love this family friendly, vegetarian friendly tex mex restaurant

By shopaddict |

Chuys is a chain started in Austin Texas and has great tex mex food. This is the first Dallas location and I frequently went in College...been going over 20 yrs and now take my kids. Lots of vegetarian options, good margaritas, and great tex mex food. We love taking all our out of town guests. The restaurants are all decorated in kitschy cute style.

Good eating

By James Parker M |

This Chuy's like all their other locations just get it. The location has a friendly vibe and the food is always great. The Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchiladas are a treat.

Fun

By TheFunFoodie |

Chuy's is a bright Mexican restaurant in the Knox Henderson area. It's very predictable. The service is fast. No matter what you order it kind of tastes the same.... Everything tastes good, it just all the same. It's a cute place to meet friends.

Not Impressed

By Joanne H |

Friends recommended this restaurant while I was visiting Dallas. The chips & salsa were great! The rest of the meal and service where not. I ordered a special enchilada dish from the menu and found the sauce, and the entire meal, was heavy and lacked flavor. I was expecting fresh, grilled food but got flavorless, dry chicken covered in a heavy sauce that lacked any flavor. Refried beans were the only option (no black or pinto). Two others at the table felt just about the same with their meals.

Guess we came on a bad day

We came here for lunch and I was disappointed. The food was luke warm and mediocre. However, I did enjoy my drink...guess I’ll give it a second chance when I’m down for my next visit.

Put back the Hatch Chili Tacos!

By Jacmo24 |

We love Chuy's. Are regulars. Some of the best tex-mex I've ever had. Hatch Green Chili salsa is THE BEST. But recently they've taken our tacos off the menu. Please put them back!

Good eats!

By John W |

Fun place to get great Mexican food. Their menu offerings are quite impressive. We had the daily lunch special which was chicken enchiladas with verde sauce. Yum! The prices are very good. We’ll be back to try their very impressive drinks menu. Fun vibe, good service and entertaining decorations.

That's NOT the flavor of Hatch Chile!

By RanchetteCook |

The green chile sauce was sweet and nothing like sauce made with Hatch green chile. There's no need to add jalapeños to Hatch chile. Great service, nice atmosphere, but don't advertise Hatch chiles unless you really serve them!

Mehhhh

By s0lish |

I guess if you're looking for food because you're starving it's okay. Service was wonderful our waitress was awesome. Food is like fast food fake Mexican food not at all what I thought. Kind of sad because my children and I really liked the decor but food was not legit authentic Mexican.

Good food

Great burritos. Happy hour has free queso and lower priced drinks. Servers try to be cool, sometimes it works.

If this is the best tex mex in dallas they are in trouble

By Ssc3201 |

A group of us went during a conference. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Several of us had the chuy' s special. I am still looking for the chicken in mine. A few small bits of chicken in a dish overladen with sauce is not my idea of a good meal.

Always fun and delicious

By Sassy0062 |

Late night dinner and the place was still great - except for obnoxious OU fans .. not the fault of Chuys! Hot spot but always nearby parking. Outdoor and indoor seating. Love everything I've ever had.. create your own enchiladas, Elvis chicken, child relleno, tacos, hatch anything! Excellent happy hour options too!

So so

By medallo1 |

I ordered via GrubHub and had food delivered to hotel with no utensils and delivered late. That in itself is no good. Food was OK, decent, not great.

Second Chuy's for me and as good or better

By David H |

Visiting Dallas for the third trip, this time in Dallas (as opposed to Plano) and looked for and found the nearest Chuy's. In a really neat college town setting (SMU), rocking as was the Plano one, and handled brilliantly by the staff. Food was incredible. I'll be back every time I go to Dallas.

Birthday lunch

By rickybear1959 |

Was FANTASTIC. The food, atmosphere, and waitress couldn't have been better.. I had the chicken fajita 'big as yo face' burrito with hatch green chile sauce and WOW.... There aren't usually leftovers on my plate but I had to ask for a to-go container. I have loved Chuy's for34 years now. Consistently delicious!

First time at Chuy's

By lacy g |

We walked in and were greeted and seated immediately. It was crowded for 11:30 on a Sunday. I was surprised the salsa was spicy. I like spicy and it had good flavor. I'm used to bland salsa so this was a nice change. It took a while to get our food. My husband and I both had enchiladas. They were pretty good and I thought the price was very reasonable.

Takeout for in room dining

By Paula G |

We ordered through Door Dash after we learned restaurants at the Hyatt Regency were not an option. Food was good but not what we were wanting.

First time's a winner...

By VWilliamsTX |

This was my first visit to a Chuy's, but I'd heard such good things about the place. We visited on a Friday before the lunch rush. We were greeted and seated immediately. A short time later, we were presented with the traditional chips, but the salsa was different - in a good way. Chuy's salsa is a fresh salsa - fresh chopped tomatoes, onions, and the right amount of spice. We also ordered queso- very delicious - taste is similar to Torchy's Tacos salsa. I ordered the Baja Tacos with grilled shrimp and Chuy's famous creamy jalapeno ranch dip on the side. Overall an excellent lunch trip. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent Tex-Mex... in Texas no less!

By BiggieSauls |

This is a regular go to place when visiting the Apple Store. The service is quick and the fair is fresh. The chips were light and tortillas were made in house, fresh. The Chica-Chica boom-boom is my go to choice. For a chain restaurant, Chuys is a good choice. Getting a parking spot at this location can be tough.

Eclectic Tex-Mex Restaurant with Excellent Waiter

By Bigredmachine |

Chuy's is a chain restaurant with fairly typical, but high quality, Tex-Mex fair. What really set this meal apart was the outstanding waiter. The hostess that took us to our table had that typical teenage I-don't-give-a-damn attitude, but, from the moment we sat down, our waiter was outstanding in every respect. Most importantly, he made us feel like they valued our business.

Wonderful service and hot delicious food!

By Sdupree83 |

Try the Boom Boom Chicken enchiladas. YUM!! Kids colored a sheet and got $1 off a shirt. Very cool! Margarita on the rocks was NOT watered down, my heroes ;)

Love the Queso

By LovingTelluride |

My husband and I had a very nice lunch last Saturday at Chuy's on Knox St. We had a quiet booth, the service was good, the portions were large, the food tasted great. We were in and out quickly, but never felt rushed. My husband loves their shrimp soft tacos...I had the enchilada dinner with guacamole. Yummy as usual. Our only ding is that parking is at a premium. It's tough to park here if you aren't valet parking. We find that it's easier to park elsewhere while we shop in the area. Still, it's worth the trouble in our opinion.

fast service, good food

By gallagrrrr |

This is obviously a popular place with the local folks. We were seated promptly and our order seemed to take no time at all to arrive. We enjoyed the light, crispy tortilla chips and salsa before dinner. We all ordered the chicken enchiladas. It was a very good meal at a very reasonable price. It is a family oriented restaurant as well. A good place to bring the kids.

Good!

By kvilla900 |

Always good to eat here. Can’t really complain. Mexican food is always best. Lol keep up the great , fast work .

A favorite eatery!!

By Brewer4 |

While in Dallas, two couples decided to stop at Chuy's for some Mexican dinner. The staff was very accommodating and, outgoing, even offering to take our picture when they saw us trying to take a selfie. The food was wonderful! Special requests were easily met, without hesitation. Portions were generous and delicious! Selections ranged from a chicken chalupa to their famous fried potato chip crusted chicken, and a vegetarian request of beans and rice. We were all happy with our choices! Additionally, they were generous with chips and salsa, filling our basket each time it emptied , at no charge. This is a chain restaurant, and we have been to other Chuy's locations, in other states. Compliments to the managers for consistency! We always enjoy a visit to Chuy's!

