After waiting an hour and 45 minutes with no communication, after inquiring we were told they were out of ribeyes. The order was placed at 5:15 for 6:30 pickup. Left after 8:15 with no food. Absolutely nothing was done correctly. Complete failure. Hygiene was atrocious. Not acceptable for fast food, much less a restaurant claiming to be an “icon”.

Amazing triple cut lamb chops & fries lobster tails!!

By AJAYColumbus |

Best fried lobster tails Ive ever had! Amazing wine list & the triple cut lamb chops & bone in ribeye melt in your mouth! The atmosphere is chic & elegant and the service is always impeccable! Would rate Chops a perfect 10!

I have been coming for years. It always has been my favorite place always will. 10 years and I can't still live with out the steak tar tar. ❤

Great food, great service.

By Darcy C |

Bone in rib eye was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. Steak tartar yummy. Foie gras sumptuous and rich. Service was outstanding - Matt and Doug took good care of us. Water glasses and wine consistently filled. Great dining experience.

Excellent on All Levels

This was my first visit and I absolutely loved it. I visited on a Saturday night to celebrate a friends' birthday with 5 other people. We had a reservation for 6 people at 6:00 pm. You can only valet at the restaurant, but it was very convenient and the fee was only $2. We walked in and gave the name of our reservation. It took them a second to find it because there are actually 2 restaurants in 1, even though they have the same menu. We had no idea which one we were supposed to be at, but they found it. We took the elevator to the second floor and found our friends waiting at the bar for us. We were promptly seated. We started out with drinks and many appetizers: crab cakes (excellent), truffle parmesan fries (excellent), regular fries (excellent), calamari (excellent) and a selection of bread (excellent) with olive oil. Once we devoured those, we moved onto to our entrees. I had the special, which was a 6 ounce filet on top of a potato cake with mushrooms and sauce. It was excellent and I ate every bite. Other in our party had the NY strip and salmon and raved about them. Additionally, we had several sides such as the onion rings (my favorite), mashed potatoes and broccoli. For dessert, someone in our party had ordered a cake from someone else and brought it, so they were kind enough to serve that to us. The service was excellent and extremely attentive. Everyone, including staff, wore masks when moving around the restaurant and they had everyone spaced out, appropriately. While this place is a bit pricy, it is worth every penny.

Gone extremely down hill and terrible service

By Molly W |

I’ve been going here with my family for over ten years. We go with family and friends and for all special occasions. Most recently, they changed the policy to be any more than six people, You have to sign a contract and pay a deposit. We didn’t want to do that because we didn’t know what plans will change or the final headcount, so we just made two separate reservations, and they made a note to seat us nearby each other. Once we arrived, the hosts at the front were beyond nasty. You would think that the manager would be a help but instead, he just stood there and shook his head. He was also equally as rude. Our entire family was shocked as we’ve become regulars throughout the years. After finally agreeing to seat us, they put the two tables on OPPOSITE sides of the entire dining room. They could’ve at least pretended to be accommodating but they wouldn’t even try. The tables next to each individual one of ours remained empty the entire evening. Keep in mind we were also there at 5pm, so the entire restaurant was empty. After being seated, the hosts said some nasty things to the waiters so nobody would come over to serve our table or take our orders. We ended up having to flag someone down. The service was awful and truly cannot get over how rude and un accommodating they were. All they could’ve said is we’re so sorry but the tables aren’t available nearby and it would’ve been totally different. We still ended up paying $5,000 for terrible service and mediocre food. It’s upsetting a place that has always been our favorite and we are certainly never going back.

4 business guys get better service than family of 3

By truffles444 |

went to Chops for a special occasion and had a great meal, the appetizer of the lobster was great. Our party was my mother, my wife and myself, so we had lamb chops, veal cowgirl chop, and an 8 oz filet with some sides all of which were great. So why 4 stars not 5, it was the miss that the table behind of 4 business guys having the 72 oz "tomahawk" steak and a nice bottle of wine, they were given bordeaux or cabernet style glasses, while I brought in a bottle for corkage which was an "06 chateau Canon. I should have asked for bordeaux glasses and had 3 other wines that I thought of opening and if I had chosen another I would have asked for the wine to be decanted.. So in conclusion if you are dining as a family and as bringing in a 20 year old Bordeaux or California cabernet, ask for the balloon glasses, otherwise those will be given to the 4 business guys who ordered the big steak, but were talked into the $300 cab.

Best combination of great food and service!

By Maureen W |

As expected, our visit to the Lobster Bar was both relaxing and scrumptious. The service from Eduardo was attentive but not overbearing. The steak was appropriate temperature and the crab cakes could not be beat! The seafood trio was a hit as well. Looking forward to my return in two nights!

Great Service!!! Food.....

By Desmond |

We visited Chops this weekend with a few other couples. The service is awesome however the food is not impressive. The Calamari fried lobster tail appetizers werre awesome however all six of our steaks/lamb chops were overcooked and lacked high end steakhouse taste. The side of Mac & Cheese was very bland and more on the creamy side than cheesy side. We have been here several times with the same experience and will not visit again. We will stick to our number one Atlanta steakhouse which us right around the corner, The Capital Grille. Much better good!

Amazing Luxurious Dining Experience

By Danny Barton |

One of the best meals I have ever had. Rare steak is a difficult thing to get absolutely perfect, but the chef at Chops did just that. The waiter was courteous and professional without being too friendly. Not a place for the faint-of-wallet, but you get what you pay for.

Fine Dining and Amazing Food!

By ljrapp16 |

Went here for a business lunch and was not disappointed. The place is very nice but very loud. The food was amazing! The service was just okay. They could have been a bit more attentive. We had to ask for things twice, which for a place this expensive should not have been. I have the best fried lobster tail I have ever had! The lamb chops were so good I picked up the bones and ate every bit of meat. I recommend if you have the money to eat here. You will not be disappointed.

Always a great evening with the bar. Great food and Festus is on it! Our guests loved the experience! You can’t fake fresh!

An excellent place for a special occasion or event ~

By A_V_Wedding_Lady |

One of the delicious things we ordered was a porterhouse steak for two, with truffle butter. I would highly recommend ordering this. It comes all ready cut away from the bone in slices. I will return ~

50th Anniversary

By GaryC54 |

Visited here for first time in years for our 50th anniversary. Were welcomed and promptly shown to our table near a window with a little privacy near a corner. Service and food were excellent. We were shown just the right amount of attention. Prices a little steep but this was a special occasion and we were prepared for the bill. Hope to return soon.

Excellent Food!

By IA_Farmer1985 |

Ate here recently on a business trip. The steaks at this restaurant are top notch! The restaurant does have a dress code, so you should plan ahead for that- and the prices are high, but definitely worth it. If I am in town, will definitely plan on stopping in again! The sides are a-la- carte and definitely shareable.

Birthday celebration

By Toy |

First I don't know where to start, I must say number one the service was terrible. I have never seen a top-scale restaurant service this horrible. I was a party of 12 first bread was cold we asked can we get it warms up came back it was hard as a rock. the server did an awful job she needs to go back to training. the food had no taste, I had order old fashioned drink...as I was drinking hair was in my drink. We wait for about 45 minutes before we could get some services, all other table was getting assistance. The server skips my table and serves everyone around us we waited 45 minutes before we could get a drink or appetizer. All tables had hand sanitizer expected our table. the waitresses were overcharging us on the bill. Please don't waste your time going to one of the worst ,very professional. for the price, you expected a little more. Very extremely amateurish.

Terrific Steakhouse

By Mark P |

Chops is first rate in every way: the food and drinks are terrific, the setting is nice, and service is first rate. I would happily return.

Lobster Bar is Great Fun.

By hstedman |

IMO, forget Chops; only go to the Lobster Bar. LB is fun. Chops is old. We had a great time Matthew was a wonderful waiter. Lots of talent from rappers to local celebs. Everyone enjoying themselves and leaving the stars unmolested.

Fantastic

By Ksg1092 |

My favorite restaurant in ATL! The food, service and atmosphere are fantastic! The filet and lobster are amazing! You won’t be disappointed!

Chops is Tops!!

By parishk |

Just went for an Anniversary dinner. The restaurant is packed every night...because it is so good! The staff could not be nicer, friendlier or more efficient. The food is outstanding (even though one steak was a little "too" done). The Manager is ever present to make sure everyone is happy. It's a beautiful spot with wonderful ambiance and lighting. (Hate sitting with a spotlight on my head!) Pricey..but worth it. Highly recommend.

So very good and right next door to the St Regis. Steak Tatar is incredible. Seafood incredible. Service incredible. What else do you need? Bar scene is upscale.

Wonderful Birthday Dinner

By StevenHScher |

I love lobster. I could eat it 3 meals a day. We made a reservation in advance & requested a 2 pound female lobster ( I love the roe). Sure enough they reserved a beautiful 2 pound female lobster, steamed ($64). It was absolutely delicious. They removed the meat from the claws, so it made less work. We shared a lettuce wedge salad, which they split for us ($14). It was delicious. My fife had the salmon & sea bass hong kong style ($36). It was served with steamed spinach & rice. The fish was exquisite & the light sweet flavored soy sauce was fantastic. To finish off the fantastic service, they served me a complimentary piece of chocolate mousse cake. This was a great eating experience. Our server Derek & his partner made us feel pampered. The perfect meal. Thank you.

Great Service

My wife and I visited Chops Lobster Bar before a concert. The food was prepared perfectly and quite fast as well. The service was fantastic. We will visit again.

Excellent in pretty much every way possible

By MrPapugami |

Fantastic steak, really fantastic. One of the best wines I have drank in a long while. Excellent service and the atmosphere and decor is first class. Well done Chops, I shall see you on my next trip to Atlanta.

A superb restaurant

By 424wguava |

Everything was really good and the Service was excellent. The wine list was aggressively priced however.

Awesome Anniversay Dinner

By do25100 |

The Service and Food were both impeccable and made for a perfect special anniversary for my wife and I. The filet and NY Strip were cooked to perfection and with the Blue Cheese topping tasted awesome.

Fun lively restaurant

By llp324 |

Had great steaks and apps. Very lively. Tuna tartar, steak tartar and salads were excellent. Sides are big and easy to share. Busy steakhouse feel.

