Great food, great service

By BonniBee |

We had planned to eat at another Mexican restaurant, but ran into problems and had to change our mind. This Chuy's was close to our hotel, and we have Chuy's at home, so we knew it would be a safe place to eat. We were right. The only negative was that our wait ended up being a little longer than they told us it'd be, but we know that they can't control that. Our food was wonderful, margarita's were good. I don't think anybody at our table of 9 had any problems at all, which says a lot. Eat here. You won't regret it.

Good eats!

By TexMex0 |

Great place to eat, not authentic TexMex but a nice change. The wait staff are great and the restaurant is clean. And don't forget to grab a margarita, happy hour (4-7) it's pretty nice to include their Nacho bar at no additional cost. If you like to eat outside they have a great patio.

Appetizer’s Delight

By Antonio V |

Not wanting a full blown meal, we decided to go for the Appetizers and we were not disappointed. It was very delightful in having a variety of dishes to choose from and savor. Enjoyed and will definitely be returning back to Chuy’s.

Always good and very consistent

Love the food there and the people are superior. This is a well managed restaurant with a great operation.

Chuy's = good food!

By BBoyDTF |

We took a family of 4 (2 teens) on a Thursday evening around 7:00 to the Chuy's at I-10 & Loop 1604. The restaurant was probably at 90% capacity, but we were seated within 2-3 minutes. Ryan was our waiter and he was prompt and service was great. We ordered one of their burritos (big as your face) and it was BIG, beef fajita naches, Combo #3 (the beef taco was superb), and a kids' meal cheeseburger. All the food was tasty, fresh, and again service was fine. Thanks for a great meal - we had leftovers - their portions seem to be plentiful.

Quick lunch

By Adelai R |

Service was quick and tasty. I knocked over a glass of water and they were right there to clean it up. I appreciate service like that! I love coming down to Texas for tacos!

Great food, not ready for curbside or delivery..

By jffielde |

Chuys has great food, but is not yet capable of home delivery (which they don't offer) or curbside (which they aren't competent to execute). Once they enter modernity, I will welcome their delicious food.

Good food and atmosphere.

By jescrossman |

Good food and wonderful atmosphere, with reasonably priced food and the homemade tortillas were amazing!!!

Chuys. Vice

By Irene M |

Pina colada. And strawberry Margarita mixed Yum. The Deluxe Combo plate was great. The chicken flauta. Was moist inside great flavor. Overall the food was great. Lively restaurant kinda of loud. Service was good , the food was bought out quickly. I would come back again.

Father's Day disappointment

By MycornerofTexas |

We drove down from Austin to take my father out for lunch. Chuy's is where he wanted to go. We arrived and were promptly seated ... But that was the last prompt thing to occur. Waited quite a while until the waitress showed up. Had to chase down the woman who filled up chips twice because even with my husband politely gesturing and calling to her ... Her mind was elsewhere. The waitress returned and took our drink orders and that of two tables that arrived after us. The drinks arrived and she took our order Mexican Cobb salad, crispy tacos plate, kids Chicken tenders with fries, and I ordered the nachos as a lunch item not an appetizer. We were very clear about that. We wait for what seemed like forever, and my nachos arrived and we assumed that the other meals were on the way. I asked for some sour cream to with my nachos. We were wrong. The waitress came after ten minutes and apologized for my meal coming first and said the others would get their food soon. Well over ten minutes later everyone else's food arrived by then I was done and my soon had filled up on chips and was no longer hungry. My father and husband ate their meals which were good but nothing to write home about. All in all a less that great lunch experience.

Good food with a Mexican twist

By Proimagesphoto |

This is not Tex Mex but a fusion of Tex Mex and Mexican food with some unique dishes only found here. The hatch enchilada plate is a must try.

Do not recommend this Chuys

By Michelle F |

I've eaten at the Chuys chain and never had. Bad experience until this time. It took 20 minutes to be waited on, we were about to leave when the waiter took our order. It then took 30 minutes for our food, shrimp tacos and a burger (yes, I know, odd for a Mexican restaurant) The food was cold when we got it. Never got a refill on our water or tea. Had to ask twice for the green dip. Restaurant did not appear that busy, many employees just standing around. Asked one for a To go cup of water on our way out and he just stared at me. Then a younger table buser brought me one. I'll skip this place next trip. San Antonio has many amazing restaurants, Is skip this one.

2 nights in a row!

By TaurusMom |

Went there 2 nights in a row--plus a 3rd time. Loved sitting outside-not as loud and it's gorgeous. Veggie Enchilada's are so good! Fish tacos are pretty ordinary, but still enjoyed them. Will always come back--food is well priced!

Awesome!!

By melirouge |

Great food and great service! Unexpected treasure of Mexican food in the shopping center area. Great atmosphere and decor.

Disappointed

By David R |

Service was slow and the food was terrible. I ordered the beef fajitas and they were dry and burned. Beans and rice had no flavor, just mush. Tortillas were cold.

Dinner

By Praetor13 |

My wife and son wanted to get Mexican food while in town, and we decided to try Chuy's due to it's close proximity to our hotel. I am glad we did. The atmosphere has a tropical beachy theme going on and was different from many Mexican places we have eaten at. The staff was nice and understanding of the fact we had never been there before. The food was great. I always get chimichanga as a first impression at any Mexican restaurant I go to. Their's was very good with great flavor profiles and an abundance of meat inside. The sauces were a great accent to the dish, especially the creamy jalapeno sauce. This sauce was more of a dip, but it was the star of everything. Even my wife, who absolutely hates spicy anything loved this sauce. My son inhaled two containers of it with his dinner. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Tropical Interior

By Fleurt123 |

Great Mexican restaurant for lunch or dinner. Our attentive waitress offered us plenty of chips and salsa and refilled it every 5 minutes! Food was plentiful and tasty. Restaurant air conditioned plus there is a pretty outside seating area under the shade of the trees, but unfortunately it was too hot to sit outside when we went. Interior is themed with a tropical feel. Ideal for all the family.

Adam S. was awesome

By cajuntxn |

My partner choked on a chip and I had to run and get water. Our server Adam came running and offer the Heimlich which was not needed though. He told us a story and was just a great addition to the meal. He is what customer service is all about. Thanks Adam because good service, is hard to find these days.

Consistant

By Hal M |

I have never eaten at this particular location but it is just as good as any I have visited in the Midwest. Friendly and helpful service. Will go back for sure..

Great food

Great food and fast service. Had the Elvis dish and was completely full. Great price! The waiter, Marc was very nice and the service was fast

New Mexico flavors in a city of Tex-Mex!

By Johnnie D |

Chuy's has a funky vibe about it. The crazy decor from velvet paintings, flying fish and metal palm trees over the indoor tables makes this place seem a little kooky. But for some good New Mexico flavors outside of New Mexico, this is the place to go. I personally like the deep red chili gravy they use here. And when the Hatch chilies are in (Aug 14 - Sept 3) it is definitely a place to go. The Classic enchiladas are a favorite of mine with homemade corn tortillas, cheese, red onion and that red chili sauce. I also like the Panchos with beef fajitas. Ask for the Creamy Jalapeno sauce when you get seated. Good margaritas too! There is lots of parking but when things get busy here, you may have to park in the shopping center next door. Prime time means a wait to be seated. Tip: This is the place to celebrate Elvis' birthday!

Great food amd service, but...

