I must say, I am glad we agreed to go. The decor is southwestern and spaciously laid out. The music is appropriate and played at a comfortable level. We had two young children with us and the host seated us at a large table within a roomy alcove like area. Our server arrived seconds later and took drink orders. I opted for the Top Z Margarita. It was very good although I think $9 is a bit stiff for even a top shelf drink. The beer is more reasonably priced and they do have less expensive frozen margaritas. We selected the Roasted Poblano and Pulled Pork Queso with tortilla chips as well as the Four Pepper Salsa and tortilla chips. The chips were fresh and warm, the pulled pork queso was simply superb and the salsa was some of the best I have eaten locally. Caution: do not fill up on appetizers! My lunch selection was the Pulled Pork Sandwich with chipotle aioli, peppadew peppers, and sliced pickles. A huge sandwich overflowing with succulent pork. Hint: two could split this plate and both would be stuffed. My wife ordered a side of Pinto Beans with Jalapeno sausage and some fries. The beans were wonderful. Our friends chose the Chicken Fried Steak with green chile gravy and a 6 oz. Black Angus Choice Beef Tenderloin. We all had bites of each and both of these plates were amazing. The tenderloin had a wonderful flavor, coated with a rub of some sort and was very tender. The chicken fried steak was excellent. The service was friendly and fast, the food was outstanding and they have a daily happy hour to boot (3-6 PM) offering reduced drink prices and some half-priced appetizers. Chisos is definitely NOT a run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. The quality, quantity and flavor of their food deserve accolades. If you are in the Galleria looking for a great place to relax and have some tasty morsels, look no further than Chisos Grill!

Great Texas food

The food was great here and the staff was very attentive. Playlist was great — would highly recommend. We had brisket and pulled pork- delicious

So DELICIOUS that I came back the next day!!!

By MichaelS848484 |

I stumbled across this place when I was hungry, & I didn’t expect anything spectacular; I just wanted to get a quick meal. I wandered in just after they opened, so it wasn’t crowded. I was greeted kindly and was seated immediately. My server (Sandra) came right over, too, & she couldn’t have been nicer. She was back with my drink before I’d even finished looking at the menu. I got the Presidio Tostadas (pulled pork, apple bacon slaw, & chipotle aioli) as an appetizer. OMG, they were amazing. There were six of them, & I didn’t plan on eating all of them, but… they were so good that I couldn’t resist! As my main course, I got the Chipotle Barbecue Salmon Tacos. The manager (owner?) had come over to check on me, & I was debating between several dishes. He told me this one (the salmon tacos) were “a hidden gem.” He wasn’t wrong; they were fantastic! So tasty! I was impressed with the way the flavors all complimented one another. The cheese grits were my side, & those were really good, too. The service continued to excel even though the place began to fill up with the lunch crowd. I walked out very full & extremely satisfied! I kept thinking about that meal, & I was still in town the next day, so…. I went back to Chisos Grill for round 2! On this day, I got the Oven Roasted Poblano Queso with pulled pork as my appetizer. Once again, I was wowed! The e was a TON of pulled pork in the queso, & the flavor was great. As my entree on day 2, I wanted something I couldn’t get back home, so I got the Jalapeño Texas Redfish. Once again, the FLAVORS!!! It was DELICIOUS with the jalapeño cream sauce, grilled shrimp, & jalapeño hollandaise. I told my server that the sauce was so good it could be a soup! The service on the second day was great again (a guy this time, but I forgot his name). Also, the same manager (Chad) checked on me; he remembered me from the day before & thanked me for coming back. I guess I’m lucky I don’t live in the area because I could see myself gaining a LOT of weight if I could eat here often. I hope to get back to the Austin area just so I can visit this place again. If you’re there, go try this place. It doesn’t look like it would be this fantastic, but IT IS AWESOME!!!

so so at best

By J E |

We have given this place a couple of tries. With groups, with family, with just myself and my husband. It is ok. My biggest issue is actually finding something on the menu, that I like. I am not a huge fan of fried food or overly spicy food. The menu has a ton of both. The wait staff is young. So young many can't bring you drinks to the table. The bartenders have to bring them. The food that I do order is ok. Nothing special and usually something on my plate is cold. Last night the green beans were not even room temperature while other things on my plate were so hot it burnt the top of my mouth. The noise level can be high. I find myself having to yell for people to hear me. A so so place at best. After last nights experience it may have been our last.