Never a disappointment

By HDFLSTF1 |

Brought the family out spent New Year’s Eve with the staf at Chops Ate lots of wonderful food. Enjoyed the night

Nice but nothing special

By David H |

The atmosphere was very warm. The staff was very attentive. However, the bar service was plain bad. A room temperature martini and a cloudy old fashioned were not good. The wagyu special ribeye was cold. The sole was very good. Overall, the experience did not meet the price point.

Steak was nothing special, not worth the price

By LMiller |

Much too expensive for an average tasting steak. Hong Kong Combo was pretty good, but I've had better for a lot less money. Service was good, but like the food, nothing special. $175 bill for nothing special, so it's unlikely we will return.

Birthday at Chops

By 24hrtrippers |

Excellence across the board. Seafood tower big hit at our table. Filet of peppercorn delicious and the brined pork chop special as well. Get the tater tots and Brussel sprouts to share. Stephen and his teammates keep the service flowing smoothly. Classy place to go and shall return. Cheers, Jack

A5 me please.....

By ATLien404 |

One of the best steak restaurants we have ever had and we've eaten all over the world. Larry was our server and he was amazing. Attentive, relatable, and good recommendations. The entire staff seemed to work well as a team and we could'nt have been more pleased. The A5 Wagyu is definitely an experience that I'll have every time I visit. Highly recommend this place to anyone that wants a legit steak restaurant!

Great steak in lively environment

By NilfromATL |

Dined there recently on business. Loved the steak. Didn't see the wine list as someone else ordered the wine. Overall great service. The foie gras appetizer was good. So was the bone in strip. Definitely recommended.

Excellent spot. Good ppl watching and good

I had a business meeting here. Excellent service. And food. Cooked perfectly. Quite the happening place. Highly recommend.

Excellent food and service

By Diane G |

Had dinner here last night and it was fantastic!! I had the Hong Kong style fish and it was amazing. The fish was so tender and cooked to perfection. My husband had the trio and the crab cake was incredible!! Everything was superb!! The service was also amazing!! We had a wonderful dinner and evening!

Very nice

By Jim C |

Went there for an anniversary dinner. We had the ribeye for two, which was delicious, and the service was great. The only negative for me is that the sides are a la carte and fairly pricey. A dish of mashed potatoes for $12 is a bit steep. Other than that it was an enjoyable evening.

Comparable to Wagyu in Japan!

By C J |

A5 Wagyu is outstanding. Unfortunately wagyu has become a cache in American cooking, restaurants love having it on their menu, but few offer Wagyu of this quality. I've had Wagyu in Japan and this is comparable, do not miss!

Good but not Amazing

By David C |

When you first walk in there is a strong smell of seafood... but not in a good way, it does not smell fresh. We ordered the seafood tower to start; it was pretty good, but not the best I’ve had. Other restaurants around town offer a larger portion and fresher selection. The sea bass was pretty good, but not unique. With the large number of seafood offerings in town, I would not put this towards the top. The ambiance and the food are both just mediocre.

Back open and better than ever

By JFFlynn |

Waited patiently for the upstairs dining room to finish renovations so was excited to be able to get a reservation on Friday night (10/7) for the 1st full night open. Have to say I truly don't understand some of the negative reviews I see on Trip Advisor? This visit was nothing short of awesome. They utilize a team approach to service so in addition to our head waiter (Tom), they have 2-3 others making sure everything is working - water/wine refilled regularly, bread delivered, food out on schedule, plates cleared. The best service is when it's so good you don't even notice how attentive the waiters are. Now for the food - they've added some menu items and re-vamped a few recipes (for the better). Grilled octopus appetizer is a must try. Our party of four all had steaks - 3 bone in ribeyes and a 8 oz fillet. All were excellent - size, presentation and cooked exactly as requested (medium rare - warm pink center is a tough spot to hit so really appreciate it when the kitchen gets it right). New chef re-vamped the creamed spinach to tone down the nutmeg and got it right this time. We asked for just a taste after talking to Tom and he brought us a whole bowl to try. This is the service you expect when paying $200 a head for fine dining. Yes, it's a bit pricey but this is a top notch fine dining experience and worth the cost. Bottom line - my wife and I enjoy dining out with friends and look for places that deliver an excellent experience to go with good food. Chops meets the test consistently.

Excellent!

By JLB_ATL |

Just returned here last night for dinner. Love the ambiance, service is impeccable, and food was delicious. Highly recommend the Scottish salmon with rice!

Great steak but needlessly expensive

By Halo of the Azure Sky |

Upscale, posh, fine dinning; whatever you want to call it. The steak was good but very expensive. I was a little disappointed that dinner was $140 for steak, lobster tail & a side. Worst this place didn't serve tea!!!!😡. Who does that! The restaurant was a little loud which made it hard to hear the waiter. This place has a dress code but it appears to be selectively enforced. It's fine for dinner, but just the one time. Also it was a little dark inside, nothing aesthetically pleasing to look at. Also our table was a little lopsided.

Worst Steakhouse I’ve ever been to, my friends agree

By Rachel P |

Do not eat here! Based on reviews, cost, and the clientele of this establishment we really expected a lot. However the food was so terrible, I would have rather eaten fast food. My filet mignon was inedible, I did not eat it. The crust was SO incredibly salty and had a weird taste I couldn’t stomach it. I tried cutting off the crust to eat the middle of the steak but that was too much work. A positive about the steak: the temp was correct. We ordered a side of Mac and cheese, it was brought out COLD. The lobster I ordered with my steak was rubbery and over cooked. They served my friend the completely wrong cut of steak, he complained and they apologized and brought out his correct order but he wasn’t eating his meal with the rest of us. The only food items we as a table really enjoyed were the truffle fries and the corn casserole sides. No one at our table enjoyed their steaks or lobsters which to me should have been the stars of the meal. Extremely disappointed and a waste of money!

Food was delicious. Service was exceptional

By Valjoyner |

You have got to get the crab cakes. It was absolutely amazing. Ooh, and the fried lobster. So, light, flaky and delicious. Fried to perfection. But, even better than that was the amazing service provided by Markie. As a matter of fact, she just got a promotion and will be a lead server at Chops Lobster Bar (on the ground level). And we can't leave Frank the Maitre D' out of this review. He was very kind and professional as well. Chops is our new favorite restaurant in ATL.

NYC Without The Pomp!

By John T |

This is just a totally excellent experience from the appetizers on . . . steaks are among the best ever . . . love the "NYC waiter treatment" without the arrogance!

Food Average/Customer Service Excellent

By Kevin |

The food was a little rushed (lamb chops ). Although this was my first experience at chops, I was expected to be wowed based on the beautiful photos on the website. The one positive, management and our server noticed I did not enjoy my dish. Management did not allow me to pay and offered other dishes for me to try; I declined. I appreciate the customer service. Perhaps this was an isolated experience. I will be back because the ambience was nice and the customer service was wonderful, but I will try another dish. I’m routing for this place!!!

Birthday Dinner

By A-a-Ron D |

Got the ribeye bone-in 20oz with table side spinach and mushroom salad. I must admit the steak is well worth the cost. Got it medium well and did not put any extra sauce. Not a big fan of the restaurant because it is really loud or maybe just the crowd for a Friday night. But for another special occasion or birthday I would come back.

Excellent service and food

By Tj T |

Had a business dinner here with 2 co workers. The atmosphere was nice a bit loud with how full the place was. Our waiter was great never ran out of my tea. All the food was excellent had oysters to start then a nice ny strip cooked to perfection. I would strongly recommend this place! I will definatly be back when I am on atlanta again.

One of Atlanta’s best restaurants

By randy g |

Some of the best seafood in Atlanta is found at the Lobster bar. It is a sister restaurant of Chops, which is upstairs, and Lobster bar also has excellent non-seafood items. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly. We generally sit at the bar for a great service. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta

Delicious

By Suzi C |

Menu is diverse, yet deliciously manageable. Service is almost perfect - attentive but not overly so. My only criticism: timing of delivery was skewed enough that side items were no longer hot when main dishes were served. My Steak Tartare, though prepared tableside (which is good) was messily presented after my companion's entree had been served, so he had to wait while mine was being mixed. But, overall, 5 stars for the food and service, easily! *Unfortunately, the dress code is non-existent unless 'call-girl' is the new definition, and that's very disappointing.

Best Steak and Seafood in ATL

By Dave G |

The service, food and atmosphere were exceptional. While it certainly justified its $$$$ rating; it was expensive, it was worth the price. The lobster bisque had large pieces of lobster meat. The steaks were perfectly prepared and the sea bass was moist and flavorful with its sesame soy broth. Desserts were also spot on. We had a good time and a memorable experience.

Excellence

By Navigator782211 |

We had $400 of gift cards to burn through thanks to our friends who gifted us this experience. $400 spends very fast! I had the special some center cut ribeye with a fried lobster tail. We had the calamari for an appetizer and old fashioned and Pinot noir. The raisin bread they serve was addicting. The calamari was the best u have had. Loved the edamame and red bell peppers and Thai chili sauce! That lobster tail was succulent and fresh and absolutely delicious! Our servers were on the job and very professional and knowledgeable and attentive. By the time we finished our fabulous evening we ended up spending $860 ($160 being gratuity). Well worth the experience. Food and service was excellent. You get what you pay for!

THE Best in Atl!

We dine here several times a year and have never been disappointed! Best food! Best service hands down! Will always be a family fav!

Doesn't Compare to Boca. ..Bad Food and Service

By Cyclefar |

Food or service not as good as in Boca Raton FL. Our waiter Felix was inattentive so after ordering an overpriced bottle of wine we asked for it to be placed on our table rather than waiting for him to decide when we needed to be refilled. When we asked for a table top cooler he said no and walked away..no apology or explanation... .real arrogance... reason for which became apparent later. He was absent for every part of the meal. His partner Ian was exactly what a good server should be..charming attentive full of humor. We ordered a seafood tower which is supposed to be for 2...it's really best for 1 person due to sparseness of shellfish... between plain bread meager food portions and main waiter Atlanta hardly holds a candle to Boca Raton. when we mentioned bad service by Felix to Dennis the manager Dennis said that he and Felix had a 25 year relationship..great...no wonder bad waiter emboldened to act as he pleased...both have tenure and manager protects long time mediocre bud..1 hand washes the other. Will contact corporate and see if they care about loyal customers experiences Will let you know.

