Perhaps an “Off Night”

By Steve B |

We decided to eat here “on the spur of the moment” and I don’t think I’ll be back. I ordered the eggplant main course and a side of meat balls and neither was any good. I think of myself as an eggplant “expert” because I order it often and my wife makes an excellent dish at home - but this version was very “soupy” and somewhat tasteless - so I was very disappointed. The meatballs were extremely large, very hard and also, not very tasty. It simply wasn’t a pleasant dining experience - but, perhaps it was an “off night”.

Disappointing!

By toomuchstuff4010 |

Three of us had dinner there Saturday. I was greatly disappointed in the food quality - first, the olive oil served with the bread was rancid. You would think an Italian restaurant would be on top of that. Second, the pumpkin soup was completely tasteless. I expected a creamy soup but it was more of a broth. Unfortunately it tasted like hot water. Were there no spices or are they watering down the soup to stretch the batch???? Instead of the soup, I ordered meatballs and the same question popped in my mind: are they not seasoning their food with oregano or any other Italian type spices. Major bummer. Don't recommend going there.

3 for 3 at Cibo e Beve

By Leigh R |

Just visited Cibo e Beve for my third lunch time rendezvous. Each time has been in a different season - Winter, Spring and Summer and each time has been a delight. The chef incorporates whatever produce and ingredients are fresh and new into the menu. Baby lettuces, fresh figs, cherries and Italian cheeses are among the most memorable ingredients to dance upon my tongue there. Each visit we have met a different cast of servers, so I am not sure what this means, but the service has always been great. I need to try again for dinner some day, but for a break from the usual lunch time rut, I recommend a mini vacation to Italy and suggest that you make room for the wonderful desserts!

Probably a new regular for us

By Kerwin Gray |

Went here for the first time Friday night. I am not a big fan of food 101, so I was a little skeptical, but we were both very pleased. Service was good. Portions were large and prices were reasonably. We had calamari which was enough for four, but we ate it all. For entres, we had veal parmigiana and chicken piccata; both surprisingly good. With two drinks, tax, tag and title, right at $100. Fair enough. We live two miles away, so convenience could be influencing me a bit.

Great Italian Cuisine

By Rjswarts |

We heard about this place from a local show called Atlanta Eats & decided to check it out. It wasn't too difficult to get a reservation which was good, you need a reservation the place was full. Plenty of parking which is also good. The food was fantastic, explains why it was full. I recommend this restaurant & will definately be back.

Cibo ehhhhhhh

By lclarknj1 |

Started off poorly. We waited by the door or over 5 minutes for our table to be set up. Places wasn't even crowded at the time, Service was hit or miss throughout the meal. Server was very nice, but absent when we needed her. Took forever to get our first drink. Food was either GREAT or just ok, throughout the meal. They do not seem to understand the idea of seasoning throughout the prep of the meal. After dinner drink at the bar lost them more points, as the staff seemed far more intererested in celebrating each other ( some seemed to be couples, someome seemed to be having a birthday) than they were in the customers. Might try it again, but there are SOOOOOO many great places in Atlanta, might not, and would not miss it if we never went back.

Great rediscovery

By HCarol_12 |

Ducked in here after fighting BUCKHEAD traffic and found a warm atmosphere, friendly service and excellent food. Did not have a reservation but got two seats at the pizza bar in the back and were next to the giant pizza oven but not too toasty and the flames were pleasant. Shared an arugula and roasted beet salad, charred Brussels flavored with bacon and the glutin-free lasagna. We will definitely keep this spot on our list. Even with the special punch of the night, a glass of rosso and a craft beer, the bill was 66, which seemed reasonable.

An Italian Gem

By Nick K |

First of all let me tell you this, place is amazing. My wife and I visited this gem as a suggestion as the best Italian places located in Buckhead ,Atlanta. It all started with a greeting at the door which was surprising in itself. The ambiance of the venue did not disappoint. We both had meals that were hearty and full of flavor Mitch was a great host very friendly, knowledgable, and made your feel like family. Not only that ,Mitch make some fantastic drinks. I recommend you see him. Gianni Betti ensured we were very comfortable and had everything we needed. Our experience is one that will have us coming back many times again. Cibo E Beve the place to be

Itialian lite

By Lawrence G |

Service staff poor. Food was good not memorable. Have had better. Not welcoming to customers. Should bring your own bread if you are a Party of 5 with only 4 slices. You have to grab quick. After doing the math for them they finally got it right

Decent

By CRLsrating |

The service and food were good. We were the only people dining during lunch until a large party arrived. The portion sizes were suitable for lunch but not quite at lunch prices. Is definitely a place to return to for lunch.

Don't miss the brussels!

By Cathy S |

After researching area restaurants for a meal before a Chastain concert, we chose Cibo E Beve. We were not disappointed. The brussels are outstanding. Pizzas are fabulous as well is the tortellini. We will back!

Take out was not edible

By rlindsaythompson |

I ordered take via Uber. The entree was not edible. I expressed by dissatisfaction with Uber and the restaurant. Linda partial owner stated she believes me because the cook at the pasta station has been struggling all day. At this point, the restaurant has not refunded my money. With Covid how do you allow a cook you is struggling continue to prepare food. Do you not care was my thought!

Plainly Average

By etonea |

It's never a good thing to order food, taste it, and every time say "not bad but this dish is better at restaurant X". That, unfortunately, was my experience with Cibo E Beve. The only standout (and exception) to the above for me was the Caprese salad, probably a result of the eggplant, which hasn't ever been included at any other place I've ordered it. We dined on the brussel sprouts, Caprese salad, pasta carbonara, il Diavolo pizza, and gelato pie. Wanted everything to be better. Waitperson highly suggested each of the items we ordered except the Caprese salad and that ended up being the only really good item. Most unfortunate. Not an awful experience but probably won't be going back. There are so many better options out there.

Pork Jowl anything

By Ticoboy |

Just a quick dinner for 7 before a Chastain concert. I really don't know which is better, the wonderfully made cocktails or the perfectly prepared Storico Fresco carbonara made with pork jowl instead of bacon. Service, drinks, and food all good.

Love this place!

By Aroundtheworldgirl84 |

I ended up eating here on Friday night, I was craving Italian and needed to get out of the suburbs. They were packed, the gracious manager (I think he’s the owner) politely walked me to the bar-he could’ve easily just turned me away but, he was so inviting and then I got to sit at the bar with great conversation and new friends. Mitch, the bartender, is so cool. Not only does he make great drinks, he’s very personable. I order the cheese board, the meat board and the octopus. I don’t think I’ve ever had octopus so tender, I’ll definitely be back.

What Happened?

By Jeff S |

I am hoping it was a bad night, but a return visit was disappointing. While the bread was again delicious, the penne a la vodka was borderline inedible, tasteless and the sausage I asked for inclusion was not very good. My wife's chicken piccata was soggy and the quality of the chicken was very low end. I struggle to think what happened, but it would be difficult to return with this last experience.

Worthwhile Experience

By Doug D |

Like others, we visited based on an Atlanta Eats recommendation and were happy we did. It is a small, unassuming restaurant. In spite of the small space and large crowd, the noise levels were fine and it didn't have a claustrophobic feel. All the food was perfectly prepared and served in a timely fashion. We found the service and management to be extremely attentive without being intrusive. They were obviously attentive to every detail and focused on making this a pleasant dining experience for all. Reservations would be highly recommended.

Great time

By Bryan W |

The resturant is small so you need to make reservations. We had a deconstructed pizza which was really really good. I had a veal dish which was really good. My buddy had a cedar plank salmon which he said what the best he has ever had. The resturant is a a bit too small with too many people but we really enjoyed it. We would go back again since the food was great, we enjoyed the atmosphere, and our waiter was really good.

Great Carbonara

By michael p |

It's hard to find pasta carbonara in most Italian restaurants and even harder to find good pasta carbonara. I'm happy to say I have finally found one. Even though I know it is a heart attack on a plate I am delighted to take that chance to enjoy the wonderful flavor. That was all I had for lunch and they took care of me as if I had ordered a banquet.

Surprise! Excellent food and atmosphere!

By 323ToPo |

We happened upon Cibo E Beve restaurant by accident when we had originally stopped at a restaurant a few doors down but couldn't get in. We started to drive away and saw the sign for Cibo E Beve and decided to give it a try - and we were very surprised with the quality of the food, service and comforting atmosphere. The exterior and entry gave us no hint as to what to expect inside - but once there, we loved everything! The food was delicious! We started with a plate of warm olives that reminded us of dining in Florence during our visit to Italy. My husband had the Eggplant Parmigiana and I had the Rigatoni al Gorgonzola - excellent on all accounts. Plus, we found the interior very quiet and soothing so that the conversation was easy minus any need to shout. We will make this restaurant a favorite stop when we return to Atlanta!