By Misterbunns |

We went on a Saturday evening, not busy when we got there at 4:30 and was busier when we left. The food was real good and the service was great as well. Just a few housekeeping issues. Our table still had some crumbs from the previous patron, and this could be overlooked. My wife said the restroom was clean. The most disgusting thing was the tortillas being made. Employees were rolling the dough and handling the tortillas with bare hands! One of the workers pushed up her glasses and then kept on working the dough. Personally, this should be a health department issue that truly needs to be addressed. Maybe a call to the health Dept?

A place for the "IN" crowd

By SpringBranch |

Chuy's is more of a fad than anything. A place to be seen. Too noisy for me. Food was fair for Mexican food but not real Mexican. Margaritas were weak but guess since it was happy hour, you only get half a shot of Tequila. I won't be going back.

Great Mexican Food

By Diana M |

Chips and salsa are a great starter. Had the chicken enchiladas, delicious meal. Highly recommend if you're looking for good authentic Mexican food.

To go order

By pnkgirl27 |

Looked like a fun place to try so we popped in to place a to go order. We went in the to go order door and no one was at the bar so we went to the front hostess area and was told to go back to the bar. We waited a bit until ab employee showed up in which she had to ring out the customer's order she brought out, we waited, we were ready to order when another customer jumps in front of us with an order. After that the employee answered the phone and took another to go order before us. It wasn't even a peak dining time yet We waited over 30 min to just place an order. Where is the manager or other employees to help take orders if it is that backed up? The food was mediocre and not worth all the hassle we had to go through to order.

Goos eats

By MKM78163 |

Have been here several times. We used to go alot during happy hours, and they had the trunk of the old chevy open with a nacho type munchie setup (ground beef, cheese, chips, salsa, etc.). It was cool. Not sure if they still do that or not, but the food is always good and the service is good too.

food ok-great service

By Joe D |

Went there with daughter, her husband, grand kids & great grand kids, (10 total), immediate seating and great service. I ordered the 3 item combo, plenty of food, price ok, but not authentic Mexican food. I thought the salsa was really bad.

Great Tex-Mex

By balanceok |

Always great Tex-Mex in Texas and this is one of the best. Beautiful location, with great service and excellent food. Love the light texture of the chips and they have a wonderful creamy cilantro dip available. We had enchiladas and tacos and were all very happy. Beans and rice were also good. Definitely a place to keep coming back to. Enjoy.

Good food, excellent service

By an0nym0us444 |

This is a terrific Tex-Mex place for my husband and I. He orders beef fajitas, and I go for the chicken burrito. The salsa can be hot, but our waitress made sure w e had lots of ice water. Margaritas are super!

Oh Chuy's, we love you and will always be faithful to you.

By Tim B. |

This is our go-to Tex-Mex (in San Antonio or when traveling). This location has a great, welcoming atmosphere and architecture. The large straw-thatched room or the fish-garland throughout... indoor or outdoor seating (uncovered), bar and appetizer areas. Food: Wow! That's what it's all about. Chuy's chips are light, warm and fresh. Their salsa fresca cannot be matched. Ask specifically for the creamy jalapeño ranch (free) for your chips. Order the queso appetizer - also unmatched. We love the beef crispy tacos, the big-as-your-face ground beef burrito, the Elvis enchilada platter and the chicken fajitas. Just never had a bad meal at Chuy's.... oh and the t-shirts are fantastic too.

Fresh Tex Mex and Fabulous Tres Leches!

By Robyn M |

Ordered through Grub Hub. Great experience. Quick delivery and silverware included. I Really great fresh flavors. Homemade tortillas were amazing. Yummy guacamole and salsa. Huge servings. The taco was one of my favorite things. OMG, the Tres Leches Cake! Phenomenal!!

Just OK

By MichaelBernst2 |

Came here because of memories from how good food was from Dallas days. The saving grace of my dinner tonight was the food. While not outstanding, it was very good steak burrito. What was not good was the service. While not that busy, they clearly understaffed. Servers are young and inexperienced. Wait times too long. Didn't bring items requested, had to go to bar to get my own beer ( terrible experience worth its own write up)...etc. I hate being annoyed when eating! Again, food good for what it is,!service is poor management oversight issue and overall it makes for "sub adequate" meal. Hope this helps.

Cute atmosphere

By Lisa G |

Food was good - ordered fajitas - service was very good - good value for the money - went for dinner - much more of a lunch place but the food was good

Good but very loud

By Vfec |

The food is tasty and plentiful . The chips are fresh and the salsa is original . The staff is very attentive . The downside is that it is very loud. They need to turn the music down and switch from rock to southwestern.

Good value

By DingoBB |

I love the fajitas. Great value. Large amounts (too much possibly) and cheaper prices that don't break the bank.

Good food - good price

By randall1025 |

We chose to do take out this trip. The food was still warm when we arrived home. The vegetarian enchiladas were delicious. Try the special sauce with chips and pour over your food! Yum!

Different and unique

By Proimagesphoto |

The Tex Mex with a twist place to eat. It's fun decor and great staff make this a place to hang out and enjoy the eats, atmosphere and good margaritas. My wife and I love this place to get a good bite before going out or going home.

I Always Order The...

By TallyHoHoHo |

I've loved Chuy's since it's inception in Austin. So happy to have one closer to my home now on IH-10. Love the atmosphere. Love all the crazy colors, portraits, hubcaps, spanish tiling and palm trees, but I love their food, more! Every time I come here, I think I'm going to try something new, and find myself completely unable to not order the chile rellenos. I don’t typically like rellenos, but the way they make these, it's the best anywhere. Crispy outer shell, tender chicken and cheese, the poblano pepper is perfectly cooked and usually mild enough to add flavor without overpowering the other ingredients. The small pieces of onion and tomato make the dish pop and the deluxe tomatillo sauce is what pulls all the flavors together. It's a filling lunch for around $16 with tip. My server was Ales, even though my receipt said Michael S. He did a great job keeping the tea filled and checking back in. They must train their staff pretty well, because this has been my experience at all of the Chuy's restaurants I've visited. Polite, sharp, quick. Can’t complain about the free chips! Always crunchy and great to take off the immediate hunger while you wait for your food. My tip to you is to ask for additional tomatillo sauce when you order this dish. They never add enough and it’s what makes the dish my favorite.

Always a delicious meal

By jonathandD7396NG |

Always a delicious meal, food quality is consistent. Sat outside on the patio and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Never a bad meal.

Great Chuy's location!

By DoubleOIncognito |

This location has a great environment from the time you drive up in the parking lot! The decor inside it great and even though it was crowded when we went, they were prompt in seating and our service was great. The food is always excellent, but my heart always pulls me toward the fajitas, they are literally among the best i've ever eaten anywhere. Will definitely be back to this location because it was an overall great experience.

Does not follow food safety guidelines

By avshockey |

The service was fine. The food was not bad. Not the best nor the worst Mexican food I have had. Chips and salsa were good as was the ranch dip. What got me was the lady making tortillas. She was not wearing gloves as she was rolling the dough, pressing them, or cooking them. She used her bare hands. At one point, she used a towel to wipe her station down and immediately went back to rolling the dough. No washing her hands after touching the dirty towel. I also saw a server take cooked tortillas off the stack and place them in a basket with her bare hands. This is all done in full view on the restaurant floor. Not sure what worse things are happening in the kitchen.