Excellent food , sorry service

By Kwright65 |

I will say first that the steak at chops was one of the best steaks I’ve had in Atlanta. A group of friends and I have been purposely trying the top steakhouses once a quarter for a year or so. Chops had their take on Oscar style which had lobster. It was awesome. Now I will say that for a little over a half a grand, we got some of the sorriest service I have been treated to. The server was neglectful and seemed put out if asked for anything. When we got him our drink order, it would take 10 minutes. The martinis were good but I had to wait so long that I did not dare order port with dessert. Our server seemed much more concerned with the other tables. We could hear how well he was treating them. Apparently bad service goes to the top. I called 2 days later to speak to someone before I reviewed. I wanted to be calm. He heard me out, said that was not normal, thanked me for calling, and then said good bye. I did just want to say my piece, but I cannot believe upper management would not have tried on the back end to make it up to me. I didn’t call to get free dessert, but even at a cheap chain restaurant they want return business. They try to make sure you finish happy. I do not know if they assumed I was lying or couldn’t care less if we came back. Chops really let me down. I doubt I will risk a special occasion with the Buckhead Life group again. I normally post a good servers name, To help folks get good service. I will not post this person’s name. Hopefully it was just a bad night for him. He messed ours up. And, the manager this morning really let me down. He did say he was sorry. All in all nothing happened to make me change my rating. I hoped the manager would, but customer service is a lost art at many places.

Wonderful meal

By lucycan |

First time here in about 10 years. Two distinct spaces that share a kitchen. Downstairs is the Lobster bar. Think no windows, quieter. Upstairs is more formal, bar, louder. We ate upstairs because they had some wonderful booths off the bar area. Service was great. All the food was super tasty. Filet cooked perfect. Sides were great. Loved it.

Fantastic

By HKYFAN |

Traditional dark wood decor. Calamari and tuna tartar apps were average as was the Caesar salad. The bread basket and Lobster Bisque were amazing as was the Ribeye and Whole Lobster. Asparagus side was perfectly steamed. We had two servers that were polite and prompt. Water glass was never more than 1/2 empty. The banana cream pie was huge and the perfect ending to a delicious dinner. Pricey but worth it. Can't wait to visit again.

Nastiest Kitchen in Atlanta

By Eric P |

I make deliveries to the kitchen. I wouldn't eat there under any circumstances. That's the dirtiest kitchen I've ever seen. The floor is always wet and sticky. The space is cramped. I've seen food stored on the floor and in the freight elevator. During the height of the pandemic many of the kitchen staff didn't wear a mask. They still don't. The public area is beautiful, but the kitchen isn't fit for human existence. Several other people I know who've been in that kitchen have confided in me that they would never consider eating there. Dirty, dirty, dirty.

27th Anniversary

Me and my beautiful wife enjoyed the ambiance, the waiter was great food excellent.I had the surf and turf .Filet with lobster tail drawknife butter.Oh yes the truffle butter amazing.she had the lamb chops also amazing. I did ask the waiter was it historical,no but it was built and designed to replicate the lobster bar at Grand Central Station.white subway tile cathedral ceilings with beautiful Art Deco chandeliers!

Great food and service

By irishwhiskey1 |

Wonderful dining experience on a Monday night dinner with my son. Derek our waiter and his support staff made our dining experience very pleasant. Friendly, informative, and smiles which has been lacking from the waitstaff at Chops for the past few years. We were both happily surprised. The steaks were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. the flash fried lobster tail is the best I have ever had. wonderful and delicious.

I've Had Better

By Bob K |

We went to Chops for a special event, a wedding anniversary, and they did a very good job of saying "Happy Anniversary"...….perhaps too often but that's OK. I have been searching for why I can't rate Chops as a "5" and I keep coming back to I've had better and in municipal Atlanta. The wine list was very good, good selection by the glass, some half bottles, a decent dessert wine menu (although no vintage port) and an excellent selection of a broad range of 750 mL bottles. We had an excellent bottle of valpolicella ripasso that our waiter had to check to see if it was a ripasso, which he did, so a gold star for service. The menu was very good with multiple offerings in all categories. The cold lump crab "cake" was a collection of lumps of crab meat - sweet, succulent - with remoulade and cocktail sauce (I preferred the cocktail sauce, the wife preferred the remoulade). My fried lobster tail was disappointing.....I've had better ……..but not something to complain about. My wife's filet mignon was a nice piece of meat, slightly over-cooked but still within reason...…..but I've had better and didn't have to drive ITP. Side dishes were creamed spinach (I can't judge) and potato "tots" which were fine but not exciting. Prices were a little high but within reason. Service was spot on, flat out excellent, with more than enough staff to make sure everything was done well. It was a bit on the noisy side, OK for a business meal , which is what it looked like for much of the clientele, but not an intimate dinner for two. For me a "5" rating means I've had such a good experience that I'm waiting for the next visit. A "4" is someplace where we had a good experience and would return to but I would not seek it out. That's where I am with Chops; we had a good meal, and I would return.

Amazing.

From the time we walked in the door. The service was fantastic. The drinks were perfect. The attention was so nice. Fillet spot on perfect lobster bisque perfect. They never rushed us. They just let us enjoy our time together.

Graduation dinner

I’ve been at Chops Club in the past and really enjoyed the food and ambiance. Great atmosphere for steak restaurant. Tonight, however, was unfortunately, disappointing. For some reason there were glass chips on the table. Took a bite of a piece of bread and bit into a glass chip. Manager and waiter were very nice, but this experience was very unsettling.

BUCKHEADS Finest Restaurant, CHOPS Lobster Bar

By W1496TEscottm |

If you ever visit Atlanta Georgia, you have got to go to Chops Lobster Bar, in Buckhead!!! BUT, be sure to bring your wallet. This is a six star restaurant!! The service is awesome, the food is awesome, the whole experience is awesome!!! This has to be one of the best restaurants in the Buckhead area. The food, drinks, desert, service and atmosphere, have to be the best in Atlanta!!!!!

Disappointed. Don’t recommend anymore.

By Jay S |

Went back last night first time since the fire. I had been looking forward to this as part of our SDA for a month, and man, was I disappointed as was my wife. First - our waiter - who shall remain nameless, fell into the indifferent category. Which pisses me off because I know how expensive this is going to be and he’s looking normally at at $50 tip. So, I do expect to be treated like an important customer even if I’m only a once/year one. He was slow to get our order. Was clearly not excited about his work and I am convinced allowed my $60 filet to sit under a heat lamp drying it out (because it was cooked perfectly but managed to be dry as a day old McDonald’s hamburger). We order lobster bisque and while that was fabulous, we failed to note that lobster morsels were an additional $12 to the base $15 and he should have noted that to us. Cause when we ordered it was just the base bisque we were expecting. We split a wedge salad that was $15 that was honestly it as good as a $6 Taco Mac wedge. In fact it was smaller and less appetizing. I already mentioned my steak which was tasty, cooked perfect, but allowed to dry out. That should have been served to me still sizzling and it wasn’t. So, based on this I will sadly recommend you go elsewhere for your high end steak fix.

Great Steaks!

The steaks are amazing. They have a high temp oven and specialize in Pittsburgh Rare. Of course the atmosphere, service, and staff are great. Highly recommended!

Excellent Steak House

By Mark P |

This steak house is located in Buckhead, next to the St. Regis. The food, drinks and service are first rate, and the setting has a classic club feel. The bone in filet is especially good.

The ambiance appeared to be a bit prestigious, but the food was great. The steak was cook exactly as expected and was totally worth the price

Atlanta's 5 star restaurant

By VinoValora |

My fiance and I were treated to a superb dinner. Both of our first time "upstairs" and regret that I've always gone downstairs. (Downstairs is wonderful too). Portions more than ample, helping to support the $$$$. Basic cocktails pricier than I expected, but then it is a 5 star place.

Noise spoils everything

By JRM |

Our wait staff was superb, food was delicious but my birthday evening was ruined by the inexcusably LOUD yelling at the tables all around us. Wrestling matches are quieter than this place. No excuse for it. I will never go back there.

Security will run you away

By 617Boston415 |

I would not go here if it was free. We just drove 6 hours and was hungry. The guy at the front desk would not even let us order food to go because of our dress code. We said, can we call in and order it to go. NO!! He did everything in his power to not accommodate us.

Exceptional Service

By Audrey J |

My colleagues and I went to chops for lunch to celebrate a 30 work year anniversary. Upon arriving our tables were ready and Calvin our server was ready to assist. We all enjoyed our food which was very flavorful and high quality. The portions were adequate as well. Calvin provided Top Notch Service (way to much detail to write) ,but trust me you should ask to sit in his section. I will bring my family here and ask for Calvin.

When value meets price

By Papo |

What a nice evening at Chops. This place has an amazing atmosphere and it is the epitome of a well-managed restaurant. Everything in the menu is delicious. Our party ordered everything from steaks to sea bass and a ton of appetizers: crab cakes, fresh oysters, calamari, lobster bisque, and spinach salad. Everything delicious. My favorite was my wife’s Sole Fish. It was prepared divinely. Hard to describe. Wine and deserts are all exceptional. It is an expensive restaurant but when a place like this takes care of you so well and the food is truly outstanding, the treat is worth it.

Early dinner before leaving town

By ed w |

Great service and food. However my wife’s lobster from her trio was over cooked and my veal chop was very close to MW not Med. We knew that this restaurant was pricey for all of the obvious reasons and well deserved. Service on point and food very good. We eat out too much to eat like this often but when we do we enjoy every morsel. We will go back!

Exceptional Service and Meal

By Ray W |

Service was clearly suited to our needs. Attentive yet not interrupting and it was clear the staff are trained to pick up on the signals of what a tables needs/desires. When a meal was delivered incorrectly, the manager came over and discreetly attended to the matter and it was corrected quickly. The food was exceptional. Wine list was complete, thug moderately over-priced. That said, one cannot enjoy such a meal without a perfect wine to attend the meal.

Excellent food and service. Always fresh and delicious. Friendly wait staff that aims to please. Great cocktails, especially when Festus is bartending.

Food excellent, Service NOT

By SkiJH7 |

We had a party of four and reservations at 6:00 pm in the Lobster Bar. They sat our party at a small table on the back wall (booth/table combo). I ordered the spinach mushroom salad prepared “table side”. They brought out the ingredients showed them to me, and then walked away. Approximately 5 minutes later I received my salad. Definitely not table side. Also, our waiter rushed us through the entire meal. We had cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and dessert all in 1 hour. The server was trying to turn tables as quickly as possible. The food was excellent! However, the service was inferior and didn’t justify a true dining experience.