Tex Mex with Elvis

By carolyna1234 |

Great Tex Mex, Delicious fresh chips, nice happy hour food bar with Queso, meat and chips. Had a delicious stuffed avocado special for dinner. Fresh salsa. Statue of Elvis overlooks all the activity. Found out after if you bring in a picture of your dog they will add it to the wall and you get a free appetizer. Tasty margaritas

Great Patio with bar and wonderful for people watching.

By mikesD7469GU |

Date night here on the patio. fast and very attentive service. Bar is on the patio. Good happy hour, although the house margarita was weaker than it should be. The food is excellent. I had the Elvis Memorial Combo which included a purple tortilla and very good refried beans. Salsa is a little runny, but the chips are thin and very tasty. Had very good sopapillas. I would definitely go back again.

Tortillas that will make your mouth water!

By LMilly |

Fajitas are my go-to when I have Mexican food and Chuy's has amazing fajitas! The tortillas are homemade and amazing. We went on a Friday evening and they had some happy hour specials and free nachos, which was pretty awesome. Drinks are kind of pricey, but overall good food and fun atmosphere.

Very Good Tex-Mex

By gourmetvinotraveler |

We visited with a group of eleven. That is usually a challenge for any restaurant. We were told that the wait would be 25 minutes at 6:00 on a Sunday evening. We were seated in under ten minutes. The chips and drinks arrived promptly. The food came within a reasonable time from ordering (except for one salad that the kitchen missed on the big order). Autumn, our server, did an excellent job of keeping the drinks and chips refilled. She saw that special orders were dealt with quickly and correctly. The food was "classic" Tex-Mex in its special glory. Several in our party had never been to a Chuy's before. Everyone left quite pleased with the meal. We will be back. I reserve five stars for fine dining, but the combination of food and service came quite close. I'd have given a 4 1/2 if I could.

I am addicted

By Jack B |

Because I do not live in Dallas, I have on a few occasions driven directly from the airport after landing to Chuy's. I developed my addiction living in Austin many years ago, and I am willing to schedule layovers in Dallas just to go to Chuy's. Southwestern enchiladas with egg on top -- it must be runny, and I have sent it back if it comes out overcooked -- is my go to. If I can make a second trip, it is for the Chuy's special chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. A Negra Modello or two makes for a perfect evening. Gets crammed on weekends. Go from the airport at 2:30 PM and you have your choice of tables and know the kitchen will get the egg runny. Number 1 in Dallas as far as I am concerned.

Surprisingly great Tex-Mex

By travcav |

Surprisingly great Tex-Mex food. We were a party of six who were seated quickly. The waitress was very patient and attentive throughout our dine in. I order the the Chica-Chica-Boom-Boom and others ordered burritos with Hatch green Chili that were all great. My picky 9-year old is on a burger kick, which they had on their kids menu. The burger looked home made. All in all, an awesome experience

Good Food

By PAD810 |

Good food and great service. Been here several times and haven't been disappointed. Nice place to go if you want mexican. They have good vegetarian options too.

Great Food!

By Allan |

Went to Chuy's with family. Did not know what to expect. Decor was bright and colorful--maybe like being inside a Mexican tile factory. Very ethnic looking and cheerful! Service was a little slow, but they were very busy. I ordered chili rellenios with shrimp. It came with beans and rice. It was really excellent! Chips and salsa were provided and were much better than average. I can't wait to go back to this place.

I don't know if the Food, Atmosphere or Staff was the best part but it was AMAZING

By Scott Morehead |

My Fiancee is from Texas and has been talking about authentic Tex Mex for 5 years and we just had it. WOW my Virginia version is sad compared to this. From the thin chips and chunky salsa to the corn tortilla wrapped chicken enchiladas my mouth is in heaven. This crazy chili sauce on it has ruined me for all other places. And if that wasn't enough the refried beans were thick and still had lumps of beans and I'm shedding a tear thinking about them. My only regret is not having room for desert. Oh and Jeff our shaman for this journey asked our names, got to know us and told my 10 year old about his Son. I feel like part of the family and can't want to come back. A MUST DO PLACE.

Good Food

By darcb |

Pretty Good food, They do have several unusual dishes available that are quite tasty. My favorite there is the creamy jalapeno dip.( Need to ask for it .) There is no extra charge for the dips and salsas. During Happy Hour they have a nacho/taco bar set up for free it is located in the bar, it's serve yourself style.

Fantastic Bar Service and Happy Hour

By midwstgirl |

We went Friday for Happy Hour. Always great margaritas. Jennifer was our main bartender and she is AWESOME. Come see her. Opi was running food from the kitchen and having a blast. The staff were engaged with the customers, each other, and seemed to be having a good time. We split fajitas for one which was plenty for two people. Also fresh salsa, pico, queso and chips. You will not leave here hungry. We sat at the bar but they have a huge patio worth checking out.

Fun for Drinks

By Marisa M |

Chuy's is known for it's crazy atmosphere and funny t shirts. Food is not that great but most people come for the experience and the drinks. Go for a fun time.

Best Mexican in the Country

By 10008rrr |

Love Chuy's, and everytime I get the chance take someone that hasn't been. Reaction always the same, best Mexican food ever!!!

YUM-O

By SunburnedinCabo |

Everything is great here! Can't go wrong with the margaritas. Enchiladas, flautas...all yummy! Always busy for supper.

GREAT VALUE - SUPER STAFF

By Mick T |

A buddy and I hust flew in from Australia and were looking for a quick and tasty meal..... Jackpot!!! The staff were super friendly and helpful and not overbearing. The food was served quickly, plentiful, tasty and all in all, great value for money. Happy hour for 3 hours and we had 4 house ritas, 2 large mains and all for under 40 bucks. This is a nicely presented restaurant with tasty food, reasonable prices and efficient staff. Good value.

All Chuy's Are Great

By slaterster03 |

The consistency from store to store is amazing. Anything with Hatch green chile is amazing. The best food. The best service. Pork tacos are also great.

Good choice for Tex Mex

By 860SusanB860 |

We love this location, though parking can be an issue at times ($5 valet is available). The restaurant has a great, festive interior and is always crowded and lively. We went for an early dinner and the place was already crowded. The menu is nice - lots to choose from! The salsa and chips are yummy. Our margaritas and mojitos were tasty and well-priced. All the enchilada dishes are delicious, especially the deluxe chicken enchiladas with a tomatillo sauce (with cilantro and sour cream). Our only complaints - the place is looking a little beat up (walls, tables, booths, & decor need some paint touch-ups and attention). My main complaint was that both drink menus were filthy (dried salsa, fingerprints, smudges, etc.) VERY nasty - these should be wiped down after each customer. Unacceptable and unhygienic - step it up, Chuy's!

Chuy's - First time, not the last time

By Walls_in_MI |

On 10/12, my friend and I went to Chuy's upon his suggestion. We were promptly met and seated on their great outdoor patio area. The waiter was obviously busy, but did a phenomenal job of staying attentive to our needs. The margarita that I had was very good, reminding me more of a Mexican La Paloma, rather than its overly sweet US counterpart. The Chile Rellenos were wonderful, blending a great corn meal crust with a deep, rich sauce. The atmosphere was wonderful; live, vibrant, and very relaxed. The waiter was not eager to flip our table, which made it nice for us to sit and relax and tell a few stories. Can't wait to return.