Perfect dinner.

By Samantha d |

Just finished our first meal at Cibo e Beve! We rarely venture up to buckhead, but I'm so glad we did. We had several appetizers that were great, including the honey compressed watermelon. For dinner we all shared the diavolo, the ga flatbread, the margherita, the short ribs and the shrimp - all delicious. We tried almost all of the desserts- tiramisu, butter pecan gelato pie, panna cotta, and cannoli. All equally fantastic. Oh, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Italian

By ScottWL38 |

I went on a Saturday night with my wife and our youngest daughter. With no reservations and a busy night for the restaurant, we decided to sit at the bar rather than wait for a table. After we ordered, a table became available through a cancellation so we ended up at a four top. Since we had already ordered at the bar and the bar had cleared out, Sean, the bartender, became our server as well as the bartender. If you go, you must say hello to Sean. He has a great sense of humor, is easy to talk to, and is knowledgeable about cocktails - basically exactly what a great bartender should be. And his enthusiasm carried over to his running back and forth from the bar to keep us happy while sitting at a table. As I noted, the restaurant was full that night which carried over to being pretty noisy. Not in a bad way as we could easily carry on a conversation, but it was not a quiet little place to take your best girl when you want to pop "The Question". The food was excellent. I had the chicken Parmesan which had a perfect crust and the right amount of real mozzarella cheese. My wife had the salmon which she declared to be moist and flacky. An order of lasagna rounded out our meals. The lasagna was a good sized portion with a great sauce and more of the delicious mozzarella. The past couple of restaurants at which we ate and ordered dessert left me thinking the desserts were not worth the calories. At Cibo, we had the ricotta doughnuts and the Tiramisu. Both were excellent and well worth the indulgence! The Tiramisu was light and fluffy with a great taste. But the doughnuts, while sounding rather pedestrian, were our favorite. They were similar to a dense beignet with a wonderful flavor. My only suggestion would be to put the cherries that came with the doughnuts in a separate bowl or leave them off all together. The big question: would we come back? Oh, yes. Absolutely. And we'd start our time there sitting at the bar having a glass of wine so we could chat with Sean first!

Great local Italian joint

By Pete F |

I'm so glad the Food 101 folks put in a new and different restaurant in the same shopping center. I really like going here. Diverse menu, good price point, really good pizza (not Antico good but still very good), great selection of wines by the glass, friendly and wine-knowledgeable servers. It's a really solid experience with a good menu, food and service. I have no complaints. Also, they offer cooking lessons and demos on Saturdays from time-to-time.

Lovely meal and wine list

By Traveling Coach |

We recently had dinner with friends to celebrate the holiday weekend and met at Cibo E Beve. It was a bit noisy inside so we sat outside under a ceiling fan. It was a lovely evening and the food and service were outstanding. We dined (and shared) grilled asparagus with goat cheese, bean soup, calamari and a beet and strawberry salad that was perfect for the warm summer night. I ordered the pasta Bolegnese and it was outstanding. The portion was large enough that I took some home. There was plenty of fresh baked bread and olive oil for dipping. Other lovely dishes included mushroom risotto and pasta papardelle. Our waitress was outstanding. She was attentive without being intrusive and she was very responsive to requests for extra ingredients. Lovely evening at a terrific little neighborhood restaurant with authentic Italian food. Oh, by the way, excellent wines to choose from. Try this little gem. You will not be disappointed.

Fabulous Upscale Italian Cuisine

By TravelForFun58 |

Not your standard Italian fare; yes, pasta is on the menu, but it's done with flair, extra-fresh ingredients, and a local touch (mine incorporated turnip greens and was excellent). We were a party of six, each of us had something different, and everybody loved it. Seafood, chicken, pasta - all good. Great feel to the space, too.

Wrong location, Roswell Rd is not downtown!

By lever8651 |

This gets to be agrivating, looking for a restaurant in a specific location and after reading the reviews and trying to locate the place, to discover it is several miles away from the area/neighborhood I set in the filters. May seem like an insignificant issue; however, if you're not familiar with the area, hop into a taxi and give the driver the name/address of the place only to discover you're in for a twenty dollar and twenty minute ride. Don't know who's at fault but filter screens need to be verified. Seems like the only one to gain from a false location listing would be the "out-of-the-way" restaurant trying to lure the unaware tourist/traveller....

Quite different inside...

By Ana M |

We were in a search for a restaurant to, looked at the menu outside and decided to go for it! I am glad we got in. We didn't have reservations but we were lucky enough to get a table, it was a Saturday but went early in the evening. The restaurant ended up being a bit more formal than expected, but still in the casual range. We loved the bread and the wine selection. As per the menu, do not expect unique plates, I would say, they offer regular dishes. I was not impressed with the food, but maybe it was just my selection. I had lasagna. My hubby had a fish and although good, the portion seemed rather small. Service excellent and ambience really nice. Modern and tasteful. Good overall.

Improved, but Not Terrific

By Dealmaker |

We dined at Cibo E Beve when it first opened and the experience was bad. Finally friends said that things improve and let's try it again. The food is improved, but not terrific. The chopped salad was excellent. The Salmon was just fair and the stuffed chicken breast was just OK. The server reached of stale cigaret smoke!!!

Cibo is also " Takeout Heaven"

By Dlopes |

Cibo is truly an "eat-in" restaurant, but there are few places where you can takeout the very high quality of food they prepare. Be it the Lobster Spaghetti, Rigatoni a la Vodka, the meatballs or the pizzas, Cibo's food is DELICIOUS !! Cibo ain't cheapo, but it's worth every lira.

Great Italian restaurant which rivals my favorite

By Chinapjs |

Great food cooked and served by an Italian family. We were lucky to have the owner's son (from Florence ) serve us. The eggplant parm was one of the best I've had in a restaurant and along with an order of calamari was a perfect first course for the four of us. Veal parm, chicken parm and a truffle and mushroom pizza were our main courses. Really, really good. Tiramisu and a cannoli were desserts. Excellent Italian wine. Service perfect.

Yummmmmmm

By tsw50 |

Love the food, atmosphere and the family that makes it all happen. Highly recc resverations unless you want to sit at the bar...which is great too!

Chef Linda Harell Does It Right!

By bluehorton |

What's not to like about Pasta cooked perfectly al dente? Linda Harell has done great work at Cibo and her passion for cooking comes through in her food. We have had multiple items on the menu and they recently came out with their spring menu. Linda's Bolognese is extremely good and if you like tortellini try it. The pastas can be heavy. The carbonara last time I had it was way too thick and heavily sauced but still had good flavor. Try their veal, burger, sweet potato soup, Cesar salad with an egg crouton, etc. I have not tried the pizzas because their are so many other things to try. We keep going back for more. Try a few of their cocktails if your not driving ;) One infused with smoke was reminiscent of drinking a campfire! You won't be disappointed.

New Years Eve Dinner

By MoeAtlanta |

We selected Cibo E Beve after seeing local reviews in the AJC Newspaper. I knew it might be a bit pricey than normal, since we went around 6:00 pm on New Years Eve. Upon entering we met the owner, who greeted us sincerely and then we were led to our table. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, my wife called it contemporary Italian. I think that fit. Our server was Andre who I highly recommend as he was attentive and helpful all evening. We selected : Fried Calamari lemon, pepperoncini “gastrique”,pomarola Caprese burrata, heirloom tomatoes, balsamic, evoo Caesar Salad baby kale, poached farm egg crouton, white anchovy, reggiano, croutons Lobster Spaghetti maine lobster tail, spicy garlic wine sauce, tomato Lasagna al forno beef and veal ragu layered with italian cheeses and fresh pasta ALL entrees were fresh and incredibly tasty. One of the best Italian meals we have had in a long time! We will most definitely visit again and perhaps have room to enjoy some of the desserts! Sent from my iPhone

Always Delicious

By Lyke2Travel1 |

My husband and I dine here often. It's always very, very good. They have a really great chef, Linda. The atmosphere is chic and upbeat and the bartenders know how to pour a proper glass of wine. Everything on the menu is exceptional.

Show some class

By zehnderr |

Food and service was good. The extra charge for paying with credit card exhibited a total lack of class.

Best "by the glass" wine list in town, but...

By cooter1010 |

...this restaurant really struggles to impress on busy nights. After arriving to no inside table despite our reservation, I saved the poor hostess her well-rehearsed speech by agreeing to be seated outside. We waited for twenty minutes (!) for our first glass of wine and then had to reinforce our request to the manager, and with each course the service continued to devolve, culminating in a very perky and smiling delivery of the bill. Frustrating... We were served sodden salad, cold, chewy calamari, and tepid, undercooked ravioli. The ravioli, properly prepared, had a chance of being delicious but came up way short instead. We have had spotty good luck here, but usually mid-week when the crowd is smaller. Consider your timing carefully to avoid a poor experience.