A proper restaurant

By 1879fulham |

A really popular restaurant. Well furnished this restaurant also has a busy high end bar area as well. Food wise had some great choices. I went for the seafood platter to start followed by the lamb and mint jelly which was just to die for. Had a very extensive wine list to complement the food . Staff were very friendly and efficient. Overall had a great experience and would definitely be happy to return. Price wise of course not cheap but well worth the outlay.

Fancy

old fancy vibes. Food- impeccable Service- impeccable Prices- outrageous You get what you pay for, but the prices are debatable Try it at least once. Propose here, celebrate and anniversary here, get romantic and seduce a lady here lol but don't eat here on a Wednesday just because unless you have deep pockets, or a connect.

Delish Seafood and steaks!!!🦐🦞🦀🥩🍷

By msdet1529 |

The last time we were here was during Covid, fast forward to this past Friday night and this fine eatery was jammed packed!!! A nice table downstairs and we had Tareek and Hector who were our servers. A bottle of Chardonnay started our night followed by a Seafood tower for three. Fresh clams, lobsters, shrimps and crabs started our love for crustaceans. After that, was a nice 6oz Filet Mignon for my wife, and our friend and I both had the 22oz Rib Eye. All three steaks were a perfect temperature of medium rare. Tender, flavorful, and hitting the tastebuds. We had the lobster mashed potatoes with the cream less corn. Both sides were a perfect pairing to our meats!!! Overall great ambiance, service was a little slow and was expected because of the volume of diners. Food was on point and hitting our palates with delight. This steak house is so convenient with a very short walk to our hotel next door at the St. Regis. We will be back!!!🦀🦞🦐🥩🍷

Lobster Bar

By Phil |

The Lobster Bar at Chops is one of our favorite rest in Atlanta. Service is always top-notch. Raw bar is great and servings are large and delicious. We normally have some type of seafood...Sea Bass and Lobster are worth a try. Very nice décor and ambiance although the main dining room can get a little noisy. A little pricey so we wait for special occasions. Not a weekly experience due to $$ but worth every penny when we go.

Food is good, Service Helpful - but those bathrooms.....

By dysphorichousewife |

On an evening out with colleagues, we stopped here for dinner - excellent cocktails, seafood and steak - the waiter was very helpful and made excellent suggestions. Overall dinner was very good. The decor is interesting - tiled ceilings - reminded us of the NYC Oyster Bar. Everything was great until it was time to use the restroom. OK - I am particular - they have two small individual bathrooms up by the front door - they are not gender specific. Yikes! I went into the bathroom and a man had left the toilet seat up, everything was a mess - not sure where I was supposed to hang my coat, put my purse - it was really quite unexpected for a restaurant of this caliber.

Homerun for Big Party....Food, Service, Private Room All Tremendous

By Viknd |

We hosted a big party (17 people) at Chop’s for a family birthday celebration on a Saturday night with many friends and they did an exquisite job—everything was PERFECT! The set menu (with several well thought out options), delicious food, extremely attentive staff (waiters and mgmnt are as good as you can find), beautiful and comfortable private room — everything exceeded our high expectations. All the attendees raved about the food and service. Chop’s went out of their way to ensure that the evening was a success. Whether for biz or pleasure, Chop’s delivers excellence. Strongly recommend!

Perfect for our anniversary

By arlenejustice |

I chose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel, Wingate by Wyndham in Buckhead and didn't want to drive too far because of the rain. It is close to Regis hotel and across whole food store. There is complimentary valet parking which is good because the place is busy. First floor is for mainly seafood/lobster but serves steak and upstairs is mainly steak. The decoration in the restaurant is just fine nothing special but you can see the seafood choices on ice such as oysters. We ordered a lobster bisque which wasn't bad for me and a delicious crab cake. We had lobster and steak which was both delicious and tasty; both were big enough to share. Our waiter was very attentive and kept on checking on us and making sure we had what we needed and ordered which I think was a very nice touch on their part. To end our meal, since it was our anniversary which I put in when I reserved it, our waiter gave us a piece of a small cake with a candle. It was very nice. This restaurant is not cheap, it is on a high end but worthy for special occasion.

A Top 5 Steakhouse in the City

By lexi3 |

We’ve dined there many times for many years and have never been disappointed. The steaks are always cooked perfectly and the service overwhelmingly impeccable. Much more understated than the downstairs Lobster Bar, though they share the same kitchen.

Nothing to write home about

By Laura P |

Went on a Friday night, had a reservation and had to wait 40 minutes - really at this price point and type of restaurant. The place was packed. We split the crab cake, it was one of the best I have had. We then had NY strip and 8 oz filet, both were okay and the green beans. Service was barely acceptable, no water refill or asking if we wanted more wine.

Valentine’s Day Dinner

By Nigayl W |

Very exquisite dining. I love the fact that they have a strict dress code. White table clothes. Beautifully appointed dining area. The wait staff was phenomenal. I loved my experience. We will return when in the area.

Very good and pricey

By Rorga |

My husband is from Ireland. I am of Polish descent. We have high standards for mashed potatoes. The potatoes we just had on July 1 at Chops were runny. What was all that butter trying to cover up? Brussel sprouts were good enough. We ordered 2 1pound lobster tails, broiled. Mine was underdone. I did not mention it, as I was too afraid that they would then overcook it. We had a delicious salad: red Belgian endive, blue cheese. Excellent. And of course, a great bottle of champagne.

PHENOMENAL STEAK

By Shawn L |

We ate at the upstairs steak house portion of the restaurant, and it was magnificent. I had the 12 ounce filet with shallots, mushrooms and a decadent sauce with full peppercorns, stacked over a compressed potato cake. Side was the roasted brussel sprouts and they were also to die for. All expertly prepared and delivered to the table by a very well trained staff..

Excellent Dinner Choice

By Mamjensen |

We ate downstairs in the Lobster Bar and had a great experience. Our server was outstanding. The decor was nice as well. But the food was fantastic from the lobster appetizer to the filet mignon Oscar style to the dessert. Very good all around.

Good steak, but that’s it.

By Fritz |

Our steaks were prepared well and good cuts if a tad pricey. But the good news ends there. My martini was a gin and tonic with olives, what? Drink service is VERY slow. We had a coupon for $25 which is a series so we should have earned one for next month plus a bonus for next month but they wouldn’t honor it. I don’t care about the $25 but that’s some crap. Probably the worst waiter I have had in a year. For the price Atlanta has better steak houses.

Steak and Seafood at its finest

By John |

Business associates went twice in two evenings. Upstairs for steak, then down the next night for seafood. Atmosphere, menu and service were all exceptional, but expected at this level of dining. Seating was prompt and professional. Table settings and amenities were noticeably done with style and perfection. Service by the “Waiters” was immediate and done at a high level of experienced professionalism. Yet their work was performed only as needed with genuine friendly concern for our satisfaction. Entrees, salads and side-selections a wide variety of top quality in their categories. Prime steaks cooked as ordered and seafood alike. Between us, all were very pleased with their items which included; prime ribeye, sirloin, filets, sole, sea bass, flounder, salmon, crab cakes and lobster. Lobster was the only entree they could have been better, but we weren’t on the docks in Maine. Bread pudding with super premium ice cream and coffee a must add!

DO NOT GO! You will order a lobster of a certain size and you will get way less!!

By RC |

I have been going to Chops Lobster Bar for years and the last 2 times were the worst experience I have ever had. We had reservations for 8:30 and we did not sit down until 9:15. We ordered a porterhouse for 2 and a 3 Lb. Lobster which my friend and I were splitting. Before we sat down, we noticed lobsters on the ice behind the bar and asked how many pounds they were because they looked sizable. The manager said oh those are 2 pounds. We now have a reference for a 2-pound lobster. When the split lobster came in the shell, it was a little more than 2/3 the size of the referenced 2- pound lobster and we ordered a 3- pound lobster !!!!. Obviously, we were getting ripped off! This is the second time in a row eating at CLB this has happened. I called the waiter over and explained that I and my buddies have grown up on the water in Long Island NY and we have eaten lobster our whole lives and No way is this a 3 - pound lobster. He looked at me and walked off. We waited 10 minutes while the lobster was getting cold for a visit from the manager. No visit! I finally called someone over to get the manager and then he came. I explained what happened and he did apologize at all, but he quickly said oh we will bring out 2 lobster tails to make up the difference. I said No we will just pay for what we got. He said no we are already cooking them. I said we don't really want them now. They brought them anyway and charged us for a 3- pound lobster anyway! So no apologies from the manager or the waiter. The last time I was at CLB the same exact same thing happened, except they brought out the lobster deshelled even after I said I wanted to see the lobster before they did that. I think we got a 1-1/2 pound this time and we ordered a 3-pound. Same manager and same result. No apologies at all!! I will NEVER go back to this place.

Pass on this one.

By Ask2416 |

My wife and I had dinner here because we could walk from the St.Regis Atlanta. Bread really sad, no attempt here at delighting the customer. Mixed salad seems like it comes from a Sysco food service pre-made bag. Oysters the person who shucked them tore them up, so they were ugly at the start. Grouper with horseradish is why 3 instead of 2. Decent well cooked and tasty. The staff wears old school steakhouse jackets and there are more than enough to make sure you’re well taken care of. It’s just the food is mediocre. Don’t recommend

Nice evening but just missing something

By Kim H |

Dinner was nice and the staff was friendly but I admit that I wasn't wowed on this trip. I've come to Chops on a few other rare occasions and remember being blown away by the service, the food and the overall experience of fine dining. It has been 2 - 3 years since my last visit and my expectation was to have those same feelings but I left with feeling like in was a good dinner but not the amazing food and overall experience I've had before. I think there were a few factors like having to send my medium rare bone in filet back because it was over cooked. I would have NEVER expected that. Granted, they made me another steak and it was good and they sincerely offered their apology but I didn't feel it was necessary that the manager or head waiter or whoever it was to come to the table to show me what medium rare is and ask if I was sure that's what I wanted. At 42 years old, I'm pretty sure I've decided how I like my steak by now and what that means. I do not think I need an education. And if the gentleman had told me "that was your steak we showed you" then there would still be an issue because that was actually my partner's steak who ordered medium and hers was over cooked so I gave her my "medium rare" steak and we sent her medium well steak back. Either way. I wanted a nice dinner, not to feel spoken down to to "make sure the little lady knows what she's asking for". I think that part of our evening took away from the overall experience that I was really looking forward to on our special night out without the kids at a fine dining establishment.