Great food and atmosphere in the bar.

By Tracy S |

We love this place and eat there often. We usually sit at the bar and the service is great. Plenty of TVs to watch sports. I have not had a meal that I didn't like. Prices are fair.

If average is good enough

By SibylleR2010 |

Boyfriend and I ate at Chisos on a Wednesday evening and it was a rather disappointing meal that I have to tell you about this. The ambiance is sports bar/casual dining and decor certainly south western which has it's appeal. The waiter was a little too efficient and was trying to upsell in an almost rude way. The Margarita, top shelf, well- was a mix and not top notch. I ordered the ceasar salad with shrimp, some western style preparation but the shrimp where not fresh and in spite of me loving shrimp I could not eat them. The boyfriends dish was equally lackluster, prepared without finesse. We also ordered the calamari, too breaded and flavorless. Just not a place I am craving to go back to...

Love the Happy Hour Menu

By RickATX |

This is a great place for the BEST Margaritas and happy hour menu! The peppadew peppers stuffed with goat cheese, the chicken fingers and pulled pork queso are the best!

Nice little olace

This was recommended to us - good food and drinks. They have half price appetizers and drink specials in the evenings. The service was great and always refilling water and tea. Resonable prices.

My husband and I visited Chisos Grill recently and were very pleased with the food and service. Our server Brittany suggested we try the Presidio Tostadas as an appetizer. They were excellent. We both ordered the Pork Chop which was very good. For dessert we had the Lemon Lime Pie which was delicious. Overall dinner was top notch and our server Brittany was very attentive!!

Good Southwest food!

By RB0417 |

The food here is really good. I've tried a lot of different stuff here and it's all really good. The rocks house margarita is awesome as well. I liked the vibe better in the old location, but the food is still good enough to bring me into the new spot. Super glad to see it there over Zingers

bar food

By snootyfoodie2015 |

its probably a good bet for bar food. good place to watch football in the bar, chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy and little corn muffins. its ok, but not gonna blow anybody away.

Overpriced

By MyZiggyMan |

I've been twice now with friends, and both experiences left me feeling like I paid way too much for mediocre food. Example: southwest salad w/fried chicken, order of fries, iced tea and tip = $35. Dinner another night: two appetizers, 1 glass of wine & tip = $40. If the food was outstanding, I wouldn't mind so much, but it isn't. Atmosphere & staff are good. Nice patio area for good weather days. Don't think I'll be back for a third visit, though.

Loved This Place!

By bohste |

My wife and I met with our financial advisor for lunch and it's located in the Hill Country Galleria. My understanding is that they just moved in this part of the Galleria after having a restaurant in another place. The outside of the restaurant is appealing with lots of outdoor seating under trees. When you walk in it is a very welcoming eclectic design with a fire glass fireplace with booths and tables throughout. It's not a large place and you can actually have conversations since it's not very noisy. They had all kinds of gluten-free options that my wife was happy for and they had some very unique dishes, too. My wife ordered a bowl of the tortilla soup and she absolutely raved about how good it was. Our guest and I ordered the Firecracker Shrimp tacos and they, too, were outstanding. They were fresh shrimp with cabbage slaw in small tortillas and they had a nice kick to them. Prices aren't cheap, but the service and food quality were well worth it.

Loved Chisos Grill

My husband and I visited Chisos Grill recently and were very pleased with the food and service. Their appetizer and drink specials were many, especially during Happy Hour. We ordered steak and it was cooked to perfection. We will go back!