Great place for a pre-Chastain eats or any dinner

By Mike V |

Awesome! Awesome! Brandon, you are the man, helped us get a Chastain concert basket going with some stags leap. They also have excellent food and a device that allows then to open fantastic wines like Sassacia and sell by the glass. I mean really really good wines by the glass. I had the bolognese, it was fantastic. Thanks again Brandon!

Good Food, Bad Service

By ttbryan1 |

I am a big fan of Food 101 and I went there with my husband on a Wednesday evening, but could not eat there since they were having a private party. So, they suggested CIbo E Beve, which is owned by the same group. We came in and, luckily, we were immediately seated. The restaurant was very busy and very loud, almost to the point where you could barely hear each other. We were seated about 10 minutes before the server came to take our drink order, which typically sets a bad tone with me. We ordered our drinks, which consisted of 2 glasses of wine, and still took about 10 minutes. Then, when he finally brought the wine, we ordered and he said he was going to bring us some bread to snack on. He came back and forth several times over the course of about 15 minutes, still no bread. Finally, we had to stop him and ask for the bread, again, even though we had seen him bring two bread plates to tables around us. Also, the wine we ordered, Cantina Di Caldaro (pino noir), was not good. Finally, we received our food and the food was excellent. I had the veal involtini, which was so good. I am a veal fan and this one does not disappoint. My husband had the gnocchi, which excellent. The portions were a good size and my husband could not even finish his meal. The food was excellent, but the service was really bad and our wine selection was not good. I would be willing to give this place another chance, based solely on the food. However, if the service is not good, again, I would not recommend this to anyone.

Good food.

By Daryl H |

The hostess who welcomed us, didn't really welcome us. She acted really annoyed. We were friendly to her and showed up 5 min early for our reservations so I guess she just didn't want to be there. The guy that brought us our bread was equally unhappy to be at work. Finally, our waiter was friendly. Even though this restaurant is in a shopping center, the atmosphere is very nice and romantic. I ordered the Tagliatelle Carbonara. I wanted to try something new and I really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the Beef & Veal Lasagna and said it was pretty good. After my meal, I had a cup of coffee and some tiramisu and they were both excellent. I would like to give them 4 stars but the unfriendly staff forces me to give them 3.

Tasty fresh food and attentive service - you won't be disappointing!

By Cecilie B |

I brought a group 7 ladies that I work with for our holiday lunch today and it was awesome. We had a variety of appetizers: brussel sprouts, meatballs and calamari................great for sharing, very fresh and all tasted amazing! As far as entrees: lobster spaghetti, chicken picatta, burgers, salads and gorgonzola rigatoni..........once again, totally on point! Our server was very attentive and we even had a surprise visit to our table by Chef Linda Harrell. If you are looking for fresh tasty food, great service and a warm and cozy environment, look NO further. I highly recommend Cibo e Beve for lunch, happy hour or dinner.........you won't be disappointed!

Good food - erratic service

By OneHappyFamily1 |

The good- Nice neighborhood restaurant for Sandy Springs. Party of 4. Halibut special was nice. Changes to orders with ease - chopped salads without salami. The bad - Our server must have ADD. Stopped by to tell us she had to grate cheese for an outside table then abandoned us. Finally served drinks then left for 20 minutes longer before she asked about appetizers. Cleared only one dinner plate from table of four then disappeared again. When she cleared the last three, she stacked the 3 plates on the table in front of one of our guests dropping flatware. When she delivered the bill, she finally asked if she could fill our empty water glasses for the first time. That's when she was the most attentive, focused and friendly - tip time!

New Favorite Italian Restaurant in North Atlanta

By Miles T |

My wife and I were looking to try a new restaurant this past weekend and she picked one, but it was fully booked. On a whim, we went to Cibo e Beve, and we will be returning as often as we can. It's located in a little strip mall next to other great restaurants like Food 101 and Bangkok Thyme, but the food and service ended up being even better. Our waiter, Ryan, was courteous and quick and able to make fun conversation with us. We opted to sit outside as it was a wonderful day. The menu changes with the seasons as a chef should, so we opted for variety sample of foods. For the appetizer, we had the charred octopus. It melted like butter in your mouth, which is quite difficult to do with octopus. Next my wife and I shared two entrees, the beef and veal lasagna and the gnocchi with tasso pork and wild mushrooms. Both were unbelievable. We ordered break about 3 times to keep lapping up the sauces from the entrees long after they were gone, even though we were already stuffed. I definitely recommend this restaurant. The price is similar to Maggiano's or Giovanni's, but with a boutique feel, amazing service, and wonderful food.

Italian to Avoid

By freedine |

My husband and I visited this neighborhood Italian restaurant and we were very disappointed. The staff seemed aloof and the kitchen which is open was not at all busy - there were only a couple of tables of diners that I should have taken as a red flag. The food was mediocre, but the flat bread pizza was inedible - very greasy, and completely unappetizing - if an Italian restaurant cannot cook pizza; it is time to close shop. Neither of us enjoyed the food and definitely will not return.

Great neighborhood spot

By Rebecca L |

We hadn’t been here in several years and had forgotten how good it is. The portions are large. I had the Penne alla Vodka and the waiter suggested I add Italian sausage to it. It was delicious. Others in our group had the Carbonara and the Veal Piccata. We were glad we made reservations as the restaurant filled up quickly.

Great Neighborhood Spot

By Kathryn P |

I have been to Cibo E Beve a couple of times now. I live in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. It is a really good spot. Every time I go, I have loved my meal. There is a great bar with really good drinks (the bartenders know what they are doing). Lots of interesting places to sit along with traditional tables. Highly recommend the pizzas, Scallops, and Short Ribs. This is a great place for a girls night or a date night. Service has been great every time.

Kind of disappointed

By Frequentshoppergal |

The tables in this placed are jammed together, especially the two tops. When we tried to get seated at a better table, the manager said it was for a foursome who would be seated very shortly. After no one had been seated in the next 15 minutes, they proceeded to sit a twosome at that table. The food was OK but nothing special. The brisket cannelloni dish, which was noted as great by another reviewer, was a disappointment- little meat and drowning in cheese. There are lots better Italian places in the Atlanta area.

We're there every couple of weeks, it's that good

By meyerlemonhead |

A friendly neighborhood joint meets killer cuisine meets best bar staff in this part of the city. These guys really pack a lot into a lovely, small space -- inviting dining area, communal table, busy bar, a bit of outdoor seating, all managed by a friendly and adept staff. We like the dining bar at the back, facing the kitchen, near the pizza oven. The appetizer/small plates menu has recently been added to their full menu. Burrata salad, the mixed seafood salad, the mushroom pizza are our favs but the menu changes often enough to keep us coming back to see what's new. Can't say enough about the bar staff - these guys are really into their craft, including a smoked cocktail - haven't tried that one yet. The noise factor can peak at moments but mostly there's not much need to shout to be heard. Give this place a try, we think you'll be back again pronto.

Excellent Italian food

By DM_1278 |

Had dinner here with a friend on a whim and discovered that this local Italian restaurant is excellent! The chicken parm was fresh and tasted great, the bread was fresh, and service was attentive. A good dinner destination for sure if in the area.

Great decor, very good food, low energy

By Ron L |

We really enjoy the look of the restaurant. It's one of the only places in Sandy Springs where you can enjoy an in-town style atmosphere. The food is also very good, especially the thin crust pizza cooked in a very hot tiled over where you can see the large flames. Very cozy especially in the fall and winter. On our last visit, we noticed something missing though. The staff, while very efficient and professional, were not smiling. None of them. They didn't seem to have enthusiasm. Also, the staff was all male, not that there is anything wrong with that, it was just something we noticed. Lastly, the music was 80's or 90's rock, which didn't seem to fit with the beautiful décor. I would have liked bossa-nova or something more slow, but maybe that's my age talking. Anyway, we enjoy the food but wished the staff would lighten up a little. Maybe it was a bad day. We'll be back because we like the food and atmosphere.

Lovely pre-concert meal.

By Wick |

Exceptional dining experience. We had an early dinner before a concert, and everything was exceptional from the food to the service. Our waiter was attentive and answered our questions about both the menu and wine list thoroughly. Our orders came promptly, although not rushed - the food was wonderfully hot, served right after it came out of the kitchen, and everything we could have expected. We were very impressed with the originality and quality of the meals that we ordered.