Unfair tipping

By Hanna G |

My husband and I invited a family friend, and his son plus my parents and the kids to get some lunch on New Year's Eve. After being seated, a sweet young girl approached us with the biggest smile to take our drink order, she had taken care of us before so I was very happy to have her again, i didn't catch her name but, she did such a great job overall! A++ Even with, (I assume the man with her was her trainer),standing over her like a hawk.. While kindly refilling our drinks I asked her if she had any plans for today (just out of curiosity to start a short conversation), she informed me it was her birthday!! Now I don't really understand the whole restaurant business, but I do know one thing, when a waitress Is working on her birthday and she is given a tip in her hand and directly specified its for her and told happy birthday while handing it to her, it is not supposed to be taken away from her! I saw her standing in front of her trainer by the computer getting our check ready, when I saw the man stop her from putting the money in her apron, i didn't hear what was said, I just remembered her handing it over, bringing us our check with a smile on her face and getting back to work. Now if that were me, I'd be outraged! I was outraged for her, just because it was my little old step father giving a young working waitress on her birthday a tip and being taken away by someone else! We tip to the person we think deserves it! And it shouldn't be any other way! I returned with my son to pick up some food the other day, I had completely forgotten what happen but my son (out of no where) asked for" the pretty girl with the long brown and yellow hair" We were then informed by a waiter, she no longer worked there. Food is amazing!!! Don't get me wrong but I'm still upset over what I saw.

First visit at this location.

By Paul J |

First time visiting this location of Chuys. I’ve eaten at several around the state. Waitress was friendly and prompt. I ordered the stuffed avocado and my coworker had beef enchiladas. Food was hot when it came out. The avocado was tasty. Definitely a great place to eat.

Great food!

By travelinjojo |

We really enjoyed Chuy's-food was great. Good margaritas too. We had a party of 8 and the wait was not bad at all.

Great Food, Fun Atmosphere

By Jackie F |

I've eaten at the original Chuy's on Barton Springs Rd. in Austin and can honestly say the food at this S.A. location on IH-10 is just as good. Love their veggie enchiladas and the creamy jalapeno dip is tasty. Little awkward to get to but it's definitely worth it. Always look at their T-shirts, sometimes the have very clever ones and sometimes not but it all adds to the experience.

Really Good Food and Service

By Timothy A |

My family and I ate at Chuy's in San Antonio after a friend of mine recommended it. We had a great experience. The food was extremely good and the service was superb as well. The restaurant has a neat atmosphere that provides a great overall dining experience. We were happy to find out that Chuy's is a chain restaurant so we can go there when we travel around the country.

My favorite Tex-New Mex restaurant

By ElleKitty13 |

My husband and I go to Chuy's about once a week for dinner after a long week. The salsa Fresca is my absolute favorite! I judge all salsa by how much it reminds me of Chuy's. Beware, the Serrano peppers can make it a little too hot sometimes. The main menu is filled with tasty goodness also. I tend to stick with the burritos. The green chile rice is another favorite of mine, although their standard rice is also very good. Close dinner out with a small order of sopapillas and this is one happy girl. Once a year they celebrate the new harvest of hatch green chile's in New Mexico with their Green Chile Festival. Limited time menu offerings are available, and while I haven't loved all of them every time they are absolutely worth trying. The best of them often make the cut to the main menu. The decor is fantastic. Each room has a different feel. Elvis, hubcaps, wooden fish, tall metal palm trees and pictures of pets are prevalent at the several locations I have been to. If you've seen one Chuy's, you've seen one Chuy's! Highly recommended.

Don't eat too many chips!!!

By vp7 |

Great food, extra large portions! Didn't see anyone walking out without a left over bag. Be careful on eating too many of their complimentary chips and dips at the beginning of your meal, as these fill you up! It was great to see wait staff constantly attending to the tables, filling up drinks and topping up the baskets of corn chips. Had to wait about 45minutes to be seated, and saw others being seated out of turn. Would be nice if they had a more effective seating arrangement.

Great food. Fun place to eat.

By JerilynHummel |

Really good food. You can't leave hungry! Robert was a great waiter. Fun atmosphere. There's a wooden bridge to cross from the parking area to the front.

Fun atmosphere for Happy Hour

By Donna S |

This is a lively environment for a late afternoon/early evening Happy Hour. Good margaritas (not the strongest in the area but tasty). Have a free chips and salsa bar. The chips are light, fresh and usually warm. Salsa is mild but can ask for hot sauce to spice up. Good appetizer menu and full lunch/dinner menu. They make their guacamole fresh but I like it chunkier with more spice. Wait staff is friendly and available, even though the place gets packed.

Great service

By Cynthia G |

We visited this restaurant on our way home and it was the perfect way to leave San Antonio. The food was delicious and the athmosphere was perfect. Will definitely stop by again!

Amazing food & Great service!

By The Traveling Hockey Mom |

Ate here for the first time and I will say that the food was very good! The chips and tortillas are made right in the restaurant and you can even watch them being made. Our server was awesome and recommended the sauces we should try on our dinners. The complimentary chips and salsa were warm and fresh. My kids both got off the kids menu, my husband got the famous burrito and I got a mini version. We were all pleased with our food. Our bill was only $28.00, which was awesome as well! We will definitely be back!

Good food and service

By Sarah_Nike |

We went here for lunch during the week and we were seated right away. Our server was very attentive. As soon as she heard it was my first time there, she brought me a sample plate with tortillas of their salsas and quesos, and they were all good. I got a chicken salad and I couldn't even finish it. It was so good, and big. My boyfriend got their steak burrito and it was good too. I will definitely go back again.

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent company

By Ray S |

My wife and I chose this location yesterday to meet three of our grandchildren and the girlfriend of one of our grandsons for lunch, before attending a movie at nearby Northwoods Theater(we saw “Knives Out”, excellent, suspenseful movie). Anyway, we arrived about thirty minutes before our guests; we were seated at a booth for six with no hesitation by the hostess. Our server soon arrived and quickly returned with our drink orders. When everyone was there my wife and I shared an order of Chicken Panchos...delicioso. The service was excellent and the food was fabulous, not to mention the company was the best we could ever have.

Our favorite Tex Mex in the whole city

By stefasita |

Chuy’s is our family’s go-to place. The prices are great and the food is delicious. Get the creamy jalapeño dip for the chips. They did recently get rid of the table sauce which is a HUGE disappointment to me because it was my favorite. The queso is delicious though. I’ve never had a bad meal at the Chuy’s on 281. We did however try the location on I-10 and it was not near as good. The flavors were all off. I would not go back to that location.

Hubcaps are up!

By Pinaywife |

I love the decor with hubcaps, so unique. The service was prompt. We all enjoyed our food especially the appetizer plate. We will be coming back for sure.

Great Service from Sarah G. 4/21/16

By TexMex0 |

I recently visited Chuy's on 21April 16 we had a family gathering for about 12 people. We all got there early to enjoy the out side patio. It seem to be the perfect weather to include your waitress Sarah. Sarah went above and beyond she always kept the table clean and full of refills for our drinks and bottomless chips and salsa. Please continue your great service and I hope to see you sooner than later. If you make it for happy hour you can enjoy their great Margarita's to include chips and salsa bar.

average food, great chips

By Julie E |

I like that the chips are very thin and crisp. The salsa was good. The food was nothing special. The wait staff was attentive.

Awesome Tex-Mex !