Finest Restaurant in Atlanta

By sfinestone |

Chops has been our favorite dining venue for many years. It never disappoints. GM Kevin Brown and his staff do an amazing job producing consistently wonderful food and service. Our preferred server is Chad. Although we do not dine there as often as we might like, Chad knows our choice of cocktails and orders one for my wife and me as soon as we arrive. Dining at Chops is a wonderful experience.

Fine Dining

By VMVMadison |

On August 23th, my husband and I dined at Chops Lobster Bar for the first time. Outstanding customer service from the Hostess and the Server Team of John and Eddie. Well-informed. Helpful. Friendly. Attentive. They made the dining experience perfect. Recommendations: Appetizer? Calamari. Entree? Filet and the Surf Tail. We were guarded about a fried Surf Tail, but, we trusted John. He was right, and it was delicious! Dessert? Banana Pie. If you are so inclined, my husband enjoyed the Chops Martini. We brought a bottle of red wine to the restaurant. Corkage Fee reasonable. Staff perfectly chilled the wine expeditiously. Impressive. Highly recommend Chops Lobster Bar. It offers everything that is important for enjoyable fine dining, impressive service, delicious, flavorful food, and attractive decor.

Good, but not great!

The food was good... steaks were a little dry..... not what you would expect for the price. Great atmosphere and good times.

Excellent food and service

We visit chops almost every weekend and their food and service have always been consistent and good. They remember our favorite sauces and breads and they are always served to us as soon as we sit down. The Kinis

Calvin our server was great.

Calvin our server was great. Had shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, and Dover sole. All fine, but I can cook this well or better for a lot less.

Five Stars

By rthomasnj |

Five stars for food, service, and decor. We all had different steaks and they were cooked perfectly. The sides, especially the fried lobster a p, we're tremendous. The service was so good that when the bartender made my martini with a bit of a custom flourish the waiter noticed without me saying anything and replaced it. It was a great night!

I love this place. You will too ~

By A_V_Wedding_Lady |

I love this place. Even though I live in California whenever I can get to Atlanta I made sure to stop in here. The food and service are excellent! Whenever I go everybody from the management to all the servers are all very nice and friendly, they make you feel like you belong there. Next time I am in Atlanta I will return ~

Chops & Chops Lobster Bar are 2 different restaurants in the same building

By AtlantaLuvTaTravel |

Did y’all know Chops and Chops Lobster Bar are technically two different restaurants in the same building—with the exact same menu? The only real difference is the vibe. I’ve always liked Buckhead Life restaurants, but I’d never eaten here because... well, I ain’t really about that Buckhead life. If you know, you know. We had reservations at Chops Lobster Bar, but even 15 minutes after our time, our table still wasn’t ready. The host suggested we check upstairs at Chops, and I’m so glad we did. They seated us right away, and the experience was much more our speed. Chops Lobster Bar is a whole scene—beautiful space with a wavy tiled ceiling, but super loud and a tiny waiting area. Upstairs at Chops, the crowd was older, more chill, and the volume level dropped from a 9 to a 5. We even got a window seat overlooking a nice little (artificial) green space. Also, big difference in the staff energy—downstairs was chaotic, upstairs felt calm and professional. Style-wise, Chops is classic steakhouse: red leather, dark wood, relaxed. And the food? Outstanding. We don’t eat red meat, but the fish and lobster were spot on. Same food, totally different vibes. If you’re trying to decide between the two, hopefully this helps.

Great service for regulars. Random person walking in, YMMV.

By sidsid69 |

I wanted to enjoy a nice lunch while off work for the holidays. I can't really get over there during work hours, so this was my opportunity. They sat me in a big open area with about seven tables, but I was the only one in there, while the rest of the restaurant was pretty full. I guess that this should have been my first indication of where things were going. Keep in mind, I was dressed pretty nice: new button down shirt, nice jeans, clean shoes. About ten or twelve minutes went by, and still no waiter or anything, even though several different ones had walked through the area. Finally, three other people were sat in my section and a waiter appeared out of nowhere to immediately begin helping them out even before they sat down. I guess that's the difference in being a "regular" and just some guy off the street. I finally just got up and found a waiter, since the one who was so helpful just five feet from my table had just walked on by me again. He reluctantly took my order, and I even explained that I wasn't trying to give him any trouble, it was just that I'd been sitting there for almost 15 minutes already. My food came out, and it was fine, but the overall experience had already been tarnished by simply ignoring a customer that was already sitting there, and couldn't get any service until I had to get up and find it myself... I still have around $700 leftover on my Buckhead Life Loyalty card, so hopefully the experience is better whenever I make it back for dinner. Honestly, the burger at Roshambo is much better for five bucks less...

Parking Issue!

By Cynthia |

I do not know what it was but I saw a valet guy who gave me a ticket that was taken from another car. I think they are cheating the company and reusing the tickets that were given out before. This one valet guy gave me his business card and ask me to come to his business which is a car wash. I was there to eat not network. This was not what I was looking for when I came to Chop's & Lobster Bar. I really at this point do not like the valet they have here and I hope they change the company or find out the one who is cheating the company and let them go. I think that if the company goes digital with the valet it will cut off the cheating from the employees, plus the tip scamming

$40 for a cocktail!!!

By Brett L |

$40 for a double Bullet Bourbon!!! The food and service was good, but sticker shock over my cocktail. When asked, the Bartender said “I know, we don’t have a double button on our POS.”

Excellent Experience and Server!!!

By Jim J |

We had dinner and the experience was EXCELLENT!!! We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Of the last 4 visits this was the BEST. This was primarily due to Steven, our server, and also the quality of the food. Steven has been there 3 years but we had never had the pleasure of him being our server. He has very good interpersonal skills, knowledge of the menu and wine list, and his timing for checking back. Upon being seated we received the bread basket and european butter; very good. We started with the deep fried Lobster Tail (an all-time traditional favorite) and it was prepared perfectly and it came with a horseradish sauce and also drawn butter. For entrees we had the Sea Bass sauteed in butter vs. the Hong Kong Style listed on the menu. It could not have been prepared any better. We will request Steven on our next visit!!!

Once in a lifetime is too much

By Kerwin Gray |

For 36 years, I have lived four miles from Chops. And I was always a fan of Buckhead Life Restaurants—back in my single days, Panos and Paul’s was my default date restaurant. But in all that time, I never went to Chops. There are at least six fine dining steak houses within about four miles of our home. We were Hal’s people most of that time, then did a Bones stretch for a few years. And most recently, we have become fans of Kaiser's Chophouse. But on Saturday night, we decided to try Chops. My wife’s appetizer was served, but mine wasn’t. My wife finished her appetizer, but I still didn’t have mine. They served four giant shrimp as an apology for my late appetizer, but we had already ordered the 40 oz Porterhouse and didn’t need any extra shrimp on top of our appetizers. Finally, 15 minutes after my wife’s appetizer was served, my appetizer arrived. A few minutes later, a junior manager sat down at our table. She started whining about how hard her job was. “I tell the servers repeatedly that they need to check the Oysters Rockefeller to confirm where they are to be served. But they keep serving the Oysters Rockefeller to the wrong tables.” I explained that I was not interested in her seminar on server management. Now we had an angry junior manager sitting at our table, which I found particularly aggravating. I asked her to leave our table, because she was not welcome. She replied, “Since you asked me to leave your table, I am telling you to leave ‘MY’ restaurant.” We left. Later that evening, my wife and the general manager of the restaurant talked. He promised her that if she would call him directly whenever she wanted to return, he would buy our dinner. There is zero chance that we will ever return to Bones. If you ask me to leave “YOUR” restaurant, I would be a fool to return.

No longer on top of the game

By tamiennis60 |

I had never been to Chops, but living in Atlanta, it was on my list of to do's. We finally went for my birthday in March. I booked the reservation online, and was certain I had booked Chops Lobster bar, which is supposed to be a little more romantic. When we arrived we were told our reservation was for Chops, upstairs. I was not impressed. I enjoy intimate dining, and this was far from it. We were seated in a booth but next to a table of 10 with 3 kids. The waiter was ho hum, the menus were odd, and we didn't realize you had to unfold a part to see the whole thing. The waiter could have handed us the menus in an open fashion. It took us awhile to get someone over to order a cocktail, and then to get the bread to go with the cocktail. They also served the raisin bread, which I thought went out in the 90's. I of course had to order steak, which they are known for, and unfortunately wasn't impressed at all. Maybe we should have went for the huge steak for 2 experience, but we didn't. I ordered escargot for an appetizer, and was pleased with that, but the wait staff was just not up to par for the hefty price of the restaurant, which really does affect the night. I am sure they have "regulars" that dine more often, which I assume get better attention, but I wouldn't return after the experience we had.

BEST!

By mtank90 |

We had dinner reservations at 8 Sunday night and got seated promptly. Doug was our server and he was absolutely amazing. We had the absolute best dinner and can not wait to go back. I can not point out one negative.

39th wedding anniversary went fantastic

By rfamily9 |

Went to Lobsters for our 39th wedding anniversary and I couldn’t give this place any higher ratings! Staff was helpful informative and the lobster ( which was split and the claws were free of shells) was out of this world! I travel to Maine and I am originally from Florida so I know my lobster but this was outstanding !! BTW we started with the cold tower as an appetizer and it was awesome as well. I will say the lump crab meat did have some shell but that’s almost impossible to avoid and certainly didn’t detract from our meal

Extremely Overpriced

By Sarah G |

While the service is great, the food is ridiculously overpriced. The crab cakes and the fois gras were very good but the chili tiger shrimp is a rip off. They brought us a piece of bread pudding for my husbands birthday, which was a nice treat. Overall I'd recommend going somewhere else, there are fare better and less expensive restaurants in Atlanta.

Loved the Lobster

By PointerDetroit |

We shared lobster and Mac and Cheese and they were divine. We loved the service and the personality of our waiter. We went downstairs and got a table that was a bit quieter which we prefer for conversation.

Smaller Portions …Higher Prices…No Wow Factor!!