Friendly neighborhood Italian, with everything just right!

By Charles Y |

This is a very nice neighborhood restaurant, and super convenient to Chastain (for a bite before a show). It is small, with an open kitchen (always nice to be able to see in the kitchen) and a nice assortment on the menu. My wife got the lobster spaghetti and she really enjoyed it. I got the chicken francaise, and it was excellent - one of the best I've had. As others have mentioned, the pasta dishes here are prepared to perfection - not over or under-cooked. We were really impressed by our waiter, Ryan, who was attentive and anticipated our every request. A rare find now-adays. We understand they do take-out, and we're looking forward to trying them for take-out soon!

Great Service.. Ok Food

By BugattiBoi88 |

I don't really know where to begin with this review but let's just say that I had an OK food experience here! The only reason I'm giving it the 4 stars that I am is because the customer service was excellent! The food honestly was nothing spectacular or nothing to run home to tell about. I booked my reservation through opentable so I could get the 1,000 dining points they were offering. I chose this restaurant because about a month ago I went to their Food 101 which is a few doors down. For the cocktails I originally ordered the "mule" but I didn't know that it was like a slushie! I hate frozen drinks prefer my alcohol on ice so I sent it back and got just a regular Long Island. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and I wasn't impressed by far I've had much better.. Seems like they just threw it together real quick and was super chewy, first time I've ever had it prepared oddly like that. I ordered the cibo burger and my friend ordered the chicken Marsala, my burger was HUGE and he enjoyed his chicken Marsala.. In no hurry to return but I may who knows..

Some good, some not so good

By Bento1949 |

My family recently ate dinner at Cibo e Beve for the first time. We found things to like and things that could be improved upon. The restaurant is well known for its meatballs and the meatball appetizer did not disappoint. All of our main courses were tasty, if not spectacular. My son particularly liked the lobster with spaghetti fra diavolo. On the other hand, in all cases the pasta was very overcooked. Soft and mushy. We had two desserts. The gelato pie was very good but the Tartufo had gelato that had the consistency of ice cream that had been refrozen. Icy rather than creamy and not good. The decor was very nice and the service very good. I think we'd give it another try but I don't think we'll be rushing to do so.

Always a wonderful doing experience

The food is really delicious from appetizers, such as the calamari, to the desserts especially the gelato pie and the wine list is really nice too. Our server took really great care of our group of six. Cibo e Beve is one of our favorite places to dine!

Very good semi casual Italian

By Stephen C |

Situated close to Food 101 in a strip mall on the Roswell Rd, there is adequate parking to the rear. Big thanks to the restaurant because we had booked the wrong evening and they took pity on us and squeezed us in despite the weekend crowds. That is good service! The menu allows you to eat large or small formal or casual and it is interesting and tasty. Our choices ranged from calamari and salads for starters to pizzas, short ribs and roasted cauliflower for entrees. The wine list is limited but adequate with a nice range of mostly Italian choices. This was our third time there and it wont be our last. One caution is that it is quite loud in there and that might be an issue for somebody with a hearing impairment.

very good italian food

We visited here for our date. Was very pleased with the service and food. Will definitely go back. The food was amazing and our cocktails were too. We had the expresso Martini and Peach Sangria

Fantastic Neighborhood Spot With Excellent Food, Drinks & Service

By Michelle S |

We have been to Cibo E Beve 3 times and all three were great experiences. We had the generous meatballs and crispy calamari to start. And a delicious plate of carbonara and the veal entree for dinner. On this visit, we came early to celebrate our daughters' birthday and they created a special princess pasta and surprised them with a gelato sundae at the end of the meal! I give this place my highest reco!

Reservations a must for dinner - good meal but inconsistent service

By SouthernBelles98 |

A friend and I tried this restaurant for the first time at dinner and even with reservations we had to wait a considerable time. We normally would have gotten a drink at the bar while we were waiting but the bar area was packed and we were left to cram into the foyer and wait. The place had a frazzled feel throughout the night and we initially chalked up some issues to "working out the kinks" thinking the place had just opened - however just before leaving we realized it had been open for a while which was surprising. The food was solid but not good enough to make another special trip anytime soon. I really liked the cocktail with the vodka, lemon and procecco- recommend trying it. I also enjoyed the chicken Parmesan which was a good size portion. Had the service been on point my review would have been higher. Check for the night of half price bottles of wine!

Just Stopped on a Whim

What a lovely surprise - the food was excellent, very tasty, well presented and the price was right. This is definitely on our list for future visits. We both had a pasta dish and a glass of wine - very nice.

delightful surprise

By Linda L |

We had a 2:1 coupon and decided to use it.The restaurant is in a strip shopping center across from the large Fountain Oaks center, making parking very easy. It was a very early dinner to accomodate theatre tickets so the place was quite empty (on questioning, we were told weekends were packed and very lively). Service was friendly without being overwhelming. The salad, pizza with truffle oil and mushrooms and my husband's chicken parmigean were all excellent. The wine list was very interesting, but not tried on this visit. The restaurant also prides itself on it's cocktails, again, wanting to stay up for the theatre we didn't imbibe. Definitely will return, even without the coupon.

Great Food, Excellent Service

By Tatiana G |

My family went for dinner to Cibo E Beve restaurant. The dinner was excellent. We enjoyed Florentine cuisine, prompt and unobtrusive service, ready to accommodate any of our needs, friendly conversation with the owner of the place. Besides good food, we learned a lot about Florence and Italy in general. We will definitely return there.

Yummy

I had one of the best pasta meals ever, Tuscan pasta with a wild boar ragu. They had appetizer specials and the Brussels sprouts were fantastic. Our service was very good too. I wish I lived close by this would be a regular for me

Real highs . . .and lows

By Dick O |

Cibo e Beve was a recommended Italian bistro that had been on our list to try for some time. It's a charming atmosphere, not too noisy, and a variety of seating options from high tops, tables, cozy booths and kitchen counter. Avoid the booths if you're short - you'll sink in the love-seat and be almost chin-high to the table. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful but didn't make it back with ground pepper for our salad. The chopped salad was flavorful but we never did find the tomato, pepperoncini or cucumber. Bread was outstanding - freshly baked with wonderful crust a light fluffy texture. Our guests had shrimp -- one dish with roasted potatoes that was deemed "pretty good" and the other was one of the night specials, prepared with pasta and overly spiced. My wife had pumpkin ravioli, nicely prepared but swimming in a sage cream sauce. My seared scallops had no sear whatsoever and were served on a bed of delicious (but cool) pecan risotto. Italian donuts to share for dessert were outstanding - hot and crispy served with a warm cherry compote. A nice atmosphere for a neighborhood restaurant with a menu of highs and lows . . .unfortunately more lows in this visit.

Good atmosphere for family or partner

By Amy L |

They have an I terrain menu of modern and Classic Italian dishes. Extremely friendly waitstaff. Also have a need foodie bar where you can watch the chef cook. You can even buy bottles of wine from them.

Excellent experience - a gem on Roswell

By jovoyvanair |

I think this enclave is a cluster of quality with some other strong offers. We were a party of 12 and sat at the high table close to the open kitchen. I thought this was a particularly good experience - quality wait staff who were genuinely interested, wonderful food and I observed a front-of-house manager ensuring everything was running smoothly - but also kept out of the way (what a fine balance to strike). Moreover, scale of this place engenders a quality experience, its "right-sized" with the option of being near the open kitchen, a food bar, and drinks bar and the option for al fresco dining on the terrace out front. Everyone in our party left highly satisfied - we will return.

Hidden Gem

By ptd496 |

We took our friends' suggestion and made reservations last Saturday for dinner. Restaurant is pretty well hidden in Sandy Springs near Fountain Oaks shopping center. Great atmosphere. Not many tables. Service got off to a slow start but recovered. Also ran out of a few of the specials. Good food, nicely seasoned and nice wine choice without the normal, huge mark up.

Could be good or better

By Jame C |

We like other restaurants owned by this group so this experience was surprising. When we arrived the outdoor seating was in direct hot sunlight so no takers there. The interior was cool and can we emphasize DARK including the subdued to non existent light coming form the large fixture over the table at eye level when standing. Next when you get into the booth be prepared to do a squat into a soft vinyl seat that while comfortable is so low that the table is chest high! Our server Kembia did a great job of explaining the wine list including items not on the list and explaining that appetizers were sprinkled over the menu rather than grouped. She kept the service flowing and helped alleviate the overall rating for the experience. We began with a martini and a glass of Italian Chardonnay. The martini was ok with fairly heavy vermouth (most bars understand that when ordered up that means chilled gin or vodka and a hint at most of vermouth). However my complaint is that the martini was miniscule for the price. The American Stags Leap Chardonnay was buttery and flavorful and maybe worth the price. My wife tried the meatballs of veal, beef and pork finding them and their sauce delicious. I tried the lobster pasta and found the pasta and white wine with red pepper sauce very good but the lobster dry. Our appetizer was the fig dish which consisted of three figs surrounding gorgonzola and wrapped in prosciutto which were excellent. The best dish of the evening was the grilled Brussels sprouts which were crisp and deliciously sauced. On balance the food is better than the décor but inconsistent.