By Katherine L |

Whenever I arrive in San Antonio, I head directly from the airport to Chuy's Restaurant. The margarita's are cold and satisfying. I love the array of 4 different dipping sauces that comes with chips once you are seated. There's always an abundance of freshly prepared corn and flour tortillas. The menu offers lots of foods ranging from mild to caliente !! Hatch green chili dishes are always offered along with the usual offerings of nachos, burritos, and tacos. Great family restaurant too !!

Happy Hour and Nacho Bar are Great!

By TravelerGirl1989 |

I'm not much of a fan of things on their menu but I take advantage of their happy hour and free nacho bar often! Monday through Friday from 4-7pm they have special prices on their drinks and they offer a free nacho bar served from the back of a replica of a Thunderbird! You can add refried beans, spicy hamburger meat, queso or salsa to your nachos and you can go back to the nacho bar as many times as you want. I also like to ask my waiter to bring out their creamy jalapeno sauce to add to my nachos! The strawberry margaritas are the best I've ever had!

Tex-Mex Food

By IsabelAlbl |

First time visiting this restaurant, the manager overheard it was our first time and brought us samples of all their sauces. The waitress took the time to go over the menu and gave us recommendations. All the food we ordered was delicious! At the end, the manager sent us a tres leches cake thanking us for visiting his restaurant. Thank you Chuy’s for the great experience, for sure we will stop again when visiting San Antonio! Btw we came here because some locals said it was the best place for authentic Tex-Mex food.

Awesome

By Tim P |

I love this location here in San Antonio. The food is always good and fast and the service is the same way. I visit here at least once a year and always go back to the same location because of their food service and atmosphere I just wish there other locations out of state would be like this one I highly recommend you go there with your friends and family to have a good time with good food

Dinner

By D J |

It was on a Friday evening and the food was delicious. It was past happy hour by a few minutes and we still was able to get happy hour. Treated yourself to Chuys and enjoy yourself.

Birthday night out

By tedebear108 |

You came here to celebrate my wifes birthday. The place is a beautiful place to visit in a wonderful place to eat. The staff seam to go out of the way to make sure that you have a wonderful experience. Prices are reasonable and the food is good.

Great food, even better chile

By jman505 |

I am a transplant and originally from New Mexico. Moving to Texas, I did have to adjust to the local cuisine and giving up my green and red chile, (Yes, NM spells it with an "e" not an "i") that is so loved back home. Was recommended to try this place by a friend who told me that they have NM chile on their menu. Skeptical, I decided to try it. My thoughts are any chile is better than NO chile. Decided to try their Wednesday special of Wild Burrito. Though the filling was a little different, the chile was pretty good. Not really authentic, but had great heat and flavor and really hit the spot. A few days later decided to take the whole family and got another burrito, which are quite large btw. This time I asked for them to cover half the burrito in red and the other half in green, which is something we do back in NM. The red chile, again not like home, was good and the green was just as it was the time before. Red did not have too much heat and the flavor was good. Green actually had a good amount of heat and flavor was great! Though I doubt I will ever find Authentic NM food here in SATX, I think that this place will definitely do to trick in curbing some of those cravings.

Chuy's is a winner

By Sharon N |

I love Chuy's although the food is a little on the spicy side :-) I love their beef fajita taco salad with creamy jalapino dressing. You can also ask for the dressing when they bring you chips to the table. Their salsa is fresh and more like a pico...delicious!

Meaghan is amazing

By Englis Setter lovers from Texas |

After a late afternoon Friday flight into town we decided to stop in for an early happy hour. We were lucky enough to sit in Meaghan's section of the bar. She is a ROCKSTAR and by far the best waitress we've ever had when dining at not only this location but any Chuy's location. Attentive, fast, helpful, friendly and intuitive. She worked the room like a butterfly always smiling and offering her expertise. She's seriously a rockstar and could teach others at this location how to do their job.

Excellent food, environment, service and price

By Delmarysol |

They serve a lot of food. The restaraunt is always packed and have a great location. I would definetively recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Go for the atmosphere, but not the food.

By WindyCity2011 |

These chains are indeed decorated very well. Lively & pleasant atmosphere. Very large lunch crowds. However......most of the young people who wait on tables, etc, do not have proper training. They don't get what makes a good wait staff......always seemed rushed & bored. Extensive luncheon menu with typical Mexican dishes, small portions, and minimum imagination. Taco salad was small & the lettuce was watery & so was the dressing on the side.

Love It!!!!

By peggyol |

Best Mexican food. I have not eaten at a bad Chuy's yet. Make sure you ask for the creamy Jalepeno sauce when they bring you the chips and salsa. Always clean and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. They will tell you if what you order is spicy

The best food in San Antonio

By Jim A |

This is the best mexican food in San Antonio. Not on the Riverwalk but worth the drive. The Godfather

Mexican...yeah.. sure

By OhhNoo2150 |

This place sucks, and I thought it'd be just one being a chain restaurant...but everyone of them I've been to has been horrible...the best thing is the nacho bar during happy hour which is free if you're buying drinks. I ordered the flautas, and got them in under 5 minutes...which tells me they were already made and heated up (not very well by the way) The sopapillas were like a thick funnel cackle type deal, which is not bad but it's not a sopapilla... Over priced super commercialized "mexican food"

Just Tex-Mex

By reeltxn |

Very large portions, good prices and service was great. The taste? Not so much. Husband got nachos that were just nachos. I got a combo with chalupa, taco and enchilada. It just wasn't that good. Nothing really horrible but nothing really good either.

Disappointing Lunch

How do you fail at soft, beef taco's? Wilted lettuce, 8 small pieces of tomato, and chunks of cheese rather than grated; plus no flavor in the ground beef only grease that caused the tacos to fall apart. The Chimichanga was drenched in grease at both ends making 2/3's of it uneatable. Used to enjoy Chuy's for lunch even though it is noisy - but food was poor this trip.

Yummy Tex-mex

By LMomG |

Many Mexican restaurant choices in San Antonio. Chuys is a good neighborhood place and great for groups. They have fantastic thin, crisp fresh tortilla chips . Also make fresh tortillas on site. Good variety of menu items and reasonable prices.

Great staff, food

By Frank S |

We regularly visit , when we travel to San Antonio ( 2 x's month. Lisa is particularly an outstanding server. Always a smile, knows our preferences. Once she see's us she gets them moving.

9 of us

By reeltxn |

Nine of us went on a Saturday at noon and were seating within 10 minutes. Our waitress, Jessi, was personable and very professional. We got everything from the appetizer plate, stackable enchiladas, fish tacos, big as my face burrito and more. Not one complaint.

Mexican Food Delight

By Gini S |

We were happy to find Chuy's so near our hotel on our last night of vacation. The special menu was featuring Hatch chili's and I was very happy to try the enchiladas on that menu. They were nothing short of great. The margarita was wonderful. My husband ordered the Elvis special combination plate which he also found almost more than he could eat. One suggestion, while there is a good variety of salsas and sauces, everything I've had at Chuy's has a bit of a kick from peppers. You definitely know they are in the food but it isn't so hot it will burn your mouth. The service was excellent.

Mexican food with a twist

By Cary V |

This is not a traditional Mexican food restaurant. Every thing is unique, my wife loves the Elvis chicken, and the nacho bar is awesome.

Could eat here every day…so GOOD!!