By Jim2344 |

For the last several years, I’ve been visiting the Lobster Bar and not CHOPS but I came to see what’s changed after the fire and instead of being “wowed” I walked away the most disappointed I’ve ever been at a Buckhead life restaurant. First, I had requested a certain waiter for this evening and even though I confirm that yesterday, when I showed up, they told me Tom was working a private party. That was the first surprise this evening. Although the two servers we had were very good it wasn’t what we expected. Next at 6 o’clock, the women decided to visit the women’s restroom and it was so terrible that I had to let a waiter know that it needed attention. I would’ve thought when they redid the restaurant they would’ve paid special attention to the restrooms but apparently not as some of the latches on the doors aren’t even working. I personally started with an order of calamari, and it was half the serving size for considerably more money than you previously paid and received at the Buckhead Diner. We also ordered the onion rings, which were as good as they have been in the past and were one of the few highlights of the evening. For an entree we ordered a medium rare fillet that I was sharing with my wife, and it was cooked medium to medium well. The other sides we ordered such as the brussels sprouts, the tater tots, asparagus, and the lobster mash should not be considered shareable as they all seemed much smaller portions than what we are used to receiving at other fine steakhouses in Atlanta and Chicago, and they were all served lukewarm at best. A week ago I had dinner at Gibson Steakhouse in Chicago and the experience I enjoyed there and what I had tonight at CHOPS, were as different as night and day. The fact is after the fire they had a chance to come back with something really special and instead they blew it, and we won’t be back. I just hope an upcoming experience at Lobster Bar is not as disappointing.

Class

Six of us dined at this restaurant tonight and were served delicious food. I had the crab cake and filet steak and both were superb, service was excellent and a really good atmosphere. Highly recommended

Do not go. Mediocre food and way overpriced

By Paul K |

I had not been there for about a year because the last two visits were not good. This one was terrible. Two people split a $130 ribeye for two. They grossly undercooked it. After fixing it, the two people try to eat the steak, but most of it was tough. Two people were light eaters, and there was hardly enough for the two of them. Valet parking is horrible. The lot next-door is a predatory boot lot and we could see the boots on several cars for people at the restaurant. I am sure that was my last time there

As Good as it Gets

By BirdmanSiSenor |

Chops is a fabulous steakhouse/ seafood and poultry restaurant in Atlanta. There are numerous selections of steaks, including exotic Japanese beef. The starters are great- French Onion Soup, The entrees are plentiful( I had the chicken and it was two legs and breasts. The desserts are exceptionally good. The waitstaff is very attentive without being overbearing. We took my grandson there for his 14th birthday and, without us asking they brought him a cute little cake with a candle. I thought that it is every bit as good as Peter Lugar in New York, both in ambiance and quality of food. My highest recommendation.

Anniversary dinner

By bcmorsemd |

We decided to go to Chops (not lobster bar for our anniversary) this year. The service was fabulous and professional. The bone in rib-eye was fantastic. My wife ordered the filet barrel MW but came out medium. Otherwise I would highly recommend Chops for a couples evening out.

Did you know my fiancé was in business meetings all day with the mayor and all the Chief of Police all day and tired?

By Debra R |

So, after a 15-year hiatus because my fiancé didn't see a warrior in my blonde hair and blue eyes that boots on the ground three years in Theatre in OIF, in other words 3 tours getting shot out, blown up ect, ect. . Last night he wanted to get me out of the house as when I get under alot of anxiety I go back to the War, imagine that. So, he calls and says find a nice restaurant, I found Chops. I love and keep up with Atlanta Eats and read the wonderful reviews, right. We have a reservation at 1800, after leaving a $100 deposit, maybe this is normal for ATL, I am from Los Angeles CA and in Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Rodeo drive, this at least would be considered tacky, but what do I know in 2024. Not my restaurant. The meal at least my Prime Rib was good, my fiancé he said he had better. He was more concerned about me because I have anxiety now and after a cosmopolitan, I got comfortable. Well, lol, I guess the bousey waiter thought better of himself and kept interrupting our conversation, asking us, (was everything not up to your liking) ,,, dude,, I got it the first time, second time showed you had no class the third time be thankful I had a drink in me, First of all, the gold , diamonds and precious stones, all from Dubai, my purchases, I need no man to stand. I have dined with the royalty of Motown in my twenty's, that man whom I love, he makes 6 figures and is second in command there at Marta. Had I not had a drink I would have been a little more assertive with you last night than I was. Did it occur to you that maybe you and your crew were not as swift and efficient as servers to warrant a better tip. You do not put a cocktail on a table and move out the table for a Lady. If you're going to wipe off crumbs off a table with a plastic fork, then pick up the ice after it is sloppily poured on the table. When the bread is empty did you or your staff make any attempt to bringing us any more bread? and here's one for you, when is Prime rib ever served, dropped off, with no other items offered, we could have gone to Red Lobster and gotten better service. So, Chops,,, is not as it claims to be. Maybe at the Lobster Bar downstairs, when I was a kid hustling tips at Dennys I had more class than the wait staff at 1800 05/17/2024

Date night

Mindy and I had dinner and it was tremendous. We have been here before but this again was a new experience. The waiter was excellent with plenty of knowledge of their offerings. The Lobster Bisque is one of the best I have had. It is thick and tasty. I had the Hong Kong dish of Salmon and Sea Bass. I was not disappointed. Mindy had Crab cakes and they were very nice. She also had a Caesar Salad which was great. They have a full bar and a very nice wine bar. Loved the evening.

I am not sure how they do it

Chops is one of the very few restaurants which is elegant and yet makes you feel so comfortable, like you are in your own living room. The service is great and extremely efficient without being intrusive. All menu selections are great and off-menu requests are always considered.

My visit to Atlanta, Georgia.

Chops Lobster Bar was a very interesting restaurant, Since we do not have one in Jackson, Mississippi, it was quite an experience for me; I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Chops delivered on accounts. Food, service, ambience & professionalism. Great spot 👍 - even saw Tony Romo, so celebrity appearance is very cool.

Excellent Excellent. The food and service was superb. The grouper was fresh and we'll seasoned. The warmed spinach was the best.

Prime meats, sub-prime lobster

By luv2travel33549 |

We were looking forward to a great lobster dinner, being from Tampa, a birthday lobster dinner. From the moment the little hostess couldn't find our reservation, to our waiter, Tammer ( as in lion tamer said he), I knew we should have left at that moment. The waiter wasn't friendly, but very loud and business-like. He kept hovering around us, more than being attentive. It was all down-hill from there. We ordered two "Mules" and our waiter had to go check on the price. We had to ask for some simple syrup to be added to the drinks. Guess they forgot to add it to the Mules. We then ordered the curry lobster and the 4 lb. lobster. Tammer came back to our table to tell us that the curry lobster was mis-quoted on its price. And then came back a third time to tell us that the 4 lb. lobsters were also misquoted. That's the fastest "MKT Price" increase I ever saw. Of course, all the prices went higher, but we were looking forward to these great lobsters. We started with great dinner rolls and salad, how can you screw that up? The dinners came out with escargot and Brussels sprouts. The escargot were delicious. Share the sprouts, it's that big. Now, for the lobsters, after waiting a long time, they came out under-cooked to the point that the steak knives could barely cut through them. They were very gummy to chew. We had waited too long to send them back, so we persevered and continued with the birthday dinner. Because, while one waits for the lobster to cook, the other person must go ahead and finish their dinner while it's still hot and then you're eating your dinner alone. We were trying to keep a positive attitude, but by this time, we didn't want dessert, just the check. They got the check right on all the prices. Nothing was comped or apologies given. Surprise! Please go there for the prime cuts of meat, the lobsters are over-priced and under-cooked. Not a relaxing birthday experience!

Fine, safe, Delish, and next to our hotel!!!

Our choice for a nice dinner after being on the road from south Florida and spending our Tuesday at Peachtree Dekalb airport for aviation business. Our one night stay at the St. Regis hotel next door is just a very short walk, stones throw away for a nice yummy dinner. Reservations for two at 8:30 PM was made with Frank who gave us a nice table in the back of the “Chops” dining room. I believe the other room is called the “lobster” room, not 100% sure about that!!! But ready to serve us was FELIX and TAARIQ who was an awesome team, on the money with their service, and a picture perfect duo!!! Thank you!!! A bottle of Joseph Phelps Chardonnay started our night, oh yea!!! Followed by a shrimp cocktail, and a lettuce wedge to share. Two large, ice cold, fresh shrimps, for each of us, with a crispy, cold iceberg lettuce wedge with bacon, egg crumbles with a side of blue cheese dressing!!! Yum!!! My love had the filet Mignon, grilled to a perfect medium rare and I had the Hong Kong Special combo, which consist of a nice sized Salmon and Chilean Sea Bass filet resting on a bed of sautéed spinach in a nice sesame soy broth with a side of jasmine rice. Both dishes hit the spot, very tasty, hot, and making the wine a perfect match in heaven!!! For the sides, we shared the curly Mac and cheese and the French thin string beans. Both sides were a perfect blend with our dinner, Sorry, no room for dessert, just the wine is enough for a sweet delicious ending. COVID-19 FAQ’s... All staff had masks on, we had masks on during our walk in to our table, hand sanitizers on each tables and near the entry doors, 6 foot rule here and a whole section on their website on their ways of keeping the guests and staff safe!!! We felt safe and comfy!!! This was our first time here and I’m sure it won’t be the last when we stay next door at the St. Regis!!! We will be back!!! Delish!!! 🍽🍽🍽🍷🍷🍷

The Best of the Best

By TheHappyTraveler413 |

By far the best of The Buckhead Life Groups facilities! Great atmosphere, superb food and great service. We were a group of 4 had a round of drinks, appetizer and for the main course and we had the Bone In Ribeye steak, Lamb Chops, Black Grouper and the Hong Kong seafood. The grouper and the Hongkong seafood were lovely, the ribeye melted in your mouth, but the Lamb Chops were fantastic. The “large” were a little small for 4 to share but were very tasty. Certainly, an excellent diner with drinks and wine for a great evening.