Arrive Early!

By Mike R |

We were the first patrons there. We arrived at 10:45 on a Saturday morning and waited until they opened at 11:00. VERY cool décor in this Chuy's, and the new Mexican Martini is outstanding. The food was very good but not Excellent. Service was excellent until the room was about half full, at which time the service slipped to average at best. Still, a very good experience, and I'd go back in a heartbeat!

fast and friendly!

By tallgirl99 |

One of my fav chains - this was a great location and they were fast and friendly and the food was great as always!

Chips, Creamy Jalapeño and Fajitas!

By nowpacking |

Start off with the wonderful light, thin, chips with their salsa and the creamy jalapeño dip! So delicious! We always get the chicken fajitas with homemade tortillas, rice and beans. The fajita taco salas is yummy too but Chuy's is our favorite place for fajitas! Then walk the neighborhood along Knox for some great shopping!

Try the Boom Boom!

By Dic D |

Went here to try out what I’d been promised was some the best Tex Mex and it lived up to the promise. The menu is pretty overwhelming, but if you’re willing to go with your servers recommendations you won’t be disappointed. There were four of us, so ended up trying the steak burrito, steak/chicken fajitas, chalupa and my personal fav the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken. And the boom boom sauce goes perfect with anything!

Different from Plano location

By BeachBatik |

The salsa was better. Very limey, I liked it. Good rice and beans. The big ole burrito lives up to its name. It was tasty. Only one weird thing, they didn't have any sweet tea. I don't know if this was just a one time thing or if they just don't make sweet tea at this location. Not a deal breaker but a little odd.

My Favorite Tex Mex!

By Spencer |

I love Chuy's! Their atmosphere is great, and the food is fantastic. Make sure to try the green chile rice & their hatch green chile sauce. Their chili con queso is wonderful as well. Make sure and grab one of their signature t-shirts which have all of your favorite pop culture references.

Great Margaritas

By Dave-Bev |

I had a chance to see a childhood friend while in Dallas and we went to Chuy's. The server was more than patient with us sitting and visiting for quite some time before ordering our dinner. The food was really good and their Margaritas are some of the best. It was a great dining experience and I will definitely make an effort to go back to Chuy's when I am back in the Dallas area.

Great place!

By Ricki J. |

Have eaten in 3 different Chuy's and have liked all 3! My favorite is the original one in Austin, Tx!!

Awesome as always

By craerut |

First time at the Dallas location. Met for dinner with a family member we haven't seen for years. 3 adults, 2 kids. We were seated promptly and our waitress was awesome!!! Food was delicious. We each ordered the chicken fajitas. Kids ordered cheese burgers and it looked delicious for a TexMex restaurant. Definitely order the jalapeño ranch dip!

Tasty awesome food in a colorfully fun atmosphere.

By opencircut |

This was our first time. Food was deliciously spiced and most menu items were quite appealing. My wife enjoyed the colorful decorations. There were 3 small kids in our party and despite the. screeching the waitor was very nice And even brought them treats. Would certainly return.

Very good food with decent service!

By PrabhuTA |

We ate here recently during our trip to Dallas and this is probably going to become my fav. restaurant as we are relocating here :) This place had really great food and I loved all the flavors and their custom salsas/sauces. Both recommendation given were really good and the food is very reasonably priced. Great options for vegetarians as well. $6 Margaritas hard to beat :)

One of our faves!

By TheKnockoutDiver |

One of our favorite places to eat. Their fajita steak is always very well seasoned and cooked. Portions are large so it's a great value. We go to this location all the time and just found the underground parking... doh! I'll try to explain it... it's in the front parking lot of the shops that are located on the service road to the highway. Basically, between the shops and the service road... hope that helps! Tip 1: Ask for "creamy jalapeno dip" with your chips. It's basically a jalapeno/ranch/cilantro/lime concoction that's very tasty. Tip 2: All their sauces are very yummy but if you want a non-spicy alternative with good taste, ask for the deluxe tomatillo sauce.

Really?!?!?!

By TUTU_POPUP |

This is by far the worst Chuy's I've been to. We ordered a dish and asked for ground meat. I guess because it was late they decided to give us some chopped up over cooked steak and threw the dish together. there was even some fatty meat in them. This restaurant needs to get their act together

Elvis has not left the bldg

By Gary G |

A very good Texas Mex restaurant. Good enchilladas and tacos. The topotos are hot.. Yeah. This is a good sign of a restaurant that cares about the food.

Great happy hour

By Will H |

Ate at Chuy's on Monday after work..... Met my boyfriend and friend..... I ended up with the green chili martini and omg.... It was so delish! Not to mention I live for the chips and guacamole.... And I had the green chilli combo plate..... So good.... Service was awesome too and friendly.... We sat on the patio...... Perfect night!!

It's Okay ... Typical TexMex

By SaltyStony |

The place is okay. The food was fresh and typical. Nothing to set it apart from any other middle-of-the-road TexMex restaurant. Service was good. Prices very reasonable. The grand kids really like this place.

Try their fajitas, yummy

By Linda R |

Chuys has been one of my favorites by far. I usually order the beef fajitas and they are so delicious and tender. The hatch chile is the best and it reminds me of New Mexico. Great location and great service. I'm getting hungry just writing this review.

Still as good as ever.

By Aoihbeal |

Nice plate of tomatilla chicken enchiladas, but I thought the watermelon margarita was odd and too expensive. One thing that stands out though is the fresh mix of salsas.

Typical Mexican American Food

By Christal W |

Been wanting to try this place out on the Plaza. Went for lunch and spent $13 plus tips. Food was typical but good. My enchilada was bland, but taco and chalupa were pretty good with the sauces they provide. The white sauce was very good, the tomato based sauce was more like a watery pico de gallo, but together they both complimented the meal. Was in Dallas last week and had some very good authentic Gramma made it Mexican food so this may have tainted my experience with Chuys somewhat.

Fantastic value Mexican diner

By BrundallbazNorwich |

Really enjoyed this place - fantastic cheap Mexican food - huge portions - only wish they had beer on tap Servers really friendly and quick service even tho it was pretty busy

Highly Touted, But....

By jrjojo |

Chuy's Tex-Mex restaurant was highly recommended to us for the food, but it turned out the service was the best thing about it. The price was predictably low, the chicken portion of the chicken and beef Fajitas was forgettable (the beef portion was delicious). The margaritas were great. Would go again, but not for the Chicken Fajitas.

Decent Mexican food

By MrBynum |

Great decor, decent food at a good price. The place had a sizable crowd and I saw the beginnings of a live music set up. Happy hour from 5-7 includes a free nacho bar and $4 margaritas. the piña colada made with 1800 tequila is a good buy at $7.50.

GREAT FOOD & FUN

By TominCA |

Our Dallas friends took us to Chuy’s for lunch on a Saturday. It was great all around: food, service, and funky atmosphere. The menu offers great choices, drinks were good as were the chips and salsa. Ole!!

Mexico, Texas style

By plantotx |

Best Chips and Salsa in the Metro Plex. Every thing on the menu is great...a family favorite is the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Really great Fajitas, make sure you try them with the fresh made flour tortillas. Full bar and fun atmosphere! Enjoy!