By Bethany S. |

First time at any Chuy’s: Excellent Tex-Mex food & casual atmosphere!! Service was perfect and friendly. Food was amazing…the homemade tortillas really made the difference. But that creamy jalapeño dip and the boom boom sauce…wow!!! Our new favorite when in town!!

Love this place

By Murph |

Chuy's has great Mexican style cuisine in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. There are unique dishes and there is a great incorporation of Hatch green chili from New Mexico. We continue to select this restaurant over local favorites just because we love the food and the chili. Can't go wrong if you love spicy.

Funky, Fun, Good Food and Reasonable Prices

By dukeofhaccp |

This is a cool place. Very eclectic. The service was great and very accommodating on a super busy lunch hour (which is every lunch hour). If you don't want to wait for a table, come early or late.

Great service and good food for a really good price!

By huffyjp2 |

We enjoyed our chicken fajitas dinner for two very much. You get a lot of very tasty food for a very reasonable price. We plan to go back to try their other dishes.

TexMex in a Dream World

By PJF158 |

First-time visitors may have trouble pronouncing the name--it sounds like "Chewy's" to me, but it's well worth the visit. Chuy's started in Austin, Texas, but it has spread well beyond Texas in recent years. The San Antonio location is a fine example of southwestern kitsch--fake palm trees, multi-colored lights, curious pictures on the walls, various patterns of tile on the floor--with fresh tortillas cooked right in the dining room. The menu offers a wide variety at reasonable prices. The service on our visit was excellent--fast, friendly and attentive without fuss. Chuy's is well above fast food and offers a variety of beers and fine margaritas.

Great food Slow service

By Nnwight |

Love the food. Chile rellenos were excellent. The server was friendly, but slower than molasses. Delicious

Cream jalapeño dip? Who knew??

By RenaNay |

Our server Ryan was amazing! We all got chuychangas, they were great. The biggest hit was the creamy jalapeno dip served with fresh salsa and the best chips ever!

Good Dining Experience

By Jay3529 |

Have ate here many times. Always good food and good service. Especially like their chips and salsa I usually get their 9-1-1 plate with Charo beans and Mexican rice. Service has always been good and prices are reasonable.

consistently delivers

By Yanky_au |

This is like any other chain however I give them top props for consistency. Clean, fun decor and atmosphere. Staff are always attentive. Food is just what you think; processed with too much cheese, but there are more fresh things on the menu. If you need a quick fix, you wont go wrong here.

Lots of Good Food

By Ocean_Rover_Blue_Wat |

Incrtedibly authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price. Very good service in a festive Mexican atmosphere.

Last time we stop at any Chuy's

By jkells_13 |

I heard mostly just good reviews so I thought we'd try it out while we were in town. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was nice outside so we wanted to eat outdoors. Unfortunately, they only had two people assigned outside so the service was just lacking. First, it took us 15 minutes to be seated, even though there were empty tables inside and out. The waiter did an ok job keeping his tables happy but that doesn't go the same for the cooks. Their queso dip tastes like knock off Rotel and Velvita. I can make that at home for way less than $7. Their chips are thin and greasy. I don't know what they think enchiladas are but what they presented were awful. There was no flavor and the texture was just way off, mushy and greasy, just bad. The chimichanga (sp?) was also lacking in flavor and for $13 I've gotten much bigger portions at other places. Their drinks are expensive and weak as well so order a beer or wait for happy hour. In the end, this place was just bland and terrible, we'll never be going to a Chuy's again.

AMAZING FOOD

By Debbie C |

Love the food, atmosphere, staff, come here every time when visiting from St. Louis MO. Make sure to ask for the cheese dip for your chips

Nice Mexican Cantina

By David B |

Local watering hole and meeting place with inside and outside seating. The place was packed when I visited on an early Thursday evening. The service was fine and the food quality was good.

Chuy's so Good

By Katherine L |

I love their Texastini. Best margarita in S. A. Try the comida deluxe combo for a wonderful sampling of Tex-Mex. Be sure to ask for the creamy jalapeño dip to go with your chips. Corn & flour tortilla are made in house and are yummy! Enjoy!

Awesome flavor

By Federico J |

We had a table of 6 and we all agreed at the end of our lunch that we made a great choice for lunch. Chips and salsa were very tasty.

Great Tex-Mex

By Gerald D |

We rather enjoyed dinner there. We were a party of 8 and had no trouble getting a table. Our server Mackenzie was pleasant and efficient. She really does have it down to a science keeping the orders straight and making everybody happy. Food was really quite good and very reasonable. Next time I am back in Texas I'll be back there. Oh yes the ritas were very good.

Great experience

By Cosmopolitan141114 |

The best food and service I've had in a long time! Everything was fresh and delicious. The best chips and salsa I've had in San Antonio.

Free nachos

By IfAndyCantHelpYou |

I came for the free nachos, my friend who lives in San Antonio told me about this place and that during happy hour they have a nacho bar with free nachos, I car and spent $30 on 4 margaritas and left full with a stomach of nachos such a great deal

Next.....

By Ms_Chelsey |

Stopped in on a Sunday to watch the Spurs game and grab food. We stood at the hostess stand for 5 minutes before anyone bothered coming over to seat us. The restaurant was not busy at all. Then we waited 10 minutes as waiters and waitresses passed by our table or were standing within 10 feet of our table chatting, goofing off, and watching the game. No one ever asked us if we wanted drinks, no one greeted us to take our order. So we left. Not even the hostess who watched us walk back out said anything. So disappointing. This was once a place I enjoyed coming to. Taking our business elsewhere.

Chus-ing Again

By Erin M |

Drinking in the festive bar strength with string fills of kooky painted wooden fish is my idea of a fun girls night out. Between the semi-puffed retro sparkly chairs, unlimited get-your-own chips and salsa refills, and stout margaritas, I'm set for an hour or two of good laughs and, maybe, a groan or few. Don't get me wrong, I like eating at Chuy's, too. I've just found that it's a better fit for my occasional get togethers that are less about dining and more about conversation and a carefree atmosphere. The bar area serves this function well. It's a low pressure area, seats are usually available immediately, and you can order off the menu if you want to. I like the salads and tacos, when I do eat. This last time, my friend and I sat back and relaxed. We enjoyed each other's company. When we felt ready to move on, we asked for the check and wrapped it up quick. I'm looking forward to our next meet up, and I'm sure we'll say, "Hey, what about Chuy's?"

Much/Mex Obliged

By Jim and Teri B |

When in Texas, you're required to eat BBQ or Mexican, well, maybe not required. But, if you don't, why did you visit Texas? If you do require yourself, you'll enjoy Chuy's. The atmosphere is interestingly busy, the food delicious, and the service pleasant. The salsa they serve pre-dinner is lovely, and the spicier one is perfect if you like a little heat, but not too much. We also had the avocado dip appetizer, and wow! It was delectable! I'm a fish or shrimp taco person, and Chuy's shrimp tacos are good. I prefer more sauce, but the taste was enjoyable. Our waiter was kind and not around too much, just enough to let us feel taken care of. I just found out we have a Chuy's in the Charlotte area where my wife and I live, and we can't wait to visit there. It's a neat place, and we'd recommend it when you feel obligated to eat like you're in Texas.