Awesome Italian in Sandy Springs

By Whitney H |

We ate here last weekend and really enjoyed it! Nice atmosphere and great location for our new favorite Italian go-to. Great wine selection and a diverse dinner menu too. We had the Georgia wild shrimp app, which was incredible. I had the crab torelli and my husband had the cheeseburger. We both were so full and satisfied from our entrees but decided to get a slice of the butter pecan gelato pie :) it was amazing. Great spot!

Great local hidden gem

By trojans |

Little did I realize the Italian place my son and daughter-n-law kept telling me about that was just around the corner from where they lived was owned by the folks who own my favorite restaurant down at Rosemary Beach, Paradis. While my son was having to work late, I opted to take my daughter-n-law here along with our 4-month-old granddaughter while I was up in Atlanta visiting for a few days. The restaurant is small yet so accommodating. They welcomed up, baby and all, placing us in a tucked away booth. It was perfect. The baby is always great when we go out, but this spot just provided us with an extra sense of well being. The limoncello sparkler is a great start while settling in to look over the menu as it is light, cool and refreshing. I actually brought them here twice during my stay it was that good. It is quite but can get very busy so reservations are recommended. There is a brick oven for in-house pizzas and the pasta is equally as fresh. I had pasta both nights even ordering the rather pricey but very good signature lobster pasta. My daughter-n-law got a pizza one evening and the pasta carbonara the following visit---both were excellent. The meatball appetizers with fresh ricotta and a house made marinara sauce are equally good as is the tiramisu. They have an extensive wine offering, by the glass or bottle as well as many signature cocktails. I can't wait to go back and take my husband.

New take on Italian

By Bill D |

This vibrant new offering in Sandy Springs is a surprise. We like sitting at the counter over-looking the kitchen and food preparation. A great mid-week option.

Quiet lunch spot

By Jame C |

Met a friend for lunch here and found the space dark with soft booth seats that are a bit low but very good food. The noise level is low allowing for conversation and the servers friendly, well versed in the menu and helpful. We each enjoyed the Italian chopped salad with Ahi tuna grilled on top.

Good neighborhood Italian

By Kuniko D |

We shared a meal with some friends before Christmas. My husband's lamb chops were wonderful and my sliders were good. My friend's thin crust pizza looked good as well. The appetizers were good size for sharing. Bottled wine prices were reasonable. We also like the fact that they take reservations. I would take out of town guests to this place!

Great whether you eat there ortake out.

By Stephen H |

Have been many times to eat in, but first for take out. Very C-19 aware. The food is always excellent with nice staff and good service. This was no different. The food was ready and the process was effortless! The eggplant parm is some of the best we've had. Nice bar or sit in with family or just two of you. This is solidly in the quarantine rotation.

Killer Eggplant Parm & Burrata

By Jeff S |

I was not sure what to expect from an Italian restaurant in a strip mall across from Kroger’s, but the couple who recommended the restaurant assured me the food was delicious. When you walk in, you are pleasantly surprised by the surroundings, you leave the strip mall thoughts behind, you are in a nicely decorated restaurant. There are high top tables when you enter, a smattering of regular height tables and a few booths. Our foursome decided on a booth, it was a great choice. The first indication of the food quality was the bread, which I was told was made in-house. A basket was brought to the table with two bowls of olive oil with a ton of pepper added to the oil. The bread was delicious, just be aware that you could receive a fair amount of pepper on the olive oil dip. A second basket was delivered. I give the bread an 8. The Burrata appetizer was served with halved cherry tomatoes, arugula, balsamic and extra virgin olive oil ($12) – One of the best Burratas around. The skin was soft and when you cut into the center, the interior oozed, with great flavor and texture. It went well with the arugula and the scant, few halved cherry tomatoes. The only negative was the salting of the arugula was very uneven. The Burrata is a 10 and the salad & tomatoes are a 7. The Cibo Meatballs ($10) were topped with San Marzano tomato sauce, and a dollop of ricotta. There is little positive I can say about these meatballs, it was a complete failure. They were served room temperature, much too cool, the meat was stringy, there was little, if any flavor, and the texture was too firm. The sauce was the only redeeming feature. I would avoid this altogether. Sorry, but this dish gets a 0. Eggplant Parmigiana ($12), was a typical recipe, but served in individual casserole dishes. The dish, itself was thinly sliced eggplant layered with mozzarella and parmigiana and san Marzano tomato sauce. This appetizer is easily an entrée portion and was absolutely delicious. It was individually baked to order so let it cool down before you start to eat. This is definitely a 10. Veal Scaloppini ($28) is thinly pounded and served with sage, prosciutto cotto, fontina cheese, and white wine, atop polenta and spinach. This is also a large portion with several slices of delicious veal, perfectly fried sitting atop the prosciutto, spinach and polenta, a mighty tower. As a head’s up, there is a difference between prosciutto parma (the thin slices that we all enjoy with mozzarella and tomato as an appetizer) and prosciutto cotto, the latter is part of this dish and resembles boiled ham versus the cured prosciutto. I really like the veal, but the prosciutto cotto was not to my liking and I was not overly enamored by the polenta. I give this a 7. Tiramisu ($8) with espresso and kahlua dipped savoiardi, mascarpone mousse, cocoa powder was a great split for dessert. This was an excellent version, with the cake and custard allowed to shine versus some versions where the liquor is the centerpiece. It is a nice hug at the end of the meal. I give it a 9. Service was very good. Overall, I liked Cibo & Beve. The atmosphere was great and the food has potential. With one meal under my belt I have a better feel for the strengths and will order accordingly on the next visit.

Mouth Watering!

Had an excellent entree with angel hair pasta, shrimp, calamari, mussels in a nice sauce. For dessert we had butter pecan gelato pie. Ate too much....but it was worth it. Service was great. All nine people were happy. Will return the next time we visit Atlanta area.

A Good Choice on a Saturday Night

By sfgfiat |

We were at Cibo E Beve on a Saturday night with a party of seven and our evening was excellent. The staff was very good and attended to all details. This is restaurant along Roswell Road that maximizes the space within the shopping center it occupies. It does have a warm and welcoming feel and that makes for a nice beginning to the evening. We would go back.

Service kills the tastiness

By Ronni C |

Dinner with friends last night was great (because of the company) The food was good but......The soft warm bread with oil was yummy. Our waitress dropped our wine off without opening it and came back to open it after she took orders and bussed tables. And went downhill from there. I ordered the Marsala. It was good but I've had better. The caprese salad had a piece of fried eggplant. That was a nice surprise. Our server actually tacked on her tip for herself. Felt very inappropriate and unnecessary. All in all the bad service ruined the chance of seeing us again. Food four and service two making it an average three.

Neighborhood classic

By Djsaint |

We have not been in a couple of years and was disappointed at how the menu has not changed. With so many excellent Italian restaurants to choose from, Cibo E Beve has become boring and unimaginative. My husband and I agreed to that both our pasta dishes were just okay. Our spinach salad was bathing in dressing and had 2 sliced strawberries on top. It's a shame because decor is very welcoming and the service was very good and attentive.

Elegant neighborhood favorite.

By Rebeccaroswell |

Cibo is our favorite "go to" restaurant. We dine here frequently and they always roll out the red carpet. We came for the food and return over and over for the service too. I generally order off the menu and some favorites are the brussels sprouts, cauliflower and meatballs. We also love the Tartufo pizza. The veal shank is obscenely good. They always customize a dish to my exact specifications, so no need to fear that this is a heavy Italian pasta and pizza joint. They do a great job with fish (fantastic salmon) and vegetables (the minestrone is to die for)! They also do the small things so well. Hot bread is brought immediately and replenished. They happily split dishes. A slightly wobbly table leg was dealt with quickly and with such professionalism. The waiters know wine well. They make great recommendations and will let you taste before you buy. Speaking of wine, they have a lovely and creative wine list. The waiters remember what we have ordered and enjoyed in the past. Just writing this makes me hungry for Cibo. We might wind up there again, tonight.