As good as I remembered it

By TN3SA |

My wife had never been, and it has been 4-5 years for me. Fresh made tortillas. Chips and salsa were also fresh and great. Beef fajitas were very good. Meat was tender, not tough and stringy as in some places. Not stingy with meat, but there were few onions and bell peppers. Good thing my wife doesn't like them. Double guacamole portion and shredded cheese came with it. Pleased once again.

Chuy's

By KBSLC |

Good food and bar, selection for vegetarians, more vegetarian item can be added, good service, will visit again

Good food bad service

By Gomez R |

Just started TripAdvisor after my friend told me about it and chuys is where we ate today and the service was horrible the guy never came to us until we looked for him and took forever with our room however the food was good no complains but service was bad

busy place

By Roger F |

As Tex-Mex goes this is some of the best in the area. Service is average to good. Atmosphere is good. My personal favorite is the Elvis Chicken with the Boom-Boom sauce. The Nachos were disappointing. Always a filling meal. I never leave hungry.

Great chips, salsa, food and service - quick!

By Bob S |

Perfect tex-mex, great fast service, delightfully crisp fresh chips with an excellent sausa. I asked for a side bowl of sliced jalapenos, soft corn tortillas - absolutely no problem. The order was hot, quick and delicious. The service friendly and attentive and the atmosphere relaxed and clean (I noticed the tables were "bussed" within just minutes). Good eats!

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND SELECTIONS

By Jaime C |

My first time here tonight and the staff and food was great. I brought my family here for my daugther's birthday and it was very good. I had the chicken enchilada's and the oven roasted chicken was tasty with tex mex sauce.

Good and creative Mexican food

By Berrythree |

Been here a couple of times now and is always dependable. Fun and authentic feeling atmosphere. Day specials are good. I really liked the vegetable enchiladas. Many in our group had fajitas and enjoyed them. Chips a little too salty. Free light white sauce in addition to typical salsa. Really like the neighborhood.

Pay attention to special instruction orders

By Fire F |

The salsa and the sauces are great. Food is so so!! Ordered their house speciality which was the chimichanga. Not only it was very bland, the order was messed up. Server did not know that substitution leads to changes in what they put. Spoke to the manager but she was not helpful nor professional and it did not seem to me that they wanted to keep their customers happy.

Great fun and atmosphere at Chuy's

By dmcnitt |

We found ourselves shopping across the street and ask several people where to have lunch and they all unanimously said "Chuy's"! It did not disappoint even for my mom and dad who admittedly have "gringo" taste buds! Ambiance was great, servers very helpful and our food was very good. I would highly recommend!

Good food, good service...crazy decor

By travelpam33 |

Went there for dinner with coworkers. The service was great. Our server Chad was very helpful and brought us samples if their different sauces. We started with the complementary chips and salsa which were very good. (We went thru a few baskets!) They also offered the Cadillac trunk of nacho bar during happy hour. (If you want queso you can get it from there for free so you don't have to pay extra and order from the menu.) I had a Taco Salad and it was very big...and delicious, I might add. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The place is decorated with plates and pictures and well...so many different things hanging on the wall. An overall laid back atmosphere. Overall the food and service was very good and the price was very good (and the portions are big!). I would recommend this place to anyone.

Love It!

By 108Lexi |

Chuy's is our FAVORITE and after our local Chuy's closed it was a real treat to eat here and our first stop for a sit down meal in Dallas. Every bit as good as we remember. Amazing taste. Please expand and rebuild in the areas you had to close. Great food, great ambiance!

Love their different salsas.

By Thomas D |

All Chuy's are not created equal. This one by far has the best chicken and steak fajitas. They are arguably the best I've ever had.

LOVE Me Some Chuy’s!!

By Rebecca D |

Chuy’s is such a fun location to share a meal with friends or family. Lots of delicious choices on their menu. The Elvis combo is my favorite and the white cheese and chips is to die for! Yum

You shouldn't be in Texas without eating TexMex

By CNB89144 |

My husband and I are visiting Dallas and went to Chuy's on the recommendation of a Dallas resident. It did not disappoint. Festively decorated, the menu had all your favorite mexican dishes with a few surprises thrown in (like Elvis fried chicken, made with potato chips). My husband had a combo platter that had way more food than one should eat with 4 kinds of enchiladas and a taco. He loved everything, especially the boom boom sauce. I had the fajitas, which were marinated for 24 hours and so tender, it could be eaten by a baby, but far too delicious to share. The only thing better than the food was the service. Mason did a great job of helping us navigate through the menu and making us feel at home. Their drink menu looked amazing, but since it was our first of many stops, we did not indulge.

Always Awesome!

By Stephen A |

I love this place. Great nachos and amazing salsa! Never disappoints. They have a great happy hour queso bar too.

Delicious.

By SarahScissorcut |

We go here every time we visit family in Dallas. It's so good and so fresh!! Love the complimentary chips and salsa, jalapeño ranch, and stuffed avocados (*special only on Tuesdays*) we also always get the tres leeches dessert. It's the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Staff is always professional, friendly and helpful. Delicious food and fun environment!!

Perfect place for dinner with friends!

By Cecelia S |

Sunday night... around 7pm... a group of about 14 to 18 people - we decided we would go to Chuy's for dinner. Not only were they able to accommodate us quickly, we were barely noticeable as a group - they were THAT busy! It wasn't hard to see why! Fresh HOT tortilla chips served with excellent salsa, delicious Texas sized and flavored drinks practically materializing out of thin air (and if you think their "regular" is Texas sized, you should see their GRANDE drinks! I chose to order the Chile Relleno - with shrimp and their special tomatillo sauce. They were absolutely delicious! Completely stuffed with plump shrimp and cheese, and crispy batter, a beautiful golden brown. Served with rice and beans, that I think were good, but I hardly tasted them because the chiles were so good! I enjoyed a strawberry mojito with my dinner, and finished up with a sopapilla - a pillow of delicate fried dough, sprinkled with sugar and drizzled with honey that I shared with a friend. It was the perfect touch to end the meal. One of my table mates had wanted to order their "Hatch Chili Special" enchilada with spinach and chili, but that special doesn't start until next week - but they were more than happy to modify one of their regular menu offerings to come as close to what the special will be. She was very pleased with the results, and was very happy that the serving size was HUGE, so she could take leftovers back to the hotel for her lunch on Monday! She also enjoyed the "swirl margarita" which was a regular iced drink with a swirl of berry - it was pretty and tasty! On my other side, both women decided to have crispy tacos - with various fillings! Adding fresh guacamole, the delicious salsa, and regular margaritas. Next to them, someone ordered nachos - and the plate that arrived would have fed an entire table! Our entire group was served quickly and cheerfully - the staff were professional and were able to discuss different menu offerings and make appropriate suggestions, they stayed organized, and clearly were not phased by a large group descending on them without notice. Everyone enjoyed their food and many out of town guests have promised they will return JUST to be able to come back to Chuy's! Those of us who are local definitely will become regulars!

Tex Mex Fun!

By Traci E |

So very glad Chuy's has shown up in Southlake! The food is oh so tasty!! Service is warm and friendly. We always spend the first few minutes once we have been seated to locate the rubber duckies in the room. Fun way to spend the time! Their tortillas (corn and flour) are amazing!! The first time we visited the local Fire Department was sitting down for dinner and received a call. The restaurant staff clearly accommodated the department. They kept the table 'set' and waited for their return. It was great to see their appreciation for the FD's service!

Always good

By AVGTXN |

Friday night. This Chuys is always crowded, yet the service is still very attentive. Expect a 15-20 wait and expect it to be loud. Our enchiladas were good as usual, especially the veggie enchiladas.