Awesome food, amazing service

By nonni0321 |

Three of us dined I pat Chuys to celebrate our combined birthdays. The service was outstanding, with Kylie going above and beyond our expectations as a server. The Hatch green chiles on our food reminded us of home and true Mexican food. The atmosphere is fun and quirky, with each dining room having a different theme. We did not feel rushed to eat and go, so had a leisurely meal and visit. At the end of our meal, we were pleasantly surprised to get hot sopapillas and honey " on the house" to acknowledge our birthday celebration....my new, favorite Mexican restaurant in a city well known for Mexican cuisine.

Good Mexican Food

By shenal l |

First time here with the family. It was really busy on a Saturday night. Our waiter was ok. My only thing was he brought me my sweet tea in a to go cup, during dinner might I add, because it's the only thing they had. REALLY!?!? Food was good and a good time had by all. The kids really liked to see the tortillas being made.

Are you hungry?

By Giovanni D |

Chuys is one of the best Mexican restaurant in San Antonio for its price range. The food is really nice and flavoursome and, contrary to many other places I have been to, it offers a balance between the food quality and the quality of the experience: it's not unnecessarily stylish, yet it has an authentic atmosphere. So is the food: nice but not over the top, aka street food rules!

Best for Green Chile in SA (so far)

By Maureen P |

Have been looking for real green chile, but everywhere else in SA we've tried has been tomatillo. Chips & salsa fresh. Although it made me think of Pico de Gallo more than salsa, the salsa was very tasty. Waitress brought out the green chile, hatch green chile, and jalapeño sauces for us to sample. The jalapeño sauce was more ranch. The green chile sauces were both good, but we favored the creamy green chile over the hatch green chile (the hatch was more like a hearty beef and vegetable stew with green chiles and no actual beef). Mixing both green chile sauces together is very good. I got a large bowl of tortilla soup, which turned out to be enormous. Good flavor, but I'm a simple eater and wished it didn't have so much going on (in addition to the chicken, cheese, avocado, & tortilla strips - there was corn, tomatoes, green chiles, and tomatillos). Pulled out bone from chicken. BF got #2, the Elvis plate, which had 3 different enchiladas. Chicken enchilada had true tomatillo sauce, which he drowned out with the green chile sauces we had from our sample. Pulled a piece of bone out of the chicken. Sauce on cheese and beef enchiladas was similar to mole, but less sweet, so he enjoyed those more (not a fan of mole). Will be coming back to try other menu items when craving green chile because this is the closest thing we've had to New Mexico chile... But if there were another place that didn't try to make their green chile so unique and just had basic/more unadulterated green chile, we'd favor that.

Great as usual

By Charles V |

What a concept the consistency form property to property is great the food is always excellent and the Margaritas a kind of like their own food group. The sampler plater is a meal for two or lights for 4-6. Great job

Good food.

By botanicalsa |

We like Chuy's food. A lot. Like their decor. It a fun place. But there is a problem with nothing to buffer the loud noise level. It makes conversations difficult.

I LOVE CHUY'S

By Merranda M |

I have been to several Chuy locations and I absolutely love them! At this location my husband had the fish and shrimp tacos which he loved and my daughter and I shared the chicken enchilada plate. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere is great...plus the creamy jalapeno sauce is out of this world YUMMY!

Good nachos, no lard used in food!

By monica_k840 |

The whole menu appealed, but I wasn't that hungry. The nachos are made with thick corn tortillas, cut into quarters before frying. The nachos are generously slathered with delicious refried beans and topped with yellow cheese (? Cheddar?) The additional toppings included come on the side: guacamole, sour cream, sliced pickled jalapeños, lots of different salsas that are complimentary to the table. All the food looked delicious. The creamy jalapeño salsa is addictive.

Amazing chips and sauce, poor fajitas

By mc5117 |

Went here last night and the experience was disappointing. The chips they brought to the table were amazing however...wafer thin with great dips to enjoy - these things are highly addictive! Very disappointed by my beef & chicken fajita combo. For me fajitas should come to the table 'sizzling' on that hot skillet....mine were flat, dead and on top of that like warm. We were in a bit of a rush so I didn't send them back. It wasn't helped by the fact that the protein came to the tab,e first and then I had to wait a few minutes for the tortilla rolls to arrive - could it not have been organized iced a little more!? I've heard great things about this place so it's a shame, but I didn't experience this on this occasion.

Excellent Dinner

By Mohsman |

My family of four and I had an excellent Saturday night dinner. The queso dip was great. My wife and son thought their respective cheese enchiladas and chalupas were among the best they have had. My beef fajitas was very good. Service and food arrival were excellent. All of us would return for dinner.

Looking forward to next trip to SA

By dansin |

Met friends who are in the process of moving from AZ to San Antonio. Their recommendation and it was a great one. Huge portions, excellent flavor, best tortilla chips that I've ever had across three western states (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona). Made fresh right there all throughout the meal. Service was good, and the outdoor seating looked inviting but not in the midday sun. We'll be back and bring the rest of the family.

Our son was told about this restaurant so we went with him while visiting. The food was delicious and service great. Jennifer served us. She was great.

Fun

By Kaybirdduncan |

We went to Chuy’s after a weight lifting meet at Texas Strength Systems. The athletes were tired and needed to refuel. We had fun. We only had one hiccup, one young man is allergic to tomatoes and avocados and not eating meat. It took a while, but a bunch of people put their heads together and made him something from scratch and not a pre made mix. Shane our waiter did a great job asking kitchen staff to come out and discuss the food allergies.

5 star food 4 star service

By Irod87 |

I really enjoyed my meal. Best I have had this trip. My only complaint was the excessive wait time for tortillas. My food was delivered and sat for about 5 minutes or more before I got the tortillas I had to ask for. Same story when I ran out. Food was great and will eat Chueys again.

Outrageously good

By Jeff B |

Only in town for 5 days so I was on the hunt for great Mexican food. Unfortunately home (WA state) doesn't understand what good Mexican food means and it's been years since I've had anything worthy.. found reviews on Chuy's on TripAdvisor and took a shot at it, and so glad I did! My server Freddie was super-friendly, and in a genuine sort of way. I order the #2 combination, the Elvis Presley plate, which consisted of 3 enchiladas, a hard taco, rice, beans, and a tostada dipped in queso - it was incredible! Every bit of this plate is flavorful.. the chips and salsa, as well as the free salsa bar, were great as well. All this for $11.45. Truly a memorable meal and I will return daily until the sad day I need to board that plane.

Hot chika chika boom boom

Their signature plate is spicy but very good. Rice has green Chiles. Also try the Chile relleno. Place is decorated eclectic with old paintings, hub caps and colored lights.

Happy Hour Gathering

By L H |

A group met here for Happy Hour during the week and this location is on access road of 281 just south of Loop 1604 in the Northwoods Shopping Center. Parking was easy right in front and seating available inside in two areas as well as outside patio seating. Happy Hour pricing on beer and drinks. Wine was $1 off a glass and $3 off a bottle. The glass pricing was around $7 and a good pour. The margaritas in a stemmed goblet. The two sided plastic menu had a decent selection of menu items. Our waiter, Matthew, was attentive kept the salsa and chips replenished well. The cream sauce with the chips was very tasty and the salsa had a good "kick" to it. Everyone ordered something different and all seemed pleased with the meals. Our order was Grilled Chicken Taco Salad which was a good serving and fresh ingredients for $10.69. We also got the Crispy Taco Plate at $9.99 and the tacos were filled generously. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir and with discount it was $18. The place started getting more crowded around 6 o'clock and got a bit noisier. Chuy's used to have a nacho bar which we enjoyed at another location but presently at least, this is not offered anymore. Masks were not required.