Unique and WAY OVERPRICED

By Rock |

The location is very nice for an older building in Buckhead. the valet service was very good as was the table service. The maitre d' managed to flex our reservation to aid us in making the meal, this was due to the traffic and weather impacts. From the standpoint of outstanding, things stopped there and drastically dropped to mediocre. The atmosphere was one of elegance with a homage to dinner at grandmas house. The entrees were the only items plated with the sides provided on the table for all to share. However, the table was so small for 2 people that there was not enough room for the two entrees and three sides, and one bottle of wine with two glasses along with 2 water glasses. Once the Entrees came the bread along with bread plates had to be removed. Just not enough space. Honestly, it made me feel like i was at the children's table when i was 5 or 6. From the moment the wine list and menu were presented you could tell that the evening was going to be out of sight costs wise. For example a 6 oz steak was 34 and ounce or $204 and that included NO sides. I came for the lobster which one tail was $68 . The bottles of wine were $100 or more for any offering that would have been of any taste. The steak was said to be the best piece of meat in the world, honestly a decent filet would have been just as good. The lobster was very good but no better than I've had at any other decent restaurant for half the price. After i reviewed the menu, i resigned myself that this mean was going to costs north of $500 for 2 people and bit the bullet to enjoy the evening with my date. it was more important to enjoy the hour to two with her than to worry about the monetary costs. I do however wished someone had adequately prepared me to spend nearly $300 per person to dine at Chops. I might would have gone somewhere else or limited choices of meals, nah, i would have gone to another place where the food and atmosphere would have been comparable and the costs halved. On the good side of this evening. The bread offerings were varied, the size of the sides were big enough for three or four (something the server declined to advise upon) , the size of the lobster tail was slightly larger than i could eat, and the steak did taste well (not sure i would say the best I've ever had). Word of warning: if this is a one time or once a year thing go and enjoy and blow the $600 for a dinner at a unique place, but do not expect the food to blow you away; the bill will do that. It is good, not fantastic. Now if you just want to brag to others that you afforded a meal at an an outrageously expensive restaurant for what was at most an adequately prepared meal that was less than an adequate value for the costs, then go ahead. However you will roll the dice that they have not been there, cause if they have they will know you are bragging and spewing lies to make others look inadequate, which will have the inverse affect. I will consider going back, maybe to commemorate an anniversary. But spending an obscene amount of money for a moderate meal is not something I would do on a regular basis.

Dinner with good friends

We had a great dining experience with good friends. Food was amazing! Service was outstanding as well. It is not a cheap dinner but you get what you pay for and we got the full experience at Chop’s. One of our top dining experiences. We will go back.

Fantastic Seafood!

Lively atmosphere! We had French Onion Soup which was fantastic. Entrees were Horseradish Grouper and Crab cakes. Also Lobster Mash Potatoes as a side to share. Toffee crunch pie was shared for dessert. Every dish was excellent. Alisa our server was very helpful and attentive! Highly recommend if you looking for fresh seafood!

Delicious Food and Terrific Service!

By flalove2travel |

We had a reservation and were promptly seated. We had requested a table, and were seated at a table. There are quite a few banquette tables, so unless you like sitting on top of other guests, request a table. The lobster bar downstairs has much more ambiance than the upstairs, where we had previously dined. Service was prompt and pleasant. The restaurant was crowded, but we were able to carry on a conversation. The waiter made a red wine recommendation, which was very good The quality of food is outstanding. The french onion soup, crab cakes, lobster, and wedge salad were all good. The entrees of dover sole, ribeye, and filet were all cooked to perfection. The sides of onion rings, cream corn, and green beans were delicious. It is definitely expensive, but the food and service are both outstanding. We recommend reservations at the lobster bar downstairs, where we will be returning.

Splurge dinner in the city

By dustmon |

We live outside the city but get a Buckhead Life gift card for Xmas each year, and this was the first time we visited Chops---Here's the verdict---the strip steak was almost the best steak I have ever had---a tiny bit over the medium rare I asked for. very tender and juicy it was incredible---the escargot at $18 was a bit overdone---the lobster bisque, with it's presentation, was served not quite hot enough. One of the prawns (which was sent instead of the ordered shrimp cocktail) was inedible and stringy. The calamari was very good---Santa Margherita wine was $15 a glass---a little much in my opinion...We were seated next to a large table and the noise was considerable, the low ceiling contributing to that...If you have a business credit card this is definitely a good spot for a meal---

Not the best…skip it

By PeginUT |

The food was okay but not great for the price. But the waiter seemed disgruntled when I ordered 4 $20 drinks and a few appetizers. The bill was over $100 and he wasn’t happy. And they seated us next to a dehumidifier that was so loud you can’t hear each other speak.

Great dinners

Love dining here. Whether it’s for special occasions, date nights or simply hanging out with friends. Great wine selection! Some of my fav dishes are the calamari appetizer, the tuna tartar and of course the ribeyes!

I must say without a doubt this was a wonderful experience. The safe was extremely pleasant and willing to go up and beyond with service. We started with the a bunch of apps with our meal and I must say absolutely divine. The crab cake, tuna, shrimp, lobster tail, and oysters absolutely delicious. We were full off the apps. Next the main course was extremely wonderful. The courses at the table went from a deep fried lobster tail to a couple of tomahawk steaks that were cooked perfectly. We did not eat dessert because we were stuffed. I will overall the experience at Chops was like the food absolutely worth it. The bill was 835 for the four of us because of the drinks and bottles of wine. Team building at the Lobster Bar..... Priceless

One Circle Short of Perfect

By isabill |

My husband and I have dined at Chops twice now in the last year, and while the food remains excellent, our experience with servers has been hit or miss. Our first time at Chops (the upstairs restaurant), we had an early reservation and were promptly seated. It took a while for our main server to arrive at our table, but once we got our drinks order in, things went a lot smoother. We ordered the appetizer lobster tail, the 8 oz filet, and a couple of vegetable sides, including creamed spinach. The lobster tail is divine, and the steaks were perfectly cooked. The spinach, while delicious, was more like a very thick, creamy soup. We were quite full but managed to share a creme brûlée for dessert. Our most recent outing was just last week, an early dinner, and we again had the slow start, where we wondered if the staff forgot about us. Our main waiter was a little on the cheeky side, and was incredulous when I indicated I would only be getting a salad, and the appetizer lobster, with a couple of sides to share with hubby. Come on man, you know your portion sizes are ginormous - did I look like I could add a steak with all that food? Well, maybe, but I’m saving room for dessert! Anyway, my husband got an 8 oz filet and it was again perfectly cooked. He enjoyed our shared sides as well. The supporting staff for our lead waiter were terrific and very pleasant - water glasses were always filled, wine poured, and they were all around professional and polite. After dinner, we ordered tea from one of the support servers, but then the main waiter came by and brought coffee. Huh? I told him we had ordered tea but he walked off before I finished my sentence! This guy is a character! Bless his heart! We set it aside and when he finally came back by he asked about the coffee, apologized, and brought the tea box and quickly left it on the table before disappearing, nearly at light speed. I promise we showered before visiting; we even brushed our teeth and wore our clean Sunday best clothes. We looked longingly at the next table’s customers where their server was engaging with them and having nice conversations. If we return to Chops/Lobster Bar, we might try the Lobster Bar below (it’s same menu, I think), or if we decide to dine upstairs, we will hope for a different lead server.

Great crab cakes and Lobster

By Tears26 |

The lobster was out of this world and a pretty good size. Large enough for my husband and I to share and get full. I highly recommend it as an entree and the crab cake as an appetizer.

Very Good Upscale Seafood Beef & Chops Restaurant

By Jim J |

We were warmly greeted and promptly seated in the requested area from our reservation. We felt a little rushed by our head waiter (Kenneth); however, he was helpful in selecting a wine that was very good.. The service from the support team (Hector) for water, bread etc. was excellent. We had to ask if there were specials for the night (1 salad item). The menu seems to be tired and has undergone little change over the years. The food quality is very good to excellent; however, if you are looking for a seafood menu with variety and lots of options, the sister restaurant Atlanta Fish Market is a better choice. The Lobster Morsels appetizer was very good. We ordered the Sea Bass; however, not the Hong Kong style on the menus but plancha seared and it was excellent! The Hong Kong style covers the flavor of the sea bass. When the entree was served initially, only 1 came out vs. 2, so we had to wait another 15 minutes or so for 2 orders to be served. The runners, waiter, and manager were very apologetic. At the end of the meal, the manager sent 2 desserts to the table complimentary for the mishap. The restaurant is a nice setting; however, I am not sure the quality is a good value.

Birthday dinner

By Matttherat16 |

I brought my wife and daughter to Chops Lobster Bar for a birthday dinner. It had been 12 years since my last visit. They greeted me at the door by name and asked why it had been 12 years since my last visit. Need I say more? The meal and service was impeccable.

Amazing food!

By Kahesha R |

The fried lobster and crab cakes are to die for. Just a little note, upstairs and downstairs are the same place with ambiance on the 2nd floor, and more home feel downstairs. The downstairs also has an oyster bar.

Inconsistent Policies

By Carma R |

Well, we booked this restaurant to celebrate my Mom’s 60th birthday. The final count in our party was 8. Only 4 of 8 were present in our party for our 6:30 pm reservation. Two more arrived by 6:45 pm. I notified Kevin that 6 out of 8 in our party were present and the other two were stuck in traffic but on their way. I also asked if we could be seated and he rudely said that I can’t seat you until everybody is present. Needless to say, we didn’t get seated until almost 7:20 pm. The worst part about this whole situation was the fact that “two” tables around us had incomplete parties where individuals joined them much later and it was okay....Kevin even walked them to their tables 30 mins after the first part of their group arrived. Policies exist for a reason; however, consistency is key or it comes across as discriminatory in nature. Will we return? Absolutely not.

Below expectations

By JTKnott |

Having lived in Atlanta for 15 years, I was excited to spend New Year's Eve there. Many restaurants were full, but the Chops Lobster Bar had an opening. I was very familiar with Chops from my year there and was happy we could get a reservation. Unfortunately, things were not as they were in the past. Chops, along with Bones, was the premiere steak restaurant in Atlanta. All visitors from Germany were taken there and things were wonderful, although expensive, in the past. Unfortunately, while still very expensive, the food was far below expectations. The waiter was very casual and not helpful at all. He wanted our order and that was it. We had a cocktail at the bar before being seated. We each ordered the small filet with sides of broccolinni and fries to share. The steaks, while cooked to the proper temperature, were not very flavorful and a little on the chewy side. The waiter was unable to recommend a wine, but offered to give us something else if we were not satisfied. This was very much a disappointment and at $400 for two, one would expect much better.

Superior

By suz |

This is a classy, well established restaurant and it is reflected in the decor, service & menu. Everything was superb and it is one of our favorites in both NY & Georgia. Excellent.

Fantastic

By skione |

This was my first visit to Chops but it won’t be my last. My filet was incredible and the Gouda Mac and cheese was to die for. Also we had excellent service and very accommodating to last minute party additions.