I wish I could rate this higher.

By silvermoon55 |

I grew up with Chuy's on Barton Springs in Austin. It was fun, inexpensive, and the food was good. I wish I could say the same for this Dallas outpost. Service was slow, food was so-so and prices were average. Will I be back? Yes, because it is convenient, but if I want better Tex-Mex, I will go somewhere else.

Great Food!

By Joy F |

We went to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant was pretty busy but we got right in. We did valet parking and the gentlemen at the podium was awesome. My daughter was cold and he went back to the car to get her jacket. We tipped him well. It was a little chilly inside. The queso and creamy jalapeno dip are our favorites! YUM! Our server was very busy but seemed to be keeping up until this one group arrived. I think it was a retired NFL player and friends and kids. Once they got there he really concentrated on them and left us hanging.

Busy and Chain-Like

By ayuh |

Fast/rushed service once seated. Replenished Chips. Bright interior. No place to wait for table. Food not special. Parked across from On The Border...which meets and/or exceeds. Cool neon sign. Collegiate crowd.

Treat your tastebuds!

By MKC1959 |

this restaurant was within walking distance of the hotel. I was going to walk away after seeing how crowded the place was, but I got in right away and service was quick and friendly. Great menu, reasonable prices and large portions. Best of all, was the food was great. Walked away, saying I will again stop at Chuy's when I have the chance.

Not Bad

By TexanMade |

We had about a 45 minute wait at the Apple Store across the street so we decided to grab a bite to eat at Chuy's. It looked festive and you really can't go wrong with Mexican food. We were seated immediately and the server was decent. Kinda lacking in the personality department, but he was pleasant. I had the tacos, rice and beans. It was good although I did not eat any of the beans. The real superstar of the restaurant was the chips and fresh salsa. Superb!! I couldn't stop eating it. I ate more of this than my actual meal. The margaritas looked good but I didn't get one, as we got a text from Apple stating they were ready to service my phone. I'd recommend this place if you ever have to wait at Apple.

Great frozen margaritas + great tex-mex

By MarinaBahrain |

Chuy's is my favorite Dallas place for a quick tex-mex meal. Fast service, very busy, fresh home made tortilla chips and salsa sauce and good guacamole. Lots of college kids and their parents. The absolute winner is the frozen margarita. I really have a thing for them here! Try the chicken avocado soup, it is so tasty and great flavor.

Great Tex-Mex

By Carl S |

Chuy's has been at this location for years and their food is always good. Their convertible outdoor space is good any time of the year.

Endless chips good for kids

By ziggy_camp |

This is decent Tex-Mex food in a fun, family friendly environment. The kids enjoyed the endless chips and salsa from the nacho bar. The tacos and enchiladas were tasty with several sauces available. The restaurant was load and raucous, so probably not the best place for a romantic dinner date, but if you're looking for a fun place to eat chips and drink margaritas, you can do much worse.

Flavorgasm

By pstee0072 |

This was my very first visit. Now I am a very loyal fan. If you ever go to the McKinney location in Dallas TX I strongly recommend asking for Jassy or Jasmine might be her full name to be your server. Because I had never eaten here before she noticed my size, gender, asked a few questions and made an outstanding recomendation as what I would probably enjoy. She even brought out some topping samples for my wife and I to try before we placed our order. The tastes of everything were just incredible. I took her recommendations and had no regrets what so ever. The portions were very generous. Chums also signed us up for 3 different reward programs to promote customer loyalty as well as reward for customer loyalty. They have an outstanding sounding happy hour I will be visiting before long. The decor inside was fun as well as festive. The manager mentioned there had been some problems about a year ago, and there had been a real shake up since with extremely positive changes made with extremely positive results. I can't doubt that the changes weren't anything but helpful given what I was told by some staff and my personal experience. I strongly recommend trying the food here. The prices are very reasonable. The food and service was outstanding. The restaurant is in an area with lots of activities to do before or after. The only con I had was the parking. But that's Dallas.

Great food, friendly service

By LarryGentry |

Met a friend here for lunch while I was in town. Luckily I was there a little before noon so I was able to find parking and would recommend the same if you don't want to search for parking. I've eaten at the one in Nashville (apparently the chain started in Austin) and it was just as good as I remember.

good value

By abwolverine |

Lots of selection on the menu. Good value. Accomodating of requests such as no cheese or a different sauce. Staff very nice, and a mix of families and regulars and out of town diners. We had a lot of fun, a lot of margaritas, and a good time!

Best TexMex I've had

By Chase L |

The reason I like Chuy's is because they don't profess to be authentic Mexican food. It says "TexMex" in the title of everyone of their restaurants. When I want texmex, I want a variety of flavor and different sauces, and Chuys definitely delivers on both. If you love texmex, you must try anyone of their chain locations.

Brothers

By Mary B |

We were finally able to take both of my brothers to Chuy's together. It was terrific. We waited about an hour to be seated. They had the self serve nachos bar open. The servers did their best to keep up with the high demand for chips, queso, taco meat, and salsa. We ordered from the menu. The service and food was terrific! Thanks so much!!

Awful

By DMBM13 |

Awful food...the service was just OK that's why I give them two stars. I have no idea on why people recommend this place so much. It's not worth the trip or the money.

Nice Place for Family to Enjoy Good Food

By getupradio |

I enjoyed the food and customer service there. Nice price for each entree and appetizers. A good place for family to enjoy dining as well as good lunch specials.

Not My Style

By Mindy M |

This place isn't the kind of Mexican food I enjoy, sorry but just not a fan. But everyone else in my party loved it - especially the crack sauce as they called it. To me it was like eating Ranch dip on chips. I had heartburn for days after! It was reasonably priced and the atmosphere is fun. The tshirts are cute too.

Great food for a moderate price

By AppleStud |

The layout is always a bit odd--you have to enter and go to near the back to get to the hostess but it's more annoyance than anything serious. Expect a wait of 10+ minutes no matter when you come. This place is popular because the food is tasty and if you like spicy, truly tomato based, salsa and nice chips you'll eat too many LOL. Also, the food selections have LARGE portions so if you order ONE appetizer for the table--be sure to share.

Best thing to real New Mexican cusine

By Cheryl S |

Have ate at a Chuy's before because they serve Hatch green chili. Although the menu stated Hatch green chili, the recipe was different that it was about 3 years ago, so that is why I only gave it a rating of very good. Still the closest thing to the mexican food they serve in NM. Delicious!

Chuy's Dallas

A Tex-Mex Restaurant with Food so Good that even Elvis would Smile!

By John H |

Unbelievably, Chuy's was started in 1982 by two imaginative guys in Austin, Texas, using a dirt parking lot, on which stood a run-down abandoned building-warehouse, with an outdoor restroom! According to Texas legend, the primary interior "design" of the original Austint site was a $20 oversized velvet painting of Elvis, which became the centerpiece for prompting spontaneous donations from customers of other Elvis memorabilia. The Elvis icon became the core of the interestingly quirky decor of the nationwide Chuy chain of over 80 restaurants. Chuy's recognizes the King's birthday every year with celebrations & a specially priced Elvis menu. Elvis impersonators are often found @ Chuy sites on his birthday. The menu is full of delicious homemade enchiladas, (you name it, you got it), with a variety of fillings, flavors, & degrees of heat. Too many to mention! You can close your eyes & point your finger to any of the food items, order it, & you will be pleased with @ least the quality & presentation of the order. I recommend you start with a large order of guacamole, homemade corn tortillas, & a margarita while you take your time to order. Service is outstanding especially @ the McKinney Avenue, Dallas site. You will find a diverse population of customers, some who are in a rush & want fast reliable service, & other old timers like me & my wife who want to take our time. No wonder that the Chuy chain was among the best Mexican restaurants in a USA Today's list of the 15 top rated Mexican restaurants in America!