Very Good

By soonerinjapan |

This was my first visit to Chuy's. It will not be my last. The food was outstanding. The service was great. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. I recommend the mucho burrito. It is huge and delicious.

10,000 People Can't Be Wrong

By Norman W |

I have to admit it - I haven't been to Chuy's since the Austin location called 911 on the Bush girls ( sorry - I just had to add that ! ). I was in San Antonio for business, stayed at a hotel nearby, and Chuy's was the best rated restaurant in the area. Even I can hold a grudge for just so long, especially when it involves Tex-Mex. The parking lot was full, the restaurant packed wall to wall, with a 45 minute wait, so somebody ( or a lot of somebodies) knew a lot more than me. The food was great ( enchilada with a Hatch chili sauce ). the drink menu unique, and the service friendly. Hopefully, it won't be two elections until I'm back.

Some of the Best Texmex for a Chain you'll get

By Don H |

The waiter was over accommodating for a couple tired from tubing and shopping. What an experience. They make their own tortillas which I love and their salsa is awesome. I just really enjoyed the whole meal and am glad that Kansas City has one on the plaza. They have a bunch of different dips to try step out of your comfort zone.

Nice Restaurant with excellent service

By TravelingFriends2015 |

Our dining group went for Happy Hour. Their chips and salsa choices were very good. We all ordered drinks then went to the free HAPPY HOUR cart. One trip there, and I was too full to order off the menu. Others did, however, and I heard no complaints. So I had free dinner and only ordered 1 Margarita so felt a bit guilty. I wouldn't have minded if they charged a small amount for the HH cart.

Wild burrito!!

Third time at chuy's and have never been disappointed. Looks like everytime I bring my wife to San Antonio, Chuy's is the place for us

The best Tex Mex restaurant you will ever find

By tattoolady1 |

Every time we eat at Chuy`s we know we are going to get consistently good food. The service is excellent, the seating is fast & the servings are always hot & cooked to perfection. I would go there once a week if possible, i have been a loyal Chuy`s fan since i ate at the Mother restaurant in Austin on Barton Springs road. The decor is very eclectic & campy which makes it even more of an adventure to eat at. While there, don`t pass up the chip Car, full of refills of chips, queso, meat & salsa, If you have never been & are a Tex Mex lover like i am, don`t pass one up the next time you drive by....if you can find a parking spot!!

Great food!

By Lynedon V |

I've been to various Mexican restaurants throughout North East San Antonio. I've tried a lot of Mexican restaurants since I moved here six months ago. Chuy's so far has the best food. The tortillas are made right in front of you, so there is a good chance that the tortillas you get at your table were just cooked. The location is convenient and there's plenty of parking. The only problem that I see would be if you were to arrive at dinner time on a Friday or Saturday night. The restaurant is very popular, and there are waiting times of about 15 to 45 minutes. Sometimes the wait line is more than hour! However, the wait is well worth it! The food is great! There is outdoor seating. There's also five locations throughout San Antonio. I've only been to two of them, and I like this one the best! The enchiladas and chili relleno's are really good!

NO🥵

Great Tex Mex

By chefjeff60 |

Stopped in for lunch this place has a good vibe. They were making fresh tortillas and the chips we received with the tasty salsa were fresh made. I ordered a big combo the Elvis I think. it came with all my favorites. I liked it so much I really want to go back and try some more items off the menu. Anyway great food with a nice atmosphere.

Just as good as I thought

By ronk2345 |

Tried the San Antonio Chuy's, just as good as the one back home. Great atmosphere, food is excellent and the margaritas we're awesome! One of my favorite all time restaurants ever!

Me Giusto Mucho!

By Jesse J |

What can I say--the endless chips and smoky salsa matched with the top shelf margarita was a meal in itself but I am glad I saved room for the fajitas--the meat was marinated perfectly and the matching to the hand-made tortillas was simply sublime--great meal at an affordable price--Chuy's is now a must visit when I travel to SA!

Greasy but Good!

By bcdicks |

I was taken here by a couple of locals who frequent Chuy's for lunch, and now I know why! The salsa especially was wonderful. While the meat was a lot greasier than I'd expect for a Mexican place, I still enjoyed everything.

Ahhhh....you'll LOVE this place!

By Michelle S |

The food is fabulous!! They have a white jalepeno sauce that is brought out with the salsa and chips! (you may have to ask for it!) I have yet to hear ANYONE who doesn't like it!! Try the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!! A little spicy...but THE BEST!

Best chips, hands down

Our Drama Mamas come to the Broadway plays at The Majestic and we stay near Chuy's so it is perfect for after show margarita and tacos.

First Time at Chuy's and will return

By kmrekow |

Was in San Antonio for 4 days with my daughter and 4 year old grandson. We stopped at Chuy's for dinner as it was close to our hotel. Never heard of it before and glad we stopped. Great Atmosphere for outside dining, Good Food and Good Cocktails. Will definitely go back next time I am in San Antonio.

Good food but very low service

By MycornerofTexas |

We arrived shortly after 2:00p for a late lunch, there were not very many diners, and decided to sit in the room off the bar. Our waiter arrived to take our drink order and he returned with them and some chips a while later. Before we could place our lunch order, as we were ready, he left to check another table. It took him a while to return for our lunch order. This long gap between drinks - ordering - food arriving and keeping the chip basket filled continued through out our entire stay. Got a bit annoyed because I wanted another drink and never got an opportunity to order one. Other staffers finally came by to give us chips. The food (burrito, flautas, and enchilada plate) as usual was very good but the slow service took away from our visit.

Great Texmex

By Ft_Myers_Fl_BigBill |

I went to the restaurant on 281 just south of 1604.. My in-laws live in San Antonio and when they want Mexican this is where they go. Food is always fresh, the specials are great the chips and salsa are the best . The service was fantastic and the restaurant is clean. The silverware comes individually bagged . These people know the restaurant business . The prices are fair. Try it if you don't like it eat Chinese .

Great Mexican Food, Always!

By Ghpenn |

We had a family reunion today at Chuy’s! Food has always been good there. I had the fajita plate which was very tasty. Wifey had enchiladas with chicken. Service was very good. Didn’t get the flan this time but it’s alway super yummy at other visits. I highly recommend Chuys for great Mexican food

No better or worse, but very noisy

By Phil S |

We tried Chuy's because we often drive by their IH-10 West location in San Antonio, but had never eaten there before. My average rating for the food is a slight stretch. I've had better (and cheaper) enchiladas elsewhere in S.A. This is primarily a teen- and family- oriented location due to the high noise level. The floors are bare, so noise is reflected. The noise from everyone chattering is exacerbated by the constant music from the PA system. So it's popularity derives from the family-oriented setup. If that's what you want, then enjoy. But if you are looking for a quiet place where you can talk in low tones, go somewhere else. Prices were a bit high for S.A. Service was very good. There is a porch with tables for outdoor seating; it was surrounded with plastic sides for the season. The view from there is of the parking lot and a bit of the interstate highway.

Delicious!

By runjennrun83 |

My husband and I shared the fajitas for 2. There was plenty of food and it was good - everything tasted fresh and truly delicious. Chips were also very yummy. Our server was great, attentive but not smothering and very nice. Funny t-shirts :). Great dinner!