Good food overall but some inconsistencies

By brenda C |

We had a party of 6 for my dad's birthday on a Friday night. The ambiance is very nice and the sous chef is very Italian - which was promising for the 4 Italians at the table. Our appetizers were calamari fritti, the beet & strawberry salad, the meatballs and the grilled asparagus with goat cheese. The calamari was among the best ever. It had tiny little peppers and also fried zucchini which reminded me of my grandmothers house in summer. The meatballs were authentic and delicious. The beet and strawberry salad would have been better if there was even 1 beet. I did mention it to my server but she just looked at me and said "ok" so I let it go. For meals, 2 of us ordered Halibut. Our server came back to tell us that a new shipment came in and it was not thick Halibut but very thin and did we still want it. We did not want to pay $36 for halibut that wasn't what we were expecting so we changed orders to the wild mushroom risotto and the wild mushroom pizza. Both were very good. other diners with us had the pasta alla Norma (exceptional!!!!), Chicken Parm (big portion), brick chicken (again large portion and excellent) and the papradelli bolognese which was homemade and excellent. The wines are a bit on the pricey side. There are few choices under $50. The white sangria was to die for. We were too full for desserts but the birthday boy was brought a large piece of Tiramisu which 6 of us shared and it was enough after the large meal. Would we go back? Maybe. There are a couple things on the menu we would like to try and the calamari fritti might just be worth coming back for on its own.

Christmas Eve here...

By laughinghusky |

Atlanta doesn't have much open during the holidays, but this was....we were unsure about it...(My mother is from Northern Italy) and I am pretty fussy about my Italian food. We could not get a reservation until 9 PM....which was fine...but asked if they had any openings earlier would they call....and they did....Restaurant was excellent, staff was well versed in what they were offering...They offered a special fish dinners that night which were traditional...We brought our son and his girlfriend there. We all ordered different things and each was absolutely excellent. It is so, so easy to over cook, lobster abnd oysters.....and they didn't. Took their suggestions for a bottle of wine....and it was an excellent one. I would go back there again in a red hot second.....

Like being in Italy …

By CCBNYCNC |

We usually spend a few months/year in Italy, but COVID clipped our wings. Luckily, when visiting family, we found Cibo e Beve! What a fabulous spot… friendly people and terrific food (enough for a few more meals). Looking forward to our next visit!

Delicious and very special Italian food

By Jorge L |

It's a very special Italian restaurant. Much better after the management changed. I recommend specially the Octopus, which is world class; and the very unexpectedly surprising Calamari. Among the entrees, the veal scallopini makes the difference with other average Italian restaurants.

Lobster Lite

By Debbie P |

We visited based on recommendation of Atlanta Eats show. I ordered the “famous Lobster Spaghetti.” Well, it was big on spaghetti and lite on lobster. $32 is alot to pay for a bowl of noodles. Don’t get me wrong, it was very tasty but only had 6 thumb nail pieces of lobster. My husband ordered an Old Fashion cocktail and it was the smallest drink ever. His Carbonara was delicious. We may give them another try but will definitely order another dish.

A Delightful Surprise

By Mary R |

My husband pleasantly surprised me with the spontaneous announcement that he was taking me out on Friday evening. We drove to Brookhaven Town but a 40-minute wait at our destination had us driving elsewhere looking for another option. "Go in and see if they have a table," my husband asked me while he navigated the parking lot. I walked in, and was immediately greeted with a "Let me check," despite the obviously full and crowded restaurant. The hostess was able to squeeze us in at the bar and we were escorted right away. It ended up being one of my favorite night outs with my husband. We went all out with drinks, appetizers and dinner. The drinks were very small for the price. Other than that, we were most pleased with the food. I was so happy to see that each pasta dish can be served gluten free upon request! I ordered the Shrimp Portofino, which is an extremely rich creamy pasta laden with shrimp and bacon. I could not eat all of it so I had the waiter box it up. When I woke up this morning, my first thought was the box of Shrimp Portofino in the refrigerator and was ready to devour it for breakfast, only to find out that my daughter beat me to it!

Solid Food and Service at a Reasonable Price

By Trek-Always |

We were in the area between an afternoon event and theatre downtown. Found this Italian choice along Route 9 south of 285. Note that our car nav and our phone nav sent us to a place south that is not where the restaurant is. Look in a small strip plaza across from W. Belle Isle Rd. Service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Food was very good. I had the special salad (Rocket lettuce, beets, feta, etc.) that was truly exceptional. The special ravioli was also very well prepared. It had a smoky flavor which I am not crazy about but that is personal preference. The food was well prepared and presented. Dinner for two (no drinks, no wine, no dessert) was less than $60. Nice choice for Italian outside of the city. If this review is helpful then please click below.

Perfect Italian

The restaurant has reinvented itself with a wonderful chef, great service, varied wine list, and, of course, authentic Italian food. The lasagna was truly Italian and the Kale and Bean soup should not be missed.

Cozy Italian Spot

We tried this restaurant during an extended business trip in the area (after dining at our two favorites). What a surprise! Everything about this restaurant is perfection. Definitely our new #1 when I n the Atlanta area!

Lobster Spaghetti

By Jeff1983 |

We tried Cibo on a Friday and it was great. To start out I love the interior of the restaurant , nice and cosy. Try to sit at or near pasta bar, a kind of chiefs table. We had drinks and they were great. I had a Sazurac and it was the best one I've had outside of New Orleans. We then the meatballs as an appetizer and they great and the sauce was as close to my mother in laws as you can get. Then we had the Lobster Spaghetti , it was so good. The lobster was juicy and cooked perfectly, fresh pasta and a great sauce. Overall I was very happy with my diner at Cibo. Oh and the staff was great also.

Not impressed

By Micheled7 |

We were here with longtime friends on Friday night and we were underwhelmed. From having to remind our waiter several times about drink orders that seemed to be forgotten, to pizza that was lackluster and under temperature, the overall feeling was that our waiter just didn't care. He never inquired about our food once it was served, nor did he seem to care that my pizza went mainly untouched. I had ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza and when the arugula stays fully crisp you can tell that the pizza was not hot. Those in our group who ordered the salmon and halibut were at least served hot dishes, and they said the food was ok. When there are a number of restaurants to choose from in our area, I would not return to a place where there seems to be no concern with the quality of what is being served to the patrons, and a wait staff that seems to not care, either.

CasualClassicContemporary Italian

By RobinReview |

Let’s clear the air. It’s not like a really really good American Italian (not to be confused with an Italian-American) restaurant is going to serve exactly the style of really good authentic Italian cuisine you’d find in Italy – but some American Italian restaurant can make unique variations of and equally as good as the same dishes you’d find in Italy. Cibo e Beve’s Veal Saltimbocca, Tagliatelle Carbonara, and Lobster Spaghetti are much like what you’d find in a classic-moderno restorante in Florence. Even in Italy these dishes would be prepared differently … and not necessarily as good as the Cibo e Beve versions. As someone who travels to Italy every few years to engage in gastronomic debauchery at some of the best restaurants – I’ll stack these three dishes against their Italian counterparts. I’m not saying that every single item at Cibo e Beve is fantastic – but then again that can’t be said about many. I might add that the service is very good as well. The owners and chefs deserve credit for offering a classic- contemporary menu in a community that often refuses to venture beyond pizza … which Cibo e Beve does well too. The wine by the glass menu could be expanded (and I’m told will, soon) but the Wine list in general is strong and the full bar is a bartender’s bar. I have no affiliation with Cibo e Beve – but I think they are a neighborhood treasure. R. Robin

Romantic and Yummy!

By corysgirlNWFlorida |

I'm a foodie, and an aspiring chef, so I am picky. My hairdresser who owns her salon and travels to Europe fairly frequently and she recommended it. I was there with my spouse and we loved it. They have a real fire-burning brick oven in the back corner. The tables are rustic but elegant, and we enjoyed our table which was a couch-style booth with sophisticated throw pillows. The food was really delicious, and the appetizer we had was great. It had pate, jellied peppers, roasted garlic, several kids of cheese, bread, and other things. It was busy and I was glad we had made a reservation on OpenTable because if we hadn't it would have taken a longer wait at the bar. We waited for probably about 10 minutes, and it's obvious the place is very popular. The same family owns the Food 101 next door which is completely different but also a wonderful place to go. They offer valet service which is nice. They have items on their menu that really are Italian.

Consistently great food and service, authentic Italian fare

By Work2TravelMore |

We probably end up here 3-4 times a month, and never disappointed. They do modern Italian fare - fresh ingredients, simple preparation. That's not to say the food isn't creative, as it surely is, but you won't find Maggiano's/Carraba's type American/Italian food. Pizzas are fantastic, and while the lobster spaghetti has been on the menu for several years, it never gets old - perfect every time, and addictive. Bar manager is great, they certainly know how to make a cocktail here, and a great wine selection. We'll keep coming back.