A Return Visit

By texaswillie |

Once again we were furniture shopping in the immediate area and it was lunch time so we stopped at this location. Had been here before and nothing has changed. Very good food, excellent wait service and fair prices plus a Hugh flowing of customers. In fact, just like the one we often visit in Plano. When other Mexican restaurants seem to be struggling for customers, Huey locations are alway packed with customers. Must be the food and service!!!

Great lunch

By conniejohnson |

We all had tacos and they were delicious. Service great always checking on us. Price very reasonable and great for family or friends.

Nothing special

By 42fireball |

Stopped he for late night dinner. Ended up being the only ones in the restaurant. Food was average for Mexican. The service was terrible. Obviously the staff had all been hanging out at the bar watching the Cowboys game. They were all yelling and they definitely did not want to stop watching the game to take care of our table. Find someplace else to spend your money especially during a football game!!

Chuy's always Delivers

By John G |

My family and I have been coming to Chuy's for at least 12 years on the average every other month or so. Why? The atmosphere, the food, the service. I have been to nearly every Chuy's, from the Austin Barton Springs original to the newest in North Dallas. All have personable, attentive, friendly service. All are quirky and fun. All have the amazing Margaritas and great happy hour. But the food. Oh, the food! Nothing better than the Southwestern Enchiladas with Blue Corn Enchiladas and an egg on top...just like Mom used to make back in Albuquerque. Wow! Although...the Green Chile Stew is amazing. Or maybe the Mexi-Cobb salad. In short, you can't miss with Chuy's.

Great Food!

By Cara C |

Chuy's never disappoints! Flour tortillas made to order in the restaurant. Excellent queso and a great, fun atmosphere.

Tacos Al Carbon are not what I expected

By Tirzah D |

If you are use to actual tacos so carbon don't order the ones from Chuy's. I always forgrt that and end up ordering them and I'm always disappointed. Please know there is also parking behind the restaurant. I parked on the side and it is very hard to back out of the spot. The staff were nice enough but for real the food was lacking.

Mexican food and Elvis kitsch

By Turbogirl25 |

This was fabulous. It was a bit out of the way but worth it in every way. The food was magnificent and voluminous - we found it difficult to finish a dish each and there were 4 hungry adults. The atmosphere was very family oriented and noisy, so don't go there is you want an intimate experience. You feel that you should eat and move on. There were people constantly coming, eating and leaving. The glorious thing, apart from the food, was the décor. A life size statue of Elvis takes presence in the centre of the room and there is amazing 50s décor throughout. Really, don't miss this. It was worth the trip from Australia!

Good Food; Great Service !

By wildbillwww |

The quality of the chips and salsa will tell you if the management cares about the restaurant. These chips are light and grease free. The salsa is thick and rich; not like some cheap store brand. We ordered chicken fajitas to split. The chicken was sparse, but the condiments; avocado, sour cream, lettuce, & tomato, were plenty. The waiter brought extra tortillas and was very attentive. This is a fun place and good food, but get here early. The restuarant fills up quick. We'll be back.

Tex Mex

By A B |

Lunch @ original Chuys in Dallas. Good fish tacos, chips and salsa. Bloody Mary was good...nothing extra though.

Great as Always

By brightmorningstar17 |

We always seek a Chuys when traveling. Menu is reliable, never disappoints. Love the Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas. Awesome hand made tortillas and hand pulled roasted chicken. Try the jalepeno dip. Great charro beans and green chili rice. Very unique and authentic Chuys.

Amazing service at the bar!

By FortLauderMausi79 |

Me and my boyfriend were in town from Florida - we checked out Trip Advisor to see what Dallas had to offer for Tex Mex and Chuy's came recommended. Boy do they hit it dead on - the service was impeccable - we sat at the bar and the bartender (Longer black hair) was outstanding. He was not only making drinks for the bar customers - but also for tables. We walked in and the wait for a table was about 30 min on a Saturday night - but we opted for the bar and are happy we did! Had the Chuys special and it was amazing. This place is also huge, family friendly, and offers a casual dining experience!

Heavenly Tex Mex .....

By MaryKristi |

After living in the middle east for over a year I was so thrilled to sit down to some amazing TEX MEX! The wait staff was incredible. Hot chips, salsa bowl never ran dry! The staff was attentive and made sure we were satisfied with all of our choices. Which we were! They gave the little girl that was with us a ball of dough to play with to keep her occupied while waiting on dinner. The food was so good that we went back the next night also... and again, same treatment and same high quality of food! Saturday night there was a 35 minute wait .. but was worth it!!

I love chuys!!!!

By BRANDON B |

great food fun place wonderful drinks fun to meet friends or family or co workers for happy hour. love this place.... its been too long.

Fun and good food

By Susie M |

Although a bit loud, we really enjoyed our meal with 8 people. Ordered a variety of meals and all were good. Apparently we hit happy hour with free queso and beans. Yummy margaritas!

Special place in my heart

By CraftBeers |

There are several Chuy Restaurants around the DFW metroplex, but this specific one in the Knox/Henderson area of Dallas has a special place in my heart. I've been visiting this location since the early 90's when it was a novelty Mexican restaurant expanding from Austin, TX. My twenty something kids grew up going here. We've sat in the hubcap room, the Elvis Booth, at the bar, in the fountain room and in the main dining. All the areas have a different fun look. I am still a fan of their Tex-Mex flavors. The seasoning and sauces are great. Boom-boom sauce is my go to. The jalepeno ranch is genius. All of their food is great. Hatch Chile Season is a must do. I have had some bad experiences over the years from poor servers to mixed up orders, but I keep coming back. Now it's more of a tradition and/or nostalgia.

Free Happy Hour Nacho Bar can't be beat!

By a1davis |

Great Happy Hour margaritas and the best FREE Nacho bar in the metroplex! Fun place to meet friends or family. Can be a bit noisy when live music is playing, but the music selection is good and the singers are too.

Mexican Food for People Who Don't Know Mexican Food

By Randy B |

This well-attended chain outpost is quasi-Mexican food for people who prefer a festive party atmosphere over quality Mexican food. It’s noisy – at least in the front section. The food our party ordered was undistinguished at best, flavorless at worst. This is the type of chain Mexican restaurant one would expect to find in Nashville or Boise, not in Texas. The service, while well-enough intentioned, had us laughing at times – food and drinks we ordered not arriving, food arriving that we didn’t order, waitress repeating our order multiple times in various botched versions (possibly because she was having trouble hearing us over the noise.) For much tastier food, albeit in a much more modest setting, walk across Central Expressway to the Velvet Taco.

Second lunch

By Wade G |

Had to meet a friend for lunch and it had to be a second lunch food was really great ordered a salad and enjoyed every bite... Would live to eat here again

Pretty good food

By BLCamp |

Entertaining festive atmosphere, good food for a reasonable price. Salsa has good flavor and medium heat. Order the fresh flour tortillas with butter, now that is a real treat. Good fajitas.

Good drinks and food

By Ashley |

Had a margartia during happy hour that was good. Tried the chicka chicka boom boom and really enjoyed it. Very spicy. The salsa and chips were good. Chips were very thin and broke easily but tasted good. Only thing I didn't care for was the guacamole.