Good food but poor service

My husband and I like their Enchiladas and Chili Relleno - the food we always order for meals . But their servers are not not good enough to serve their customers.

We love Chuy's!

By Scott S |

First stop in San Antonio and Chuy's didn't disappoint. Great chips and salsa got us started, followed by delicious enchiladas and fajitas. The service was friendly and excellent and we got great seating out on the patio. The whole experience was awesome

Great food and Fabulous Service

By MaryBrentMarks |

We went to Chuy's for lunch and a margarita. The young hostess went to great pains to get us a booth!! We ate panchos -- super sized nachos! -- and they were delicious!! Although this restaurant is always packed, it is worth the wait. Margaritas are cheap and 😋 tasty!

Hatch tacos are HOT!

By Steve S |

Always friendly and fast service! Fresh salsa and chips are great. The big as your head burrito is great and the gravy is outstanding and my son loves them. I tried thee hatch chili taco from the seasonal menu. The waiter warned me that it was hot but whoa!!!! They are scorching. Delicious but be prepared if you dare. We love this place and can't wait to go back!

Awesome Tex-Mex

By Chris D |

A must visit if you are in the area! Their flour tortillas are 12” and homemade. The selection of food is great. The service is fantastic and the atmosphere is fun. Try the Steak Burrito that has sliced grilled steak & cheese topped with Hatch Green Chili sauce. Served with Green Chile rice & charro beans.

A fun place to go!

By Amy9992 |

I know this is a chain, but I had never been so it was a pleasant surprise. Atmosphere was really festive with palm trees, lit up like the Corona Christmas tree throughout the restaurant and very colorful furniture. Chips, salsa and jalapeño ranch dip were super and seemed homemade fresh. The margarita was made with fresh juice and the service was great! All the entrees were great, everyone really enjoyed the experience. Will definitely go to the one in Charlotte next!

Great and fresh as usual

By Brian B |

Been eating at Chuy's for more than 25 years and I believe their food is better than ever. I judge all Mexican restaurants by their chile relleno and cheese enchiladas, and they get high marks on both. We came for lunch and my rellenos were so hot they had to cool for several minutes. The peppers were very fresh and cooked just right so they were not fried to death either making for maximum flavor. Service was slow, as we watched our waiter chat a long time at the bar while waiting for 1 drink and 1 beer. We brought home a lot of leftovers. The Hatch chile sauce is my favorite. Lots of peppers in it.

Tender & succulent

By Cbm364 |

My boss and I stopped for a late night bite. We had the fajitas and I must say it was the most tender and best marinated meat we've had since being here. A must if you have the opportunity.

Bueno Tex Mex!

By Sheri V |

Chuy's is a great Tex Mex restaurant because it has great salsa, great margaritas and great enchiladas. The restaurant started in Austin by Barton Springs and now they have restaurants all over Texas and the US. When you walk in the door, you can see the tortillas being made fresh. Go early or be prepared to wait because this is a popular restaurant. If you do have to wait, you can order drinks from the bar and they have a chip and salsa bar. They also have a big patio if you like to sit outside. The burritos are always good and so are their fajitas. They also have combo plates like the Elvis Presley Memorial combo. If you want to eat light, try the Tortilla Soup or the Mexi-Cobb salad with cilantro vinaigrette.

Great service

By Peter A |

Excellent food and friendly service! The wait was under 15 minutes and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. They made one small mistake, but it was in my favor.

great taste and reasonable priced

By SandiE147 |

The food here is very tasty and you get a tremendous amount of food for a reasonable price. They have an assortment of salsas and unlimited tortilla chips which are delicious. They have wonderful alcohol drink selections. I first went here with co-workers and then took my family and now my daughter who lives in San Antonio and her friends frequently go for dinner and drinks. This place can't be beat.

Had the best waiter ever- Jay!! He anticipated requests and needs , added humor, listened and acted with enthusiasm…and food was good! I’ve had many fine dining experiences with better food maybe but never better service!

Delicious

José, our waiter was fabulous. Quick, answered all of our questions, very polite too. We ordered a combo plate called the Elvis. Food was very good. Very clean restaurant.

Fun place, good Mexican eats...

By Debbie O |

Love going to Chuy's, fun atmosphere, good service and great food. I went towards a healthier meal this visit and tried the lightly fried fish tacos and they were so good - you can also have the fish grilled to be even healthier which is what my colleague ordered and we both ate our entire meal including the crispy chips with salsa. Nice and cold swirl margarita rounded out the meal, so much for being healthy. It was worth it! YUM!

Food is great

The food is great. However the our waiter tonight left something to be desired not once did he ever introduce himself and he just seemed rushed and put out. If we did not love the food we would find another mexican restaurant to go to.

Pretty good

Got the Elvis combo, huge amount of food. Of the three enchiladas I enjoyed the cheese and onion the most. All three types were good. As noted by others, the place is noisy. Our booth had a seat that would not stay in place.

Still our favorite

This was our favorite Mexican restaurant when we lived here many years ago. It is still #1 as far as we are concerned. It’s all good!

Favorite Tex Mex in San Antonio

A favorite stop whenever we are in San Antonio...tasty margaritas and the steak burrito is a must have! house made chips and tortillas are great as well but the guacamole is the BEST!

Good food. Good service

The location by the forum has good food and usually has good service. Sometimes the wait time to be seated is a little long though.

Nice Place for Lunch

By Robert C |

Went for lunch with friends. We had Fajitas for two and selected the combo of beef and chicken. The meal was excellent! Had fajitas at many, many restaurants in the past and these rank right up at the top for taste! The service was a bit slow but we were in the lunch crowd!

Great Food for a amazing price. You wont leave hungry.

I was very surprised at the large portions that were served. The food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable. Even the drink prices were very good, $5.50 for a regular margarita.

Eclectic Tex-Mex

I'll do the ad: If you've seen one Chuy's, you've seen one Chuy's. Decor is different at each restaurant, but can't ever remember being disappointed by the food. From the prickly pear margarita's, to great enchiladas, to the Elvis special, and hatch chile month; Chuy's delivers delicious Mexican food. This location is busy for dinner and weekend lunch. Easy to get a table for business lunch. Not pricey, great flavors. T-shirts are funny and funky. You can sneak in the take-out door in back instead of walking around the restaurant.

Horrible place

By D2800PZdeniser |

This was our first visit here and we will never come back here again. It took almost 1 1/2 hours to get our food. We had a hard time getting the waitress attention. When we finally got our food only half the table got it and 20 mins later the rest of us got our food. The food was cold when we finally got it. Worst food and service ever.

the tortilla chips are outstanding!

By socalgalx4 |

There are several reasons why my husband and I go to Chuy's. 1. The tortilla chips are soooo good! crispy, thin, and just enough salt. So perfect with the salsa and pico. I tend to get the vegetarian meals and there is enough variety to satisfy the vegetarian in me. Try the vegetarian chile relleno....crispy, flavorful, and ooey gooey cheese. If you prefer Tecate beer, note that these are small cans, and iced glasses are not always presented with the Tecate. Don't understand that. The servers are very respectful, helpful, and deliver food accurately and with grace. Yeah, I know it's a chain...but I still like it a lot!

Our go to Mexican

By stefasita |

In a city of fabulous Mexican food, this is our go to place. The food and drinks are consistently delicious. The staff is always wonderful. It's just great food at a great price. Not sure we've ever left disappointed and we eat there at least one a month.