Lovely Italian bistro

By Traveling Coach |

I recently had a business lunch with a colleague and old friend and he suggested Cibo E Beve. Although I had heard of this restaurant I had never eaten there although they have been open for five years. This is a small bistro-type restaurant located in a retail strip of shops featuring additional restaurants. It is inconspicuous from the front but the ambiance on the inside is delightful. There are booths and tables and a wood fired grill. The menu is limited for lunch but features authentic Italian cuisine. We started with the white bean and bacon soup and it was flavorful but not too heavy. The featured entree was penne pasta with chicken and it looked delicious. I had a salad which was just the right sized portion and they served fresh bread and olive oil with the meal. The waiter was polite and helpful with opinions on the various food options. We finished off the meal in our nice quiet booth as the lunch crowd grew larger and louder. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience and it was moderately priced. Will likely go back and try it for dinner. Nice place hiding in plain site on Roswell Road. Give it a try !!

The Secret is Out!

By Rockhopper63 |

As a frequent diner at this cozy cucina I have been pleased with the consistent excellence in the food, service and atmosphere - but last night Chef Linda Harrell and her crew delivered an astounding meal that exceeded even my now lofty expectations. I have enjoyed the 1855 Beef Tenderloin before, and it has always been delicious. This time it was transcendent! The sauce was perfectly balanced, the beef tender beyond reason, served atop sautéed spinach so delicately prepared that the firm texture simply melted in my mouth. Oh, and the parsnip and potato fries were delightful as always and the entire meal was presented on a plate taken directly from the line to the table. I had been reluctant to write a review of my *favorite* Atlanta restaurant for fear of making a table harder to get - and I dine here often with family, friends, and business partners. But it's pretty clear this jewel has now been widely discovered. Justin attracts a crowd as the master of mixology, and Tim leads a crew that consistently informs and enhances the dining experience, all within an environment that might be described as rustic Italian chic. We love this place, and it's clear that others are discovering it too. With Chef Linda and her partners, we are eager to enjoy it for years to come.

Inspiring, simple and hearty food

By Constantcomment62 |

I went to Cibo e Beve for the first time last week with a friend. The food was delicious and portions were very generous; in fact, the entrees, salads and desserts were more than enough for two to share. The wine list was excellent and extensive. It was food that was simply, but well done and made me want to go home and try my hand at the dish (maybe:). The atmosphere was quiet and cozy...a nice place for a simple date night. I would highly recommend giving Cibo a try.

Delicious birthday dinner!!!

My family went to celebrate my son birthday. The food and service was amazing. This was my first time and the waiter suggested food entrees and also was very attentive to make sure everything was perfect. My son was very happy as well as my entire family.

Mediocre at best

By DBS5687 |

We have been before and enjoyed it. We looked at the menu on line for lasagna and decided to go. When we arrived we were told that the menu was seasonal and there was no lasagna. A recommendation for another dish that was 'similar" - handkerchief. Fair at best. The caesar salad - which I have been eating for 45 + years was kale - I guess I needed to read the total detail of the menu. Service was only fair. The lobster spaghetti was good, but the total effect was that we will not return.

Our new favorite Italian restaurant

By cowbulls |

The location is very convenient as it is inside the loop on Roswell in a strip shopping center. The parking is a little complicated with parking out front, in the back, and a little down the side. We made a reservation as we had a group of eight. Our table was ready when we arrived. The restaurant was crowded when we arrived and still full when we left. Lorenzo, our server was excellent. He was knowledgeable about the menu and answered questions with patience. Everything was on time and no one ever had an empty glass. The food was best in the area exceptional. The meatball appetizer was wonderful. We tried many different things from dinner salads with salmon, pasta dishes, and chicken and veal main courses. We ordered a pizza, and it was also very good. We tried the chicken parmigiana and Taglierini Norcini. I would order both again. The wine by the glass was also very good and reasonably priced. In summary, this is a comfortable and lovely decorated restaurant, and I would go again. Our visit proved that they handle special events very well. The bar was also nice.

Not even close to the reviews!

By Sanford G |

Read some good reviews, so we gave it a try. the place was packed and we were excited about a new restaurant in the area. It ended there. We wanted a full body red wine, and were recommended a Montepulchiano, which is a type that I really like. It was the lightest Montepulchiano that I ever had. Strike one. Then, I had the Caesar salad and it was enjoyable, with a little bite. Then on to the short ribs. They were lousy. They were seared with some concoction that tasted like burnt coke. I only ate half because I was hungry. Another diner had the amberjack special and it was over cooked and dry.

Great food / Good Atmosphere in Sandy Springs

By seven21 |

I haven't been here in a while and I thought it would be the perfect spot to grab a meal with about 8 people after an all day work session. The menu is very accommodating since they have meat, fish, pasta, pizza, vegetarian and gluten-free options. There is a range of seating available: large parties can get a high top in the back of the restaurant that looks to comfortably seat about 10 (mixed stools / bench seating). There is also bar seating and tables / booths throughout. The small plates are excellent for an appetizer. We shared the meat and cheese plates, which came with honey and sweet pecans. We also had the crispy brussels sprouts and meatballs. For entrees, there was a wide range selected by each individual. Several of us ordered the sea bass and it was very good. Nicely prepared and they accommodated some substitutions for the sides. Others had the shrimp, eggplant parm, steak and scallops. For dessert, several of us had the Strawberry Gelato and another party member had the tiramisu. Great place for a group to grab a bit on a weeknight.

No Cacio e Pepe

By MarcoTravel1 |

Other than not serving the Cacio e Pepe as seen on some online menus, I still enjoyed the meal. Salamui & Formaggi was very good. The Bucatini Carbonara was almost great! Had the egg and other basic ingredients; however, they did add cream. And espresso had a lemon peel :-( I'd still come back :-)

Thanksgiving feast with an italien twist

By Bill D |

We, for the first time ever, decided to dine out on Thanksgiving and have dinner with the family over the weekend. We wanted traditional Thanksgiving recipes but with some flair. Cibo provided it. Even though the offerings were limited, it was not the tradtional fixed menu. You had real choices (for example four sides from a list of about fifteen) but with a distinctive Cibo take on the food--butternut squash risotto, for example, and free range turkey, rather than a Butterball. The meal began with a special flaky pastry filled with cheese and a berry reduction. Marvelous. I'm glad this restaurant is in our neighborhood. We will definately be repeat customers, including becauuse we love being able to watch what is going on in the kitchen. Bravo Cibo.

Enjoyable Dinner for a Special Occasion!

By Songwriter2898 |

Atmosphere is good. Service is excellent. Food was very good- great variety. When the waitress brought our check and learned our family was celebrating my husband and my anniversary of meeting, she insisted we have a complimentary dessert which was EXCELLENT! Wine was good. Booth's awkward to get into, but comfortable once you're in :-)

What a discovery!

Had dinner at Cibo e Beve with my wife, was expecting a usual italian restaurant. WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE!!! Very cozy yet relaxed atmosphere, the service was outstanding, and the food even better. Every item in the menu seems delicious, unfortunately we could only confirm a few of them. Will return many more times, this is our new favorite!!!

Awesome find!!!

By Passport584250 |

Stopped for a quick bite after my daughter’s dance class to wait out the traffic and was pleasantly surprised by this cozy, kid friendly gem! Mitch, the mixologist made a special fruit punch and lemonade for the kids, which they loved. They also enjoyed watching their pizza being made right in front of them, and it was absolutely delicious!! I can’t say enough about how friendly and inviting the service was! This is clearly one of the top 5 Italian restaurants in the A! Can’t wait to go back with my girls for Ladies Night on Thursday!

Better each time

By Lillyatl |

Very good for lunch as it is not as noisy as sister restaurant, Food 101. Chef has a good touch with Italian and fish dishes.

Somewhat out of the way. But if you're in the Roswell Rd area, worth the effort

By Jonathan Ehrlich |

Because Cibo etc is a mile from I-285, the Sandy Springs or Buckhead GA-400 exit or Peachtree ST, you're going to have to really, really want to try this restaurant to bother to find it. Do it. You won't be disappointed. I noticed some luke-warm reviews when I started writing this. All I can say is my wife and I found the food excellent, the portions generous, the atmosphere cozy and the wait staff attentive. If I have any reservation about the place it is that the prices are lightly high for a neighborhood restaurant and the wine prices were outrageous for any restaurant. So save your visit for a romantic occasion and do your drinking elsewhere.