Great Mexican, great service.

By Montgomery H |

We walked in on a packed Friday night but someone working the bar area grabbed us a high table and sat us immediately. We were very happy we did not have to wait 30 minutes. The food was great, drinks were awesome and the service was very good as well. Great spot to enjoy some margs and chips and dip!

Great Mexican Food!

By Joy F |

Fast and polite staff. Food is great! Queso is really good. My favorite is the Steak Burrito with Queso on it.

Delish with a fun atmosphere

By Melissa S |

Everything was very good, especially my margarita. Typical tex-mex with a lively atmosphere, but nothing out of the usual or particularly note-worthy to drive it into the 5-star range. Overall, great time though!

Great Atmosphere Mediocre Food

By TravelSamDallas |

Place looks great, good place to go with groups. Salsa is fresh cut and tastes great. I had the stacked enchiladas and they were bland. Not spicy at all, had to add hot sauce to add taste. Quesadillas is a waste of time. More like a Taco with no taste. Chuys needs to get act together.

Great price for awesome Mexican food!

By saraheT922KB |

Expect a fun & funky atmosphere, excellent service, and fresh, delicious food. Their salsa is superb with fresh chunks of onion, peppers & cilantro, and their tortillas are home made. I usually order fajitas, but this trip I couldn't resist the Baja Tacos. Crispy friend fish with all the toppings, plus I added the Boom Boom sauce. OMG! Oh...and Elvis was in the house!

Good good selection, great service

By Nic110 |

Stopped by twice during a business trip- a bit loud one night, but we were still able to hold a conversation without yelling. Service is exceptional- friendly greeters. Servers are helpful, one server called in the kitchen manager to help us select a meal for someone with a restricted diet. Great work!

Awesome tex-mex!

By travelr0x |

We always enjoy eating at Chuy's! The #1 combo and the Elvis fried chicken are both amazing! Be sure to ask for the creamy jalapeño dip!

Holy Cow This is Good!

By myzygy |

Every single aspect of the dinner at Chuy's was fantastic. The service was quick and extremely friendly. The food - oh wow, the food was great. Our group of 8 loved the appetizers and the meal. This would be impossible to improve. Keep in mind - hot means HOT. The Southwestern sounds good, but you better be able to handle the heat. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is so so good. Cost is extremelly reasonable.

Another visit to Chuys

By Sharon P |

We come to dallas every few years and have always enjoyed Chuys. I got an item off their lighter menu and it was very good. Kids love the chips and the ranchy dip.

Bland sauces, mediocre Tex-Mex, but fine ice margaritas

By darkswede218 |

More a college drinking establishment that serves food than an example of classic Tex-Mex. The tortilla chips are fabulously thin. The chips are literally semi-transparent! Ordered queso on the side to go with the salsa-fresco. The queso was good but not worth the extra $6. Waitress was awkwardly chummy and actually sat down with me to go over the menu. Hmmmm... Got the Elvis 3 enchilada combo. Rubber chicken, bland ground beef and some sort of cheese enchilada. The tomatillo sauce was flavorless, not sure what the other two sauces were supposed to be. One may have been Molle?? Couldn't tell. Overall the meal was flavorless and unappetizing and at 8:30 pm, I was HUNGRY. The lime ice margarita was very good. Four flavors served from Slurpee dispensing machines. Flat screen TV's with sports all around. I would not come her to eat. But it would be a fine place to drink.

Great food and good service

By CarolineSiblini |

A really nice place to eat great Mexican food.our waiter was really helpful with our breakfast and actually made us something that wasn’t on the menu. I’ll go back whenever I’m back in Dallas Oh and btw they have GREAT margaritas👌🏻

Creamy Jalapeno

By NotALostWanderer |

Long-time fan of Chuy's - favorite order is the Chuychanga with creamy jalapeno sauce. Queso dip was delish too. Kids love the fajitas. This location has a great patio and screened in dining room, with Elvis.

OFrat Boy Text Méx Food w/Elvis? - now come on

By GrodTzu |

Decent TexMex, bar/adult beverages. But what self-respecting Mexican eatery would try to distinguish itself by hamming-it-up w/Elvis collaboration? Come on. Blue Suede Shoes & Blue Corn Chips? ... really? This is a chain - & this specific restaurant is a couple exits down Central Expressway from SMU. When you eat here, you'll be surrounded by Tiffany's & Biff's directly from frat/sorority house row at SMU. Regardless, kinda fun place even if you're not "Greek", w/decent food, outstanding chips/salsa's, and lotsa adult beverages molded kiddie style to attract Tiffany/Biff ... you know ... frozen strawberry/kiwi/passion fruit margaritas - w/cherry on top, etc. etc. Enjoy it for what it is, but don't tell any self-respecting TexMex aficionado that you ate there ... you're liable to get a "time out" & your allowance suspended for a couple weeks.

I wish we had this in WISCONSIN

By Stellpflugk |

I can tell you that the experience and the food are worth any wait you may have to get a table at Chuy's. The place is decorated in such a fun way, there are tables, booths and outdoor seating to fit any need. The food variety and quality was excellent. I can't wait to go back again to this location or any that may cross my path in the future.

You're in Texas - there are better Mexican food elsewhere to be had

By AmgE55 |

Mediocre food, inconsistent drinks, poor service. Chuy's has been on a tear to open more and more restaurants and it looks like they're stretching beyond their competencies to replicate their initial success formula. The beef tacos we had were just ok. A lot of other filler foods (rice and beans) on the plate but the main attraction was smaller portions for its price. The margaritas we ordered tasted drastically different each time they came to the table, different bartender each time? The service was really slow, for a Wednesday they probably were understaffed and this poor waiter was running around not able to keep up. I wished I had just gone to a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant instead of a chain restaurant. Price and the food would have been better, probably would have been served by the owner too!

Please focus on the details

By MSS |

Always love the food and atmosphere of any Chuy's, but my last visit was a little unimpressed. Didn't get my order correct, but quickly fixed it, but really the two biggest guys at the table were going to share a dish..??? Please stop with the auctioneer of food plates. Just teach servers how to enter in orders by seat position and the runners to know how to deliver. This is a problem in the industry not only here. Again, the order was fixed and the food was good. Great area, nice to sit outside and see the local activity.

Better Than Average

By wadleyfla |

Enjoyed a very good meal here. Tried the Chuy's special enchillada, with blue corn tortillas. Great flavor. Chips are light and fresh, salsa is far from bland. Atmosphere is casual and fun, not fancy. Would be a great place to kick back. Has both outdoor and indoor seating.

Great Mexican Restaurant

By texaswillie |

Was shopping in the area and stopped by for lunch just before noon. Glad we chose that time as the place was packed by 12:30. Was seated promptly and had a great waiter. He answered every question we had. Bought us chips and three differ dips. One was too spicy for my spouse so he brought another that was greatly “toned down”. The chips were warm and as thin as could be. The salsa and chips were the best. Ordered the tortilla soup, since they did not offer caldo. I was told the soup was the best next thing to caldo. They brought out a really large bowl that was steaming hot and filled with chicken, cheese, avocado, corn, carrots and other veggies. The soup was excellent and getting though a bowl took a little time. On the side were two hot tortillas. My spouse ordered the chicken taco salad which was crisp greens and a lot of white meat chicken. She advised it too was delicious. Our glasses were kept topped off and we could not have ask for a better waiter. The prices are a little more than one might expect for lunch at a Mexican restaurant in this area, but the food was well worth the small extra cost. Chuy’s actually looks like a Mexican restaurant from south of the boarder. Parking around the restaurant is at a premium and there is limited parking on the street. This was one of the best lunch meals at a Mexican restaurant we have had in a vey long time.