Delicious seafood

By Leigh M |

Love this restaurant. The food is delicious. We each ordered different items and I sampled some of everything. The oysters on the half shell were fresh and delicious. The escargot and soft shell crab were really good. My crab cakes were some of the best I have ever had. The fried lobster and the steamed lobster were excellent. The rib eye was cooked perfectly. The wait staff were attentive and the GM came by to check on us. It was a wonderful meal, with a great atmosphere and our needs were anticipated.

Slow Service, Bathrooms Disgusting

By Mark T |

Our family books a reservation for a party of four via the OpenTable app the day of our Saturday reservation. We find ourselves running late and call to advise and are given no push back to move our reservation time 30 minutes later. On arrival we are seated promptly and greeted by our waiter who tells us he and another associate will be taking care of us. During our time at the table it is never apparent that any associate is working with our waiter. We are delighted our cocktail order is taken and delivered right away. We think we are off to a great start, but everything goes downhill from here. For the wine drinkers in our party, it takes a long time to order and receive the wine. We request bread for the table and are told by our waiter he will get to it when he can. Eventually, our dinner order is taken, and once again we ask for bread. When our appetizers are brought to the table, we ask the server for bread and a few minutes later he returns with it. We notice other tables near us who never receive bread. This bread issue really seems strange as if it is being rationed for some reason. For appetizers we order calamari and a special salad. The calamari is cooked perfectly, but it is coated with too much of a sweet Thai chili sauce. The special salad is large enough for us to share and is fresh. For our main course we order the T-Bone for two, a hamburger (not on the menu but always available), a fresh fish dish and sides of lobster mac and cheese and garlic sautéed broccolini. The burger served with fries is the best of all items ordered. The steak borders on being overcooked and not particularly juicy or flavorful. There is not much lobster in the mac and cheese dish and there is nothing special about the cheese/sauce part of the mac and cheese dish. The food is okay, but nothing outstanding here at all. For desert, at the waiter's recommendation we order the white chocolate banana pie. The serving is large, but the pie is not good. It tastes "chalky and pasty." Not a good choice. Don't get it. As for the bathrooms. First, there are only two single toilet unisex bathrooms. For the ladies especially, they are unhappy because they are filthy. Also, nothing is automatic in the bathroom except the hand air dryer. So, plan on taking tissue to the bathroom with you to avoid using your hands for flushing the toilet, tuning on the sink water, dispensing soap, then opening the door to leave. It's hard to believe any high-end establishment would impose this (totally lacking) level of consideration for poor hygiene on its customers and staff and honestly gives me concern over cleanliness of the restaurant overall. I've been to this restaurant many times over the years. It's been one of the landmark steak houses in Atlanta for years. I have to say at this point I will not return. The experience is subpar, and way overpriced in consideration for what you get. In addition, valet service now charges, so keep this in mind when tipping the valet. If you find yourself in Duluth, Frankie's Steakhouse is the place to go.

Special Place For A Special Occasion!

By katork |

Hint: We used Opentable, but when we arrived at the restaurant, they were unaware of our special occasion we were celebrating. This is a confusing listing, because the Chops Lobster Bar is downstairs and the other restaurant called Chops is upstairs. Both use the same menu and service is identical. The only difference is upstairs is darker and more romantic. The Lobster Bar is brighter and there is a display of seafood on ice. It just depends on your preference. We choose the upstairs and everything was wonderful: Their service and waiters are amazing. They help to make everything happen. On the given night, there was a birthday celebration, an anniversary and a proposal all on our side of the restaurant. Service: Amazing Food: Wonderful- especially the seafood. We got the fried lobster appetizer, mushroom veggie, steak, and the seafood trio. Expensive: Yes it is....not something we could do on a regular basis. It is fine dining....Plan on spending around $200, depending on your drinks, and food choices. I would like to mention, a restaurant of this caliber, I was surprised of the booth that has torn seats...really??? Light that is out on the overhead light fixture. Would think they would fix these things....still a wonderful setting and an outstanding meal.

Awesome!!!

Great food, atmosphere and service!! Hoping to make it back there on day. Stopped to eat there on our way to Auburn Alabama. Highly recommend if you make it to Atlanta.

Great Hearty Steaks

By jackiem07 |

This was my first time dining at Chops in quite some time. We dined at the bar, and I ordered the Bone-in Rib Eye Steak which was hearty and delicious, and this was the smaller size. It was char-grilled and cooked perfectly at medium-rare. The veggies are a-la-carte so get ready for the extra expense. My one and only concern is that the 2nd bartender (male) who served us wasn't NEARLY as pleasant and approachable as the first bartender (female) who was EXCELLENT, so no stars off thanks to her! I'd still highly recommend Chops as a great restaurant to visit.

Pardon me??

By YoungOpa |

Our entire dinner was punctuated by our frequent repetition of "Pardon me" or "What, I didn't hear you" .The restaurant was loud and overpriced, and the waiter made us feel like we were an imposition. He seemed in a hurry- so much so that when we sat down to order our drinks, one of our groups asked for a minute to read the menu, so he walked away without his request without waiting. All the food was tasty, but not tasty enough to meet the prices. Great place to go on the expense account if you don't want to talk to each other, but I would not return on my own. Surf and turf was an add on charge to your steak order of $34 for a "large prawn: sized deep fried lobster tail. Steak entrees were served without anything else on the plate- anything else was an extra charge.

Classic Florida Fare

By GrantCalton |

Chops is one those quintessentially American restaurants that I love to visit when I'm across the pond. Lots of dark wood, a Sinatra-esque crooner in the corner, super comfy dining chairs, a proper bar and of course a perfect cocktail list to kick off an evening. T had a high kickin' mescalita complete with a large slice of jalapeno atop, I opted for a more trad vodka martini. The food was absolutely delicious, lump crab and shrimp cocktail ,simple with perfect fresh ingredients, classic crab cakes, seared tuna on yukon mash and the grouper in a horseradish crust with a grapefruit emulsion was a proper flavour sensation. Of course a Florida dinner would not be complete without a key lime pie (this one was just the right creamy tartness) . Oh and a rather decent creme brulee. We also managed to find an unusual and perky Spanish Albarino. It's expensive here for sure but we really felt like we had had a special treat.

Superb dining

By Tool007 |

This restaurant is located in a very wealthy area of Atlanta. Huge mansions all over the area. So if you are ready to spend big go here and enjoy yourself. Very cool & stylish restaurant. Shay gave me great service during my visit. Fresh Florida Stonecrab claws a huge plus, they tasted magic with mustardsauce. Lobsterbisque with morels of lobster rich & good, but not the best i tried. Peppersteak was super good, but i will choose different toppings next time. Super wines by glass. Highly recommended! Even its expensive

A Special Reason to be at Chops

By Chevin W |

Everyone has full intent of making an evening out well worth it at Chops Lobster Bar. Last night we were there talking a loved one into celebrating a special birthday. All agreed the menu looked amazing and we all were pleased with our choices. I had chicken and felt with the first glimpse of my dinner that my selection won the blue ribbon, and my first bite cinched it. The beautifully designed dining room and atmosphere, those in the know said was reminiscent of the Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station, you really must see it! The Super Bowl had been played in the new Falcon's Stadium in Atlanta and our darling server let us know how this location among all of their companies restaurants broke the sales record Friday night and then on Saturday night broke the new record they just made. There are many reasons to visit Atlanta and Chops Lobster Bar is one of them.

Great service....not a place for vegans

By Drdistance |

I know.....why would a vegan go to a steak and seafood restaurant? Invited for family dinner and the service was great and everyone else loved their food. Normally as a vegan if I go to a place like this because of work or family obligation I order a vegetable plate and usually the vegetables are awesome. Here I was informed that a vegetable plate was difficult because of butter being used to cook everything. They suggested a vegetable stir fry. What came out was stir fried white rice with a couple of carrots and peppers. If you are a vegan going here, I suggest you eat before you go and just enjoy your company.

A very popular dining destination, and it lives up to the reputation

By bagpipe |

We went to Chops on Saturday night, it was "rockin'", and did not disappoint. The only downside is that is is a bit noisy, but the service, the food, the variety, and the vibe overcame that in a hurry. Everything was served impeccably, the variety on the menu was outstanding, and the execution by the kitchen was perfect.

Superb service, superb food, rather expensive

By trombonium |

Chops and the Chops lobster bar are upstairs and downstairs to each other. They have the same menu, which features steaks and a large variety of seafood appetizers and entrees. The food is fabulous and so is the service. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. I had the pepper steak, while my wife had raw oysters (from two sources) and fried lobster tails. All of it was absolutely delicious. You pay for what you get. With drinks, tips and parking, expect to pay well over $200 for two. For us it was worth it.

Sunday Night -January 13 2019 AWESOME

By AtlantaPirate1963 |

My wife and I had a 6pm reservation last night. We arrived at 5:15 and decided to have a drink at the bar before dinner. Service at the bar was great. At 6:00 we took our table which was upstairs in the far left hand hard against the window. Great location. John was our waiter and he was spot on all night. Never missed a beat. My wife had the grilled salmon special. Salmon with a piece of lobster on the bottom on top of gouda cheese grits. Fantastic. I had the 8 oz filet. We both had the blue cheese wedge salads. Phenomenal meal. We also had a great Malbec Luigi Bosca-2016 Thanks again John. We enjoyed it !

Best Crab-Cakes ever

A good wine list and great staff. It was a lot of fun and we repeated during our stay, a rarity. Also thy the Steak Tartar

Great steaks, high prices

By janiceh |

The steaks are excellent— tender and cooked to perfection however you choose. This is definitely a business account or special occasion restaurant. The prices are sky high and everything is a la carte. The Sevice is attentive without being intrusive. Not too noisy

Kobe beef

By Mike B |

I was visiting Atlanta to see Hamilton and needed a place to eat. I wanted to have the Kobe steak this restaurant has. Let me tell you something, it is WORTH every penny. The most amazing steak I’ve ever had. I would go again and again (if I lived in Atlanta)

Outstanding

We decided to go here as we haven’t been for about 15 years since moving away. It was for my birthday dinner and past experiences have been great. I read some recent reviews that concerned me but decided to go. Well we had a corner booth and a very attentive server. We never felt rushed and our servers were there to answer any questions. From the cocktails to the salad to the entree we could not have been more pleased. The 2 hour dinner culminated with free bread pudding. This place has been there for 35 years so they must be doing something right. For those that had issues I’m sure Chops would have made it right. When we left the place was packed with patrons. Great job AGAIN Chops…..great job