Great Food, Poor Service

By Bob M |

Based on Atlanta Eats recommendation, we went for dinner with friends. First showed to one of the booths, way to small for four adults, moved to a table. All the food, from apps to entrees, to desserts were very good. The appetizer mussels, were individually placed in the dish, rather than dumped, and were great. The Caesar salad, and burrata were also good. Spaghetti and meatballs, had two huge meatballs, lobster and pasta was good, as always, not enough lobster. Pasta was fresh made, vs dried. Service was the negative. Had to hunt down someone for bread service, ice tea refills, and for the check. Small place, fairly loud during prime time. Food worth going back for

Very nice, quaint family owned restaurant. Great service and nice neighborhood clientele. A very pleasant atmosphere,.

Whenever I get a chance I stop here for a quick bite and a nice glass of wine or a cocktail. The meals are very large so I rarely order them but based on the many "regulars", they have to be as good as the small dishes I've tried The bar is my favorite place to be. All the bartenders are friendly, fast, attentive, and very nice. The clientele is always friendly and pleasant. This place rarely misses.

Below average from start to finish

By mistletoej50 |

My husband and I found this restaurant in the Atlanta Dining Passport Book. We drove an hour and fifteen minutes to give it a try. (The menu on this site by the way, is incorrect with both offerings and prices). We are foodies and my husband especially likes good italian . This was far from that. We ordered the lobster spaghetti($30) and the brisket cannelloni($25). His was mostly spaghetti with a very "almost not there sauce" as far as flavor goes and mine was so covered in cheese that the taste of the brisket cannelloni was impossible to discern. These came with bread. The portions were small to average making it WAY overpriced! Thankfully we only drank water and did not order wine or a salad or our bill would have been ridiculous AS they added a 20% gratuity to the bill because we were using a coupon book. We discovered this when our check arrived. They are THE ONLY restaurant that has done this thus far in our use of the book. (The book states nothing about this). So for two overpriced below average meals, our tip was $11. IF we had added salads and wine to our meal that would have added another $10 to our bill for tips . Now mind you, we are good tippers but the 20% level is based on excellent service and we do not frequent restaurants who automatically add gratuity as it leaves little incentive for good service and says a lot about the management mindset. Do yourself a favor, if you have the passbook, don't use it here. If you like Italian food, there are MANY other excellent well priced and tastier choices before having to resort to this one.

Wonderful

By Kathy S |

Went with 2 girlfriends on a Tuesday night, and couldn't have been better! Our waiter was wonderful, helping us with the menu, making us feel welcome, not rushing us. He was a pro at waiting on "the girls"! Besides that, the food and wine were terrific! I will definitely return!

Disappointed

By Dealmaker |

Totally disappointed with the food. The restaurant was overcrowded and the kitchen was just throwing out food. All meals were tasteless and in some cases overcooked. The veal dish was sent back and then returned even more well done then it was before. The lobster spaghetti had no taste. The salmon was tasteless. The evening was pandemonium. We know that the head chef is talented, but it did not show up when we dined there.

Bogus Italian

By Phoenyx-Floyd |

Two words to describe this place: a sham! We tried 3 different dishes on the menu and were totally disappointed. You know a place is bad when you return a dish a the one they replace it with comes out even worse. They claim to serve authentic Italian dishes but they probably use low quality ingredients to cut corners. Personally, I'd rather spend a few extra bucks and eat something worthy of my digestive system than wasting money on a mediocre experience. If you're like me, avoid this place at all costs...PS: Don't even waste your "Atlanta Dining Pass Voucher" here.

Slipped Since Our Last Visit - Disappointed

By corysgirlNWFlorida |

We loved this place a few years ago when we lived in Sandy Springs and came to Cibo e Beve this evening for dinner after a couples massage. The food was good but service was slow, not on point, and our waiter was completely disengaged. To sum it up in a word, compared to past experiences a few years ago when it was more new and the motivation was higher to stay on top of things, it is now pretentious (same decor, same good flavors, but now not quality service). I don't expect to be treated like I'm at a four-star but the waiter should at least act like he cares that we’re happy. He would rush and run constantly while attending all if his time at the table next to us. We got the appetizer with the spicy capicola, prosciutto, and cheese with some candied walnuts (which I think are just the bourbon-candied pecans from the Whole Foods nearby), but there were only three small thin pieces of crostini (about 1”x3”) to go with the meats (several thin slices of capicola and several of prosciutto), and they didn't bring our bread until after we asked after our appetizer finally arrived (an appetizer that requires no effort but grabbing stuff and putting it on a wood block). The bread had three small slices and I joked with my spouse that of all if the things to skimp on bread and crostini are poor choices because they're the cheapest thing there! The place has lost its charm for us, even though the food is good. It's not worth $33 for a filet. We didn't bother to get dessert because we were tired of being disappointed by our waiter. We wanted to know what kind of pinot (what year, etc.) because he took the menus before taking our order by stopping, taking our menus as if taking our order (although that's weird because sometimes people need to see the menu to point their choice out), and then rushing to the table next to us and completely ignoring us. It felt like he was taking our menus away for taking too long to choose. When I said I'd love to know more information about the wine, (and he dropped our ticket off so quickly without giving us a chance to stop him - the way he was the entire time), he commented that he's just a guy who moves fast. He didn't say anything like "What can I help you with” but was just really cold. I am not extremely picky, and I dislike prima donna reviews that aren’t objective, but I expect service to support this price point, and I get better service at Waffle House on a sleepy Sunday morning when I don't want to go anywhere. Another weird thing happened when he was talking once again forever to the people behind us. They asked what "Cibo e Beve" means and he answered "food and dance" which made me chuckle, because anyone remotely familiar with Italian knows that “Beve" shares the same root as the word “beverage." We acted like decent people and still gave a decent tip (20%) but he could have gotten much better. Two entrees, a skimpy appetizer plate, and one glass of wine later we were over $90 before including the tip. We paid for a pleasant experience, and got a waiter that belongs at Golden Corral. He was tall, dark, with short cropped hair and glasses. Oh, and he told the table behind us that he's been there for five years, but when I asked for a favorite I got just a couple of years ago he says he didn't remember them every second it although at the time it was extremely popular for several months. I'm very disappointed that a place we used to love has slipped and is now pretentious. There are very limited parking spaces in front, so it's better to park in back if you feel safe behind the building. There's still not enough parking during a busy time, and the spaces in front of the restaurant are very narrow as if made only for compact cars and not SUVs. Pricing examples: lasagna is currently about $16, the filet is $33 and the veal osso bucco is $36. Based on the service I'd rather get the osso bucco at Miller's Ale House where the wait staff is actually friendly. Funny how a place that used to have such great energy is now so blah regarding service!

What A Great Experience!

By katork |

Hint: In a strip shopping center and hard to find a place to park in the front, but plenty of parking in the back of the shopping strip and a quick walk up to the restaurant. Lovely front covered patio with nice cushions on chairs. Inside are comfy booths with pillows and tables of different types. We made a reservation even though it was a Wed night. Surprisingly many people had reserved tables and they were not full, but fairly busy for 7pm. Service: Top notch, but I did feel a little rushed to order everything at once. I am always afraid the appetizers and entrees will come out too close together- which they do sometimes. It would have been nice if the waitress has wiped the table of spills from the food which is bound to happen from the dipping oil and appetizers that we shared, but I did it myself and she never noticed...I had to ask for my water to be filled, but others got there's filled. Maybe she couldn't see well? Food: Our favs were the grilled artichoke appetizer, chicken piccata, salmon and tiramisu. Wonderful bread, but not enough oil. Least fav was the calamari, pizza and the bomb spumoni dessert ( too hard to crack the chocolate and almost flew off the table). All in all, it is a comfortable and lovely decorated restaurant and I would go again. Nice place for a special event. Has a bar with seating and a long seating table to wathc the kitchen in action.

Good - Not Great

By JAH729 |

Four of us ate here on Dec. 28, 2017. It is a small restaurant with very tight space - this was not an issue since it was not very busy on this evening, but on a crowded night it would be uncomfortable. One major complaint is that they did not have some of the items on the menu. For example, my wife ordered the crab risotto as an entree. This was a special for that evening - not on the regular menu. The waiter came back almost 15 minutes later to explain that they did not have crab or risotto and instead he would bring her fruitte de mare. That was not something she wanted so we had to start from the beginning and order again. This was an early dinner - arrived a bit before 6. Menu stated in large type that the restaurant offers special $20 bottles of wine if ordered before 6. We asked what kind of wine this included and were informed that the restaurant hasn’t honored this wine special in more than a year (so take it off the menu we suggested - and not falsely advertise). Food was good, but in at least one case a very small serving. One friend ordered Scampi Classico and she only got 4 small shrimp. My Veal Involtini was very good as was the warm red-cabbage salad and I recommend both. Based on our overall experience this place is a bit over-rated. Although most of the food was nicely prepared.