Well above average and perfect service!!!

By mjwTexas |

My son in law and I stopped in here on our way through Dallas. I love the one in Austin and was thrilled to see they were in the Metroplex too. The food is above average but our server, Irvin (or something like that) was over the top! He changed the experience from "above average" to "AWESOME"! Our fajitas for two were cooked to perfection and the amount of food on the setup (pico, guacamole, sour cream and cheese) were the most I have ever seen in a chain restaurant. Our server was attentive but not overly "in your face". Our drinks were filled promptly. I got a to go container for the queso and he brought me a bag of fresh chips to take home with the queso. He also brought me a to go tea! I would go back for the food without a doubt but I would definitely go back for the service. The whole restaurant is a little loud for me but that's part of the have-a-good-time atmosphere they intend.

Old Favorite for Good Reason

By nickyray55 |

Somehow sort of forgot about Chuy's for a while. Recently returned and can't believe i stayed away so long. We had combo platters for lunch and both were just so flavorful. Crispy beef taco also a stand out. I had the large frozen margarita. Had to take a nap when I got home. It's a doozie ! I recall when Chuy's first opened in the West End. The 1990's I believe? Back then it was a breath of fresh Tex-Mex air. To remain consistently good for tat long is truly an accomplishment. As a bonus the colors and the decor just puts one in a festive mood.

Tortillas are fresh made and baked, pico de Gallo prepared fresh - if you like Mexican food this is a step up!

Hit or miss - but overall goo

By mshbnyehud |

We enjoyed our visit to Chuy's. Getting nearby parking can be challenging but we were lucky to get a spot close by. Seated immediately on a Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m. They have a vibrant bar area separate from the dining area, but you can order from the full menu in the bar if you choose. Unlimited chips and salsa -- and two distinctively different types of salsa - one tomato based finely chopped and the other a cream green chili base. I ordered a chicken filled green chili salsa enchilada and a meat filled chili relleno combination plate (with green chili rice and charro beans). It took quite a while for the meal to be delivered. Meanwhile I did enjoy their "basic" margarita -- quite delicious for $7. The plate arrived super hot and the meal was very tasty in all respects. Portions are large, and I ended up taking half home with me for lunch the next day (it re-heats quite well in the microwave). I'm sure Chuy's isn't the best Mexican food in Dallas but quite a decent experience, and high value.

Something different

By CarolinaKiaraOctavio |

I'm accustomed to Mexican and Te Tex-Mex food but this Tex-Mex food was different. I ordered a plate with blue tortillas which I had never heard of. Waitress offered to have me taste one before ordering. It was delicious. Everything had such great flavor. I ordered Chuy's Special (stacked blue tortillas with hand-pulled chicken & topped with green salsa and sour cream, and rice and refried beans). My husband had one of those Bigger Than Yo Face Burritos-enormous and very tasty! Also ordered a strawberry Margarita and a 3-leches cake for dessert. Everything was very good. The decor I though was more American dinner but still very nice. You can also buy their t-shirts for $10.

Good food

By 972traveler |

Good food...large portions....reasonable price. It tends to be busy and loud. Some of the dishes that were supposed to be mild were pretty spicy

Great Time!

By Christopher H |

I have been to their Southlake location but this was my first time going to the Dallas one. I went with my friend after we had a very unfortunate experience at a different Tex-Mex place nearby. Chuy’s is definitely one of my favorite places since moving to the DFW area. The energy inside was really fun and even though they were busy, we didn’t really have to wait. One of the managers stopped by and gave us a coupon for free queso, which was really nice. Our server was great and all the food came out perfectly. A third friend met up with us for drinks as well. Overall, this is just a really great and fun place to have food and drinks. I definitely recommend.

Used to be so much better

The last couple of times I visited I was very disappointed with the service, and the food. My food was almost cold and it wasn't what I ordered :/ Also, the waitress was not focused on what she was doing. The manager did try to make up for her shortcomings, but we were already done with this location. The one in Plano is so much better with everything.

Best Tex-Mex in Texas

By Dylana Barraza |

This is the best tex-mex in Texas. Fresh home made salsa. The best home made chips. Tortillas made right in front of you. Ask for the creamy jalapeno chip dip. Its free and is awesome to dip the chips in. Their fajitas are awesome. Kids crispy tacos are also really good. Fun decor good service family friendly. You have to check this place out.

First time visit. We Love

By Julie |

First time visit. We Love this place!!! Atmosphere was happening! Got away from my standard likes. So glad I did. Started with homemade frozen raspberry margaritas that were very good. Chips. Salsa & this amazing creamy jalapeño ranch. Then I asked our FABULOUS waiter Rolando for his recommendation. He ordered the IN YO FACE spicy chicken, cheese & bean burrito with their homemade BOOM BOOM sauce for me. BOOM. Flavors/ Spices were well blended. I enjoyed each bite thoroughly ( per Naturally Slim). Don’t think we ended there. Needed to try the Tres Leche cake since this item is NOT on the menus in STL. So so good. Words can not describe. Seriously. Lastly, the sanitized utensils came in a sealed wrapper with PRAYERS said my 3 different denominations. I so needed that today! I think we were meant to be here today. Hope your visit is as memorable as ours. Enjoy & Blessings

waiter was a cold fish - food not as good as i hoped

now the waiter did his miminum duty, a little slowly, but if he wasn't just noticeably unlikeable, i wouldn't say anything. i guess this was practice for someday in the future when the machines take over serving us food! menu was creative but they just didn't spice the food with much skill imo and i couldn't save it with what they had had at the table.

Margaritas and TexMex! 'Nuff said!

Attentive service, very good food and excellent margaritas. This was a return visit for us and it was just as good as the first time here. We enjoyed the taco salad, chicken chalupa and chicken boom boom. No one went away hungry. You have to try the strawberry margarita! Excellent.

The food was great and the service was awesome. Had lunch and the plates were large and lots of food at a great price for Dallas.

Love me some Chuy's!

By turbojim |

Great food, great drinks and great service! We had a large group this time, approx 25 people but as always, the staff at Chuy's was very accommodating. The food was incredible and they even gave us multiple baskets of chips/salsa while we waited for space to open for our group. This is a must stop for us every time we are in the area. And don't forget the Tres Leches!

Was very busy but worth it

1srt visit — Fri nite dinner

By Dave K |

Had dinner with my son who was told to try this place. Had a short wait before getting a table. Waited at the bar & had a Margarita...very tasty but cud have had a bit more tequila in it. Restaurant was busy / lively. Our waiter was very nice & informative. Food was delivered in a timely manner & was well prepared & delicious. Very good value for the price. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Lived up to its hype

This restaurant was recommended by a local, as well as your site. We loved watching the woman make the homemade tortillas served here while we were waiting to be seated. Happy, young server. she answered questions about the menu and brought 3 different sauces for us to taste. She didn't mind us sharing a meal and brought extra plates without our asking. she refilled drinks fast and there was plentiful ice in my water!! Checked several times if we needed anything, but not too many. We were there a good hour or so, killing time before flight with no complaints or pressure to get moving. We tipped highly for all the above reasons. Thumbs up for us!.
